- 2:42Speaker 3: It's National Vinyl Record Day. I've always thought Vinyl's really
- 2:46Speaker 3: really cool. I'd like to know do you own any vinyl.
- 2:51Speaker 3: If you do, what do you own? What's your favorite
- 2:54Speaker 3: vinyl record that you own? So how are you listening?
- 2:58Speaker 3: Where are you listening from? Do you on some vinyl?
- 3:01Speaker 3: Let's go, we'll take it back to Bebop days or
- 3:04Speaker 3: even before that. How was Bebop such an iconic cool
- 3:11Speaker 3: record store? Man? You walked in there in nineteen eighty three,
- 3:16Speaker 3: I mean you could just you thought you were Michael
- 3:19Speaker 3: Jackson or the Rolling Stones? Are you too, I mean
- 3:24Speaker 3: you thought you were Bono? Wow?
- 3:28Speaker 4: That place now.
- 3:29Speaker 3: They had that snob effect thing too, So you know,
- 3:33Speaker 3: kind of like when you run into somebody who wants
- 3:34Speaker 3: to break down craft beer to another spot, Like you're
- 3:37Speaker 3: like elon talking about rockets. I'm like, dude, I just
- 3:40Speaker 3: like craft beer. Just poured me one. Do you have
- 3:43Speaker 3: any nachos? Bring those? We're all good. If you can
- 3:46Speaker 3: give me ten seconds on the beer, that's perfect. You know,
- 3:51Speaker 3: eight minutes maybe a little too much, right, But.
- 3:56Speaker 4: You know.
- 3:58Speaker 3: That group was serious and there were the people who
- 4:01Speaker 3: worked there. You know, I think about it now, ten
- 4:04Speaker 3: years old. In nineteen eighty three, I think about it now.
- 4:08Speaker 3: You know it was a groovy place playing cool music
- 4:12Speaker 3: with an insane collection because we didn't have it on
- 4:15Speaker 3: here in Jackson, Mississippi. But like those the people who
- 4:20Speaker 3: worked there were considered I mean, even though some of
- 4:23Speaker 3: them were kind of snobby, rudy, but very you know,
- 4:27Speaker 3: dialed into their craft of music. And of course MTV
- 4:32Speaker 3: then kicked in and that made Bebops and others even
- 4:36Speaker 3: bigger and more powerful for a few years, right before
- 4:38Speaker 3: other things gobbled them up. But they were they were
- 4:43Speaker 3: kind of celebrities, kind of.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Like the bar.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You know, this was at a time when there wasn't
- 4:49Speaker 3: a lot going on in this in this town, in
- 4:51Speaker 3: the state I talked about. It was a tumbleweed town
- 4:53Speaker 3: in nineteen eighty three and eighty five, much less seventy
- 4:56Speaker 3: two and nineteen seventy.
- 4:58Speaker 4: But the like celebrities.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Yeah, if you worked at the Dock, you were a
- 5:04Speaker 3: I mean, if you were a bartender at the Dock,
- 5:06Speaker 3: you were a celebrity. If you worked at Bebop, even
- 5:08Speaker 3: though you know, you didn't necessarily make a ton of money,
- 5:11Speaker 3: but it was like a cool factor, you know, Does
- 5:14Speaker 3: that make sense. That's what I thought about when I
- 5:18Speaker 3: saw Vinyl Records this morning, when I was on the
- 5:20Speaker 3: h on the shake plate and then people do have
- 5:23Speaker 3: been collecting, and some people have these just iconic, iconic
- 5:28Speaker 3: albums in their library or portfolio or whatever their music room, and.
- 5:32Speaker 4: And so on.
- 5:33Speaker 3: You know, you can find us on X at bow Bounds,
- 5:38Speaker 3: find us on X at bow Bounds and the michelob Ultra. No,
- 5:43Speaker 3: we'll go craft beer, very drinkable Mississippi Queen Mississippi from
- 5:49Speaker 3: Key City and Vicksburg straight just like Jay Meadows is
- 5:52Speaker 3: straight out of Clinton. Jack Bougeois is straight out of Vicksburg,
- 5:56Speaker 3: and so is Key City Beer. Now they got a
- 5:58Speaker 3: brewery and restaurant there, which is really really cool. We'll
- 6:02Speaker 3: broadcast there for sobab. I think Jack moved it to
- 6:06Speaker 3: a September maybe around their Octoberfest or something. I'm not sure.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I'll have to go look at the deal. But we'll
- 6:14Speaker 3: broadcast from there again this year, which is a ton
- 6:16Speaker 3: of fun and we'll have a good time. But Key City, Mississippi,
- 6:23Speaker 3: Esther Pilsner. The caller line is six one seven zero
- 6:28Speaker 3: seven thirty seven fifty. Unnamed Texter says bo. Why do
- 6:32Speaker 3: you think Kurt Signetti is the number one coach in
- 6:35Speaker 3: college football? Well, so I know, he only won a
- 6:38Speaker 3: I mean one national championship, but he did it at
- 6:42Speaker 3: Indiana and he's been the back to back college football Playoffs.
- 6:45Speaker 3: It took him about thirty seconds to rebuild the program.
- 6:50Speaker 3: He actually took the job, which is what some other
- 6:52Speaker 3: coaches should have done. He actually took the job and
- 6:55Speaker 3: totally focused on the portal his first recruiting class instead
- 6:59Speaker 3: of running around trying to sign a high school class.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And remember he brought thirteen players from James Madison with
- 7:07Speaker 3: the year one and nine of them started, which is what.
