- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Also coming up ahead of that
- 0:16Speaker 1: Buccaneers Rams game, might we see Cam Acres on the
- 0:21Speaker 1: field in a Rams uniform. He'll be back on the
- 0:25Speaker 1: field here in l A the practice field later today.
- 0:28Speaker 1: More and that coming up on this game day edition
- 0:32Speaker 1: of NFL Now on NFL Network from our news room
- 0:35Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. Thanks for joining us. I'm ANDREWS Ciciliano.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Let's get right to week number nine. You heard it.
- 0:41Speaker 1: The only the only remaining a defeated team of the NFL,
- 0:44Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles in a place where they have never lost. Actually,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I would take it a step further. N r G
- 0:51Speaker 1: Stadium is what you're looking at right now. It's where
- 0:53Speaker 1: James Palmer is. James Palmer, the Philadelphia Eagles at seven
- 0:57Speaker 1: and oh and Mark Ross with us as well, have
- 1:00Speaker 1: never lost to a football team from Houston. They never
- 1:05Speaker 1: lost to the Oilers, they have never lost to the Texans.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So there's that tonight, Yeah, there is that, Andrew, And
- 1:15Speaker 1: you know Nick Serriani's approaching this game. His message to
- 1:17Speaker 1: his team all week has been similar to a game.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Maybe you're playing in weather. Since they're playing on the
- 1:22Speaker 1: short weekend, it's unlike any other week. It's the team
- 1:24Speaker 1: that believes they have an advantage usually has the advantage.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And the Eagles believe not just that their seven and
- 1:29Speaker 1: oh have the advantage in this game for several reasons,
- 1:32Speaker 1: one of them, before they played the Steelers this past Sunday,
- 1:35Speaker 1: they had a bye week. During that bye week they
- 1:37Speaker 1: prepared for both the Steelers and the Houston Texans. They
- 1:40Speaker 1: went through first down, second down, third down, four minute
- 1:43Speaker 1: red zone, went through a lot of that game planning
- 1:46Speaker 1: during the bye week. So with these just few days
- 1:48Speaker 1: they had before they arrived in Houston yesterday, they didn't
- 1:51Speaker 1: have to put all of their game planning in just
- 1:53Speaker 1: those few days. They've had a jump in their preparation. Also,
- 1:56Speaker 1: that game against the Steelers, I mentioned most of the
- 1:59Speaker 1: starters on offense didn't play the final nine minutes of
- 2:01Speaker 1: the game. Center Travis Kelsey, Travils, Jason else his brother
- 2:05Speaker 1: told me that his is the freshest he's ever felt
- 2:08Speaker 1: after a football game. So the Texans mark believe that
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Eagles didn't have to run the football against the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Steelers a whole lot. They're gonna come into this game
- 2:16Speaker 1: and run the football consistently, one of the best rushing
- 2:19Speaker 1: attacks in all of football against the Texans rush defense,
- 2:22Speaker 1: which is dead last in the NFL. Love Smith says
- 2:25Speaker 1: running that rpo game with Jalen Hurts the best in
- 2:27Speaker 1: the NFL. At it, that's what they're expecting to see
- 2:30Speaker 1: from this offense. Well, James, I think for Philly faithful,
- 2:34Speaker 1: the biggest concern tonight will be how soon can the
- 2:37Speaker 1: Eagles blow the Texans out so they can go go
- 2:38Speaker 1: start watching that Phillies World Series game. I'm expecting this
- 2:43Speaker 1: to be a second quarter onslaught ap we've seen the
- 2:45Speaker 1: Eagles do throughout this season. But as you mentioned, the
- 2:49Speaker 1: run game. Okay, well, last week was A J. Brown's game,
- 2:51Speaker 1: had a monster game to go with his excellent year.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But okay, let's stop a J. Brown. Here's DeVante Smith,
- 2:57Speaker 1: come at you, Dallas Goddard. Here's the run game. So
- 3:00Speaker 1: the big concern for the Texans is who do you
- 3:03Speaker 1: stop in this Eagles offense? Oh yeah, Jalen Hurst can
- 3:06Speaker 1: work his magic as well with his arm and his legs.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So I just think this is such a well balanced
- 3:11Speaker 1: Eagles team with so many playmakers at so many positions
- 3:15Speaker 1: to go with the stellar offensive line that keeps it
- 3:17Speaker 1: all together. And I expect this this the Eagles team
- 3:20Speaker 1: the role tonight despite the short week, the preparation. As
- 3:23Speaker 1: you mentioned, teams do that often, so I think I
- 3:26Speaker 1: expect to see this Eagles team just working on all
- 3:28Speaker 1: cylinders against this subpart Texas team. Texans team Andrews seven
- 3:32Speaker 1: wins against one and a half wins. The tie does
- 3:35Speaker 1: count as half a win. That's what the Texans have
- 3:37Speaker 1: their won five and one. And you mentioned the second quarter.
- 3:40Speaker 1: The Eagles have scored more points in the second quarter
- 3:43Speaker 1: this year, a hundred and twenty six. And then the
- 3:46Speaker 1: Texans have scored in all the quarters and sixteen Mark Ross,
- 3:51Speaker 1: James Palmer there, thank you, gentlemen. More and tenaf coming
- 3:54Speaker 1: up a little bit later. Actually, let's dive a little
- 3:57Speaker 1: bit deeper now in what Houston is going to be
- 3:58Speaker 1: working with our inside a report Insiders Singular today. Hi there,
- 4:02Speaker 1: Ian Rapp report. Brandon Cooks, well, thank you for being here.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We appreciate Brandon Cooks was not traded. On Tuesday, Brandon
- 4:10Speaker 1: Cooks took to Twitter clearly was not happy about it.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Brandon Cooks also isn't playing tonight, We've learned. So where's
- 4:18Speaker 1: this thing heading? Yeah, we'll see where this heads after tonight.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I know the Houston Texans would like to get Brandon
- 4:24Speaker 1: Cooks back in the fold, get him back playing for
- 4:27Speaker 1: this team, as he is contractually obligated to do, just
- 4:29Speaker 1: like I'm contractually obligated to be right here talking to
- 4:32Speaker 1: you guys. But Brandon Cooks is not going to play tonight.
