- 0:03Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to another episode of Bust with
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Boys, Episode two oh seven.
- 0:06Speaker 2: You might be a little worried.
- 0:07Speaker 1: You might be seeing this wide frame right now and
- 0:09Speaker 1: not seeing my boy Will Compton. We're not supposed to
- 0:11Speaker 1: start filming for another fifteen minutes, but we all get
- 0:15Speaker 1: on the bus, we're sitting here. I just think to myself,
- 0:17Speaker 1: why not pretend like we're starting our episode, starting our intro,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and then when Will gets here, see just how he
- 0:24Speaker 1: handles the adversity, See how he sits down, how he's
- 0:27Speaker 1: gonna react to, Hey, these boys start without me. Does
- 0:29Speaker 1: he feel some type of way of it or does
- 0:31Speaker 1: he internalize it? It could go either way. How we
- 0:33Speaker 1: feel boys, Do we think he's gonna make a big
- 0:35Speaker 1: fuss over it, or do we think he's gonna internalize.
- 0:38Speaker 3: He's for sure gonna be like, dude, we talked about
- 0:40Speaker 3: starting at noon, so long if he shows up afternoon,
- 0:43Speaker 3: then we're good.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Our big runs. But if he shows up before noon,
- 0:47Speaker 2: he's like, dude, we had a said time.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I know, but if I just say, hey, we were
- 0:50Speaker 1: all here, yeah, you play like it's nothing for a second.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I mean, it looked like he was kind of kind
- 0:55Speaker 3: of aggravated this morning on Twitter.
- 0:56Speaker 1: He got after that one. He got after Buddy on Twitter.
- 0:59Speaker 2: You get see.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I think it was like an early morning. They roue
- 1:02Speaker 3: woke up little too early. Yeah, pop up early. I
- 1:05Speaker 3: had a tough day. The tough day, say Mitchie if
- 1:08Speaker 3: you're not talkingally speaking to the mic.
- 1:11Speaker 4: So I can't Uh was in the ilt like I
- 1:15Speaker 4: saw her?
- 1:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But I did a video driving with Mike in the
- 1:19Speaker 1: car and I got slaughtered for it. So it's like
- 1:21Speaker 1: it's one of this one of those deals. Sometimes I
- 1:24Speaker 1: was driving down Eighth Avenue going to get my haircut,
- 1:26Speaker 1: going to get this mullet, and people were like, how
- 1:28Speaker 1: about let's talk about your kid in the back of
- 1:30Speaker 1: the car. Meanwhile, by the way, two weeks ago, I'm
- 1:32Speaker 1: getting murdered for not having trigger discipline, which, by the way,
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'm a fucking idiot for that. Like I that is
- 1:38Speaker 1: truly something I had no idea about.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I'm better for it now.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But let's take a gander at that, Like, maybe we
- 1:43Speaker 1: should all have a little more lessons on firearm safety.
- 1:45Speaker 1: My right bloss Boss is a big proponent of putting
- 1:48Speaker 1: more rules on getting a gun in this country. He
- 1:51Speaker 1: is not a big Second Amendment guy. Is that not true?
- 1:56Speaker 2: I'm a big Second Amendment gut canceled.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Got him, got him voiced.
- 2:00Speaker 2: We got it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We got what we needed. We got what we needed
- 2:03Speaker 1: before uh before I know holding it, and honestly I was,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I was holding a different to a low key the shoulder.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Not a lot of good mobility in the shoulder.
- 2:13Speaker 1: We're talking about the episode with Jeffrey Starr when we
- 2:17Speaker 1: went to it. We actually went to his house and
- 2:19Speaker 1: we did everything. It's in bus scenes right now. You
- 2:20Speaker 1: can find that. But I don't even know how much
- 2:24Speaker 1: of this we're going to keep in it because this
- 2:25Speaker 1: is all a ploy on how to get Will. But
- 2:27Speaker 1: if he shows up in the next five minutes, great.
- 2:30Speaker 1: What we were talking about before that, though, is I
- 2:31Speaker 1: sent a dick pic to the boys the other day.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Not like a full mass you got like the Eiffel Tower. Look,
- 2:35Speaker 1: we were at the base trying to look up where
- 2:37Speaker 1: you make it look real good? You all know what
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm talking about, dude. The snapchatters out there, Yeah, dude,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you take that fucking thing. When you get that where
- 2:44Speaker 1: has a shadow cast over it? You know, get a
- 2:46Speaker 1: big light put it in the side, so that thing
- 2:49Speaker 1: just look scargantuan. I stepped on the scale and it
- 2:52Speaker 1: was like two seventy one, and I just took a
- 2:55Speaker 1: picture but barely got the little head of my peep
- 2:57Speaker 1: in it. Once I got the head of my peep
- 2:59Speaker 1: in it, I took a picture of it. Send it
- 3:00Speaker 1: to Will Well didn't even fucking know Uely, Oh, bro,
- 3:02Speaker 1: look how much our way? He goes, Oh, I would
- 3:03Speaker 1: guess two sixty five. You look so small. And then
- 3:06Speaker 1: when I I lily called Will told him, hey, buddy,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you do you not see my dick in that photo?
- 3:12Speaker 2: He looks at it and he starts laughing.
- 3:13Speaker 1: And then ten seconds later we got the phoney text
- 3:15Speaker 1: you boys, what did he say?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Talking to Mike bitch?
- 3:20Speaker 5: He said, you, guys, how much do you think Taylor
- 3:22Speaker 5: Taylor wads closest person?
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, And then I said, do you guys guess a
- 3:28Speaker 1: little bit. But it's by the way, Jack, you would
- 3:30Speaker 1: have got that fifty bucks you said two seventy one,
- 3:31Speaker 1: didn't you.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, with that Bill is just a liar. He's all tough.
- 3:37Speaker 2: It was to seventy one point.
- 3:38Speaker 1: It'll come, dude, It'll come.
- 3:39Speaker 2: With your per diem when we get to Vegas. This
- 3:41Speaker 2: that's all I wanted. Yeah, on the credit line.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You put it on the credit line, dude. For those
- 3:46Speaker 1: of you I don't like. Like I said before, I don't
- 3:48Speaker 1: know if this is going in the episode, but we
- 3:50Speaker 1: are going to Vegas this weekend. Our merch is out there.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Saint Patti's Day. If you're listening to this episode now
- 3:56Speaker 1: on Thursday, spoiler alert, you're probably not gonna get it
- 3:59Speaker 1: because we don't have the business day work. Things can happen.
- 4:01Speaker 1: They literally put guys on bikes from New York. I guess,
- 4:04Speaker 1: just to send out merchandise to all you guys.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But get it.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Anyway, because you're gonna have You're gonna be setting ready
- 4:09Speaker 1: to go for next year. And then you got a
- 4:11Speaker 1: vintage team. Now you have the new Boy, and that's great.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But a year from now people be like, oh you
- 4:15Speaker 1: got the new thing. Yeah, this was last year. That's
- 4:17Speaker 1: how long I've been listening.
- 4:18Speaker 2: To the pod.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Little more notes, a little more something to think about.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Three hundred thousand subscribers. Boys, that is outstanding. What a
- 4:28Speaker 1: fucking deal. Well and I both gave you guys flowers
- 4:32Speaker 1: via the bird, But I do want to let you know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: like this seriously is because of you guys. Without you,
- 4:37Speaker 1: guys subscribing, unsubscribing and resubscribing, doing the payoff forward method
- 4:40Speaker 1: where you're telling two people who tell two people who
- 4:42Speaker 1: tell two people, going down and down and down the road,
- 4:44Speaker 1: like this bus would be nothing, dude. We have literally
- 4:46Speaker 1: just a couple of voices and four absolutely talented studs
- 4:49Speaker 1: in the back that are digitally putting our shit together.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Other than that, we would be nothing without you guys.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So thank you so much for just standing by us.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Am I right, my right, boys there it is a man.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I like that.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I like that, dude. So that's what we're That's what
- 5:04Speaker 1: we're fucking dealing with. Now we're gonna pause it and
- 5:07Speaker 1: wait for Will to get here. I'm nervous, Yeah, I'm nervous.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You know, you feel it? How long do we let
- 5:13Speaker 1: him think we're doing it?
- 5:15Speaker 2: Well, well, hey we'll feel that out. Yeah we'll feel
- 5:17Speaker 2: that out.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll feel that out for sure. I'm gonna start
- 5:21Speaker 1: talking about I'll start talking about Kirk Cousins once he
- 5:23Speaker 1: walks in. And then as I'm talking about Kirk Cousins,
- 5:27Speaker 1: you say, hey, should we do a little tear top
- 5:29Speaker 1: before we hit the episode? Oh yeah, shure, we've read
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah all right, boys, Like I said, we're gonna keep
- 5:35Speaker 1: it short today. It has been a phenomenal time this
- 5:38Speaker 1: seventeen minutes with you, this episode this week is Kirk Cousins.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Guy is a fucking stud.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Before we get there, we need to do tear talk.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He's not wrong. We gotta do.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Look who made it boys? Will Compton's here the episode
- 5:52Speaker 1: without the boys. We said we were all here. We
- 5:54Speaker 1: thought we just get it going real quick.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I got you, I got you.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so we got we just were seventeen.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Do you want to do a tier talk with the boys?
- 6:02Speaker 1: What's the tiar talk? Tear Talk's gonna be a favorite
- 6:04Speaker 1: albums of all time.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Let me do research. I love it.
- 6:11Speaker 1: For those of you that have been with us for
- 6:13Speaker 1: those seventeen minutes of this podcast, you just saw Will
- 6:16Speaker 1: Compton's mental fortitude. He just walked onto the bus after
- 6:19Speaker 1: pulling up on time, thinking we started an episode without him,
- 6:23Speaker 1: trying to prank Will Compton. Yet you fucking didn't flinch, unfazed,
- 6:29Speaker 1: didn't flinch.
- 6:30Speaker 6: You gotta you gotta be able to control your emotions,
- 6:32Speaker 6: you and you control the hell of them. There there's
- 6:34Speaker 6: a feeling in there and it's like, you know, it's
- 6:35Speaker 6: whatever the boy said fun.
- 6:36Speaker 2: They had fun, they did it. It's what it is.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but we didn't start the episode, we would have
- 6:40Speaker 1: gotten the bus. We're like, hey, boys, welcome to the episode.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's episode two o seven with Kirk Cousins. We're gonna
- 6:45Speaker 1: wait and we're gonna prank Will as if we've been
- 6:47Speaker 1: doing the episode for seventeen minutes.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Now, you guys did a good job. The seventeen minutes
- 6:50Speaker 6: is the part. The actual part. They got me because
- 6:52Speaker 6: I was like, oh, this is a joke. Well, I
- 6:54Speaker 6: thought I might have just started by myself. Seventeen minutes.
- 6:56Speaker 6: I was like, so we're doing okay?
- 7:00Speaker 2: You actually felt some type of way. Well, I'm thinking
- 7:02Speaker 2: I couldn't.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I couldn't get a heads up because I think there
- 7:04Speaker 1: was I mean, all of us really thought that he
- 7:06Speaker 1: was gonna make it more of a stink about it, right,
- 7:08Speaker 1: a little bit more of a stink. But with that
- 7:10Speaker 1: being said, hey buddy, we're not starting to you're talking yet.
- 7:11Speaker 1: We can do in the beginning of episode for those
- 7:13Speaker 1: of you joining us, and saw the prank that went
- 7:15Speaker 1: horribly wrong on Will there's a reason why it's.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Because nor how long has it been going? What will?
- 7:19Speaker 2: We covered?
- 7:20Speaker 6: No?
- 7:20Speaker 2: We covered nothing. You want to know? We covered nothing. Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 1: We literally talked about ship and we talked about yeah, yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 1: small dick energy, which, by the way, I do have
- 7:28Speaker 1: a small one.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I know, I know.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It's no, it's not it's not strong, it's nice. Oh okay, okay,
- 7:34Speaker 1: we were talking about which is all? Which is all
- 7:35Speaker 1: going to go on the deleted scenes part, By the way,
- 7:39Speaker 1: we are going to When you're taking a piss and
- 7:41Speaker 1: you're sitting on the toilet and you pee, sometimes do
- 7:43Speaker 1: you pee through the gap between the the lid and
- 7:47Speaker 1: the seat or the seat and the actual toilet. You
- 7:50Speaker 1: don't got a little dick? Then?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Oh no, I got no, no, no, no, no, hang on, no,
- 7:54Speaker 2: it's all right.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'm proud of you.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I got a little dick, you got you got a
- 7:59Speaker 2: big dick?
- 7:59Speaker 6: No, oh no no, because when I when I'm peeing,
- 8:02Speaker 6: like you're pushing the boy down.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, see that's kind the sometimes I let that
- 8:09Speaker 1: thing just kind of rat.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 6: Well, if I'm not if I'm never, if I'm never
- 8:13Speaker 6: like not pushing. It's because I'm rocked up and I
- 8:15Speaker 6: have to tuck it under the ring.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We've thought, we covered that too. We covered that too.
- 8:18Speaker 1: All that will be on the back of the episode. Boys,
- 8:20Speaker 1: please enjoy. But the reason why Will was not affected
- 8:23Speaker 1: by these types of situations is because he's durable and reliable,
- 8:27Speaker 1: just like our presenting sponsor to the Chevy Silverado. Football
- 8:29Speaker 1: season is officially over, but that doesn't mean we're gonna
- 8:31Speaker 1: stop rooting for our favorite team. That team is Chevy
- 8:33Speaker 1: and their franchise player, the Silverado, a truck with unstoppable
- 8:36Speaker 1: grit and determination. According to JD Power, the Chevy has
- 8:39Speaker 1: earned more New Vehicle awards than any other brand, and
- 8:42Speaker 1: that is some serious hardware. Do us a favor. Head
- 8:44Speaker 1: over to Chevy dot com to learn more. Silverado as
- 8:47Speaker 1: strong and dependable as the people who drive them. And
- 8:49Speaker 1: for those of you want to learn more about the JD
- 8:51Speaker 1: power that hardware, go to JD visit jdpower dot com
- 8:55Speaker 1: slash Awards.
- 8:57Speaker 6: So you were feeling some type of way it was
- 9:00Speaker 6: the seventeen minutes. All I was thinking about is I
- 9:01Speaker 6: couldn't get a text. That's all I was thinking yeah,
- 9:04Speaker 6: I just couldn't get any heads up.
- 9:06Speaker 1: It feels like you're a little still kind of wondering
- 9:09Speaker 1: what's going on here?
- 9:10Speaker 2: No, no, no, you're good. Yeah, I'm solid. You're okay.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm solid. Literally, like, could you guys tell I
- 9:15Speaker 6: was feeling some type of way. Yeah, I mean I
- 9:17Speaker 6: sat down. I do you Yeah?
- 9:19Speaker 4: You internalized it?
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you do much. That's all I was doing.
- 9:22Speaker 6: I truly typed in like zz top music albums because
- 9:25Speaker 6: I was like, all right, I gotta well, I just
- 9:27Speaker 6: gotta think, like, all right, what are my top albums?
- 9:29Speaker 6: Like I gotta get I gotta do the zoom out thing.
- 9:31Speaker 6: I gotta fucking yeah, you gotta get rid of that.
- 9:33Speaker 6: We'll tackle that after this episode, obviously in good vibes,
- 9:36Speaker 6: Like I'm not trying to be like like bring down
- 9:39Speaker 6: the vibes.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, act badly.
- 9:40Speaker 1: If we actually started this episode with I would have
- 9:42Speaker 1: pouted it after we got all if we started this
- 9:45Speaker 1: episode for real without will knowing seeing your body language
- 9:49Speaker 1: though when you walked in it did it did have
- 9:52Speaker 1: that man, fuck these guys type vibes? No that I
- 9:54Speaker 1: felt like it was the what the fuck's going on? Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 1: starting the show but if we would have done your talk,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, I mean, you're a great actor. We've seen
- 10:03Speaker 1: you in the super Cuts commercial.
- 10:05Speaker 6: By the end of a tear talk, I would have
- 10:07Speaker 6: got it together for the acting part. Just all right,
- 10:10Speaker 6: let's just let's just join in the ergal yea, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 6: there's nothing you can do joining the energy. But when
- 10:16Speaker 6: the episode stopped, I would have been like, so, what's.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I would I would have felt the same exactly,
- 10:23Speaker 1: like what's the deal?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Yeah, zero, heads up. That's the thing.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Like, Jack's back there, fully uned up, He's got the
- 10:29Speaker 6: fucking shades on. He's had a couple of weeks of like,
- 10:32Speaker 6: you know, hey, everybody check out my episode of the
- 10:34Speaker 6: recent episode, I'm bustling with the boys.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's ready to go.
- 10:36Speaker 6: Everybody's sitting around, you know, you hear a couple of
- 10:38Speaker 6: less time. Man, they've really been And then it was
- 10:40Speaker 6: the seventeen minutes we have the clock. When the clock
- 10:43Speaker 6: was going, I was like, they really did jack effort.
- 10:47Speaker 1: It was a team effort, but you pressed, you pressed
- 10:49Speaker 1: start on the fucking time clock because what else working.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Through in my head too, was like there's no way
- 10:54Speaker 6: you can just put the clock probably on like seventeen minutes.
- 10:57Speaker 6: They probably legitimately, they've probably done seventeen minutes of shop.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I don't know why we all ended up sitting on here,
- 11:02Speaker 1: like we all kind of just walked on the bus.
- 11:04Speaker 1: We're kind of just chilling waiting, like at eleven forty five. Yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and we're kind of just like sitting and it was
- 11:09Speaker 1: like I guess, hey, boys, we'll just hey. And I
- 11:11Speaker 1: was like, hey, run the clock. We're just gonna we're
- 11:13Speaker 1: gonna pull a little prank on Willie, which, by the way,
- 11:15Speaker 1: it worked, shows growth.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Worked.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Definitely shows growth what you was a human being? No,
- 11:20Speaker 1: just you ate that, you absolutely ate that.
