Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on everybody? Jeff Mosher,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan, and the big day is now less than
- 0:19Speaker 1: forty eight hours away. It is actually Thursday night, eight o'clock.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm bad at math, but anyway, Thursday night, Yeah, thank you.
- 0:28Speaker 1: The game with the event, the big event, the first
- 0:31Speaker 1: round of the NFL Draft will kick off. And first
- 0:34Speaker 1: of all, Adam, I think that after we did you,
- 0:38Speaker 1: me and Andrew de Checo did the mock draft, our
- 0:40Speaker 1: annual ITB mock draft the other night, we really struggled
- 0:47Speaker 1: just in general finding the right pieces which we previewed.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We said, this is going to be a weird first round,
- 0:54Speaker 1: that many of the top talents are players who don't
- 0:56Speaker 1: play positional value type positions, and so I'm ready for
- 1:01Speaker 1: anything to happen. Six teams have two first round picks.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That's pretty landmark. I think it's gonna be really interesting
- 1:09Speaker 1: and there's a lot to talk about. But yeah, I
- 1:11Speaker 1: think that the first round in general is going to
- 1:13Speaker 1: be it's gonna be surprising. I'll say that.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So on that I had one I had one personal
- 1:21Speaker 2: executive saying that his team graded just nine players with
- 1:25Speaker 2: first round grades. It's true, first round universal grades. Yep,
- 1:30Speaker 2: that's on your point about our mock draft the three
- 1:33Speaker 2: of us. Well, that's what made it so tough because
- 1:36Speaker 2: you see a need you go, wow, do they really
- 1:38Speaker 2: want to take this player there? Well, they have to
- 1:40Speaker 2: take someone, they have to turn a card in. And
- 1:43Speaker 2: I love when fans go they'll just straight down who
- 1:45Speaker 2: wants to trap?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, right.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It's a bad draft for the first round. Sure, probably
- 1:51Speaker 2: twe of these players will be really good players at
- 1:53Speaker 2: the next level down the road, but coming into the process,
- 1:59Speaker 2: teams don't think this is a very good first round.
- 2:01Speaker 2: It's that that's the one thing they agree on. Now,
- 2:03Speaker 2: every board is different, right, and the boards put together
- 2:07Speaker 2: for how a by variety of reasons, by skill set,
- 2:12Speaker 2: system fit off the field issues, football character, There's so
- 2:17Speaker 2: many variables that go into it. And what I find
- 2:21Speaker 2: interesting is some teams in football characters, they don't look
- 2:23Speaker 2: at it the same way. Like there's some stuff some
- 2:25Speaker 2: teams are putting up with, like, you know what, we
- 2:26Speaker 2: don't have a problem with that. We'll we have the
- 2:29Speaker 2: infrastructure to handle this. Some teams are like, no, non starter,
- 2:31Speaker 2: We're not dealing with it. So it's it's interesting to
- 2:33Speaker 2: see how players are viewed by different clubs.
- 2:35Speaker 1: All right, so, for the purposes of this podcast, really
- 2:38Speaker 1: close here to the first round, we're gonna just empty
- 2:41Speaker 1: the notebook on what we know about these prospects, these
- 2:43Speaker 1: teams that want prospects and give you the last minute
- 2:46Speaker 1: intel that everybody wants all around the league about pretty
- 2:50Speaker 1: much everybody that we've spoken to. And I know, Adam,
- 2:52Speaker 1: you've spoken to a ton of people, both personnel people, coaches,
- 2:54Speaker 1: all that around the league. I've spoken to some personnel people.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So we got good stuff. Where do you want to start, well, position.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It's funny, honestly, just go to quarterback. Everybody knows this
- 3:06Speaker 2: is a week draft. You know next year could be better.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But with Ty Simpson, let me just explain something that
- 3:13Speaker 2: someone who's been in league a long time said. You know,
- 3:17Speaker 2: because people knock Ty Simpson about his size, it's not
- 3:20Speaker 2: like you know, Russell Wilson is. This guy told me
- 3:25Speaker 2: Russell Wilson for a number of years, build his body up.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You know he was I don't know what he waited
- 3:29Speaker 2: as a rookie, but it couldn't been much over two
- 3:30Speaker 2: hundred then over four or five years, he really built
- 3:33Speaker 2: up his upper body type Simpson Ty Simpsons shorter than
- 3:36Speaker 2: six two, But he's got enough arm, there's enough ability
- 3:40Speaker 2: in him. Because I know a lot of people saying, oh,
- 3:42Speaker 2: he'll only be a first round pick because the draft
- 3:44Speaker 2: is so bad and there are a lot of teams
- 3:46Speaker 2: that need quarterbacks. There's some truth to it, but there's
- 3:50Speaker 2: enough in this kid down the line and depending on
- 3:53Speaker 2: who drafts him. Now, I know there's been a lot
- 3:57Speaker 2: of steam about Okay, so this is a bad first round.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Some of the team in the second round, early in
- 4:03Speaker 2: the second round, like the Jets, like the Cardinals, might
- 4:07Speaker 2: want to trade back up into the first round to
- 4:09Speaker 2: go get him. I mean, that's that's a reasonable assumption,
- 4:13Speaker 2: and they clearly need quarterbacks. But he's a kid. The
- 4:17Speaker 2: question with him is when will he be ready to play.
- 4:21Speaker 2: That's the issue where Mendoza where the Raiders already told
- 4:24Speaker 2: us that there's a reason why they broke Kirk Cousins
- 4:26Speaker 2: in they don't want Mendoza playing early. We'll get to
- 4:29Speaker 2: Mendoz in a second. But Simpson's an interesting guy. I've
- 4:33Speaker 2: gotten a little bit. I feel a little bit better
- 4:35Speaker 2: about him. I didn't feel great about him two weeks ago.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But I've talked to a number of people that feel
- 4:40Speaker 2: like with a good veteran to pair him with and
- 4:43Speaker 2: be patient over time, there's something there to develop.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You know, it would be interesting. Someone, a personal person
- 4:50Speaker 1: said to me. I asked, you know, who's somebody that's
- 4:52Speaker 1: going to go in the first round that probably shouldn't.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And after a long pregant pause, I know that's why
- 4:59Speaker 1: this person didn't answer immediately. He had to parse through
- 5:01Speaker 1: all of them in his head. But he said, ty Simpson.
- 5:04Speaker 1: He likes ty Simpson. He just doesn't feel like he's
- 5:06Speaker 1: lead enough to go, but he figures it's probably gonna happen.
- 5:10Speaker 1: For exactly what you said. There's not a lot of quarterbacks,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and there are some teams that have multiple picks and
- 5:15Speaker 1: might be willing to take ty Simpson to have him
- 5:18Speaker 1: sit for a year. I think the sweet spot for him, Adam.
- 5:21Speaker 1: If you're or not sweet spot, maybe starting spot is
- 5:24Speaker 1: you look at the Jets with their second first round
- 5:26Speaker 1: pick at sixteenth overall, they may you could see them
- 5:30Speaker 1: maybe gambling there. I don't know, but that makes yeah,
- 5:33Speaker 1: that's rich. But that makes fifteenth where the Bucks pick.
- 5:36Speaker 1: If you want to get ahead of the Jets, maybe
- 5:38Speaker 1: the starting point, or you know, the Eagles pick twenty third,
- 5:42Speaker 1: the Browns pick twenty fourth. I think you always have
- 5:45Speaker 1: to be worried about the Browns taking a quarterback and
- 5:47Speaker 1: especially reaching for one. So twenty third with the Eagles
- 5:50Speaker 1: could be an interesting spot to trade into. But I
- 5:54Speaker 1: still think in general, based on the intel we've got it,
- 5:57Speaker 1: it's a lot to take this guy in the first round.
