- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Hi, everybody.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: How you doing?
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Hello.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: And and we got our guy representing Garden State of New Jersey.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: You know, Mr.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: New Jersey, I like to call him.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: DJ Walla.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the podcast, fam.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the podcast.
- 1:12SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 1:12SPEAKER_05: Appreciate it.
- 1:14SPEAKER_05: What up, Walla?
- 1:16SPEAKER_05: Hi y'all.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: I ain't see y'all in the middle.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: So so what what what part of Jersey are you actually from?
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Because Jersey's dumb big for no reason.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: I'm from Newark, New Jersey.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Briggs, huh?
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And and and and out of Jersey, what's that called?
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: That's like mid-Jersey.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: I'm slow.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Is that mid?
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Is that south?
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: It's North Jersey.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: North Jersey?
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Which means you get to the city in 30 minutes or less.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: You can get to the city less than that if you if you ain't got no traffic.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: If it's traffic, two hours.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: No traffic in 15 minutes.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: DJ Wildlout story.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: So when was it that Wildlout decided this is what I'm gonna do?
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Because I know not only you make records, you DJ, you're a hell of a promoter.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Like which came first?
- 1:56SPEAKER_06: Um DJing came first.
- 1:58SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:58SPEAKER_06: And um back back then, you know, if if you wasn't like a top tier DJ, you ain't get booked like that.
- 2:05SPEAKER_06: You know, the top tiers had all the booking.
- 2:07SPEAKER_06: So if you wanted to get booked, you had to throw your own parties.
- 2:10SPEAKER_06: So I wasn't waiting to get booked.
- 2:11SPEAKER_06: I said, yo, let's just throw our own parties.
- 2:12SPEAKER_06: So we used to throw our own parties.
- 2:14SPEAKER_06: We got to a point where we started booking the top DJs.
- 2:17SPEAKER_06: I started bringing enough and Caz and Camelo and we started doing parties together.
- 2:21SPEAKER_06: Hold up, hold up.
- 2:22SPEAKER_06: What age were you when you started those parties?
- 2:24SPEAKER_06: Like what was yeah, I started throwing my own parties at like 16, 17.
- 2:28SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 2:28SPEAKER_06: By the time I got to you guys, I probably was like almost 20.
- 2:30SPEAKER_06: Got it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Because I know you had the college shit on super smash.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Super like yo, super smash.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Like I remember the first time I went to one of you, and while I was college party, I was like, this shit is out of control.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: And it was like not one, not two, it was like on a regular basis, you know what I mean?
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Which is which is crazy.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: And I understood the whole why you had heavy hit equalities and all that.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: Oh, so you would book the DJs to do your parties as well, correct?
- 2:53SPEAKER_04: You say you book enough and yo, bro, Camillo he flexed on us one year.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: One year he booked me, flex, and Mr.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: C at the same time.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, yeah, but we get to the party, it's a z it's a zoo.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, yo, this guy don't need us for nothing.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: He's just he's just flexing on us.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: He wants to show us that what he's doing is fire.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Now, is this before hot ninety-seven or before radio?
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Way before.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: He wasn't on radio yet.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: Way before you smoke die wallah I see what he was doing.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: What are we doing?
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Put me on.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Now, hold on.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Now, even now, the thing is, here's the thing.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Even back then, right?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Like, so the cool thing about Jersey and about where Walla broke out from, it was weird because as far as the tri-state, we always had this thing in our head.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Like, every everywhere you go is gonna be the same vibe and the same music.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: But the only separator a little bit was Jersey, because that Jersey club music had its own way, right?
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: So, like honestly, you were one of the first people that didn't really help elevate that music, right?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Like, I I don't know, in my eyes, I don't I I might be wrong.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: You could correct me at this point or not, right?
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: So you uh with bringing, you know, people like Enough and uh uh Mr.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: C and Flex and myself and whoever else to Jersey, that would actually kind of be our first time seeing this because we all we all saw the old Jersey Club, like when it was like DJ Pine, all these guys had the club, but then the thing you guys were doing was completely different.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It was kind of derivative of that and hip hop.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: But can you tell us a little bit about how that whole thing started?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Because now Jersey Club is the biggest thing.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Like on some of the biggest records, is Jersey Club.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Like a lot of these drill records are Jersey Club, really.
- 4:37SPEAKER_04: So like there was like a video I seen one time at those parties that you talk about, Wallow doing at the halls.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: They weren't clubs, they were halls, you know.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: So that held a few hundred, maybe a thousand people, and and hit it to the beat, hit it to the beat, hit it to the beat.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: I remember listening, and it was on Wallace, and what the fuck is that?
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: And all I see is everybody grinding, grinding.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Right, and you know, it was a thing where where he would be like, you know, we come and we'd play, we kill it.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: He'd be like, yo, watch this.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and everybody does it this.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And we're like, what?
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: But anyway, can you think of like how did that like develop?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: How did that, you know, early, how did the early um like the early aspects of Jersey Club come about?
- 5:21SPEAKER_06: So look, that's a whole topic in his own because they're doing Jersey Club documentaries because the dudes that originated that sound feel like they didn't get their just due.
- 5:28SPEAKER_06: So they're trying to make sure they put the imprint on the noun before it gets too big, which it might be a little bit too late, but better late than never.
- 5:34SPEAKER_06: It's too late.
- 5:35SPEAKER_06: Better late than never.
- 5:36SPEAKER_06: They just want to know who started it, like the founders.
- 5:38SPEAKER_06: So like it was something that we always listen to in Jersey.
- 5:41SPEAKER_06: Like my parents listened to Club, but like you said, it was a different derivative of it.
- 5:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was more of the percolator or or fucking ring dogs fired up, and we came with a new sound.
- 5:49SPEAKER_06: And at first they were calling it like Brick City Club because nobody had a name for it.
- 5:54SPEAKER_06: And then they say, Yo, y'all stole Baltimore Club.
- 5:56SPEAKER_06: And it's like, no, it's a little different.
- 5:58SPEAKER_04: So you know from Jersey Club to Jersey Club.
- 6:01SPEAKER_04: Coming coming from Queens from New York, to me, at one point, Baltimore and Jersey to me was the same shit.
- 6:07SPEAKER_04: Like I wouldn't really distinguish the difference.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: But later on, when I started to really like do my homework and the frosty records would come and all that, I was like, these guys is just redoing every damn song to Jersey.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Like everything.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: So I mean, like, I would pick and choose what was hot for me and then play it.
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: But yeah, Yaga had a whole nother wave.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: While I at his party, that I didn't know nothing about this.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: I was completely blind to it.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: And it's true, what caster, he really be like, yo, peep game, watch what the fuck about to happen.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, these motherfuckers are mind dancing in Brig City, yo.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Like, but it was so much fun.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: And fuck yeah, we went right across that bridge.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: We got this new shit.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: We got this new shit, and we thought we found like we we thought we found we was Christopher Columbus.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: We thought we found something, but it it took me somewhere, and I came from, I remember I told Wile, I was like, yo, every fucking time you have a holiday party, ring my number, dog.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: And like and we had a run.
- 7:04SPEAKER_05: Me and El Bush had a nice run.
- 7:06SPEAKER_05: RIP the club of this, we had a nice run.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: Man, man, like Saviour, New Jersey, and Deco.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: And Deco, both two spots, man.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: Rest in peace, Costa.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: Like again, those two spots for me, it was like, I don't know, it was that Jersey imprint.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: Like, I'll never forget those things.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Anything else was whack.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Everything else was whack.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I don't care where it was, who was there, anything outside the what is it?
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: They used to call them like the 35 um North Boys or something like that, right?
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Like Route 35 boys or whatever.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: But voila, did you did you um, because obviously your party's uh is not bringing what Jersey's used to stinging in the club.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Did they they fuck with you because you was bringing brown and black crowd and it was in a big number on top of that?
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Like, howdy, howdy, was it difficult getting into these rooms?
- 7:53SPEAKER_06: Um, like you know, Abyss and Deco, you had to convince them.
- 7:57SPEAKER_06: You know, Coaster and Dimitri, they they're about money, that's it.
- 8:00SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 8:01SPEAKER_06: What color you are, if is it gonna generate revenue?
- 8:03SPEAKER_06: So I had to prove to them that I could generate revenue.