- 11:23Speaker 6: What am I supposed to do if we're really going
- 11:25Speaker 6: truly like legit, if we're truly going and you guys
- 11:27Speaker 6: were in it, like of course I could feel some
- 11:29Speaker 6: double boy, but what am I gonna do?
- 11:31Speaker 1: Just start creating drama on the bus? There's two there's
- 11:33Speaker 1: two types. Two types of things you could have done.
- 11:34Speaker 1: You could have done what you did, or you could
- 11:36Speaker 1: have made a big bit about it and like literally
- 11:38Speaker 1: put us all like the shame and it had been
- 11:40Speaker 1: like a part of the episode. It just like just
- 11:42Speaker 1: played into it, like yo, what the fuck are y'all doing?
- 11:44Speaker 1: Y An'll know who runs the shit, like just start
- 11:46Speaker 1: being like that. Yeah, yeah, we said twelve.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I was working through it. I was working through Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 1: We were legit sitting here for a while, just hanging out,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and then Loki it kind of we're just kind of talking.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Yeah, because I came out, I had brought the hats.
- 12:01Speaker 6: They look sick, but I hear you going and stuff,
- 12:05Speaker 6: and I'm like, he's ripping on something like did they
- 12:07Speaker 6: did he just start? Like did he like just start?
- 12:09Speaker 6: And then I come and said, I'm like, hey, you
- 12:11Speaker 6: started the pod And then again the seventeen minutes, like oh,
- 12:14Speaker 6: these boys have been rolling.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Everybody's got smiles.
- 12:17Speaker 1: They're all feeling themselves out there, and then you're like
- 12:19Speaker 1: you want to do tear talking Literally in my head,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, man, yeah, yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 6: What's the tear talk? Top top music albums? And I'm
- 12:27Speaker 6: just thinking, like, all right, just fucking just get in,
- 12:31Speaker 6: immerse yourself.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Holding this anger until the crowds away.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Then you can yell at your wife, go home off
- 12:37Speaker 1: a party like broadcast, wait to talk about that later. Look,
- 12:40Speaker 1: he'd be cold to them and not cold and for
- 12:42Speaker 1: people are noticing.
- 12:43Speaker 6: Then literally one day we're all hanging out, the squad's
- 12:45Speaker 6: all hanging out, and then it just comes up and
- 12:46Speaker 6: Charles like, oh, so that's why you were that one day.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, that was fucking I was tight. I
- 12:51Speaker 2: was of us.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Oh dude, speaking of being tight, dude, you fucking took
- 12:56Speaker 1: a dude for a little bit of a walk today.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I felt, you know, it's been a it's been a
- 13:02Speaker 1: while since I you know, I enjoy the old the
- 13:04Speaker 1: old pantry walks to buckling in just getting a little
- 13:07Speaker 1: creative with like doing something. I thought it'd been a
- 13:09Speaker 1: minute and we by the way, I don't know if
- 13:11Speaker 1: you've already if we've celebrated the three hundred thousand subscribers
- 13:14Speaker 1: on YouTube.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm fired up posting this thing on YouTube.
- 13:18Speaker 6: I wake up this morning, I kind of see that comment.
- 13:20Speaker 6: I'm thinking, the fuck is this dude talking about with
- 13:23Speaker 6: this negative energy.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah, he was saying something like you boys have already
- 13:25Speaker 1: made millions or something like yeah, you guys have all
- 13:28Speaker 1: made millions.
- 13:28Speaker 6: Like let's not act like you've actually been grinding from
- 13:30Speaker 6: the dirt or something like that. And it's like, that's
- 13:32Speaker 6: not the fucking point dude, Montana, Missouri, Kate Creek, Arizona. Yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 6: but even then, like just from a like just from
- 13:38Speaker 6: the business sense. That's why I wanted to go in
- 13:40Speaker 6: those little tangents and talk about it, because it's not
- 13:42Speaker 6: like it's not like we just sit there, we're like, oh,
- 13:44Speaker 6: you know, we just have a fuck lot of man,
- 13:46Speaker 6: let's just spend ridiculously and like this stuff's gonna work.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Like there's been a lot of there's been a lot
- 13:50Speaker 6: of sweat equity from all the boys put into this
- 13:54Speaker 6: to where that's not gonna be disrespected.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Do you feel do you want to tell people how
- 13:59Speaker 1: much it costs for us to start this when.
- 14:01Speaker 6: You got up and going, I was alluding to it
- 14:02Speaker 6: on there, probably collectively about seventy grand total seventy Yeah, upfront,
- 14:08Speaker 6: the upfront cost, the upfront cost of the equipment, the
- 14:13Speaker 6: legal the legal.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Fees, Yeah, all of that stuff.
- 14:18Speaker 1: The bus, the inside the bus, sounds, tripping the bus
- 14:21Speaker 1: as much as we can.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Yeah, because there was the element that thing was more
- 14:24Speaker 6: like fifty but hey, there were there. I want to
- 14:27Speaker 6: say mine was like fifty two and fifty something. In
- 14:30Speaker 6: years was like twelve, But it all it all made balance.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But from my shout out will by the way, from
- 14:36Speaker 1: my fifty two thousand dollars, from my clothes, from my shoes.
- 14:40Speaker 2: It was.
- 14:42Speaker 6: I never wanted you to thought because we're obviously boys,
- 14:45Speaker 6: but we had obvious We had also just met, not
- 14:48Speaker 6: even a year.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It hadn't even been a year.
- 14:49Speaker 1: At that now it probably was. Yeah, it definitely wasn't
- 14:51Speaker 1: a year. It was a little over eight months probably,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and you signed your like the record breaking deal. When
- 14:57Speaker 1: you signed it, there was a zero part of me
- 14:58Speaker 1: ever wanting you to feel like, oh, trying to you know,
- 15:02Speaker 1: play into that role of like, hey we need this,
- 15:04Speaker 1: we need that, you know what i mean.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Playing scam.
- 15:09Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it just seemed like seemed like a leech
- 15:11Speaker 6: on them or something because you know, Taylor, like we talked,
- 15:13Speaker 6: we we've alluded to podcasts before about how we would
- 15:15Speaker 6: be on FaceTime and there's a lot of doubt and
- 15:17Speaker 6: insecurity and fears like doing this thing, and you know,
- 15:20Speaker 6: a couple of times you're like wanting to be in
- 15:22Speaker 6: You're like a man, I don't know, I don't know
- 15:23Speaker 6: if this is the route.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 15:25Speaker 6: So it's never like I wanted to come at you like, hey,
- 15:28Speaker 6: you know, yo, me twenty five grand for all this
- 15:31Speaker 6: stuff put in at any point, because it's like, you know,
- 15:33Speaker 6: we're just betting that thing's gonna work out.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I think at one point you're like, we both got
- 15:37Speaker 1: our money back in this situation that you obviously paid yourself.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah, well, there was more legal stuff that came back
- 15:41Speaker 2: around it. We made it all. Yeah, we make it all.
- 15:44Speaker 6: Yeah, but at the beginning, but at the beginning it
- 15:46Speaker 6: was like, yeah, probably upfront cost sixty seventy grand.
- 15:48Speaker 7: Yeah, it was.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And the thing too, for those of you who think
- 15:51Speaker 1: about starting a podcast or starting anything in general, like
- 15:53Speaker 1: the base original idea we had for this podcast, it's
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's not that like we like being on a bus.
- 15:59Speaker 1: We wanted to call out the den at one point
- 16:02Speaker 1: we well yeah, but it was like the yeah because
- 16:05Speaker 1: if yeah, and we were more thinking of going down
- 16:07Speaker 1: like a mental aspect, like having a little humor in there,
- 16:11Speaker 1: but make it a more serious podcast.
- 16:13Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, because when I was like, when
- 16:15Speaker 6: I'm journaling it all down, I'm thinking like I'm gonna
- 16:17Speaker 6: have to go about this on my own. And then
- 16:19Speaker 6: fortunately when we ended up coming around and you're like, yo,
- 16:22Speaker 6: I'm down and oh thank god, and then you would
- 16:25Speaker 6: you joke at me about like all working title, working title,
- 16:27Speaker 6: which was good because we didn't want to do anything
- 16:29Speaker 6: surrounding the Boys yet because the for the Boys was
- 16:33Speaker 6: such a locker room thing with Titans. We didn't want
- 16:36Speaker 6: our peers from the locker room thinking we're trying to
- 16:38Speaker 6: take something that we all were doing together on the Titans.
- 16:41Speaker 6: When we made this for the Boys shirts in the
- 16:43Speaker 6: middle of the season, after we beat Jacksonville and were
- 16:45Speaker 6: we undefeated at that point, on a little streak.
- 16:48Speaker 1: We went on a little streak and we yeah, we
- 16:50Speaker 1: definitely have the foot Boys had the wolf on the back.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we were all part of us didn't want
- 16:55Speaker 2: to do like, didn't want to take that and make
- 16:57Speaker 2: it our own thing.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Obviously we ended up going with with the Boys, but
- 17:01Speaker 6: we were trying to find titles that was away from
- 17:04Speaker 6: having to use for the Boys because we just kind
- 17:05Speaker 6: of felt we were in our heads to bite and
- 17:07Speaker 6: like we were taking advantage of something that we were
- 17:09Speaker 6: doing with the locker room.
- 17:10Speaker 1: And there was even like some like discomfort with the bus,
- 17:13Speaker 1: Like I was all on the bus right away, you
- 17:16Speaker 1: were kind of like more iffy, like hey, like, I
- 17:17Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know about it. Yeah, because when
- 17:19Speaker 1: we saw the bus, I literally sat up like Will
- 17:21Speaker 1: said this, and I doubled down on it, like if way,
- 17:24Speaker 1: I'm buying this bus, whether we use it for a
- 17:25Speaker 1: podcast or not, like, yeah, two.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Grand for this thing? Are you kidding me? Yeah?
- 17:28Speaker 6: Because when we were when we were working with a cardboard,
- 17:31Speaker 6: They're like, hey, what do you think about this bus
- 17:32Speaker 6: in the back, And I was like, I'm gonna be honest,
- 17:34Speaker 6: I don't want to do it at all, but we'll
- 17:35Speaker 6: wait till Taylor gets here. Because I was actually your
- 17:38Speaker 6: first time coming back in April, yeah, and we were
- 17:40Speaker 6: about to start putting the podcast together and I was like,
- 17:43Speaker 6: but I know when Taylor gets here, he's probably gonna
- 17:44Speaker 6: want to do it, so let's just wait to see
- 17:46Speaker 6: what he says. When he gets here, you go out back,
- 17:47Speaker 6: you're falling in love with him?
- 17:49Speaker 1: Oh bro?
- 17:49Speaker 2: I was.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I was Henna, like, holy fuck, look at this thing. Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 1: there's a piece of gold just sitting in the back
- 17:54Speaker 1: that no one was touching. And I was like, hey,
- 17:56Speaker 1: look bro, I'll put in twelve grand if it works.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Awesome. If it doesn't, I'll sit the thing in my backyard. Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 6: So I'm like all right, and you're like, I think
- 18:04Speaker 6: we can get this done in two We are because
- 18:06Speaker 6: we were like we needed a space. It's like I
- 18:08Speaker 6: get it where you're back in April, but you're gonna
- 18:10Speaker 6: be doing OTAs because at that point we were just
- 18:12Speaker 6: wanting to do the podcast around football, not during not.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Like we're gonna do it off season.
- 18:17Speaker 6: If I'm just thinking like dude, this is gonna like
- 18:19Speaker 6: take a minute, like we're already we've already lost three
- 18:22Speaker 6: or four months. We've been waiting on you to get here.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Now you want to build out this fucking bus. That's
- 18:26Speaker 6: even gonna take more time when we can start backlocking episodes.
- 18:29Speaker 6: But you're like you said I think you said like
- 18:31Speaker 6: ten days, twelve days.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because we talked about who is that what's that
- 18:34Speaker 1: guy's name that did it for us, and he was like,
- 18:36Speaker 1: I can get this done for you guys, and less
- 18:39Speaker 1: pissed off this I know it's breaking my heart. Once
- 18:41Speaker 1: we know, we'll definitely reach out because God damn, and
- 18:45Speaker 1: he does like Carpendi work ed Redgwood, Houston. Great fucking
- 18:49Speaker 1: dude told him. I was like, how much you think
- 18:50Speaker 1: it would cost? Paying you?
- 18:52Speaker 2: What's that buss? The documentary? I almost just hated because
- 18:56Speaker 2: we were also we were also boys. Yeah we we are.
- 19:00Speaker 2: We are bosing.
- 19:00Speaker 1: He made me a chicken coop that I still have
- 19:02Speaker 1: been picked up from him four years ago. Yeah, loading dot.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I can't remember his name. Awesome dude. He looks like,
- 19:09Speaker 1: so I think Jeff. It might be Jeff. Yeah, Jeff,
- 19:12Speaker 1: let's say Jeff Jeff.
- 19:13Speaker 2: So Jeff it is.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Well, we talked to Jeff and I go up to
- 19:16Speaker 1: him and I'm like, hey, how long do you think
- 19:17Speaker 1: to take take the like soundproof, like get this thing ready?
- 19:20Speaker 2: So I do an episode and at the time as
- 19:22Speaker 2: fast as possible.
- 19:23Speaker 1: We were like willing to pay more to get it
- 19:25Speaker 1: done faster. Bro, when we I hope do we have
- 19:28Speaker 1: a photo?
- 19:29Speaker 2: What do you what? Did Jack say? Nothing that would
- 19:30Speaker 2: be a good super short just let it ride. Check
- 19:33Speaker 2: out our instagram.
- 19:35Speaker 6: Yeah this such a cut said asap, as fast as possible.
- 19:42Speaker 2: God damn.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But when we had this bus, like when we first
- 19:45Speaker 1: got it, I hope we have a photo of it.
- 19:46Speaker 1: But there was like chairs and like wasp nests be
- 19:52Speaker 1: bro like crazy ship.
- 19:54Speaker 2: You're like, yeah, we need to bring a priest in
- 19:55Speaker 2: here and exercise this place.
- 19:57Speaker 1: No, it was you could tell like some demon ship.
- 20:00Speaker 4: It went on.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we had to burn some stage, do some shit
- 20:02Speaker 1: like that in here because it was fucking wild. And
- 20:04Speaker 1: Buddy was like, yeah, I get this on ten days.
- 20:06Speaker 1: We are you serious? And I literally went to home
- 20:08Speaker 1: depot that day and picked out the flooring and the
- 20:11Speaker 1: color for the walls. Right, yeah, yeah, I remember that.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And he's like, we got to do soundproffing. That was
- 20:16Speaker 1: a cardboard. They're like, you have to do some sort
- 20:17Speaker 1: of soundproofing because the metal will.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Radiate too much.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Radiate, bounce off the bounce off off the metal, say radiate, dude,
- 20:24Speaker 1: We'll fucking we'll say radiate. But yeah, dude, we do
- 20:28Speaker 1: have a little documentary on Busting with the Boys, don't we.
- 20:30Speaker 6: Yeah, if you're not subscribing, you just go on our
- 20:32Speaker 6: pages and that the video that's up documentary.
- 20:39Speaker 2: That's so funny, dude.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I did see a clip because when I saw the
- 20:41Speaker 1: three hundred thousand subscribers, I was looking for the photo
- 20:44Speaker 1: from your birthday when I pinned you up against there,
- 20:47Speaker 1: I was there's.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Your birthday, slapping you up a little bit.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And I was looking for that and I found us
- 20:51Speaker 1: with Roman Yosi talking about giving computers aids from looking
- 20:54Speaker 1: at so much porn. And it was just me doing
- 20:57Speaker 1: a bit of like four days going hand on this
- 20:58Speaker 1: computer and like, yeah, weird shit popping up up, take
- 21:04Speaker 1: an appearance.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that interview too.
- 21:08Speaker 6: That was actually when they were going around the locker
- 21:09Speaker 6: room and talking about what for the boys meant because
- 21:11Speaker 6: who was it, Uh was Richard Ard Matthews, Yeah, had
- 21:16Speaker 6: just left the team or something like that, and and
- 21:18Speaker 6: Paul Karski was kind of making a deal about it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, because he he was like, uh, Paul was like, oh,
- 21:23Speaker 1: he's not for the boys because he left he retired
- 21:25Speaker 1: or quit or whatever. And I somehow was like, he's
- 21:28Speaker 1: still for the boys. Yeah, you know, because at that
- 21:31Speaker 1: point everything is for the boys. The whole team was
- 21:33Speaker 1: saying for the boys. Like interviews dudes were just saying
- 21:35Speaker 1: for the boys.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a cool time, dude, that was a
- 21:38Speaker 2: very cool time. Then we fell apart. Yep, then we
- 21:41Speaker 2: fell apart.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But Richard, I mean he basically he got a PD
- 21:44Speaker 1: like two weeks later he did Uh No, that was.
- 21:46Speaker 6: That was next year. That was the next year, was it? Yeah,
- 21:49Speaker 6: unless you knew in season that the next year you're
- 21:51Speaker 6: gonna get in trouble.
- 21:52Speaker 1: No, was it twenty nineteen or twenty eighteen we started
- 21:54Speaker 1: this The season that we had that was for the
- 21:57Speaker 1: Boys was twenty eighteen my first year here, Yeah what
- 21:59Speaker 1: I'm saying, but like that, and then the next off
- 22:02Speaker 1: season when the podcast.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Right, I was my bad.
