[upbeat rock music] Uh, let's take that down a little bit, folks.
0:17
It's Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 100, 193. One ninety-three. Seven more and we can decide whether we ever wanna do this again. [laughs] Party, party, party. Party, party. Party for number 200? I dunno.
0:34
That's gonna be in February- Ooh... ruary, sometime probably. Might be fun. Yeah.
0:40
Once we move out of this place, this leaky ass s- shop, we can start doing derbies in here and just tear around in here until they kick us out. Open the front door, open the back door.
0:52
I think you've stuck enough money into the place- Do a, do a-... they should let you hang out for a while... [laughs] do a der- We could probably get, like, a 30-person derby going in here, I bet. And to...
0:59
Yeah, without... And we don't have to do the funky town to get in. Do-di-do-bo-be-boop. [laughs] Be-be-be-be-be funky town. Yeah, that was a bad idea. Funky town. Apparently people were not locking the...
1:11
Just a couple times the door was unlocked and nobody was here, and so now it- Door locking...
1:15
now it locks itself after 30 seconds, which is not so great for people trying to come in that we don't know, but we'll figure something out. We're gonna have to get a different lock, I think. Holy cripes on a...
1:28
It's raining outside today. Mm-hmm. You know what I'm wishing for? Like peace and- Snow... carrots. Yes, because then the l- the stupid roof wouldn't leak. 'Cause it'd be- Well, until it starts to- 'Cause it'd be frozen.
1:39
[laughs] Yeah, and then it thaws and it'll leak more. Well, the th- Okay, I get that water comes in here.
1:43
It's an old, old, old factory, but I thought I knew where all the water came from and had kind of made allowances for it. There was a new one today, so. Mm.
1:52
And also, uh, Jason with the light- the lighting company down the way there, he found a new leak, too, so. It's... It was pouring today. Yeah, we're kinda rained all day. I didn't look at my house.
2:03
A beautiful day out, though. Yeah, weather-wise, considering it's December. Yeah, it was super nice out, 40 degrees or something. Yeah. I'll take that, or I'll take a little water in the shop.
2:12
Hey, everybody, gi- give ol- give old, uh, Greg at Everyday Cycles a, a note if you wanna get deals on something because we... [laughs] we, we need to reduce- We'd rather move it...
2:22
we may need to reduce some- We'd rather sell it than move it... inventory really quickly. I dunno. We'll find out a little bit later in the month the true scope of what maybe will happen or may not, but
2:32
until then, we're making some deals, damn it. Um, koozie. You got- Deals to be had... koozie in a box over there. Koozie in a box. Get a bike, get a bike, get a bike- Oh, we did... get a bike, get a bike...
2:43
we, we did get... We did get a bike down the road today. Mr. Zon came in and picked up one of the Wu-Tang... I thought he was going for the yellow clunker. He went... He w- he wanted the single-speed.
2:52
I'm like, "Oh, cool." The road one? Yeah. He- Oh, nice... well, he's gonna use it on his trainer in the winter, and then it's gonna be kind of- Well, it's perfect for that...
2:59
it's gonna be a second friend bike in the summer for anybody that just needs a beater f- to get around to the, the local pubbery or- It's not a beater. It's a Wu-Tang.
3:08
It'll be a beater by then after being on a trainer all freaking winter. [laughs] Well, it needs some wheel truing, for sure.
3:12
Oh, you're gonna have to get one of those sweat stoppy things that keeps your, you know, steel from rusting- Mm-hmm... when you keep dripping all over it. Mm. I have actually seen a couple of frames like that.
3:22
It's pretty gross. Yeah, right? If there... Yeah, 'cause yeah, 'cause uh-huh. You know, it's not a new frame, though. It's not gonna eat through fresh paint.
3:30
It's, you know, someone's put a, a bike they ride on the trainer, and then after the winter it's like, oh God. [bell rings] Whoa, wow, we got there quickly. Well- Top of the hill... maybe- I barely broke a sweat...
3:40
maybe it's 'cause JK got here at the top of the hill when we started the show, so. Yep, yep, yep. Uh- I'm sorry... meaning that also he brought the beer [bottle opens] today, which was nice of JK.
3:51
Apparently, this was a... Was this an $8 pole from Otto's? Yep, yep. I told them, "Man"- Oh... "every so often"- What do you mean $8 pole? Just you showed up and it was eight bucks, or you pulled something and- Yeah.
4:00
No, I just looked and I was like, "Okay, what do I want? What do we ha- What do we... What have we had that... What is here that we have not had?" Oh, sorry. Or something of that nature. And what do we have here?
