Latest / He's Hot but Something's Off... / HHBSO 135: Do You Follow Brands on Social Media?
Transcript
- 0:02Hello and welcome to He's hot, but something is off.
- 0:08We're up to like 130 something episodes.
- 0:11So every time, every time I edit one of these episodes and I make
- 0:18the YouTube thumbnail and for some reason I chose to put the
- 0:22episode number on the YouTube thumbnail in addition to when
- 0:25I'm typing up the title for each podcast, the episode number is
- 0:29right at the top 130 something episodes.
- 0:32Well, it didn't think we last that long.
- 0:34Anyways, Good Thursday to you. Welcome to the podcast and thank
- 0:41you for tuning in. I never thank anyone for tuning
- 0:43in. All 5 of you, it used to be 3 of
- 0:45you. Now we have 5 of you listening,
- 0:47which is great. I almost put a hat on for
- 0:50today's video podcast. It really depends, you know, if
- 0:54I'm wearing a hat that day, that means I try to put the
- 0:58headphones on without the hat. And then I checked myself in the
- 1:05selfie camera on my phone and it didn't look good.
- 1:08Therefore I reach for the hat. But or not today I thought I
- 1:12think I should probably put on a hat for the podcast today.
- 1:15And but before I did that, I checked myself in the mirror.
- 1:17I got a mirror behind me. Oh, by the way, I also have a a
- 1:20little gesturely travels logo in the back.
- 1:24We'll get that in a bit. But yeah, I was checking myself
- 1:25in the mirror. The one that I have, I've got
- 1:27this body length mirror by the door and what the hair looks OK.
- 1:33It looks OK today. It looks OK today.
- 1:35So therefore I'm not wearing the hat.
- 1:36But now that I'm wearing, I feel like the hair is a little out of
- 1:39control. Anyways, yeah, I am trying to
- 1:43spruce up the background of the video podcast a little bit.
- 1:47So if you're watching again, video version of all the podcast
- 1:51episodes are on my YouTube channel.
- 1:53Just Joey T across my left shoulder.
- 1:55So on the right side of your screen, you can probably just
- 1:58see the Just Joey Travels logo on my iPad.
- 2:03What I don't want to do is I do this podcast, but I also do a
- 2:07podcast for Just Joey Travels, which is the Gay Cruise and
- 2:11Travel podcast. When I do that for the podcast,
- 2:15I want there to be a bit more branding, more just Joey Travels
- 2:20branding in the video podcast itself.
- 2:23So I want the logo of just Joey Travels to be in the background
- 2:27somewhere. So I'm just testing this out on
- 2:31this podcast to see what would it look like if it had an iPad
- 2:35in the back just with that logo. I know it's going to be out of
- 2:37focus because it's like, I don't know, it's like 6 feet behind
- 2:43me, that shelf, so it's going to be a little blurry, but that's
- 2:47maybe one way to do it. I also want something where I
- 2:50can change, you know, maybe I'm talking about something else or
- 2:53if I want to do something about Magnet, which is a skin care
- 2:57line, I can change it to the magnet logo.
- 2:59So I could have something printed, just printed on to
- 3:02like, I don't know, some poster board or something.
- 3:05Oh, I also ordered some T-shirts for just to be travels couple of
- 3:09like sleeveless Tees or tank tops, and I'm going to start
- 3:13wearing those for some of the episodes of the Gay Cruise and
- 3:18travel podcast. So that's pretty exciting.
- 3:21I'm really getting more into the planning of the different
- 3:25businesses now. One thing I wanted to talk about
- 3:28that's related to that is I'm not, I've never been super duper
- 3:34into social media. That's not a problem when it's
- 3:38like, you know, when it's your personal personal social media
- 3:42for your personal life. It doesn't really matter if you
- 3:44do it or don't do it. I know lots of people that they
- 3:48don't even have any social media accounts.
- 3:50Maybe they technically have one from like years back, but they
- 3:53don't never post anything. They just don't.
