- 0:33I'm so drunk. Sorry.
- 0:42Well, count me out new in. Yeah.
- 0:45Okay. In 119 has okay in three, two
- 0:53one. Welcome back to hamster with a
- 0:58blunt. Penknife the Doctor Who
- 1:00commentary podcast in our epic commentary to cover.
- 1:05The entirety of the Daleks Master Plan Plus bonus.
- 1:09Episode missions are the unknown.
- 1:11I'm here today with Jason Thompson.
- 1:13Say hello Jason. Hello.
- 1:16And just to see that you've been paying attention because there's
- 1:18been a fair break since we've done the last batch of episodes.
- 1:22If you could, please tell me what's happened today in those
- 1:25master plan, please? Okay recap.
- 1:29Well the Daleks in the year 4000, the planning to conquer
- 1:33the entire universe with help of their evil weapon, the time
- 1:36Destructor, the doctor has stolen the turanian, Core the
- 1:40vital element without which it doesn't work and he's run away
- 1:44and he left them with a fake one.
- 1:46And last week something totally unrelated happened because it
- 1:49was the Christmas Day episode and they ended up in a film
- 1:52studio and in a police station. But you know, Christmas is out
- 1:56of the way now, and we're onto the Doctor Who's first New
- 1:58Year's Day episode and this is the first instance of a
- 2:04recurring. And I'm going to use air quotes
- 2:06here villain in Doctor. Who isn't it apart from the
- 2:10dies? It is indeed yes.
- 2:13The Doctor Who's first recurring, Dylan or rig, even a
- 2:17recurring character, who hadn't been in it for a while.
- 2:20You know, we see we have the regulars, but this is the first
- 2:23time we've character from several months or whatever.
- 2:26Previously has returned and obviously, we'll, we'll address
- 2:29of that when it happened. Yeah, I've got some things to
- 2:31ask you about the monk, when we get there.
- 2:32Well, should we skip into episode 8?
- 2:35That and see what happens. Let's do just that.
- 2:38So, anyone who's watching stroke listening along in three, two,
- 2:42one. Here we go.
- 2:44Jason is in complete control. This commentary because he is
- 2:48now the house and he is controlling the screen.
- 2:50I'm not used to being in, to, in another man's hands like this,
- 2:53but it's very exciting. I have to say, I mean, you're
- 2:56not used to be another man's hands Joe.
- 3:01Well, the doctors are less. Am I going to get a stop it?
- 3:06Now, you probably will. God Joe off.
- 3:11I was always convinced that we were going to be washing moving
- 3:13pictures. The sequence was moving, there's
- 3:19a little bit of movement because it's so it's Daleks and they did
- 3:22animate them for the some of the Reconstruction parts of the
- 3:25episode. So there are some a couple of
- 3:27abated Daleks in, but and we've gone straight back into the
- 3:30Daleks. So after a year, after a week,
- 3:33last week, last, no Daleks whatsoever in a complete gap,
- 3:37which is remind everybody. We are actually watching a,
- 3:39Dalek Story, by starting it with a Dalek.
- 3:42So is this the first instant? This is the only instance of
- 3:46Cliffhanger reprise. Absolutely nothing at all to do
- 3:49with the last episode. It's not know.
- 3:54There have been as previously that didn't have Cliffhanger a
- 3:59prior, but they generally happen between stories in some
- 4:02respects, you could argue, that's what's happened here
- 4:04because episode 7 was kind of an interlude between the two halves
- 4:09of this story so before picking up.
- 4:12Yeah, it's is literally like the Christmas special between two
- 4:15series of new, who isn't it? This is a, it's that kind of
- 4:18Series 2 of the Dalek cereal. I suppose it's closest to the
- 4:24series 7 which had the snowmen in the middle of it.
- 4:28Yes, very true. Oh, I neither Lotto split season
- 4:31is, you know, but I just didn't like and you haven't talked to
- 4:32around five weeks, you really irritate me but when you know,
- 4:38they were watching Doctor Who for your weeks of the year.
- 4:43Yeah, I mean Seasons. I think 39 episodes long total.