- 7:13Speaker 5: I mean.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I thought, you know, Dan Mullens. While Kiffin's the best
- 7:17Speaker 3: head coach to ever come through the state of Missippi
- 7:19Speaker 3: and football, Dan Mullen is the best evaluator to ever
- 7:22Speaker 3: come through the state of Mississippi in college football. Well,
- 7:26Speaker 3: how good is Kurt Signetti if he was able to
- 7:28Speaker 3: identify those players at James Madison that were able that
- 7:31Speaker 3: were capable of playing in the Big Ten? I mean,
- 7:35Speaker 3: how good is your eye and how good are you
- 7:38Speaker 3: at you know, getting guy again the right seats we
- 7:41Speaker 3: talk about all the time, but it's easier said than none.
- 7:46Speaker 4: I mean, high school coaches right now are.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Trying to figure out how to get they've already got
- 7:49Speaker 3: the guys, but where do they need to go on
- 7:51Speaker 3: the bus? Where do people What does the seating chart
- 7:57Speaker 3: need to look like for us to win on author
- 7:59Speaker 3: city fits and special teams. That's what Golding and Levy
- 8:02Speaker 3: are talking about this morning in the football building. Both
- 8:05Speaker 3: are in the building right now, as y'all are maybe
- 8:09Speaker 3: grabbing a bagel from Big Ole Bagel in Madison or
- 8:13Speaker 3: some coffee from here somewhere is they're thinking about the
- 8:21Speaker 3: seating chart. Who needs to be on the front row,
- 8:25Speaker 3: who needs to be on the third row, who needs
- 8:28Speaker 3: to be back there guard in the bathroom? Well, I mean,
- 8:30Speaker 3: you know, what do we do here? And and I
- 8:35Speaker 3: think that's what made you know it's a it's just
- 8:38Speaker 3: moving chess pieces around, which is fun. NFL is doing
- 8:43Speaker 3: the same thing. You know, they'll come down a handful
- 8:45Speaker 3: of players to and I know it drives the front
- 8:48Speaker 3: office crazy. They're like, you know, it comes down you're
- 8:52Speaker 3: splitting hairs, but like who do you keep and who
- 8:54Speaker 3: do you cut?
- 8:56Speaker 4: Right?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Because then that guy goes somewhere else and all of
- 8:59Speaker 3: a sudden you game four. Because in the NFL, I mean,
- 9:01Speaker 3: it's a whisk. All these guys are good, right, even
- 9:04Speaker 3: the guys who get caught at the end. The guys
- 9:06Speaker 3: who get cut at the end are you don't know.
- 9:08Speaker 3: They may end up somewhere else and start for five years. Yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 3: I got Kurt Signetty, Lane Kiff and Kirby Smart and
- 9:18Speaker 3: I tell you who's knocking on the door, and the
- 9:23Speaker 3: stars line up for him, kind of like Lane Kiff
- 9:25Speaker 3: in the last two years at Old Miss. Schedule wise,
- 9:30Speaker 3: the scheduling gods look down at Marcus Freeman and Notre
- 9:32Speaker 3: Dame y'all they did. I'm looking at the schedule right here.
- 9:35Speaker 3: I think Jackson and I, who don't know anything, could
- 9:39Speaker 3: go eight and four with this schedule and we could
- 9:42Speaker 3: be talking about craft beer and pizza on the headsets
- 9:46Speaker 3: during the game, and Jackson would be hitting on, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 3: people in the stands. We're live in the Bank plus
- 9:55Speaker 3: studio back in a second, Son.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Boy, what's dotty boy?
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah, Hey, Hey, good morning.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Welcome into the out of Bound Shoe ESPN one oh
- 11:01Speaker 3: five nine, The Zone. It's Trinidad Chambliss and Keith Carter's world.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We're just living in it and we're streaming live on
- 11:09Speaker 3: the Out of Bounds Radio app and the zone one
- 11:13Speaker 3: oh five nine dot com Keith Carter one of the
- 11:15Speaker 3: best athletic directors in the country in Oxford, Mississippi, and
- 11:22Speaker 3: uh he made the hire of a lifetime. Lane Kiffen
- 11:26Speaker 3: was walking through the door to be the head coach
- 11:31Speaker 3: of the Arkansas Razorbacks and Keith Carter tackled him on
- 11:35Speaker 3: the front porch and the rest is history. A billion
- 11:40Speaker 3: dollars later worth of impact over six years and unbelievable.
- 11:47Speaker 3: And so he wrote his ticket and then they were on,
- 11:53Speaker 3: you know, the cutting edge of nil and so on,
- 11:57Speaker 3: and uh they realized in one baby there were no
- 12:02Speaker 3: rules lesk Oh, wow, this is cool. Well, I don't
- 12:10Speaker 3: know if it's cool, but it's an interesting topic. I'll
- 12:13Speaker 3: get to it in a minute. Hey, the big board
- 12:15Speaker 3: this morning is brought to you by our friends atmas
- 12:22Speaker 3: m AIS. All right, so what are we doing here?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Governing body independent Schools Mississippi Association of Independent Schools. They
- 12:30Speaker 3: are looking for officials football, basketball, baseball, among all the
- 12:36Speaker 3: sports that they offer it Prep j MRA Park, Lane Heartfield,
- 12:43Speaker 3: among many, many many other spots. Right, So now, I
- 12:47Speaker 3: mean it's great, great opportunity to make some extra money.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I can't believe how well they pay. Contact them today.
- 12:55Speaker 3: We're gonna talk more about it a little bit later
- 12:58Speaker 3: in the show with their executive director. But uh, Friday
- 13:03Speaker 3: Night Lights don't happen without you become an official with
- 13:06Speaker 3: m A I S this year, and.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I can't wait.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I was looking at the m R A schedule with
- 13:16Speaker 3: the big four going at it, m R A j
- 13:18Speaker 3: A Prep Heartfield. That's gonna be wild and we'll see
- 13:23Speaker 3: how all that plays out. Friday Night Lights here is
- 13:25Speaker 3: powered by Madison Ridgeland Academy.
