Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Jr. From Pig Destroyer. I scream and yell at.
- 0:03Speaker 2: You beautiful, wonderful.
- 0:06Speaker 3: It's been over fifteen years since your last visit to Australia.
- 0:09Speaker 2: What finally brought Pig Destroyer back?
- 0:13Speaker 4: Uh? You know, the when you have people in a
- 0:16Speaker 4: band who were as busy as we do, it's it's
- 0:19Speaker 4: just hard to get all the stars to align, you know,
- 0:21Speaker 4: And a Australian tour is a is a massive undertaking.
- 0:25Speaker 4: There's a lot of flights and you.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Know, I think my cat's trying to attack me every here.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You know, it's a lot of flights and like you know,
- 0:33Speaker 1: having things that you got to get organized.
- 0:36Speaker 4: We're just really really excited that we could get worm
- 0:38Speaker 4: Rod on the tour and and hit.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Some some of the towns that we didn't do last time,
- 0:44Speaker 1: which will be very very cool.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yes, so awesome.
- 0:47Speaker 3: And with were how did you how did that come about?
- 0:51Speaker 3: How did you decide that they were going to support
- 0:53Speaker 3: you guys?
- 0:55Speaker 4: I'm not sure who originally came up with the idea,
- 0:59Speaker 4: but we we've known those guys for for many years
- 1:02Speaker 4: and we've played some shows of them, uh and uh,
- 1:06Speaker 4: you know, just uh they've been one of the top
- 1:09Speaker 4: grindcore bands I think in the world for the last
- 1:11Speaker 4: ten years or so. So, uh, it's a great band
- 1:15Speaker 4: to have along. Just have to make sure they'll blow
- 1:18Speaker 4: you off the stage.
- 1:18Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yeah, they're pretty You don't want to bring a band
- 1:22Speaker 4: on tour who is too good.
- 1:23Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:26Speaker 3: And your live shows are known for their sheer intensity.
- 1:29Speaker 3: How do you mentally prepare for that level of chaos?
- 1:34Speaker 4: If I mean it's grindcore, you just you just have
- 1:37Speaker 4: to go all in.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You have to push all your chips in.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, if you can't expect the audience to
- 1:42Speaker 4: become invested if you're not invested, you know.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So it's a it's it's an energy thing. You know.
- 1:48Speaker 4: The crowd can tell when you're you know, when you're
- 1:51Speaker 4: phoning it in, you know.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Do you feel like it's a symbiotic relationship, like you
- 1:57Speaker 3: feed off the energy of the crowd as well?
- 1:59Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Well that's what makes uh that's what makes
- 2:03Speaker 4: just punk and metal music special, you know, is uh
- 2:06Speaker 4: is the audience is just as much a part of
- 2:09Speaker 4: you know, or or or in certain cases like the
- 2:12Speaker 4: Obscene Extreme festival in Czech Republic, Like sometimes the audience
- 2:16Speaker 4: is the show, you know, So I just I just
- 2:21Speaker 4: love that, Uh, you know, I mean I love all
- 2:24Speaker 4: kinds of music, but there's no there's no experience that's quite.
- 2:27Speaker 1: The same as a as a death metal grindcore show.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yeah yeah one and Peak Destroyers Sounds strips metals to
- 2:35Speaker 3: its Strip's metal to its Aurora's form. Has that approach
- 2:38Speaker 3: evolved or deepened with time?
- 2:40Speaker 4: For you, guys, I think our approaches remained pretty much
- 2:45Speaker 4: the same. I think, Uh, we just always want to
- 2:48Speaker 4: try to write the craziest thing that we can write,
- 2:51Speaker 4: and we don't. We don't really care about how many
- 2:54Speaker 4: records we sell. We never we never have, So we
- 2:59Speaker 4: we just try to make something that we're happy with,
- 3:01Speaker 4: and then when we get a chance to play it live,
- 3:02Speaker 4: we try to play it as hard as we can.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You know, something that's funny about you guys is that
- 3:08Speaker 3: you with your lyrics, they're really deep and intense oftentimes,
- 3:13Speaker 3: and they can delve into some pretty blank territory.