- 8:06SPEAKER_06: I was dealing with a younger crowd, you know, they were high school and college, so they didn't buy VIPs, they didn't buy bottles.
- 8:11SPEAKER_06: So Costa might say, all right, you might pack a club out, but are they gonna spend money?
- 8:15SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 8:16SPEAKER_06: Prove that we can they can spend money.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: Yo, for me, I tell this story all the time, right?
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Walla, his party was something special, not because he had kids or whatever, right?
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: Um, I brought this up into attention, Cole.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: I remember before going to his party, prior, like the old Newark, New Jersey, and going to the oranges in the east, it was always Gang Bang Central.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: I swear to God.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Every time I go there, there'd be a shootout, there'd be some sort of murder, death kill, something.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: And then that summer, he invited me to was it Tammy Hall?
- 8:50SPEAKER_06: It might have been Terrace Ballroom.
- 8:51SPEAKER_06: No, no, it wasn't Terrace Ballroom.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Because Terrace Ballroom what was it the Robert Tree, Terrence Ballroom?
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: It was one of them.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: But both are the parties that I was afraid of because the Robert Tree Hotel, Terrace Ballrooms, they always got shot up.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: Always.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: And I remember getting lost somewhere in in New in New New Jersey, and this is pre-GPS, pre-any of that.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: You make the wrong turn, it's dark as fuck.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: You're like, yo, where the fuck am I at?
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: You felt like you was in the episode of The Wire.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: I swear to God, on everything.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: On the flip of that, anybody that I met through while I was a promoter or just in the round the waivers, like, yo, they would come up to them be like, yo, you wild this man, bet.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Here, bet.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: And I started getting away.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, no.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Also, just the dopes.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: This is the crazy part.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: This is the beautiful part.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: The beautiful part is this.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Because of all the history I just told you, gangbanger, shootout, made deaf kick.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: So Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, they always had, you know, when you look at the reports like you're watching like a dateline or a nightline at whatever.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: This summer, we had over 300 and something something deaths, you know, whatever, right?
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Now, Pennsylvania always had a higher number than Jersey and New York because it was just bigger for some reason, whatever.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: But that summer, it was almost like neck and neck, right?
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: I go to Wallace Party, ain't there more beautiful black and brown kids dancing their asses off and partying?
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: No fights.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: Yo, but it's not one fight, not one fight, not even a push, nothing.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: They dancing their asses off, they sweating, and they're moving their body.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: To me, I thought that was a magic.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Your mom was even in there.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: She was selling soldiers and waters in the front of the club.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: So if your mom's there, you made it just like a family business from the jump.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: That's crazy.
- 10:38SPEAKER_05: My mom there had my uncle working there, so we always there.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: To me, that's the magic and the beauty that no one talks about.
- 10:45SPEAKER_04: Now, now this is this is before Walla becoming a heavy hitter.
- 10:49SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: So tell me, let's we need to ask, you know, we ask everybody, how did you become a heavy hitter?
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: Was that your goal?
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: Did you have to, you know, what was the process?
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: Did you have to work to get down?
- 11:01SPEAKER_04: Like, were you on enough radar?
- 11:03SPEAKER_06: Like, talk to us.
- 11:04SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 11:05SPEAKER_06: I didn't even I didn't even know if that was a reality, to be honest.
- 11:08SPEAKER_06: I feel I thought, like, you know, being a kid from Jersey that I'm like, yo, I'm never gonna be a heavy hitter.
- 11:12SPEAKER_06: I'm probably never gonna make it to radio.
- 11:14SPEAKER_06: Let's just let's just stand next to these guys for as long as possible, and maybe something might happen.
- 11:19SPEAKER_06: But I think I was clicking on all cylinders because one, I was getting all my flyers printed from Ramo.
- 11:24SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 11:25SPEAKER_06: I was on Rainbow Radio Heavy.
- 11:29SPEAKER_06: I was on Ramo's radar heavy because he's like, yo, who's this kid getting 20,000 flyers every week, every month?
- 11:35SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 11:35SPEAKER_06: What is he doing?
- 11:36SPEAKER_06: So Ramo and Lonnie B pulled up to one of my parties, just pulled up.
- 11:39SPEAKER_06: And he's like, yo, this is all you?
- 11:41SPEAKER_06: I said, yeah.
- 11:42SPEAKER_06: Just like this is your party.
- 11:43SPEAKER_06: I said, yeah.
- 11:44SPEAKER_06: So you're gonna DJ and throw the party.
- 11:46SPEAKER_06: I said, it's the only way to make it work.
- 11:47SPEAKER_06: He said, I was wondering how you was getting rid of 20,000 flyers every month.
- 11:51SPEAKER_06: He's like, yo, you ever thought about becoming a heavy hitter?
- 11:54SPEAKER_06: I said, not really, but hell yeah.
- 11:56SPEAKER_06: Is it doobo?
- 11:58SPEAKER_06: He said, I'm gonna see what's up.
- 11:59SPEAKER_06: But meanwhile, I was still booking all y'all guys anyway.
- 12:02SPEAKER_06: So I guess like it was it was working, everything worked perfectly at the same time.
- 12:05SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 12:06SPEAKER_04: So that's when you got on our radar, and then you know, and I guess we all voted in for you.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: And and I mean, I I already got to learn from you too, and I'm sure enough already knew.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: So, you know.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Now we knew, bro.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: We know you is the shit.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: We knew it, bro.
- 12:18SPEAKER_05: But if you left if you like more telling, we'll say that Mr.
- 12:20SPEAKER_05: C is trying to grab me to become a big dog person.
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:24SPEAKER_05: That's facts.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, here we go.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: All right, here it goes.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: So here Cold, hold on, hold on.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: E, I need you to back up for a second because I from the mic, because I want this story clear.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: All right, this is how it went down.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: Rest in peace, Mr.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: C.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: C was trying to be slick, and he because you know, C C was the mission coordinator at the radio station, and he would like, you know, book the DJ to do like the summer mixed weekends and the and the you know the holiday weekends, whatever, that kind of stuff.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: And he was like, Look, E, there's this dope DJ from Jersey.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: His name is DJ OK.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: He's a Haitian DJ.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: He was like, I think you should sign him to Heavyheads, dude.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: That'd be dope.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: And then he goes, I'm gonna probably pick up Walla.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: I think I like Walla.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: So I was like, So I'm like, all right, whatever.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: But he didn't he didn't know that Rainbow already was in pocket with you, and that we were already going to your a lot of your functions.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: So I was I was peeping Mr.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: C's game, and I was like, Yeah, uh-huh.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: I know what you're trying.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: Did you know, did you know DJ?
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, he's not hitting the Brooklyn switch up.
- 13:23SPEAKER_06: He did.
- 13:24SPEAKER_06: That's what he tried to do.
- 13:25SPEAKER_06: Voila, did you know who that was?
- 13:26SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 13:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know.
- 13:27SPEAKER_06: Okay, man, okay, look alike.
- 13:29SPEAKER_06: So he probably was hitting him with the Brooklyn switch up.
- 13:31SPEAKER_06: No, okay, too.
- 13:31SPEAKER_06: Okay, okay, he's dope.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, shout out to K, bro.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: He's a dope DJ too.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: Well, well, I'm gonna drop a little, a little something back in the days when C was arrested, PC.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: I miss him so much.
- 13:41SPEAKER_04: You know, we were how did I used to, you know, Enough used to be on the radio.
- 13:44SPEAKER_04: I used to jump on right after Enough, and then Mr.
- 13:46SPEAKER_04: C would jump on.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: One day he comes up to me and goes, you know, you should have been down with the people, you should have been one of us.
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Yeah, okay, all right.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: You know, anyway, back to voila.
- 14:02SPEAKER_03: So voila.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: From jump or it just happened.
- 14:11SPEAKER_06: Well, we were making records already, but we were doing it just for us.
- 14:14SPEAKER_06: You know, so like if you ever know, like, well, in the beginning stages, you'll see one pocket of the party doing the dances.
- 14:20SPEAKER_06: It was for us.
- 14:21SPEAKER_06: And then, like, people that no, you didn't want to be missed, like left out.
- 14:25SPEAKER_06: So you learn to dance.
