- 0:23I'm Strutty, I'm from the Dreadful Tides and I'm here with my man.
- 0:33How are you guys? Hey, hey, guys, how are you?
- 0:37Thanks for joining us, Thanks for having us. Hi absolutely pleasures. So
- 0:42we're here today because the Dreadful Tides have recently dropped your new single, Fire
- 0:47in the Hole. Now, how's the early reception been for it? Awesome?
- 0:53Like, it has actually really really surprised us this time, how much
- 0:58everyone has just loved the track. You know, the amount of messages we've
- 1:02got rough people, and the appreciation from so many different people. We've also
- 1:10you know, managed to get airplane multiple countries already this early on for us
- 1:14to sort of start picking up other countries, and you know, getting out
- 1:17that far is pretty all awesome. So the reception has been phenomenal. Oh,
- 1:25so tell us a bit more about the song from a musical point of
- 1:26view and what you're going for with it. It started off, in all
- 1:30honesty as a just a riff, that mean, what we were messing around
- 1:37with, and we just said, we just need a cool opening track for
- 1:40gigs, not even for for recording purposes, just for gigs. So we
- 1:45kind of me and Leland kind of messed around with a few things, and
- 1:48the music has stayed pretty solid for that track the whole time, so we
- 1:53were we were pretty happy with that. We actually had some different lyrics for
- 1:56it originally except the chorus. The chorus was still the same the whole fire
- 2:00in the Hole, and then when Jimmy come on board, he kind of
- 2:04had a bit of a different take on the song and change changed the lyrics
- 2:07apart from the chorus, and we were we were just like, yeah,
- 2:09that's it. That suits, suits the music. So we actually went into
- 2:14the studio to record the song to use that song in our back pocket as
- 2:17a bit of a if we need it, and then once we heard it,
- 2:21we were like, yeah, no, we've got to get this thing
- 2:23out. She's She's an absolutely crushing song, guys. But it's a much
- 2:29heavier direction for the band. So was that a conscious effort to go heavier
- 2:32or did it just happen. It's really just developed as we've developed as a
- 2:38band. I think the big part about our last you know heavy single,
- 2:45which was for our Play, was that really kind of started defining our sound.
- 2:52It really started to just develop you know, mine and studies, working
- 2:54relationship, where where's were starting to come on board then so the sound and
- 3:00naturally got a bit heavier and then finding the whole with this let out a
- 3:04bit more to it. Yeah, and the son also introduces your new vocalist,
- 3:09Jimmy so introduced us to him. Tell us, tell us what he
- 3:14brings to the band. How's he fitting in? Jimmy is fitting in very
- 3:19well. He's he's six foot five, so he stands out in any room,
- 3:23which yeah, but he's got a great presence about him as well,
- 3:27Like he's just a front man, like the definition of him is just a
- 3:30front man. He smashes it out every night, but he's another he's another
- 3:37teammate really in the band that it comes to the party with ideas and helps
- 3:40with our songwriting stuff, which is really kind of made it better for us
- 3:44as well because it normally it used to be just me and Leland would do
- 3:46a lot of the writing, but now we've got someone there with it an
- 3:50actual frontman point of view, where it's made it our lives easier because I'm
- 3:53a GA half player, Leland's a drummer, so we kind of we just
- 3:57work it out together. But he's he's really jumped in and I don't know
- 4:00about Lee, but for me, it feels like I've known all these guys
- 4:03for twenty thirty years, which to me, in my experience in life,
- 4:10when you meet someone that you can you have that instant connection that's worth grabbing
- 4:14onto. So that's where I'm at, Yes, right, So aside from
- 4:17being a good backup, rightman, what does he actually bring to the band?
- 4:24Ah man, Jimmy, Jimmy's just the final piece of the puzzle.
- 4:28Really. He brings a very like mind sentence and when he writes with sense,
- 4:47you know how me and we'd like to leave a lot of room for
- 4:50the vocals. Is just really good at understanding that he can take that control
- 4:56and run with it and really just add some emotion to the tracks that as
- 5:00Stradie said, he's just an awesome dude. He's a heap of fun and
- 5:04honestly he's just Yeah, the fourth brother come back into the mix and off
- 5:10we go, like Yeah. Now, the press release calls firing the whole
- 5:14your war cry? Would you agree with that statement? Yeah, look,
- 5:19I'll say yes, But I also feel that we've got some other stuff in
- 5:23the works. It could also be a bit of a war cry as well.
