Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game
- 0:12Speaker 1: show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and today we're joined by Jannis Putellis, Rody Henderson, Randall Williams,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Christine Sawicki, Ryan Callahan and Hillary Burn.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Now, Hillary, this is your first.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Time on the show, So tell folks what you do
- 0:28Speaker 1: here at Meat Eater?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Nickname Field the Burn.
- 0:32Speaker 3: And Chester Floyd.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Oh, and Chester Chester.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I'm sorry you were a late addition to the show
- 0:37Speaker 1: because we had someone else drop out. We're also joined
- 0:39Speaker 1: by Chester Floyd. But now we're gonna hear from Hillary.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Hey what she does here at meat Eater?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Hi? Everyone, Hillary here? Okay, feel the Burn. I am
- 0:49Speaker 2: the director of post production here at Meat Eater. So
- 0:53Speaker 2: it's fun.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Hillary. I don't want to put any extra pressure on you,
- 0:58Speaker 1: but you're like the most requested media employee who had
- 1:01Speaker 1: to be on the show. Jiannis texted me about it
- 1:03Speaker 1: a few weeks ago. He brought it up again this morning.
- 1:05Speaker 1: He says, Hey, when is Hillary gonna play? I also
- 1:07Speaker 1: got an Instagram DM from your neighbor saying why hasn't
- 1:10Speaker 1: Hillary been on the show now?
- 1:12Speaker 2: So here we are well. Ah, that is because I
- 1:17Speaker 2: know I will not be very good at this. You
- 1:19Speaker 2: don't think so, come on, crush it all right now, Hillary.
- 1:25Speaker 1: This is a ten round quiz show with questions for
- 1:27Speaker 1: meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 1:30Speaker 1: and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
- 1:33Speaker 1: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing
- 1:37Speaker 1: and for the stat of the week this week, we're
- 1:39Speaker 1: looking at the number six hundred. Honest, you know why
- 1:42Speaker 1: the number six hundred might be significant, not at all.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Six hundred is the number of questions that the suits
- 1:49Speaker 1: here at Meat Eater asked me to make for the
- 1:51Speaker 1: Meat Eater Trivia board game. And I said, suits, I
- 1:54Speaker 1: don't think that's enough. So I didn't make six hundred.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I didn't make seven hundred. I made eight hundred questions
- 1:59Speaker 1: for the meat Eater Trivia board game. Wow, that's right,
- 2:02Speaker 1: going the extra miles, extra mile listen. And I was
- 2:05Speaker 1: actually going to go up to one thousand questions, but
- 2:07Speaker 1: the factory finally stepped in and told me they couldn't
- 2:10Speaker 1: fit another card in the box, so we settled that
- 2:13Speaker 1: eight hundred and that's what you'll get when the board
- 2:16Speaker 1: game comes out this.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Fall, So that would be eighty games.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Eighty games we have seven hundred and fifty are regular
- 2:26Speaker 1: questions and fifty are tie breaker questions, so it could
- 2:30Speaker 1: support seventy five games with fifty of those going to
- 2:33Speaker 1: a tiebreaker.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Are any of the questions in the board game ones that,
- 2:40Speaker 3: like you're asking us now some board game?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Some of them have been on the show, and some
- 2:44Speaker 1: of them are brand new. And here's my vow to
- 2:47Speaker 1: people who buy the game. I will not use any
- 2:49Speaker 1: of the brand new questions on the show. Ever, So
- 2:51Speaker 1: when you buy this and you get these hundreds of
- 2:53Speaker 1: questions that you've never heard before on the show, they
- 2:55Speaker 1: will stay in there. That's just for you ask for
- 2:57Speaker 1: those questions that have been on the show. You know,
- 3:00Speaker 1: we've learned chester doing this zero Percenter Question of the
- 3:02Speaker 1: Week that people don't retain a lot of this information
- 3:05Speaker 1: after the show is over, So I think they'll find
- 3:07Speaker 1: it even fun to hear some of those again.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's a good mix. It's a good strategy. Spencer,
- 3:12Speaker 2: thank you.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Now Here is our zero Percenter Question of the Week,
- 3:15Speaker 1: which tests how much our players have retained from previous games.
- 3:19Speaker 1: This question was from episode three seventy. The topic was woodsmanship,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and nobody got it right.
- 3:25Speaker 2: What is the.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Phenomenon related to hypothermia victims in which bodies are found
- 3:29Speaker 1: either partially or paradix dressing? Now, Brody, why didn't you
- 3:34Speaker 1: have that answer the day we played?
- 3:35Speaker 4: Because it just like I knew it, but it was
- 3:37Speaker 4: not breaking through the wall.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It came to you so cleanly today. Yeah, not last time. Now,
- 3:42Speaker 1: the correct answer, you'll never forget it again, was paradoxical addressing.
- 3:45Speaker 1: The incorrect answers given were tripping, hysteria and hyper hot tripping.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Interesting stat for you too, the Montana Hunter safety video
- 3:56Speaker 5: that they still play that involves paradoxical undressing, say a
- 4:00Speaker 5: fly fishing guy going up.
- 4:02Speaker 4: So if they'd find people and think they were victims
- 4:04Speaker 4: of sexual abuse, they couldn't figure it out, you know.
- 4:07Speaker 2: They found as much of a fun fact from Brody.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm just telling you, like they didn't know what it was.
- 4:12Speaker 4: There was a time when they didn't know what was
- 4:14Speaker 4: going on.
