- 0:11Speaker 1: It's well tonight, I've got to give you a warning
- 0:17Speaker 1: that some of the vision you're about to see may
- 0:19Speaker 1: cause shock and distress, and I hope it does. Actually
- 0:23Speaker 1: it's a warning because Australia has just had its October seventh,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the slaughter of innocent Jews. Fifteen people murdered, forty two
- 0:31Speaker 1: injured by too Muslim gunman, a father and a son
- 0:34Speaker 1: shooting a Jew celebrating Holy Hannekah at Bundai Beach, forcing
- 0:39Speaker 1: parents and their children to hide behind scraps of cover
- 0:42Speaker 1: as they were picked off, as if this was a
- 0:44Speaker 1: war zone in Australia, these Jew haters shooting at Jews
- 0:50Speaker 1: for some ten minutes until police finally killed one wounded
- 0:52Speaker 1: the other. But not before these evil men had murdered
- 0:55Speaker 1: two rabbis and even a ten year old girl without
- 1:00Speaker 1: shame or pity, because you know, they were just Jews.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And now today, on this day of grief and.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Fear and.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Terrible, terrible shame for our country, let me tell you
- 1:14Speaker 1: what I don't want to hear. I don't want to
- 1:17Speaker 1: hear politicians just sending their thoughts and prayers. I especially
- 1:22Speaker 1: don't want to hear our Prime Minister and others say, look,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm shocked. I could never have imagined this terrorism could
- 1:28Speaker 1: happen here in Australia, because I say to them, are
- 1:33Speaker 1: you blind?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Are you deaf?
- 1:38Speaker 1: How could you possibly not see that this day would come?
- 1:41Speaker 1: And worse, how could you've added petrol to this bonfire
- 1:45Speaker 1: of due hatred that has now changed our country forever?
- 1:50Speaker 1: And that was a question put to the Prime Minister
- 1:53Speaker 1: is first and is deeply unimpressive press conference last night
- 1:57Speaker 1: just after the shooting, and Anthony Albinezi had no answer.
- 2:01Speaker 3: In September, your government recognized a Palestinian state. Your ministers
- 2:06Speaker 3: have attacked the Israeli government. Second ministers refused to visit
- 2:09Speaker 3: the sites of the October seven massacres, and you created
- 2:13Speaker 3: a special Islamophobia envoy alongside an anti Semitism envoy. Have
- 2:19Speaker 3: you taken the threat of anti Semitism seriously? And can
- 2:23Speaker 3: you guarantee the safety of Jewish Australians.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Yes, we have taken it seriously, and we've continued to act.
- 2:30Speaker 4: We've continued to work with Jewish community leaders.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The Jewish leaders here and the furious Prime Minister of Israel,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Benjamin Etne. They've also been holding the Prime Minister Responsible
- 2:43Speaker 1: net Ye, who said he warned Albanizi in writing last
- 2:46Speaker 1: August when Albanzi had made its disastrous decision to recognize
- 2:51Speaker 1: the state of Palestine. Nen, you warned in that this
- 2:55Speaker 1: was rewarding the slaughter of twelve hundred Jews by Hamas
- 2:57Speaker 1: Terrists two years ago and would encourage more killings.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I wrote, your call for a Palestinian state pures full
- 3:06Speaker 2: fuel on the antisemitic fire it rewards from Asterism, It
- 3:11Speaker 2: emboldens those who menace Australian Jews and encourages the Jew
- 3:16Speaker 2: hatred now stalk in your streets. You did nothing, and
- 3:20Speaker 2: the result is the horrific attacks on Jews we saw today.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And to that charge Alberizi today had another weak reply.
- 3:29Speaker 4: This is a moment for national unity, This is a
- 3:32Speaker 4: moment for Australians to come together. That's precisely what we will.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Be doing now. Not like the hundreds of readers who
- 3:40Speaker 1: posted comments of our newspaper column today who blamed Alberzi
- 3:44Speaker 1: personally for yesterday's deaths. You know, I got to ask it.
- 3:49Speaker 4: With a bit of.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Word from him, a tougher press release really have stopped
- 3:55Speaker 1: these gunmen who have Pakistani background, the father he is
- 3:59Speaker 1: since ninety nine on a student visa originally, and his
- 4:03Speaker 1: son actually born here getting into his Islamic religious studies.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Again right here, could Albanese really have stopped them? And
- 4:13Speaker 1: yet I cannot deny that Albanese made Jews feel abandoned,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and he made this attack and future ones actually more likely.
- 4:23Speaker 1: He acted recklessly when all the evidence should have screamed
- 4:27Speaker 1: at him, as it has screamed at me for decades,
- 4:31Speaker 1: that this Jew hatred was growing and growing deadly. Did
- 4:35Speaker 1: Albanese not only fail to confront it, he fed that
- 4:39Speaker 1: hatred instead. Now I want to bake this up into
- 4:42Speaker 1: two parts. First the warning signs that this government ignored,
- 4:46Speaker 1: and then I'll go through how the government instead made
- 4:49Speaker 1: this horror more likely. Now we shouldn't actually be surprised
- 4:54Speaker 1: at this massacre, said I happened because many Jews are
- 4:56Speaker 1: feared this for years, as if I and you consider
- 5:00Speaker 1: for decades, even this country's leaders persisted in bringing in
- 5:05Speaker 1: people from war torn, backward tribal countries with very different
- 5:10Speaker 1: values when the odds were, of course that they would
- 5:14Speaker 1: struggle to fit in. And generation of leaders since never learned,
- 5:22Speaker 1: not even when the terrorism attacks started attacks by Muslims,
- 5:27Speaker 1: we'd actually accept it as refugees, like Man Monis, an
- 5:31Speaker 1: Iranian refugee, stated the deadly Lint Cafe siege in twenty
- 5:35Speaker 1: fourteen of Faha Jabba, an Iranian refugee killed police. Account
- 5:41Speaker 1: at Kurtis Cheng, or the Somali born refugee who murdered
- 5:45Speaker 1: a worker in Melbourne shot three police and said this
- 5:47Speaker 1: is for is the Islamic state, this is for al Qa'eda.