- 14:26SPEAKER_06: Some of them learnt them in the club, some of them learnt them at YouTube at home.
- 14:29SPEAKER_06: And then if you come back to the party a month later, the entire party is riding that wave.
- 14:34SPEAKER_06: You know, it had to start somewhere.
- 14:35SPEAKER_06: And then they were doing the line dances, they was two-stepping, they were doing the sexy walk, all that.
- 14:39SPEAKER_06: That was that's not true.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: So who's the kid?
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Who's the kid with the the skinny kid, young short with the dreads?
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: Tweak.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: Yo, Tweak used to get fucking busy, son.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: You can see on top of the teachers, yo.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: No, tweak used to get busy.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: And then who's Tim Dallas?
- 14:52SPEAKER_06: Tim Dallas, R.I.P.
- 14:53SPEAKER_06: He was uh one of the first persons to make club music.
- 14:56SPEAKER_06: He was the one that produced hit it to the beat for me.
- 14:57SPEAKER_04: That's why I asked that.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: I see his name on the credits.
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: Yep, yeah, Tim Dollar.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I see it on the credits too.
- 15:02SPEAKER_04: But it must make you super happy nowadays.
- 15:11SPEAKER_04: You know, little Uzi.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: Zeddy Will.
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: These are just the and to see the evolvement now, like now it's like, yeah, that's gotta make you super happy, bro.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Bro, because even even Ryan admitted it at most of his shit.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: He's touched in his jersey, you know, infused or Jersey inspired.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: So it took a while.
- 15:31SPEAKER_04: It took a while, but you know, the the fun thing about it is it's just jerseys just sound, it's just fun.
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: It's fun.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: And and and it breaks it away from from all the trap and all the, you know, all the gang gang and all the real on the flip side, that gotta be bittersweet too, because there's not a lot of Jersey artists that get to benefit from that wave anymore, right?
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: That's the that's the bad part about it.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Because honestly, it is blown up, but at the same time, on the flip side about it, it's like a lot of these Jersey, early Jersey Jersey artists that were doing these type of records that it's like, you know, they don't know.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: They didn't reach the benefits.
- 16:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they didn't reach the benefits of it.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: So, I mean that that's the bad part of it.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Isn't that isn't that in everything like the first rappers, the first this, the first that.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: You just gotta sit on it's on you, walleye.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: You gotta make this happen, bro.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: You gotta bring it back to Jersey.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: I'm putting it all on you.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: Don't you take it as we we planted the scene, and then you know, now we see what happened with it later.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: But I I agree with Cass.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: We need some new Walla records.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: I agree with Cass.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: I say, um, so Walla, what was what were your what were your some of some of the who were some of the DJs that influenced you?
- 16:34SPEAKER_06: From early, early, early on, it was a guy from Jersey named Doughboy.
- 16:39SPEAKER_06: I don't know if y'all familiar with DJ Doing.
- 16:41SPEAKER_06: That's my guy.
- 16:42SPEAKER_06: Yo, shout out to Doughboy, bro.
- 16:43SPEAKER_06: Doughboy was he was the first DJ I got a chance to sit back and watch.
- 16:47SPEAKER_06: Wow.
- 16:47SPEAKER_06: I went to DJing with him.
- 16:49SPEAKER_06: Like he was he was getting on the shift after me at the skating ring.
- 16:52SPEAKER_06: So while I'm waiting for my mother to come pick me up, I'm just sitting there watching him play.
- 16:56SPEAKER_06: And this is on vinyl.
- 16:57SPEAKER_06: Like, I've never seen the DJ put a vinyl on top of a vinyl because he's moving too fast.
- 17:01SPEAKER_06: I'm like, yo, he's gonna mess your records up.
- 17:03SPEAKER_06: He's putting vinyl on top of vinyl, he's talking, he's bringing stuff back.
- 17:06SPEAKER_06: I'm like, yo, how is he doing all of this at the same time?
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, you know, I gotta be like, that's the Branch Brook skating ring?
- 17:13SPEAKER_06: Yes, sir.
- 17:13SPEAKER_06: That was Branch Brook.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: Damn, I remember that shit.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, me up with that.
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: Branch Brooke.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's a cool dude, man.
- 17:21SPEAKER_06: Don't put it singing and rap.
- 17:22SPEAKER_06: Like he'll put an instrumental on and sing.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: I was just about to say, I was about to say, yo, his mic tape was serious, bro.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Like, don't play his mic game was serious, bro.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: I never seen anything like it.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: That's fire.
- 17:33SPEAKER_06: See, that's what I like.
- 17:36SPEAKER_06: Can I ask y'all a question?
- 17:36SPEAKER_06: As New York guys, right?
- 17:38SPEAKER_06: When y'all did come to Jersey, did y'all really see a difference?
- 17:40SPEAKER_06: Like, did they party more?
- 17:41SPEAKER_06: Was it more dancing oriented?
- 17:43SPEAKER_07: Yo, yo, coming from New York, you know, I I also saw more girls.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: Or maybe just because we're coming out of New York, you see more faces.
- 17:51SPEAKER_04: And and we will always compare, like, damn, Jersey girls are nicer.
- 17:55SPEAKER_04: Like, they're they're they're more polite.
- 17:57SPEAKER_04: You know, they we're used to the Brooklyn Queen X girls, which you know, they're just nicer, politer, you know, whatever party it was.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: It was just a different scene, you know what I'm saying?
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: And I don't know.
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: I'm tired of that.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Like, we wanted to come to a Jersey party and like, I don't know, take over the party and show Jersey what we had, but at the same time, I was a student when I came to Jersey.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: Like, I wanted to see what it was.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: And like, remember when we used to do the Thursday parties and then the Fridays, you stay in Jersey once 2 a.m.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: hit vroom, drive your ass to the city and do enough.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Yo, that was like to me, that was the greatest shit right there.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: I used to run right after a while out party, you ended up some of it close.
- 18:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, for anybody listening, just so y'all know, you know, Jersey closes their clothes pretty much at 2 a.m.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: Some 3 a.m.
- 18:40SPEAKER_04: But for the most part, 2 a.m.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: So we would start our day early there and then get to New York, you know, you New York closes at four in the morning.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: So and then but to your question, uh me, me, me, I welcomed it.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: I wanted to learn what Jersey was doing.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I wanted to see, and then once I realized, like, oh, there ain't got nobody out here doing what I'm doing.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: That was over.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Like, once I realized that, I was happy as shit.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: I was like, Wallah, ring me every time, brother.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Bring me every time.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: To your point, you was the first one.
- 19:07SPEAKER_06: You was the first one out here doing that.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: I really like the thing about Jersey parties that were different than New York parties, I think in my experience, was that it almost feels like people that used to party in Jersey and that were really there just to party and have a good time.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: It wasn't any showbone, it wasn't.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: It was gonna go there, dance, have a good time, and get crazy.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Plus, when you go over there, we'd hear stuff playing in Jersey that wouldn't be playing in the city, like all that jeezy stuff apart from the dance music, all that jeezy stuff, all that stuff, all that the young Gotti stuff was all playing in Jersey before it was playing in New York.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: That's facts.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: And we'd go over there, we'd be like, yo, this is real, like that.
- 19:45SPEAKER_04: And you know, to be honest, I think it's still like that.
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: Like, it's not a Jersey's not a bottle service uh type of vibe.
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: I mean, there is, of course, bottles, but it's not like New York.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: It's not if there's still dance floors in Jersey, they still focus on the party.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: Like, correct me if I'm wrong.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: You agree with that, Waller?
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: They still dance, having a good time at any of that pretentious.
- 20:04SPEAKER_06: Of course, you have your few spots that are trying to be more like New York to try to bring in more bottle service, but it still gets complicated because now you got people dancing on top of the couches and on top of tables because they're gonna they want to dance.
- 20:15SPEAKER_06: If you start playing, they're gonna dance.
- 20:17SPEAKER_06: Now you got them dancing on your furniture.
- 20:18SPEAKER_06: So it's gonna happen.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: What I loved about Jersey too is that Jersey was a big, big supporter of house music.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: And dance music.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Big, big, big, big feeling.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: And that that felt great, man.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Now you know you can't front from the and I don't know where that extends from.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: I uh you know, I used to be super duper into old school house and yeah, the Peppermint Lounge.
