- Nate Crowley: man, we're at home. Bear Bachmeyer hasn't lost a game at home. in his entire career. I feel like BOA's chances are great against anybody at home. I just think that we give ourselves a shot. Josh Crowley: Nate, in the words of the Nard Dog himself, I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you've actually left them. I think Nate Crowley: That's a fair point. Josh Crowley: that we are in the good old days of BYU football and we need to enjoy it. And I think that the good old days roll this weekend. And I am feeling wildly optimistic, especially for Coming off of two games that were kind of a mixed bag, still dubs, but kind of a mixed bag. And yeah, so I just wanna tell you my thoughts on why I'm actually feeling amazing going into Notre Dame and want to hear what you think. my take is that we have made the exact right mistakes at the right time leading up to this game. So for example, let's just say that Canon DeVries this weekend is might be able to go, might not be able to go. If last weekend Tiger Bachmeyer doesn't muff any punts and looks fine, then you probably put him out there healthy and you sit canon debris if he's kinda like you know maybe eighty percent or seventy percent healthy but because of the mistakes that were made I think you know if it's not canon it can't be tiger so you either go canon not fully healthy Or you find somebody else that can feel the punt even if they're not electric after the catch. so that's just that's that's one example, right? And then our our fourth and short play calling and execution, I guarantee that was hammered this week and that Arod is gonna come out with more creative and better better designed plays But the point being is that I just feel like between TCU, Iowa State, we've kind of made all the right mistakes at the right time where we still got the win, but our self scout is pretty thorough at this point. Like I think that we know what we're good at, we know what we're not good at, and I'm really hopeful that we have a game plan. if Colorado State can scheme up against our defense and get a touchdown, Let's manufacture scheme-wise a touchdown on these guys and then let our defense hang in there with them and gut out a gritty win, you know? anyway, I know it seems weird to be happy about the mistakes that we made, but while I was very frustrated in game, I kinda think that's best case scenario leading into this game. I think you have to be really not thinking a ton of yourself, but still have lots of reasons for optimism. I don't think we're going into this game feeling like we have no shot. I think that it leads into coming out just absolutely guns blazing, balls to the wall, and man, I think we win. I think we win this game. Nate Crowley: I love it. Josh Crowley: Are you Nate Crowley: You've caught me in the middle of watching Notre Dame versus UNC right now, I feel actually, after watching part of this game, that there's definitely opportunities for BYU to hang with these guys and probably beat And again, I I need to watch a little bit more of their stuff. But I think UNC and Wisconsin are the two games that they've gotten the most competitive against Notre Dame. So that's the two games I'm gonna watch. Michigan Josh Crowley: Michigan State, I think, too. Nate Crowley: State, did they hang with them for a minute? Anyway, Josh Crowley: For a little bit, Nate Crowley: So here's here's what I I will speak to your did our ice mistakes become ideal? And I think that there's a little bit of truth in that. I can agree to some of that. Where I think that the fourth down plays, the third and fourth and short, it's really bizarre that we went with Journey Tonga twice up the middle from Shotgun, essentially the same play twice in a row. That feels weird. and feels like Devon Eka is a way better suited person for that. I think Devon only ended up having three carries. I think he actually averaged like seven or eight yards a carry. Like all three of his runs were really nice. And and ironically, a lot of them seem to be kind of off tackle, a little bit more of the sweep action as opposed to like right up the middle. And maybe it's because he wears 25 that he just looks like Tyler Algier, but he just gives me Tyler Algier vibes. in general how I'm feeling about the game shifting gears. I think that Notre Dame fans, I don't know how much you've seen on social media, how they're just like, dude, they think that they're just rolling BYU in this game. So I think that all of BYU fans feel collectively like relatively confident for two main reasons. Number one The last time we played Notre Dame, 2022 in Vegas, so it wasn't a home game. Jaron was s hurt, threw all of pick on the first play of the game. Like, it's just a weird game. We still have a shot in that game. I think that a lot of us kind of remember that with like bad taste in our our mouth, but it came down to a fourth and one from like the thirty yard line and Katoa gets blown up. I don't know if anyone else recalls that. I do. It sucked. Yeah. Josh Crowley: Yeah, it was