- 5:52Speaker 1: And then the Somali refugees stabbed to death of Melbourne
- 5:54Speaker 1: rest return in the Jaharta's attack. Were all the terror
- 6:01Speaker 1: plots that, thank god never happened that Asia and police
- 6:04Speaker 1: managed to disrupt, and all the hate preachers praising jihad,
- 6:10Speaker 1: preaching Jew hatred. And I say it again, given all that,
- 6:14Speaker 1: an attack like the one yesterday began to seem inevitable,
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yet the Albanesi government refused to head the warnings. It
- 6:24Speaker 1: even gave tourism visus to three thousand Palestinians from Gaza
- 6:28Speaker 1: territory controlled by Hamas Islamist terrorists, and then even had
- 6:34Speaker 1: them welcomed at the airport by Home Affairs mister Tony Burke.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It also helped bring back to Australia the Islamic state brides,
- 6:43Speaker 1: and it panded so badly to the Muslim vote that
- 6:47Speaker 1: had treated Israel as an enemy of war criminals, further
- 6:52Speaker 1: feeding that insane jee hatred and hysteria. I don't have
- 6:59Speaker 1: a time to list all the oven easy government sins
- 7:03Speaker 1: in this area. You heard that journalist mention a few
- 7:06Speaker 1: of them. I'll add a few more. How about votings
- 7:08Speaker 1: Israel in the United Nations, or recognizing that palestinean state
- 7:12Speaker 1: to the delight of Hamas, or like failing to condemn
- 7:17Speaker 1: notorious hate preachers, refusing to rule out arresting Israel's Prime
- 7:21Speaker 1: minister for war crimes, and relentlessly criticizing Israel every time
- 7:26Speaker 1: it dared to defend itself, And all this while our
- 7:31Speaker 1: streets burned with Jew hatred, burned from just two days
- 7:36Speaker 1: after the mass attack on the Jews which started the
- 7:39Speaker 1: war in Gaza, when anti Israel protesters disrupted a commemoration
- 7:45Speaker 1: for the Israeli dead, a commemoration of the Sydney Opera House,
- 7:49Speaker 1: demanding and said to know where the Jews were, and
- 8:07Speaker 1: the Jew hatred really went off the scale. In those
- 8:09Speaker 1: weekly anti Israel protests. I mean, men in Melbourne were
- 8:12Speaker 1: even carrying the yellow flag of the Hesbela terrorist group
- 8:15Speaker 1: and a portrait of the Hesbela leader, and some chanted
- 8:18Speaker 1: this war cray in Arabic, a warning that the armies
- 8:21Speaker 1: of Mohammad were coming for the Jews. And fifteen people
- 8:34Speaker 1: slaughtered at Hannuka Festival, a festival that was openly advertised.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Where are the Jews? They are here, come and get them.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And then there are the warnings that were missed. I mean,
- 8:49Speaker 1: how did the older one of those two killers get
- 8:51Speaker 1: permissioned for not one gun, one long arm, but six six?
- 8:56Speaker 1: And why didn't police or Asio link that astonishing level
- 9:01Speaker 1: of gun ownership to the son who'd attended a troubled
- 9:04Speaker 1: school with many Muslim students and in twenty nineteen had
- 9:09Speaker 1: hung out with very worrying characters as I knew this,
- 9:13Speaker 1: although just what kind of characters they were? The Prime
- 9:15Speaker 1: Minister and Home Affairs Minister today refused to say.
- 9:20Speaker 5: That's a question with respect for the Asia Director General,
- 9:26Speaker 5: but that it was people he was associated with rather
- 9:30Speaker 5: than things that he himself had done.
- 9:33Speaker 6: It's the exact same answer that the Prime Minister just
- 9:35Speaker 6: gave that the assessment of Asio was with respect to
- 9:39Speaker 6: his associations, rather than at that point they're big a
- 9:42Speaker 6: personal motivation from him. No, no, no, you're making a whole
- 9:48Speaker 6: lot of extra assumptions. We've given you the information and
- 9:52Speaker 6: that's what we've given you all.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Been so reckless, tragic. And now for the premise to say, well,
- 9:58Speaker 1: we're going to stamp out due hatred seriously is not
- 10:00Speaker 1: going to happen, and we're going to muzzle every hate preacher.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Now cut out the pages in the Islamic holy texts
- 10:06Speaker 1: that urge the killing of Jews. Is all too late.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I can't see anything doing much good in fact without
- 10:11Speaker 1: a complete revolution. Far more than that, I mean, how
- 10:14Speaker 1: about slashing immigration from hard to assimilate countries and making
- 10:18Speaker 1: Australia proud again, something that newcomers would love to pledge
- 10:21Speaker 1: allegiance to become a one flag nation again, honor our
- 10:27Speaker 1: past not treated as shameful. Do you think Albanies is
- 10:30Speaker 1: going to agree to all that? How about stripping taxpayer
- 10:32Speaker 1: funding of those who don't just hate Jews but hate
- 10:35Speaker 1: this country. And I tell you even all that will
- 10:38Speaker 1: not now be enough. But we've got to try, because
- 10:42Speaker 1: this attack well, you can see it's already shattered us.
- 10:46Speaker 1: What will another do to our country? I mean, what
- 10:54Speaker 1: a day of horror and, like I say, of shame
- 10:58Speaker 1: and of grief. So many people turned up to Bondeau today,
- 11:02Speaker 1: including our boss here Lochlan Murdoch and his wife Sarah,
- 11:04Speaker 1: to lay flowers. But to me it was incredible to
- 11:09Speaker 1: see that the mourners included the Greens, who flirted with
- 11:12Speaker 1: the jew haters, who refused even to support a motion
- 11:15Speaker 1: condemning the Hamas terrorists slaughtered Jews in Israel. Now they're
- 11:19Speaker 1: at Bondou because, oh well, shooting Jews in Australia. That
- 11:23Speaker 1: is apparently different. Even Green Senator Mirroring Ferruki was there today,
- 11:28Speaker 1: although for once not wearing the kefia she wears in Parliament.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Ferruki the extremists who couldn't even condemn hermas.
- 11:38Speaker 7: We have that.
- 11:40Speaker 8: The Palestinians need to decide where they want to go.
- 11:43Speaker 8: Sure you're able to say where you'd like to see
- 11:45Speaker 8: them gone, and.
- 11:47Speaker 5: It's not up to me to say who should be
- 11:49Speaker 5: gone or not.
