[rock music] Uh, hello and stuff.
• 0:18
Yeah. Hello. Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 70. 70. Oh. 70, seven zero. Oh, I feel so old. The autumn years. Yeah, the declining [laughs] the declining years. It's all downhill from here.
• 0:34
At least for this, for this show. It's all downhill from here. It's all downhill from here, folks. Just bear with us. Grab your hot socks and hose and bull. Right? Just kinda- Hasta la cools... hang in there with us.
• 0:43
We'll get- [laughs] We'll get through this together. [laughs] Takes a village. Uh, freaking heat's back today again. Oh, tonight ain't gonna be anything like it's gonna be Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Right. So get your...
• 0:55
Or wait, today, tomorrow and, and Sunday. So- It's gonna be super hot... right now y- while you're listening to this, we could be pretending that the River West 24 is going on. Yeah, I know.
• 1:07
Yeah, I'll be across the street trying to pick up my shirt and spoke card. Me too. I would just like to take this moment to say fuck COVID. Yeah, for sure.
• 1:16
I mean- People are be- people are doing a- s- a few people are doing things. I think- I mean- I think Ken's Salty Nuts is doing something and- Yeah, I'm sure there's gonna be people- A couple other teams...
• 1:27
riding, um- Responsibly distanced... yeah, I'm gonna have some beers, but I, like I said, I gotta do a whole bunch of work now on my house- Right on... before Monday when the pump shows up.
• 1:37
Well, let me see what this fella wants at the door. Mm-hmm. You guys keep chatting about- Yeah... the 24 and potential- Yeah... parties and stuff like that. Sounds, sounds like a plan. So yeah, I don't know. I'm gonna...
• 1:49
You gonna be around and do some riding? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Mm-hmm. It, it really snuck up this year. Mm-hmm. Well, I mean- Mm-hmm... everything snuck up.
• 1:57
I mean, the end of summer- I- Uh, the end of summer is sneaking up on, you know- [laughs] No doubt, no doubt... us. Yeah. That being with University- They make the announcement today, yeah. They made an announcement.
• 2:10
An announcement, yes. I mean, I'm... Oh, dude, let's put it this way. I'm in one of the guts of the place, and there's still... They're not gonna know till Friday. Yeah.
• 2:20
The, the, I mean, the, the real logistics of it- Got it... and whatever, 'cause there is some dancing around that people are just like, "What?" No, you don't want to... And thankfully, I am all things working from home.
• 2:36
Yep. I don't need to be on campus. You guys can all, you know, da, da, da, da, da, da. Yep, that's- I'll get my good lunch out. Yeah, that's a, uh, that is a bummer. Yeah, but- Bummer, yeah...
• 2:47
it, it affords me- But- And my boss is very cool with me riding, so after doing the meetings, like, "Well, Michael, you have to get out and get on your bicycle. You have to go."
• 2:56
I went for five miles this morning, but I wake up at 6:00 in the morning. I'm like, "Ha ha ha." I don't know. Well, I don't. I will wait until later in the afternoon and go down to an outdoor, take it outside bar- Ah...
• 3:09
and, yes. Yeah, there. I'll do my five miles, so there. Exactly. I'm just saying, we have our different ways of doing these things. Right. In the end, we achieve the same goal. Exactly.
• 3:18
If I get my 10 miles in a day, no matter how- Yeah... I pull it off- That's cool... all is well in the world. Yep. Oh. I used to be doing RWB 24 laps, but, you know, I feel [smacks lips]- Yeah...
• 3:30
uh, it's just- Well, and that, even that, I, I, I kinda... I mean, well, us doing
• 3:36
the show in the past kinda precluded from what the normal, from the practice laps, they were Wednesdays at 7:00- Wednesdays at 7:00, right... so, you know, that kinda, I mean,
• 3:47
threw that little bit out, but not that you couldn't do it. I mean- And a lot, a lot of the way I ride around, I kinda do a lap. [laughs] I'm, I'm, uh- Ish... yeah.
• 3:58
[laughs] I'm kinda thinking the start-finish line at 7:00 might be the place to be. Even though there's not anything planned, I think- Of course, of course... you're gonna see some socially- If you can be res-...
• 4:08
a lot of socially distanced riders IR returned. IR. He just re- Is everything okay? He just needed a Presta valve cover, which- Mm... I don't know if you've ever seen Lance Armstrong changing a tube.
• 4:20
He'd, like, just toss it. These things, bam. I forget the exact words. I'm not- That's Emer- There's another- That's Emeril Lagasse. Bam.
• 4:28
[laughs] There, there's another video later where, I can't remember if it's Greg LeMond or someone else that's like, it's a similar how to inflate a tire, but he takes the pump and gets rid of it, and then he inflates the tire to, like, 82 pounds of pressure with his lungs.
• 4:45
Wow. It's something- Geez... like that, and everyone was just like, "W- what?" Just, like, one blow. Like, whoosh. Yeah. Wow. And everyone was like, "Whoa, whoa." No, no bong rips will thank it. Yeah. [laughs] No.
• 4:56
Dude, for real. [laughs] Yeah, I can't, I can't find the video anymore, but yeah, it's really great. Um- Excellent... yeah, anyway, and it's bike related. We've been talking about it, so there you go. Right.
• 5:08
So s- yep, Friday, today. Today, tonight. Today. The super humid Saturday. You guys gotta stay hydrated if you might be doing River West 24 lap things. Recon laps. Yeah. 24 minutes. [laughs] Checking, checking the...
• 5:22
Yeah, just doing a, doing a long walker. If I c- if I could do one lap in 24 minutes relaxed and groovy, like- I'm totally cool with that... I'm like- That's a good time... oh, that's a good-
• 5:30
I think on Satur- Something-... Saturday, though, with the humidity in the n- mid-90s, that's... There's been a few years where that's been a pretty, a recipe for some pretty brutal [laughs] rides. Oh, shit. Yeah, yeah.
• 5:40
All the people get their hoses out free and stuff, but man, whoa. Okay, I gotta push the button. Push the... Oh. Welcome to the radio program caller. Who do we have on the line?
• 5:52
Hi, can I get a large pepperoni and an order of garlic toast to go? Uh, yes, sir. Uh, are you gonna- [laughs] Could we have your Social Security number, your credit card, and your address?
• 6:02
Which will be broadcast- Okay, all right... to the world at large. You don't take cash anymore? What the hell? Cash. [laughs] That's, yeah, a lot of places aren't taking cash anymore. I did have some Fero's on Monday.
• 6:12
Cash is dirty. Nice. How you doing, guys? Doing well. It, it's Chewy, if everybody doesn't recognize- [groans]... his voice already. That's, that's pretty, pretty obvious once you've met Chewy and heard his voice.
• 6:26
It's... You know Chewy. Well, he was just on the show a couple of weeks ago- Yeah... so- True that... they can't have forgotten already. Oh, they could have. He wasn't that memorable. Oh. I'll, I'll bet Lynn hasn't.