4:11
Well- It is Great Lakes Brewing Company, which I'm not even sure from where. Somewhere on the lakes. Somewhere around the Great Lakes. A Hazy IPA. Cleveland, O- HIZ-IO is what it says- Yeah... on the box. Oh. Cleveland.
4:24
2516 Market Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. There you go. I dunno if that's a brewery, a brew pub, or a place where they just, uh, store the stuff, but- I feel like I've had some- we've had something from this- Yeah... before.
4:33
I, I remember the name. This is fizzy. Haze Craft IPA, juicy, tropical, and hazy. Many of the buzzwords of the brewer market these days- Right... are included- Yeah... in that title. Is it yours? 6.7. Fizzy? Yeah.
4:47
Well, I was also- I think it's tasty as sh- schnizz- it whizzles... it also was bouncing around in my bag for a, a half mile from here- Oh... from hitherto yon. Yeah.
4:57
[clears throat] But apart from that, yeah, juicy, tropical, yada, yada, yada. There was a little descriptor thing in here. It's got a... Yeah. It's got a really- 3, 2, 1, we have haze,
5:08
a cloudy cosmos of Azacca, Lemon Drop, and Simcoe hops. Oh, wait, it's exploration. Maybe it's the label. Oh, that Simcoe gets... That Simcoe weasels its way into a lotta beers. Yeah. It's good, it's good hop. Yeah.
5:19
It's a good beer. I, I don't mind it at all. I'll drink another one since we have six of them and only three people. Right, right. Yeah. Usually how it works.
5:25
I- Looking through the coolers it was, like, 7.48 marked down, and I'm like, "Shit, why not? Whatever."
5:31
I, I do need to apologize be- 'cause apparently I forgot to push the button last week or did something where I, I didn't get the [laughs] show didn't go up on Friday- I noticed that delay-... like normal...
5:39
[laughs] noticed that the other day. I'm like, "Oh, didn't even notice that." Well, if you notice it's not up, send me a note and I'll go why the, why... And I look to, to this, to- Well, I thought there was a...
5:46
I dunno. Really- He was too busy enjoying Dr. Sushi... I- Well, usually- [laughs] Yeah. Right? On, on a Tuesday morning, well, yeah, so anyway- I was listening to Santa Bautista, thank you...
5:55
it went, it, it, it's up there now, folks, the 192. That's the, uh, Santa Rampage Return of Tony edition, et cetera, et cetera. And, uh- We don't have to talk about all that again...
6:04
you could probably listen to- That's what I kept thinking. I'm like-... to-... "Oh, man, we have to [laughs] cover this shit again?" No[laughs] Yeah, we could do that. [laughs] But we don't have to. Right.
6:13
Um, we could... Oh, here, so by the way, we got, uh, Tony to my left. Oh, yeah. And we got JK with his chapeau- Ha, ha, ha... uh, directly across from me. Ha, ha, ha.
6:24
To- t- today, the day that we record the show, folks, two days ago in, in internet time, uh, his countrymen are, uh, in the blue- France... going to the World Cup footy final. Mm-hmm. I, um- Trying to defend the crown.
6:38
I happened to, uh, be in Paris one year when France was not supposed to do very well, and yet advanced to the finals. And I had just gotten back from cognac,
6:52
and my wife, girlfriend at the time, decided to go out for dinner, and the staff would be working as diligently as French chef do until France got the ball, then they'd freeze in place, staring at the monitor.
7:08
[laughs] And as soon as France would lose the ball, go right back like clockwork. Nice. Well- It's almost like a dance with a, with a stoppy thing in it. Yeah. Yep.
7:17
Molly and I ended up going back to our hotel, falling asleep, and all of a sudden the whole town erupted, and Molly's like, "What's going on?" I'm like, "I think France just won the World Cup."
7:26
[laughs] That would've been a while back. Uh, 2000? Yeah, maybe. 'Cause I, I don't follow the dates that closely, but they- 2018... they did, they did won the, they did won the previous one. [laughs] Yeah, yeah.
7:37
Um, so they're going for a twofer, but in deference to Romina, we'll say let's cheer for Argentina too, 'cause it's Lionel Messi's likely last- Yeah... World Cup. Yeah. Right, right, right.
7:46
And gosh darn it- She said Argenti-... it's, it's really fun watching that guy play. [laughs] Yeah. Um, but- Mbappé. Mb- Mbappé. Mbappé from El Franceland. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Is that wrong? Wrong?