- 4:46So yeah, it is on most if it was know if you're in around the
- 4:491968 you had Dr Who a 48 weeks of the year in Levine had a 41.
- 4:5641 episodes were shown plus a 7 episode repeat of evil of the
- 5:00Daleks in 1968 so yeah so no wonder this became a staple of
- 5:05like you know tee time viewing on a Saturday if it was on for
- 5:08two-thirds of the year. Yeah, or more in many cases.
- 5:14But yeah, it was We could only dream of that now, couldn't we?
- 5:19Yeah, I'm not surprised. I mean, it didn't ask her the
- 5:22leading man in. Well, two consecutive eating
- 5:25been got knackered by the recording schedule.
- 5:27So when did that change? That was /.
- 5:30We that change was there because they're exhausted trout and as
- 5:32well and trout and was you know, a theater actor, them heart
- 5:36little, but by the end of Bible, the right grumpy bugger by
- 5:41serious season six. Yeah, but they all think it was
- 5:45Derek show. A new working with Patrick
- 5:47troughton, a monster 36 who took on board his concerns, but
- 5:51basically said we can't do anything about it while you're
- 5:53here. Sorry mate.
- 5:54But the next season of Doctor, Who was half as long.
- 5:58Yeah. And then they started recording
- 6:00and then different ways as well, why they started doing two
- 6:03episodes of fortnight rather than what a week which must have
- 6:07yeah. Yeah.
- 6:09In a bit more recording out of order, as well.
- 6:12So at this, In the recording each episodes a week.
- 6:16One episode a week they're recording it as much live as
- 6:19they possibly can. So getting through it all in one
- 6:22go as far as possible with minimal recording breaks, and
- 6:26also only recording them about at this point.
- 6:28Three weeks ahead of transmission.
- 6:30So imagine then imagine if those that filming schedule, they had
- 6:36during the early 70s had been applied here.
- 6:40Almost mood may have lifted considerably here.
- 6:43May have been a much more sort of amiable fellow to be around,
- 6:47you know, on the studio floor. Quite possibly depending on what
- 6:51else he was doing when he wasn't doing doctor to.
- 6:53Of course, when you reverse that and make Pertwee work for your
- 6:57weeks of the Year exhausted, he would have been unbearable when
- 7:00they don't think he's running for five years if he doesn't.
- 7:04He's done that. So okay so we just had we went
- 7:08to the police station when episode 7 and then we went to
- 7:13the Hollywood studio in America and now in a minute we go off to
- 7:18a quick A pitch. So there is a real feeling of
- 7:21the chase here. Isn't that of like quick
- 7:24vignettes as I go from place to place to place to show the like,
- 7:29the Daleks are in Hot Pursuit of the doctor and the trainee.
- 7:33Oh, cool. Yes.
- 7:35Although, of course, is not the Daleks in pursuit of him.
- 7:37At this point, they haven't figured out the problem and they
- 7:40haven't sent their time machine off yet, the doctor is being
- 7:42followed because know who by yet, but yes, this is very much
- 7:45Dennis Spooner coming and going, right?
- 7:47I've got to make this Any plans six-episode story twice as long.
- 7:52Will she have a Christmas episode in there for one?
- 7:55And then I'll just I'll go back to the chase, put that in and
- 7:58I'll bring back a character that I wrote for a previous story as
- 8:00well. Just too bulky ball out.
- 8:02There we go, that'll do the job surprisingly works.
- 8:05I've got an unfair question for you then because you've already
- 8:09say that you can listen to this through and you love the length.
- 8:11This is and there isn't anything that you would choose to take
- 8:14out and that you kind of like the breadth of it all However,
- 8:20if this was to be six episodes long, yeah, this was the
- 8:24original dollars, master plan, six episodes long, what would
- 8:28you excite us to make this six episodes long?
- 8:32That's a toughie I know. But off you go, that's a great.
- 8:37Great question. Can I think about it and come
- 8:39back to that in the next episode?
