- 0:05Speaker 1: This might be a triggering word, but I do want
- 0:08Speaker 1: to warn you that there, I swear is a global
- 0:12Speaker 1: pandemic of spicy book reading going on.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Epidemic you mean, or epidemic? Thank you?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah, there's an epidemic going on right now. I feel
- 0:21Speaker 1: like every woman that I know or interact with is
- 0:24Speaker 1: reading these spicy novels. And I have learned some fun
- 0:28Speaker 1: facts about these spicy novels. Angie, is your.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Wife reading a spicy My wife has.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Been reading spicy novels, I swear to God for ten years,
- 0:38Speaker 1: which is strangely, honest, strangely how long we've been together.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So I don't know what that says about me. You
- 0:44Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Well, I have learned that thirty eight percent, so four
- 0:52Speaker 1: out of ten, four out of ten women fantasize their
- 0:56Speaker 1: partner to be a character from the book. Oh do
- 1:01Speaker 1: you think do you think this would be true? I
- 1:03Speaker 1: am not one of those women. Okay, so you're one
- 1:05Speaker 1: of the six who doesn't, then the six who don't,
- 1:07Speaker 1: and then finally more than a third, so about thirty
- 1:10Speaker 1: five percent fantasize the book's hero in bed you dirty
- 1:16Speaker 1: birdies out here?
- 1:17Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that makes me sad. I do not
- 1:20Speaker 3: do that either, but I do read a steamy book
- 1:24Speaker 3: like I do enjoy.
- 1:25Speaker 1: You know, I always joke with Corey. You know, not
- 1:28Speaker 1: a character from the book. I don't want to be
- 1:30Speaker 1: this guy with wings and horns growing out of his head.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You just pretend on Brad Pitt or something different.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Kinds of steamy novels.
- 1:40Speaker 4: I know that there are some where they're like centaurs
- 1:43Speaker 4: or something.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think what's that called a court of thorns
- 1:47Speaker 2: and roses?
- 1:47Speaker 4: And you're never going to be able to compare with
- 1:49Speaker 4: a centaur, I'll give you that.
- 1:51Speaker 1: So we asked on a Big ninety eight point seven's
- 1:54Speaker 1: Facebook page, what steamy book are you reading right now?
- 1:58Speaker 2: And rate it on the steamy scale of one to five.
- 2:01Speaker 1: We'll have five being like you're in a steam room
- 2:05Speaker 1: and one is like a cold bath.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Okay, no, because they're still steam.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Steam is like steam with cold water.
- 2:11Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. That's why.
- 2:13Speaker 4: But it's a steamy book, so it can't be the
- 2:16Speaker 4: one still has to have some steam.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It's like if you boiled the spaghetti. No, you boil
- 2:22Speaker 3: the water for spaghetti and you put your face over
- 2:24Speaker 3: the pot.
- 2:25Speaker 2: That's the steam, and I love this.
- 2:27Speaker 1: First right out the gate, we have Tracy and this
- 2:30Speaker 1: man said the hobbit eleven those feet, which I love.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I think he's joking, except for there are some people.
- 2:41Speaker 3: There are some people.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Kayla gave us quicksilver and it has four hot pepper emojis.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Oh excellent, five and a measure of mayhem was her
- 2:54Speaker 1: second suggestion. And this one had a stop sign, So
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna assume that's like a one.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I think maybe it was billed as a steamy book
- 3:04Speaker 4: and then she read it and it was like, this.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Was not it.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe I like that, Kim said, King Maker Series
- 3:10Speaker 4: three Chili Peppers point five.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Okay, hold on, it's getting steamy this morning. I'm big
- 3:16Speaker 1: ninety eight point seven. Let me get this, Angie. Are
- 3:19Speaker 1: you reading a steamy book right now?
- 3:20Speaker 3: You know what I read? Not right now.
- 3:22Speaker 4: That's why I'm looking at this list that our listeners
- 3:25Speaker 4: have compiled, because thank you. I read one, the last
- 3:29Speaker 4: one I read, and I was so disappointed that I
- 3:32Speaker 4: kind of was like, I'm not even gonna try another one.
- 3:34Speaker 3: For a while.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It is called Black Ties and White Lies, and technically
- 3:41Speaker 4: it was a steamy book. There was several There were
- 3:45Speaker 4: several steamy moments. The issue is I think that sometimes
- 3:49Speaker 4: authors get caught up and trying to use too many
- 3:52Speaker 4: synonyms for things so it doesn't sound repetitive, and it's
- 3:56Speaker 4: like that synonym is not how I would describe that
- 4:00Speaker 4: particular thing, and it takes you out of it.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Do not, Gabe, Do not gabe?
