- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by Genjag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Deluga.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here Tuesday, October 7th.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: They've victory Tuesday for your Jaguars, who are now 4 and 1, tie to top the AFC South after a 14 point come from behind victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Trevor Lawrence's birthday on Monday night football.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: But we have some unfortunate news to discuss right here and right now.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: The Jacksonville Jack Wars have just announced that they are placing tight-end Britain strange on the injured reserve list, which means he will be out for at least.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: for weeks.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: They signed Y-Drecyver Tim Jones to the practice squad, who I was not expecting necessarily to see back, but certainly a valuable special team's player potentially added to the practice squad and they released Y-Drecyver Eric Ezucanma from the practice squad, who they signed to the practice squad, I believe it was right after they played against the
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: So, the big news here is obviously Branton strained being placed on injured reserve with a hip injury.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: He left the game against the Kansas City Chiefs last night and did not return.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: So, Branton strained is, you know, in my opinion, one of the most versatile
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: toughest, tone setting players that the Jack Wars have and also a really good receiver on top of like the blocker and just physical guy out there, which sucks, you know, it really does suck, he's
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's second leading receiver now, excuse me, he was first heading into Monday night football but Brian Thomas Jr.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: had himself a pretty big game against the chiefs.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: So Britain's strange, you know, he was, again, really good blocking.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: really good as a receiver had 20 catches on 24 targets for 204 yards on the season so far.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, he's not down for the count, hopefully.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we'll have to see.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have to get some more news about this to see exactly where he's at.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: But it means he'll be out for at least four weeks.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: And that's very unfortunate.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I would not be surprised with the hip injury being placed on IR.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to speculate too much.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: But it doesn't sound great.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: It does not sound great.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Expect it to miss about a month, OK?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: micro offload here.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: And this is not going to be the best show I've ever done on extremely tired from last night and from getting some, you know, recaps in different things.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: out for y'all today, but my Garafolo of NFL network says sources say, Brendan Strange is expected to miss about a month with a quad injury, so not a season ending injury for the Jaguar's Titan.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's wonderful.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's the good news.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: He will be out for about a month, so injured reserve for about four or five weeks, maybe and then you come back and you have plenty of season left and you'll have a lot of big
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: against a lot of divisional opponents.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: You have two late-season games against the Colts Titans.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: You still got the Texans, which he may or may not be back for that game.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: It still stinks though, you know, he was having such a good year and you want to play a like that available every single game for your team, but individually as well.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he was just on pace to have like a really nice season.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's played him five games, he has over 200 yards.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, was on pace to have like a really nice statistical receiving season as a tight end.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and obviously again, making a lot of impact blocks and just big place for the jackboards.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a reliable kind of safety valve for Trevor Lawrence, but there is some good news here.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, I would say, um, 100 long as a good football player.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Johnny Munt is a good football player.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Those are your two top backups really for the Jaguar as at tight end and you also have Quentin Morris who the Jaguar assigned to their active roster on Monday yesterday before the game releasing Cody Schrader or waving Cody Schrader.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: What is the exact verbage there?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: They released Cody Strider, so he's available to sign anywhere and they could potentially bring him back to the practice squad, depending on how things go.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: He hadn't been around too long in Jacksonville, but he does have familiarity with this group from a little bit of time in LA, but Hunter Long really hasn't played a ton.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: As compared to Britain's strange, and he hasn't been as targeted, but he's been effective.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a very, very effective player for the Jaguar so far.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy that has had some injuries throughout his career, but has length, has athleticism, has the ability to get behind the defense, go up and get a ball, run away from some line backers at times, and they can kind of scheme him up, and he's a good blocker.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: Johnny Mont is a very good blocker.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then Quentin Morris is a good blocker too, who came over from Buffalo, and he was kind of a preseason star for the Jaguars.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the guys you're gonna be leaning on without Britain's strange.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think you necessarily see a lot less usage of multiple tight ends because again, Hunter Long has been playing a fair amount, and Johnny Month has a lot of experience in this league and in a system like the Jaguars run.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: quite a bit together, I would say, and they'll do a good job blocking for you and also be as James Gladstone put it after they signed those guys, you know, not negatives in the passing game, really good blockers and they're not negatives in the passing game, they can get something done for you in the passing game.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's the the path moving forward.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: You might rely passing game a little bit less on the tight end in terms of actually throwing them the football than you were with Brenton Strange who was kind of becoming like a
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: featured target and maybe the emergence of Brian Thomas Jr.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: having an 80-yard performance against the Kansas City Chiefs and the emergence of Travis Hunter who had 64 yards and obviously Parker Washington.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: getting things going a little bit, and Diami Brown, only missing one week, all these things coming together to where maybe it's not as big of a negative impact, just being able to pass the ball.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: You do lose that multiplicity, the versatility of defense is having to really worry about him as a blocker.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then now, as a receiver as well, Tim Patrick is someone who interestingly,
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: has struggled a little bit.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't got a lot of run so far for the Jaguars at receiver, but he was targeted last night and dropped the football, unfortunately, but he's somebody who has that blocking ability.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just thinking about like the different ways you can get versatility on the field with guys that can block and catch the ball.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Tim Patrick is one of those guys, but
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't really come up money last night only five snaps it's hard to get in rhythm and get comfortable and all that and establish chemistry and all that stuff when you're not really getting the reps but.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: You could potentially see more Tim Patrick.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: You'll definitely see more Hunter long.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Johnny Munt, maybe even Quentin Morris, who again is now in the active roster.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: I believe they signed Quentin Morris to the active roster because they kept calling him up from the practice squad and you can only do that so many times during the season.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they had used up all their callups for Quentin Morris, so they decided to add him to the active roster.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's just one of those roster math calculation, sort of deals there where you're trying to
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: not game the system but use every advantage that you can in terms of building the roster and so Quentin Morris is now on the active roster but coincidentally enough the day you get signed to the active roster Britain's change goes down on IR so he won't be on the active roster so that kind of clears the picture a little bit there so you have your three tight ends until Britain's change comes back when he comes back and
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Wilquett and Morris remain on the act of roster, what will they do there remains to be seen.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: But I do have a lot of confidence and Liam Cohen's ability to, coach around this, coach around this loss that they're gonna have for the next month.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: And make no mistake about it.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is a better football team with Britain's strange, but I think that this is a team that based on their coaching, based on their talent.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: has the ability to overcome some things like this.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: They have definitely not an easy road ahead.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: Hosting the Seattle Seahawks is upcoming weekend, going to London to host the Los Angeles Rams, then having a buy week, then you go play the Raiders who are not the best football team right now, certainly, and host the Chargers, I believe, is how the schedule goes for the Jaguars over the next month.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then he could be back after that.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you look at Seahawks Rams, Buy Week Raiders, Texans, 119,
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: which would be just over a month from now.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: So could he be back for the Texans?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he could definitely be back for the Chargers.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's where we're at, kind of, time-wise based on what Mike Garifolo is reporting.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: So unfortunate news, but your Jaguars are foreign one.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: They're in a great spot with their coaching, you know, rest up, heal up, Britain's strange, and get back right so you can get out there and kick some ass for the Jaguars.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