- 8:41I mean, let's be honest. You dick size the whole of
- 8:43episode seven when you oh yeah, the whole episode 7 would go And
- 8:49that might just, but that could stand up that could still stand
- 8:51alone as a as a Christmas episode.
- 8:53Because if it was, if they did cut garlic, master plan down to
- 8:566, then what is now episode 7 would still happen on Christmas
- 9:00day so we probably still have something similar to that.
- 9:04You could probably even take out all the fake course.
- 9:06I've just follow the core. So the first kind of episodes on
- 9:09Kimball And then off to Earth because we're doing a bit of
- 9:14well building. And then, literally from Earth,
- 9:18you could go to skaro and that would be your six episodes,
- 9:21wouldn't it? Yeah, just get it back to the
- 9:24end and we'd skip all the stuff about being molecular
- 9:28disseminated or so and all this business with the dark time
- 9:35machine so on and so forth. So yeah, it could be Then we'd
- 9:39Miss deep down. I'm a ball.
- 9:40But yeah, listen on a trampoline.
- 9:45Yes, but I don't, I don't know that it would be quite so.
- 9:49Well regarded don't think it will be quite such a good
- 9:52well-regarded storing. If it was only six episodes, I
- 9:54think the fact that this is 12 episodes makes it seem a lot
- 9:57more epic and matches up with the Dalek master plan title.
- 10:03Although, of course no one in 1965 and 66 knew it was called
- 10:06dark master plan because they weren't doing on-screen titles
- 10:08at that time. But we're not the only other
- 10:10time. They dare to attempt this or
- 10:12thing. Wasn't it was Planet of the
- 10:13Daleks. Sorry.
- 10:14Frontier in space into Planet of the Daleks which were supposed
- 10:17to be like this 12-episode kind of Epic, which starts off with
- 10:22showing the war between and Draconian then reveals the
- 10:27dialects as the big fret and then supposedly deals with the
- 10:31Daleks. Then in the next episode.
- 10:34Oh, it's like goes a bit awry because I feel like the two
- 10:37episodes that the link between the two episodes is so tenuous
- 10:40and the climax really has nothing to do with the beginning
- 10:43asshole where This is freaking awesome or even if it is even if
- 10:48this is a bit indulgent and a bit all over the place it is one
- 10:53Focus story, isn't it? Yeah it is absolutely here.
- 10:58We are on the cricket pitch. Oh yes.
- 11:02Oh no. Thanks.
- 11:02But actual folk, it footage of a cricket match.
- 11:06That's not difficult to come by. Is it?
- 11:08But yeah, I like the fella from Terror of the zygons on the
- 11:14radio. That's interesting.
- 11:17Is he the actor that plays it? Yeah.
- 11:19I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, it may well be.
- 11:23But yeah, it's this is just a fun little interlude because of
- 11:27course, it's still New Year's Day and it's not Christmas so
- 11:29they haven't gone all Go out and made a comedy Standalone
- 11:32episode, but it is New Year's Day so they want a little bit of
- 11:36fun. So they've got this weird little
- 11:39interlude pitch where the commentators just take the
- 11:42materialization of the targets on the cricket pitch entirely in
- 11:44stride and I've got a little bit, but if you repeal, this is
- 11:48executed though, because I feel like the the guys that are doing
- 11:52the commentary over, what's going on?
- 11:55They're not really like delivering it comically or women
- 12:00much Pace. They sound of it board actually.
- 12:04Yeah, it's not the best little interlude.
- 12:06It could have been done better. Frankly, when you compare it to
- 12:11what they were doing in seven, all that energy and Madness in
- 12:15Hollywood, Yeah, and they might have been going for.
- 12:19They might have been trying, you know, the comedy could be coming
- 12:22from the fact that these guys just talk about what's going on,
- 12:26don't show any interest in it whatsoever.
- 12:28They just come in commenting on what's going on.
- 12:30But I mean it's yeah. Telling the story isn't it a
- 12:33different way of doing it. Our folks.
- 12:36It is yeah, he's just imagine a whole episode being done as like
- 12:40a commentary. Yeah, three bulbs I think Well,
- 12:45there we go, there's an idea. Let's pitch that to the BBC
- 12:48pitch that to Russell, T Davies and see what he says.