- 13:28Speaker 4: And what do you got here?
- 13:30Speaker 3: I'm lobbing dejections everywhere if I'm if I'm out there. Yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 3: see if you were an official, because you were, you
- 13:38Speaker 3: were a handful.
- 13:41Speaker 4: How many times do you think you got thrown out
- 13:43Speaker 4: of a game over? Or were you ever tossed?
- 13:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah it was a number five is double digits? Okay,
- 13:50Speaker 3: so you were you were a double digit tass c
- 13:52Speaker 3: no doubt or tossed double digit tossed?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yes?
- 13:56Speaker 3: Is that right? Yeah? Tossed?
- 13:58Speaker 4: Yeah, digitally. I mean, we may have to come up
- 14:00Speaker 4: with a better a better name for it.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll feed that out. So if you were an official,
- 14:09Speaker 3: you would love. But see, your problem is you would
- 14:12Speaker 3: be combatant. Yeah, I mean you would as a combat official,
- 14:16Speaker 3: that's right, And they have that you're supposed to keep
- 14:19Speaker 3: them calm, and you're supposed to totally keep You're not
- 14:22Speaker 3: supposed to even come close to throwing them out of
- 14:25Speaker 3: the game unless it's you know, you have given them
- 14:28Speaker 3: double digit warnings and and it's pretty egregious. Yes, okay, okay,
- 14:35Speaker 3: I'm with that. That is that like the rule of thumb, Well,
- 14:39Speaker 3: I don't. I'm not there should be a rule of thumb.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I mean, look, I officiated a few hundred games, yeah, okay,
- 14:47Speaker 3: and and show, but I don't know the rule of thumb.
- 14:50Speaker 3: And nobody ever gave me a handbook. I just got
- 14:53Speaker 3: into it and did it all the way through grad school.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I'm not a real big handbook guy. If you didn't
- 15:00Speaker 3: know that, that's probably why I do what we do. Uh,
- 15:03Speaker 3: As you know, I don't have a handbook for you.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I mean I don't journal. I probably maybe I should should.
- 15:11Speaker 3: That's you know, I do write things down. That's that's
- 15:15Speaker 3: you should because you forget too much stuff. But when
- 15:19Speaker 3: you do remember stuff, you're good. When you don't, then
- 15:22Speaker 3: it's not good. But all of us have to write
- 15:25Speaker 3: something down, either in our iPhone notes or on paper. Right,
- 15:28Speaker 3: it's just no other way. Yeah, yeah, I'm tossing all
- 15:32Speaker 3: of them. Okay, yeah, parents do. Okay, I don't know
- 15:35Speaker 3: who I'm quicker on though, the parents are the kids?
- 15:40Speaker 3: Hold on, say that, don't know who I'm quicker tossing.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Oh oh oh, so you're you're now going not just coaches,
- 15:47Speaker 3: You're going parents on players. Yeah, I mean I'm getting
- 15:49Speaker 3: more of everybody. Okay, if I have tournament, Well, look,
- 15:53Speaker 3: they're they're let's let's say this. Let's hope there's very
- 16:00Speaker 3: few ejections in high school sports, regardless of association this year.
- 16:08Speaker 3: How about that. I like the hope.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I mean I don't.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Remember, you know, when when l Hall was dancing at MRI,
- 16:20Speaker 3: we went to a bunch of games. I don't ever
- 16:22Speaker 3: remember anybody getting toss Well, yeah, but it's not the
- 16:25Speaker 3: same games. W you talk about going to MRI football games.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Oh okay, I mean these people get thrown out all
- 16:32Speaker 3: over the then you know these remote spots. Oh, when
- 16:35Speaker 3: it gets when it gets serious, Well that's all they got.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I got you, I got you you're getting tossed. Okay,
- 16:42Speaker 3: Are there really that many people tossed on a Friday
- 16:45Speaker 3: night around the state? And think about how many people
- 16:47Speaker 3: I'd like to know. I mean, I don't know how
- 16:49Speaker 3: you would gauge. I don't know who would have this information. No,
- 16:52Speaker 3: they don't.
- 16:53Speaker 4: They think they have it.
- 16:53Speaker 3: But anyway, I'll throw out the dancing rabbit golf text
- 16:56Speaker 3: line six oh one, eight, eight, five, three, seven and
- 17:00Speaker 3: six when both associations are playing, which I think is
- 17:04Speaker 3: by the time the twenty eighth kicks in, but maybe
- 17:06Speaker 3: it's earlier. How many people do you think are tossed
- 17:11Speaker 3: from Dasota County to Ocean Springs. Oh?
- 17:14Speaker 4: I don't think it's that many.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, but you you seem to be. I
- 17:18Speaker 3: think it's at least week all right, But this is
- 17:19Speaker 3: a good time for a drop. We're not just promoting Mais.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Their schools are outstanding academically and athletically. We're building the
- 17:27Speaker 3: pipeline that keeps Friday nights, Tuesday hoops and spring baseball alive. Okay,
- 17:34Speaker 3: go ahead and jump in and become the next MAIS official.
- 17:39Speaker 3: You can make great money and it's a great experience.
- 17:42Speaker 3: There we go how about that the Mississippi Association of
- 17:46Speaker 3: Independent Schools has a major opportunity to recruit and develop
- 17:50Speaker 3: more high school sports officials for football, basketball, and baseball,
- 17:54Speaker 3: while also elevating awareness around MAIS competition education in the
- 18:00Speaker 3: overall student athlete experience powered by m AIS. We're not
- 18:05Speaker 3: gonna let Jackson Meadows be the head of officials A
- 18:08Speaker 3: smart So Barrett and Ross don't have to worry about that.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Did you?
