KNICKS ONE GAME AWAY AND LOU TERMINELLO GIVES HIS TAKE ON ONELEGUPALEX MEDIA 6-12-26 · OneLegUpAlex Sports

0:00
Speaker 1: All right, lou Terminello, mister Terminello, mister you were an
0:05
Speaker 1: NBA executive for twenty eight years, and in those twenty
0:09
Speaker 1: eight years, I mean, yeah, you saw the Knicks have
0:12
Speaker 1: a run in ninety four and ninety nine. But the
0:16
Speaker 1: city feels like we're a powder keg right now about
0:18
Speaker 1: to explode. And I don't remember any time the Knicks
0:22
Speaker 1: have made the city feel like a powder keg in
0:24
Speaker 1: my lifetime like this, not even ninety four ninety nine, right, Louis, ummm, well.
0:30
Speaker 2: Again, it's different. I mean, let's Alex, thank you for
0:33
Speaker 2: having me. It's different right now. Yes, there's a lot
0:36
Speaker 2: of different. It's different between even it was in the nineties.
0:40
Speaker 2: You know, the Knicks played an incredible series against the
0:45
Speaker 2: Bulls multiple times and the only time they beat them
0:50
Speaker 2: is when Jordan wasn't there. But even that series was
0:53
Speaker 2: a seven game incredible series. So I mean they were captivating.
0:59
Speaker 2: The NBA was captivating more than nineties and it is now. Again. Yes,
1:03
Speaker 2: it's great that the Knicks made this incredible comeback. As
1:07
Speaker 2: I told you when you texted me with five minutes
1:10
Speaker 2: in the second quarter thinking there was some shenanigans going on.
1:14
Speaker 2: That the NBA was looking to to u length in
1:18
Speaker 2: the series. I said, a long way to.
1:20
Speaker 1: Go and right, because you know basketball, and I know, no, it.
1:28
Speaker 2: Was an incredible comeback. There's a lot of pros, uh,
1:33
Speaker 2: you know, pros for the Knicks how they came back.
1:37
Speaker 2: But I mean the Spurs just collapsed. And again, they're
1:41
Speaker 2: the second youngest team in the NBA Finals history, and
1:44
Speaker 2: they showed how great talented they have in the first half,
1:49
Speaker 2: and then when the going got tough, they collapsed.
1:52
Speaker 1: They had some just bad three point shots. I mean,
1:55
Speaker 1: they just weren't even hitting the rim at one point. Well,
1:58
Speaker 1: and yes, and there's some until Mike Brown's keeping this
2:02
Speaker 1: team endurance even through that twenty two point deficite against
2:05
Speaker 1: the Cabs. I know, this is very different. But there's
2:07
Speaker 1: something about the endurance of this team that I've not
2:10
Speaker 1: seen before because normally they are tired by the third
2:12
Speaker 1: quarter because simmses run them out there for so long.
2:16
Speaker 1: This is different, though, Like their their endurance is better now.
2:20
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, and they they were you know, they were
2:23
Speaker 2: a deeper team and uh uh you know, but again,
2:28
Speaker 2: I was texting one of one of my UH colleagues
2:32
Speaker 2: who worked in the NBA former colleagues, and uh while
2:38
Speaker 2: Spurs taking threes up twenty in the third quarter as
2:41
Speaker 2: playing right into the Knick's hands, and Barkley brought that
2:44
Speaker 2: point up on inside the NBA after the game. Uh
2:49
Speaker 2: I just uh, I just don't get it. Yes, their
2:52
Speaker 2: immaturity showed. They again, you saw both sides of the
2:56
Speaker 2: Spurs in the series, and.
3:00
Speaker 1: You know it's almost like they want to take control
3:02
Speaker 1: like they did over k c ok see, but the
3:04
Speaker 1: Knicks just haven't really let them do that. I know
3:06
Speaker 1: they won Monday night, but they still haven't let them
3:09
Speaker 1: absolutely domine. I mean, for some reason dominated Okac in
3:12
Speaker 1: a way I didn't think that would happen.
3:13
Speaker 2: Well again, they remember, okay See, he was playing without
3:16
Speaker 2: two of their top six guys, you know, for the
3:19
Speaker 2: second best player basically the whole series, and they're they're
3:22
Speaker 2: sixth man for half the series. But you know, last night,
3:29
Speaker 2: Mick Johnson, head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, I
3:32
Speaker 2: know he's in his first full year, so he's non
3:35
Speaker 2: experienced coach, did nothing to help his team repel the
3:40
Speaker 2: Nick run. And the Nick run wasn't crazy, It wasn't crazy.
3:44
Speaker 2: It wasn't It wasn't all at once, it was. It
3:48
Speaker 2: was chopped down a little bit at a time.
3:50
Speaker 1: Exactly the end of the third quarter, down fifteen, and
3:53
Speaker 1: they almost got to that point, which was good. And
3:55
Speaker 1: then they i mean, when they kept going back up
3:58
Speaker 1: by twenty, I'm like, oh boy, there's going to be
3:59
Speaker 1: a climb. But the Knicks managed it and managed it
4:02
Speaker 1: really well.
4:03
Speaker 2: They scored thirty points in the second half, which is
4:05
Speaker 2: almost unfathomable considering they scored seventy six points in the
4:10
Speaker 2: first half and then and Spurst scored only thirty. A
4:15
Speaker 2: key thing in the second half in my opinion, even
4:18
Speaker 2: though we didn't hit, you know, hit that one to
4:20
Speaker 2: three and again, now look, here's a one point game,
4:22
Speaker 2: a final score. And Alvarado took that three from the
4:25
Speaker 2: corner that looked like it was short and crawled in.
4:28
Speaker 2: And and the know, we had one also in the
4:30
Speaker 2: comeback that looked short on the front rim and crawled in.
4:34
Speaker 2: So you know, a lot of things go when you're
4:36
Speaker 2: collapsing or when you're you're making a run like the
4:39
Speaker 2: Knicks dick like that big.
4:40
Speaker 1: Three that it was hit, but it rolled around the
4:42
Speaker 1: rim a little bit. I know it's what you're talking about. Yeah,
4:44
Speaker 1: and then well and then the heart pick and roll
4:48
Speaker 1: that was that didn't really work, but they survived that
4:51
Speaker 1: look even down the stretch, there were moments where I
4:54
Speaker 1: thought this burst still might.
4:55
Speaker 2: Pull it out, because well, you're right one for seven
4:59
Speaker 2: to go. Wembinyana, who is not? He's not? Please no,
5:04
Speaker 2: But I don't want to hear anybody to compare him
5:06
Speaker 2: to Abdyl Jabbar anymore. It's an insult to Abdul Jabbar.
5:09
Speaker 2: He might end up being up there with abdl Jabbar,
5:12
Speaker 2: but he's not. And other guys in the Eli Jauan
5:14
Speaker 2: and people out there comparing him to but he's not. Now,
5:17
Speaker 2: with one forty seven to go, he blows those two
5:20
Speaker 2: free throws. He had missed one free throw the entire game.
5:23
Speaker 2: He blew those two free throws. They lost by one.
5:26
Speaker 2: That's key. Then the bonehead play of bonehead plays that
5:30
Speaker 2: long rebound when Brunton missed at three with the thirteen
5:35
Speaker 2: twelve seconds to go, and the the Aaron Fox had
5:38
Speaker 2: the ball and he just ninety nine percent of the time,
5:43
Speaker 2: you just hold on to that ball, get fouled, run
5:45
Speaker 2: off a couple of seconds and try to make those
5:47
Speaker 2: two free throws. He did that on he did that
5:50
Speaker 2: the previous game. It wasn't the same play with a
5:52
Speaker 2: long rebound, but he got fouled and one thirteen eleven
5:56
Speaker 2: game became one fifteen eleven with six seconds to go.