- 11:51Speaker 1: So Garthley, to see what my country has become. My
- 11:54Speaker 1: parents came here from Holland sixty seven. Years ago it
- 11:58Speaker 1: came to what they thought was and of peace, so
- 12:01Speaker 1: far from the troubles of war torn Europe. Yet now
- 12:05Speaker 1: that distance between us and foreign troubles has completely vanished
- 12:08Speaker 1: because we have imported those distant wars to our streets
- 12:13Speaker 1: and our beaches through mass immigration, and immigration will, like
- 12:18Speaker 1: it or not, become an even bigger issue. Now, how
- 12:20Speaker 1: did we let the elder gunman Sajid Akram come in
- 12:24Speaker 1: apparently from Pakistan and a student visa and stay here
- 12:28Speaker 1: when this is the same man who yesterday draped this
- 12:30Speaker 1: car with an Islamic state flag and then went hunting Jews.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Opposition leader sus In Leeds is already working on a
- 12:38Speaker 1: tougher immigration policy, new tests to keep out people at
- 12:41Speaker 1: war with our values. She met people Jewishia leaders at
- 12:45Speaker 1: Bondo today and also seem to signal a cultural revolution.
- 12:49Speaker 9: Yes, there is anger. There is palpable anger because anti
- 12:55Speaker 9: Semitism in Australia has been left to festera Many of
- 13:00Speaker 9: us who've been close to the Jewish Australians as I
- 13:03Speaker 9: have been for the last two years, have heard story
- 13:07Speaker 9: after story of hideous anti Semitism. We've seen a clear
- 13:13Speaker 9: failure to keep Jewish Australians safe. We've seen a clear
- 13:20Speaker 9: lack of leadership in keeping Jewish Australians safe. We have
- 13:27Speaker 9: a government that sees anti Semitism as a problem to
- 13:32Speaker 9: be managed, not evil that needs to be eradicated. Everything
- 13:38Speaker 9: must change every.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Single day, Bushy go as far as I think is
- 13:44Speaker 1: absolutely necessary. One politician in particular, really soaring the polls.
- 13:49Speaker 1: She is vowing to make this a very big issue.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Pauline Hanson is the leader of one nation and joins
- 13:54Speaker 1: me now, Pauline, thank you for joining me on this
- 13:58Speaker 1: ghastly day after that horrible thing that has shamed our country.
- 14:04Speaker 1: What has happened to Australia, Pauline that for the first
- 14:07Speaker 1: time in our history we get this kind of horrific
- 14:11Speaker 1: mass murder of Jews.
- 14:15Speaker 10: We've turned a blind eye to it. And the politicians
- 14:17Speaker 10: have done this over a number of decades that they've
- 14:20Speaker 10: allowed this to happen. As you've said in your editorial,
- 14:23Speaker 10: what you've said, you know, people they've brought into the country,
- 14:25Speaker 10: even you know forty nine years ago. The wrong people
- 14:28Speaker 10: have been brought in here with the wrong ideology, the
- 14:31Speaker 10: people that will not assimilate into the strain culture and values,
- 14:35Speaker 10: and we're not on the same page. And I've been
- 14:37Speaker 10: speaking about this for many, many years. And when I
- 14:40Speaker 10: spoke out against multiculturalism in nineteen ninety six, you know,
- 14:44Speaker 10: people boohooed me and they said, oh, well, I wouldn't know.
- 14:46Speaker 10: You know, it's all about the food. It's not about
- 14:49Speaker 10: the food, people, It's got nothing to do with the food.
- 14:52Speaker 10: It's about the cultural beliefs. It's about obeying the laws.
- 14:56Speaker 10: It's about assimilating. It's about feeling that you are part
- 14:59Speaker 10: of this country, that you embrace this land, you embrace
- 15:02Speaker 10: your fellow Australians, and people have We've brought the wrong
- 15:05Speaker 10: people here. And I've been speaking about this for so long.
- 15:09Speaker 10: You know, Susan Lee to listen to her. I think
- 15:11Speaker 10: she's pathetic. She doesn't warm me up at all, and
- 15:15Speaker 10: I don't have confidence in her, the same as they
- 15:18Speaker 10: don't have confidence in our Prime minister, who was weak, gutless.
- 15:22Speaker 10: And I've just got no time for them whatsoever. Australians
- 15:26Speaker 10: now were angry last night, they're sad today and they
- 15:31Speaker 10: just don't know where to turn. They don't feel their
- 15:34Speaker 10: safeness country anymore. And they have a right to feel
- 15:37Speaker 10: that way unless we hit strong leadership and we really
- 15:41Speaker 10: turn the focus on who these men are, what the
- 15:44Speaker 10: background is, why were they doing this. It's got nothing
- 15:48Speaker 10: to do with the guns. It's about the ideology that
- 15:52Speaker 10: these men felt and believed in, and that's what we've
- 15:57Speaker 10: got to turn around. Take a good hard look out
- 15:59Speaker 10: our em cration, which I've been on about for years
- 16:02Speaker 10: and years and years. And I feel like chill. I'm
- 16:05Speaker 10: blue in the face. And yet you know, I hear
- 16:08Speaker 10: such weak, pathetic words from you know, the opposition leader
- 16:14Speaker 10: and our Prime minister.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Well you say it's not about the guns. The Prime
- 16:19Speaker 1: Minister seems to think he's solved it all. Will solved
- 16:22Speaker 1: a lot of it today. He met other leaders this
- 16:26Speaker 1: afternoon and came out and said, well, we now got
- 16:29Speaker 1: tougher gun controls so that people like that old achiller
- 16:32Speaker 1: yesterday can't have six guns and can't have any guns
- 16:37Speaker 1: if they're not an Australian citizen. Now, I didn't know
- 16:39Speaker 1: this whole tragedy could be wrapped up this simply and
- 16:42Speaker 1: so quickly, did you.
- 16:47Speaker 10: You know what they're affecting the whole issue and not
- 16:50Speaker 10: he hasn't even said they're Islamic terrorists. Not once have
- 16:53Speaker 10: I heard him say that. So they're defecting the whole
- 16:56Speaker 10: lot about guns. And there you have the farmers, you
- 16:59Speaker 10: have binding shooters out there saying, well, have we got
- 17:02Speaker 10: to take the blame for this? Are we going to
- 17:05Speaker 10: be faced with losing now guns because they didn't do
- 17:08Speaker 10: the right thing as they pointed out and release it.
- 17:10Speaker 11: I put out.