- 4:14Speaker 2: That key you said, they still play this video.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Is it the one you think you watched when you
- 4:18Speaker 1: were like eleven years old?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 4:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and I met the dude who's in it,
- 4:22Speaker 5: and it was I think a University of Montana project,
- 4:26Speaker 5: like collaboration with FWP. But I think that video is
- 4:31Speaker 5: like in a lot of curriculum still, but it's I
- 4:33Speaker 5: think somebody's fly fishing up and they fall in, they
- 4:37Speaker 5: fill their waiters. It's like a nice spring summer ish day,
- 4:42Speaker 5: and the more they walk, the more they get disoriented.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And Hi Jinks and Sue.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So when you watch that video and Hunter Safety, know
- 4:49Speaker 1: that Cal watched the same one. That's right now for
- 4:53Speaker 1: the housekeeping portion of today's show, I'm going to throw
- 4:55Speaker 1: it to Phil, who has a PSA for us about
- 4:58Speaker 1: show glitches. Phil sometimes get feedback from people saying the
- 5:02Speaker 1: show skipped or cut off a few minutes early, and
- 5:04Speaker 1: it doesn't seem to be limited to just Meat Eater
- 5:07Speaker 1: Trivia or just one platform.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Yeah, so I think this kind of started happening when
- 5:11Speaker 6: we switch to a different ad sort of process and
- 5:14Speaker 6: production called dynamic ad insertion, which is something that a
- 5:17Speaker 6: lot of podcasts use these days, where you'll the ads
- 5:20Speaker 6: will update and refresh based on your location or how
- 5:24Speaker 6: many times a certain ad has played, or what the
- 5:27Speaker 6: network thinks you might be interested in. And because of that,
- 5:30Speaker 6: the file that we put online is constantly being there's
- 5:34Speaker 6: different ads being plugged in and taken out and removed.
- 5:36Speaker 6: So when you're listening to a podcast and it skips
- 5:38Speaker 6: ahead fifteen seconds or skips back twenty seconds, and you're thinking, oh,
- 5:42Speaker 6: it must be you, send me or Spencer an angry
- 5:44Speaker 6: DM saying get your shit together.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Mat at phil at it.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 5:50Speaker 6: That's just because I think the file will sometimes just
- 5:53Speaker 6: change in the middle, and it'll change the length of
- 5:55Speaker 6: the file, and your player doesn't really know how to
- 5:57Speaker 6: react to that, so it just kind of jumps around.
- 5:59Speaker 6: The way to fix that is is to download the file.
- 6:01Speaker 6: So if you're just the kind of person who just
- 6:04Speaker 6: hits the play button on your podcast player and listens
- 6:08Speaker 6: to it without downloading the file onto your phone's hard drive,
- 6:11Speaker 6: that'll open it up to maybe skipping around. But if
- 6:14Speaker 6: you just download the file, every podcast player has an
- 6:17Speaker 6: option to download it. That audio file is baked onto
- 6:20Speaker 6: your phone or your computer high drive or whatever and
- 6:22Speaker 6: can't change, and it won't skip around anymore.
- 6:25Speaker 5: So you're saying user error. If you hit play, you're
- 6:27Speaker 5: signing up for convenience, not quality.
- 6:29Speaker 6: That's right, thank you, Cal.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And we've tested this on a number of phones. It
- 6:32Speaker 1: seems to always fix the problem.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The iHeart download icon is a cloud with a down arrow.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The Spotify download icon is a circle with a down arrow.
- 6:42Speaker 1: For iTunes, you hit the three little buttons that trigger
- 6:45Speaker 1: a drop down menu and then the first result is
- 6:48Speaker 1: download episode. Should solve any show glitch problems. Now, the
- 6:52Speaker 1: Shelby Index for today's round is a four, so our
- 6:55Speaker 1: winner should get eight correct answers. And with that we're
- 6:58Speaker 1: onto the game of trivia.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Play the drop fill.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything?
- 7:07Speaker 1: How's that?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Just tend to win everything?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Demon Suckers? Question one? The topic is hunting. Which of
- 7:23Speaker 1: these states killed the most white tails between twenty fourteen
- 7:28Speaker 1: and twenty eighteen? Is it Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, or Nebraska?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Which of these states killed the most white tails between
- 7:41Speaker 1: twenty fourteen and twenty eighteen. Your four choices are Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and Nebraska. Yanni, how many of those places? Four choices? Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, Nebraska.
- 7:55Speaker 1: How many those places have you hunted?
- 7:57Speaker 7: Deer?
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yanni?
- 7:58Speaker 2: I've hunted water in one of those places.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, Nebraska. Does everybody have an answer?
- 8:09Speaker 7: No?
- 8:11Speaker 2: Who's doing artwork on the back of these things?
- 8:13Speaker 1: It's a it's a mix of a lot of folks.
- 8:16Speaker 1: My wife and I did a lot.
- 8:18Speaker 5: We had had arts and crafts time I did, took
- 8:22Speaker 5: them home at the new Hearth home, took them.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Home, got not sober, and then we doodled on the
- 8:27Speaker 1: back for an evening.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Nice. That's awesome.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Still a pizza, that would be my wife. Wow, that artwork,
- 8:35Speaker 1: cal You're going to see that artwork in Meat Eater
- 8:38Speaker 1: Trivia board game. Uh. The game comes with seven white
- 8:41Speaker 1: boards and we wanted them to look like they came
- 8:44Speaker 1: straight from the Meat Eater studio. So our graphics guy,
- 8:47Speaker 1: Hunter Spencer, pulled these graphics literally from the back of
- 8:50Speaker 1: our white boards that we play on, and they're I'm
- 8:53Speaker 1: now on the back of the whiteboards that you'll get
- 8:55Speaker 1: in the board game.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Is this board game going to be available anywhere? Can
- 9:00Speaker 5: I purchase that?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yeah? Meat Eater's store coming this fall. The go ahead
- 9:08Speaker 1: and reveal your answer. We have Christine saying Illinois, Chester
- 9:13Speaker 1: saying Illinois, Brody sang Missouri. Hillary sang Nebraska, cal saying Missouri,
- 9:19Speaker 1: Randall saying Illinois, Giannis saying Illinois.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I feel like they're all good answers.
