- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:11Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:16Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:18Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. It is Nate Tice Friday. Nate Tice, Yahoo Sports.
- 0:24Speaker 2: What's going on, man?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Not too much. Nate Tice Friday. I'll take it. I'll
- 0:28Speaker 3: take it.
- 0:29Speaker 2: You know, it's a, it's a rotating Marquis these days,
- 0:32Speaker 2: you know, it is.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I like the Friday show. That's perfect. Yeah. You can
- 0:35Speaker 3: brand that and make sure you have the fish too.
- 0:37Speaker 3: You know, that's why I associate it's fish Fridays. That's
- 0:40Speaker 3: Nate Tice, Nate Tyson, fish fries. That's what we got
- 0:42Speaker 3: going on.
- 0:42Speaker 2: There we go. We'll make it happen, man.
- 0:44Speaker 1: We got a lot of, a lot of NFL action
- 0:47Speaker 1: coming up this weekend. this feels crazy to me, but
- 0:51Speaker 1: I have to be honest about it. Like, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 1: this game is interesting when people say that we chase
- 0:55Speaker 1: clicks and I am not chasing clicks. However, the clicks
- 0:59Speaker 1: are often an indication of what y'all want to talk
- 1:01Speaker 1: about or what it is that y'all want to hear about.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And I don't know if you experienced this on the,
- 1:06Speaker 1: on your show. Actually, I know you do. Cause they
- 1:07Speaker 1: coming down on my man, Charles McDonald's head. He got
- 1:10Speaker 1: a podcast called football 301 with friend of the program,
- 1:13Speaker 1: Charles McDonald. Um, The people really get charged up about
- 1:17Speaker 1: Shadual Sanders. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me,
- 1:20Speaker 1: but the people really get charged up about him. He
- 1:23Speaker 1: is going to start on Sunday. Dylan Gabriel is still
- 1:27Speaker 1: in concussion protocol. And so he is going to start.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you, brother. I don't even know
- 1:32Speaker 1: who it is that they're going to play against. I
- 1:34Speaker 1: just know that he's going to be out there and
- 1:37Speaker 1: you play football, college football.
- 1:39Speaker 2: As a quarterback. This is kind of your, this is
- 1:41Speaker 2: your thing. This is what you do. What, what, What
- 1:44Speaker 2: did you see on Sunday?
- 1:46Speaker 3: A guy that I saw in the preseason, which was
- 1:49Speaker 3: a guy that's not very big and also runs backwards
- 1:52Speaker 3: in the pocket and kind of seems like a step
- 1:55Speaker 3: behind running an NFL offense, which is what he looked
- 1:58Speaker 3: like in the preseason. Even worse. when talking about him
- 2:01Speaker 3: as a prospect, and I think people, I mean, people
- 2:04Speaker 3: definitely got out over their skis about him because I
- 2:07Speaker 3: always considered him and Charles did too, Charles McDonald. So
- 2:09Speaker 3: I'm glad you actually mentioned that because when that tweet,
- 2:12Speaker 3: that clip got posted, uh, And at first I was like, yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: this will get some, you know, some people probably get
- 2:17Speaker 3: mad about this, but whatever. And then I wake up
- 2:19Speaker 3: the next day and I was like, oh my God.
- 2:21Speaker 3: And because I get tagged in it and I'm like,
- 2:23Speaker 3: and my guy Charles isn't even on Twitter anymore. So
- 2:26Speaker 3: I just, I just see all these and I'm like
- 2:28Speaker 3: sending it to him. Are you seeing this? But no,
- 2:31Speaker 3: but even going into the draft was, I thought he
- 2:34Speaker 3: was a day two guy. It was how I kind
- 2:36Speaker 3: of put it, like a third round grade. I thought
- 2:38Speaker 3: a lot of these quarterbacks were, I thought Jackson Dart
- 2:40Speaker 3: as well was like a late second, early third rounder.
- 2:44Speaker 3: And watching him on Sunday, that's exactly what he looks like.
- 2:46Speaker 3: He looks like a guy that needs time, a guy
- 2:49Speaker 3: that's a more of a project. But then my argument
- 2:51Speaker 3: got to about Schroeder was what traits are you working
- 2:54Speaker 3: with here? Like, and this is actually some of my
- 2:56Speaker 3: discussion with JJ McCarthy right now, too, where it's like, yeah,
- 2:59Speaker 3: if it's a project with the guy that needs time,
- 3:01Speaker 3: I want that guy to look like Anthony Richardson and
- 3:03Speaker 3: play like Anthony Richardson. Or I want a Josh Allen
- 3:05Speaker 3: if you want the high end of that or a Culpepper.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I feel like we talk about every time I'm on
- 3:09Speaker 3: this show, but you want the guy that you can
- 3:12Speaker 3: grow into being a freak. You know, you want the
- 3:15Speaker 3: freaky traits and then we work on the polish. But
- 3:17Speaker 3: if I'm trying to polish this guy to be a
- 3:20Speaker 3: fine average starter, is it worth the, is the juice
- 3:24Speaker 3: worth the squeeze? But watching him on Sunday, that's what
- 3:27Speaker 3: it looked like. It looked like a guy that hadn't
- 3:28Speaker 3: played much or had like looks like he's behind the
- 3:31Speaker 3: eight ball with an NFL offense. And also just like
- 3:34Speaker 3: some of the trade stuff and some of the play
- 3:35Speaker 3: styles were behind, too, as far as with the pocket movement.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Bullets started flying and he reverted to his worst tendencies,
- 3:41Speaker 3: which was drifting back in the pocket. And they go
- 3:44Speaker 3: against the Raiders this week who don't have the craziest
- 3:46Speaker 3: defense in the world, but they still have Max Crosby.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And I'm curious how many Tom Brady, Shader Sanders kind
- 3:51Speaker 3: of discussions happen after this game. I'm sure it's going
- 3:54Speaker 3: to be exhausting with some of those connections, I'm sure,
- 3:56Speaker 3: with the pre-show and everything.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Yeah, like improper conversations.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I mean, there's no way in the world that Fox
- 4:03Speaker 1: is sending Tom Brady to cover no Browns and Raiders,
- 4:05Speaker 1: but it would be great if they had. So we
- 4:07Speaker 1: could see him talking to coaches he shouldn't be talking to,
- 4:10Speaker 1: talking to a player that he probably shouldn't be talking to.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I love they point out every time he's on. They're like,
- 4:16Speaker 3: he doesn't have a headset on. He doesn't have a headset.
- 4:18Speaker 3: They make sure the commentators go, CeCe, it's okay. It's
- 4:20Speaker 3: above board. He doesn't have a headset on. It's like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: we got it. We got it. We got it, guys.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But no, I will say this about Shador for me because,
- 4:28Speaker 1: as I said early in the season, no, he's not
- 4:31Speaker 1: in a position to be successful.
- 4:32Speaker 2: He plays for the Browns.
- 4:34Speaker 1: There's not a single person on that team that's being
- 4:36Speaker 1: put into a position to be successful.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Dylan Gabriel.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Was not put into a position to be successful. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: I say this as somebody that doesn't think there is
- 4:42Speaker 1: a position for Dylan Gabriel to be successful. Like you
- 4:45Speaker 1: and I both are like, hey, man, you got to
- 4:47Speaker 1: be really super talented if you're going to be a
- 4:49Speaker 1: little guy playing quarterback or a short guy playing quarterback.
- 4:52Speaker 2: You play college football with Russell Wilson.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And I remember when he came out and this is,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you know, I was I was covering him when he
- 4:59Speaker 1: was a freshman at NC State.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And the argument was if this guy can't do it
- 5:04Speaker 1: at this size, then that means that nobody can do
- 5:07Speaker 1: it at this size. Like that's how talented he is.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And he did it at this size.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Um, Dylan Gabriel is not Russell Wilson in terms of
- 5:17Speaker 1: the talent. Like this isn't, I don't think this is
- 5:19Speaker 1: going to go well for him. Nobody's in a position
- 5:21Speaker 1: to be successful playing for that team. Joe Flacco, who
- 5:23Speaker 1: looks like an NFL quarterback again, playing for the Bengals.
- 5:26Speaker 1: He was not in a position to be successful playing
- 5:28Speaker 1: for the Browns. Like we need to get that out
- 5:30Speaker 1: of the way. All of that's to say, I think
- 5:32Speaker 1: that we could go ahead and start looking at the
- 5:33Speaker 1: future when it comes to Shador. Like, what's going to
- 5:36Speaker 1: happen in the offseason with him? Because I feel fairly
- 5:39Speaker 1: confident the Browns are going to draft a quarterback in
- 5:41Speaker 1: the top five of this draft and Sanders is not
- 5:44Speaker 1: going to play for them anymore.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Who's going to sign up for this?
- 5:49Speaker 1: I'm very, very curious of that because it feels like You, A,
- 5:53Speaker 1: at the very least, need somebody who thinks that he
- 5:55Speaker 1: could turn into a backup quarterback, which is still not certain, right?
- 5:59Speaker 1: So you need somebody who thinks that he could develop
- 6:02Speaker 1: while also having the patience to recognize, or maybe you
- 6:05Speaker 1: just need a Lamar Jackson or somebody that starts ahead
- 6:08Speaker 1: of him to where nobody's calling for the backup, right?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Like where Shador said he.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Didn't want to play for the Ravens, for example, because
- 6:16Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson's going to be there.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I'm never going to play.
