- 0:15Speaker 2: I am very happily joined by my husband, Ryan Sutter,
- 0:20Speaker 2: who loves podcasting with me. No, I know you don't.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Once we get once we get going, it's all good.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And we're in this lovely Verbo in the Lake Tahoe,
- 0:37Speaker 2: which you know, coming to Lake Tahoe just reminds me
- 0:40Speaker 2: of being in Veil where we lived for twenty years,
- 0:43Speaker 2: and I cannot wait to go and look all around
- 0:48Speaker 2: the property. I know you've seen a little bit of it, and.
- 0:51Speaker 3: It is that's beautiful.
- 0:52Speaker 1: It is beautiful.
- 0:54Speaker 2: We got so lucky, and you guys, listen, procrastinators can
- 0:59Speaker 2: rejoice because Verbo has last minute deals for private vacation
- 1:05Speaker 2: renolds and you'll want to ping this one. I think
- 1:09Speaker 2: it's called the River House in Tahoe and it is stunning.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It has like a massage room, it has a sauna.
- 1:16Speaker 1: What else does it have?
- 1:17Speaker 2: It has a beautiful pool and hot tub outside just
- 1:21Speaker 2: this babbling creek.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Is that what? You call it babbling, bubbling usually brook
- 1:27Speaker 1: babbling brook, thank you babbeling. This is why I bring him.
- 1:36Speaker 2: And they've got nearly three hundred thousand discounted properties that
- 1:40Speaker 2: you can book within thirty days of checking in. So
- 1:43Speaker 2: definitely go on verbo and check out their properties. But
- 1:46Speaker 2: I am really excited to chat with you because this
- 1:51Speaker 2: whole week I guess week because we're not in the weekend.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Was my idea, and I'm so proud of it. I'm
- 1:58Speaker 1: so proud because.
- 1:59Speaker 2: You know how much I love pickleball.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yes I do.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And so here you are.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And yesterday you were wearing a lovely gift that I
- 2:18Speaker 2: gave you that prepped you for this week, guys, his
- 2:26Speaker 2: very own court shoes, because what were you playing in?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Tell the people what you were playing in before I
- 2:30Speaker 2: got you court shoes.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I don't remember, I don't know. You don't need to
- 2:38Speaker 3: be like super big.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You clearly have not been to my league. Clearly Epic
- 2:46Speaker 2: pick a Ball shout out to Epic Pickleball in Littleton, Colorado.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: No, it is serious business, s babe, and you have
- 2:55Speaker 2: to get into the mindset because we are playing in
- 2:57Speaker 2: a tournament today and we are winning.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I know, okay, I'm not worried about it. I think
- 3:03Speaker 3: I can handle it. I mean, it was pickleball to
- 3:08Speaker 3: as far as I understand, was, if not started, at
- 3:13Speaker 3: least made popular by a population usually over sixty five.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So I feel usually not anymore, and I.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Know it's I know it's caught on with the younger generation.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I actually feel bad for the older folks that started
- 3:28Speaker 3: it and had this kind of to themselves. Yeah right,
- 3:31Speaker 3: and then people like you have come along and made
- 3:33Speaker 3: it really popular and ruined it for all the old
- 3:36Speaker 3: old folks. So I hope you're proud of yourself with
- 3:39Speaker 3: you and your pickball.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Well, you know, I am getting up there in age, yeah, true,
- 3:44Speaker 1: fifty two.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I'm glad you actually found something that you enjoy doing.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I love it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I love pickleball, and it's really for me obviously. It's
- 3:52Speaker 2: good girl time. Like we get together with you know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: some of our friends who are couples and we get
- 3:57Speaker 2: to play and I I just love it. I you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: almost famous we usually do in all the iHeart podcasts.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We usually do like golf tournaments, and I don't play golf,
- 4:10Speaker 2: And I was like, hmm, could we please do a
- 4:12Speaker 2: pickleball tournament because that's something that I really love. And
- 4:15Speaker 2: I know that there are tons of Bachelor Nation people
- 4:19Speaker 2: and of course all of the rest of the people,
- 4:22Speaker 2: Real Housewives, all of the iHeart Podcast people who love
- 4:26Speaker 2: pickleball just as much as me. So I'm really excited
- 4:31Speaker 2: we are actually having a tournament. So there's like tears
- 4:35Speaker 2: you know, people.