- 5:59Speaker 2: He's, yeah, I maybe there are a couple of teams
- 6:03Speaker 2: that have a first round great on them. But I
- 6:04Speaker 2: was talking to someone who's with the Jets when they
- 6:06Speaker 2: drafted Mark Sanchez. That's kind of the other reason why
- 6:08Speaker 2: I brought up Ty Simpson. He goes, Look, we knew
- 6:13Speaker 2: that there were some limitations of Mark Sanchez, if from
- 6:16Speaker 2: an arms strength standpoint, but he had at athleticism, he
- 6:19Speaker 2: could scramble. They were built under Mike Tannebaum and Rex
- 6:28Speaker 2: Ryan to run the football and win with defense, so
- 6:30Speaker 2: they weren't going to put it all on him, right,
- 6:33Speaker 2: So it kind of worked out. But when you're a
- 6:36Speaker 2: quarterback purgatory, you feel like it was kind of like
- 6:38Speaker 2: you were alluding to, like you need to get one.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I'd be shocked with the Browns have done it. They've
- 6:42Speaker 2: said they're they're they're looking at another quarterback. I just
- 6:45Speaker 2: don't see that that early obviously where they're picking. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 2: that would be the biggest stunner in years. But when
- 6:52Speaker 2: you don't have one, you're always looking for one. And
- 6:56Speaker 2: the Eagles have been very fortunate, not that they knew
- 7:00Speaker 2: they were doing this with Jalen Hurts, but going from
- 7:03Speaker 2: Wentz to Hurts, they've they've been they've been pretty good.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But if you look at the teams like the Jets
- 7:09Speaker 2: failed a quarterback, Cardinals Carla Murray wound up not working
- 7:12Speaker 2: out in the end, Titans since Tannehill, and Tannehill was,
- 7:16Speaker 2: by the way, not he was acquired from the Dolphins
- 7:20Speaker 2: to be the backup to Mariota. They didn't know he'd
- 7:23Speaker 2: be starting. Right's quarterback purrogatory. Okay, there's a reason why
- 7:27Speaker 2: these teams are still up there and are so bad Historically,
- 7:32Speaker 2: don't have the quarterback. When you miss a quarterback. The
- 7:34Speaker 2: Raiders have missed. I mean you could go back Dark
- 7:37Speaker 2: car They had some success and they didn't make the
- 7:39Speaker 2: playoffs with him unfortunately, was hurt against the Texas. But
- 7:42Speaker 2: when you miss it sets you back. And this Ty
- 7:46Speaker 2: Simpson thing is at Quagmar because he needs a lot
- 7:49Speaker 2: of work and this is such an important position and
- 7:51Speaker 2: certain certainly important decision.
- 7:53Speaker 1: M h.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I'm fascinated to see where ty Simpson goes because if
- 7:57Speaker 2: if he goes, remember second round is a dart around. Yep,
- 8:02Speaker 2: let's not forget that. I just wanted to talk about
- 8:04Speaker 2: him for a second because he's a little he's somewhat paularizing,
- 8:08Speaker 2: but he's got a little bit more talent than people think.
- 8:11Speaker 1: All Right, any other quarterback I know neuss Meyer. You
- 8:14Speaker 1: know he dealt with that injury great, was pretty high
- 8:17Speaker 1: on on his tape from twenty twenty four, So he'll
- 8:20Speaker 1: be It'll be interesting to see where he winds up to. Yes,
- 8:22Speaker 1: also another guy not great guys.
- 8:25Speaker 2: He's not, but this guy has been highly thought of,
- 8:28Speaker 2: very This is one time when you hear injury stuff,
- 8:31Speaker 2: you go, it's just coming out or Okay, it happened,
- 8:34Speaker 2: But is it's just people trying to build say oh
- 8:36Speaker 2: if not trying to protect him. No, it is the truth.
- 8:39Speaker 2: He's always been highly thought of, right, you like that
- 8:42Speaker 2: he's the son of a really good quarterback coach. And
- 8:45Speaker 2: Doug nuss Meyer. So yeah, he's got a chance to
- 8:48Speaker 2: be a start at the next level. I want to
- 8:50Speaker 2: talk about Cole Payton of North Kota State. A couple
- 8:53Speaker 2: of area scouts of that area both agree that he
- 8:56Speaker 2: is Taysom Hill. They don't see him. He's got great
- 9:00Speaker 2: but they don't see him. It's a true quarterback. He's
- 9:02Speaker 2: an athlete who you have to if you have him,
- 9:05Speaker 2: you have to know what he is and what he
- 9:06Speaker 2: isn't and you got to be able to move him
- 9:08Speaker 2: around here and figure out is he Taysom Hill? Is there?
- 9:13Speaker 2: He looks like Taysom Hill with the skill set and
- 9:16Speaker 2: he's got great, really good sizing as an athlete, but
- 9:18Speaker 2: you got to know how to use this guy and
- 9:20Speaker 2: that look, there's there's always somebody Sean Payton's who see
- 9:23Speaker 2: what others don't sit? You know what I'm talking about?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, I know that The term is you have
- 9:28Speaker 1: to have a plan.
- 9:29Speaker 2: That's it. Yes, Yes, we've talked about that with Greg Cosel.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I don't know how many times. It's funny we say that.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Seemingly with some teams they don't have to plan for
- 9:37Speaker 2: the quarterback. Then just this Taylor Green is so fascinating.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Mm hm, he's going to go third day almost certainly.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I mean could he go third round and shot you
- 9:48Speaker 2: know that that'd be extremely high because that's a bottom
- 9:50Speaker 2: n start around, right, that would be a shocker. But
- 9:53Speaker 2: only takes one team. He's another guy with the right
- 9:56Speaker 2: coaching staff that's willing to develop him. He's your third
- 10:02Speaker 2: string quarterback for two years and if he's really developing,
- 10:04Speaker 2: to see what you got. But he's just another guy
- 10:07Speaker 2: that I went our visit a couple of years.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how teams value him
- 10:12Speaker 1: compared to say like Drew Aller, who needs also a
- 10:14Speaker 1: lot of work, uncomfortable in the pocket at times, but
- 10:18Speaker 1: has a beautiful arm. You know, played at a really
- 10:21Speaker 1: high level in big games. And there are two different
- 10:24Speaker 1: totally different styles of quarterbacks but with question marks. So
- 10:27Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see which one gets some more
- 10:29Speaker 1: value than the other.
- 10:31Speaker 2: When you've watched Drew alert, don't you see some games
- 10:34Speaker 2: you're like, wow, can't why can't he duplicate that?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Oh my god? If you go watch his game against
- 10:38Speaker 1: usc not last this past year, but the year before
- 10:41Speaker 1: where they were losing and he brought him back and
- 10:43Speaker 1: he was just took over in the late third and
- 10:45Speaker 1: fourth quoter and made every throw with literally no wide receivers.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I think Tyler Warren quote fifteen passes in that game.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Something crazy. And yeah, I mean there's there's stretches, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: he's athletic. You know. When he first got to Penn State,
- 10:59Speaker 1: they called him baby because he was a big guy
- 11:01Speaker 1: like Ben Rotha. Remember early Ben Roethlisberger could move around
- 11:05Speaker 1: before he kind of got bigger and just became a
- 11:07Speaker 1: pocket guy. But yeah, he's he's got a lot of
- 11:10Speaker 1: Really again, I think we talked about team and scheme.
- 11:13Speaker 1: If can you get him with like one of these
- 11:15Speaker 1: like Shanahan McVeigh type coaches or O'Connell's who really know
- 11:19Speaker 1: how to fix a quarterback's flaws. Yeah, it's something there,
- 11:22Speaker 1: but you know there's also a million of those guys
- 11:24Speaker 1: who don't turn out, you know, they don't live up
- 11:26Speaker 1: to that. So uh, you know, he could go to
- 11:28Speaker 1: a team that doesn't have great coaching and and really
- 11:31Speaker 1: become like Hackenberg.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Did you know, Oh God, Christian Hackenberg. Man.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I didn't mean to put the Penn State Hackenberg curse
- 11:37Speaker 1: on him, because that's all.
- 11:38Speaker 2: But he's another guy with a lot of ability, but
- 11:40Speaker 2: the mechanics and accuracy just saluted him, and yeah, it's
- 11:44Speaker 2: too bad. And then when you moved to running back.
- 11:48Speaker 2: So I've had a long talk with some scouts that
- 11:52Speaker 2: I know, but how they view the scout pro scouting
- 11:56Speaker 2: college scouting are completely different. It's just it's what scouts
- 12:01Speaker 2: look for comparably to pro personnel. People like really different.
