- 0:04Speaker 1: Show or DM the Driver's Show in Ista page to
- 0:07Speaker 1: see what Paul and Gordy can do for you.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Somehow they made the shootest looking car look even shitter.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Did you see the launch like you may as well
- 0:17Speaker 2: have just said, ladies and gentlemen, we give you long
- 0:23Speaker 2: term effects of ketamine.
- 0:26Speaker 3: That's what is England like.
- 0:27Speaker 1: The Driver's Show with Paul Marrick and Gordy Waters.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to the Driver's Show. My name is
- 0:42Speaker 2: Gordon and this is my fat little compadre Pablay. We
- 0:48Speaker 2: use our full names for taxation reasons.
- 0:51Speaker 4: I have a selection of Dorito's beef jerky and grain
- 0:54Speaker 4: waves from your little shop down there.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yes, and he is eating them straight from Donna's belly button.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I see you are sniffing up sniffing those crumbs too.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Just offer a butt check, which was weird.
- 1:09Speaker 2: How are you?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah? Good, it's been a hot minute.
- 1:12Speaker 5: I know, it's just been very busy, I think for
- 1:15Speaker 5: both of us for different reasons.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Yeah, you've just lost your job.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I'm not destiny.
- 1:22Speaker 4: That was your colleague.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yes, we can't talk about this, by the way, for
- 1:28Speaker 2: Alice god, you think we were in legal ship before.
- 1:31Speaker 2: We definitely can't talk about this stuff now you I
- 1:35Speaker 2: definitely can't. Yeah, but yeah, good times and great classics.
- 1:40Speaker 2: That is probably where I'm eating.
- 1:43Speaker 4: The right age bracket.
- 1:45Speaker 3: How dare you?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah? Sorry, I'm trying to drop the kgs and oh
- 1:52Speaker 2: my god, I got I've got a wild story to
- 1:53Speaker 2: tell you. Actually it's nothing about cars. But my brother
- 1:56Speaker 2: was in the surf last weekend on the Sunshine Coast,
- 2:01Speaker 2: just doing a bit of what do you call it
- 2:03Speaker 2: when you jump through the waves, like body body boarding, bodysurfing,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and he broke his neck?
- 2:09Speaker 4: Oh my god? Yeah, is he okay?
- 2:12Speaker 2: Well yeah, but like he went to he got he
- 2:15Speaker 2: had to be choppered to the Sorry, shouldn't be laughing.
- 2:19Speaker 2: They had to chop her into a hospital. I'm only
- 2:22Speaker 2: laughing because he made.
- 2:24Speaker 3: The news up there. Oh my god.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And then he said, a seventy year old man, is
- 2:29Speaker 2: it a critical condition?
- 2:31Speaker 4: How old is he?
- 2:32Speaker 2: He's like forty eight. He's lived a hard life like Messelle.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Oh god, they just assumed because most people would just
- 2:40Speaker 4: get up and.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah, actually kudos telling him like he after this happened?
- 2:47Speaker 4: When was this?
- 2:48Speaker 3: He walked up the beach.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It was last literally last weekend, and he walked sort
- 2:55Speaker 2: of out of the water and then he just sort
- 2:58Speaker 2: of collapsed down and then life savers came and then
- 3:01Speaker 2: he walked to his car and he collapsed again. And
- 3:06Speaker 2: then the next thing, you know, the ambulance chopper has
- 3:10Speaker 2: come and got him, and he went to you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: the hospital and stuff like that there and they sort
- 3:16Speaker 2: of did scans, but it's you know, the hospitals when
- 3:18Speaker 2: you're regional. Apparently this one was very good. But then
- 3:21Speaker 2: he went down here and they did more scans because
- 3:24Speaker 2: they're like, do we have to operate all that?
- 3:27Speaker 3: And yeah, apparently he became he.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Was he was millimeters away from becoming a quadriplegic. Yeah, yeah, which.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Oh and I mean, this is why I don't exercise.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, this is why I don't take my shirt off.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Wow's there's a few other reasons, cord order. There's a
- 3:47Speaker 2: few health and safety issues, mainly for the public. I
- 3:54Speaker 2: once took my shirt off and a woman actually died
- 3:57Speaker 2: of horniness.
- 3:59Speaker 3: That's true story.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I'm just gonna eat this grainway when I do, we
- 4:10Speaker 2: should get a call from Donner. By the way, you
- 4:12Speaker 2: should give her a call. We'll do it, and we'll
- 4:14Speaker 2: save that call for the end of the show. Don't
- 4:16Speaker 2: say anything, just keep fucking eating. Oh exciting news though,
- 4:21Speaker 2: very exciting news has come out this week. There is
- 4:25Speaker 2: finally a car uglier than the Kia Tasmin. Yes, I
- 4:33Speaker 2: am talking about the new Nis and Duke. Oh yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 2: it's unfortunate, isn't it. Do you know what's hilarious is
- 4:41Speaker 2: did you see the launch where they've got the curtain
- 4:45Speaker 2: over the car and.
- 4:50Speaker 3: The lights is all this build up.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you, and then they take
- 4:59Speaker 2: the curtain off, and then everyone's like, it's like you
- 5:09Speaker 2: may as well have just said, ladies and gentlemen, we
- 5:12Speaker 2: give you long term effects of ketamine.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Because that's what his thing looked like.