- 3:57Maybe they have it just to use Messenger.
- 4:00You know, I had Facebook for I've had Facebook for a very
- 4:03long time, since I was in high school.
- 4:06And for a good part of it over like the last 6 or 8 or 10
- 4:12years, there was a good chunk of it where I didn't really use
- 4:15Facebook. I used Facebook Messenger, but
- 4:17that was like, that's an app on my phone.
- 4:19You know, the messenger app is separate.
- 4:20So to use Facebook Messenger, I don't need to go into Facebook.
- 4:23I don't need to load up the feed or post anything or do any of
- 4:26that jazz. But with the businesses now I
- 4:30kind of need in a way to go into social media.
- 4:34And so I just preconceived notion that, oh, if you're a
- 4:38brand and you want to use social media as part of your marketing,
- 4:43you got to be posting stuff all the time.
- 4:46And I've been doing that with Magnet, the skin care brand.
- 4:51But at some point recently, it just felt like, am I posting
- 4:56things just to post things like what's the real end goal here?
- 5:01So when social media is part of the marketing of a business,
- 5:07it's now treated very differently.
- 5:10I would love to hear what you guys think because a lot of you
- 5:12guys are probably on social media in some way, shape or
- 5:14form. I would love to hear from you
- 5:19what you expect brands to do with their social media
- 5:25accounts, but do you have some sort of preconceived notion or
- 5:28expectation that brands should be posting like 3 * a week every
- 5:34single week? What kind of content would a
- 5:37brand post that but make you stop and actually like look at
- 5:41that because a lot of times when people scroll through social
- 5:44media, it's a feed, right? Instagram, it's a feed TikTok,
- 5:48it's a feed like all, all. It's just like this endless feed
- 5:52of like of, I don't know, it just doesn't end.
- 5:56And a lot of the things I scroll past, it's most of it I scroll
- 6:02past. Honestly, it's like sometimes
- 6:05like the times when I stop scrolling on my feet to look at
- 6:08something, it's because it's someone I follow, therefore I
- 6:12follow them. That means I'm usually
- 6:15interested in something that they post, not on the time.
- 6:17It depends on what they're posting, but it's like an ad I,
- 6:22I'm kind of hardwired or I've developed the muscle memory
- 6:28almost to scroll past ads, especially when I'm through
- 6:31Instagram stories, when I'm like swiping left or right or tapping
- 6:35over things once I see, because an ad looks very different, even
- 6:41just within like the first split second that you see it, an ad
- 6:44looks very different than someone's personal post or story
- 6:48or video or whatever. So, and I've chained myself to
- 6:52like look in the top left corner when I'm going through Instagram
- 6:55stories to see, oh, who posted this?
- 6:57Like every time it swipes right to a new account or I tap on the
- 7:01right side and it goes to like the next account, the next set
- 7:05of stories, I'll like flick my eye up to the top left corner
- 7:08and see if it's like a company or a person.
- 7:12But if it's a person, it's going to be someone I follow.
- 7:14And if it's not a person I follow, it's going to be a
- 7:17company's ads. I don't really follow many
- 7:19companies. I think probably 9899% of the
- 7:23accounts I follow are like people, like actual people.
- 7:27And I don't know if it's like on the grand scheme of things
- 7:32popular for people to follow our brands, Instagram account, our
- 7:36brands, TikTok, our brands, whatever.
- 7:39So as I'm thinking about the strategy, the social media
- 7:42strategy, I'm like, OK, I've been posting 3, three times a
- 7:45week and at some point it just feels like I'm posting just to
- 7:51post. And like there's no real
- 7:57significant constructive end goal.
- 8:00I'm posting it just to do it because I think this what
- 8:04companies are supposed to do, which is not a great reason.
- 8:10It's like if you're going to spend time and effort doing
- 8:13something again, when it's your personal social media, it
- 8:16doesn't matter. There's no end goal to like
- 8:19posting stuff usually for most casual people, right?