- 4:38Speaker 3: That we know or is this yes, like a world world.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yes, we're going to dominate the world.
- 4:46Speaker 3: People the.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Top, Maybe we should, maybe there's a new idea.
- 4:55Speaker 1: No, it is just us. It's all the people who
- 4:57Speaker 1: are here for this event.
- 4:59Speaker 3: So I feel more confident in our in our potential.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yes, Deanna has never played before, right, so, and I
- 5:08Speaker 2: think Bob and Canyon played once.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Well, sometimes people that haven't played are the ones that
- 5:13Speaker 3: you got to look out.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You're so right, especially with that big arm wingspand that
- 5:19Speaker 2: Bob has, so yeah, we got to watch out for them. Yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 2: we're watching out for you, Bob and Canyon.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Uh.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And then there's the Goldens, who I know will be
- 5:30Speaker 2: bringing it today.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's their sport.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Okay, So who are you excited to see?
- 5:40Speaker 2: I know you probably don't even know most of the
- 5:42Speaker 2: people but.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I don't know who's coming. I mean, I always I'm
- 5:45Speaker 3: always excited to see Bob. Yeah, and I've already seen
- 5:50Speaker 3: him and we were both up early this morning, so
- 5:54Speaker 3: they got to catch up with him a little bit
- 5:55Speaker 3: and hear about his sort of wild travelers try and
- 6:00Speaker 3: get here. It seemed like it was difficult for everyone
- 6:03Speaker 3: to get here, including us, took a little longer than Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I think it was about the storms that he actually
- 6:09Speaker 2: experienced firsthand. But I think that's why we were delayed. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 2: because we had a little bit of a travel date.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yesterday.
- 6:17Speaker 2: We were supposed to leave Denver at four of seven pm,
- 6:20Speaker 2: and I don't know how many times did it get
- 6:23Speaker 2: pushed back?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Five maybe?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Anyway, we got here all as well, and it's beautiful
- 6:29Speaker 2: and more excited to be here. So what do you
- 6:32Speaker 2: love about Lake Tahoe? Like, I know what I love
- 6:35Speaker 2: and I just kind of specified, But what.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Do you like about time?
- 6:39Speaker 3: I just like all mountain areas. Yeah, I don't. I
- 6:44Speaker 3: think the first time did I or we came here
- 6:48Speaker 3: was when I used to do the extra triathlons and
- 6:52Speaker 3: this one was the national championship for a while. So
- 6:54Speaker 3: we came to that a couple of times, and then
- 6:59Speaker 3: and then it's been a while. All I came and
- 7:00Speaker 3: took a swift water certification class in Trucky a few
- 7:05Speaker 3: years ago to get instructors certified in that, and then
- 7:10Speaker 3: we came a few years ago with the almost famous people,
- 7:14Speaker 3: so I haven't spent a lot of time. It's and
- 7:17Speaker 3: it's funny because I was talking to Bob's wife. She
- 7:20Speaker 3: used to be a snowboarder and she would come up
- 7:22Speaker 3: here in snowboard in school. I mean, she was competitive,
- 7:26Speaker 3: so she would come up here and she had said
- 7:29Speaker 3: she had never been up here in the summertime. And
- 7:31Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever been up here in the.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Winter time, so true, which we haven't.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Crazy, So I love it as a summer destination. I've
- 7:40Speaker 3: never been here in the winter. And the lake obviously
- 7:42Speaker 3: is a big part of it.
- 7:44Speaker 1: It's beautiful, gorgeous.
- 7:46Speaker 2: One of my favorite pictures with Max, with us and
- 7:48Speaker 2: Max is when we were here for the most famous
- 7:51Speaker 2: thing and we stune on the dock, so.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Pretty out there.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like the same thing, like about the mountains.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You know in Vale they say you come for the winter,
- 8:02Speaker 2: but you stay for the summer. I feel like summer
- 8:05Speaker 2: is so underrated and should not be, even though I
- 8:08Speaker 2: probably shouldn't be telling people that because then, you know,
- 8:11Speaker 2: the mountains will just kept popular.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And yeah, I think it's pretty popular.