- 5:21Speaker 2: What the fuck were they deciding?
- 5:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I think if you haven't seen it, immediately look
- 5:27Speaker 5: it up because it is it looks.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Like something from a judge like Judge Dread.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and look at this is the thing right Listen.
- 5:34Speaker 5: They're kind of in a spot and you either need
- 5:37Speaker 5: to do something extraordinary or just go out of business.
- 5:40Speaker 5: And I think they're they're trying the extraordinary thing. But
- 5:44Speaker 5: I don't know if it will work.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I guess they've had to throw something at it,
- 5:50Speaker 2: but fuck, they really.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Threw everything at it. Everything.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Hey, let's like, let's make those wheels look like spiderwebs
- 5:58Speaker 2: that are fucking come from some weird American music festival.
- 6:04Speaker 3: It was just the weirdest thing ever.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I just love how they like they really
- 6:12Speaker 2: have to be credited to make Somehow they made.
- 6:15Speaker 3: The shittest looking car look even shitter.
- 6:22Speaker 4: But it's old ladies that buy them. Yeah, maybe they
- 6:25Speaker 4: love looking a bit like they're twenty three when they're eighty.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Jesus Christ. Futuristic doors. I'll get their bloody
- 6:35Speaker 2: the bottom of their tits caught in.
- 6:36Speaker 5: This is the thing, right, All of this stuff has
- 6:39Speaker 5: lag times. So the guy that's now in charge used
- 6:43Speaker 5: to be their technical director. Really good guy knows cars,
- 6:46Speaker 5: loves cars. This car was designed when he was not
- 6:50Speaker 5: in charge of the whole thing. So for him to
- 6:53Speaker 5: have effect and change, there's probably still another couple.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Of years left.
- 6:57Speaker 2: So he's got to get everything that's been sitting in
- 6:59Speaker 2: the pipeline.
- 7:00Speaker 5: The just go just get it out the door. Let's
- 7:03Speaker 5: fix this later because you can't start from scratchingings. They
- 7:06Speaker 5: will have done all the engineering work on it, the
- 7:08Speaker 5: design work, so he's got his work cut out for him.
- 7:11Speaker 5: But you've got to keep the company afloat for another
- 7:13Speaker 5: couple of years to clear out all that stuff.
- 7:15Speaker 4: So it's.
- 7:18Speaker 5: And you'll get the Navara I mean, Navara is a
- 7:20Speaker 5: prime example of not caring. Yeah, they've just taken a
- 7:23Speaker 5: try and swap some badges and they're already doing finance
- 7:26Speaker 5: offers and the thing and.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Put it with different Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 5: So yeah, I think they're in big trouble and they
- 7:31Speaker 5: need to hurry up with the clearing out stuff thing.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Yeah, to be interesting to see where they go with that,
- 7:37Speaker 6: because I sort of look at that and I go, well,
- 7:40Speaker 6: that's now, because it's so bold, it's probably going to
- 7:45Speaker 6: set the precedent for the rest of their design language
- 7:48Speaker 6: for the next few years.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Exactly. That's the problem. Mmm, more of that to come.
- 7:52Speaker 2: What's next up with them? Like, what's what's what are
- 7:55Speaker 2: we looking for next?
- 7:56Speaker 5: Well, logically you've got to think that X trail. It's
- 8:00Speaker 5: been out for a little bit of time now, so
- 8:02Speaker 5: that look, that's we'll see.
- 8:05Speaker 3: You might have a bit of an idea.
- 8:06Speaker 5: I'm not sure what else they got coming. Patrol was
- 8:10Speaker 5: just launched, Navarro was just launched.
- 8:14Speaker 2: What else do they see and Patrol's is that the
- 8:17Speaker 2: new one with the really good updated interior.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but that the new V six version still is
- 8:22Speaker 4: in Australia.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Oh okay, they got rid of the Warrior, didn't.
- 8:25Speaker 4: They like the V eight They will when the V
- 8:28Speaker 4: six comes.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I love that we're doing a podcast and you still
- 8:31Speaker 2: can't stop stuff in your face and chips.
- 8:34Speaker 5: No, So the V six is coming, yeah, and at
- 8:37Speaker 5: that point they'll kill the V eight.
- 8:39Speaker 3: What a time?
- 8:40Speaker 4: Speaking of what a time?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yea.
- 8:41Speaker 4: As we speak now.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I'm currently putting down a mortgage on a full tanker Patrol.
- 8:47Speaker 5: Even worse if you're driving a diesel. Yeah, but yeah
- 8:50Speaker 5: it is. It is crazy out there. And last month's
- 8:53Speaker 5: sales figures for electric cars fully electric cars basically doubled
- 8:57Speaker 5: in terms of the sales, So there's there's been a
- 8:59Speaker 5: huge increase in people wanting an electric car. BYD has
- 9:03Speaker 5: a boat and they literally run their own boat.
- 9:06Speaker 3: They have a giant factory in China that is a
- 9:08Speaker 3: Trive factory.
- 9:09Speaker 4: But the important thing is they run their own boats.