7:58
He, well, he, he played two positions today. [laughs] I know he had an assist. Uh, he may have had a goal. I don't know. Well, and he wind on the, you know, and so he got tackled and- Right... like, right there.
8:06
That's, uh, half the fun of watching those games, is the fake injuries. Oh, yeah. "Oh, he, he tripped me." Well, like the- "I'm gonna wind back" So when, when, when, uh-... "roll back and forth"...
8:16
when Pulisic from the USA scored his goal and ran into the goalie, you know that wasn't faking anything- No... 'cause those guys smashed together. But of course there, USA did not make it a- as far as France. Uh-huh.
8:31
So- Oh, and I would've had no problem with Morocco beating France either. Well, Morocco, Croatia tomorrow, and, uh, France and Argentina on Sunday, folks. If you are into that stuff, check your local Fox affiliate.
8:44
You're in Milwaukee, go to The Nomad. And you can watch it for frees. Stand on the- Yeah. [laughs] You stand on the sidewalk- Well-... and watch... yeah... you don't have to talk to people...
8:52
they made this public So they're 9:00 AM games, though. Ah, yes, that is true. I don't, uh, I'm not gonna go to Nomad- Well, it's a Packer-... at 9:00 AM. It's a Packer bye week, so. No, that was last week.
9:02
Or, I mean, uh, no, no, it's a Monday night game. It's a Mon- it's a month. Monday night football, yeah. Hey, what did you do when there, that bye week was going on, Greg? I- I do think that, uh-... sanded some floors.
9:12
Is that what I did? The first- I think that's what you did. [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] It's pretty much my whole weekend. For, for two straight weeks. Oh, gosh. It, but golly, I, I always say- Golly...
9:20
I always say floor sanding is one of the most rewarding jobs, because you go into a place, especially one with 108-year-old floors and eight dogs having lived in it, and you go, "Boy, these are pretty trashed."
9:31
And then you spend two days and, uh, you go- They ain't trashed... "Holy crap, does that look awesome." I was absolutely flabbergasted. Beautiful maple.
9:42
I mean, th- this, these are, this is gonna be- Some are 15 feet across, single board. Yeah. It's almost gonna make you wanna get rid of that paneling in there now and just tits it out really good. We'll see.
9:52
[laughs] I, I wanna live in it for a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like you haven't spent a bunch of time on it already, but- Yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's gonna be, it's gonna be awesome.
10:01
We'll, I guess we'll get some pictures. I got some of it up to this, when we s- did the final sanding, so. I went to the mall- I was-... on the bye week Sunday. Of America? No, the South Ridge. Whoa.
10:12
Oh, that thing is- Shop local, man... that thing is still operational down there? What did you do there? Is it still an inside mall? Yeah. Wow. Are there mall walkers? Like, kinda, yeah. I mean, not the...
10:24
There ain't no a- arcade no more. Oh, okay. Damn it. [laughs] All my good stuff is gone. Right. But- There's no, uh, food court, or is there a food court? Oh, the food courts are there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't- Oh...
10:37
you can't avoid that one. That's- No Aladdin's Castle? No. No Aladdin's Castle. Or, and, or which turned into Sega's Time Out, which turned, no. Yeah. None. None of it. None of that. No, no.
10:46
Now they have a bowling alley/arcade, but it's, like, a Dave & Buster's type thing I'm thinking. Oh, yeah. Oh. But they still have some gaming going on. Yeah, I guess so. I never walked in there.
10:56
I can't remember where it was, but I w- it was, wasn't in... Maybe it was at Mayfair. I don't know if it was even in Milwaukee, but there was a place that had
11:05
a RC racetrack inside in the mall, and I'm like, "That's really a cool idea." Wow. Oh. I love RC car racing and truck racing and doing all sorts of stuff.
11:14
And, um, you could rent the cars by the hour and stuff, and there was people playing in there, but it didn't last more than maybe, might've lasted two years. And I'm like- Yeah...
11:23
apparently people don't like- Guys are all like the-... playing with fun shit now- Yeah... that they can do their video game crap or something. Right. I don't know. Uh, but yeah, anyway, um,
11:34
speaking of how fizzy that is. Right? Yeah. Excuse me. It is a little fizzy. Please and thank you. 40 IBUs, maybe that's the- It's not so bitter... I don't have any. It's not so bitter. I, I, I like it. Bitter? Bitter.
11:51
I'd, I'd probably drink it again. There are a s- a few beers that are just, like, super gassy. Yeah. There sure are. Comes with recommended glassware. [laughs] You get a recommended glass? What kind of glass?