- 9:25Speaker 1: The correct answer is Missouri. Brody got it right, Calad
- 9:30Speaker 1: right at sixth in the nation, Missouri is the only
- 9:34Speaker 1: state from that list that's in the top ten for
- 9:37Speaker 1: whitetail harvest. The five ahead of Missouri are Texas, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and Wisconsin. Those other three states, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Nebraska
- 9:47Speaker 1: are places you can watch the Element crew chase white
- 9:49Speaker 1: tails on their new show Buck Truck. New episodes are
- 9:53Speaker 1: on Meat Eaters YouTube channel.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Right now, we gotta talk about what's going on here
- 9:56Speaker 5: right now, Like I feel Randall Williams and this like
- 10:00Speaker 5: downward spirals just gonna say, and he just he he's
- 10:04Speaker 5: been such a consistent winner. He's got one loss here
- 10:07Speaker 5: and it's crushing him.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I wish you could see his face right now. Randall
- 10:12Speaker 1: started off the last game five for five and then
- 10:16Speaker 1: I think he ended how many do you have? Right seven?
- 10:18Speaker 1: At the eight eight. Yeah, couldn't quite pull it off, but.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I mean I he had such a disappointed look on
- 10:25Speaker 3: his face after that last question. I smiled at him
- 10:28Speaker 3: and there was no emotion.
- 10:31Speaker 8: As the stats prove, it's hard to recover from that
- 10:35Speaker 8: important question.
- 10:36Speaker 1: That first question, it's been done though, it's been done,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I'm sure very recently by yours, truly. Yours question to
- 10:44Speaker 1: the topic is conservation. This next great question comes to
- 10:47Speaker 1: us via Adele Tabor. Adele asked for a shout out
- 10:50Speaker 1: to the Mississippi State Wildlife Society Club. They won the
- 10:54Speaker 1: Southeastern Conclave this year. Some big congrats to them. Here
- 10:57Speaker 1: is Adele's question, what does see r P stand for?
- 11:05Speaker 1: What does see r P stand for? Looks like Randall,
- 11:13Speaker 1: Brody and Jannie are going to get this one right.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Brody looks confident. Chester looks like he has a chance.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Are there hints in this game? Okay?
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah? The topic is conservation. This came to us via
- 11:30Speaker 1: a Mississippi State Wildlife Society Club member. If that helps
- 11:34Speaker 1: you at all? What does c r P stand for?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Chester? Your family have cr I can't say anything more's
- 11:46Speaker 2: gonna get.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Hillary. How you doing over there? You have a chance?
- 11:56Speaker 2: Chester?
- 11:57Speaker 1: Are you good? No?
- 11:58Speaker 3: I'm I'm so upset.
- 12:02Speaker 1: The last time I saw you this upset was when
- 12:04Speaker 1: we had the stop aquatic hitchhikers acronym.
- 12:07Speaker 2: That really tore you up.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Chester, We're looking for a clean, drained drive. You were
- 12:14Speaker 1: quite bombed.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you Christine?
- 12:21Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 12:22Speaker 7: Yep?
- 12:23Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Christine without
- 12:26Speaker 1: an answer. Chester saying conservation restoration project. Brody's saying conservation
- 12:33Speaker 1: reserve program. Hillary's saying conservation research program. Ryan saying conservation
- 12:40Speaker 1: reserve program. Randall saying conservation reserve program. Jannis saying the
- 12:47Speaker 1: same thing. They got it right. The correct answer is
- 12:50Speaker 1: Conservation Reserve Program. Congress introduced CRP in nineteen eighty five
- 12:56Speaker 1: when it passed the Farm Bill. It was created because
- 12:59Speaker 1: of concerns about decreased wildlife habitat and increased soil erosion.
- 13:04Speaker 1: There are about twenty million acres enrolled in CRP, making
- 13:08Speaker 1: it one of the largest private land conservation programs in America.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Doesn't that including some of Chester's families.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It does. I think they keep the cap like right
- 13:20Speaker 1: now it's around thirty million, and they're not at their camp.
- 13:23Speaker 1: In the early days the cap was like forty million
- 13:25Speaker 1: and they never hit.
- 13:25Speaker 8: But it has a lot to do with like enrollment
- 13:29Speaker 8: enrollment and doesn't like grain prices.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I think crop rices are a big part.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Yeah, commodities are are a big deal, right, because folks
- 13:36Speaker 5: are trying to get cash out of the ground, and
- 13:40Speaker 5: as those commodities swing, it becomes more tempting to swing
- 13:44Speaker 5: into like a corn or a grain or whatever. But
- 13:48Speaker 5: the CRP program, which is redundant. CRP is in the
- 13:53Speaker 5: farm bill. Another great example as to why the farm
- 13:56Speaker 5: bill matters to you hunters.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Question three, the topic is cooking bone appetite defines this
- 14:06Speaker 1: liquid as what you get when you simmer bones that
- 14:09Speaker 1: still have meat on them in water. Again, the topic
- 14:14Speaker 1: is cooking bone appetite defines this liquid as what you
- 14:18Speaker 1: get when you simmer bones that still have meat on
- 14:21Speaker 1: them in water.
- 14:22Speaker 2: For the first time ever, I was asked this question
- 14:25Speaker 2: just last week.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Weird, yeh, did you get it right?
- 14:29Speaker 2: You know? Okay?
- 14:31Speaker 1: So so you don't think it's even going to help
- 14:35Speaker 1: you here, No, not at all. Again, bone appetite defines
- 14:38Speaker 1: this liquid as what you get when you simmer bones
- 14:42Speaker 1: that still have meat on them in water. Is anybody
- 14:46Speaker 1: confident in their answer?
- 14:48Speaker 2: I'm leaving mine the way it is.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Most folks look like they have a shot, but nobody
- 14:52Speaker 1: is like, yep, I got this one.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Literally, So what's the difference.
- 14:58Speaker 6: I'm like, you're helping some folks out.
- 15:04Speaker 2: It's all right. I mean, it's just a game.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It's right, you know, Yanny, how we doing not?