- 12:50I know, just the man that could do it, you know, done 350 of
- 12:53these now, okay? So yeah.
- 13:03Back into the Tardis, something is still following them.
- 13:08So something happened earlier on actually, which made me so I
- 13:11wanted to briefly, which we're going to transition.
- 13:13Got exterminated. How did I miss that?
- 13:18Yeah, because he was used as a subject for the time Destructor.
- 13:21And that's when they found out, they doesn't work, but then they
- 13:24shot him afterwards anyway, so there you go.
- 13:27That just got actually that just goes to prove that, that whole
- 13:31thing. It was just kill more time
- 13:33because essentially before the Christmas episode, when that
- 13:37whole long sequence, where Making the fight one and then
- 13:39straight away afterwards. They expose it's a fake.
- 13:42So it's not even like it's a useful plot point or anything is
- 13:45is just marking time, he's just marking time and why not?
- 13:50But when they exterminated twenties that's got a lot of a
- 13:53lot of reviews and comments and books and things that I read
- 13:57about, Darling, master plan. So talk about you know what's
- 13:59the point of this Galactic Alliance?
- 14:01The Daleks have if they're just going to shoot people when
- 14:03they're finishing up, their shots F on ready in episode 3,
- 14:06episode. Yeah, episode 3, they shot him.
- 14:09Now they've shot trendiest. What's the point of this
- 14:12Galactic Alliance? I've got my my theory about
- 14:16this, I've got 12, but you go first.
- 14:19My theory is the Daleks do not actually need this.
- 14:22Alliance at all for their own benefit for their own actions.
- 14:27The point of it is to keep the of the galaxies and the solar
- 14:31system from allying against the Daleks.
- 14:33Oh, In episode 5, I think Chen said you know, we should be able
- 14:41to destroy Kemble with help from the rest of the solar system.
- 14:44And at the end later in the story, he says penis, we can
- 14:47muster a greater force than the Daleks.
- 14:49So if the Daleks tip their hand too early, they'll get trounced.
- 14:55So they create this Alliance to keep the outer galaxies and
- 14:58their beliefs, their enemies close to lie without Alliance.
- 15:04That's my theory and I am sticking to it.
- 15:06I have to go. Live out there was a bit like
- 15:08the sidemen international. Isn't it?
- 15:10Is that they plant that bulb because all those forces are
- 15:12coming together to destroy the Cyber race.
- 15:15You know, they know they're not strong enough to fight against
- 15:17them, I think that works. However, my alternative theory
- 15:21is this is that the Daleks do in fact, require the assistance of
- 15:26all these people in the solar system and obviously they need
- 15:29the turanian donate for the core.
- 15:31So they definitely need mavic Chen.
- 15:33And maybe magic Chen would only be interested in getting
- 15:35involved if the others, you know, like it.
- 15:37Feels like there's a great plot we've all the major Powers any
- 15:40of us but unfortunately it is true for the universe that the
- 15:45Daleks do have a bit of a temper.
- 15:47And so these are these murders that occur throughout the story
- 15:51while they will not have it was planned but unfortunately they
- 15:53are a bit trigger-happy and you know, and anyway, they're all.
- 15:56So fuckin incompetent. These people, you know, that's
- 15:59honestly when they eventually kill Qin, I do that.
- 16:02Darling having the most satisfying days ever had in his
- 16:04life when you find it, bumps and holes.
- 16:08I would imagine. So, I mean, the whole turanian,
- 16:11it's a bit bizarre, isn't it? Because in, why would, why did
- 16:14they make a weapon that required?
- 16:16Something that was only found on a planet that they haven't
- 16:18conquered yet? That's a bit like designing the
- 16:22atom bomb in World War Two and the only uranium Supply being
- 16:26interrogated or something like that, you know, it's, it is a
- 16:29noble truth of the universe. If you do pick a part of these
- 16:31Doctor Who stories and look for logic cool, very off box of this
- 16:35point is, but that, you know, doesn't stop it from being a
- 16:38good fun story. And now the monk is turned up.