- 4:35Speaker 1: According to me and colleague Mike Garretfold, Who's going to
- 4:37Speaker 1: be there for the game on the field, hanging out
- 4:40Speaker 1: with James Palmer. WI sit here and talk about it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So Cooks obviously not happy, clearly wanted to be traded,
- 4:46Speaker 1: Clearly wanted to be elsewhere, wanted to go to a contender,
- 4:49Speaker 1: And there was some potential contenders that were in the
- 4:51Speaker 1: mix on him, including the Rams. I know the Cowboys
- 4:53Speaker 1: had some discussions. Part of the issue here, A lot
- 4:56Speaker 1: of the issue was his fully guaranteed contract after this year,
- 4:59Speaker 1: eighteen million dollars fully guaranteed. Had Cook's been willing to
- 5:03Speaker 1: take that down drastically give it up, I have no
- 5:06Speaker 1: doubt a trade would have happened. He was not. He
- 5:08Speaker 1: was only willing to do just a little bit of
- 5:10Speaker 1: a haircut, I would say, or moved some money around.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Was not good enough for some teams, so he didn't
- 5:14Speaker 1: go anywhere. But now not playing tonight. Yeah, the eighteen
- 5:18Speaker 1: million next year not some kind of bonus structure. He
- 5:20Speaker 1: is do eighteen million dollars in base salary next year.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Texans gave him that extension. I get it, you know what,
- 5:28Speaker 1: to trade me up. I'm not going anywhere for free
- 5:30Speaker 1: and likely not playing football this evening. All right, let's
- 5:33Speaker 1: get to the cam Akers situation. A couple of weeks ago,
- 5:36Speaker 1: Ian it looked as if Sean McVeigh was done with
- 5:38Speaker 1: cam Akers. He was not traded at the deadline, same deadline. Obviously,
- 5:41Speaker 1: Brandon Cooks was frustrated with On Tuesday and then yesterday
- 5:45Speaker 1: McVeigh stepped to the podium and kind of hinted that maybe,
- 5:49Speaker 1: just maybe they can patch things up. What do we know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: there's not a lot of other options. I mean, cam
- 5:55Speaker 1: Akers remains a member of the Rams. He has really talented.
- 5:58Speaker 1: His athletic numbers, from what I've heard, are better than
- 6:02Speaker 1: they were before his achilles injury. Just hasn't really been productive.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I know, I had some philosophical and football differences with
- 6:08Speaker 1: Sean McVeigh. Wanted the football more, wanted to be in
- 6:10Speaker 1: every down, back, all of those things. But there's really
- 6:14Speaker 1: no other option for these guys than to work something
- 6:16Speaker 1: out unless the Rams side. You just cut a really
- 6:18Speaker 1: talented player, and I really don't know why they would
- 6:21Speaker 1: do that. So yeah, I think they're trying to get
- 6:23Speaker 1: him back in the mix. He is expected to be
- 6:25Speaker 1: at practice today, which is not a surprise. Where else
- 6:27Speaker 1: would he be. And then we'll see where this is
- 6:29Speaker 1: going forward. How productive can he be? And more importantly, Andrew,
- 6:33Speaker 1: can the Rams find everything that helped him be successful
- 6:37Speaker 1: early in his career? Can they do that this year? Yeah?
- 6:39Speaker 1: And they block it up right now, which is clearly
- 6:41Speaker 1: an issue. Can makers not in the building last week?
- 6:43Speaker 1: He was back in the building yesterday briefly to meet
- 6:47Speaker 1: with Sean McVeigh and expected here's the headline, as you said,
- 6:49Speaker 1: back on the practice field today. Game stat is still
- 6:52Speaker 1: very much up in the year though for Sunday. Bradley
- 6:54Speaker 1: Chubb is expected to play Sunday Ian for the Dolphins.
- 6:58Speaker 1: They got him on Tuesday, the only trade involving a
- 7:00Speaker 1: first round pick and understandably, you give up a first
- 7:03Speaker 1: round pick, you're gonna sign this long term. That's a
- 7:06Speaker 1: big deal. Yeah, it's a big deal. It's a five year,
- 7:10Speaker 1: hundred and ten million dollar extension based on new money.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Still has a pretty hefty salary for this year as well,
- 7:15Speaker 1: so you tack it all on and it adds up
- 7:17Speaker 1: to almost a hundred and nineteen million dollars on the
- 7:21Speaker 1: six year overall contract for Bradley Chubb. As far as
- 7:24Speaker 1: these specifics UH sixty three million dollars in injury guarantees,
- 7:29Speaker 1: UH fifty three million dollars becomes full I believe next
- 7:34Speaker 1: off season, so about thirty three million dollars fully guaranteed
- 7:37Speaker 1: out signing a really nice sum for Bradley Chubb. He
- 7:40Speaker 1: has in all a maximum value of a hundred eleven
- 7:43Speaker 1: million dollars when you include incentives. And I think the
- 7:46Speaker 1: most important thing for the Miami Dolphins is he's there,
- 7:49Speaker 1: he's paid, and he's ready to play for them. That's
- 7:51Speaker 1: probably something that you know, he was always gonna get
- 7:54Speaker 1: paid wherever he went, but him on the field is
- 7:56Speaker 1: the most important thing for the Its potentially ready to
- 7:59Speaker 1: play as early as this Sunday, as the Dolphins are
- 8:01Speaker 1: in Chicago to face the Bears. Thank you, I and
- 8:03Speaker 1: Rappaport our inside are singular today. Back a little bit later,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and a lot of people are reading this trade this way.