- 6:18Speaker 1: No, no, no. That was going to be best case
- 6:19Speaker 1: scenario for you. was to be somewhere where you weren't
- 6:21Speaker 1: going to play. And maybe you could lay low and
- 6:23Speaker 1: get better.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly what it has to be. Because, I mean,
- 6:27Speaker 3: even just this summer, people were asking Kevin Stefanski, why
- 6:31Speaker 3: is he fourth? And it's like, well, there's two vets ahead.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You know, it's just even taking reps and everything. And
- 6:38Speaker 3: there's just the understanding of that, where you are in
- 6:39Speaker 3: the hierarchy, and understanding that you're not getting these one reps.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I totally agree with you. I think no matter what,
- 6:45Speaker 3: the thing with the Browns, too, is their offensive line
- 6:48Speaker 3: is a ticking time bomb. As far as, it's already
- 6:50Speaker 3: weak this year, but it's older. Like all their guys,
- 6:53Speaker 3: I think all their starters are above 30, which is,
- 6:56Speaker 3: I'm 36 and I'm acting like, oh man, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 3: just all these guys are above 30. But in sports terms,
- 7:01Speaker 3: that is old. And all of them are contract wise,
- 7:04Speaker 3: I think three or four of their starters, their contracts
- 7:06Speaker 3: are up after this year. So, all right. So if
- 7:08Speaker 3: I'm dropping in a young quarterback, another one, say Fernando Mendoza,
- 7:11Speaker 3: I'm just throwing a name out there. Say we throw
- 7:13Speaker 3: him out there. He's going to be behind a reworked
- 7:15Speaker 3: offensive line with potentially Jerry Judy as your best pass catcher.
- 7:19Speaker 3: which is not a winning proposition. Got a cool running back,
- 7:22Speaker 3: Quincy on Jenkins. He's cool. You know, he's a fun player. Well, well, well. Well, well,
- 7:27Speaker 3: on field, on field, on field, on field.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yes. Yes.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Art and artist. Separate that completely. Yes, I know. I
- 7:36Speaker 3: always have to do that. And then actually that's funny,
- 7:39Speaker 3: but Harold fan and their tight end from Bowling Green,
- 7:41Speaker 3: Charles actually compared him to Aaron Hernandez and, As far
- 7:45Speaker 3: as a prospect. And he just kept having to go
- 7:46Speaker 3: on field only on field only. So yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 7:50Speaker 3: But they actually move kind of the same. It's kind
- 7:52Speaker 3: of funny. But they on field, but no, they, but
- 7:55Speaker 3: watching all that, that's a totally reworked team. Like you
- 7:58Speaker 3: need several pass catchers. You need at least two receivers.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Cedric Tillman's interesting, but he has concussion issues amongst other things.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Judy is a two at best. And so you need
- 8:07Speaker 3: a number one receiver. You need at least three starters
- 8:09Speaker 3: on the offensive line. And then you're going to drop
- 8:11Speaker 3: in a young quarterback there. So they're already going to
- 8:14Speaker 3: be still messy going into next year. Maybe more positivity
- 8:18Speaker 3: because then they have their guy, which originally was– Dylan
- 8:22Speaker 3: Gabriel was their guy in the third round that they overdrafted.
- 8:24Speaker 2: That was crazy.
- 8:27Speaker 3: That's the thing about when he got drafted.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Actually, that's the thing that gets him in trouble with Shador. Yes.
- 8:31Speaker 2: That pick was so crazy.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yes. Even people that like Dylan Gabriel that I talked to,
- 8:36Speaker 3: I was not a fan because I'm kind of a sizist,
- 8:39Speaker 3: especially a quarterback. But I– Watched it. I'm like, okay,
- 8:42Speaker 3: fifth rounder, you know, maybe a fourth round guy. You know,
- 8:45Speaker 3: sometimes that happens with QBs. You take them to the
- 8:47Speaker 3: fourth of a team that likes them. But then going
- 8:49Speaker 3: into the third round, especially in that QB draft, you're
- 8:52Speaker 3: really saying we like them, this group above everybody else.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And you mentioned him with Russ. I was actually talking
- 8:58Speaker 3: to your producer about this before the show. It's not
- 9:00Speaker 3: even just height with these guys. It's weight. And weight
- 9:04Speaker 3: with a quarterback really matters. And it's not just because
- 9:07Speaker 3: to run a guy over. It's standing in the pocket.
- 9:10Speaker 3: And when a guy grabs at you and pulls at you, like,
- 9:12Speaker 3: do you just get falling down or are you knocked
- 9:14Speaker 3: down easily? You see this issue happening with J.J. McCarthy
- 9:17Speaker 3: right now, which was an issue I had before the
- 9:19Speaker 3: season or before the draft with him. Jane Daniels, it
- 9:22Speaker 3: was more of injury concerns, and he has the speed
- 9:24Speaker 3: to get away from it. But the weight of these guys,
- 9:28Speaker 3: you know, it's a combat sport. It's a physical sport.
- 9:30Speaker 3: And combat sports have weight classes. And so when I
- 9:33Speaker 3: watch and when I see a guy like Dylan Gabriel
- 9:35Speaker 3: that's a buck 90, and I would say a fine
- 9:37Speaker 3: athlete but not an exceptional athlete, And a fine arm,
- 9:40Speaker 3: not an exceptional arm. A guy like Russ is 215?
- 9:45Speaker 3: He's a big, thick guy who was drafted to play baseball.
- 9:49Speaker 3: So he has a baseball arm and also launches it
- 9:51Speaker 3: that way. But he also has the stoutness and the
- 9:53Speaker 3: strength to hold up. It wasn't just the height. It's
- 9:55Speaker 3: the weight. And it's a four or five guy and
- 9:57Speaker 3: he's yes and he's an exceptional and even a guy
- 10:00Speaker 3: like kyler who is the actual the bare minimum i
- 10:02Speaker 3: think baseball arm stout you know he's not the biggest
- 10:06Speaker 3: guy but he's a little stout for how small he
- 10:08Speaker 3: is but again those are the things that are difference
- 10:11Speaker 3: between a guy like dylan gabriel who had average arm
- 10:13Speaker 3: average quickness average stuff like that on top of being
- 10:15Speaker 3: smaller than those guys So I just always kind of like–
- 10:19Speaker 3: but this also just ties in with Shadur. He's not
- 10:21Speaker 3: the biggest guy either. Going into– he put on a
- 10:24Speaker 3: little combine weight, but I think he was $ 1. 96, $ 1. 97
- 10:27Speaker 3: his last year at Colorado. $ 2. 05 is the bare minimum
- 10:31Speaker 3: you have to be at. There's not a long history
- 10:33Speaker 3: of quarterbacks being successful below $ 2. 05. It's like Joe Montana,
- 10:37Speaker 3: Kirk Cousins, Jeff Garcia– aaron brooks like if you yeah
- 10:43Speaker 3: but it's not a long history all those guys are
- 10:45Speaker 3: drafted in the third round the fourth round undrafted not
- 10:48Speaker 3: guys drafted in the first round top 15 and all
- 10:51Speaker 3: that so but even a guy with like chador that's
- 10:53Speaker 3: something that has some concerns not the greatest athlete he's
- 10:55Speaker 3: not the biggest guy either and so hopefully you have
- 10:57Speaker 3: the arm but right now he's not hanging in the
- 10:59Speaker 3: pocket like you wanted to see to like make this
- 11:01Speaker 3: be successful at this point in time of course.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Well, I also think the Browns are at a bind
- 11:07Speaker 1: no matter what they do. If the plan is we're
- 11:09Speaker 1: going to get a quarterback next year.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You follow these guys more closely than I do. I
- 11:14Speaker 1: haven't seen a reason to be excited about a quarterback
- 11:16Speaker 1: that's going to be in this draft yet. Whether we're
- 11:18Speaker 1: talking about Mateer, we're talking about Mendoza.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Mendoza. Who are we?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Like, honestly.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah, like to this day, Carson Beck is probably the
- 11:28Speaker 1: look-the-part guy about all of these.
- 11:30Speaker 2: That's a terrible idea.
- 11:32Speaker 1: But at least when I've looked at him, I've been like, okay,
- 11:34Speaker 1: that looks like an NFL quarterback from time to time.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But I don't see any quarterback yet that's like, oh,
- 11:38Speaker 1: this is what you want to do.
- 11:40Speaker 3: And that's what I've graded these guys now. I just
- 11:43Speaker 3: did a big board. I had four guys in my
- 11:46Speaker 3: top 30. But the thing was, none of them are
- 11:49Speaker 3: like what I call a true blue chip guy, which
- 11:52Speaker 3: goes in the top five of any draft class, period.
- 11:55Speaker 3: it's a like Mendoza. I like he's my QB one.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I actually, of course, I actually feel like I'm in
- 12:02Speaker 3: a safe place here. I really like sellers, Lenore sellers
- 12:05Speaker 3: from South Carolina. I think you and I have the
- 12:08Speaker 3: same quarterback archetype that we've lost. Um, and actually his
- 12:11Speaker 3: film is way better than he's getting credit for. He's
- 12:14Speaker 3: way further along than Anthony Richardson was. It's just South
- 12:17Speaker 3: Carolina's offense lines. One of the worst I've ever watched.
- 12:19Speaker 3: His receivers are running the wrong routes. He's better than
- 12:21Speaker 3: people realize, but I'm curious what, He might transfer instead.
- 12:25Speaker 3: He's really young for his grade, too. He's the one
- 12:28Speaker 3: guy that has that upside of being like a true dude. Mendoza,
- 12:32Speaker 3: to me, has a very high floor and a pretty
- 12:34Speaker 3: good ceiling. But to him, it's like his peak is
- 12:36Speaker 3: like QB 12, QB 10. Good starter, but not the
- 12:41Speaker 3: dude that you want. If you're a team like the Jets,
- 12:44Speaker 3: that might be a breath of fresh air. You know, like, oh,
- 12:47Speaker 3: my God, we finally just got someone that's competent. Maybe
- 12:49Speaker 3: the Browns want that. But I agree with you. It's
- 12:51Speaker 3: a lot of what I call green chip prospects. good prospects,
- 12:54Speaker 3: but not, oh, got to get this guy in the
- 12:55Speaker 3: top 10 like Caleb Williams or Drake Mayweather. Those guys
- 12:59Speaker 3: were purple chips, $ 500 chips to me. These guys, but
- 13:04Speaker 3: there's Ty Simpson from Alabama. But I think he has
- 13:06Speaker 3: some accuracy issues. He's not very big either, and he
- 13:08Speaker 3: hasn't started a lot of games. Dante Moore, I do like.
