- 0:00Hanan: Welcome back, everyone, to another episode of Obnoxiously Pleasant.
- 0:03Hanan: I'm Hannan.
- 0:04Hanan: I'm Lina.
- 0:06Hanan: Welcome back, everyone.
- 0:08Hanan: We hope you enjoyed the last like couple of episodes that we put out.
- 0:10Lina: I think they turned out well.
- 0:12Lina: I think they turned out well too.
- 0:13Lina: I really like them.
- 0:15Lina: I think so.
- 0:15Lina: I mean, that's my editing too.
- 0:17Lina: Yeah, so Lina this week.
- 0:19Hanan: I was like, oh my god, Lina, that that episode was so hilarious.
- 0:22Hanan: We were playing the whatever.
- 0:24Hanan: I want to call it Lyrically Challenged, but that's not what the game is called.
- 0:26Hanan: But that's what Lina is.
- 0:27Lina: That's true.
- 0:28Lina: Lyrically challenged.
- 0:29Lina: I'm not denying that.
- 0:30Lina: Yeah, and she goes, um, she goes, my great editing skills.
- 0:33Lina: That's me fishing for that's well, no.
- 0:36Lina: The thing is, though, I I took out like 15 minutes.
- 0:38Lina: Yeah, because there was a lot of stuff that some people just like ramble.
- 0:41Lina: Yeah, and it was boring as how I'm like, no, we're not doing this.
- 0:43Lina: It's fine.
- 0:44Lina: So yeah, lots of uh interesting things happened this week.
- 0:46Lina: I think so.
- 0:47Lina: I have some things to talk about.
- 0:49Lina: Tell me.
- 0:49Lina: Okay, you know how the last time when when we were filming last week, I told you I'm gonna go see the movie.
- 0:54Lina: Your mother, your mother, your mother.
- 0:56Lina: How was it?
- 0:56Lina: Hated it.
- 0:57Lina: Oh, really?
- 0:58Lina: I'm surprised.
- 0:59Lina: So disappointed.
- 1:00Lina: Oh, that sucks.
- 1:01Lina: The the thing that killed it for me was the subplot.
- 1:03Hanan: It was just horrible.
- 1:04Hanan: When I like get so like invest my time and go do something like this, and then I'm like, well, that was a waste of my time that I was never getting back.
- 1:11Lina: It was a waste.
- 1:12Lina: I mean, the movie theater was really nice, like we said, but the kids that movie theater bomb.
- 1:17Lina: The kids hated it.
- 1:17Lina: Really?
- 1:18Lina: I hated it.
- 1:18Lina: I mean, like you said, I don't, I mean, it's just it just it was just I don't want to ruin it for people who want to see it.
- 1:24Lina: Okay, call us.
- 1:24Lina: Next, next.
- 1:25Lina: No, no, no.
- 1:25Lina: The the acting was actually like some of the acting was amazing.
- 1:29Lina: Guys, I'm not picking my notes, it's just really easy.
- 1:31Lina: It's just the subplot was horrible.
- 1:33Lina: I hated it, I didn't like it.
- 1:34Lina: And then afterwards, we finally tried uh Ream Shawarma.
- 1:38Lina: Oh you went once?
- 1:40Hanan: I went once, but I didn't actually get to get any Shawirma because it was so crowded.
- 1:44Hanan: It was I hate when that, like when the hype gets built.
- 1:46Hanan: So like lately in our area, like in the DC Metro area, there's been all of these like new places popping up, like Shawitama places and food places, but really like have you noticed that there's like like a big thing on Shawitma, right?
- 1:58Hanan: And trucks, food like Shawitama trucks, all that stuff.
- 2:00Hanan: And so somebody goes, Oh, Ream Shawirma, try a reem Showerema.
- 2:04Hanan: It's a Jordanian chain.
- 2:04Hanan: It's called Shawirma Ream, I know it's called it.
- 2:06Hanan: Yeah, but it's it's like a Jordanian chain.
- 2:08Lina: Yeah, but like it's like the one in Jordan, like is amazing.
- 2:12Hanan: So I've never had it, but then I had I had a friend tell me, shout out, Susan.
- 2:17Hanan: She was like, It's not worth the hype, like it's not gonna be.
- 2:20Hanan: Okay, so I have to agree with Susan.
- 2:21Hanan: So we went.
- 2:22Hanan: The line was actually fine.
- 2:23Hanan: Oh my god, when we went, the line was long and they were out of Showdama.
- 2:26Hanan: Well, no, I had to- How does a Showdhima place one out of Showdama?
- 2:28Lina: I know they we we had to stock, we had to stand there to wait for people to get out of the chairs, but like the food, I mean, it took a while, it took like maybe 20, 30 minutes.
- 2:37Lina: It's fine, whatever.
- 2:39Lina: Um, the thing is, we got beef and we got chicken.
- 2:42Lina: Okay.
- 2:43Lina: I wasn't impressed with either.
- 2:46Hanan: Okay, that's it.
- 2:47Lina: Okay, now the beef, some people say it's much better than the chicken.
- 2:50Lina: And I'm not, I'm not really a beef person, but I wanted, I wanted to try it.
- 2:53Lina: Okay.
- 2:53Lina: And then the chicken, there was this like this and not aftertaste, but there was a spice that was in there that shouldn't be in there.