12:02
I don't know, whatever that looks like. It's where they're recommending, like, an open pint glass. Oh. With the little- I li- I do like those glasses...
12:07
with the little- Yeah, the little- With the little hip on it- Yeah... that you can kinda grip the hip kinda thing... exactly. That's what that's for It pairs well with grilled vegetables Fuck that...
12:18
citrus marinades- Speaking of vegetables, I had some- And stargazing... Brussels sprouts today And stargazing. Come on, star hustlers.
12:27
[laughs] Now the dude's gonna come walking down the rings of Saturn Does he still- Oh, he's a dead man I know he's dead, but is it still on?
12:33
[laughs] Because those were awesome Uh, something of that nature, but it's, like, two younger guys Yeah.
12:39
Well, my, uh, my dad was a big stargazer his own self and built his own telescopes up to, like, maybe a 10-inch mirror or something, so they were pretty decent. And, uh,
12:49
I learned some from him, but I might've learned more from the Stargazer. Mm-hmm I'm not, I'm not positive In a Memorex wooly jacket maybe And also, if you- [laughs] In fashion...
12:56
I don't know if they have it for your fancy droid phones, but they do have a, a, a, an app called Star Walk 2 now on the IP hone, which you can just hold it up anywhere and look at the sky and it'll show you what you're looking at.
13:10
Yeah It's like there's- That's, that's existed on the droid forever... there's Solarium. Well, it's been around forever.
13:14
There's s- there's Saturn, there's Jupiter Stellarium Solarium Probably the same idea You know, speaking of IP hones- But you can just move it around and stuff Speaking of IP hones- Is that why you quit your job?
13:25
'Cause you hate them so much?... Friday I get to give up- [laughs]... my IP hone and won't have to have another one I can't believe you're such a sap about that crap I'm so excited. And no more automatic.
13:40
No more automatic IP hone Oh, on the company vehicle? Yeah Saturn is right, see- Now my company vehicle-... right behind you Yeah.
13:47
It's usually back there somewhere about this time of night My, uh, my- Is Jupiter over there too somewhere probably? Vega over that way Yeah.
13:53
Yeah You know, in your whatever My, uh, my vehicle- You know what's cool is you can even see through the clouds when you have this app on your phone Yeah, it is pretty- You don't even, you don't even have to [laughs] I'm sitting in the Belt of Orion.
14:03
[laughs] I have seen- I've seen- The things-... attacks... the things I've seen with my eyes Attack ships on fire Is that the- I've seen moon beams... is that the Shoulder of Orion? Wait, I don't know.
14:14
Uh, no "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe." Yeah. Attack ships on fire. Off the shores of Orion That's- Shoulders Shoulders of Orion Maybe I've seen moon rays That was a Jeopardy!
14:24
question today as a matter of fact Glitter in the nose and 10,000 skate. But all those moments- Will be gone... will be lost in- The-... time The, uh- Like tears in rain The rain. Rain.
14:41
Time to die. Uh, I just- The, the original- Come on, Rutger Hauer, folks. There he is Yeah... he's on the show tonight.
14:47
Thank you very much It was raining so hard that he actually shortened that [laughs] whole entire part. It was on Jeopardy! tonight. I'm like- Oh, that's funny... wow. Really? Yeah. He, he- That was on Jeopardy! tonight?
14:59
Yeah, today, just now, right before I came here- What, what, what kind of uni-... that was a Jeopardy! question... what kind of universe are we in? They're spying on us, man. I know, totally.
15:06
I know that my phone listens to me. I know that too, because Molly had to get her dad a new Jitterbug 'cause he's an old man, and- [laughs] The Jitterbug... fucking suddenly in my- Bring the ham down into my heart...
15:17
feed, our Jitterbug phones. I'm like, "I mentioned nothing about this." You're the one that wants an Android, not a- I know, I know... not a, not a locked down ecosystem like- They're all listening to you.
15:27
You just think they aren't [laughs] Okay, so have you heard about OpenAI? I mean, there's a lot of things that will write for you if you give them a subject, but a lot of them are like Google's or...
15:40
Yeah, there's a bunch of them that are kind of being held close to the vest, but this OpenAI thing.
15:45
I, and I was like, so for stuff like websites like we do where we write cool stuff about stuff, are those gonna take over? I mean, like, obviously not because the experience of the person does mean something.
15:57
But they, one of the re- one of the examples they had was they asked it to write a press release for a school shooting, and they asked it to do it as a Democrat, a Republican, a far left, and a far right.