- 13:11Speaker 2: He gives you a head scratcher or two a game.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Every game. He's fun because he tries some shit, but
- 13:17Speaker 3: he also gets himself in trouble because of that. And again,
- 13:20Speaker 3: not very big. Dante Moore, I think long term, I
- 13:24Speaker 3: think he should go back another year. but it's because
- 13:27Speaker 3: I'm more excited about what he's developing and what he
- 13:30Speaker 3: is showing. He's a little safe right now, but, man,
- 13:32Speaker 3: he's got something to him. He's got some good accuracy.
- 13:34Speaker 3: He's got decent size and everything. He's a guy, but
- 13:37Speaker 3: I think he'll go back. But we'll see how that
- 13:39Speaker 3: all goes. Tell a guy that they're going to the
- 13:41Speaker 3: top 10, everything changes. To your point, there's no real–
- 13:45Speaker 3: Let me ask you a question on.
- 13:45Speaker 1: That right fast because you just hit on something I
- 13:48Speaker 1: think is important. With the new world order and these
- 13:51Speaker 1: guys actually getting some money, Like, does a 2026 version
- 13:55Speaker 1: of Anthony Richardson, for example, go back to school?
- 13:57Speaker 3: I think he does. Or transfer somewhere.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And so that's going to be interesting to see with
- 14:01Speaker 1: some of these dudes. And of course, always, what do
- 14:04Speaker 1: you hear back on your draft grade? Because the thing
- 14:06Speaker 1: we've learned, remember when it was like, oh my gosh,
- 14:08Speaker 1: Matt Leiter came back to school.
- 14:09Speaker 2: That's so crazy. Clearly, he was told you need to
- 14:12Speaker 2: come back to school.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Jake Locker.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Remember when Jake Locker came back and everybody was like, yo,
- 14:17Speaker 1: this is crazy. Nah, they told him to come back
- 14:20Speaker 1: to school. You know, but with these guys, if you're
- 14:23Speaker 1: hearing you're going to be a top 15 pick, you
- 14:25Speaker 1: should probably go.
- 14:25Speaker 2: But if you can still make five or $ 6.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Million, which some of these guys can make by going
- 14:30Speaker 1: back to school.
- 14:32Speaker 3: That's no, you're exactly right. I actually looked at it.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Spotracks got it. And I like, so how much are
- 14:38Speaker 3: these guys making? Like the top quarterbacks in college, what?
- 14:40Speaker 3: Four mil, three mil. somewhere around there three to five
- 14:44Speaker 3: mil somewhere around there and like the break-even point okay
- 14:47Speaker 3: is pick number 12 this year in the 2025 class
- 14:50Speaker 3: got four million his first year he made 22 million
- 14:53Speaker 3: over four years okay so are you a top 15
- 14:57Speaker 3: pick or not if you're not transfer go back to
- 15:00Speaker 3: school like that's what it's become and and i don't
- 15:03Speaker 3: blame guys some guys are gonna change that and be
- 15:05Speaker 3: like no i want to get to the league and
- 15:06Speaker 3: i totally get that but a guy like sellers who
- 15:09Speaker 3: i think should go in the top 12. And I
- 15:11Speaker 3: think if he does enter the process, coaches are going
- 15:15Speaker 3: to watch him and then see the traits. He's supposed
- 15:17Speaker 3: to be a great kid, all this stuff. But the
- 15:19Speaker 3: thing is, all right, well, if that's not a guarantee
- 15:21Speaker 3: and he's hearing, oh, you might be a day two guy, well,
- 15:23Speaker 3: then there's transfer and everything because now they can get
- 15:26Speaker 3: that money. They can get top 12 pick money. But
- 15:29Speaker 3: that's what I've been kind of looking at. It's like
- 15:30Speaker 3: for them, that has to be the break-even point for
- 15:32Speaker 3: some of them because why– Enter the draft when I
- 15:36Speaker 3: could just get paid another $ 4 million and be the
- 15:39Speaker 3: dude on campus again. Like why just get that guaranteed stuff?
- 15:42Speaker 3: So I totally agree with you. That's a totally new
- 15:45Speaker 3: element that we have to deal with, which we'll see
- 15:47Speaker 3: what kind of the repercussions is as the years go
- 15:49Speaker 3: along with it.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And now we add all of this and it comes
- 15:52Speaker 1: down to where I kind of started with this is
- 15:54Speaker 1: where in the world.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Is Shador Sanders going to wind up?
- 15:58Speaker 1: Because he can't come back to the Browns after this season,
- 16:02Speaker 1: unless he is lights out for the rest of the
- 16:04Speaker 1: year and makes himself look like a starter, which I
- 16:07Speaker 1: think is too much. I think it was too much
- 16:08Speaker 1: to ask a Dylan Gabriel. I think it was too
- 16:09Speaker 1: much to almost too much to ask Kenny Piggy at
- 16:11Speaker 1: this point, but it's, it's a lot to ask if
- 16:14Speaker 1: he doesn't do that. I think that something about that
- 16:17Speaker 1: relationship does feel not good, right? Like he clearly the,
- 16:21Speaker 1: the staff does not seem invested in him in any
- 16:24Speaker 1: sort of way, which means he probably has to go
- 16:26Speaker 1: somewhere else to get this done.
- 16:27Speaker 2: But, Who wants to sign up for this at this point?
- 16:33Speaker 3: The thing was, too, the draft when he fell. He fell,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I thought, to day two, which is where I thought
- 16:40Speaker 3: you would end up, actually, because of just some of
- 16:42Speaker 3: the stuff like, okay, this is what his talent is.
- 16:44Speaker 3: And then it gets to a point, if you're a backup,
- 16:46Speaker 3: if you're a development guy, usually it's out of sight,
- 16:49Speaker 3: out of mind. You're just dealing with the scout team
- 16:52Speaker 3: and then the quarterback coach or the assistant quarterback coach.
- 16:54Speaker 3: We work on some stuff day to day. And that's
- 16:58Speaker 3: it during the season. And that's another thing is people
- 16:59Speaker 3: are like, he didn't get reps with the ones he's
- 17:01Speaker 3: been hurt. He's hurt his hamstring. He's hurt. He sat
- 17:05Speaker 3: out of practices with a sore shoulder, always doing a
- 17:08Speaker 3: scout team. And he's hurt again, bring up the size stuff.
- 17:11Speaker 3: But that's the thing too, is that you, there's not
- 17:13Speaker 3: a lot of reps to go around. And then also this,
- 17:15Speaker 3: the staff has to be like, all right, am I
- 17:17Speaker 3: going to waste my time and waste my stuff to
- 17:19Speaker 3: develop this? When anything that goes on, all of a
- 17:22Speaker 3: sudden there's so much noise about, Why is he fourth
- 17:25Speaker 3: in the individual line giving handoffs? So what you're saying
- 17:28Speaker 3: is like, these guys have to deal with so much
- 17:30Speaker 3: noise anyways. So I'm sure that they're like, a team's
- 17:33Speaker 3: looking at them like, well, I don't want to deal
- 17:34Speaker 3: with that. Like, you know, or I totally agree with you.
- 17:37Speaker 3: That's because it feels like to me that this was
- 17:40Speaker 3: a regime pick on day three. I'm not the first
- 17:42Speaker 3: person to say that as far as the, I think,
- 17:45Speaker 3: you know, the exact Andrew Barry, maybe the owners got involved.
- 17:48Speaker 3: It does not feel like a coach's pick. And that's
- 17:50Speaker 3: the thing too. If that's how one coach's staff feels
- 17:52Speaker 3: like we're all, People in the league talk and people
- 17:55Speaker 3: in the league that are fighting for their jobs or
- 17:57Speaker 3: everything like that. It has to go to a very
- 17:59Speaker 3: safe place. Like you said, a starting quarterback that's already
- 18:02Speaker 3: locked in and a head coach that has time and
- 18:04Speaker 3: job security. But are the Rams going to go for that?
- 18:07Speaker 3: You know, are the, I'm just trying to just throw
- 18:09Speaker 3: out some other teams there, but like the Cowboys going
- 18:11Speaker 3: to go, well, Jerry. But, but, you know, like some
- 18:15Speaker 3: of the teams, they have to have like real locked
- 18:17Speaker 3: in solidified because this is just such a wild variable.
- 18:20Speaker 3: And the NFL teams do not like wild variables like that.
- 18:23Speaker 1: And I also think that observers, I think there are
- 18:28Speaker 1: a lot of people who observe the Shador stuff who
- 18:30Speaker 1: don't really do this.
- 18:31Speaker 2: And that's not an insult to them, but he has
- 18:33Speaker 2: a lot of general audience interest.
- 18:36Speaker 3: That's a great point.
- 18:37Speaker 1: And I think that a lot of people need to understand,
- 18:39Speaker 1: or even the people who are just general audience, even
- 18:43Speaker 1: sports fans who veer toward general audience, if you put
- 18:46Speaker 1: it all on a spectrum or continuum, right? This league
- 18:49Speaker 1: is not about giving people chances. They give people jobs.
- 18:54Speaker 1: you can turn it into a chance. You can seize
- 18:57Speaker 1: an opportunity, but nobody owes you a chance per se, right?
- 19:04Speaker 1: And so the argument that Sanders has not been given
- 19:08Speaker 1: enough of a chance, that's the argument behind not practicing
- 19:11Speaker 1: with the ones.
- 19:12Speaker 2: He's not even getting a chance. That's not what they
- 19:15Speaker 2: do there. That's not that. That's not that. This isn't.
- 19:19Speaker 1: We're just giving everybody a chance to live out their dreams.
- 19:21Speaker 1: They are not in the business of making dreams come true.
- 19:24Speaker 1: That's not dreams come true here. But not because that's
- 19:28Speaker 1: what they're trying to accomplish. That's not it. So, no,
- 19:32Speaker 1: they're not giving him a chance. They are giving Dylan
- 19:34Speaker 1: Gabriel a chance, but not because they want to give
- 19:36Speaker 1: Dylan Gabriel a chance.