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Not only that, what was that club back in the day, Zanzibar?
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's that's all you know.
- 20:44SPEAKER_04: I was super young, I never got to go there, but I it was always Jersey Jersey.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: I don't know where that extends from, what's the route, but there was something there about house music in Jersey, man.
- 20:53SPEAKER_04: It's maybe while I could talk about it.
- 20:54SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 20:55SPEAKER_06: That's before my time, but it's always been like that.
- 20:58SPEAKER_06: It's always been like that.
- 20:59SPEAKER_06: Even if I'm playing a uh NJ Pack, a festival, they're gonna come up to the stage and be like, yo, you're gonna play house, right?
- 21:05SPEAKER_06: You're gonna play Quark, right?
- 21:06SPEAKER_06: Like little Todd's dad, um that was his name.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: Kwa, like super house head, right?
- 21:12SPEAKER_04: They want to hear that.
- 21:12SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: Well, I gotta find out one day.
- 21:14SPEAKER_04: What's the root?
- 21:15SPEAKER_04: Like, how did that, you know?
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: And we'll be right back.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: And now, back to the show.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: What's we'll ask what?
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: And and I give Walla props because like he be posting where he's doing, what he at, what he's moving, da da da da da da.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: But then you be like, this motherfucker's at the lobby of the NJ Pack.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Or you'd be like, the fuck he doing in like some courthouse government shit.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: And like, like that shit to me is amazing.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Because it's basically Walla gets up and goes, I'm gonna do this part, I don't give a fuck where it's at.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Because I always say, whenever you're on the mic, I'll be like, yo, put me at a funeral and I'll still make that shit crack.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: That's Walla does that shit.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: But real quick, now you now you know you that shit in Jersey.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Now you putting out these records, now you you're fucking up these clubs and the compass.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Station begins like wildlife heavy hitter, wildlife heavy hitter.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Was there ever a doubt?
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Like, was you like, I'll think about it, I'll fuck with y'all.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Was you like, fuck?
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know you mentioned it earlier, but was that more the feeling though?
- 22:10SPEAKER_06: No, so look, he might have told me one year, right?
- 22:13SPEAKER_06: I think Rainbow might have mentioned it one year.
- 22:14SPEAKER_06: It took a year later.
- 22:16SPEAKER_06: It was no rush because I didn't hear from him again.
- 22:19SPEAKER_06: So I'm like, I don't know what's happening.
- 22:20SPEAKER_06: So then you hit me up, like, yo, so you still want to do this, right?
- 22:23SPEAKER_06: I say, Yeah, okay.
- 22:24SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah, I'm waiting on you.
- 22:26SPEAKER_06: So I would love to know what happened behind the scenes.
- 22:29SPEAKER_05: Which one of y'all was hating on me that made me do the whole year?
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Yo, I'm keeping it a book.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: Walla was one of the very few people, like blah blah blah walla, and I was like, fuck yeah.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Because I already knew what the fuck he was doing over there.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: But then I know why you know what it was?
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, and then guys, no, no, I was gonna ask Walla, and then once the year came up and you was like, all right, let's do this shit.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: You know what it was, too, Walla?
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: You you know what it was, real quick?
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Because you're in a whole nother state.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Like, yes, Jersey and New York are right next to each other, but you're in a whole nother state, and it was just Rainbow at the time was the only heavy editor from Jersey, right?
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: And so it was kind of like I slightly remember they were look we were looking at Jersey, but it was like, who do we get?
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Who do we get?
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Who do we who do we get Jersey, right?
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: And it was other people, I'm not gonna name any names that names were floating around, but it was like it was pretty much unanimous that it was like, nah, yo, it gotta be Walla.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: It gotta be Walla.
- 23:30SPEAKER_05: So why are they waiting a year?
- 23:32SPEAKER_05: What happened?
- 23:32SPEAKER_05: Why had to wait over here?
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: I mean, listen, bro, I waited two years.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: What are you talking about?
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: What'd you hear?
- 23:41SPEAKER_07: I'm like, God, everybody had to wait.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, seven to eight years.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: Kalito took seven to eight years.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Excuse me.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Um, um, um, um, JC and Y got double digits or how long?
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: That's a fact.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: That's a fact.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: Yo, so while I I want to I want to hear, so okay, boom, you became a heavy hitter.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: Uh-uh.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: The radio thing.
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: How did that happen?
- 24:04SPEAKER_07: Yo, look, this happened fast.
- 24:06SPEAKER_07: I became a heavy hitter one month, maybe a couple of months later.
- 24:09SPEAKER_07: I know what I think you might have had a heavy reader, welcome to heavy hitter party.
- 24:16SPEAKER_07: And missing C was there, and not on the mic and said, Yo, we've been there while I own the radio.
- 24:21SPEAKER_07: And I seem to see the face like, like, Moth over there to say that on the microphone.
- 24:25SPEAKER_07: I was like, why did Enough say that?
- 24:26SPEAKER_07: And it happened quick, heavy within one month, three, four months later, I9.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: I will say this.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: I will say this too.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: Like, um, you were in in a unique position because you were loved by both Mr.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: C and Enough.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: So they were all pushing for you behind the scenes.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Like, nah, whenever we do the next Mickshaw weekend or next whatever, Walla's gotta be there, Walla's gotta be there, Walla's gotta be there.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: So if you didn't know, that's kind of like why that happened.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Because they were just like, like, C and E was fucking with you.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: Heavy.
- 24:56SPEAKER_06: Appreciate it, E.
- 24:57SPEAKER_06: Thank you, E.
- 24:57SPEAKER_06: Appreciate it.
- 24:58SPEAKER_06: So the rest of y'all wasn't fucking with me.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Nah.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Nah, we hated you.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: Nah, not really.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: Wallah, on the range, they still don't like you, bro, to this day.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: Facts.
- 25:10SPEAKER_07: I'm not walla, bro.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Y'all, I just want let and let me say one thing about Jersey, man.
- 25:15SPEAKER_04: I just want to put it out there that like to me, to me, Jersey, and I always say is a sixth borough.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: I hate to separate because Jersey's just always been a part of us, like always.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: Uh whether, oh, it's from Jersey.
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: Yo, you're a part of us.
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: You're the sixth borough.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: You're just over a fucking river, just like Brooklyn's over a river and Queens over.
- 25:32SPEAKER_04: That's all.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: It's like to me, Jersey's always been part of New York.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: So me, I never, I never separated.
- 25:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's from Jersey.
- 25:38SPEAKER_04: I'm like, man, stop talking trash.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Wallace, so so when did the hate start coming into the picture?
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: Heavy hitter.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: Your records are spinning on the radio, your parties are selling now more than before.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: Was Jersey looking at you in any funny way, or was it like shit, Walla, you made it.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Let's ride.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Like, what was the the reception out of Jersey?
- 25:55SPEAKER_05: Um, I think I I I think it was all good.
- 25:58SPEAKER_05: I don't I don't I don't think it is any hate.
- 26:00SPEAKER_05: I got your finger up.
- 26:02SPEAKER_02: Yo, Peter, so a lot of you guys might not know this, but Walla is connected to hip hop royalty.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: No, he is.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: I was talking to Van Rock from Low by Nature one day.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: And we had him at him at Shea 45 or something, and we're talking, and he was like, Oh, yeah, my nephew Walla, blah, blah, blah.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: I was like, What do you mean?
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: He goes, That's family.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Wallah's my family.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: So I don't know, is that blood family, or are we just saying you guys are just close because you're from the Jersey family?
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: Like, why not?
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: So, like, you know how it is.
- 26:37SPEAKER_07: That's uncle into you, right?
- 26:39SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 26:39SPEAKER_07: So look, my sister's dad, not my dad, my sister's dad.
- 26:42SPEAKER_07: They're all family.
- 26:43SPEAKER_07: But my sister's dad raised me.
- 26:46SPEAKER_07: You know what I'm saying?
- 26:47SPEAKER_07: So, like, it's not by blood, but like it couldn't be no closer because they raised me.
- 26:51SPEAKER_07: Like I was a kid.
- 26:52SPEAKER_06: So, like, so my sister dad is like my dad.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: But like, whoever his part of hip hop family voyage, bro.
