Speaker 1: We had some big Tom news around the association today
• 0:04
Speaker 1: as well. Remember this guy won an MVP with the
• 0:06
Speaker 1: Oklahoma City Thunder two time finals MVP as well. Kevin
• 0:10
Speaker 1: Durant traded to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dylan Brooks,
• 0:14
Speaker 1: the tenth pick in this week's draft, and five second
• 0:17
Speaker 1: round picks. But here's the thing. Katie was on a
• 0:20
Speaker 1: panel when he heard the news live. Let's check it out,
• 0:38
Speaker 1: all right, So let's view this from the prism of
• 0:41
Speaker 1: the Houston Rockets because we saw a team in a
• 0:44
Speaker 1: Udoka the last couple of years really turned them around.
• 0:47
Speaker 2: Smithy now so close.
• 0:49
Speaker 1: Does this put them over into being true contenders for
• 0:52
  Speaker 1: an NBA championship?
• 0:53
Speaker 3: Well, there was contenders last year. I think if I'm
• 0:57
Speaker 3: looking from the outside end, if you're the Houston Rockets,
• 1:00
Speaker 3: I would say they wanted to get off Jalen Green.
• 1:02
Speaker 3: They got a chance to do that. Dylan Brooks is
• 1:05
Speaker 3: a three and D guy, but they have the unbelievable
• 1:09
Speaker 3: New Age three and D guy with the Thompson twin.
• 1:12
Speaker 3: So you look at what they gave up. Yes, the
• 1:14
Speaker 3: tenth pick, but I think if I'm the Houston Rockets,
• 1:17
Speaker 3: I achieved everything I want to achieve in this trade.
• 1:20
Speaker 3: And then I acquired a guy that can get you
• 1:22
Speaker 3: twenty five on two or three dribbles, and he's a
• 1:25
Speaker 3: guy that can finish games and he's been through it.
• 1:28
Speaker 3: So I'm the Houston Rockets. I got to be extremely happy.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: Channing when I hear what Smithy said, and watching the
• 1:33
Speaker 1: Houston Rockets in this postseason. A guy that can finish games.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: That seemed like the missing piece for them.
• 1:40
Speaker 4: It sure did. There's two things I like about this Traders.
• 1:42
Speaker 4: You're adding a stone called killer in KD. And two,
• 1:46
Speaker 4: I believe in emy right. I've known im Mail a
• 1:48
Speaker 4: long time since we're on the next Portland State guy.
• 1:51
Speaker 4: His teams compete every single year from and this is
• 1:54
Speaker 4: no disrespect to what the Houston Rockets were. He came
• 1:57
Speaker 4: in there and shut that stuff down and made that
• 2:00
Speaker 4: team number two in the West. And now you add
• 2:03
Speaker 4: a KD to me, they need one or two more things.
• 2:05
Speaker 4: A couple of vets on the bench and some height
• 2:07
Speaker 4: and size. Right, you think about how big the West is,
• 2:10
Speaker 4: but Senguini's not that tall.
• 2:13
Speaker 2: KD is not that big.
• 2:15
Speaker 4: So but remember you still got to go through Joker
• 2:17
Speaker 4: you still got to go through Minnesota, you still got
• 2:19
Speaker 4: to go through San Antonio and some of these other teams.
• 2:22
Speaker 2: Dallas is big for me.
• 2:24
Speaker 4: These are great steps moving forward, but Kat has to
• 2:27
Speaker 4: understand that this is not his team. This is him
• 2:30
Speaker 4: to help them go to that next level.
• 2:32
Speaker 5: I actually love the move for Houston. I mean when
• 2:36
Speaker 5: you look at e May and you look at.
• 2:37
Speaker 2: KD, these are two of my favorite people. So and Channing.
• 2:41
Speaker 5: As you talked about with e May, I was the
• 2:43
Speaker 5: one who told him, hey, look, basketball in the NBA
• 2:47
Speaker 5: may not be your thing, but you need to go
• 2:49
Speaker 5: into coaching, right because I thought he would be a
• 2:51
  Speaker 5: great coach.
• 2:52
Speaker 2: He and KD getting together in Phoenix, I mean in Houston.
• 2:57
Speaker 2: Let me tell you what that does.
• 2:58
Speaker 5: Okay, now becomes one of the bigger teams in the West.