- 8:10Speaker 1: That is, you're giving up next year's number one. You
- 8:12Speaker 1: are now all in onto a tongue of Ilo and
- 8:15Speaker 1: his play this year has certainly led all of us
- 8:18Speaker 1: to believe they have to be Mike McDaniel said the
- 8:21Speaker 1: same thing as well this week. I think for for myself,
- 8:27Speaker 1: it's proven that, you know, I can, I can be
- 8:29Speaker 1: consistent with my play in every game. UM. I'm not
- 8:32Speaker 1: necessarily focused on whatever the weather is or um, you know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: whatever the climate is there, you know, just focusing on
- 8:39Speaker 1: what I can do to um, you know, make positive
- 8:44Speaker 1: plays or help our team positively, um by handing the
- 8:48Speaker 1: ball off eighty times or throwing at eighty times whatever
- 8:50Speaker 1: that entails. Yeah, the numbers are kind of off the chart.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Look what two it did the last couple of years.
- 8:55Speaker 1: All kinds have been decision and you know, vague answers
- 8:59Speaker 1: from the podium about whether or not he's the future
- 9:01Speaker 1: this year the future. Yeah, it's him, and it's now
- 9:05Speaker 1: out and the numbers certainly prove it. Obviously, it helps
- 9:08Speaker 1: to have Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. Hi, there's Stacy
- 9:11Speaker 1: Dale's live in Chicago again. Dolphins up there to face
- 9:14Speaker 1: the Bears this week. What's the biggest change though, overall
- 9:18Speaker 1: aspect of to his game. Where are they saying? You
- 9:21Speaker 1: know what they say about Dolphins Andrew the mammal They
- 9:25Speaker 1: love to put on a show. Dolphins can actually the
- 9:28Speaker 1: mammal jump anywhere from fifteen to thirty yards in the
- 9:32Speaker 1: air when they perform. Well, guess what Too is doing.
- 9:35Speaker 1: He's thrown at fifteen to twenty five yards this season
- 9:38Speaker 1: and those receivers and Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill do help.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But it's been really impressive the differences into a Tungo
- 9:47Speaker 1: vila this season. He leads the NFL with nine yards
- 9:50Speaker 1: per past attempt. That is outstanding, and a lot of
- 9:53Speaker 1: those deep shots don't even really reflect those nine yards
- 9:57Speaker 1: per attempt. It's the passerrating he lives the NFL and passerrating,
- 10:00Speaker 1: which Andrew is really just a reflection of a whole
- 10:03Speaker 1: bunch of efficiency. When a quarterback grows the football. His
- 10:06Speaker 1: is at one thirteen, but he has doubled that passer
- 10:09Speaker 1: rating on deep shots right, that's twenty plus yards down
- 10:13Speaker 1: the field versus his first two seasons in the National
- 10:15Speaker 1: Football League. Not only that, he's got four deep touchdowns again,
- 10:20Speaker 1: twenty plus yards on those touchdowns. That is more than
- 10:24Speaker 1: his two years combined to start in the NFL. And
- 10:27Speaker 1: so I love this. Yesterday when we got to hear
- 10:30Speaker 1: from to A in his presser, he was asked, where
- 10:32Speaker 1: have you grown the most as a quarterback? And he said,
- 10:35Speaker 1: I think I've grown with the deep balls. Huh. And
- 10:37Speaker 1: he he asked the media, don't you guys think And
- 10:40Speaker 1: then he said it's a subtle job, but it was
- 10:42Speaker 1: a job because that's all he's been criticized for thus
- 10:45Speaker 1: far in his career, while it has improved significantly. And
- 10:48Speaker 1: these Bears, no, they have to get get after him
- 10:50Speaker 1: on Sunday. Not only do they have to have disguised
- 10:52Speaker 1: as safety. Eddie Jackson told me, they've got to get pressure,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but they have to get depth down the field because
- 10:58Speaker 1: of his ability to throw it and the speed of
- 11:00Speaker 1: those receivers. That'll be a big key. Eddie Jackson telling me,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I don't know if there's a better two receivers right
- 11:06Speaker 1: now in the league. Then Waddle and Hill and what
- 11:09Speaker 1: they're doing maybe Smith and Brown with the Eagles, but
- 11:13Speaker 1: they're outstanding and that speed is at a different level. Yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 1: absolutely here and we saw it last week with over
- 11:19Speaker 1: three total yards from scrimmage, Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Kill
- 11:23Speaker 1: in that victory in Detroit. Thank you Stacy Dale's in Chicago.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It is a two game NFC North road trip here
- 11:31Speaker 1: for the Dolphins. As we continue in NFL that with
- 11:34Speaker 1: sad news, the football world mourning the loss of let's
- 11:37Speaker 1: just say it like it is, quite simply, the greatest
- 11:39Speaker 1: punter in NFL history. We lost Ray Guy this morning,
- 11:43Speaker 1: the only punter in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
- 11:46Speaker 1: You know the phrase hang time legend has it? Football
- 11:49Speaker 1: came up with that term for this guy, for Ray Guy,
- 11:52Speaker 1: three times Super Bowl Champion, seven time Pro Bowler, All
- 11:55Speaker 1: Decade teen Team in the seventies, the only punter ever
- 12:00Speaker 1: selected in the first round when the Raiders took them
- 12:03Speaker 1: twenty three overall. Wait to him at a Southern miss
- 12:06Speaker 1: and seventy three. This is when he got his gold
- 12:09Speaker 1: jacket in two thousand and fourteen. We mourn Ray Guy today,