- 12:05Speaker 2: They don't see it the same way. You know, the
- 12:09Speaker 2: college game is much different, but they all see Jeremiah
- 12:12Speaker 2: Love the same way. Typically it's running back position. Unless
- 12:17Speaker 2: you're a three down back, there's no discussion. You're not
- 12:19Speaker 2: going in the first round. You can. I don't care
- 12:20Speaker 2: how talent you are. But this guy, I know. It's
- 12:26Speaker 2: going to be hard for some fans of whether it's
- 12:28Speaker 2: the Cardinals or the Titans. Oh we need a quarterback, Well, folks,
- 12:33Speaker 2: there's not a good quarterback there unless you're getting David Bailey,
- 12:38Speaker 2: who is the best pass rusher. Jeremiah Love is the
- 12:42Speaker 2: best player. You've got a starting running back if he
- 12:44Speaker 2: doesn't get hurt for probably eight to ten years. Yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 2: well running back probably eight years, seven eight years. It's
- 12:51Speaker 2: the positional value goes out the door when you have
- 12:53Speaker 2: an elite prospect, it just does yep.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Just so yeah, this guy. I spoke to an AOC
- 13:00Speaker 1: who really liked Jeremiah Loves He said it was his
- 13:02Speaker 1: favorite tape of any prospect to watch. And I said,
- 13:05Speaker 1: well why and he said, you know, when you're talking
- 13:08Speaker 1: about running backs, if they're going to go in the
- 13:10Speaker 1: first round, there are going to be great athletes. More
- 13:12Speaker 1: often than not. They're gonna you know, obviously run with
- 13:14Speaker 1: great leverage and things, but the footwork, the quickness, the vision,
- 13:19Speaker 1: it's the little things. He just does every This guy
- 13:22Speaker 1: said he does everything the way our running back is
- 13:25Speaker 1: supposed to. And he didn't say it, but it reminded
- 13:27Speaker 1: me of when we were calling around a couple of
- 13:30Speaker 1: years ago, just talking to people all Bijon Robinson. I mean,
- 13:32Speaker 1: this is a guy who literally checked off every There
- 13:36Speaker 1: was not one thing that you even wish he did
- 13:39Speaker 1: this a little bit more. It feels like Jeremiah is
- 13:41Speaker 1: about as clean of a prospect as you can get.
- 13:44Speaker 2: He's the best player for this draft. And look, if
- 13:47Speaker 2: you I know some Cardinal fans don't want them to
- 13:49Speaker 2: draft him because, oh well they have Trey Benson. They
- 13:52Speaker 2: spent at their round pick on it, and he should
- 13:53Speaker 2: be the starter. Well, he's been hurt, he's been disappointing. Yeah,
- 13:56Speaker 2: Connor's near the end of his career. Tyler Tyler Algier
- 13:58Speaker 2: is a power back, he's not explosive, and knowing that
- 14:04Speaker 2: they need to address the quarterback position with a younger guy. Sure,
- 14:09Speaker 2: Jacoby Brissett wants more money and he's a great backup
- 14:12Speaker 2: spot starter. But the way you help a quarterback, no
- 14:15Speaker 2: matter how it is, is if you have a running
- 14:17Speaker 2: game to support. It doesn't mean you have to be
- 14:19Speaker 2: till the marriage of the run, but if you have
- 14:21Speaker 2: a guy who could touch the ball Tolbert run and
- 14:25Speaker 2: pass twenty plus times and he's elite, you'll help yourself tremendously. Now,
- 14:31Speaker 2: the Cardinals have a bad roster overall. It's not just
- 14:33Speaker 2: the quarterback position. Marvin Harrison has not been who they
- 14:36Speaker 2: thought they were. I'll admit I've been stunned. How I mean,
- 14:40Speaker 2: he was better in the year two, but he's nowhere
- 14:43Speaker 2: near the player that a lot of people thought. A
- 14:45Speaker 2: lot of area scouts are shocked. You couldn't They couldn't
- 14:48Speaker 2: find a knock on the guy, right, but not one
- 14:51Speaker 2: stuff you can't know, like it's I don't know what
- 14:55Speaker 2: it is, the curse of his father. I don't know
- 14:57Speaker 2: what it is. I can't understand why he's not better.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It could be could be the quarterback. I mean, I
- 15:02Speaker 1: don't know. That's a good question. I certainly saw McBride
- 15:06Speaker 1: his play raised when they went to Jacoby Burssett, more
- 15:10Speaker 1: so than Marvin Harrison's. But yeah, that's pretty interesting. I think.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I think that if I'm the Cardinals, for what you
- 15:17Speaker 1: just said, for all their needs, you could take Jeremiah
- 15:20Speaker 1: Love and be happy with it, but you might wind
- 15:22Speaker 1: up Saquon Barkley and him like the Giants did, where
- 15:25Speaker 1: you have no infrastructure around to support this fantastic human
- 15:29Speaker 1: athlete and running back of a human being. So I
- 15:32Speaker 1: probably go the safer route and take David Bailey, but
- 15:35Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. I can understand. But I do
- 15:38Speaker 1: fear that if you went to the Cardinals and they
- 15:40Speaker 1: didn't have a quarterback and couldn't get one for a while,
- 15:42Speaker 1: then he just you know, takes a bunch of hits,
- 15:44Speaker 1: gets a bunch of yards, and he's you know, sort
- 15:46Speaker 1: of like Saquon in New York. It never works out
- 15:48Speaker 1: because they have a quarterback. But we'll say I think
- 15:51Speaker 1: that that's one of the teams you look at in
- 15:53Speaker 1: the second round. You see do they go for a
- 15:55Speaker 1: Tie Simpson or do they go for a nus Meyer
- 15:58Speaker 1: or something like that. Any other running backs that you
- 16:02Speaker 1: want to do.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yes, there's anything else on my docket at running back.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I want to Oh, you know, I know he look,
- 16:09Speaker 2: this is not a good run back draft. But Eli
- 16:14Speaker 2: Heindrich from Heinrich Hype pronounce it. I've seen a lot
- 16:18Speaker 2: of him. I've heard a lot about him. He's got
- 16:19Speaker 2: such great versatility out of Navy. Yeah, he's not a
- 16:23Speaker 2: starting running back, to be clear, at the next level,
- 16:25Speaker 2: there's that it's not happening. But he's another guy that
- 16:29Speaker 2: in the right system, with the right coaching be fascinating.
- 16:32Speaker 2: He's a really interesting player. I like him a lot.
- 16:35Speaker 1: He pays receiver for them too. Yeah, he moves around.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he could do a lot, like he could play
- 16:40Speaker 2: running back, wide receiver slot. You're right, I'll be interesting
- 16:43Speaker 2: to see how he lines up to the next level.
- 16:45Speaker 2: On your point, Yes, Yes, the Titans are fascinating. They
- 16:50Speaker 2: as I understand it. They've they want to develop this
- 16:54Speaker 2: draft to help their quarterback. Like they this is sure.
- 16:58Speaker 2: They have a ton of needs on defense, there's no
- 16:59Speaker 2: quoest question, but they address some of them with Jermaine Johnson,
- 17:02Speaker 2: John Franklin, Myers, Alante Taylor, Cordell Flatt. They've set this
- 17:07Speaker 2: up and internally I know they've discussed in helping cam
- 17:11Speaker 2: Ward out tight end would be one as the draft
- 17:15Speaker 2: and this is a deep draft. Calvin Ridley they redid
- 17:20Speaker 2: his deal. He's definitely going to be a starter this season.
- 17:23Speaker 2: After this, I could certainly see them moving on from him.
- 17:26Speaker 2: They need more talent receiver. They could help the interior
- 17:30Speaker 2: their offensive line. They still need to do that. Cam
- 17:33Speaker 2: Ward is universally was university really liked by personnel people
- 17:38Speaker 2: I know, and from one Titan source, he tried a
- 17:41Speaker 2: little bit too hard to put the team on his back.