- 17:11Speaker 10: You know, this was a fellow twenty four years of
- 17:15Speaker 10: age that was under azioh. He was investigated, you know,
- 17:18Speaker 10: for radicalization and yet he was living with his father
- 17:23Speaker 10: who had six guns. Why wasn't he investigated? If you've
- 17:26Speaker 10: got a domestic violence you can't be in a house
- 17:28Speaker 10: that has guns. Why was he allowed to be in
- 17:31Speaker 10: the house with his father with the guns there? So
- 17:35Speaker 10: you know, the Prime Minister is wrong on this point
- 17:38Speaker 10: and I will not support him with changing the gun
- 17:40Speaker 10: laws in Australia with regards to this. The government and
- 17:44Speaker 10: the departments have failed to deal with this issue, to
- 17:48Speaker 10: deal with the young one and living with his father
- 17:51Speaker 10: who had the gun license. So I think they're passing
- 17:56Speaker 10: the buck. I blame the Prime Minister. He's the one
- 17:59Speaker 10: who's got blood on his hands. He has got blood
- 18:02Speaker 10: on his hands. They didn't deal with the whole isshue
- 18:06Speaker 10: the last two years because it because it's been it's
- 18:10Speaker 10: been bubbling over. When I spoke to the Jewish boys
- 18:14Speaker 10: that came to Parliament House and I spoke to them
- 18:16Speaker 10: on the lawns, they were being bullied. We've seen this
- 18:19Speaker 10: happen time and time again. He brought out these these
- 18:22Speaker 10: refugees from Gaza that we know they can't stand each other.
- 18:27Speaker 10: The cultures are totally different. Why bring them out here
- 18:31Speaker 10: to Australia when even Muslim countries wouldn't have them. Why
- 18:34Speaker 10: bring out the isis rides and their children to Australia
- 18:37Speaker 10: when Australians don't want them. Why do we keep bringing
- 18:40Speaker 10: people in the country that are not compatible with our
- 18:43Speaker 10: culture in the way of life. Australians keep asking these questions.
- 18:47Speaker 10: He knew there was an issue with the with the
- 18:49Speaker 10: Jewish people. He said, we don't want division hearing in
- 18:53Speaker 10: our country. He's created the division because he never rained
- 18:57Speaker 10: in these Islamic clerics with the hatred on our streets
- 19:02Speaker 10: and it, you know, and their prayer rooms. It was
- 19:05Speaker 10: the hatred that's kept going on and on, and he
- 19:08Speaker 10: made the Jewish people feel it was their issue, their problem,
- 19:12Speaker 10: they're the cause of all this, which they weren't. And
- 19:14Speaker 10: that's why I stood up for them, and I spoke
- 19:16Speaker 10: up on behalf of the Jewish people who are you know,
- 19:19Speaker 10: Australians here have a right to live in peace and harmony.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Well, just in the corner of the screen viewers, we'll
- 19:26Speaker 1: see that we getting live shots of the visil. We'll
- 19:29Speaker 1: keep running as some of that during the evening. You
- 19:32Speaker 1: can see a mountain of flowers. This has really really
- 19:36Speaker 1: affected Australian's Pauline, but I think it should have and
- 19:41Speaker 1: perhaps it shouldn't have come such a shock given I
- 19:44Speaker 1: think this was years in the making. But Pauline Hansen,
- 19:47Speaker 1: thank you so much for your time. Now we know
- 19:51Speaker 1: the names of some of the victims. So far, they
- 19:54Speaker 1: include Matilda just ten years old, Alexander Klagmann, Dan El Kayan,
- 20:03Speaker 1: Peter Maher, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, one of two Rabbis Reuven Morrison,
- 20:09Speaker 1: Rabbi Yakov Levitan Tibor Weitzen.
- 20:15Speaker 12: I mean, oh.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Gosh, there's sore more that we're going to hear from.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Of course, not all the names have been released. Than
- 20:23Speaker 1: God spare any more names being added to the dead,
- 20:26Speaker 1: because they've still got a lot of people in hospital.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I should say something about the heroes, and we saw
- 20:31Speaker 1: yesterday there was from the police two officers now in
- 20:35Speaker 1: a critical condition in hospital trying to save their fellow citizens.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Also the courage of the many people who helped the
- 20:42Speaker 1: injured while bullets were flying, and especially the courages of
- 20:47Speaker 1: a civilian, Ahmed al Ahmed, who pounced on the eldest
- 20:50Speaker 1: of the two gunmen and even disarmed him. He didn't
- 20:54Speaker 1: shoot him, maybe he was out of bullets, and then
- 20:56Speaker 1: he was shot at by the younger of the killers.
- 20:59Speaker 1: He was hit twice. Yes, yes, Ahmed is himself a
- 21:03Speaker 1: Muslim and a hero, an Australian hero who I hope
- 21:06Speaker 1: will never have to buy lunch in this town again,
- 21:09Speaker 1: in this country again. It should be fated everywhere he
- 21:12Speaker 1: goes as a symbol of what we can be. But
- 21:16Speaker 1: let me be blunt to those saying that, see, if
- 21:18Speaker 1: we restrict an immigration from Muslim countries, we wouldn't get
- 21:21Speaker 1: a fine Australian like O Ahmed, and they are right,
- 21:24Speaker 1: that would be our loss. That said, we also wouldn't
- 21:28Speaker 1: have got the killers and one hero doesn't bring back
- 21:32Speaker 1: all they're victims after the break, more than one thousand
- 21:39Speaker 1: Jews celebrating on Bundo Beach at a time of so
- 21:42Speaker 1: many extremists and threats, why weren't they're more police.
- 21:45Speaker 12: To protect them?
- 21:49Speaker 11: Now?
- 21:49Speaker 1: Another question about yesterday that I heard some Jewish leaders
- 21:54Speaker 1: ask as well, why were there so few police to
- 21:58Speaker 1: protect the year thousand or one thousand or so Jews
- 22:01Speaker 1: who were at that Hannuka celebration when we know there
- 22:04Speaker 1: have been hate preachers gloating at the murder of Jews
- 22:08Speaker 1: in Israel two years ago, like Sydney Shaik Ibrahim Dadoun
- 22:12Speaker 1: back then.
- 22:15Speaker 6: I'm smiling and I'm happy.
- 22:18Speaker 13: I'm that's a day of courage.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And even the police that were at the Hannukah celebration
- 22:37Speaker 1: trying to guard it, the few that were there were
- 22:40Speaker 1: armed only with handguns against men I think brought about
- 22:45Speaker 1: seven long guns at them, shotguns and the rest high
- 22:49Speaker 1: performance rifles, I mean seriously, and wonder they couldn't get
- 22:54Speaker 1: close enough at first to take them out much sooner.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But the most heater is on the Minister of having
- 23:00Speaker 1: seemed to abandon Jews and today though he claim to
- 23:04Speaker 1: stand by.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Them, because this is a time where all Australians need
- 23:08Speaker 4: to wrap our arms around Jewish Australians. So we stand
- 23:13Speaker 4: with them, we stand against anti Semitism. We will do
- 23:16Speaker 4: whatever is necessary to stamp it out. Any Semitism as
- 23:20Speaker 4: a scourg it's been around for a long period of time.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Join mister Panell, Michael Kroger, former Victorian Liberal presidents and
- 23:29Speaker 1: Stephen Conroy, former Labor Senator and cabinet minister. Michael Anthony
- 23:35Speaker 1: Obernezi receiving a lot of criticism. Does he deserve it?
