- 0:00Welcome one, welcome all, there's been some technical issues and you better believe it's
- 0:13my fault because that's the way life goes.
- 0:16Welcome to The Wrecking Crews, I'm Toby Cracker.
- 0:19I'm Tanya Rae Fox and I, you got ahead of it, I told him ahead of the show that I was
- 0:23like, I'm going to tell on you, I'm going to tell on you to the audience.
- 0:26You ever see the movie Clue?
- 0:28Yeah.
- 0:29I was going to expose you, I saw that.
- 0:31So I decided to expose myself, please, there are ladies present.
- 0:36And yeah, so you clued me, Cody lost the SD card.
- 0:41Yeah, that's a little weird, the SD card which has all of our multimedia on it and like all
- 0:45of our pre-packaged videos, all that stuff, cannot find it.
- 0:49No idea where it goes, so I started uploading things onto a new SD card which I couldn't
- 0:53find opening credits.
- 0:54I mean I can, I just needed more than three minutes.
- 0:57Right.
- 0:58All right, guys, it's a great week, everything's fine.
- 1:00It seems like the motif of the show for the last couple of weeks continues.
- 1:04When I was adding our shows, because I'm now going to actually keep up with putting our
- 1:08episodes on Apple and Spotify now that I have it all worked out.
- 1:11Look at us go.
- 1:12We're good.
- 1:13And so I was adding some shows last night and there's like an uncontrollable AI thing
- 1:18in there that like just recaps your show.
- 1:20And it was pretty funny, it was like the headline of that episode was, everything's great, colon
- 1:28whatever we talked about.
- 1:29Yeah.
- 1:30Everything's great.
- 1:31You said it so much that AI was like, so there's a running motif of this show.
- 1:34So everything must be great, but did it really specify this sarcasm?
- 1:38Yes, it did.
- 1:39Okay, good, good.
- 1:40It picked up on like the thing that I know.
- 1:41Look at that, AI, they really are learning in an exponential rate.
- 1:44That's fantastic.
- 1:45Horrifying.
- 1:46But yeah, so how has your week been so far?
- 1:48Mine's been, oh, by the way, I got some cool stuff coming up I want to tell you about.
- 1:52Oh, please.
- 1:53So yesterday we had Dave Roberts on the show, which was great.
- 1:56I love that.
- 1:57Thank you for setting it up with Doc.
- 1:58Next week on the morning show, we're going to have Dr. Dre on.
- 2:02Okay.
- 2:03I'm like all fired up about that.
- 2:04I mean, forget about Dre, let's go.
- 2:07Let's go.
- 2:08Robin sales weren't doing so good.
- 2:09Who's the doctor they told you to go see?
- 2:10Dude, let's go.
- 2:11You're going to rap to him and just like that?
- 2:12Dude, acting like I don't got guns?
- 2:13What do you think I did, sold them all?
- 2:14No, I love it.
- 2:15Let's go.
- 2:16Dr. Dre.
- 2:17I listen to that one a lot at the gym.
- 2:21That's like a big gym.
- 2:23It's a good one.
- 2:24Yeah.
- 2:25It's a good one.
- 2:26I like it.
- 2:27It's really cool.
- 2:28I, um, I very, every time I see there's a couple like certain celebrity follows that
- 2:32I've gotten where I like really latch onto it.
- 2:34I'm like, okay, you know, and so you're a celebrity.
- 2:36I saw the videos from DC.
- 2:38Yeah.
- 2:39And then also, um, I, one day I opened up my Instagram and it said that method man had
- 2:44followed me and I was like, by the way, he's the reason your, your Nick's one last night.
- 2:50So my next, um, you're a fan.
- 2:53But I was like, so I went to his page and I was like, I almost had to like double check
- 2:57that it said follow back.
- 2:58Like I was like, is he really following me or is that an accident?
- 3:01Right.
- 3:02So he was following me and he only followed like 170 something people at the time.
- 3:05I don't know how many, this was like two months ago.
- 3:08So every time I see anything about method man, I call him my close personal friend method
- 3:11man.
- 3:12Best friends.
- 3:13Yeah.
- 3:14And ever since Spike Lee, Spike Lee commented on one of my like threads a couple months
- 3:17ago.
- 3:18So he's also my close personal.
- 3:19We've been actually, it's funny.
- 3:20My producer Raj has his number and we've been trying to cold call him, hasn't worked yet,
- 3:25but we're going to keep trying.
- 3:26I have Woj's number and I always think about trying to call Woj too.
- 3:29I'm like, I feel like he might answer.
- 3:31Like an old Woj bomb.
- 3:32You never go.
- 3:33Um, so yeah, we got a lot to cover and, uh, plenty of time, quite frankly, unlimited time
- 3:39to really cover it, but let's just get right into it.
- 3:41Let's go with headline number one, because Tanya last night might've been the most bat
- 3:48shit insane.
- 3:51Forget basketball game game I've ever watched.
- 3:54And here's the funny thing.
- 3:55And I, and I'll show you proof that it's actually happened when it was halftime.
- 3:58I sent a text to a group thread.
- 4:01I don't like this.
- 4:02I don't feel good.
- 4:03I don't feel good at all.
- 4:04They're up by 26 points.
- 4:05Yet somehow I'm like, I feel like I've seen this story.
- 4:07I don't feel good one bit.
- 4:09Then it got down to 15 and for the fourth quarter, once it got down to 15, I resent that
- 4:13text.
- 4:14I'm like fucking Knicks are winning.
- 4:15The Knicks are going to win this fucking game.
- 4:18And then me and you started texting because I was still waiting to see if this was real.
- 4:22Yeah.
- 4:23Cause I'm like, it was in the inkling in the back of my mind, I'm like, is this really
- 4:25going to fucking happen?
- 4:26I know it really fucking happened, man.
- 4:29And you want the most amazing thing about it.
- 4:30And this is a, this is a real thing that I just can't get past because there is a real,
- 4:34real argument here that the Spurs should have already swept this.
- 4:37I don't know if there's a real argument, but there is.
- 4:41There is.
- 4:42Okay.
- 4:43I'll I'm willing to hear what you got.
- 4:44Okay.
- 4:45Spurs led by 14.
- 4:46Knicks won that game.
- 4:48Game two Spurs led by 12.
- 4:50Knicks won that game.
- 4:51Game three Spurs win game four.
- 4:54Spurs are leading by 20 fucking nine.
- 4:59Knicks won that game.
- 5:00It's three, one Knicks Spurs should have swept this.
- 5:02So I will say Spurs should have swept the series is a, is a take I would accept against
- 5:09any team, but the Knicks, like I think we have to accept that the Knicks actually play
- 5:14this way to the point where these leads are almost like built into this style of play.
- 5:19Maybe they are genuinely, because what is happening is that Mike Brown is, he's like
- 5:25an adjustment wizard, right?
- 5:26We talk about this a lot in NFL, but we don't talk about it quite as much in the NBA because
- 5:31it doesn't usually happen as much in the NBA NBA systems are generally a little bit more
- 5:35static.
- 5:36Like this is the system you play and you play and it works.
- 5:37And it's just not that they don't make adjustments, but it's just not the same.
- 5:41Mike Brown coaches the NBA, like he's coaching the fucking NFL and he'll like game to game
- 5:47will make specific adjustments going small with Jose Alvarado was like brilliant.
- 5:51And I think part of what they do is they use the comfort of, because you can't actually,
- 5:58you can't actually build in immediacy and a sense of urgency when you're up 15, 20,
- 6:0525, 30 points, it's very hard to feel the urgency.
- 6:10And so, especially for a very young team, they don't have like 22 years old.
- 6:14So the Knicks exploit that there's like, so it's like they wouldn't be winning if they
- 6:20hadn't been down.
- 6:21It's a very weird, no, no, no.
- 6:23You're not wrong.
- 6:24There is a feeling where that's like, they're not comfortable unless they are.
- 6:27It's like Seabiscuit.
- 6:28Yeah.
- 6:29Seabiscuit.
- 6:30He's like, you got to let it get a pull them back to let them look in the eye of war Admiral
- 6:34and then he'll really take off.
- 6:36And that's what the fucking Knicks are.
- 6:37Goddamn Seabiscuit, which makes sense.
- 6:39I got a small fucking star.
- 6:40They should call them the Seabiscuit Knicks.
- 6:42They should, except their fans are assaulting everyone humanly possible, including Wembley.
- 6:46It was 15 fans, idiot fans like that.
- 6:49I am.
- 6:50So I don't care.
- 6:51What about the ones that assaulted Wembley last night?
- 6:54Which who assaulted Wembley?
- 6:55Did you not see this?
- 6:56What did they do?
- 6:57So the Knicks fans surrounded the hotel for the Spurs players as they were coming into
- 7:01the game.
- 7:02That's what it was.
- 7:03Okay.
- 7:04I did see multiple things thrown at Wembley, including one that hit the back of his head
- 7:06as he was going into the end of the thing.
- 7:08Security had to pull him inside.
- 7:10Now this is for sure something that happened in the last night.
- 7:13It's not AI.
- 7:14No.
- 7:15Okay.
- 7:16I'm not saying that it would happen.
- 7:17I'm so I'm scarred by it.
- 7:19I recently used an AI picture by accident for the first time in one of my, my videos.
- 7:24And of course it's like an extremely viral video and it's a like a very not good.
- 7:31And so I'm, I'm sensitive.
- 7:33But okay.
- 7:34Regardless, I still like, I, I just, these, I, I've seen how fat Boston fans have behaved
- 7:42Philly fans, uh, Raiders and Niners fans.
- 7:45I don't, I just see this shit so often.
- 7:48I'm like, yeah, a bunch of shitty fans use this as an excuse.
- 7:52These are people who act like this all the time because they're Knicks fans finding reasons,
- 7:58but my God, but last night was just, let's get into a little bit more about, about this
- 8:03just sort of like historical context.
- 8:05So we'll they're up three, one.
- 8:07This is officially the biggest comeback in the history of the NBA finals was this game.
- 8:11Now, if you were going to, if you were going to ask me if the Knicks were the type of team
- 8:15that we're going to have the greatest comeback in the NBA finals before this series, I would
- 8:18have said, yeah, that's, it seemed almost like kismet.
- 8:21Um, and there's a, we're going to, I'm going to have Mocha bring up a graphic right now
- 8:27that kind of illustrates the historical impact and how winning like this basically doesn't
- 8:37happen.
- 8:38So Mocha, if you want to bring up that tweet, um, the Knicks trailed by 27 points at halftime
- 8:43and one, every single other team that trailed by 20 points at halftime and NBA finals history
- 8:48ended up being the, uh, losing the game by double digits.