- 8:22If you're trying to be like an influencer or whatever, like
- 8:25that's different. Like you're, you're, you're,
- 8:27there's a particular goal there, but you'd be just like a regular
- 8:29person just using social media for regular personal purposes.
- 8:34You're not trying to like become something then it doesn't
- 8:37matter. Post as much or as little as you
- 8:39want. It doesn't really matter.
- 8:41But you're literally it's not for any purpose than
- 8:44entertainment or to like maybe show your friends and family
- 8:47what you're up to. You're basically just doing it
- 8:49for fun. There's nothing on the line when
- 8:51it's a company though, and you're spending dollars and
- 8:54actual time and effort and resources to achieve a goal,
- 8:59which is to like increase your brand visibility and awareness
- 9:03of like increase your sales and gamer followers, like whatever
- 9:05that is. That's an actual goal.
- 9:06Now it's like, OK, I'm doing all this stuff.
- 9:10It doesn't seem to be moving the needle.
- 9:12So I'm doing some research and yeah, I, I would love to, while
- 9:18I'm trying to find out and I would love to hear from you
- 9:19guys. It's like, what do you expect?
- 9:22Like what are your, what do you expect companies to post?
- 9:25Do you even like following company social media accounts
- 9:28like a brand social media accounts.
- 9:31Sometimes when I see ads from brands on my Instagram, I
- 9:39occasionally sometimes am interested in that ad.
- 9:45So once in a great while, I do like tap on the ad to like check
- 9:49out that product that's featured in the ad.
- 9:51But that depends on the algorithm serving up the ad for
- 9:57a product that I already have a interest in, right, Or a type of
- 10:03a product. So the algorithms are getting
- 10:05pretty good, by the way. Yeah.
- 10:07But you know, for me, for the skin care thing, I'm thinking,
- 10:10yeah, I'm throwing all the we're spending time and effort.
- 10:12We're posting three times a week.
- 10:14We're not. I can't really see that we're
- 10:16getting the return on the investment and to sit down and
- 10:19create like 3 posts a week from like a business brand marketing
- 10:25point of view. It's not like I just took a
- 10:28selfie and posted it. That takes like 10 seconds or
- 10:31maybe like a couple minutes. If you want to do like a little
- 10:34touch up on that photo, put a filter in.
- 10:36OK, That's really fast to create one post for magnet.
- 10:40It maybe takes like 15 to 30 minutes.
- 10:44OK, so I already have a stock of photos.
- 10:47Let's say I just do like a regular photo and put some text
- 10:49on it. You know, that could take 15 to
- 10:5130 minutes because, you know, you got to make sure like it has
- 10:56to look professional, but it's coming from like a brand, a
- 10:58company. It's not like a random photo
- 11:00that you can just snap of your phone.
- 11:02It's a photo that I've already taken with a photographer.
- 11:06But then we got to think of, OK, what's the tech line?
- 11:08Like? What's the angle?
- 11:09What are we trying to sell? How are you know what what
- 11:11should that are we? Does it adhere to the brand
- 11:13voice? You know, like all the graphics
- 11:15and the logos need to be put in a certain rate because the
- 11:18branding visually has to be consistent across all the
- 11:21different posts and across our website and our online presence.
- 11:25It gets you have to think of all these things, right?
- 11:29You can't just throw a random selfie on there and then have it
- 11:32look good. But I'm actually rethinking the
- 11:34whole social media marketing strategy for Magnet and that's
- 11:40in the works. But I would obviously love to
- 11:42hear what you guys think about what your perceptions are of how
- 11:46brands present themselves on social media and things like
- 11:52things you've seen from brands, either ads or posts or videos or
- 11:55whatever on social media that'd be seen from brands.
- 11:57That was like, oh wow, that caught my eye.
- 11:59Because again, I'm sure a lot of you do this too.
- 12:01When I see an ad or something from a brand about a product,
- 12:06most of the time I scroll it past because I am not really
- 12:11there to see ads. This isn't about ads.