- 22:05Speaker 1: My timeline was mixed up because here we're talking about
- 22:07Speaker 1: wiping yeah, which we actually were just having that conversation.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You guys will see at the end of this podcast
- 22:11Speaker 1: when we're trying to prank Will and did a phenomenal
- 22:13Speaker 1: job of not fucking flinching, bro, not a flinch type
- 22:16Speaker 1: of dude. Thank you for going back in memory lane
- 22:18Speaker 1: with us. Is there anything else you want to say
- 22:19Speaker 1: about it before we change the subjects.
- 22:21Speaker 2: We're sure I did quit on us. He really did.
- 22:26Speaker 2: He retired on the boy. You know, he just straight
- 22:29Speaker 2: up quit. Dude. I get there. He was our best
- 22:31Speaker 2: receiver at the time, Like I.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Get any of the business side that goes into it.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Every player is an individual contractor.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Like there is a selfish element of playing but when
- 22:40Speaker 6: you're in it, like being before the boys and the
- 22:43Speaker 6: boys are what matter like and that's a party, you
- 22:45Speaker 6: essentially quit the boy.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And it was like week eight too, like, bro, we're halfway. Yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 1: Like if you add camp and eight weeks of the season,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you're more than halfway.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Like yeah, fuck dude. He was with the boy in
- 22:56Speaker 2: the locker room. He was always like really he would
- 22:58Speaker 2: say some wild, wild wild.
- 23:01Speaker 6: One of those guys who was like because he'd always
- 23:02Speaker 6: bring a big ass speaker everywhere, even in the shower.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you'd have it set up like a massive my
- 23:07Speaker 1: man did not want to be alone with his own thoughts. No,
- 23:09Speaker 1: he had to have that music up for something like that.
- 23:12Speaker 2: But yeah, you uh d Matthews.
- 23:17Speaker 1: But he was like seven more weeks. Totally quit on us.
- 23:20Speaker 1: He totally quit on it.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Left the boys.
- 23:22Speaker 1: He bounce, but he bounced, He bounced, and I was
- 23:23Speaker 1: trying to sing your praises during but he.
- 23:26Speaker 2: You did that.
- 23:27Speaker 6: That was when all the boys are staying strong, too strong.
- 23:30Speaker 6: Paul was the evil villain.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, remember he was taking pictures like look at these
- 23:34Speaker 1: quotes around He's like, is this for the boys, because
- 23:36Speaker 1: he was you know, Paul's always trying to find He's
- 23:39Speaker 1: always trying to find something ill. Yeah, and you can
- 23:41Speaker 1: kind of watch like the turbulence that Paul's had playing
- 23:45Speaker 1: that role for so long.
- 23:46Speaker 2: He can't be an asshole. Yeah forever.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Hey, by the way, you threw a wild shot at
- 23:50Speaker 1: him the other night, did you like it? Wild shot?
- 23:52Speaker 1: Is it a good one? Like I smiled, I'm like,
- 23:55Speaker 1: you have to yeah, But I also that's Paul and
- 23:58Speaker 1: Paul and I actually have a good reationship.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Like we would talk. He'd be very candid with me.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I'd be very candid with him, but like, and I
- 24:05Speaker 1: would always tell me, you're like, you are the guy
- 24:07Speaker 1: like the stars up. You are the villain of the
- 24:08Speaker 1: locker room before COVID hit and we weren't allowed to
- 24:11Speaker 1: have anybody in there. Now they can have the media
- 24:14Speaker 1: in the locker room. But yeah, Paul just saying shit
- 24:17Speaker 1: about Jeffrey Simmons's like, bro, who like that is legitimately
- 24:20Speaker 1: a strategic thing that agents tell you, Hey, you can
- 24:23Speaker 1: do you can do this, you can do that, you
- 24:25Speaker 1: can delete all the photos off your off your page
- 24:29Speaker 1: of the team, like, because the whole goal of that
- 24:32Speaker 1: for Jeffrey Simmons to take all the photos off is
- 24:35Speaker 1: to cause a stir within the.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Fan based community.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Fan based community gets outraged, just like we saw with
- 24:40Speaker 1: Derek Henry a couple of days ago.
- 24:41Speaker 2: We see a thing.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Derek is on the trading block, the Titans are moving
- 24:45Speaker 1: a moving Derek. The whole fucking Nashville world exploded. If
- 24:49Speaker 1: this fucking happens, I'm done, My PSLs are over, We're
- 24:52Speaker 1: fucking over it, all that shit, and then the next day,
- 24:54Speaker 1: look what happened. Oh, it's actually not a reliable source.
- 24:56Speaker 1: It's not gonna actually be a thing. Jeff his situation.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I it's a little more fifty fifty where like people
- 25:01Speaker 1: like childish as fuck and also like people like do
- 25:04Speaker 1: something times do something about it. But it is a
- 25:06Speaker 1: strategic plan that agents and other people put in your
- 25:09Speaker 1: head when you're trying to get that new contract, which
- 25:12Speaker 1: we all know that Jeff deserves.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's a fair point.
- 25:15Speaker 6: It's like, if you're strictly looking at it objectively from
- 25:17Speaker 6: a business standpoint, it does seem because I can you
- 25:20Speaker 6: you know, you're like, you know why, you know why
- 25:22Speaker 6: you delete all that stuff off?
- 25:23Speaker 2: But yeah, when you bring up the strategy behind and
- 25:25Speaker 2: everything else.
- 25:26Speaker 6: It's almost like you do cause that little bit of
- 25:29Speaker 6: a voice in the fan base community, which is like
- 25:31Speaker 6: a public perception thing, which is which is like a
- 25:35Speaker 6: small piece of trying to create some type of whether
- 25:38Speaker 6: it's leverage or that is an element you know in
- 25:40Speaker 6: the whole negotiation. Is you want, you know, you want
- 25:44Speaker 6: to show the fans like, hey, if you feel like
- 25:45Speaker 6: you're being done wrong. I'm not saying that that's what's happening,
- 25:48Speaker 6: but it's just a little element to move on the
- 25:50Speaker 6: chess board to try and cause that little stir to
- 25:52Speaker 6: get the fan base, you.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Know, by the fan base more kind of on your
- 25:56Speaker 2: side as a player.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, because people do feel pressure. The power of social media.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Owner see it, GM, see it, Coach, you see it.
- 26:03Speaker 2: We all know.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Rabel is probably on Twitter right now as I'm speaking. Yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 1: he fucking loves Twitter. He is all about toss a
- 26:09Speaker 1: body bag out there. Oh yeah, and it's probably gonna
- 26:11Speaker 1: be you or me. At any moment. Did I feel
- 26:13Speaker 1: like I can get got by Rabel anything? Yeah, I'm
- 26:15Speaker 1: not even that we're not even the team anymore. Not
- 26:18Speaker 1: just randomly.
- 26:18Speaker 6: He was at the combine and he sends a selfie
- 26:20Speaker 6: with him in some linebacker and and all says is
- 26:24Speaker 6: finding your replacement.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't even been on the team in a minute.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Did you tell me two years? Yeah?
- 26:30Speaker 6: Like, did you tell me the best the best player
- 26:32Speaker 6: you've ever coached? And he goes he loves you. But
- 26:35Speaker 6: you know, I don't know whyle I was saying that.
- 26:37Speaker 1: It's crazy if Abel didn't want to answer that question.
- 26:40Speaker 1: He did, Yeah, yeah, yeah, he didn't even say that question.
- 26:42Speaker 6: But a it's dope that these fucking like the generation
- 26:46Speaker 6: of these collegiate athletes are getting there saying that, you know,
- 26:49Speaker 6: because Bray's probably thinking, like, what do you love?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Complke? What do you do? You know what I mean?
- 26:56Speaker 2: You know, Yo, that's fucking tough to hear you say
- 26:58Speaker 2: about yourself.
- 26:59Speaker 4: I know, but what do you do?
- 27:01Speaker 6: If there's one team where I didn't do a lot
- 27:03Speaker 6: on it was the Titans. Yeah, like the Raiders, I
- 27:06Speaker 6: got to play and start and to have a role.
- 27:11Speaker 6: I did start against the Colts, basically started against the Broncos. Right,
- 27:15Speaker 6: but we're not but not an optimal not an optimal
- 27:19Speaker 6: situations Matt, Yeah, fair, No, No, I guess what I'm
- 27:25Speaker 6: talking about is the role I felt like I was
- 27:27Speaker 6: in the Titans.
- 27:28Speaker 2: We're different than the roles.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I felt like I was in with the with the
- 27:31Speaker 1: you were started at the Redskins, you were started at
- 27:33Speaker 1: the Raiders, like I was a guy that was starting
- 27:36Speaker 1: on Rabel.
- 27:37Speaker 6: If there was never that kind of relationship, that collaborative
- 27:39Speaker 6: relationship from coach to linebacker, like hey, how we scheme
- 27:41Speaker 6: and stuff like that.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Throw Will in there, you know what I mean? No, dude,
- 27:47Speaker 2: they Ravens, No game, Ravens.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I got the clips if you fucking you in the
- 27:55Speaker 1: playoff game?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Uh no, no, no, not that one I'm talking about.
- 27:58Speaker 6: Remember when I got cut and then I got put
- 28:00Speaker 6: on prank squad and then jay On Hurd his elbow?
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, do you remember that that one? And
- 28:06Speaker 2: then I got to start from the Colts the next
- 28:07Speaker 2: week there yeah, O VMO twitch but Rabels at all
- 28:14Speaker 2: to save Rabel's an elite ball bust. It's basically what
- 28:18Speaker 2: it was. The selfie hey, finding your replacement.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Going back to what you're saying about the combine, do
- 28:23Speaker 1: when I was on the field during the combine with
- 28:26Speaker 1: Joe and stuff like that, I'm like, literally with Joe Thomas,
- 28:29Speaker 1: who is a we'll have a Hall of Fame jacket
- 28:32Speaker 1: around his shoulders. Come August and dudes are like the boy.
- 28:36Speaker 1: It's like jogging by after a drill. Dudes are about it.
- 28:39Speaker 1: You touched your leg?
- 28:41Speaker 2: No I didn't.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I sang that man's praise. He's a stud.
- 28:44Speaker 6: He is. I mean, he's a fucking hate a stance.
- 28:47Speaker 6: The can't fucking stand the way. The goat is Joe Thomas,
- 28:50Speaker 6: the goat of all losers. Yeah, there's no question, you
- 28:54Speaker 6: know what I mean.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I was immediately about to say no, because I think
- 28:56Speaker 1: Trent Trent is the goat offensive lineman.
- 29:00Speaker 6: All right, but I'm talking about just the most loser
- 29:02Speaker 6: franchise that like he had to sit there and just
- 29:05Speaker 6: be on this team and be the best player on
- 29:07Speaker 6: the team for how many years?
- 29:09Speaker 2: Double years? He played ten years? And then Barry Sanders
- 29:12Speaker 2: might have something to say about that too.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Yeah, fair, who's more like I would have been a
- 29:17Speaker 6: ball player, though, say that question in a full sentence.
- 29:20Speaker 6: Is Joe Thomas the goat of all losers? And clip
- 29:23Speaker 6: put it out there and clip yeah, rip it out
- 29:27Speaker 6: there in consecutive Pro Bowl and I would, uh, I
- 29:34Speaker 6: wonder what the best record the Brown said during his
- 29:38Speaker 6: whole time there.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Look up, Look that up, look a look that up.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Let's use the computer. He started those however many years
- 29:51Speaker 5: he played. He started every single game in a row,
- 29:53Speaker 5: never missed a game.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah, ten thousand and sixty seven snaps. You know who
- 29:59Speaker 1: saw his life snap me? I was on the field.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Pull up that clip too, and you're trying. Yeah, you're
- 30:04Speaker 1: trying to you try to go get him little last
- 30:06Speaker 1: or something like bro. We started talking about that during
- 30:08Speaker 1: the UH during the broadcast of the NFL Plus at
- 30:15Speaker 1: the Combine, I started to telling that story, and Joe's
- 30:17Speaker 1: all smiles because we were joking about how like he's like,
- 30:19Speaker 1: you're the last person to touch me when I played,
- 30:21Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, that's probably the most embarrassing
- 30:22Speaker 1: moment in my NFL career. By the way, been knocked
- 30:25Speaker 1: out twice twenty two jcls like that was way more embarrassing.
- 30:29Speaker 1: He's like fifteen yards away from me, and as he's
- 30:31Speaker 1: getting up, I jog out there and he jogs.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Away from me. I'm like, get a little get a
- 30:36Speaker 2: little whisp of the middle finger on the back of
- 30:38Speaker 2: his cheek. Dude didn't jog back, bucket. Yeah, Joe Thomas
- 30:42Speaker 2: and his year career.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I believe it when when was his first year and
- 30:46Speaker 3: seven twenty seventeen and two thousand and seven was their
- 30:49Speaker 3: only winning season at ten and six, and then his
- 30:52Speaker 3: final season with the Browns.
- 30:54Speaker 2: They were oh and sixteen. Yeah, but yeah, only winning
- 30:57Speaker 2: season was his rookie only winning season.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Since is your rookie year and think about it, you
- 31:02Speaker 6: get drafted, you go ten and six your rookie year,
- 31:04Speaker 6: You're like, don't worry.
- 31:05Speaker 2: You know that after that last game, Hey, don't worry boys,
- 31:07Speaker 2: we'll be back. We're building something. Yeah, we're building something special. Yeah.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Man, that fucking sucks. Now. You guys have heard the
- 31:15Speaker 1: story about Joe almost getting traded to the Broncos. Remind
- 31:20Speaker 1: us so it's uh the deadline of the trading deadlines,
- 31:24Speaker 1: like week eight of the NFL season, and apparently Peyton
- 31:27Speaker 1: Manning called Joe Thomas was like, hey, I need somebody.
- 31:29Speaker 1: We're gonna win a Super Bowl this year. We want
- 31:31Speaker 1: to trade for you, and I've heard we can we
- 31:34Speaker 1: can clarify with Joe. Joe is the GM of the
- 31:37Speaker 1: Browns said, please don't trade me. So the GM of
- 31:39Speaker 1: the Browns put in the trade paper fax machine whatever
- 31:44Speaker 1: it is, like five minutes after the deadline ended, so
- 31:47Speaker 1: it didn't actually go through and made it a mistake,
- 31:50Speaker 1: so he could stay on the Browns really and.
- 31:52Speaker 6: He would have won a super Bowl vaguely, yeah, because
- 31:54Speaker 6: I think it might have been you who were Who's
- 31:56Speaker 6: telling me that? Because then I was like, man, what
- 31:58Speaker 6: if somebody like hey, I think I played the role
- 32:01Speaker 6: of like Patrick Mahomes calls like, hey, let's go get
- 32:03Speaker 6: this super Bowl?
- 32:04Speaker 2: You see the Chiefs? I did see that. What's what's
- 32:07Speaker 2: the what's the what's the eyes there with the Chiefs?
- 32:10Speaker 2: You know you dropped the eyes late night text right
- 32:14Speaker 2: late night?
- 32:14Speaker 1: Little deal? What's thet I does know that Alanda Brown
- 32:17Speaker 1: is now testing free agency. They didn't tag him either.
- 32:20Speaker 1: They didn't tag him. Yeah, that's why he's testing free agent.
- 32:23Speaker 1: So it is gonna be a bit of a deal.
- 32:25Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I know there was like a couple of conversations in
- 32:28Speaker 1: the beginning, you know, and he left tackle. I wonder
- 32:32Speaker 1: if it's number seventy seven is available?
- 32:35Speaker 2: Look that up. No, he wasn't. He was Andrew Wiley
- 32:39Speaker 2: is seventy seven there?
- 32:40Speaker 8: Huh?
- 32:41Speaker 1: You think Andrew handed over? I think Wiley get a
- 32:45Speaker 1: bag coming towards him for that number. Like, there's a
- 32:51Speaker 1: handful of teams that are seriously interesting to me.
- 32:53Speaker 6: The Chiefs are one of them, absolutely, because they could
- 32:56Speaker 6: basically check all those boxes are looking like at a
- 32:59Speaker 6: Super Bowl super Bowl less.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Team contender Wiley were talk about number seventy seven and
- 33:04Speaker 1: the Chiefs. The negative comments I saw of those like
- 33:07Speaker 1: two hundred whatever comments was no, you're not on the field,
- 33:11Speaker 1: blah blah blah, we're not paying you, pois. I'm gonna
- 33:13Speaker 1: let you get a little secret. The contract I would
- 33:15Speaker 1: get is not gonna be a big number contracts similar
- 33:18Speaker 1: to mine. It would be relative. It would be closer
- 33:21Speaker 1: to yours than it was to my old one. Yo.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sure, okay, easy, Oh yeah, yeah, for sure,
- 33:26Speaker 1: no fucking question.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Broucke.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but there would be incentives, would be incentives, and
- 33:32Speaker 1: your boys, hey, I'm all about chasing it.
- 33:35Speaker 4: That would be a two contending podcasts and the same
- 33:37Speaker 4: team together.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Though. What an awesome situation for a little collap Travis,
- 33:43Speaker 1: big fan of Travis and for Rader Nation.
- 33:45Speaker 6: We'd finally have somebody on the inside of that organization. Yeah,
- 33:48Speaker 6: the franchise both of us. Yeah, because they know the rules.
- 33:51Speaker 6: You want me I take will exactly, and you'll play.
- 33:53Speaker 6: You'll play for minimum. Oh yeah, Sonning. You know my incentives,
- 33:58Speaker 6: all of some incentives. Yeah, yeah, what's the incentive I
- 34:00Speaker 6: entied to yours? So we'll have to look at your
- 34:02Speaker 6: incentives and be like, all right, how should we break
- 34:03Speaker 6: this up?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah? If you that's a good thing to put them on.