- 8:52So you'll see here, this is, this is the list of teams that have been in that deficit,
- 8:59a 20 plus point deficit, didn't even have to be 27 points, 20 plus you lose by double
- 9:05digits.
- 9:06If you're down at any point at halftime or after by double digits, you'll lose by double
- 9:11digits.
- 9:12If you're, you know what I mean?
- 9:13This is not a thing that fucking happens except for the Knicks.
- 9:16I mean, this is a stunning thing to look at.
- 9:19It's just a stunning graphic to look at.
- 9:20And that the stats don't end there, Cody, um, the highest true shooting percentage among
- 9:28all players who averaged 20 plus points per game over any four game stretch in the NBA
- 9:32finals history, OG and Anobi 78.4 true shooting percentage.
- 9:39OG is doing this.
- 9:41The people underneath him are magic Johnson, Kawhi Leonard, Ray Allen, Kevin Durant, clay
- 9:45Thompson, and Anthony Davis, phenomenal stuff.
- 9:47He is fucking, he is playing every OG stat has been nuts and the eye test is obviously
- 9:53matching it, but I always love when the eye test is telling us something that is also
- 9:57being shown in, in the stat, in the stats as well, the advanced stats and the box.
- 10:02Well, the other thing is, it's not even forget all the stats.
- 10:05The stats are there.
- 10:06They're there.
- 10:07I'll never forget the stats, but truly just let's do the eye test last night.
- 10:11Let's just sit in here and just take in the historical context of the game because OG
- 10:15and Anobi is final play the game where of course, golf of Jalen Brunson's, uh, three
- 10:18point, uh, miss, which by the way, I thought it was a jumper.
- 10:22No, it was a three pointer.
- 10:23He was outside.
- 10:24He was actually a little too far.
- 10:25It looked like, because he had to shoot what you had to be, had to shoot it over Wemby,
- 10:28but the short shot that bounced off the thing, I mean, because there was an extra kiss Fox
- 10:33was vacating over there to double team over there, uh, to help Wemby left a wide open
- 10:38lane for OG, but here's the thing, OG is tip, which was astonishing, fucking astonishing.
- 10:43The ability to be able to get that touch, which was almost behind him at that point
- 10:47because he was already jumped in the air and the just, just enough on it.
- 10:51Perfect amount to get it in there is just bat shit.
- 10:54Astonishing.
- 10:55That wasn't even the best play he made in that 10 seconds.
- 10:58That's the most amazing thing because everyone seems to forget that it was OG that blocked
- 11:02that dip shit layup from De'Aaron Fox.
- 11:05And by the way, I'm not one of the people that's saying this is entirely De'Aaron Fox
- 11:09is called.
- 11:10That being said, De'Aaron Fox became a turnover machine in the fourth quarter with not only
- 11:13that layup, which I can understand.
- 11:16I can understand when you think you have a fast break and a potential to get a three
- 11:19point lead.
- 11:20I also know there were six seconds left and that was a mistake.
- 11:26That was a, they would, they would have fouled you and you would have taken some foul shots.
- 11:30My fucking God, I get it.
- 11:32I truly get what you saw in front of you, but fuck, you are actually a veteran guy.
- 11:40In conjunction, in comparison to the other players on the team, you gotta fucking know
- 11:43that.
- 11:44I think there's, I mean, there's a, there's players that are not starters who are older
- 11:47than him, but I mean, he is the senior starter and that was just tough to watch.
- 11:53I think that the youth of that team will eventually rub off.
- 11:56It's very hard to be the guy on a team full of like young athletic, overly talented dudes
- 12:02who are, just don't have the same type of system.
- 12:05And again, don't, they, this team does not have the same kind of coaching, no shade,
- 12:08none at all.
- 12:09But like, listen, I don't think Mitch saw himself coaching the NBA finals at the beginning
- 12:13of the season.
- 12:14Here's the thing.
- 12:15I, part of me also understands his decision-making process and also hates it at the same time
- 12:19because listen, I understand you guys shot from three at like 70 fucking percent in the
- 12:24first half.
- 12:25You scored 60, 76 points in the first half, you scored like 20 fucking two in the second
- 12:29half.
- 12:30The lack of, that's where, you know, the fact that he didn't go away from it.
- 12:34And I, and I know this from watching the Celtics, I know this, I know this from watching the
- 12:37Celtics because the Celtics suffered from the same issue.
- 12:40The fact that they didn't go away from it.
- 12:42And Missoula said this because they couldn't, they don't have another plan.
- 12:48You and I can look at that team and be like, okay, we can think of a bunch of ways that
- 12:52they could have adjusted.
- 12:53But the reality is the one problem that Knicks don't have is, I mean, the Spurs don't have
- 12:59is not having someone who can help them adjust.
- 13:03They have pop.
- 13:04They have somebody who's mentoring their young coach.
- 13:07If they didn't make an adjustment, it's because they don't have that next gear.
- 13:10And that I, it's not to say that I don't think they should have tried something, but I do
- 13:15think with a team that young, like when, when we talk about what the Warriors did in their
- 13:19like last two, I would say our last two NBA finals, there were so many times where it's
- 13:24just like, they just all know what to do.
- 13:28So well, they've been in this situation so many times that you can make all the adjustments
- 13:32in the world.
- 13:33You can make all the adjustments in the world.
- 13:34They were down two-oh to the Suns, figured it out and ran the table on that team in the
- 13:38NBA finals.
- 13:39Like the Spurs don't have that.
- 13:42The Knicks do.
- 13:45Those are a bunch of veteran dudes.
- 13:47Dudes have played on other teams.
- 13:48Dudes have seen the NBA playoffs from multiple teams, multiple sides.
- 13:52It's so evident.
- 13:53And De'Aaron Fox making the mistakes that he did is to me, an element of losing the
- 13:59plot because you just don't have the consistency around you.
- 14:03I would fight back a little bit on it because I do think there is also an injury aspect
- 14:07to De'Aaron Fox right now because he can't really go into the paint the way he normally
- 14:10would.
- 14:11For instance, Fox had 44 touches in the second half, the most by any Spur, only five, only
- 14:17five touched the paint.
- 14:19San Antonio scored 0.387 points per chance in his touches.
- 14:25That is not good.
- 14:26Do you think that that's him trying to avoid the physicality?
- 14:29Possibly, but it's also, I don't think he has the speed, which we just saw when he got
- 14:34blocked by OG.
- 14:35He's just not often in the paint anyway.
- 14:37But got to do something.
- 14:38This team went eight straight, eight straight, not even passing around, eight straight, just
- 14:44getting to the line and shooting.
- 14:47And they allowed a 14 point deficit to be erased.
- 14:50Like it was batshit.
- 14:52And the fact that no one was even dribbling out at any point in that time was wild to
- 14:58me.
- 14:59Sometimes you just have to admit that like a team just made more mistakes.
- 15:04And yeah, like you're right, that De'Aaron Fox, like not make that, that choice was just
- 15:08such a, like a rookie move.
- 15:10Not to mention the pass to no one he made, to no one there were, there were mistakes.
- 15:14There's also, he punted a ball, 19 rows up, Wendy missing both of his free throws in the
- 15:19clutch.
- 15:20Like there's stuff that's like, you're not going to win a game when that's what's happening.
- 15:24While Jalen Brunson is doing what he's doing while OG is doing what he's doing, it's just
- 15:28not going to happen.
- 15:29I couldn't believe it.
- 15:30I'm like, there's no chance he did that 85% all, you can blame the rest, all you want,
- 15:35by the way, which is what all Spurs fans want to do, but like the refs didn't miss those
- 15:39free throws.
- 15:40I'm sorry.
- 15:41They didn't sure.
- 15:42Did they?
- 15:43They didn't not dribble it out.
- 15:44They did not cover OG like, let's be fucking for real.
- 15:47And this kind of brings me to the next part of this that I want to talk about, which is
- 15:51for you, like you were saying, this is one of the craziest games any of us have ever
- 15:54watched.
- 15:55And the best part about it was we kind of, we kind of felt like it could happen.
- 15:59So how does this compare for you to other all time sports comebacks?
- 16:04Like when you were sitting there thinking, what was it like, what was it bringing up
- 16:07in you?
- 16:08Uh, it was not quite the emotion that like, say the Oh four red Sox had, then hear me
- 16:15out on that.
- 16:16That was coming back from an Oh three deficit.
- 16:17And it was that legendary rivalry between the Yankees and the, and the red Sox.
- 16:20And also the very, very, very still open wound from Aaron Boone just one year earlier.
- 16:26And also full context.
- 16:27If you can really put yourself in this headspace, I know it's a little tricky, like 23 years
- 16:32after the fact, but not also, also they got Alex Rodriguez on the Yankees, which they
- 16:38kind of undercut and got because the red Sox were about to get a rock.
- 16:43The Yankees kind of were somehow got under and got that, got him out of from under him.
- 16:47And now the reds, the Yankees who were already looked like this insurmountable threat now
- 16:52added the reigning MVP to their team.
- 16:54Like how are the red Sox ever going to fucking do this ever?
- 16:57So the fact, the way they did it and how it happened and that the Farrelly brothers were
- 17:01shooting a movie that they had to change the ending of the fucking movie to that was, that's
- 17:07gotta be tippy tippy top for me.
- 17:10But if we're talking just one game, yeah, man, we've been spoiled.
- 17:15I thought that last game, seven of the world series last year was never be top.
- 17:19This was right.
- 17:20This is right there with it.
- 17:21I would say, yeah.
- 17:22I mean, the series between the Yankees and the red Sox is sort of like, it's not, and
- 17:25it's probably never going to be topped because it's a history thing, but this is a one game.
- 17:29Right.
- 17:30But as far as one game, obviously the thing that it really brought up for a lot of people
- 17:34because it was a one game situation was 28 to three was the Patriots coming back down
- 17:3928 to three in the third quarter to the Falcons in the super bowl.
- 17:46And just that feeling of like, once it started, you're, you know, it can't happen in your
- 17:50brain.
- 17:51You're like, this can't possibly happen.
- 17:52You cannot come back from this big of a deficit in the super bowl.
- 17:54They're getting their asses kicked, whatever.
- 17:56But then the first thing happens and like some fans, they're like, hold on.
- 18:02And then the second thing happens and they close the gap and they close the gap and you
- 18:05start realizing, like, not only do I think they're gonna like potentially tie this up,
- 18:11but I think they're going to win this game.
- 18:12Right.
- 18:13And then by the time it goes to overtime, you just know what the fuck is going to happen.
- 18:16That was the vibe.
- 18:17And that's what this Knicks game felt like.
