- 0:08Speaker 1: And good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:11Speaker 1: The sun is shining. It's a bright day today and
- 0:14Speaker 1: that means it's car talk. And by golly, we have
- 0:18Speaker 1: Jason in today. And Jason, you brought friends.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Very good morning, Tom. I brought my new friend Todd Edwards.
- 0:24Speaker 2: He is going to talk to us a little bit
- 0:27Speaker 2: about you're upping your bowling score and you're very helping
- 0:32Speaker 2: some uh big brothers and big sisters and their they're
- 0:37Speaker 2: littles at the same time.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Well that is amazing. Well, welcome back. I think you
- 0:41Speaker 1: know their way around here.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yep, yep, yep.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Got to be back.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Well, Tom, it's a it's a great day to be
- 0:49Speaker 2: in Barblesville. As Brad would say, he's at a Toyota
- 0:53Speaker 2: meeting this morning learning about all of the new products
- 0:57Speaker 2: at Toyota has coming down the pike. Uh, we're really
- 1:00Speaker 2: excited about the new stuff. But I should probably talk
- 1:04Speaker 2: a little bit about what's going on right now. We
- 1:08Speaker 2: have some great deals at Dungeons Toyota. For instance, right
- 1:12Speaker 2: now for qualified buyers, you can get two point nine
- 1:17Speaker 2: percent interest, two point nine percent financing for on a
- 1:25Speaker 2: Toyota Tacoma and We've got some great lease deals right now,
- 1:31Speaker 2: a new twenty five RAV four for qualified buyers three
- 1:38Speaker 2: thirty nine a month to lease this RAV four, Tom,
- 1:42Speaker 2: And I got to tell you my my wife's been
- 1:46Speaker 2: looking at those RAB fours and I think if anybody
- 1:49Speaker 2: at Dungeons Toyota is listening, your marketing guy is going
- 1:54Speaker 2: to come in soon for a test drive.
- 1:56Speaker 3: So be ready.
- 1:59Speaker 2: We've all also got a really super deal on Toyota
- 2:04Speaker 2: Tacoma's in terms of leases right now. You can lease
- 2:08Speaker 2: a twenty four Toyota Tacoma the SR five to sixty
- 2:15Speaker 2: nine a month. Tom. That's it, that's it. Wow, giving
- 2:19Speaker 2: them away. Toyota is instead of subventing interest rates, really
- 2:25Speaker 2: leaning into their lease program. And it's a great idea.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'm telling you, Tom, Leasing for about half of the
- 2:35Speaker 2: people that I meet is really a better fit than
- 2:39Speaker 2: financing the car.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And for the longest time, people would just kind of say,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I don't know about that, and they wouldn't investigate any further.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Then once they started looking into it and they realized
- 2:49Speaker 1: how flexible it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Is, Oh, it's such a good idea. You build equity
- 2:53Speaker 2: in the vehicle if you want to keep it after
- 2:55Speaker 2: the lease term. You've got equity if you if you're
- 3:00Speaker 2: the type of guy who wants a new car every three,
- 3:04Speaker 2: four or five years, leasing leasing for sure. And one
- 3:10Speaker 2: of the best leases we have out there, and this
- 3:12Speaker 2: is this is just a fantastic vehicle. The twenty twenty
- 3:17Speaker 2: five Toyota Corolla. You can lease for as little as
- 3:21Speaker 2: two hundred and nineteen dollars a month. Tom I, I'm
- 3:27Speaker 2: telling you, that's.
- 3:28Speaker 1: That's about Back in the eighties, that was a car payment.
- 3:31Speaker 2: That's that's about as an inexpensive ride as you get.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Of course, it comes with the full Toyota Carr maintenance.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And it's these Corollas, both the hybrids and the full
- 3:48Speaker 2: gas powered ones are so fuel efficient, so comfortable and frankly,
- 3:54Speaker 2: you know, they're the size of what a camera used
- 3:56Speaker 2: to be ten fifteen years ago. Great ride, great on
- 4:01Speaker 2: the highway, great around town. To nineteen a month a
- 4:05Speaker 2: Dungeons Toyota. If you're looking for a new ride, give
- 4:09Speaker 2: us a call at nine eight three three three nine hundred,
- 4:13Speaker 2: and our non commissioned salespeople we'll be happy to tell
- 4:18Speaker 2: you a ball about all of the different lease options,
- 4:21Speaker 2: financing options, and all of the great cars we have
- 4:24Speaker 2: on the lot and coming in and maybe they'll talk
- 4:28Speaker 2: to you a little bit about bowling. So that's really
- 4:31Speaker 2: what I wanted to get to. So what have we
- 4:33Speaker 2: got coming up, Todd?