- 9:11Speaker 4: So they don't have any shipping problems. They've just loaded
- 9:13Speaker 4: a ship with thirty thousand cars. They normally send about
- 9:16Speaker 4: ten thousand to Australia. Got thirty thousand cars coming.
- 9:19Speaker 5: So you're going to see a lot more Chinese cars
- 9:22Speaker 5: on the road and a lot more people driving electric cars. Now,
- 9:25Speaker 5: is it the right choice? I mean, as we stand
- 9:28Speaker 5: today when we record this, this should be over in
- 9:31Speaker 5: the next month.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Because if it's not, you'd hope it's going to be
- 9:34Speaker 3: over within the next part.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Yeah, if it's not, the car you drive is going
- 9:37Speaker 5: to be the least of our problems because we're not
- 9:39Speaker 5: going to have transport for food that we eat and.
- 9:43Speaker 4: A litany of other things.
- 9:44Speaker 5: You're going to have ironically coal for the electric car
- 9:46Speaker 5: you've just bought, So there's going to be a lot
- 9:48Speaker 5: of problems there. So buying an electric car just because
- 9:52Speaker 5: it's a little expensive at the moment isn't a smart
- 9:54Speaker 5: idea unless you were already going to do it and
- 9:57Speaker 5: you've already done your research. Because a lot of people
- 9:59Speaker 5: with knee jerk reactions will go and buy the cheapest
- 10:02Speaker 5: thing they can or the wrong thing because it was
- 10:04Speaker 5: in stock and available and it's in stock and available
- 10:06Speaker 5: for a reason, you might end up with a car
- 10:09Speaker 5: in five years time you can't get rid of, you
- 10:11Speaker 5: don't have parts for, you can't service.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Prime example of this was XPANEP.
- 10:15Speaker 5: So just overnight they basically the Australian division went into
- 10:20Speaker 5: administration or receivership, not so entirely short the differences between
- 10:24Speaker 5: the two, but basically the financier came and said, we're
- 10:27Speaker 5: going to take possession of the cars that you have
- 10:30Speaker 5: on dock at the moment. So these are cars that
- 10:33Speaker 5: were meant to be sold to customers. The customer Facebook
- 10:37Speaker 5: group had had now for a couple of months issues
- 10:40Speaker 5: with customers saying, oh, has anyone got their five grand
- 10:44Speaker 5: cash back? Has anyone got these warranty claims sorted? So
- 10:47Speaker 5: for a little while now they've had issues with actually
- 10:51Speaker 5: being able to operate and use this company because this
- 10:54Speaker 5: has all been brewing in the background. So it appears
- 10:57Speaker 5: that xpen Global wants to take over the importership because
- 11:01Speaker 5: at the moment is just run by a subsidiary.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Ye like a private importer.
- 11:06Speaker 5: So to do it they've strong armed someone because they've
- 11:10Speaker 5: now taken possession of the loans that were kind of
- 11:13Speaker 5: on top of these cars coming into the country. Okay,
- 11:17Speaker 5: it's fine, you'll end up with a solution. Xping is
- 11:19Speaker 5: a massive company. The parent company isn't going out of business.
- 11:23Speaker 5: But the question is who's honoring the cash back, who's
- 11:26Speaker 5: honoring all the warranty claims.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Does that sit with.
- 11:29Speaker 5: The previous guys that are now out of business or
- 11:31Speaker 5: does it sit with Xping. So this is just a
- 11:34Speaker 5: prime example of why you shouldn't rush out and buy
- 11:36Speaker 5: something because it's got five grand off and free servicing.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Is you end up in a situation where if they
- 11:40Speaker 5: decide to pull out of the country, they are going
- 11:42Speaker 5: to respect any rules that we have about parts that
- 11:45Speaker 5: you have to keep in the country. I don't think
- 11:47Speaker 5: that even happens at the moment. So yeah, it is
- 11:50Speaker 5: just it is worth just being careful.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's an amazing one.
- 11:53Speaker 2: And because we're being flooded with all these ev brands
- 11:56Speaker 2: who really kind of have to the average Joe blow
- 11:58Speaker 2: is kind of going to go, oh, they look good,
- 12:01Speaker 2: that looks good. That's a good price, let's go with here,
- 12:03Speaker 2: and and that's a fair enough assumption. But yeah, they've
- 12:08Speaker 2: really got to be vigilant on what they're picking. You'd
- 12:12Speaker 2: want to sort of go with companies that have been
- 12:15Speaker 2: here already for a couple of years. I think by
- 12:17Speaker 2: D is obviously a good option. MG is probably a
- 12:19Speaker 2: good option if they're going to go down the cheaper end,
- 12:24Speaker 2: do you know what I mean?
- 12:25Speaker 5: You've got options there and it's worth considering as well.
- 12:27Speaker 5: You know, yes, fuel is expensive at the moment, but
- 12:29Speaker 5: have a think about how you're consuming it. And no,
- 12:34Speaker 5: this is not a paid sponsorship.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Is this where you give us the fucking elbow like, well,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I think you should do is car Paul when you
- 12:43Speaker 2: need to and you know, make sure your tires are inflated.