- 15:08Speaker 4: For Randall, it's not just a game.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I've had a catastrophic eraser failure over here.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Here's the conservation always went on. Sawm a happy camper
- 15:16Speaker 5: in this room.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yanny, how we doing not great?
- 15:23Speaker 2: I think we're kind of running out of time.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Well it looks like the answer.
- 15:29Speaker 4: I think, Sorry, just go a little longer.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Now, I got Brody's ahead by one.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm trying to well, this is question three.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I need it.
- 15:37Speaker 4: I feel like everyone needs a little extra time now.
- 15:39Speaker 3: And then being a nice guy today.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Well, you know, son of a buck.
- 15:46Speaker 4: All right, now he's running out of times.
- 15:47Speaker 2: All right, let's go.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Let's go go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 15:54Speaker 1: Chris say bone broth, Chester saying bone broth, Brody saying come,
- 16:01Speaker 1: Hillary saying stock, Ryan saying bone broth, Randall saying broth.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yanni saying, as the correct answer is broth. If you
- 16:12Speaker 1: said bone broth, we'll give it to you. Oh, you
- 16:15Speaker 1: can have that.
- 16:16Speaker 3: I thought for.
- 16:18Speaker 1: The key difference between a stock and broth is that
- 16:22Speaker 1: stock is made with bones, while broth is made with
- 16:26Speaker 1: bones and meat. Both can include other ingredients like veggies, mushrooms,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and herbs and spices, but a broth is the only
- 16:34Speaker 1: one that has meat in it. They say that for
- 16:37Speaker 1: most recipes that call for stock or broth, the two
- 16:41Speaker 1: are interchangeable.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Here's why the bull apetite.
- 16:46Speaker 5: Where do you go to find completely meatless bones?
- 16:50Speaker 1: It's tough if you wanted to argue that there's no argument.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Where do you go? Name one place I want completely
- 16:57Speaker 2: meatless bones?
- 17:00Speaker 1: All off? So broth question four. The topic is fishing.
- 17:08Speaker 1: This is our listener question of the week, which was
- 17:11Speaker 1: won by Don Hansburger for sending this great question. Don
- 17:15Speaker 1: is going to win a book signed by Steve. This
- 17:19Speaker 1: was declared America's founding fish because it fed George Washington's
- 17:24Speaker 1: army while they were camped on a Delaware River tributary. Okay,
- 17:32Speaker 1: this was declared America's founding fish because it fed George
- 17:36Speaker 1: Washington's army while they were camped on a Delaware River tributary.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I know exactly to be specific.
- 17:43Speaker 1: If you think the answer is their black lab you
- 17:46Speaker 1: could just say labrador.
- 17:48Speaker 2: That's not a fish. I don't that's a hint.
- 17:52Speaker 1: So this was declared America's founding fish because it had
- 18:00Speaker 1: George Washington's army while they were camped on a Delaware
- 18:04Speaker 1: River tributary. Do you still have a problem with more?
- 18:12Speaker 3: See the fire in his eyes?
- 18:14Speaker 2: This might be Spencer's last game.
- 18:16Speaker 1: The last time we had a big fallout was the
- 18:18Speaker 1: Marlins salefish.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Uh ye think that kind of directions direction.
- 18:25Speaker 3: The fish questions coming?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 18:28Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 18:30Speaker 2: I like to just leave them all on there and
- 18:32Speaker 2: cross out your previous Go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 18:35Speaker 1: We have Christine saying catfish, Chester saying Shad, Brody saying Shad,
- 18:41Speaker 1: Hillary saying perch, Ryan saying Shad, Randall saying Shadd, Giannis
- 18:46Speaker 1: saying Shad. They got it. The correct answer is shadd.
- 18:50Speaker 1: There's a very specific type of Shad that fed his army.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So American Shad is what they say. But if you
- 18:56Speaker 1: read some accounts, they'll all say that that's also when
- 18:59Speaker 1: Hickory Shad would have been running the river. So when
- 19:02Speaker 1: they called something, when they call something, America's founding fish.
- 19:06Speaker 1: They're talking about American shad, But as for the shad
- 19:09Speaker 1: run that happened, some say they were probably Hickory shad
- 19:13Speaker 1: as well. Washington's army was camped at Valley Forge in
- 19:17Speaker 1: the winter of seventeen seventy eight during a food shortage.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Soldiers would often go days without eating, leaving the army
- 19:25Speaker 1: on the brink of starvation. But that all changed when
- 19:27Speaker 1: shad started migrating up the Delaware River in biblical proportions.
- 19:32Speaker 1: According to legend, the soldiers netted thousands of pounds of shad,
- 19:36Speaker 1: which got them through their winter famine.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Excavated shad bones at Valley Forge. Yep, that's fun.
- 19:42Speaker 1: They got a lot of those those shad.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of bones.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Question five. The topic is woodsmanship. Name one of the
- 19:52Speaker 1: three states with the most fatal snake bites since the
- 19:56Speaker 1: year two thousand. Name one of the three states with
- 20:02Speaker 1: the most fatal snake bites since the year two thousand.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Fatal Wow.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Room is slow to answer this one. Look torn again.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Topic is woodsmanship. Name one of the three states with
- 20:19Speaker 1: the most fatal snake bites since the year two thousand.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Hillary with the quickest answer Hillary, are you going to
- 20:27Speaker 1: get this one out of how many? Do you say?
- 20:30Speaker 1: One out of three states?
- 20:34Speaker 2: Forty eight states?
- 20:35Speaker 3: In contention to the probably can't answer this. Humans are
- 20:42Speaker 3: like it's like dogs humans.
- 20:44Speaker 1: It's not ye not cottontail rabbits would change your answer.
- 20:49Speaker 2: No, I'm just curious kangaroo rats.
- 20:52Speaker 1: How do you feel about your answer? Chester? You have
- 20:54Speaker 1: a chance, Yeah, I probably have a chance.
- 20:56Speaker 3: It's a gas.
- 20:57Speaker 1: But are you satisfied with your answer?