- 4:05Speaker 4: No.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Could you give us an example?
- 4:07Speaker 3: I cannot give you an example because I would like
- 4:09Speaker 3: to keep my job.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Okay, Well, we have got a huge list of these
- 4:13Speaker 1: spicy books on Big ninety eight point seven that if
- 4:16Speaker 1: you are interested in you can check them out. We
- 4:19Speaker 1: have Soul of a Witch with four pepper emojis, Ali said,
- 4:24Speaker 1: Destination You, which is definitely a five.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I'll tell you what.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Just the title right there alone sounds pretty spicy.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Celebrating life's little victories every morning. We practice gratitude on
- 4:40Speaker 5: Big ninety eight point seven.
- 4:41Speaker 2: If I could, I.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Would keep this feeling in a past job busted out
- 4:45Speaker 5: when it was someone's acting hard. Sure your little victories
- 4:48Speaker 5: with us at seven oh one, two eight oh one,
- 4:51Speaker 5: ninety eight seven.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Kids, I also needed to win that day.
- 4:55Speaker 1: All right, Dan, g do you have a little victory
- 4:57Speaker 1: for us here today to take us on into our
- 4:59Speaker 1: fri day, morning and weekend.
- 5:01Speaker 4: My boyfriend Mikey has officially adopted my sense of humor
- 5:07Speaker 4: and it served him well during a group project yesterday.
- 5:10Speaker 4: So he's a teacher and right now they're doing all
- 5:13Speaker 4: of their back to school stuff that does not include
- 5:17Speaker 4: the kids, so a lot of trainings and stuff, and
- 5:19Speaker 4: so they get separated into these groups and at one
- 5:23Speaker 4: point everyone has a different task and then at one
- 5:26Speaker 4: point one of the other teachers in the group was like, Hey,
- 5:29Speaker 4: I'm working on this thing.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Please don't think that I'm not.
- 5:32Speaker 4: And then it got quiet, and then Mikey said, no, I'm.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Mad, yeah, which sounds exactly like Angie. I actually can't
- 5:39Speaker 1: even count the number of times I've heard that. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 1: Angie has her like four go tos, and that's one
- 5:45Speaker 1: of them.
- 5:45Speaker 3: That's one of them.
- 5:46Speaker 4: But it got a laugh, It got a laugh, and
- 5:49Speaker 4: so he was really excited. He's more of an introvert
- 5:52Speaker 4: than I am, where very opposites attract, and so I
- 5:55Speaker 4: just thought it was really sweet.
- 5:56Speaker 3: He texted me to like tell me like I had
- 5:58Speaker 3: an Angie moment. Yeah, And that made me feel really good.
- 6:01Speaker 4: I always do that because I feel like it helps
- 6:04Speaker 4: me gauge what kind of person you are. So someone
- 6:07Speaker 4: apologizes for something, I will go no, I'm mad, just
- 6:12Speaker 4: as like a joke. And sometimes people are like hah,
- 6:14Speaker 4: And then sometimes they look at me like shut up, stupid,
- 6:18Speaker 4: And then I know which one is my people and
- 6:20Speaker 4: which one never wants to speak to.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Me again, which one to avoid?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah, right on my little victory today, It has been nice.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I have one of my mother in laws in town
- 6:31Speaker 1: until Sunday, So the past two nights I have basically
- 6:36Speaker 1: been able to sleep the entire night. I feel like
- 6:39Speaker 1: this is the most well rested I have been since
- 6:43Speaker 1: Kaylee or baby G you might know her, has has arrived.
- 6:47Speaker 1: My wife has kind of found this really good routine
- 6:50Speaker 1: I guess for her that works at night, which, yeah, forever,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you know, we've both been kind of tackling tackling the
- 6:57Speaker 1: one ams the two ams, but Corey has found the
- 7:00Speaker 1: little routine that really works for her and gets her
- 7:02Speaker 1: to go back to sleep pretty quick. And she's been
- 7:05Speaker 1: very nice saying I don't really need you, so I
- 7:07Speaker 1: just let you stay asleep, which is very very kind and.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Very very street is an angel.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Yes, obviously I'm very appreciative of appreciative of But obviously
- 7:17Speaker 1: if she needed help and woke me up, I would
- 7:19Speaker 1: get up and do what I had to do.