- 8:17Speaker 2: True true story. And we have a little getaway without
- 8:22Speaker 2: the kids. Hopefully they are taking care of their responsibilities,
- 8:28Speaker 2: including our dog.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I read them this morning about feeding Coda, and I
- 8:32Speaker 3: don't think they haven't.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Really know they did. He just did.
- 8:36Speaker 2: While we've been talking. Max said that blakesleeve at him
- 8:40Speaker 2: and I did say, make sure you get up, make
- 8:43Speaker 2: sure you walk Coda.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Like, yeah, I don't worry about them. I mean, they'll
- 8:46Speaker 3: do what they're going to do, and they're old enough to,
- 8:48Speaker 3: you know, sort of manage on their own. But yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 3: that poor little dog needs attention and he usually gets
- 8:55Speaker 3: it from me and I'm not there, so I don't
- 8:58Speaker 3: worry about it. Like he's like the little kid now
- 9:02Speaker 3: in our family because our little kids aren't little kids anymore.
- 9:07Speaker 2: No, they're not speaking of our baby boy just turned
- 9:13Speaker 2: eighteen years old.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah I cannot.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I still can't believe that we actually have an adult
- 9:21Speaker 2: like he isn't he's official, Yeah, wanted he still leave babe,
- 9:28Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, buddy, Please don't.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Leave, Please don't leave me.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to be really interesting to see what
- 9:38Speaker 2: his future entails at Blakesley too, obviously, but he is
- 9:42Speaker 2: right on the precipice. You know, He's got one more
- 9:43Speaker 2: year of school and then we'll see what happens. You know,
- 9:49Speaker 2: for everybody out there, he plays hockey. He would love
- 9:52Speaker 2: to play hockey after high school. But that's a whole
- 9:57Speaker 2: ball game in itself. You have to go to juniors
- 10:00Speaker 2: instead of going to college, and we do. You know,
- 10:04Speaker 2: both of us have master's degrees, and we value education
- 10:08Speaker 2: and we would love for him to get the college experience.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So at least I would so.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But I will say the more and more we've talked
- 10:15Speaker 2: about it, growing up, college was always a given, Like
- 10:20Speaker 2: for my kids, it was like, my kids will go
- 10:22Speaker 2: to college because I felt like that was something that
- 10:26Speaker 2: my parents instilled in me. And more and more I've
- 10:30Speaker 2: had conversations with people. We've talked about it, like the
- 10:33Speaker 2: trades and firefighting, and there's not one specific route that
- 10:40Speaker 2: you like, is the norm anymore? I feel like there's
- 10:42Speaker 2: so many options.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I encourage him, you know, while you're
- 10:48Speaker 3: young to do all the things that you can only
- 10:50Speaker 3: do while you're young. Like, if he wants to continue
- 10:53Speaker 3: to try to play hockey, then he should do that now,
- 10:55Speaker 3: because that's like opportunities fall off the table as you
- 10:59Speaker 3: grow older. Yeah, And so to be able to take
- 11:02Speaker 3: advantage of all of those now and then, like navigating
- 11:06Speaker 3: the career world or the professional world is difficult, just
- 11:12Speaker 3: because there's so many things changing daily with everything from
- 11:18Speaker 3: artificial intelligence and what the impact that has on jobs,
- 11:21Speaker 3: and like if just from a big picture, like high
- 11:25Speaker 3: level view that I have, I certainly don't have to
- 11:28Speaker 3: know a ton about it, but it seems like computers
- 11:32Speaker 3: are taking over or capable of taking over a lot
- 11:35Speaker 3: of the intellectual side of work, which is what you
- 11:39Speaker 3: go to college for. And so you're kind of wondering, well,
- 11:42Speaker 3: are you just going to college to learn something that
- 11:44Speaker 3: computer could do for you and trying to integrate you know,
- 11:48Speaker 3: I mean it's always been that way, even since just
- 11:51Speaker 3: calculators were invented. You just people just need to figure
- 11:56Speaker 3: out how to work with the the latest technology, and
- 12:00Speaker 3: that's kind of an unknown at this point. So don't
- 12:05Speaker 3: I don't worry too much about either of our kids.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I think they're both very capable people, and their heads
- 12:13Speaker 3: are on straight and they both like, you know, just
- 12:20Speaker 3: thinking about Max in particular, because he just turned eighteen,
- 12:24Speaker 3: in his future outside of our house is closer than Blakesley's.