- 12:14These are what I'm talking about are just like the posts that you
- 12:16would a company would do, a brand would do just on their own
- 12:19social media account because you can.
- 12:21It's there's like, you know, Ford, a Honda or Amazon or I
- 12:26don't know, whatever. Like some company they have
- 12:28their social media account and these are just the posts that
- 12:30they're doing, doing ads is separate from them.
- 12:32So I'm not talking about the ads.
- 12:34I'm just thinking on the social media account.
- 12:36I feel like what I'm doing right now is just like what I think I
- 12:39should be doing and I'm going to change it.
- 12:40So I'd love to hear you guys feedback on that.
- 12:42Related to that though, So obviously I've got just Joey
- 12:45travels and for just Joey travels, it's a very different
- 12:49business. And I also see it as something
- 12:54like less serious, not that I don't take that business
- 12:58seriously, but you know, it's a travel company for like cruises
- 13:05for vacations. So the vibe is a much more like
- 13:08chill and relax vibe than a skin care company where like the vibe
- 13:13is, it's, it's not like a bank, you know, it's not that level of
- 13:17serious, but also running it behind the scenes.
- 13:20I know like the investment that has to go into a skin care
- 13:23company, the logistics and like the manufacturing and like the
- 13:28inventory that is so much more in terms of like the investment
- 13:36that it requires. And for me, it's like there's a
- 13:38lot more money on the line where it's like with the travel
- 13:40agency, it's like, I, I, I just want to get people on to great
- 13:44vacations. There's no inventory, there's no
- 13:46logistics, There's not like tons and tons of money I have to put
- 13:49down on the line. So it's a very different type of
- 13:52business. And I do take them both
- 13:53seriously, but the vibe that it gives off, at least for me
- 13:56running them is very, very different.
- 13:58So with the just where he travels, that Instagram account
- 14:02that is a much younger Instagram account and I've been doing that
- 14:05business is newer. If they're roughly launched at
- 14:07the same time that gets that's gotten way more followers.
- 14:11Obviously it's it's it's comparing like apples to oranges
- 14:14to such different businesses. But the end of the day, both are
- 14:18both of these things are things that have to market right.
- 14:21And I basically put a lot of snippets of the gay Christian
- 14:25travel podcast as reels and also Tik Toks too is also on the
- 14:30TikTok onto the account. And what I'm learning that, you
- 14:36know, within social media, like wheels and videos do a lot
- 14:40better. Carousels do a lot better if
- 14:41that's when you have multiple images on a post and just like a
- 14:44single image. So and also with gesture we
- 14:48travels like me, my face is in a lot of those wheels and
- 14:55apparently that's good too. So I just preconceived the
- 14:58notion that if you're selling a product, the you need to have
- 15:01like a nice professional photo of the product on a social media
- 15:06post and you put some sort of text on it to make it like
- 15:11markety, if that makes any sense.
- 15:13But I'm also discovering that, well, with everybody's doing
- 15:17that, your stuff looks the same as everyone else's, but every
- 15:21company is putting is having like a nice professionally taken
- 15:26photo of their product and then put in some text on it of some
- 15:29sort, right? Don't no matter what you're
- 15:33selling, it could be skin care, it could be like a vacuum
- 15:36cleaner, it could be, I don't know, a spray bottle.
- 15:40It could be like a car. Like it doesn't matter what it
- 15:42is. That's always like what is on
- 15:47like social media and also like the ads.
- 15:49So I'm thinking I'm going to do something a little different
- 15:51because if I don't do something different, I don't feel like I'm
- 15:53going to stand out. And the marketing is so
- 15:55important, especially for matinee, like the marketing is
- 15:59so important. So that's what I've been
- 16:01thinking about a lot. But it also got me thinking
- 16:03about the way I use social media because like I don't every time
- 16:07I'm thinking, well, every time I see an, an ad or like I see a
- 16:10product on a post, I just don't want to see it.