- 34:06Speaker 1: My contract negotiation is like if Taylor plays ninety percent
- 34:09Speaker 1: of the snaps, Taylor gets an extra million. We'll get
- 34:11Speaker 1: another two hundred thousand. If I make sixteen starts, well
- 34:16Speaker 1: we'll get a million, Taylor gets two thousands.
- 34:18Speaker 6: I'll be in with the boys, Uh Willie Gay and
- 34:21Speaker 6: Bolton fake that fake gay neg dude, and you know
- 34:24Speaker 6: I'll be singing from the from the mountaintops.
- 34:26Speaker 2: We get the best linebacker corn in the leak because
- 34:28Speaker 2: those dudes are stunts.
- 34:29Speaker 1: And then you exactly, yeah, and you would keep me
- 34:32Speaker 1: in checking my incentives, Like if I had like a
- 34:33Speaker 1: little ham or something, a little soft tissues.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Oh brother, you're playing, I'll be coming to that training
- 34:38Speaker 2: room like, hey, I was talking to Andy and office.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we gotta we gotta go. What's some ben gay
- 34:45Speaker 1: on that thingles roll Yeah, yeah, exactly, bro. Let that
- 34:49Speaker 1: thing fucking rip. So chiefs, if we get action with
- 34:53Speaker 1: the chiefs will very much.
- 34:54Speaker 2: We'll think about it.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Like I said, before this all goes into in my
- 34:58Speaker 1: knee handle the situation. I we'll say, though, I was
- 35:00Speaker 1: squatter two twenty five to day for ten no ship,
- 35:03Speaker 1: so we're talking about like that in your back pocket?
- 35:07Speaker 4: What's that?
- 35:08Speaker 2: Oh buddy?
- 35:09Speaker 1: We were down no shift to the hips or nothing either.
- 35:12Speaker 1: My leg was towrking like I needed dollar bills. That
- 35:14Speaker 1: thing was going fucking wild dog after that, lunges, we're fit, elevated, tough, bro,
- 35:21Speaker 1: nothing like some bulk and split squad. Yes, and I
- 35:23Speaker 1: guess what, full got my leg all the way down
- 35:27Speaker 1: to the ground.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Nice. So the rehab is that's a nice feeling. So
- 35:32Speaker 2: if you're at we're listening things are going well.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Then God for this second, then God for this second
- 35:39Speaker 1: surgery is all I'll say. Yeah, because doctor Elatrosh really
- 35:43Speaker 1: fixed a lot of things in there.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I like how you phrased that.
- 35:47Speaker 6: Thank you, Uh speaking of ATG knees overtos guy he
- 35:50Speaker 6: DM's he would love to come on the bus.
- 35:52Speaker 1: He followed me the other day. Really Yeah, yeah, boy,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I love knees overtoes guy.
- 35:57Speaker 6: And even do an even do a vlog with him,
- 35:59Speaker 6: just like and dude brother, Yeah, train us for train
- 36:02Speaker 6: us for however long you're here.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be incredible. I would absolutely one hundred
- 36:06Speaker 1: percent dow rerect.
- 36:06Speaker 6: Line because he was he was saying how he goes
- 36:09Speaker 6: out of all the sports that I work with, because
- 36:11Speaker 6: he did, he'd post a lot of stuff about him
- 36:13Speaker 6: dunking and just the recovery he's had from all the
- 36:15Speaker 6: knee surgeries that he's had.
- 36:16Speaker 2: He's like, football players are who DM me and want
- 36:19Speaker 2: to work with me the most. You know.
- 36:20Speaker 1: What's funny too, is of the training staffs I've worked with,
- 36:23Speaker 1: there's been a handful that have said to me like
- 36:26Speaker 1: that shit is wrong, Like you shouldn't really yeah, like
- 36:30Speaker 1: having that like working that long, that flection, like you're
- 36:33Speaker 1: like you don't need that.
- 36:34Speaker 2: You shouldn't be doing.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Your knees over your toes ball blah blah, you should
- 36:38Speaker 1: be doing things you need for sports.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah. So it'll be interesting to say, see what he
- 36:41Speaker 2: says about all this stuff.
- 36:42Speaker 6: Yeah, because remember when we were in Arizona for Super
- 36:43Speaker 6: Bowl week and we were training with the boy Drew
- 36:46Speaker 6: Drew at Exo. When we were training the boy Drew
- 36:48Speaker 6: at X shout Out Drew, he was incorporating some of
- 36:51Speaker 6: the knees over stuff in the workout and he was
- 36:53Speaker 6: talking about, you know, yeah, I would be interested to
- 36:56Speaker 6: have him on and talk about all that would be awesome.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Is it Ben? I think his name is Ben, Yeah, Ben, Yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 2: it is Ben.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I I unsubscribe because I was like paying for their
- 37:06Speaker 1: programs and then when I had when I had to
- 37:09Speaker 1: get my knee have surgery again, I literally unsubscribed and
- 37:13Speaker 1: somebody from the ATG account like messaged me. I was like, hey,
- 37:16Speaker 1: why are you unsubscribing? I retoor ACL like I'll be back,
- 37:19Speaker 1: don't worry. They like, okay, good. So I did just
- 37:22Speaker 1: say we need that money. Yeah, we're gonna need that
- 37:24Speaker 1: seventy five dollars a month. Brother, We're gonna need that. Yeah, dude,
- 37:27Speaker 1: they I think they do. I love all I love
- 37:30Speaker 1: all this stuff. That's basically what I Ben Patrick, Yeah,
- 37:33Speaker 1: Ben Patrick, That's pretty much what I And the dude's
- 37:35Speaker 1: fucking shreddy.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Look at him, he's and he can.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Jump out of the fucking gym too.
- 37:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Brother, he and his body strength is incredible.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 6: And the best part about all of his training and
- 37:50Speaker 6: programming is he obviously they have all a full library
- 37:54Speaker 6: and archive of all the videos, but he explains it
- 37:56Speaker 6: on such a level that you can if you're an
- 37:59Speaker 6: old lady or he's some well trained athlete. He's got
- 38:02Speaker 6: like phases for all of it, so you can do
- 38:04Speaker 6: it at home, you can do it on the go,
- 38:06Speaker 6: minimal equipment. It's awesome. I love all his programming, So
- 38:10Speaker 6: I think having him on the bus would be sick.
- 38:12Speaker 6: That'd be cool man for everybody trying to get right
- 38:14Speaker 6: and get jacked in twenty twenty three, we need to
- 38:16Speaker 6: have somebody on who's jacked. Yeah, you can get us
- 38:19Speaker 6: on the path. Yeah, boys cut up for sure. Yeah,
- 38:21Speaker 6: I'll know about Jack.
- 38:22Speaker 1: But before we get into the uh who is it
- 38:25Speaker 1: kir Cousins Cousins episode this week, he came on the
- 38:28Speaker 1: bus when we were in the super Bowl. Incredible individual.
- 38:31Speaker 1: He literally came there And I hope we have that
- 38:33Speaker 1: clip because it played. He came because of will when
- 38:36Speaker 1: you I will let you guys watch this episode. You
- 38:37Speaker 1: guys will get into it. It's a It's an amazing episode.
- 38:40Speaker 1: He goes in his mindset where his head heads out
- 38:42Speaker 1: as far as far as his career, where Minnesota is going,
- 38:45Speaker 1: where he thinks he can go. But my favorite part
- 38:47Speaker 1: of the entire episode was the ending of the episode
- 38:49Speaker 1: when he literally sat there as we.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Were literally getting up.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I'm like going to stand up, and he's giving will
- 38:54Speaker 1: flowers like I've never seen somebody give somebody else flowers
- 38:57Speaker 1: before my life. It was incredible, incredible, and it says
- 39:01Speaker 1: everything he said is absolutely correct about Will. But uh,
- 39:04Speaker 1: before you guys see that episode, Tier Talk now, the
- 39:07Speaker 1: Tier Talk this week is going to be the best albums,
- 39:12Speaker 1: the whole music albums Now. I don't know how it's
- 39:15Speaker 1: gonna go. I know Willie's Big is easy top guy.
- 39:17Speaker 1: They're a great band, maybe not the best band of
- 39:19Speaker 1: all time like Big one A two. But this is
- 39:21Speaker 1: obviously all a preference for everybody. They might they might
- 39:24Speaker 1: not even make it.
- 39:25Speaker 6: That was just my first thought when I was trying
- 39:26Speaker 6: to get out of there. You were in a mental blend. Yeah,
- 39:32Speaker 6: and boys are going to Vegas tomorrow. We are going
- 39:35Speaker 6: to Vegas, staying at the Aria in the lookout. The
- 39:37Speaker 6: boys will be out in the angle, will be out
- 39:39Speaker 6: in the wild.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I want to get I want to say this out
- 39:41Speaker 1: loud and hopefully the Aria hears this. That's where we're staying.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Phenomenal place. Crystal, the lady that does all the stuff,
- 39:47Speaker 1: does a great job. Cannot wait anytime you have to
- 39:50Speaker 1: go to Vegas and stay at the Aria. It's a
- 39:52Speaker 1: phenomenal time. Yeah, very accommodating, very great people. It's gonna
- 39:55Speaker 1: be awesome.
- 39:56Speaker 2: At the bottom.
- 39:56Speaker 6: And whenever we met Nick that night too, with Ben,
- 39:58Speaker 6: with Ben, yeah, and when Ben jo Yeah, staying in
- 40:00Speaker 6: that little circle talking.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Ben had a phenomenal showing, by the way, a
- 40:04Speaker 1: phenomenal showing.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Real, he really did.
- 40:06Speaker 1: I am very excited. But I do have a little
- 40:09Speaker 1: warning for you. Are you I'm coming for it all,
- 40:12Speaker 1: Just so just fucking know that, buddy, I'm coming here
- 40:15Speaker 1: for everything. Yeah, we're gonna are is gonna turn to
- 40:18Speaker 1: the Lauania when it's all fucking done, dude, It's gonna
- 40:21Speaker 1: turn to Lauwania. So better focus up. Let's take a
- 40:24Speaker 1: five minute break, Let's load up our tear talks.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Should we talk at all about the Lamar Jackson stuff.
- 40:29Speaker 6: We don't have to be even well, like what he's
- 40:31Speaker 6: getting franchise tags. All the stuff that's going on out there.
- 40:34Speaker 6: People are losing their minds right now, like losing their minds.
- 40:36Speaker 6: There's a lot of arguing going on.
- 40:38Speaker 1: So I don't know what you've heard about Lamar. I've
- 40:39Speaker 1: heard that him and the Ravens are not cool. He's
- 40:42Speaker 1: basically fuck the Ravens. There was a moment there where
- 40:46Speaker 1: we heard about the Falcons. A reliable source told us
- 40:49Speaker 1: that's we wait to tweet something out missed it by
- 40:52Speaker 1: fifteen seconds. Boys, They said, he's they're franchise tagging him.
- 40:55Speaker 1: So now in the franchise tag they can trade. People
- 40:58Speaker 1: can still trade for Lamar.
- 40:59Speaker 6: The thing that the Ravens did is they put a
- 41:01Speaker 6: non exclusive franchise tag on him. Like again, we'll be
- 41:04Speaker 6: talking this interview with Kirk. We kind of talk about
- 41:06Speaker 6: that because he's a guy who's gotten guaranteed contracts three
- 41:09Speaker 6: years at a time and he's been very brainiac about
- 41:12Speaker 6: his approach. But when Kirk was going through it, they
- 41:15Speaker 6: would franchise tag him. He got franchise tag twice two
- 41:18Speaker 6: years in a row and never got a long term deal.
- 41:20Speaker 6: And you know, Lamar's trying to get a long term
- 41:22Speaker 6: deal fully guaranteed, just like Kirk was trying to get
- 41:24Speaker 6: at the time as well. And but the Ravens put
- 41:27Speaker 6: on a non exclusive tag, meaning he can test the market,
- 41:30Speaker 6: which I think from if we're going full objective business
- 41:33Speaker 6: side of it, putting yourself in the raven shoes, they're
- 41:36Speaker 6: probably willing to pay him, in my opinion, but they
- 41:40Speaker 6: want to know they don't want to overpay him if
- 41:42Speaker 6: they don't have to, Like, hey, go out there and fish,
- 41:44Speaker 6: go out there and see what you can get. Because
- 41:46Speaker 6: the non exclusive tag, you either trade two first round
- 41:48Speaker 6: picks or you get to match the contract that the
- 41:51Speaker 6: team is off from Lamar. So puts them in a
- 41:53Speaker 6: position and be like, hey, go see what your market
- 41:55Speaker 6: is and then we can make a decision after that. Now,
- 41:58Speaker 6: all the emotion and stuff involved, all that kind of stuff,
- 42:01Speaker 6: I'm not as privy to, but I do understand Lamar
- 42:04Speaker 6: wanting a fully like you see what Deshaun Watson did
- 42:07Speaker 6: last year, right and got that fully guaranteed deal for
- 42:10Speaker 6: like two hundred and something million dollars for what five years,
- 42:14Speaker 6: Like he got a massive You're seeing these quarterbacks getting
- 42:16Speaker 6: these high.
- 42:17Speaker 1: D Daniel Jones just got paid forty three million dollars a.
- 42:19Speaker 6: Year, right, which is seems which seems asini now, like
- 42:25Speaker 6: like me thinking about it, it's like, Okay, maybe the giants,
- 42:27Speaker 6: like whoever's running their stuff, they're not you know, they
- 42:30Speaker 6: ultimately just paid Daniel Jones when they probably didn't have
- 42:33Speaker 6: to pay them all that money because.
- 42:34Speaker 2: They're two different organizations.
- 42:35Speaker 6: It's not like just because Daniel gets paid Lamar doesn't
- 42:38Speaker 6: doesn't mean everyone thinks like, oh, this is absurd.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Why when they do that?
- 42:41Speaker 6: There's some some cluting going on, and I know that
- 42:43Speaker 6: it's a little thought or a conspiracy out there that
- 42:46Speaker 6: they're not paying Lamar. And then ultimately all the teams
- 42:50Speaker 6: are publicly coming out to say we don't want to
- 42:52Speaker 6: shop lamorrow have a market for Lamar because they're trying
- 42:55Speaker 6: to clude in a sense to let oh know that
- 42:59Speaker 6: they their gonna be paying fully guaranteed deals and you
- 43:03Speaker 6: get off of the standard that Deshaun was trying to
- 43:05Speaker 6: set when.
- 43:06Speaker 2: He Shawn really started with Kirk Cousins right right.
- 43:09Speaker 6: Right right, But which by the way, Deshawn's even looking
- 43:11Speaker 6: at restructuring his deal so that they can pay other
- 43:13Speaker 6: guys in the market.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but that restructure you can keep guaranteed.
- 43:17Speaker 2: All you want.
- 43:17Speaker 1: All you do is just take the salary and put
- 43:19Speaker 1: it into a signing BoatUS and pay him the minimum
- 43:22Speaker 1: that you're as far as the salary and just the
- 43:24Speaker 1: cap is no longer as big of a hit, ye, Like,
- 43:26Speaker 1: it all depends on how much money a team has
- 43:30Speaker 1: to give you. And I know there's a cap, but
- 43:32Speaker 1: some more cash flow than other. So if the cap
- 43:35Speaker 1: is at like two hundred.
- 43:36Speaker 6: And ten, because there's a thought, I guess what I'm
- 43:38Speaker 6: saying that you can speak to is like the cap
- 43:41Speaker 6: doesn't exist, right, but that's not real.
- 43:43Speaker 2: But the cap is not a real thing. People say
- 43:45Speaker 2: the CAP's not.
- 43:46Speaker 6: Real, And then you can go into kind of explain
- 43:48Speaker 6: that you know, teams who are cash heavy are cash
- 43:51Speaker 6: heavy or not.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Then you can so two teams, Well, one team that's
- 43:56Speaker 1: a cash heavy team is the Dallas Cowboys. You see
- 43:59Speaker 1: it the way they where they did a Tyron Smiths deal.
- 44:01Speaker 1: It was like a ten one hundred million dollars, ten
- 44:03Speaker 1: year deal, which when you see that one hundred million dollars, like,
- 44:05Speaker 1: holy fuck, I think it was eight years.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Holy fuck.
- 44:08Speaker 4: That's great.
- 44:08Speaker 1: But they're only paying them ten a years, so you
- 44:10Speaker 1: can do stuff like that. They put guys on longer,
- 44:12Speaker 1: long winded deals that five, six, seven year deals. But
- 44:16Speaker 1: what teams do when they get put in a position
- 44:19Speaker 1: like the Saints, like the Titans were in before a
- 44:21Speaker 1: couple weeks ago, when they started snippeting a bunch of people,
- 44:24Speaker 1: is they get below that cap number. All you have
- 44:26Speaker 1: to do is get below the cap number before a
- 44:30Speaker 1: certain date. Let's call it March first. Let's just say
- 44:33Speaker 1: it's March first.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Once you get.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Below that, now the cap for that year really doesn't matter.
- 44:37Speaker 1: If you're a team that thinks they can win and
- 44:39Speaker 1: actually has the liquidity to go and get those players,
- 44:42Speaker 1: you can take your top three guys, turn their their
- 44:47Speaker 1: money for that year into a signing bonus, and once
- 44:50Speaker 1: you do that, you've cleared up a shitloaded cap.
- 44:52Speaker 6: So here's here's a good question, which would be which
- 44:54Speaker 6: would be a good example? You rowed what fourteen points
- 44:57Speaker 6: something against the cap this year and they're like, oh,
- 44:58Speaker 6: they freed up fourteen million. If in this example they
- 45:01Speaker 6: would have taken that fourteen million and put into a
- 45:03Speaker 6: signing bonus, they would have cleared that same sort of clear.