- 26:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I never knew that.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: But I always understand my own.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: I always wanted to stand by the city.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: He never talks about it.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: He never talks about it.
- 27:05SPEAKER_04: Wala's one of those guys that's very quiet.
- 27:07SPEAKER_04: He's like, he watches everything, he don't say much.
- 27:10SPEAKER_04: He's like, I don't want to use the word sneaky, but he's just like very quiet on the cut.
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: Always in the cut, always in the cut.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: That's a good thing, huh?
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: That's not a bad thing.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: And besides DJing, Walla, when are you gonna open your own gym?
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Because let's get to the know, Walla used to be about 105 pounds, soaking wet, super skinny, right?
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: His dread was the heaviest thing on his body.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: Now, you know, in the camera, he looks kind of small.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: But if you see him in real life, you think he's a security guard.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: Because he's like flexing his guns.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: He's flexing his guns.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Look at him.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Yo, Walla is super into fitness, and you could catch him, you know, his workouts on the gram.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Like, what made you get into that?
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: What made you turn your life around from being just regular to being like Superman gym go?
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: But he was a toothpick.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: He was.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: Yo, for real.
- 28:04SPEAKER_06: During the pandemic, during the pandemic, it was it was nothing to do.
- 28:08SPEAKER_06: The first thing that opened up during the pandemic was the gyms.
- 28:10SPEAKER_06: The gym pandemic.
- 28:11SPEAKER_06: Thank you, I file up.
- 28:12SPEAKER_06: Back up, back up.
- 28:13SPEAKER_06: The first thing that opened up during the pandemic was the gym.
- 28:15SPEAKER_06: So I had I was in the gym.
- 28:16SPEAKER_06: I was like, let me just go down and take to the gym.
- 28:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 28:19SPEAKER_06: But you went, you, you went.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Like you went.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: Like you she just kept going.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: I wanted to do that.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: And now I went to the top.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: And now you with the tank top, come see me at the gym and all that.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Like, we're gonna, we're gonna have to work, we're gonna have to work on getting wall out some sponsorships, bro.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: You gotta get like some some some supplement stop.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Come on, man.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: You're not focused, bro.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: Like, you gotta get focused on this side of things, right?
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: This is this big money we're talking about over here.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: You look on the gram.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: These dudes are making big money with this gym stuff, all right?
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna manage you.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: We're gonna get you some sponsorships, bro.
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, bro.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: Yo, but I got you over there.
- 28:59SPEAKER_06: Like, I seen Camelo in the gym.
- 29:01SPEAKER_06: I seen Caz doing stuff in the gym.
- 29:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, who was you lost Hello Way?
- 29:04SPEAKER_06: I was hype, like, all right, everybody.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: During the pandemic, I think we I meant I hit the gym for the first time.
- 29:09SPEAKER_04: I've never had a trainer, this and that.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: I do not look nothing like Walla.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Like I'm I just wanted to, I just wanted to burn and sweat and keep the heart healthy while I took it to the next level, man.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Walla does the work out official king.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: Speaking about NFL, you also the official giant, the official DJ for the Giants.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: You still doing that?
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Yes, sir.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: Still doing that.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: You know, Wallace each and every Sunday.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: Am I wrong?
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: Uh-oh.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: That you was a cowboy fan before.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Don't bring that up.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: Yo, delete that.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Delete that.
- 29:39SPEAKER_06: We're not we're not talking about it.
- 29:40SPEAKER_06: I know.
- 29:41SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 29:41SPEAKER_06: I can explain.
- 29:42SPEAKER_06: I can explain.
- 29:43SPEAKER_06: I never heard this.
- 29:44SPEAKER_06: I was talking to Coach Dave, right?
- 29:46SPEAKER_06: Formerly of the Giants, and I asked him, I said, yo, uh, is it gonna be weird that I wasn't a Giants fan?
- 29:52SPEAKER_06: He was like, none of us were Giants fans.
- 29:54SPEAKER_06: We work here now.
- 29:55SPEAKER_06: Once you work here, you are a Giants fan.
- 29:58SPEAKER_06: You root for the team you work for.
- 30:00SPEAKER_06: And I said, All right, bet.
- 30:01SPEAKER_06: He said, Yo, I used to work for the Buffalo Bills.
- 30:03SPEAKER_06: I was a Bills fan.
- 30:05SPEAKER_06: But now he's in Tennessee.
- 30:07SPEAKER_06: Happy cleared that up.
- 30:08SPEAKER_06: Most of the players are from the South, so they root for Cowboys and everybody else.
- 30:17SPEAKER_06: All right, all right.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: I was like, Wallah got more Giants gear than me.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: And he just showed up to the party.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: I own like three stirs, but uh, it's respected.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: It's respected.
- 30:30SPEAKER_06: We all Knicks fans, right?
- 30:31SPEAKER_06: Respectfully, right?
- 30:32SPEAKER_06: I think so.
- 30:33SPEAKER_06: Well, let's say San Antonio said, L Bulls, we want you to come host for us.
- 30:37SPEAKER_06: Are you yours?
- 30:38SPEAKER_06: I'm from them cowboys on.
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: Let's get going.
- 30:44SPEAKER_05: Cowboys.
- 30:45SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 30:46SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 30:49SPEAKER_04: Yo, and now, you know, moving forward, you're also a Branson DJ, meaning, you know, get you want to tell us how that started?
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: Like, you know.
- 30:57SPEAKER_06: I gotta uh, you know what?
- 30:58SPEAKER_06: It was during the pandemic.
- 30:59SPEAKER_06: We was going live, you know.
- 31:00SPEAKER_06: We had the DJ in the house, and I was going live.
- 31:03SPEAKER_06: And I think I might have been going live, but telling everybody, yo, send me a send me a cash app, I'll take a shot right now.
- 31:08SPEAKER_06: Just start bread.
- 31:10SPEAKER_06: So I ended up getting drunk as hell on live, drinking, drinking Hennessy all of it.
- 31:15SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 31:15SPEAKER_06: And Renee reached out, Renee was like, yo, you want to do a live for Branson?
- 31:19SPEAKER_06: You know, he I guess he was using his marketing mind, like, yo, if you're gonna get drunk, put our brand in front of you.
- 31:24SPEAKER_06: We'll send you a couple bottles.
- 31:25SPEAKER_06: So I said, send me your yeah, send me the bottles.
- 31:26SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 31:27SPEAKER_06: I did a Branson live and I was playing RB.
- 31:30SPEAKER_06: If 50 got in the room, he jumped in the live and left a comment.
- 31:34SPEAKER_06: So he's like, yo, he never comes in the live.
- 31:36SPEAKER_06: Yo, right.
- 31:37SPEAKER_06: You must be doing something right.
- 31:38SPEAKER_06: So he's like, yo, you wanna get down?
- 31:39SPEAKER_06: And I, you know, my regular answer is shit, yeah, hell yeah.
- 31:42SPEAKER_06: Y'all paying us down.
- 31:44SPEAKER_04: That pandemic was good for you, man.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: Hell yeah.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: I've only drank Branson actually at your birthday party, is the only and first time I ever drank Branson.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: It was like 20, uh 2021 party.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: I remember that.
- 31:55SPEAKER_04: But but you know, so this is a DJ podcast.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: It's important for DJs to know, like, you know, how to get down with a brand, and that's how happened to Walla, which is, you know, which is to add on to a DJ's career.
- 32:06SPEAKER_04: You know, the bag is also good.
- 32:08SPEAKER_06: So the one thing I always try to tell DJs is don't be afraid to use your social media.
- 32:11SPEAKER_06: Like, I look at some people's pages and their pages are blank, they don't post nothing.
- 32:15SPEAKER_06: To me, it looks like you're not working.
- 32:16SPEAKER_06: And if you are somebody trying to get somebody to, you know, sponsor or be next to your brand and they feel like they're not working, you're not gonna reach out to them.
- 32:23SPEAKER_06: So I use my social media as a tool.
- 32:25SPEAKER_06: If I'm doing something, I don't care like L Books.
- 32:26SPEAKER_06: If I'm DJing at a courthouse, I'm gonna post it.
- 32:29SPEAKER_06: Y'all at the courthouse today, and we're about to turn up, and you're gonna see how it is.
- 32:32SPEAKER_06: I can be talking to kids, I'm posting it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_06: I could be giant, I'm posting it.