- 16:13So it's like, well, I, I'm also on the other side of that fence
- 16:16at the same time of I have stuff to sell.
- 16:18But if everyone else behaves like I do when they see a
- 16:21product, a photo of a product, doesn't matter if it's an ad or
- 16:25like an organic post and they just swipe it away, scroll right
- 16:29past it, like, OK, I'm, am I doomed for the start?
- 16:33So that's something I am trying to figure out, but it just got
- 16:38me like, it just got me thinking like, OK, like I can't just do
- 16:41everything. I can't just do the same thing
- 16:44that everyone else is doing. But I don't think it just it's
- 16:48clearly not working. It's not working that well
- 16:51anyways. Let's not talk about business.
- 16:54Let's talk about something else. I work so much though, it's hard
- 16:58to think about anything else. My Patreon is still there by the
- 17:03way. I've gotten quite a few more
- 17:04sign ups for my Patreon. So thank you.
- 17:07Some of you, quite a few of you signed up in the last like 3 or
- 17:124 weeks. So I think I'm doing maybe just
- 17:15like a slightly better job marketing the Patreon and I do
- 17:20want to make some slight change to the Patreon.
- 17:22Oh my God. I'm just looking at my notes
- 17:24here sometime. I do have notes for this, not an
- 17:26outline, but I sometimes have notes.
- 17:28There is a whole trip that I forgot to post a travel vlog for
- 17:33when I went to, I think it was my Taipei trip because I went to
- 17:37Taipei in the fall. So only like a few months ago.
- 17:42And in January, I was going through some of my, I was doing
- 17:49some file management, you know, with all the various video files
- 17:53that I have between like vlogging and podcasting and
- 17:59doing some of the cruise videos. And like the only fans I've got
- 18:03a lot of videos. I have a little file server in
- 18:07my little coat closet and the file server has I think we're up
- 18:12to 14 terabytes of storage on that.
- 18:18And I've been getting a warning that I'm running out of space of
- 18:20the 14 terabytes. And the vast majority of the
- 18:25files that's taking up that 14 terabytes of space are videos
- 18:28that I've taken over the years for content creation for all the
- 18:31different things. So when I record a video
- 18:33podcast, once the actual podcast video file and the audio file is
- 18:40produced, then I can delete the raw files and that's fine.
- 18:47But I do keep the final product, like the actual video podcast
- 18:50file that's been all edited that gets uploaded to YouTube and
- 18:53also the MP3 that's the audio that gets uploaded to like the
- 18:56podcast platforms. The final files I actually keep
- 19:01those. The raw files, which are much
- 19:02bigger, I delete for the podcast, for YouTube, for those,
- 19:09for the those after movies I do for cruises.
- 19:13I should keep all the original content, the original files from
- 19:17the cameras. I keep all of those at beside
- 19:20want the ability to sometimes go back and like do new versions or
- 19:25do new edit. So for example, the Harmony 2018
- 19:28cruise. I did a remaster, if you will.
- 19:33I talked about this like I think a couple months ago how like,
- 19:37oh, I had this new version of the Harmony 2018 cruise.
- 19:40I redid the edit basically, and that was because since 2018,
- 19:48technology has improved. The software has improved.
- 19:50My I've got a much better computer now and my editing
- 19:53skills are also much improved over like the last eight years
- 19:59that it's a much better version of that video that I can edit
- 20:04now. But it's the software and the
- 20:05hardware and my skills versus what I was able to do in 2018
- 20:09right after I took that cruise and I was able to do it in like
- 20:11a higher resolution. It's much sharper, like just the
- 20:15whole thing is just like much nicer and pleasing to look at in
- 20:18in my opinion. But I could only do that
- 20:21remastering and that re edit because I had the original
- 20:24footage and the original files from those cameras back then
- 20:27stored away. So when I do one of those, like
- 20:31after movies, when I go on a trip and I like have different
- 20:34cameras, you know, and I have the raw footage, I keep that raw
- 20:37footage. I've also been keeping the raw
- 20:38footage for everything I've been doing for Kian.