- 4:35Speaker 4: Well, the first thing we got coming up this Saturday,
- 4:37Speaker 4: we are doing a launch party were we're just celebrating
- 4:40Speaker 4: what we're doing. It'll be at the Cooper and Meal
- 4:43Speaker 4: from six to seven. Just come in check it out.
- 4:46Speaker 4: We're we're giving out some more information about what we
- 4:49Speaker 4: do at at Big Brothers Big Sisters. We're gonna show
- 4:51Speaker 4: some new awards. So in the past, I think we've
- 4:53Speaker 4: done two. We're gonna do five, and three of those
- 4:56Speaker 4: were keeping a secret. We're only gonna unveil those at
- 4:59Speaker 4: the launch party. Also, if you come, you sign up
- 5:02Speaker 4: for a team, you make a tiny donation to to
- 5:04Speaker 4: your to your page, and you're gonna be entered for
- 5:06Speaker 4: one hundred dollars gift card.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Nice. I tell you what, this is a great way
- 5:10Speaker 1: to get things off the ground.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I love that idea. So, uh, tell me a little
- 5:15Speaker 2: bit about you know, the mission. I think a lot
- 5:18Speaker 2: of people are familiar with Boys and Girls Club, but uh,
- 5:21Speaker 2: I mean I'm Big Brothers, Big sisters. Yeah. Yeah, Tom,
- 5:25Speaker 2: I have a stroke every time I see you big
- 5:27Speaker 2: brothers and big sisters. Tell me what is the mission?
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so the mission really it comes down to one
- 5:34Speaker 4: to one mentoring.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Uh.
- 5:35Speaker 4: The biggest thing for kids is just you know, having
- 5:38Speaker 4: that consistent person in their life kind of really show
- 5:42Speaker 4: them the ropes. A lot of the kids that we
- 5:44Speaker 4: have come from a from a single, single parent household,
- 5:47Speaker 4: and so they don't have either that dad or that
- 5:49Speaker 4: mom figure.
- 5:49Speaker 3: So that's what we do.
- 5:50Speaker 4: We introduce that to that other side of the of
- 5:52Speaker 4: the family and just kind of hang out with them
- 5:54Speaker 4: and show them what's it like to go buy a
- 5:57Speaker 4: car or something like that.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So yeah, it's it's pretty awesome.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Different different experiences that an adult can can pass on
- 6:03Speaker 2: to a child. Absolutely, yeah, that is awesome. So how
- 6:07Speaker 2: many how many kids do you have in the program
- 6:10Speaker 2: here in Brtlesille?
- 6:11Speaker 3: Last year we served seventy seventy eight.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Kids, So yeah, it is we are growing, We are
- 6:18Speaker 4: fast growing, So it is it's incredible. We currently have
- 6:22Speaker 4: about thirty five waiting littles right now, waiting on that
- 6:26Speaker 4: perfect big to kind of come in and say, hey,
- 6:29Speaker 4: I'm willing to hang out with the kid for a
- 6:31Speaker 4: couple hours a month.
- 6:32Speaker 2: What what age groups are these kids?
- 6:35Speaker 4: They started at six and then they go all the
- 6:38Speaker 4: way through either senior or eighteen, whichever is longer.
- 6:41Speaker 2: That is, And I assume that you have some bigs
- 6:46Speaker 2: who've probably been with their littles for quite a long time.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Oh yeah, we have a lot of stories of you know,
- 6:53Speaker 4: seven years, you know they've been matched.
- 6:55Speaker 3: We have a ton of stories of just.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Even when they get married and they're big that grew
- 6:59Speaker 4: up with them and show them how to do things,
- 7:01Speaker 4: is at their wedding. So yeah, we have so many
- 7:04Speaker 4: incredible stories just like that.
- 7:06Speaker 2: That is just an amazing, amazing support for anybody. So
- 7:14Speaker 2: how if somebody is interested in becoming a BIG I mean,
- 7:18Speaker 2: is it a challenging process?