terrible. Nate Crowley: So I think that we look Notre Dame fans look back at that and they think that that's the BYU that's showing up on Saturday. Yeah, they're you know, they're a little bit better, blah, blah, blah. So I think Notre Dame fans are just like, we're gonna smoke these guys. We're way better than we were then. Like, if that's who's showing up, Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: it doesn't matter. That's why I think Notre Dame feels that way. And then I'll also speak to I think BYU remembers that game and goes, Yeah, we're also way better than we were. back then we're a completely different team. And then the other feeling that I get, and just watching some interviews this week from players and coaches, man, we're at home. Bear Bachmeyer hasn't lost a game at home. in his entire career. I feel like BOA's chances are great against anybody at home. I just think that we give ourselves a shot. And so I think between that Notre Dame, at least their fans, and maybe their players aren't showing up this way, but their fans are showing up thinking that this is just the hey, this is BYU. Yeah, we've played them a couple of times in the last decade. They're they're they're a tough physical team. cute little brat. Like that's how I think that they're showing up. And I think that they're gonna be shocked at Our athletes, our speed, and a lot of those things that just I think really played up BYU's favor. And I think that that's where you can see BYU get them, at least early in the game. And and again, I think that for me I'm I'm feeling like the only way that this is a negative, like a net negative, is if BYU gets blown out. If they just get blown out and untruthfully, I'll even say we can't even get blown out in the fourth quarter. Like it needs to be close. all the way until Josh Crowley: Correct. Nate Crowley: late in the fourth quarter. I mean, if they beat us by 10, but it's you know, they put up a touchdown with three minutes left in the game, that that still feels like a really competitive game versus, Josh Crowley: Yeah, yeah. Nate Crowley: you know, a a 17 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Like a that's just a completely different vibe. so I don't know. I'm I'm feeling more and more confident the closer the game gets. I don't think that their athletes are scarier than anybody that we're used to facing. And and again, I keep thinking about how did you feel going into the Texas Tech games last year? It felt like at least this is how I felt. that you had to play your your best game. Felt like you had to get your be very best shot. And I'm not feeling that way going into this game. I feel like that there's room for errors and it's okay to just, you know, we're gonna be okay. I just don't I don't see the the fear in the players in the coaches' eyes that there was going into that Texas Tech game a year ago where it was like, we don't have LJ or LJ's not a hundred percent and man their defensive line just looks so good. We're just gonna have to give and like Aaron ran two man routes out there with, you know, nine Josh Crowley: Mm. Nate Crowley: guys blocking or something crazy like that. So it was like I don't think That that's the approach to this game. So I think that also gives a different vibe heading into this. Josh Crowley: I don't I just don't see Arod showing up with the same game plan as Texas Tech. we we've seen that you're gonna have to get creative against these bigger, stronger, more athletic teams, bec for that reason, 'cause it didn't work. twice. Yeah, well, and the first drive that we have in the conference championship game was that, right? It was beautifully drawn up and and creative and marched right down the field is probably the best drive of the whole season. I'm really hoping that That's more of the approach, is like that first drive against Texas Tech in the conference championship game throughout the game. and then I'll say this: like I think I think your take that we don't have to play our best game is maybe a little bold. I mean, I do think they're really freaking good. I think that it's gonna take an excellently played game. I think we have very, very razor-thin margins. But to your point, I think. CJ Carr just does not like just to be frank, I'd be much more scared of Alabama. I'd be much more scared of some of these other teams that are in the top ten that are kind of like Nate Crowley: Ohio State. Josh Crowley: yeah, kind of like TCU esque. And well, and I mean Julian Saiyan is really good, but I actually put him kind of in the same category as CJ Carr. I'm I'm more just talking about like just the freak athlete. Nate Crowley: Mm. Josh Crowley: type teams where on the edges in the backfield at quarterback everywhere on the field it's just like freaky speed and I just don't think like I feel like Notre Dame does what we do essentially like really good team defense and a really physical O line and a really strong run game and then a quarterback that doesn't make many mistakes and They just get a lot more credit for it