- 20:41So for however long I've do, we're doing we're up to I was do
- 20:44episode numbers for Kian. We're up to 430 something.
- 20:47So I've edited or I've produced 430 something unique videos for
- 20:54only fans. That's kind of crazy.
- 20:55Obviously some of them are just like solos and like little,
- 20:58little little clips, but some of them are like some of them were
- 21:03from collapse that were multiple hours long with multiple
- 21:06cameras. So yeah, I kept all of the
- 21:11original finish for everything and I need to like look at that.
- 21:15But yeah, I keep a lot. I keep a lot of the video files.
- 21:20I don't know how we started talking about my file management
- 21:23for videos when I was talking about the Patreon.
- 21:25Anyways, yeah, welcome to the Patreon.
- 21:27Oh, yeah. I was going to say I wanted to
- 21:29do something a little bit different for the Patreon.
- 21:30Oh, yeah. Then I talked about how I forgot
- 21:32to post the travel vlog from Taipei.
- 21:34And then so I'll talk about. Oh, yeah, that's where we got.
- 21:37OK, There is logic to how I think.
- 21:40OK, yeah, so I was doing my file management, but I have so many
- 21:44video files and I was going through it and I was just making
- 21:47sure everything was backed up because from my phone.
- 21:49Because if I vlog something on my phone, I make, I make doubly
- 21:53sure that I've transferred those files from my phone and backed
- 21:56it up to my computer or like my file server or somewhere else
- 22:00before I delete it off my phone to free up more space for like
- 22:03the next trip. And that's how I found out.
- 22:06Oh, I vlogged doing Taipei and I didn't post it and I don't fully
- 22:15remember why, but I think when I was in Taipei, I have to double
- 22:21check. I was just doing the file
- 22:22management. So I didn't have time to like
- 22:24stop and contact switch and like double check whether like what
- 22:27happened or like if I made a decision or whatever.
- 22:29But I, I just wanted to stay focused.
- 22:30OK, we need, just need to like back up these files right now.
- 22:34We have to put a pin and come back to like what happened to
- 22:38the the Taipei blog? I think I was vlogging it.
- 22:41I remember when I was vlogging it when I was in Taipei and I
- 22:43was thinking, I don't think this is very interesting.
- 22:45Maybe we won't post this. So I should have to like, but
- 22:49sometimes I will record things and then make a decision not to
- 22:53post something because either as I'm doing it, I'm let you know
- 22:56what, this is not going to be good.
- 22:58Or I've gone the raw footage I've filmed and vlogged the
- 23:02thing and then when I'm reviewing the footage, I'm like,
- 23:05this isn't going to be good. So there are occasionally times
- 23:08where for YouTube videos for like the cruise videos, also for
- 23:13like logging in for Patreon and also for key in.
- 23:18When you produce enough content for something, eventually you
- 23:22will get to a point where like you record something that's not
- 23:24good, that's not going to be posted either.
- 23:26You need to redo it. I've redone stuff a few times,
- 23:30not a lot. It's rare, but sometimes you
- 23:31have to rerecord because the original, it was the first time
- 23:36you did it, it just wasn't good. And in those cases, the first
- 23:39time you did it, you just treat it as practice, OK, You've done
- 23:42it once, you got the kinks worked out basically, and you
- 23:47have some experience doing it once.
- 23:50So like just treat it as a dry run and let's re record it and
- 23:54have it be much better. But there have been times where
- 23:56I've recorded things where it's like, yeah, like while I'm
- 24:00recording, I'm like, I don't think this is going to be good
- 24:01enough to go up. Or when I'm looking at the raw
- 24:04content afterwards, I'm like, this isn't good enough to go up.