• 3:03
Speaker 5: KD can go back to his natural position, which is
• 3:06
Speaker 5: small forward where he dominates at. And then they signed
• 3:11
Speaker 5: Steven Adams, So you got you got your your big
• 3:14
Speaker 5: people lined up. Now they'll go out and they'll find
• 3:17
Speaker 5: maybe another guard or so to come off the bench,
• 3:20
  Speaker 5: another vet.
• 3:21
Speaker 2: I really like what they've got.
• 3:22
Speaker 5: But now they've got championship experience over there, you know,
• 3:27
Speaker 5: I mean KD as a champion, right Vambly, and then
• 3:30
Speaker 5: you got lan Fleet. I mean, these two guys, you know,
• 3:33
Speaker 5: have been champions in the NBA. And then you have
• 3:37
Speaker 5: a championship coach, even though he didn't win in Boston,
• 3:40
Speaker 5: but he's coached in the NBA finals.
• 3:43
Speaker 2: So when you look at what Houston.
• 3:44
Speaker 5: Has put together, they got all the pieces, they got
• 3:48
Speaker 5: everything to make it right. I love the deal, but
• 3:52
Speaker 5: I also love it for KD. And I also love
• 3:55
Speaker 5: it for Email. Again, these are two of my favorite people.
• 3:58
  Speaker 3: You know.
• 3:58
Speaker 2: From the Phoenix side.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Obviously, you still have Devin Booker, who's coming into his prime,
• 4:03
Speaker 1: who's one of the best basketball players in this league,
• 4:06
Speaker 1: no doubt about that, right Smithy. But now Jalen Green,
• 4:09
Speaker 1: Bradley Bial doesn't seem like those pieces fit perfectly around him.
• 4:13
Speaker 1: Do you imagine that the Suns will be making more
• 4:15
Speaker 1: moves before this NBA draft?
• 4:17
Speaker 3: I hope. So. I mean when you started talking about
• 4:19
Speaker 3: Bradley Beal, you know, a good player, great player, and
• 4:22
Speaker 3: his rightfully so, Jalen Green is young, a good player,
• 4:24
Speaker 3: and I'm a huge fan of Devin Booker. I think
• 4:28
Speaker 3: if you look at this team, if he stays the same.
• 4:30
Speaker 3: It's not great for Devin Booker, but I think if
• 4:32
Speaker 3: you're the Phoenix Suns, you had to make a deal.
• 4:35
Speaker 3: Hopefully somebody else is still on the way moving out
• 4:39
Speaker 3: because Devin Booker what he's done in this league, in
• 4:42
Speaker 3: my opinion, Isaiah Channing, he's given everything he's had to
• 4:46
Speaker 3: that organization. He's been through coaches, he's been through general managers,
• 4:50
Speaker 3: he's been through owners. He deserves again to have a chance.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: And I like that he hasn't really outwardly complained, but
• 4:57
Speaker 3: I think he deserves to have another chance.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: When we look at the Phoenix Suns with Kevin Durant there,
• 5:02
Speaker 1: it's like, okay, they're going after a championship. Is that
• 5:05
Speaker 1: still a case for Phoenix host Kevin Durant trade.
• 5:09
Speaker 5: You can say that, but when you look at the
• 5:12
Speaker 5: team that's presently constructed as it is today and changes
• 5:17
Speaker 5: could be made over the summer, but presently constructed today,
• 5:21
Speaker 5: you have to say that this team probably is not
• 5:24
Speaker 5: ready to compete in the West for a championship. Now
• 5:29
Speaker 5: things will change, And I echo what Steve said, You know,
• 5:32
Speaker 5: we love Devin Booker, but we know it's farther better Melbourne,
• 5:37
Speaker 5: right I mean, that's all generation. So Melvin is like okay,
• 5:41
Speaker 5: and Devin is his son, and so we always look
• 5:44
Speaker 5: out and we all show love for the Booker.
• 5:47
  Speaker 2: Family, right.
• 5:48
Speaker 5: But we hope that there's more to come, because, as
• 5:52
Speaker 5: you asked me, the question, is this team presently constructed
• 5:56
Speaker 5: to win the championship.
• 5:57
Speaker 2: I think all of us will have to say no, however.
• 6:02
Speaker 5: But moving forward, hopefully it does more moves.
• 6:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, we have a lot more moves to be
• 6:08
Speaker 1: made on this show as we get you ready for
• 6:11
Speaker 1: the first Game seven.