- 16:41Gray we like them to know what the performers in this sequence
- 16:45between William Hartmann. Be a bottle work.
- 16:47When they're laughing, their heads off and shout and
- 16:49Aristotle. It's so funny.
- 16:51It's really good. Oh, it's brilliant.
- 16:54The interplay between them in the time.
- 16:56Manila was really good. So you can see why Dennis
- 16:58Spooner wanted to bring this, bring this chat back.
- 17:01It does. Raise the question though of
- 17:03now. Why is he a monk?
- 17:04Because it made sense in the time meddler because he was
- 17:07holed up in a monastery, pretending to be a monk for the
- 17:09locals courts. Why is he still a monk now?
- 17:14He's escaped from 1066. What's the story here?
- 17:16I don't know if finished, I know of them a lot with the Monk and
- 17:20the I'm like that and I'm sure he's appeared in several books
- 17:22so they might well be an explanation but I don't know
- 17:24what it is. I mean I am garden and ruthless
- 17:27Halen playing the monk amazing character actors.
- 17:31Well I sound like a broken record Jason it is a fact that
- 17:35when these characters of races are introduced in Doctor Who
- 17:39then that's kind of what they get stuck with maybe the ice
- 17:41Warriors that made sense in the ice Warriors.
- 17:44When they were coming out, looking like Vikings but all the
- 17:46sudden they're just called the ice Warrior culture.
- 17:50Yep. No, that's very true.
- 17:52Same with the sea Devils. They were called The Devil's by
- 17:55people who first saw them in the sea devils.
- 17:58And then, my worries have deep. Everyone's calling them sea
- 18:00Devils. What is in themselves about the
- 18:03eeo scenes that didn't get called by what they should have
- 18:05been called? Oh well Partners loving these
- 18:11things as they die. He is loving playing comic
- 18:14scenes with Butterworth. What are you?
- 18:16The carry on talking. I don't know if they know
- 18:20they're going to carry on together.
- 18:22They were both in Karen's Kephart laws in carry on
- 18:24sergeant, and Peter Butterworth was in a couple of them.
- 18:28I always think of because the first one I saw him in the first
- 18:31thing I remember is come carry on screening.
- 18:33Oh, that one really solid it's not not carry on speed, that's
- 18:38that was fabulous. But now I think hot women,
- 18:42better worth didn't appear in the carry-on some together, but
- 18:46they work brilliantly together here.
- 18:48Well, I think I have a question for you, but it's not from me.
- 18:53This is coming your way is winging all its way from up,
- 18:56north from Frasier Gregory and his question for you, is this I
- 19:00asked a couple of people for some questions for you.
- 19:03And you're putting the you okay, no pressure now, but Fraser
- 19:09asks, does the monk fit? Well, into this story like in
- 19:13the context of this story as he did in the time meddler?
- 19:20I think he works really rather well in this I think Dennis
- 19:22spoon. I mean obviously you know
- 19:24looking looking at it from a critical point of view.
- 19:28Dennis Spooner is just chucked him in to provide a bit more
- 19:31material to bulk out the story to make it longer but I think it
- 19:35works really well. He provides a little bit of a
- 19:37distraction for the doctor and Steve and Sarah so that they
- 19:40don't first realize when the Daleks are following them his
- 19:44interactions with the Daleks and with Steven and Sarah in part.
- 19:4710. In particular a hilarious, I
- 19:49think so. Yeah I think I think he works
- 19:52really nicely in this story. It's a kind of contrast because
- 19:55we've gone the tone of this story has shifted enormously
- 19:59since past seven. Yeah because the first half the
- 20:03story is very, it's quite, it's very dark.
- 20:05It's very dramatic, it's very straight-laced.
- 20:07There's not an awful lot of humor in the first five.
- 20:09At first six episodes. It's very much a Sci-Fi drama.
- 20:14I made any spoon it comes in and goes now sod that I'm going to
- 20:17do something completely different and so he puts a lot
- 20:19more comedy and lucked into the last half.