- 7:20Speaker 3: But I, Y, you're a good data Yeah, good partner.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate that, and I was. I've been very
- 7:25Speaker 1: thankful the past two days. I've basically slept two nights
- 7:28Speaker 1: in a row. Fully. I mean I woke up about
- 7:30Speaker 1: twenty minutes before my alarm today. Yeah, and that's when
- 7:33Speaker 1: you do the old lookover to the bassinet and you're like, wait,
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't think I was up of one?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Am? Is she alive? What happened?
- 7:41Speaker 1: But no, My wife is just very wonderful and has
- 7:44Speaker 1: found a nice little routine for her that helps baby
- 7:46Speaker 1: G go back to sleep pretty quick.
- 7:48Speaker 3: So I love that.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It's very very nice. And Corey's a lot better at
- 7:52Speaker 1: napping during the day than I am. She's very very
- 7:55Speaker 1: good about Hey, I'm gonna go shut my eyes for
- 7:57Speaker 1: a couple hours. Yeah, and then you know, that's kind
- 7:59Speaker 1: of my shift. I guess with the kid, and I'm
- 8:03Speaker 1: not a great napper. So I think she under I
- 8:06Speaker 1: think she's being nice and understands that and kind of
- 8:08Speaker 1: tackles the has been tackling little one am or.
- 8:11Speaker 4: So listen, if you weren't married to Corey, I would
- 8:14Speaker 4: want to be.
- 8:15Speaker 1: She's the best, is the best, the absolute best.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Summer time.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I know it gets a little scary when you look
- 8:26Speaker 1: at the calendar in late August, but it is August
- 8:30Speaker 1: twenty first, Palla, If I'm not mistaken, I just realized this.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I think fall is officially one month away. I think
- 8:39Speaker 1: it's the sept twenty second or twenty first, something like that.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So fall is sadly knocking on the door here, which means,
- 8:48Speaker 1: if there is something you have wanted to do during
- 8:52Speaker 1: the summer this year, you have about a month to
- 8:55Speaker 1: do it.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Do you have a last hurrah?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Do you have a last hurrah? You want to get done?
- 8:59Speaker 1: You know, so this summer, whether it's before school starts
- 9:03Speaker 1: or you yourself, you know you want to maybe you're
- 9:05Speaker 1: not in school, but there's something I gotta get this
- 9:07Speaker 1: done before summer. I really want to go see this
- 9:10Speaker 1: or do this or experience this. While the weather is
- 9:12Speaker 1: in the seventies and eighties. Let us know, it's seven
- 9:15Speaker 1: oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven. Do
- 9:18Speaker 1: you have a last hurrah you're trying to accomplish, Angela.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I'm just trying to get the kids to do some
- 9:23Speaker 4: fun stuff before the school year starts.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You just got like a slew of things you're trying, Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 3: A slew of things.
- 9:29Speaker 4: So one of the things that we're gonna go do
- 9:32Speaker 4: is go to Rope and Oak Nature Park.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 4: A friend of mine just alerted me to this, and
- 9:39Speaker 4: it's like it's got so many things, like a petal
- 9:42Speaker 4: roller coaster situation, like a tree net trampoline, like a
- 9:47Speaker 4: whole fleugh of things for kids to do, basically to
- 9:51Speaker 4: touch grass, and so we're gonna try to do that.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I'm trying to think of what I personally want to
- 9:56Speaker 4: do as my last summer hurrah before the kid are
- 10:00Speaker 4: in school and schedules get like extremely busy, So I'm
- 10:04Speaker 4: open to suggestions. We did post this on the Big
- 10:07Speaker 4: ninety eight points. I've in Facebook page two what is
- 10:09Speaker 4: your last hurrah before summer ends? And Shanna took a
- 10:15Speaker 4: trip to Spain.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Very cool.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I think I'm cutting it too close to back my
- 10:20Speaker 4: bags and go to Spain, but that's amazing.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Very cool last to rah, Randy said the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, which,
- 10:28Speaker 1: if I'm not I'm if I'm not mistaken, I think
- 10:30Speaker 1: is one of the biggest like renaissance festivals there is.
- 10:34Speaker 3: That's really dope and Renaissance Festival.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I would have to double check that, but that
- 10:38Speaker 2: thing is huge. I know that I've been there a
- 10:40Speaker 2: couple times growing up.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I thought this was funny, Melissa said, every year before
- 10:45Speaker 4: school starts, I'm a teacher, I watch Billy Madison.
- 10:49Speaker 3: And drink an adult beverage.
- 10:50Speaker 4: And I just feel like that should be a tradition
- 10:54Speaker 4: for all teachers.