- 18:12Speaker 4: Did you umpire a bunch of games growing up? Okay?
- 18:15Speaker 3: No, no, no, I guess that would have take that
- 18:19Speaker 3: had probably been outside of your deal. That would have
- 18:21Speaker 3: taken away from me playing the game. Was he to
- 18:25Speaker 3: play in the game or playing the next game?
- 18:27Speaker 4: Okay, got it.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Let's go back to me ranking college football coaches. This
- 18:33Speaker 3: is getting some discussion on the text line. Kurt Signetti won,
- 18:38Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin two, Kirby Smart three. I think then people
- 18:44Speaker 3: would go Ryan Day.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I don't.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I'm not convinced there. I don't put I know he
- 18:49Speaker 3: and a lot of people go, well, and this is
- 18:51Speaker 3: what we do in sports. Well, if Ryan Day has
- 18:54Speaker 3: a national championship, that means he has to be above
- 18:57Speaker 3: like Lane Kiffin. That's not the way I see it.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Lane won at ole Miss. Ryan Day's winning it Ohio State.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Every coach I can think of won at Ohio State. Yeah, okay,
- 19:10Speaker 3: and so not every coach I can think of has
- 19:13Speaker 3: won at ole Miss and show.
- 19:17Speaker 4: It's just a different deal for me.
- 19:19Speaker 3: When's the last time Ohio State had a coach that
- 19:21Speaker 3: didn't win?
- 19:22Speaker 1: Uh?
- 19:25Speaker 3: I got to think that through Luke Fickle doesn't count.
- 19:27Speaker 3: That was an interim coach when Urban Meyer lost his mind.
- 19:31Speaker 3: You know yet Show John Cooper did win. He just
- 19:34Speaker 3: couldn't beat Michigan. He'd go like nine to two, ten
- 19:37Speaker 3: and one every year. And before that, Earl Bruce, I
- 19:41Speaker 3: guess was okay. Obviously what he Hayes was amazing. Tressel
- 19:45Speaker 3: was amazing, Urban was amazing. Ryan Day's been good. We'll
- 19:49Speaker 3: think that through SEC Insider hit coming up next, powered
- 19:53Speaker 3: by Total Transportation of Mississippi tootal ms dot com. Yeah,
- 20:29Speaker 3: good morning, Out of bounds, ESPN one oh five nine,
- 20:35Speaker 3: the zone.
- 20:38Speaker 4: We're live in the bank plus studio be the difference.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Stay in the game. Become an m AIS.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Official today, uh football, basketball, baseball, among other sports. Great
- 20:51Speaker 3: way to make U extra money. Stay in shape, m
- 20:55Speaker 3: A I s is where education, competition and community come together.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Become an m AIS official. Today, here we go out
- 21:05Speaker 3: of bounds ESPN one oh five nine the Zone. I'm
- 21:08Speaker 3: your host, bo Bounce Straight Funk is with us. You'll
- 21:12Speaker 3: get the straight Funk teas of the week. And according
- 21:15Speaker 3: to him, it's a way for you to make all
- 21:17Speaker 3: your Christmas money in the first month of the season. Okay,
- 21:23Speaker 3: have you have you picked out the teas the first one? Yeah?
- 21:28Speaker 4: Okay?
- 21:29Speaker 1: Are we are?
- 21:30Speaker 4: We gonna wait till the week up.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Of course? Okay, just no, it's the same game. I
- 21:36Speaker 3: don't need to move, okay, only need one game for
- 21:39Speaker 3: this one. No, I'll tell you what it is, Okay,
- 21:44Speaker 3: it tells you Clemson, Oh, which is the big game
- 21:49Speaker 3: of the week. Easyus. That's an easy game right there,
- 21:53Speaker 3: All right, easy peasy, it's all sitting right there. I'll
- 21:56Speaker 3: give you the game. I'll wait and tell you what
- 21:58Speaker 3: the tease is later. You do that. You gave me
- 22:01Speaker 3: the game Clemson at LSU. I think this is great
- 22:06Speaker 3: that you picked the marquee game of the weekend, Dabo,
- 22:10Speaker 3: mister anti portal against Kiffyn Mister I love the portal. Okay,
- 22:18Speaker 3: all right? And it's worked out for Kiffyn. He won
- 22:24Speaker 3: a record amount of games at Old Miss. He's the
- 22:29Speaker 3: most successful coach in the history of Old Miss and
- 22:34Speaker 3: the most hated. Yes, and Dabo is calling out his
- 22:40Speaker 3: fan base last year and saying, hey, if you want
- 22:43Speaker 3: to get rid of me, go ahead. Well, okay, it's
- 22:47Speaker 3: a good thing. He played for four national championships and
- 22:49Speaker 3: one two at Clemson. Right, Look, he already got a
- 22:54Speaker 3: little little clout behind him. Oh he's got he got
- 22:58Speaker 3: plenty of it. Yeah, he's got chips, he's got equity.
- 23:02Speaker 4: You can do that.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Now, if you're Joe moorehead you call out the fan base,
- 23:07Speaker 3: you can't do that. So a little bit different deal.
- 23:11Speaker 3: He's still coaches. He's an accurate that he is still
- 23:13Speaker 3: an achron.
- 23:14Speaker 4: We do know that he won.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Just he was like, he was like two and twenty
- 23:18Speaker 3: five and I'm I'm making this up going into last
- 23:21Speaker 3: year and he went like five and will you look
- 23:25Speaker 3: it up? No way, he may have gone five hundred.