- 18:19The difference, I think you can tell me if I'm wrong, is that the Patriots were the Patriots.
- 18:26Yeah.
- 18:27Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, they were the insurmountable battle.
- 18:30They were supposed to be, I mean, they had, they had been steam rolling since Tom Brady
- 18:34had come back from his suspension.
- 18:36They were on a mission from God.
- 18:37The fact that they'd been down that much, nobody saw that coming.
- 18:41And then you have one of the clutchest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, just fucking dealing,
- 18:47just in crazy mode, Belichick and his coaching staff making the adjustments.
- 18:52You're like, yeah, if any team's going to do this as them, this Knicks team has no business.
- 18:58This is not fucking, this is not LeBron.
- 19:02As much as I love Jalen Brunson and as clutch as they have been, this, that's the whole,
- 19:06that's the thing that makes this like a little next level for me, a little bit more slaying
- 19:10the giant for me, a little bit more, holy fuck, I can't believe this is happening for
- 19:13me, is that they are true, genuine, real underdogs.
- 19:19And so like as a one game, there really aren't that many like one-to-one comparisons in terms
- 19:27of comebacks.
- 19:28I can understand that.
- 19:29But listen, it's, the series is amazing.
- 19:31I do think that the Spurs will get this next game and maybe it'll go six and I do hope
- 19:35it goes seven.
- 19:36Yeah.
- 19:37I'm inclined to now think it's going to be Knicks in six.
- 19:40This has just been an unbelievable series.
- 19:41Not even going Knicks in five.
- 19:42You think the Spurs are taking the next one?
- 19:43I really do think the Spurs are going to get it back to Madison Square Garden.
- 19:45Honestly, I would also like, if it does happen, I wouldn't mind them winning.
- 19:49If they do win it, I'd like them to win in Madison Square Garden.
- 19:51I mean, listen, if we're going to be, we might as well be picky at this point because it's
- 19:53been such a great fun.
- 19:54Because why not?
- 19:55Why not make it all perfect?
- 19:56It absolutely happened in New York, especially after they got kind of robbed of the experience
- 20:02of game three.
- 20:03And you know what the other thing was, the other play of the game now that has not been
- 20:06mentioned at all?
- 20:07Oh yeah.
- 20:08Carl Anthony Towns.
- 20:09Yeah.
- 20:10Because in watching that game live, because they never showed a replay of the final play
- 20:13of the game at any point, because everyone, everything was just so batshit.
- 20:17Everybody's so fucking nuts.
- 20:18Yeah.
- 20:19Like they had to get to an interview with OG on the, like everything was, we never saw
- 20:22what happened.
- 20:23I'm like, was that just a bad pass?
- 20:25No, it wasn't.
- 20:26It was a cat.
- 20:27Fucking tipped it.
- 20:28And what's more amazing is I went over the video today with Derrick Fisher.
- 20:31He paused.
- 20:32He's like shit.
- 20:33I'm like, what?
- 20:34He's like Spurs would have won if cat didn't tip that.
- 20:36I'm like, why?
- 20:37He's like, Castle was wide open and he was going for a dunk.
- 20:41The pass was going to be an alley you and Castle was going to get it and he was going
- 20:46to get it.
- 20:47Castle is like Castle.
- 20:48It snuck through and was wide open.
- 20:50This was the game.
- 20:51Cat saved the fucking game.
- 20:53And by the way, cat after the game talking about taking things as he said, you know,
- 20:57when you lose a parent, you, everything is, you'll take every sign you can get.
- 21:02And like, you know, he was talking about just feeling connected to his mom and the signs
- 21:05that he gets from her.
- 21:06And like, it's just like, Oh, have you guys not become likable enough?
- 21:10You know, like, I mean, stop telling me nice things about cat.
- 21:12You know how much I love cat.
- 21:13I know.
- 21:14I'm a big cat fan.
- 21:15And by the way, his Jordan wore, she not only when she had the game, but she had her bag.
- 21:19I don't know if you don't know about this.
- 21:20Jordan has been bringing the same bag to every.
- 21:22And she didn't bring it to game three, but it was back for game four.
- 21:26So I wonder why, because some asshole showed up.
- 21:29Yeah.
- 21:30All right.
- 21:31Headline number two, Tanya.
- 21:33So we're going to quickly hit on this.
- 21:36There's only really one thing I really want to say about it, but my sports aren't political.
- 21:40Keep your politics out of my sports, please.
- 21:42That's what the Republicans always told me.
- 21:44Yeah.
- 21:45Especially Dana White, which is really funny because $60 million in several federal agents
- 21:48are required to stage Trump's UFC fight at the White House.
- 21:53Now there has been a lawsuit against this.
- 21:56Someone has filed a law.
- 21:57I think it was two Virginia residents have filed a lawsuit against the National Park
- 22:01Service, which oversees the South Lawn.
- 22:04That's a whole thing right now.
- 22:05They're obviously not going to win.
- 22:07Well, right.
- 22:09But this is required a truly stunning amount of not only money, but resources.
- 22:17When I saw the $60 million, that was one thing.
- 22:19But then the idea that there's been like dozens, 700 to 900 people staffed, 20 and 30 trucks
- 22:26of equipment.
- 22:27Like, yeah, it really put into perspective just what a fucking spectacle this is.
- 22:32And here's the, you were talking last, you were talking last episode about just the humor
- 22:40you were finding in Trump sort of feeling entitled to these things and like what might
- 22:44happen for him.
- 22:46You know that the meteorologists have forecast that day as near 90 degrees with potential
- 22:53rain and high humidity, which has sparked concerns among fighters and commentators regarding
- 22:58outdoor elements and dehydration.
- 23:00Can't wait.
- 23:01Now this is something I do find incredibly funny and I'll tell you why.
- 23:06Not only do I want anything Trump does to fail miserably, especially these spectacles
- 23:12that cost the taxpayers millions of dollars and take away, you know, ages, federal agencies
- 23:18from doing their job.
- 23:20But every single fucking athlete in the U S in the UFC, they can, they can be absolutely
- 23:27miserable.
- 23:28I don't fucking care about any of those people.
- 23:30Now not the whole entire sport itself of MMA, whatever, but anybody working for Dana White
- 23:37and planning to, to fight at the White House can dehydrate themselves into fucking next
- 23:43week by good riddance.
- 23:45Have an awful time.
- 23:46I hope it's the worst night of your life and I will laugh so hard.
- 23:51I mean this from the bottom of my heart.
- 23:53I don't give a fuck about anyone going to this, fighting in this, promoting this, being
- 23:57a part of this UFC is dead to me like entirely.
- 24:00I think the, they have now destroyed the entire art, I'm going to call it an art form of MMA
- 24:06fucking get rid of it.
- 24:07It means nothing.
- 24:08This is, in my opinion, and my opinion, you can say otherwise, I don't really give a shit.
- 24:12My opinion is right.
- 24:13This is the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen in my life.
- 24:17I have never been more secondhandly embarrassed by a bunch of fake tough people.
- 24:21I've never been more embarrassed for our country.
- 24:24I've never been more embarrassed for, we turned the fucking White House into a six flags.
- 24:30I got nothing.
- 24:31I don't care.
- 24:32I don't care about this event.
- 24:33I hope it fucking fails miserably.
- 24:36I hope there's mosquitoes.
- 24:37I hope I hope locusts show up.
- 24:40I hope it hails.
- 24:42I hope it sinks into a sinkhole right into the crust of the fucking earth.
- 24:46I do not care.
- 24:47I truly hope every fighter, every commentator, everybody there to watch it is miserable, hot
- 24:53and covered in bug bites, dehydrated, hungry and tired and wishes it never happened.
- 24:59That's what I hope.
- 25:00And if that's the case, I will ha ha hee hee hee.
- 25:03I will sleep well.
- 25:07Again, this is embarrassing.
- 25:08It's fucking embarrassing.
- 25:09And anyway, luckily I have not heard a single person try to defend it.
- 25:12I know there are going to be plenty that do.
- 25:14And I don't really.
- 25:15Yeah.
- 25:16Luckily they're not really in our circle.
- 25:17I know.
- 25:18I bet there's gonna be some friends of mine that are going to defend it.
- 25:20I vehemently disagree with them.
- 25:22And honestly, is it Craig?
- 25:24I don't know.
- 25:25Craig might defend it.
- 25:26We'll find out.
- 25:27He might.
- 25:28I would disagree with him.
- 25:29Yeah.
- 25:30And I wouldn't believe it.
- 25:31I'll go step further.
- 25:32I wouldn't believe in a world that he doesn't think this is embarrassing.
- 25:34He does.
- 25:35I don't know if he thinks it's embarrassing.
- 25:36But he'll probably say that.
- 25:37What is he going to say?
- 25:38I don't know if he'll say that.
- 25:39But I don't think he'll disagree.
- 25:40But I don't know.
- 25:41I haven't talked to him about it.
- 25:42I'm always pre-ready to be mad at Craig.
- 25:43Just in case.
- 25:44I get that.
- 25:45Yeah.
- 25:46I'm always like, what are you about to say?
- 25:47I can understand people being pre-mad at Craig.
- 25:48All right.
- 25:49Can't pick your family, bro.
- 25:50No, you can't.
- 25:51I love you, Craig.
- 25:52You know that.
- 25:53Craig's lucky.
- 25:54Yes.
- 25:55And he speaks very highly of you, Craig, to the point where I do call you some slack
- 25:58behind the scenes.
- 25:59Oh, no, no, no.
- 26:01No, you don't.
- 26:02No, I've gotten, I have given him a few props here and there because of you.
- 26:05Occasionally.
- 26:06But make no mistake.
- 26:07No, no, no.
- 26:08I see some of the headlines he makes.
- 26:11There's some machinations at play.
- 26:12There's some stuff in there.
- 26:13I'm still thinking about that Dunkin' Donuts black card though.
- 26:15But here's the thing.
- 26:16Whenever he would do this when I was on the air with him, I would just say, oh, come on,
- 26:20you don't believe that shit.
- 26:21And then we'd have a great conversation about it.
- 26:25It was you making really good points and him just arguing.
- 26:28Yeah.
- 26:29Sometimes.
- 26:30All right.
- 26:31I love talking.
- 26:32We're back to, I think it was maybe last episode, the episode before we had to defend the NCAA.
- 26:37We're going to be back to maybe.
- 26:38Yeah.
- 26:39Don't worry.
- 26:40That was a one time deal.
- 26:41One time deal.
- 26:42We're back on your bullshit.
- 26:43They're back on their bullshit.
- 26:44The University of Florida is going to spend a jaw dropping figure on their football stadium
- 26:50renovation.
- 26:51They have unveiled the most expansive and expensive renovation in college sports history.
