- 0:06Carmen Lezeth: Hi everyone.
- 0:06Carmen Lezeth: Welcome to All About the Joy.
- 0:08Carmen Lezeth: The private lounge In the house is Cynthia Lopez and Rick Costa.
- 0:13Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry, cynthia Lopez Ruiz.
- 0:18Carmen Lezeth: It's okay, it's okay, I know, and Rick Costa's in the house, how are you guys doing Doing good?
- 0:22Carmen Lezeth: I know, and Rick Costa's in the house, how are you guys doing Doing good, doing good.
- 0:27Carmen Lezeth: So we just want to give a shout out to Mario and Alma.
- 0:31Carmen Lezeth: We miss them.
- 0:32Carmen Lezeth: We look forward to having them back when they're able to return, but they are still part of the neighborhood, so I know people have missed them, so I just want to throw that out there.
- 0:41Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so I wanted to talk a little bit today just about a glitch in the matrix, and I know this is kind of weird, but I know you guys are on TikTok and for those of you who are not on TikTok, it doesn't matter, I'm sure you've seen this.
- 0:55Carmen Lezeth: The other night I haven't been feeling well, so I've been kind of up at different hours or whatever, and I did the doom scroll, right, the TikTok doom scroll and I came across this TikToker and he was like stop, stop, stop, don't, don't, don't, keep scrolling.
- 1:11Carmen Lezeth: If this video found you, then it was meant to be, and he goes down this whole thing.
- 1:16Carmen Lezeth: He's like this is what's going to happen, and I can feel it because of the runes and the this and the tarot and the whatever I was in it.
- 1:24Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Let me tell you I was like yes, oh my God, yes, I was like she was definitely tired.
- 1:33Carmen Lezeth: But he went on for like the whole 10 minutes reading cards and I don't even know what runes are, but I learned those stones or whatever.
- 1:40Carmen Lezeth: And he's going on and on and I was like you know what?
- 1:44Carmen Lezeth: This is why I was sick.
- 1:45Carmen Lezeth: I needed to see.
- 1:46Carmen Lezeth: This is the message the universe sends me, a message, so I go to scroll to the next one, and it's yet another person.
- 1:58Rick Costa: The algorithm she likes to Right.
- 2:01Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: We're going to throw a wall at her.
- 2:04Carmen Lezeth: But she was talking about astrology.
- 2:06Carmen Lezeth: She's like are you a Capricorn?
- 2:07Carmen Lezeth: I'm like I'm a Capricorn.
- 2:09Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you, it took me about another 60 seconds to realize like the algorithm is so messing with me how much of that night curl did you take?
- 2:26Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: The algorithm is so messing with me.
- 2:27Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: How much?
- 2:28Carmen Lezeth: of that night, curl did you take.
- 2:30Carmen Lezeth: But it got me thinking about all of these different things, superstitions and astrology and I just wanted to know how you guys felt about it.
- 2:40Carmen Lezeth: Do you guys believe in certain things?
- 2:43Carmen Lezeth: Do you have any feelings about it?
- 2:46Carmen Lezeth: Do you guys believe in certain things?
- 2:47Carmen Lezeth: Do you have any feelings about it?
- 2:48Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: and, rick, especially with you regarding religion, how it might intertwine or not or whatever so with me, like I think we had this conversation before carmen with um astrology, like your capricorn on pisces and like all the characteristics and things like that, and I I'm so for astrology, like I, I used to read it almost every day.
- 3:11Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I don't anymore, but, um, every now and then I'll read it and I'm like, oh yeah, I'm like that's happened already this week.
- 3:18Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Oh, this is what I have, so do you mean a horoscope, you mean?
- 3:22Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: theoscope.
- 3:22Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah and stuff like that and comparing people's characteristics with how they really are, and things like that.
- 3:32Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Sometimes I do believe in it.
- 3:34Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I've kind of been iffy with it lately, really, yeah, but before I was so into it every day reading my horse.
- 3:49Carmen Lezeth: Well, when I was like 13 I used to be like, oh my god, I know he loves me.
- 3:53Carmen Lezeth: Then I'd be like we totally match.
- 3:58Carmen Lezeth: It wouldn't even matter like which one I look at I don't even know astrology, right but I would be like, oh my god, he totally loves me.
- 4:06Carmen Lezeth: It was so weird.
- 4:09Rick Costa: But go ahead yeah, as far as astrology, that was, uh, pre-christianity jesus stuff for me.
- 4:17Rick Costa: I was so into that stuff anything oh my gosh, because of the abuse and everything I was going through with mostly dad, I just felt like I needed some answers, some power, some way for some kind of control in my life, like something, because I'm going nuts and I was all into that.
- 4:38Rick Costa: And oh my gosh, esp, psychic astrology, all that occult stuff, peace, psychic astrology, all that occult stuff.
- 4:47Rick Costa: I was like and in my mind I'm like god's cool with this god's, because my mother did raise me, like you know, to believe in god, very catholic ouija board.
- 4:52Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I had a ouija board, believe it or not that's one thing I will never mess with the we messing with the spirits I was crazy when I was.
- 5:02Rick Costa: I was a kid.
- 5:03Rick Costa: I was so crazy.
- 5:04Rick Costa: I brought it to school, trying to get people to do it with me, and they were like I ain't messing with that.
- 5:10Carmen Lezeth: I don't believe in it, but I ain't messing with it.
- 5:13Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I ain't crazy.
- 5:15Carmen Lezeth: You don't want to tempt it?
- 5:16Carmen Lezeth: I ain't tempted that shit.
- 5:19Rick Costa: I was into all that stuff, but now it's like there's a traumatic story.
- 5:23Rick Costa: But anyway, I look at horoscopes today and I'm like y'all, I was into all that stuff, but now it's like I mean, there's a traumatic story.
- 5:28Rick Costa: But anyway, I look at horoscopes today and I'm like y'all, this is so generic, you can literally take any of them and apply them to you, but some of them get all excited.
- 5:37Rick Costa: My horoscope said be careful around water and I almost slipped in the bathtub today.
- 5:42Rick Costa: Oh my God, that was so accurate.
- 5:44Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Come on, come on, come on Stop, you might slip because you don't have a mat in your bathtub.
- 5:51Rick Costa: Or you don't clean that nasty thing.
- 5:53Carmen Lezeth: I just want everyone who's listening to the podcast who are into astrology.
- 5:58Carmen Lezeth: You can send all of your emails and complaints to Rick Costa and Cynthia Ruiz Lopez.
- 6:04Carmen Lezeth: Do not send it to me.
- 6:10Carmen Lezeth: You know who else is a big astrology person.
- 6:11Carmen Lezeth: You guys would be so surprised.
- 6:15Rick Costa: Andrea, andrea Really.
- 6:16Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, Because she's like teetering on atheism.
- 6:19Carmen Lezeth: I think she's more agnostic, and not to keep talking about her, but her birthday is coming up, so we'll give a shout out to her on her birthday.
- 6:26Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, I always found it fascinating, but it's what you're talking about.
- 6:31Carmen Lezeth: Rick is like we always want to be able to try to explain things.
- 6:34Carmen Lezeth: I will say I've never believed, even when I was a teenager and doing the whole Louvre thing and craziness thing and craziness.
- 6:48Carmen Lezeth: The problem with astrology for me is more of a weird scientific thing in that in order to really understand the stars and what they may mean, you have to understand where all the stars in the universe are.
- 6:56Carmen Lezeth: And we don't right, we only know the ones that are in our orbit, in our whatever.
- 7:03Carmen Lezeth: So I always thought that was logically.
- 7:06Carmen Lezeth: It didn't make any sense that that's what it could mean.