- 21:01Speaker 2: No, I'm not playing math.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Christine, are you ready go ahead and reveal your answer?
- 21:06Speaker 1: We have Christine saying Texas. Chester, You're saying Florida. Brody's
- 21:11Speaker 1: saying Arizona. Hillary sang New Mexico, cal saying Texas, Randall
- 21:17Speaker 1: saying Texas. Giannis San Texas. The three states are Georgia, Texas,
- 21:24Speaker 1: and Florida.
- 21:25Speaker 7: Ooh.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Chester.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Georgia is first.
- 21:28Speaker 1: In America with six fatal snake bites in the last
- 21:32Speaker 1: twenty three years. That's followed by Texas with five and
- 21:35Speaker 1: Florida with four. Kentucky actually led the nation in fatal
- 21:39Speaker 1: snake bites in the nineteen nineties with three such events.
- 21:44Speaker 1: In each instance, the victim was handling the snake during
- 21:47Speaker 1: a religious service. Melinda Brown was killed by a rattlesnake
- 21:51Speaker 1: during a snake handling service in nineteen ninety five. Her husband,
- 21:56Speaker 1: John Wayne Brown died the same exact way three years later.
- 22:01Speaker 4: You're talking about single digits. It's so low that's not
- 22:05Speaker 4: really that significant no matter what state it is.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Just goes to show you.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Mexico, Bill, we are halfway through the game of trivia.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Give us a scoreboard update.
- 22:19Speaker 2: But it's like one of the least populated states. So
- 22:21Speaker 2: that's it feel to burn.
- 22:26Speaker 6: You've got Hillary with zero points in the last place
- 22:29Speaker 6: right in the caboose. We've got Christine coming up next
- 22:31Speaker 6: with two points. Jannis, Chester and Brody all have three points.
- 22:36Speaker 6: Randall has four. Ryan Callahan is in first place with
- 22:39Speaker 6: the perfect game five.
- 22:43Speaker 1: It's happened last game to question six. The topic is
- 22:58Speaker 1: public land. This next great question comes to is via
- 23:01Speaker 1: Nathan Ron. If you have a question you think is
- 23:03Speaker 1: right for med Eater Trivia, you can send it to
- 23:05Speaker 1: trivia at the medeater dot com. What federal agency manages
- 23:10Speaker 1: national seashores and national lake shores? What federal agency manages
- 23:18Speaker 1: national seashores and national lake shores? Brody with the quickest
- 23:24Speaker 1: answer in the room, Brody, are you confident?
- 23:28Speaker 4: Kind of yeah?
- 23:29Speaker 1: I just had a gut feeling. Didn't know it though? Again,
- 23:32Speaker 1: what federal agency manages national seashores and national lake shores? Randall?
- 23:40Speaker 1: You also had a quick answer. Do you think you
- 23:41Speaker 1: have this one? Have it too in mind? Has anybody
- 23:47Speaker 1: visited a national seashore or national lakeshore that they're aware of?
- 23:51Speaker 4: I think there's one on Padre Island in Texas.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I think that's gonna help you.
- 23:56Speaker 4: It's not gonna change my answer.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Chincatigue Island?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Is that one?
- 24:06Speaker 2: A lot of wild horses there, gonna have a good guess?
- 24:10Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 24:11Speaker 7: No?
- 24:11Speaker 1: I do not.
- 24:14Speaker 2: You know that we have a lot of dog food?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Say that again, cal if wishes were ponies, we'd have
- 24:22Speaker 2: a lot of dog food. Do we not have a
- 24:25Speaker 2: lot of dog food? Well, we have more, we would
- 24:29Speaker 2: have more.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Okay, Chester, how we doing?
- 24:33Speaker 3: Not good?
- 24:34Speaker 1: Charine?
- 24:36Speaker 2: Terrible?
- 24:37Speaker 1: Are we ready?
- 24:39Speaker 2: What's terrible is unregulated wild horses? Described? Hillary?
- 24:46Speaker 1: How we doing?
- 24:47Speaker 2: I'm good? I just there's I don't know. Go ahead
- 24:50Speaker 2: and reveal your answers.
- 24:51Speaker 1: We have Christine saying d N R. Chester saying, Department
- 24:55Speaker 1: of Natural Resources, go to you, saying National Park Service.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Hiller saying National Park Service, Cal saying bo R. Randall
- 25:05Speaker 1: saying National Park Service. Jannis saying BLM. The correct answer
- 25:12Speaker 1: is National Park Service. Throws Cal's perfect game out the window.
- 25:18Speaker 1: The National Seashore System was established in the nineteen thirties,
- 25:22Speaker 1: and the National Lakeshore System became an extension of that
- 25:26Speaker 1: in the nineteen sixties. There are ten National Seashores and
- 25:30Speaker 1: four National Lakeshores. The goal of these areas is to
- 25:33Speaker 1: create places for public recreation and protect them from development.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Question seven, the topic is wildlife. This is a visual question.
- 25:44Speaker 1: If you want to see what the room is seeing,
- 25:46Speaker 1: then go to Instagram and check out at Spencer Newhart.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'll make it my most recent post. Now, I am
- 25:52Speaker 1: going to show the room a thirty second clip that
- 25:56Speaker 1: was used to promote a nineteen ninety six documentary. Here's
- 26:00Speaker 1: the prompt. The suit this man is wearing was designed
- 26:04Speaker 1: to withstand an attack from what animal.
- 26:08Speaker 7: To prove his theory that the suit does in fact
- 26:10Speaker 7: work hurt you, bees risked his life and put it
- 26:13Speaker 7: through test after test. First, he shot the suit with
- 26:18Speaker 7: a twelve gage shotgun. Then he launched a three hundred
- 26:23Speaker 7: pound log dead center towards his chest.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Is that dedication or is he simply nuts? And if
- 26:34Speaker 2: that's not.
- 26:34Speaker 7: Crazy enough, he had a three ton truck ram right
- 26:38Speaker 7: into him at a speed of thirty miles per hour. Well,
- 26:42Speaker 7: he was having so much fun he decided to toss
- 26:45Speaker 7: himself down a ravine.