- 26:57The school's projected investment for renovating Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is set at $1.45 billion.
- 27:03Is the renovation not a tearing down and starting all over?
- 27:07Well, yes.
- 27:08According to the project's official website, fans should experience a more comfortable,
- 27:12convenient and enjoyable game day from arrival through departure.
- 27:15Improvements are expected to include more accessible concessions, improved restroom
- 27:18access, enhanced wayfinding, better traffic flow through the stadium, upgraded technology
- 27:22and additional gathering spaces.
- 27:23Apparently that costs $1.45 billion.
- 27:25And who's paying for that?
- 27:28Well, I don't know.
- 27:30Because it's one of two people.
- 27:31The school?
- 27:32Yeah, it's the school.
- 27:33But really, it's one of two things.
- 27:35And Florida's not a state school, right?
- 27:37Oh, I don't know.
- 27:38Because Florida State is a state school.
- 27:40I'm assuming University of Florida is not a state school.
- 27:42So I'm assuming...
- 27:43Let me double check that.
- 27:44So what tells me who's paying for this is the school, aka they're probably going to
- 27:49raise tuition.
- 27:50So the students and families pay for it.
- 27:53I mean, for...
- 27:54All right.
- 27:55Well, speaking of private schools.
- 27:56In comparison, Northwestern is currently building an $862 million stadium for its football program,
- 28:01a brand new stadium.
- 28:02A brand new stadium.
- 28:03Half the price.
- 28:04And Penn State is renovating its stadium for $700 million.
- 28:06But Northwestern's in what state?
- 28:08Illinois?
- 28:09Isn't that a blue state?
- 28:10Ish, usually.
- 28:11Oh, boy.
- 28:12Oh, boy.
- 28:13But I thought everything cost so much more in a blue state.
- 28:16But that's a red state in Florida.
- 28:19How is that double the fucking price?
- 28:22It's a great question.
- 28:24It's an exceptionally great question.
- 28:25Northwestern's close to a major city, too, isn't it?
- 28:29It is a part of the state university system of Florida, by the way.
- 28:32Florida is.
- 28:33It is?
- 28:34I wonder who's paying for this.
- 28:36So I wanted to just...
- 28:38I also just wanted to point out that Florida's football program has not won a national title
- 28:45or really ever.
- 28:46I mean, they won the BCS in 2008.
- 28:48Their last Heisman was Tim Tebow in 2007.
- 28:51God, don't we all love him.
- 28:53They haven't won the SEC since 2008.
- 28:56That's still a conference.
- 28:57So the SEC?
- 28:58Yeah, still a thing.
- 28:59It's normal.
- 29:01So this is not exactly your cream of the crop.
- 29:04And the reason I wanted to put it in here outside of talk about the fact that this...
- 29:08This is another reminder that these schools complaining about paying, about the unfairness
- 29:17of the certain kinds of schools that can bring in all these people and pay all the NIL money
- 29:22for all of it.
- 29:23And it's going to...
- 29:24Yeah, it's so sad.
- 29:25Right?
- 29:26The argument is always competitiveness.
- 29:29How can we all compete with the Louisiana states and the Michigans and the Ohio states
- 29:34and the whatever, right?
- 29:36Okay, Florida.
- 29:38What do you fucking mean?
- 29:40What do you mean?
- 29:41You're building by far the most expensive stadium renovations in the history of the NCAA.
- 29:48And you're telling me on the flip side that you have schools that you can't compete with
- 29:53on NIL?
- 29:54You can't compete on the NIL front?
- 29:55Why is that?
- 29:56Is it because your fucking program hasn't done shit since the George W. Bush's last
- 30:02fucking term?
- 30:04What the fuck are we doing?
- 30:06Every time I hear one of these schools, one of these ADs, some fucking conference head,
- 30:12talk about the fact that we have to make sure that the sport remains competitive, and then
- 30:16you go out and spend this much money and say you can't spend money on your fucking quarterbacks
- 30:20or on the transfer portal?
- 30:21Yeah, it's embarrassing.
- 30:22It's all a joke.
- 30:23They make me laugh only in their own incompetence.
- 30:26But cool, enjoy your more accessible concessions.
- 30:31I'm really excited for the accessibility.
- 30:32By the way, nothing that they listed there?
- 30:35What billion dollars?
- 30:36$1.45.
- 30:37$1.45 fucking five billion dollars to renovate in fucking Florida.
- 30:43I love how they spin it.
- 30:45The way that they spin it and they're like, look at all the things we're doing for the
- 30:48fans.
- 30:49It's going to be easier to get in and out.
- 30:50It's going to be more accessible concessions in restrooms.
- 30:54You know, for a goddamn fact, everything they just listed cost about $20 million.
- 30:59The stuff that's actually going to cost them money is the shit they're not telling us about.
- 31:03They're like, they've got fucking like, you know, they're installing like toilets that
- 31:07can read the DNA of the fucking shit you just took.
- 31:10Probably a lot of facial recognition shit, probably building a data center.
- 31:14There's some like cryo chambers shit that they're putting in there like, shut up, dude.
- 31:20What the fuck do you need to build it?
- 31:23You're a college.
- 31:24Perhaps they think it's a field of dreams, a shitty college, but college, if you build
- 31:30it, they will come.
- 31:31I think if they build it, they'll get all the recruits for $1.4 fucking billion.
- 31:36Pay the players a little more.
- 31:38They'll fucking come.
- 31:39Yeah.
- 31:40I mean, that field that they, that field that Kevin Costner built couldn't have cost more
- 31:43than like, you know, a couple thousand dollars easily, but they don't have any corn in Florida
- 31:47or, or, or ghost baseball players or ghost baseball players, just, just meth and more
- 31:53meth.
- 31:54Although the meth, the meth people might see the ghost baseball players fair.
- 31:57So really it's kind of come in full circle.
- 31:59Now that I think about it, was he on meth?
- 32:02I've told you my field of dreams theory.
- 32:05No.
- 32:06Oh yeah.
- 32:07Yeah.
- 32:08Yeah.
- 32:09Oh, by the way, field of dreams is a terrible movie.
- 32:10It's a fucking horrible movie.
- 32:11I want to make that abundantly clear.
- 32:12If you like field dreams, it's okay to be wrong sometimes, but it's a shit movie.
- 32:17It's how do I put it?
- 32:20There should be a sequel.
- 32:21Hear me out.
- 32:22And the sequel should be the trial of Kevin Costner's character for the murder of Terrence.
- 32:29Uh, because I don't know how it's going to hold up in court.
- 32:32Your honor, I swear the man I kidnapped, it just went into the corn and disappeared with
- 32:38the ghost.
- 32:39You're going to prison for fucking life is what you're going to do.
- 32:42You can't just disappear someone in your ghost Canyon prison.
- 32:47You kidnapped a famous author and make no mistake, fucking kidnapped him.
- 32:52I don't care if he took him to a Boston fucking Red Sox game, he kidnapped him and took his
- 32:56kidnapping to a Red Sox game and then seemingly murdered him.
- 33:01And uh, I look forward to the sequel when Kevin Costner is put away for years, which
- 33:04he belongs in prison.
- 33:06It's just him going through the trial.
- 33:07All to play catch with his dad.
- 33:10Fucking fuck you with this stupid nostalgia.
- 33:12I played catch with my dad once.
- 33:13It fucking sucked.
- 33:14It made me a worse baseball player.
- 33:16My dad was a pretty good baseball player.
- 33:18I wasn't.
- 33:19I mean, you became a very good baseball player.
- 33:21So everything because of him, I was going to say, everything's fine.
- 33:25You did it in spite of him.
- 33:26No, to spite.
- 33:27I said, I heard what I said.
- 33:29I know what I said.
- 33:30And I will say it again.
- 33:32Tell your mom to tell them that I think he probably heard it and he's going to chat with
- 33:35her about it now.
- 33:36Fucking asshole.
- 33:37Fucking asshole.
- 33:38Wherever you are somewhere, wherever limbo is, Jay just got in trouble for no reason.
- 33:42It's not, he's not even here.
- 33:44I always find reasons.
- 33:45Yeah.
- 33:46All right.
- 33:47Next final headline real quick.
- 33:48We have homophobia in sports in 2026.
- 33:52I love it.
- 33:53I love, I love how scared of gay people you all are.
- 33:56Arizona coach Becky Burke has faced online backlash after announcing her wife's pregnancy.
- 34:02She's the women's basketball coach and she announced in a June 8th post on Twitter that
- 34:05her wife is pregnant.
- 34:07Burke family update.
- 34:08Baby girl coming December 2026.
- 34:10Love that.
- 34:11Great.
- 34:12Love a working, love a working woman, pregnant, doing her thing.
- 34:16Burke's post triggered negative comments, one in particular by a woman who wants to
- 34:20overturn Obergefell versus Hodges, the landmark 2015 Supreme Court ruling that legalized same
- 34:25sex marriage.
- 34:26Uh, Katie Faust, who is the founder of the nonprofit group, which believes same sex couples
- 34:30should not be allowed to be parents, quote tweeted Burke's post.
- 34:35And uh, she's also a leader of another group which builds itself as the defenders of children,
- 34:39but more simply seeks to reverse the ruling.
- 34:42On Monday she used her platform to say some pretty insane stuff.
- 34:45Um, I'm not actually going to read what she said.
- 34:47No, I don't want to hear it because it really doesn't matter.
- 34:50Just take my word for it.
- 34:51That's wildly insanely homophobic and also like nonsense, right?
- 34:55Of course.
- 34:56Naturally homophobia is nonsense and the more homophobic someone is, the more nonsensical
- 34:59they sound.
- 35:00Um, this is all to say that number one, I can't believe we're still doing this in 2026.
- 35:05In fact, it seems like it's somehow getting worse instead of better.
- 35:08The second thing is that I've recently come to grips with the fact that maybe part of
- 35:11the reason I hate being in the state of Arizona is because every time I step into it, I can
- 35:15feel the mega conservative bigoted bullshit of that entire fucking state.
- 35:19And I'm starting to think that the poor sons and diamondbacks and the fact that they don't
- 35:25have an NHL team anymore, this whole state is just doomed to fail at everything they
- 35:31fucking do because they are, they are truly Arizona gets off scot free for being an absolutely
- 35:37bigoted wasteland.
- 35:38Oh yeah.
- 35:39I want to make this abundantly clear.
- 35:41Arizona is just Florida West.
- 35:42Now I will give them a little bit of credit.
- 35:44They have actually done, they have voted in some blue people.
- 35:47They've had a Democrat Senator, a Democrat representatives.
