- 0:00Speaker 1: Craig Wade, joined by the producer Cameron Parker. Glad to
- 0:02Speaker 1: have you with us as well. We earlier visit with
- 0:07Speaker 1: Greg Tepper, managing EDR Dave Campbells Texas Football Magazine to
- 0:09Speaker 1: talking about college football in the state of Texas. It was,
- 0:12Speaker 1: as he said, that was a big win for Baylor.
- 0:14Speaker 1: They've won three in a row now, so now they're
- 0:16Speaker 1: five and four, three and three in the Big Twelve.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And TCU, which has been slumping of late, as five
- 0:23Speaker 1: and four and three and three, there's going to be
- 0:24Speaker 1: a get well game for somebody this week, either tc
- 0:26Speaker 1: or Oklahoma State. And Oklahoma State, as I read that
- 0:30Speaker 1: story earlier, is now three and six. They've lost all
- 0:37Speaker 1: six Big Twelve games, and Mike Gundy took to kind
- 0:41Speaker 1: of finger pointing at his fans for finger pointing at
- 0:45Speaker 1: them for the program falling.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Oh boy. And so they'll play.
- 0:51Speaker 1: In Fort Worth on Saturday, and Oklahoma State has no
- 0:55Speaker 1: margin left for error left. They have to win the
- 0:58Speaker 1: remaining three games to get Bowl l eligible or they
- 1:00Speaker 1: will be non Bowl eligible for the first time in
- 1:03Speaker 1: like nineteen years. TCU needs one more win to get
- 1:07Speaker 1: Bowl eligible. There's that so anyway, there's some of those now.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I ran over some of this trade deadline stuff. Marcus
- 1:19Speaker 1: Lattimore going to the Commanders from the Saints. He's been
- 1:22Speaker 1: banged up, but that definitely could help them. Mike Williams
- 1:25Speaker 1: the receiver going to Pittsburgh. And they also got Preston
- 1:32Speaker 1: Smith from the Packers for help along the defensive front,
- 1:35Speaker 1: so I think that probably helps them. The Rams traded
- 1:38Speaker 1: a corner in Tredavious White who hadn't really played for
- 1:41Speaker 1: them this year. He'd been banged up and they picked
- 1:43Speaker 1: him up from Buffalo, but he hadn't really done anything
- 1:46Speaker 1: for them. Kitchens is the guy who's really done stuff.
- 1:49Speaker 1: He had the two interceptions the other including that one
- 1:52Speaker 1: hundred three yard pick six with the NFC West is
- 1:56Speaker 1: just a mess, isn't it. With the Cardinals one of
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Bears on Sunday, so they're leading.
- 2:02Speaker 3: They're five and four for the first time since twenty
- 2:06Speaker 3: twenty one.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Wow, And then you have the the Rams are four
- 2:10Speaker 1: and four. What the forty nine ers are four and
- 2:12Speaker 1: four and the Seahawks are four and five.
- 2:15Speaker 3: They've lost two straight and things are things are starting
- 2:18Speaker 3: to fall off the rails there and that one there
- 2:22Speaker 3: only came back for him, came out of first.
- 2:24Speaker 2: That's the whole point of that deal.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And again, we do this every week, so I'm gonna
- 2:28Speaker 1: do it to you right now, Cam and say, if
- 2:31Speaker 1: AFC Buffalo is seven and two, Jets three and six,
- 2:37Speaker 1: Dolphins two and six, Patriots two and seven, do you
- 2:42Speaker 1: see anybody other than Buffalo getting into the postseason?
- 2:45Speaker 3: I think I said, maybe Miami, New York. I think
- 2:48Speaker 3: I'm just gonna go Buffalo. Okay, all right, Buffalo.
- 2:51Speaker 1: In the North, Pittsburgh is six and two, Baltimore six
- 2:54Speaker 1: and three, Cincinnati's four and five after getting thumped by
- 2:57Speaker 1: the Eagles, and the Browns are two and seven.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I think, obviously you're gonna put Pittsburgh and Baltimore in there.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I think since he maybe as that seventh seed, perhaps.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 3:07Speaker 1: In the South you have Houston six and three, the
- 3:09Speaker 1: Colts four and five, Titans two and six, Jacks two
- 3:12Speaker 1: and seven, I think just the Texans right now, okay.