- 23:28Speaker 3: If he went five hundred, that's a that's really really good. Well,
- 23:33Speaker 3: and then they did something this off season that people
- 23:37Speaker 3: are talking about it's the best marketing.
- 23:40Speaker 4: No way, I'm not saying he did it the flight part.
- 23:44Speaker 3: They did something that people thought was the most genius
- 23:50Speaker 3: creative thing to do to get people fired up about
- 23:53Speaker 3: a program that's got awful. Okay, he went five and seven.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Yeah, he went five and seven.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Look out, Joe, I know how about Yeah, Joe's determined
- 24:02Speaker 3: that he's a head coach. At the end of the day,
- 24:04Speaker 3: he's in oc It's just and there's nothing wrong with that. No,
- 24:08Speaker 3: I mean, you're still executive level in college football oc DC.
- 24:13Speaker 3: You're still making seven figures. Yeah, I mean Zach Arnett's
- 24:16Speaker 3: making seven figures. A Mississippi State is a deal. I
- 24:19Speaker 3: mean all the way back to Todd Grantham was making
- 24:21Speaker 3: seven figures back in twenty and seventeen or whatever it was.
- 24:24Speaker 3: First one. He was the first one in the state
- 24:27Speaker 3: as a coordinator to be making seven figures. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 3: he was Todd Grantham. When when Dan see Dan, when
- 24:36Speaker 3: you good coaches move off of a coordinator in five
- 24:39Speaker 3: You see this in the NFL, right, but you see
- 24:41Speaker 3: this at programs or with coaches that really know what's
- 24:44Speaker 3: going on. Dan knew that he was going to I
- 24:50Speaker 3: was told this by someone on staff because this is
- 24:53Speaker 3: what played out by game. I don't remember five or six.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Dan knew that he was going to fire Peter Sermon.
- 24:59Speaker 3: He he was never gonna roll Peter Sermon back out.
- 25:03Speaker 4: You can't do that. And so then he got Todd
- 25:06Speaker 4: Grantham and I don't remember.
- 25:09Speaker 3: What year that was, but twenty fourteen, fifteen, No, sixteen, seventeen,
- 25:15Speaker 3: it was seventeen sixteen. Was Peter Sermon, that's right, yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 3: and he was. Peter Sermon was incredible. He was compared
- 25:23Speaker 3: to Coleman hudser I just want you to know kind
- 25:25Speaker 3: of where both of them finished as far as defensive
- 25:28Speaker 3: scoring efficiency. Peter Sermon was light years ahead of Coleman Hudson.
- 25:35Speaker 3: We are the Out of Bounds Show ESPN one oh
- 25:37Speaker 3: five nine to the Zone. We're doing a little bit
- 25:39Speaker 3: of ranking coaches. To me, Kurt Signetti would be number one,
- 25:44Speaker 3: Lane Kiffen would be number two, Kirby Smart would be
- 25:48Speaker 3: number three, and then I think it gets into and
- 25:51Speaker 3: by the way, there's not much difference at all between
- 25:54Speaker 3: those three. They're all really really good. Oh th Lane
- 25:57Speaker 3: doesn't have a national championship, but what he did at
- 26:01Speaker 3: at ole Miss is simply remarkable. Now, after that to me,
- 26:07Speaker 3: it gets blurry with Ryan Day and Marcus Freeman and
- 26:15Speaker 3: Kaylin de Boor.
- 26:17Speaker 4: These are good coaches.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Okay, I'm just you got not everybody can be number
- 26:21Speaker 3: one or not everybody can be in the It's just
- 26:25Speaker 3: like in your not everybody can be the number one
- 26:27Speaker 3: revenue producer or the number one salesperson or the number
- 26:32Speaker 3: one VP of the division that makes the most money
- 26:35Speaker 3: in your company, whatever that is.
- 26:36Speaker 4: You can't.
- 26:38Speaker 3: You can still be really successful. But but for me,
- 26:42Speaker 3: Kurt Signetty one Indiana, Lane Kiffin two, Lsu Kirby Smart Georgia,
- 26:48Speaker 3: then we're in that space. A bron Day Ohio State,
- 26:52Speaker 3: Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame, uh Dan Lanning.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Oregon would be in there.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Uh.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Kaylin de Boor has been a National Championship game and
- 27:03Speaker 3: back to the College Football Playoff.
- 27:07Speaker 5: Uh.
- 27:07Speaker 3: He if he's gonna be in the second tier for me,
- 27:12Speaker 3: and I don't. I think he's smoking mirrors, but I
- 27:14Speaker 3: think he's in the low, low, low second tier. Whether
- 27:18Speaker 3: they were not good last year, but I do expect
- 27:21Speaker 3: them to bounce back this year. They're just too good.
- 27:25Speaker 3: They have too much talent. It's fall on him. There's
- 27:31Speaker 3: loaded with talent. Well, he is a good offensive coordinator.
- 27:36Speaker 3: His head coaching record at Washington and and Southern cal
- 27:41Speaker 3: and other than two you know, he he had that
- 27:43Speaker 3: two year run at Texas, but man losing to Washington
- 27:47Speaker 3: in the in the semi final games against a boor
- 27:51Speaker 3: in Washington, that's a tough one for me. And then
- 27:54Speaker 3: not making it last year in a watered down week
- 27:57Speaker 3: SEC and I know Arch was starting for the first time.
- 28:01Speaker 3: So they did.
- 28:02Speaker 4: They did pick it up a little bit.
- 28:04Speaker 3: They'll be good.
- 28:05Speaker 4: We'll see.