• 6:38
[laughs] Uh, if you didn't listen to last week's show- That was great [laughs]... uh, we, we read Lynn's response to Chewy's e-bike, uh- [laughs]... e- e-bike attack,
• 6:49
which was, it sh- the word disgusting was in it, I think. That said- Oh. You keep saying that word. That, that- I d- I, I do not think it means what you think it means.
• 6:59
[laughs] Well, it sort of like seemed like the, the beginning of it was, uh, sort of harshly criticizing, in the end was like, "Well, come by and have coffee. My husband grinds his own beans." Yeah.
• 7:09
Maybe it was just an all in a marketing ploy in the first place. Otherwise, if it isn't, send us some coffee. [laughs] So do you have a rebuttal? Is that... [laughs] Well, uh, uh, first of all, I was not wavering. Ah.
• 7:22
Ah. I was lip flopping. [laughs] I was, I was- Ah, I know... [laughs] I was being polite to start with and then, and then somebody started pouring me very dark substances and the politeness kind of went out the window.
• 7:34
Oh. Oh. Oh, I see where this is going. Yeah, we had some good beer from- [laughs]... from Rochester during that show. Oh, Lord. That, that was some- The blood orange. Oh. Oh, that was outstanding.
• 7:43
Well, I, I can tell you personally that this show today is being brought to you by Webster OG. It is a sativa hybrid. [laughs] What? Yeah, yeah, that's what that's all about. Okay.
• 7:58
Um, yeah, Chewy, I, I think, you know, I- Whoa, I don't wanna mess with no refrax, man. [laughs] I, I am just saying, you know, I think you wavered a little on your e-bike stance. I think you could...
• 8:08
You helped build one, for the love of Pete. How can you hate them that much? I, I didn't waver. I was just being polite. [laughs] I gave everybody a chance- Okay. All right... to, to- All right...
• 8:19
to try to prove me wrong. Okay... and of course, I wasn't wrong. And, and- Well, I sure as hell wasn't wrong... okay, let's, let's, let's discuss Lynn's comment.
• 8:26
Now, if I rode one mile farther each day, 'cause I only go nine, not 10. So I suppose if I was old, and, and- Uh... and she's the one that called herself old. I didn't say it.
• 8:39
If I was older and I rode 10 miles instead of nine and had maybe one more hill to climb, I still wouldn't consider it. [laughs] What if you were older, [eating], maybe, you know, slightly [eating]...
• 8:55
That's, that's popcorn, of course Yeah... heavier. [laughs] And you had to ride- And brave... say, 25 miles instead of 10 and there was four hills? No. Well, no. There was four hills- Yeah...
• 9:09
I would spend on the hills, but no, I would still ride my bike. Oh, they're hills, man. [eating] I may not commute, I may not commute every day- I know...
• 9:16
but I would still ride as- See, you're, you're comparing yourself to everyone else in the world, Chewy, and you're a freaking monster. [laughs] Oh, I would- You're a machine.
• 9:29
I'm, I'm, and I, and I would like to bring up, too, that I also don't have any gears on that bike. I know. I don't have any gears on my bike either. [laughs] No gears. You never have had gears.
• 9:39
Wait a minute, you did have a geared bike. I've had many geared bikes. Was it your, uh... Or not.
• 9:44
I n- I normally would always start out with geared bikes and then something would happen and seize up, and I could just find the one- That holds it...
• 9:51
that, yeah, and then, then I- Ride it like that for 20 miles or 400 miles or- Or a couple years... 60. Yeah... and that's when I learned, I'll just get a goddamn single speed. [laughs] Mm-hmm. Don't have- Ta-da...
• 10:02
don't have to worry about it. Exactly. Simplicity. Good Lord. So Chewy, what's your stance on, uh, on belt drive single speed bikes at- Oh... this current time in bike evolution? Um- Either electric or otherwise.
• 10:14
[laughs] Gas-powered- I-... you know. [laughs] You know, when they, when they- Methane... first came out, they were...
• 10:21
When they first came out with the belt drive back when it was Spot that was using them quite a bit- Yep...
• 10:27
I thought they were too big of a pain in the ass to try to get everything lined up and the tight and keep it tightened just right. Yep. And if you were heavy, you could, you could still pop the belt- Yep...
• 10:36
but with the way the new belts are made and everything, I, I wanted to put one on, on, um, we were gonna put one on the Fat Tanya that we built, but they didn't have the drive si- or the, the link side, but the, the belt they had for that one was the correct, correct size, so we couldn't do it.
• 10:49
[laughs] But I would love a belt drive bike.
• 10:52
I remember being in Decorah and you borrowed my, my first Schlick belt drive bike, and it had the old system and you, you were cursing at it because the belt came off when you were climbing a hill, I think- Oh, yeah...
• 11:03
somewhere along the trail. [laughs] That shit was nuts. It happened to me, like, three times with the original.
• 11:07
But, but that was before they bu- that was before they put the slit down the middle and added that- Right, right, right... and that- Center jack. Right. And, and to- And I don't, I don't- And to be fair- To be fair.
• 11:15
To be fair. To be fair. The, um, you know, a steel bike that's a little, got a little compliance in the back was absolutely not great for that original belt. Right. But now I think we're pretty good.
• 11:26
If it gets a Chewy- You know, what-... stamp of approval, I think I'm making my, uh- Yeah... simplified a, a single speed- A center jack... belt drive e-bike. You know what else, you know what else you should look at?
• 11:33
I'm gonna take this time to once again bring back an oldie but a goodie. Oh, no. You should go online and look at, I think you are the perfect candidate for a Baby Maker. I knew, I knew it was coming.
• 11:45
[laughs] Could smell it. I said, "Oh, man." Because you could see it rolling in- Oh, yeah... like a thunderstorm from a mile away.
• 11:49
Yeah, that was, yeah, that, that was the T-ball- I, I'm just, uh- That was the T-ball pitcher pitching the perfect game there.
• 11:53
[laughs] I'm, I'm being silly there 'cause Chewy, it's like a, it's a, yeah, it's a ridiculous electric bike. I'm just gonna leave it at that. We just, it got, uh, we wavered off because it's belt drive. Yeah.
• 12:03
That's all. It's, that's what's kind of- Right. It's, uh... But don't forget, you can go back to the, the really good belt drive bikes. Black Sheep was making one that- Yeah...
• 12:14
Jake Kirkpatrick and Kramer and those guys were racing on and having zero trouble once they got them set up. Right on. That's good to know.
• 12:21
But they had them, they had them di- they had them dialed into a little etch mark on the, on the frame so they knew exactly where to put it, where, when they put the- There you go...
• 12:29
when they put the bike together and put the rear triangle on, they knew exactly where to go, and they never had any trouble with those. I think Jake did, uh, uh, Tour Divide on it, I believe- Wow...
• 12:39
  and without any trouble.
• 12:40
Well, if you get one, you know they have an app if you have an iPhone, I don't know if they have an Android version of it, that can tell you if your belt tension is correct just by plucking it like a guitar string.
• 12:50
[laughs] Like a tuning fork? Yeah, 'cause it will vibrate- Really?... at whatever frequency. [laughs] Did you hear him? If it, if it's too high- Really? [laughs]... of a pitch, it's too tight.