- 17:43Speaker 2: There's some games he just force throws. But this kid's
- 17:47Speaker 2: a baller. There's a chance here he could be super
- 17:50Speaker 2: special over Tom talking overtime and if Mike Borgonzi and
- 17:53Speaker 2: his group, if they support him as I've heard that
- 17:56Speaker 2: they want to do, and that this has a chance
- 17:58Speaker 2: to be really good over series of years.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, with Dable there right and getting him
- 18:06Speaker 1: some offensive weapons and fixing cam Ward and again, if
- 18:08Speaker 1: they give him love or they give him carnal Tate,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's what I would do too. I
- 18:13Speaker 1: think it makes a lot of sense.
- 18:14Speaker 2: By the way, on I'm glad you mentioned Brian Dable.
- 18:18Speaker 2: You could say what you want about Brian Tables a
- 18:20Speaker 2: head coach. He wasn't very good, that's not up to debate,
- 18:24Speaker 2: but he was phenomenal with Josh Allen challenged him, was
- 18:28Speaker 2: on him, and Josh Allen came in as a wild stallion,
- 18:34Speaker 2: accuracy terrible, and he coached the hell out of him.
- 18:37Speaker 2: And he did a good job with Jackson Dart for
- 18:41Speaker 2: the time that he spent with him. I just wanted
- 18:43Speaker 2: to bring this up because this is the next guy.
- 18:46Speaker 2: If Berganzi does what I've heard he's going to do
- 18:49Speaker 2: is try to help him as much as he can.
- 18:51Speaker 2: This thing over series of years, if there's patience, there's
- 18:54Speaker 2: a chance to be really interesting.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Right all right? What next? Man? And the Jets at
- 19:00Speaker 1: number two? Like I said, Rville Reese, seems I know
- 19:03Speaker 1: personnel people around the league think that that is a
- 19:05Speaker 1: foregone conclusion that they're going to take Arville.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It's either him or Biley has to be. But they
- 19:10Speaker 2: have no pass rusher seat you have if you're drafting Reese,
- 19:15Speaker 2: if you're the Jets, he's got to be a pass
- 19:19Speaker 2: rusher like, he's got to be more of a guy,
- 19:22Speaker 2: and he'll have to be a stand up linebacker. You know,
- 19:26Speaker 2: they've Will McDonald. It was drafted by Joe Douglas, who's explosive,
- 19:31Speaker 2: Joe size, a nice rotate, he's a he's a he's
- 19:34Speaker 2: a third edge. They're brought in in a bari over
- 19:37Speaker 2: from Green Bay. But uh, they've got you tomorrow, by
- 19:41Speaker 2: the way, Okay, you bring this up tomorrow, Davis. They
- 19:44Speaker 2: I know he's what is he thirty seven or thirty eight?
- 19:46Speaker 1: Who is?
- 19:46Speaker 2: It's a phenomenal football player, orderline Hall of Famer. He
- 19:50Speaker 2: turns thirty eight in January. What he's doing is just ridiculous.
- 19:54Speaker 2: It's like never happens, m h. But linebacker wise, they've
- 19:58Speaker 2: sherw it's been a nice story. Jamie Sherwood. Yeah, they
- 20:02Speaker 2: got I would lean more towards Bailey, but we'll see
- 20:04Speaker 2: what happens.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Well, I think that they'll they'll have the two for
- 20:07Speaker 1: one deal in mind, where if they really believe in
- 20:10Speaker 1: him as an off ball linebacker and an edge rusher,
- 20:12Speaker 1: you for first and second down you have him off
- 20:15Speaker 1: the ball with the Mario and then you move them
- 20:17Speaker 1: to the edge, or you put make him as a joke,
- 20:20Speaker 1: or you do something on third down where he is
- 20:23Speaker 1: rushing the passer and then so you gotta get you
- 20:25Speaker 1: a two for one deal there if it works out.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go to the jet. The shous be the
- 20:30Speaker 2: Giants real quick.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 2: See here we talked about this with Andrew Harbes. He
- 20:38Speaker 2: gets the knock. Oh with Arctocosta. They're all about the
- 20:41Speaker 2: run and defense. And look there's truth to it because
- 20:44Speaker 2: that's what happened.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 20:46Speaker 2: But if you look at the offensive talent they've got.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Now we'll see about Neighbors as his acl Slayton could run,
- 20:52Speaker 2: Mooney could run. Neighbors is a big time talent. Isaiah
- 20:56Speaker 2: likely is explosive tight end. You gut theojis and I
- 21:00Speaker 2: know he hasn't done much, but he could catch and
- 21:02Speaker 2: Manhurts is an excellent why tight end? Does Harbes start
- 21:06Speaker 2: looking outside the box? Say, now, of course, if they
- 21:10Speaker 2: get Jeremy Love, it's a different story. Why can't this
- 21:13Speaker 2: be a passing team?
- 21:15Speaker 1: Oh, it absolutely could. I mean, especially if at five
- 21:18Speaker 1: you wanted to go, you know, like Jordan Tyson or
- 21:20Speaker 1: Cardinal Tait and make that your one two punch with Neighbors.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I don't see that they're loaded receiver. But I'm just
- 21:26Speaker 2: saying with the talent they I'm just saying specifically what
- 21:29Speaker 2: they have already.
- 21:31Speaker 1: You deal. Yeah, yeah, I don't know if I would
- 21:34Speaker 1: call them loaded. I mean the number two receivers Darius
- 21:37Speaker 1: Slayton right now.
- 21:39Speaker 2: But if you look at the total group just for
- 21:40Speaker 2: this season, Neighbors, Slayton, Mooney, Calvin Austin. I forgot to
- 21:43Speaker 2: mention him.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Oh you know, I forgot about now.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I understand the draft is about the future. Now, on
- 21:50Speaker 2: your point on Slayton, he's making a ton of money.
- 21:54Speaker 2: If he doesn't play well, I don't see him coming
- 21:56Speaker 2: back in twenty seven. So on your point, it's a
- 22:00Speaker 2: little bit early. I had one receivers coach to tell me,
- 22:02Speaker 2: and he did give him a late, late first round grade.
- 22:04Speaker 2: He said he's he's the most overrated player at that position.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Likes and doesn't love him. He loves he loves the airs,
- 22:13Speaker 2: he loves the Arizona State receiver. I mean he just
- 22:16Speaker 2: thinks that Tyson, who has private workout last week. Physically
- 22:21Speaker 2: he holds up. He said it will not be close.
- 22:24Speaker 2: He'll be the best receiver out of his class for
- 22:25Speaker 2: a number of years. It's just multi liqument injury, hamstring, yep. Body,
- 22:31Speaker 2: he's been beat up physically, but he does everything well.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I think he had a broken collarbone too, which is yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 1: everybody can color bone, but yeah, yeah, I know.
- 22:40Speaker 2: He's like his whole body, you know.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, So with the Giants having the fifth and tenth
- 22:47Speaker 1: tenth pick, if they just go defense defense there, if
- 22:50Speaker 1: they get somehow Caleb Downs and Sunny Styles or Caleb
- 22:54Speaker 1: Downs and Mansieur Deliny, pretty good, pretty good way for
- 22:58Speaker 1: them to really start to get back to being the team. Yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I see Tremaine Admins. You know, Greg talked about it,
- 23:06Speaker 2: Coase Hill talked about his tape was bad last season.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was a that was a questionable signing.
- 23:13Speaker 2: And they're not by structure. I don't know if they
- 23:16Speaker 2: could even get out of it after one year without
- 23:17Speaker 2: any pain. So they're a fun team. But the thing
- 23:22Speaker 2: is man with trading. Detcha Lawrence their front because they're
- 23:25Speaker 2: running a thirty four under Jernard Wilson. Good luck they
- 23:29Speaker 2: have Darius Alexanders turns twenty six. He's the old a
- 23:32Speaker 2: second year player. I'm sure the NFL at twenty six August.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Good luck.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, uh, what what do you think? We
- 23:41Speaker 1: got the Browns at six, the Commanders at seven. That's
- 23:44Speaker 1: an interesting six to seven turn right there.