- 12:27Speaker 3: But I think he's got he's just so well rounded,
- 12:32Speaker 3: and he's he's really developed a lot of maturity over
- 12:37Speaker 3: the last few years, and I think that he's going
- 12:40Speaker 3: to be fine whatever he does. And then and then
- 12:43Speaker 3: Blakesley's a sixteen year old girl, and it's a little
- 12:46Speaker 3: bit harder at least for me to sort of see
- 12:49Speaker 3: any kind of like I don't think she's really even
- 12:51Speaker 3: thinking about it.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I mean, I think she has a little bit, just
- 12:55Speaker 2: because she you know, talks about dancing or modeling or
- 12:59Speaker 2: you know, fashion or whatever, and I bring it up
- 13:03Speaker 2: all the time, like, you know, about college, and we've
- 13:05Speaker 2: looked at a couple of colleges. So I think just
- 13:08Speaker 2: naturally it comes from that conversation of mom nagging and
- 13:11Speaker 2: saying like, you know, what do you want to do?
- 13:13Speaker 2: What do you want to do?
- 13:15Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I get it. But like where were we
- 13:18Speaker 3: we were driving home from Max's birthday dinner, Yeah, and
- 13:23Speaker 3: we saw a Bronco and she's always wanted a Bronco
- 13:25Speaker 3: and she's like, you know, Dad, actually I kind of
- 13:27Speaker 3: like g wagons better.
- 13:29Speaker 1: No, I was like, okay, well who doesn't so does.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Everyone, but that's going to have to be like that's
- 13:36Speaker 3: where her mind is. This is sure I want she
- 13:40Speaker 3: wants to be successful. I just don't know that she
- 13:42Speaker 3: knows in what yet.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So yeah, she doesn't get the reality of the situation
- 13:47Speaker 1: quite yet.
- 13:48Speaker 2: One thing we know is that she will not be
- 13:50Speaker 2: getting a g wagon from us. So dinner is you know,
- 14:06Speaker 2: for Max's birthday.
- 14:09Speaker 1: The guilt is alive and well in me because I
- 14:14Speaker 1: wasn't there.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I was wondering if you were going to bring that
- 14:17Speaker 3: Oh you.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I mean, hello reality. I'm I definitely feel guilty that
- 14:22Speaker 2: I wasn't there. I as you know, I feel like
- 14:26Speaker 2: it's really important to take advantage of opportunities and spend
- 14:32Speaker 2: time with friends, and that's kind of me time and
- 14:40Speaker 2: got invited to go to Caitlin Bristow's fortieth birthday celebration
- 14:45Speaker 2: in Cabo, and of course just so happened to be
- 14:50Speaker 2: when our son turned eighteen years old, so.
- 14:54Speaker 3: His last birthday at our.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Would you stop that No, not true, because next year
- 14:59Speaker 2: he will be at home before he goes away.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Maybe there's no guarantees.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Like you have to add on, like just add on
- 15:06Speaker 2: to that guilt bit. You're doing a real good job
- 15:08Speaker 2: of that.
- 15:08Speaker 3: It's my job.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It's not your job. It's your job to.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Support one of the parents. Was able to get oh
- 15:14Speaker 3: day off working, spend the eighteenth birthday with.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Like, you haven't missed a birthday.
- 15:20Speaker 3: In eighteenth it's a big one.
- 15:23Speaker 1: AnyWho.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Anyway, what are you saying about your trip to Mexico?