- 23:40Speaker 14: Does he deserve it?
- 23:43Speaker 4: Well?
- 23:43Speaker 14: Of course he does. This has all happened on his watch.
- 23:46Speaker 14: And he says, well, if I hear one more time, Andrew,
- 23:50Speaker 14: we stand against andy Semitism, We'll do whatever we need
- 23:53Speaker 14: to do. He's been in charge for two years, Andrew,
- 23:56Speaker 14: We've now had Jews murdered on the streets of Sydney.
- 24:00Speaker 14: As he deserves it. Of course he does. The first
- 24:02Speaker 14: thing this guy ought to do is go to Israel.
- 24:05Speaker 14: I don't want to hear another word from him or
- 24:07Speaker 14: Wong or Burke unless I hear them speaking in the
- 24:11Speaker 14: ashes amongst the ashes at Kafaraza. When I see Alberanizi's
- 24:15Speaker 14: standing there talking about Jews and standing with Jews, then
- 24:19Speaker 14: I'll start to believe him. He needs to run a
- 24:22Speaker 14: national advertising campaign. The federal government should spend the next
- 24:26Speaker 14: two years on a national advertising campaign print, TV, radio,
- 24:32Speaker 14: online publicizing what Jewish hatred means and why we are
- 24:37Speaker 14: against it. He needs to have a national commission of
- 24:41Speaker 14: elder Australian, of older Australians, you know, former prime ministers
- 24:44Speaker 14: and premiers dealing with anti Semitism. He needs to show
- 24:49Speaker 14: the idea video Andrew where Jews were slaughtered and beheaded
- 24:53Speaker 14: by these Palestinian Hamas savages. That should be shown in
- 24:58Speaker 14: every school to year twelve students at every university in
- 25:01Speaker 14: the arts institutions. Any organization receiving federal government funds should
- 25:07Speaker 14: be forced to watch the IDF video if you want
- 25:10Speaker 14: to deal with what Jewish hatred.
- 25:12Speaker 11: Is all about.
- 25:13Speaker 14: And of course we should send the refugees from Garza home.
- 25:17Speaker 14: We should strengthen the character test and the Migration Act immediately.
- 25:21Speaker 14: I mean Jason would and a number of liberals tried
- 25:23Speaker 14: to do this in twenty nineteen to make it easy
- 25:26Speaker 14: to deport people on visas and the Labor Party voted
- 25:29Speaker 14: against it twice.
- 25:30Speaker 7: Twice.
- 25:30Speaker 14: They voted against it right twice, Albanisi in those days,
- 25:35Speaker 14: there needs to be the immediate limentation of Siegel. Obviously,
- 25:40Speaker 14: that's been on his desk for seven months, and on
- 25:44Speaker 14: it goes. There's so many things that the government could
- 25:47Speaker 14: do urgently about face masks and demonstrations, et cetera, et cetera.
- 25:52Speaker 14: What's this guy done? Nothing? Nothing. He stands there and says,
- 25:56Speaker 14: I've given a few shekels to some Jewish organizations. They
- 25:59Speaker 14: should feel happy, happy, that's what he's done. And now
- 26:02Speaker 14: we get Jews slaughtered in Sydney Andrew. Should he be blamed, Yes,
- 26:05Speaker 14: of course he should.
- 26:08Speaker 1: We've just got a vision of former Prime Minister Scott
- 26:11Speaker 1: Morrison laying his wreath at this very moving memorial site
- 26:19Speaker 1: at Bundo Beach Stephen. There's a lot of anger. Some
- 26:25Speaker 1: will say it's too soon after the shootings, but boy,
- 26:29Speaker 1: there's a lot of anger among the Jewish community. How
- 26:33Speaker 1: much is the Prime Minister responsible? I think saying blood
- 26:39Speaker 1: on his hands, I hate that. I think that's far
- 26:41Speaker 1: too much, far too much and too heavy a charge.
- 26:45Speaker 1: But what do you think?
- 26:48Speaker 11: Well, firstly, my heart does that to remember the Australian
- 26:51Speaker 11: Jewish community what they're going through at the moment. To
- 26:55Speaker 11: feel that you can't walk safely in the streets of
- 26:58Speaker 11: Australia is a shameful thing for our country. All Australians
- 27:04Speaker 11: deserve to feel safe. In terms of I agree with
- 27:07Speaker 11: some of what Michael said there about a national education
- 27:10Speaker 11: and information campaign so Australians absolutely understand what has gone on.
- 27:18Speaker 11: So I absolutely agree with Michael on that. I think
- 27:23Speaker 11: that's where I think I agree with him. I think
- 27:29Speaker 11: it's important to implement the Seagull recommendations. I think the
- 27:33Speaker 11: government has to send the most unambiguous message to those
- 27:40Speaker 11: hate preachers that it is over. It is unacceptable. They
- 27:45Speaker 11: have to call it out, they have to be seen
- 27:47Speaker 11: to call it out. They have to take action to
- 27:50Speaker 11: ban organizations that preach and encourage this behavior, the statements,
- 27:58Speaker 11: and they have to do it quickly. It is just
- 28:02Speaker 11: not acceptable that these rants, these anti Semitic Jew hating rants,
- 28:08Speaker 11: are able to be allowed and tolerated.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Enough is enough, Michael. You know, I agree for the
- 28:17Speaker 1: dead and the injured and people who suffered so much
- 28:20Speaker 1: loss yesterday. And you know what, I also makes me
- 28:24Speaker 1: cry to think of what has happened to Australia. I
- 28:27Speaker 1: mean in our lifetime that we've come to this. Where
- 28:32Speaker 1: did we go so wrong?
- 28:36Speaker 14: So Andrew, there's no doubt the character of this country
- 28:39Speaker 14: has changed. And I think it's fair to say now
- 28:42Speaker 14: the multicultural experiment is being torn asunder by people who
- 28:48Speaker 14: don't share Western values. It's not to say their culture
- 28:53Speaker 14: is no good, it's just different. They like the culture
- 28:57Speaker 14: of their countries, even though a lot of them have
- 28:59Speaker 14: come here. It's just a different culture. We like the
- 29:02Speaker 14: Western way of life, we like the Westminster system of government.