- 26:47Speaker 2: All this without a scratch.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Oh that's great.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that hadn't hurt jew for sure.
- 26:57Speaker 2: You're live. Wait till you hear the little follow up. Yeah,
- 27:02Speaker 2: it's very interesting.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Again the prompt here is the suit this man is
- 27:06Speaker 1: wearing was designed to withstand an attack from what animal? Yanna?
- 27:14Speaker 1: You know this one? Yes, Randall, you know this one?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Cal you know this one?
- 27:20Speaker 6: No?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Yes, sir Oka, Brody you know this one? Who has
- 27:24Speaker 1: seen this documentary? Randall, Cal and Brody. Okay, it's everybody ready,
- 27:32Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Christine saying
- 27:35Speaker 1: grizzly chess. You're saying grizzly, Brody's saying grizzly, grizzly, grizzly.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Everybody said grizzly bear, and everybody got it right, Well done.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I had no idea, But that man was Troy Hurt
- 27:49Speaker 1: You Beast, and he was filming the documentary Project Grizzly.
- 27:53Speaker 1: His goal was to make a grizzly proof suit, which
- 27:56Speaker 1: he modeled after RoboCop and spent one hundred and fifty
- 27:59Speaker 1: thousand dollars building. Hurt You Beat doesn't test it on
- 28:03Speaker 1: a bear in the film, but did get a chance
- 28:06Speaker 1: five years later when he locked himself in a cage
- 28:08Speaker 1: with a Grizzly. The bear was actually too scared to attack,
- 28:12Speaker 1: bringing him to the conclusion that the suit needed to
- 28:15Speaker 1: look more human. Well, didn't he try to get attack,
- 28:19Speaker 1: but he was to get into places where bears were. Yeah,
- 28:23Speaker 1: so I think his uh, his biggest issue was they
- 28:25Speaker 1: went to the Rockies in October to try to find
- 28:28Speaker 1: a bear to attack him, and they never found a bear.
- 28:30Speaker 4: And wasn't my correction, wasn't his inspiration for building the
- 28:34Speaker 4: suit the fact that he had gotten attacked by a bear.
- 28:37Speaker 1: It was that he wanted to be study bear. He
- 28:39Speaker 1: wanted to study them up close, and so that was
- 28:41Speaker 1: the whole deal with the suit.
- 28:42Speaker 4: And then he couldn't get one to attack, couldn't get one.
- 28:44Speaker 5: But he had one scary night in a tent that's
- 28:46Speaker 5: written about in Night of the Grizzly where he has
- 28:49Speaker 5: a twenty two on him and he fills his tent
- 28:50Speaker 5: full of twenty two holes perforates his tent rather and.
- 28:54Speaker 2: It has done that.
- 28:55Speaker 8: The point of the whole point of the documentary thing
- 28:58Speaker 8: is like he thought. I think he believed that this
- 29:01Speaker 8: was a very serious documentary. Yes, him, and I don't
- 29:05Speaker 8: think the people who are filming it felt the same way.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Now he was. He was very upset that he was
- 29:11Speaker 1: made to look like the silly Canadian who built the
- 29:13Speaker 1: robocopsuit to get attacked.
- 29:16Speaker 2: But I just don't go outside.
- 29:19Speaker 1: That was his whole shtick as an inventor, Like he
- 29:22Speaker 1: wanted to invent a suit that he begged them to
- 29:25Speaker 1: drop him in the middle of Afghanistan during the war
- 29:28Speaker 1: and was like, just let let me do it like
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'll it's uh, my ass is on the line, and
- 29:32Speaker 1: I want to prove to you how uh you know
- 29:35Speaker 1: warproof this suit is that he built. And I think
- 29:38Speaker 1: he went bankrupt multiple times with these crazy inventions.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Sounds fun though.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Question eight the topic is biology. This next great question
- 29:47Speaker 1: comes to is via Kelsey Blaha. If you have a
- 29:49Speaker 1: question you think is right for meat Eater Trivia. You
- 29:51Speaker 1: can send it to trivia at the meadeater dot com.
- 29:54Speaker 1: It'd be fun to drive that truck.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Why then be scared? That's your takeaway from that?
- 30:03Speaker 1: What continent is the venus fly trap native to? Again?
- 30:09Speaker 1: The topic is biology. What continent is the venus fly
- 30:13Speaker 1: trap native to? Randall? You look the most confident, but
- 30:22Speaker 1: not even very confident. Are you gonna get this one right?
- 30:26Speaker 1: How many are there to choose from?
- 30:29Speaker 2: See it still seven?
- 30:31Speaker 1: Okay? Again? What continent is the venus fly trap native to?
- 30:38Speaker 2: My mom bought me one of these when I was
- 30:39Speaker 2: a kid.
- 30:40Speaker 1: How'd that go? And?
- 30:41Speaker 2: I think we were in Billings at the time. Oh
- 30:47Speaker 2: they're sweet, man, They're super cool.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Brody, how are we doing?
- 30:53Speaker 4: I haven't written anything down yet.
- 30:54Speaker 1: This is question eight. We will get a scoreboard update
- 30:58Speaker 1: from Phil after this is everybody ready, go ahead and
- 31:04Speaker 1: reveal your answer. We have Christine saying South America. Chest
- 31:08Speaker 1: you're saying South America, Brody saying South America, Hillary saying
- 31:12Speaker 1: South America, cal and Randall saying South America. Yannis sang
- 31:18Speaker 1: North America.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Because we have pitcher plants and fly traps in Florida. Correct.
- 31:24Speaker 1: The correct answer is North America.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Most don't realize that the exotic looking venus flytrap is
- 31:33Speaker 1: actually native to North America. Although they're cultivated around the world,
- 31:38Speaker 1: their native range is just a small area in North
- 31:41Speaker 1: and South Carolina. The plants are heavily protected, and in
- 31:45Speaker 1: twenty fourteen it became a felony to poach them. Their
- 31:48Speaker 1: populations have been in decline due to habitat loss and
- 31:52Speaker 1: fire suppression.