- 19:38Speaker 2: They think it's best for them. They're not doing a
- 19:41Speaker 2: favor to Dylan Gabriel.
- 19:43Speaker 3: They're trying to, like, they're going to say, because if
- 19:45Speaker 3: it works, it's a feather in their cap. And that's
- 19:47Speaker 3: what it is. Like, they didn't go into the season
- 19:49Speaker 3: wanting Dylan Gabriel to play. the whole season. They had
- 19:51Speaker 3: Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett on this roster for a reason.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I didn't like the, the method to their madness. I
- 19:56Speaker 3: thought they should have just draped for Tanner McKee and
- 19:58Speaker 3: just get through all this bullshit and be, be done
- 20:00Speaker 3: with it. But that, no, you're absolutely right. That's, it's
- 20:04Speaker 3: a meritocracy and so much more, way more than people realize. Like, yes,
- 20:08Speaker 3: there is nepotism. Yes, people get chances and get jobs
- 20:10Speaker 3: and stuff like that. But as far as playing, because
- 20:13Speaker 3: the film doesn't lie. So if you're just going like,
- 20:16Speaker 3: oh no, we got to get this shot. People in
- 20:17Speaker 3: the locker room are going to go like, all right,
- 20:19Speaker 3: I'm going to get another concussion and run over the
- 20:20Speaker 3: middle for this shit. Like that, that's not how it works.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Like it works. Like who's going to, all right, who's
- 20:25Speaker 3: the guy next to me that's going to get me
- 20:27Speaker 3: paid and win me football games. All right. If he's
- 20:29Speaker 3: going to do that, then I'll do whatever. I'll run
- 20:30Speaker 3: through a brick wall for him. But if we're just
- 20:32Speaker 3: doing this ideas and fun stuff, it doesn't work like that.
- 20:35Speaker 3: And just like you said, the rep stuff, during the season,
- 20:38Speaker 3: there's a finite amount of reps that can go around
- 20:41Speaker 3: because you're installing to win that game that week. And
- 20:43Speaker 3: it's not just like training camp, which is still limited reps,
- 20:47Speaker 3: but it's like at least we can parse up these
- 20:49Speaker 3: practice reps to get these plays going. They're trying to
- 20:52Speaker 3: game plan for this week and win this game because
- 20:54Speaker 3: there's a lot of guys who have their jobs on
- 20:56Speaker 3: the line, not just coaches, players as well. So like,
- 20:59Speaker 3: that's what the whole thing is too. It's like, yeah,
- 21:01Speaker 3: we want the dreams and we're like, oh, why isn't
- 21:02Speaker 3: he a reps with the ones? Cause that's not how
- 21:04Speaker 3: it works. The ones get the reps. There's the famous line, right?
- 21:07Speaker 3: About Tom Moore.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Tom Moore. Yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 3: We don't, that's so true.
- 21:11Speaker 1: For people who don't know the lie, the line is
- 21:14Speaker 1: Peyton Manning takes all the practice snaps, which is in
- 21:16Speaker 1: part because Peyton Manning is a control freak maniac.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:18Speaker 1: But the other part was Tom Moore's argument was if,
- 21:22Speaker 1: if we have to go to the backup, we're fucked
- 21:24Speaker 1: and we don't practice fucked.
- 21:25Speaker 3: And it's so true. Oh, How about this? Another time,
- 21:29Speaker 3: Russell Wilson.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:30Speaker 3: He transfers to Wisconsin. Paul Chris, offense coordinator, and even Bielma,
- 21:34Speaker 3: the head coach, they ran it very pro-style. How our
- 21:37Speaker 3: practice week was, was very pro-style structured as far as reps,
- 21:40Speaker 3: as far as like how, you know, situations and everything.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Makes sense. That's what we had to do at Wisconsin
- 21:45Speaker 3: to win games. So Russ gets there. I'm the backup.
- 21:50Speaker 3: All right. So we're getting these, we're going through the
- 21:51Speaker 3: first game script, you know, going through all this stuff.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And then he kind of looks and he goes, am
- 21:55Speaker 3: I taking all these? I'm like, yep. I'm like, I
- 21:57Speaker 3: get three plays. I get three. That's all I got.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I would get three plays. Like, and there's just one
- 22:02Speaker 3: little series. Okay. These are the three plays in case
- 22:04Speaker 3: we are fucked. Cause Russell's hurt. And then Nate has
- 22:07Speaker 3: to go in there. All right. These are the three
- 22:09Speaker 3: plays that we go with. And then that Paul, Chris
- 22:11Speaker 3: had explained to him, like, well, we're trying to teach,
- 22:13Speaker 3: you know, this, this, what we did at, you know,
- 22:15Speaker 3: San Diego charters, whatever, this is how I know it.
- 22:17Speaker 3: And so Russ was like in groomed for the NFL,
- 22:20Speaker 3: because that's how we practice. We practice like an NFL
- 22:22Speaker 3: team in ways that, but that was one of the
- 22:24Speaker 3: ways we did it was no, the one gets all
- 22:26Speaker 3: the reps. He gets all the reps and walkthrough. He
- 22:29Speaker 3: gets all the reps from seven on seven. He gets
- 22:30Speaker 3: all the reps and team because that's the starter and
- 22:34Speaker 3: we're developing the starter right now. So, and one, because
- 22:37Speaker 3: one time he complained to his, he was like, man,
- 22:38Speaker 3: I just threw like 110 balls. I'm like, you still
- 22:40Speaker 3: got like 30 more because, because that's how we're, but
- 22:44Speaker 3: that's what take being a one is you take all
- 22:46Speaker 3: the reps. That's how it kind of goes. So yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Also don't forget that he had spent two, three years
- 22:51Speaker 1: with a, giraffe over his shoulder that the coach absolutely
- 22:54Speaker 1: wanted to take his job Glennon at all possible oh my.
- 22:58Speaker 2: God you had to be there man like it is
- 23:00Speaker 2: it is.
- 23:00Speaker 1: A fast because he was not Tom O'Brien's guy Glennon
- 23:04Speaker 1: was the guy that he brought in and the whole
- 23:06Speaker 1: that first.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Year when Russ was all right we're just holding.
- 23:08Speaker 1: This down until Glennon gets the job and then little
- 23:10Speaker 1: did they know that they had an NFL quarterback and
- 23:13Speaker 1: so and but there was never a day that Tom
- 23:16Speaker 1: O'Brien did not wish that Mike Glennon would be the
- 23:19Speaker 1: quarterback we'll switch gears right fast before we go into
- 23:21Speaker 1: break but The Chiefs are playing for their season this week.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Is that fair to say? I keep saying that except
- 23:26Speaker 1: all that in the hunt. There's still only one game
- 23:28Speaker 1: out of making the playoffs, and it still feels like
- 23:30Speaker 1: they're better than all the other in the hunt teams.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And C.J.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Stroud apparently suffered a serious concussion because he still isn't back,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and they stay in that in the hunt graphic. However,
- 23:39Speaker 1: they play against the Colts this week, and they got
- 23:42Speaker 1: to get this one done.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Yeah, they're favored against the Colts this week.
- 23:47Speaker 2: They got it at home.
- 23:48Speaker 3: They're at home, but it's even, even more than the
- 23:50Speaker 3: home spread. They gave him a point.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Vegas did.
- 23:52Speaker 3: And I did a show with shield Kapadia on the
- 23:55Speaker 3: ringer this week. And he mentioned to me that betting markets,
- 23:59Speaker 3: at least, which is just one thing to look at.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Betting markets have the chiefs favored over every single NFL team.
- 24:05Speaker 3: If they played on a neutral field this week. So
- 24:08Speaker 3: even the Rams who I think are the best team
- 24:10Speaker 3: right now, the chiefs would be favored on a neutral field.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Like say if the super bowl happened this week. And
- 24:15Speaker 3: when I looked at like the NFL, So I agree
- 24:17Speaker 3: with you. Must win. Because I think the New York
- 24:19Speaker 3: Times and everything had them at like 55% to make
- 24:22Speaker 3: the playoffs, which feels about right. And they have a
- 24:25Speaker 3: decently hard schedule. But looking at them and looking at
- 24:29Speaker 3: the AFC, they're not as flawed as the other AFC
- 24:32Speaker 3: teams are. It's not the best version of the Chiefs
- 24:36Speaker 3: team we've seen with Mahomes. I think that's pretty obvious.
- 24:38Speaker 3: That's why they're 5-5. But I think that also they're
- 24:41Speaker 3: not outright bad in any area. Their run game is
- 24:44Speaker 3: actually pretty solid. They don't get explosives, but it's solid.
- 24:47Speaker 3: It's above high rushing success rate, all that stuff. Mahomes
- 24:50Speaker 3: is Mahomes. The O-line is actually good. I think that's
- 24:53Speaker 3: kind of been an underrated thing. Those young guys are working.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I know Simmons missed some time, but even in the backup,
- 24:58Speaker 3: Moore that they signed was good. Kingsley Suamati, the left guard,
- 25:01Speaker 3: is really good. And then the defense, Spaggs always kind
- 25:05Speaker 3: of goes on an uptick. After the bye week. Andy
- 25:08Speaker 3: Reid and Spag's teams always have like– they really figure–
- 25:11Speaker 3: they just had their bye week and they lost actually
- 25:13Speaker 3: with the Broncos game. But they always kind of figure
- 25:15Speaker 3: their shit out as the season goes along. And so
- 25:17Speaker 3: that's why I've kind of stayed– I wouldn't say bullish
- 25:20Speaker 3: all the way with them, but still like I think
- 25:22Speaker 3: they'll figure this out. They'll be like a seven seed.