16:12
So four different versions of a press release if you were of that ilk. And they're like, "Goddang, if it wasn't pretty close- It's pretty good... on that stuff." Yeah. Yeah.
16:21
And then they're like, "Well, it's probably because there's been so many mass shootings that all the- Well, they can compile all the data... press releases have always been written."
16:28
Which is what they do, they scrape the web and they- Thoughts and prayers. Thoughts and prayers Yeah. So we're... Yeah. It's a tragedy.
16:35
I- I mean, uh, you can't, you can't hardly swing a dead cat without hitting a newspaper story about a school shooting True. Where's... All you need is Winegail from- See-...
16:45
Nacho Bone Killers It, it- Live interview Winegail, Mickey, Mallory Knox.
16:53
[laughs] That, that, you know, speaking of, you know, right versus left and all that jazz, my, uh, my son Daniel was very excited to bring Cleone a delivery that came in the mail, and
17:05
I, uh, so- Was it a ma- was it a MAGA hat? No. [laughs] No, it, it's better. Um, so- MARA hat? Cleone- Make, Make America Rage Again... Cleone came out with the absolute most inappropriate skirt ever. It's just,
17:24
it, it's just nothing. And I'm like, "Come on, you gotta be kidding me." And then I looked at her and I'm like, "Are you taking that to Burger Christmas?" And she's like, "Yep." Burger Christmas.
17:35
Burger Christmas [laughs] She's like, "Yep." I'm like, "Okay, I approve." [laughs] It is, it's a skort, so it has bottoms, but it- Oh, okay... looks terrible.
17:44
And she was wearing a Metallica shirt, cut out sleeves and open neck, so she, so everyone can see her belly button piercing.
17:51
And I'm like, "Oh, my family is just gonna- Oh, she's gonna show that off for, for weeks or months- You know... or years... yeah. It's gonna be really, really entertaining at Christmas.
17:59
So I'll report back, 'cause that's my right-wing side of the family. Copy that. Yeah, I'm really- Oh, yeah, that'll be- Yeah... that'll be interesting. I'm really gonna enjoy [laughs] bringing her to that. All right.
18:07
So JK on his Facebook post hit up, hit up, what, when was, what year was that? The, the Santa rampage from the old school?
18:15
Uh, 2011 I wanna say it was Wow, that was a long time ago Didn't take a gander So my, but my, the way people were commenting on it, is it like we're gonna do that tomorrow?
18:25
[laughs] And- It's been done for two weeks No, because it was alway- always- Saturday the 17th... it was later in the year. It was. It, it was always much- It was... like two weeks before Christmas- You're right, yeah...
18:34
not a full month before Christmas. Yeah. And do we... I mean, there is one in Decorah this weekend, I think. I know there was one there last weekend that Lee did, but now the ladies wanna do one.
18:43
I think this was- The ladies of Decorah, folks... [clears throat] I think this was the first year- You might wanna ride around and wear a suit...
18:48
yeah, it was 2011, and I think it was the first year that they didn't start just at Hollander. That's what- Oh, okay... 'cause they opened up four starting points. Frank Howes and Tosa. Right.
19:00
Yeah, kinda River West, Tosa- Uh- Oh, that's right... Hollander- We started at-... and Central... Dino's. That, I don't think that was 2011. We've definitely s- well, Dino's now closed again, though, so.
19:10
Yeah, but- But- But we did start in River West, and I can't remember where We started at Fuel Cafe- Oh... a few times. Oh, m- yeah, it was probably Fuel. Yeah, met there and went down to Downer. Yeah.
19:20
And then we really started from Downer. But anyway, my point here is, folks, are we gonna ride on Saturday? Maybe. Somewhere. I mean, we don't, you know... We could just do the route.
19:31
I'm not sure about wearing the s- I put the Santa costume away in the bag, in the box already. [laughs] I, I keep finding parts of it, though. Fair. So now I have a box- Really?...
19:40
that's labeled Santa Rampage, and all the- [laughs]... parts that I've been finding as I've been moving through the shop, trying to organize and find shit that we can sell to you fine people. Um- Buy stuff...
19:50
and, uh, just keep running across, like, oh, there's, there's the hat that I didn't have this year because I couldn't find it, and [laughs] Huh. Speaking of which, uh,
20:00
Todd Eliota, one of the, uh, BMXicans, was [laughs] he's like, "I have to work." [laughs] On? Saturday. Oh, yeah, whatever it is. On Saturday.
20:07
He just like, like 40 minutes ago was like [laughs] Well, I say, I say we st- we start at 8:30. 9:00 AM we go somewhere. We sit around for- [laughs]...