- 3:00Hanan: Yeah, sometimes I could see that.
- 3:02Lina: Yeah, so I mean, like in terms of cleanliness and whatever and the meat, it seems good.
- 3:07Hanan: I mean, when we walked in, everything seemed okay.
- 3:08Hanan: I was just mad because they were like out of beef show with hook.
- 3:11Hanan: It's not worth it.
- 3:11Hanan: And then they ran out of chicken and they're like, we'll have it again in 30 minutes.
- 3:13Hanan: I'm like, I'm not waiting for just to order my food.
- 3:16Lina: Yeah, it's definitely not one of the best.
- 3:19Lina: I'm sorry.
- 3:19Lina: Like the hype is way, it's like it's overhyped.
- 3:22Lina: Like the shorma I make at home is better.
- 3:23Lina: I'm sorry.
- 3:24Hanan: Um, no, I don't know about the shawarma you make at home, but there's definitely like really good shawma places that are around us.
- 3:30Lina: Okay, um, I still want to try f f Faruj Abu L Abid or something.
- 3:33Lina: That was okay.
- 3:34Hanan: I haven't, I haven't got it.
- 3:35Hanan: I feel like you have to eat it there.
- 3:36Hanan: Yeah, yeah, of course.
- 3:37Hanan: Like you have to eat it there.
- 3:38Hanan: Yeah, but that's what we did here.
- 3:39Hanan: But the we got also, there is a place called Beirut Bites.
- 3:42Hanan: It's a truck.
- 3:43Hanan: Yes, I love I love that.
- 3:45Hanan: That one is actually really good.
- 3:46Hanan: I mean, I'm telling you, like, it's funny because I've been I'm gonna show you this picture because I I think it's hilarious.
- 3:52Hanan: And you can insert it, but I've been like I wanted to take a picture of my sandwich when we went to uh Beirut Bites because we're always like like all of us, we're always on the hunt for like the best.
- 4:04Hanan: Yes, always the best show Irma sandwich.
- 4:06Hanan: But it was hilarious because I was like, oh, it's okay, we'll get like Beirut bites and it's gonna be amazing.
- 4:11Hanan: And then after I ate the sandwich, I was like, oh my god, I should have taken a picture.
- 4:14Hanan: And I ended up just taking a picture of the empty wrapper.
- 4:17Lina: Okay, so am I supposed to put a picture of the empty wrapper on it?
- 4:20Lina: Maybe.
- 4:21Lina: No, we'll just put a picture of the I mean, we don't have to put a picture, it's just it's we're talking about showirma.
- 4:25Hanan: Anyway, yeah, but look how delicious the Farooja Balab food was.
- 4:28Hanan: This is like the mixed grill.
- 4:29Hanan: Like it looks really good.
- 4:31Hanan: Was it good?
- 4:31Hanan: It was so good.
- 4:33Hanan: I really like that.
- 4:34Hanan: What'd you get?
- 4:34Hanan: I got the mixed grill kebab, yeah.
- 4:36Hanan: Like the mixed kebab or whatever.
- 4:37Lina: I think that's gonna be our next uh because I I refuse to wait in line.
- 4:40Lina: Like with this one when we went.
- 4:41Lina: Yeah, man.
- 4:42Lina: You're like, I don't want to do that.
- 4:43Hanan: Like, I don't want to all that time for just like some freaking food.
- 4:48Hanan: Like, I just want to eat my food.
- 4:49Hanan: Oh, here we go.
- 4:51Hanan: Oh, I never tried their beef.
- 4:52Hanan: I always get the chicken.
- 4:54Hanan: So delicious.
- 4:54Hanan: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:55Hanan: But look, we got both and yeah, we got we got both, and it was that really scared me.
- 5:01Hanan: Okay, it's okay, it's good, it's good, it's fine.
- 5:03Hanan: Nothing happened.
- 5:04Hanan: All right, did you see me freak out?
- 5:06Hanan: I was like, yeah, like you see.
- 5:07Hanan: It's gonna fall apart.
- 5:08Hanan: Okay.
- 5:08Hanan: But I mean, honestly, the friggin' light thing fell and it shook the light and the camera.
- 5:13Hanan: And the camera, but it's okay, guys.
- 5:14Hanan: Oh my god.
- 5:15Hanan: So I had to like stop and go get my crown because today is like our Halloween episode.
- 5:21Hanan: Okay.
- 5:21Hanan: And Lina's like, we're not doing a Halloween episode, but I didn't really get a costume, but I have this like awesome crown that I'm wearing, and it's my homage to Halloween.
- 5:29Lina: Okay.
- 5:29Lina: Speaking of Halloween, yeah.
- 5:31Hanan: So yesterday we were um Oh my god, do you want me to show you something really scary?
- 5:34Hanan: Speaking of Halloween.
- 5:35Hanan: Okay.
- 5:35Hanan: So I went to get a hair, I went to get a blow dry, right?
- 5:38Hanan: Okay.
- 5:38Hanan: And right outside the salon.
- 5:40Hanan: Are you ready for this?
- 5:41Hanan: Because you said Halloween.
- 5:42Hanan: We'll insert a picture, right?
- 5:44Hanan: Are you ready?
- 5:45Hanan: Literally outside, mind you, this is an area that is oh, you'll be really scared when you say this.
- 5:50Hanan: This is an area that is so populated, buildings everywhere.