- 20:24Appropriately though. Dispensing with all of that at
- 20:27the end. Yeah, I was going to say the
- 20:29last two. There's not a lot of love there.
- 20:31Jason. No.
- 20:33But this is what this story needs.
- 20:34I think at this point, because it was 12 episodes of the kind
- 20:38of Relentless, Grim drama that we'd seen in the first few
- 20:42episodes. And then again, at the end, 12
- 20:45episodes of that might have been a bit much to take.
- 20:48So I think this kind of Shifting the emphasis and the tone for a
- 20:52few episodes in the middle is just What this 14 the breathe a
- 20:55bit more life into it and keep you running along with it until
- 20:58the end? Well, you know what?
- 20:59They've done with the with the Christmas episode it was very
- 21:02jarring. Wasn't it?
- 21:03After what? I've come but it kind of
- 21:06registers away from that seriousness.
- 21:08So now they can have some fun like after the yeah.
- 21:11So, did you know? So the transition it wasn't, you
- 21:15know, I'm dramatic. But now we've made that
- 21:17transition, we can have really nice set pieces like this.
- 21:22Yeah absolutely. What do I know of trivia for you
- 21:28is that I know it took them four attempts.
- 21:30Thanks to thanks to my copy of the handbook.
- 21:33It took them four attempts to get the establishing shot of the
- 21:36TARDIS near the volcano on this planet.
- 21:39Because they had terrible, technical difficulties, and had
- 21:41to keep remounting. It just took ages to do and
- 21:44Hartnell was not very happy with this, bit of the scene.
- 21:48Why? Because the monk does something
- 21:51to the lock of the TARDIS and the doctor apparently just
- 21:55shines the light of the Sun from that planet through his ring,
- 21:58into the lock, which undoes all the stuff.
- 22:00The monkey and heart will couldn't get his head around,
- 22:03how the hell that was supposed to work and he didn't really
- 22:05like the explanation at all and agree.
- 22:08It's a complete. Pile of rubbish, really because
- 22:11it's just like the monks done something with oxygen or at my
- 22:13ring zap. Both problem solved sound
- 22:20Applause. We've had for an inductor.
- 22:22I think know they have been worse but you weren't around
- 22:27when the Sonic Screwdriver was about.
- 22:28Then it, I may be a lot of things to say about that.
- 22:32Do you think they're obviously like, we don't we know that the
- 22:35monk do we know the monks from the same Planet as a doctor?
- 22:37They do say that the time, I don't, they They do, I'm laws
- 22:41and Gallifreyan a year in the future.
- 22:42At this point, we haven't heard those terms whatsoever, but we
- 22:45do know that they are from the same Planet.
- 22:48They are of the same race. So that's fresh now.
- 22:51Yeah, that's fresh. The idea of meeting somebody
- 22:53from the doctors home planet because we know so little about
- 22:56him and his planet, that anything is a bit enticing.
- 23:00Do you think it ever gets to a point in the future?
- 23:02Where actually is not a renegade Time.
- 23:04Lord, you know, the master, the Ronnie, you know, it gets to a
- 23:08point where you know, Gary Russell in his latest epic
- 23:11divided. Loyalties does the Gallifrey
- 23:1390210 sequence set on, you know, where we meet all of the
- 23:18youngsters in the Gallifreyan Academy before heading off and
- 23:22being evil in. The, I mean, is it a bit much
- 23:24later on? I think it does get a bit much
- 23:27later on. Yes, you just keep finding
- 23:29Renegade time Lords. But at this point, it's still
- 23:34very fresh and to this point when this episode was
- 23:38transmitted the time meddler had only been on about six months.
- 23:40Previously, that's true. It's true.
- 23:44It's interesting because like the monk is working with the
- 23:49Daleks Ali later, Later on he does s at this point he's just
- 23:54the this episode is an interesting one because there's
- 23:57two plots happening, side-by-side that don't actually
- 24:00interconnect at all. So all the stuff on Kemble with
- 24:04the Daleks testing, the time Destructor and getting the time
- 24:06machine and going after the doctor is happening, while the
- 24:09doctor is being followed by the Monk and dealing, with the Monk
- 24:12on Tigers, nearly those to plot lines.