- 35:51They've put in mutton, they've started to push that, that thing toward purple and it's
- 35:55mostly been because of Phoenix.
- 35:57Really the rest of the cities in that state are some of the reddest cities in the country.
- 36:04Not Mississippi, not Alabama, not Texas, the Texas outside of outside of San Antonio, which
- 36:10is a kind of on the line in terms of conservative versus liberal.
- 36:13All the cities in Texas are blue, Arizona.
- 36:16Not so much.
- 36:17It's, it's Phoenix trying to hold it down for fucking dear for dear life.
- 36:22Every other city, Tucson, Tucson, Mesa, um, I think, uh, let me, let me double check on
- 36:28Tucson, but Mesa Chandler, all those they're all, they're very Mesa, Mesa, Arizona is one
- 36:32of the reddest cities in the country.
- 36:35I mean this from the heart I I've spent and I've done the math, I believe three full years
- 36:39of my life in Arizona.
- 36:42I fucking hate Arizona.
- 36:44I've always hated Arizona.
- 36:45I will continue to hate Arizona.
- 36:47Thank you.
- 36:48It's fucking awful.
- 36:49Yeah.
- 36:50Oh, you poor thing.
- 36:51Yeah.
- 36:52It's fucking awful.
- 36:53The only place in Arizona I like is Tucson.
- 36:54And I mean, I like is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
- 36:56Yeah.
- 36:57I do want to, I'll reserve the Tucson slender until I can guarantee, but like it is, it
- 37:02is really, really bad.
- 37:03And so, um, I would encourage if you love the, the diamondbacks, the spurs, the sudden
- 37:10devils, the, you know, I don't know, like the coogs, what are they?
- 37:13Bear cats, the Arizona bear cats, uh, no, the wildcats, wildcats or copper.
- 37:16They say bear down though, which there's a lot of things about the bear down thing.
- 37:21There's the copperheads thing and there's the wildcats thing.
- 37:24Just fucking pick.
- 37:25Yeah.
- 37:26So, um, yeah.
- 37:27Like if you're, if you're a fan of those things, maybe you look at the karma coming out of
- 37:31your goddamn state because it is a nightmare down there.
- 37:34And this is, this is just like another reminder of why I hate everything that's constantly
- 37:39going on.
- 37:40I feel like they, I feel like the sons and the diamondbacks at the very least deserve
- 37:43better, but they're not going to get it until, until this state figures out that they are,
- 37:48I don't know, in the United States of America.
- 37:51I guess they've missed that part the whole time.
- 37:54Listen, listen, what this is all boiling down to is simply this in 2026, if you are a person
- 38:01that is simply homophobic to the point where you just hate gay people, trans, but this
- 38:07is what I want you to do.
- 38:09I want you to take your left fist and I want you to punch yourself in the face over and
- 38:13over and over again.
- 38:14So I don't have to do it.
- 38:17You are the lowest of the low to me.
- 38:20If you are somebody that takes our most vulnerable people who do literally nothing wrong and
- 38:28make them beneath you, you make me fucking sick.
- 38:31Like trying to make me sick.
- 38:32Uh, an ex teammate of mine, a fit can't remember this asshole's name.
- 38:35He also is doing all because my religious beliefs, I wouldn't dare wear the hat.
- 38:38Fuck you too.
- 38:39Fuck you guys.
- 38:40You're pieces of shit.
- 38:41Period.
- 38:42Stop.
- 38:43I got nothing else to say for you.
- 38:44You can quote all your religious beliefs you want.
- 38:45I can cite parts of the Bible that you clearly haven't read that contradict all of your dog
- 38:50shit, uh, morals that you've implemented in your head.
- 38:54Um, I hate the fact that you guys get to procreate and implement those dog shit morals into your
- 39:01children's head.
- 39:02Just creating this perpetual cycle of just monstrous fucking people.
- 39:06Um, I have never had a single person that I've never met a trans person that only one
- 39:13thing they wanted was to be just recognized and understood.
- 39:16That's it.
- 39:17Nothing more.
- 39:18Didn't need anything else.
- 39:19Um, the, the people who say, yeah, I just don't want the gay ideology, uh, put up, you're
- 39:25a fucking idiot.
- 39:26You are a, a, you're a, you're an inbred shit hook.
- 39:29That's the only thing you are.
- 39:31And I don't like that inbred shit hooks get to have and make more inbred shit hooks.
- 39:35I, I, and I love shit hooks.
- 39:37Never heard that, but I'm into it.
- 39:38Um, and I think it's really funny when we'd have to talk here about the gay ideology.
- 39:43When I grew up in the straight ideology that encouraged men to objectify young girls, cause
- 39:50men to expose themselves to me when I was in a drive through working a drive through
- 39:55when I was 14 cause men to beep at me when I was walking down the street as a, as a literal
- 40:01child.
- 40:02So congrats on here.
- 40:04Like, and I, and I was raised to believe that you just put up with that.
- 40:07That's the straight, the straight indoctrination that I got was to believe that I was never
- 40:12actually even allowed to expect safety around grown adult men, let alone the, the, the boys
- 40:17my age.
- 40:18So I would have loved a little gay indoctrination, indoctrination, by the way, the, the new word
- 40:24for these inbred shit hooks is masculinity.
- 40:28You know what?
- 40:29Um, you know, it's actually, you know what masculinity is?
- 40:31It's never fucking talking about masculinity.
- 40:34If you talk about masculinity, you're a bitch.
- 40:38Have a great day.
- 40:39Bitch made.
- 40:40You are a little, little tiny bitch and you will never be anything but a little bitch.
- 40:45And I honestly would love, you know, what's so great about this too is like you couldn't
- 40:50even, you couldn't, you couldn't actually beat up Cody like, like that's what it's like.
- 40:56You couldn't actually win a fight, a physical fight.
- 40:58So like when you call them a bitch and they say, and they're like, Oh no, I did it.
- 41:02You get your ass kicked.
- 41:03Honestly, I could probably kick your ass too, but I don't want to, I have a beautiful face
- 41:08and I don't want to get a, I don't want to get a, a bruise or like, you know, a black
- 41:11eye.
- 41:12I don't care.
- 41:13That's what happens.
- 41:14Well, I mean, you're, that's your moneymaker as well.
- 41:16It's not really, I mean, it's just like, you think it's your big brain?
- 41:19No, no, no, no, no, we have to be very clear about this.
- 41:24I want to make this abundantly clear.
- 41:26I don't think I'm smart.
- 41:28I know.
- 41:29I think you're smart and you don't even, I don't think I'm smart at all.
- 41:31You're an idiot.
- 41:32No, no, no.
- 41:33I can't.
- 41:34I think I'm average intelligence.
- 41:35Mocha.
- 41:36Do you feel this way too?
- 41:37I just think we're fucking surrounded by goddamn idiots.
- 41:39Now Mocha is very stupid.
- 41:40That's why we have him doing the boards.
- 41:42He can't candle anything else.
- 41:45He wouldn't know how to feed himself if he didn't drop his mouth so much.
- 41:48Yeah, exactly.
- 41:49Fucking Mocha.
- 41:51Okay, well, now that we know that everyone here is stupid but me, let's go to media corner.
- 41:58Tiki Barber popped off about when Tiki Barber has become full WFAN.
- 42:03It's happened.
- 42:04He calls Victor Wembenyama cocky ass Victor Wembenyama who deserves to get punked.
- 42:11Now I'm going to read you this exact quote, okay?
- 42:15Here's what Tiki Barber said in New York media.
- 42:18He's a New York guy.
- 42:19Yeah, he is.
- 42:21He's a cocky ass.
- 42:22Wemby is.
- 42:23He really is.
- 42:24There's no humility in his game.
- 42:25What?
- 42:26And the problem, just like Jeremy Shockey pointing to the scoreboard against the San
- 42:31Francisco 49ers in 2002, is that when it comes back to get you, nobody feels sorry for you.
- 42:38Everybody says you deserved it.
- 42:39Wemby, you deserve to miss two free throws at the end.
- 42:42You deserve to get punked and you shoot two for 11 in the fourth quarter.
- 42:46You deserved everything you got because you put it way out there before against a team
- 42:50in the Knicks who are committed to winning every moment.
- 42:53Every moment.
- 42:54And the Spurs weren't.
- 42:55Now, before I let you say anything, I would just like to remind everybody that Jeremy
- 43:00Shockey, if you were alive then, because it was 24 years ago, was a racist, okay?
- 43:07Noted racist.
- 43:08So let's maybe not compare Wemby to that.
- 43:12Cody, what do you think about this tone that Tiki Barber decided to take with the very
- 43:18young second year, extremely kind and thoughtful, generally, Victor Wemby-Nyama?
- 43:24What the fuck are you talking about, Tiki?
- 43:27Tiki, WFAN already has got Craig and they've already got Evan and they've already got,
- 43:34like, Loudmouths.
- 43:35You know what's cool about Tiki Barber being at WFAN?
- 43:39He brings a credibility of an athlete's perspective.
- 43:43This is not an athlete's perspective.
- 43:45This is just, like, WFAN AI slop type shit.
- 43:49This is actually, this is hack.
- 43:50This is radio hack stuff.
- 43:51This is hack shit.
- 43:52Yeah.
- 43:53And this is not the first time he's done it.
- 43:54He went all in with his really good analysis that Embiid is a bitch.
- 43:58Okay.
- 43:59Yeah, Joel Embiid is a bitch.
- 44:00Can you give me a little bit more than that?
- 44:02Because dude, you were a pro athlete and a phenomenal one at that.
- 44:06So, like, why wouldn't you just take the approach of maybe giving your inside information
- 44:12of being a pro athlete of what maybe this young cat might be going through rather than,
- 44:15I need everyone in New York to like me because I'm New York pro, pro, pro, pro, pro.
- 44:19Motherfucker.
- 44:20If somebody's doing something wrong, just say they're doing something wrong.
- 44:22But also, this kid's 20 fucking two.
- 44:24What are you, what are you fucking talking about?
- 44:27Cocky ass doesn't deserve it.
- 44:28They don't, they don't commit to winning every single, they're in the goddamn finals and
- 44:33they're all 20.
- 44:34They're all in year two.
- 44:36Like, what are we talking about?
- 44:38Like I appreciate the shock jock nature that you're trying to turn yourself into for honestly
- 44:43some reason, but I just, I don't, you're Tiki Barber, like, like that's a good thing.
- 44:50Like you can bring, Tiki Barber can bring things to that net, that station that really
- 44:55like no one else can.
- 44:56Yeah.
- 44:57Boomer played obviously for, but Boomer has been so long retired that I don't think it's
- 45:00the same fucking game that Boomer played anymore.