• 12:57
If it doesn't make any noise, it's not tight enough, and there's... I don't know, it's like [mouth noises] you know. There's some noise that it makes at the right- But if it's too cold-... frequency...
• 13:06
everything is shrinking up, and then [mouth noises] It shrinks... it shrinks. You know.
• 13:11
[laughs] They, when we rode them out in, uh, Boulder, Boulder City for, um, Interbike the year that, uh, I can't think of who bought Spot out originally from Mike Judge and those guys, but, um, I just grabbed one and took off on it.
• 13:25
They said, "Here, just take this one," and it sq- it creaked so bad. And they said, "Well, you just didn't lube it," and I'm like, "It's a belt drive. You're not supposed to lube it."
• 13:32
No, you take a little bit of water and you spray the dust off of it, then there's no noise whatsoever. Oh, yeah. That's pretty impressive. Wow. Wow.
• 13:38
Well, I had one for quite a while on a, um, a Schlick, um, I had a belt drive on a roll-off hub- Yeah... for my fat bike, for my- Oh, yeah. That's right. Yep... my, like, beach fat bike.
• 13:49
And that, that thing, a- all the sand grinding around in there and everything, it probably had, I don't know, uh, f- I can't even imagine how, more than 2,000.
• 13:58
It had a lot of miles on it, and mostly on the beach for that bike. And the sand getting in there does wear the front chain wheel and makes it like a little Ginsu knife, but it, it works.
• 14:09
It, and y- that thing was in the water, and it was floating, and it was being kinda weird- Tested... and all that stuff, so. Tested. [laughs] You know, and it's- Yeah...
• 14:18
and it's too bad they haven't, they haven't come up with a way to, to keep it on a three-speed because think about the, the majority of the people that ride a three-speed don't take care of their chains.
• 14:26
It, it would be perfect. That way those bikes would last forever with the belt drive. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. Yep. They can put them on a three-speed now. [bell rings] Uh-oh. He- hear, hear that sound, Chewy?
• 14:33
It's, uh, top of the hill. Oh, it's about time. Top, huh? [laughs] All right, let me go... Did, did you and- Standby... did you and, uh, Tony, like, have psychic communication to get the same beer? Psychic. Or no?
• 14:45
I doubt it. What is our show beer today? New Belgium 1985 IPA. Voodoo Ranger series. Voodoo Ranger series. It is- We're, uh-... k- to me it's got sort of a grapefruity feel to it- It does... or something. Totally does.
• 15:01
Oh, there's ano- another one magically appeared. Poof. Just like that. That's right, Marty. 1985. [laughs] It is, it is delicious. We are in sour mode over here in, in the western part of the state because, uh, um,
• 15:16
uh, Poplar Rock had three releases last Saturday on sours. So I'm doing the, uh, the, uh, Sunshine & Swimsuits. It's a blackberry and lemonade. It's pretty dang good. Huh. And it's a sour? Yeah. It's, that's not a beer.
• 15:32
Yeah, they do that. They do, they did, they did- They can be-... hazy sours. They did- Depend- depending on the sour. I've had, like, some insanely- Do you have to drink this with your pinky out or-...
• 15:40
insanely sour sours- This-... that are way too much I, I'd su- This sounds fancy... after drinking this is I have a bead of sweat. Oh. I'll bead of sweat. A bead is good beer too. A bead of sweat. Ah.
• 15:53
A bead is good beer as well. Oh, yes. Um, Voodoo Ranger. So, like, this one is, uh, a hazy IPA, like, totally loaded with juicy mango flavor. Maybe. Maybe. I thought grapefruit, but- Me too...
• 16:05
1980 takes you back to the future of hazy IPAs. Buckle up. Tasting, blah, blah, blah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Oh, and it does have a Back to the Future logo elite type of thing. Yeah. I'm telling you. God.
• 16:15
Little Back to the Future reference. It's a little salute to Back to the Future. Great minds. Those guys. So if New Belgium would ever do Tour de Fat back in Milwaukee ever- Ever... again, mm.
• 16:26
They're some major corporation now. They're not doing that shit. Dude, all you need is one person- Hell no... in the fucking, one department. I know. [laughs] For God's sake.
• 16:36
And don't schedule it over the weekend of the River West '24, which, Chewy- Yeah... did you just... All right, just give us a little flashback of your time during the River West '24.
• 16:47
Well, while everybody else was sleeping and I was the only one riding. That's a good part of it. [laughs] Yeah, yeah, you did pretty well there. Thanks, by the way. I was doing solo on that year- That was-...
• 16:55
if I, if I'm correct. [laughs] We were doing, we were all doing, we were all doing it on cargo bikes also. Yep. I was, uh, that was the- We were-... that was the year after I retired... dr- dr- drunks in the trunk. Yeah.
• 17:06
Yeah. Well, that was- Yep... the year of bequeathing the, uh, the coins. Yes. Yes, that was the- The coins were delivered... that's when Chewy found out the coins. Oh, yeah. That was the start of the coins, wasn't it?
• 17:17
Yep, yep. Yes. It was. Right out- Outside, right, right outside of Dino's. Outside of Dino's when Bad Bread was playing. Rest in peace, Bad Bread. Oh, yeah. Bread. Yep. Yeah. What a great band. The band has dissolved.
• 17:28
Well, there was, that, he's teaching my daughter guitar now. I don't know what the hell happened. Oh, that's awesome. Patrick became kinda weird there for a while. Yeah.
• 17:34
I don't know if he's de-weirdified yet at this point, but- Um, eh. It got, it got too artsy for me. What's that?
• 17:41
With the, with the, uh, the, the extra, the Rivers West one had the extra stop that you sat- Oh, the bonuses?... in a room with a telephone and talked to whoever was on the other end of it to get extra- Oh, I see.
• 17:52
You're the only one that got to do that... points or laps. Bonus, bonus checkpoints. It's a bonus checkpoint. Yeah, yeah. You're the only one on our team that got to do that. I did that one, and I did the tattoo.
• 18:02
Um, I couldn't do the poem 'cause I couldn't write poetry if my life depended on it. Oh. Um- Everything's-...
• 18:10
and that was about the only ones I did No, we, uh- [laughs] I, I think we're saying it was a good year There once was this girl from Nantucket. [laughs] We, uh, yeah. That's a limerick, though. It's not a poem. Right.
• 18:20
Whatever. It's all in the delivery. It's, it's art. Um- It was a good time, but- Now it belongs to the ages. Yeah, that was the only time you did it, correct? Right, yeah. We're, uh... Uh, there was some...
• 18:33
Was there maybe a singlespeed world championship in the way the next year? Mm-hmm. So it w- that Spinner and I were gone the next year, and we just haven't gotten back to it again. Mm-hmm. And then- Well- Did-...
• 18:41
it's not here this year, but- Are they having it this year? No. No.
• 18:44
There'll be, I- They- So many people have stopped in the shop or I've seen them riding around and they're talking about, "Oh, yeah, we're having a little-" The shirts go up Friday... you know, street party and- Yeah...