- 24:07So I think with this one, with the Taipei, it's like I did
- 24:11remember thinking at one point, I'm just here for four days to
- 24:14do collapse. I'm literally just doing
- 24:16collapse. It's the weather has was not
- 24:18good. It was raining outside.
- 24:19I couldn't show you guys any of like what it was like outside in
- 24:23Taipei because it was just raining and drizzly the whole
- 24:25time and I was just in my hotel the entire time.
- 24:28I just hosted Collapse. Those are still going up, by the
- 24:32way. But yeah, I'll double check.
- 24:35That other travel vlog that is going up that I know is good
- 24:40enough to go up, don't worry, is from the cruise that we just
- 24:45went on the Symphony in February.
- 24:48So that was only a few weeks ago.
- 24:50So that vlog is going to come out sometime in March.
- 24:55So I'm excited to have travel vlogs kind of making a comeback.
- 25:00Obviously, you know, in we did, I did a short Vancouver one in
- 25:03December, but you know, January didn't do any travel.
- 25:09You know, November, I think the Taipei in October, November
- 25:14didn't travel. But there's going to be at least
- 25:17the Symphony 1 coming up very soon.
- 25:20And then I'm going to do probably the two cruises I
- 25:24mentioned on my Patreon. And someone asked about this.
- 25:27So I've got the Atlantis LA my school cruise in mid-april.
- 25:31Definitely will have a vlog on that for sure, 100%.
- 25:35And I am, I'm going to make a decision sometime next week or
- 25:42over this weekend as to whether to like fully commit to that
- 25:46inaugural cruise on the Virgin ship that is going to have its
- 25:52first sailing at the beginning of April.
- 25:54So the same ship that Atlanta is going to sail from airway down
- 25:56to Mexico, the brilliant lady that is just launching its first
- 26:02inaugural commercial sailing is 2 weeks before the Atlantis
- 26:06sailing on the exact same ship. So my plan was to go on the
- 26:08inaugural and check it out basically.
- 26:12And it would be just be like a work trip.
- 26:13It would be a content trip. It would be a work trip.
- 26:15I'll be kind of reporting and posting live from on board that
- 26:19cruise as well. And obviously there will
- 26:22probably be some sort of vlog about that as well.
- 26:24I don't have any plans for I don't know what's going to
- 26:28happen in May. I have EDC tickets, but I don't
- 26:32think I don't think I can. I don't think I should be
- 26:35spending money on that. Ed CS quite expensive.
- 26:38So and I went to EDC last year. I love going to EDC.
- 26:41It's so much fun. I love, love, love going to it.
- 26:44I just don't think it's a smart financial move this year given
- 26:47that I went last year and I also wanted to do this additional
- 26:50inaugural Virgin cruise before the Atlantis 1.
- 26:53And I have to pay for them. I don't get them free.
- 26:57So. And in June, I did just buy
- 27:00tickets and the hotels for Circuit Festival Asia and
- 27:03Pattaya. But that's not that expensive to
- 27:07do because I am able to get so much cheap flights to get over
- 27:11to Bangkok. The event itself was not that
- 27:14expensive was like just it was like about $250 for VIP tickets
- 27:19for like the whole 3 days of the festival and the hotel was not
- 27:24that expensive. I mean, just in, in Thailand,
- 27:27things are not as expensive, so they'll be travel vlog from that
- 27:30as well. So there you go more travel
- 27:31vlogs coming up eventually. Make sure you subscribe to the
- 27:36Patreon. And I, I, I just have to plug
- 27:39the Patreon by the way, But I, I think when creators plug
- 27:43Patreons, there's always like you have to pay.
- 27:47I get it. But you can follow me for free
- 27:50on Patreon. So one of the things I want to
- 27:52do more on Patreon is have a bit more content for the free
- 27:57members. I've already started doing some
- 27:59free posts, so once in a while there'll be a free post, which
- 28:02means anyone that visits my Patreon, even if you don't like
- 28:06follow for free, you just you've never been on Patreon before.