- 45:03Tiki's not that far removed from the game that I would like to actually hear a perspective
- 45:08of a former pro athlete, especially when you're surrounded by all the loud mouths of the, of
- 45:12the New York media landscape, because none of those motherfuckers played any fucking
- 45:17sport.
- 45:18They don't know what any of, none of them know what they're talking about, fucking none
- 45:22of them.
- 45:23So like, what are we doing?
- 45:24Well, that's the thing is that I'm going to be abundantly clear here.
- 45:28And some of you aren't going to want to hear this, but like there is no former athlete
- 45:32that's been ever, ever been hired.
- 45:35And I'm talking about like these star athletes, like a star athletes.
- 45:38I'm not talking about Dan Orlovsky, who was like a backup quarterback and who's been hired
- 45:42for a different reason than someone who is, was a star in the NFL.
- 45:46None of you have been hired for shock value.
- 45:49Okay.
- 45:50We don't need your fucking hot takes.
- 45:53None of your hot takes, by the way, your net, your hot takes are never going to be as interesting
- 45:57as somebody who has been like working on the craft of communication for their entire fucking
- 46:01adult lives.
- 46:02While you were playing football, we were going to journalism school, learning how to communicate
- 46:06effectively for our entire adult lives.
- 46:09That's what we've been doing.
- 46:10And then you retire and you try to play that game and you end up sounding like a Twitter
- 46:14troll.
- 46:15That's all you sound like.
- 46:16You have no ability to do this.
- 46:17You make Stephen A. Smith look like he's actually very adept at his job.
- 46:21And I am not kidding.
- 46:23Like this is, this is the kind of stuff that pisses me off because Tiki Barber could have
- 46:27gone on here and said, you know, I can see that, that Wemby is getting cocky, that he's
- 46:32getting overconfident in these moments.
- 46:33Like I can see where he's starting to lose.
- 46:36I want to listen to this.
- 46:37Keep going.
- 46:38Tell me more.
- 46:39I'm not kidding.
- 46:40I'd rather listen to this than whatever the fuck Tiki said.
- 46:42You can see he's starting to lose his ability to like stay composed in the moment because
- 46:47as stuff falls apart around him, the veteran presence and leadership and the ability to
- 46:52adjust on the fly on the other side of the court is something that he cannot keep up
- 46:57with.
- 46:58And so he's lashing out.
- 46:59He's getting more physical.
- 47:00He is starting to commit texts.
- 47:01He shouldn't commit.
- 47:02He's making mistakes.
- 47:03He doesn't normally make.
- 47:04And here's how I see why I see that happening.
- 47:06Here's an experience I had as a player where I could feel that I was sort of in over my,
- 47:11you know, I was over my skis in it.
- 47:12Right?
- 47:13Like I was in over my head a little bit.
- 47:14That's what I want Tiki Barber to talk about.
- 47:16Now, if he decides that he actually like genuinely has these feelings about how Wemby's behaving,
- 47:23you can have them.
- 47:24I'm actually not telling you to like Wemby's performance or behavior on the court.
- 47:28What I am telling you is to do your job and contextualize it in a way that brings us more
- 47:34than what I will get in from an anonymous account on threads all across the course of
- 47:40my day.
- 47:41Because literally that whole thing looks like somebody was mad on threads from their mom's
- 47:46basement.
- 47:47And I'm going to prove to you, by the way, I'm going to prove to you that this can be
- 47:50done in a way that is hot Tiki fun, loud, and interesting, but also comes from the perspective
- 47:56of a player.
- 47:57So Mocha, I would like you to play Amman Shumpert on first take talking about Wemby's place
- 48:04as the face of the NBA.
- 48:06Let's go to it.
- 48:07People would go fist to people, but we're in a different time, right?
- 48:12We're in the face of the league time, right?
- 48:15That's what the conversation is.
- 48:16The face of this ain't about when he was born.
- 48:19We can't control that.
- 48:20Right.
- 48:21We can't control it.
- 48:22I would have loved to have been born and played against Mike and Kobe and Larry and Magic.
- 48:28I would have loved to.
- 48:29I was born in 90.
- 48:30Right.
- 48:31We ain't running from this.
- 48:32The big guy.
- 48:33That's a star.
- 48:34Shaq.
- 48:35Shaq was the face of the league.
- 48:36Right.
- 48:37He had an album that sold out.
- 48:38He could do whatever he wanted.
- 48:39Yeah.
- 48:40He sold shoes.
- 48:41He's still operating at a high level as far as being Shaq, being a face.
- 48:47Shaq wasn't nice.
- 48:49Shaq threw people down.
- 48:50Shaq fouled people hard.
- 48:51He threw guards and the cameras.
- 48:53This is what big people do.
- 48:54Dude, I fucking love that.
- 48:55Yeah.
- 48:56I fucking love everything about that because you're saying there's some passion, there's
- 48:59some feelings to that, and it's also like he's annoyed.
- 49:04He's annoyed at these stupid fucks because I got some news for you.
- 49:08And here's the thing.
- 49:09TV knows this.
- 49:10Players are very annoyed.
- 49:12And yeah, we all hear the fucking narratives that are put out there.
- 49:16We can't.
- 49:17They can't help but see them.
- 49:18They can't help but hear them.
- 49:19They're shouting in their face nonstop.
- 49:21They're on television.
- 49:22They're on radio.
- 49:24They're on podcasts.
- 49:25Every lazy or even not lazy narrative about a player, that player has heard 90 million
- 49:31fucking times.
- 49:32And trust me, they are working on things not to hear your fucking narratives.
- 49:36They don't care about your narratives.
- 49:37They're doing a job.
- 49:38And that's the other thing.
- 49:39They're trying to just do a job.
- 49:41There is a guy that gives you a great perspective on what big men in the fucking game do.
- 49:47And since when does Wemby have to sit there with the humility of a young boy?
- 49:53And should he get on the ground and say, thank you, Mr. Bunsen.
- 49:57Thank you so much for not dunking near my direction.
- 50:00What the fuck is this?
- 50:01He's a competitor.
- 50:02He's going to talk his shit.
- 50:03That's what we fucking do.
- 50:04Tiki, that's what you fucking did.
- 50:08He is seven foot six.
- 50:11He is acting like he is seven foot six and entitled to the entire court and the rim itself
- 50:17because he is seven foot six.
- 50:19I don't want, first of all, Wemby is as humble already as a player needs to be.
- 50:26Yeah.
- 50:27Right.
- 50:28Like we, I actually don't, I'm any more humble and I'm tired.
- 50:31Get gritty, get piss, commit texts, do the thing that should.
- 50:35And then as you get older, hone your craft, do what these other great players do.
- 50:41By the way, Kobe, total asshole.
- 50:43Shaq, total asshole.
- 50:44Michael Jordan, total asshole.
- 50:46You guys all constantly talk about that competitive edge, mob mentality, but when a guy shows
- 50:53it, this guy's cocky and beats a bitch, Wemby's a cocky ass, uh, and he's too.
- 51:00He's not serious.
- 51:01Jason Tatum.
- 51:02He's boring.
- 51:03Brunson, too small.
- 51:04Exactly.
- 51:05What the fuck is it that you want from your NBA stars, this magical human you want to
- 51:10just because you all talk about Michael Jordan and Kobe, who are notoriously two of the biggest
- 51:15assholes in the history of the fucking league.
- 51:20You are all frauds.
- 51:22And I understand Iman Shumpert's frustration because that, you know, that's what I want.
- 51:28I want when, when you've got a talking head, who's trying to force a narrative that doesn't
- 51:31make sense.
- 51:32I want a former player to be like, no, absolutely not.
- 51:36Or to tell us why it makes sense.
- 51:38I do not need Tiki Barber's hot take of the day.
- 51:42I'm sorry.
- 51:43I, I'm, I really like, I say this lovingly, had a massive crush on you as a child.
- 51:49So by the way, I've met Tiki a few times.
- 51:53Tiki is one, by the way, we're, we're being a little hard on Tiki, but because we feel
- 51:56like it's deserved.
- 51:57Tiki is actually a sweetheart.
- 51:58So that's why I'm disappointed.
- 52:01That's why I'm disappointed.
- 52:02Cause I'm like, I just know, first of all, had a crush on you.
- 52:04Always thought you were quite handsome.
- 52:05Beautiful to look at.
- 52:06I want my beautiful to look at people on television to be talking about things that I want to
- 52:11hear.
- 52:12I believe, I believe in, in hot Tiki.
- 52:15I believe that he can do better.
- 52:17He still is hot.
- 52:18Yeah.
- 52:19And that's what I'm saying.
- 52:20Forget everything else.
- 52:21You are still a very attractive man.
- 52:22Incredibly hot.
- 52:23And also like has had moments of being a great analyst.
- 52:25And I feel like he's better than this.
- 52:28And I feel like someone like Amon Shumpert, who's worked his way through the podcast circuit,
- 52:32who's worked his way up into these spots to become this person who, by the way, is authentic
- 52:38is who he is.
- 52:39It doesn't code switch.
- 52:41It doesn't change who he is.
- 52:42This is who we've gotten just in a more polished form on these podcasts over the years.
- 52:49He built up, he built himself into this place and rather than getting on TV and turning
- 52:53into a shill, he is doing the exact thing he should be doing, which is doing a polished
- 52:58version of what he was providing to us on, on podcasts.
- 53:01And I admire that.
- 53:02I agree.
- 53:03It's good stuff.
- 53:04Listen, I just think this take in this, whatever this is, it's beneath Tiki.
- 53:12That's the thing.
- 53:13That's why I'm actually kind of annoyed by it because he's better than this.
- 53:17We're not saying because like when we get on here, we talk shit about Stephen A. Smith
- 53:20or whatever.
- 53:21We don't respect what they're doing.
- 53:22Yeah.
- 53:23I don't respect him.
- 53:24I actually respect Tiki.
- 53:25No.
- 53:26And, and Tiki's always had a really good reputation and I've never worked with him or I don't
- 53:29think I've ever even met him.
- 53:30I think I would remember, listen, I am.
- 53:33I am just a human.
- 53:34I am just a woman.
- 53:35I played a softball game with him and he made a sweet diving cat.
- 53:39I would love to see it.
- 53:40Okay.
- 53:41So good looking cat.
- 53:42You know, and so I'm, I, I not to objectify him because he was a great football player
- 53:46and also is a much better analyst than that take.
- 53:49So I'm just going to leave it there.
- 53:50Well, let's switch it over to our final segment of the show, pop culture corner, Tanya.
- 53:55What are we talking about tonight?
- 53:57Well with the Knicks on the verge of the NBA finals title, hopefully again, we have a couple
- 54:01more games of this.