- 5:54Hanan: Okay, right?
- 5:55Hanan: And then I see this guy.
- 6:00Lina: You're such a Halloween! Why would you do that?
- 6:02Lina: Why?
- 6:03Lina: I don't want to I don't want to look at it.
- 6:04Hanan: Why?
- 6:06Hanan: Is that real?
- 6:07Hanan: Yes.
- 6:08Lina: Oh my god.
- 6:09Hanan: It was crawling and slithering everyone.
- 6:11Lina: Stop.
- 6:12Lina: Just don't show it to me anymore.
- 6:13Lina: Do not show it to me.
- 6:15Lina: Stop.
- 6:15Hanan: How are you not freaking out?
- 6:17Hanan: It is the Halloween episode.
- 6:19Lina: I don't even want to touch your phone.
- 6:21Lina: I don't even want to touch your phone.
- 6:22Lina: It was literally sitting right on top of it.
- 6:24Lina: I don't want you.
- 6:24Lina: Now I have to freaking look at it when I edit.
- 6:26Lina: Okay, what am I supposed to do?
- 6:27Lina: I hate you.
- 6:28Hanan: You said I I said I'd show you something scary, and you said okay.
- 6:31Lina: Okay, I guess this is payback for the time that I scared you.
- 6:34Lina: Remember that one time?
- 6:35Hanan: I think it's perfect.
- 6:36Hanan: But yeah, you're like, she'll insert the picture in here.
- 6:38Lina: That is so gross.
- 6:40Lina: Right?
- 6:41Hanan: That is so gross.
- 6:41Hanan: So imagine walking out and it's right there.
- 6:44Hanan: I almost stepped on it.
- 6:45Hanan: I'm not even kidding.
- 6:46Hanan: I literally almost stepped on it.
- 6:47Lina: Okay, okay, okay, I'm done.
- 6:48Hanan: I'm done.
- 6:49Lina: Okay, so you asked me if I had something to talk about.
- 6:53unknown: Okay.
- 6:55Hanan: So Halloween, Halloween related.
- 6:58Hanan: I mean, I had to scare you.
- 6:59Hanan: It is Halloween.
- 7:00Hanan: Okay.
- 7:01Hanan: You're sure that's real?
- 7:02Hanan: Yes, 100%.
- 7:03Hanan: Well, it was like slithering away.
- 7:04Hanan: Okay.
- 7:05Hanan: It was like just Okay.
- 7:07Lina: Yesterday.
- 7:08Lina: So they're like work is bringing food because like people are working.
- 7:11Lina: There's people from overseas, whatever.
- 7:13Hanan: Oh, like yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:14Lina: Because like, yeah, so they're catering food and stuff.
- 7:16Lina: Okay, so we're standing in line.
- 7:18Lina: And there's a colleague of mine who's with uh uh a sister station.
- 7:23Lina: He that doesn't work with uh with uh in my department.
- 7:26Lina: Yeah.
- 7:27Lina: So he's there, he's from New Zealand, very nice guy.
- 7:30Lina: Amazing, yeah, very sweet guy, very nice.
- 7:33Lina: Um, so we're standing and they're talking about Halloween with another guy I know.
- 7:36Hanan: I mean, it's already scary enough.
- 7:37Hanan: He had to travel here from New Zealand.
- 7:39Lina: No, no, no, no, no, he's been here.
- 7:40Lina: He got moved.
- 7:41Lina: Okay, gotta get it.
- 7:42Lina: I was like, he came here for the midterm at least he's from New Zealand.
- 7:44Lina: He's now in America, hold us.
- 7:45Lina: Like he lives.
- 7:46Lina: He he he got here like maybe five months ago.
- 7:48Lina: Okay.
- 7:48Lina: All right.
- 7:48Lina: So we're talking, he's like, oh my god, it's my first Halloween, you know, and his accent.
- 7:52Lina: And I'm like, oh, that's nice.
- 7:54Lina: You know, I'm trying not to rain on his parents.
- 7:56Lina: He's like, it's my first, it's my first Halloween.
- 7:58Hanan: Should have given him my number.
- 8:00Lina: Hold on a second.
- 8:00Lina: He's like, I'm making, um, like he has a he has a condo, he just got a condo, and he's really excited.
- 8:04Lina: I'm like, and he's like, I got a smoke machine.
- 8:06Lina: I'm like, wait, because I was like, Do you live in your in a in a townhouse?
- 8:09Lina: You have to know it's a condo.
- 8:10Lina: And he's like, I'm like, oh, you're having a party.
- 8:12Lina: He's like, Yeah, in the beginning, it's just gonna be board games.
- 8:14Lina: Like, he's so excited about it.
- 8:16Lina: And then he's like, and then we're gonna do the the more adult stuff.
- 8:19Lina: And I'm like, he's like, Do you want to see my my costume?
- 8:21Lina: And I'm just like, man, you have no idea how you pick the wrong person, but he's so sweet.
- 8:27Lina: I'm like, fine, show me.
- 8:28Lina: And then this is why I hate Halloween.
- 8:30Lina: When he showed me his costume, it's a costume like an adult baby costume.
- 8:36Lina: And I looked at him, I'm like, dude, this is creepy.
- 8:39Lina: And he's like, no, no, it's not.
- 8:41Lina: And I'm like, it is creepy.