- 3:15Speaker 1: And then in the West you have the Chiefs eight
- 3:17Speaker 1: and oh, Chargers five and three, Broncos five and four,
- 3:21Speaker 1: Raiders two and.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Seven, Chiefs obviously, and then you think one of those
- 3:26Speaker 3: Chargers of Broncos teams will make it. So I think
- 3:29Speaker 3: with that, you got what that would be seven if
- 3:31Speaker 3: you get one of those two. Yeah, so seven with
- 3:34Speaker 3: the Bengals. Okay, So I think I feel good about that. Okay,
- 3:36Speaker 3: feel good about that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: NFC, Hey, Commanders are seven and two, three, Eagles are
- 3:42Speaker 1: six and two, Cowboys three and five, and the Giants
- 3:45Speaker 1: two and.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Seven, probably the Commanders and Eagles.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Okay, North Lions seven and one for the first time
- 3:51Speaker 1: since nineteen fifty six, Vikings are six and two, Packers
- 3:55Speaker 1: six and three, Bears four and four.
- 3:57Speaker 3: You gotta go to like Lions obviously Vikings and then
- 4:00Speaker 3: probably the Packers. So that's that's three layoff teams right there,
- 4:03Speaker 3: just like the AFC North perhaps.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Okay, so that's five.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Now South Falcons are six and three, Bucks four and five,
- 4:11Speaker 1: Panthers two and seven, Saints.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Two and so you think with this three game losing
- 4:14Speaker 3: strenk for Tampa Bay, I mean, I think I would
- 4:18Speaker 3: have gone for two last night, Craig before overtime. You know,
- 4:21Speaker 3: when you're on the road, go for two. When you're
- 4:23Speaker 3: at home, pick the extra point. I think Atline is
- 4:25Speaker 3: gonna run away with this division and then in yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 3: just the Falconka and.
- 4:29Speaker 1: In the West Cards five and four Rams, four and
- 4:33Speaker 1: four Niners, four and four Seahawks.
- 4:35Speaker 2: For I have no idea. I really don't.
- 4:37Speaker 1: The division winner, we'll get the we'll get the last
- 4:40Speaker 1: remaining playoff spot that you're mentioning there.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I mean, out of those four teams, only San Francisco
- 4:45Speaker 3: has a positive point differential. Now the three teams negative
- 4:49Speaker 3: RAMS minus twenty four.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I didn't really they took. They took some beads earlier
- 4:54Speaker 1: the team.
- 4:54Speaker 3: If McCaffrey comes back and Deebo gets healthy, I think
- 4:57Speaker 3: San Francisco can do it. But if they don't, I
- 5:00Speaker 3: feel good about your Rams, Craig. I mean Stafford. The
- 5:03Speaker 3: throw Stafford made in that game were diabolical. I mean
- 5:06Speaker 3: that last throw when it looked like it was gonna
- 5:09Speaker 3: be intercepted by the Seahawks dB. I think it was
- 5:12Speaker 3: the Marcus Robinson or the too he's the receiver, Yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 3: he was a receiver. Yeah, he came in and that
- 5:17Speaker 3: that was a beautiful ball. And then of course the
- 5:19Speaker 3: game winner of the Robinson as well, also just a
- 5:21Speaker 3: fantastic throw.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So one of those are going to make that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I just just want to still know that that minus
- 5:28Speaker 1: twenty four for the Rams thirty one. They were a
- 5:30Speaker 1: minus thirty. Remember they got beat by the Cardinals forty
- 5:32Speaker 1: one to ten in Arizona. And the Rams still ever
- 5:37Speaker 1: rematch with him. They still have to play in Santa
- 5:40Speaker 1: Clara against the forty nine ers and they have the
- 5:41Speaker 1: Seahawks at home, so they they think that's going to
- 5:44Speaker 1: go down into the last week.
- 5:45Speaker 2: There'll be a survivor out of that deal.
- 5:47Speaker 3: That last playoff spot would be like trying to figure
- 5:50Speaker 3: out the SEC tie breakers for the conference championship game.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Just good luck.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, And there's a lot of folks trying to figure
- 5:59Speaker 1: that out. And I've mentioned that, you know it, it
- 6:06Speaker 1: can change over time. I know what it looks like
- 6:10Speaker 1: if it were to end right now, but it can
- 6:13Speaker 1: change depending on how teams finish and what their strength
- 6:16Speaker 1: to schedule looks like, and what and what the other
- 6:19Speaker 1: team's common opponents did down the stretch. That's why it's
- 6:26Speaker 1: up in the air right now. That's why there's not
- 6:30Speaker 1: a you know, a clear thing. I think it's pretty
- 6:34Speaker 1: safe to say. I think a lot of folks figure
- 6:36Speaker 1: that George is going to get in there as long
- 6:38Speaker 1: as they don't lose it Ole Miss or lose it
- 6:39Speaker 1: home to Tennessee. You know, and they played Georgia Tech.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's rivalry games. They should be able to handle their
- 6:45Speaker 1: business on that.