- 54:03There's lots of discussion about celebrity fans.
- 54:07We saw a lot of really hyped celebrity fans last night, the most probably.
- 54:11So we had, we had the obvious ones.
- 54:13We had the Timmy Chalamet's and the, and Taylor Swift, Seinfeld, Stiller and Mariska Hargitay,
- 54:20you know, the usual suspects and of course the king of Knicks fans and maybe perhaps
- 54:26of sports fans, Spike Lee.
- 54:28So I was thinking like, I feel like this is a very big, well, that's what I'm, we're gonna
- 54:32talk about.
- 54:33This is a very big moment for like anytime a New York team or an LA team is in a finals,
- 54:38we're seeing a lot of celebrities.
- 54:40Let's talk about it.
- 54:43What if you had to, you know, choose and you don't have to pick one, maybe there's a couple,
- 54:46maybe there are people that jump out to you who are the most iconic sort of like you think
- 54:54of them and you know that they're a sports fan, most iconic celebrity sports fans of
- 54:58all time.
- 54:59I mean, this one's not iconic, but he's the one that, you know, is a sports fan.
- 55:03Jason Sudeikis.
- 55:04Okay.
- 55:05When I see Jason Sudeikis at an event, I know like he fucking loves this and then he was
- 55:10a former athlete in college and I think he, he really appreciates it quite a bit.
- 55:16When I think of certain baseball teams, I do think there's a sizable Kansas City contingent
- 55:21like John Hamms and the Paul Rudds that kind of always band together with Chiefs and Royals
- 55:25games.
- 55:27And what's his name from Modern Family as well?
- 55:29Herbstreet?
- 55:30Not Herbstreet.
- 55:31Stone Street.
- 55:32Eric Stonestreet.
- 55:33Eric Stonestreet.
- 55:34And then-
- 55:35And they're all big Chiefs fans as well.
- 55:36Big Chiefs fans.
- 55:38But yeah, it's hard not, but the thing where it gets the most play is always the two major
- 55:42cities, New York and LA.
- 55:44And I think New York's a little more in your face with it, especially with the Knicks games.
- 55:48I think LA-
- 55:49Well, they have a more authentic stadium fan base.
- 55:52I don't think that Knicks fans are like more authentic fans than-
- 55:55No, no.
- 55:56I agree.
- 55:57As far as in the arena, the Lakers arena and experience, even in a final situation, is
- 56:03not the same as the Knicks.
- 56:04I would agree with that.
- 56:05I would absolutely agree with that.
- 56:06Just because we do, this is a city of transplants, people who have a lot of money who are going
- 56:10to these games and showing up.
- 56:12There's a more, there's maybe a more authentic feeling.
- 56:15But there, I would, you know, I'll say this for Lakers representation.
- 56:20I grew up associating, like before I even really knew what kind of an actor he was,
- 56:26Jack Nicholson was a Lakers fan.
- 56:28Jack Nicholson at Lakers games, Spike Lee at Knicks games felt like this pinnacle.
- 56:35They were staples, man.
- 56:36They were staples.
- 56:37And so-
- 56:38Until Jack unfortunately aged out and kind of doesn't go out anymore.
- 56:40Yeah, he doesn't, he's not there anymore.
- 56:42But like to me, he's still like there.
- 56:43Like that's, that he made his stamp, like for how famous he was, both of those are like
- 56:49extremely prestigious film people, obviously a director and an actor.
- 56:54And they sort of, their fandom was like inarguable, right?
- 57:00These are not bandwagon.
- 57:01These are not people showing up.
- 57:02No, that's what they do.
- 57:03You know, they're there.
- 57:04Hardcore.
- 57:05It was a part of their identity, specifically for, I think, I give the edge to Spike Lee
- 57:10because New York is such a big part of his films.
- 57:14It is.
- 57:15It is.
- 57:16Do the right thing.
- 57:17I mean, shoe culture is a big part of his films.
- 57:19The Nike commercials he did through the 90s with his character Mars that he had from the
- 57:23movie.
- 57:24God, it's my favorite Spike Lee movie.
- 57:26It's wrong with me.
- 57:27She's got to have it.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:29Yeah, no.
- 57:31I would honestly say if we're going to really pick one person as a fan of the Knicks, I'd
- 57:34say of the celebrity.
- 57:36Number one is Spike Lee.
- 57:37Unquestionably.
- 57:38If I'm going to do a celebrity for the Lakers, number one is Jack Nicholson.
- 57:41Unquestionably.
- 57:42Philadelphia has some good famous sports fans as well.
- 57:45I mean, Bradley Cooper is genuinely a hardcore Philly fan.
- 57:48Big time.
- 57:49Hardcore Philly sports fan.
- 57:51And Boston has a lot of a lot of famous, you got the Damon's, so many famous people out
- 57:57of Boston.
- 57:58So I'll tell you this.
- 57:59When I met Matt Damon and Ben Affleck on the set of The Rip, me and Matt talked for like
- 58:0230 minutes.
- 58:03He was wearing this coat, this big old coat that had a bunch of sewn on that he sewed
- 58:07on patches of like every like Boston sports anything.
- 58:11And it was just covered in them.
- 58:13And I thought that was really kind of cool.
- 58:14It was just something he's just passionate about.
- 58:16No, they are.
- 58:17They're not like fake fans like they're real.
- 58:19When you see them, like when they did those like dunking commercials with Tom Brady or
- 58:22when they could ever like, they'll like do the they'll invite those things and then they'll
- 58:26go on like someone's podcast and be like, bro, I got to throw the ball with Tom Brady.
- 58:30Like they like freak out.
- 58:31They're fucking fans.
- 58:32Like they lose their minds.
- 58:34I will say neither one of them is my top Boston sports fan celebrity.
- 58:39OK, let me let me try to think who the Boston celebrity would be then.
- 58:43I don't know.
- 58:44I know it's Bill Simmons.
- 58:45No, I know you love Bill.
- 58:47I don't think you're going to get this one because it's Boston celebrity because there's
- 58:51a lot of them, though.
- 58:52So there's a ton.
- 58:53There's a ton of Boston.
- 58:54That was going to be one of my guesses, but there's no universe.
- 58:58I think you picked John Krasinski, so like Elizabeth Banks, there's all these people
- 59:02that are from the area.
- 59:04But there's I get a hint, but you can.
- 59:07He is.
- 59:08He.
- 59:09OK, it's a he.
- 59:10A person.
- 59:11Yeah.
- 59:12And you don't like his brother.
- 59:15Oh, for fuck's sake, I actually love Donnie.
- 59:18Well, yeah, I would like to take that back because Mark Wahlberg sucks famously could
- 59:23have stopped 9-11.
- 59:24His words, not mine.
- 59:27And yeah.
- 59:28Yeah.
- 59:29Donnie Wahlberg.
- 59:30I love me some Donnie.
- 59:31Donnie.
- 59:32Donnie.
- 59:33And he's sort of that, like because he's a like you, right?
- 59:34So I know he's a big Celtics guy.
- 59:36He's a big everything.
- 59:37OK, I didn't know that all Boston sports as Celtics is his big thing.
- 59:41But the thing about Donny is like he is sort of the like, you know, he's always on some,
- 59:46you know, TV show or whatever else, but he's always the one that's voicing stuff over and
- 59:50doing stuff with the local teams.
- 59:51And he's still very Boston centric, whereas Mark is just Los Angeles at this point.
- 59:55But like that's that's the guy he lead.
- 59:57The passion is real, like really beautiful stories about becoming a fan and like with
- 1:00:01his dad and whatever.
- 1:00:02So, yeah, where I think if I had to pick for boss for Boston specifically, it's Donnie
- 1:00:07Wahlberg.
- 1:00:08He's on more likely Jack Nicholson in terms of his fame.
- 1:00:12But in terms of like, you know, his he's done, I mean, yeah, he's done really good.
- 1:00:19I understand.
- 1:00:20I know Mark's made more money, but Donnie's made some money.
- 1:00:24He's got that.
- 1:00:25He's got that blue blood's money because that went like 10 seasons.
- 1:00:27He's also now he's got a spinoff show.
- 1:00:29I mean, he's new kids on the block, new kids on the block.
- 1:00:31Like he's a new kid on the block is not too shabby.
- 1:00:34So, you know, we've got to give him credit.
- 1:00:36If you're ever at Boston Logan Airport, Wahlburgers is the best place to get a burger.
- 1:00:40I refuse just because I don't like putting any money in Mark's pocket, but it is actually
- 1:00:44a decent burger.
- 1:00:45I refuse to put money in Mark Wahlberg's pocket.
- 1:00:49We had a couple of suggestions from my Instagram.
- 1:00:52I put out a prompt to see if anybody had any suggestions and we had.
- 1:00:57So this one I did know about and I forgot Elton John and Watford, which is an English
- 1:01:02primarily team.
- 1:01:04There's even their stories about that one.
- 1:01:06What do you mean?
- 1:01:07So, you know, every soccer thing has like a song about it.
- 1:01:10So Wofford fans sang a song specifically about Elton John.
- 1:01:14Oh, wow.
- 1:01:15It is one.
- 1:01:16This is before the internet.
- 1:01:17Yeah.
- 1:01:18How did they get these intricate lyrics and it was all before like Elton John was openly
- 1:01:23out.
- 1:01:24Yeah.
- 1:01:25And it was about him being a gay homosexual.
- 1:01:28There's a strong there's a strong argument that English Premier League fans and or soccer
- 1:01:33fans in general and their chants are like are like prescient because you're right.
- 1:01:38I don't they will make them up by the way.
- 1:01:40Like a new story will come out the next day.
- 1:01:43There will be a four verse song that the whole I'm like, where did you proliferate this?
- 1:01:49How did you?
- 1:01:50They're harmonizing.
- 1:01:51It's nuts.
- 1:01:53Fucking batshit.
- 1:01:54It's really nice.
- 1:01:55Does this by the way, I think it's a little out of sight out of mind for us because I
- 1:01:58don't think we are as in tune to what's going on in like Japan.
- 1:02:00Japan same exact thing.
- 1:02:01Yeah.
- 1:02:02In baseball.
- 1:02:03They have a song for every fucking hitter that comes to the plate.
- 1:02:06They sing it throughout the it's fucking wild.
- 1:02:08And now but do they do the thing that the Premier League fans or the English fans do
- 1:02:11where they like something happens the night before and somehow they have a full song ready
- 1:02:15to go the day of that.
- 1:02:16I don't know.
- 1:02:17It's like that.
- 1:02:18I'm like, they're like, he just got arrested.
- 1:02:20We did it now.
- 1:02:21How did you?
- 1:02:22And why are you all?