- 7:09Carmen Lezeth: But you know that's probably getting too into the weeds.
- 7:13Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So I was.
- 7:15Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I've always been a skeptic when it comes to psychics and I went to a psychic once and it was with my friend at the time and me and Juan had just started dating.
- 7:24Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I didn't say anything to this woman about Juan, about anything, and she automatically knew I was going to be dating this guy.
- 7:35Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I'm dating this guy.
- 7:36Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: He does have children, but he's going to be the one that I'm going to be with for the rest of my life.
- 7:45Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: And yeah which I thought was very weird, but that was the only time I ever saw a psychic.
- 7:51Carmen Lezeth: I've gone in and seen psychics too, and when I left I was like, oh my God, how did they know?
- 7:56Carmen Lezeth: And I'll say this because you know I write in journals all the time, right?
- 8:00Carmen Lezeth: So the reason why I get rid of my journals is so many reasons.
- 8:04Carmen Lezeth: So every year on my birthday I get rid of all the journals I've written all year and people always like why you have such material.
- 8:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm like because I know what's in there.
- 8:12Carmen Lezeth: And one of the things I remember specifically is I went to the psychic and you pay your $50 or whatever it is, and you sit down, they do the whole reading with your hand and whatever, and they do the tarot cards and the whole thing and they have the whole look, the whole look with the beads and the whatever.
- 8:30Carmen Lezeth: And she was so on point.
- 8:33Carmen Lezeth: And then she was like and you're going to have three kids and he loves you and you're going to be very wealthy.
- 8:39Carmen Lezeth: And she just went and I was like I believe all of this, she had all this stuff beforehand, right?
- 8:46Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 8:47Carmen Lezeth: And of course, none of that happened.
- 8:49Carmen Lezeth: By the way, I don't have children and I'm not extremely wealthy, nor did I marry someone wealthy Complete opposite, actually.
- 8:56Carmen Lezeth: But I think they get us and I'm not saying all of them are scams, but I'm going to say that they do get us because some of this stuff is still generalized.
- 9:09Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, most women your age when you went in that day are probably dating somebody or want to talk and then, like you, do a face like this, like you know, you know you make a thing or whatever.
- 9:21Carmen Lezeth: And I'm not saying all of them.
- 9:22Carmen Lezeth: I do believe there are people out there who have that sixth sense, though I'm not going to mess with that.
- 9:28Carmen Lezeth: I do think there are people out there.
- 9:29Carmen Lezeth: But what I believe, too, is that they're not making money off of it, probably.
- 9:33Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Yeah, I used to actually work with someone who was kind of like a medium and I never asked her to do any type of reading or anything.
- 9:43Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what a medium is, as opposed to a psychic.
- 9:46Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: They can speak to the other side.
- 9:47Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Oh, my God, they see dead people.
- 9:50Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Okay, they see them or they hear messages from them.
- 9:58Carmen Lezeth: This is like.
- 9:58Rick Costa: Whoopi Goldberg in the movie Ghost.
- 10:03Carmen Lezeth: Understood.
- 10:11Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So I never asked her to do any type of reading.
- 10:13Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: She said to me she's like I can do a reading for you and I said no, no, and she's like, but you don't want to know about your mom.
- 10:18Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: And she came out and said that and I said no, I said I don't.
- 10:21Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I said thank you, but I don't want to know anything like.
- 10:24Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I don't leave it as is, you know so yeah, that's freaky.
- 10:30Carmen Lezeth: Go ahead, rick no, I.
- 10:33Rick Costa: What was funny about the Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost was originally she was fake, like she did that for a living and she was totally fake.
- 10:41Rick Costa: But then, you know, a real one showed up and she kicked in.
- 10:48Carmen Lezeth: I guess we miss him oh he's a great dancer, not to go off on a tangent, but every time I think of ghost or any, I just I loved patrick swayze.
- 10:57Carmen Lezeth: He was amazing.
- 10:57Carmen Lezeth: Did I say patrick stewart?
- 10:59Carmen Lezeth: No, I said patrick, you were about to, I was about to, right.
- 11:04Carmen Lezeth: I want to hear what Rick had to say about suspicion and religion.
- 11:07Carmen Lezeth: If you don't mind touching on it Like kind of, you know the things we do, knock on wood and you know, throw salt on your whatever, whatever, that thing is Over the left shoulder.
- 11:18Carmen Lezeth: Look at him like and crack your mother's back.
- 11:32Rick Costa: It's all superstition.
- 11:32Rick Costa: I think I don't put any stock in any of that stuff.
- 11:33Rick Costa: To be honest with you, and where my parents come from, boy they yeah, they had a lot of that stuff like.
- 11:36Rick Costa: One thing was, if you're pregnant, if the woman's face this, this sounds so stupid becomes ugly, it's a girl, because the girl is taking the beauty from the mother.
- 11:50Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I've heard that so many times.
- 11:52Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: What Wow.
- 11:54Carmen Lezeth: Wow, that's so wrong.
- 11:57Carmen Lezeth: And then what would happen when the kid came out ugly anyways?
- 12:01Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 12:04Carmen Lezeth: She wasn't that pretty.
- 12:06Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: You blame it on the dad.
- 12:09Carmen Lezeth: I wonder how some of these things begin, right, they're so weird.
- 12:13Carmen Lezeth: So I will share with you something that I thought was fascinating regarding the idea of deja vu or things that are predictive, right?
- 12:22Carmen Lezeth: So deja vu in the science community and I didn't read up on all of this because there was so much they, of course, don't believe in it.
- 12:32Carmen Lezeth: They think some of it is just sometimes the electrical parts of our brain are misfiring, or it could have something to do with dream sleeping Like we dream about things we don't know where they come from, but then we experience something similar in life.
- 12:45Carmen Lezeth: I thought that was fascinating, but one of the real-life kind of eerie coincidences, because that's another one, right, do we believe in coincidences?
- 12:56Carmen Lezeth: And I wanted to come up with something contemporary.
- 12:59Carmen Lezeth: So, do you guys know the show the Simpsons?
- 13:01Carmen Lezeth: It was the animated series.
- 13:04Carmen Lezeth: Oh, it's still on.
- 13:05Rick Costa: I'm not trying to pretend everybody is it like the longest running show ever?
- 13:11Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: 30 something years now, but what again?
- 13:13Carmen Lezeth: it was a pleasure to have your dumb asses on the show.
- 13:17Carmen Lezeth: Why are you messing with me?
- 13:19Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if everyone you know what's so funny.
- 13:21Carmen Lezeth: I don't watch.
- 13:21Carmen Lezeth: Watch the Simpsons.
- 13:23Rick Costa: I don't either, but we know about it.
- 13:25Rick Costa: We have a lovely conversation.
- 13:29Rick Costa: All these predictions of who's going to be the president, and this, that and the other Well, let me tell you.
- 13:35Carmen Lezeth: So this is the thing about the Simpsons.
- 13:36Carmen Lezeth: That's kind of weird.
- 13:37Carmen Lezeth: Is it coincidence or is it something else?
- 13:40Carmen Lezeth: They predicted well, they didn't predict.
- 13:42Carmen Lezeth: But in a 2000 episode they predicted.
- 13:47Carmen Lezeth: Well, they didn't predict.
- 13:48Carmen Lezeth: But in a 2000 episode, uh, the simpsons joked about trump becoming president, and 16 years later it happened.
- 13:51Carmen Lezeth: So ricky knew that one.
- 13:52Carmen Lezeth: Smart watches in 1995, the show featured a wristwatch that could make phone calls, years before smart watches became a reality.
- 14:00Carmen Lezeth: I didn't know that.