- 6:46Speaker 3: If George and LSU win this weekend, it's it's a
- 6:49Speaker 3: clearer picture. They're the front runners. But if Georgia loses,
- 6:52Speaker 3: now you got a two loss Georgia team.
- 6:54Speaker 2: If if l.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Shue loses the Bama then now you have a two
- 6:57Speaker 3: loss LSU team, in a two loss Alabama team, two
- 7:01Speaker 3: loss Georgia team, hopefully a one lost Texas team, a
- 7:05Speaker 3: one loss A and M team. It's gonna get crazy,
- 7:08Speaker 3: but we'll have a better picture after this week.
- 7:11Speaker 1: That's true, it'll and we post these questions that had
- 7:16Speaker 1: their dinnige.
- 7:16Speaker 2: But who's the best one loss team? You think it's
- 7:18Speaker 2: Ohio State? I do.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I think it's Georgia. Oh that's right, you said Georgia.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I'm sorry, you think Georgia is the best one lost team. Okay?
- 7:28Speaker 1: And you know, and here's another question. This is this
- 7:33Speaker 1: is worth discussing. Where are the second best teams from
- 7:38Speaker 1: the ACC and the Big twelve?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Do they exist? Well?
- 7:42Speaker 1: I think the ACC is easier to figure out, because
- 7:46Speaker 1: I think the top two have separated themselves now because
- 7:49Speaker 1: of Clemson's loss to Louisville, and it's a downhill run
- 7:54Speaker 1: for SMU to get to Charlotte for the a SEC
- 7:57Speaker 1: Championship game, and I think it's a downhill run for Miami.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So I think that that's gonna be your top two.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Although not only did Heather Dinich project this, but I
- 8:07Speaker 1: think the athletic projected that in these first standings that
- 8:12Speaker 1: are gonna be released tonight, SMU will not be in
- 8:15Speaker 1: the top twelve.
- 8:17Speaker 2: For that, they still have some work to do.
- 8:18Speaker 1: They're gonna have to win the ACC pretty much, or
- 8:22Speaker 1: you know, went out and then maybe get some help
- 8:25Speaker 1: to be considered an at large, went out and win
- 8:27Speaker 1: the ACC, they're gonna get in the playoff, although if
- 8:31Speaker 1: that happens, there's a decent chance the Boise may be
- 8:37Speaker 1: rated higher than an ACC champion SMU and boys. He
- 8:41Speaker 1: would get a boy and then SMU would you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: would be in the playoff, but they wouldn't get a
- 8:47Speaker 1: buy that first week. So but she asked the question,
- 8:50Speaker 1: second best teams in the ACC in the Big twelve,
- 8:53Speaker 1: and she said with with Iowa stayed in Kansas State
- 8:55Speaker 1: losing on Saturday, the Big Twelves chance to send multiple
- 8:59Speaker 1: teams to the playoff off dropped from forty eight percent
- 9:04Speaker 1: to twenty three percent. The ACC still has a fifty
- 9:08Speaker 1: five percent chance to send two teams to the playoff
- 9:11Speaker 1: based on a strong season so far from SMU, which
- 9:14Speaker 1: is helping compensate for Clemson's loss. So how impressed as
- 9:17Speaker 1: the committee been with SMU to this point? Or two
- 9:20Speaker 1: lost Colorado, which could still win the Big Twelve, Keep
- 9:24Speaker 1: that in mind. Remember Colorado, I think closes the regular season.
- 9:31Speaker 2: It's pretty favorableok I just looked. It's like Utah, they
- 9:34Speaker 2: don't have it, but they play in Lubbock. They do
- 9:36Speaker 2: play in Lubbock.