• 18:54
and, and, you know, so, and people are gonna do ceremonial laps and whatnot, so I, who knows? You could- There could, there could be as many people as the real event. You never know...
• 19:01
you could still register, and they'll send you a shirt and, you know, shit like that. But- Yeah. Yeah. Is it too late to do that? It's okay. 'Cause I would do that. I think you can still do that. I forgot about it.
• 19:11
I think you can still. Go to, yeah, just go... I'm sure you can still do that. You just wouldn't be, uh, in the lottery- In the lottery... for the- Yeah...
• 19:18
to give out to the- Can you, can you guys, can you guys Strava the course for me, and I'll just ride it here in Rochester? Hell no. Yeah, yeah. It's like four and a half miles, four mi- four miles. Well, four now.
• 19:27
They shortened it. Yeah, it's, well, there- 'Cause of checkpoint one changing... you, you can do whatever route you want. We'll do different routes because- I'll do routes... there's routes where you can walk upstairs.
• 19:34
I'll do- There's routes where you go up a steep hill. There's routes where you go- I don't know... a little along with the shallower hill. Um, there's a bunch of different- And I- Because it's not really a course.
• 19:42
You just have to get to the checkpoints. And since it's not really a, a race or a ride, guess what I'm gonna do, Chewie? Guess what? I do wanna do a time trial, though.
• 19:49
I saw one on, I saw one that Steve Smith posted that they did, I think it was on the Repack course out in California, that is, it was you are, it's time trial to the top of the hill.
• 20:02
Um, and you are required to carry a hot dog full of condiments to the top of the hill, and your time doesn't start- Oh, yeah. [laughs]... until you eat it. I saw that on, on- It's weird.
• 20:12
So- This is on the All Hail the Black Market, uh, site. That's terrible. Yep, right, yep. That's a terrible idea. And, and I know the perfect place. Uh, no, the perfect place to do it.
• 20:20
Spinner, we just do it at my house in Decorah. [laughs] You go up the hill, you do Carlson property, you come back down the hill to back of our house, and you have to eat it in front of the crowd.
• 20:28
So what is, uh, what is the elevation of the Repack Strava course? How much vertical footage? Ooh, I, I, well, I'm not sure if they did the Strava, they did the Repack course at...
• 20:36
That's what it looked like when they showed pictures of it, although I don't know if that's... They were in that area, I'm assuming. Interesting. Somewhere over in Marie County over there.
• 20:44
That, it just looked like that area. I don't, I never did see where it was actually held at. Right on. God. Now I have to reinstall fricking Strava. Yeah, and Ride with GPS too, because- Well, Ride with GPS, I do-...
• 20:54
if we're gonna go bike packing, we need Ride with GPS, and if we're gonna- I do like that one. I've used that a lot. I like that one. You know, there's a new Legend, uh, part of, um- Wait, that's another app?...
• 21:02
Strava that is- Yeah... different than the old Legend thing. I don't know. What's this other app called? I don't use Strava, though. I like the Ride With. What's this other app called? Ride Mike?
• 21:08
I think Dave Luntz likes to Strava walking to the bathroom and stupid crap like that, so. Literally. I, I can respect that. [laughs] Zingner. I can respect that. Pow! All right, good night, [laughs] Cleveland.
• 21:22
Well, we got the shop door open today, and there's a guy with a nice, nice sounding stereo out there, bro. Um, it's, it's, it's smarmy out today. Yes. It's not, it's not, um, 900 degrees in there today? Um, it's 80.
• 21:36
It's pretty close to the same thing as when you were here, too. It's like 82. Yeah. Yeah. Moist. Um- Moist...
• 21:41
at some- Oh, by the way, I did immediately get back and go buy two bags of dill pickle, uh, popcorn from Trader Joe's. Hot damn, yeah. And? Which is in the news this week- Feel good...
• 21:51
for having racist names for their stuff. Yeah. Is T- is Joe gotta go? The Traders- No, no, just Trader Ming. Just Trader Ming. Trader Jose. Trader Arabian Joe.
• 22:00
I mean, they, yeah, they do have some, but they were trying, they w- See, I guess I didn't know about any of this 'cause I, you know- They were trying... I, I was, I, I noticed it on things I would buy from there.
• 22:06
I'm going like, "Okay, well, that's kinda clever, I think." I don't know. I didn't really think anything of it. But there probably are Traders named Ming and Jose. Sure. But- Well, I don't know. Probably.
• 22:18
I'll guarantee you. The w- the world, the world is a fresh, fresh, fresh, fresh, fresh peeled scab. Yeah, and social media- You know? [laughs]... is not helping that out at all. Exactly.
• 22:27
[laughs] So everything, everything, like a, just a stiff blast of air is gonna piss the world off now. Hey, here's something interesting. Chewie's looking at podcast gear. Hey, Chewie, you'd be a good podcaster or host.
• 22:45
How's that s- how's that hunt going? Well, I think I'm just about there. Um, it's similar to what you have. Um, I, I just need to- Did you talk, did you talk to, did you talk to Bob at BSW? 'Cause he's the man.
• 22:59
Bob no longer works... No, Bob no longer works there, so I'm, we're dealing with it, with, uh, a guy named Austin from there. He's a- Oh... he's a ton of help. He's a- Oh, right on... pretty good guy.
• 23:06
Yeah, I mean, they're like a- Yeah... p- they're like a pro radios. They're not like a pro audios place. They're more like a pro radio place, and I, they really know their stuff. Uh, BSWusa.com- Yeah, so-...
• 23:17
just in case they wanna sponsor the show or put a dollar in the tip jar, which we don't- Yeah, they, uh, they're-... which we don't have... they're- Which we will have now, though... they were super helpful. Yes. Venmo.
• 23:26
[laughs] And, and you know me. I, other than using your headphones, like I don't have a clue to use any of it. So, um, they're doing, like... I would say, "Okay, I think this is all I need." They go, "No, no, no, no, no.
• 23:36
You need this, this, and this also." I'm like, "Oh, okay, I get that now." So it, it's, uh, yeah, it's very helpful. I think I'll order it this week or if I don't order it tomorrow.
• 23:43
Yeah, and you know- Well, that's still, tomorrow's still this week... well, just depending on how you wanna do it, there's smart ways- Anyway... there's smart ways to do things. No, I'll order, I'll order it on Monday.
• 23:50
I'll order it on Monday- Okay... 'cause it's Friday. I'm good.
• 23:53
So- That's why I can get away with this, 'cause Lynn's in bed, 'cause it's late, early Friday morning, so Lynn's in bed and she's not listening to us right now. Ah. Well, you know- That's good...
• 24:01
if you don't wanna go broke at it, there, the... So if you wanna do the headset thing, you really should just buy three of them and get the fourth free 'cause they basically do that deal.
• 24:10
But if you want a actual- They like tires... on the boom microphone, especially if you're gonna be doing video, which looks cool as hell- Um, the one that Mike- Yeah...