- 3:17Speaker 2: But seeing past.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Interviews with you guys and seeing you guys on stage,
- 3:21Speaker 3: you all look like the loveliest people ever. Where do
- 3:24Speaker 3: you find the inspiration for such visceral themes.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I mean, well, I think there's a few different parts
- 3:33Speaker 1: to it. I think that.
- 3:36Speaker 4: With the with the type of music, I think you
- 3:39Speaker 4: try to gravitate towards darker kind of you know, more
- 3:43Speaker 4: transgressive sort of subject matter.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Because it's just strange, you know too.
- 3:51Speaker 4: I mean, I know that there's bands out there who
- 3:53Speaker 4: do this, like the kind of tree huggy bands who
- 3:55Speaker 4: want to write about nature and whales and stuff, and
- 3:59Speaker 4: that's cool, but you know, uh, we we we like
- 4:02Speaker 4: to try to keep it like dark and kind of
- 4:04Speaker 4: death metally, you know. But but live, we're we're just
- 4:08Speaker 4: a bunch of idiots release and and we can't can't
- 4:11Speaker 4: we can't cover that up. So uh so when when
- 4:15Speaker 4: we play live, then you then you kind of see
- 4:17Speaker 4: us for what we really are, you know.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think you've just created a new genre
- 4:21Speaker 3: as well. By the way, that would be so interesting
- 4:23Speaker 3: to see a metal band talk about hippie stuff in
- 4:25Speaker 3: then lyrics like that would be.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Well, you know, uh, there's a there's a slam death
- 4:32Speaker 4: metal band that we played with in Switzerland. Yeah, and
- 4:35Speaker 4: their name escapes me at the moment, but I think
- 4:39Speaker 4: they started out like with the typical kind of gore stuff.
- 4:42Speaker 1: But now they just sing about surfing.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 4: And then and they have surfboards on stage, and they
- 4:48Speaker 4: have you know, they play in swimsuits and and you
- 4:51Speaker 4: know that's their their thing.
- 4:54Speaker 2: That's awesome. I'm gonna have to check them out.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I feel bad.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I wish, I wish I could remember name, but I
- 5:00Speaker 4: think they had the name before the surfing thing came up,
- 5:03Speaker 4: because it doesn't really like jive, you know.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 5:08Speaker 3: And do you ever surprised asselves with just how dark
- 5:12Speaker 3: your songwriting can get.
- 5:16Speaker 4: I mean, I don't like necessarily try to make it dark.
- 5:20Speaker 4: It just is what it is, you know what I mean.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I mean, I'm glad people think it's dark, you know, uh,
- 5:28Speaker 4: just but I have to have a.
- 5:32Speaker 1: There has to be more to something than just shock value. Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 1: you know, Like I don't.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Ever really write something just because I want to unnerve
- 5:41Speaker 4: somebody like I. There has to be some sort of
- 5:45Speaker 4: like emotional thing or something real attached to it that
- 5:49Speaker 4: makes it resonate. Like that's that's why people, I think
- 5:53Speaker 4: respond to it.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 5:55Speaker 4: It's if I if I just write about a bunch
- 5:57Speaker 4: of dark shit that I don't care about, then I
- 6:01Speaker 4: can't really expect anybody to else to care about it either,
- 6:04Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, No, that's exactly right.
- 6:06Speaker 3: And that's why I think your music does resonate with people, because.
- 6:09Speaker 2: As you said, it's not just about the shock factor.
- 6:12Speaker 3: You're actually saying something within those lyrics as well.
- 6:15Speaker 2: It's not just yeah, go for the sake of god shock.
- 6:19Speaker 4: You know, music makes an emotional attachment to people. That's
- 6:23Speaker 4: why they take it so seriously.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 6:25Speaker 4: And and when when you find a band or a
- 6:28Speaker 4: song or an album that I mean, I'm sure you
- 6:32Speaker 4: know the feeling when you throw it on and you
- 6:34Speaker 4: just know you're.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Like, these are my people. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Like and it's it's like you've already heard it a
- 6:40Speaker 4: thousand times because it was like it was made just
- 6:43Speaker 4: for you, you know what I mean, And that that
- 6:46Speaker 4: sort of connection is not something that happened. You know,
- 6:48Speaker 4: it might only happen one in every thousand records a year,
- 6:52Speaker 4: but when it does happen, it's worth it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It makes it all worth it, you know.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely, definitely.