- 15:29Speaker 3: Didn't you take? Calen's birthday was in Mexico.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Kaln's birthday was in Mexico in Cabo. Her mom owns
- 15:38Speaker 2: a house there and was very generous and letting us
- 15:42Speaker 2: and hosting us and letting us stay there. I don't
- 15:45Speaker 2: think I told you this, but her mom was going
- 15:47Speaker 2: to be there and her appendix burst. Yeah, so she
- 15:53Speaker 2: couldn't be there unfortunately. So shout out to Leslie. I
- 15:58Speaker 2: wish I could have spent time with you, but oh
- 16:01Speaker 2: she was. She was, you know, trying to get healthy. Anyway,
- 16:06Speaker 2: we had an incredible girls trip and I really do
- 16:09Speaker 2: feel like it is important for me to I haven't had.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I haven't done anything this summer, Like you went to
- 16:16Speaker 2: have a soupe, falls, you went to like on backpacking
- 16:21Speaker 2: trips or whatever with both of the kids, and I
- 16:23Speaker 2: just I haven't done anything. And I was like, this
- 16:26Speaker 2: is the one. And I asked you guys before I
- 16:29Speaker 2: booked the Chickens.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Well, and you were invited to all of those trips.
- 16:33Speaker 3: It's just those that's not really your thing.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, someone needed to stay home with
- 16:42Speaker 2: Coda because Max was working when you went to have
- 16:46Speaker 2: a supe.
- 16:46Speaker 1: You couldn't take him.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Remember what you just said about him being our baby. Yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 2: so anyway, I thank you for.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Being semi supportive of the trip.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It really was like, you know, for me, social stuff
- 17:09Speaker 2: fills my bucket.
- 17:10Speaker 1: You know that.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Girlfriends fill my bucket, and I didn't. I only knew,
- 17:18Speaker 2: Like I obviously I know Caitlin. It's her birthday and
- 17:21Speaker 2: that's why I got invited, but because I'm a friend.
- 17:24Speaker 2: But I only knew a couple of them because one
- 17:29Speaker 2: has been had been on The Better Et cetera podcast
- 17:31Speaker 2: that I used to do, and I was on her podcast,
- 17:34Speaker 2: Aaron Trelore, and then Cleo is like her, you know
- 17:38Speaker 2: she works with with Caitlin on her Spade and Sparrows brand,
- 17:41Speaker 2: so we had we had talked. I had never met
- 17:44Speaker 2: Whitney Angel, who is Crystal's.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Chosen person.
- 17:48Speaker 2: They got engaged but then uh separated and I adore
- 17:53Speaker 2: her Shay who's one of her best friends from growing up,
- 17:58Speaker 2: Jess one of her friends from growing up, and then
- 18:01Speaker 2: who am I missing Kat who's like herbestie in Nashville,
- 18:07Speaker 2: And just to be able to meet new friends that
- 18:11Speaker 2: we were like all on the same page, like the
- 18:15Speaker 2: same wavelength. I feel like we all are very interested
- 18:19Speaker 2: in like deep connection and conversation, and it was just easy.
- 18:24Speaker 2: It was one of those trips where everyone got along
- 18:29Speaker 2: so well and it was just easy.
- 18:32Speaker 1: There was no drama.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Shay had everything like planned out to the nines, so
- 18:38Speaker 2: didn't have to even think about anything and could just
- 18:41Speaker 2: go and have fun. We dressed up like Abuela's one night,
- 18:45Speaker 2: which was so fun, and Leslie had arranged for a
- 18:48Speaker 2: mariachi band to come and serenade us, which was hysterical.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I cannot wait for Caitlin to post our TikTok that
- 18:56Speaker 2: we did, which was so much fun. Like I love
- 19:01Speaker 2: I Love feeling young when I'm definitely not. Like I
- 19:05Speaker 2: was the old, the old abuela of the group and.
- 19:11Speaker 3: You didn't even have to dress up, really, you just
- 19:12Speaker 3: I know, right.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I totally didn't. I mean literally, if I'd let my
- 19:15Speaker 2: hair grow out, it would all be white anyway. So
- 19:20Speaker 2: I actually was going to say that in the like
- 19:23Speaker 2: the group chat before we left, I'm like, do I
- 19:25Speaker 2: have to really bring anything? Because you know, I am
- 19:28Speaker 2: fifty two years old anyway, Yes, we all dressed up.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I put towels in my under my bra and it
- 19:37Speaker 2: tucked in my underwear just to like give myself a
- 19:39Speaker 2: little extra padding.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Thankfully.