- 8:42Lina: I think he just picked the wrong person.
- 8:44Lina: Okay, no, and I was trying to be supportive.
- 8:46Hanan: And like, mine's cute.
- 8:48Hanan: That's all I did.
- 8:48Hanan: No, yours is fine.
- 8:49Hanan: Mine is just like like a princess crown.
- 8:51Lina: No, so I was hating on him.
- 8:52Lina: He's like, How can you hate Halloween?
- 8:54Lina: I'm like, I don't like Halloween.
- 8:55Lina: Okay, so today he sees me again.
- 8:57Lina: This was yesterday.
- 8:57Lina: Today he sees me, and then I recorded him.
- 8:59Lina: I'm like, no, you gotta say that again.
- 9:01Lina: And I'm gonna show you what he said.
- 9:03Lina: Hold on.
- 9:04Lina: It's so funny.
- 9:05Lina: And is he okay with being on the podcast?
- 9:06Lina: He's like, Oh my god, you have a podcast?
- 9:07Lina: And his I can't even do the X.
- 9:09Lina: He's like, You have a podcast, and I'm like, Yeah, he's like, So I'm like, no, if I I won't send it to you unless I decide to put you in the podcast, then I will send you.
- 9:16Lina: Okay, okay, ready?
- 9:18Lina: Okay.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: So, what I'm saying is that I am fully leaning into Halloween.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I bought a fucking machine, I bought a poseable five-foot skeleton because New Zealand withheld this from here.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: And now I'm in America.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I want to do the full, I want to go full, full force.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: The fact that you're not into that breaks my heart a little bit.
- 9:35Lina: So I should probably move to New Zealand then.
- 9:37Lina: I'd feel more at home.
- 9:40Lina: Do you want to tell us what your what your costume?
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm gonna go as a giant human baby.
- 9:45Lina: See, that's what's wrong with the world.
- 9:48Lina: Yes.
- 9:49Lina: Okay, all right.
- 9:50Lina: I'm a poster.
- 9:51Lina: Serious, serious judges.
- 9:52Hanan: I'm a poster.
- 9:53Hanan: See?
- 9:54Hanan: Yeah.
- 9:54Hanan: I love that he said, I'm in America now, so I'm leaning full thoughts into Halloween.
- 9:58Lina: Yeah, and you know the thing is the way he uh, because you know he's not in my department.
- 10:02Lina: Yeah, so he he's very sweet.
- 10:04Lina: And so he's like very perky.
- 10:05Lina: Yeah.
- 10:06Lina: Okay, he's very happy, he's very excited to be there, and I'm happy for him.
- 10:09Lina: Okay.
- 10:10Hanan: Because obviously he doesn't know when he talks to Lina that he is talking to, you know, he's like, he doesn't know that he has opened, honestly, the doors to Narnia, but it's not all of Narnia.
- 10:20Hanan: It's just a sad, depressed part of it.
- 10:22Hanan: No, no, no.
- 10:22Hanan: But here's the thing.
- 10:23Lina: No, no, tell me what I really respected about him is because he he would see me walking in the hall and he's like, Hey, how are you?
- 10:28Lina: Like, hi, how are you?
- 10:29Lina: Like, oh, that's really nice.
- 10:30Lina: Like he didn't know you?
- 10:31Lina: No.
- 10:31Lina: Oh, that's awesome.
- 10:32Lina: And then and then one time I was like, I'm okay, I'm good.
- 10:35Lina: And then he's like, and then he's like, Can I ask you something?
- 10:37Lina: And I'm like, Yeah, sure.
- 10:38Lina: And then he's like, in America, when I ask people, how are you?
- 10:41Lina: They just say, Good, how are you?
- 10:43Lina: and keep walking.
- 10:43Lina: And I'm like, Yeah.
- 10:44Lina: And then he's like, that's really strange.
- 10:46Lina: I agree with him.
- 10:47Lina: And then he's like, nobody like has a conversation.
- 10:49Lina: And I'm like, I get it.
- 10:50Hanan: Because in his where he comes from, where people are nice, unlike here, um, he's probably saying, Hi, how are you?
- 10:57Hanan: Expecting a hey, how are you?
- 10:59Hanan: What's your name?
- 10:59Hanan: Yeah, when did you get here?
- 11:01Hanan: How long have you been here?
- 11:02Hanan: And so I kind of agree with him.
- 11:03Hanan: Like, and I appreciated, yeah.
- 11:05Hanan: I wish people were more friends.
- 11:07Hanan: I really do think like this is a huge problem that we have, like as adults, and this is why adults in America have a hard time forging friendships, right?
- 11:14Hanan: Because you get to a workplace and people are just assholes.
- 11:18Hanan: Like they really are.
- 11:19Hanan: Like you could be starting somewhere new.
- 11:21Hanan: And I've been very lucky that like the last few places I've been, I've been there with people I've already known.
- 11:26Hanan: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:26Hanan: So you don't really have to build friendships or anything, but it's so hard to come into a place and not know anybody because, like, like this poor guy, he moved from a whole other country.
- 11:34Lina: Yeah, but he's I really appreciated that because it takes courage, especially here.
- 11:38Lina: So he was like, I just, I'm just curious.
- 11:40Lina: He's like, Why doesn't anyone just stop?
- 11:42Lina: He's like, I say, How are you?