- 6:58Speaker 3: And do you have any us memories from your time
- 7:01Speaker 3: here in Australia. I know it was quite a while
- 7:03Speaker 3: ago now, but do you have anything that sticks out?
- 7:08Speaker 4: Playing in Tasmania was really awesome. That was that was
- 7:11Speaker 4: a really wild time. Uh.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Playing with Blood Duster was amazing. Uh.
- 7:17Speaker 4: You know, we got to play with Extortion for the
- 7:18Speaker 4: first time when we played in Perth.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Uh.
- 7:22Speaker 4: And Australia has always had such a great grind core scene,
- 7:26Speaker 4: so uh, that's probably the thing I'm most excited about
- 7:29Speaker 4: is just to see some of the opening bands and
- 7:32Speaker 4: you know, uh and hopefully you know, meet some of
- 7:35Speaker 4: the guys that I've been you know, following their bands
- 7:37Speaker 4: for a while. Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, awesome. And you guys have carved out legendary status
- 7:43Speaker 2: in grind court.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Do you feel pressure to live up to that each
- 7:46Speaker 3: time you're released new material?
- 7:50Speaker 1: No, I mean I just think.
- 7:54Speaker 4: I know that we're all going to put in the work,
- 7:56Speaker 4: so uh, you know, we're not We're not going to
- 7:59Speaker 4: put out something that we don't stand behind, so uh, yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 4: I don't really worry about it. You know, It's it's
- 8:07Speaker 4: really just a matter of making it happen in a
- 8:11Speaker 4: reasonable amount of time, you know, and having our last
- 8:16Speaker 4: album was out in twenty eighteen. That's not really a
- 8:18Speaker 4: reasonable amount of time. So you know, uh, we're we're
- 8:23Speaker 4: into the unreasonable amount of time zone.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Is that a hint at possibly even more material coming soon?
- 8:32Speaker 4: Or yeah, we want to have a record out by
- 8:34Speaker 4: the end of next year. We're going to try everything
- 8:37Speaker 4: we can to make that happen.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Oh, we don't want our We don't want the next
- 8:42Speaker 4: record to be the tenth anniversary of the previous records.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That's you know.
- 8:48Speaker 4: I mean, I guess it's cool when Tool does it,
- 8:50Speaker 4: but I don't know if it's cool when we do
- 8:53Speaker 4: it would be.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And in an age where metal is more polished than ever,
- 8:58Speaker 3: how important is it for Zon that rawness, that peak
- 9:01Speaker 3: destroyer thrives on.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, uh, that's like preaching the gospel right there.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I mean, I just I think there's so much.
- 9:11Speaker 4: I'm that guy who I don't I don't like click tracks,
- 9:14Speaker 4: I don't like pro tools, I don't like overdubs. I
- 9:18Speaker 4: want everything to sound like a band in a room,
- 9:21Speaker 4: like and honest, you know, because I think that the
- 9:27Speaker 4: best music is flawed music, you know, and when when
- 9:30Speaker 4: when things are too perfect, it it just becomes Katy
- 9:34Speaker 4: Perry to me, and like, like, I don't care if
- 9:36Speaker 4: it's death metal, it's just it's it's pop music at
- 9:39Speaker 4: that point because it's it sounds like it's made by
- 9:42Speaker 4: aliens or something. It doesn't sound like it's made by
- 9:45Speaker 4: by people.
- 9:46Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And that's you know, And now we're getting into like
- 9:51Speaker 4: the the era of AI and like God knows the
- 9:55Speaker 4: abominations that we're all going to have to put up with.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yes, yes, good point.
- 9:59Speaker 3: So in saying that, does it usually take you guys
- 10:02Speaker 3: when you are recording in the studio? Does it take
- 10:04Speaker 3: you guys very little playthroughs to get a song down
- 10:08Speaker 3: and write there's something that sounds right to you guys?