20:14
three hours and watch the World Cup game, and then we go home, 'cause we're gonna... [laughs] I dunno. But anyway- Well, it's the th- yeah, the third place game is on Saturday anyways. Right. So, yeah.
20:23
We'll, we'll, we'll let you know if we [laughs] decided to rampage. I dunno. If it would be, it would be- You know what else happened last weekend?... a normal-ish route. Mm. You're... Last weekend was, um,
20:34
do you remember my team name for the River West 24 this year? This year? Yeah. Don't Pet Burning Dogs. Nope. Damn it, Damien. Oh. Where's my- Where's my fucking ham?... ham? Oh, yeah. Damien opened back up, baby.
20:49
That is true. And while I haven't actually been in myself, I've eaten there twice already. Yes. Thanks to Mr.- [laughs]... T Burger.
20:56
We had, he bought, he bought sandwiches on Saturday while we were doing his floor at his house. I had a ham wrap. What'd you have? I had the, uh, hard salami, or a salami wrap- What is-...
21:07
because they don't have their chicken ready yet... James had some kind of Italian, I think. Hot Italian. Yeah. And Molly- Hot Italian... had the devada- the, the Diablo. I do like their meatball too, though. Yeah.
21:16
There was, there was a lot of very good or... Place was packed, of course. Well, it's interesting. I mean- And then, so I was going to sleep Saturday night after, like, one beer and being like, "I am just toast.
21:28
I gotta go to sleep." So it was, I dunno, 10:00 or something, and I sent Tony a text. I said, "Do not let them run out of hot ham on Sunday morning." And? I got up at, like, 8:00 sore as shit,
21:43
and I saw Gre- and I actually, actually, before I even saw your text, I'm like, "I gotta go get ham and hard rolls."
21:50
And then I saw your text, and I chuckled a little, and I said to Molly, I'm like, "Yeah, Greg says, you know, we better get there before they run out." So Molly's like, "I already intended on going."
22:00
So she goes down, and actually, this is a really long but funny story. She goes down and gets ham and hard rolls, comes back, and she's like, "We got the last bag of hard rolls."
22:09
Like- And, and this was like 9:00- 9:30... 9:30 in the morning? Yeah. Yeah, somewhere. It was early. 9:30. And, uh, and besides being absolutely outstanding, um- [laughs]
22:21
So Molly also got Damien's first batch of hot Italians, and apparently- [laughs] Stupid... he told her, he told her, he's like, "These, you know, they're not as hot as they usually are." [laughs] Uh-huh.
22:33
So Monday, the new me starts at the job, and we discuss where we're all going to lunch, and for some reason, we end up at Steny's. It's on Monday, so Steny's- How did Steny's get into the story about Damien's place?
22:45
Uh, it's getting there. Okay. It's getting there. It's coming around. We're, I, I wanna get on my skateboard and push down the- Yeah, it's get- it's getting there... hill just a little bit now... it's getting there.
22:51
Okay. So we go, and, and, uh, I have just chicken tenders, and she's like, "W- what sauce would you like?" And I, being cavalier, said, "I'll take your hottest sauce."
23:04
She delivers it to the table, and she's like, "Good luck tomorrow." [laughs] And I nearly died after the first bite of the first tender, but I mellowed out, and I made it through.
23:17
But I took some home, and I came back home from work, and I said to Molly, I'm like... I come in the house, and Molly's cooking. And all of a sudden I'm like, "Holy shit, you're making Damien's hot Italians, aren't you?"
23:31
In which case she smiled and said, "Yes." So I had a really rough Tuesday. [laughs] And Damien's rules.
23:40
So, okay, so, okay, Tony, Tony, okay, I gotta ask you this, 'cause we were at, uh, Bram having a post-sanding day party in the evening of Sunday. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. And you bailed to go to Damien's guy party.
23:53
Apparently women weren't invited or something. [laughs] It was full of women. Well, th- then why did Molly say she wasn't invited? I dunno. Ha. I dunno. Um- So, so what was, what was the scene?
24:04
Um- Were they just partying to party or...? Um, it was kinda surreal. There was a combination of local River West, some of them weirdos, some of them fun,
24:20
Damien's family, people from outside of River West that came, and then some dude who just got back from going through Kentucky- With- Can tuck in...
24:34
with a, I'll, I'll send it to the notes 'cause with 110 proof whiskey for everyone to do a shot- [laughs] And that's all I remember. That guy's awesome.