- 25:25Speaker 3: And then it's dangerous because I think they're just fine
- 25:27Speaker 3: to good in every area. Like every stat I look at–
- 25:31Speaker 3: I don't want to bore you with every freaking acronym
- 25:34Speaker 3: soup that I'll throw at you, but– They're top five
- 25:36Speaker 3: in passing. They're 12th in rushing. They're top 12 on defense.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I don't know. That, to me, is still a solid.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I think it's a dangerous team because now their backs
- 25:45Speaker 3: are against the wall, too. So maybe we'll see some
- 25:47Speaker 3: ideas popping from Reid and everything, too. So I'm not
- 25:50Speaker 3: totally out on them, even if it is a coin
- 25:51Speaker 3: flip for them to make the playoffs. I actually think
- 25:53Speaker 3: they're one of the better teams in the AFC in
- 25:55Speaker 3: a weird way.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Well, I feel like if they wind up at seven,
- 25:57Speaker 1: they'll end up in the first round playing either against.
- 26:00Speaker 2: The Broncos again.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Or the Patriots, or this team they play this week,
- 26:06Speaker 1: the Indianapolis Colts. My question with them is, did the
- 26:08Speaker 1: Steelers expose them?
- 26:11Speaker 3: Oh, the Colts?
- 26:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 3: In ways.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Because I felt like they got beaten pretty thoroughly in
- 26:18Speaker 2: that game.
- 26:18Speaker 3: They did.
- 26:19Speaker 2: And the Steelers are not that good.
- 26:20Speaker 3: They did because it was in a way that you
- 26:23Speaker 3: always have that Daniel Jones pumpkin aspect. You never know
- 26:27Speaker 3: when he's going to turn into a pumpkin. He has
- 26:28Speaker 3: been way better than I've ever seen him in my life.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I think anyone can say that. But it's all been,
- 26:34Speaker 3: they don't get a lot of third and longs because
- 26:36Speaker 3: the run game is freaking awesome. He's got a lot
- 26:38Speaker 3: of talent there. And all of a sudden, that game,
- 26:40Speaker 3: the left tackle, Raymond, kept losing to, I think it
- 26:43Speaker 3: was Highsmith. He kept beating them. And that, to me,
- 26:46Speaker 3: was interesting because it was the first game they had
- 26:47Speaker 3: to drop back. They couldn't do the play actions. They
- 26:50Speaker 3: couldn't do the RPOs. They couldn't do the training wheel
- 26:52Speaker 3: stuff to kind of keep them afloat. And they had
- 26:55Speaker 3: to drop back. And then Raymond kept getting beat, which
- 26:58Speaker 3: is scary. And also Dana Jones started kind of crapping
- 27:01Speaker 3: out a little bit. And so that to me is
- 27:03Speaker 3: always like they're game script dependent more than maybe other
- 27:06Speaker 3: really good teams. Meaning like if they get into a–
- 27:08Speaker 3: it's almost like a Shanahan team where it's like, okay,
- 27:11Speaker 3: now we're losing now. Oh, God, we got to drop back.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I don't know if we can do that. So I
- 27:15Speaker 3: think that's like– that's kind of how I feel about them.
- 27:17Speaker 3: When they're rolling, they're in a neutral game script. Yeah,
- 27:20Speaker 3: awesome offense. The run game is amazing. Jonathan Taylor has
- 27:22Speaker 3: been great. I really like the young receivers and everything.
- 27:25Speaker 3: But I think just they always have that crap on them.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And also their defense– I like the sauce move. It
- 27:29Speaker 3: was a little expensive, the sauce gardener trade, but their
- 27:32Speaker 3: defense is really gettable. And it's not, it's like the,
- 27:35Speaker 3: it's like an average defense. Louisiana room was a good coordinator,
- 27:38Speaker 3: but it's an average defense. So they have a really
- 27:40Speaker 3: hard schedule to end their year. I don't know if
- 27:43Speaker 3: you've checked it out, but I'm very curious how the
- 27:45Speaker 3: Colts kind of end up this year because they have,
- 27:47Speaker 3: they go chiefs, Texans, Jags aren't the best team, but
- 27:51Speaker 3: they're dangerous. um and actually would be in the playoffs
- 27:54Speaker 3: right now then seahawks 49ers then jags again and then
- 27:58Speaker 3: they end with the texans there's no gimmies for them
- 28:00Speaker 3: in the second half of the year which i think
- 28:02Speaker 3: i'm very curious to see how it kind of unfolds
- 28:04Speaker 3: don't think they're a good team but i think there
- 28:06Speaker 3: are some.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Flaws with them all right i'm going to tap into
- 28:09Speaker 1: maybe your wisconsin badger favoritism here with my hot take
- 28:12Speaker 1: that you may have heard me offer before but i'm
- 28:14Speaker 1: gonna say it again um jonathan taylor is perhaps on
- 28:18Speaker 1: his way to his second 1,800-yard season, definitely on his
- 28:22Speaker 1: way to his third 1,400-yard season after running for 6,000
- 28:27Speaker 1: yards in three years in college. And I argue that
- 28:29Speaker 1: he is quite possibly the most underrated football player ever.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Like 6,000 yards in college in three years used to
- 28:36Speaker 1: get you Wheaties box, and he is a great NFL
- 28:38Speaker 1: running back.
- 28:39Speaker 3: And he was running back like three in that draft too.
- 28:42Speaker 3: He got drafted after Swift. I think he was four, actually.
- 28:45Speaker 3: He got drafted after CEH, Swift. and maybe JK Dobbins.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Can you imagine if the chiefs had done that? Now, granted,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I know that he probably wasn't out there running a
- 28:54Speaker 1: lot of routes with Wisconsin, but still.
- 28:57Speaker 3: But, but can you imagine this? I mean, shoot right now,
- 29:00Speaker 3: they get all those two high boxes. And so just
- 29:02Speaker 3: imagine him, his big ass, just flying through, especially with
- 29:06Speaker 3: this offensive line they have right now. Oh my God.
- 29:08Speaker 3: They would just run all over people. He, that was
- 29:11Speaker 3: one of the craziest things to me. Cause that was
- 29:13Speaker 3: right when I was getting into media was that combine, um,
- 29:17Speaker 3: They had over under 40 times posted that you could
- 29:20Speaker 3: bet on. I didn't. Related story, my new refrigerator in
- 29:25Speaker 3: the kitchen is because of this. But they posted his
- 29:31Speaker 3: over under at the 40, like 454. And it was like,
- 29:34Speaker 3: has anyone watched this guy once in Wisconsin? And he
- 29:38Speaker 3: also ran like a 10-400. in college at 230 pounds
- 29:41Speaker 3: and that was like the easiest bet i've ever made
- 29:44Speaker 3: in my entire life all right betting the under on
- 29:46Speaker 3: his 40 and he went out and flew so i
- 29:49Speaker 3: am with you i think he's still an incredible guy
- 29:51Speaker 3: too like a really good interview really thoughtful guy um
- 29:54Speaker 3: i've gotten to talk to him a few times over
- 29:55Speaker 3: the years But, no, I'm with you. He's totally underrated.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Remember when he had to fight them for the money? Like,
- 30:01Speaker 1: it's kind of crazy he still plays there. It was
- 30:03Speaker 1: not that long ago that he and Ursa, rest in peace,
- 30:06Speaker 1: were really duking it out over this money. That's right.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I haven't gotten about that until right now.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yes, that's right. That's absolutely right. Yes, that's right. And
- 30:19Speaker 3: he's like a great teammate, hard worker, facing a franchise
- 30:23Speaker 3: as they go through another quarterback change. These are the
- 30:26Speaker 3: guys you're supposed to like kind of, you know, You
- 30:29Speaker 3: pay a little premium to keep these types of guys around. Oh, yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 3: the over-under was set at 4-5-1, and he ended up running.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 2: You're like, let me get that, homie. Let me get
- 30:38Speaker 2: that big dog.
- 30:38Speaker 1: All right, we got more NFL coming up next with

- 31:48Speaker 2: Let's be honest.
- 31:49Speaker 1: It's hard to stay healthy during the holiday season. Crowded
- 31:52Speaker 1: airports and travel cause strain on our systems. Darkness and
- 31:56Speaker 1: shorter days may throw off your rhythm and holiday meals
- 31:59Speaker 1: mean getting lost in sweets and snacking.
- 32:02Speaker 2: That's where AG1 comes in. But what is AG1?
- 32:06Speaker 1: AG1 NextGen is a daily health drink clinically shown to
- 32:09Speaker 1: support gut health and fill in common nutrient gaps. One

- 32:24Speaker 1: AG1 isn't just another supplement. It's a daily micro habit
- 32:28Speaker 1: that supports whole body health in one scoop.

- 32:38Speaker 1: kit with an AG1 flavor sampler and a bottle of
- 32:41Speaker 1: vitamin D3 plus K2 when you first subscribe. That's drinkag1. com
- 32:48Speaker 1: slash Bomani. I think we've talked about it a little
- 32:52Speaker 1: bit on this show, but not that much. But it's
- 32:55Speaker 1: bearing discussion that Matt LaFleur is low-key coaching for his job.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And I make the argument that if you're coaching for
- 33:00Speaker 1: your job, you've already lost your job. Like, they got
- 33:02Speaker 1: him on a plan. He on the PIP, the Performance
- 33:06Speaker 1: Improvement Plan. But you watch them, and it's one thing
- 33:11Speaker 1: when you see a team that is not as good
- 33:13Speaker 1: as you thought they were. It is another when you
- 33:15Speaker 1: feel like you are clearly watching a team that is underachieving.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And that is kind of how I feel, even though
- 33:20Speaker 1: their receiver situation is a little bit janky. But they
- 33:23Speaker 1: should be better than this, is what it feels like
- 33:26Speaker 1: at every turn.
- 33:27Speaker 3: They are, I keep getting back to going back to
- 33:30Speaker 3: this line is that every time I watch them live,
- 33:33Speaker 3: I'm like, you guys stink. I can't believe I was
- 33:35Speaker 3: optimistic about you guys. What was I thinking? And then
- 33:38Speaker 3: I rewatch them on film and I'm always like, Oh,
- 33:40Speaker 3: you're actually pretty good. You actually do a lot of
- 33:42Speaker 3: nice things. And so I have no idea how to
- 33:46Speaker 3: compute them, like how to analyze them. Like I keep
- 33:48Speaker 3: putting them at like, Eighth best team, seventh best, just
- 33:52Speaker 3: outside the contenders. But I'm going to keep my eye
- 33:54Speaker 3: on them. But I think the Tucker Kraft injury is
- 33:56Speaker 3: the one thing that's really damning more than most tight
- 33:59Speaker 3: end injuries because of what he generated for the offense.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I think LaFleur is a good coach. I don't think
- 34:06Speaker 3: he should be coaching for his job. I think people
- 34:08Speaker 3: in Green Bay are just very spoiled with their team.