- 10:12Speaker 4: I mean I the last two albums that we've done,
- 10:17Speaker 4: I did all my vocals in one day. So I
- 10:22Speaker 4: typically I do I do one take or two takes
- 10:26Speaker 4: like if it if it, if it's more than that,
- 10:28Speaker 4: then then I'm not.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It's not right, you know what I mean?
- 10:31Speaker 4: Like I you know, it has to be like from
- 10:34Speaker 4: the hip a little bit, you know, because I think, uh,
- 10:38Speaker 4: you have to be really careful with a studio is
- 10:40Speaker 4: a very scale kind of sterile environment.
- 10:43Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And uh, it's sort of like you know, hanging out
- 10:48Speaker 4: in a hospital or something like that. You know, it's
- 10:50Speaker 4: it's it's never never the place that you really want
- 10:53Speaker 4: to be, but yet you have.
- 10:54Speaker 1: To be there and make it, make it happen.
- 10:56Speaker 4: And and if you stay there too long, then it'll
- 10:59Speaker 4: drive you crazy, you know, yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 2: For sure.
- 11:01Speaker 3: And and things can I think what you're saying is
- 11:03Speaker 3: things can sound a bit too polished.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know, uh, I don't know I would
- 11:11Speaker 4: ever try to aspire to polishness, you know.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I think I think that the.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Dirtier and the the more raw that it is, the
- 11:20Speaker 4: more uh, the more real that it sounds, you know. Uh,
- 11:25Speaker 4: like the best Uh some of my favorite albums are
- 11:28Speaker 4: by bands that don't even sound like they're playing the
- 11:31Speaker 4: same songs sometimes because they're playing so fast and it's
- 11:35Speaker 4: so out of control that you can't you know, uh,
- 11:38Speaker 4: you can't fake that sort of stuff.
- 11:40Speaker 1: It's just that's what makes it exciting, you know.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It's sort of sort of that push, the push and
- 11:45Speaker 4: pull of the order and the chaos. You know, yes,
- 11:47Speaker 4: when when everything when everything is too ordered, it just
- 11:50Speaker 4: doesn't it just doesn't make sense to.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Me, definitely, and I think it also doesn't translate well
- 11:55Speaker 3: sometimes to a live performance as well. If things are
- 11:58Speaker 3: too polished, it's like, can you ever capture that live.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Well?
- 12:03Speaker 4: I mean, if it was up to me, all of
- 12:04Speaker 4: our albums would be recorded live in front of in
- 12:07Speaker 4: front of an audience, because I think that's how you
- 12:10Speaker 4: would get the.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Best thing, you know what I mean?
- 12:15Speaker 4: You know, like the MC five's first album is a
- 12:17Speaker 4: live album, and and it's a it's a ripper, you
- 12:20Speaker 4: know what I mean. Uh, I don't know why more
- 12:22Speaker 4: people don't do it, honestly.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, maybe I've got you thinking for the next
- 12:27Speaker 3: album then live.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Scott handles the production stuff, he doesn't, you know, like
- 12:35Speaker 4: he'll let me, he'll let me run my mouth, but
- 12:37Speaker 4: at the end of the day, he's the one that's
- 12:39Speaker 4: he's the one that's recording the band, you know.
- 12:43Speaker 3: And you're sharing the stage with Rod. What's your take
- 12:46Speaker 3: on this sound and ferocity?
- 12:48Speaker 4: I mean, they're just they're just a great band, just
- 12:50Speaker 4: very exciting to watch live and uh they and they
- 12:55Speaker 4: they they get.
- 12:56Speaker 1: The crowd worked up like and really excited.
- 12:59Speaker 4: The first time that I saw them play at Maryland Deathfest.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Uh.