• 24:18
uses, the, um, MXL BCD1, that's actually a really nice mic and it comes with the arm and with the cable, and it's like a buck 69 or something. Mike? Um- Oh, JK... I was gonna get the, um- Mike Inception?
• 24:31
[laughs] Sorry, JK. Okay, what's his- I meant J- I meant JK uses it. Yeah, same, same. Oh. [laughs] That's a really good one for the price, but, you know, you can, you can throw as much money at a microphone- I was-...
• 24:42
if you want. You could get a Neumann for 1,800 bucks or something if you really wanted to. Neumann. I'm getting, I'm getting the, the Electro-Voice.
• 24:49
So I'm gonna go with, I'm gonna go with to start with two headsets and the Electro-Voice mic. Uh, cool. Yeah, they're good ones. As long as it's dynamic. You, uh- Yeah...
• 24:58
a condenser mic for what we're doing isn't probably the greatest thing in the world. That mic is damn dynamic. Mike is, Mike is jamming. Well, and I'm just thinking- JK...
• 25:04
you know, if we do Inception in my shop, my shop is way smaller than yours. Okay. So- Your garage shop?... trying to fit around a table... Yeah. Does it have an official name? But, but... No. No. Yeah.
• 25:16
It's, it's go to Moffitt's house 'cause that's about it. Um, but don't forget, if you're here and you're in the shop, then you get to sit in the, um, salon chair to do the podcast. Oh, right on. Sweet.
• 25:27
Spinner knows about that. Yeah. So you, you know- Yeah. When you cut my hair-... you know a lot of good people. I mean, getting Steve-o Knievel on would be a cool thing. Yeah. Yeah.
• 25:34
You know, I think people would love to hear a, a lot of the- Oh, no doubt. Yeah...
• 25:37
a lot of the people that you know from just your travels and SingleSpeed USA is a whole different crowd than some of the other, you know, people doing this, and those are interesting people, so.
• 25:47
Well, don't forget, you know, it didn't turn out very well 'cause of the mic we're using, but when Spinner was down at Decora with us and we had, uh, Eric Sovereign and, uh, Pat Merge from Drunk Cyclists and myself and, and Spinner, um, that was, that was some of...
• 26:03
W- we sat there spinning for, like, two, three hours. It was the funnest chat we've ever had, just reminiscing about all the silly SingleSpeed Worlds. You know, the guy we really need to talk to is Gino Ripeller.
• 26:13
I'll take it up to his place and we'll- Sure... do, we'll do one from one-on-one sometime. I got some Gino stories- 'Cause that would be-... we could go back to 1995 with, if you want.
• 26:20
[laughs] Um, but here's the th- here's a s- here's a suggestion. Um, it- be... Do a regular frequency. A weekly thing wouldn't be bad, but if you're not gonna do that, then do it monthly. Don't- Yeah...
• 26:32
kind of go haphazard and do one here and one there because people start to get an expectation that they're gonna- Yeah... hear you at a certain point.
• 26:39
And then as little as we're gonna follow our own advice on this show, having some sort of topic and segments is a good idea. Mm. Like, I came up with a new one for this show, so [laughs] Top of the hill. At, at the 70th.
• 26:51
Yeah, top of the hill's a segment. Yeah. Show beer is a segment. Yeah. But this one- It's pretty fair. Yeah... this is, this is things we dig. I think each week- Yeah... we should come to the show- Things we dig...
• 26:59
when I looked at it, I saw and I just bought... and, and say things that we like, whether it's cycling or not really. Ah. But, um- Things we dig... I don't th- I don't think Tony looked at the document.
• 27:09
I- Someone didn't look at their homework... I've, I've been busy. Didn't look at their document. Wow. Wow. All right, Chewy, so, so what's a thing, like- I don't-... on your bike, an accessory? It's not the whole bike.
• 27:18
It's like it's a saddle, it's a bell, it's a whatever. What's something you dig, that you really think people ought to know about that they may- maybe they don't?
• 27:26
On, on, on my bicycles, on anything that I use that's a commuter has a bottle opener. That's a good call. [laughs] There you go. Is there a specific one that it...
• 27:34
Like, the one that goes in place of a headset spacer, or are there other versions? Well, do y- I don't know if you...
• 27:41
Do you realize that almost any bottle opener you get that's, that's truly a bottle opener, um, will actually sit on a water bottle cage mount because the spacing is exactly the same.
• 27:54
Some of the weird ones that were- Oh... like on a Coke machine or something- Oh, right on... that are a single post where it hooks in don't.
• 28:00
But if it has two posts on it to drill into, almost every one that I've ever done, like I have, I have a Coca-Cola one here- Mm... that's on my state bicycle. Well, it was on my state bicycle.
• 28:10
I took the state one off, put it on another one for some [laughs]... talent at my stage. Well, it was in the wrong spot to open a beer anyway. On the state. On, on, on the fat bike. Yeah, you could do it.
• 28:17
I don't know, maybe on their other bikes it's in- Yeah... the right place, but on- I, I think it-... on the fat bike it's a goofy spot... on the skinnies, I think on the skinnies they work out better.
• 28:23
On the Monolith and Megalith, it just- Oh... was... No. Ill placed. You could- Yeah... I even tried it with a f- Well, you could do a seven-ounce-er... I even tried it with the Pony Yeah, with a grenade.
• 28:31
And it just did not work. Hm. So that's a good call. Are th- I mean- So that's like a commercial off the side of a, a, a vending machine type bottle opener. Yep. And they, and they fit- Take, take a pic-...
• 28:43
'cause this one that's just- Take a picture of one and send it to me so I know what I'm looking for. But I got a guy. We'll do it after the show. I got a guy. I know a guy. Okay.
• 28:48
I got a guy that works at Coca-Cola, so we should probably hit him up for- Oh, you know a guy. I, I have a guy. I mean, state, the, the state bike that I have here, um, is, it, there's...
• 28:59
State bike has their own made and they come with them on the down, on the seat tube. Right. I've got one, I've got one mounted on my wall because it didn't work on the fat bike that they make.
• 29:07
[laughs] So now it's sitting on the wall. Yeah. Well, you know, the thing about if your, if your, if your seat angle is- Or it was...
• 29:13
at the wrong angle or it's too tight in there, it's not gonna f- you can't, you can't use it. Right. It needs to be on a pivot. Pivot. Ah, copy that. And the handlebar, the handle- I mean, it's a cool gimmick.
• 29:21
I like it... the handlebar one don't work. I mean, I like it. I li- you know, it's a cool gimmick on it and, yeah. It is. Otherwise, I don't have gimmicks on my bikes. I just have a bicycle. Yeah.
• 29:33
Well, and this, and this segment doesn't have to be a bike thing. Yeah. It can be something else. It can be something- In your doghouse... you use while you're cycling, a backpack. Bike culture.
• 29:40
Hey, you know, I'm just coming up with stuff. This is a brand- A backpack... this is a brand-new segment. I just made it up today. I bought a new speaker.
• 29:46
So the thing that I would like to point out is PDW, Portland Design Works, makes a lot of cool stuff.