- 29:05Speaker 14: We like freedom, democracy, religious freedom, tolerance, madship. We're proud
- 29:11Speaker 14: of our country and its history. We're not faultless, of course,
- 29:14Speaker 14: not what country is. But people who come to Australia
- 29:17Speaker 14: that want to set up enclaves, that's fine. But if
- 29:23Speaker 14: you're not going to integrate into this country then it's
- 29:27Speaker 14: just not working. And it's not working yesterday will change
- 29:31Speaker 14: this country forever. And if the message from Albanesi two
- 29:35Speaker 14: years ago had been a strong message, as it would
- 29:40Speaker 14: have been under Howard Morrison, Turnbull, Shorten or Gillard, then
- 29:47Speaker 14: we wouldn't be in this position today. All of those
- 29:50Speaker 14: five former prime ministers would have come out on day
- 29:53Speaker 14: one and day one had been very strong against anti Semitism,
- 29:58Speaker 14: Jewish hatred and taken very strong action. But Andrew, what's
- 30:01Speaker 14: happened over the last two years has been this dog whistling,
- 30:05Speaker 14: this dog whistling against Jews, against Israel, wink wink at
- 30:09Speaker 14: the UN, wink wink in donations, wink winkin criticize them.
- 30:13Speaker 14: Net You remember Penny one was asked, would you arrest
- 30:17Speaker 14: Benjamin netnya who if she if he came to Australia,
- 30:20Speaker 14: She wouldn't say no, she said, remember she said, we
- 30:23Speaker 14: have we have to be bound by international law. The
- 30:25Speaker 14: Foreign Minister thinks the Israeli Prime minister should have arrested
- 30:29Speaker 14: if it was. This is what I'm saying about the
- 30:31Speaker 14: dog whistling, the dog whistling against against Jews.
- 30:37Speaker 11: Make one final point. It isn't one for government to try,
- 30:42Speaker 11: thank you. It isn't good enough for the government to
- 30:44Speaker 11: try and assert that the level of anti Islamophobia can
- 30:50Speaker 11: possibly be matched by what has been going on and
- 30:56Speaker 11: what has just happened. Correct, That is not an argument
- 30:59Speaker 11: that is sustainable today going forward. It's struggled to be
- 31:03Speaker 11: sustainable up to now. It is absolutely unsustainable from yesterday
- 31:09Speaker 11: going forward.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Correct, Stephen Conory were very well said, thank you so much.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Totally in agreement with you. Michael Kroger, thank you very
- 31:17Speaker 1: much to you both. After the break, Donald Trump weighs
- 31:21Speaker 1: in on the Bondeo massacre. Who is really to blame
- 31:25Speaker 1: apart from the killers themselves? Both the King and Britain's
- 31:33Speaker 1: Prime Minister have expressed their shock of the Bondeo massacres,
- 31:36Speaker 1: so did US President Donald Trump.
- 31:40Speaker 7: Likewise, in Australia, as you know, there was a terrible attack,
- 31:42Speaker 7: eleven dead, twenty nine badly wounded, and that was an
- 31:47Speaker 7: antisemitic attack obviously, and that I just want to pay
- 31:52Speaker 7: my respects to everybody, but to Australian, the Prime Minister,
- 31:57Speaker 7: to everybody that we know so well, we get along
- 32:00Speaker 7: so well, we have a great relationship.
- 32:02Speaker 15: That's a terrible situation going on over there. Think of
- 32:06Speaker 15: that you probably read if it's been it's been a
- 32:10Speaker 15: very very brave person actually who went and attacked frontally
- 32:16Speaker 15: one of the shooters and saved a lot of lives.
- 32:19Speaker 15: So very brave person who's right now in the hospital.
- 32:22Speaker 15: Pretty seriously wounded, so great respect to that man that
- 32:27Speaker 15: did that. But we're here for a different reason.
- 32:31Speaker 16: We're here to celebrate Christmas and to celebrate and I
- 32:36Speaker 16: think today we can verse say loudly we celebrate Hanukkah
- 32:41Speaker 16: because that was such a horrible attack, that was a
- 32:43Speaker 16: purely anti Semitic attack.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Luckily that here we showed you earlier disarming one of
- 32:50Speaker 1: the gunmen has not very seriously wounded, So that's one
- 32:54Speaker 1: very bit of good news. Donald Trump wasn't political about
- 32:57Speaker 1: what he'd seen, but influential Republicans Senator Lindsay Graham, he
- 33:01Speaker 1: sure was.
- 33:03Speaker 14: For the Australian government. You let your people down.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Every Western government who's recognized a Palestinian state, you're rewarding
- 33:10Speaker 4: killing Jews.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Joining me is the country's top foreign affairs writer, Greg
- 33:16Speaker 1: Sheridan of The Australian Greg very very few countries outside
- 33:21Speaker 1: Israel have had such a bloody terrorist attack on their Jews.
- 33:25Speaker 1: What does that say about us?
- 33:30Speaker 12: Well, Andrew, it's good to be with you on that
- 33:33Speaker 12: very somber day. This is a terrible day for Australian Jews,
- 33:38Speaker 12: but it's a terrible day for Australia. This is a
- 33:40Speaker 12: really terrible day for Australia. Australia thirty or forty years
- 33:45Speaker 12: ago was probably the safest country in the world for Jews.
- 33:49Speaker 12: We didn't have these historic hatreds from the Old World.
- 33:53Speaker 12: John Monash was the most important Jewish military leader since
- 33:57Speaker 12: biblical times. Sir Isaac the first Australian born governor general
- 34:02Speaker 12: in the nineteen thirties when anti Semitism was roiling through Europe.
- 34:07Speaker 12: But we have imported now left wing antisemitism through our universities,
- 34:11Speaker 12: and we've imported Islamist anti semitism through a minority of
- 34:16Speaker 12: our Islamic migrants. And I've been writing for two years
- 34:22Speaker 12: trying to get the Albaneza government to realize there are
- 34:25Speaker 12: two crises. There's a national crisis of anti Semitism and
- 34:28Speaker 12: a global crisis of antisemitism. But I think the Alberanesi
- 34:32Speaker 12: government has been appalling, woeful and culpable in its management
- 34:37Speaker 12: of the situation. That has not given any moral leadership,
- 34:40Speaker 12: that has not recognized the seriousness of the problem. And
- 34:43Speaker 12: I think it's been motivated by cynical vote gathering, not
- 34:47Speaker 12: only amongst Muslim voters, but amongst inner city voters who
- 34:50Speaker 12: have gone to our corrupted universities and come out with
- 34:52Speaker 12: a blind hatred of Israel, which shades over into antisemitism.