- 12:48Speaker 5: How bad anyway, I've got to catch my jet to
- 12:51Speaker 5: another country.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly, I'm going to fucking take my private
- 12:55Speaker 2: jet to another country. How about you stop fucking jacking
- 12:58Speaker 2: up some of the dirtiest fuel in the fucking world
- 13:01Speaker 2: and start like topping up the reserves. Slow mo ah,
- 13:05Speaker 2: very good, I see what you I just made that
- 13:07Speaker 2: up on the spot.
- 13:08Speaker 5: So yeah, look, it is worth just considering basic stuff
- 13:11Speaker 5: like check your tire pressures. That is an easy win
- 13:14Speaker 5: because if you're underinflated, you're using more fuel. If you're overinflated,
- 13:18Speaker 5: you're using less fuel, but it's not as safe. You've
- 13:20Speaker 5: got a placard inside your door that tells you the
- 13:22Speaker 5: tire pressure is near to run if you've got like
- 13:25Speaker 5: one hundred kilos worth of random crap in your car,
- 13:28Speaker 5: get rid of that as well.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Can you? Can you talk to my wife about that?
- 13:31Speaker 2: She's fucking classic. Actually it's so funny because I'm driving
- 13:35Speaker 2: my mom. I should be saying this because my father
- 13:37Speaker 2: in law listens to this podcast, but I'm driving my
- 13:40Speaker 2: mother in law's car at the moment. She's very similar
- 13:43Speaker 2: to my wife. Like anything that is storage space she
- 13:47Speaker 2: will like and I'm talking cup holders as well, she
- 13:51Speaker 2: will manage to staff things in there as if we
- 13:55Speaker 2: are about to go into some sort of another war,
- 13:58Speaker 2: Like well, well, she's probably the smartest one of us
- 14:02Speaker 2: all because there is like, oh my god, she's got
- 14:05Speaker 2: like a water supply in the back of that car.
- 14:07Speaker 4: That is hilarious.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Yeah, water is heavy, so I'd get rid of that, man.
- 14:10Speaker 5: But yeah, refracts ruth pods.
- 14:13Speaker 4: These things will massively add to your fuel consumption.
- 14:15Speaker 5: So instead of going and spending fifty grand on a
- 14:18Speaker 5: new car that isn't going to be worth it anything
- 14:20Speaker 5: because the company goes out of business. Just do the
- 14:23Speaker 5: simple stuff and you'll find that you will actually spend
- 14:25Speaker 5: less on fuel.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Oh you've got boring.
- 14:29Speaker 2: So I'm just talking about fucking rooffraction, saving fuel and
- 14:33Speaker 2: just just trying to eat. Do you know? Got my
- 14:38Speaker 2: got my first taste of jacob hilarious affordable car in
- 14:46Speaker 2: the EB saying I reckon, it's actually quite good. It's
- 14:48Speaker 2: quite a good looking car. Interior looks really cool and
- 14:52Speaker 2: on the outside as well, the interior is quite a
- 14:54Speaker 2: funny one.
- 14:55Speaker 3: By the way. This was the Jacu J five.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I think around about thirty five bacoe. What I love
- 15:02Speaker 2: is they've kind of gone down this theme of it's
- 15:07Speaker 2: a really good car if you've got pets and or kids.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Because the interior, which.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I've never even heard of before, but they've got this
- 15:15Speaker 2: thing where it's like it's bacteria resistant and it's easy
- 15:21Speaker 2: to wipe down. And I don't know if your press
- 15:23Speaker 2: car had this, but I opened the back of mine
- 15:25Speaker 2: and I had this weird cage in the back.
- 15:29Speaker 4: I was like, what is this inside?
- 15:31Speaker 2: And then in the cage they had this plastic pod
- 15:34Speaker 2: and I'm like, hang on, and it was all branded
- 15:37Speaker 2: Jacob right, and I'm like, what is that plastic pod?
- 15:40Speaker 2: And it was one of those plastic pods you know
- 15:42Speaker 2: that you see like Japanese girls put on their back
- 15:46Speaker 2: carry like a backpack and put their cat in the back. Yeah,
- 15:50Speaker 2: and that was like it was like a Jacu pussy carrier.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Oh interesting, yeah, most yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So it's good if you want to have if you
- 16:00Speaker 2: want to if you want to have your puss on
- 16:02Speaker 2: the go and you want to cover over it as well.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I did have a cheeky little sea through window. So
- 16:08Speaker 2: given a bit of a cheeky looking at your pulse,
- 16:13Speaker 2: I jking for doing that. I support them. I quite
- 16:17Speaker 2: enjoy that. I quite enjoy a car that's a bit
- 16:21Speaker 2: of a pulse value in the back. But look, thirty
- 16:26Speaker 2: five grand, great interior grade design. I uctually it was
- 16:29Speaker 2: really impressed with this car. I mean, it doesn't do
- 16:32Speaker 2: it kind of does what it says on the box.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It's going to It's very much a great a to
- 16:37Speaker 2: b get around town carry your pussy kind of car,
- 16:41Speaker 2: do you know what I mean?
- 16:41Speaker 5: But that's an example of a car that you don't
- 16:43Speaker 5: have to spend a lot of money on Cherry is
- 16:46Speaker 5: the parent company great enormous company, Yeah, big presence in Australia.
- 16:50Speaker 4: That is a safe bet. And thirty five grand I
- 16:53Speaker 4: mean even.
- 16:53Speaker 5: If you lose fifty percent of the value, it's barely yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 5: barely that much of a big deal.