• 29:52
But they've got a cool light and it's, like, 35 or 39 bucks, I don't remember, but it makes a really nice defined beam pattern. It's a- actually a square pattern. So if you're on...
• 30:03
You know, if you're riding at night, especially on, like, a r- rails-to-trails type trail and you need a light, you're not blinding everybody else that's coming at you. What's the model called, Tony? I forget.
• 30:13
That would be nice. It's the- Pathfinder... Path, Path what? Pathfinder. Pathfinder. It's a Nissan. Not Path Lead Finder, but- [laughs] Yeah, if you aim it down- Yeah. Yeah [laughs]... and then I've tried it out.
• 30:22
You just put... You know, aim it-... where you would normally aim a light, but it doesn't have the vertical dispersion that a light normally has. $35 even. 34.99? 35 bucks? 35 bucks even. 35 bucks even. Yeah.
• 30:33
So yeah, that's, so that's my thing. It's rechargeable obviously, and, uh, you know, like a lot of PDW stuff, it's pretty well thought out, so. Yeah, that is kinda sharp. Right? And I keep losing lights.
• 30:46
[laughs] And, well, that's the thing. At 35 bucks, you can afford to lose one every once in a while. Yeah. You're not having a silly $400 light that you don't really need unless you're racing, you know? Yeah.
• 30:56
It's like if you're gonna do the Wausau 24, you want the badass shit, but otherwise not necessary. Even some of the, even some of the lesser lights now, with two of those on there, the Wausau you can still do.
• 31:07
Oh, easily. Yeah, that's true. I mean, the, uh, so here's the thing about light tech.
• 31:10
I think it's kind of hit the wall because you don't need lights brighter than, you know, a, if, if you have a couple of 750 lumen ones, one on your helmet and one on your bike, you're gonna be fine.
• 31:23
And they make stuff up to s- ridiculous numbers now. 3,000. 2,000, 3,000. Just it's like you, you just don't need that much light, and you're gonna fry retinas on anybody else that's looking at you. Oh, yeah.
• 31:33
So it's like knock it off. And so by, and so by the way, I quit using a headlight. And you know why? Oh, 'cause, 'cause- 'Cause every time, every time-... Z- uh, 'cause Zito yelled at you? "Turn off your light, man."
• 31:45
Yeah, every time somebody's light on- "Come on, turn off your light." Every time they... No, every time they see somebody's light on, you think you're on an e-bike. And I'm like, "Well, I can't have that."
• 31:51
[laughs] Oh, you're right. You can't do that. Yeah, Zito is the headlight police, you know? Oh, that- It's like, "Dude, don't tell other people how to ride, man. Just kind of just let them do what they do."
• 31:59
Dude, you're ruining my gears, brother. I'm happy, I'm happy that we, we get to ride- Hurry up... and, you know, that everybody does things a little bit differently. You're slow.
• 32:08
I'm slow now, 'cause I still, I pulled my hamstring- Oh [laughs]... on that night you, that we went out after the last Chewy visit and- The water derby [laughs]... slipped, slipped in the water derby.
• 32:16
And, and I got a nice bruise on the back of my leg, which is s- sweet, and also kept me off the bike for about a week, so. Way to go. So thanks, Chewy. That's, you know, that's good. [laughs] Way to go, Chewy.
• 32:25
It's week, it's week two of the whining. What if you'd have really got hurt? [laughs] Well, then it would be like 10 weeks. So obviously he listens to our show, which is awesome. [laughs] That's nice. Yeah.
• 32:35
Yeah, so you're our one listener. Well, that's good to know who it is. Yeah. Yeah.
• 32:38
Um, but, but speaking of which, when you said you, last week when you said you had 1,000 listeners, do you, like, put a megaphone outside the shop and wait till the co- the, the, the bar across the street's really o- open and quiet- Hear ye.
• 32:50
Hear ye... so you can count those guys? No, no. Yeah, no. Yeah. [laughs] So seriously our, our, uh, our podcast hosting service gives us numbers.
• 32:56
And, um, uh, when, when we, at the top of the Weekly Dose of Fat, when fat biking wasn't a fad back in the old days, we were getting 3,500 people a week listening to that show.
• 33:06
So, you know, once, once you have a couple hundred in the can, people start listening to you for some reason. I don't know. Maybe they're just, it's comf- it's like comfort food. We know what we're gonna get. Yeah.
• 33:16
They're gonna be a bunch of jackasses, and that's what I need right now, so. It's all puddle. It's all pal puddle. Well, and I think just in general, people are listening to podcasts.
• 33:26
I mean, they just really enjoy listening to podcasts. I, you know, Spinner got me hooked on Joe Rogan. Oh. And from that, it split off to podcasts. [laughs] Oh, freaking Blubrry has a new...
• 33:39
So we use Blubrry, B-L-U-B-R-R-Y. That's where we host every f- uh, fatbike.com radio, includ- you know, including every show that, you know,
• 33:49
that we got, we got Gomez's show, the what's, uh, and, and then we have, uh, you know, we've got several people doing shows. But anyway, that's where we host them.
• 33:58
And we can host your show there too, until we run out of bandwidth, so [laughs] if you want. All right. I don't know. If you're gonna, if you're gonna do- Chewy's gonna need a lot of bandwidth, man...
• 34:07
so, so if you, if you release it on fatbike.com, you got a built-in audience of, you know- Four... many people, uh, that actually just go to that site anyway. So, um, let's see. Podcast statistics.
• 34:19
And that's what I would do. Well, we've had, so in the complete history of doing podcasting with Fatbike Radio, all the shows we've done have done 395,463, you know, total downloads. So that's, you know, whatever.
• 34:33
Oh my God. We're so close to 400,000. We're coming close. We're gonna... You know, so I, w- so here's the, here's the, here's the question. [laughs] I don't know what that means.
• 34:39
Are we gonna get to 400,000 or are COVID deaths gonna get to 400,000 first? Uh- Now, that's a-... there the COVID deaths are gonna get to 400,000 first... that's gonna be a challenge.
• 34:47
Only if you keep, only if you keep testing. Only if you keep testing. Yeah, only if you keep testing. I'm gonna test this every day and see how much it is, but. Yeah. Yeah.
• 34:55
You know, I mean, more testing- If you don't test, you'll never know. The numbers will never go up With more testing, you get more downloads, and downloads, you have more cases. All right, we're digressing.
• 35:00
And cases, you have more bags. Bogs. Bogs. So if we didn't have a thir- Frames... if we didn't have thermometers, we wouldn't have so many days over 80 degrees. Right. Exactly. See?
• 35:09
And not if we didn't have that many farmers' almanacs- And I would like to take this-... we wouldn't know what time it was...
• 35:13
I, I've been, I've been giving science a lot of thought lately, and I'm just gonna come out and say [clicks tongue] the Earth's flat. Yeah, man. Why not? Actually- You know?
• 35:22
Where's the, where's the Surly- Probably not the-... flat Earth sticker? There's a flat Earth version of a Surly sticker. [laughs] It's so awesome. So Chewy, here's the scoop. Basically for our show anyway- [laughs]...