- 10:55Speaker 2: They they shouldn't go back to school.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They should invite teachers to the auditorium and all of
- 11:00Speaker 1: them experience that together.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, that's a genius idea, the team building
- 11:06Speaker 4: moment for a moment.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Last Hurrah, except I I don't.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Think they could have adult beverages in the auditorium.
- 11:11Speaker 4: KI, Well, then they just got to find a different venue,
- 11:13Speaker 4: go to have a lot event center for the final
- 11:17Speaker 4: teacher last Hurrah.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Before they go back to school.
- 11:20Speaker 1: That's a fabulous answer. I don't know if I have
- 11:23Speaker 1: a ton of last hurrahs. We just have a one
- 11:26Speaker 1: month Hurrah that we try to make every day and
- 11:28Speaker 1: we try to get through every day with Yeah. Well
- 11:30Speaker 1: she is wonderful, but there's not a whole lot of
- 11:33Speaker 1: things that Corey and I can just go do right now.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yeah, So I feel that because I feel like you
- 11:40Speaker 4: gotta get a round of golf in, don't.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, at some point, Well, I'll have one I have
- 11:46Speaker 1: coming up in Septeer. I guess that is my last hurrah.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I do have a bachelor party coming up in September.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Perfect last hurrah and it includes golfing.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It will yeah, September eighteenth, So I'll just make that
- 11:59Speaker 1: summer cut off. Yeah, and Corey will be alone, well
- 12:03Speaker 1: not alone, she does have some people coming to visit,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but Corey, that'll kind of be my first experience away
- 12:09Speaker 1: from daughter. But it will be a great time. So
- 12:11Speaker 1: I do have a last Truly, I'm glad we brought
- 12:14Speaker 1: this up this morning because I kind of forgot all
- 12:15Speaker 1: about that. There is something Angie said yesterday that was
- 12:22Speaker 1: the most outrageous thing I have ever heard her say
- 12:26Speaker 1: in the history of the world. Please, please Lord, we
- 12:29Speaker 1: are all going to be annoyed at Angie today. If
- 12:32Speaker 1: your day is ruined, it is because of Angie coming
- 12:35Speaker 1: to work today. If anything is going wrong in your life,
- 12:39Speaker 1: it is likely because our sweet, loving Angie is.
- 12:43Speaker 2: The recreation of Lucifer.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Do you remember yesterday this conversation we were having that got
- 12:51Speaker 1: me the most fake mad at you I've ever been.
- 12:56Speaker 4: No, I feel like I black out after in the day.
- 13:02Speaker 1: After about nine oh two, Angie just forgets everything. For sure,
- 13:05Speaker 1: there was a moment in time yesterday, our lovely Angie,
- 13:08Speaker 1: who we care about and we appreciate all of her
- 13:11Speaker 1: hard work.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I don't like all of this prefacing because now I
- 13:14Speaker 4: know you're gonna say something so rude.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yesterday Angie has If you don't know this, Angie has
- 13:20Speaker 1: never really driven herself to work here at Big ninety
- 13:22Speaker 1: eight point seven. She has had a very sweet, lovely
- 13:25Speaker 1: man bring her to work in the morning, come get
- 13:27Speaker 1: her in the afternoons.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It's just a passenger princess for life. Baby.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just like a nice little extra way to
- 13:33Speaker 1: spend time together with her man.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Well, her man's now is going to be working at
- 13:38Speaker 1: Roosevelt Elementary and he has to drive himself to work.
- 13:42Speaker 1: He can drive Angie to work. So guess who has
- 13:44Speaker 1: to drive Angie to work. Me, Angie has to drive
- 13:48Speaker 1: Angie to work.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yesterday we had talked about how I was like, I
- 13:53Speaker 1: think I got to get like gas sooner.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So you know, you're just talking to your coworker, our
- 13:58Speaker 2: Angie through a huge tantrum.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Hey, I do remember that about.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Potentially having to put gas in her car. Here you
- 14:09Speaker 1: come on Big ninety eight point seven and you talk of,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you know, celebrities who are our steak is too juicy,
- 14:15Speaker 1: our lobster's too buttery. You're gonna have to fill up
- 14:19Speaker 1: your car with gas. Do you remember the last time
- 14:22Speaker 1: you pumped gas?
- 14:24Speaker 3: Oh?
- 14:24Speaker 2: My godness, don't lie to me.
- 14:29Speaker 3: June June twenty twenty five.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Twenty twenty five. Are you kidding me? It's been over
- 14:37Speaker 2: a year.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Oh that's terrible, Yes it is. Yeah.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Oh I am such a spoiled little brat. You know what,
- 14:46Speaker 4: You're not wrong. I should not have thrown that hazy fit.