- 12:12Speaker 1: who was seventy two years old? Are you ready? Are
- 12:23Speaker 1: you ready for football in Germany? Next week Novem We
- 12:27Speaker 1: debut in Germany live on NFL Network. Tom Brady and
- 12:30Speaker 1: the Bucks, Geno Smith and the Seahawks Sunday Sunday Sunday
- 12:34Speaker 1: a week from Sunday, nine thirty a m. Eastern Time,
- 12:37Speaker 1: live from Munich, only on NFL Network and streaming on
- 12:41Speaker 1: NFL Plus. You're ready for that? Before that, Brady in
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Bucks have to beat the Rams. They've lost nine
- 12:50Speaker 1: of ten to the Rams. They are in second. The
- 12:54Speaker 1: Bucks are on the NFC South, but they're only a
- 12:55Speaker 1: game back. We're only halfway through. Yeah, I mean, we're
- 13:05Speaker 1: right and we're right in the middle of the year.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It's a um you know, here in the thick of
- 13:10Speaker 1: the fight, and you know it just has not You
- 13:13Speaker 1: just haven't played well enough to get our record to
- 13:15Speaker 1: a point where we can be super excited about where
- 13:18Speaker 1: we're at. So we have a lot of football left
- 13:21Speaker 1: and we got to do a better job. And I
- 13:22Speaker 1: think the only thing you think about is what we
- 13:25Speaker 1: work on today? Did we improve it? You know what
- 13:27Speaker 1: are we gonna work on tomorrow? How we gonna improve that?
- 13:30Speaker 1: And then prepare yourself for a game and to go
- 13:31Speaker 1: and play well. So you know, it's not um, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 1: there's a lot of football to play and we've got
- 13:39Speaker 1: to play better. That's just the reality of the situation
- 13:41Speaker 1: we're in. In the first year of here, there was
- 13:43Speaker 1: a stretch I think it was November where you guys
- 13:45Speaker 1: lost the three out of four. I think we're going well,
- 13:47Speaker 1: but you kind of sat down and got together with
- 13:48Speaker 1: Bruising environ and kind of mapped out what needs to
- 13:52Speaker 1: be changed, and you guys took off from there. Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Have you got to that point? Yeah? Yeah, I think
- 13:56Speaker 1: we talked about all the time, and I think we
- 13:57Speaker 1: have a you know, a great relationship with everybody, just
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know, talk about kind of where we're at and
- 14:02Speaker 1: what we think we need to do better. I don't
- 14:05Speaker 1: think everything kind of speaks for itself. Slow starts that
- 14:08Speaker 1: opportunities to make two point players have been third one
- 14:10Speaker 1: we have been great, and red area there long as
- 14:12Speaker 1: I haven't been great, we've been running the ball good.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I mean, it's there's a lot of reasons why, you know,
- 14:18Speaker 1: things go well and why they don't go well. So
- 14:20Speaker 1: every play feels like, you know, when you're in the
- 14:22Speaker 1: situation where and every play feels like it's critical. You know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: that's tough part. You know, you you don't feel like
- 14:28Speaker 1: there's a lot of margin of air. And and that's
- 14:29Speaker 1: why you know, it's it's a tough sport and we
- 14:31Speaker 1: gotta we gotta fight through it. There's no other way
- 14:33Speaker 1: to it. It's not like it gets easier, It's not
- 14:35Speaker 1: like it gets any less competitive. Um, you know, no
- 14:38Speaker 1: one feels sorry for us, nor should they. You know,
- 14:40Speaker 1: they're trying to win those games. We're trying to win
- 14:42Speaker 1: them and we just haven't done a good job the
- 14:44Speaker 1: last six weeks doing that when things feel critical because
- 14:49Speaker 1: they start to mount. So for example, like the short
- 14:51Speaker 1: yardage plays right, Like, if it's going well, you don't
- 14:54Speaker 1: think as much about it, I would assume. So when
- 14:56Speaker 1: you get in situations like that where that pressure mounts
- 14:58Speaker 1: because it hasn't been the results you want, I guess
- 15:00Speaker 1: what what can you do to alleviate a normal third
- 15:05Speaker 1: and one feeling like that this is like a huge ordeal?
- 15:08Speaker 1: And then I know we talked last week about you know,
- 15:10Speaker 1: us doing a good job execute and that's what that's
- 15:12Speaker 1: what it comes down to. Our great players need to
- 15:14Speaker 1: go out and execute well. The guys that are in
- 15:16Speaker 1: there their first year or two, you know, we're shot
- 15:18Speaker 1: or nick or you know, Hainzi cade Co. You know,
- 15:24Speaker 1: it's hard to put too much on those guys. That's
- 15:26Speaker 1: the reality. They're getting used to playing. They haven't played
- 15:29Speaker 1: a lot of football. So the guys that have played
- 15:30Speaker 1: at a lot of football, we gotta do a better job.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And that's part of what leadership is all about. And
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's pushing people in practice, and it's trying to get
- 15:37Speaker 1: a bigger sense of urgency. Um. You know, when you're
- 15:41Speaker 1: wheneverything's going well, you know, it's things things, it feels
- 15:47Speaker 1: really good and easy, and when they don't go well,
- 15:49Speaker 1: it feels really hard and it feels like a challenge.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So I think the point is you either back down
- 15:53Speaker 1: to the challenge or you step up to the challenge.