- 23:46Speaker 2: All right, real quick on Washington. They're another team. Got
- 23:51Speaker 2: to help the QB they have yep, they need to
- 23:53Speaker 2: get and they need to help McLaurin out. Mclaurin's interesting.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You know, he did not he didn't like to be moved.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I'm told when he first got there in early in Excuar,
- 24:03Speaker 2: like twenty nineteen one, and then he was more open
- 24:06Speaker 2: to moving around, being set up playing the acts he
- 24:08Speaker 2: plays Z You line them up inside if you need to.
- 24:12Speaker 2: But you know they overspent for Chicka Konqua, who the
- 24:15Speaker 2: former Titan staff is not very high on, to say
- 24:17Speaker 2: the least. There's no way in hell they pass up
- 24:21Speaker 2: on Jeremy Love they get him, no way. There's just
- 24:24Speaker 2: I don't think I don't see I think he makes
- 24:26Speaker 2: it there. And then defensively, you know, they address what
- 24:29Speaker 2: they needed to in free agency. They so called draft proofing.
- 24:32Speaker 2: My god, I mean with Tim Settle, o Way Chanelle,
- 24:37Speaker 2: who's a really interesting player, chasing Nick Cross is very unerrated,
- 24:41Speaker 2: Mick Robertson Ometa who they it helps them see. Draft
- 24:46Speaker 2: proofing it helps you not having to being forced to
- 24:48Speaker 2: do something. So that's that's another team they learned the
- 24:52Speaker 2: hard way. You don't want to be the oldest team
- 24:53Speaker 2: in the National Football League and they know that.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're the Commanders and you think that Love
- 25:01Speaker 1: is either going to go three or four to the
- 25:03Speaker 1: Titans or the uh the Cardinals, do you start to
- 25:08Speaker 1: talk to the Jets about moving up five spots just
- 25:10Speaker 1: to make sure you get Love. It'll be interesting, it'll
- 25:13Speaker 1: be interesting. You probably wouldn't have to pay as much
- 25:16Speaker 1: as you normally would if you're moving up for a quarterback,
- 25:18Speaker 1: and the Jets would be able to still get a
- 25:20Speaker 1: really good player there along with their second first round pick.
- 25:23Speaker 1: They got a bunch of picks coming to them because
- 25:25Speaker 1: all the trades they made.
- 25:26Speaker 2: That's that's before we move on to the Chiefs. I
- 25:28Speaker 2: want to talk about them in a second. Yeah, you
- 25:30Speaker 2: know how bred features talking about he thinks there'll be
- 25:33Speaker 2: a bunch of trades. Well and they who then was
- 25:36Speaker 2: they could be involved if because the boy the cutoff
- 25:38Speaker 2: of true first round grades is getting close to them
- 25:40Speaker 2: and it probably pass them a little bit, but that's it.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I wonder if because Kansas City has so many needs,
- 25:50Speaker 2: they have like eight on my board, eight, you wonder
- 25:55Speaker 2: if each was hinting that, hey, come and get it. Hey,
- 25:57Speaker 2: if they like or they want, do they trade out?
- 25:59Speaker 1: You know? Yeah, yeah, well we know, you know, just
- 26:03Speaker 1: talking to people around the league, I know there's an
- 26:05Speaker 1: expectation that the Chiefs really want to address their lines.
- 26:07Speaker 1: They want to get you know, they've had their aging.
- 26:09Speaker 1: We talked about this with Chris Jones at de tackle.
- 26:12Speaker 1: There really isn't ad tackle there that you would take
- 26:15Speaker 1: at that point, so that would prompt an understandable move down.
- 26:19Speaker 1: They could use an edge rusher. They could still use
- 26:20Speaker 1: help on the offensive line. You know, they're playing the
- 26:24Speaker 1: kid at right tackle that they signed last year from
- 26:27Speaker 1: the forty nine ers, but he can move around a
- 26:29Speaker 1: little bit. You know, they got to make sure that
- 26:31Speaker 1: they can count on their left tackle Simmons, who was
- 26:34Speaker 1: absent for a lot of last year. So they they
- 26:36Speaker 1: got to if they want to keep Mahomes, you know,
- 26:38Speaker 1: healthy coming off this ACL and then get back to
- 26:41Speaker 1: being who the Chiefs were, They've got they've got to
- 26:43Speaker 1: be an Andy Reid team. They got to build up
- 26:45Speaker 1: through the lines.
- 26:46Speaker 2: The talent level on this team has decreased significantly there.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Folks know they're a low cash bend team. They're just
- 26:53Speaker 2: one of the teams that historically they're not a high
- 26:57Speaker 2: paying coach group. They don't pay their coaches in like
- 27:01Speaker 2: the top five or to don't know, off top ten,
- 27:04Speaker 2: known of the agent coaching agent community for for years,
- 27:07Speaker 2: and they a lot of a lot of a lot
- 27:09Speaker 2: of players walk. Man, they've got a bargain basement secondary
- 27:14Speaker 2: and you talk about the defensive line other than Chris Jones,
- 27:16Speaker 2: they need help. Yeah, right now, it's Denver, it's the Chargers,
- 27:22Speaker 2: and it's the Chiefs in that division. Let's be honest
- 27:24Speaker 2: about it, folks. I can't believe I'm saying it. They're
- 27:25Speaker 2: just an also run right now.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm at the play. We're at nine. If they
- 27:30Speaker 1: if they can't move up or down or we're really
- 27:33Speaker 1: moved down right. I mean, I think Malinoa comes into
- 27:40Speaker 1: play for the Chiefs there because he's left guard, right tackle,
- 27:43Speaker 1: he moving to guard. Maybe I did have someone tell
- 27:46Speaker 1: me they think that they that Malnoa, if they did it,
- 27:49Speaker 1: could be an all pro guard. They said he would
- 27:51Speaker 1: have to like get some knee bend a little bit,
- 27:53Speaker 1: you know, adjust to it, because he's not He's been
- 27:55Speaker 1: a tackle his whole life. He's a huge, wide bodied guy.
- 27:59Speaker 1: But they do think he'd be ANX. This person I spoke,
- 28:01Speaker 1: he thought he'd be an excellent card. Okay, I they needed,
- 28:06Speaker 1: they have a lot of needs. And then I just
- 28:08Speaker 1: want to touch on the Cowboys for a second. Jerry
- 28:12Speaker 1: Jones keeps hitting at a potential big move, you know,
- 28:15Speaker 1: because they he I'll say this much for taking. If
- 28:19Speaker 1: you remember in the mid mid two thousands, he was
- 28:21Speaker 1: mister free agency, Roy Williams, the receiver, they just were.
- 28:25Speaker 1: He was mister free agency. Then he'd been dormant for
- 28:27Speaker 1: a long time, and then they had a very active
- 28:31Speaker 1: free agency period and draft period and just trading. You know,
- 28:36Speaker 1: they made a lot of big moves. And he's talking
- 28:38Speaker 1: about busting the budget. Would it surprise anyone.
- 28:42Speaker 2: They have two first round picks, If they move up
- 28:44Speaker 2: to get a big splash player, I would say.
- 28:47Speaker 1: No, not at all. They got the twelve and the twenty.
- 28:52Speaker 1: They really need a lot of help on defense, So
- 28:54Speaker 1: if they move up, I would think it would be
- 28:57Speaker 1: for a really good corner or a really good safety,
- 29:00Speaker 1: linebacker perhaps, but yeah, they've got a man. They need
- 29:04Speaker 1: help on defense big time. Like you said, let me
- 29:08Speaker 1: ask you this.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Do you see from what you've heard about Sonny Styles?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Okay there, do you feel like there's a chance no
- 29:17Speaker 2: one could trade up to get him.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I do feel like there's a chance. But the thing
- 29:22Speaker 1: about Sonny and I talked to someone who watched a
- 29:25Speaker 1: lot of his tape and he really likes him. But
- 29:27Speaker 1: you have to remember in this Ohio State defense a
- 29:30Speaker 1: he's playing next to rvil Reese in front of Caleb
- 29:34Speaker 1: Down's good offensive line. He was allowed to play, what
- 29:37Speaker 1: they say, freely, which means I'm not saying he didn't
- 29:40Speaker 1: have responsibilities, but he was sort of allowed to be
- 29:43Speaker 1: a run and chase guy. And that's where your your
- 29:45Speaker 1: uber athleticism really can benefit you. Where you just go
- 29:49Speaker 1: you're like a heat seeking missile. This is how he
- 29:51Speaker 1: told you, you just go chase the guy down. But
- 29:54Speaker 1: if he comes to a team or a defensive coordinator
- 29:58Speaker 1: that wants his linebacker to be downhill and take on
- 30:02Speaker 1: blocks like you remember how awkward it was for the
- 30:04Speaker 1: Eagles when Washburn first started coaching the d lot Jim Washburn,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and they were playing the wide nine, but they had
- 30:09Speaker 1: small safeties like Kirk Coleman. They had small linebackers and
- 30:13Speaker 1: they were just hemorrhaging, you know, rushing yards. So he's
- 30:16Speaker 1: got to go to a team where they've probably got
- 30:20Speaker 1: a thumper or somebody who's a better doubt, you know, downfield,
- 30:24Speaker 1: downhill style player where he can be the free roamer.