- 19:42Speaker 2: My friend Kate Cubic had like a Grandma costume like
- 19:46Speaker 2: costume in that she had a cane and a wig
- 19:50Speaker 2: and the glasses with the like beaded Oh my gosh,
- 19:54Speaker 2: it was so funny. So I've put on the glasses
- 19:57Speaker 2: and it has this beaded you know, the beaded thing
- 19:59Speaker 2: that you put herud on your next so they don't
- 20:00Speaker 2: fall off. And I had them hanging in the front
- 20:04Speaker 2: like I because I don't normally wear them. And Whitney
- 20:08Speaker 2: was like we were getting ready, and she was like,
- 20:10Speaker 2: I think that goes in the back, you know, so
- 20:13Speaker 2: that they don't fall off, because the whole purpose of
- 20:15Speaker 2: the beaded necklace thing that goes on your glasses is
- 20:18Speaker 2: you wear them around the back of your neck so
- 20:21Speaker 2: they don't fall off. And I had them in the front,
- 20:23Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, yeah, new to this granny game.
- 20:26Speaker 2: But you'll get it figured out and I'll get it
- 20:29Speaker 2: figured out of it.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And the Majong portion and Majong I'm all about those,
- 20:39Speaker 2: those golden games. I will say we were we were
- 20:50Speaker 2: out to lunch on Max's birthday, and I definitely got emotional.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I was I was definitely teary and sad that I
- 21:05Speaker 2: wasn't with all of you, but think, I'm so thankful
- 21:08Speaker 2: to Blakesley because before I left, you know, this was
- 21:11Speaker 2: my this was my contribution is and usually, as I
- 21:17Speaker 2: will say, I decided I was going to get him
- 21:20Speaker 2: eighteen presents for his eighteenth birthday, went and did all
- 21:24Speaker 2: the shopping, bought the guitar, got bought the sambas, bought
- 21:27Speaker 2: the you know, all the other things and oh the
- 21:30Speaker 2: pool stick, and wrap them all in our closet before
- 21:35Speaker 2: I left, so that Blakesley could just like take them
- 21:38Speaker 2: and set them up and got you know, the banner
- 21:42Speaker 2: out so she could hang that up. So I was
- 21:46Speaker 2: part of it, even though it was in preparation mode.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Max had a Grade eighteenth birthday, So
- 21:52Speaker 3: I don't think it would have been nice to have
- 21:54Speaker 3: you there obviously if you didn't have something else going on.
- 21:57Speaker 3: But I don't think anyone holds it. Again, you were
- 22:00Speaker 3: going to spend that time in Mexico, and we understand
- 22:04Speaker 3: that you that you need and deserve that time and Max,
- 22:11Speaker 3: Max didn't like it, didn't phase him one way or
- 22:14Speaker 3: the other end. So I think it was fortuitous for
- 22:18Speaker 3: me because that vacation day popped up and I was
- 22:22Speaker 3: able to get it, and then he and I were
- 22:25Speaker 3: able to take that backpacking trip and spend some really
- 22:29Speaker 3: quality time together. Blakes had a little bit of time
- 22:33Speaker 3: on her own, and it all kind of worked out,
- 22:35Speaker 3: and then we ended up getting back and going to dinner,
- 22:38Speaker 3: and his buddies came down from the mountains and are
- 22:41Speaker 3: still at our house, so who knows. So I think
- 22:49Speaker 3: it worked out really well for everyone. It was a
- 22:53Speaker 3: great weekend and I think he'll remember it. You'll remember it.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I think it's a good it just worked out. It
- 23:02Speaker 3: was it was good on I don't know a lot
- 23:05Speaker 3: of different fronts, and so yeah, I'm glad you had
- 23:07Speaker 3: a good time and guts to spend that time with
- 23:09Speaker 3: your friends. And I'm glad I got to spend that
- 23:11Speaker 3: time with just Max because I don't get a lot
- 23:13Speaker 3: of that opportunity these days, so A skipped.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree you guys.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I thought it was really special that you were able
- 23:21Speaker 2: to get time off and that he was willing to
- 23:25Speaker 2: go on this backpacking trip with you, because it's usually