6:00
Speaker 2: That was that was an inexcusable era bi by Dion
6:05
Speaker 2: the Aaron Fox. But Alex, when you're up twenty nine
6:08
Speaker 2: points in the second quarter, you're you're up twenty seven
6:11
Speaker 2: at the half, you're up twenty in the fourth quarter,
6:13
Speaker 2: even though the Knicks cut it to fourteen fifteen, and
6:15
Speaker 2: the third, like you said, the Spurs got it back
6:18
Speaker 2: up to twenty. I believe that it was like nine
6:21
Speaker 2: thirty to go, they were up twenty. That's it's more
6:24
Speaker 2: than just one play. It's more than just the boneheit
6:27
Speaker 2: play by Fox. But that was a bonehead play, and
6:30
Speaker 2: that's gonna be that's going to stick with him for
6:33
Speaker 2: the rest of his career. But it's more than one play.
6:37
Speaker 2: The Spurs got away from what they did they would
6:40
Speaker 2: they started taking freeze, Alex, they got scared. They got scared,
6:46
Speaker 2: they did they panicked.
6:48
Speaker 1: They really and then turnover. I mean I know that
6:52
Speaker 1: heart didn't complete it but that turnover was still crucial
6:54
Speaker 1: because it was that was in the moment where they
6:57
Speaker 1: were driving down the paint driving in, Heart steals it.
7:01
Speaker 1: And by the way, even though he missed it, Heart
7:02
Speaker 1: did make the final block on the Spurs. So he's
7:06
Speaker 1: had an impact on the series for sure.
7:09
Speaker 2: Well that's the thing about the Knicks. Everybody contributes, even
7:12
Speaker 2: though they may not have huge numbers in the box score.
7:18
Speaker 2: Everybody contributes. And Mike Brown he out coached Mitch Johnson
7:24
Speaker 2: I think for most of this series. And he's a
7:25
Speaker 2: guy who threw a month ago or six weeks ago,
7:28
Speaker 2: was gonna get fired, and now he's going to be
7:31
Speaker 2: on the float sometime next week Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
7:35
Speaker 1: Let me talk about Mike Brown. It was a very
7:38
Speaker 1: crucial part of the game. It was like a couple
7:39
Speaker 1: of minutes left, they call that time out, maybe under
7:41
Speaker 1: the minute mark. But he walks in the huddle like
7:44
Speaker 1: so poised and calm. He wasn't panicking. He just like,
7:48
Speaker 1: all right, we're gonna figure this out. And I feel
7:50
Speaker 1: like that poise and that calmness is really you know,
7:54
Speaker 1: early on in the year, people don't really remember this,
7:56
Speaker 1: but there were rumors the locker room was a little fracture,
8:01
Speaker 1: like he wouldn't have their respect entirely. I don't exactly
8:03
Speaker 1: know if that's true, but I don't know either, but
8:06
Speaker 1: I'll tell you he looks like he's got the locker
8:08
Speaker 1: room now, and his poise is calmness is probably what's
8:11
Speaker 1: got him where they are right now, one game away
8:13
Speaker 1: from winning the final.
8:15
Speaker 2: No doubt. And you know, putting Alvarado because really the Spurs,
8:21
Speaker 2: while while they collapsed offensively, with the exception of that
8:25
Speaker 2: last possession where.
8:28
Speaker 1: They locked down Brunson, pretty damn good, and they.
8:30
Speaker 2: Did, I mean, the whole game. Their defense was he.
8:33
Speaker 1: Was able to get passes off to Alvarado and the
8:35
Speaker 1: likes I mean, and by the way, don't think don't
8:38
Speaker 1: And I got to get the stats here on the
8:39
Speaker 1: real app. But don't knock him for his stat line.
8:43
Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I may not have scored. I think
8:46
Speaker 1: he scored a lot, but let me get to the
8:48
Speaker 1: right stats here. But the point is he passed the
8:50
Speaker 1: ball a lot also, And I noticed that last night.
8:53
Speaker 2: He's a superstar offensive point guard. There's no doubt about it.
8:56
Speaker 1: All right, let me give me his line. I don't
8:58
Speaker 1: know b thirty three point thirty three points runs in
9:02
Speaker 1: thirty five by the way, Canada double double, which not
9:05
Speaker 1: really many people realized last night. But he had that also.
9:08
Speaker 1: I mean, look, these guys are contributing in their own ways.
9:11
Speaker 1: But no, not only did he have thirty five points,
9:13
Speaker 1: he had a Thursday expoints. He had seven assists. I mean,
9:17
Speaker 1: and that led the whole team. So what can I tell?
9:20
Speaker 2: Alex? He's everywhere on the court, He's everywhere.
9:26
Speaker 1: When he on the back foot, he falls on the ground.
9:28
Speaker 1: But he makes that shot anyway. I don't know how
9:29
Speaker 1: he did that one, but that was that was quite
9:32
Speaker 1: a shot. So now let me ask you this, Louis,
9:37
Speaker 1: do you think the fans in the building care about
9:40
Speaker 1: the SATs meeting. We see them all go crazy because
9:43
Speaker 1: the and that's how the NBA is. Like I realized
9:45
Speaker 1: people react to the shots, but I don't know how
9:48
Speaker 1: many people actually observe how to play unfolds. What do
9:50
Speaker 1: you think do you think they're more observant than we realized.
9:52
Speaker 1: I feel like they just cheer at the shot. Maybe
9:54
Speaker 1: I'm wrong on that.
9:55
Speaker 2: But I it's it's, let's face it, New York Sports
9:59
Speaker 2: fans was ever sport it is, and whatever team they
10:02
Speaker 2: root for are knowledgeable fans. Uh but I but I
10:06
Speaker 2: think and they know what's going on. They they know
10:09
Speaker 2: when the team is running a bad play, they know
10:13
Speaker 2: when they're taking a bad shot. They they know all that.
10:20
Speaker 2: But the only thing they care about, They only care
10:22
Speaker 2: about the end result. Whatever gets whatever it gets you
10:25
Speaker 2: to the whatever gets heat to the finish line. You
10:30
Speaker 2: know that that's that's all that matters. And uh, now
10:34
Speaker 2: looking at it from a Knicks standpoint, okay, uh, you
10:39
Speaker 2: know they're going to barring the collapse of collapse, and
10:43
Speaker 2: it really would be especially after I don't know how
10:46
Speaker 2: the Spurs can recover. I don't know how they're not comato.
10:49
Speaker 1: Well, they seem to always lead, and that was different
10:51
Speaker 1: this year. Then Spurs always had a big lead in
10:53
Speaker 1: the beginning of the game and then of course here but.
10:55
Speaker 2: Well, well the last night was the humongous lead, largest
11:00
Speaker 2: the blown lead in finals history.
11:03
Speaker 1: But even before that twelve to two run or whatever,
11:06
Speaker 1: it was no, no, no question and a lot And
11:09
Speaker 1: of course you know the other thing is I mean,
11:12
Speaker 1: I keep talking about the twenty two point come against
11:14
Speaker 1: the Caves, but yeah, This was a different level. This
11:17
Speaker 1: was like a level of they had not I don't
11:20
Speaker 1: think they even ended the half that badly in any
11:23
Speaker 1: of the other games. That was the other jarring thing
11:25
Speaker 1: is they were down twenty seven at the half. But
11:27
Speaker 1: I'm like, how was it possible? You know? But now
11:31
Speaker 1: I set on my prior podcast before I talk to you,
11:35
Speaker 1: when you listen to it, that this game goes up. Second,
11:39
Speaker 1: you cannot take away Willis Reid's hip game, that seventh
11:44
Speaker 1: game from the top of the Holy Girl. That is
11:47
Speaker 1: Holy Girl for Nick's franchise history. But would'd you agree
11:50
Speaker 1: this is the second most important You kind of want
11:52
Speaker 1: to go back and forth on that one. So why
11:54
Speaker 1: do you disagree?
