- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So, today, we're talking about design and white space, we might
- 0:36be saying, what the heck does this have to do with motivation
- 0:40and feeling good or different ideas and perspective?
- 0:43Well, in design, there is a concept of having white space
- 0:49where your I can rest, where you can see nothing, so to speak,
- 0:55where there's just space because it allows something else to jump
- 0:59out. And when you're working with
- 1:00type, Rafi and photos and trying to catch people's attention.
- 1:06Simplicity is often really, really useful and years ago.
- 1:12Many years ago when I went to design school, this was one
- 1:15concept that I had a really hard time learning because I was so
- 1:19into the vibrant colors. I was so into filling,
- 1:22everything that I could in a frame of a picture or a painting
- 1:26with all this wildness and I'll be first, it was one of the
- 1:31harder classes that I've ever had to deal with in composition
- 1:35when they were talking about, use the use of white space.
- 1:38And it really tripped me up so fast forward, I had to learn it
- 1:45over and over and over and over like many lessons in life.
- 1:48We have to learn them over and over and over and over and this
- 1:52use of white space. Really became something in my
- 1:54world that I struggled with because I kept going back to
- 1:58what I knew and what I knew was Fine.
- 2:01But it wasn't on trend for where we were headed.
- 2:04It wasn't when we were doing design work in a studio that I
- 2:07used to own and it was you had to really pay attention to this
- 2:12piece. So I had to keep changing my
- 2:14perspective over and over and over and it was annoying but
- 2:19eventually I got the gist of it. Eventually I started taking
- 2:23simpler pictures. Eventually I started designing
- 2:27in simpler ways with text and with using white space and it
- 2:31really became something that I enjoy.
- 2:34And now I think I've probably gone to the other end of the
- 2:37spectrum based around the fact that I study mindfulness and
- 2:42mindfulness is all about Simplicity and all about, you
- 2:46know, taking that stripping away, the chaos stripping away,
- 2:50everything that doesn't work in the in the equation so that you
- 2:55can get back to a state of simplicity.
- 2:58Part of what I enjoy, most of all about what I get to do with
- 3:01you guys, is keeping the concept simple short to the point so
- 3:05that you guys can make them work.
- 3:07And you know, the chickens always make me, they
- 3:11consistently remind me of how things I just need to be simple.
- 3:15They are simple creatures and they are super smart contrary to
- 3:19what people think, but they are very simple.
- 3:22And when things are done the right way and then done in the
- 3:24simple way they respond and they loved it right now, they are All
- 3:28engaged in digging about pumpkins because this morning,
- 3:31they're having a feast of all the pumpkins that were out for
- 3:34decorations. And now they're all chunked up
- 3:36and they are just pigging out on them.
- 3:38So that's why it's kind of quiet out here this morning because
- 3:41they've all got pumpkin face, I should take some pictures and
- 3:43put it up so everybody can see it.
- 3:46But anyway, back to this theory of simplicity.
- 3:49So as we are working on this place of Simplicity in our, in
- 3:54our minds and we are trying to create this white Space.
- 3:58If you will for ourselves in mindfulness, this comes into
- 4:02looking at where those points on.
- 4:05And we've talked about purging before but we've never purging
- 4:08our stuff. But really I want to talk today
- 4:11about creating Simplicity in your mind.
- 4:14What's the simplest way to go from point A to point B?
- 4:17How do you make things so simple for yourself that it doesn't
- 4:22have to create those aggravation.
- 4:23So it's a different perspective of looking at something because
- 4:27remember, the more Respectives that you can create the more
- 4:30likely you are to get a better outcome because you've got
- 4:33different perspectives of doing it.
- 4:35So start to look at how you can create more white space that
- 4:41Simplicity that clean. Space not just in your
- 4:44surroundings but in your head. So for me that will come into
- 4:50simplifying lists simplifying, things that I have to get done
- 4:56instead of having just a bunch of Things like today.
- 4:59Perfect example, I had to do a bunch of errands, so I sat down
- 5:02and I actually mapped out how I wanted to drive the route to
- 5:06keep it as simple as possible. So I didn't feel like I was
- 5:08running around everywhere even though I had to go to multiple
- 5:11stores, that helps it. Create Simplicity one, don't
- 5:15complicate things that you don't need to complicate.
- 5:18Most of the time, we make things way more complicated than they
- 5:22need to be especially when it comes to dealing with the
- 5:24holidays. So look at how can you make this
- 5:27holiday season? Simpler for yourself.
- 5:29How can you make it so that you don't feel overwhelmed by it and
- 5:33keep it clean and tight and easy.
- 5:37So you don't feel overwhelmed by it.
- 5:39If that means doing a little bit more shopping online, don't feel
- 5:44bad about it. If it's going to keep you sane,
- 5:46if it means giving fewer gifts, don't feel bad about it.
- 5:50Simply say this is not a time where I think it's going to be
- 5:53good for me to exchange. Be honest with people if you
- 5:55feel that way in your lamenting giving gifts Talk about it or
- 6:00keep it simple and just do something that people love,
- 6:03maybe just keep the gifts really, really simple and really
- 6:07inexpensive cook for somebody do something.
- 6:10That means something to them as opposed to spending money on it
- 6:14and putting yourself into debt over it.
- 6:17But in any event, this is all about Simplicity and creating
- 6:20white space in your head. So work on that see where those
- 6:23Hang-Ups are and try to figure out how to get rid of all that
- 6:26clutter. I hope you guys.
- 6:28Eyes. Have a very blessed day and I
- 6:29will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