- 16:58Speaker 4: And those cars as well.
- 17:00Speaker 5: If you do go down the path of an EV,
- 17:02Speaker 5: make sure you do your research on novated leasing because
- 17:04Speaker 5: that fringe benefits tax exemption is still there.
- 17:07Speaker 4: A lot of people don't understand.
- 17:08Speaker 5: If you get a car from your work, you have
- 17:10Speaker 5: to pay fringe benefits tax on any private usage of it,
- 17:13Speaker 5: whereas there's an exemption now for electric vehicles under the
- 17:16Speaker 5: luxury car tax threshold, which is like eighty nine or
- 17:20Speaker 5: something for an EV, So it means that you can
- 17:22Speaker 5: have an electric car that is subsidized by pre tax salary.
- 17:27Speaker 5: You're reducing your taxable income. If you're going to buy
- 17:29Speaker 5: a car anyway, then why not. But yeah, just don't
- 17:32Speaker 5: rush into it if you don't have to.
- 17:34Speaker 2: As a motoring journalist, what's the what's the most spirited
- 17:40Speaker 2: little tax return that you've managed to tax deduction you've
- 17:43Speaker 2: managed to score yourself? What do you mean, Well, you
- 17:46Speaker 2: know we do a bit of this and that.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I don't know what you know? Yeah, what are you doing?
- 17:53Speaker 4: Got it? That's a twitch?
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, just going yes, twitch again on video?
- 18:01Speaker 3: Just getting his.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Tax return at a Christmas party. What's kittens?
- 18:08Speaker 4: It's one of those bags that was in the jaku
- 18:10Speaker 4: was it?
- 18:11Speaker 3: Got it? Yeah?
- 18:13Speaker 5: Okay, it's just dance class that we did for the team.
- 18:17Speaker 4: No girls allowed.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Who's I can't tell if this is Sonya because it's
- 18:23Speaker 2: spelt with like an x.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It must be. It must be a new Chinese ev
- 18:28Speaker 3: brain coming to.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Sounds like, yeah, it must be rough around the Yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 2: speaking of like expensive fuel, Are you still thinking you'll
- 18:38Speaker 2: get a super duty?
- 18:40Speaker 4: Well?
- 18:40Speaker 5: I think I've got one in order. The dealers just
- 18:42Speaker 5: ghosting me. Oh, I know what's going on. It's like,
- 18:45Speaker 5: just am I Do I have a car?
- 18:47Speaker 4: Do I not? Why is no one?
- 18:48Speaker 5: That's why is it so hard to just buy? I
- 18:50Speaker 5: have money to give you for a car?
- 18:53Speaker 4: Just respond to me.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Wow, so you haven't heard anything from the dealer. That's
- 18:57Speaker 3: not a good sign.
- 18:58Speaker 4: And I put a deposit down like a year ago.
- 19:01Speaker 4: I reckon, yeah, so you have to get that back.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I had the I had the super Duty the other
- 19:06Speaker 2: week and I had the single gab the rual farmer's car.
- 19:10Speaker 2: You know what, you know what it reminds me of
- 19:12Speaker 2: the Super Duty reminds me of have you have you
- 19:15Speaker 2: seen Land Man?
- 19:16Speaker 4: Yes?
- 19:16Speaker 3: I love what a show. I love it. We're obsessed
- 19:20Speaker 3: with it.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It's like one of the few shows me and my
- 19:23Speaker 2: missus can sit down and like thoroughly enjoy, Like she
- 19:26Speaker 2: loves fucking I don't know what she loves the Housewives
- 19:30Speaker 2: of Summer House shit or something, but yeah, this is
- 19:36Speaker 2: like one of those shows where I'm like, oh my god,
- 19:38Speaker 2: this is incredible, and I think they're drive around in
- 19:40Speaker 2: super Duties in that show.
- 19:41Speaker 5: Yeah, they've got the real ones, but yeah, that is
- 19:45Speaker 5: what this is modeled on. It's just like a mini
- 19:47Speaker 5: version of it, and they're just you know, the f series.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Super Duties are proper that miss about and they've been
- 19:55Speaker 5: doing those for such a long time.
- 19:56Speaker 2: It's quite funny because they're obviously driving around Texas on
- 19:58Speaker 2: highways and also like oil rigging site, so it's a
- 20:01Speaker 2: little bit of a different one. But this, this Super Duty,
- 20:04Speaker 2: this single cab, fucking big big tray on it. It's
- 20:08Speaker 2: like you can fit a king size bed on it.
- 20:11Speaker 2: But it really is. I mean it's it's not something
- 20:14Speaker 2: like if you've got a raptor and you want to
- 20:15Speaker 2: get something bigger, you wouldn't go for this single cab
- 20:18Speaker 2: tray of this. You just it's really a trady slash
- 20:22Speaker 2: farmer's car. I think it's overkill for anything else.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Yeah, one hundred percent, and the tray is expensive. It's
- 20:29Speaker 5: heavy duty, but I mean I'll scratched the shit out
- 20:32Speaker 5: of the one where you had pushing a fiberglass ladder
- 20:34Speaker 5: on it, So I don't know how heavy duty this
- 20:36Speaker 5: thing is.