- 28:05Speaker 3: George has got a good schedule, though I didn't think
- 28:07Speaker 3: their schedule last year was good for the SEC. George
- 28:11Speaker 3: has got a pretty damn manageable schedule. But that that
- 28:15Speaker 3: that's how I'm teering it out. Then you got to
- 28:17Speaker 3: start talking Josh Heipel, who I think is done a
- 28:19Speaker 3: good job and gets overlooked way too much. And uh,
- 28:26Speaker 3: we'll see what Lincoln Riley wants to do. Kyle Whittingham
- 28:30Speaker 3: would be somewhere in the second tier. I'm not ready
- 28:35Speaker 3: to go there with el COO quite yet, but he's
- 28:37Speaker 3: done a good job and whitting him fight his way
- 28:41Speaker 3: out of that second tier this year. Sure, if if
- 28:44Speaker 3: they go eleven to one, ten and two at Michigan. Yeah,
- 28:47Speaker 3: and make the College Football Playoff Tier one. We got
- 28:49Speaker 3: to be careful because like the old Missers of the
- 28:51Speaker 3: world in the LSU s, they want to make the
- 28:53Speaker 3: college football Playoff and there's only so many spots. With
- 28:56Speaker 3: Notre Dame schedule, Indiana's schedule, and Penn State schedule, that's
- 29:00Speaker 3: a problem. And knowing that Ohio State's probably gonna make
- 29:03Speaker 3: it right and with the other three having really clean,
- 29:07Speaker 3: nice pass there's just only so many spots. You're gonna
- 29:12Speaker 3: have to cross your fingers and kiss your elbows. You're
- 29:14Speaker 3: not getting in at nine and three. And I don't
- 29:16Speaker 3: think that mean teams are going ten and two in
- 29:18Speaker 3: the SEC with a nine game conference schedule, And I'm
- 29:22Speaker 3: not sure. I don't think if you made me bet
- 29:24Speaker 3: one hundred bucks right now, nobody's going eleven and one
- 29:27Speaker 3: in the SEC. So nine game conference schedule, don't see it.
- 29:31Speaker 3: May have one, maybe two, land on ten and two,
- 29:36Speaker 3: and then you're gonna have a bunch of seven and
- 29:37Speaker 3: five to nine and three teams which you're not gonna
- 29:40Speaker 3: make the college football playoffs. Hey, your SEC insider hit
- 29:44Speaker 3: this morning. Let's get Langkiffen on his Nick Savage's Strengthen

- 30:56Speaker 3: good morning, Welcome in. Somebody asked me if I've the
- 31:00Speaker 3: BUCkies this summer. We did say that we were gonna
- 31:03Speaker 3: do something there. I've got to do something at BUCkies
- 31:06Speaker 3: at some point I will. Evidently a lot of you
- 31:09Speaker 3: have been at you know, because you're roaming around the
- 31:12Speaker 3: beach areas, in the ten corridor wherever you go, the
- 31:16Speaker 3: mountains and whatever. I haven't been. I've never been to one.
- 31:20Speaker 3: But evidently I'm gonna have is.
- 31:22Speaker 4: It beaver nuggets?
- 31:23Speaker 3: Yeah? Okay, evidently I'm gonna have to have one, you know,
- 31:27Speaker 3: and maybe do a video or something stupid like that.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I can't. Now that everybody's gone back home, most everybody
- 31:35Speaker 3: and in school, is now the time that I can
- 31:37Speaker 3: go to BUCkies. I can't drive in there when there's
- 31:39Speaker 3: two hundred and ten cars. Yeah, I'd lose my mind.
- 31:42Speaker 3: I don't think it matters whether they're at home or not.
- 31:44Speaker 3: I think BUCkies are packed. I think they're always that slammed.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but there's still got to be some peak.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Yeah, surely, I Yeah, what Bucky's always peaking? Well, right,
- 31:57Speaker 3: maybe that's the case. That's that's a business model. I
- 32:00Speaker 3: can't believe you haven't been one. What you've really you've
- 32:02Speaker 3: really let the show down. I thought you're talking about peaking,
- 32:05Speaker 3: as I say, I've been peeking, have you? I'm literally
- 32:09Speaker 3: living life at the peak. Okay, I didn't know that.
- 32:13Speaker 3: That's all I can remember was peaking. Okay, okay, yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 3: I don't do there. Well, we'll get lost. It's amazing
- 32:28Speaker 3: that their mascot is a rodent and they talk about clean,
- 32:32Speaker 3: clean bathrooms and good food.
- 32:35Speaker 4: What how's it? What are we talking about? What do
- 32:39Speaker 4: you think it?
- 32:40Speaker 2: Is it?
- 32:41Speaker 1: Really?
- 32:41Speaker 3: I mean, I consider that a nasty animal. What do
- 32:44Speaker 3: you think that's something you go pet? I mean they'll
- 32:47Speaker 3: snip your bells, if you're in a in a river
- 32:50Speaker 3: or something, they will hurt you. I mean how they
- 32:56Speaker 3: were able to sell a billion dollar dollars worth of
- 33:00Speaker 3: merch more than that, but billions of dollars worth of
- 33:06Speaker 3: merch around a rodent and talk about brisket, beaver nuggets
- 33:12Speaker 3: and clean bathrooms. Incredible as humans we are, we it's
- 33:17Speaker 3: just insane the stuff that we are. Crazy, We're we're
- 33:23Speaker 3: just nobody knows anything anyway. I can't believe a beaver
- 33:26Speaker 3: is a rodent. We're all ASTs on a hill and
- 33:28Speaker 3: we'll be gone in twenty minutes. Wow, that mean honors? Rodents?
- 33:35Speaker 4: Where did you come?
- 33:36Speaker 2: What?