- 28:10You just go to my Patreon page without being a free follower or
- 28:14anything, you're going to start to see some free post once in a
- 28:18while. Obviously most of the content
- 28:19will be reserved for the paying members because the people that
- 28:23subscribe to the Patreon of money are like really the people
- 28:26that they've chosen to spend some of their hard earned
- 28:29dollars to support me in my content creation, which I'm so
- 28:33super thankful for. So obviously I have to give the
- 28:36people that pay, like, the best content, the most content.
- 28:41Yeah. But even if you just like a
- 28:42casual fan of mine, you want to just like, follow for free or
- 28:46just like, look at a Patreon page, I'm going to have
- 28:49occasional content because you know what, for example, I just
- 28:52took a selfie. Sometimes I take selfies, not
- 28:54all the time, not as much as some people or a lot of people.
- 28:58And I think the average default person will post it on their
- 29:02Instagram. It's like the obvious place to
- 29:05post a selfie right on Instagram.
- 29:07You know what my default intuition is to post it on
- 29:10Patreon. Like I'm not lying.
- 29:11I'm not saying it just to get you to subscribe, but I will
- 29:14sometimes post selfies on you can go to my Instagram and see
- 29:19like how many selfies I posted, how often.
- 29:21Like it's not like I'm posting a selfie there every week.
- 29:24It's not as often. Again, most of my time spent on
- 29:27social media is on the brand accounts.
- 29:31It's for just Joey Travels and it's going to be for Magnet.
- 29:36It's not really for posting things on just Joey T.
- 29:41So I post videos and photos like way more often.
- 29:45The last, I'm pretty sure the last like 3 or 4 selfies I
- 29:48posted were on Patreon. It's just the default place I
- 29:52post because I don't know, it's just nicer to post something
- 29:56onto Patreon where it's like people that want to follow me
- 30:00even if it's for free. Then on Instagram where like
- 30:03it's just out on the Internet and there's like all sorts of
- 30:05people. Even on my own personal Islam
- 30:07accounts, sometimes I get those like hate comments and I've
- 30:09talked about comments before and it given a choice to post a
- 30:14selfie to maybe like I've got about maybe like 100 something
- 30:18total followers, including a lot of free followers on Patreon.
- 30:24The people that have taken the effort to go all the way to my
- 30:26Patreon, I know they're not haters.
- 30:28I know they appreciate when I post things and they like me.
- 30:32I would much rather post it to like 100 people there than post
- 30:34to like However, maybe I'll get a 10,000 views or like 100,000
- 30:39views onto my Instagram if I take my put my selfie there.
- 30:43But it's like for, for like, I don't know, just because 100,000
- 30:48people view my selfie, does that mean anything?
- 30:50No. Does it matter to me to get
- 30:53like, I don't know, 1000 likes on my selfie on Instagram?
- 30:58Not really. I'd rather post it onto my
- 31:00Patreon. But these like the people that
- 31:03actually care to go all the way to my Patreon, even their free
- 31:05followers. And I get like the best comments
- 31:08from my paid subscribers. Honestly, we actually have
- 31:11actual conversations and they ask me like good questions when
- 31:15like postings or like ask questions and things like that
- 31:18have topics of discussion on my Patreon.
- 31:19So there you go. The Patreon, if you want to just
- 31:21go there and follow for free without paying any money, do
- 31:24that. But I've already started posting
- 31:26some free content. I kind of want to keep it up
- 31:28because before I was very concentrated on the people that
- 31:31were paying and then I noticed, you know, like 80% of my
- 31:34followers are free followers. I want to give them something
- 31:36too, but I'm so used to just posting on Patreon before or
- 31:40anything else. So there you go, a little plug
- 31:42for my Patreon, especially for those of you that don't want to
- 31:44spend some money. And I know things are expensive,
- 31:47people have lots of subscriptions, but I still want
- 31:49to give my free followers something as well on Patreon.
- 31:53That will wrap it up for today and until next time, bye y'all.