- 20:36Speaker 3: But good to see Paul Pablo there is really trading
- 20:40Speaker 3: these press cars.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Well well, it's just like I'll put a ladder in it,
- 20:43Speaker 5: and then I get the ladder out, I'm.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Like, what the hell has happened to this? And it's
- 20:46Speaker 4: scratched like all the way through to.
- 20:47Speaker 2: The it's an aluminum tray. Really fucking hell, it was yours?
- 20:51Speaker 4: Mine was painted black?
- 20:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, now mine was like your full alba.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Mine was painted black. But it's like the paint was
- 20:58Speaker 4: just like.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I would you know, I've never even seen
- 21:03Speaker 2: one painted black?
- 21:04Speaker 4: Yeah, god, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I quite liked it. But the I guess the
- 21:10Speaker 2: one you would be getting is in the tray. One
- 21:12Speaker 2: you're getting like the built in body tray and a
- 21:15Speaker 2: dual cab hopefully, hopefully Jesus, that's going to well, is
- 21:19Speaker 2: it going to cost you a bit? Is it going
- 21:20Speaker 2: to cost you more than the rap Did you reckon
- 21:22Speaker 2: in fuel?
- 21:23Speaker 4: Well?
- 21:24Speaker 5: Yeah, it uses about as much fuel as a Raptor,
- 21:27Speaker 5: it just diesel, which is more expensive. Right now, I
- 21:30Speaker 5: just think that they've det you in the engine it
- 21:32Speaker 5: needs ad blue.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Do you reckon?
- 21:34Speaker 3: They're having some issues with this car.
- 21:36Speaker 5: I think they're having issues moving it because I've seen
- 21:38Speaker 5: heaps around. We get really big discounts on cars through
- 21:43Speaker 5: our marketplace team and people buy cars through us, So
- 21:47Speaker 5: I don't think they'll have issues with the XLT so
- 21:49Speaker 5: that's going to have more features and then the Star
- 21:51Speaker 5: side version. But yeah, this one doesn't seem to be
- 21:54Speaker 5: rushing out the door.
- 21:55Speaker 2: No, I thought they would have. I thought they would
- 21:57Speaker 2: have brought in there what do we now were don't
- 21:59Speaker 2: at the end of it all. I thought they would
- 22:01Speaker 2: have brought in the new slightly look slightly updated Wild
- 22:07Speaker 2: Track as well.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know what I reckon, They're reading the
- 22:10Speaker 5: tea leaves. You don't want to be pushing some new
- 22:13Speaker 5: diesel thing right now. If you're going to launch it,
- 22:15Speaker 5: you'd be like, I just give that a mouth.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I still want one.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah? Interesting, Oh guess what? I guess what? Gordon jumped in. Finally,
- 22:26Speaker 2: little Jimney too.
- 22:27Speaker 4: He comes Gordon to a three door or a five door?
- 22:30Speaker 3: Well both okay? An your order order? Yeah, but no,
- 22:37Speaker 3: fuck you. I liked it.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I like and I don't care who who has it going?
- 22:41Speaker 2: I thought the auto was fine. Maybe I've got ship
- 22:43Speaker 2: to do, I've got places to be. Might you would
- 22:47Speaker 2: be in that camp that would be all it's not
- 22:49Speaker 2: a proper car, it's not a manual.
- 22:52Speaker 5: I'm just in the camp of you go to a
- 22:53Speaker 5: hill and that auto just does not work.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but I can't also be fucked with like a
- 22:58Speaker 2: handbrake to McCall it.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Did you have room on the palm rec pussy bag?
- 23:07Speaker 4: Did you hang it off the spare time?
- 23:10Speaker 3: It was too big? It was a big old bussy
- 23:15Speaker 3: do you know what.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I was surprised that one, just how much because I
- 23:19Speaker 2: was sort of thinking this would be a great fun car,
- 23:21Speaker 2: like a car to get away with on a weekend,
- 23:24Speaker 2: do some sand stuff, do some like dumb camping and
- 23:28Speaker 2: one of those rooftop tens. It's just a fun weekend car.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Also around Sydney especially, it's a great one with car
- 23:34Speaker 2: parks and just fucking getting around town. And you don't
- 23:39Speaker 2: have to care about it, do you know what I mean?
- 23:41Speaker 2: You can just chuck the kid in the dog whatever.
- 23:44Speaker 2: It's fine. And I was surprised I would I thought
- 23:48Speaker 2: I would like the four door more than the two door,
- 23:51Speaker 2: but I'm definitely a two door fan. Yeah, and I'm
- 23:54Speaker 2: surprised how differently they drive too.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Yes, one's built in India, one's built in Japan.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Oh.
- 24:00Speaker 4: The Indian built one, I think is a c k D.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Which is a complete knockdown where they send all the
- 24:06Speaker 5: parts over and they whack it back together. I think
- 24:09Speaker 5: they're different structurally as well, and definitely a weight difference
- 24:13Speaker 5: between them.
- 24:14Speaker 4: The same engine, but just much heavier in the five door.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it looks so much slower.
- 24:18Speaker 2: My dad was thinking of buying one for my mum
- 24:21Speaker 2: and I said, go go the two door, and he
- 24:25Speaker 2: just in his head thought it had two seats in it.