- 7:20Speaker 3: Nope.
- 7:21Speaker 4: First thing, probably the best way just to go online
- 7:23Speaker 4: Big Oklahoma dot org and you can start seeing what
- 7:26Speaker 4: it's all about. The process is pretty simple. We'll reach
- 7:30Speaker 4: out to you if you're interested. There is an interview
- 7:32Speaker 4: process because we want to get to know you. We
- 7:34Speaker 4: don't want to match it with somebody that's not going
- 7:36Speaker 4: to be a great match. We interview all the littles
- 7:39Speaker 4: and then we find out you know who's going to
- 7:41Speaker 4: be the best match. What are your common interests or likes,
- 7:44Speaker 4: things like that, and then we'll let you introduce you
- 7:47Speaker 4: to that little that we think would be a great match.
- 7:49Speaker 4: And if everybody agrees this is a good fit, we'll
- 7:51Speaker 4: get you up and running.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Oh that is great. Is there any any training or
- 7:55Speaker 2: a touch base during the process. Yep.
- 7:57Speaker 4: So during that whole interview, we do tons of training
- 8:00Speaker 4: and you'll get to learn lots of information. But we
- 8:02Speaker 4: also have a specific person. His name is Daniel, great guy.
- 8:05Speaker 4: He's a program specialist. His whole job is to help
- 8:09Speaker 4: support bigs and littles throughout this process. So, yeah, you
- 8:12Speaker 4: get one of those questions from your little man, I
- 8:14Speaker 4: don't really know how to answer that, but stumper, Yeah,
- 8:16Speaker 4: we have a guy trained in Hey, here's how you
- 8:19Speaker 4: address that, here's how you approach that.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Well, a lot of parents could probably use him.
- 8:22Speaker 3: It's that's true.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yep, that is really good dial Daniel. So if you've
- 8:30Speaker 2: got so many eight kids in the program, how many
- 8:32Speaker 2: how many bigs? Is it one to one? Yeah?
- 8:34Speaker 4: So we we so you can either do one to one,
- 8:36Speaker 4: but we also have couples entering. So if you got
- 8:38Speaker 4: a husband and a wife, and and you were.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Like, maybe, yeah, great, yeah, the great.
- 8:43Speaker 4: The couples is awesome because sometimes it's you know, I
- 8:45Speaker 4: don't want to spend a ton of time without my spouse. Great,
- 8:48Speaker 4: bring them along, take them together and go see a
- 8:50Speaker 4: movie or just hang out, invite him over and have dinner.
- 8:53Speaker 4: That's some of the best stories are just those times.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I love that. And you know, from from my perspect active,
- 9:00Speaker 2: you know a guy who's got a little gray in
- 9:01Speaker 2: his beard but still can get up and go. Uh
- 9:05Speaker 2: you know, were there any age restrictions on on bigs?
- 9:08Speaker 4: Nope, that's what we see. A lot of empty nesters.
- 9:11Speaker 4: We see a lot of those coming in. Hey, nout
- 9:13Speaker 4: a lot of that are newly married, you know, couples
- 9:16Speaker 4: or people that aren't married yet they don't have kids
- 9:17Speaker 4: an arder kid.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yep, it's a great way to practice.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I I love that I can make a lifelong friend
- 9:24Speaker 1: with these youngsters too.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Absolutely. Yes.
- 9:27Speaker 2: So do you get a lot of a lot of
- 9:29Speaker 2: your littles who uh who return? Are there any who
- 9:33Speaker 2: have come back as bigs?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Yeah, we we have an alumni group also, so that's
- 9:39Speaker 4: pretty awesome.
- 9:40Speaker 3: But yeah, we do see.
- 9:41Speaker 4: A lot of man, I was a little growing up
- 9:43Speaker 4: and it made such an impact and I'm ready to
- 9:45Speaker 4: get back.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I could see exactly how that that would happen. So
- 9:51Speaker 2: if somebody wants to get involved as a as a
- 9:54Speaker 2: big or know somebody who would be a little what's
- 9:56Speaker 2: what's the best what's the best route?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Same thing?