- 23:28Speaker 2: your little adventure buddy Blakesley that goes on those with you.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I really feel like I'm proud of him he like
- 23:34Speaker 2: you've said, over the past few years, but I think
- 23:37Speaker 2: most recently he's really like open to whatever, Like he
- 23:43Speaker 2: doesn't automatically say nah, I just want to hang out
- 23:46Speaker 2: and play video games or like be on my phone.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I feel like he's open to experiencing life more so lately.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, he was fully engaged in and it
- 24:00Speaker 3: wasn't like I didn't feel like he was there just
- 24:03Speaker 3: to appease me. Yeah, you know, he was. He waded
- 24:06Speaker 3: out into the lake and was looking for fish and
- 24:08Speaker 3: climbing on rocks like he always did when he was little,
- 24:11Speaker 3: And Yeah, he really seemed to embrace the experience and
- 24:17Speaker 3: enjoy it. And I think I anticipate him doing that
- 24:24Speaker 3: on his own in his life, which is what you
- 24:27Speaker 3: hope for as a parent, is that you do all
- 24:30Speaker 3: these things to exemplify the characteristics that you want your
- 24:33Speaker 3: kids to some they live live into and you don't
- 24:37Speaker 3: actually see that happening until this point in their lives. Yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 3: when they start to come around and have an appreciation
- 24:43Speaker 3: for the environment or nature and that sort of stuff,
- 24:46Speaker 3: and they turn into the people that you really hoped
- 24:50Speaker 3: they would turn into as you kind of guided them
- 24:54Speaker 3: along their paths. But you never really know. And so
- 24:57Speaker 3: when you start to see little things like that, like
- 24:59Speaker 3: his whiteboard with the quotes, and yes, his appreciation of
- 25:03Speaker 3: going to and going camping with his friends and all
- 25:05Speaker 3: these sorts of things that, Yeah, at least from my
- 25:10Speaker 3: side of parenting, I always try to sort of encourage
- 25:13Speaker 3: and he's picked up on that, which is kind of
- 25:17Speaker 3: what you hope for.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Oh he he he loves you, He admires you, he
- 25:24Speaker 2: looks up to you, And I think that you have
- 25:27Speaker 2: done such a good job of instilling that like love
- 25:30Speaker 2: of nature and adventure in him.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So thank you.
- 25:45Speaker 2: So going back to Caitlin's birthday, I just have to
- 25:51Speaker 2: say how proud of her I am. She has worked
- 25:55Speaker 2: so hard on herself and puts so much work. Again,
- 26:00Speaker 2: there's a place called Hoffman that I feel like she's
- 26:03Speaker 2: been to. I so want to go. Like it is
- 26:07Speaker 2: like deep dive into self growth, if you will. I
- 26:16Speaker 2: don't know if that's a good way to describe it,
- 26:18Speaker 2: but from what I understand, it seems so powerful and
- 26:23Speaker 2: like helping you get through trauma and any issues that
- 26:29Speaker 2: you work on or need to work on in yourself. Anyway,
- 26:34Speaker 2: I'm just really proud of her and really happy for her.
- 26:38Speaker 1: She's in such a good place right now.
- 26:41Speaker 2: And one of the girls, Aaron's, she has this podcast
- 26:48Speaker 2: called Raw Beauty Talks I think that's what it's called,
- 26:51Speaker 2: and really is like a life coach, and she asked
- 26:56Speaker 2: Caitlin like every dinner or meal or just when we
- 26:59Speaker 2: were sitting around, we would ask each other questions and
- 27:06Speaker 2: we even did the living card thing that you guys
- 27:09Speaker 2: did for me on my fiftieth you know, she was
- 27:11Speaker 2: there and curse out too.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Which was really special.
- 27:15Speaker 2: But and everyone kind of had the same sentiment that
- 27:20Speaker 2: they were happy for her and proud of her for
- 27:23Speaker 2: you know, what she's done to work on herself and
- 27:29Speaker 2: her anxiety and all of that. And she talks openly
- 27:34Speaker 2: about this, so it's not like I'm you know, giving
- 27:37Speaker 2: up any secrets that she has. But Aaron asked this question, like,
- 27:44Speaker 2: what do you hope in this next chapter of your life?