- 14:02Carmen Lezeth: Disney buying fox in.
- 14:04Carmen Lezeth: In 1998, the Simpsons showed a sign that said 20th Century Fox, a division of Walt Disney Co.
- 14:10Carmen Lezeth: Which actually happened in 2017.
- 14:14Carmen Lezeth: And another one the Higgs boson equation.
- 14:17Carmen Lezeth: In 1998, Homer wrote an equation on a chalkboard that turned out to be shockingly close to the actual Higgs-Boson particle discovery in 2012.
- 14:29Carmen Lezeth: I probably should have looked up what that Higgs-Boson thingy is, because it sounds important, but I don't know what it is.
- 14:35Carmen Lezeth: Well, and then I was looking at Reddit.
- 14:39Carmen Lezeth: In 2013, a Reddit user posted a joke prediction that the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series in 2016, even though they hadn't won in 108 years.
- 14:50Carmen Lezeth: And three years later the Cubs actually did win.
- 14:53Carmen Lezeth: So you know, are those things coincidences?
- 14:56Carmen Lezeth: Do you believe in coincidences or is there something else going on there?
- 15:00Carmen Lezeth: It could be coincidences.
- 15:03Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It could be coincidence.
- 15:05Rick Costa: It could be, educated guesses.
- 15:07Rick Costa: I remember reading a comic this character came from the future and then they were showing her memories.
- 15:15Rick Costa: In her memories she sees and now this is way before 9-11, they show her seeing her past and they're showing the Twin Towers on fire Yo, that's great, but is that coincidence or is there something to it?
- 15:31Carmen Lezeth: I mean, who knows I mean.
- 15:37Carmen Lezeth: Well, do you personally believe in coincidences, Cynthia?
- 15:42Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I think everything happens for a reason.
- 15:45Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Yeah, I don't think something just happened, just because I think there is a reason.
- 15:50Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Something happened Now.
- 15:52Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It's like they always say that butterfly effect you know, if you go in the past and you change one little thing, the whole future has now altered.
- 16:00Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So I think it's kind of something like that.
- 16:03Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: You know where, if it's meant to happen, it's going to happen regardless.
- 16:08Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I don't think it's just a coincidence.
- 16:10Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It's meant to be, it's meant to happen.
- 16:13Carmen Lezeth: Oh, but wait.
- 16:13Carmen Lezeth: But now we're touching on fate, I mean so wait a minute.
- 16:18Carmen Lezeth: So I just got totally confused.
- 16:19Carmen Lezeth: I was totally with you until you said if it's meant to happen, it's meant to happen.
- 16:22Carmen Lezeth: So are you saying that it's predestined, or yeah I think so so okay, this is interesting.
- 16:34Carmen Lezeth: Rick, do you believe the same thing, that things are like things happen for a reason, so it's kind of predestined, like there's no such thing as coincidences?
- 16:46Rick Costa: I think life is very random, very, very random.
- 16:48Rick Costa: I don't think there's.
- 16:50Rick Costa: So, speaking from the christian side of things, a lot of them believe god's in control of everything and I'm like absolutely, not, absolutely, I do not believe that.
- 16:58Rick Costa: 100 do not believe that.
- 16:59Rick Costa: So like god's responsible for planes falling out of the sky, god's responsible for people getting killed in cars Like that's stupid.
- 17:06Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, no.
- 17:09Rick Costa: And there's a verse that says it rains on the just and the unjust.
- 17:11Rick Costa: It's just random.
- 17:13Rick Costa: It doesn't matter how good you are, how bad you are.
- 17:14Rick Costa: I just did a broadcast.
- 17:16Rick Costa: Why do bad things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad people, good things happen to bad people?
- 17:20Rick Costa: Like it's just all random.
- 17:28Rick Costa: Now, I do believe that god can use a circumstance, try to like push you towards a certain way, but I don't think he's like controlling everything.
- 17:33Rick Costa: I don't believe that at all.
- 17:33Rick Costa: But coincidences can happen like oh, that's the way.
- 17:38Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: The way I see it is like I think that obviously god knows what our lives are going to be, but it's our decisions on how we're going to get there.
- 17:50Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: You know what I mean?
- 17:52Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Like I don't think it's a coincidence because we are.
- 17:56Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: He already knows what's going to happen to us, but we have different directions on which way to go, so we're the ones making those decisions.
- 18:05Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So, like I said, I don't think it's a coincidence.
- 18:08Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I just think if it's meant to happen, it's going to happen.
- 18:11Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It's just the way that we choose it to happen.
- 18:14Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: That make sense.
- 18:17Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I just completely disagree.
- 18:18Carmen Lezeth: Obviously, when I'm being quiet, it's because I'm trying to let you speak.
- 18:23Carmen Lezeth: When I'm being quiet, it's because I'm trying to let you speak.
- 18:28Rick Costa: The only thing I do believe 100% is that we all have free will.
- 18:30Rick Costa: 100% you can do whatever you want.
- 18:32Rick Costa: You know it doesn't matter.
- 18:34Rick Costa: If God wants you to do whatever, you can still say no.
- 18:38Carmen Lezeth: But then that kind of goes against the idea of it being predestined.
- 18:41Carmen Lezeth: That, like Cynthia, the way in which I was interpreting that you were saying is, like, no matter what, god already has a plan for you and so you're going to get to that goal.
- 18:51Carmen Lezeth: But then Rick just said but you can choose to do whatever you want, so maybe you don't get to that goal, right, like you can't have it both ways.
- 19:00Carmen Lezeth: You can't have free will and yet also have a predestined determination, right.
- 19:06Carmen Lezeth: So I don't believe in coincidences at all either, but not because of the reasons that you guys are talking about, I believe, because I'm not trying to make this a battle of religions, all right, because we all know that I'm kind of more atheist or agnostic nowadays, but I've always been not very religious anyways.
- 19:23Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I don't believe in coincidences is because I actually believe that there are patterns in all of the chaos, even if we don't understand the patterns.
- 19:32Carmen Lezeth: The chaos, like it's kind of like what you were talking about, the butterfly effect, and I'm not sure that's the correct interpretation, because I don't know how to explain it either as a scientist, but that's my simple way of understanding it as well too.
- 19:44Carmen Lezeth: If a butterfly flaps his wings.
- 19:47Carmen Lezeth: You know, in Hawaii it rains or whatever.
- 19:50Carmen Lezeth: There's a windstorm in Florida or something you know, kind of logical thing.
- 20:01Carmen Lezeth: And for me that's what I believe.
- 20:02Carmen Lezeth: I believe there are so many different equations and choices we can make every single day and all of those choices have consequences and those consequences affect other people and other people make choices and then, you know, it goes down and down and down.
- 20:18Carmen Lezeth: But I think about something really simple, the simplest of things, and not to get all you know personal or whatever.
- 20:26Carmen Lezeth: Yeah right, but you know like I think about, had my mother lived, even if she had lived another year, how dramatically that might have changed my life.
- 20:41Carmen Lezeth: Or if she had died the first time that they thought she was going to pass away, and I was much younger, those small, tiny details just change your entire life.
- 20:56Carmen Lezeth: What if I decided after college not to come to California, instead went back to Boston?
- 21:02Carmen Lezeth: All of those are choices that change the trajectory of who I became and who I am today, but those were all within my ability.
- 21:12Carmen Lezeth: I mean not my mom dying or whatever, but I'm just saying, like you know what I mean when he sees those twists and turns.
- 21:19Carmen Lezeth: So I don't think we were created in a way to have a predestined outcome and I've talked to Rick about this and we agree to disagree but I think of God, or whatever entity you believe in, as more of an architect.
