- 0:05Here's your host, Alex Garrett. Well, after some more health concerns and
- 0:24complications which did lead me to the hospital, I'm back home and maybe down
- 0:29the road we'll get into it. Before all the health stuff really escalated,
- 0:34there were three major things that happened in three days that I haven't even gotten
- 0:38to yet, and while I have a little energy, I wanted to talk
- 0:41about it today. Firstly, did you know that there's a bank Sea Museum
- 0:46in honor of the street artist Banksy opened on two seventy seven Canal Street.
- 0:51Yes, check it out. Here's a snippet of my conversation from the banks
- 0:56See Museum. All right, well, I'm here at the we can see
- 1:00a museum. You know, Banksy is such a mysterious figure. But I'm
- 1:03here with executive director William Meade. And for anybody who knows about Banksy,
- 1:07you know he keeps a very low, anonymous profile. You don't really know
- 1:11who he is, right, So how did you get him to agree to
- 1:14do all this work and put the museum together? Well, the thing is
- 1:18is in Banksy is an elusive figure. Nobody knows exactly who banks he is,
- 1:22Nobody knows exactly where he comes from Nobody knows his background and stuff.
- 1:26So what we actually did we hired people to come in in this entire exhibition
- 1:32is creating them anonymously. We have no idea who the people who created it
- 1:36are. We have no idea that they have the direct connection to Banksy and
- 1:40we don't. Now you obviously have an affinity for banks right, That's kind
- 1:42of how this whole project started. Or is that? How do we experience
- 1:48art? Now? How do we experience art in all of this art is
- 1:52taking He is a phrase and I really love it. It's called better out
- 1:56than Him. We experience art in an art museum. We experience aren't in
- 2:00places that people tell us to experience. Are his whole idea take it out
- 2:05under the streets. So and all of a sudden, when you take it
- 2:07out into the streets, then people start ripping it down or it's defaced or
- 2:12that sort of thing. But he creates something that exists for the time ineteen
- 2:15in twenty thirteen, he created thirty separate in New York alone. Or you
- 2:23know how many exists now? How many? One? Right? Well?
- 2:27The girl up, the girl with a hammer up on seventy ninth Streets,
- 2:30Okta check that out. It's the only one in him that exists at this
- 2:35point. All of them have been defaced or ripped down or taken away or
- 2:38something like that. So our purpose of this museum is really to honor works
- 2:43that would never be seen and also to honor them in a way. As
- 2:46you can see that we're doing here, we do it in the way closest
- 2:50to the way that it was originally done. I highly recommend you check it
- 2:53out to seventy seven Canal Street, the Banksy Museum. And you know,
- 2:58sometimes I run around, body does get a little worn down, and it
- 3:01was holding on. It was holding on because the next night, that was
- 3:06Wednesday. The next night, I ended up talking with a legend of the
- 3:10New York Yankees, Bam, Tino Martinez. Take a listen to a snippet
- 3:15of that conversation on the stage at the Viscardi Center, my old Stomping Grams
- 3:22grounds, And I was I had the honor, thanks to doctor Chris Rosen
- 3:28Lauren Marzo, of interviewing Tino Martinez on that very stage I grew up on
- 3:34in Albertson, New York, at the Viscardi Center. Well as the indie
- 3:44fans heard and my first month here at truble event, I found me accountable
- 3:49and good advances approval and a tevage approval and a sotical event. I heard
- 3:53the boos from the stadium for at a month say but I don't want to
- 3:58play here or in love you? What I got to help? The one
- 4:03story involved driving runs more importantly to start winning tonight and then fast League what
- 4:11they are thanks to Larry Davis, my longtime friend and friend of Renne Gron
- 4:15and of course the man who helped bringing out Tino Martinez to the Viscardi Center
- 4:19that night on Celebrity Night May sixteenth, for capturing that audio on the wings
- 4:29of the stage at Viscardi. And then the next night, so this was
- 4:31Wednesday, Thursday, so far uh And then the next night, a week
- 4:34ago Friday, someone very special got her master's degree at Sunny Empire State.
- 4:55That's right, my mom, Laurie Sue Brockway got her masters. She went
- 4:59from mastering mother to mastering in public history and then back to mastering motherhood.
- 5:03Is she had to come into the hospital and sure enough, I passed a
- 5:10gallstone this week. That's kind of the news. And there's been some complications
- 5:14from that, which is sidelining me for a little bit, but I'll be
- 5:16back out there soon enough. I'm just gonna need some time to do some
- 5:19follow ups. But I also want to say thank you to Mom and to
- 5:25Vic and to Gabby forgetting me through this entire week. And once again,
- 5:29Mom gotta say this. Just to get her degree was a lot, and
- 5:34she had the support of my stepdad, but she really she really knocked out
- 5:41of the park, even through loss, even through health issues, and I'm
- 5:45so proud of her, and I just want to say that today on the