- 34:11Speaker 3: But I do think when I watch them, they have
- 34:14Speaker 3: a little bit of a fuck around and find out
- 34:17Speaker 3: flaw to them. where the Browns game might be the
- 34:20Speaker 3: best example, where they're playing. It's not not to lose.
- 34:23Speaker 3: It's more just like, we're just not going to let
- 34:25Speaker 3: you have any big plays against us. So we're going
- 34:28Speaker 3: to be very conservative on first and second down. I
- 34:30Speaker 3: think his second down play calling would be the biggest blemish.
- 34:33Speaker 3: They just run it. And they have an interesting run game,
- 34:36Speaker 3: and I like it. It's well-schemed and everything, but Josh
- 34:38Speaker 3: Jacobs isn't the most explosive guy. He's hurt right now, too.
- 34:41Speaker 3: But they just run it, run it, run it. They
- 34:43Speaker 3: get to a lot of third and shorts, third and threes,
- 34:44Speaker 3: third and fours, and then Jordan Love converts. And then
- 34:47Speaker 3: they maybe get to a short yardage and they take
- 34:49Speaker 3: a shot play. So to me, that's fine and that's
- 34:52Speaker 3: all good, especially going against another good team. But when
- 34:55Speaker 3: you're going against a team that's inferior to yourselves, I
- 34:58Speaker 3: think Browns were one of those, the Panthers, when they
- 35:00Speaker 3: played the Panthers. Although our guy, Charles McDonald, predicted that upset.
- 35:03Speaker 3: So I got to give him a little props on
- 35:05Speaker 3: that one too. But these types of things or those
- 35:08Speaker 3: types of games, those types of matchups, that's where the
- 35:10Speaker 3: frustration lies. It's like, hey, let it hang out sometimes.
- 35:14Speaker 3: You've got a quarterback that's willing to do it. We've
- 35:16Speaker 3: watched him. He actually had a really good game during
- 35:18Speaker 3: love against the Giants, too. Underappreciated game. But I do
- 35:22Speaker 3: think there is some conservativeness with his play calling in
- 35:27Speaker 3: the weirdest way because it's so aggressive passing. But I
- 35:29Speaker 3: think running the ball, they're fine with those three, four-yard gains.
- 35:32Speaker 3: And that's a little archaic line of thinking. I understand
- 35:36Speaker 3: why they do it, but it's very 1997-ish. kind of
- 35:39Speaker 3: football thinking as opposed to maybe 2025, which is interesting
- 35:42Speaker 3: to me. But I don't think he should be on
- 35:43Speaker 3: the hot seat. I still think they're actually a pretty
- 35:44Speaker 3: good team.
- 35:45Speaker 1: What do you think Flores is going to have for
- 35:47Speaker 1: these boys? They're playing against the Vikings this week.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Well, I don't think they have to worry because McCarthy's
- 35:52Speaker 3: starting at quarterback for the Vikings.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I said specifically Flores. I'm just very
- 35:58Speaker 2: curious what Flores is going to throw out there.
- 36:02Speaker 3: When they play in the past, when it's been like
- 36:04Speaker 3: Love and LaFleur against Flores, it's haymakers on both sides.
- 36:07Speaker 3: So you're going to see some crazy shit from Flores, blitz-wise,
- 36:10Speaker 3: because they're trying to make Love... They're trying to make everything...
- 36:13Speaker 3: It's going to be... Both sides want it to be
- 36:14Speaker 3: boom-bust in these matchups where it's like, yeah, we're going
- 36:17Speaker 3: to take a sack. Yeah, we're going to get pressured.
- 36:19Speaker 3: We're going to let a guy unblock. But... I'm paying that.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Here we go. Like you're going to see love throwing
- 36:24Speaker 3: some stuff. So I think it's fun because it's, those
- 36:27Speaker 3: are two sides are going to just throw haymakers against
- 36:29Speaker 3: each other. But he'll have some stuff. I'm the Vikings
- 36:32Speaker 3: run defense. Isn't great as well. And so I think
- 36:36Speaker 3: maybe even the Packers with some banged up guys can
- 36:38Speaker 3: still maybe jab them a little bit, which you have
- 36:40Speaker 3: to do against the Vikings, but those two sides, it's
- 36:43Speaker 3: going to be haymaker city way, way to see some
- 36:45Speaker 3: of the points to say they bring in what, what
- 36:47Speaker 3: the little four is going to probably try and dial
- 36:48Speaker 3: up a love. So yeah, it might be like a,
- 36:50Speaker 3: Two touchdown, one pick from Love, but some big highlight plays.
- 36:54Speaker 2: All right.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Are you down on McCarthy with some optimism, or are
- 36:57Speaker 1: you just confused by the totality?
- 37:00Speaker 3: I'm down, down. I'm kind of out, down. I was
- 37:05Speaker 3: never huge on him going into that draft class. Another
- 37:09Speaker 3: guy I consider day two. And when watching him, again,
- 37:13Speaker 3: this is my argument of like, all right, this guy's
- 37:16Speaker 3: a project. This guy needs reps. All right, what are
- 37:18Speaker 3: you building to? Kirk cousins, you know, like, what are
- 37:22Speaker 3: you building? Like you're, you're doing all this work to
- 37:24Speaker 3: get to the 14th best starter, the 16th best starter.
- 37:27Speaker 3: And when I watched him though, or watching them this year, it's, Oh, wow.
- 37:31Speaker 3: He's like, not only just a project that he needs
- 37:34Speaker 3: reps in the games, he needs reps in practice because
- 37:37Speaker 3: I think a lot of his mechanical issues, he struggles
- 37:39Speaker 3: throwing to his left, which is a classic young quarterback thing.
- 37:43Speaker 3: But most quarterbacks we see in the NFL have kind
- 37:45Speaker 3: of solved that. That's why it's interesting always to see
- 37:47Speaker 3: this is that, he's an overstrider and what happens when
- 37:52Speaker 3: guys are overstriding, there's so much that happens with young
- 37:54Speaker 3: quarterbacks and their footwork watching with him is everything's a
- 37:57Speaker 3: step late. Everything is, he has to hitch one extra
- 37:59Speaker 3: time to see it. He has to see something. So
- 38:02Speaker 3: you see the guy already breaking on his route. Oh,
- 38:04Speaker 3: he's open. I'm going to throw it. He has a
- 38:06Speaker 3: good arm strength, but he actually, the thing is, is
- 38:09Speaker 3: he's doing a lot where, okay, okay. I'm waiting until
- 38:12Speaker 3: he's open. He's open. I'm late.
- 38:13Speaker 2: I'm late.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I'm late. All right. I'm going to throw this as
- 38:15Speaker 3: hard as I can because I know I'm late and
- 38:17Speaker 3: I have to squeeze this in the window. That's already
- 38:19Speaker 3: scary to me because you don't want to ever see that.
- 38:22Speaker 3: You want to see the guy anticipate and throw it early.
- 38:25Speaker 3: And if you just throw something right now, if you
- 38:27Speaker 3: throw it soft and easy, you're so much more accurate
- 38:29Speaker 3: than whipping it in there. And so watching that, that
- 38:32Speaker 3: means to me that he's mentally behind. I see a
- 38:35Speaker 3: lot of cadence issues happen as far as how many
- 38:36Speaker 3: false starts they have, which tells me some stuff too.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Just reading the context clues. I think he's just pushing
- 38:41Speaker 3: outside the numbers. He's just so inaccurate right now. And
- 38:44Speaker 3: now you're seeing the frustrations happen with all the rest
- 38:46Speaker 3: of the players.
- 38:47Speaker 2: They joined Jefferson to see the A.J. Browse, though.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Oh, man. No one would ever guess Justin Jefferson would
- 38:53Speaker 3: ever reach that point. He's like the all-time teammate. He's
- 38:58Speaker 3: willing to block. He's willing to do all this gritty stuff.
- 39:01Speaker 3: And now he's even throwing his hands. And he's trying
- 39:03Speaker 3: to save himself. He's about to freak out. And he
- 39:06Speaker 3: stops right before he's about to freak out. But it's like,
- 39:09Speaker 3: they see it. This is what we were talking about
- 39:11Speaker 3: with Schroeder. They see it every day in practice. We
- 39:13Speaker 3: just see the games. So they know.
- 39:15Speaker 1: The three best receivers in the league right now might
- 39:19Speaker 1: be Justin Jefferson. I think I called him Jordan Jefferson
- 39:22Speaker 1: again because I'm old and old people do things like that.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, and A.J. Brown. And they're all in...
- 39:30Speaker 2: some form of jail.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I mean, Jamar Chase right now is in actual football
- 39:34Speaker 1: jail as he is suspended. I tried to ask the
- 39:37Speaker 1: question as to like, is there any argument that he didn't?
- 39:41Speaker 2: It's him saying I did not spit on him.
- 39:44Speaker 3: He appealed it.
- 39:45Speaker 2: I didn't mean to. I didn't do it at all. Like,
- 39:48Speaker 2: that's just a lie, dog.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I love that he appealed it. I love that. I
- 39:53Speaker 3: think that's so funny. Like, yeah, I know I'm on camera. No,
- 39:57Speaker 3: I'm going to fight this. I was going to say,
- 39:59Speaker 3: you were mentioning all those receivers. They're all in a
- 40:00Speaker 3: different circle of hell, of receiver hell. Like, they all are. Like,
- 40:05Speaker 3: Justin Jefferson is probably the seventh circle of receiver hell.
- 40:09Speaker 3: But they're all different levels of hell right now, circles
- 40:11Speaker 3: of hell right now.