- 21:37Carmen Lezeth: Like when you see a house or a building, you know that an architect built it, but the architect isn't there.
- 21:43Carmen Lezeth: The architect isn't sitting there waiting for you to call on him to come fix this faucet or whatever.
- 21:48Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 21:49Carmen Lezeth: Or redesign something, but you know that something built to this building, but he's no longer there, he's gone, and so the building exists, doing what the building is going to do, and that's kind of I know it's kind of really simple, weird way to think about it, but that's how I think of God.
- 22:04Carmen Lezeth: And so whatever happens to that building, to the people in that building, anybody living in that building, whatever, has nothing to do with the architect anymore.
- 22:17Carmen Lezeth: The artist created the art and walked away, and now it's upon us to deal with it and handle it and enjoy it, and you know what I mean.
- 22:21Carmen Lezeth: So, but I think the magnificence of it is when you look at and for me it's about the science, and I don't even understand it that well, but I love learning about it.
- 22:30Carmen Lezeth: Kind of the idea of chaos theory, which is that idea that there were all these patterns, even if we don't understand it.
- 22:37Carmen Lezeth: Does that make sense?
- 22:39Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I always think about it.
- 22:42Carmen Lezeth: Like when I walk into somebody's room and it's completely messy and dirty and they have stuff thrown all over the place and it just looks so chaotic, right, we all freak out.
- 22:50Carmen Lezeth: The truth is, once you start cleaning up that room, you can see oh, she went to a party that day.
- 22:56Carmen Lezeth: Oh, this is when she was playing with.
- 23:00Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Whatever you know what I mean.
- 23:01Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: There's a story behind each thing.
- 23:02Carmen Lezeth: There's a story and you can start to see the patterns in the room of the chaos, and that's kind of how I see what our lives are like.
- 23:11Rick Costa: The whole messy room thing.
- 23:12Rick Costa: Let's say you have two different people and one is everything's clean, organized and in its place, but you've got the other one.
- 23:18Rick Costa: Everything seems to be all over the place.
- 23:20Rick Costa: But it's so interesting that the person that has everything all over the place, they know exactly where everything is.
- 23:24Rick Costa: They never lose it.
- 23:25Rick Costa: They know exactly where everything is.
- 23:27Carmen Lezeth: I think that's a facade, but okay, go ahead.
- 23:29Carmen Lezeth: That's like a grandmama's tale that everyone believes.
- 23:33Carmen Lezeth: But go ahead, I'll let you finish?
- 23:34Rick Costa: no, because I'm like that.
- 23:35Rick Costa: I mean, I'm not super messy, but I, it might seem, to somebody else.
- 23:40Rick Costa: Oh lord, have mercy, how do you find anything?
- 23:41Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I know exactly where everything is wait, are you more of it's messy or is it just because you have a lot of stuff and you know where everything is?
- 23:50Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Because there's two different things.
- 23:52Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I mean, being messy is just like everything thrown everywhere, you really don't know where everything is, and another one is just having a lot of stuff.
- 24:00Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It may look messy, but it's really not.
- 24:02Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It's just a little cluttered and you know where everything is.
- 24:06Carmen Lezeth: Since you're talking, about the difference between a hoarder.
- 24:08Carmen Lezeth: I got you, I got you, I got you.
- 24:15Rick Costa: Yeah, borderline hoarder.
- 24:17Rick Costa: I almost said border Hoarder.
- 24:18Rick Costa: You're not a hoarder, no but I have a lot of stuff.
- 24:22Rick Costa: I have a lot of stuff and I know where it all is.
- 24:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and I'm the complete opposite.
- 24:27Carmen Lezeth: I am extremely yeah, I should have let you finish.
- 24:28Carmen Lezeth: Minimalist I am extremely yeah, I should have let you finish.
- 24:30Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Minimalist.
- 24:30Carmen Lezeth: I was trying to see what you were going to say about organized people.
- 24:33Carmen Lezeth: What were you going to say, rick, let's rewind, go ahead.
- 24:35Carmen Lezeth: What were you saying?
- 24:36Carmen Lezeth: Maybe I should kick you off.
- 24:37Carmen Lezeth: You're about to disorganize people.
- 24:41Rick Costa: No, it's just funny that people that I've been to their house and they're you know everything's so pristine and immaculate but all the time, like Lord, I don't know where I put my keys.
- 24:49Rick Costa: Lord, I don't know where I put this.
- 24:50Rick Costa: Lord, I don't know where I put that.
- 24:51Rick Costa: I'm like how You're so organized in my mind.
- 25:02Carmen Lezeth: Right, yeah, I'm extremely to a T, very organized.
- 25:03Carmen Lezeth: I can't I think we've talked about this before I can't function in chaos.
- 25:05Carmen Lezeth: I don't like chaos.
- 25:05Carmen Lezeth: I don't mind chaos if I understand it, If I understand what's happening or whatever, I'm okay with it.
- 25:10Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, I don't like anything that's out of order and I don't think I make my guests feel uncomfortable.
- 25:15Carmen Lezeth: But I've been told that I don't know.
- 25:17Carmen Lezeth: I'm not saying Cynthia, but you know people feel like they have to be neat around me because my house is.
- 25:22Carmen Lezeth: So I don't know, did you feel uncomfortable when you came to my house?
- 25:27Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: No, no, because I'm kind of the same way.
- 25:33Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I like things in a certain area, like Juan, and the kids always make fun of me.
- 25:35Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Because when the kids look at us they would always try to move some of my stuff to see if I would notice.
- 25:40Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: And I would walk into the house and I'm like, why is that there?
- 25:43Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Why is that there?
- 25:43Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: And they make fun of me all the time, so I get it.
- 25:48Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I think those are all just stylistic things too.
- 25:51Carmen Lezeth: I mean, rick, in a lot of ways I agree with you.
- 25:56Carmen Lezeth: I think some people are extremely messy and know where everything is Like, especially when I'm working in offices.
- 25:59Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, like in one of the offices I used to work in, I was like okay, I'm no longer coming into this office, I'm working in the conference room because I can't.
- 26:06Carmen Lezeth: But if I tried to move anything on her desk she would freak out because she couldn't find anything.
- 26:12Carmen Lezeth: But it was like just everything was thrown.
- 26:14Carmen Lezeth: That's how it looked.
- 26:15Carmen Lezeth: Thrown, you know, you couldn't find a stapler, you couldn't find the, you couldn't find anything.
- 26:19Carmen Lezeth: But she would move like three piles and be like here it is.
- 26:22Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean Like, but I, but I can't function that way at all.
- 26:29Rick Costa: I'm one that I like everything in its place.
- 26:32Rick Costa: This is where this goes, and this is where it goes forever.
- 26:36Carmen Lezeth: So you just have a lot of stuff, yeah you're organized.
- 26:40Rick Costa: But now the crazy part is, I live with somebody who, unfortunately, has dementia, so it's complete opposite.
- 26:47Carmen Lezeth: I know, but that's different, I know.
- 26:51Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: And.
- 26:51Rick Costa: I have to be calm and just roll with it.
- 26:53Rick Costa: But the inside of me goes.
- 26:56Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so you're worse than I am because I don't get all that befuddled over somebody.
- 27:00Rick Costa: I just squash it down.
- 27:03Carmen Lezeth: Like when I used to have my goddaughter over because she was little.
- 27:06Carmen Lezeth: You know, and kids are going to be kids, they're going to do what they're going to do, and I'd be like, oh my god, stop.
- 27:17Carmen Lezeth: You know, like I'd be like she's four carmen, let her be, she's just playing.