because they have gold helmets. Like that, that Nate Crowley: Mm-hmm. Josh Crowley: that's to me, that's what Notre Dame is, at least right now. And I'm like, yeah, that doesn't terrify me. I mean, I do think that we have to play really well because I think that they're doing everything that we're doing arguably better than us, but we'll see. I think there's a chance that our defense is way more athletic than they realize. And I think that anyway, my other really strong take on the game this weekend is I low key don't want Isaiah Glasker back. Is that terrible to say? Like in Nate Crowley: I know. Josh Crowley: this game, I kind of feel like we need Jake Clifton's head and ability. I feel like he kind of brings this other element and he's played really well and he's totally healthy. Jake Clifton, man, I think I think he's really good and I just don't feel like Zay has like I'm hoping that he's healthy enough to maybe come in situationally but not to be the guy and I know that sounds crazy but that's that's kind of how I feel about the Isaiah Glasker situation. But yeah, I think our team defense is really fast and I just think they're overlooking us. I think that they think that this is Wisconsin and that we are just this like bubble ready to be popped. And look, maybe maybe next week we're talking about 2015 Michigan and 2017 LSU. it could happen. I am honestly, and I was going to ask you this between us getting blown out, us blowing them out, close win, close loss, none of those feel even slightly improbable to me. Like I legitimately could see us running them off the field. I could see us not crossing the 50 and everything in between. And that's a scary place to be. I don't know how I'm supposed to enjoy that. That's that's the riddle that I'm trying to solve in my life right now. But I mean, do you agree? Like is there any scenario that you're Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: like, Yeah, I just don't see that happening. Nate Crowley: Yeah, no, I agree. I'm I've thought about and maybe it's just the dream state that I've put myself in thinking about running them off the field. But I I've I've I'm walking myself through games that have felt similar heading into this game. The Texas games when Taysom Hill was here, I'm thinking about last year, the Texas Tech games. I I of course thought about Michigan twenty fifteen. I thought about LSU 2017, you know, I thought about Washington in twenty nineteen with Puka Nakua. Right? Like I I remember how I felt going into some of those games, twenty twenty-two at Oregon and I remember thinking sp I'll use 2022 Oregon. I went into that game and I remember my buddy who came with me, he was like, Okay, so realistically tell me what's the way that we lose this game. And I was like, I think that Bo Nicks could dink and dunk us to death. I really think that he could find short stuff because we play our drop eight defense and he's gonna pick us apart and then they're gonna hit deep shots over the over the top. And my my buddy can verify that was what my answer was. And that's exactly what happened. my point is I've thought about going into similar feeling games heading into this one. And I'm right there with you. I could see everything that could happen. Like I I can convince myself that BYU is gonna somehow pull off a a win, play play a perfect game. Notre Dame is really good and BYU plays really good and it's just like this battle, you know, college game day, all the things. It's you know classic. And then I could also see BYU just like, listen, you got you don't you just don't come into Lavelle and you don't you just don't beat us. Like you just don't come in. And you're like, this isn't 2009. Josh Crowley: At night. Yep. Nate Crowley: Yeah, yeah, this isn't 2009, Florida State. Right? Like what we're we're gonna do, we're gonna hang with you guys and we're gonna take it to you. you're not ready for what we have going on. So I that's obviously where I'm choosing to live until I'm proven otherwise. But the fear of man, has BYU elevated to this tier? Because I think we've very much proven in the last two years, BYU elevated from a good independent program, scrappy, does more with less program to, hey, you're a power for championship level team, right? That that's obvious at this point. Josh Crowley: Yeah. Contender in the conference. Yeah. Nate Crowley: Right. So the next step is, are you a legit top 10 team? Right. And it seems like the way the AP voters vote BYU, it's like we're a backboard. it's like, well They're good and they deserve to be up here. And then it's like, but they're not better than Texas, Oklahoma, and as soon as LSU and Ole Miss have big wins, we're getting bumped behind them. You know what I mean? So it's just like unless we win this game. Josh Crowley: yeah. Unless we win this game and and yeah, and I would just man, if we won it by ten, I I look, I'll take any win. But holy cow, how incredible would it be if if we get a double digit victory it would be amazing. But I dream, I dream, as Oscar would say. Nate