- 40:12Speaker 1: So do the Cowboys have any chance to win against
- 40:15Speaker 1: the Eagles on Sunday?
- 40:17Speaker 2: And I think the reason that I even throw it out.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Here as a possibility is that it's like the Eagles
- 40:23Speaker 1: aren't even trying to actually score points. But the Cowboys
- 40:26Speaker 1: and the Make-A-Wish Foundation defense kind of make it impossible
- 40:29Speaker 1: for you not to.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Make-A-Wish Foundation defense.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Make dreams come true.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Well, also, they always have that in the end zone, right?
- 40:39Speaker 3: For Thanksgiving.
- 40:40Speaker 2: That's the Salvation Army.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Salvation Army. Oh, thank you.
- 40:44Speaker 2: That's right.
- 40:45Speaker 3: You know what?
- 40:45Speaker 2: I need to adapt this. You're right. I need to
- 40:47Speaker 2: adapt this.
- 40:48Speaker 3: That's right. Sorry. That was good. No, I do think
- 40:54Speaker 3: that the Eagles defense is really the story of them
- 40:56Speaker 3: right now. The offense, for me, I almost get tired
- 40:58Speaker 3: of talking about because it's one of these things where
- 41:00Speaker 3: it's like, this is what it is. This is how
- 41:02Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts plays. These are the routes he prefers. The
- 41:05Speaker 3: run game is worse, and that's why it feels worse
- 41:07Speaker 3: with that team right now. But I think the Cowboys'
- 41:10Speaker 3: offense is awesome. It's awesome.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Hey, man, George Pickens is your number two receiver.
- 41:17Speaker 3: That's fun. It might be a top. And also, even
- 41:21Speaker 3: when they traded for him, I was optimistic about it
- 41:24Speaker 3: because I was like, this is the type of guy
- 41:25Speaker 3: that Dak likes. He likes a true X. He had
- 41:29Speaker 3: Michael Gallup for a while. And this is a better
- 41:31Speaker 3: version of Michael Gallup.
- 41:34Speaker 2: When you say that, when you say a true X,
- 41:35Speaker 2: what do you mean?
- 41:37Speaker 3: So like they could be the isolated receiver. So an
- 41:39Speaker 3: X is the ISO guy.
- 41:41Speaker 2: That's the one that lines up on the line of scrimmage.
- 41:43Speaker 2: So he's not going to move.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Exactly. And that matters because then your route tree becomes
- 41:46Speaker 3: a little more vertical. And so when you're isolated, that
- 41:49Speaker 3: means you truly have to win one-on-ones. And I always
- 41:52Speaker 3: put it this way. The X's route tree is like
- 41:54Speaker 3: a plane, you know, very vertical, straight. If you're in
- 41:57Speaker 3: the slot or you're off the ball, it's like a helicopter.
- 41:59Speaker 3: then you can move in every single direction and go
- 42:01Speaker 3: every such way. But most Xs now get moved around.
- 42:05Speaker 3: So being an X archetype is one of the hardest
- 42:07Speaker 3: things to find. That's why I was super high on
- 42:10Speaker 3: Teterow and McMillan with the Panthers because I think he
- 42:12Speaker 3: could be a true X, which he has been. But no,
- 42:15Speaker 3: it's a very, very hard archetype to find. Moss is,
- 42:18Speaker 3: of course, the best one ever. But you have to
- 42:21Speaker 3: win vertically on go routes. You have to win on
- 42:23Speaker 3: stop routes, which means like boxing out a guy and
- 42:26Speaker 3: winning at the catch point on a contested catch. You
- 42:28Speaker 3: have to win on slants. Those are kind of the
- 42:30Speaker 3: three common routes. And guess what George Pickens is really
- 42:33Speaker 3: good at? Goes, stops, and slants. Guess what Dak Prescott
- 42:36Speaker 3: loves to throw? Goes, stops, and slants. So it's just
- 42:39Speaker 3: like just that archetype. But also with who else is
- 42:42Speaker 3: on the roster, CeeDee Lamb is best as a power slot,
- 42:46Speaker 3: as I like to call him. He's a Z. An
- 42:49Speaker 3: X is a split end on the ball end. A
- 42:53Speaker 3: Z is a flanker. Move around. He's the flanker. He
- 42:56Speaker 3: moves around. That's where CeeDee is unlocked. He can do
- 42:59Speaker 3: X stuff. They've experimented with it. But now you've got
- 43:02Speaker 3: George Pickens, dominant X, CeeDee Lamb, one of the best
- 43:05Speaker 3: power slots in the entire league. It's just like, I
- 43:07Speaker 3: hate using the word, but it works perfectly. Synergy between
- 43:10Speaker 3: everyone is perfect. And then Jake Ferguson is like the
- 43:12Speaker 3: perfect tight end for those two guys too. And then
- 43:15Speaker 3: their line's good. They drafted. They signed Clayton Adams to
- 43:20Speaker 3: be their offensive coordinator and run game coordinator. And he's awesome.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Probably going to be a head coach down the road.
- 43:25Speaker 3: But he's been one of my favorite assistant coaches. Their
- 43:28Speaker 3: run game is really creative and really just sound. And
- 43:31Speaker 3: he's developed all these young guys. They're all taking a
- 43:33Speaker 3: step forward this year where they've been healthy. So I
- 43:36Speaker 3: love where their offense is going. I had to take
- 43:38Speaker 3: yesterday that they're primed for 2026 because I also think
- 43:42Speaker 3: Quinton Williams has somehow gotten underrated. he's the trade happened
- 43:46Speaker 3: and i was like i understand jerry ha ha ha
- 43:48Speaker 3: lols jerry but it's like quinn and williams is like
- 43:50Speaker 3: a top 10 defender in the nfl i don't i
- 43:53Speaker 3: don't think indy got him in his prime on like
- 43:54Speaker 3: a nice contract so they're actually set up okay for
- 43:58Speaker 3: next year because i just think this offense is so
- 44:00Speaker 3: freaking awesome.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Yeah i think they're going to regret that money they
- 44:04Speaker 1: give george pickens once best behavior is no longer required
- 44:07Speaker 1: to get this bread like that.
- 44:09Speaker 3: We saw this weekend One game in Vegas, all of
- 44:12Speaker 3: a sudden I have to miss the first series.
- 44:16Speaker 1: But the Steelers took a step down by going with
- 44:18Speaker 1: DK Metcalf over going with George Pickens. And granted, that
- 44:22Speaker 1: tells you how frustrated they had to have been in
- 44:26Speaker 1: dealing with it. The point I always make about Pickens is,
- 44:28Speaker 1: Pickens is from Hoover, Alabama, and Nick Saban did not
- 44:30Speaker 1: offer him a scholarship.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Oh, you didn't know. There's something to that. They were like,
- 44:37Speaker 2: we don't have to do this. They made that call. But, no,
- 44:42Speaker 2: that game is going to be interesting to watch.
- 44:43Speaker 1: And the night game is the Baker Mayfield Bowl, former
- 44:46Speaker 1: Los Angeles Ram, Baker Mayfield, though it was only for
- 44:49Speaker 1: a brief moment he was there. But they get Tampa Bay,
- 44:52Speaker 1: and Tampa Bay seems to be pretty good if you're not.
- 44:56Speaker 2: If you are, they look like they're going to lose.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Yep. They're the Aaron Continental champ. You know, they're the
- 45:03Speaker 3: best in the upper mid-card.
- 45:04Speaker 2: That's the honky-tonk man. That's the honky-tonk man. Okay.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 45:10Speaker 3: That's exactly what they are no yeah that's that chris
- 45:13Speaker 3: jericho i feel like he always had the ic belt
- 45:16Speaker 3: no yeah they're the best of the kind of the
- 45:17Speaker 3: middle tier the mid card uh that's kind of how
- 45:19Speaker 3: i feel about the bucks um no i i i
- 45:22Speaker 3: think the rams are the best team right now uh
- 45:24Speaker 3: i think offense defense i think chris shula has done
- 45:26Speaker 3: a good job on defense it's been more real than
- 45:29Speaker 3: smoke and mirrors on that defense than i thought with
- 45:31Speaker 3: the rams the bucks is just they've just everybody's hurt
- 45:35Speaker 3: all the time they're getting healthier but it's just like
- 45:37Speaker 3: it's just so hard to like depend on them what
- 45:40Speaker 3: you're going to get that week especially more on offense
- 45:42Speaker 3: and I think their defense is good against the run
- 45:44Speaker 3: Vita Vale all that stuff Todd Bowles is funky but
- 45:46Speaker 3: they're gettable I mean we just saw what the Bills
- 45:48Speaker 3: could do to them like you can still find ways
- 45:51Speaker 3: to get them that it's always a thing with Bowles
- 45:53Speaker 3: he'll overwhelm you if you're not prepped but if you
- 45:55Speaker 3: are prepped you can kind of find ways so but
- 45:57Speaker 3: the Bucks are like a good team but it's like
- 46:00Speaker 3: I struggle to kind of just anoint them as a
- 46:02Speaker 3: next step team, you know, because it's just what they've
- 46:04Speaker 3: shown this year and just the receiver injuries they've had
- 46:06Speaker 3: to deal with and the old line injuries, but they're
- 46:08Speaker 3: getting healthier now.
- 46:10Speaker 1: You know, I can't remember where you were on this topic,
- 46:12Speaker 1: but where you was vindication washing over you like it
- 46:16Speaker 1: washed over me while Sam Darnold was throwing all those interceptions.
- 46:20Speaker 1: A little.
- 46:22Speaker 3: I've been accused of being a Sam Darnold oligarch by
- 46:26Speaker 3: my other co-host Matt Harmon because he says me and
- 46:28Speaker 3: Mina Kimes. We're the only ones that still had Sam
- 46:31Speaker 3: Darnold stock.
- 46:33Speaker 2: What did she call it? You're a Sampathizer?
- 46:37Speaker 3: Oh, is that what she said?
- 46:38Speaker 2: She said that years ago, yes, about the Sampathizer.