- 24:27Speaker 2: I'm like, no, it's got seats in the back because
- 24:28Speaker 2: they've got a dog. I'm like, but you guys, you
- 24:32Speaker 2: guys don't even need those back seats. You fold them
- 24:34Speaker 2: down and that's your boot. Like it's actually it's pretty good.
- 24:38Speaker 2: But yeah, it's really shocked on how different those cars are.
- 24:43Speaker 2: One is definitely heavier, not as responsive, obviously, I'm talking
- 24:48Speaker 2: about the four door. The two door is just great.
- 24:50Speaker 2: It's so good. It's just it's nimble. It's a simple,
- 24:53Speaker 2: stripped down just a it's a you know, there's no
- 24:56Speaker 2: power steering. It's just I don't know, it just feels
- 24:59Speaker 2: like a real pure old school car's.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Got a hydraulic assisted steering.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah, technically bank and whatever.
- 25:08Speaker 5: That's why I reckon I need to bring the FJ here,
- 25:11Speaker 5: the little Toyota thing there was at the Tokyo Motor Show,
- 25:14Speaker 5: the little FJ.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Oh oh, yes, of course, sorry, yeah, the baby FJ.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Yeah, they need to bring that here because it's got
- 25:22Speaker 5: a much more modern interior, similar concept, slightly punch your engine,
- 25:27Speaker 5: you know, based on the highlight chassis.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Like it's yeah, yeah, that didn't look like the true
- 25:33Speaker 2: FJA though, No, it's like a mini version of it.
- 25:35Speaker 3: I don't know. About that one.
- 25:36Speaker 2: What was I going to say that was I had
- 25:37Speaker 2: fucking I had a thought in my head, in my brains.
- 25:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know, Jimmy, it's a good car.
- 25:43Speaker 2: What do you make of him?
- 25:45Speaker 5: Yeah, look, they're fine, but I just think it needs
- 25:47Speaker 5: to be a manual. And I understand there's a convenience
- 25:49Speaker 5: with the auto, but the first hill you get to,
- 25:51Speaker 5: you will and if you have people in the car
- 25:53Speaker 5: and it will be through the board. The thing is
- 25:55Speaker 5: screaming and it's going nowhere.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yeah. I did notice that, like going like one hundred
- 25:59Speaker 2: and ten on a highway with.
- 26:01Speaker 5: The stag if it's windy, it's not great. So they're
- 26:04Speaker 5: fine for things, but they've started increasing the price. You know,
- 26:08Speaker 5: Suzuki is just in trouble in Australia there. You know,
- 26:11Speaker 5: they had the Froncs that have the safety issue.
- 26:15Speaker 2: They've got the Ebatara coming out, which feels a bit
- 26:17Speaker 2: late to the party. But you know, like Zuzuki doesn't
- 26:20Speaker 2: really have I think, like that much else going on
- 26:24Speaker 2: apart from like the genies are real Colt.
- 26:26Speaker 4: That's the problem.
- 26:27Speaker 3: People who have them love them.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Hey, tell me about your what's what's that Cadillac.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Yes, I drove the Cadillac Vistique.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Tell me about your deeck.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Yes, it's it is. It's interesting.
- 26:42Speaker 5: So it's basically a competitor to the Volvo X ninety
- 26:45Speaker 5: and the Yenda Ironic nine, except they've priced it really sharply.
- 26:50Speaker 5: It's like one hundred and sixteen grand fully electric and
- 26:54Speaker 5: significantly cheaper than the Volvo. In fact, it's significantly cheaper
- 26:58Speaker 5: than what they sell this for overseas, so we get
- 27:00Speaker 5: a really sharp price with it. Seeah, fully electric. It's enormous.
- 27:04Speaker 5: It does zero tow one hundred and four point two seconds.
- 27:06Speaker 5: It's got captain's chairs, it is an incredible interior. It's
- 27:11Speaker 5: got like a thirty three inch display that sort of
- 27:13Speaker 5: wraps around the driver. It's got like in built Google
- 27:17Speaker 5: apps and all this sort of stuff.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Very sort of high ended premium.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Looks amazing to it kind of looks like an escalade,
- 27:22Speaker 5: so it really turns heads.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Brilliant looking thing. In terms of downsides, the battery.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Is like ten kilo what hours less than what they
- 27:32Speaker 5: have overseas, So basically your driving range realistically is maybe
- 27:36Speaker 5: three fifty to four hundred plays, which really unacceptable for
- 27:39Speaker 5: a car that size because it's quite inefficient, and then
- 27:43Speaker 5: in addition to that, just had a couple of tech
- 27:45Speaker 5: glitches as well with it that were a little bit frustrating.
- 27:48Speaker 5: But outside of that, I mean it's got air suspension,
- 27:50Speaker 5: rides beautifully. It is is a really schmik looking car.
- 27:53Speaker 5: So I reginon they'll sell a few of them. There's
- 27:56Speaker 5: not a huge amount of demand in that segment. They've
- 27:59Speaker 5: missed a trick as well with seating arrangement for kids,
- 28:01Speaker 5: because it's got the captain's chairs in the second row.
- 28:04Speaker 5: They have ISO fix and top tether, but you don't
- 28:07Speaker 5: have ISO fix or top tenther in the third row.