- 32:37SPEAKER_06: If I'm in the gym, I'm posting it.
- 32:39SPEAKER_06: And brands is like, yo, we want this guy to stand next to us because we know that he's gonna use his social media to promote our product.
- 32:45SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: Why be tagging me on shit that got nothing to do with me?
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Nothing to do with you.
- 32:50SPEAKER_05: Nothing to do with me, but I get what you're doing.
- 32:52SPEAKER_05: Yo, I'm in the gym.
- 32:53SPEAKER_05: Turn that RB off.
- 32:55SPEAKER_05: I I Yeah, we be in the role.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: I haven't played bowl yet.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: Yo, I'm playing Mariah Science.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: He'd be like, yo, why you I'm in the gym, why you playing this RB?
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yo, bro, relax.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: We're gonna get to the part in a second.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: I will say one of my favorite things about Walla and Camillo is the banter between both of you.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Walla be like Walla be the podcast.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Camilla be like, no, they ain't.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: I ain't even the promoter, and the doors is closed in my shit.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Yo, I love that right there.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I love listening with Walla, because he's slick too.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: Camilo be like, yeah, unwalkable.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: Camilo be like, unwalkable through.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Walla be like, no, we can get through that crowd.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 33:33SPEAKER_06: I'll zoom in, I'm like, yo, I see space right there.
- 33:35SPEAKER_06: You can still walk through.
- 33:36SPEAKER_06: It's not unwalkable.
- 33:39SPEAKER_04: Oh man, I love it.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: We definitely called them like a seal.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: Back to the radio, like your first day on radio.
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: How did I feel?
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: Like, what were you nervous?
- 33:49SPEAKER_04: Were you, you know, because you're not in a club, you know, and you're in the hot 97.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: Ah, you know, like do you remember the first day?
- 33:57SPEAKER_06: Yes, I was super nervous.
- 33:59SPEAKER_06: Now, the reason why I'm nervous had nothing to do with me.
- 34:01SPEAKER_06: I was in the room, in that booth, and Mr.
- 34:03SPEAKER_06: C was standing right next to me.
- 34:05SPEAKER_06: I knew that was gonna come.
- 34:07SPEAKER_06: I knew that was that that was nervous to me.
- 34:09SPEAKER_06: With like a like a clipboard or something pointing itself.
- 34:12SPEAKER_06: Say this, say that, do this, do that.
- 34:14SPEAKER_06: I'm like, no, bro, I can't focus like this, man.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: You gotta what's going on with this guy?
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: You know what's funny?
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you've mentioned that because a lot of people don't believe me when I say I was like, yeah, the first time I was on radio, it was like the middle of the night sometime.
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: It was like, like how they say in Spanish, like madrugada.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: It was like 4 or 5 a.m.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: And who pulled up?
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: C.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: And he's standing there like the same thing, he did the same thing with trends, and now I'm glad that you said it, he did the same thing with you.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 34:42SPEAKER_04: Yo, back then, and that's why you knew how much he loved what we did and what he did, and he gave a fuck.
- 34:49SPEAKER_04: Like, who would pull up a front of you know to check somebody like yo?
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: And then you know, I remember too, like that I got the same story when I was starting at 7 p.m., enough gave up his hour for me for me to do it, and he goes, You ready?
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: Are you ready?
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, I'm ready.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: No, but I'm just saying, are you ready?
- 35:03SPEAKER_04: It's almost go time.
- 35:04SPEAKER_04: Like, so he was always on his feet, like he's always checking you.
- 35:08SPEAKER_04: Like, so for voila, I can imagine you was, you know, it's a little intimidated.
- 35:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was intimidated because it's my uh you don't get a warm-up, you don't get a chance to practice.
- 35:16SPEAKER_06: He's like, You ready, you ready, you ready, you ready?
- 35:19SPEAKER_06: He just kept saying it, you ready, you ready?
- 35:20SPEAKER_06: You ready?
- 35:20SPEAKER_06: You ready?
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: I said, Yo, yo, come on, yeah, but was it like was it like set up?
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: Was it like yo, wallah get in the game?
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Like, was it like yo, come through Yeah, it was it was set up.
- 35:30SPEAKER_06: It was like yo, you you know you're gonna be on this day, this time, but this is my first time in the booth, right?
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: Because he's sitting there right there, and that's the difference that you have to understand.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, like me, um, I know in my experience, me, trans, Camillo, even, we've had opportunities in the booth before.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: We've watched countless times.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: He watched Enough do his thing, we've watched C do his, we've count, we've watched it, but you were like out the like you were out the street right onto the box.
- 35:58SPEAKER_06: And he'll look at my laptop, don't play that one.
- 35:59SPEAKER_06: Uh uh.
- 36:00SPEAKER_06: I'm like, he's already up there.
- 36:03SPEAKER_05: Don't play that one.
- 36:04SPEAKER_05: That's not like C.
- 36:05SPEAKER_05: That's style XC.
- 36:07SPEAKER_05: I'm like, yeah, this one don't mix, make it mix.
- 36:09SPEAKER_05: Hit the sound effect, hit the button.
- 36:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and and just so DJs out there understand, like when you go play at hot back then, it wasn't your standard setup.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: It's like a turntable was here diagonal, a mixer here, and then another turntable with diagonal.
- 36:25SPEAKER_04: The booth was just weird.
- 36:26SPEAKER_04: So it wasn't like you know, you were stepping in and you weren't you weren't gonna be comfortable like a regular setup.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: Am I correct?
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: No, no, not the first time.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: It took a while for me to be comfortable.
- 36:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was different.
- 36:35SPEAKER_04: It was different.
- 36:36SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I can imagine that could add to the, you know, being fucking nervous and shit.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: And then and then once you do the high 97 thing and the name is out and everything's cooking for you, like you just did you reach a moment where you was like, yeah, this shit, like it it became bigger than what you thought at one point, or it was always like, Yeah, according to plan, this is how we've been doing it.
- 36:55SPEAKER_06: Yo, to be honest with you, bugs, I'll be so focused on what I'm doing next that I don't get a chance to sit back and smell the flowers.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know how I stole my little, while I stole my AOL shit, every time we used to talk on aim and be like, the next big thing.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: And he was like, yo, what is that shit?
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: Next thing I know, why's flyer, the next big thing.
- 37:15SPEAKER_06: I always think you can always be better.
- 37:17SPEAKER_06: You can always learn, you can always keep moving forward.
- 37:19SPEAKER_06: So when I hit a milestone, I don't get a chance to sit back and really celebrate because I'm already working on what I gotta do.
- 37:24SPEAKER_06: You're working on now though.
- 37:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 37:26SPEAKER_06: I don't even like talking about it.
- 37:27SPEAKER_06: I stopped talking about it because I don't want to jinx it.
- 37:29SPEAKER_06: I used to sit back and be like, yo, I'm working on this, working on that, and then it don't work.
- 37:32SPEAKER_06: And I'm like, I jinxed myself.
- 37:34SPEAKER_06: I jinxed myself.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: So now I just are you are you at a point now that like since you've been rapping jersey for so long and you what was this, two people in Jersey, three people we got, two people, whatever?
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: Like, are you at a point that people are like, yo, Walla was tough?
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Walla was tough.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: You OG now.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: You are like you the OG now.
- 37:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they tell me not to meet like, yo, why yo, what's good?
- 37:56SPEAKER_06: I want to be a heavy hit.
- 37:57SPEAKER_06: I'm like, yo, you gotta talk to Bugs.
- 37:58SPEAKER_06: Yo, you met Bugs yet?
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: Let me let me fix it for you, my brother.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: You gotta talk to Walla.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: That's what I say.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: Every Jersey D Wallace.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: You gotta talk to Walla.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: No matter who it is from Jersey, I'd be like, talk to the guy with the W.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: Like, literally, I send them your way no matter what.
- 38:23SPEAKER_04: I've had Jersey guys holler at me, and I say, yo, if you don't know Walla, and I've done this before.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: If you don't know Walla, if you don't know Drewski, then you're already messing up.
- 38:32SPEAKER_04: Hollering at me.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: And then what people gotta understand too is like we know what it is.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: We know somebody in Chicago, go talk to Farris.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: We know somebody, go like, so we now know, like, yo, you don't gotta talk to me, you don't cassie.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: No, no, you gotta talk to Walla because and Drewski because y'all rep in that side, you know what I mean?