- 31:54Speaker 2: So reason North Carolina connection comes through.
- 31:57Speaker 1: So you knew that one for certain.
- 32:01Speaker 2: I've seen him in the wild and really and so
- 32:04Speaker 2: I just thought that probably that was right.
- 32:07Speaker 1: It's amazing. I love that they're native to you still
- 32:10Speaker 1: fingers mm hmm, Phil. We have two questions left. Where
- 32:15Speaker 1: does the scoreboard stand?
- 32:17Speaker 6: It's a pretty good game, I think. Okay, so Hillary
- 32:21Speaker 6: and Christine are the only two who are technically out,
- 32:26Speaker 6: but please continue to play. Then we have Chester with
- 32:30Speaker 6: four points, Brody and Giannis with five, and Callen Randall
- 32:34Speaker 6: are tied up with six points in first place.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Two questions left.
- 32:41Speaker 2: To take a big swing here.
- 32:42Speaker 1: The topic is cooking. Southern Living declared this the official
- 32:47Speaker 1: sandwich of Louisiana, which can be made with red meat,
- 32:50Speaker 1: white meat, or seafood. Change Southern Living declared this the
- 32:57Speaker 1: official sandwich of Louisiana, which can be made with red meat,
- 33:01Speaker 1: white meat, or seafood.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Hillary, I already have.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Confident room except for Yanni and Christine.
- 33:17Speaker 2: My track coach called me burner really sweet. That's great.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Different connotations as you get older, Yes, yeah, yeah, depending
- 33:28Speaker 2: on where.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Yanni, how we doing over here?
- 33:33Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with my gut.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 33:39Speaker 1: Christine without an answer. The rest of the room said
- 33:43Speaker 1: po boy, and they got it right. The correct answer
- 33:45Speaker 1: was po boy. The po Boy sandwich was invented in
- 33:48Speaker 1: Louisiana in the nineteen twenties. The original version was made
- 33:52Speaker 1: with fried potatoes and sliced roast beef, but other iterations
- 33:57Speaker 1: use chicken, shrimp, oysters, and more. Cross If you want
- 34:00Speaker 1: to learn how to make one, then go to the
- 34:02Speaker 1: mediater dot com and check out our recipe called catfish
- 34:05Speaker 1: pole Boy.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Phil, how are we doing on the scores? Cal you
- 34:10Speaker 2: gotta take that spencer.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I'm perfectly happy with it.
- 34:13Speaker 2: All right.
- 34:14Speaker 6: Well, now it's Strandle and col still in first place
- 34:18Speaker 6: with seven points, and Jannis and Brody have six.
- 34:21Speaker 2: We're still playing.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Chance tiebreaker.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Question ten.
- 34:27Speaker 1: The topic is conservation. Game Ardens from two states are
- 34:32Speaker 1: the focus of Animal Planets Show, north Woods Law name
- 34:36Speaker 1: one of those states.
- 34:39Speaker 2: That ain't gonna change anything.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Game.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Ardans from two states are the focus of Animal Planets Show,
- 34:47Speaker 1: north Woods Law. Name one of those states. Brody, you're
- 34:50Speaker 1: very confident in your answer.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Have you seen this show?
- 34:55Speaker 1: No?
- 34:55Speaker 2: But I'm like, you're just going You're just going by
- 34:59Speaker 2: north Woods the cat Glory's television conservation You're so, I think, so.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Cal do you have this?
- 35:10Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 35:11Speaker 5: I've never never seen the show, but I do I
- 35:13Speaker 5: am aware of several states where these shows have been filmed.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Tell the question again?
- 35:20Speaker 1: Is the question again? Game? Wardens from two states are
- 35:24Speaker 1: the focus of Animal Planets Show, north Woods Law name
- 35:29Speaker 1: one of those states.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Randall has seen several films on the subject. I know episodes.
- 35:38Speaker 1: You watched the show, rand Same, Yeah, not, I mean
- 35:42Speaker 1: not recently. It's not a favorite, Janny, how do you
- 35:45Speaker 1: feel about your an.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Educated guests?
- 35:49Speaker 1: Spencer, is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 35:53Speaker 1: We have Christine saying Texas, Chester saying Montana, Brody saying Maine,
- 35:59Speaker 1: Hillardy Say saying Montana, Cal sang Maine, Randall sayg Maine.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Jannis sang Maine. The two states are New Hampshire and Maine,
- 36:09Speaker 1: which means we're going to a tiebreaker. Cal and Randall
- 36:13Speaker 1: are tied at eight points a piece.
- 36:15Speaker 3: So they used to have it with a lot of
- 36:17Speaker 3: Montana game.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Well, no, that's a different show that's on the Outdoor Network.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I believe it's called Wardens, which is in Montana.
- 36:23Speaker 2: And then they're troopers up in Alaska.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Right, It's like Alaska State Troopers, and that's that's that's
- 36:29Speaker 1: beyond the scope of just hunting and fishing violations. But yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 1: it's similar kind.
- 36:34Speaker 5: When I went out to Shiloh Pond for our land
- 36:37Speaker 5: Access initiative, I met with Warden out there, who was
- 36:41Speaker 5: featured on north Woods Law.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Were you featured on the show?
- 36:46Speaker 2: No, you can't see my hands in my back.
- 36:49Speaker 1: The north Woods Law started in twenty twelve and completed
- 36:52Speaker 1: its sixteenth season in twenty twenty one. The beginning of
- 36:56Speaker 1: the series focuses on Maine, while the latter half is
- 36:59Speaker 1: shown in New Hampshire. It also inspired a spin off
- 37:03Speaker 1: show called Lone Star Law, which was filmed in Texas
- 37:06Speaker 1: from twenty sixteen to twenty twenty.