- 33:37Speaker 4: How did you go? From beaver to otter?
- 33:39Speaker 3: The same thing pretty much okay, all right, I don't
- 33:43Speaker 3: even know what the hell's going on with you today?
- 33:45Speaker 3: Uh anyway, but they're not rod Man. That's gonna hurt
- 33:49Speaker 3: my brain?
- 33:51Speaker 4: Is that possible?
- 33:53Speaker 1: M Yeah?
- 33:54Speaker 3: When I lose the jeopardy I get hurt. Okay, yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 3: did you play yesterday? I did a little bit.
- 34:00Speaker 4: All right, let's do the well real quick? Did you win?
- 34:03Speaker 3: You can't win, You're just on the count. But I'm
- 34:06Speaker 3: you know, I feel good about it, feel good about
- 34:08Speaker 3: where I'm at. We need to get you my own
- 34:10Speaker 3: jeopardy game. I would love that, all right? Should we
- 34:14Speaker 3: get you to where you're doing happy birthdays for people?
- 34:17Speaker 3: Cameo so that you can make some more money because
- 34:20Speaker 3: I know you can get fifty bucks a pop? Yeah, man,
- 34:22Speaker 3: I mean if you do that a few times a week,
- 34:25Speaker 3: you're making another thousand dollars a month. That is not bad.
- 34:27Speaker 2: One.
- 34:28Speaker 3: I mean, is that shirt on? Shirt off?
- 34:30Speaker 4: Both?
- 34:30Speaker 3: Okay, it depends on what the request is from the
- 34:32Speaker 3: husband or the wife or both have much yeah, because
- 34:35Speaker 3: I mean shirt on is obviously going. You obviously had
- 34:37Speaker 3: your shirt off the other day while you were cleaning,
- 34:40Speaker 3: while you were you were raking on Ridgewood Road and
- 34:43Speaker 3: Lockward realtor to the Stars clean up Jackson videoed you correct,
- 34:49Speaker 3: there is not one ounce a muscle on you.
- 34:53Speaker 1: No need that?
- 34:54Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 34:55Speaker 1: For what I mean?
- 34:56Speaker 3: You you make Larry Bird look ripped there would boss
- 35:00Speaker 3: told us the other day, what do you say then
- 35:01Speaker 3: we got lyft weight, we're shooting jumpers.
- 35:04Speaker 4: M m true.
- 35:06Speaker 3: You were out there with a shirt off, kasty white,
- 35:11Speaker 3: wear a shirt, no muscle toe and your on Ridgewood
- 35:15Speaker 3: Road calls it? What about all those good looking women
- 35:18Speaker 3: coming in and out of uh playing tennis and chardonay lunches.
- 35:22Speaker 1: They know what it is.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Okay, they've seen it out there. Okay, you know they
- 35:26Speaker 3: calls Rex and whatnot. Whatever I mean, I mean these
- 35:29Speaker 3: are I mean there's a lot of dropping off and
- 35:31Speaker 3: picking up that at Covenant right across the street from Okay,
- 35:35Speaker 3: Gotta let them know. Nick Savage is the strengthy conditioning
- 35:40Speaker 3: coordinator for the l s U Tigers. He was also
- 35:43Speaker 3: Dan Mullins strength and conditioning coordinator at Mississippi State and
- 35:48Speaker 3: not the whole time, but at MSU and Florida and uh.
- 35:51Speaker 3: This is what Lane Kippen had to say about his
- 35:53Speaker 3: strength and conditioning coordinator.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Coach Nick Savage and the work that they did in
- 35:58Speaker 6: the off season, you're happy with it. And some of
- 36:01Speaker 6: the guys that were carried over from last year on
- 36:02Speaker 6: the previous team, what noticeable changes they see going from
- 36:06Speaker 6: a new strength coach from last year.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that the strength coach is extremely critical
- 36:13Speaker 5: and one of the most important people in the tire building,
- 36:16Speaker 5: you know, because they have him so much in the
- 36:18Speaker 5: offseason before we even have them, And having coach Savage
- 36:22Speaker 5: with us before and having done a great job with
- 36:25Speaker 5: us was really critical. And to have him here right
- 36:28Speaker 5: away to hit the ground running was really important. And
- 36:32Speaker 5: he's done a great job with an I think a
- 36:33Speaker 5: number of kids. You can ask the returning ones their opinion,
- 36:36Speaker 5: but I don't want to speak for them, but you
- 36:38Speaker 5: see a lot of body changes and guys have really
- 36:41Speaker 5: done a good job. So a lot of credit to him.
- 36:43Speaker 5: He's as good as anybody I've ever been around.
- 36:46Speaker 3: And he was at Mississippi State and then Florida, and
- 36:51Speaker 3: Lane didn't hesitate to pick him up when Mullin was
- 36:54Speaker 3: let go at Florida. I don't know who Mullins is
- 36:58Speaker 3: at UNLB. I did not have when we were together
- 37:01Speaker 3: last October I never even thought about it.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 37:05Speaker 3: All right, So Nick Savage, you know, remember when we
- 37:07Speaker 3: went through that phase where we were obsessed, it was
- 37:10Speaker 3: coming out of the Tommy Moffett Nick Saban deal. Because
- 37:13Speaker 3: whenever a coach does something big, good quick. When he
- 37:20Speaker 3: was right out of the gate at LSU in two
- 37:22Speaker 3: thousand and they were winning one, winning two, winning three,
- 37:26Speaker 3: won the national championship, and the whole Tommy Moffittt thing
- 37:31Speaker 3: blah blah blah. Scott Cochran came out of that family,
- 37:34Speaker 3: that webbed whatever you want to talk about, eventually landed
- 37:37Speaker 3: with Nick Saban at the University of Alabama out of
- 37:42Speaker 3: the Tommy Moffittt tree. And we all know what Tom
- 37:45Speaker 3: Osbourne in Nebraska did in the seventies and eighties. And
- 37:49Speaker 3: then Nick, going through the NFL, took that model and
- 37:54Speaker 3: dropped it into LSU. When you know, Tommy Moffittt was
- 37:59Speaker 3: was the the head strength and conditioning coordinator for LSU
- 38:02Speaker 3: for years. Yeah, I don't think I would like to them.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Oh man, let me tell you when you're talking about
- 38:09Speaker 3: people like, there's a lot of people listening who work
- 38:11Speaker 3: a lot of hours. Oh okay, I mean you're in construction,
- 38:14Speaker 3: you're in transportation, you're in you know, they're doctors. I
- 38:20Speaker 3: mean there's just coaches. High school coaches work a million hours.