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: And most of the time we don't even know who these dudes are, or all females are.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: So you guys kind of the filter between us, and we always do that, and I want people to understand that's how we move.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: If you're from Jersey, you want to get down, Walla has to at least know you exist.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: Because we never go into Jersey and do the research for you, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: And I always tell people like, yo, no matter what state, no matter what pocket you rep in, there's always a representative, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: And Walla has a lot of people to go through because it's been a minute, right?
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: That we've crowned anybody from Jersey.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: And I want people to understand, yeah, it takes a while because we ain't just playing down people just because we need another number, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, we ain't about that.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: You just gotta be all you gotta be uh like us, all of us.
- 39:35SPEAKER_04: We all got something in common.
- 39:36SPEAKER_06: So what do we have in common?
- 39:38SPEAKER_06: What do we have in common, Cavalo?
- 39:39SPEAKER_04: Well, like number one, hit the talk.
- 39:41SPEAKER_04: Number one, number one, we wanna be great DJs.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: I think every damn heavy hitter gives a you know a fuck about the craft.
- 39:48SPEAKER_04: That's number one.
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: Number one, number two, we hold down whatever the fuck we do, we hold down you hold down Jersey, right?
- 39:54SPEAKER_04: That's the reason that you're a heavy hitter, right?
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: And so on and so forth.
- 39:58SPEAKER_04: Now you want to keep going?
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Number three.
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: Number three.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: Number two, number three.
- 40:02SPEAKER_04: We have we have that brut brotherly bond.
- 40:05SPEAKER_04: At some point, I think we all hold each other down.
- 40:07SPEAKER_04: And I tell everybody, we're not a crew, we're we're like a brotherhood, you know what I'm saying?
- 40:11SPEAKER_04: Many times I got on the phone with Walla for whatever, on some behind the scenes, like yo, you know, whatever the case or scenario situation is, you know, and that's the beauty of the crew.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: This is not uh and I would say that about Walla, like Walla and me don't even gotta speak, and then all of a sudden your bugs, and we like, you know, it's like you know what I'm saying?
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Like I always try to tell people, yeah, it's mad of us, but we don't talk every day.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, when we connect, we just connect and we pick up like the shit we pick up where we left off at.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Yo, look at that.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: Hey, let's go.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: Number five, don't be a jerk.
- 40:45SPEAKER_00: Let's be a nice guy.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: Be a nice guy, you know what I'm saying?
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: Real quick, it it I know it's changed everywhere.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Is Jersey still the same when it comes to the parties and all that?
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: Are you like, nah, this shit change?
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: Or like, because I know to us it was always a fun place to go to.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: And then now when I see Camillo touching down and you guys at Cass, whatever, you guys aren't doing the same type of parties as before.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: So, like, has everything completely changed?
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: Let's just say after pandemic or whatnot?
- 41:08SPEAKER_06: Well, you see certain changes after the pandemic, of course, but the crowd got older.
- 41:12SPEAKER_06: So the ones that we used to party with that used to, you know, be at Abyss or Deco, they got older.
- 41:16SPEAKER_06: They got kids, they got jobs, they, you know, they some of them don't go out every weekend no more.
- 41:21SPEAKER_06: They might go out once a month, right?
- 41:23SPEAKER_06: And look, the younger generation taking over and they come with a different energy.
- 41:27SPEAKER_06: Now, might not always be positive, but they come with a different energy.
- 41:31SPEAKER_06: You know, we just had to adapt.
- 41:32SPEAKER_06: We pivoted.
- 41:33SPEAKER_04: Well, I think also, I think also the world's changed, and and it's not just Jersey, it's everywhere.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: Like, I talk to guys in Vegas, I talk to guys in LA, I talk to guys in Miami, and everything's changed.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, of course, but you know, um, but uh Jersey's still Jersey, man.
- 41:47SPEAKER_04: They still rocking, you know.
- 41:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they are.
- 41:50SPEAKER_04: I say that heavy now, now 2026.
- 41:53SPEAKER_04: Do you see uh young DJ Walla coming up in Jersey?
- 41:56SPEAKER_04: Do you see the next like well this kid keep eyeing him?
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: Like, who put us on to Little Taj?
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: Who put us on to Little Taj?
- 42:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: I don't know who put us on Little Taj.
- 42:06SPEAKER_04: I'm asking you, I don't know.
- 42:07SPEAKER_04: You're the Jersey guy.
- 42:08SPEAKER_06: That was you, Walla.
- 42:10SPEAKER_06: Enough, enough raising his hand.
- 42:11SPEAKER_06: You know?
- 42:12SPEAKER_06: It was qua.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: It was qua.
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: Okay, it wasn't even Walla, I used to work at Kiss FM and he was doing mixes back then.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: Okay, all right, all right, but but so so 2026, do you see the new generation of DJs?
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: Question, Camillo.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: Do you even fucking care?
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: Wallah, do you care?
- 42:30SPEAKER_06: Sometimes I look like yo, who's gonna be able to take over this when I'm when I you know scale up my business and start doing something different?
- 42:37SPEAKER_06: But I think I came up in a unique time where we had paper flyers.
- 42:41SPEAKER_06: I'm I'm I'm old enough to be around to play on vinyl and have paper flyers, but young enough to also be a part of the social media Serrado age.
- 42:49SPEAKER_06: So when I see some of the new guys, and like they don't have the same drive that we had because they didn't have to go out there and put flyers on cars, they ain't have to go to every college and put flyers under the doors, they ain't had to walk around with a book bag full of CDs.
- 43:00SPEAKER_06: So I'm like, yo, bro, you don't know how good you got it.
- 43:02SPEAKER_06: You better take advantage because we had to go out and do this hand to hand.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: Brooks, he don't care no more because he don't even remember the year he became a heavy hitter.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: I can tell you if you know if you know this uh this uh this question, the answer, it was the year that uh what was that Chinese guy with that song?
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: Whoa, what's the guy?
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thigh.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: That was the biggest shit.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: Because I remember doing your New York heavy hitters release party.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: You played that out the gate.
- 43:34SPEAKER_02: And I was like, what is he playing?
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: I remember the party.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I remember the party.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: It was him and DJ Lead, right?
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Damn, what year was that?
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: I didn't know I was looking it up.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: That was 2012.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: 2012.
- 43:49SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: It released July 15th, 2012.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: I thought you got down way before that.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: I don't bug it.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: What was that like 2007, eight?
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: I don't remember.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: It wasn't it might have been like it might have been like
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: About nine or ten because it was as fixed.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: Hey, from the HR department, the guy's Korean, not Chinese.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: I know I said that.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: I said that I said that Korean time got racism.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: Yo, bro.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: But unruly.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: And then and then and then with Wildlife.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: I kind of get you though, bro, because the metrics are different by the year, by what we judge these people by.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: And I understand what you're saying.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: Like in 2026, like what are we judging people by?
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Like, what is it that you're doing that's this?
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Fuck that.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: What's different that you're doing that the last five people we put down are not doing?
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Because I think people ran out of shit to do to prove their talent.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: They ran out of shit.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: People think like, I got Serato, uh, I know how to turn it on.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: I could be heavier.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Then you're like, nah, man, where the fuck is your hustle?
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: What is your drive?
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: Like, what the fuck?
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Like, did you wake up one day and go, I mean, hey, what's that?
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: I think I think that's not all the way fair because there's a lot of young dudes that are hustling also, but the hustle, the hustling is a little different, right?
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: You might look at it like it's easier, you might look at it like it's easier, but it's not because it's not easy to set up three, five cameras, lighting outside in the street, shoot some content to put it up, and then do all that work, edit it, then get that content out, and then try to get it pushed out, advertising.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: Like it's a it's a whole different kind of hustle.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: That's uh and some of us older people, it might seem like, oh, that's not as hard, you're not going as hard.
- 45:23SPEAKER_04: But in reality, it is as hard.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: It is hard, it is as hard, and they're working just as hard.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: But also, you got to think about it, doubling down for the young cats is even harder because you have so much more competition, right?