Crowley: Well, okay, let l let let's go. Where where's Boi ranked after this if they if they beat Notre Dame? Josh Crowley: I mean they probably do a similar type, you know, Alabama, Georgia, you know, that maybe we're s five and they're six kind of a thing, you know, and it just shuffles those people around. I it's hard for me to imagine us being a top five team unless we just wipe the floor and it's like Nate Crowley: Mm. Josh Crowley: from From start to finish, just a beatdown. Do you think we get all the way top five? Nate Crowley: Think I was thinking about it. They're two, and I think that that validates everything that all the BYU haters have been saying for the last little bit. And I think that again, the AP voters is it the AP polls just kind of this blob of random people's opinions. Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: So it's hard to know, but it does feel like, in my opinion, like three, four, and five. Is where I feel like BYU belongs and probably ends up. I just think three is crazy. they're probably not putting Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: BYU at three after that. I think some people might, because there's some people that are have bought into the Notre Dame stock. You know what I mean? And so I saw one Notre Dame fan say on Twitter that he was like, we need this to be a close game and a win for Notre Dame because if we blow them out. You can already hear the narratives that OBYU was actually not even a test for Notre Dame. they're not even good. So it's interesting that both of our fan bases are in this same room of like, we need to be good, we need to win, needs to be close. Like it's the incredibles. Go for second! Go for second. Like it's kind of that vibe. Josh Crowley: Yeah, yeah. A close second. Nate Crowley: Close second. Like it feels a little bit like that for both these programs. Because of the disrespect slash the playoff snub that both of these teams got a year ago. So I Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: I anyway, I the more I think about it, the more I'm just like we can't get in our own heads, right? I will be satisfied if BYU plays their best and they lose. I'll just I'll be like, you know what? That was our best. But that's where the Texas Tech Games, both of them last year. felt so frustrating where it was like our defense played out of its mind that first game and you know was just c creating so many turnovers, havoc and all the things and our offense just couldn't do anything. You know what I mean? I wanted equal amount of aggressiveness out of the offense as the defense was having. So again, that's just what I hope for this game. I just want to see BYU play the way we know that they're capable of and you know if they're in our backfield all game long and we can't even, do anything 'cause their defensive line's just in our face. Well, that's good for them. Tip to cap. You just say, I guess we're not to that tier. I guess is the conclusion is you just say, well, that's where we're at. But I just want us to see I just want to see this do what we know we can do, you know? And I think that Josh Crowley: I know. Nate Crowley: if that happens, then yeah, I I like our chances to to have a shot. I guess is what I'm trying to say. How about what let let's let's call a shot right now. Matthias Dunn ends up being the hero of this game. Could you imagine? Redshirt Senior has kicked the most meaningless field goals, you know, no field goals, and then the most meaningless field goals this season, and he just bombs a a forty five yarder to to win the game against Notre Dame. Like Josh Crowley: my gosh. Yeah, I know. That would be that would be amazing. Dude, here's what I'm hoping, which I haven't watched the cut yet tonight. I can't wait Nate Crowley: Me neither. Josh Crowley: to watch it. But I hope on the cut in a week, dude, we get full blooded Tongan Kalani in the locker room saying things like these guys didn't want the smoke at the end of last year, and now they think that they're gonna come into Lavelle's house and take it from you. I hope that it is just he leans fully into that side of himself because listen, I love all parts of Kalani. I love Kalani's Take. Sometimes he goes too far, Lavelle, just you know, settle everything like I want 2016 Utah bad targeting call like K Kalani that like every one of those players is ready to just murder somebody on the field because he just juices them up to an insane degree. Like anyway, I hope I just hope that we have some pure gold cinema out of Kalani's Take. And that's where I'm just like, they're gonna do it. Like they all knew that the task of getting to 5-0 and getting to this point was achievable. And we've done it and we've just kind of done it like in a very business like way and I'm like, dude, unleash the hounds, bro. Like just everything in your bag. Let's go. Nate Crowley: So a little birdie has told me something. This is sources with an A spelled you know, sources. We apparently have some interesting stuff lined up for this that's been happening in