- 11:43Lina: And they say good, thank you.
- 11:44Lina: And they like, how are you?
- 11:45Lina: And keep walking.
- 11:46Lina: He's like, There's nobody stops, nobody talks.
- 11:48Hanan: I honestly would I honestly would like if it was me and I saw somebody like that, I would be like, Hey, how are you?
- 11:52Hanan: No, no, and that we've met before.
- 11:54Hanan: I would, I, I would literally usually meet like me as Hanan when I'm in a place and I see somebody for the first time and they're like, Hey, how are you?
- 11:59Hanan: I'm like, Hey, how are you?
- 12:00Hanan: I don't think we've met before.
- 12:01Hanan: My name is Hanan, it's nice to meet you, and we'll have a little bit of a conversation.
- 12:05Hanan: Because nine times out of ten, that person is looking for someone to do that.
- 12:08Lina: Yeah, no, he's really sweet, and I really appreciate and you know me.
- 12:10Lina: I'm not that type, but like he was so no, no, he is really sweet.
- 12:16Lina: I'm like, no, I can't be like so.
- 12:18Hanan: Now that I now that I scared you and now that you showed me your Halloween.
- 12:21Hanan: I can't believe that.
- 12:21Lina: But what's the um what's next on your list?
- 12:23Lina: What's next on my list?
- 12:24Lina: Let me see.
- 12:25Lina: I don't know if I have.
- 12:25Hanan: And we all figured out that Lina's not super friendly and like we didn't know that.
- 12:28Lina: Okay, whatever.
- 12:29Lina: But I'm nice to him because he's really sweet.
- 12:31Lina: I can't, like, if I was gonna be mean to him, then I'd be a total bitch.
- 12:33Lina: Yeah, no, no, he seems to be nice.
- 12:35Lina: Yeah.
- 12:35Lina: Um have you seen uh what what was it?
- 12:40Lina: People's uh sexy sexiest man of the year.
- 12:44Hanan: No, it's people, right?
- 12:45Hanan: They do that.
- 12:46Hanan: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 12:46Hanan: The people magazine, yes.
- 12:48Lina: Do you know who it is?
- 12:49Lina: No.
- 12:50Lina: Noah Wiley.
- 12:52Lina: Who is that?
- 12:53Hanan: Seriously?
- 12:54Hanan: Yeah.
- 12:56Lina: The guy from the pit.
- 12:57Lina: I don't even know what that is.
- 12:58Lina: You've never seen The Pit?
- 12:59Lina: No.
- 13:00Lina: Okay, I'm just mad because he's a Zionist.
- 13:02Lina: Oh but he looks ugly too.
- 13:03Lina: Like, you couldn't find this guy, except this guy.
- 13:05Lina: I mean, I don't know.
- 13:06Hanan: I think you don't know who Noah Wiley is?
- 13:08Hanan: No, I'm gonna be really objective, so show me a picture.
- 13:10Hanan: I have no idea, you guys.
- 13:11Hanan: The last time like I read People's Sexiest Man Alive, it was like Denzel Washington or something.
- 13:16Hanan: Okay, this is an old picture.
- 13:18Hanan: No, this is I know this guy.
- 13:20Lina: From ER.
- 13:21Lina: Oh, yeah, okay, I know this guy.
- 13:22Lina: I know this guy.
- 13:23Lina: Yeah, but he's he's the pit.
- 13:25Lina: You haven't seen the pit?
- 13:26Lina: No, and why is he people's sexiest man alive?
- 13:28Lina: I have no idea.
- 13:29Lina: It's her it's horrible.
- 13:30Lina: It's like I feel like someone paid.
- 13:31Lina: I thank God that he grew a beard because this is horrendous.
- 13:36Hanan: Sorry.
- 13:37Hanan: And I'm oh my god.
- 13:39Hanan: You know how they say like, okay, okay, you know how like men are always saying, like, oh, it's not fair because women look different with makeup.
- 13:46Hanan: I mean, you guys have beards, and honestly, this is a prime example.
- 13:50Hanan: Like, this is a bait and switch.
- 13:52Hanan: Like, if I if I met this guy like this, right?
- 13:56Hanan: And it's doable, it's okay.
- 14:02Hanan: I would pack my back and I would leave that relationship.
- 14:04Lina: I know.
- 14:05Lina: I don't know why they did.
- 14:06Lina: I mean, like when he was younger, no, but like he he No, Lina, I don't care.
- 14:10Lina: The beard is like makeup.
- 14:12Lina: It's not just that he he should not be of all the men out there.
- 14:16Hanan: Here's my thing, like, right?
- 14:17Hanan: I don't even care about people's sexy as an analysis.
- 14:19Hanan: Of course, none of us do, but like I just I don't I don't care about forget that whole story.
- 14:22Hanan: I don't care if he's a Zionist or not.
- 14:24Hanan: That should like I'm just hung up on the beard.
- 14:27Lina: Tell me I'm crazy.
- 14:29Lina: And apparently he's an asshole on set, too.
- 14:31Lina: Like, I'm not even careful about any of that.
- 14:32Hanan: I just I'm upset about this.
- 14:34Lina: I'm upset about this beard situation.
- 14:36Hanan: And like it, and the people who voted in in people's magazines, Sexiest Man Alive, was it with or without a beard?
- 14:42Hanan: With a beard.