11:55
Speaker 2: Louis Well again, Now let's go back, like I agree
11:59
Speaker 2: with you. Nothing to well top May of nineteen seventy
12:04
Speaker 2: game seven. First of all, you're talking about a Knicks
12:08
Speaker 2: team that was a great basketball team. This next team
12:11
Speaker 2: is you know, I got it. You know it's not
12:13
Speaker 2: a great team. It's a very good team playing a
12:16
Speaker 2: very good Spurs team that's very inexperience. Like we said,
12:20
Speaker 2: second youngest team ever to play the Final, to play
12:22
Speaker 2: in the finals, the Knicks and seventy were also playing
12:27
Speaker 2: a great Laker team with West Baylor, Gail Goodrich Chamberlain,
12:34
Speaker 2: So you can't compare it. And that Nick team would
12:38
Speaker 2: destroy this Sick team. It would destroy him. You know.
12:42
Speaker 2: I hate to say, I'm just being realistic. Who saw
12:44
Speaker 2: the Knicks go to the finals in seventy, seventy two
12:47
Speaker 2: and seventy three, But that takes nothing away from the
12:51
Speaker 2: Knicks winning this championship. You can only play who you play,
12:56
Speaker 2: and that's where we are. Actually, there's there's no team
13:01
Speaker 2: in the NBA, not even if Oklahoma City was healthy
13:04
Speaker 2: that could match the Knicks of seventy or the Lakers
13:06
Speaker 2: of seventy. They just couldn't. And but uh, you know,
13:12
Speaker 2: Cats off to uh to the Knick's matchment. They put
13:15
Speaker 2: together a very balanced, solid team that's going to uh
13:20
Speaker 2: uh get get this third championship. I mean, barring the
13:26
Speaker 2: greatest collapse, which I don't see happening, even.
13:30
Speaker 1: If a little bit tomorrow. But then the next will
13:33
Speaker 1: come back in and take over the game. That's kind
13:34
Speaker 1: of how I could see it.
13:36
Speaker 2: And even if by some chances Spurs win, they're not winning.
13:39
Speaker 2: They're not winning Game six. Well, let's face it, they're
13:41
Speaker 2: not winning three in a row.
13:42
Speaker 1: You know, you make a good point. That was also
13:44
Speaker 1: the first home game from any team on the and
13:48
Speaker 1: the I.
13:48
Speaker 2: Told you, I told you off yesterday the home court
13:54
Speaker 2: was going to kick in sooner or later. I didn't,
13:56
Speaker 2: you know, we didn't think it was going to be
13:57
Speaker 2: last night when uh it was twenty seven points at halftime.
14:02
Speaker 2: But you know, the home you know, the home court
14:05
Speaker 2: is going to kick in. So it kicked in last night.
14:09
Speaker 2: From a Spurs standpoint, when they think about this summer,
14:12
Speaker 2: when they review, when they look at when they look
14:14
Speaker 2: at this film, and they of the whole series, because
14:17
Speaker 2: let's face it, Alex, out of sixteen quarters, it's not
14:21
Speaker 2: like the Knicks have played them seventy five eighty percent
14:26
Speaker 2: of the time. It's basically fifty to fifty. Tour of
14:29
Speaker 2: the games have been decided by one point. I think,
14:31
Speaker 2: only the second time in NBA history, or the second time,
14:36
Speaker 2: the first time since nineteen sixty nine in the finals.
14:39
Speaker 2: So obviously a call here, a bounce here, a free
14:44
Speaker 2: throw made here, Wemby, you missed those two free throws.
14:47
Speaker 2: I mean that's how close. That's how close this is.
14:51
Speaker 1: Now, I don't know how in two I think you're
14:53
Speaker 1: pretty intuit the rules, and I understand the basic six
14:57
Speaker 1: thousand you're out. But the flagrant stuff that he's talking about,
15:01
Speaker 1: I mean, are they missing it? Are they not calling it? Like,
15:03
Speaker 1: what's going on with the flagrant Well.
15:06
Speaker 2: Some it's funny. Some of my former NBA colleagues would
15:11
Speaker 2: text me the NBA has gone oderline calling flagran foul.
15:14
Speaker 2: He should let some stuff go. But one of the
15:17
Speaker 2: things that's happening now again, if the Spurs had one
15:19
Speaker 2: and tied it last night, it would be more of
15:22
Speaker 2: a factor. I mean, if Wemby got one more flavorant foul,
15:27
Speaker 2: that's for that, he has three points against him already
15:30
Speaker 2: through through the entire playoffs, he would be suspended. So say,
15:34
Speaker 2: if it was too to say, the Spurs won Game five,
15:38
Speaker 2: the Knicks won Game six, and and Wenby had got
15:41
Speaker 2: a flagrant foul and he's a big guy and you know,
15:45
Speaker 2: his elbows are flailing. I don't think intentionally most of
15:48
Speaker 2: the time. But you know, like last night, I don't
15:51
Speaker 2: think his flagrant foul was an intentional foul, but it
15:55
Speaker 2: made contact, you know, with Karl Anthony Towns one more
16:00
Speaker 2: and he would he would be suspended for game seven.
16:02
Speaker 2: Can you imagine if that had happened. It's three three
16:05
Speaker 2: and there's no wemby game to seven. Uh, he you know,
16:09
Speaker 2: because if you collect, if you get four flagrants, you
16:13
Speaker 2: collect four points, you're out for one game.
16:15
Speaker 1: Uh, try something. I don't know if he's gonna try
16:18
Speaker 1: something else Saturday. Again.
16:19
Speaker 2: I don't think he did anything dirty like last night.
16:22
Speaker 2: I don't think. I mean, I think that came. I
16:25
Speaker 2: was actually surprised that they called that a flagrant because, uh,
16:31
Speaker 2: that wasn't something that look premeditated. He's a big guy.
16:34
Speaker 2: He's got long, gangly arm, gangly arms. Everybody he's seven
16:38
Speaker 2: to five, and even even a guy like Kat, who's
16:40
Speaker 2: a big man, you know, below him when they're standing
16:45
Speaker 2: next to each other. So, uh, you know, we'll see.
16:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it'll be interesting that And then Kat
16:56
Speaker 1: having two fouls early on the quarter was the first
16:59
Speaker 1: quarter was just kind of wild. But I also think
17:01
Speaker 1: about all this from the history of from the biggest perspective,
17:05
Speaker 1: because they all played the Garden at the Big East
17:07
Speaker 1: level and now they're playing at the NBA Final level, Like,
17:10
Speaker 1: I don't know, I think that's pretty cool Champagne with
17:13
Speaker 1: Saint John's Castle, with Yukon. Of course the Nova Knicks,
17:18
Speaker 1: I mean, Brunston Hart, Come on, how exciting is this
17:21
Speaker 1: that you know they're having a sort of those big
17:23
Speaker 1: East alumni reunion in a way, I find that pretty cool.
17:26
Speaker 1: On the same floor they all competed on it.
17:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the Nova Knicks are going to be a
17:34
Speaker 2: part of what not many players accomplished an NCAA championship,
17:42
Speaker 2: some of us what the Brunson won at two Bridges one,
17:46
Speaker 2: I think one Heart one. I think Brunston was the
17:52
Speaker 2: only Brunton and Devincenzo was the only one that won too,
17:55
Speaker 2: and I think Devincenzo was hurt for the first one.