practice for weeks now. with play action and handoff type stuff. And just I I'm not gonna say too much, just some good trick plays, you know, with. somebody who has a very unique first name. I'll just say that. That I think that we'll we'll see some some stuff and I think it probably comes out in this game and that Yep. Yep, that's exactly who I'm referring to. It's a Josh Crowley: Tao Seeley. His name is Tao Seeley. We throw him over the offensive line. It's it's a it's we brought in the BYU cheer team and it's toss as soon as the snap goes. That's the trick play. I'm just kidding. Nate Crowley: So again, I and again, this other source this source that I have has been telling me that it feels like both offense and defense has been holding back a lot of film for this game. And the only part of that that makes me feel nervous Josh Crowley: my heart. Nate Crowley: is that what if they're just not executing it? Like, do you remember a couple years ago with Jaron was this quarterback, and there was this play that him and Katoa. would shift to one side and Jaron would clap for it. And then it was a snap to Katoa. And we had a false start or a pre-snap penalty. Every single Josh Crowley: Yes. Nate Crowley: time we lined up in that formation, we never saw. We never saw an actual play come to fruition out of that formation. So that's my Josh Crowley: All right. Yes. Nate Crowley: only concern hearing something like that, that if it's true and we see some of it, that either the players are too giddy and they're, you know, false starting or Or whatever else. that's my only concern if that's the if that's the case. But a and and then the other thing I'll say is like you said with the Texas Tech game, it felt like we've kind of threw the kitchen sink at them on that first drive of the game in that Big Twelve Championship and it led to a touchdown. So my hope is is that it's enough stuff sprinkled in or with stuff that we've already shown that's kind of a wrinkle off of stuff that's already on film. Josh Crowley: Right. Nate Crowley: And I feel like A Rod, that is his That is his mojo, right? He is a very Josh Crowley: Totally. Nate Crowley: much set stuff up for the future kind of a coach. And so anyway, just keep that in mind. You heard it here on Brutally Honest. You're gonna probably see some stuff you haven't seen yet. So Josh Crowley: I loved the Legend Glasker front pitch play. I was like, that should be our standard run play. until people start to figure that out and then switch it up again. okay, so here was where I wanted to take the conversation at this point. How far would you go to guarantee a win this weekend? So let me kick you some scenarios. I think I already know where we're headed on number one. So if you c if you know unquestionably that the other one is a loss and it's this game in Utah, which one's a win? Nate Crowley: Utah. Josh Crowley: Utah all day, every day. a hundred percent. That that is the brutally honest take. And if you disagree, you're wrong. And please get in our comments for engagement and come at me, bro. And I will clap back this time. All right. Now Let's say that you guarantee a win against Notre Dame and you guarantee a loss in the remaining six, but you don't know who it's against. Are you taking that bet? Nate Crowley: The gamble for being Utah is it's it's it's probably too much for me. It's probably too much for So so is the alternative Josh Crowley: Yeah. I know. Nate Crowley: that we lose to Notre Dame but win out? yeah, then I'm picking that. I'm picking that. Josh Crowley: And we go undefeated. Yeah. It's not close. It's not close. Yeah. That's definitely the right answer. So I mean, I don't know. Like what what would you be willing to give? Is it just a guaranteed loss to anyone not named Utah to to beat Notre Dame? Nate Crowley: I was gonna say I'm I'm willing to give up two losses if it's not Utah. Josh Crowley: In the final Nate Crowley: a loss to ESU and a loss to Baylor if it meant a guaranteed win against Notre Dame. and Utah. 'Cause that's really what I'm saying. Josh Crowley: The only the only thing about that is we are really believing that Utah drops another game. Right? Because Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: if they only end up a one loss team and Texas Tech probably ends up being a one loss or Nate Crowley: Mm. Josh Crowley: zero loss team, you know, you you hope that the two losses to lower competition Nate Crowley: That's so Josh Crowley: doesn't drop you out of the playoff. So I don't think I go two, bro. I think I go one. I think I say if we guarantee a win against Utah, I'm willing to guarantee a loss against a lower team and you just call it a fumble because then we we still play in the conference championship game, almost certainly, right? Because we would hold the tiebreaker over the Utes. but I will also say Nate Crowley: I I know I'm taking Josh Crowley: that neither Texas Tech nor Utah has convinced me fully that they don't stumble. So maybe I rolled the dice on that in I don't know. I think I would need a