- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are last break of the
- 0:02Speaker 1: day on this Friday. We love fridays around here. Thank
- 0:07Speaker 1: you guys for listening. As always. Junior, you have a
- 0:10Speaker 1: question for Steve as.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We go out, I do now, you know, and it's
- 0:14Speaker 2: going to the weekend. I want to ask you something
- 0:16Speaker 2: unk about being great, the decision that you made to
- 0:19Speaker 2: be great. It's okay to be great, It's okay.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Did you check with Tommy before you ask Steve that question?
- 0:25Speaker 3: By the way, I mean no, no, I ain't checking
- 0:27Speaker 3: with him. I'm trying to figure I mean, what are
- 0:30Speaker 3: you asking me to what?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Sometimes people feel like, you know, to be great, to
- 0:35Speaker 2: move forward. It's okay to be great, It's okay. When
- 0:38Speaker 2: did you make that decision? When did you make decisions? Well,
- 0:41Speaker 2: it's great.
- 0:42Speaker 3: It's absolutely fine to want to be great at something.
- 0:48Speaker 3: You know, that's not an arrogant thing to want to
- 0:51Speaker 3: be great at something. I mean, you know, you can
- 0:54Speaker 3: want to be a great husband, you can want to
- 0:57Speaker 3: have be the head of a great family. It's so
- 1:01Speaker 3: many things that you can pick to be great at.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Why would you want to be mediocre as a as
- 1:07Speaker 3: a father, mediocre as a husband? Why would you want
- 1:11Speaker 3: to be just an average husband on average father, don't
- 1:18Speaker 3: I don't understand that when there's a simple way to
- 1:23Speaker 3: become great at it, because it's like everybody knows that
- 1:27Speaker 3: the difference between ordinary is and extraordinary is one word,
- 1:32Speaker 3: and that's extra. Greatness requires extra But why would you
- 1:37Speaker 3: do less? See? Doing less producers less? The results are less.
- 1:42Speaker 3: When you do more, you produce more, you can have more,
- 1:46Speaker 3: you can be more. Less for me has never been
- 1:49Speaker 3: an option. You know, I've been very, very fortunate in
- 1:52Speaker 3: my life. With all of the setbacks that I've had,
- 1:56Speaker 3: all of the missteps that I've made, I've never had
- 2:00Speaker 3: had to give back the blessings that God gave me. Now,
- 2:05Speaker 3: after saying that, I will tell you that I have
- 2:09Speaker 3: lost everything I've ever owned twice because somewhere in there
- 2:15Speaker 3: I stopped. I stopped along the way of pursuing greatness
- 2:21Speaker 3: and I started involving myself in mediocre activities, making mediocre decisions.
- 2:27Speaker 3: You know, that was a period in my life, man,
- 2:29Speaker 3: where I made some decisions that was just not for
- 2:32Speaker 3: the betterment of me. You can do that, you know,
- 2:36Speaker 3: because God gives us the power of choice, and sometimes
- 2:42Speaker 3: getting caught up into hype and the belief and having
- 2:45Speaker 3: so much fun and it feels good. A lot of
- 2:48Speaker 3: things that ain't good for you feel really good. And
- 2:52Speaker 3: let me say that again to you. A lot of
- 2:54Speaker 3: things that are not good for you feel really good.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And if you continue down that road, you have to pay.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I listened to a lot of people who are addicts,
- 3:04Speaker 3: and they talking about how they became at it. You know,
- 3:06Speaker 3: they got high of something, and then in pursuit of
- 3:10Speaker 3: that high, getting it over and over again, they kept
- 3:13Speaker 3: trying to find that original high, not realizing that it
- 3:16Speaker 3: would take more to get that original high. Now, in
- 3:20Speaker 3: that more to get that original high, it took away
- 3:24Speaker 3: time for you to pursue greatness. It's hard, man, it's
- 3:28Speaker 3: hard and so and the devil is busy. So the
- 3:31Speaker 3: devil will always present to you some form of temptation
- 3:35Speaker 3: that's not good for you, that will require your time
- 3:38Speaker 3: and allow you and require that you step away from
- 3:41Speaker 3: your pursuit of greatness. Look at what keeps happening to
- 3:43Speaker 3: this young to this brother that we always pulling for,
- 3:47Speaker 3: this brother that was a politician, Andrew Gillip. Everybody was
- 3:52Speaker 3: pulling for Hilp and he just keeps slipping back because
- 3:56Speaker 3: the devil is busy, man. He keeps putting in front
- 3:59Speaker 3: of you that thing that he know you crave. You know,
- 4:03Speaker 3: that sensation that you get from being high off of
- 4:06Speaker 3: a drug. Yeah, but it's so temporary, man, So you
- 4:10Speaker 3: have to constantly wake up and make in your mind,
- 4:14Speaker 3: make up in your mind the decision to be great,
- 4:17Speaker 3: and in the pursuit of greatness will it will help
- 4:20Speaker 3: you to make the right decision. And if you include
- 4:24Speaker 3: God in the mix, if you ask God to help
- 4:26Speaker 3: you order your steps and you ask God to show
- 4:30Speaker 3: you the way, you ask God for his guidance, You
- 4:34Speaker 3: ask God for his patience. You ask God to speak
- 4:38Speaker 3: to me and let me know that it's you that's
- 4:40Speaker 3: talking to me. Because sometimes man, like I know a
- 4:43Speaker 3: person that has dreams and stuff and they like to
- 4:46Speaker 3: use their dreams as a sign from God. Well, every
- 4:50Speaker 3: time you dream of something that ain't God, the devil
- 4:54Speaker 3: is busy man. The devil can come to you in
- 4:56Speaker 3: your dream and make you think it's you can be convinced.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I saw it in a dream. Yeah. I had a
- 5:04Speaker 3: dude tell me one time. Man, he said, Steve, Man,
- 5:07Speaker 3: I know you know what I'm talking about man because
- 5:10Speaker 3: I had this vision of how my life was gonna
- 5:13Speaker 3: be Man and I'm gonna leave my family. I said, Man,
- 5:16Speaker 3: don't do that, bro, he said, Steve. But then you
- 5:18Speaker 3: do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did, And I paid dearly.
- 5:24Speaker 3: And even though my decision I had fixed in my
- 5:28Speaker 3: mind that it was the right thing to do at
- 5:31Speaker 3: the time I made it, I made it at a
- 5:34Speaker 3: point in my life where I at twenty seven. I
- 5:38Speaker 3: was using a twenty seven year old mentality. But my
- 5:41Speaker 3: decision to pursue my greatness cost me a family. I
- 5:45Speaker 3: was just listening to Shaq on online this week talking
- 5:50Speaker 3: to his son, his son who wants to be in
- 5:53Speaker 3: basketball and pursue greatness. He said, make sure you work
- 5:56Speaker 3: because it's gonna take everything you got. And are you
- 5:58Speaker 3: sure you want to do that, because Shaq said, I
- 6:00Speaker 3: lost my family trying to be great. Because you have
- 6:05Speaker 3: to watch the decisions you make, because sometimes the pursuit
- 6:10Speaker 3: of greatness can cost you dearly. In the pursuit of greatness,
- 6:14Speaker 3: it still has to line up with the will of God.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Because the minute you can start making all your decisions
- 6:21Speaker 3: in the pursuit to greatness and it don't include God,
- 6:25Speaker 3: the Devil, gonna slip in the man. Those are my
- 6:27Speaker 3: closing remarks. I hope you got something from that today. Hey, listen,
- 6:31Speaker 3: talk to God, y'all. He would absolutely love to hear first,
- 6:36Speaker 3: even though it's been y'all. Stay in people.