- 27:19Carmen Lezeth: I have to bite my tongue, though, because I'm like, okay, it's not a big deal, she's just playing and the paints are everywhere, yeah, and I I know it's different for you, you, but I'm saying it's not like purposely at all.
- 27:32Rick Costa: No, no, no, Not even stylistically that is just-.
- 27:35Rick Costa: It's not about on purpose or blame, it's just that I still have to constantly deal with it, every single day.
- 27:42Carmen Lezeth: So you have to clean up after her.
- 27:43Carmen Lezeth: Is that what it is?
- 27:44Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God.
- 27:46Carmen Lezeth: Okay, yeah, I'm going to go down a different oh wait, let's change the subject Sorry.
- 27:53Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: You see the smoke coming out of his ears.
- 27:57Carmen Lezeth: I'm not like, oh no.
- 27:59Rick Costa: You've been on Deja Vu before.
- 28:01Rick Costa: We didn't really talk about that.
- 28:02Rick Costa: I definitely had that where I'm like I'll be sitting on my desk doing something and all of a sudden, wait a minute.
- 28:09Rick Costa: I feel like I've had this exact moment before.
- 28:12Rick Costa: And then I try to think and I'm oh yeah, I think hard.
- 28:16Rick Costa: I'm like, yeah, yeah, this, this is exactly the same thing that happened then.
- 28:19Rick Costa: But it's like, but it just the way.
- 28:20Rick Costa: It just hits you in a wave like whoa, what the hell?
- 28:23Carmen Lezeth: a little bit I disagree with the scientist a bit on this.
- 28:27Carmen Lezeth: You you know, and since I am Carmen Suarez, you know what I mean.
- 28:30Carmen Lezeth: Like Dr Lisette Suarez, now, I think there were real things that are unexplained at this moment in time.
- 28:39Carmen Lezeth: Maybe in the future somebody will explain them to me so that they actually feel true.
- 28:45Carmen Lezeth: And I think deja vu is a thing that we don't understand.
- 28:50Carmen Lezeth: I don't think it's just my brain firing.
- 28:52Carmen Lezeth: There are some times when I'm like no, I'm doing this again.
- 28:56Carmen Lezeth: I've been here before and I know I've never, especially when I drove one time to Orange County, which is a part of LA, of California, and I drove down to somebody I'd never known and it was the first time I was meeting her and we had met online on a meetup board or whatever, and we were gonna meet for dinner.
- 29:13Carmen Lezeth: And when I pulled into the parking lot to a restaurant I'd never been to before, I was like, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.
- 29:19Carmen Lezeth: And I, when I saw her, I knew exactly who she was.
- 29:22Carmen Lezeth: This is before.
- 29:23Carmen Lezeth: We had webcams and whatever and all this stuff and I was like.
- 29:25Carmen Lezeth: I was like I think we've met before she.
- 29:28Carmen Lezeth: She was like what she's like?
- 29:30Carmen Lezeth: You're a weirdo.
- 29:33Carmen Lezeth: We became friends, but it's just one of those things like I will never forget that and I was like uh-uh, that happened somehow in some other way and I'm remembering it, but it didn't actually happen to me.
- 29:43Carmen Lezeth: Now I don't believe in past lives, so I don't want no one coming at me, I don't.
- 29:48Carmen Lezeth: But something in my past About parallel universes, I don't.
- 29:54Carmen Lezeth: Okay, can I tell you guys a story about Richard?
- 29:57Carmen Lezeth: And then I don't know I cause we were talking you were talking about a little bit before about spirits.
- 30:02Carmen Lezeth: We're being funny, okay.
- 30:07Carmen Lezeth: When my friend Richard passed away in 2012, in April, we had two memorial funeral services for him, or whatever.
- 30:15Carmen Lezeth: One was in Oregon and one was in Vermont.
- 30:17Carmen Lezeth: When I had to fly to the one in Oregon, I was supposed to have a big medical thing happen and I was not feeling well and also I was depressed because my best friend died.
- 30:27Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 30:28Carmen Lezeth: Like it was just a miserable time.
- 30:30Carmen Lezeth: I just had a bad time at that first memorial.
- 30:32Carmen Lezeth: I hated everybody who was there.
- 30:34Carmen Lezeth: I hope none of them are listening, but they probably are.
- 30:36Carmen Lezeth: It was just.
- 30:36Carmen Lezeth: It was just one of those like things where I was like, oh my God, you're all lying.
- 30:40Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 30:41Carmen Lezeth: Like people were getting up and saying stuff.
- 30:42Carmen Lezeth: I was like, cause I knew what he would tell me.
- 30:45Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 30:46Carmen Lezeth: And then these people, you know like people get up and start crying, whatever.
- 30:49Carmen Lezeth: And they cheated you like shit when you were alive I'm going off on a tangent here, sorry.
- 30:53Carmen Lezeth: So I remember on the way back on the plane I was like please, god, please, please, please, let me have like just some peace and quiet.
- 31:03Carmen Lezeth: I wish I could have nobody sitting next to me, and you know that does not happen.
- 31:06Carmen Lezeth: You do not have people sitting next to you, you always do.
- 31:09Carmen Lezeth: I was like, please, just let me have leg room some.
- 31:12Carmen Lezeth: You know, I just want to be whatever.
- 31:14Carmen Lezeth: When I got on the plane, the seat next to me was broken.
- 31:18Carmen Lezeth: Nobody could sit next to me.
- 31:21Carmen Lezeth: And I swear to you, I was like Richard, you did, I know you.
- 31:26Carmen Lezeth: I mean, the whole time I was like this, I was feeling better.
- 31:30Carmen Lezeth: I knew that he did that.
- 31:34Carmen Lezeth: Okay, the second memorial was like two weeks later or something, and so I had to go to Vermont.
- 31:39Carmen Lezeth: And when I went to Vermont, you know, same thing you had to meet with all these people, whatever and it was.
- 31:44Carmen Lezeth: You know how it is at funeral.
- 31:46Carmen Lezeth: That's why I'm not going to have no funeral, because it's all fake and blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 31:49Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to have no funeral because I'll fake and blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 31:51Carmen Lezeth: I come back, I hated being there.
- 31:52Carmen Lezeth: I come back and I get off the plane.
- 31:54Carmen Lezeth: I come home and I was like I need to get some food.
- 31:57Carmen Lezeth: So I was walking and I said you know, I'm gonna get some coffee.
- 32:00Carmen Lezeth: I was walking to Pete's coffee and I was walking across the street.
- 32:04Carmen Lezeth: I think I told you guys this story before.
- 32:16Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, but I was walking across the street and all of a sudden, as I'm walking, the light changes and as I'm walking with a bunch of other people, a bird, a huge ass crow or something, hit me on the head and knocked me to the ground.
- 32:21Carmen Lezeth: Did I tell you guys that story?
- 32:21Carmen Lezeth: I think I said no, knocked me on the ground.
- 32:22Carmen Lezeth: People were like I mean, like somebody got out of their car.
- 32:25Carmen Lezeth: They were like are you okay?
- 32:27Carmen Lezeth: I didn't know a bird that hit me, I didn't know.
- 32:29Carmen Lezeth: But I fell to the ground and all these people got me up and I was like no, I'm fine, I'm fine, what was it?
- 32:36Carmen Lezeth: They were like it was a crow hit you in the head and I was like fucking Richard, I hate her Motherfucker.
- 32:45Carmen Lezeth: Have you ever heard of that?
- 32:49Carmen Lezeth: No, never.
- 32:52Carmen Lezeth: And I'm telling you and not that I'm, I'm not going to sit here and be like we had a conversation about a crow, but I'm telling you I knew, I knew and I got up and I was okay and I was laughing like I can't believe you did that.