18:00
Speaker 2: But they're going to have these three guys Hart, Bridges
18:05
Speaker 2: and uh Brunching of go to have both an NBA
18:10
Speaker 2: ring and a college ring, and that is spectacular.
18:15
Speaker 1: It is h Every's just a you know, Hall of
18:18
Speaker 1: Fame status. I don't know we're even there yet because
18:21
Speaker 1: I don't know if this core is done. I thought
18:22
Speaker 1: this core might be done after this year, but I
18:23
Speaker 1: think they're gonna keep going for a while. I just
18:25
Speaker 1: have a feeling and they're gonna keep they're going to
18:28
Speaker 1: keep with the Bucks? Is that a possibility?
18:30
Speaker 2: Like, I don't even know, And I think the Knicks
18:32
Speaker 2: are not getting honest. If they are, they're making a big.
18:35
Speaker 1: Mistake because I actually now that are wait.
18:38
Speaker 3: Especially now that they've won, well they have one, yet
18:41
Speaker 3: they need to win this YEA, Well yeah, right, you're right,
18:43
Speaker 3: you're right, And I've been in sports for long enough
18:46
Speaker 3: to know that, Yes, they haven't won yet, you're correct.
18:48
Speaker 1: Two thousand. I know it's baseball, but that's trauma. How
18:51
Speaker 1: about hell? How about the nets up? Two oh? I
18:54
Speaker 1: thought we all thought they were going to be the
18:56
Speaker 1: Bucks that year, but.
18:57
Speaker 2: And it looks like they would have won the championship.
18:59
Speaker 2: So you're right, you're you're right. But they're healthy, they
19:03
Speaker 2: got the Knicks are gritty, they got chemistry, their experience,
19:07
Speaker 2: they're well coached. Collapsed for them too.
19:12
Speaker 1: I'm watching the non civilized celebrations of this Knicks win
19:15
Speaker 1: last night. I mean, a guy banging on a cab door,
19:18
Speaker 1: cab window, ruining it. Man, I remember ninety nine. At
19:23
Speaker 1: least we were all civilized back then. During this run,
19:25
Speaker 1: where did the I don't want to say because it's
19:27
Speaker 1: such a racial term. But where the hitdlums come in
19:30
Speaker 1: and ruined it all the fun. I don't understand it, Louis.
19:32
Speaker 2: Well, Alex, That's the one thing New York always pride
19:37
Speaker 2: itself on. When the team won a championship, there was
19:41
Speaker 2: never any destruction of cities like when Vancouver won Game six.
19:49
Speaker 2: I mean ESPN did the thirty for thirty or as
19:51
Speaker 2: sixty on it on the Vancouver Riot. I mean they
19:55
Speaker 2: didn't even win the Stanley Cup. Detroit Montreal has had
20:00
Speaker 2: had memorable quote unquote street riots when the Canadians, you
20:08
Speaker 2: know won, they haven't won in thirty three years. But
20:12
Speaker 2: you can go. But the one New York always Philadelphia.
20:16
Speaker 2: But New York always avoided until this time. I was
20:19
Speaker 2: in Shea Stadium for Game six and Game seven of
20:22
Speaker 2: those two iconic games against the Red Sox. I drove,
20:26
Speaker 2: I drove out of parking lot. Yeah, I mean it
20:28
Speaker 2: was obviously just it took me maybe about a half
20:31
Speaker 2: hour ga out of parking lot. But there was no no,
20:34
Speaker 2: no issues at all. The Rangers won the Stanley Cup
20:38
Speaker 2: in nineteen ninety four, first one in fifty four years,
20:42
Speaker 2: there was nothing outside the garden. There were no problems
20:46
Speaker 2: when the Giants won in eighty six, were there any problems,
20:49
Speaker 2: There were no problems, or ninety or two thousand and
20:52
Speaker 2: all those Yankee.
20:53
Speaker 1: Runs, they all just at the parade and that was it.
20:55
Speaker 1: I mean there, that was it.
20:56
Speaker 2: So this is I don't know if society has changed.
21:03
Speaker 2: I don't know, because we have so much social media
21:06
Speaker 2: now that brings these people who maybe really aren't fans
21:10
Speaker 2: to these to these uh watch parties, and you know,
21:13
Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan of watch parties to begin with.
21:17
Speaker 2: And uh again, it's very disappointing now the band. That's
21:21
Speaker 2: the sad thing is some some reporters and I was
21:25
Speaker 2: watching them, uh were saying, well, this happened back, you know,
21:30
Speaker 2: in in eighty six and in ninety four, and in
21:33
Speaker 2: ninety it didn't. It did not happen new York. Never
21:37
Speaker 2: happened in New York. Never never happened when when the
21:41
Speaker 2: Yankees or anybody or any of these.
21:44
Speaker 1: Teams won, I was there. Uh, they did the little
21:49
Speaker 1: parade around the arena. Nothing crazy there.
21:51
Speaker 2: And there was nothing crazy after after after games. I've
21:55
Speaker 2: been I've left Nassau Coliseum after the Islanders won, and
21:58
Speaker 2: they have such a rabbit fan base in the parking lot.
22:02
Speaker 2: After the Islanders won big playoff games. Nothing happened so.
22:08
Speaker 1: Bad they blocked off And I understand there's a whole
22:11
Speaker 1: rift between Dolan and MOMDONI now or whatever they blocked
22:15
Speaker 1: off the entire perimeter. I mean, that was never New
22:18
Speaker 1: York's way. We always were allowed to get close to
22:20
Speaker 1: the garden, even on freaking finals day.
22:24
Speaker 2: Well again, that's a whole that that's between a Dolan
22:26
Speaker 2: and Mandami. But again, but the regular fan the quote unfolte,
22:31
Speaker 2: we never saw this until the until this series. I
22:34
Speaker 2: don't get it. You know, twenty one or twenty one arrested,
22:38
Speaker 2: six policemen injured for after Game three last night, I
22:44
Speaker 2: heard seventeen arrested and two injured at Brian Park. You know,
22:50
Speaker 2: I don't get it.
22:51
Speaker 1: It's it's that that's the on the scene. But I
22:54
Speaker 1: literally made the wise ridges go home. You can't know, yes,
22:58
Speaker 1: go home, even even I want to keep my leg
23:00
Speaker 1: is what I've been saying.
23:01
Speaker 2: But that's it.
23:02
Speaker 1: Even on Monday night, like I went out for a
23:04
Speaker 1: little bit, but then I just shuttled myself out of
23:07
Speaker 1: the city because you know, they were looking bad. But
23:10
Speaker 1: if they happened to win. I don't want to be
23:11
Speaker 1: in the city because if they went up three to zero,
23:13
Speaker 1: the whole city might not have survived that night.
23:15
Speaker 2: But you know, again, Alex, they don't care. They don't care.
23:18
Speaker 2: They don't care that that that you're handicapping, your on crutches.
23:21
Speaker 2: They'll run, they'll run you down. They're not going to
23:23
Speaker 2: pick you.
23:25
Speaker 1: Get me crowd surfing, and I don't.
23:28
Speaker 2: You know, I mean that, it's it's it's sad, it's disappointing.
23:32
Speaker 2: I never thought that would happen in New York. I
23:34
Speaker 2: really didn't because because it never did. And you're right,
23:37
Speaker 2: you know, we've had some iconic moments.
23:40
Speaker 1: We have, Yeah, we we have. Even the two thousand
23:44
Speaker 1: Subway series. No one was rioting after that.