- 34:57Speaker 12: We can never go back before this day, a changed
- 35:00Speaker 12: nation forever because of this horror.
- 35:05Speaker 1: You're quite right to underline the role of universities and
- 35:09Speaker 1: the left. It's not all you know, Muslim immigrants at all.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I mean there's the preaching anti capitalists, anti West, anti
- 35:16Speaker 1: Israel in the universities which is just so toxic, so destructive.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Now the Albanize government has been so critical of Israel
- 35:26Speaker 1: and how Israel fights isms, enemies, et cetera. To negotiate
- 35:31Speaker 1: is if you couldn't negotiate with people who actually want
- 35:33Speaker 1: your dead. Will this attack teach our government now what
- 35:38Speaker 1: Israel is up again? So how do you expect dis
- 35:41Speaker 1: government to change?
- 35:45Speaker 12: I think probably not. This is a doleful conclusion. The
- 35:49Speaker 12: history of these atrocities is that the sympathy for Jews
- 35:52Speaker 12: evaporates pretty quickly. Not only that, although I think the
- 35:59Speaker 12: demonized of Israel by our government has certainly had the
- 36:03Speaker 12: effect of demonizing Australian Jews. So the government is culpable
- 36:07Speaker 12: for this irresponsibility in the way that it has managed
- 36:11Speaker 12: the situation. I mean, the result is a massacre of Jews.
- 36:15Speaker 12: The government is responsible for policy. The policy has failed,
- 36:19Speaker 12: so the government is responsible for that failure. However, it's
- 36:23Speaker 12: not necessary to support everything that Israel does all the time.
- 36:27Speaker 12: I mean, I'm a lifelong supporter of Israel. I love Israel,
- 36:30Speaker 12: I'm inspired by Israel. But I don't think all the
- 36:32Speaker 12: actions of the net Nyahu government have been justified in
- 36:35Speaker 12: this matter, nor do I think the actions of settlers
- 36:38Speaker 12: or Ben Gevere or spot Ridge. But in criticizing them, no,
- 36:43Speaker 12: Australian Jew is responsible for the policy of the Israeli government.
- 36:48Speaker 12: And you can criticize the government of Israel without demonizing
- 36:51Speaker 12: the government of Israel. So we're apparently happy never to
- 36:56Speaker 12: say boo about China, which is just in prison, a
- 36:59Speaker 12: whole swag of Christian pastors and so on. Don't say
- 37:03Speaker 12: boodh a goose about that, ever, But because it affects
- 37:06Speaker 12: their internal party politics, and because Israel won't strike us back,
- 37:11Speaker 12: the Albanesi government can read lectures extravagant moral lectures to
- 37:16Speaker 12: Israel which have the effect of demonizing Israel and demonizing
- 37:20Speaker 12: Australian Jews. Now, if the Albanesi government would just shut
- 37:23Speaker 12: up about the Middle East. That would be a great
- 37:26Speaker 12: step forward. They can have no beneficial effect on the
- 37:29Speaker 12: Middle East with anything they do in policy, So how
- 37:33Speaker 12: about they pay a bit of attention to the mess
- 37:35Speaker 12: they've made in Australia and leave the Middle East to
- 37:37Speaker 12: sort out its own problems.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Funny how recognizing Palasinian state has brought us absolutely no peace,
- 37:44Speaker 1: dividend whatsoever. Instead, it's contributed to this toxic, lethal atmosphere
- 37:51Speaker 1: of hatred. Greg Sheridan, thank you so much for your time.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Really appreciated, looking forward to reading more of your pieces
- 37:59Speaker 1: in the Australian. Thank you so much. Unbelievable after the break,
- 38:06Speaker 1: I ask and Jews ask, why did it take this
- 38:12Speaker 1: horror for so many Australians to finally.
- 38:15Speaker 17: See this is what it's taken for Australians to finalist
- 38:21Speaker 17: that happens to peak up because we have felt so alone.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Now I've long been critical of our top Muslim organizations
- 38:33Speaker 1: and their failure to confront Islamist extremism. I mean, they
- 38:37Speaker 1: wouldn't even condemn the Hamas terrorist group and the anniversary
- 38:40Speaker 1: of the October seventh slaughter of twelve hundred Israelis, but
- 38:45Speaker 1: this time the Australian National Imam's Council has condemned this
- 38:50Speaker 1: attack on Jews. His said stood in solidarity with Australian Jews,
- 38:54Speaker 1: although adding was also an attack on the Muslim community.
- 38:58Speaker 1: The funny thing is that I've just seen an uploaded
- 39:01Speaker 1: statement it seems to be replacing this one saying deplauds
- 39:06Speaker 1: the attack and attack doesn't mention Jews at all, which
- 39:10Speaker 1: is weird anyway. The Council's Bill l Ralph went on
- 39:13Speaker 1: radio to warn the media not to attack the Muslim community.
- 39:17Speaker 18: Depends on our political leaders, It depends on our media.
- 39:22Speaker 18: It depends upon how we discuss and engage and respond
- 39:27Speaker 18: with what has occurred, whether we pursue divisive or incendiary
- 39:35Speaker 18: narratives and rhetoric, whether we start attacking groups of people,
- 39:41Speaker 18: or whether we see it for what it is, which
- 39:44Speaker 18: is a horrific attack against Australians, Australian Jewish people, etc.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Jewish people etc. The most powerful interview I saw all
- 39:56Speaker 1: day though, was by scone new host Nika Di Giorgio
- 40:00Speaker 1: interviewing Jews at Bondo today.
- 40:03Speaker 11: You're wearing You're Never Again is now t shirt?
- 40:06Speaker 19: Today Why I bought this T shirt after October seven
- 40:14Speaker 19: and today you walking around Bondi, It's exactly like.
- 40:18Speaker 17: What October eighth felt like. It was eerie, it was quieted.
- 40:25Speaker 13: In the Jewish.
- 40:26Speaker 19: Community are thinking, people are gonna.
- 40:29Speaker 17: I'd ask you if we need to do we need
- 40:31Speaker 17: to go? Where can we go? This is what it's
- 40:34Speaker 17: taken for Australians.
- 40:37Speaker 13: To finally stand up and to beak up because we
- 40:40Speaker 13: have felt so alone, like we have felt so alone,
- 40:44Speaker 13: you know, like only we can understand this trauma and
- 40:48Speaker 13: the opera house steps.