24:44
It, it, it was, you know, 110 proof, you're thinking it's gonna be just bitey and miserable. It's only- It was so good... it's only 55% alcohol. Yeah, right? It was called Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey.
24:58
Uh, well, the rye is intriguing in and of itself, but, uh, anything... Okay, so you know why all whiskey is 80 proof now is because you can't advertise it unless it's 80 proof or less. Or less. Uh-huh.
25:11
So real, obviously real good whiskey is n- it normally in that 100, 110, 100- Yeah, it's, yeah... somewhere in there.
25:18
It's got to have some, it's got to have some kick up in there from, uh, you know, from the alcohol portion- Right, right... of the situation. You're not drinking syrup water, you know? Right. Oh, my gosh.
25:30
Remember when they, not long ago, watered down Maker's Mark? Yes. And there was an uproar? Yes. And then it wasn't like New Coke and Classic Coke- [laughs]... it was like, "Get rid of that crap.
25:40
We're not drinking [laughs] that stuff."
25:42
Well, it, it's a lot like the same uproar when Saint Pauli Girl built a brewery in the United States, and everyone's like, "This is not Saint Pauli Girl," because part of Saint Pauli Girl is the water. Yes.
25:53
Sitting on a- All beer is the water... it's, no, wait, it's sitting on a boat for six weeks to get across the water- That-... and turning into skunky crap- Right... before it gets here.
26:01
I- It's not the water they brew it with... I, I'm just gonna tell you- [laughs]... I have been to Ireland and I drink Guinness. I can't drink Guinness in the United States anymore because of that.
26:08
Isn't Saint Pauli Girl from Germany? Yeah, I'm talking about Guinness now, though. Oh, right. Okay. I'm bouncing around. Well, then, yeah, so- Well, I've been right along.
26:13
Yeah, it's just- It's kinda like- Been right along. [laughs] Yeah, the Guinness is kinda like bread in a can. Mm-hmm. You can...
26:18
It's only 4.5%, so you're really not gonna get that buzz, but you can drink a lot of it while you're unloading the ship down there at the old longshore dock there.
26:27
Anyone that can drink a lot of Guinness is pretty impressive- Well-... 'cause that stuff weighs you down. Right. It's like bread, but it really is only 4.5%. I know. It's super low alcohol. Oh, I know, it's very low.
26:35
Yeah, yeah. So it was made to keep the people who are moving constantly for 8 hours or 10 or 12 or 14 hours a day unloading ships, keep them fueled with carbohydrates that- And happy... didn't cost meat money. Right.
26:50
'Cause meat, you don't want that when you're burning, burning, burning, burn... It's kinda like- Burning, burning... burning. I'm burning, burning for you. I know. Hey, we almost got through this whole list.
27:01
Burning, burning. I can't believe it. I didn't even know what we were gonna talk about today, but apparently we figured out how to do it already for most of the show. But back to that.
27:07
Um, one, one, but- Everyone should go to Damian's. Yes. When you come to Milwaukee, go to Scardina Specialties, 715 East Locust Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53212.
27:17
I don't know his phone number, but it is on speed dial because I used to eat there three days a week at the old spot. [laughs] I mean, now it's like, mm, three-quarters of a mile instead of one block. One block.
27:29
But [laughs] it was- An alley. It wasn't even a block, man. Yeah, it was like, yeah, it was an, it was a block. Yeah. Right down the alley. An alley block. It was beautiful. You had to cross one street. Yeah. True.
27:38
[laughs] You, you are correct, sir. Um, so I just, just came across, I don't know if you guys follow a bunch of the other websites out there that are way better than ours. No. But, um- No...
27:50
so, you know, I, so I don't know if you guys, uh, whatever, whatever. So there's these things called brand ambassadors for brands, like Specialized has brand ambassador, had- Milort or Jepson's...
28:00
more to, oh, yeah, yeah, Matt, brand ambassador, which I tried to steal from him- [laughs]... to become the Milort ambassador for Milwaukee or Wisconsin or wherever, but whatever. Why's Tony got his hand up in the air?
28:13
What are you doing? I don't, I don't know. Oh, he wants a beer. Oh. [laughs] Um, so anyway- [laughs] Fuck, I, I have no faintest idea. Well, look- He was horse-shacking over there... a, a, a little heads up here, folks.
28:24
Oh, Mr. Carter. With the, with the, with the bike industry now- Oh... okay, so here's what happened.
28:28
They had the pandemic, and then suddenly everybody wanted to ride a bike because you could be outside and you don't have to be around people, so everybody bought a bunch of bikes.