• 35:31
um, the, the week that we release it, we get around f- 600 people listen to it. And then over a longer period of time and people kinda trickle in or get back episodes or whatever.
• 35:40
So, um, you know, and I'm looking, well, we're the only ones. Well, Adam's new podcast, 328, but he just put it up. And, you know, I mean, people listen to this stuff for some reason.
• 35:50
I have no idea why, but at least they do. I, yeah, I [laughs] well, this one I kind of get because people can get drunk to this one.
• 35:59
[laughs] You know, it, it's, it's not like there's pertinent information that you have to write down coming out of this one. Right. And you know, I mean- So it's super techy...
• 36:06
I'll be, like, on the, on the shows we did with, like when we had Ned Overend on, we got a lot of people listen to it 'cause people are interested in Ned Overend. You know? And if, if you're gonna get- Sure...
• 36:15
if you're gonna get people that are, you know, more famous on their own and they actually hopefully help pimp themselves on your show, so, you know. I think it's, it- Yeah, I, I- Besides, we have fun doing it.
• 36:26
I wouldn't- Well- I, I don't do this for any other reason than it's fun, but, you know. Oh, yeah, when it stops becoming fun, we need to- Which is why we wanted to get it going.
• 36:33
Well, and just think about when we, when we had, uh, Hollywood Henderson on at SingleSpeed USA when it was in Austin, Texas. He's fantastic. That's a guy that should be doing a podcast.
• 36:44
I mean, it would be music, it would be bikes, it would be about everything you could think of, 'cause he's, you know, he's got his own band. You know, he's fast as shit on a bicycle.
• 36:54
Um, there's no place he hasn't been to ride a bicycle, I don't think. So- Right... but, and he, and he, and he's got the voice for it. The deer are back behind our house too, so. Uh- Would- I'm Hollywood...
• 37:05
would fast as shit on a bicycle mean diarrhea? I'm just trying to think that through. Probably thinking at times. [laughs] Right. Hey, guess what? The combination's worked out well for me.
• 37:18
I know, we've, we've, you're, you're a good guest because we keep, you know, we just- Runnin' over... keep going, but here's something curious. Um, Chewy, I'm gonna bring another caller in on the show here.
• 37:28
Uh- Wait, it's Top of the Hill, too. Well, it's- Oh, for fuck's sake. Yep. All right, Top of the Hill again. [bell ringing] Just, you know, transparency with the audience. Right. Um, and- [laughs]
• 37:43
Uh, welcome to the radio program caller. Who do we have on the line? Yo. Ah, it's Big Sexy. Big Sexy. [laughs] Hey. I said, who else would, who else would sit in the queue for 24 minutes- It's-...
• 37:55
and listen to us be jackasses except for Big Sexy? Big Sexy. It's Big Sexy. Yeah. [laughs] How you doing, Big Sexy? Hey, how many Rumple Minzes did you have while you were waiting for us to get to you in the show queue?
• 38:07
Um, a few. A few. Where are you currently lo- Seven of that. Where, where in the world is Big Sexy? I, I am in Mankato, Minnesota. Nice. Oh, you're not that far from Chewy there. Oh. Yeah. That would be cool.
• 38:23
I'm in the, in Minnesota River Valley. You didn't stop and see me on your way through? And I'm ha- I'm, I'm... I'm sorry? You didn't stop and see me on your way through?
• 38:33
Oh, I, I, I didn't, I didn't know I was supposed to. I thought it was an automatic. Yeah, really. Oh, well, uh- This is one of those things people intrinsically know... I tell you what, man.
• 38:43
I, I've, I've been, I've been tooling around in the Minnesota, Wisconsin area for too long, and y- yeah, I'm heading to Des Moines, Iowa. Hallelujah.
• 38:52
I mean, get a picture with the capitol building, and then I'm heading to Kansas City. Right on. Nice. Cool. All, and Ch- Chewy, you've, have you heard Big Sexy before?
• 39:03
Because he's riding a Schwinn Meridian tricycle across the country to state capitols, and- Yeah... how many, what's your number now, uh, uh, Jason? What- Uh... how many, how many actual capitols? Currently 21.
• 39:18
21 state capitols. Dig. Outstanding. Currently 21. Outstanding. How was your- Huh?... trip through Minneapolis-St. Paul? How was your trip through St. Paul?
• 39:29
Uh, well, you know, I, I got family and friends up here, so I, I was, I was here for a while, and, uh, y- you know, I was creeping around and, you know, do- doing my thing, and, uh, it, it feels really good to be back on the road again.
• 39:45
Yeah. Nice. Um, w- the, the biggest problem is, is that I ordered, I ordered, uh, and, and I paid for... Now Schwinn, the good people at Schwinn Pacific Cycle, they've, they've always given me
• 40:01
like, uh, like, you know, free replacement parts and blah, blah, you know. They, they've always been really good about that. But I actually ordered and paid for- Ah... two tires
• 40:14
because I wanted, I wanted to get the back tires, like, up to speed, and they sent me 24-inch tires instead of 26-inch tires. Doh. And, uh, okay, okay, mistake has been made. Okay, that's fine. That's fine.
• 40:30
We'll, we'll, we'll, we'll get, we'll, we'll get to the bottom of it. We'll figure it out. So I ordered another, you know, and they, they said, "Okay, we're gonna send you all the tires."
• 40:43
And my brother just opened the box tonight and said they're 24-inch tires again. [laughs] Oh, bummer. Oh, Schwinn. So I'm like, "Hey, do you know the difference between a six and a four?" Not at Schwinn, apparently.
• 40:59
My God. Hey, Tony, take a look at that- And, and look-... thing, that blue thing... it's not a, it's, it's not an emergency. I, I, I, I can ride on this tire. I can ride on this tire all the way back to New Orleans.
• 41:10
It's o- it's okay. But, you know, hey, I paid for the damn tires, and now they've sent the wrong tires again. Well, you'll get it straightened out. They're, they're, they're, they're slipping. Yeah, man. All right.
• 41:27
Order the rims instead. [laughs] Rims. Order the rims instead. You get the 24-inch rims and you got two sets of tires, you're good to go. Right.
• 41:36
No, no, uh, no, no, what, what I'm saying i- i- it, it is the, the tire, I, I can, I can ride on the tire, but it's gonna start, uh, we're gonna start going through the tubes pretty soon here. Oh, that's too soon.
• 41:51
You know? Right on. All right. Well, was that three minutes with Big Sexy? I think that's another new segment. Ding, ding. Right on, Jason. Yeah. Keep rolling. Ram.
• 42:01
Call in anytime, but we're gonna be on a three-minute, we're gonna be on a three-minute egg timer when you call in, okay? [laughs] It will be just soft-boiled. Yeah, cool. Right on, dude. Soft, softie boil.
• 42:11
Call in anytime. We'll talk to you soon. Right on. Yeah, no, well, well, I'm, I'm head- I'm heading to Des Moines and Topeka and then Kansas City and then Indianapolis, and we'll, we'll see what happens. Oh, yeah.