- 37:09Speaker 4: I wonder do those fishing game departments get compensated for
- 37:12Speaker 4: doing those shows, like you'd think they would have to.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I bet I think would have to think some way.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we're onto our tiebreaker. Play the tiebreaker, drop phil
- 37:24Speaker 1: type breaker last.
- 37:27Speaker 6: I think just cut it at if you ain't first
- 37:30Speaker 6: your last, and then like going to other stuff.
- 37:32Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I never liked it a Phil off man.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Are we did the communist rule get tossed out.
- 37:40Speaker 1: So here's what we determined we're going to do. Everyone
- 37:43Speaker 1: in the room should still play along, and if somebody
- 37:45Speaker 1: hits it right on the nose, we will add an
- 37:47Speaker 1: extra hundred dollars donation at the end of the show.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Here's the question again.
- 37:52Speaker 1: We're down to Cal and Randall. The topic is fishing.
- 37:58Speaker 1: This will be a numerical question. Whoever is closest between
- 38:00Speaker 1: the two will be declared the winner.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I've gotten zero percent of name this fishing lure questions?
- 38:08Speaker 1: What percentage of I g f A records have been
- 38:12Speaker 1: caught by women who what percentage ultiple IGF A records
- 38:20Speaker 1: have been caught by women?
- 38:21Speaker 2: Decimal point?
- 38:22Speaker 1: Go to a decimal point. What percentage of I g
- 38:30Speaker 1: f A records have been caught by women? Again, we're
- 38:33Speaker 1: down to Cal and Randall. The rest of the room
- 38:36Speaker 1: is going to play along to see if we can
- 38:38Speaker 1: add an extra hundred dollars to this donation.
- 38:40Speaker 2: This is a real, real pr issue right here is
- 38:45Speaker 2: what's what's the problem? Cal?
- 38:47Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I'm gonna be like, oh, I know
- 38:54Speaker 5: many damn fine female anglers out there.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I noticed you have to come up with Cal. Are
- 39:04Speaker 1: your answer from Cal quite visible?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Neither of them thinking in our own separate ways. If
- 39:13Speaker 2: neither of us answer refused, can we get.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Another percentage of I g f A records have been
- 39:21Speaker 1: caught by women?
- 39:24Speaker 2: They don't have gender specific cat like a men's large
- 39:28Speaker 2: mouth and a women's large mouth.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Not giving any hints about this, questions what percentage of
- 39:33Speaker 1: I g f A records have been caught by women?
- 39:38Speaker 2: Well? How up to date is this?
- 39:39Speaker 5: Because I just saw something with a lady with a
- 39:41Speaker 5: giant bass from Texas today?
- 39:44Speaker 1: You think that might sway it?
- 39:47Speaker 4: New world record potential, new world record.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Lake trout got caught in Colorado, So I guess those two.
- 39:54Speaker 2: So that is out. These two players have still not
- 39:58Speaker 2: came up with an answer.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Let's just my math, Randal, how are we doing?
- 40:03Speaker 2: Randall thinks it's a trick question. No, I just I
- 40:07Speaker 2: don't even know where to start.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Does anybody know how start a number between one and
- 40:12Speaker 4: one hundred?
- 40:12Speaker 2: What's today's date?
- 40:16Speaker 5: Good question, Cal, how's your answer? Okay, yeah, based off
- 40:22Speaker 5: of what I know. Meat eaters metrics are.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Randall? Do you have an answer? Yes, go ahead and
- 40:31Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Christine saying three percent, Chester
- 40:36Speaker 1: is saying twenty two point seven percent, Brody saying nine
- 40:41Speaker 1: point four percent, Hillary saying twenty three point three, Jannis
- 40:46Speaker 1: saying ten point one, and the two competitors left. We
- 40:49Speaker 1: have Cal saying eleven point five, Randall saying twenty nine
- 40:54Speaker 1: point eight. One of you is within one percentage point
- 40:59Speaker 1: of the correct The winner is Randall. The correct answer
- 41:04Speaker 1: was twenty nine percent.
- 41:06Speaker 2: God, you have no idea how much it means to me.
- 41:10Speaker 1: That number is in alignment with what you'd expect. Given
- 41:13Speaker 1: that about thirty one percent of anglers are women, that's
- 41:17Speaker 1: just a two percent difference between the representation on the
- 41:20Speaker 1: water and in the record book.
- 41:23Speaker 5: I was at a conservation fundraiser deal last weekend and
- 41:28Speaker 5: a fella came up to me. I was like, you
- 41:32Speaker 5: gotta start doing better at trivia, and I said, man,
- 41:37Speaker 5: you just don't understand that there's people in the room
- 41:41Speaker 5: who have a noticeable palpable physical need to win. Who
- 41:49Speaker 5: at one of those people?
- 41:51Speaker 1: Who are those people? Cal?
- 41:53Speaker 2: Well, they reveal themselves from Come on, Cal time to time.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Steve Brody and Randall?
- 42:03Speaker 1: Randall, you get to choose where the five hundred dollars
- 42:06Speaker 1: donation goes. So what's it going to be?
- 42:09Speaker 2: How about the land access to initiative?
- 42:11Speaker 1: Okay, we haven't given to them in a while. Yeah, Cal,
- 42:14Speaker 1: how is the LAI doing in twenty twenty three?
- 42:17Speaker 5: We still got some cash in the pot, which is sweet.
- 42:20Speaker 5: And yeah, there's there's plenty of projects so also have
- 42:27Speaker 5: access to a bunch of matching funds, which is really interesting.
- 42:31Speaker 1: So it's great.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Fine, we can turn our seventy into a couple million, probably.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Projects in Maine and Montana. So far we'll have a
- 42:41Speaker 1: third project what at the end of this year, beginning
- 42:43Speaker 1: of next year? Yeah, yeah, more on that soon. Join
- 42:48Speaker 1: us next time for more meat Eatter Trivia, the only
- 42:51Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Thanks Spencer, good game, Randall,