- 15:56Speaker 1: And the fact that we're in this situation. You know,
- 15:59Speaker 1: hopefully you can look at at the end of the
- 16:00Speaker 1: year when all the games that played down, you realize,
- 16:02Speaker 1: all right, we dug really deep. We learned a lot
- 16:04Speaker 1: about ourselves, and we try to figure these things out
- 16:06Speaker 1: and we battled through them, you know, because it doesn't
- 16:08Speaker 1: always go the way that you want. It's the reality
- 16:09Speaker 1: of UM the sports. So just keep fighting as hard
- 16:13Speaker 1: as you can. You you know, you believe in your teammates,
- 16:16Speaker 1: you communicate UM, you try to make it better, and
- 16:19Speaker 1: that's what you work at every day. Tom Brady on
- 16:22Speaker 1: the podium moments ago. Brian Baldinger, Mark Ross back with
- 16:25Speaker 1: me here. The Ramps have had the bucks number in Tampa,
- 16:28Speaker 1: especially here. They've won their last five that includes the
- 16:31Speaker 1: playoff game last year in the divisional round. Mark. Neither
- 16:34Speaker 1: of these teams is out of it here. There are
- 16:36Speaker 1: three win teams, but no one's running away. All due
- 16:39Speaker 1: respect to the Seahawks more than them. At a second
- 16:41Speaker 1: with either division kind of feels like a must win.
- 16:45Speaker 1: You have faith in either of these teams, well, begrudgingly yes.
- 16:50Speaker 1: So let's go with history here with Tom Brady, and
- 16:54Speaker 1: it's never lost four games in a row, three game
- 16:56Speaker 1: losing streak right now, it's never lost four So we'll
- 16:59Speaker 1: go with the history that he has to bounce back.
- 17:01Speaker 1: And also, there are two games under five hundred tom
- 17:03Speaker 1: Brady is and he's never been three games and five
- 17:05Speaker 1: that was even as a starter at Michigan. So let's
- 17:08Speaker 1: just go with history that they'll rebound, and Tom Brady
- 17:11Speaker 1: talked about getting better and practicing, and of course teams
- 17:14Speaker 1: say that when they're struggling, but a lot of teams
- 17:16Speaker 1: just don't have the talent to get better to do that.
- 17:19Speaker 1: The Bucks have the talent. They've got Brady, they've got Evans,
- 17:22Speaker 1: they've got God when they've got four nets, so they
- 17:24Speaker 1: have the talent to get better. It just seems as
- 17:26Speaker 1: if they have to get on the same page as
- 17:28Speaker 1: we saw it last week with a lot of mishumunication
- 17:31Speaker 1: between Brady and Evans a lot of time, so get
- 17:34Speaker 1: on the same page. And also they've got to do
- 17:37Speaker 1: a better job running the ball. There last in the
- 17:39Speaker 1: league with only sixty one yards per game, the only
- 17:41Speaker 1: average three yards per carrier they're running back. So it
- 17:45Speaker 1: all starts there with the offensive line has to block
- 17:47Speaker 1: better and for net and the run game has to
- 17:49Speaker 1: get going to create some sort of semblance of balance
- 17:52Speaker 1: for this Buck's offense which will let Brady thrive with
- 17:55Speaker 1: those with those all pro receivers that he has. There
- 17:58Speaker 1: So a lot to be worked out there, as Brady
- 18:00Speaker 1: talked about, but I have faith that the Bucks have
- 18:02Speaker 1: the talent ball, the to pull it together. And we've
- 18:05Speaker 1: seen Brady worked magic before. Let's see him do it again. Well,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I don't believe they're gonna get balanced, Mark, I mean
- 18:11Speaker 1: they were unbalanced last year. They just threw themselves deep
- 18:15Speaker 1: into the playoffs. And so you know Brady's talked about,
- 18:18Speaker 1: you know, all the young guys that he's that he's
- 18:20Speaker 1: that they got to count on and they're just learning
- 18:22Speaker 1: the game. I think you gotta go to the veterans.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I mean, both these teams have to depend on the stars.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And so one of those matchups is Mike Evans against
- 18:30Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey. I mean, Mike Evins caught sixteen passes and
- 18:33Speaker 1: two games against the Rams last year. But he's the
- 18:36Speaker 1: go to guy if you want to convert on third
- 18:39Speaker 1: and one, if you want to convert in the red
- 18:40Speaker 1: zone and the areas that Tom Brady just talked about,
- 18:43Speaker 1: what's our problem, Mary's you gotta go to your go
- 18:45Speaker 1: to guy, and that's Mike Evans. And so Jayalen Ramsey
- 18:48Speaker 1: is out there. We saw him get beat in the
- 18:49Speaker 1: playoff game. Got uh the Bucks back into that game.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I think that's gonna be the game within the game
- 18:55Speaker 1: tonight is Evans and Brady against Ramsey and the defense.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I know Jalen once that matchup. We don't know how
- 19:02Speaker 1: often and how frequently we're gonna see it, but it's
- 19:04Speaker 1: something I'm to be watching for tonight because I think
- 19:07Speaker 1: it's gonna tip the scales and who wins this game.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Ramsey allowed two touchdowns in the opener against the Bills,
- 19:12Speaker 1: the lost of Buffalo here at so far back week
- 19:15Speaker 1: number one. He has allowed since then only one touchdown
- 19:18Speaker 1: in six games. Obviously dropped the pick last week, but
- 19:21Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey has not been the Rams biggest issues. Certainly
- 19:25Speaker 1: hope to use him against Mike Evans effectively on Sunday.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Thank you Baldy and thank you Mark Ross. Coming up next.