- 40:50Speaker 17: The five bombings, the vandalism, walking.
- 40:53Speaker 19: Around, seeing stickers everywhere people, you know, the car's coming
- 40:59Speaker 19: from other suburbs with the flags flying, and you know,
- 41:03Speaker 19: and I think Australians have honestly thought that this was
- 41:05Speaker 19: just a Jewish problem, and now I think they've woken
- 41:08Speaker 19: up and it's taken you know, fifteen of our community members.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Joining me is the panel, both Jews. Michael Danby, former
- 41:18Speaker 1: Federal Labor MP David Adler, former head of the Austrange
- 41:21Speaker 1: Jewish Association. Gentlemen, I'm so sorry to have left you
- 41:24Speaker 1: so little time. We've had so much to cover. But Michael,
- 41:29Speaker 1: is that a common feeling among Jews that it's taken
- 41:33Speaker 1: this for Australians finally to see what they've been going through.
- 41:38Speaker 20: It's absolutely a common feeling. The zeitgeist in Australia has
- 41:41Speaker 20: changed since previous governments. Under this government we've now had,
- 41:47Speaker 20: so we've got a million Muslim immigrants. Five percent are
- 41:51Speaker 20: vulnerable to extremism. That's fifty fifty thousand. See a change
- 41:57Speaker 20: government that let's in isis Bride, that let's in three
- 42:01Speaker 20: thousand unvetted or barely vetted Gazans and gives one hundred
- 42:06Speaker 20: and thirty million dollars to Undra. They perceive that the
- 42:09Speaker 20: atmosphere has changed and they feel embold in and empowered.
- 42:13Speaker 20: And every Jew in Australia and every person of sensitivity
- 42:16Speaker 20: must see that this is the effect of the government's policies.
- 42:21Speaker 1: David Adler, where do Jews feel safe now? If you
- 42:25Speaker 1: can't even feel safe in Australia, we haven't got we
- 42:38Speaker 1: haven't got him. We'll come back to him, Michael, I'll
- 42:40Speaker 1: ask that question of you. Where are Jews safe now?
- 42:43Speaker 8: Well?
- 42:43Speaker 20: The ironic thing is that so many people are considering
- 42:47Speaker 20: travel plans to go to Israel now that the war
- 42:50Speaker 20: there is basically over. Many people say they feel safer
- 42:53Speaker 20: walking around the streets of Tel Aviv than they do
- 42:56Speaker 20: down in Bondai. It's a sad reflection in Australian and
- 42:59Speaker 20: Greg Eridan was perfectly right in your previous segment to
- 43:04Speaker 20: Andrew when he said, this is a terrible effect in Australia.
- 43:07Speaker 20: How do you think people all over the world perceive Sydney.
- 43:10Speaker 20: How do you think they even from the narrow point
- 43:12Speaker 20: of view of tourism, would they want to come here
- 43:14Speaker 20: with these people being let rampant? Of course not. It's
- 43:18Speaker 20: just a terrible It began with that, the failure of
- 43:21Speaker 20: the police to act against those people chanting gas the
- 43:25Speaker 20: Jews on the steps of our iconic opera house. These people,
- 43:28Speaker 20: this five percent of extremists of a certain community, have
- 43:33Speaker 20: defamed all of Australia and they've continued until this day.
- 43:38Speaker 1: David, what has happened to your country?
- 43:42Speaker 8: Well, what's happened to the country is that we have
- 43:45Speaker 8: been portrayed. The bipartisan policy that existed when Michael Danby
- 43:53Speaker 8: was in Parliament is no longer. And I was invited
- 43:57Speaker 8: to Israel by the Israeli gan thement earlier this year
- 44:01Speaker 8: in order to participate in the Israeli government Anti Semitism
- 44:06Speaker 8: summit and to give the Australian briefing the Australian perspective,
- 44:11Speaker 8: and in order to prepare I listed in a document
- 44:15Speaker 8: over twenty major hostile decisions, hostile to Israel and hostile
- 44:21Speaker 8: to the Jewish community. It is something that we have
- 44:25Speaker 8: never imagined would occur in a friendly country. From the
- 44:31Speaker 8: withdrawal of recognition of Jerusalem in part as capital of Israel,
- 44:36Speaker 8: through to the UN voting through to the condemnation repeatedly
- 44:42Speaker 8: of Israel beginning October seven when the Foreign Minister Penny
- 44:47Speaker 8: Wong insisted on restraint by Israel when it was under
- 44:54Speaker 8: unrestrained terrorist attack. And it's just continued, and it's built
- 44:59Speaker 8: later upon layer upon layer, and this is the result
- 45:02Speaker 8: of it.
- 45:04Speaker 1: But David, we saw with the terror attacks in France
- 45:09Speaker 1: against the Jews and others there a great flight of
- 45:15Speaker 1: Jews to Israel. Do you see that any sign of
- 45:19Speaker 1: that sort of thing happening here?
- 45:22Speaker 8: Yes, we do see a sign of it. And let
- 45:24Speaker 8: me tell you that behind the scenes, Israel's a very
- 45:29Speaker 8: clever country and they have recently put in place additional
- 45:34Speaker 8: incentives for successful Jews to move to Israel. I suspect
- 45:41Speaker 8: that it was in large part directed towards the New
- 45:46Speaker 8: York Jews as a result of the change in political
- 45:50Speaker 8: environment there, but it applies equally to the Australian Jews.
- 45:54Speaker 8: And I know many people who are looking at those incentives,
- 45:59Speaker 8: and there are now both push and pull factors for
- 46:02Speaker 8: people in the Jewish community to consider a move to Israel.
- 46:07Speaker 8: And I wouldn't be surprised at all if in the
- 46:09Speaker 8: next year or two or three we see maybe even
- 46:14Speaker 8: a few thousand of our best people moving.
- 46:20Speaker 1: What a tragy, What an indictment of this country. David Adam,
- 46:25Speaker 1: Michael Danby. I'm so sorry to keep you so short
- 46:28Speaker 1: on a day when I know your heart's are full,
- 46:30Speaker 1: But let's talk later. Thank you. That's it for me.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Coming up now, Sherry Markson, who's hosting her own show
- 46:38Speaker 1: from Bondai after covering yesterday's terrible, terrible events and so well,
- 46:43Speaker 1: despite the trauma of seeing fellow Jews murdered, give your
- 46:47Speaker 1: attention for me. Good night,