- 33:06Carmen Lezeth: Okay, all right, I know you're fine.
- 33:09Carmen Lezeth: I just knew in that moment he was fine.
- 33:11Carmen Lezeth: Okay, that's my story, I'm sticking to it.
- 33:14Rick Costa: So I believe in him.
- 33:15Rick Costa: When my grandma died, so all my life she lived with us.
- 33:20Rick Costa: So I always knew my grandma.
- 33:21Rick Costa: She had very long hair, white kind of yellow, tinted a little bit hair, very long.
- 33:29Rick Costa: I usually kept it in a bun, whatever, whatever, until she went to bed.
- 33:32Rick Costa: So I've always known her looking like that, slightly overweight, a little bit plainer she's.
- 33:38Rick Costa: Oh.
- 33:38Rick Costa: So then I had a dream after she died and I saw her like in heaven, with jet, black, straight hair and very thin.
- 33:47Rick Costa: I said, mom, can you tell me what Vavó Vavó means?
- 33:51Rick Costa: Grandma in Portuguese looked like when she was young.
- 33:54Rick Costa: She's like what I said.
- 33:57Carmen Lezeth: Oh, my God Wow.
- 34:00Rick Costa: Is that like God saying like I got you, she's here, don't worry about it.
- 34:03Rick Costa: She's in a dream, who knows?
- 34:08Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Hmm, hmm, hmm, first thing I hate crows.
- 34:18Rick Costa: You know, they're really smart, they are really intelligent I heard they're so smart that it's illegal to have one of the pet in a lot of states because people use train them to do like steal no, no, we have crows here and they like wait on the ledge, like I'm like, hey, good morning.
- 34:35Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I say hi to one of them because he's always like hi, oh yeah if you're ever like mean to one of them like they remember, and they will like stalk you.
- 34:43Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'm nice to them because I'm like, since I was little, like you know, the grandparents always tell you don't look at a crow directly in the eye, because they take your soul or take your soul something like that, you know, like something that has to do with the dead, or something you know what I mean.
- 35:05Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Like so I just I don't like crows or anything like that.
- 35:09Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I thought you were going to tell us a story about you and crows.
- 35:14Carmen Lezeth: No, oh, no, no.
- 35:16Rick Costa: I remember hearing stories of people going to Africa and they were behind technologically put it that way and people were taking pictures Of course they're going to take pictures this tribe or whatever and when they realized what they were doing, they were like no, no, no, no, no.
- 35:31Rick Costa: They were freaking out like no, when you do that, you're stealing our soul, like they thought that you were stealing their soul that day, that's right that might just be because I'm not understanding technology, though, too.
- 35:41Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think like not to make this about birds now, but I think it's so funny.
- 35:46Carmen Lezeth: I think crows are so cool.
- 35:46Carmen Lezeth: I love them.
- 35:47Carmen Lezeth: That's so funny.
- 35:47Carmen Lezeth: I think crows are so cool, I love them.
- 35:50Carmen Lezeth: That's so interesting.
- 35:51Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, maybe you've seen too many horror films with bad crows.
- 35:55Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: That's the Hitchcock when you think of the birds?
- 35:57Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Yeah, that's what the birds yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:00Carmen Lezeth: But do you guys believe in spirits and ghosts and you know?
- 36:03Carmen Lezeth: Like that's kind of why I was talking about the Richard thing.
- 36:05Carmen Lezeth: Like you do absolutely absolutely like um, when, actually, when juan's aunt had passed away, he had went to dr for the service and she don't know what dr is.
- 36:23Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It's dominican dominican republic, sorry, um, and I guess she was like kind of a prankster and stuff like that.
- 36:28Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So him and his cousin were up late one night watching tv.
- 36:31Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: They're about to go to bed, they turn off the tv, they walk out of the prankster and stuff like that.
- 36:34Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So him and his cousin were up late one night watching TV.
- 36:36Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: They're about to go to bed, they turn off the TV, they walk out of the living room and all of a sudden the TV turns back on and they're both like looking at each other Like we did turn off the TV, right, and they're like, oh, we know that's you, you know just messing with us and stuff like that, to kind of give them, you know, some peace or whatever yeah, I've never been visited though by, like my mom or anything.
- 36:58Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: You know, I've never had and I don't want that to happen, but I think it would freak me out, but that's never happened to me, I've never dreamt with my mom, but after she passed I only had one situation happen like so in my bedroom I had bunk beds, so I would sleep on the bottom bunk and after she had passed it was like a couple of days later I was sleeping.
- 37:20Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: But you know how like sometimes you're in that middle awake sleep state and I felt myself, my body, kind of come up off the bed, felt a hug and then go back down and at the same time as I'm going down, my eyes are starting to open and I see myself going back down.
- 37:40Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So is my mom giving me a hug.
- 37:42Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Okay, that's the only the only thing that's ever happened to me.
- 37:51Carmen Lezeth: I didn't get that at all Watch tonight, and I'm going to freak the fuck out.
- 37:58Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I think it's going to be swinging.
- 38:03Carmen Lezeth: With my taser that Cynthia gave me.
- 38:09Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Oh, my God.
- 38:11Rick Costa: There is a phenomenon too, where people, maybe you guys, have experiences I have not too many times, but it's happened where it's it's really freaky, where you're asleep and I think it's like you were saying, like you're kind of sort of in between.
- 38:22Rick Costa: Then all of a sudden you feel like you're falling and I'm like falling, like you just fell out of an airplane and I, more than once, have pulled a sheet off of my bed because that's how real it felt.
- 38:33Rick Costa: Literally, she pulled out because I thought I was really falling and then I woke up and was like oh, what the heck, like it was crazy.
- 38:41Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: That happened to me once, and I was on the top bunk and I actually fell off the bed.
- 38:45Carmen Lezeth: No, Okay, that's just why I didn't get hurt, but I just don't sleep that deeply and I know like it bums me out, like I think you have to be someone who can actually sleep deeply to have some of these experiences.
- 39:00Carmen Lezeth: I just don't.
- 39:03Carmen Lezeth: I'm so sad.
- 39:04Carmen Lezeth: Don't you feel sorry for me?
- 39:05Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding.
- 39:07Rick Costa: You've been not feeling so great lately.
- 39:09Rick Costa: Maybe you have been sleeping deeper now, mm-hmm.
- 39:13Carmen Lezeth: No, you know, I… you might get a visit tonight.
- 39:17Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Who knows?
- 39:17Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: No, I you know I might get a visit tonight, who knows no, I don't want no ghosts coming to me.
- 39:25Carmen Lezeth: I want them to work on some stuff.
- 39:27Carmen Lezeth: Put some money in my bank account, don't waste your time coming to talk to me.
- 39:31Rick Costa: Find a way I remember as a kid and this was before I got religious I said listen, God, I don't see no angels, I don't see no demons.
- 39:40Rick Costa: I said if I see you, just don't scare the crap out of me, You're okay.
- 39:43Rick Costa: But I don't see nothing else.
- 39:44Rick Costa: Right, yeah.
- 39:47Carmen Lezeth: I think, at heart I'm always a skeptic and not, I mean, I do believe in the things that have happened to me.
- 39:54Carmen Lezeth: But if I had to have a conversation with, like, a scientist, I would absolutely be like, oh yeah, the crow was whatever, their wing was hurt, and they just happened to fall on me and you know what I mean, and it was just perfect timing and it would have happened anyway or something you know.
- 40:09Carmen Lezeth: But I'd be like, yeah, no, there are patterns, I believe, and there's a reason why it happened the way it happened, because I needed to know or feel, even if it's not true, that's what I so that's the flip part of it.