- 9:59Speaker 4: Checking out our our our website is the fastest way,
- 10:02Speaker 4: or just coming into our office. You can come see us,
- 10:05Speaker 4: give us a call that those are kind of the
- 10:08Speaker 4: three fastest ways. If you want to, just email me
- 10:11Speaker 4: Todd dot Edwards at bbbsok dot org.
- 10:15Speaker 2: That is great. So let's talk a little bit about bowling.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You've got this event coming up. You guys do it
- 10:23Speaker 2: every year. How many years has this been?
- 10:27Speaker 3: Oh gosh, it's been going on for a.
- 10:30Speaker 2: While, as long as I remember.
- 10:32Speaker 4: So I do have one of the loftiest goals we've
- 10:36Speaker 4: ever had. Last year, I think we had ninety six teams.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I want to hit that hundred. I mean it was
- 10:42Speaker 4: so close. So yeah, I'm really I'm really hoping the
- 10:45Speaker 4: community comes together and we see that that hundred teams.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I just think it would be a great milestone.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Okay, I've got to I've got to make an admission. Okay.
- 10:55Speaker 2: A couple of years ago, my wife some of her
- 10:58Speaker 2: colleagues started to get the other about once a quarter
- 11:01Speaker 2: and we would go bowling. And I hadn't bowled since
- 11:06Speaker 2: I was a kid, and I fell in love with it.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I got my own shoes, Mary and I got matching shirts.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I can bowl. So I am going to implore my
- 11:19Speaker 2: colleagues at Dungeons Toyota UH to help me form a
- 11:24Speaker 2: team UH to participate this year.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Rollers there we go.
- 11:29Speaker 2: That would be Brad's Brad's Bowlers.
- 11:35Speaker 4: And you don't have to be great at bowling either,
- 11:36Speaker 4: you know, because it's really at the end of the day,
- 11:38Speaker 4: it's about the kids. It's about raising the funds to
- 11:40Speaker 4: to make those matches happen well.
- 11:41Speaker 2: And that's that's the thing about bowling is you don't
- 11:44Speaker 2: have to be good at it. It's it's just a fun,
- 11:46Speaker 2: fun game. So if you want to, if you want
- 11:51Speaker 2: to form a team, how many how many people do
- 11:53Speaker 2: you put together?
- 11:54Speaker 4: So there's six people that are that are on a team.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So that's kind of what we're looking for. And it's
- 12:00Speaker 4: a pierod of peer fundraiser. So you sign up you'll
- 12:02Speaker 4: get your own page, your own fundraising page, and you
- 12:05Speaker 4: can just reach out to friends, family and say, hey,
- 12:06Speaker 4: will you help me support the kids in the community
- 12:08Speaker 4: of Bartlesville.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Oh that is pretty easy. But what what's what? What
- 12:13Speaker 2: is the average bowler? How much do they weigh or raise?
- 12:18Speaker 3: One hundred and fifty bucks is about the average.
- 12:20Speaker 2: So yeah, I could shake a couple of my friends
- 12:23Speaker 2: upside down for one hundred and fifty dollars. Oh yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 2: that's easy. So six six person teams? Yep. When when
- 12:32Speaker 2: do we sign up?
- 12:34Speaker 3: You can sign up right now.
- 12:35Speaker 4: In fact, if you if you sign up before January eighteenth,
- 12:39Speaker 4: we're gonna get you signed up for a prize one
- 12:41Speaker 4: hundred dollars gift card. We're gonna we're gonna have that
- 12:44Speaker 4: at the bull for Kid's Sake launch party.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That is great. And then when are we bowling?
- 12:50Speaker 3: So we have lots of dates.
- 12:51Speaker 4: The first date is February twenty eighth, but then we're
- 12:54Speaker 4: also gonna bowl on March sixth and March seventh.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Oh, so you've you've got a couple options pickup games.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Yep, Well, you can't fit everybody in there.
- 13:04Speaker 3: We're going to do one hundred that's exactly, that's yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Do we are we using some of the Phillips
- 13:08Speaker 1: lanes this year?
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yep.
- 13:09Speaker 4: So we also have the Phillips lanes you can you
- 13:12Speaker 4: can get those on March sixth and March thirteenth.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Okay, oh that's so. That's great. My brother in law
- 13:18Speaker 2: of Att Phillips, he could he could bowl on his
- 13:21Speaker 2: lunch hour.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yep. There you know a lot of them do. Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 2: That's so. Where do I go again? What's what is
- 13:29Speaker 2: the website to sign off?