- 5:27But this we've messed around with this song for a little bit and it
- 5:31always seems to be a bit of a crowd pleaser, and I mean,
- 5:34how can you not love it? It's just straight hard rock and rock.
- 5:39Thanks right now, speaking of other songs and then potential future war cries,
- 5:44you've got more singles planned for June, August, and October, I believe.
- 5:47So are they similar to Fire in the Hole or are they a bit
- 5:51different? Again? Well, the next four tracks were must coming out and
- 6:02saying who we are you know, and a lot of all the tracks were
- 6:05actually written and the music was recorded before Jimmy originally come on, So we
- 6:11already had these ready to go, and he's really just gone through and added
- 6:13his element on top. The bonus with that is we've had time to develop
- 6:16the song and make sure that they're right. Next song for us is jumping
- 6:20back on a bit more of a commercial way to go, and we've written
- 6:29at solidly just to make sure we get the radio airplane and really sort of
- 6:33focus the next single there. Our first single was really you know, Fire
- 6:38is about just introducing Jimmy and making sure you know, everyone knows who Jimmy
- 6:43is and everyone remembers him. After that, we've got some pretty awesome surprises
- 6:46for you. Actually, it's way to hear him. But are they part
- 6:49of a bigger album picture, guys, or are they just standalone singles?
- 6:55Look, at the moment, we're still working out what we want to do.
- 6:58We think that the track all have potential, so I feel that we
- 7:01would like to release each track as a single. Whether at the end of
- 7:05that we put together an EP with a couple of special bonuses, We're not
- 7:10sure just yet. But as Lee said, the musically these tracks have been
- 7:14recorded for I think April last year, so we've been sitting on them for
- 7:17a little bit. So it's really just a way to introduce Jimmy to everybody,
- 7:21as Lee said, but I think each song deserves their own their own
- 7:27time, So at the moment, I feel that we're just going to push
- 7:30the singles and then look at maybe doing something a little bit later on after
- 7:32these these tracks are kind of out. So a lot of those lines guys,
- 7:38like how would you say that the Dreadful Pride sound has changed or grown
- 7:42from your debut single Prazy in twenty twenty one to this new mature or you're
- 7:46putting out That's that's a great question because it comes from so many different levels.
- 7:59The biggest thing, we just keep growing closer, you know, the
- 8:05way that we write. We are really looking at music and speak for itself
- 8:13and the way that we can put it and what we can do. So
- 8:16it just keeps growing, That's the thing. It just keeps growing and getting
- 8:20better and better. Yeah. For me, I feel so the songs like
- 8:26Crazy and stuff like that, we kind of a lot of those songs were
- 8:31written kind of before we were I would say, an actual band for me.
- 8:35Now that we've kind of grown to know each other and know how each
- 8:37other functions and works, you then start writing material that you know that.
- 8:43For example, if I write a guitar if I now write a guitar riff
- 8:46that I know Lee how, I know how he plays drump, so I
- 8:48know what he's going to want to do. We then throw it to Wes
- 8:52and Lean and I then know how Wez is going to feel his certain part
- 8:56of the song. So I feel that you're writing just naturally adapts as you
- 9:01grow further along in your relationship as a band. And I feel the same
- 9:05with Ricky. Our producer. He's obviously grown to know us a bit more
- 9:09now, so he knows how we can work in the studio. He knows
- 9:13what works for us and what doesn't. So I feel together as a as
- 9:16a band and a team with all the people around us, I feel that
- 9:20you just naturally grow closer and it just it adapts naturally. Now, I
- 9:26believe you've got some interstate shows coming up later this year. Maybe have you
- 9:30announce semer am I jumping the gun. You're probably getting in a bit early,
- 9:35which is which is fine. Whispers are already getting around, so people
- 9:48have been honored us, and we're going to be starting in April. We're
- 9:54going to sorry, July, July twenty, we're going to be going to
- 10:00Adelaide, and then later on in the year we're going to be seeing Brisbane
- 10:03try and get through Sydney as well, and and yeah we're going to look
- 10:11at Tazzy at the end of the year. And yeah, we're going to
- 10:16get a few announcements out over the next few months. Very nice guys.
- 10:20All right, well, thanks very much for your time. It's been appropriate.
- 10:22As always, A single fire in the hole is now now And if
- 10:24you've never heard the dreadful times before. I don't often do this, but
- 10:28they've got the heavy seal of approval. Check them out because it's a fucking
- 10:31great song. Shere's this smile lie now, no want of the same,
- 11:09show me the home, the noon. What's it take in the gop from

- 11:39fire in the fire, fire, fire fire, and the helles see in