• 42:22
We'll, we'll have plenty of chances to catch up with what's going on. Thanks very much. Later, Big Sexy. Yeah, dude. Later. Oh. See ya. So, uh, we still got you, Chewy? Yeah. Yeah, we got you. I'm here.
• 42:36
Um, so, I, the blue thing that I referenced when he was [laughs] having a Schwinn conniption, um- [laughs] The Schwinnption [laughs] The Schwinnption, uh, is, is, a, a dude, actually the guy that Tony left a note on his VW Cabriolet 'cause he has a hella grill that could be cool on there.
• 42:53
Uh, but independent of that, dropped off today some 1969, uh, Schwinn repair manuals. They're really cool. [laughs] That's fucking badass. They're like a binder with, three-ring binder type of a deal.
• 43:03
They're the three-ring binder. And they're, they're all up there, all the factory Schwinn repair books from, you know, if you were a dealer, from 1969. That shit's worth some money. Yeah, it's...
• 43:13
Well, it's, it is not in the original binder that, uh, look what's inside the, the cover. Is it, is it, like, school? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's got, like, what's the population of Wisconsin on there.
• 43:21
[laughs] It's, like, 3, 3.9 million. Oh. It's, like, 6 million now. We got it. So, 'cause that was way back in the olden times. This is- And I'm not exactly sure when the binder's from... 1960 census. Yeah.
• 43:30
Don't know, don't care. It's almost 400,000. Million. Or fr- 4 million. Sorry. Yeah. It's, zeros are a funny thing. They're called, you know... Oh. Bite me. [laughs] Are they called bite me by any chance? [laughs] Ooh.
• 43:43
Are they called bite me? Okay. Every, every kitty out here's got some claws. All right, Chewy, you got any parting thoughts before we wrap this sucker up?
• 43:51
Did you guys- 'Cause we're, y- well, here was- Did you guys, did you, does, did- I'm gonna, I'm gonna make this longer by saying that I think you should shoot for [laughs] a specific amount of time on your show, too.
• 44:00
Like, you know, 30 minutes is a good thing. Oh, yeah, definitely. And, and, and- I, I'd say shoot for 80...
• 44:04
or an hour, and fucking up and going, you know, 15 minutes over when you normally don't is, you know, that's ba- That's, uh, that's our bad. But did, did you guys- But this is Show 70, so...
• 44:11
Did you guys discuss, did you guys discuss the fact that Detroit Cycles is making a Schwinn Collegiate? No, not yet. That's something I didn't know.
• 44:21
And they're selling it at, and they're selling it at Walmart, and I believe the price is about 900 bucks. How is that gonna go over? Well, they- Like, shit. Layaway.
• 44:27
Some of the stuff they make here in the United States of America- Layaway... which is nice, you know? Walmart. People wanna buy- No, I, I, thought- Walmart has layaway... people wanna buy American. Walmart has layaway.
• 44:35
But they're gonna sell it at Walmart. Walmart has layaway apparently still. Peop- people still spend $300 on Collegiates, uh, y- used, right? I mean- Are they- Or more Sure...
• 44:44
are they still made in America, those models? The, yeah, yeah, yeah. The, no, these are the new ones. So, so, so Schwinn's owned by a company out of Canada, correct? Right, right. Well, right.
• 44:54
But, but, but Detroit Cycles, which is in Detroit, is going to start making a Schwinn Collegiate in, what'd they call it, college green.
• 45:02
And they're, and I, and it was something about, and I don't remember the price exactly. It was around 900 bucks. It's a cellphone. It's gonna be sold at Walmart.
• 45:08
I just can't imagine- But it's a US made bike selling for $900 at Walmart... well, you know, I mean, brothers, I, the, that's great... two of the owners of Walmart own what? The huge...
• 45:17
Two, two of the brothers at Walmart, oh, there we go, own that huge European- You have headphones so you can monitor your own damn self, just so you know. [laughs] I was eating popcorn. Yeah.
• 45:26
Well, t- tip the thing up- Oh... and point it inside your COVID hole there. Ah. [laughs] Um, I mean, two of the, two of the brothers, or family members from Wal- from Walmart's bought the European
• 45:40
apparel company, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're gonna start to peddle fancy bikes, but- Right. Oh. 'Cause they, just, they'll- But is that Detroit Bike made in America? But will they?
• 45:47
Or is this just a Chinese, Taiwanese bike coming in? There's, no, it's made in Detroit. It is, right? Yeah. That's what I thought. I, there's no way- So, I don't know, 900 bucks might not be bad...
• 45:53
you know, there's no way the Walton, at least Tom or whoever the guy is that's into cycling, is not good for cycling, 'cause Bentonville would not be on the map if it weren't for,
• 46:01
at least in cycling, for Walmart building, you know, all the trails there, basically. Right. Right, down there, yeah. All right, I'm just gonna let you guys go. I'm gonna go back and actually try to fix a bike here.
• 46:12
So I will talk to you guys next week. Is it an e-bike? Thank God for e-bikes. Nope. It's, it's actually, it's a, it's a Trek 7200. Good luck trying to find the, uh, uh, bottom, uh, derailing hanger for that thing.
• 46:23
Uh, uh, wheel- Hanging over the wheel house. Throw it out... uh, uh, no, Wheels Manufacturing doesn't make- Use a- No... use a, uh, use a, uh, um, Surly, uh, chain tensioner. That's what I have on my 720. Oh.
• 46:36
Make it single. Make it a single speed. It looks like- It, it, yeah. Except you have an 820. Yeah. Period.
• 46:40
Um, if, but if you have a- And it, and it, ends up, look like, ends up looking like a damn chainsaw while you're driv- driving it. It does. It is pretty cool. If you have a- It sure does...
• 46:47
if you have a dropout number from Wheels, let me know. I might, I've got a bunch in the drawer, so who knows.
• 46:52
All right, I'll give you a call tomorrow and I'll let you know this, 'cause I, I do have, I just don't have wood, but I do have it.
• 46:56
And nobody, and nobody I know, in fact, no stores in Rochester, no stores in Austin, Texas, and none of the, uh, wholesalers have one. Right on. So I'm kinda- We'll find one...
• 47:05
so I'll give you a call tomorrow and let you know this. Okay. All right, Chewy. All right. Thanks for calling in. All right, cool. Bye bye. See you guys. Talk to you next week. Bye. Bye. Now that I'm deaf.
• 47:14
Well, so yeah, uh, it's, uh, it's all about how the thing points at you. So if you're, like, talking like this, it doesn't work as well as if it's... Sibilance. There you go. Sibilance. Freaking hippie. Sibilance.
• 47:26
All right, everyone. Well, thank you for listening- Did someone hear a dog?... to our extended show. We didn't even get to all of our segments, thanks to Chewy being a very good guest again. Yeah. Or whatnot.
• 47:37
And of course, Big Sexy. Big Sexy. I like the new segment, Three Minutes with Big Sexy. With Big Sexy. And seriously, I wanna get an egg timer, just because we want to be concise. Thank you very much. Indeed, indeed.
• 47:46