- 27:47Speaker 1: What do you hope for yourself? And she said.
- 27:53Speaker 2: That she's really in the mode of protecting her peace,
- 27:57Speaker 2: which I was like, that is I love that. And actually,
- 28:02Speaker 2: I'm putting together a real that I'm going to put
- 28:04Speaker 2: out today, and I've found a song that literally says
- 28:08Speaker 2: in it about protecting your piece. I think it's called
- 28:11Speaker 2: Queen Energy, and I was like, this is the perfect song.
- 28:16Speaker 1: So I'm just so proud of her.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I'm I'm I feel really blessed and grateful to have
- 28:23Speaker 2: been extended the invitation to be part of her celebration.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I mean, she.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Celebrated a lot. This was like her last, her last
- 28:33Speaker 2: celebration for her fortieth birthday, and I feel really lucky
- 28:37Speaker 2: that I got to be a part of it, because
- 28:40Speaker 2: I you know, she gets a lot of criticism, and
- 28:45Speaker 2: I think she's a wonderful, beautiful human being, and I
- 28:51Speaker 2: love surrounding myself with people like that, all of.
- 28:53Speaker 3: You guys that have been the focus of these shows,
- 28:58Speaker 3: and it seems so funny to be talking about the
- 29:00Speaker 3: Bachelor after twenty whatever some years, But everybody that's put
- 29:04Speaker 3: themselves out there has had, especially lately, has had they
- 29:09Speaker 3: have an increased level of criticism from the world because
- 29:13Speaker 3: the world's just more critical than when we were on it.
- 29:16Speaker 3: There were forever less avenues of criticism, so that helped us.
- 29:20Speaker 3: But I think it's hard for people like Caitlin, who
- 29:23Speaker 3: are great people, but people can pick them apart and
- 29:28Speaker 3: it's impossible to not let that get to you. So
- 29:31Speaker 3: for her and anyone who's going through those types of struggles,
- 29:36Speaker 3: it's great to find places like Hoffman or just people
- 29:39Speaker 3: you can talk to or avenues that you can do
- 29:42Speaker 3: some introspection and put some perspective on your life and
- 29:45Speaker 3: realize that the people that matter are the ones that
- 29:48Speaker 3: go to your fortieth birthday party, that actually skip their
- 29:53Speaker 3: eighteen year old son's birthday party to go to your
- 29:56Speaker 3: fortieth birthday party because they care so much about you
- 30:00Speaker 3: in your future. And that's what more people need, is
- 30:04Speaker 3: just whether your support group is one or one hundred,
- 30:08Speaker 3: everybody just needs somebody that they can kind of go
- 30:11Speaker 3: to to regain their perspective and purpose and that sort
- 30:18Speaker 3: of stuff. And so I'm glad that you were able
- 30:20Speaker 3: to be a part of that for her, and I
- 30:21Speaker 3: hope that she can continue to take this momentum moving
- 30:24Speaker 3: forward and really do great things with her life. I'm
- 30:27Speaker 3: sure she will. She's an awesome person. So I'm glad
- 30:32Speaker 3: you were able to be a part of that.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I felt like it was it was just good energy,
- 30:41Speaker 2: like really good positive energy. And I know you saw,
- 30:47Speaker 2: but I got her. She loves playing cards and I
- 30:51Speaker 2: had every girl send five or six pictures of them
- 30:55Speaker 2: with her, and I had playing cards made for her,
- 30:58Speaker 2: and she loved it, like with everybody's pictures on them,
- 31:02Speaker 2: she loved it. So just to be able to shower
- 31:05Speaker 2: her with love, because I always feel like she showers
- 31:08Speaker 2: me with so much love. Like I remember when I
- 31:10Speaker 2: was sick and she sent flowers like and I was
- 31:13Speaker 2: just I was sick. It's not like my appendix burst
- 31:16Speaker 2: or anything. So like just I adore you, Caitlin, if
- 31:21Speaker 2: you're listening, and I just wish you know the world
- 31:26Speaker 2: saw more of that positive light and energy in you
- 31:31Speaker 2: that I see.
- 31:32Speaker 1: But happy fortieth birthday.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Okay, well, thanks for joining me in this amazing Verbo Again,