23:47
Speaker 2: You're exactly right. And I went I went to all
23:49
Speaker 2: three of the games at Shay. There was no issues.
23:52
Speaker 1: You're right, maybe in the stands, but kidding, yeah.
23:56
Speaker 2: And even in the stands what they might have been,
23:58
Speaker 2: you know, the one or two isolated, but there was
24:00
Speaker 2: you know, I want I went to all three games.
24:03
Speaker 1: Well, generation that was respectful. I grew up, and that's
24:07
Speaker 1: the problem. I think that's it.
24:09
Speaker 2: You're right, it's a generational thing. It's it's lack of
24:14
Speaker 2: it's lack of respect for each other. And well that's
24:19
Speaker 2: now we're getting away from sports and what the world
24:23
Speaker 2: is looking.
24:25
Speaker 1: I might think they might block it out. I mean,
24:27
Speaker 1: and they may have to make it a ticketed parade
24:29
Speaker 1: at this point. I don't know. And that's sad because
24:31
Speaker 1: normally these parades are for the public. Yeah, no, absolutely,
24:37
Speaker 1: and I understand the Liberty one in twenty four, but
24:41
Speaker 1: it would be the first of all the four Majors.
24:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, it'll be different, Alex, this will be
24:46
Speaker 2: this will be humongous. This parade willngus.
24:50
Speaker 1: I heard you're coming in uh first train in right?
24:53
Speaker 2: Look, Well, is my desk at one eleven still open?
24:56
Speaker 1: Or oh my god?
25:01
Speaker 2: You know, I'm sure. I'm sure Tony's gonna take care
25:04
Speaker 2: of you. I'm sure Tony's gonna at the front desk.
25:08
Speaker 1: The kid. I'll be out on the parade room next
25:09
Speaker 1: to Brunson. What are you talking about? Uh, I'm here
25:14
Speaker 1: with Jalen Yay speaking into existence. You never know. Well,
25:18
Speaker 1: that's the other thing about this, there's so many security concerns.
25:21
Speaker 1: This isn't a watch party like in the first couple
25:23
Speaker 1: of rounds. They really have to make a decision if
25:25
Speaker 1: they want to do a watch party, because after what
25:29
Speaker 1: we've seen, I think the garden may oup not to
25:32
Speaker 1: open the garden for Game five. That's what I'm thinking here, Lewis.
25:35
Speaker 2: Well, I was wondering if they were going to do that. Now, Alex,
25:38
Speaker 2: you say it's ten dollars to get into the garden,
25:41
Speaker 2: I will be fifty to.
25:42
Speaker 1: One hundred dollars. Now I will think, no, No, I
25:45
Speaker 1: don't know if it's gonna be ten. Now, I think
25:46
Speaker 1: they would up the price at that. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
25:50
Speaker 1: well look they they should not be afraid. That's the
25:53
Speaker 1: other problem. These hoodlums are making everybody afraid. They should
25:56
Speaker 1: not be afraid to open the garden for a watch party.
25:59
Speaker 1: Everybody does it, even uh when there is a clincher,
26:02
Speaker 1: teams open up their arena, they're off.
26:04
Speaker 2: No, that's done throughout the country.
26:09
Speaker 1: You're right, So I I don't agree with them not opening.
26:13
Speaker 1: I think they should. I think they should just say
26:15
Speaker 1: screw all the rabble rousers and just let the fans
26:18
Speaker 1: enjoy it. First of all, you price us out anyway
26:21
Speaker 1: for the two games, that's what you deserve. It should
26:24
Speaker 1: be there for the clinch, you know what I mean.
26:28
Speaker 1: And by the way, I want to get a little political.
26:30
Speaker 1: I know, I know people that listen don't like us
26:31
Speaker 1: getting political, but I want to say this, mister affordable
26:35
Speaker 1: affordability one thousand dollars ticket, but he doesn't make it
26:39
Speaker 1: affordable or make it available, make a deal like you
26:42
Speaker 1: did with FIFA for regular Nick fans. The guy's a
26:45
Speaker 1: phony as far as I'm gonna when it comes back.
26:47
Speaker 1: But that's I'll say that. You don't have to say that.
26:50
Speaker 1: I'll make that little on the network because it's it's
26:55
Speaker 1: infuriating the first time.
26:57
Speaker 2: It is infuriating.
26:58
Speaker 1: I agree, Bud, I do because the first time since
27:01
Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine, and the average fan has his watch outside.
27:06
Speaker 1: I don't.
27:08
Speaker 4: Like.
27:09
Speaker 1: I'm sorry Taylor's for being there last night. She's not
27:12
Speaker 1: a New York fan. I know she was at the
27:14
Speaker 1: Garden a few times, but she's just there for show
27:17
Speaker 1: where the wheel is Yes.
27:18
Speaker 2: Yes they are you are? You are correct?
27:21
Speaker 1: And the other thing talk about generational shift in ninety nine.
27:27
Speaker 1: Uh in ninety nine they all wore suits on the sideline.
27:30
Speaker 1: What is this with this track suit ship? Like I'd
27:33
Speaker 1: rather than just wear suits.
27:34
Speaker 2: Again, well, the NBA has lessened the dress code, which looked.
27:40
Speaker 1: To dress the nines every time he was on the sideline.
27:43
Speaker 1: I'll tell you that much.
27:45
Speaker 2: I mean, when you know Chuck Daily coached us for
27:47
Speaker 2: two years, he dressed impeccably.
27:51
Speaker 1: You know that Warren's, Frank, Byron Scott all, they all
27:54
Speaker 1: dressed really well. I mean they just you know they did.
27:57
Speaker 2: It's now the NBA then, has lessened the dress coach
28:03
Speaker 2: for coaches.
28:03
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sorry, you're about to win a champions
28:05
Speaker 1: are gonna wear a tracksuit to wisit?
28:07
Speaker 2: No?
28:07
Speaker 1: I don't understand it. And it's been like that since
28:10
Speaker 1: post pandemic and you talk about airport wear and a basketbook.
28:16
Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. They need Duffy to say something, but like,
28:21
Speaker 1: can you wear suits on the sideline and like that
28:24
Speaker 1: the terminal? You know, the whole thing. Anyway, Louis, I
28:27
Speaker 1: don't know it'll be fun, but I do have to
28:29
Speaker 1: open the garden. I want to get in there and
28:31
Speaker 1: at least get a picture of the O'Brien trophy logo
28:34
Speaker 1: on the court. I think that's such a cool thing
28:35
Speaker 1: they did this year. Apparently I've always had that, but
28:38
Speaker 1: they got rid of it for a while.
28:40
Speaker 2: They got rid of it for a while and people
28:41
Speaker 2: people made enough stink that they brought it back. I
28:45
Speaker 2: like it. I like it on court.
28:47
Speaker 1: I do so you Met Samboula and a few others
28:51
Speaker 1: think it's coming back to New York for Game six.
28:53
Speaker 1: I think the home home team will get a fair whistle.
28:55
Speaker 1: I have to say that, but you never I don't.
29:00
Speaker 2: I think the I think the officiating for the first
29:02
Speaker 2: four games has been fine. I really do I I really,
29:08
Speaker 2: I really think they've done a good job in the
29:10
Speaker 2: tough situation. They've done a really good job.
29:14
Speaker 1: Well that's why I have you on, because you're one
29:17
Speaker 1: of the more sane voices. Everybody else is like ragular.
29:20
Speaker 1: And then I heard Steven and Steve Aye Smith wants
29:22
Speaker 1: a ring. What has he ever done for the NIXT team.
29:24
Speaker 1: I know he doesn't understand that one either, but yeah.