- 14:43Hanan: Okay, exactly.
- 14:44Hanan: Thank you.
- 14:45Hanan: But even with the beard, why is he sexiest man of the year?
- 14:48Hanan: Forget the sexiest man.
- 14:49Hanan: I'm just saying, like, without the beard, he wouldn't have even been in the running.
- 14:53Hanan: I know.
- 14:53Hanan: Anyways, next story.
- 14:55Lina: Um, let me see.
- 14:56Lina: I don't think I have anything else.
- 14:57Lina: Okay, well, that was that was a great time.
- 14:59Lina: Um the I'm happy for Brazil.
- 15:04Lina: I'm happy for Serbia.
- 15:05Hanan: Me too.
- 15:06Lina: Okay, very like proud.
- 15:08Lina: That's awesome.
- 15:08Lina: Like, that gave me some hope.
- 15:10Hanan: Yeah, I'm like, get it, young people, get it, people in other countries who are like no to corruption, no to this BS that we're all experiencing.
- 15:16Hanan: I'm very happy about that.
- 15:18Lina: Yeah, me too.
- 15:18Lina: And then, like, obviously, you saw the post I posted for RFK, that piece of shit.
- 15:22Lina: Um, such a hater.
- 15:24Lina: Sometimes I'm like, like all of but this goes back to the conversation that we had.
- 15:29Hanan: I get I I see these things, and I'm just like, how could America be this like degenerate, you guys?
- 15:36Lina: I don't know about I don't think it's America.
- 15:38Lina: I think it's this administration and anyone affiliated with it.
- 15:41Lina: But but the thing is, last week when we were talking about the midterm.
- 15:45Lina: Speaking of degenerate, did you see the new White House press secretary?
- 15:48Lina: No.
- 15:49Lina: Who is it?
- 15:50Hanan: So you saw the Katie, whatever her name is, Zachariah or whatever, right?
- 15:53Hanan: Is that her name, right?
- 15:54Hanan: So you saw Yeah, of course.
- 15:56Hanan: Okay, and then there was another woman that came after her.
- 15:58Hanan: No, yeah, hold on.
- 15:59Hanan: I'm absolutely sure.
- 16:00Hanan: Dude, how do we not know this?
- 16:02Hanan: I don't know.
- 16:03Lina: No, I mean, I heard he was thinking of hiring Nicki Manaj.
- 16:06Hanan: Oh my god, that would be so it's her, and then there was another like super booby woman.
- 16:13Lina: No, Hanan, nobody, nobody officially.
- 16:15Lina: I would know.
- 16:15Hanan: I would know.
- 16:16Lina: It's not anybody official?
- 16:17Lina: No, no, no, it's nobody, it hasn't been official.
- 16:19Hanan: Are you what so it's like so so he was okay?
- 16:22Hanan: So here's what I was thinking.
- 16:23Hanan: It was the business uh Fox News anchor Maria Bartu Romo.
- 16:27Hanan: Okay, right?
- 16:28Hanan: And she had already turned on the offer.
- 16:30Lina: Okay, but she didn't, no one actually took the okay.
- 16:32Lina: That's what I thought.
- 16:33Lina: Yeah, no, but I'm hearing Nicki Minaj.
- 16:36Hanan: No, yeah.
- 16:37Hanan: I mean, that would be I'm again that would be that would be so interesting.
- 16:40Lina: Um, what was I saying before this?
- 16:42Lina: I don't know.
- 16:42Hanan: Paramount pause, guys.
- 16:44Hanan: No, I don't know what we were talking about.
- 16:45Lina: Oh my god.
- 16:46Lina: I know what worked.
- 16:47Lina: Okay, yes, yeah.
- 16:48Lina: Remember that this is really bad.
- 16:50Lina: This is amazing.
- 16:51Lina: It's normal.
- 16:52Lina: Yeah, that's literally what our conversation is always.
- 16:53Lina: Yeah, that's uh literally what I send Henan and Dana and Real is like us.
- 16:58Hanan: But honestly, you guys, if you think about it, so I saw this, I saw this clip just to Omniki Minaj before we go back to RFK of her at the last like press conference that Trump did.
- 17:08Hanan: And she was like rally, you mean?
- 17:10Hanan: What is it?
- 17:10Hanan: It was a rally, a rally, thank you.
- 17:12Hanan: Yeah, not a private conference, thank you.
- 17:13Hanan: A rally, and it was hilarious because I'm like, she's standing up there and she was saying, I support President Trump because we want to keep our children safe.
- 17:21Hanan: And you know, talking about, you know, like the she obviously she was like allegations against her husband.
- 17:27Hanan: Well, uh you know what?
- 17:28Hanan: Even put that aside, I'm just like, she's obviously like against like you know, like she's against anything that's not clearly male or clearly female, which I'm just like, everybody gets to pick whatever path they want, like stop.
- 17:39Hanan: And then, but the fact that she's standing up next to like somebody who is been mentioned a lot in the Epstein files for this type of stuff, and then she's saying, I'm here because I want to keep our children safe, like I'm just like, what twilight zone, what crazy town world are we living in?
- 18:00Lina: It's a cult, Hanan.
- 18:01Lina: It's a cult.
- 18:02Lina: There's no like there's no logic or le reason with these people.
- 18:06Lina: I'm sorry.