- 38:25Speaker 3: The list goes on and on right when you are
- 38:28Speaker 3: the head. And now they have six to eight minimum
- 38:33Speaker 3: assistance in gas, sometimes more, but still you're there every
- 38:38Speaker 3: day at five am, and you've got them shuffling in
- 38:43Speaker 3: and out depending on class schedule and so on. Not
- 38:45Speaker 3: as much so today because now we kind of let
- 38:48Speaker 3: them take almost everything online and or a class or
- 38:53Speaker 3: two heres. And that started even before COVID, but then
- 38:57Speaker 3: was accelerated for Power five athletes after wards.
- 39:01Speaker 4: And power that's say power five. I think I'm at
- 39:03Speaker 4: Power four whatever.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the AAC is not uh power four anyway,
- 39:12Speaker 3: That's what I'm That's my point. Nick Savage. Lane Kiffin
- 39:16Speaker 3: given Savage big time credit for changing bodies and everything else,
- 39:21Speaker 3: maybe even the mindset down at LSU after Brian Kelly
- 39:26Speaker 3: couldn't get it done. And now lane Kiffin takes on
- 39:29Speaker 3: Clemson week one and ole Miss week three. I wonder
- 39:32Speaker 3: what that guy decided if he's gonna take the ten
- 39:35Speaker 3: thousand renting his condo and selling his tickets or if
- 39:38Speaker 3: he's gonna go for the experience of enjoying the weekend
- 39:43Speaker 3: in Oxford and and doing the whole Friday day or
- 39:48Speaker 3: Thursday Friday and then doing the Saturday. I mean there's
- 39:50Speaker 3: gonna be some marathon tailgating on that they don't play
- 39:53Speaker 3: till six forty five that night.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Game day will be out.
- 39:56Speaker 3: There at you know, the crack blank of downright okay,
- 40:00Speaker 3: And a lot of people like to go out there
- 40:01Speaker 3: with their signs and get all rallied up with their
- 40:03Speaker 3: coffee or their Teto's bloody Mary's. Yeah, but you gotta,
- 40:06Speaker 3: you know, not everybody's good at this. You gotta somehow
- 40:09Speaker 3: pace yourself hours and hours in the growth. It's still
- 40:13Speaker 3: gonna be hot, Still gonna be hot, Okay. Game Day
- 40:16Speaker 3: in Oxford, Lane Kiffin in Oxford. Sam Levitt was just
- 40:20Speaker 3: in startbull last year as the quarterback for Arizona State.
- 40:25Speaker 3: He lost, although he did everything he was supposed to
- 40:27Speaker 3: do in the second half and even drove them down
- 40:29Speaker 3: the field to take the lead, and then Mississippi State
- 40:33Speaker 3: threw a walk off to win. But sam Levitt's now
- 40:35Speaker 3: with the quarterback at LSU, and he'll be in bought
- 40:38Speaker 3: hemingway this year, so he'll play in the state of
- 40:41Speaker 3: Mississippi back to back years last year and start will
- 40:45Speaker 3: this year in Oxford and then Mississippi State a few
- 40:47Speaker 3: weeks later will go down to Baton Rouge to play
- 40:51Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin and Sam Levitt and Ed Ozern. Can you
- 40:56Speaker 3: pace yourself with the morning game day and a night
- 40:59Speaker 3: game in Oxford in the grove in between? Is that
- 41:02Speaker 3: even possible?
- 41:03Speaker 4: Are there enough chicken strips? Is there enough ranch dressing
- 41:08Speaker 4: to get through the day? There will? Will it be
- 41:13Speaker 4: a record of chicken strips and ranch dressing in the grove?
- 41:16Speaker 3: Record everything?
- 41:17Speaker 4: Okay?
- 41:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know what they wouldn't. What about that
- 41:20Speaker 3: guy in the hard hat that wore the blue jean
- 41:23Speaker 3: George shorts that was behind Ross York where he's at
- 41:26Speaker 3: and they did that video? He needs to be there? Well,
- 41:29Speaker 3: if he's not, can you even have the game? I wouldn't, right,
- 41:33Speaker 3: they guys, he is. He's imperative.
- 41:36Speaker 4: There you go, he is.
- 41:39Speaker 3: He's an important critical piece of the puzzle. Look at him.
- 41:43Speaker 4: There's no doubt.
- 41:44Speaker 3: I want to know who that is.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Nick was funny here.

- 41:50Speaker 3: y'all are still asking if I've been, and I have it,
- 41:52Speaker 3: but I plan on getting there. Nick says, I'd rather
- 41:56Speaker 3: go to Iran than BUCkies. That's the way I feel
- 42:00Speaker 3: in June or July. Yeah, yeah, no difference. But it's
- 42:04Speaker 3: now August. I think I'm pretty clear. Everybody's back, especially