guarantee that this is like not just a win, but a convincing win or something like that. Nate Crowley: Mm. Josh Crowley: to to roll the dice on a two loss deal with the devil. Nate Crowley: I'd roll the dice. I'm I'm taking the I'm taking the rolled dice. You know, if if you're guaranteeing a win against Utah and Notre Dame and you're know that there's two other losses in the season, I'm taking that chance and just rolling the dice that somehow you end up in the Big Twelve Championship game still. Josh Crowley: Well and this conference is wild. there is six teams minimum that are fully in the conversation. Nate Crowley: Dude, Oklahoma State is call back to last episode, you were really right in many ways about what we saw. from BYU as a team against Iowa State, really the thing that we just didn't account for was bad red zone decisions, right? Josh Crowley: Yeah. dude, I know. I really thought that that running back was that they were gonna get some cheeky nastiness on us and shout out to our defense. I mean that was just that was just stellar. it was so fantastic. But yeah, I probably would've nailed our forty five, and honestly, here's the other thing. I feel like everyone is TO'd about the the play calling in the red zone. I I actually like, yes, go under center with Bear and just pick up the yard. I agree with that. I actually feel like we've been calling for more passing plays and to not be obvious in the run game and to not do the obvious thing. And I mean, we're inches away from a pair of touchdown throws that, you know, we would all be singing the praises and and you know there's 14 points right there. we did get a segment request from loyal listener Gary. So we we ought not to let this episode go without taking that up. So he pointed out that both Michigan State and Kentucky at home in overtime go for two for the win. one was successful, one wasn't. So if it comes down to a going for two either in O T or end of game scenario do you go for two? And then if we do go for two, what's your play call? Nate Crowley: I have so many contingencies that my answer is just gonna be such a cop out. Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: the first one is gonna be is it at home or away? So let's just say the Notre Dame game this weekend. Okay, Josh Crowley: Yeah, we're talking about this weekend. Yeah. Nate Crowley: so if it's at home, I tend to play for overtime. That's my first instinct. Secondly, is this is the tie 1717 or is the tie 3131? That completely changes my decision. based off of where you feel like if your offense hasn't produced, then you play for overtime because you're already in scoring, you're already in the red zone Versus when it's, high scoring, it's almost like our we're already burned out. We feel like we have given everything we've got up to this point. And that's how I felt watching the Kentucky LSU game was I was like, go for two. Just, win this game. Shut them up, and and obviously paid off for them. so that's like my initial reaction. And so what was the part two to the question? Josh Crowley: if the call is to go for two, what's your play call? Nate Crowley: man. Not a goal line fade. Whatever that. Not that. Goodness Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: gracious. That is the last decision. And not 2016 Utah QB draw with nobody the Josh Crowley: Well, that's the last decision, Nate Crowley: with Bear, I liked what we did against Arizona, and I actually don't think it was a two-point play. I think it was to send it to overtime, or it was in overtime and it was a touchdown. But it him rolling to the right and then he tucks and kind of dives into the end zone. I like that stuff. I like having Bear having the ability to run and pass when he's so big. I also think that sometimes teams overthink it and they always go for a pass. You know what I mean? And I'm like, if you have a run play that you feel good about, then then let's let's go for it. So that's kind of where I lean more run than pass. I guess is what I'm trying to say. Josh Crowley: Yeah. I agree one hundred percent on your do you go for two. I think it all depends upon which side of the ball is playing well, how the game has gone, what what momentum is doing. You know, if you're storming back from 21 down and you've scored three straight touchdowns and you just feel like we can't be stopped on this play, but we really struggled for quite a while, like just punch it in. but If you're going for two, my play call. Well, first of all, I really liked Iowa State's play call where he ends up, you know, just pitching it over the top Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: to his tight end. Like I'm like, dude, get that in our bag for sure. But I would say that you actually run the play call that I that I called out with legend coming kind of in front of the quarterback, but It's it's like a quadruple option. So if numbers make perfect sense to just pitch it to legend and let him use speed to get into the end zone, you pitch it. If numbers don't say that, the blocking scheme