- 30:28Speaker 1: So I think any team that trades up for him
- 30:30Speaker 1: has to already have someone they think can handle that
- 30:33Speaker 1: duty and not put it on sunny styles.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's so new to linebacker or kind of what
- 30:39Speaker 2: you were talking about. He, as one personnel guy said
- 30:44Speaker 2: he could be the best player out of this draft
- 30:45Speaker 2: in three or four years. But he's so new to it.
- 30:48Speaker 2: He's got his workout numbers are ridiculous. He's got the intelligence,
- 30:53Speaker 2: the size, he's got everything wanting, just doesn't have the
- 30:56Speaker 2: experience so there's got to be patients here jumping around
- 30:59Speaker 2: a little bit. The Vikings are another.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Real quickly on that Cowboys point, Like overshown, it's sort
- 31:05Speaker 1: of similar in that he's a free range I mean,
- 31:07Speaker 1: so he's always hurt. So, I mean, Christian Parker is
- 31:11Speaker 1: a smart guy. Is he really gonna want to have
- 31:12Speaker 1: two linebackers who aren't in this defense? After having guys
- 31:17Speaker 1: like Bond and having Dean who are really good at
- 31:19Speaker 1: getting around offensive lineman going downhill making tackles, right, is
- 31:23Speaker 1: he gonna have two guys who are who play more
- 31:26Speaker 1: free range type and not downhill type. That that's where
- 31:29Speaker 1: I wonder about the fit for that that specific process
- 31:32Speaker 1: A right.
- 31:32Speaker 2: So on your point, I forgot to mention it. So
- 31:34Speaker 2: Christian Parker, right, first time play call, they're gonna run
- 31:36Speaker 2: a thirty four or two overhands, He's gonna run Fangio.
- 31:39Speaker 1: M hm.
- 31:40Speaker 2: You gotta have a field general. Okay, you need someone
- 31:44Speaker 2: like they felt like you have, folks. I mean it,
- 31:47Speaker 2: Logan Wilson trade was a disaster. He just retired. I
- 31:50Speaker 2: believe everything they seem to have tried over the last
- 31:54Speaker 2: couple of acient linebacker has just been it hadn't worked.
- 31:57Speaker 2: You know it hasn't worked. That Ken' murray trade. I
- 31:59Speaker 2: know that if up next decks and nothing's terrible, you
- 32:02Speaker 2: know it didn't work. They need You can't run Fangio.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You need big time smart players. They need they need
- 32:11Speaker 2: that guy the field general. And now is styles that guy.
- 32:16Speaker 2: He's so new to the position.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Rodriguez to me, I almost feel like kileb downs because
- 32:23Speaker 1: they need safety too. Yes, that guy, and if you're
- 32:26Speaker 1: gonna make a that would be the guy. Yep.
- 32:29Speaker 2: But but linebacker Jacob Rodricus You if you hear our
- 32:33Speaker 2: show with Greg co self, folks, I know not everyone's
- 32:35Speaker 2: an Eagles fan here. We've got a lot of fans
- 32:37Speaker 2: listening to from different follow different teams. Find the line.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Why don't we put the linebacker sho last week?
- 32:45Speaker 1: Yes, yes, last week?
- 32:47Speaker 2: Find what Greg said about Jacob Rodriguez. I mean, this
- 32:51Speaker 2: guy is a first year starter. He's out a Texas
- 32:54Speaker 2: Tech by the way, not too far from the Cowboys complex.
- 33:00Speaker 2: This guy is a big time Mike linebacker or inside
- 33:04Speaker 2: backer are thirty four in this case? So on your point,
- 33:08Speaker 2: this one, this is what they got to get. And
- 33:12Speaker 2: we've talked about this at nauseum. The failure of the
- 33:15Speaker 2: leadership on defense for years. You can blame coaching all
- 33:17Speaker 2: you want. They've had a metal break, not just injuries,
- 33:22Speaker 2: guys freelancing, not doing what they should do. Like Jerry
- 33:25Speaker 2: Jones could address the run all he wants with Kenny
- 33:27Speaker 2: Clark and Quinny Williams. That's just a drop in the bucket.
- 33:30Speaker 2: It's the lack of discipline overall on this defense.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so it'll be interesting. You're right, Jerry's
- 33:36Speaker 1: been teasing this big move. They've got two first round picks.
- 33:39Speaker 1: We'll see what they wind up doing. They're the team
- 33:41Speaker 1: that I think could shock us all and do something
- 33:43Speaker 1: like completely.
- 33:44Speaker 2: That's why I want to bring them up. And plus
- 33:46Speaker 2: America's team. They shouldn't be anymore goodness, say, America's shame
- 33:50Speaker 2: how bad they've been defense. Minnesota is a team briefly
- 33:54Speaker 2: want to touch on if they make the Grenad trade,
- 33:57Speaker 2: if they can agree on it, Dallas turn will be
- 33:59Speaker 2: a full time time starter op savan Ginkel. Then Kinkle's
- 34:02Speaker 2: had a ton of injuries. Okay, that's concerning. They've got
- 34:08Speaker 2: a now one. It's too early for dtackle, but they've
- 34:11Speaker 2: got ad tackle problem. Three guys are gone, really two starters,
- 34:15Speaker 2: two veterans. Offensively, you're not getting a quarterback. For folks
- 34:22Speaker 2: who don't want McCarthy, they look, they've got Kyler Murray
- 34:25Speaker 2: compete against them. They're not drafting quarterback in the first round.
- 34:27Speaker 2: It's not happening. What they need to do is to
- 34:31Speaker 2: continue to fortify the interior their offensive line. It's more
- 34:35Speaker 2: it's you're not taking a center there. It's way too early.
- 34:39Speaker 2: They could address that later. But the big need to
- 34:42Speaker 2: me and I know some Viking fans don't like this,
- 34:44Speaker 2: they don't agree with me. Isaiah Rodgers just a fine player.
- 34:48Speaker 2: You still need to get that big time corner. If
- 34:50Speaker 2: they get a big time corner to pair with Rogers
- 34:53Speaker 2: and Murphy, this is a with Josh mctellis, who's the
- 34:57Speaker 2: Swiss Army knife. That's a makings of an ex s secondary.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Yep. That's where the medicals on McCoy really are our
- 35:04Speaker 1: factor in. If they think he can, you know, make
- 35:08Speaker 1: it at some point in the season week three, week
- 35:10Speaker 1: four and be all right, then you're probably more comfortable
- 35:13Speaker 1: with that because that that's getting a top ten to
- 35:16Speaker 1: twelve talent later in the draft. Because talent, there's no question.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Is twenty twenty four tape everybody spoke to you said
- 35:23Speaker 1: makes him a really good corner, a top corner in
- 35:25Speaker 1: this draft.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And with with him there was the NFL Network report.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Looks it's interesting he the workout look he ran in
- 35:34Speaker 2: forty he was good. But there's something within the bone
- 35:37Speaker 2: to a problem and there's a concerned long term that
- 35:39Speaker 2: could that could hurt him, that could certainly have him drop.