29:27
Speaker 2: Well, Stephen A. Smith knows how to sell Stephen A. Smith.
29:30
Speaker 2: He does a great job. He I think he's a
29:34
Speaker 2: blow hard, but the one thing that he does at
29:38
Speaker 2: an expert level, he knows how to sell the Stephen A.
29:40
Speaker 2: Smith brand. SODA's McAfee.
29:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, Kirk Herbs. She had a nice view of
29:46
Speaker 1: the shot last night. The tip in last night that
29:48
Speaker 1: was that was pretty cool. But we'll have to see.
29:51
Speaker 1: I do want to say one thing. I am keeping
29:53
Speaker 1: an eye on other sports because as you know, we're
29:55
Speaker 1: a multi sports city and I know it's early on
29:59
Speaker 1: since Judge was announced by the way he was there
30:01
Speaker 1: last night. Aaron Judge was there last night. Since Judge
30:05
Speaker 1: was announced four to six weeks, they're four and one
30:08
Speaker 1: after the sweep against the Guardians, So maybe the sky
30:11
Speaker 1: isn't falling after all. We have to see by July.
30:13
Speaker 1: But I'm keeping an eye on that because if they
30:16
Speaker 1: can have a winning record without Judge on like twenty three,
30:20
Speaker 1: that's a good shape heading into the postseason. But feel
30:23
Speaker 1: like we're a long ways away from that and no
30:24
Speaker 1: one's really caring about that, but I will because that's
30:26
Speaker 1: what we do here. One look up alex Sports. We
30:28
Speaker 1: follow everything, Louis.
30:29
Speaker 2: We follow everything absolutely. And the thing that the end
30:34
Speaker 2: that's gonna help keep the Yankees going is they have
30:37
Speaker 2: outstanding starting pitching. That's that's going to keep the Yankees going.
30:41
Speaker 2: They need Judge. It's a monumental injury. But again, they're
30:47
Speaker 2: not playing in the American League East of Old and
30:51
Speaker 2: that's gonna help them. That's gonna help them get there.
30:54
Speaker 2: And the trade deadlines coming up, are the Red SOPs
30:57
Speaker 2: gonna trade a Chapman teams and rind out?
31:01
Speaker 1: You know, he just got demoted, so I don't know
31:03
Speaker 1: what's going to happen.
31:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think they'll trade him. He's too young, so
31:06
Speaker 2: they probably just want to fix him down in the
31:08
Speaker 2: minor leagues.
31:09
Speaker 1: If they get Chapman again, the other is gonna pull
31:11
Speaker 1: their hair out because we have some bad memories with him.
31:13
Speaker 1: But we'll have to see.
31:15
Speaker 2: Well, I don't think the Red Sox would unless the
31:18
Speaker 2: Yankees are going to give up something that the Red
31:21
Speaker 2: Sox think would really help them. I don't think the
31:24
Speaker 2: Yankees and Red Sox are going to make a trade.
31:26
Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think the Red Sox want
31:28
Speaker 2: to give them Chapman back to help them. But I
31:31
Speaker 2: could see Chapman getting traded, uh to a contending team
31:36
Speaker 2: and uh but yeah no, if they could, if they
31:39
Speaker 2: could stay above a five hundred, you know, uh, not
31:42
Speaker 2: a above five hundred. Above five hundred would out with
31:45
Speaker 2: with with Judge out, and we don't know how long
31:48
Speaker 2: he's going to be out. Remember they said four to
31:50
Speaker 2: six weeks and he'll be re examined, so if they
31:54
Speaker 2: stick with that, he could be longer.
31:57
Speaker 1: All right, Louis, Uh, I don't know. We haven't done
32:00
Speaker 1: a Mets update in a minute, but we can. I
32:03
Speaker 1: just don't know what's updates about them because.
32:05
Speaker 2: There's nothing to update about them. There is really nothing.
32:09
Speaker 1: Uh.
32:10
Speaker 2: I mean, by the time they get their injured guys back,
32:12
Speaker 2: like Glendor Alpharez made an amazing comeback a month before
32:16
Speaker 2: you're supposed to last night. But uh, they it looks
32:21
Speaker 2: like it looks like they're done. It looks like that
32:26
Speaker 2: this year's Atlanta Braves of last year that couldn't get
32:29
Speaker 2: their own way. Now next year they end up like
32:32
Speaker 2: the Atlanta radge are this year. Okay, but we don't
32:35
Speaker 2: know that.
32:36
Speaker 1: Oh oh, speaking of gms. By the way, one last thing,
32:40
Speaker 1: do you think after this postseason NBA Finals run in
32:43
Speaker 1: the ring, maybe Dolan goes on the stage and it
32:45
Speaker 1: announces the firing of Chris Drury at City Hall and
32:48
Speaker 1: say we're rebuilding the next the Rangers next. Is that
32:50
Speaker 1: a possibility, Louis, I'd love to.
32:51
Speaker 2: See that, that is, Alex. I know you're I know
32:55
Speaker 2: you're not a big fan of Chris Drury, but that
32:58
Speaker 2: is not going to happen.
32:59
Speaker 1: So we won't say are your keys of the cities
33:01
Speaker 1: and a pink slip for Chris Jerry at the.
33:02
Speaker 2: South That is not That is not going to happen.
33:05
Speaker 2: Not not this year. Uh that not this year, that's
33:08
Speaker 2: for sure. And uh again, you just your off Dolan.
33:13
Speaker 2: All the Knick fans who said that he's a terrible owner,
33:15
Speaker 2: get rid of them all this kind of crap. Uh.
33:18
Speaker 2: You know, he's going to be the owner of a
33:21
Speaker 2: of an NBA champion if they can get one more.
33:24
Speaker 1: These guys were destroying news paper boxes. What is this?
33:28
Speaker 1: I've never seen the city like this. Anyway, we we
33:31
Speaker 1: gotta pray, and I pray for the two guys I
33:33
Speaker 1: saw at Houston Hall wearing Spurs jerseys during the during
33:39
Speaker 1: the OKC thing. By the way, New Yorkers are not
33:41
Speaker 1: like that, so please don't think that this anybody watching nationally.
33:44
Speaker 1: We are not all like that. In fact, Louis, one
33:47
Speaker 1: last thing. The other night, they showed the Kraos outside
33:50
Speaker 1: Brian Park with all the with all the guys bringing
33:53
Speaker 1: down the bus stop signs, and then you watch Bryan
33:57
Speaker 1: Park is the most civilized thing in the world. Like
34:00
Speaker 1: want to juxtaposition right outside the park. I don't understand it.
34:04
Speaker 2: Louis, No, it's it's it's disheartening, it really is. That's not.
34:12
Speaker 2: That's what not what New York sports fans are like
34:14
Speaker 2: and like, will you to jump.
34:15
Speaker 1: On the fourth of July Barges next? Is that? What's?
34:17
Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, it's true.
34:21
Speaker 1: I mean, by the way, that will make for a
34:24
Speaker 1: fun two point fifty celebration. If the Knicks win the
34:26
Speaker 1: Ring this year, it's like all part of it, and
34:28
Speaker 1: then maybe Team USA soccer, who wins the whole thing.
34:31
Speaker 1: I don't know how likely that is in soccer, but
34:34
Speaker 1: you never.
34:34
Speaker 2: Know, Alex. If that happens, If Team USA, if they
34:38
Speaker 2: get passed, if they get to the quarter finals, it
34:41
Speaker 2: would be a great accomplishment in my opinion today, But
34:46
Speaker 2: it starts today at USA Place Tomorrow night at nine
34:50
Speaker 2: o'clock versus Paraguay on Fox. I think they're going They'll
34:54
Speaker 2: get out of the group stage and hopefully they can
34:57
Speaker 2: win a knockout round or two and at least make
34:59
Speaker 2: it inter thing.