is still for that to happen. But if you have numbers to your right, then you and Preston Rex go into speed option, the other direction. You have the pitch option, you have the take it option, and then you have a tight end running out in the flat. And so if somebody commits to stopping your run and he's wide open, you pitch it over the top. armchair quarterback, it feels so obvious. It feels so easy. but yeah. The watching that play, if you go back and watch it again, I'm like, the possibilities are endless off of this play. I hope that that's what's in our bag, and that Arod is planning on Notre Dame scouting just the pitch to legend, and he's like, you got no clue what I'm doing off of this. That that's why I hope he showed it. Nate Crowley: Mm. Josh Crowley: and that it's not just a one and done. So first of all, you're going to the game, correct? You're Nate Crowley: I am. Josh Crowley: you're going to the game. let's chat signs. So a couple Nate Crowley: Mm. Josh Crowley: years ago, me and you went to the UCF game. I thought that we had a great sign that we came up with in the car, which was Mormon Kids Love a Bounce House. Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: I think was what we went with. So I love a creative sign. So have you thought at all about great game day, college game day signs for BYU Notre Dame? I've got I got a couple to whet your appetite and then and then see if anything comes to you. So I just think there would be a great like Manti repentance is real, come home. Or something, you know, something to to the Manti Tao. And put the religion aspect into it, just hey, the atonement is real, come home, kind of a thing. Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: I think that you could do some great stuff with indulgences won't save you tonight or ever. Right? I mean, come on. Nate Crowley: That's good. Josh Crowley: That is that is gold. If you're watching this and you're gonna be at game day. Please put it on there and then just a little brutally honest BYU pod at the bottom. I will please. that would just be pure gold. Indulgences aren't gonna save you tonight or ever. Nate Crowley: the other one that you gotta like immediately think of is Rudy, 'cause Rudy's baptized now as a member. So Josh Crowley: Right. Right. Rudy saw the light. Yeah, Rudy saw the light. Nate Crowley: I feel like there's a way to be like, even Rudy doesn't cheer from Notre Dame anymore, or something like that, or like even Rudy's Josh Crowley: Yes. Yes. Nate Crowley: a BYU fan now, or you Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: know, something like that Notre Dame's helmets aren't the only things that get sprayed the night before the game, and then it's a shot of Freeman's hairline because he's not Josh Crowley: Yes, Marcus Freeman. Nate Crowley: Marcus Freeman, he's not getting past the Allegations because they had a game that it was raining and he never wears a baseball hat and he was wearing a hat because I think that his hairline would have been drizzling down his forehead because he spray Josh Crowley: my gosh. Nate Crowley: paints his hairline on. So I think that that's a good sign, like a picture of the Notre Dame helmets, a picture Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: zoomed up of his forehead and being like not the only thing. Josh Crowley: Yes. Spray paint. Just th just literally it just says spray paint and it's just the helmet and his head. That that's Nate Crowley: It's just hairline. Josh Crowley: golden right there. Nate Crowley: or at BYU again, everybody's doing the send me beer money, bro. Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: Send me root beer money. Send me sodalicious money. Send know, send me dirty soda money, right? Like stuff Josh Crowley: exactly. Yes, yes. Nate Crowley: like that. That's funny. It's it plays it's self deprecating. Josh Crowley: yeah. Buy buy me a cougar tail tonight. Yeah, yeah, it's something yeah, that's Nate Crowley: Right. Those are all great. Josh Crowley: that's really good. yeah, I mean just think that the religion stuff is just wide open. I think there's so much gold in there, Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: in the coffers from the sale of indulgences. No, I okay, I'll I'll drop it. Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: Okay, and then there's been a fair amount of discussion, but I think it's really fun. Who who's your pick for the celebrity picker? Frankly I don't like any of the ones that have been thrown around, but I don't have great alternatives if I'm being honest. But what do you think? Nate Crowley: mean, I I just saw that Kyle Van Noy said that he he wasn't asked, which I thought that he would have been great. He has a by bye week this week. I think he would have been fun. I mean, I I just think that it's pretty cheap to just like say Steve Young, but like it's Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: that's like who comes to my mind. I mean, Fred Warner. I love Puka, but the guy's got so much CTE, I don't trust him to