- 45:07Speaker 1: They would be able to do the fourteen million they
- 45:08Speaker 1: do like thirteen point five. And then because if I
- 45:10Speaker 1: was owed fourteen point five, then I make a million
- 45:12Speaker 1: dollars that year. So Mike, you can only be a
- 45:15Speaker 1: million to the I would be a million. And now
- 45:17Speaker 1: there are some some smaller things like it wouldn't be
- 45:20Speaker 1: a million, my dead cap would now be higher. So really,
- 45:23Speaker 1: when you're transitioning that, when you're taking restructuring someone's deal
- 45:27Speaker 1: to this is their salary. We're taking their salary. We're
- 45:30Speaker 1: putting it into a signing bonus. When you do that,
- 45:33Speaker 1: you're you're basically pushing your problem down the road. You're saying, Hey,
- 45:36Speaker 1: a couple of years, we're gonna have to.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Deal with this.
- 45:37Speaker 1: That's an issue, but we can win now. Then we
- 45:39Speaker 1: have an owner that has the ability to shekel out
- 45:42Speaker 1: these this kind of money because they're cash heavy. Because
- 45:44Speaker 1: they're cash heavy, there are teams. People who own these
- 45:47Speaker 1: teams obviously are extremely wealthy individuals. Some of these people
- 45:50Speaker 1: who own teams, the NFL is their main main source
- 45:53Speaker 1: of income, Like that's like their main source. Other people
- 45:56Speaker 1: have other money and they're able to acquire buy from
- 45:59Speaker 1: the jack is A is a perfect example of this
- 46:02Speaker 1: kind of guy you always see, Like back in like
- 46:04Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, sixteen seventeen, when the Jags were like kind
- 46:07Speaker 1: of like hey shit, they went to the AFC Championship.
- 46:09Speaker 1: They were kind of doing something. They were Saxonville. You'd
- 46:12Speaker 1: see guys just getting signed over and over forty five
- 46:14Speaker 1: fifty million dollars deal, sixty million dollar deals, and like,
- 46:17Speaker 1: how the fuck has it happened. It's because buddy's got
- 46:19Speaker 1: bags and so he knows you can put it into
- 46:21Speaker 1: a signing bonus. Movies, guys, you to a guy like
- 46:23Speaker 1: Kalais Campbell, who you know is a stud for you.
- 46:25Speaker 1: He knows he's gonna produce that year. Okay, go ahead
- 46:28Speaker 1: and put that into a signing bonus. He's gonna make
- 46:30Speaker 1: a million, and then we can go sign this dude,
- 46:31Speaker 1: this dude, and this dude. Imagine if they had Doug
- 46:33Speaker 1: Peterson back them. Holy shit, right, I think they other
- 46:37Speaker 1: than them. But anyway, there is a lot of things
- 46:42Speaker 1: you can do to manipulate the cap. It doesn't make
- 46:44Speaker 1: all your problems go away, go away, but it does
- 46:48Speaker 1: take away those problems. Now like a short term we're
- 46:50Speaker 1: trying to win a Super Bowl. We're a couple of
- 46:51Speaker 1: pieces away. We need some big names, some big talent
- 46:54Speaker 1: in here. That's when you can go and get a
- 46:56Speaker 1: couple of guys free up some cap, like like the Bills,
- 46:59Speaker 1: for example. I don't know who their owner is, I
- 47:01Speaker 1: don't know how cash heavy they are, but they're a
- 47:03Speaker 1: close team. I don't know how far they are away
- 47:05Speaker 1: from the cap either, but they can easily take josh
- 47:07Speaker 1: Allen's contract restructure.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Half of that. What's he making forty five million dollars?
- 47:12Speaker 1: Okay, so now it's at twenty five million dollars and
- 47:14Speaker 1: he's making He's gonna he has a twenty five million
- 47:17Speaker 1: dollars signing. About us he makes twenty million dollars a year,
- 47:19Speaker 1: but that other twenty Now you can go inside other
- 47:22Speaker 1: guys and then push that problem back, push that problem
- 47:25Speaker 1: a couple a couple of years back, because the dead
- 47:26Speaker 1: CAP's gonna get it's gonna go farther and farther down
- 47:28Speaker 1: the road. And the issues that run into that are
- 47:30Speaker 1: guys that get older. Let's say Joshua's into situation like
- 47:33Speaker 1: I did, where he has a couple of years of
- 47:34Speaker 1: injuries on the field as much he's out there, he's
- 47:36Speaker 1: doing great, but do we know if he's really gonna
- 47:38Speaker 1: be out there the whole season? And then you look
- 47:40Speaker 1: at his dead cap, and his dead caps at thirty
- 47:42Speaker 1: five million dollars a month's like, oh fuck, we can't
- 47:45Speaker 1: cut that because that just kills everything.
- 47:47Speaker 6: So, talking to another reliable source about the Lamar Jackson
- 47:51Speaker 6: stuff out, the question was, why don't you think you know,
- 47:55Speaker 6: why do you think teams are publicly saying this and that?
- 47:57Speaker 6: Are like, why are teams does it seem like they're
- 47:59Speaker 6: not going to pay Lamar not not going to pay,
- 48:02Speaker 6: but why is it such a big story? And his
- 48:06Speaker 6: response was that it's he feels like a lot of
- 48:08Speaker 6: teams there's a it's like there's a reminder of a
- 48:10Speaker 6: few years back when the NBA started to make those
- 48:12Speaker 6: massive jumps and contracts. The same kind of things happening
- 48:15Speaker 6: with some quarterbacks over the last couple of years, and
- 48:18Speaker 6: you see a lot of these teams that have done that.
- 48:22Speaker 6: Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, uh, Deshaunhason, Yeah, but not Mahomes.
- 48:27Speaker 6: There's also another one, Josh Allen. Josh Allen was up there,
- 48:31Speaker 6: but there was like a top four Russell Wilson, was
- 48:37Speaker 6: it Russell, Yeah, Russ Russell, yeah, Russell. So let's say
- 48:40Speaker 6: Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers. And the
- 48:46Speaker 6: response on top of that was a lot of those
- 48:49Speaker 6: teams now that did those heavy deals for quarterbacks, they're
- 48:52Speaker 6: now trying to actually get out of them and reneuver
- 48:54Speaker 6: their way around around them because they haven't worked out
- 48:58Speaker 6: in the short term as much as they had hoped.
- 49:00Speaker 6: So a lot of teams are probably sitting back like, yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 6: the market that Lamar and all these guys are arguing for,
- 49:05Speaker 6: that market's there because it's been established. But a lot
- 49:08Speaker 6: of probably ownership or lead in those leadership groups that
- 49:10Speaker 6: are paying this money are probably looking at like, hang
- 49:12Speaker 6: on that we gotta we gotta try to realist in
- 49:14Speaker 6: because we're seeing it with these other teams, like Deshaun
- 49:17Speaker 6: Watson's trying to or is looking at possibly restructuring his deal.
- 49:20Speaker 6: The Packers are in hell with Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson.
- 49:23Speaker 6: We saw how that's played out, Kyler Murray. We see
- 49:26Speaker 6: how that's playing out when when they were hiring the
- 49:28Speaker 6: next head coach. So a lot of teams are like
- 49:30Speaker 6: taking this. I feel like into account. I'll be like, hey,
- 49:32Speaker 6: before we go into this. And again, Lamar, he was
- 49:36Speaker 6: injured this year and he did the right thing, not
- 49:38Speaker 6: playing that's the he made the right move. But again
- 49:40Speaker 6: that's also gonna be used as leverage. This is why
- 49:43Speaker 6: this whole thing's a battle right now. Both sides are
- 49:45Speaker 6: kind of doing the right thing and letting the world,
- 49:47Speaker 6: I guess, freak out about it. But I think it's
- 49:50Speaker 6: a little bit more controlled behind the scenes than what
- 49:52Speaker 6: it seems like in the in the media.
- 49:54Speaker 1: And it goes back to the tactical strategies that people
- 49:56Speaker 1: are doing, Like teams will do strategic things and players
- 50:00Speaker 1: will do strategic things, and then everyone's kind of playing
- 50:03Speaker 1: that game of chess that we always talk about. Yeah,
- 50:05Speaker 1: like they're both trying to Lamar's like, great, I get
- 50:06Speaker 1: to go see what everybody else wants. Lamar might get
- 50:08Speaker 1: there in a couple of days when free agency starts
- 50:10Speaker 1: and be like cluck, dude, this is not what I
- 50:12Speaker 1: thought it would be. Or it might be the exact opposite.
- 50:14Speaker 1: He might go to a Commanders or something like that.
- 50:15Speaker 1: He might go to a different team, but the Ravens
- 50:18Speaker 1: are sitting there and they're like, this is our best part,
- 50:20Speaker 1: this is our best chess piece to move right now,
- 50:23Speaker 1: to show that he's not worth what he.
- 50:24Speaker 7: Thinks he's worth, right, Yeah, on his On the topic
- 50:28Speaker 7: of him, since what's the franchise tag? They put him
- 50:32Speaker 7: on non exclusive exclusive, so another team would have to
- 50:35Speaker 7: give up two first round picks or or they've offered
- 50:40Speaker 7: So do they get to pick which years they give
- 50:44Speaker 7: up those first round picks?
- 50:45Speaker 2: I'm not sure that it's a good question. That's a
- 50:47Speaker 2: really good question. Yeah, I'm not sure. What if it's like, yeah,
- 50:49Speaker 2: I'll give you one this year and one in ten years. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:55Speaker 2: if that is, if you're able to do this, probably.
- 50:57Speaker 1: A cap and which team picks good question in particular.
- 51:00Speaker 2: I can't Yeah, it's a great question for zig.
- 51:02Speaker 6: I can't wait for one day because I think we're
- 51:04Speaker 6: we will get Lamar Jackson on at some point.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that at all that one day. Well,
- 51:09Speaker 2: I heard on the radio.
- 51:10Speaker 6: I'm curious too how the whole approach has been without
- 51:13Speaker 6: an agent, because even guys who don't have agents, they
- 51:16Speaker 6: still get to use the NFLPA and probably consult.
- 51:18Speaker 2: With people I would assume and advisors of some kind
- 51:20Speaker 2: of hope happens.
- 51:22Speaker 6: But either way, I can't wait to just pick his
- 51:24Speaker 6: brain on how all this has went for him, especially posturing.
- 51:28Speaker 2: That way with him representing himself the last time.
- 51:31Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure this has only happened like a handful
- 51:33Speaker 7: of times in the NFL, and I'm I'm probably wrong,
- 51:36Speaker 7: But the last time this happened, I think was l way.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Yeah, with just a situation. Yeah, the what is it?
- 51:45Speaker 2: Non restrictive free? Yeah, non exclusive for non exclusive tag.
- 51:49Speaker 2: I was gonna say the only thing I can.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Yeah, It's like Kirk, he had the exclusive franchise tag,
- 51:53Speaker 6: so he was like under contract. He wanted to get
- 51:55Speaker 6: paid before the first franchise tag, they would franchise tag them.
- 51:58Speaker 2: The second one.
- 51:59Speaker 6: He want to try and work out a deal. They wouldn't,
- 52:01Speaker 6: So we got the transitional tag or whatever it's called.
- 52:05Speaker 6: There's like two or three tags.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Imagine if the Commanders had Kirk right now, though I know,
- 52:08Speaker 1: maybe sitting so much more pretty. Yeah, because he's panned out,
- 52:11Speaker 1: he's he's he's done it. Yeah, there's a lot of
- 52:13Speaker 1: knocks on him. Hey, he can't win a primetime game
- 52:16Speaker 1: all that shit. It's like he's still a stud and
- 52:18Speaker 1: he can rip it. Yeah, and he talks about that.
- 52:20Speaker 1: That's what that's what it'll be good for about it. Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 1: I can't wait for you guys to listen to that.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Let's do let's do tear talk, because tear talk is
- 52:27Speaker 1: so like personal base. We're gonna designate to one person.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I believe that person is gonna be Garrett. Garrett is
- 52:32Speaker 1: gonna do the tear talk this week. So you will
- 52:34Speaker 1: see me, you will see Will, and you will see
- 52:36Speaker 1: Garrett do that all right. Took a quick break. Took
- 52:39Speaker 1: a quick break from this episode to do a little
- 52:44Speaker 1: homework on TikTok. Garrett was ready, I was ready, but
- 52:46Speaker 1: obviously Will showed up a little on time, so we
- 52:49Speaker 1: didn't have time to uh break everything down. We will
- 52:52Speaker 1: now start with Garrett. Garrett, what do you go for
- 52:55Speaker 1: your tear talk?
- 52:56Speaker 2: We gotta get done to three? Should we do with
- 53:00Speaker 2: top five?
- 53:00Speaker 6: Five?
- 53:03Speaker 2: Hey, well we'll go first my three and then y'all
- 53:05Speaker 2: can do is minichi you want? All right? All right?
- 53:08Speaker 7: So best albums these are ones that were just at
- 53:13Speaker 7: a pivotal moment. I feel like in my life, middle.
- 53:16Speaker 1: School, high school, exactly is everybody's pivotal moments of their life.
- 53:20Speaker 7: So Tier three is gonna be Kid Cutty's Man on
- 53:22Speaker 7: the Moon. The first one, it was electric when it
- 53:25Speaker 7: first came electric. Tier two is gonna be mechanical bull
- 53:31Speaker 7: Kings of Leon. That one came at the end of
- 53:34Speaker 7: that came actually fourteen, my first yeah in college, right
- 53:38Speaker 7: at the beginning. It's got the feels, it's got the rock,
- 53:42Speaker 7: it's phenomenal. Tier one keeping it in the family. Only
- 53:46Speaker 7: by the Night Kings of Leon. That was when I
- 53:48Speaker 7: started driving in high school and also partaking an extra
- 53:52Speaker 7: curricular shout out to the fucking Turtle Clan.
- 53:55Speaker 2: That was.
- 53:58Speaker 7: That was our crew in high school. Little back, full
- 54:00Speaker 7: backstory on on Turtle Clan. When they were building neighborhoods
- 54:04Speaker 7: in Brentwood, we hit a little dry spot, so only
- 54:08Speaker 7: the roads were paved, no houses were going up.
- 54:10Speaker 2: For a long time.
- 54:11Speaker 7: We would go to the back farthest back could de
- 54:15Speaker 7: sac and just chill, get high, yes, and drink and
- 54:19Speaker 7: drink and listen to Only by the Night. I bet
- 54:22Speaker 7: it was the fucking spot. And that's that album is incredible.
- 54:26Speaker 7: It's got There's an inside joke between Jack and I
- 54:29Speaker 7: that when you're hungover, take a shower in the dark
- 54:33Speaker 7: and listen to Cold Desert and you.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Will wake up a new man. Oh I love that.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, if we're go, if we're running back on
- 54:40Speaker 1: this little stories. The song I walked out to was
- 54:43Speaker 1: a song from Mechanical Bull Awesome. I wasn't super Soaker,
- 54:46Speaker 1: it was I was running through the desert. I was
- 54:48Speaker 1: in it.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Rock City Bro.
- 54:50Speaker 1: When I got drafted, we had like walk up songs,
- 54:52Speaker 1: and that's the song I came out to. That's how
- 54:53Speaker 1: I met Jared.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Well So twenty fifteen, when they did the New Year's
- 54:59Speaker 2: Eve here.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Bang, it was I was at that. Yeah, so I
- 55:02Speaker 1: was gonna say that was right when you got me
- 55:03Speaker 1: and the girl I was dating, we got a big fight.
- 55:05Speaker 1: I actually missed the concert.
- 55:06Speaker 2: It was yeah, those are my three man.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I was running through the desert. I was looking for drugs,
- 55:15Speaker 1: and I was searching for one word, thank you addiction, Yes, all.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Right, will you want me to go? You want to go?
- 55:26Speaker 2: They're not going back there, but they would have everyone
- 55:30Speaker 2: I can't. I was gonna give you one word, though,
- 55:32Speaker 2: rock and.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Passion that you should have saved that from me. I'm
- 55:43Speaker 1: about to be off and my ship in the second.
- 55:46Speaker 1: I mean, I can go, I'll go, you all go.
- 55:48Speaker 2: You seem not confident yet. No, no, I'm ready. I'm ready.
- 55:58Speaker 6: My Tier seven bro, alright, alright, not that not that many,
- 56:07Speaker 6: but I do want to. I do want to give
- 56:09Speaker 6: shout outs to zz top Eliminator. That's sharp dressed, man,
- 56:12Speaker 6: that's give me all your loving and also back in
- 56:15Speaker 6: Black ac DC nineteen eighty. We're talking Hell's bells Back
- 56:18Speaker 6: in Black obviously, But dude, I think what's what I
- 56:22Speaker 6: was trying to look for in the ac DC albums
- 56:23Speaker 6: because I'm like, man, hopefully they're all like, you know, kind.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Of in like a you know, a c d c's
- 56:26Speaker 2: Greatest Hits.
- 56:27Speaker 6: But dude, my dad and I went to a a
- 56:29Speaker 6: c DC concert one time and they there's nothing but
- 56:33Speaker 6: fucking hits from ac DC. Bro, nothing but hits. Yeah,
- 56:37Speaker 6: I'm not shitting you, brother.
- 56:39Speaker 1: No, I'm with you on a and I'm with you.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I saw Jack changes glasses so.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Laughing at that.
- 56:45Speaker 4: All right?
- 56:45Speaker 6: My uh so that's you know, that's shout out to
- 56:47Speaker 6: the boys. But my Tier five it's gonna be h Drake,
- 56:51Speaker 6: take care. Hell Yeah, fucking right shot for me, Marvin'
- 56:55Speaker 6: droom dude, Marn's rooms up banging twenty eleven. When we're
- 56:59Speaker 6: in college, bro, like you know the cultures in it,
- 57:01Speaker 6: Like we're vibing to Drake, Yeah, vibe Drake just on
- 57:09Speaker 6: the outside looking in, you know what, No, no, no, okay,
- 57:12Speaker 6: I gotta switch a couple my going off that same
- 57:15Speaker 6: vibe like in college the Carter three low Wayne, Yeah,
- 57:21Speaker 6: senior of high school, your year old Yeah, wait right, Yeah,
- 57:25Speaker 6: Lollipop was a fucking jam. I think everybody wanted to
- 57:31Speaker 6: sound cool on the whole late text when he did
- 57:33Speaker 6: the whole Yeah, you don't want that late text?