- 24:15Do not intersect at this in this episode at all.
- 24:18It's not until the next episode. They all come together Slope is
- 24:22our weight is bizarre bar. I've been doing the untold Star
- 24:26Trek project commentaries recently and whenever we dive
- 24:31into Picard series, one is exactly this.
- 24:35It's episodes where it's two different plots that are
- 24:40advancing in Li the overall Arc of the Season.
- 24:44That fuckles move each other. I think this is ahead of his
- 24:46time. Yeah, I agree.
- 24:49Star Trek have a lot of those the A, and B put It's quite
- 24:52often didn't actually connect with each other whatsoever.
- 24:54Well, thanks what they did. It was usually with a line or
- 24:57the very tenuous theme. Yeah, I mean consider episodes
- 25:02like d S9 s treachery faith in the Great River.
- 25:05Which on the one hand you have Odo and the defective weyoun on
- 25:09their run about talking about the Dominion and all that kind.
- 25:13And then you've got nog trying to get captain sisko's desk
- 25:16back. And doing all these ferringhi
- 25:18type exchanges will have those two plots have nothing.
- 25:21Connection whatsoever. But it's a fantastic episode
- 25:24both fabulous. So are they they're fabulous and
- 25:28totally totally different color. Not only are they again like
- 25:31this one? Not only are they completely
- 25:33separate and not at all related to each other.
- 25:35They have totally different tones.
- 25:38What's going on? The Tardis has materialized
- 25:44during a New Year celebration and the Daleks are about to send
- 25:48their time machine off to follow them.
- 25:51I'll tell you what Jason anyone would think that last week's
- 25:53episode where they accidentally landed at Christmas and this
- 25:56week's episode where they've accidentally landed in New
- 25:58Year's or broadcast on those exact days.
- 26:02You would think so. Yes, it would be many years
- 26:05before we got another New Year's episode, Is it normal to Jerry
- 26:09West Coast time? End of time, part to live on in
- 26:14this game but that had sold all to do with New Year's Day
- 26:17because that was direct. Follow on from activities that
- 26:19were happening around Christmas day.
- 26:21Yeah. It is kind of resolution, isn't
- 26:26it at the end of series 11 resolution is the first New Year
- 26:31special, that's actually got anything to do with new year.
- 26:33Yeah. And it makes them are next.
- 26:35Bloody evil and murderous again is fabulous.
- 26:40Oh yes, I love I love it. I was thinking.
- 26:44Yeah, the new year. Yeah, it's gone.
- 26:46The Daleks are in Pursuit and we here we go.
- 26:48The chase Mark to happening. I'll tell you what?
- 26:51That flute. Give it that we didn't have no
- 26:54Telly snaps or anything. Absolutely.
- 26:57No. These are flying by really
- 27:00quickly. And in New Year's Day, Fun, by
- 27:03the way, just to just to finish off work soon.
- 27:06As there were two other episodes that were shown on New Year
- 27:08today in the classic run, but they had nothing to do with new.
- 27:11Year at all. They just happened to be on
- 27:12those dates. Well and that's day of the
- 27:14Daleks part one and I believe the face of Evil part one, they
- 27:18just happen to happen on New Year's Day but nothing to do
- 27:21with New Year's whatsoever. Nothing to do with New Year's
- 27:24whatsoever. It's just that's what they
- 27:25started. I mean Tire the darling start a
- 27:27season so you could say there's something was something
- 27:29brand-new was starting there. It did it in face of evil, kind
- 27:34of started the second half of the season.
- 27:36So but you know, I think with seven and a This is kind of like
- 27:42our main dive, right? We're off to Egypt next, aren't
- 27:46we? We're off to Egypt?
- 27:47Yes. Yes, it's even more.
- 27:49Even more like fortunes from the main storyline.
- 27:54Yeah. That reason plus the monk plus
- 27:56Chen. Absolutely.
- 28:00That is a Melting Pot. I cannot wait to jump into with
- 28:02you shall we? Let's do so.
- 28:06Yes.