- 13:31Speaker 4: So you can go to our Facebook page. That's a
- 13:33Speaker 4: really another easy easy way. We have all of the
- 13:36Speaker 4: links there. So yeah, if you look up Bartlesville, Big Brothers,
- 13:39Speaker 4: Big Sisters and then check out one of our links
- 13:42Speaker 4: to the.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Bowl sounds good.
- 13:44Speaker 3: It'll take it there, It'll take it right to it. Yeah.
- 13:46Speaker 2: So overall, how much how much do you generally bring in.
- 13:51Speaker 4: On these our So this is our biggest fundraiser of
- 13:55Speaker 4: the year.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 13:57Speaker 3: The goal is one hundred and fifty five thousand.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Wow. And this being your biggest fundraiser of the year,
- 14:05Speaker 2: people really should get behind this. Do you do you
- 14:10Speaker 2: do you get revenue from any other sources? Yep?
- 14:15Speaker 4: We have another event. It'll come in August. It's our
- 14:18Speaker 4: big event Gala. So that's that's the other big one
- 14:20Speaker 4: that we come up with.
- 14:23Speaker 3: The Big Event.
- 14:24Speaker 1: That's what it is, and it takes on and it's
- 14:27Speaker 1: not the same thing twice. It takes on different you know,
- 14:29Speaker 1: morphs into a lot of different things.
- 14:31Speaker 4: That's right, We're we're talking right now. Yeah, what's the
- 14:33Speaker 4: theme going to be this year? It's got to be big,
- 14:35Speaker 4: but it's got to be big.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yeah, right now.
- 14:38Speaker 4: I think the top runner is a Great Gatsby type theme.
- 14:42Speaker 3: So it's kind of the Frowner.
- 14:43Speaker 4: But but there's a lot of other ideas and we
- 14:45Speaker 4: haven't said anything in stone. So if anybody has an idea,
- 14:48Speaker 4: I would love to hear it. You can reach out
- 14:49Speaker 4: to us on on Facebook.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Would be great.
- 14:51Speaker 2: That is awesome. So again Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
- 14:55Speaker 2: You can get involved as as a big you can
- 14:59Speaker 2: get involved as a bowler, or you can get involved
- 15:02Speaker 2: as a big bowler and.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Ulity above.
- 15:06Speaker 2: One of the best ways to plug in is to
- 15:08Speaker 2: go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bartlesville Facebook. What's
- 15:15Speaker 2: a what's a good number for you? Todd?
- 15:17Speaker 4: You can reach us at nine one eight two one, three,
- 15:21Speaker 4: four five two four.
- 15:23Speaker 2: That is I'm telling Tom bowling bowling, it's it should
- 15:29Speaker 2: be America's sport because.
- 15:33Speaker 1: It's a lot of fun.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, is it a sporter a game?
- 15:37Speaker 1: It depends on who you ask and when you ask him,
- 15:39Speaker 1: because you know, if you're doing it as a family,
- 15:42Speaker 1: it's a game. And if you're you know, maybe with
- 15:48Speaker 1: some folks who've been around a little bit, it's.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Some of those serious people. I think, if you've got
- 15:54Speaker 2: a beer, it's a game, if you if you're not,
- 15:58Speaker 2: if you don't have a beer, it's if you've just
- 15:59Speaker 2: got the nachos. Is it still a sport?
- 16:02Speaker 1: That's that's a fine line. And you know that's kind
- 16:05Speaker 1: of like one where you have to call the press
- 16:06Speaker 1: box and get get the call from above.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Yeah, these are the these are the things that I
- 16:12Speaker 2: really love about pulling the questions.
- 16:15Speaker 1: But but you see, you've got the matching shirts. So
- 16:18Speaker 1: you know, you might start might be looking like we.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Really look started. We're not that good, but you'll look good.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But you look you know, that's half the day, that's
- 16:27Speaker 2: half the bat awesome. So maybe we could get some
- 16:30Speaker 2: Dungeons Toyota shirts, put together some Dungeons, Toyota bowling shirts.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Get a team together and.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I can, I can. I'll release one of our secret awards. Okay,
- 16:44Speaker 4: we haven't told anybody else.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I know the don't don't pass this around people.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Yeah, top secret best dressed team. So we're talking about it.