- 1:02:23How do you know the lyrics already?
- 1:02:25He hired a divorce attorney.
- 1:02:28His name is John Paul.
- 1:02:29How do you know my divorce attorney?
- 1:02:30I hired him an hour ago.
- 1:02:31It's so funny.
- 1:02:32Okay.
- 1:02:33I love this.
- 1:02:34We got Jack Nicholson, Spike Lee, Ashley Judd for Kentucky basketball.
- 1:02:35Ashley Judd is a huge.
- 1:02:36She is a huge Kentucky basketball fan.
- 1:02:37Yeah.
- 1:02:38Yeah.
- 1:02:39Yeah.
- 1:02:40No, that is this.
- 1:02:41She is like a very notable sports fan.
- 1:02:42Yeah.
- 1:02:43Yeah.
- 1:02:44This is like this is not a like a deep cut.
- 1:02:45Yeah.
- 1:02:46Well, you know, you got Ashley Judd this episode.
- 1:02:47I got Tiki.
- 1:02:48Yeah.
- 1:02:49Yep.
- 1:02:50So double jeopardy.
- 1:02:51Double jeopardy.
- 1:02:52Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:53That's classic.
- 1:02:54Chef's kiss.
- 1:02:55And the spider one with, um, with, uh, along came a spider, which I was actually dead
- 1:02:56as well.
- 1:02:57Right?
- 1:02:58Yeah.
- 1:02:59By the way, I just, Chris and I were like, Oh my God.
- 1:03:00Oh my God.
- 1:03:01Oh my God.
- 1:03:02Oh my God.
- 1:03:03Oh my God.
- 1:03:04Oh my God.
- 1:03:05Oh my God.
- 1:03:06Oh my God.
- 1:03:07Oh my God.
- 1:03:08Oh my God.
- 1:03:09Oh my God.
- 1:03:10Oh my God.
- 1:03:11Oh my God.
- 1:03:12Oh my God.
- 1:03:13Oh my God.
- 1:03:15Oh my God.
- 1:03:16So Chris and I were just watching a movie where, so I was googling how old Morgan Freeman
- 1:03:18was.
- 1:03:19He is 90 years old.
- 1:03:20He is very old.
- 1:03:21In fact, my favorite thing about Morgan Freeman is none of his award winning work.
- 1:03:24My favorite thing he ever did was the Electric Company in the 1970s.
- 1:03:26Okay, well, in case you don't know what the Electric Company was, it was a children's
- 1:03:30television show.
- 1:03:31He played just one of the cast members of the show.
- 1:03:33And they always did these live action Spider-Man shorts and they were fucking terrible.
- 1:03:40And if you would have told me that that guy right there was going to be one of our greatest
- 1:03:43actors of all time who narrates everything, I would have said, you're fucking nuts.
- 1:03:48But I love Morgan Freeman more than I love most deceased family members.
- 1:03:51Okay, fair enough.
- 1:03:52And you know what?
- 1:03:53I'm glad he's still alive at 90 because I looked up how old he was and I was like, Jesus,
- 1:03:57I didn't.
- 1:03:58He's been older whole lives.
- 1:04:01You know, like he's been, he's always been exactly the same.
- 1:04:02Yeah.
- 1:04:03So I think who else has been?
- 1:04:04Steve Martin's been exactly the same.
- 1:04:05Exactly.
- 1:04:06Like, like they're ageless in that way.
- 1:04:10Because we were born in the 80s, grew up in the 90s and early 2000s.
- 1:04:13If they were already had gray hair then and they have gray hair now, they're the same
- 1:04:16age.
- 1:04:17Yeah.
- 1:04:18There's always been that thing.
- 1:04:19So in that way, specifically, Morgan Freeman's been old and young this entire time.
- 1:04:23Exactly.
- 1:04:24But my friend Andy Dufresne walked through a mile of shit.
- 1:04:30Thank you.
- 1:04:31I appreciate that.
- 1:04:32Fucking love the show.
- 1:04:33All right.
- 1:04:34So did we land?
- 1:04:35Did we decide on the official?
- 1:04:36I think, I think I'm going to say Spike.
- 1:04:38But you can, if you have, I'm going to give you a spike for now because I don't feel because
- 1:04:44I feel because Anthony Kiedis is such a Dodger guy.
- 1:04:48What's the drummer's name?
- 1:04:49What's my, uh, for Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- 1:04:52He's an all LA sports guy, but I don't think he's, he's not the face of the Red Hot Chili
- 1:04:56Peppers.
- 1:04:57So I don't think I can give.
- 1:04:58Yeah.
- 1:04:59Chad Smith.
- 1:05:00Chad.
- 1:05:01Obviously we all know looks identical to Will Ferrell.
- 1:05:02They've been doing a long, long ongoing bit about that.
- 1:05:05Great.
- 1:05:06Chad Smith is actually way up there.
- 1:05:09He's at every sporting event in LA, but the lexicon of comparing it to Jack Nicholson,
- 1:05:14specifically just, there are a lot of good Dodger fans, but if based on the context you're
- 1:05:18giving me and I'm going to give it to Spike and here's why I haven't seen Jack in a long
- 1:05:23time.
- 1:05:24And that's why if Jack was still going, Jack wins this battle, but Spike's been there every
- 1:05:30day and making movies that are odes and love letters to not only New York, but, but like
- 1:05:36you said, adding the sports movie, black Klansman.
- 1:05:39No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:05:41He made a movie last year with Denzel, um, highest, lowest, Oh, I didn't know he made
- 1:05:46that.
- 1:05:47I didn't see it.
- 1:05:48Isn't he good?
- 1:05:49I haven't seen it.
- 1:05:50Oh shit.
- 1:05:51I got to check it out.
- 1:05:52Um, I fucking, I fucking love a Spike Lee joint by the way.
- 1:05:53I just watched man on fire again for the first time and like Tony Scott rest in peace.
- 1:05:58I like, I had, I had not seen it to the, I don't know if I had ever seen it like fully
- 1:06:03through, but it came out when we were at like in high school.
- 1:06:07Yeah.
- 1:06:08And so I don't remember ever actually fully seeing it.
- 1:06:09And Denzel's my favorite actor.
- 1:06:10And I was like, but I had been putting it off because I knew it was emotional.
- 1:06:12Like I'm not big.
- 1:06:13I really can't just like sit down and watch kid gets kidnapped.
- 1:06:18By the way.
- 1:06:19I love the equalizer, but I have a problem with equalizer.
- 1:06:21It's just a worse man on fire.
- 1:06:22Oh, this is like man on fire, but like so much worse.
- 1:06:27I mean, it's like Tony Scott, like in full Tony Scott, it's way over stylized by the
- 1:06:33way.
- 1:06:34I'm sure we'll make an argument.
- 1:06:35That movie set a bad precedent for Hollywood because everyone tried to make the exact same
- 1:06:39type of movie.
- 1:06:40And it was like, it was like, Hey, I don't know that I needed all this even specifically
- 1:06:42from Tony Scott, but I definitely don't need it.
- 1:06:44Don't need it from you.
- 1:06:45Um, but like it works because Denzel's Denzel and Dakota Fanning was Dakota Fanning and
- 1:06:48like they're, they were fucking perfect.
- 1:06:51But there was a couple of parts where I was like, Tony, you have got to tone down the
- 1:06:54Tony.
- 1:06:55You've got to tone it down.
- 1:06:56It wasn't Tony.
- 1:06:57Tony wasn't toning down.
- 1:06:58Tony back then.
- 1:06:59That was, that was Tony feeling his heights.
- 1:07:01Coked up and Tony's like, and then we're going to do every fucking shot, every shot.
- 1:07:08There's gonna be a jet fighter.
- 1:07:10Why is there a jet fighter?
- 1:07:11Don't fucking worry about it.
- 1:07:13I don't know if that's how Tony Scott spoke.
- 1:07:16Rest in peace.
- 1:07:17You are amazing director.
- 1:07:18Yeah.
- 1:07:19We miss you forever.
- 1:07:20Um, all right.
- 1:07:21Well, you did it.
- 1:07:22We, um, we got to clear out of here soon.
- 1:07:23We got, there's, there's plans by the pool.
- 1:07:24Yep.
- 1:07:25Things need to be done.
- 1:07:26People are renting the space.
- 1:07:27We must skid.
- 1:07:28We got to let them use the Oasis.
- 1:07:30Uh, great show.
- 1:07:31Excellent.
- 1:07:32Talking about with you by the time we talk to you next on Monday.
- 1:07:35So wait, when is, when is games four and game five will be on Saturday?
- 1:07:41Okay.
- 1:07:42So we would be gearing up for gay.
- 1:07:44We would be gearing up for game six.
- 1:07:45If so, we'll either be talking about the Knicks being title winners or we'll be preparing
- 1:07:49for game six.
- 1:07:50Either way.
- 1:07:51I'm hoping for game six.
- 1:07:52I'm also hoping for game six.
- 1:07:53Yeah.
- 1:07:54I don't want this to end.
- 1:07:55I mean this one.
- 1:07:56I don't know.
- 1:07:57I'm not ready for it to end either.
- 1:07:58Once this is over, it's the worst part of the baseball season.
- 1:08:03It's the worst part of the sports calendar and I get a little depressed, but you know
- 1:08:07what?
- 1:08:08We got, we got an all-star week coming up.
- 1:08:10That's always phenomenal.
- 1:08:11We got all-star week and we got, and we can also start transitioning into some of the
- 1:08:14WNBA stuff, which has been interesting.
- 1:08:16We have world cup, world cup could be fun.
- 1:08:18Please guys, please guys get into the world cup.
- 1:08:20It's fun.
- 1:08:21We're going to make it fun for you.
- 1:08:22Okay.
- 1:08:23Like just a little, we're going to watch some games.
- 1:08:24We're going to get into it.
- 1:08:25Um, and yeah, uh, I think that's it.
- 1:08:27We don't have time to talk about, we did talk about the 2004 Red Sox today.
- 1:08:30We did, but we couldn't talk about the fucking bloody sock.
- 1:08:32You know why?
- 1:08:33Everybody thought we were about to.
- 1:08:34But you know why?
- 1:08:35Yeah.
- 1:08:36Because in the lexicon of the 2004 Boston Red Sox, all of those things happened except
- 1:08:43for that.
- 1:08:44So we don't need to talk about it.
- 1:08:45The bloody sock?
- 1:08:46We don't need to talk about it.
- 1:08:47You don't think the bloody sock, yeah, again, you're still, you're standing on business
- 1:08:49that the bloody sock was not real.
- 1:08:51Fuck her chilling.
- 1:08:52Fuck her chilling.