- 14:50Speaker 4: I do obviously I remember it now, and yeah, I'm
- 14:53Speaker 4: kind of a nightmare. I just am not used to
- 14:57Speaker 4: it anymore. And before Mikey was in my life.
- 15:00Speaker 3: How's a strong independent woman.
- 15:02Speaker 4: But yeah, I just really got so spoiled, and I'm
- 15:07Speaker 4: not ready. I didn't even get to be weaned off
- 15:10Speaker 4: of the being spoiled. It was just like, okay, and
- 15:12Speaker 4: now here's my first day of work. And so it's
- 15:15Speaker 4: been only when did he start once?
- 15:17Speaker 3: Today? It's only been like two days, four days.
- 15:21Speaker 1: You had to go cold turkey from passenger princess.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, it hasn't even three. He started on Wednesday. Oh,
- 15:27Speaker 3: this is bad.
- 15:28Speaker 4: I am a nightmare. Okay, you know what if you
- 15:32Speaker 4: did listen right now and think, wow, what a whiny
- 15:35Speaker 4: braddy baby idiot?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Correct? Yeah, you know what.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Correct, there is some lady Angie who has had to
- 15:41Speaker 1: put gas in two cars this week. You haven't done
- 15:44Speaker 1: it since June of twenty twenty.
- 15:46Speaker 3: The worst, I'm the worst.
- 15:50Speaker 2: This is am I the problem.
- 15:52Speaker 4: It's me.
- 15:55Speaker 3: The problem is me.
- 15:57Speaker 5: We'll hear one side of the story and with your
- 15:59Speaker 5: hell how we decide if it's right or if maybe
- 16:04Speaker 5: you're the problem.
- 16:05Speaker 2: That's right, I am the problem. On Big ninety eight
- 16:09Speaker 2: point seven booth.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Side, are you on? Mom or Dad?
- 16:14Speaker 4: Hi?
- 16:14Speaker 3: Big ninety eight point seven. My name is Mary.
- 16:17Speaker 4: I'm emailing you because my husband is making me feel
- 16:20Speaker 4: guilty for getting our sixteen year old son a job
- 16:23Speaker 4: without asking him if he wanted one. It just happened
- 16:27Speaker 4: so fast, and I felt it was a great opportunity
- 16:30Speaker 4: for our son. A girlfriend of mine told me she
- 16:32Speaker 4: needed help in her little gift shop with cleaning and stalking,
- 16:36Speaker 4: and my son is always asking for pocket money, so
- 16:39Speaker 4: this just made sense for me to set it up.
- 16:42Speaker 4: My husband thinks this was the wrong choice and thinks
- 16:46Speaker 4: I should cancel.
- 16:47Speaker 3: On my friend. Our son does know and he's unhappy with.
- 16:51Speaker 4: My decision, but I think he should just give it
- 16:54Speaker 4: a shot, at least for a couple months. My husband
- 16:58Speaker 4: thinks because I did this behind our son's back, he
- 17:01Speaker 4: has the right to turn it down. Would love your perspective.
- 17:06Speaker 4: What are your first thoughts, Gabe.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I feel like there's a lot behind this story that
- 17:15Speaker 1: maybe we're not getting the full version of it. But okay,
- 17:17Speaker 1: I try to think back to when I was sixteen,
- 17:20Speaker 1: if my mom would have got a job for me
- 17:25Speaker 1: without really telling me how, I would have felt. Yeah,
- 17:28Speaker 1: And it's hard to go back that far because yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 1: I would have been kind of nice, like, oh, yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 1: I can make some money. But I also don't know
- 17:35Speaker 1: if I would have loved her being like, hey, this
- 17:37Speaker 1: is your job, this is what you're going to do now.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Right, You wanted to have the autonomy to choose.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Maybe having a little bit of a choice, you know. Yeah,
- 17:44Speaker 1: it's hard to tell because who knows. Maybe they've been
- 17:47Speaker 1: talking about him getting a job for forever, building up
- 17:49Speaker 1: and learning a little responsibility, and the mom was just going, hey,
- 17:54Speaker 1: here's an opportunity. I'm not going to turn it down
- 17:56Speaker 1: because we have it right now. We never know if
- 17:58Speaker 1: we'll get another one. Yeah, So I don't know if
- 18:00Speaker 1: it's hard. It is tough for me to justify going
- 18:03Speaker 1: and getting your kid a job behind his back, though,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and then telling him, hey, you're going to work on Tuesday.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I don't know if I love that.