- 13:04Speaker 4: You know, they they had been trying to come over
- 13:07Speaker 4: for a couple of years and then they finally made
- 13:09Speaker 4: it and the crowd was just so excited to see them,
- 13:12Speaker 4: and like they just got such great energy, you know.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So uh yeah, it's it's gonna be fun.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah, hell yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 3: And other any other newer grind or extreme bands you
- 13:23Speaker 3: feel a pushing boundaries like Peak Destroyer one Stude.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there's a ton of them out there, kind
- 13:31Speaker 4: of kind of mind blowing. Actually, Uh, I'm doing a
- 13:36Speaker 4: I'm doing like a small label where I've been putting
- 13:38Speaker 4: out CDs and stuff. One of the CDs we just
- 13:41Speaker 4: did is by a band called Mellow harsher Man. They
- 13:44Speaker 4: actually have a split with Internal Rot, who are from Melbourne. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 4: and they're they're a ripping grindcore band and uh and
- 13:55Speaker 4: if you haven't heard sex Prisoner, uh, sex Prisoner is
- 13:58Speaker 4: is the Uh They're they're the new alpha dog to me,
- 14:02Speaker 4: like they're I haven't seen a band of a grandcore
- 14:05Speaker 4: band heavier.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Than them yet, so interesting. Somebody else is going to
- 14:10Speaker 1: have to step up to the plate.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's awesome. They sound good.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And if someone was completely unfamiliar with Picked Destroyer and
- 14:18Speaker 3: they showed up to one of your shows, what do
- 14:20Speaker 3: you think would hit them first?
- 14:25Speaker 1: Oh?
- 14:25Speaker 4: Well, usually what happens is, uh, if you're a newbie,
- 14:30Speaker 4: you see like the marshpit, and if you've never encountered
- 14:33Speaker 4: a mashpit before, it's it's very it's very jarring, you know,
- 14:37Speaker 4: for for people who have just gone to like the
- 14:39Speaker 4: conventional kind of concert, you know what I mean. Uh,
- 14:44Speaker 4: so that I feel like that's the first thing that
- 14:46Speaker 4: jumps out of you.
- 14:47Speaker 1: But then uh, it's it's also a volume thing.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Like it you know, you want to have it so
- 14:52Speaker 4: loud that it becomes a physical act as opposed to
- 14:56Speaker 4: just like tickling your ear drums a little bit like
- 14:59Speaker 4: you want to you want to feel it, like like
- 15:02Speaker 4: kick you in the chest a little bit, you know.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely get like a full body experience.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I think like.
- 15:09Speaker 4: When I when I saw ice Cube, I was so
- 15:13Speaker 4: close to the stage and that the subwhipers were so
- 15:16Speaker 4: crazy that my my eyeballs were shaking seven minutes after
- 15:19Speaker 4: show was over, Like you know, I couldn't I couldn't
- 15:22Speaker 4: even see straight. Yes, yes, but that's but that's what
- 15:25Speaker 4: you want, you know what I mean when you see
- 15:27Speaker 4: that kind of thing.
- 15:28Speaker 3: That's what makes it sometimes as well, is that experience.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I went to a festival last year and I saw
- 15:34Speaker 3: I don't know if you know them, but Electric coll
- 15:36Speaker 3: Boy and I was right up the front and the
- 15:39Speaker 3: pyro was just hitting me in the face.
- 15:41Speaker 2: But I was enjoying. It was the best time ever.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And after all these years, what still drives you to
- 15:49Speaker 3: create music that's this intense and unrelenting.
- 15:54Speaker 1: That's just all we've ever aspired to do.
- 15:57Speaker 4: You know. We never wanted to be a popular band.
- 16:01Speaker 4: We just wanted to be a crazy band. And we
- 16:05Speaker 4: all like all kinds of different music, but like, uh,
- 16:09Speaker 4: I think there's just a certain itch that grindcore scratches
- 16:13Speaker 4: that nothing else can scratch, you know.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Would there be any surprises to the type of stuff
- 16:21Speaker 3: or genre as you listen to that fans may not
- 16:24Speaker 3: know about.
- 16:24Speaker 2: That would be a surprise.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. I mean, I'm not really a
- 16:30Speaker 1: big dance music guy.
- 16:32Speaker 4: But but other than that, I mean I love reggae
- 16:34Speaker 4: and country and you know, classical music, jazz. Yeah, you know,
- 16:42Speaker 4: I kind of dabbled.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I kind of dabble in a little bit of everything,
- 16:45Speaker 1: you know.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's awesome.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And I can imagine from the name of your band,
- 16:51Speaker 3: how you guys perform, and your lyrics and everything. You
- 16:56Speaker 3: must have received something a little bit stranger odd from
- 16:59Speaker 3: a fan. Is there something that sticks out that you've
- 17:01Speaker 3: been given by a fan?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Oh?