- 46:41Speaker 3: I am, but I know what he is now. I
- 46:44Speaker 3: think that's the thing is you always got to be
- 46:45Speaker 3: scared of, again, like I said with Daniel Jones, the
- 46:48Speaker 3: pumpkin factor, where it's just like at any time pressure
- 46:51Speaker 3: gets to him. And that's the thing so far this year.
- 46:53Speaker 3: He hasn't been scrambling as much. He hasn't been getting
- 46:55Speaker 3: sacked as much. And that, to me, was because he
- 46:57Speaker 3: was operating the offense on time. He wasn't having his
- 47:00Speaker 3: spiral moments. And you just got to keep Sam from spiraling.
- 47:04Speaker 3: But that was the thing. We watched against the Rams,
- 47:06Speaker 3: who have an awesome pass rush. Got a little pressure.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Had to move in the pocket and then throw up there.
- 47:12Speaker 3: I think the Seahawks are still really good. I really
- 47:14Speaker 3: do because their defense is so good and JSN's awesome.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I mean, they almost won that game with Sam Darnold
- 47:19Speaker 2: throwing four interceptions.
- 47:20Speaker 3: They had better underlying stats. If they threw one less pick,
- 47:24Speaker 3: just throw three picks. You can't have four, but if
- 47:26Speaker 3: you just throw three picks. But the Seahawks are really good.
- 47:29Speaker 3: The Seahawks, to me, are a top five team still.
- 47:31Speaker 3: I still think of them as a contender. I really do.
- 47:33Speaker 3: They have number one DVOA, all that stuff. But I
- 47:36Speaker 3: do think that is one of those where you always
- 47:38Speaker 3: have to be wary of that, and especially in the NFC.
- 47:41Speaker 3: And you look at when it comes to playoff time,
- 47:42Speaker 3: who are the teams they have to go against? Maybe
- 47:44Speaker 3: the Rams. Maybe the Lions, who have a pass rush.
- 47:48Speaker 3: Maybe the Eagles, who have a pass rush. The Bucs,
- 47:52Speaker 3: who can blitz you and do some funky stuff. And
- 47:54Speaker 3: they lost to the Bucs, even though they put up points.
- 47:57Speaker 3: So that's the thing. They're matchup dependent based on the
- 48:00Speaker 3: pass rush. But if you don't have a pass rush,
- 48:01Speaker 3: they're going to torch you. And so it's kind of
- 48:03Speaker 3: a nice way of playing both sides with Sam Darnold
- 48:06Speaker 3: right there. Because that's how I kind of feel with it.
- 48:10Speaker 1: So Mina and I talked about this with Dan Campbell,
- 48:12Speaker 1: where Dan Campbell kind of ran that okie-dokie.
- 48:14Speaker 2: He took over play calling against Washington's defense, which is awful.
- 48:18Speaker 1: And then I thought he called a poor game against
- 48:21Speaker 1: the Eagles last week.
- 48:22Speaker 2: But now he gets another opportunity to play a bad team.
- 48:25Speaker 2: He's going to be calling plays at home against the Giants.
- 48:28Speaker 3: He knows what he's doing.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Yeah, but I get the argument of I want to
- 48:32Speaker 1: show this guy what it is that I want. But
- 48:35Speaker 1: the irony of Dan Campbell is, boy, he sure does
- 48:37Speaker 1: get a little too cute out here. Right.
- 48:40Speaker 3: He actually is like meathead, what everyone thinks of him,
- 48:44Speaker 3: even though he has shown that he's very smart and everything.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's a few too many cute– I couldn't believe–
- 48:49Speaker 1: I've thought about this all week. That third and goal
- 48:52Speaker 1: from the five and they ran out of the gun.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I was just like, what are you doing right now?
- 48:55Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 48:56Speaker 3: It's not a short– well, and also that gets into
- 48:59Speaker 3: the Jared Goff outdoors. I mean, that's a real thing.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Some things can be jokes, ha-ha, but that is a
- 49:06Speaker 3: real thing with him. Two gloves, Jared Goff. If you notice,
- 49:10Speaker 3: you can tell a lot by how a guy misses.
- 49:12Speaker 3: like McCarthy misses high, you know, but every Jared Goff
- 49:15Speaker 3: miss was a, a two seam sinker into the ground.
- 49:19Speaker 3: And that to me was someone that was just, again,
- 49:21Speaker 3: that was just trying to like, okay, I got to
- 49:22Speaker 3: throw this. Oh, and he's just digging into the ground.
- 49:24Speaker 3: A great two pitch with two strikes, but not trying
- 49:27Speaker 3: to throw a ball over the middle. But I'm with
- 49:30Speaker 3: you that Dan Campbell timed this up. But I also thought,
- 49:32Speaker 3: you know, I had some worries about Morton taking over
- 49:34Speaker 3: play calling this year because they're, Again, when you're narratively scouting,
- 49:39Speaker 3: like you just said with Saban and Pickens, this guy's
- 49:41Speaker 3: been an assistant for some good coaches for a long time,
- 49:45Speaker 3: and he never really got a shot to call plays.
- 49:47Speaker 3: He did once for a really bad Jets team.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Woo, woo, woo.
- 49:51Speaker 3: You know, that's some alarms. I don't know John Morton
- 49:54Speaker 3: at all, but I'm just like, I'm keeping my eye
- 49:57Speaker 3: on that. And then he benches him, and I'm like, yep, yep,
- 49:59Speaker 3: I knew it. And he wasn't with the system, all
- 50:02Speaker 3: that stuff. I actually think with the Lions, Kelvin Shepard's
- 50:04Speaker 3: doing an awesome job. I am fired. I love the
- 50:08Speaker 3: Lions defense. They play, everyone's talking about the dying personnel
- 50:12Speaker 3: stuff like what the Rams are doing. The Lions play base,
- 50:14Speaker 3: so just they're 4-3. Four defensive linemen, three linebackers, like
- 50:19Speaker 3: every play. And I love that. They just say, we're
- 50:21Speaker 3: going to be big and just beat the shit.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Out of you. We're going to hurt people.
- 50:26Speaker 3: That's what they do. They're the hurt syndicate. They just
- 50:27Speaker 3: beat the shit out of you. It's awesome. It's great.
- 50:31Speaker 3: I love it. Their defensive line is so big. They
- 50:34Speaker 3: got the Aiden Hutchinson, the speedy pass rusher. But then it's,
- 50:38Speaker 3: I mean, shoot, DJ Reader, Tyreek Williams, Roy Lopez. They
- 50:41Speaker 3: got like beef. Jack Campbell's playing great. They got like
- 50:45Speaker 3: Alex Anzalone, Barnes. And then Brian Branch is their safety,
- 50:49Speaker 3: and he's a heavy hitter too. It's like, I don't know.
- 50:52Speaker 3: I think Shepard, especially what he showed early in the season,
- 50:55Speaker 3: because I thought it was kind of basic, and what
- 50:57Speaker 3: he's gotten to, I've been really a big fan of
- 50:59Speaker 3: what the Lions defense is doing, because it's just so
- 51:01Speaker 3: against type of what's going on in the league, where
- 51:02Speaker 3: everyone's getting smaller and faster. And they're like, nope, we're
- 51:05Speaker 3: just going to get big and just punch you in
- 51:06Speaker 3: the face every play. Watch them on the tush pushes.
- 51:10Speaker 3: They're smoking the Eagles tush pushes. It was awesome.
- 51:14Speaker 2: When is Lopez going to get him a Modelo commercial?
- 51:17Speaker 2: I was not aware.
- 51:19Speaker 1: When I looked that up, I'm like, oh, you'll be
- 51:20Speaker 1: in a Modelo commercial very soon, son.
- 51:23Speaker 2: The standard for Mexicans to get in.
- 51:25Speaker 1: The Modelo commercial is simply be a Mexican.
- 51:27Speaker 2: For the black people in the Modelo commercials.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Like Tony Gonzalez, who is also Latino, don't get me wrong,
- 51:34Speaker 1: but also he had to be a hall of favor.
- 51:36Speaker 2: He's sitting in the commercials next to Roberto Garza. Anderson.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Paak got to be Anderson. Paak to get in the commercial.
- 51:41Speaker 2: It's a woman that used to be 5-0 who a
- 51:43Speaker 2: DJ now. She get to be in a Modelo commercial.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Roy Lopez, they must not know you out here, partner.
- 51:49Speaker 2: You need to send them your paperwork.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Didn't they have one for like a Modelo commercial for
- 51:52Speaker 3: like an MMA fighter that like lost a title fight once?
- 51:56Speaker 2: I think so.
- 51:56Speaker 3: And that was it? I think so. Yeah, you get
- 51:58Speaker 3: a commercial.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 3: You get one too.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Not everybody got the same standards to get on with Modelo.
- 52:08Speaker 2: But Roy Lopez. It's a paper out here for you,
- 52:10Speaker 2: big dog.
- 52:11Speaker 3: He should, man. He was like one of my little
- 52:15Speaker 3: nerd favorites the last couple of years with the Cardinals.
- 52:17Speaker 3: I was one of the three people in the world
- 52:19Speaker 3: that watched the Cardinals defense the last couple of years.
- 52:22Speaker 3: And then he goes, he's a free agent this year
- 52:23Speaker 3: and he gets like a little cheap deal with the Lions.
- 52:25Speaker 3: I'm like, pay this guy. And he's been great for him.
- 52:29Speaker 3: So I know I'm with you. He needs to be
- 52:30Speaker 3: getting some uptake with marketing because I think he's just
- 52:33Speaker 3: a good player overall.
- 52:35Speaker 1: And we will end the show in a way I
- 52:36Speaker 1: didn't expect, talking about Roy Lopez, who I did not
- 52:39Speaker 1: know existed until very recently. And he plays for my
- 52:42Speaker 1: favorite team. But that is Nate Tice. Check him out.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Football 301 Yahoo Sports. Podcaster Charles McDonald.
- 52:48Speaker 2: My man, I appreciate you.
- 52:49Speaker 3: Thanks for having me. Always fun.