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: Like when we're coming up, there was competition, there was competition, but it wasn't like now, like anybody could turn on, get a music, and be a be a DJ.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: Back in the day, you have to like buy records, get nice on the turntables, you know, have music now.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: Yo, bro, anybody could buy a laptop, Servado, download a library, and be like, I'm a DJ.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: So how do you separate yourself from that pack?
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: These young guys are really trying to figure it, figure it out.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: And we're watching it in real time, so you should pay attention to how these young guys are moving because I find it interesting.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: I'm like, wow, look at how this kid's doing this and look how this guy's doing that and stand out.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: It's a different thing.
- 46:06SPEAKER_04: It's like it's like when you see Mega J on uh doing his thing and doing five, six records, like right, and he's going viral, like he's going viral, and that's a whole nother book.
- 46:15SPEAKER_04: You ever see Mega J work?
- 46:17SPEAKER_04: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 46:18SPEAKER_04: Chris G the same thing, like you know what I'm saying?
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: Like there's a bunch of kids who are there, Lilo, Dito, freaking uh DJ precise, not our precise, but other precise from LA.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: And it's you know, it's a whole different game.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: And sometimes DJs, I want to and I think it's whack.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: I think that part is whack when DJs look at it and they kind of shit on it because they be like, oh, it's not doing it, it's that's easy.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: I you do it.
- 46:37SPEAKER_00: You do it.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: It's not easy.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, real quick, I uh quite even we talking a while.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: I still when you look at that, you go, uh, you're good at streaming.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: Does that fucking give you the like you know what I'm saying?
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: Like, and I get it, because I love the fact that these I can't do the shit these new people are doing, but like you don't hand out flyers, you don't carry crates, but you're great at streaming.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: Like, is that the you know what I mean?
- 46:59SPEAKER_06: Nah, I see I don't know the metric, so I would never want to say that out loud.
- 47:02SPEAKER_06: But in my mind, I'm looking like, all right, so what do you bring to the table that's different from the next person?
- 47:07SPEAKER_06: Or are we just basing it upon how many views, likes, and followers you got on Instagram?
- 47:12SPEAKER_06: Because a lot of that stuff could be skewed, you know.
- 47:14SPEAKER_06: We could go buy views, likes, and and all that.
- 47:15SPEAKER_06: So that makes me a hot guy.
- 47:16SPEAKER_06: Am I am I hot because I got a million followers on the gram?
- 47:19SPEAKER_06: Can I come play?
- 47:20SPEAKER_06: Can I rock this party?
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: That part, you can shoot by the class that's hanging on your walls, too.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: You can buy that too.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: So I mean, like, well, you know, I'll give you an example.
- 47:29SPEAKER_04: Like a a Jersey heavy hitter, a jersey heavy hitter, DJ K D, super young, but you could tell his hustle.
- 47:37SPEAKER_04: You can see he's working, you can see, and he's not on everybody's radar, and he's not, but you could just see the fucking passion.
- 47:44SPEAKER_04: You know, when I talk to him, he's a fucking heavy hitter.
- 47:47SPEAKER_04: When he talks, you just hear it, man.
- 47:48SPEAKER_04: It's like damn.
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: He's ready to go.
- 47:50SPEAKER_04: He gives a fuck.
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: He's ready to go.
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: And he's always, and if you need some help, and if I need you to put you, and if you need uh how to hook up this mic and he's there, bro.
- 47:58SPEAKER_04: So you know you know, I'm always watching.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: We can't judge everybody on what we were doing in '99 and 2005.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: We can't at all.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: Like, not even close, bro.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: Like at all.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: Like we can't judge.
- 48:12SPEAKER_06: If you have a barbershop argument and you say LeBron versus Jordan, they're gonna pick Jordan because they say Jordan played during a rougher time in basketball when basketball was real.
- 48:20SPEAKER_06: You know, people gonna pick the older times, like they're gonna pick the older football players.
- 48:23SPEAKER_06: Back when football was football, you had to get you got hit.
- 48:26SPEAKER_06: These new guys.
- 48:32SPEAKER_03: I'm picking Jordan, bro.
- 48:34SPEAKER_05: I'm picking up.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: This guy.
- 48:40SPEAKER_04: Oh man.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Oh man.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: But uh I just you know I mean, like I for the record, I've always I've always loved what Wildlout does, not only in Jersey, well, he does pretty because the way you move, you only you move that way.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: And I think and I think that when I see that, that's what I want to see.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: Like what you just said.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: Like, I want to see somebody that just moves on their own.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: And when people talk to me, I'll be like, dude, that's what we are.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: We're a bunch of motherfuckers that are on our own.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: We drive our own shit.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: Don't come here just to tag along.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: And I've always commended Walla on that.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: He's always done his own shit.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: I mean, help is cool, you know what I'm saying?
- 49:13SPEAKER_04: What but but most most of the wheel heavy hitters, they're on their own lane.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: They're like, oh, put me on.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: Nah, bro.
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: Like, what you mean?
- 49:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you have to do that.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: That's why and I know it's been a minute, but like when even when it comes to Jersey, I'd be like, yo, go talk to Walla, fam.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: If if Walla, I can't do nothing, man.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: I'm not paying the toe to get to know you, you know what I mean?
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: But so Walla, I know you don't like talking about it.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: What they need to know?
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: Like, what they just need to know in the next six months, the next year, whatever.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Like, what they need to know.
- 49:45SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm currently working on headline in the night at NJPack.
- 49:49SPEAKER_06: So I don't talk about that because the promotion is already out there.
- 49:52SPEAKER_06: I'm just working on the voila and the and friends part.
- 49:55SPEAKER_06: I'm locking in my N friends.
- 49:56SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, NJ Pack is usually an older crowd, so it's not even gonna be nothing that's like you would hear on the radio per se.
- 50:03SPEAKER_06: It's gonna be like, like my my first and friends, I can say, is nice and smooth.
- 50:08SPEAKER_06: I got nice and smooth coming out.
- 50:10SPEAKER_06: Both of them, both of them.
- 50:11SPEAKER_06: There's like, yo, we gotta make it.
- 50:13SPEAKER_06: Is there a date on this?
- 50:13SPEAKER_06: There's a date?
- 50:14SPEAKER_06: Uh it's June 26th.
- 50:17SPEAKER_06: That's a Friday.
- 50:17SPEAKER_06: Okay, oh, yeah.
- 50:18SPEAKER_07: June 26th, Friday, NJ Pack, DJ Walla, and Friends, but it's all gonna be classic.
- 50:23SPEAKER_07: So nice and friends is the first one.
- 50:24SPEAKER_07: So you can bring your uncle, Uncle Vinny.
- 50:27SPEAKER_07: I mean, that's the thing, but it's gotta be both of them.
- 50:30SPEAKER_07: It can't be one.
- 50:31SPEAKER_07: Right, no, it gotta be trash.
- 50:34SPEAKER_07: 100%.
- 50:35SPEAKER_03: That's that's not the best right there.
- 50:37SPEAKER_07: That's probably not the easy part, right?
- 50:39SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we gotta figure it out.
- 50:40SPEAKER_07: We gotta figure it out.
- 50:41SPEAKER_07: I'm looking I'm still trying to figure it out.
- 50:42SPEAKER_07: We're gonna we're gonna work it out.
- 50:43SPEAKER_07: We're gonna work it out.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: Well, we we we appreciate you for tapping in with the podcast and like, you know what I mean?
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: We ain't got nothing else but say but wish you the best and keep fucking it up out there, my brother.
- 50:53SPEAKER_06: Anything you want to promote, Walla?
- 50:56SPEAKER_06: Um, just go to my social media, go to the Instagram at DJ Walla.
- 51:00SPEAKER_06: I'll post everything.
- 51:00SPEAKER_06: I'm probably gonna be in the gym by the time somebody's looking at this right now, posting.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: If you crash one channel, his guns, if I would have known, I would have had it.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: I was wrong, listen, Walla, I just ran three miles and I just got on here like it's like it's nothing.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm about to go to gym like I'm trying to catch up, trying to catch up.
- 51:19SPEAKER_00: Humble brag, humble brag.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: I just ran three miles.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: All right, y'all, Walla, thank you on behalf of DJ Enough, Cash Swan, Camilla, myself, Len Boogs.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: It's another episode of the Heavy Hitter DJ podcast.