- 19:31Speaker 1: A lot of awards for the Bills as well. After
- 19:34Speaker 1: they beat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Now they try
- 19:36Speaker 1: to beat the Jets. The man in the middle there,
- 19:39Speaker 1: Tim Settle set to join us live in Buffalo straight ahead.
- 19:49Speaker 1: We talked so much about Josh Allen. Let's give some
- 19:52Speaker 1: love to this guy, and let's give some love to
- 19:54Speaker 1: the Buffalo defense allowing only fourteen points a game and
- 19:57Speaker 1: did the job last week on Aaron Rodgers, partly because
- 20:00Speaker 1: Tim Settle got his first sack at a couple of
- 20:03Speaker 1: years on the very first play of the game, he
- 20:06Speaker 1: sacked Aaron Rodgers and that set the tone. And he's
- 20:08Speaker 1: live with us now in Buffalo ahead of their game
- 20:11Speaker 1: with the Jets. Great to have you, Tim, How are
- 20:13Speaker 1: you good? Thank you for having so if memory serves
- 20:17Speaker 1: here till I think your very first career sack was
- 20:19Speaker 1: against Tom Brady and then you come back and you
- 20:23Speaker 1: get Aaron Rodgers. Those are two pretty good skins for
- 20:28Speaker 1: the wall there. Man. Yeah, yeah, My first one was
- 20:34Speaker 1: Tom when I was in Washington, I remember. Was my
- 20:37Speaker 1: second is my second year, and then uh, last week
- 20:41Speaker 1: was Aaron. You know, uh this beginning after. I'm happy
- 20:45Speaker 1: I was able to get him. You know, it's part
- 20:47Speaker 1: of it, you know, once in the next and it's
- 20:50Speaker 1: set the tone. And we'll get to the Jets and
- 20:52Speaker 1: what that game means for your team coming up in
- 20:54Speaker 1: a second. But the celebration, Tim, you're all about the penguin, right,
- 20:58Speaker 1: it's gone back. I think all the way to high
- 21:00Speaker 1: school you celebrate with the penguin. Um. Jalen Waddle kind
- 21:03Speaker 1: of has a similar set of ration now has he
- 21:06Speaker 1: been has he been stealing your act? Tim? Yeah, for sure,
- 21:12Speaker 1: sure you can look. You can look at their receipts.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I've been doing it for a long time. You know
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'm not tripping. You know his last name, it kind
- 21:18Speaker 1: of goes with it. But now I've been doing it.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I've been doing it first. It is what it is.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Who do you think doesn't better? Oh? Come on, man,
- 21:26Speaker 1: he looked still. But Tim, you gotta have more opportunities, right,
- 21:34Speaker 1: I mean Jalen waddles getting the end zone almost every week,
- 21:36Speaker 1: sometimes two times a week like last week. How are
- 21:39Speaker 1: we going to get two more sacks? Man? This gotta stay. Uh,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you know you never know when your player is. You know,
- 21:44Speaker 1: I just gotta stay, keep rushing and keep keep getting
- 21:47Speaker 1: out there. You know they come a bunch of souh.
- 21:50Speaker 1: We're on a good really high high energy, high high
- 21:53Speaker 1: end defense. You know they come in bunchets. You know,
- 21:56Speaker 1: you just gotta don't one of leven friends. Just keep
- 21:58Speaker 1: getting out there. They're gonna day far right into your loft. Hey, Tim,
- 22:01Speaker 1: on a personal level here, when you left Washington, you
- 22:03Speaker 1: went to Buffalo. You sat at the post to him
- 22:05Speaker 1: there with your son, and you said you wanted to
- 22:06Speaker 1: go to a winner. Um, how different is it there?
- 22:09Speaker 1: And what has it been like to work with guys
- 22:12Speaker 1: like von Miller, a consummate pro every week, a guy
- 22:15Speaker 1: who's gonna end up in Canton one day. Yeah. At first,
- 22:19Speaker 1: I enjoyed my time in Washington, you know. Uh, I
- 22:21Speaker 1: felt like the top of change, the scenery. You know,
- 22:24Speaker 1: I've definitely seen they had a dynamic quarterback here, you know. Uh,
- 22:29Speaker 1: I've seen that they had a defense that just needed
- 22:31Speaker 1: a few more pieces, and you know they were they
- 22:33Speaker 1: were on it early. So uh, this just talking with
- 22:36Speaker 1: my my family and my team, you know, it was
- 22:38Speaker 1: easy to make this decision, and you know, I just
- 22:40Speaker 1: wanted to come in here and be a part of
- 22:42Speaker 1: what they got going, you know. Uh, you know, every
- 22:45Speaker 1: there's a lot of emphasis here on what we need
- 22:47Speaker 1: to do or what we want to do. And you know,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I love that, you know, Uh, I feel like that,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you know, I can help the team get a tour
- 22:53Speaker 1: they need to get to. And I mentioned Josh Allen.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Obviously he's your leader here. He's the guy everyone rallies around.