- 28:10Speaker 5: So it means if you get kids in the second row,
- 28:13Speaker 5: you then have to put adults in the third row, which.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Is which is quite cramped.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah, So I just think that they should really
- 28:21Speaker 5: be offering top tenther in the third row because and
- 28:22Speaker 5: you whack the kids back there, adults can stretch out
- 28:24Speaker 5: in the second row and.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Box your uncle.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a miss and they're not obliged to do
- 28:29Speaker 2: that though legally are they.
- 28:30Speaker 4: I think it's just ISO fix and top ten for
- 28:32Speaker 4: the second row. I think is.
- 28:34Speaker 5: But most people that have a three row suv will
- 28:37Speaker 5: have some form of child restraint in the third row
- 28:39Speaker 5: because your families are buying them, like you.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Know, you're going to have seeding.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So these cars are like if you look at like
- 28:46Speaker 2: fleet buyers and stuff like that, Uber drivers, drivers you
- 28:51Speaker 2: know who do the chauffe ring and all that sort
- 28:53Speaker 2: of stuff.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Actually, I mean to say, my I've got a driver
- 28:58Speaker 3: who just bought.
- 28:59Speaker 2: The the x Pang, like like a van, like an
- 29:03Speaker 2: electric van.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Oh you mean the Zeka.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I think it was the x Pang because it was
- 29:09Speaker 2: the He was talking about how they've just gone out
- 29:11Speaker 2: of business and he bought like a van. Oh right,
- 29:14Speaker 2: yeah from them, the van. Yeah I didn't either, but
- 29:17Speaker 2: he's like, oh yeah, I'm not too worried. Okay, just
- 29:21Speaker 2: get me to the fucking x pin X nine.
- 29:23Speaker 5: I think it is intelligent mpv. Oh that looks cool.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Why would you buy that? Okay, So I get buying
- 29:30Speaker 5: the suv because you know people buy why would you
- 29:32Speaker 5: buy that?
- 29:33Speaker 3: Well, he goes around.
- 29:35Speaker 2: He's he's got he's got a big fleet of like
- 29:39Speaker 2: giant vans, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, like
- 29:42Speaker 2: the big community vans.
- 29:44Speaker 3: So he wanted an electric one. I don't know why
- 29:46Speaker 3: pang five.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Different other electric ones that people have heard of.
- 29:51Speaker 3: I think you've got a good deal on it.
- 29:53Speaker 4: It looks like it.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Hey, you know what's exciting is in twenty twenty six
- 29:57Speaker 2: we can go down to like Colfield train station, just
- 30:00Speaker 2: like we did in the old days and buy some
- 30:02Speaker 2: drugs in the brand new prelude.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Oh why would you?
- 30:06Speaker 2: Oh?
- 30:06Speaker 4: I see yes, yes.
- 30:09Speaker 5: What do you think for sixty five grand? I reckon
- 30:11Speaker 5: that is? That is an ask?
- 30:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I think they've priced it on the steeper side for.
- 30:17Speaker 3: What it is.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I think if it had more guts about it, I
- 30:19Speaker 2: was a bit disappointed that it's not exactly a type
- 30:23Speaker 2: are Doer.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I think it.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Looks kind of cool.
- 30:26Speaker 3: I mean it looks good, look good.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I think it sort of sits in that camp of
- 30:32Speaker 2: remember when Nissen relaunched the Z or the z yep.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Kind of sits in that where I think it had
- 30:41Speaker 2: a lot of potential but they just didn't put enough
- 30:43Speaker 2: into it.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Yep. Yeah, I think that.
- 30:45Speaker 5: You know, I've got the engine from the Civic but
- 30:47Speaker 5: not the type are No and it's like, you know,
- 30:50Speaker 5: I drive it briefly in Japan.
- 30:51Speaker 4: And yeah it was it was fine.
- 30:54Speaker 5: But sixty five grand that gets you a lot of
- 30:57Speaker 5: car m you get a GTI, you know, there's yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 5: a lot of stuff you can buy for sixty five grand.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Well, it's probably it's a bit bigger than a GTI.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Marginally, it's like still a squished, very squishy in the
- 31:09Speaker 5: second row, two door, isn't it. Yeah, So I don't know.
- 31:12Speaker 5: I think it'll have a market, but I don't think
- 31:14Speaker 5: it's going to be running out the door.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm sure if they I'm sure this
- 31:20Speaker 2: could take off a little bit where people will mod it.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Yeah, you'll have enthusiasts that will get behind it. But
- 31:28Speaker 5: you know, it's fairly sort of complex setup. It's a
- 31:31Speaker 5: naturally aspirated engine, but it's got like a continuously variable
- 31:36Speaker 5: transmission makes it a little difficult to get in there
- 31:39Speaker 5: and do like a huge amount with it. You have
- 31:42Speaker 5: talk limitations on the transmission, you know, it's the reason
- 31:45Speaker 5: why the civic type is manual.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Hey, what's going on with that? By the way, they've
- 31:49Speaker 2: taken it like they're not selling it.
- 31:51Speaker 5: I think they're working on like an update to that.
- 31:54Speaker 5: It's my understanding and I think it'll get an auto
- 31:56Speaker 5: as well at some.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Point, right, because as of now, you can't into a