- 18:07Lina: It's like you're if you still support this person after everything that's happened and after everything that we know, yeah, I'm sorry, it's a cult.
- 18:15Lina: Agree.
- 18:15Lina: That's it.
- 18:16Lina: There's no explanation for it.
- 18:17Lina: Okay.
- 18:18Lina: Yeah.
- 18:18Lina: Um, going back to RFK, when we last week, when we were talking about Abdel Sayyid and the Mitterrands.
- 18:23Lina: I gotta undo this.
- 18:24Hanan: I have a big hedgey graph.
- 18:25Hanan: It's really tight.
- 18:26Hanan: It's these ribbons that you tie, but like I can't I can't do it anymore.
- 18:29Hanan: So go ahead.
- 18:31Lina: I love how she's like all uh with my fake ribbons and hair.
- 18:34Lina: Yeah, go ahead.
- 18:34Hanan: Okay.
- 18:35Lina: Um I was just saying that this is part of the anti-Muslim uh rhetoric and anti-Arab rhetoric and trying to, you know, divide people and scare people, like fear-mongering.
- 18:46Lina: Okay, like why would you okay?
- 18:47Lina: You're at an event to I was I think he was at an event to um like get support.
- 18:53Lina: I don't understand.
- 18:54Lina: Yeah, I agree.
- 18:55Lina: You're the human and health services secretary, okay?
- 18:59Lina: Why are you talking?
- 19:00Lina: I mean, like I I just I mean, and to get your information so wrong, to get it so wrong, you are so ignorant.
- 19:06Hanan: Okay, and then and then like and then the ignorant part doesn't surprise me because also like just like you're saying, the anti-Muslim rhetoric.
- 19:13Hanan: Like I saw a uh what's his name, Ted Cruz, with his like weird ass beard that he's wearing.
- 19:18Hanan: That's probably the only human in the world that the beard doesn't work for.
- 19:20Hanan: I'm like, you are bordering on werewolf of the thing.
- 19:24Hanan: But he was talking about, he's like, Do you know what my new name for him is?
- 19:27Hanan: It's jihadist leprachon.
- 19:28Hanan: And I'm like, are you see?
- 19:30Lina: Yes, he has the nerve to say to call out and say leprachan.
- 19:33Hanan: Dude, you're ugly as fuck.
- 19:35Hanan: But the fact that the the constantly tying him to the Muslim Brotherhood to calling him a jihadist, using all of these words like fear mongering.
- 19:43Hanan: Like scaring people.
- 19:44Hanan: And I'm just like, whatever, if I was in Michigan, you wouldn't get my vote.
- 19:47Lina: 100%.
- 19:48Lina: Okay, I mean, like, listen, I have some some questions.
- 19:51Lina: Okay, but at the same time, if I'm picking between these two, I'm picking Abdel Sayyid.
- 19:55Lina: Exactly.
- 19:56Hanan: I am not picking Rick Rogers.
- 19:57Lina: Anyway, um, RFK.
- 20:00Lina: Uh, I had something to say, and then I completely lost it because Hana, you know, whatever.
- 20:04Lina: She always interrupts me.
- 20:06Hanan: Welcome to my to a ride.
- 20:07Hanan: Like to do it.
- 20:07Lina: Dude, we're really like paramenopausal.
- 20:09Lina: No, yes, this is causing, this is causing no, this it's fine.
- 20:12Lina: I'm fine with it.
- 20:13Lina: Yeah, it's a natural uh uh art of life.
- 20:15Lina: Yes, absolutely.
- 20:16Lina: But I'm saying, like, it affects us.
- 20:18Lina: Yeah, I mean, but it's okay.
- 20:19Lina: Anyway, fuck RFK.
- 20:20Lina: Oh, this is what I wanted to say.
- 20:22Lina: So some people, no, no, besides that.
- 20:24Lina: Um, so when I made that post, we're like, oh, you shouldn't justify.
- 20:27Lina: I'm like, no, I'm not justifying.
- 20:28Lina: I'm like, I'm not being defensive.
- 20:30Lina: We need to, like, if he's an idiot, okay.
- 20:32Lina: Education.
- 20:33Lina: This is being educational.
- 20:34Lina: Okay.
- 20:34Lina: And these are just, I just picked like one from each kind of like um, I tried each decade, decade, but I'm just like, whatever.
- 20:42Lina: This is like the bare minimum.
- 20:43Hanan: Dude, Arab Americans have some of the most celebrated like contributions to uh American culture, society, the medical field, political, like everywhere.
- 20:53Hanan: And the fact that he's gonna go out and undermine all of that, sadly, he has a platform and this is how he chooses to use it.
- 21:01Hanan: I mean, I can just think alone, like, I don't even have to go back decades.
- 21:04Hanan: I can just think of some of my friends, some of the folks that we've had, like, you know, like Jamana, who we had on the podcast.
- 21:12Hanan: I mean, this is somebody, this woman has a PhD in drug-resistant bacteria.
- 21:17Hanan: Like, what are you talking about?
- 21:18Hanan: We don't have who, by the way, right, used to be with Health and Human Services up until this administration.
- 21:24Hanan: So, shout out to Jamana because she's out there doing the Lord's work.
- 21:27Hanan: We need more people like her.
- 21:28Hanan: No, no, no, but that's it, but that's that's what I mean.
- 21:30Hanan: Like, I don't even need to look.