- 22:58Speaker 1: He's the guy that played so well this past Sunday,
- 23:01Speaker 1: plays well every week. Loves the contact, loves running the football,
- 23:04Speaker 1: and loves the celebrations. He's got the handshakes with everyone
- 23:07Speaker 1: on the offensive side, and you guys help him out
- 23:10Speaker 1: with the celebrations as well. Like what's this whole dirty
- 23:13Speaker 1: dancing thing where they're holding them up in the air?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Like what? What? Like? What's going on with that? I
- 23:19Speaker 1: don't know it's talking about? I don't know. You see,
- 23:22Speaker 1: that's that's something that big big I've seen that. I've
- 23:26Speaker 1: seen it a couple of times this year. But you
- 23:28Speaker 1: know you won't catch me going that. I'll make sure
- 23:31Speaker 1: Josh is protecting it all the time. That looks like safe.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's an old movie thing, evidently from
- 23:38Speaker 1: dirty dancing. What kind of challenge do you guys have
- 23:42Speaker 1: heading into met life this week? Tim? Try to get
- 23:45Speaker 1: your first division win against the Jets. Um. You know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: we we know that we got a you know, a
- 23:51Speaker 1: hot Jets team. You know that your defense is playing outstanding.
- 23:54Speaker 1: You know they've been able to get uh rush the ball.
- 23:57Speaker 1: You know the last three game they've been able to
- 23:58Speaker 1: uh get a hundred plus rushing yards the game, and
- 24:02Speaker 1: you know, we know that they're gonna play hard. You know, Uh,
- 24:04Speaker 1: listen to be game, and we know that we're gonna
- 24:07Speaker 1: get their best down. And our thing is just keep
- 24:10Speaker 1: playing what we've been doing, keep going we've been doing,
- 24:12Speaker 1: getting after uh, stopping our run, getting after this young quarterback.
- 24:17Speaker 1: You know this, this this, keeping it poised, keeping the game,
- 24:20Speaker 1: players simple, and just this playing ball. Had a sack
- 24:23Speaker 1: last week, also got a hand on the pass and
- 24:25Speaker 1: ended up in a Matt Mulatto interception. Huge hand in
- 24:28Speaker 1: the Bills beating the Packers. Trying to do the same
- 24:31Speaker 1: this week against the Jets. With the Jugs machine to
- 24:34Speaker 1: the background, Tim Settle, it's your turn on the machine man,
- 24:36Speaker 1: thanks for joining us. Good luck this week. Thank you
- 24:38Speaker 1: so much for having you got a Tim Settle there
- 24:40Speaker 1: live in the Buffalo ahead of their game coming up
- 24:42Speaker 1: with the Jets. They beat the Packers. Now, what's next
- 24:46Speaker 1: for the Green Bay Packers after they didn't make a
- 24:48Speaker 1: trade at the deadline and they gotta go to Detroit?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Packers reports straight ahead. Listen, Like with the Bucks, like
- 24:57Speaker 1: with the Ramps, it is not over for the Green
- 24:59Speaker 1: Bay Packers. It is not all doom and gloom. Yes
- 25:02Speaker 1: they are three and five, and yes the Vike things
- 25:05Speaker 1: are running away with the division at six and one,
- 25:07Speaker 1: but a wild card is still a very real possibility.
- 25:10Speaker 1: But they have to win now. When we start expecting
- 25:16Speaker 1: to win and not hoping to win, things can change
- 25:19Speaker 1: a little bit. It just takes one game, could be
- 25:21Speaker 1: one quarter, one play that can alter the trajectory of
- 25:25Speaker 1: a of a team, you know, both possibly and negatively,
- 25:28Speaker 1: and hopefully we make uh that play, that quarter, that half,
- 25:33Speaker 1: whatever it's going to be this week to put us
- 25:35Speaker 1: in the right direction. This week, they are facing the
- 25:38Speaker 1: Detroit Lions. They actually lost to the Lions Week eighteen,
- 25:41Speaker 1: a year ago, so they are back in Detroit. Stacy
- 25:44Speaker 1: Dale's Mark Ross with me. Stacey thought it was interesting
- 25:47Speaker 1: what what Matt Laflor said today. They said, Hey, you're
- 25:49Speaker 1: you're facing the worst defense and football. It's like, oh,
- 25:51Speaker 1: we're not scoring points against anybody, so it's not gonna
- 25:53Speaker 1: be easy. Yeah, pretty candid. They better score some points.
- 25:57Speaker 1: So guess what the Detroit Lions at home? You guys,
- 26:00Speaker 1: they maybe one in six, but they average thirty six
- 26:03Speaker 1: points per game at home. And when Aaron Rodgers was
- 26:05Speaker 1: asked yesterday, are you guys ready for a shootout against
- 26:08Speaker 1: the Lions, His response was, quote, we'd better be. The
- 26:11Speaker 1: problem is is they're not healthy. The good news today
- 26:14Speaker 1: on the practice fields that Elton Jakins with that foot
- 26:16Speaker 1: injury is back out there. So too our Al Lazard
- 26:20Speaker 1: wide receiver with the shoulder injury, Christian Watson and the
- 26:22Speaker 1: concussion protocol, but he's practicing. David baktr E missing his
- 26:26Speaker 1: second straight day. Aaron Rodgers said it, Mark and Andrew,
- 26:30Speaker 1: well yesterday, we haven't been healthy. We need our entire
- 26:33Speaker 1: roster to be able to play. They've had so many
- 26:35Speaker 1: shakeups a receiver, They've had so many shakeups with this
- 26:38Speaker 1: offensive line, and so for Rogers, they have to get healthy.
- 26:42Speaker 1: They need the roster on the field, and then they
- 26:44Speaker 1: have to be able to push the ball down the field.