- 18:08Speaker 4: What are your thoughts? Seven oh one two eight zho
- 18:11Speaker 4: one nine eight seven. We also have this up on
- 18:14Speaker 4: the Big ninety eight point seven facebook page. I think
- 18:17Speaker 4: I am in the minority. I think this was the
- 18:21Speaker 4: wrong choice. I do not think that he should have
- 18:23Speaker 4: to go to work. She chose this job for him,
- 18:27Speaker 4: But I'm going to go a step further, and I
- 18:29Speaker 4: don't necessarily think unless the kid really wants to I
- 18:35Speaker 4: don't think parents should be telling their kids that they
- 18:37Speaker 4: need to get a part time job when they're teenagers.
- 18:41Speaker 4: And I know that that is an unpopular opinion, but
- 18:44Speaker 4: in my head, like I have an almost sixteen year old,
- 18:48Speaker 4: I think that childhood is such a short season that
- 18:53Speaker 4: I want the kids to just focus on school and
- 18:57Speaker 4: being a kid, and I don't think it's necessary for
- 19:00Speaker 4: the part time job to factor in there.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I just don't.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I didn't work when I was a teenager, and I
- 19:08Speaker 4: think I got to have a lot more fun experiences
- 19:11Speaker 4: than kids I went to school with that had to
- 19:14Speaker 4: miss a lot of stuff because I have to. I
- 19:16Speaker 4: have to go to work. I have my part time job.
- 19:18Speaker 4: I have to go to work, and I just don't.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I don't agree with that, and I know I'm in
- 19:24Speaker 4: the minority, So I'll leave it up to you. Give
- 19:28Speaker 4: us a call text us seven oh one two, eight
- 19:30Speaker 4: oh one nine eight seven.
- 19:32Speaker 3: What would you do in this situation?
- 19:34Speaker 4: Are you on mom's side or dad's side?
- 19:40Speaker 2: I'm on the problem it.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Mary got her son a job behind.
- 19:46Speaker 2: His back and a little bit of a caveat.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yes, and now her husband is saying, I don't think
- 19:53Speaker 4: our son should have to take that job because he
- 19:55Speaker 4: didn't get to choose if he wanted to do that job,
- 19:58Speaker 4: and she thinks he should do it for a couple months.
- 20:01Speaker 4: He's always asking for pocket money?
- 20:03Speaker 3: Why not?
- 20:03Speaker 4: What's the harm? But she is feeling a little guilty.
- 20:06Speaker 4: That's why she wrote into us. What are your thoughts gave?
- 20:10Speaker 4: You think that she shouldn't have done this?
- 20:13Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I feel like there's a bit of a backstory here somewhere,
- 20:15Speaker 1: like is he constantly asking for money to go do things?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Has he been talking to his parents about wanting to
- 20:22Speaker 1: get a job. I feel like there's a little more
- 20:24Speaker 1: details to this where I could really make an opinion,
- 20:28Speaker 1: But right now, I would like to think at sixteen,
- 20:30Speaker 1: you could maybe pick where you wanted to work. So
- 20:33Speaker 1: I think getting a job and being this is what
- 20:35Speaker 1: you're gonna do maybe not the best way to go
- 20:38Speaker 1: about it. Because if my mom wanted to tell me
- 20:40Speaker 1: to do anything when I was sixteen years old, I'd
- 20:42Speaker 1: have been like, no.
- 20:43Speaker 4: That's the big I think that as teenagers they want autonomy,
- 20:47Speaker 4: and so a lot of people are agreeing that.
- 20:51Speaker 3: A part time job is a good idea.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Nikki said he's definitely old enough to get a job
- 20:55Speaker 4: and earn his own spending money. But I think he
- 20:57Speaker 4: should be able to choose where he would like to work.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Susan also said, I agree having a part time job
- 21:04Speaker 4: is a good idea, but I would have talked to
- 21:06Speaker 4: your son about it before agreeing to a specific one,
- 21:10Speaker 4: maybe suggest trying this one or applying for something that
- 21:13Speaker 4: is more up his alley. So I think everyone, gosh,
- 21:17Speaker 4: everyone is in the bow of yes, part time job,
- 21:20Speaker 4: good for this kid. But where you made the mistake
- 21:24Speaker 4: was choosing the job for him. So I think he
- 21:27Speaker 4: should turn it down.
- 21:28Speaker 3: He should have the.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Option to turn it down, but then look for another job.