- 35:43Speaker 2: But just a word on the receiver position conception and
- 35:49Speaker 2: this is really interesting. I had two coaches tell me
- 35:51Speaker 2: because he said he's a he plays bigger than his
- 35:54Speaker 2: listed size. He's a little bit of a freelancer with
- 35:58Speaker 2: his with his route running. But one guy said, I
- 36:00Speaker 2: see this guy the way that he plays, not just
- 36:03Speaker 2: a slot. He said, he goes I could see one guy.
- 36:06Speaker 2: One guy mentioned it X receiver and the other guy said,
- 36:08Speaker 2: he absolutely plainly outside. He's got the ability to do it.
- 36:12Speaker 2: So that's something to see what goes on the next level.
- 36:15Speaker 2: M H. Denzel Boston. I'd be stunned if he went
- 36:18Speaker 2: in the first round. I know some matres have him
- 36:20Speaker 2: going in the first round. I know it only takes
- 36:21Speaker 2: one team. He's not going to win on his own.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Like you if you're a wide receiver in the first round,
- 36:29Speaker 2: you gotta win like you gotta win. He's got He's
- 36:32Speaker 2: very strong physically, but the question is Kenny get Kenny
- 36:35Speaker 2: win on his own? That's a concern. Chris Brazel and
- 36:42Speaker 2: Ted hurst or seemed the same way. Super raw. Hurst
- 36:45Speaker 2: is a little bit more advanced, major patience. Malachi Fields
- 36:51Speaker 2: is a guy out of Notre Dame. As we go
- 36:53Speaker 2: through this receiver position, you want this guy in a
- 36:57Speaker 2: dark alley. He's gonna win. He's that tough and physical.
- 37:00Speaker 2: He runs better than you think. He's a guy no
- 37:03Speaker 2: one's really talking about. He's a third day sleeper. And
- 37:06Speaker 2: the guy who could be the sleeper of this group
- 37:10Speaker 2: is Antonio Williams at a Clemson heard that from multiple
- 37:13Speaker 2: receivers coaches. Tape is really good, super competitive, super smart. Yeah,
- 37:20Speaker 2: you can move him around. He's not just a slot
- 37:22Speaker 2: and wants to be coached. This is the guy that
- 37:25Speaker 2: no one we really no one's talking about, but coach
- 37:28Speaker 2: brought him up and they see him the same way.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Yeah. No, that's a really good point. He is not
- 37:32Speaker 1: getting a lot of airtime but he could player. Yeah. Hey,
- 37:36Speaker 1: Philly fans. Game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines,
- 37:41Speaker 1: We've all been there, But when it comes to your cannabis,
- 37:44Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is the dispensary for

- 38:25Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. Cammed inn Apothecary top quality cannabis,
- 38:31Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 38:34Speaker 1: one and up. Before we get out of here, let's
- 38:37Speaker 1: touch on tight Ends. This is a very interesting group.
- 38:40Speaker 1: We know Sadik is a first round er. He's gonna
- 38:42Speaker 1: go somewhere in the first round. After that, there's talent,
- 38:46Speaker 1: but it's sort of like a what are you doing with?
- 38:49Speaker 1: This is not a one size fits all tight end group.
- 38:51Speaker 1: There is if if you want a blocker, there's gonna
- 38:54Speaker 1: be guys who can block but are limited pass catchers.
- 38:57Speaker 1: If you want a pass catcher, there's guys who can
- 38:59Speaker 1: catch passes. This is they're limited blocker, so you have
- 39:02Speaker 1: to This is going to be a faith in your
- 39:05Speaker 1: coaching and development type draft for tight ends. If you
- 39:08Speaker 1: think you can get a guy who can put some
- 39:11Speaker 1: weight on and block like Stours is a good example.
- 39:13Speaker 1: If Eli Stowers out of Vanderbilt is a pass catching
- 39:16Speaker 1: tight end, there are concerns about his ability to block.
- 39:19Speaker 1: He's not going to go in the first round, most
- 39:20Speaker 1: likely for that reason. Most likely a second rounder. I
- 39:24Speaker 1: asked about. So Max Claire right from the Ohio State
- 39:27Speaker 1: kid who went to Purdue earlier, is a guy who
- 39:31Speaker 1: can do both. But Adam, what I got was he's
- 39:35Speaker 1: not so great at either that you take him ahead
- 39:39Speaker 1: of Stours or really early in the second He might
- 39:41Speaker 1: be a guy who winds up going in the third
- 39:43Speaker 1: round just because he's a guy who can do both,
- 39:45Speaker 1: but is not going to be a master at either one.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Trigg from what was it, Trig from A and M,
- 39:52Speaker 1: he's the interesting one. He's the wild card because he
- 39:56Speaker 1: from what I understand just talking to people, he's not
- 39:58Speaker 1: like the greatest route runner, but he's got great hands.
- 40:02Speaker 1: He catches everything. But you're going to really have to
- 40:05Speaker 1: teach him how to actually like line up and run
- 40:08Speaker 1: good routes and be disciplined within an offense. And then again,
- 40:11Speaker 1: if you want him on the field, you got to
- 40:13Speaker 1: get him to understand how to block just a little
- 40:16Speaker 1: bit more. Same thing with Stowers. I think you can
- 40:18Speaker 1: get away with Stowars lack of blocking if you have
- 40:21Speaker 1: another wide tight end and you want to flex him out.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I don't get to that with Trig.
- 40:25Speaker 2: On this on Stours. So this is what a coach
- 40:28Speaker 2: told me. He was actually given. He doesn't coach tight ends,
- 40:31Speaker 2: but he was given. This is kind of an inside
- 40:33Speaker 2: football thing. A lot of coaches who the general managers respect,
- 40:38Speaker 2: they'll ask him, hey, you really seem to know this position.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I know it's not yours, but you've talked a lot
- 40:42Speaker 2: about what you might would like you to grade this position.
- 40:46Speaker 2: So this guy said stowars, he's an f tight end.
- 40:49Speaker 2: To start, you have to build his body up there.
- 40:52Speaker 2: I know this is kind of what you're talking about.
- 40:53Speaker 2: He's an sort of offset tight end. He's a pretty
- 40:57Speaker 2: good kid, you know. Or Andrew de Checo interviewed him form.
- 41:00Speaker 2: It's a really good interview. Yeah, over time, he's around
- 41:05Speaker 2: two forty six, just under sixty, and he he's got
- 41:10Speaker 2: a frame from the way, I understand that he could
- 41:12Speaker 2: put on weight. I don't know about two fifty five,
- 41:13Speaker 2: but maybe two forty eight to fifty. And if he's
- 41:17Speaker 2: going to be a second round pick, almost certainly I
- 41:19Speaker 2: don't see him getting out secondround because he's an elite athlete.
- 41:23Speaker 2: But this guy said, the plan would be to move
- 41:26Speaker 2: him off the ball because you can't ask him to
- 41:28Speaker 2: play in line, just like with zach Ertz. By the way,
- 41:30Speaker 2: right now, this guy's a better athlete than arts ever was.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Or it's was just a supreme ball catcher, great route runner,
- 41:36Speaker 2: Melloy tough like he came in and was a stud
- 41:38Speaker 2: right away. But on your point, you may made a
- 41:41Speaker 2: great point here, it's a supremely deep ten end class.
- 41:45Speaker 2: But after it's it's what Howry Roseman said the Eagles
- 41:48Speaker 2: general manager, right, m hm. He didn't talk about Sadik
- 41:51Speaker 2: or the players. He said, you know, they they have tiers.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Every team grates by tears. It's Sadik in Tier one
- 41:59Speaker 2: and then everybody else Stours Claire Ralsh, Michael Trigger, you
- 42:03Speaker 2: talking about from Baylor, Well, Trigger probably in tier three,
- 42:07Speaker 2: Tier two, Stours Claire maybe Ralsh Cat. I know teams
- 42:11Speaker 2: are dead. I don't see the tight end, any player,
- 42:13Speaker 2: any group the same way. But there's a may I'm
- 42:16Speaker 2: glad you brought this up. There's a major drop off.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I've seen some of these what does the Greg Cosell
- 42:24Speaker 2: call him draft gurus?
- 42:25Speaker 1: Yeah, they know it alls right.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Well, the know it all is right right right? Who
- 42:31Speaker 2: they don't think Sidik's a good up blocker? Totally false.