- 26:46Speaker 1: It's one thing, Mark to have a j. Dillon and
- 26:48Speaker 1: Aaron Jones involved. It's another thing to have chemistry and
- 26:51Speaker 1: symmetry with those receivers. The offensive line starts there, and
- 26:55Speaker 1: then you've got to have those guys back and healthy
- 26:58Speaker 1: in order to push the ball down the field, which
- 27:00Speaker 1: is what Aaron Rodgers does best. Yeah, definitely, Stacy and
- 27:04Speaker 1: they have to be healthy, be because when I look
- 27:06Speaker 1: at Green Bay there's just not a whole ton of
- 27:08Speaker 1: talent or a lot of depth with their team on
- 27:10Speaker 1: the offense. And usually Aaron Rodgers could mass mask that,
- 27:14Speaker 1: make everybody better, get everybody involved. But again, he's not
- 27:18Speaker 1: the same Aaron Rodgers as he once was, where he
- 27:20Speaker 1: can be magical and make everything around him great. So
- 27:24Speaker 1: that's what the concern. And then you talk about the
- 27:26Speaker 1: confusion a lot of guys in and out which caused
- 27:28Speaker 1: them to not to be on the same page. So
- 27:31Speaker 1: this gotta be this has to be the game for them.
- 27:33Speaker 1: This has to be to get right against the Detroit
- 27:35Speaker 1: team that is last in the league in yards giving
- 27:37Speaker 1: up and last in the league and points giving up.
- 27:39Speaker 1: So they have to go in there. And you mentioned
- 27:42Speaker 1: the run game. They actually ran the ball last week
- 27:44Speaker 1: against the Bills. Now was when they were down and
- 27:46Speaker 1: they were running it and Bills were just giving up
- 27:48Speaker 1: chunk plays because of that. So let's see if they
- 27:51Speaker 1: can sustain that run game with their two best players
- 27:54Speaker 1: who I think on the offense outside of Rodgers, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: then take those shots down the field. But again, who's
- 27:58Speaker 1: gonna who are you gonna hit down the field? What
- 28:00Speaker 1: receiver they're really scares defenses that can make plays. So
- 28:04Speaker 1: a lot of the questions that have to have to
- 28:05Speaker 1: be answered. And Matt Lafort wasn't quite channeling his Intervince
- 28:09Speaker 1: Lombardi with that quote there and exactly and listen to
- 28:13Speaker 1: offenses change, players evolve and vice versa. But Aaron Rodgers
- 28:17Speaker 1: has not thrown for three yards nor three touchdowns in
- 28:21Speaker 1: any game the entire year. That's never happened through eight
- 28:24Speaker 1: tries to change that, tries to get a win this
- 28:26Speaker 1: week in Detroit. Thank you, Stacy, thank you. Mark. Coming up,
- 28:29Speaker 1: we have time for one more thing before we go
- 28:33Speaker 1: about Gino again, all right, t r T one one
- 28:42Speaker 1: more thing before we go. Jim Trotter's going first. Yeah,
- 28:45Speaker 1: you know, Andrew. I want to start by sending my
- 28:47Speaker 1: condolences to the family of Ray Guy as well as
- 28:50Speaker 1: Raider Nation. Like I grew up in the Bay Area,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I got to see a lot of Raider games. Here's
- 28:55Speaker 1: how special Ray Guy was. When the Punning team came out.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Typically you would go and get something to need or
- 29:01Speaker 1: go and get, you know, take a bathroom break. But
- 29:03Speaker 1: you never did that with Ray because you always knew
- 29:06Speaker 1: you might see something special and he usually delivered. So
- 29:09Speaker 1: from me. He was one of those guys that was
- 29:11Speaker 1: a special player, particularly in later nation, and so I said, Mike,
- 29:14Speaker 1: don't to hit his family and absolutely quite simply the
- 29:18Speaker 1: greatest punter we ever saw, Ian Rappaport. One more thing,
- 29:23Speaker 1: The NFL has been handing out monthly awards for rookie
- 29:26Speaker 1: since the first time ever. Uh, there are actually three
- 29:31Speaker 1: monthly awards on the same team the first time ever.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Geno Smith Offensive Player of the Month, two Rookies of
- 29:38Speaker 1: the Month, Kenneth Walker and Tarik Woollen. Seahawks are kind
- 29:42Speaker 1: of loaded for the future. That's a lot of hardware, alright,
- 29:45Speaker 1: congratulations to those Seahawks. One more thing, James Palmer, well,
- 29:51Speaker 1: and I think we're all well aware that this game
- 29:53Speaker 1: in Houston is gonna have a lot of eyeballs between
- 29:55Speaker 1: these two fan bases on what's happening on the field
- 29:57Speaker 1: behind me as well as what's happening in Game five
- 29:59Speaker 1: between the Phillies and the Astros and the Texans know that.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So over fifty of the TVs here at NARG Stadium
- 30:06Speaker 1: are gonna have Game five on the video boards, are
- 30:08Speaker 1: gonna have Game five updates on them as well to
- 30:11Speaker 1: try to keep these fans in this stadium up to
- 30:13Speaker 1: date on that World Series Game five. Okay, we've actually
- 30:16Speaker 1: seen this before. It happened in twenty eleven, The Rangers
- 30:18Speaker 1: of the Cardinals, the Cowboys, and the St. Louis Rams.
- 30:21Speaker 1: My one more thing if you haven't figured it out yet,
- 30:24Speaker 1: I didn't win the lottery, so I will see you
- 30:30Speaker 1: guys on Sunday. Bye bye. NFL Now is a production