35:02
Speaker 1: And uh, and the all roads lead through I'm sorry,
35:05
Speaker 1: New York New Jersey Stadium.
35:08
Speaker 2: And that's right. Get get it right, kid, get it right.
35:13
Speaker 1: And yet it's the most corporate event in the world.
35:15
Speaker 1: They have to call it a non corporate thing. It's
35:17
Speaker 1: so funny, it is.
35:20
Speaker 2: It's it's so hypocritical. You're right, you re you really,
35:23
Speaker 2: you really hit the nail on the head there.
35:26
Speaker 1: And as you know, I've never been a fan of
35:27
Speaker 1: because of the corruption. I've always felt they had.
35:30
Speaker 2: But oh my god, corruption it will be there forever.
35:34
Speaker 2: It's so deep that it can never be I don't
35:36
Speaker 2: think it could ever be cleaned up.
35:38
Speaker 1: No, they can't be. But lou on that note, that's
35:40
Speaker 1: Terminal's take on everything going on in the city. Everything's
35:43
Speaker 1: focused on the Knicks right now and should be. Is
35:48
Speaker 1: there one game away? The back pages are all about that,
35:51
Speaker 1: as it should be. And uh, the o MG is back,
35:56
Speaker 1: except it's the Knicks this time on the New York Post.
35:58
Speaker 1: How about that, Louis.
35:59
Speaker 2: They're gonna unlike the match, They're going to get the
36:02
Speaker 2: job done. They're completing the job.
36:04
Speaker 1: I never really, I haven't asked this in a while,
36:07
Speaker 1: but maybe give listeners a fresh take, because I was
36:08
Speaker 1: just thinking about this in those NBA Finals runs. I
36:13
Speaker 1: know it's New Jersey, but did you feel a p
36:17
Speaker 1: did you feel the palpable nature against the Lakers? Like
36:21
Speaker 1: was there some kind of hope for the Nets in
36:23
Speaker 1: those years? I mean it was a pretty jump in
36:25
Speaker 1: place for a while.
36:26
Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, the thing is against the Lakers, and you know,
36:29
Speaker 2: I will I knew that Game seven again when the
36:33
Speaker 2: Lakers were playing Sacramento in the Western Conference Finals. We
36:36
Speaker 2: had we had already won the conference championship against Boston,
36:42
Speaker 2: and uh, I was praying that Sacramento, up three games
36:48
Speaker 2: to two, would win the series against the Lakers because
36:52
Speaker 2: I know we could beat them. I know we couldn't
36:55
Speaker 2: beat the Lakers because and not because of Kobe, because
36:59
Speaker 2: of Shack. Because shaq Is was a man mountain. The
37:05
Speaker 2: the officials didn't know how to how to officiate him. Uh,
37:09
Speaker 2: you know, we have we didn't have the We had
37:11
Speaker 2: Aaron Williams, Jason Collins, and Todd McCullough to go against him.
37:16
Speaker 2: That was a mismatch. As good a team as we
37:19
Speaker 2: had going to the finals, we couldn't handle Shack and
37:21
Speaker 2: we didn't. Uh, and that's why we lost four straight, now.
37:27
Speaker 1: Thought.
37:28
Speaker 2: Then the next year we played the Spurs, a Spur
37:31
Speaker 2: team with four future Hall of famers at the peak
37:34
Speaker 2: of their career and late in their career. David Robinson
37:40
Speaker 2: was late in his career but was still a you know,
37:43
Speaker 2: still a great player. Tim Duncan the greatest power forward,
37:46
Speaker 2: flash center, depending on how you want to categorize him,
37:51
Speaker 2: but he was really a power forward of all time. Jernobili,
37:54
Speaker 2: Tony Parker. But I thought we were winning that series.
37:58
Speaker 2: It was too too I thought we were gonna going
38:00
Speaker 2: to win the series when it was to to as
38:02
Speaker 2: great as they were, as great with all those Hall
38:05
Speaker 2: of Fame players that they had, I thought we were
38:07
Speaker 2: going to win that series. Yeah, but we didn't. Then,
38:11
Speaker 2: you know, that's that's the way it goes. But again,
38:13
Speaker 2: to getting to back to back finals was an incredible,
38:16
Speaker 2: incredible thrill.
38:18
Speaker 1: And then I'm sorry, I had a bit of a
38:20
Speaker 1: soft spot for the Nets and Jason Kid going to
38:22
Speaker 1: the Knicks just kind of rubbed me the wrong way,
38:25
Speaker 1: and always will I.
38:26
Speaker 2: Can't well he went he went for his last year.
38:29
Speaker 2: I mean, nobody ever, even thinks of him as a
38:31
Speaker 2: nick You know that happens a lot Ron Santo is
38:35
Speaker 2: known as as a Hall of Fame Cub. He plays
38:37
Speaker 2: the last two years as a White Sox. It's it's
38:39
Speaker 2: not unusual.
38:40
Speaker 1: And by the way, that's a team to watch. The
38:42
Speaker 1: White Socks are the team to watch this year because
38:45
Speaker 1: they looked really good. And this kid that's it a Homer.
38:48
Speaker 1: I guess Bob Cossa is calling games for Chicago.
38:50
Speaker 2: Now.
38:51
Speaker 1: I didn't know they they.
38:52
Speaker 2: Had throwback Night on Tuesday, so they threw and I
38:56
Speaker 2: missed it. I missed it because I was watching the
38:59
Speaker 2: Stanley Cup game and uh where they I think they
39:02
Speaker 2: used throwback.
39:03
Speaker 1: Graphics finals on too. I forgot about.
39:08
Speaker 2: And so I didn't watch any any of that game.
39:11
Speaker 2: But they had Costas come in and do the game
39:13
Speaker 2: with Steve Stone. I guess Steve Stone and costants her buddies.
39:17
Speaker 2: Costas was in Chicago on Sunday for the Sunday night
39:21
Speaker 2: game between the Cubs and the White Sox. He stayed over.
39:23
Speaker 2: He did he did the the Braves, uh White Sox game.
39:28
Speaker 2: And he loves baseball. It's he loves yeah, he loves baseball.
39:34
Speaker 1: All right. Well, I know our hockey fans are waiting
39:37
Speaker 1: for this or we should get into this. It's game five,
39:40
Speaker 1: it's tied. I don't know. Man, every time the Hurricanes
39:43
Speaker 1: win a game, I'm telling you all the time, I'm
39:46
Speaker 1: happy for them. I want to see them make this
39:48
Speaker 1: a series. I want to see them because they definitely
39:50
Speaker 1: don't feel like the favorite right now, I'll put it
39:53
Speaker 1: that way.
39:54
Speaker 2: Well, I would say it's a toss up. And one
39:56
Speaker 2: thing I was wrong on And you know, when we
39:58
Speaker 2: talked about this just before the series began, it was
40:04
Speaker 2: gonna low. We thought it was gonna be a low
40:06
Speaker 2: scoring serious I said it was going to be a
40:07
Speaker 2: low scoring series, and it's not. It's a high scoring
40:11
Speaker 2: Stanley Cup Final. It's the second fine scoring Stanley Cup
40:17
Speaker 2: Final through four games in history. So these are two
40:21
Speaker 2: terrific defensive teams but they have not played up to
40:26
Speaker 2: their defensive standards so far. Vegas is getting so many
40:30
Speaker 2: odd man rutters against Carolina, which I think was possible.