- 57:36Speaker 2: Better where better wear a late text?
- 57:38Speaker 6: Is you don't want that late text that I think
- 57:40Speaker 6: I'm late text, Like everyone tried dropping that lyric thinking
- 57:43Speaker 6: like yo, you know I listened to that Lollipop Yeah,
- 57:45Speaker 6: just captures on Milly like mister and missus Carter all bangers,
- 57:49Speaker 6: my Tier three. And here's where I gotta get in
- 57:52Speaker 6: and talk about albums that like I've like that you
- 57:56Speaker 6: listen to that, like probably you listen to the most
- 58:00Speaker 6: on repeat, and then also like something I really dove
- 58:04Speaker 6: into and like felt and like yo, this shit low
- 58:07Speaker 6: key like changes me. My Tier three is gonna be
- 58:13Speaker 6: Nickelback all the right reasons. You got photograph animals saving
- 58:17Speaker 6: me rock star, and if everyone cared like Nickelback, I
- 58:20Speaker 6: know that might get some Hayden and backlash, but Nickelback
- 58:23Speaker 6: bro first concert I went to is Nickelback old man,
- 58:25Speaker 6: Maybe go to Aerosmith with them with him, but willingly
- 58:28Speaker 6: wanted to.
- 58:29Speaker 2: Go to Nickelback. I feel like Nickelback was a fucking banger.
- 58:32Speaker 6: Fortune we got to interview them when we had them
- 58:34Speaker 6: on and I got to give them their flowers and
- 58:36Speaker 6: felt good doing it, but was longer.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Yeah not out, Yeah, it's not out.
- 58:40Speaker 6: It's coming out next to Yeah, and then obviously the
- 58:42Speaker 6: earlier album How You Remind Me. I wish that one
- 58:44Speaker 6: was on there too, but Nickelback when that thing was out.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Fire. My Tier two is gonna go to.
- 58:53Speaker 6: NF therapy session, and that's got several oppums, and there
- 58:56Speaker 6: might be a lot of people out there that don't
- 58:57Speaker 6: are arnest privy to the NF wave andF has mansions
- 59:01Speaker 6: therapy session search the search perception of Fire artist. This
- 59:07Speaker 6: is like I got on Eminem shout out Adam Hayward.
- 59:10Speaker 6: Adam Hayward was a teammate of mine named Washington in
- 59:13Speaker 6: two thousand and fourteen, and he put me on NF.
- 59:16Speaker 6: His first album then at that point was Mansion. And
- 59:19Speaker 6: NF is somebody who is like, literally album after album
- 59:25Speaker 6: can go and continue to dig deep down and all
- 59:29Speaker 6: those emotions that he had because he's big into therapy
- 59:32Speaker 6: in his mind and everything else, and somebody who like
- 59:34Speaker 6: goes into the basement and can truly storytell and put
- 59:37Speaker 6: things together.
- 59:38Speaker 2: And all of his albums call back to each other.
- 59:41Speaker 6: It's like, it's like it's genius that, like I, every
- 59:45Speaker 6: time he drops something, I listened to his album in
- 59:47Speaker 6: sequence because it's like truly a story that I love
- 59:50Speaker 6: to listen to his album's in sequence. But he's been
- 59:53Speaker 6: there in so many pivotal points of my life too,
- 59:55Speaker 6: like in Washington, Charro, like when I was finding my
- 59:59Speaker 6: wife and Charro, what's a when my mom passed away?
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: He was somebody he has stuff that again he's able
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: to dig in the basement and relate to you on
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: such a crazy level. But Tier two NF my Tier
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: one salute to the fucking king eminem Bro curtain call,
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: he said, oh, curtain Call, the way I Am, lose yourself, Mockingbird?
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: What else do I have on your sing for the moment?
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: Stand without Me? All bangers, all bangers?
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: You want to do?
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Eminem show fire his LPs fire. But my favorite Eminem
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: album is uh yeah, curtain Call. That is my tier talk.
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: I wish I could do more. Music is so fucking hard, bro, music.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: Is so hard.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Also on the NF dude, how could you leave? First
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: time you heard that song?
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: You're not crying? Absolutely?
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Yeah, the first time I heard that song, I bawled
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: my fucking eyes out, Yeah, in the car by myself.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: It's incredible.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: It's incredible how he can and again he does and
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: cuss doesn't say, you know, doesn't do all that stuff
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: that it takes so like a lot of rappers do,
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: he does it on such a level and speaks to
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: your fucking soul.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Yeah, speaks to your fucking soul. And he's known, he
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: was labeled, I know at one point.
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: I don't know if he stills by I'm pretty sure,
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: but like a Christian rapper, yeah, but throw that ship
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: out the window.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: It ain't that this is like it is like an
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Eminem type vibe.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Just flow, heat slow, he can sing.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: It's nuts, Bro, it's nice. He's he is a artist.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: That was incredible. Thank you. I was sweating like trying.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: To brother, like, oh, one word, incredible, hype, impact, a lot.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: White that needed to be said, Bro, that needed to
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: be said. List is gonna come out there. That's gonna
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: you know, it's gonna be fun.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Hey, I'll tell you what. You should have saved both
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: of those for mine because we're about to take a
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: little ride from two thousand and one to two thousand
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: and five right now. Yeah yeah, yeah, so boys, we're
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: to get a ride down memory lane. I would I
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: do have two honorable mentions in this situation. I gotta
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: give flowers to a band that got me back into
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: country music. I thought country music for a while I
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: was getting a little too beaty, a little too much
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: of this listener is that they've been on the podcast
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: a few times. I gotta give it to Middland on
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: the Rocks when they came out all like drinking problems,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I got to pull it up because they have so
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: many hitters.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I'm just so bro.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Listen to this on the Rocks lonely for you make
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: a little drinking problems. At least you cried burnout out
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: of sight more than a fever. Bro. This like this album.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: When I popped it on, I immediately called my buddy
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Nick Benne Is like, buddy, how do you feel about
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: new country music? I fucking hated it. Nick's had a
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: lot of opinions when it comes to country music. I
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: had him throw this song. He called me an hour
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: and a half later he goes, you were right, They're
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: fucking incredible. So that is one of my honorable mentions.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: My second honorable mention spoiler alert. It's gonna go to
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Blink one eight to two, And the only reason why
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: it's not in my top three is because I already
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: got it. I already got a Blink one it in there,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and I want to have a little more of a deal.
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: Two.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Take off your Pants and Jacket?
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: Bro.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: First off, I was like twenty seven when I figured
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: out that take off your pants and jacket?
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: Did you get that?
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Because I remember looking at the album and it's black
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: and has like little colors and it's like literally a
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: pant and jacket and it's like a plane, and I'm like, bro, yeah,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: that's a cool logo.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: I guess. But I'm.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Ten, so I'm like, I don't fucking know, dude, Anthem
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: part two. When that song just starts on the album,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: You're like, I know I'm in for an online song
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: first date. That music video is a fucking hitter, and
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: then you get to switch it up to Happy Holidays,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: you bastard. It's like a little split in between the
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: music for a little fun bullshit, the rock show, roller Coaster, Reckless, abandon,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: shut up, give me, give me one good reason, dude.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: It is so fucking all time that that is it.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: That is it now, That's that's all I have for that.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Those are my honorall mentions, my Tier three. Not everyone's
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: gonna see eye out of this. For me, when I
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: think of my favorite albums of all time, it's what
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: album can I put on and know every single word
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: to every single track and sing every single every single song,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: no problem? And that this Tier three to me, don't
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: know why it's such a banger Panic at the disco
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: a fever. You can't sweat out all of those songs, dude.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: The vocabulary that motherfucker has, how he rips and flows
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: and then it changes beats and all of a sudden
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: he uses intricate, like fucking violins and shit like violins
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: and like an orchestra type stuff. And at the same
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: time he's just putting heat down over and over and
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: over again. So that is my Tier three. My Tier
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: two once again is going to go back to a
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: time in my life when I was living on the ranch.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: This song, this album came out. We actually brought up
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: on the Midland podcast and they're very disrespectful to it
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: is big and rich, a horse of a different color,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: very unique, interesting blend of country music that a lot
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: of people are probably against, but for me, it's just
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: one of those I remember sitting in my mom's trucks.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: She had an f Red F one fifty. It was
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: stick shift, and we'd always go to this place called
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Cokomo Joe's. I would call it Tiki Taylor's. I just
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: thought that was like a fun little bit I was
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: doing when I was thirteen, fourteen years old, and we
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: would listen to that, back and forth, back and forth
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: like where we eight every day for like a summer,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: and for me, I was like, bro I still put
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: that on. I remember like going back to the ranch,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: chasing down goes, trying to learn how to rope and
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: do a whole bunch of fun shit. So that's like
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: a level of nostalgia for me that I had to
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: get into my tear talk and obviously my Tier one
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: gotta go back to the greatest band of all time.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: We know who I'm talking about, because I've already mentioned him.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: It's Blake one A two their self titled album Blake
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: A two from two thousand and three. Let me just
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: give you a couple songs on here feeling this? Are
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: you fucking kidding me?
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: I miss you? All right?
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Does he say ahead? Does he say ed? We don't
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: fucking know? Stockholm syndrome? Down, go, dude, It's always easy
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: target like they this album I put on. Dude, shout
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: out Alex Macsudian, the emo girl I was into in
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: middle school.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Dude. We would get off the bus.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: She'd have her hair covering up her left eye and
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I had the biggest little bit of thick girl too. Now,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: all right, she didn't have like a body on her
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: or anything, but for whatever reason, Alex max shudey and
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I was like the love of my life at twelve
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: thirteen years old. One day I asked her out. She said, yes,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I was like, holy fuck, boys, we've made it. I'm
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: playing all there's already wedding bells going on in my head.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Four days later, I go to her house. I haven't
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: heard from her in four days. By the way, she
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: wasn't answering my aim, so I was like, oh fuck.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: I go to her house call her. She comes over
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: the back of her wall in her backyard and hands
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: me a letter. It's ripped out of a notebook. It's
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: got lipstick kiss on it, and it's a breakup letter
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: of why she can't be with me. We didn't talk
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: for the four days we were dating, but your boy
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: took it harder than anybody could possibly take it. I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: put this album on and it saved me. Bro who
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: knews where I would have been if it wasn't for
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: Blank within an AA two's Blank within a two from
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: two thousand and three. Incredible, incredible album. We just took
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: a little ride back, and that is my tear talk
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: would you say from mine? Incredible?
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Damn?
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: This was gonna say for yours, but but ours are
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: so different, so different, I know, but that's what I
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: love about this. And she was like, man, I could
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: have put those in mind. I remember the Carter three. Yeah,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: and again you're saying stuff again. It's speaking to just
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: a different It's like all the different phases of your life.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Man. And you talked about a breakup.
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: Like remember usher, bro Oh yeah, dude, Like there's so
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: many there's so much good music. And then and then
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: when you're talking about panic at the disco for whatever reason,
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: they're very different. But I started even thinking about Lincoln Park.
- 1:07:35Speaker 6: Remember when Lincoln Park was hot back then?
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Bro, here we go for the one hundred time hand
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: grenat pins and every line.
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: You're definitely somebody like uh zero albums. I've said, do
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: I know every song every word? Like you're somebody who
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: can I feel like pick up lyrics like mine.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: My brother Cody was always really good at that. He
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: always knew every fucking lyric, and I can never pick
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: that ship up.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: You know, Chris Arnold, he could listen to a song
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: one hundred times and he'll never get it, Like he'll
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: get one out of seven words, but he'll sing it
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: like he knows it.
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: I'll get like a few phrases in each song, yeah
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: what I mean? And I will I will continue to
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: sing it.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: I'll just not get it.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Right, masterpiece, we play masterpiece if we sing that song,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I look at you and you're just kind of mumbling
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: in the corner to yourself.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Hitting it. Pivotal, that's my word. Pivotal hyphenated good time.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: It's gonna come as a shot, but predictable, that's okay, blank.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: High faded as well, monster energy.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: For real, dude, I thought that that was far. That

- 1:12:56Speaker 1: we're gonna do a branking and talked about missing through
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: a toilet and shitting and.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Then it's gonna go on the back side of Kirk. Yeah,
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: that's so funny.

- 1:13:24Speaker 1: spring tour tickets South Carolina and Texas, they're on sale.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: They are on sale right now, and they're going fast.
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: They're going fast, fast, at a snail's pace, the fastest
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: snailing the fuck.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: The only thing you need to know is tickets are
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: being bought. Yeah, tickets are being tickets. Don't wait too long, dude.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: This is a classic tortoise and a hair situation.
- 1:13:43Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, were they one ticket at a time? Keep
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: stacking the tickets, dude, Yeah, keep stacking a ticket.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: At a time.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, And dude, shut out in Nashville, Bro, you fucking
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: got our heads a little big with anies. Yeah, it's
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: gonna be a hell of a time. I don't care
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: if there's six people and there's still them, no question.
- 1:13:59Speaker 6: If there's fifty there, yeah we're it's gonna be the
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: greatest time in the fucking world world. Yeah, but anyway,
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: go go cop those Enjoy the Kirk Cousins episode by.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: The merch Subscribe unsubscribed to subscribe. Three hundreds happened. We
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: achieve one goal. Let's go to the next four hundred.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: K here we fucking come everywhere.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: We're rolling right the one. We're good.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Make sure when you when you talk, you have the
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: microphone up to your mouth. And Kirk he said that
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: his kid, his oldest kid, is extremely smart, but he's
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: not gonna be Michael Jordan, how does that make you feel?
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Would you rather your kid be smarter?
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 1:14:35Speaker 9: I feel like I've played enough sports for several generations,
- 1:14:39Speaker 9: so I'm good. What I would a nice, nice comment,
- 1:14:44Speaker 9: But I would like to I would like to, uh
- 1:14:48Speaker 9: see my kids do well in school. So that's what
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: we're set up. Well there, dude, on that note, you
- 1:14:54Speaker 9: are like.
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: One of the trail brick blazers. I feel like for
- 1:14:58Speaker 6: getting guaranteed contrasts. I've tried talking about it. I mean,
- 1:15:03Speaker 6: I've talked about it several times about how you went
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: about doing it, But can you walk everybody through how
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: you put yourself in that situation to get the Was
- 1:15:12Speaker 6: it the first fully guaranteed yeah?
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Back contrack that big, I think.
- 1:15:16Speaker 9: So I don't know quite going back, I don't quite
- 1:15:19Speaker 9: know all the history, but it was one hundred percent
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: my agent. I remember sitting at the Super Bowl after
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: my rookie year and Joe Flacco was about to be
- 1:15:29Speaker 9: a free agent, and he was also about to quarterback
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: in the Super Bowl, and we sat there. I knew
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: nothing about contracts, and my agent said, what the Ravens
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: are going to be able to do is either sign
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: him to a long term deal or they're going to
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: have to franchise tag him twice. And so the entire
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: negotiation will be based off of two franchise tags and
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: what those two franchise tags are worth, and that's what
- 1:15:48Speaker 9: they'll have to negotiate off of.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: And so I didn't know.
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: Four years later I'd be in a similar spot where
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: I'd finish my season becoming to free agency, and my
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: agent just said, this is Joe Flackel all over again.
- 1:16:00Speaker 9: It's a two year franchise tag that'll be the foundation
- 1:16:04Speaker 9: of any negotiation. And he said, what I'd like to
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: do is, because I see those two years being basically guaranteed,
- 1:16:11Speaker 9: I'd like to just do a three year deal, fully guaranteed.
- 1:16:14Speaker 9: And he offered that to the team, and obviously they
- 1:16:16Speaker 9: were not interested in that model, and he just said, Okay,
- 1:16:20Speaker 9: then we'll do the two franchise tags and uh, you know,
- 1:16:24Speaker 9: two years from now. And I'm you know, simplifying it
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: a little bit, but he said, two years from now,
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: we'll go to Fregency and try to get that same deal,
- 1:16:31Speaker 9: a three year deal fully guaranteed.
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: And so that's literally what happened.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: I just watched my agent basically exercised what he had
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: spoken about Joe Flacco after my rookie year, did it
- 1:16:41Speaker 9: with me, kind of called his shot, if you will,
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: and watched the next five years unfold exactly the way
- 1:16:46Speaker 9: he said.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: And there's some risk involved in doing that and the market.
- 1:16:50Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, well, injuries certainly, but if you don't play well.
- 1:16:54Speaker 9: And I think I was in a great spot because
- 1:16:56Speaker 9: I had great players around me, great coaches around me
- 1:17:00Speaker 9: and was in a place where I felt I could
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: have success, I could be effective, and so I didn't
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: feel like I needed to just take a deal. I
- 1:17:07Speaker 9: think sometimes as a player, you take a deal because
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: you're concerned about maybe your play going down. And I thought, no,
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: I think I'm going to keep improving and I've got
- 1:17:16Speaker 9: great people around me, so I'm okay going year to year.
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: And certainly it worked out.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: When you were going through the process with your agent
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: telling you that was there ever a point of resistance
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: for you? We're just like you talked about, like, hey, listen,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: like what about if I get injured? Things you can't control, right,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: everyone has confidence in their ability to play, but sometimes
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: freak things happen on the field and there's nothing you
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: can do about it.
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: That's a great question. I think the short answer is no.