28:35
Stupid bike companies are like, "Oh, this is gonna go on for 10 more years. Ha, ha, ha, ha." No. Well, they didn't, and now they're losing their asses because they have too much inventory.
28:44
But anyway, these brand ambassadors are people that are walking the walk, talking the talk, doing the real deal, and they get subsidized by a brand. Specialized, Diamondback are two that came up recently this week.
28:56
I already hate Specialized anyway, but- Hear, hear... uh, uh, uh, but anyway, so they terminated all their contracts without, and now is when you'd actually sign a contract for next year kinda.
29:07
So if you were gonna be a brand ambassador for a new brand, now somebody else already took that role. So they're kinda n- n- SOL for a year.
29:16
These people that do insanely good stuff that you cubicle monkeys watch- Hear him... on your YouTube- Hear him...
29:24
when you're going like, "God, I wish I could go to Tasmania and ride around on that island on a bike and bike pack for a month," blah, blah, blah. Or, "Where's Madagascar?
29:33
Yes, I wanna go down there and commune with nature," and whatever, whatever. These people do that shit, and, and they use a company's product, and they, you know, they post it on the social medias.
29:43
That's what this is all about. Here's my question: first of all, do you [laughs] do you know any of these people? No.
29:51
But have you ever even seen them in y- 'cause both, obviously, Tony and JK, Tony's already committed to riding every day next year, by the way. Boom.
30:01
So every single day, ride a bike to work, or not to work, but ride a bike every day 'cause he got a new job. Uh, and JK already rides a bike every day pretty much, unless he gets a ride to work like the other day. Today.
30:13
[laughs] But I had, uh, but then I got on my bike and we rode- To be fair, he rode to this place here... we rode, rode around. Uh, anyway- A couple places away... so I- I also got a ride to work today...
30:22
I don't, I don't know. Is it, I mean, I don't, I guess I'm not a huge social media fan anymore. 11,000 steps, that's what happens on the days- Oh, when you, when you walk home? Yeah. [laughs] From, from, from the J-O-B?
30:33
So I don't know. D- um- So you guys, did you... You know what a brand ambassador is? Yeah. I mean, I've explained it obviously. Yeah. But is that, d- were you familiar with the actual idea before?
30:44
Like, Kim Kardashian might be a, a, a brand ambassador for- I'm sure she is, but who cares?... some fizzy dr- for some fizzy drink or something. Oh. But she gets a million- Heineken IPA...
30:52
and these people get, they get, they get- I'm an influencer... a, a stipend to, you know, somehow make their lifestyle work. Okay, so has any brand ambassador ever influenced your purchase? I don't care if it's a bike.
31:05
No. I don't care if it's a fizzy drink. No. I don't care if it's anything. Absolutely not. You, oh, you looked at Instagram today and you're like, "Oh my God, I gotta go freaking buy that." No.
31:13
Or you've seen it one million times just like normal advertising. Do you know who my brand ambassador is? When I look at nails. Me. [laughs] Sven. It's Sven. It's Sven. I'm...
31:23
Yeah, Tony's probably the biggest sucker- I think [laughs]... to the Schlick Cycles thing in the whole history of the world. I think he may own more Schlicks- Nope... than anyone. Dave Lunz and I are tied..com.
31:33
Oh, yeah. I forgot about Dave. I also forgot about, that he had to buy another bike 'cause one of... He smashed one of them up, but whatever. No, Dave? No. Anyway, and so yeah, so not even another industry.
31:45
Like, not a camping thing or a, or a, some kind of coffee mug or anything. I just, I don't think it, any of those people have never influenced me. Me.
31:55
So I'm not sure, and I, I love people that can make money coming up with new ways to make money, but I've never been influenced. I'll guarantee you my daughter has. Yeah. Maybe she's a sucker, though. Yeah.
32:06
'Cause she's nine. No, I, I think that we're, that age group is different than us, obviously. So that's why- Fucking nuts... so is that why the world's going to hell- Yeah... in the ambassador? I think so. Exactly. Yes.
32:16
Anyway, so there you go, folks. We, we done did the show. We did. Uh, I don't know what we talked about. We did. It's not super important- It didn't...
32:25
anyway, 'cause, you know, we'll do it again next week, and likely we won't talk about the same things, and likely if you're a sucker, you'll listen. Viva la resistance. Oh. Oh. Damn it, Damien. Thanks for my ham.
32:39
[laughs] Yeah. Watch out for them Argentinians. I think there's escaped Nazis and, floating around in there. Wait till I show you the dick pic.
32:48
[upbeat music]