- 21:32Speaker 4: If they really want him to have a job, then
- 21:34Speaker 4: be like, Okay, you don't have to do this one,
- 21:37Speaker 4: but you better get on the grind and find a job.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna look up five or ten jobs you
- 21:42Speaker 1: could do and we'll apply together. We'll apply together, and yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: I think when you're sixteen, you know. I don't know
- 21:46Speaker 1: if this kid has his license, but he is able
- 21:48Speaker 1: to get a license. In theory, if you're able to
- 21:52Speaker 1: operate and make your own choices in a vehicle on
- 21:55Speaker 1: the highway, I think you know, for crying out loud.
- 21:57Speaker 2: You should be able to pick where you work.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I just well I was out voted. I guess
- 22:04Speaker 4: I am team no job during.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Angie doesn't care whether you pick the job or not.
- 22:09Speaker 1: She's just saying, zero job, period.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Zero job.
- 22:11Speaker 4: I think childhood is such a short season, focus on
- 22:15Speaker 4: school and being a kid, and then you know. But
- 22:20Speaker 4: because I've I have that choice with my kids. If
- 22:23Speaker 4: Aiden wanted to get a job, I would not stop
- 22:25Speaker 4: him from getting a job. But if he doesn't want
- 22:27Speaker 4: a job, I fully support that and then have accepted. Okay, Well,
- 22:32Speaker 4: then when he wants to go out with his friends
- 22:34Speaker 4: or do something, I have to foot the bill. And
- 22:36Speaker 4: that is fine by me because that's what I decided.
- 22:39Speaker 4: But in this case, overwhelmingly everyone Mary thinks, yes, your
- 22:44Speaker 4: kid part time job, but you gotta let him choose
- 22:47Speaker 4: which one on his own.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Today's Variety Big ninety eight point seven, It's Gabe, It's Angie,
- 22:54Speaker 1: Sunshine and eighty six Today. Has something insane ever happened
- 23:00Speaker 1: to you on your way to work? Or have you
- 23:01Speaker 1: seen anything happen on your way to work? I go
- 23:04Speaker 1: to work pretty early in the morning. Angie goes to
- 23:07Speaker 1: work pretty early in the morning, like a lot of
- 23:08Speaker 1: other people. When it is, you know, four forty five,
- 23:11Speaker 1: four fifty about when I leave my house. I don't
- 23:15Speaker 1: want anything crazy to happen. I just want to sit
- 23:18Speaker 1: there in silence, take my little ten to fifteen minute
- 23:23Speaker 1: car ride, and just ease on into my day. I
- 23:26Speaker 1: don't need to hit a deer at four fifty in
- 23:29Speaker 1: the morning. Okay, that would be my worst nightmare. I
- 23:32Speaker 1: don't even know how I'd continue on with the day.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I might just call and tell you that I died. Yeah, sorry, Angie,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I died. I'll be back tomorrow.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Well, thankfully, on your way to work today, nothing happened
- 23:43Speaker 4: to you.
- 23:43Speaker 2: It was wonderful.
- 23:44Speaker 4: On my way to work today, I experienced what I
- 23:47Speaker 4: think is a bad omen. So the thing is up
- 23:50Speaker 4: until Wednesday of this week, my man Mikey would always
- 23:54Speaker 4: drive me to work and pick me up because I
- 23:57Speaker 4: don't like driving. It's a nice way for us to
- 23:59Speaker 4: spend a little bit of extra time together in the morning,
- 24:02Speaker 4: and we just like it.
- 24:04Speaker 3: But now he's working boom and so I have had
- 24:09Speaker 3: to start driving to Dah.
- 24:12Speaker 4: I have had to start driving myself to work, and
- 24:16Speaker 4: so this morning I get into my car, which Mikey
- 24:20Speaker 4: does park the car for me in the garage so
- 24:23Speaker 4: that I can't it's so pathetic, so that I can
- 24:25Speaker 4: easily get out. He backs in so that I can
- 24:28Speaker 4: easily get out because he has a big old truck
- 24:30Speaker 4: that is in the driveway and I'm just not a
- 24:33Speaker 4: great driver. I get in the car, I hit the
- 24:36Speaker 4: garage up the garage door opener.
- 24:38Speaker 3: The thing is going boo U.
- 24:41Speaker 4: And what do I see but this huge figure just
- 24:46Speaker 4: kind of hunched over a smaller thing and I can't
- 24:51Speaker 4: quite make out what it is because it is still
- 24:54Speaker 4: dark when I leave the house. Yep, And I thought, hmm,
- 24:57Speaker 4: this is weird. But sometimes like trash cans just be
- 25:00Speaker 4: in the street, and trashy was yesterday. Yes, I thought,
- 25:04Speaker 4: maybe there's just one in the middle of the street.