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: I was very comfortable with his plan and what he
- 1:17:46Speaker 9: was doing. I knew there was risk, but I also
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: felt like I had seen Tom Brady Terearor's ACL in
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: two thousand and eight, and he comes back and plays
- 1:17:54Speaker 9: another you know, decade plus. Yeah, you know, Carson Palmer's
- 1:17:58Speaker 9: done the same thing. I think twice torn his knee
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: and come back and play at a Pro Bowl level.
- 1:18:02Speaker 9: So I felt like, even with an injury, you can
- 1:18:05Speaker 9: come back at quarterback. I do think that the position
- 1:18:08Speaker 9: was unique. There are other positions where I don't think
- 1:18:11Speaker 9: you would want.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: To do what we did.
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: Now. I think what's cool about this is I got
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: to sit with you several times, like we were boys
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: on the skins and explain how it was important for
- 1:18:23Speaker 6: you to even to get to free agency because you
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: were thinking about that stuff ahead of time. I remember
- 1:18:27Speaker 6: sitting with you in a meeting and talking like whenever
- 1:18:29Speaker 6: the PA or anybody would talk about contracts in BacT,
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: what you need is somebody to get somebody higher you know,
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: and status to get to free agency so that way
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: they can start the domino effect for this stuff.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: And I know that was like a goal of yours
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: to do something like that.
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: Yeah, my agent had always said that no real great
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: player goes to the market. Teams don't let them leave
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: their building. And you know that's so common to just
- 1:18:55Speaker 9: take a good deal. I mean, I think it's smart.
- 1:18:57Speaker 9: Why need to go to the market if a team
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: is offering you a great deal that accomplishes what you're
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: trying to accomplish, but he did always say that somebody
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: going to the market is the only way you could
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: actually get guaranteed money more than just one or two years.
- 1:19:10Speaker 9: So that was part of why going to the market,
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: it was part of why I think my agent wanted
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: to get a fully guaranteed deal was, Hey, we did
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: all this to get to the market.
- 1:19:20Speaker 8: We're going to try to get this structure.
- 1:19:21Speaker 9: But you know, it wasn't a model that I think
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: a lot of people have tried to follow since then.
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: I think Deshaun Watson was was pretty much able to
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: be a free agent while still having a contract.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: It's just a unique situation. So yeah, he's probably the.
- 1:19:39Speaker 9: Other one who who was able to do it. But
- 1:19:41Speaker 9: I do think there, you know, I've been guys who
- 1:19:43Speaker 9: have benefited certainly from whenever another player goes to the market,
- 1:19:47Speaker 9: another player does something.
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: I think the whole league or all the players benefit
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: from that in some way.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Yeah, So if you have the model of fully guaranteed
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: contract and you're fully guaranteed, people are like that sounds amazing.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: I do think that people have not followed that, like why,
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: because it seems like that's.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: When I was I met Will, when I was kind
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: of going through my contract negotiations and he was already
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: we just met, and he's like, why don't you do
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: a fully guaranteed And I'm my brother like, I can't.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: I can't do that. Yeah, three weeks into our friendship,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: he's like, why don't you do a fully guaranteed And
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I was like, I don't think that's how the ship
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: works for men left tackle, because the way we've said
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: this on our ship before is, uh, quarterbacks, them big
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: time players need to be the ones to get the
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: fully guaranteed contract, so it becomes a normal thing, a
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: trickle down effect for everybody else, position by position.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: And so you go and do it.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: You're the unicorn, and we don't know the whole history,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: but it seems like you're the only guy that's done
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: fully guaranteed contracts and it's worked. The bank account is
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: really fantastic, and so why why do you think these
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: players are not following suit with that?
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: With that uh blueprint.
- 1:20:54Speaker 9: I think there's still pretty good contracts out there that
- 1:20:58Speaker 9: are hard to turn down, and I think that it's
- 1:21:00Speaker 9: still life changing, and I understand why they take the
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: way they do the deals they do. I don't think
- 1:21:06Speaker 9: you need to go to free agency. I think you
- 1:21:08Speaker 9: can still have a great contract and change your life,
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: your family's life. There's so much that again, it's you know,
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: it's hard to turn down something that's on the table
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: like that. I do remember when Matt Ryan was just
- 1:21:21Speaker 9: like a month after I signed my Phrasian contract in Minnesota,
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: Matt Ryan signed his five year extension and it was
- 1:21:28Speaker 9: the first three years were guaranteed, but there were two
- 1:21:30Speaker 9: more years on, so it wasn't a fully guaranteed deal.
- 1:21:32Speaker 9: And I texted my agent to say, so, it sounds like,
- 1:21:35Speaker 9: you know, the next quarterback wasn't going to follow our pattern,
- 1:21:39Speaker 9: like you're asking. And my agent texted back and he said, no,
- 1:21:42Speaker 9: actually the opposite. The three the first three years are
- 1:21:45Speaker 9: fully guaranteed, and it's for a lot more than what
- 1:21:48Speaker 9: you got.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: His point was like, he would never have gotten.
- 1:21:51Speaker 9: That structure of three years fully guaranteed at the number
- 1:21:54Speaker 9: he did unless you had done the deal you just
- 1:21:57Speaker 9: did a month or two ago. Now he did tack
- 1:22:00Speaker 9: two years on to make it more money in the
- 1:22:03Speaker 9: front end too, yeap, But he uh, you know, it
- 1:22:06Speaker 9: was it was still a favorable deal for him in
- 1:22:07Speaker 9: those first three years because so that's my point that
- 1:22:09Speaker 9: you kind of can build on the previous person each time.
- 1:22:12Speaker 9: And I've been kind of removed from it for a
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: while now because once I got to Minnesota and got
- 1:22:16Speaker 9: out of free agency, I was just kind of focused on,
- 1:22:19Speaker 9: you know, being there as long as I can, and
- 1:22:21Speaker 9: I even after I went to the playoffs in nineteen,
- 1:22:23Speaker 9: signed a two year extension that wasn't fully guaranteed as signing.
- 1:22:26Speaker 9: So for me, it's just kind of been trying to
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: you know, trying to win, trying to stay in Minnesota
- 1:22:31Speaker 9: and create a winning situation there.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: When you're talking about your agent telling you that franchises
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: don't let great players leave the area, there was there
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: a piece of you, or maybe some ego that was like, well,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: I don't want to be a guy that has to leave.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I value myself as a player. I am like, was
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: there ever a time where you were fighting with staying
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: with the then called the Redskins.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:22:53Speaker 9: No, you know, I think there's first of all, everybody's
- 1:22:56Speaker 9: in their own scenario. You know, I was a fourth
- 1:22:59Speaker 9: round pick, didn't really play a lot until my fourth year,
- 1:23:03Speaker 9: so I understand, like, you know, it's different than being
- 1:23:07Speaker 9: a first round pick who starts all four years. You know,
- 1:23:10Speaker 9: so I'm aware that you know, you can move on,
- 1:23:14Speaker 9: players move on.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: It happens.
- 1:23:15Speaker 9: I remember Greg Olsen is probably a great example of
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: a guy who to this day I always wonder like
- 1:23:19Speaker 9: why was he allowed to go to free agency and
- 1:23:21Speaker 9: leave and go to Carolina? But he was and he did,
- 1:23:23Speaker 9: And so it does sometimes happen, but it's it's uncommon,
- 1:23:28Speaker 9: you know. I remember Coach Cruden saying to me, like,
- 1:23:31Speaker 9: we'd love to draft a tackle at one point in
- 1:23:33Speaker 9: my time there, We'd love to draft a tackle, but
- 1:23:36Speaker 9: you know they're not They're not like you have to
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: draft one because great tackles are not available on free
- 1:23:42Speaker 9: agency typically because a team who has a.
- 1:23:44Speaker 8: Great tackle does not let them just walk out of
- 1:23:46Speaker 8: their building.
- 1:23:48Speaker 9: And so there's a few positions where it's like, man,
- 1:23:50Speaker 9: we'd love to sign that in free agency, but they
- 1:23:52Speaker 9: just don't exist. And uh, because guys do sign deals
- 1:23:55Speaker 9: before going to the market.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: Why don't you think you could have got something to
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: done with Washington?
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: You know what?
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: Really the message was from my agent was we want
- 1:24:04Speaker 9: to go to the market, and if Washington is the
- 1:24:07Speaker 9: best deal when you go to the market or the
- 1:24:10Speaker 9: best opportunity I should say, then let's go back to Washington.
- 1:24:13Speaker 9: That was my attitude. But where I was naive was
- 1:24:16Speaker 9: thinking that Washington would wait on me. And they were
- 1:24:19Speaker 9: smart because they said remember when Jay called me the
- 1:24:22Speaker 9: day after they traded for Alex Smith, he just said,
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: we couldn't wait on you. And I remember thinking, oh, yeah,
- 1:24:28Speaker 9: like that makes sense. You can't just you can't just
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: wait on me and then be left at the altar.
- 1:24:33Speaker 9: You were smart to go proactively get a quarterback and
- 1:24:36Speaker 9: have a plan, But the whole process for me was
- 1:24:40Speaker 9: I still think Washington is very much the best spot
- 1:24:42Speaker 9: for me. I would just like to go to the
- 1:24:44Speaker 9: market first and see what is out there, and then
- 1:24:48Speaker 9: if it's Washington, it's Washington. And I think that's the
- 1:24:51Speaker 9: thing that people don't maybe realize is when you're drafted
- 1:24:54Speaker 9: out of college, you're drafted, you're told what your contract is,
- 1:24:58Speaker 9: and then your friendanchise tagged or you sign an extension,
- 1:25:01Speaker 9: and no one ever really gets to pick their situation
- 1:25:05Speaker 9: or see what's out there for them or truly be
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: a free agent. So I just wanted to see that.
- 1:25:09Speaker 9: But if it's Washington, after looking around, then it's Washington.
- 1:25:12Speaker 9: I actually thought it probably could or would be. Yea,
- 1:25:15Speaker 9: they just said, we just can't wait on you, and
- 1:25:17Speaker 9: I thought, you know, you're right, that's smart.
- 1:25:18Speaker 8: You really can't.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: You know, wait.
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: Was there anything Washington could that could have done that
- 1:25:23Speaker 6: could have changed your messaging from we want to go
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: to the market, because you'd almost think like your messaging
- 1:25:28Speaker 6: is like, oh, we'd like to go to the market,
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: but if you're happy where you're at, you kind of
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: want to yeah, long term place or anything they could
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: have done that they didn't do.
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: I don't think so. I think that.
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: You know, when Sean McVay moved on, you know, that
- 1:25:40Speaker 9: was tough to see him go. There have been so
- 1:25:41Speaker 9: many good coaches there that had left.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Brother will talk about what you guys had in there,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: and it's just crazy, Hey, you guys.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I remember.
- 1:25:50Speaker 9: That was the huge blessing of being in Washington, in
- 1:25:54Speaker 9: addition to the players I got to play with, was
- 1:25:56Speaker 9: to look back and say, because you know how much
- 1:25:57Speaker 9: coaching matters in this league, to be able to say
- 1:25:59Speaker 9: I got coached by Mike Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan, Matt Lafleur,
- 1:26:04Speaker 9: Mike McDaniel, Sean McVay, Matt Cavanaugh, Jay Gruden, like, these
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: are the people in the quarterback room. And you know,
- 1:26:12Speaker 9: even Raheem Morris would come down the hall and sit
- 1:26:14Speaker 9: in in the quarterback room in OTAs when we would
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: stay extra and stuff. It was like really really and
- 1:26:19Speaker 9: I didn't know what at the time, which I wish
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: I did. I just thought this must be what every
- 1:26:23Speaker 9: quarterback room is like, and it isn't. And so to
- 1:26:27Speaker 9: get that foundation there was career changing for me.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Yeah, when when you left, when you left Washington in
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: the last few years, all the stuff that's come out
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: about the franchise, the owner, Like, were you aware of
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: any of that stuff going on at the time or
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: was it a complete like blindside for you?
- 1:26:46Speaker 9: Yeah, you saw me different stuff has come out and
- 1:26:48Speaker 9: I haven't followed that closely since I left, but uh yeah,
- 1:26:53Speaker 9: I at times. Their other thing is like reports, You're like,
- 1:26:56Speaker 9: well are these even true? I don't even know if
- 1:26:58Speaker 9: these are true?
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: So mainstream media media was I mean, you always felt
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: like there was a cloud out there no matter what.
- 1:27:04Speaker 9: You just shrugged your shoulders and you're just like, I
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: don't know the major media market, right, you were saying
- 1:27:08Speaker 9: when you came to the Titans, it's like a way different.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: It's a way different vibe. I think.
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: So I feel like to the big leagues, right, like
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: people come through there now you see them on TV
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: and everything else. But yeah, going to Tennessee and rack
- 1:27:19Speaker 6: put was like, hey, comp like, he's gonna be way
- 1:27:22Speaker 6: He's gonna be way different.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: It's way different hot and you just see a few
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: reporters standing.
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: I mean in DC, it's just like it feels like
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: it's just NonStop to where what's the contrast going to Minnesota.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: When you first started to see what was going on
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: in Minnesota with the media.
- 1:27:35Speaker 9: Yeah, it is a little different market in Minnesota. I
- 1:27:38Speaker 9: didn't mind the DC market. I thought that everybody was fair,
- 1:27:41Speaker 9: and I think that at times ignorance was bliss for
- 1:27:43Speaker 9: me and I just tried this to remove myself from
- 1:27:46Speaker 9: it as best I could.
- 1:27:47Speaker 8: But even going back to playing Washington.
- 1:27:49Speaker 9: This year and seeing some of the local, uh, you know,
- 1:27:52Speaker 9: day to day coverage of the team, seeing those guys
- 1:27:55Speaker 9: in the tunnel, you know, it's fun to catch up
- 1:27:57Speaker 9: with them and see them. But yeah, Minnesota is uh
- 1:28:00Speaker 9: they do a really good job there of really you know,
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: trying to get it right and to follow it. And
- 1:28:04Speaker 9: there's a like Washington, there's a historic franchise there, there's
- 1:28:08Speaker 9: a there's a fan base that goes back decades that
- 1:28:10Speaker 9: has followed the team closely. And I think that's huge.
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: You know, when we go play on the road at
- 1:28:16Speaker 9: Miami or even at Washington, like the Lower Bowl on
- 1:28:20Speaker 9: our sideline is mostly purple, and I think that's that's
- 1:28:23Speaker 9: not every team, and so that's huge to be able
- 1:28:25Speaker 9: to play for a team like that.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: That's yeah.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: So going to uh, going to Minnesota, you guys, there's
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: so much talent on that team. Is what is it
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: going to take for Minnesota to become true contenders in
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: the NFL?
- 1:28:40Speaker 9: Well, I think when you win thirteen games, you know
- 1:28:42Speaker 9: you're doing something right. So I do think we were
- 1:28:45Speaker 9: able to find the inches this past year, which the
- 1:28:47Speaker 9: previous year we were not. We felt we had a
- 1:28:49Speaker 9: really good football team in twenty twenty one and we
- 1:28:52Speaker 9: just were unable to find those inches. And in this league,
- 1:28:55Speaker 9: those inches kind of ore everything because we're all pretty good.
- 1:28:59Speaker 9: So we found them more on twenty twenty two to
- 1:29:00Speaker 9: get to thirteen wins. But if you kind of looked
- 1:29:03Speaker 9: behind the numbers, you could kind of see there were
- 1:29:05Speaker 9: some spots where we.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: Can be a lot better.
- 1:29:08Speaker 9: So, you know, and again, we have like a high
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: number of free agents this year, so you feel like
- 1:29:14Speaker 9: coming back for Otia's in April, that the locker room
- 1:29:16Speaker 9: will be a lot different. And I don't like that
- 1:29:19Speaker 9: feeling because I liked our group so much. So I'm
- 1:29:22Speaker 9: really hoping we can re sign as many of these
- 1:29:24Speaker 9: guys as possible and try to keep the group together
- 1:29:26Speaker 9: as best we can. But NFL stands for not for long,
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: so you know that it's always changing.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: What position group do you think like this is a
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: tough one because it's like there's gonna be guys they're
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: going to hear this that play these position groups where
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: we Do you think you were lacking on the offensive
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: side of the ball this year?
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Was it offensive line? Yeah?
- 1:29:44Speaker 9: I mean I would often say, like I go into
- 1:29:46Speaker 9: games and I don't feel like we are lacking the horses,
- 1:29:52Speaker 9: which is huge because I think there are quarterbacks who
- 1:29:55Speaker 9: break the huddle and they're like, man, we got limitations here.
- 1:29:59Speaker 9: I don't feel that, you know, I think more my
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: concern is like a lot of those guys that I
- 1:30:03Speaker 9: didn't feel we were lacking. Are free agents, you know,
- 1:30:06Speaker 9: Garrett Bradbers or free agent Alex Madison's are free agents.
- 1:30:08Speaker 9: So that's more of the challenges. Can we bring those
- 1:30:12Speaker 9: guys back? And I also think we were in year
- 1:30:14Speaker 9: one with our head coach, with our system. While there's
- 1:30:17Speaker 9: some similarities and carry over to every system, there were
- 1:30:19Speaker 9: also a lot that was new. So I do think
- 1:30:21Speaker 9: that to be in year two together as a group
- 1:30:25Speaker 9: would also really help take next steps to really feel like,
- 1:30:28Speaker 9: okay OTA's is not feeling like your rookie year all
- 1:30:31Speaker 9: over again, but feeling like y're two in this, in
- 1:30:34Speaker 9: this system, in this program.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: When you're with those guys being free agents, do you
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: is there a level of relationship you have with upstairs
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: where you can be like, hey, I want to keep
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: these guys around.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:42Speaker 9: I mean when you say that, I know the answer
- 1:30:44Speaker 9: back is so would we. Yeah, there's a salary cap
- 1:30:47Speaker 9: and there's uh, we.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Both know the salar caps not real.