- 40:21Carmen Lezeth: I needed to understand that Richard was okay.
- 40:24Carmen Lezeth: So it doesn't matter why it happened.
- 40:27Carmen Lezeth: The effect it had on me was what needed to happen.
- 40:31Carmen Lezeth: So I think that's also sometimes what we do too.
- 40:34Carmen Lezeth: Is that like if we need to hear something from a psychic, we hear it.
- 40:38Carmen Lezeth: You know, know, like I remember going with a friend of mine to a psychic and she, at this point, I'm like I ain't paying no psychic, nothing, no more, unless it's like it's on venice beach and it's like five dollars.
- 40:48Carmen Lezeth: You know, just like when tourists come or whatever.
- 40:50Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, right, you know.
- 40:51Carmen Lezeth: But I went with her and I remember and she was like I just want to want to see what they think about him.
- 40:56Carmen Lezeth: She was having issues in her marriage and I sat there and I was like, oh my God, like everything she was saying.
- 41:03Carmen Lezeth: I was like, oh my God, rolling my eyes, whatever, because my friend Tanya was like, uh-huh, I'm like, oh my God, I couldn't fool you with that $200.
- 41:14Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean, yeah, so yeah.
- 41:18Rick Costa: I got an interesting story.
- 41:19Rick Costa: So there was this guy and it was at a church and he was a guy from Africa and he was a prophet.
- 41:27Carmen Lezeth: Notice the air quotes for the people that are listening.
- 41:29Carmen Lezeth: What makes somebody a prophet?
- 41:32Rick Costa: Well, there's some churches that believe that God will speak directly and give you information.
- 41:35Rick Costa: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 41:36Rick Costa: So I went because a lot of people from my church were gone and now again.
- 41:42Rick Costa: Mind you, before I became religious quote, I was into all that stuff, but then, after I said I really said this like seriously, like God, please, from now on, if anybody tries to read me, just don't let it happen.
- 41:55Rick Costa: Just let them just not get it right at all.
- 41:57Rick Costa: So this guy's in church and he's literally going to people saying how many kids there have, and they have how, what their ages are, their names?
- 42:07Rick Costa: He could tell you social security number.
- 42:09Rick Costa: He's like I'm gonna say the whole thing.
- 42:11Rick Costa: But I was like wait a minute, this is my problem.
- 42:16Rick Costa: Problem.
- 42:17Rick Costa: Why would God do this?
- 42:18Rick Costa: Like you're just making it.
- 42:21Rick Costa: You're making it look like look how powerful I am and look how in tune I am.
- 42:25Rick Costa: Like this is not glorifying God, this is glorifying you.
- 42:30Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: And a lot of that information you can find on Google nowadays.
- 42:34Carmen Lezeth: Well, it was before Google, but remember there was that guy.
- 42:36Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I'm sorry, rick, will you?
- 42:38Rick Costa: finish.
- 42:38Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, he's going around and everybody's like wow, wow, wow.
- 42:41Rick Costa: And I'm like I don't know, this is too much, this is too much.
- 42:45Rick Costa: And then he came to me.
- 42:47Rick Costa: I was like oh, here we go, brother, stand up.
- 42:50Rick Costa: Okay, sure, do you have a wife?
- 42:53Rick Costa: No, do you have a wife?
- 42:55Rick Costa: No, do you have a girlfriend?
- 42:56Rick Costa: No, do you live with a woman?
- 42:59Rick Costa: No, I wasn't.
- 43:00Rick Costa: That time I was living upstairs.
- 43:02Carmen Lezeth: Living with a woman?
- 43:02Rick Costa: No, and he kept asking me all these things and everything was wrong.
- 43:06Rick Costa: I was like thank you God.
- 43:07Rick Costa: I told you to God, bless you brother.
- 43:10Rick Costa: I walked away, I moved on.
- 43:14Rick Costa: Wait a minute.
- 43:14Rick Costa: He was 100% with everybody, but then with this guy, what happened?
- 43:18Rick Costa: I don't know what happened.
- 43:19Rick Costa: Y'all stupid.
- 43:20Carmen Lezeth: No, that's mean.
- 43:22Carmen Lezeth: I mean I know what you're saying, but again, I'm not for the scammers.
- 43:27Carmen Lezeth: Remember, there was a guy on Oprah I forget what his name was.
- 43:33Carmen Lezeth: It was a famous guy who was the medium guy.
- 43:34Carmen Lezeth: He would walk in the audience, you know who I'm talking about.
- 43:34Carmen Lezeth: He would walk in the audience and he'd be like walk in the audience, you know who I'm talking about.
- 43:35Carmen Lezeth: He would walk in the audience and he'd be like oh, somebody's sister wants me to talk to them.
- 43:40Carmen Lezeth: Did someone recently lose a sister?
- 43:42Carmen Lezeth: Like you're in a room Right, like I could do it, like I can figure it out.
- 43:51Rick Costa: Somebody's mother started with the letter M I know Right.
- 43:57Carmen Lezeth: Like, if I can remember his name.
- 43:58Carmen Lezeth: I know you guys remember him or whatever, but it doesn't matter, he, you know, they ended up finding out he was a fraud or whatever big surprise, you know.
- 44:04Carmen Lezeth: But I think part of what people don't understand is a lot of the stuff that people were getting from these people were things they were finding out about them not just on the internet, but in your trash also, or or in your mail or whatever.
- 44:17Carmen Lezeth: Like he would have all these examples of people who are like, oh my God, he knew all this, this and this, and you could tell that there was somebody who did a lot of research on him, you know.
- 44:25Carmen Lezeth: And then in the next breath, um, it's also the way in which and I'm a good reader of people's facial expressions and the way in which you know everybody has a tick, just naturally, because of the way I was raised, I don't like, but you know what I'm saying Like and, and I think, a lot of people.
- 44:42Carmen Lezeth: It's the same reason why people can do lie detector tests, like police can figure out certain people, whether you're wearing that thing or not, if you're lying or not, just based on the way they can read your faces.
- 44:54Carmen Lezeth: I'm not saying all police before, but you know what I'm saying those people that do all that forensic crazy stuff.
- 44:58Carmen Lezeth: That's part of it, you know.
- 45:01Carmen Lezeth: But I also think sometimes we want to believe, and we need to believe because it fuels us to feel better about whatever it is, and so that's why part of me doesn't want to admonish, like some of the people you had in the audience.
- 45:17Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean, didn't want that, and so you rejected it, you know, and that's awesome.
- 45:21Carmen Lezeth: But maybe other people wanted to believe that their cousin who died in a car accident was talking to the medium right.
- 45:28Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 45:29Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if there's any harm in it.
- 45:30Carmen Lezeth: Maybe there is.
- 45:31Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what you guys think it's like with you and the crow.
- 45:33Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: The crow could have, just you know, fallen, but it made you feel better, it made you feel like I totally believe it.
- 45:41Carmen Lezeth: And I also believe the thing in the airplane, like see, I don't believe in coincidences, that one is really hard because I'm like, come on, come on, I was hoping.
- 45:49Carmen Lezeth: I was hoping for a quiet, like next door person or whatever you know, like to have my own seat or be in first class.
- 45:59Carmen Lezeth: You know, I didn't get in first class though, so I don't know.
- 46:01Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, I think.
- 46:05Carmen Lezeth: I think that's probably part of it too.
- 46:07Carmen Lezeth: If we need it, we believe in it, and then it becomes real and it does help us.
- 46:12Carmen Lezeth: I think it's when people manipulate that right.
- 46:16Carmen Lezeth: That it becomes a problem.