- 42:35Speaker 2: No coach I spoke too, said that they never came up.
- 42:38Speaker 2: He's the best all around tight end they've seen in years.
- 42:42Speaker 2: He's a Day one starter. You know, we've talked about
- 42:46Speaker 2: the Eagles or other teams where you know, if you want,
- 42:49Speaker 2: you got to go. This draft is so bad on
- 42:50Speaker 2: the first right, you got to go get him. Yeah,
- 42:53Speaker 2: I just would like because but as we did the
- 42:55Speaker 2: draft the mock with Andrew. If you look at the
- 42:58Speaker 2: teams and the teams, Rams don't need a tight end.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Ravens don't need a tight end. I like Katott and
- 43:04Speaker 2: maybe more than others. They brought him back. M h
- 43:07Speaker 2: I don't see it. Jets have Mason Taylor, that's not happening.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Lions have the kids coming off the back surgery, but
- 43:12Speaker 2: he's their starter. Hockinson, I don't see it. The hot
- 43:17Speaker 2: spot for me would be Carolina.
- 43:20Speaker 1: But before that, I mean maybe if Kansas City can't
- 43:25Speaker 1: trade down, if Kansas City is stuck in a spot
- 43:28Speaker 1: where they're not gonna take Maw, you know, maybe he's
- 43:31Speaker 1: not there. There's no Detackle, not an edge rusher that
- 43:35Speaker 1: they love, Like, that's the spot where I could see
- 43:37Speaker 1: maybe it happening. I mean, I don't think they need
- 43:40Speaker 1: as another offensive guys as as opposed to fortifying the lines.
- 43:45Speaker 1: But again, if you can't move down, sometimes you get
- 43:47Speaker 1: stuck and you got to just go with your best prospect.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Well, see, here's the thing they're not getting David Bailey
- 43:51Speaker 2: where they are at nine right, they need an edge
- 43:53Speaker 2: rusher in the worst way. There's no Dtackle. You would
- 43:56Speaker 2: take until the second round most likely for you them correct.
- 43:58Speaker 2: So what you can do on your point is you
- 44:01Speaker 2: could actually look to trade down because again, if Dallas
- 44:07Speaker 2: is looking to move up, they have Jake Fergus. They're
- 44:09Speaker 2: not taking a tight end. Okay, you might worry about
- 44:12Speaker 2: Miami at eleven because they have like no talents, they
- 44:17Speaker 2: have a terrible roster, they need everything at offense, they
- 44:19Speaker 2: trade a Waddle their best receiver, you'd have to worry
- 44:22Speaker 2: about them. But if you feel like you could trade
- 44:25Speaker 2: down to like the middle of the first round where
- 44:30Speaker 2: nobody needs a tight end, yeah, you just got to
- 44:32Speaker 2: find out. And I know GMS get intel to me.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Mimi needs so much help. And you remember they have
- 44:39Speaker 2: a major cap problem. Not that that's the draft picks
- 44:43Speaker 2: aren't related to, but overall, they need talent. They're locked
- 44:46Speaker 2: on the cap. They probably they won't probably get as
- 44:48Speaker 2: many picks as possible, Maybe they won't go for a
- 44:50Speaker 2: tight end. I do think on your point, I don't
- 44:54Speaker 2: think it's realistic at nine for the tight end there.
- 44:59Speaker 2: It's sadik. But man, what Travis Kelsey shopping last season?
- 45:04Speaker 2: I thought he was done and I know they resigned him.
- 45:07Speaker 2: You know, but they can get out of way after
- 45:09Speaker 2: one year.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Yep, May.
- 45:12Speaker 2: The tight end and Andy Reids offense, and we'll see
- 45:15Speaker 2: how mu much longer. Coaches, if you can get at
- 45:18Speaker 2: this kid, Sadik is special, you don't want to pass
- 45:20Speaker 2: up special players and a draft that's not very good.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you what I think. If you're at
- 45:24Speaker 1: nine and you're Chiefs and you're not, and we just
- 45:28Speaker 1: talked about the Cowboys wanting to make a big move,
- 45:30Speaker 1: maybe the Cowboys might want to get to nine ahead
- 45:32Speaker 1: of the Giants because they both want defensive players. Could
- 45:35Speaker 1: be downs, could be styles, whatever. Then maybe you see
- 45:39Speaker 1: the Chiefs move down to the twelve spot where the
- 45:41Speaker 1: Cowboys are pick up something and then take Sadik there,
- 45:44Speaker 1: or continue and move down. Who knows, you know, But
- 45:46Speaker 1: that's sort of to me a sweet spot for a
- 45:48Speaker 1: trade because the Giants are gonna be picking right there
- 45:51Speaker 1: at ten and they're still gonna have a chance to
- 45:54Speaker 1: get a really good defensive prospect, and teams are gonna
- 45:56Speaker 1: want one, may want to get right ahead of them,
- 45:57Speaker 1: and the Chiefs are pretty open about what you said.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I think the Chiefs would be fine with moving down
- 46:01Speaker 1: from nine.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Plus sitting in a corner. Remember they have nothing in
- 46:05Speaker 2: corner right now. A starter, quality starter Delaney to me
- 46:10Speaker 2: is would be a great pick. And that's around with
- 46:13Speaker 2: a conversation should be very heavy around nine. So I
- 46:16Speaker 2: just I wanted to talk about that. McCoy. Players to
- 46:20Speaker 2: watch this before we get out of the players to
- 46:21Speaker 2: watch in terms of injury are just they're hotspots. Jeremiah
- 46:28Speaker 2: Love could he go as early as three styles? Just
- 46:32Speaker 2: watch Dallas, Oh, Ruby and Bain. I know Ruby Bain.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Chiefs got to talk about him, they need him. Caleb Downs,
- 46:41Speaker 2: how far does he drop out of the top ten,
- 46:43Speaker 2: which I know some personal people think as possible. And
- 46:46Speaker 2: who is the first tackle, true tackle to go off
- 46:48Speaker 2: the board?
- 46:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I would think it will be Malianola,
- 46:52Speaker 1: but we'll see, we'll see. And then again, some people
- 46:55Speaker 1: should give me a very good guard. So who knows
- 46:57Speaker 1: where right? And where and where and where right? How
- 47:00Speaker 1: about this? It's it's harder to find who's the first
- 47:03Speaker 1: left tackle to go off the board because it sounds
- 47:05Speaker 1: like Malinoa is believed to be a right tackle, if
- 47:08Speaker 1: not a guard. And then you get a bunch of
- 47:10Speaker 1: guys like Blake Miller and Lomus, who people aren't convinced
- 47:14Speaker 1: are definite left tackles either. So it'll be really I
- 47:17Speaker 1: guess Cayden Proctor is the no doubt about it left tackle,
- 47:21Speaker 1: and I don't want to say know that about it.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I mean that that's where he plays left tackle, but
- 47:25Speaker 1: he could be more of a mid to late guy.
- 47:27Speaker 1: So really interesting.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Oh on on Proctor, I know, I think we talked
- 47:35Speaker 2: about this. We've heard that some teams think he could
- 47:37Speaker 2: want to play guard. Yes, you know, look when Makai
- 47:40Speaker 2: Beckam played guard, literally no one other Jeff Staltin thought
- 47:43Speaker 2: he could do it. Right, people see see see people
- 47:48Speaker 2: scoff with this stuff. H You gotta coaches think differently
- 47:51Speaker 2: than than honestly, they also think differently than their college scouts,
- 47:56Speaker 2: do you know.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, we'll see.
- 48:00Speaker 2: It's gonna be a fasting first round. There's because this
- 48:02Speaker 2: is just you know, overall, as we've talked about for
- 48:04Speaker 2: weeks now, this is a low graded first round. If
- 48:08Speaker 2: you want one of those good players, really good players,
- 48:10Speaker 2: you bet you better trade up in the top ten
- 48:12Speaker 2: because it's once you get in the middle teams forget
- 48:14Speaker 2: about it. You're getting guy with the second round grade.
- 48:17Speaker 1: There you go, all right, Thursday Night fun begins first
- 48:20Speaker 1: round in twenty twenty six NFILD Draft. Empty the notebook