say anything. Josh Crowley: Right. Nate Crowley: so I'm not picking him. Josh Crowley: I've seen a lot of people saying AJ and like I get that he's got clout and aura and all the stuff, but like listen, AJ's not a great interview to me. He's just not. And I also don't think he waves the BYU flag like super high. I'd take Yeagor over AJ a hundred times over if that's the route you're going, because I think Yeagor is is all in on being a BYU cougar and a latter day Saint. I mean, all the you know, I think Nate Crowley: Yeah, yeah. Josh Crowley: I think that'd be fantastic. He's actually probably my top pick. Well, KVN, truthfully, KVN waves the BYU flag in an accessible to everyone way. so well that I think he's he's probably the top pick. I've seen a bunch of people talking about Walker's girlfriend from Dancing with the Stars and I'm like, for the love? is she really? Nate Crowley: Dude, she's a Utah fan. She's she has she has posts on her on her Instagram of being a Utah fan. Josh Crowley: my gosh, for the love of all that is holy, please not that. And then you saw Jerem's Ken Jennings. I'm like, that's Nate Crowley: I don't even know who that is. Josh Crowley: the Jeopardy champion. The the all time Jeopardy champion and he's he's now the host. And I mean he's Nate Crowley: And he's a BYU guy? Josh Crowley: yeah, yeah, he graduated from BYU. But like he's brilliant and he's a fine Nate Crowley: No. No. Josh Crowley: personality, but I'm like, what? Like that I don't know. I don't know. I don't think it's as bad as as the Walker Lions girlfriend one. I I would choose Ken Nate Crowley: No. I mean Josh Crowley: Jennings over that, but like I don't know, dude. Just Jimmer's a great. Nate Crowley: Jimmer Jimmer's the other one, right? Josh Crowley: Yeah, Jimmer's Jimmer's awesome. but yeah, Yeagor. and I love Fred. Nate Crowley: Jimmer safe, you know, a safe option. I mean, I would love Fred would be awesome. I would love Jimmy Mac. Give me Jimmy McMahon. Josh Crowley: Yeah. my gosh. Talk about leaning into the crazy. my goodness. That would be that would be wild. Nate Crowley: Dude, that guy, yeah. I think it took College Game Day over a decade, coming up on two decades, to come back to Provo after coming once, because I don't think the turnout was super great in the environment Josh Crowley: Yeah. Nate Crowley: of game day. And then we got blown out by TCU. And so Josh Crowley: Mm. Yeah. Right. Nate Crowley: again I think that both those, I think the two last two years that Big Noon Kickoff has come to Provo has shown that BYU fans are gonna show up. It's gonna be legit. Josh Crowley: yeah. didn't Nate Crowley: there's some BYU student who's gonna win a million dollars, from Pat McAfee probably kicking a field goal. Josh Crowley: Did you see the did you see the kid that's like gunning for it? There's a Nate Crowley: No. Josh Crowley: there's a kid that is on Instagram right now who is like sending video after video of himself kicking, saying like I was cut from my freshman soccer team, but he's like, BYU fans, you gotta get this in front of Pat because if I win a million dollars, 500,000 is going straight to BYU's N I L. And I'm like I love this kid! Let's go! I'm like, I just that is exactly where my money would go if Nate Crowley: Yeah. Josh Crowley: I if I won a million dollars on college game day. It's awesome. So I hope that happens. Nate Crowley: That's amazing. Josh Crowley: anyway, Nate Crowley: By the way, I'd I'd nail that if it ever happened to me. I would have I would have smashed that straight to the uprights. Josh Crowley: okay, well, just a quick recap on score predictions. So you score or I scored ten, you scored fourteen. So you're up by twelve, eighty seven to seventy five. So let's do score predictions. I mean I've already kinda let the cat out of the bag. I feel like it could go anyway, but I am gonna go twenty one twenty cougars. I'm gonna say that it's not a game winning field goal. I'm gonna say that we're down fourteen to twenty and a game winning drive to go down and win and just it's gonna explode, dude, and field storm the whole the whole shebang. It's gonna be amazing. Nate Crowley: I have two scores in my head that I'm dancing between. I'm gonna go 27-24. I think it is a game-winning field goal. I think it's Matthias Dunn kicking a game winner. Josh Crowley: Love it. Nate Crowley: Storm the field, Josh Crowley: I can't freaking wait, dude. It's gonna be it's gonna be legendary. My girls are gonna be out of town. I am gonna sit my butt in front of the couch and watch every last minute of college game day and college football all day long. Me and my boy. So can't wait. any last words? Nate Crowley: Awesome. Okay. No, I just go cougs forever. This is the Super Bowl this week. the Utah game's still more important. So Josh Crowley: absolutely. And we could go on and on about why, but it is. But this week this is the most important game and the upside of beating Notre Dame is certainly incredibly high So the fan life chose us, baby. Let's go. Nate Crowley: Go cooks.