- 9:37Speaker 1: But I can't remember if it's the I think the
- 9:39Speaker 1: Utah game is the last game of the season, so
- 9:41Speaker 1: maybe it's it's their third out of the last four games.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It's their third game, yep, pull up their schedule. Okay, yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: next to last for them and at Tech this week
- 9:53Speaker 1: Colorado is so it's this week Okay.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Home for Utah at Kansas and then the end the
- 9:59Speaker 3: season again it's Oklahoma State.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 1: The last two or should be wins so the next
- 10:05Speaker 1: two weeks are the tellers for Colorado.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Boy, what if Colorado ends up? I mean, ESPN would
- 10:12Speaker 3: melt down. They'd be so excited, they would they would
- 10:15Speaker 3: be so excited, real real quick, Craig. If you're a
- 10:18Speaker 3: Texas fan trying to figure out how can they get
- 10:21Speaker 3: into the SEC talent game, who you should be rooting
- 10:23Speaker 3: for this week? You are Old Miss fans and you're
- 10:26Speaker 3: Alabama fans. Because if Georgia or LSU loses one more
- 10:30Speaker 3: game the regular season, in Texas wins out, the Longhorns
- 10:33Speaker 3: are playing in Atlanta.
- 10:35Speaker 1: If one of them does, if one of them does, yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 1: let me also say this if Alabama does win and
- 10:46Speaker 1: Old Miss does win, and say Georgia beats Tennessee and
- 10:53Speaker 1: Texas A and M beats Texas. Oh my head spinning.
- 10:58Speaker 1: If those things happen. None of them were that far fetched,
- 11:02Speaker 1: but it would take the combination. It's got parlay right,
- 11:05Speaker 1: And I'm not a guy who does the wagering thing,
- 11:07Speaker 1: but if you went parlay on that, now, wrap your
- 11:12Speaker 1: mind around this. Cam Okay, Georgia wins out, okay, which
- 11:20Speaker 1: includes beating Tennessee, handing them a second loss, which includes
- 11:24Speaker 1: beating No, they don't win out they lose too, Ole
- 11:28Speaker 1: Miss okay. So now Georgia with two losses, Tennessee with
- 11:34Speaker 1: two losses, Ole Miss with two losses, Alabama beats LSU,
- 11:38Speaker 1: they each have two losses, and A and M beats
- 11:40Speaker 1: Texas and they all have two losses. Nobody has one
- 11:45Speaker 1: loss at that point. What a mess that would be Georgia, Alabama, Texas,
- 11:53Speaker 1: Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, a six way tie for first place.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Think about that for a moment. If those things happened
- 12:04Speaker 1: like that, a sixth way tie for first with uneven
- 12:08Speaker 1: amounts of head to head matchups because not everybody played
- 12:12Speaker 1: every Texas does not play Tennessee, they don't play Ole Miss,
- 12:15Speaker 1: they don't play l s U.
- 12:17Speaker 3: So in that scenario, to be Alabama or LU in
- 12:21Speaker 3: really so, there's a way where it could be seven teams. Craig,
- 12:24Speaker 3: Who's who's the seventh Bama, L s U, Georgia, A
- 12:27Speaker 3: and M, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, l s U, Texas, Tennessee. Who
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm leaving out? That's six, that's the six.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Islands, Tale, Miss and Georgia, LSU, Bama, te maybe I
- 12:42Speaker 3: left out.
- 12:43Speaker 1: A and M Bama Ole, Miss Tennessee, Georgia, L s
- 12:48Speaker 1: U Texas Texas A and M seventh way tie. Did
- 12:53Speaker 1: you go to that thing? Yeah, we were doing last year.
- 12:56Speaker 1: What's that little uh that little motor it's his account
- 13:01Speaker 1: is like m red fifty three on Twitter. It's like
- 13:03Speaker 1: it's b ball dot not nothing dot net.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Okay, so you put all that stuff in there and
- 13:10Speaker 1: generated the seven way tie.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's Alabama and LSU.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Now of course this could be okay, Okay, it's not
- 13:19Speaker 3: from the SEC.
- 13:20Speaker 1: No, But I trust that dude. He had it right
- 13:22Speaker 1: last year was going on. I mean, look, dude is
- 13:26Speaker 1: living in his mom's basement. Okay, he's just figuring this
- 13:28Speaker 1: stuff out, all right. He's got a big bag of
- 13:30Speaker 1: Cheetos down there and a big grape soda and he's
- 13:34Speaker 1: just diving into it. Okay, he'll figure out who's going
- 13:38Speaker 1: to be in the SEC Championship. We just have to
- 13:41Speaker 1: trust the dude in the basement with the bag of
- 13:43Speaker 1: Cheetos and the grape soda just saying all right, we're
- 13:47Speaker 1: gonna hear from start coming up on sports Radio AM
- 13:50Speaker 1: thirteen under the zone,