- 21:31Hanan: I could just look at my in my group of friends, and there are so many like smart Arab Americans with with just phenomenal contributions to this country.
- 21:41Hanan: And then this, you know, piece of shit.
- 21:44Hanan: Exactly.
- 21:44Lina: No, but like, and then someone someone commented, oh, what about like all these Lebanese, um, like like you know, they mentioned Khalil Jibran, and I kept it very basic to like science and literature because that's what he was bitching about.
- 21:56Lina: Okay.
- 21:57Lina: But yeah, yeah, there's so many.
- 21:59Lina: We I mean, I don't know, man.
- 22:00Hanan: It's just But when you talk about when he sits and he talks about science, you literally, literally pushed people out of this administration, like well-educated Arab Americans who made like made it their life's work to do better for the masses, and you push them out of their jobs.
- 22:20Hanan: So, like, I don't know where he's off to like where he's where where he can even get off to say this kind of stuff, but also again, like well, he's got a worm in his in in his brain and he snorted Coke off of toilet seats.
- 22:30Lina: So whatever.
- 22:31Lina: You know, he can go F himself.
- 22:33Lina: Exactly.
- 22:33Lina: I really hope, I really hope, you know, on Tuesday people go out and vote.
- 22:38Lina: Yes, okay, please.
- 22:40Lina: Get rid of these these.
- 22:44Hanan: Okay.
- 22:45Hanan: How does that's fine?
- 22:46Hanan: Yeah, here.
- 22:47Hanan: Yeah, you're good.
- 22:47Hanan: Okay, but now that I took off my crown and I can be serious, okay.
- 22:51Hanan: Tuesday, November 3rd is the midterm elections.
- 22:53Hanan: Yes.
- 22:54Hanan: This is a huge uh like uh event, especially in the time that we live in where you can actually affect real change in this country.
- 23:03Hanan: We need to stop, like we need we need to stop allowing these people to continue to like seize us by the balls because that's how they have us right now.
- 23:13Hanan: No, but it's true.
- 23:14Hanan: Like, I'm sick and tired of it.
- 23:16Hanan: I'm done.
- 23:17Hanan: We've had four, like the last two years have been a egregious act against the American people.
- 23:23Hanan: Okay.
- 23:24Hanan: Even those honestly who voted for this current administration are sad that they did.
- 23:29Hanan: So this is the time to take it back.
- 23:33Hanan: If you have options where it's bad and worse, like I mean, I'm not gonna tell you what to do.
- 23:39Hanan: I'm just gonna tell you like use your voice.
- 23:42Hanan: Use your voice.
- 23:42Hanan: I'm not gonna tell you who to go vote for.
- 23:45Hanan: None of these things, but just vote.
- 23:47Hanan: Vote, use your voice.
- 23:49Hanan: We cannot like it's insane to me because because interest is at an all-time high, inflation is at an all-time high, uh, uh food costs, gas prices, everything.
- 23:59Hanan: Oh my god, even unemployment.
- 24:01Hanan: Yeah, even unemployment is at an all-time high.
- 24:03Hanan: Like, we cannot continue living like this.
- 24:06Hanan: So please get out, vote, make your voice heard, and we'll see you next time.
- 24:12Hanan: And and you know, like, I mean, yes, yeah.
- 24:14Hanan: And then I think there's also the next time they see us will be after the elections.
- 24:18Lina: Yeah.
- 24:18Hanan: We'll have so much to talk about.
- 24:20Hanan: And shocking.
- 24:20Hanan: And briefly, she has a very busy week coming up.
- 24:23Lina: Yeah.
- 24:23Hanan: She's probably gonna sleep in the office on Tuesday.
- 24:25Hanan: No, no, no, I'm not gonna do that.
- 24:26Lina: Whatever.
- 24:27Lina: I'm too old for that.
- 24:28Lina: You never know.
- 24:28Lina: The younger, the younger generation.
- 24:30Lina: You never know.
- 24:31Lina: You might have to work some overtime.
- 24:33Lina: Um, again, I just keep losing my train of thought.
- 24:36Lina: And thank you.
- 24:36Lina: I'm just, it's not my day today.
- 24:38Lina: You're welcome.
- 24:38Lina: It's not my day.
- 24:39Lina: Um anything else?
- 24:40Lina: Are you good?
- 24:40Lina: I had something to say about the election, but you know, that's it.
- 24:43Lina: It's the the ship has sailed, guys.
- 24:45Lina: It's gone.
- 24:45Lina: Death thought is gone.
- 24:46Lina: Okay, that's fine.
- 24:47Hanan: Well, we'll see you guys after the midterms.
- 24:49Hanan: We'll have so much to talk about.
- 24:51Hanan: Yes, inshallah.
- 24:52Hanan: Have a good time.
- 24:53Hanan: Hopefully it's good news.
- 24:55Hanan: I'm over it.
- 24:56Hanan: I'm over it.
- 24:57Lina: I just love saying that to her because she's like, I'm over it.
- 24:59Lina: It's not about belief system.
- 25:00Lina: I'm just like, yeah, halas khalsoona.
- 25:02Lina: Yeah.
- 25:02Lina: Yeah.
- 25:02Lina: All right.
- 25:03Lina: All right.
- 25:03Lina: We'll see you guys next week.
- 25:04Lina: Inshallah.