- 25:06Speaker 4: I turn on my car. The headlights shine on this figure.
- 25:12Speaker 4: This is the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. Important
- 25:15Speaker 4: to know I have a very real deep fear or nithophobia,
- 25:20Speaker 4: a deep fear of birds. What is illuminated. And I
- 25:25Speaker 4: did not know they were this big, a huge owl
- 25:30Speaker 4: with a duck in its mouth. This owl was trying
- 25:35Speaker 4: to feast on a duck Gabe that straight from a
- 25:40Speaker 4: horror movie that I dreamed up. And so I'm thinking,
- 25:43Speaker 4: what is gonna happen when I inch forward in my
- 25:47Speaker 4: car going down this driveway? But I had to go
- 25:50Speaker 4: to work, so I slowly start driving down.
- 25:54Speaker 2: About you in a car and you're driving slowly, Yes.
- 25:57Speaker 3: It's horrible.
- 25:58Speaker 4: And then the owl, I guess notices and the wingspan
- 26:04Speaker 4: on this thing was nightmarish and just big wing flap
- 26:12Speaker 4: still with the poor duck in its mouth, and he
- 26:16Speaker 4: just flies across to the neighbor's yard and lands with
- 26:21Speaker 4: the duck. But I think, and then I'm just now
- 26:23Speaker 4: trying to speed out of my neighborhood, and with all
- 26:26Speaker 4: of the car noise and the headlights and whatever, I
- 26:29Speaker 4: think the owl was just like, this is not worth it.
- 26:31Speaker 4: So he left the duck flew away, The duck waddled away,
- 26:36Speaker 4: and I think I saved a duck. But that positive
- 26:40Speaker 4: span that was traumatizing, and I one hundred percent don't
- 26:44Speaker 4: think it would have happened had Mikey just taken me
- 26:46Speaker 4: to work.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that sounds like one of those scenes in a
- 26:49Speaker 1: TV show where the person starts the car garage comes
- 26:52Speaker 1: up headlights turn on. You see what you see and
- 26:55Speaker 1: you are afraid of birds? Yes, and this is a
- 26:57Speaker 1: double bird situation. Yes, I'm kind of surprised you didn't.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Just you know, today's not today. Shut the car off,
- 27:04Speaker 1: garage doorgo shut, and you just walk back in the house.
- 27:07Speaker 4: The thought crossed my mind, But I don't have any
- 27:09Speaker 4: PTO left, all right?
- 27:11Speaker 2: Seven oh one two eight zero one, nine eighty seven.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Have you ever seen something pretty either strange or wild
- 27:17Speaker 1: on your way to work in the morning, Or what
- 27:20Speaker 1: crazy thing has happened to you on your way to work?
- 27:22Speaker 1: Maybe you want a bunch of money from us here
- 27:24Speaker 1: at Big ninety eight point seven, and you still remember
- 27:26Speaker 1: it to this day. Let us know at seven oh
- 27:27Speaker 1: one two eight zero one, nine eighty seven.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I need some.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Good starting off the day with something good. This is
- 27:38Speaker 5: Gabe's good news on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 27:42Speaker 1: There is some good news brewing if you see what
- 27:45Speaker 1: I did there. In downtown Fargo, Bab's Coffee House is
- 27:49Speaker 1: getting a new home, moving into the historic Ford Building
- 27:52Speaker 1: on North Broadway. The longtime Fargo coffee shop has been
- 27:56Speaker 1: serving the community since two thousand and two, and the
- 27:59Speaker 1: owner shop says this move gives BABS a fresh start
- 28:03Speaker 1: in a really cool piece of Fargo history. The main
- 28:06Speaker 1: Avenue location is closing, but BABS isn't going anywhere. They're
- 28:09Speaker 1: just moving a few blocks north. So if your morning
- 28:12Speaker 1: routine includes coffee, the good news is your caffeine supply
- 28:16Speaker 1: is still safe. I think that is I think this
- 28:19Speaker 1: is great if a place can maybe get in a
- 28:21Speaker 1: different location, maybe get a little more foot traffic, anything
- 28:25Speaker 1: to help improve what they're doing. And it's in downtown,
- 28:27Speaker 1: which always has a ton of people moving and shaking
- 28:30Speaker 1: in in Fargo here, I think this is really cool.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And if they're excited, I'm excited for them. And never
- 28:35Speaker 1: forget my favorite quote to the world is full of
- 28:37Speaker 1: nice people. If you can't find one, b one and
- 28:40Speaker 1: also broken crans, never forget they still color