- 46:16Carmen Lezeth: And when people are just taking uh that it becomes a problem.
- 46:17Carmen Lezeth: And when people are just taking money from you and telling you you have to buy a crystal because then the evil spirit will keep, you will stay away from you yeah I don't get all the.
- 46:27Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I don't get those crystal things, I just don't I don't know.
- 46:32Rick Costa: To me it's also kind of dumb.
- 46:34Rick Costa: It it's like okay, let's say it's for real, it's a spirit.
- 46:38Rick Costa: Can you take a knife and cut the spirit?
- 46:41Rick Costa: You can't do nothing to it.
- 46:42Rick Costa: What does it care about physical things?
- 46:44Rick Costa: What's a physical thing going to do against the spirit?
- 46:47Rick Costa: I?
- 46:49Carmen Lezeth: don't know what you mean, though.
- 46:50Carmen Lezeth: Are you talking about?
- 46:51Carmen Lezeth: Like somebody trying to sell you crystal?
- 46:53Rick Costa: For example, we watch movies about vampires and, like you, put up the cross the vampire.
- 47:03Rick Costa: For example, we watch movies about vampires and, like you, put up the cross the vampire.
- 47:03Rick Costa: Right, so we have that in our head.
- 47:04Rick Costa: So some people because they think, oh, I think a spirit came to me or whatever evil spirit, so put crosses everywhere or wear a necklace.
- 47:07Rick Costa: I'm like I ain't doing nothing.
- 47:08Rick Costa: What is a physical, what is a spirit that you can't touch and do nothing to it?
- 47:12Rick Costa: What does it care about anything in the physical realm?
- 47:16Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: But is it possible to make that person feel better?
- 47:19Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, can it be symbolic, Can it be something that people are doing Cause it be like it just feels right?
- 47:26Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 47:27Rick Costa: It might make you feel better, but I don't think that thing is like oh no, you put them across, it doesn't care, it's a physical thing, it has no effect on that.
- 47:34Carmen Lezeth: But what if you believe that?
- 47:35Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so, and I'm going to say something because I keep thinking about because you are Christian and you practice it, I mean you do on your show, drinking of the wine and eating of the I was going to say butter, oh, my God.
- 47:54Rick Costa: I'm so tired I'm on popcorn now.
- 47:58Carmen Lezeth: No, I don't mean any disrespect, I'm just I'm so hot, popular now.
- 48:01Carmen Lezeth: I don't mean any disrespect, I'm just I'm so hot right now, like you know what I'm saying, like it doesn't really do anything, but it does do something for you and people believe what they believe, right, I mean, it means something.
- 48:15Carmen Lezeth: So I hear you, I'm not, I'm just being.
- 48:17Carmen Lezeth: I'll give you an example.
- 48:19Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Go ahead.
- 48:19Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So you know, we were both brought up Catholic, even though we're not practicing now.
- 48:24Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So at my front door I have a rosary hanging by the door.
- 48:29Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: I have one in my bedroom door and I take one every time I travel.
- 48:35Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: It's actually my rosary from my first communion that I take with me.
- 48:40Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: So to me, it makes me feel better, it makes me have my faith.
- 48:43Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: You feel safe, yeah.
- 48:46Carmen Lezeth: The rosary though.
- 48:47Carmen Lezeth: Huh, that's interesting.
- 48:49Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I carry a quarter with me.
- 48:56Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Just a random one, or does it have a special?
- 49:00Carmen Lezeth: year, but it just cracks me up like I'm like the whole rabbit's foot thing.
- 49:08Carmen Lezeth: Remember people used to have rabbits I don't believe in luck, but that's a whole other conversation.
- 49:13Carmen Lezeth: Do you guys believe in luck?
- 49:14Carmen Lezeth: The rabbit wasn't that lucky.
- 49:16Carmen Lezeth: No, he wasn't Exactly Right.
- 49:17Carmen Lezeth: But do you guys believe in luck?
- 49:21Carmen Lezeth: See, I don't believe in luck.
- 49:23Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Nah not really.
- 49:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't believe in luck, because if I have to believe in luck, I have to believe in bad luck.
- 49:29Carmen Lezeth: I just don't think it works that way.
- 49:31Carmen Lezeth: I don't think some people get the cloud over them all the time and some people get the sunshine.
- 49:38Carmen Lezeth: You know, I just don't believe in that kind of like.
- 49:41Carmen Lezeth: Why?
- 49:42Carmen Lezeth: Why, especially if you're a good and decent human being who tries hard every day, no matter what mistakes are that you made, why would the universe function that way?
- 49:51Carmen Lezeth: Whatever you believe, you know what I mean.
- 49:53Carmen Lezeth: Like I actually think most people are good and most people have the same shot as anyone else to have joy and happiness.
- 50:03Carmen Lezeth: You know, I have to believe that because if not, I'd be very miserable.
- 50:08Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 50:10Carmen Lezeth: Good point, wow.
- 50:12Carmen Lezeth: So that was kind of a fun, interesting conversation.
- 50:16Carmen Lezeth: Thank you so much.
- 50:17Carmen Lezeth: You guys are awesome.
- 50:18Carmen Lezeth: You guys always go with it Like we do.
- 50:22Carmen Lezeth: What Are you making fun of me?
- 50:23Carmen Lezeth: No, you are too.
- 50:25Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, you know what it is.
- 50:28Carmen Lezeth: I can throw out any subject and you guys are always willing to talk about it, and that's what I love about our little neighborhood show.
- 50:33Carmen Lezeth: It's like I always want to make sure we have something eclectic and different and fun and informative and maybe we learn something you know and now I've learned that.
- 50:45Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia walks around with rosary beads.
- 50:47Carmen Lezeth: I had no idea.
- 50:48Carmen Lezeth: When I travel, I do, I love that, and you guys know that I travel with a specific quarter in my pocket.
- 50:55Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I also have a dream weaver.
- 51:00Carmen Lezeth: I have a dream weaver that I have in my car and uh, yeah, which is interesting, because someone gave it to me.
- 51:02Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Uh, barry mansfield, you mean a dream catcher.
- 51:04Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, what did I call it dream weaver?
- 51:07Carmen Lezeth: Isn't that a dream weaver, is it?
- 51:12Carmen Lezeth: What's it called a dream catch?
- 51:14Cynthia Ruiz Lopez: Yeah, it's supposed to catch bad dreams.
- 51:18Carmen Lezeth: I have my doings in my car and it's a circle with netting in it and feathers Dream catcher.
- 51:24Rick Costa: It's American, you know what.
- 51:26Carmen Lezeth: For 30 years I've been calling it a dream weaver, and that's how it's going to stay.
- 51:34Carmen Lezeth: Anyway, everyone, thank you so much for hanging out with us today.
- 51:38Carmen Lezeth: It's always so much fun when you guys come and visit.
- 51:40Carmen Lezeth: Please make sure that you come and visit us again on Friday nights at 6 pm Pacific, 9 pm Eastern.
- 51:47Carmen Lezeth: We're always here on Sundays as well, and remember, at the end of the day, it really is all about the joy.
- 51:53Carmen Lezeth: Thanks everyone.
- 51:55Carmen Lezeth: Bye, dream weaver.
- 51:57Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, about the joy.
- 52:04Carmen Lezeth: Everyone.
- 52:04Carmen Lezeth: Bye, dream weaver.
- 52:05Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god.
- 52:05Carmen Lezeth: Thanks for stopping by.
- 52:06Carmen Lezeth: All about the joy.
- 52:06Carmen Lezeth: Be better and stay beautiful folks.
- 52:09Carmen Lezeth: Have a sweet day.