40:36
Speaker 2: And the goaltending has been okay, it's not Schroken and
40:41
Speaker 2: Andrew Sterkin or Vazileskian and Bobrowski in nets, but the
40:47
Speaker 2: goaltending has been been okay, but there's you know, a
40:49
Speaker 2: lot of chances, and the goaltenders have still made big saves.
40:53
Speaker 2: Now Brandon Boosey is gonna play tonight. He hadn't played
40:55
Speaker 2: at all. Now we don't know if Anderson's hurt. What
40:59
Speaker 2: the dla is? I heard this morning that he skated
41:03
Speaker 2: on his own, but he's not. It's gonna be Bussy
41:06
Speaker 2: and Gold tonight, and I would be shocked if it wasn't.
41:10
Speaker 2: I think Caroline is still going. It's gonna go seven, Alex.
41:14
Speaker 2: It might go seven, it might go to overtime. We
41:17
Speaker 2: might have a game seven overtime. That's how the way
41:21
Speaker 2: these teams are. No.
41:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, and and uh, you know Stall's been around for
41:25
Speaker 1: a while, so see him make those goals.
41:27
Speaker 2: Oh my god, Alex, he has been tremendous. He's a monster.
41:31
Speaker 2: They can't you know, they they can't move him out
41:33
Speaker 2: of uh, out of the slot.
41:35
Speaker 1: That he's part of the Stall Brothers, isn't he?
41:37
Speaker 2: Yes, he is one of the five who played in
41:38
Speaker 2: the NHL.
41:39
Speaker 1: Do that See? I know a little hockey. I love it.
41:42
Speaker 1: But one last thing, we're talking about the network.
41:46
Speaker 4: This is a big year and I have for for
41:52
Speaker 4: for the ESPN, ABC, You've got absolutely, You've got the
41:56
Speaker 4: finals for the NBA and Stanley Cup, and then you
41:58
Speaker 4: got the.
41:58
Speaker 1: Super Bowl in feb You worry. Yeah, Oh my god,
42:01
Speaker 1: Disney Kids, Mickey Mouse has to be running it, sitting
42:05
Speaker 1: and bathing in money right now.
42:07
Speaker 2: I have to say, well, I'm sure the ratings for
42:10
Speaker 2: last night's game are going to be off the charts.
42:13
Speaker 1: Probably last week. In fact, they said Monday night's game
42:16
Speaker 1: was more than ninety eight, which is interesting because the
42:18
Speaker 1: Knicks were on in ninety nine. But I guess I
42:23
Speaker 1: don't know why why that wouldn't be more views than
42:25
Speaker 1: ninety eight. Anyway, this is gonna top a lot of records,
42:28
Speaker 1: I think, especially last night.
42:30
Speaker 2: So yeah, no, last night was a game for the
42:33
Speaker 2: agent to be sure, you.
42:36
Speaker 1: Know, put that tip in in the louver. You know
42:38
Speaker 1: that tip in is just.
42:41
Speaker 2: Believe me, it's going to be portraits of that tip
42:43
Speaker 2: and that they're going to sell for you know, for
42:45
Speaker 2: five thousand dollars. It's gonna be bobbleheads of that tip
42:48
Speaker 2: in that they're going to give out next year at
42:50
Speaker 2: a game. You're going to see how they're gonna merchandise
42:53
Speaker 2: that og tip in.
42:55
Speaker 1: And I'll tell you what I did. I put it
42:57
Speaker 1: on my Finax creator page. Not not the picture, but
42:59
Speaker 1: I play a shirt of on the no beyond my
43:02
Speaker 1: Finax collections.
43:03
Speaker 2: You can check that out, you know yet, I know
43:06
Speaker 2: I was gonna check it out. Just before we started.
43:09
Speaker 2: One of the we got I know, we gotta go.
43:11
Speaker 2: One of the five most underrayed players in the NBA
43:13
Speaker 2: is og and.
43:15
Speaker 1: You love that. He is the Matsui of this team.
43:17
Speaker 1: There's no doubt about it.
43:19
Speaker 2: I would, I would definitely say that's a very good comparison.
43:25
Speaker 2: And you get gotta remember this is gonna be He's
43:27
Speaker 2: it's gonna be a second championship one. You know he
43:30
Speaker 2: went with Toronto. Yeah, so uh, you know, the guy's underrated.
43:36
Speaker 2: R J.
43:36
Speaker 1: Barrett, best of luck. In fact, people forget about this.
43:39
Speaker 1: He had a huge shot. I think it was against.
43:42
Speaker 2: Philly, it was against it was against Kavalkavlets.
43:47
Speaker 1: But I mean it was a huge shot for the
43:48
Speaker 1: Raptors in that moment. Look, I want to see him succeed.
43:52
Speaker 1: I always thought Barrett was a good piece to this
43:54
Speaker 1: next team for Alex, but this trade paid off.
43:58
Speaker 2: Now, Alex, be honest, you know, we know he said
44:00
Speaker 2: her a long time when Knicks made that trade, when
44:04
Speaker 2: they made the trade, when they traded the two young guys. O, G.
44:08
Speaker 2: You weren't so sure.
44:09
Speaker 1: I wasn't, and I remember because I talked to you
44:12
Speaker 1: about it. I wasn't so sure because I thought Barrett
44:14
Speaker 1: could be like the future of the Knicks. And and
44:17
Speaker 1: but Leon rose another move that he knew what he
44:20
Speaker 1: was doing. Look at Albarado another move that he knew
44:22
Speaker 1: what he was doing. This this deadline. I mean, see,
44:26
Speaker 1: people don't think about the NBA deadline as much, but
44:28
Speaker 1: he he won the deadline. I mean, Albarado is the
44:31
Speaker 1: win of the deadline as far as I'm concerned.
44:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he played, He's played fine.
44:39
Speaker 1: And I don't know he was. That was the problem.
44:41
Speaker 1: I don't really know who he was. And then all
44:43
Speaker 1: of a sudden, a couple of years later, I'm like,
44:45
Speaker 1: oh my god, if I don't know he's healthy, this
44:47
Speaker 1: team makes a run and I feel like my thought
44:50
Speaker 1: prizes is vindicated now because I knew. You know, he
44:52
Speaker 1: wasn't healthy last year. Really he wasn't even really healthy
44:55
Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. He's healthy, and that is
44:58
Speaker 1: such a difference maker for this well.
45:00
Speaker 2: I also think he's hard working in his game. I
45:03
Speaker 2: think he is a guy who's improved his game offensively.
45:06
Speaker 2: I think he's better offensively now than he's been at
45:09
Speaker 2: any time in his career. No, I really, I mean.
45:14
Speaker 1: And when we keep saying, Louis, this is the core,
45:16
Speaker 1: this is the time right now, this is your prime.
45:19
Speaker 1: And I think it's also reverbering. I think you're gonna
45:23
Speaker 1: see Jackson Dark play Sharper this year. I think you're
45:25
Speaker 1: gonna see Judge when he comes back. I think they're
45:28
Speaker 1: all inspired by this run.
45:29
Speaker 2: I have to say, oh, well again, Alex, that might
45:33
Speaker 2: be stretching it a little bit, but we'll see.
45:36
Speaker 1: No, this is this is gonna make an impact on
45:38
Speaker 1: the city sports. I really believe that beyond just winning
45:41
Speaker 1: in a championship, this is gonna affect everything. So we'll see.
45:45
Speaker 1: All Right, Louis, I gotta head out all right, by work,
45:48
Speaker 1: but always love talking to you on Terminolo's take. Thank you, Alex,
45:52
Speaker 1: all right, talk to you soon.
45:54
Speaker 2: Appreciate it. Bye bye,