- 17:05Speaker 4: You know, yeah, people bring me like some cool stuff,
- 17:09Speaker 4: like little pieces of jewelry they make, or or pieces
- 17:13Speaker 4: of art.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I think.
- 17:16Speaker 4: You know, one thing that was really weird one time
- 17:21Speaker 4: was was this guy wanted me to write some of
- 17:24Speaker 4: my lyrics on his arm and then he was gonna
- 17:26Speaker 4: go get them tattooed, like the next day. And I
- 17:31Speaker 4: was like, really fucked up. And I tried to plead
- 17:35Speaker 4: with the guy. I was like, don't make me right
- 17:37Speaker 4: on your arm, and and he he wouldn't take note
- 17:41Speaker 4: for an answer. And then you know, the next day
- 17:43Speaker 4: he showed you, you know, he sent us a picture
- 17:45Speaker 4: of my horrible handwriting like all over his forearm, you know.
- 17:50Speaker 1: So uh, you know, yeah, we got some wacky fans,
- 17:54Speaker 1: you know.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but so far, like no animal romance or
- 18:00Speaker 2: anything like that.
- 18:02Speaker 4: No, I mean, if we were a little more like
- 18:06Speaker 4: witchcrafty maybe people would do that, but you know, uh,
- 18:11Speaker 4: I don't know. I think, uh, you know, people people
- 18:15Speaker 4: have written me letters or or shown me like uh
- 18:18Speaker 4: you know, poems that they've written, or you know, just
- 18:22Speaker 4: to just that we can inspire anything and anybody is
- 18:25Speaker 4: is very humbling for us.
- 18:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's lovely.
- 18:29Speaker 3: How does the original vision of Pig Destroyer compare to
- 18:32Speaker 3: what the band has become today?
- 18:34Speaker 2: And has anything surprised you along the way?
- 18:39Speaker 4: I mean, I mean it's just strange that, like the
- 18:42Speaker 4: the lineup.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Of people and just that you know, the people that
- 18:46Speaker 1: have come and gone or that.
- 18:47Speaker 4: We've lost, you know, and just trying to like, uh
- 18:54Speaker 4: stay true to the to the vision that that me
- 18:56Speaker 4: and Scott had when we when we started the band,
- 18:59Speaker 4: and just you know, uh, I think because we do
- 19:03Speaker 4: it for you know, we just want to make music
- 19:05Speaker 4: for ourselves and and and the fans, and uh we
- 19:08Speaker 4: just try to keep it simple in that respect.
- 19:10Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Uh.
- 19:11Speaker 4: If you make it more complicated than that, then then
- 19:14Speaker 4: I don't I think you're doing yourself a disservice, you know.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely was it hot as well after the passing
- 19:22Speaker 3: to decide to keep going with Peat Destroyer or was
- 19:26Speaker 3: that something that was always just meant to happen.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Well, no, because we we had already continued because Blake,
- 19:33Speaker 4: you know, Blake left the band.
- 19:35Speaker 1: And uh, you know we did.
- 19:37Speaker 4: We didn't want him to leave the band, but uh
- 19:40Speaker 4: but it was just, you know, something that happened, and.
- 19:44Speaker 1: You know, and then a year later, you know, he
- 19:47Speaker 1: passes away, and uh.
- 19:50Speaker 4: But but it's kind of a I considered it a
- 19:52Speaker 4: lifetime appointment. You know, he was always going to be
- 19:55Speaker 4: part of the band, in my in.
- 19:57Speaker 1: My heart, you know what I mean.
- 19:58Speaker 4: So we're all just we're we're all close like brothers,
- 20:03Speaker 4: and you know we fight sometimes, but.
- 20:06Speaker 1: You know, I take a bullet for any of them.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so lovely, Well, Jaya, We're so excited to see
- 20:15Speaker 2: you guys here so soon. Thank you so much for
- 20:18Speaker 2: your time today.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Of course, it's my pleasure.