- 1:30:51Speaker 9: It's a They definitely can can work through things to
- 1:30:55Speaker 9: push money out.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: But I think that.
- 1:31:00Speaker 9: Players I got we just started this conversation saying we'd
- 1:31:02Speaker 9: like to go to the market. I think there's value
- 1:31:03Speaker 9: in that. I think so is Carrit Bradbury and Alex
- 1:31:06Speaker 9: Mesin going to say that that, hey, we want to
- 1:31:08Speaker 9: go to the market too and see what's out there
- 1:31:10Speaker 9: and so and I you know, when I say to them,
- 1:31:13Speaker 9: I say, I want you back as a Viking, I
- 1:31:15Speaker 9: also want what's best for you and for your family
- 1:31:18Speaker 9: in this business. And and you understand that, and they
- 1:31:22Speaker 9: understand that, and so anyways, it's that's where I think
- 1:31:26Speaker 9: the NFL has succeeded as a business, is that they
- 1:31:29Speaker 9: make February interesting, they make March interesting, they make April interesting.
- 1:31:34Speaker 9: Like there's very few months of the year where you're like,
- 1:31:37Speaker 9: there's not something that's very followable about this league, and
- 1:31:40Speaker 9: somehow they've done that better than I think any other
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: sports league.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: It's a fine line between wanting guys to stick around
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: for the betterment of the team and for you and
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: also wanting them to get what they.
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: Deserve, right.
- 1:31:51Speaker 9: That is the difficult part of this business that I
- 1:31:55Speaker 9: dislike is that because it's not a true like free market,
- 1:31:59Speaker 9: there is a callery cap You had his dance of man,
- 1:32:03Speaker 9: I want I want them to be on our team
- 1:32:05Speaker 9: playing with us, But I also want what's best for them,
- 1:32:07Speaker 9: and you're like, ah, and so you do have to
- 1:32:09Speaker 9: treat it like a business and not take it personal
- 1:32:11Speaker 9: when a guy moves on because you know that that
- 1:32:13Speaker 9: was what was best for him.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: The character of chains, let's talk about that about it?
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: How did that get going? Yeah?
- 1:32:21Speaker 10: You and you embracing it getting shirtless on the plane,
- 1:32:24Speaker 10: or you're the guy with a sleepy six pack. Yeah,
- 1:32:27Speaker 10: and I'm sleepy that you don't really And for somebody
- 1:32:29Speaker 10: who boxed the glasses on, you're like, you're gonna, oh ship,
- 1:32:32Speaker 10: the dude's gotta wash.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: Going on a little bit too. I like that who
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: blocks out the noise? You know, he was kind of
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: taking that one in.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: He has he doesn't have notifications on a Twitter, but
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: that one.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's uh.
- 1:32:45Speaker 9: Started on the way back from London, Christian dearrisa. I
- 1:32:48Speaker 9: had just got in his chain with c d on
- 1:32:50Speaker 9: it with the spinner and and we we wanted London
- 1:32:54Speaker 9: on a double doint miss field goal by the same
- 1:32:57Speaker 9: you want to talk about finding the inches, Yeah, the
- 1:32:58Speaker 9: thing going south to side bar, off the crossbar and
- 1:33:01Speaker 9: back out towards the field. And so we got an
- 1:33:03Speaker 9: eight hour flight back to Minnesota and I hop on
- 1:33:06Speaker 9: the plane and it's like a nightclub. I mean, people
- 1:33:08Speaker 9: got boomboxes rocking. You know, guys got whatever they want.
- 1:33:12Speaker 9: They're just sitting on the no one's sitting. Everybody's kind
- 1:33:14Speaker 9: of standing in the aisles and kneeling on their chair
- 1:33:17Speaker 9: and stuff. And yeah, somewhere in that before we'd taken off,
- 1:33:20Speaker 9: I think we might even been delayed to take off.
- 1:33:22Speaker 9: So guys are just trying to you know, have fun
- 1:33:24Speaker 9: with the time. And his chain ends up on me,
- 1:33:27Speaker 9: and uh, well it's not as he just fell on you,
- 1:33:30Speaker 9: right like me, So on the way to London, sitting there.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: And like all just oriented, they grabbed you and held
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: you down, like put the cane on Kirk.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: Well, I'm kind of I'm kind of putting on CD
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: on blast year.
- 1:33:41Speaker 9: But on the way to London, I'm like, you know,
- 1:33:44Speaker 9: locked in, Like I got my my you know, light
- 1:33:46Speaker 9: glasses to block out the light. I'm trying to get adjusted.
- 1:33:48Speaker 9: I've I got my sleep, I know, like the rhythm
- 1:33:50Speaker 9: of like get your food. Then this time you go
- 1:33:52Speaker 9: down to sleep like I'm trying to be locked in. Yeah,
- 1:33:54Speaker 9: I lay down to sleep. I'm like twenty minutes of
- 1:33:57Speaker 9: sleep and behind me, someone's just like sawing logs and
- 1:34:01Speaker 9: I'm like, oh no, like I got like six hours
- 1:34:04Speaker 9: and I can't sleep.
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: I put on like headphones, I still hear him. It's CD,
- 1:34:09Speaker 8: like he's.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: Right behind me. And we finally land in London.
- 1:34:12Speaker 9: And Zadarius wakes up and he looks back and he's like, CD, man, like,
- 1:34:16Speaker 9: you got to get that fixed. Like that's crazy to
- 1:34:18Speaker 9: work on that show. Because I was like, here's right
- 1:34:21Speaker 9: right there, and you heard him. I'm sitting right here
- 1:34:23Speaker 9: next to him.
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34:24Speaker 9: So anyway, so that was on the way there. By
- 1:34:27Speaker 9: the way back, ceed's still right behind me and so yeah,
- 1:34:30Speaker 9: he he. We're just kind of all hanging out, you know,
- 1:34:32Speaker 9: enjoying the music and socializing and yeah, next thing I know,
- 1:34:35Speaker 9: someone's put the chain around me and they got it.
- 1:34:37Speaker 9: Next thing, you know, I don't even know how to
- 1:34:39Speaker 9: how to tie it up, but uh, but they put
- 1:34:41Speaker 9: it on me and then and then you know, power
- 1:34:43Speaker 9: of social media. So you didn't ask for the chain,
- 1:34:46Speaker 9: You didn't say, hey, I'm him, I didn't ask for it,
- 1:34:48Speaker 9: but uh, but the spinner was also kind of a
- 1:34:50Speaker 9: huge part of it. Was big Fish Spinner I can't
- 1:34:54Speaker 9: exactly get it long enough for them to get it
- 1:34:56Speaker 9: on you. Yeah, so then the next away victory, coming back,
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: you know, it's just same thing. Although it was everybody's
- 1:35:02Speaker 9: chain and then and then from there it was this year,
- 1:35:06Speaker 9: it's got to come off, and then from there I
- 1:35:08Speaker 9: know where to go, which was a mistake. My big
- 1:35:11Speaker 9: biggest regret from the season, besides losing in the playoffs,
- 1:35:14Speaker 9: was that I didn't get a grill.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Oh, you would be outstanding with a grill. Could you
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: imagine you're showing up in August. There's still time, but
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: in August with a grill, So I can't imagine. I
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: think it'd be epic. I can Yeah, I don't know
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: that world either.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: What that is?
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: What you just said? I don't know. Yeah, you know
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: that world, I wink it's a must.
- 1:35:37Speaker 9: I think it would have been better though this season,
- 1:35:41Speaker 9: you know, while it was still fresh, always still had
- 1:35:43Speaker 9: the momentum. I know.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: I think you show up January twenty fifth at the
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: first press conference of the Minnesota Vikings season opening press
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: conference and you have a dark gold, like that grungy gold.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: Thing, Like that's why I didn't get done?
- 1:35:56Speaker 9: Was like, Okay, where do I get one in terms
- 1:35:58Speaker 9: of like, I probably gonna go like a dentist to
- 1:36:00Speaker 9: get it shaped or whatever. And then where do I
- 1:36:02Speaker 9: go to get the actual paraphernalia on there?
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:36:06Speaker 9: I don't know, but but JJ did say he because
- 1:36:08Speaker 9: he has one. He's like, I got you, you know,
- 1:36:09Speaker 9: I got all the people. I just never I never like,
- 1:36:12Speaker 9: I never like moved on it to actually get it done.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: So so this season, are we going to see you
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: with a with a grill at some point?
- 1:36:18Speaker 9: You think, I don't know, I don't know. That's that's
- 1:36:21Speaker 9: I mean, it's still early in twenty twenty three July.
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: You want to see that, don't you. So I'll be
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: outstanding if you do that. You should get faked back
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: the whole thing.
- 1:36:29Speaker 9: For me, the best part of the whole thing for
- 1:36:31Speaker 9: me was the timing of wearing the chains and then
- 1:36:35Speaker 9: the coming back from Miami. I had like a white
- 1:36:37Speaker 9: T shirt on and black like athletic pants our travel suit. Yeah,
- 1:36:41Speaker 9: the white T shirt, the chains and the black travel suit.
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: And then we come back from the bye week. It's
- 1:36:46Speaker 9: right around Halloween, and we go to play the Cardinals
- 1:36:48Speaker 9: the day before Halloween, and there's all these fans in
- 1:36:51Speaker 9: warm ups with black pants, a white T shirt and
- 1:36:55Speaker 9: chains as I tucked in as a Halloween costume, and
- 1:36:59Speaker 9: I was like, that's when you know this is bigger
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: than me, like when it was becoming a Halloween costume
- 1:37:05Speaker 9: in Minnesota. This is fund And then you get a
- 1:37:08Speaker 9: little kid at Thanksgiving and the Thanksgiving game, a little
- 1:37:10Speaker 9: kid who's wearing shirtless the whole game would change.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: Sitting in his chair, dude, I.
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: Love that you You mentioned you mentioned a minute ago
- 1:37:19Speaker 6: biggest regret losing the playoffs.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: What is your biggest regret of that game? And why
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: is it?
- 1:37:24Speaker 6: Third down throwing a yeah, a three yard route on
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: fourth and eleven game?
- 1:37:29Speaker 9: Yeah, so third down on the final drive, we got
- 1:37:31Speaker 9: man coverage for a play that is meant to be
- 1:37:34Speaker 9: man coverage. And I can't remember if we had a
- 1:37:36Speaker 9: can on it, if we didn't get mad or what,
- 1:37:38Speaker 9: but we got man and I'm thinking, yes, like this
- 1:37:42Speaker 9: is perfect and.
- 1:37:44Speaker 8: The ball, you know, man coverage is going to be
- 1:37:46Speaker 8: tight coverage.
- 1:37:46Speaker 9: And the ball was throwing like one foot behind kJ
- 1:37:50Speaker 9: Osborne and if it's just a foot out in front
- 1:37:53Speaker 9: of him, he catches that runs up and we're now
- 1:37:56Speaker 9: hopefully in the strike zone, high red zone with a
- 1:37:58Speaker 9: chance to go, it would probably go for two and
- 1:38:01Speaker 9: try to win the game right there.
- 1:38:03Speaker 8: So that was the most frustrating to play fourth.
- 1:38:07Speaker 9: Down, you know, with where my read went and where
- 1:38:10Speaker 9: my eyes went and Dexter Lawrence was coming, I felt
- 1:38:12Speaker 9: like my options were either throw it out to TJ
- 1:38:15Speaker 9: or take a sack in that moment. And if I
- 1:38:18Speaker 9: had taken a sack, the optics probably look better. It
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: probably looks like, you know, ah man, I got to
- 1:38:23Speaker 9: protect him, you know, but when you get rid of
- 1:38:25Speaker 9: the ball to avoid the sack, then it looks like
- 1:38:27Speaker 9: you're the idiot. So but certainly third down was where
- 1:38:31Speaker 9: I was felt like I was the idiot by not
- 1:38:33Speaker 9: making that throw when you knew it was when you
- 1:38:35Speaker 9: as man coverage and you threw a foot off. Did
- 1:38:37Speaker 9: you bring that into the fourth down? Was there trouble
- 1:38:41Speaker 9: with the memory?
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: What's important?
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: What's next? Next play?
- 1:38:46Speaker 9: You know, when we say cliche the game is played
- 1:38:48Speaker 9: one play at a time, that's really how it's played.
- 1:38:50Speaker 9: Like you play whatever happens you next play, and you
- 1:38:54Speaker 9: just go next play, next by next play, And that
- 1:38:55Speaker 9: includes like fourth and eighteen against Buffalo when the play
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: comes in, Like you don't have a play for fourth
- 1:38:59Speaker 9: and eight team, but when the play comes in, you're like, okay,
- 1:39:01Speaker 9: next play. How do we execute fourth and eighteen? If
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: we're calling this route and this concept and you know
- 1:39:06Speaker 9: there's a time out. In that moment, you're able to
- 1:39:08Speaker 9: kind of talk with the team like, Hey, this is
- 1:39:09Speaker 9: the plan. This is how we're gonna execute this. You
- 1:39:11Speaker 9: understand percentages are low, but you also have to have
- 1:39:13Speaker 9: a plan.
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: JJ's up there somewhere. Yeah, exactly when.
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: There is no next play in your right you're jogging
- 1:39:18Speaker 6: off the field. What's going through your head at that
- 1:39:20Speaker 6: time when it's all when it really.
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: Is over, and you're like fuck yeah, not a good feeling.
- 1:39:23Speaker 9: And what's funny about our team this year is because
- 1:39:26Speaker 9: we had always kind of found a way in those
- 1:39:27Speaker 9: one score games, like in Buffalo when.
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: They fumble and we get watched down on their one
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: yard line.
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: There's a part of you even that's like, as you're
- 1:39:35Speaker 9: walking off not converting that fourth down, you're kind of
- 1:39:38Speaker 9: like still believing, like, what what could happen?
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: What's the but you realize, no, they're just gonna go
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: out and take a knee. And like it's over.
- 1:39:45Speaker 8: Do you ever it's hard to accept it.
- 1:39:46Speaker 6: Do you ever think like, did you ever think during
- 1:39:48Speaker 6: that time frame, like I'm gonna get killed for this
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: because there's this, there's this, there's this of Kirk.
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: Cousins that I saw I'll fight anybody over.
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: That.
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: It's like, the man's gonna get you four thousand yards. Ye,
- 1:40:00Speaker 6: he's going to get you one of the better qbrs.
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: He's going to get you one of the better ratios
- 1:40:03Speaker 6: in the league. But when it comes down to that
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: killer instinct moment or just a play that anybody turns
- 1:40:07Speaker 6: to say that fourth and eleven or the image when
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: you when it doesn't happen for you, it's like, you know,
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: people's mind might go there, even though you've won big
- 1:40:16Speaker 6: games and everything else. Do you feel like you hear
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: that and do you feel like it's something It's like, man,
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: I got to shake this at some point.
- 1:40:21Speaker 8: Well, I think playing quarterback you'll always have that.
- 1:40:24Speaker 9: I think that you want to make sure that you
- 1:40:27Speaker 9: care about the people who are in a position to judge.
- 1:40:30Speaker 9: So people are in a position to judge, like I
- 1:40:33Speaker 9: need I need to hear it. I need to be
- 1:40:34Speaker 9: coached by it and you listen to it. I need
- 1:40:36Speaker 9: to fix it.
- 1:40:37Speaker 8: People aren't a position to judge.
- 1:40:38Speaker 9: I think you can drive yourself crazy if you try to,
- 1:40:41Speaker 9: you know, prioritize that or listen to that, and people
- 1:40:45Speaker 9: are going to say what they what they kind of
- 1:40:47Speaker 9: want to say. So yeah, you have to be big
- 1:40:51Speaker 9: enough to just block it out if you will, or
- 1:40:54Speaker 9: if you hear it, to just be able to be
- 1:40:56Speaker 9: the bigger person and just move forward. But you know,
- 1:40:59Speaker 9: it's not even be the bigger person because they have
- 1:41:00Speaker 9: a job to do and if their job is to
- 1:41:02Speaker 9: criticize or to point, then they're doing their job and
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: that's fine. So you know, you and you understand, like
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: guys like Tom Brady get it like they get they get,
- 1:41:12Speaker 9: you know, stuff thrown at them when all they've done
- 1:41:14Speaker 9: is win seven Super Bowls.
- 1:41:16Speaker 8: So you know, you understand it. You're no one's immune
- 1:41:18Speaker 8: to it. No one's immune to it.
- 1:41:20Speaker 9: You just you just try to play the best you
- 1:41:22Speaker 9: can and find ways to win and be as successful
- 1:41:24Speaker 9: as you can. And I know that winning tends to
- 1:41:27Speaker 9: secure a lot because there were games where I would
- 1:41:29Speaker 9: walk away feeling like, man, I should really get it,
- 1:41:33Speaker 9: you know, after this game, come away from this game,
- 1:41:35Speaker 9: but we won, and I'd go to the postgame press
- 1:41:37Speaker 9: and it'd be so easy because we won. People just
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: didn't give me a hard time. So I do feel
- 1:41:41Speaker 9: like winning kind of covers over everything. And then the
- 1:41:45Speaker 9: opposite is true if you're playing out of your mind
- 1:41:47Speaker 9: but you're losing, like as a quarterback, like must be
- 1:41:51Speaker 9: something wrong with you, you know?
- 1:41:52Speaker 6: Is that? Does that ever get difficult with dealing with
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: like going through the noise? Because you have a good
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: head on your shoulders, you always have to do a
- 1:41:58Speaker 6: good job compartmentalizing, as you know, the mental game is
- 1:42:01Speaker 6: something you.
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: Have to constantly work on.
- 1:42:03Speaker 6: Well said, do some of those years or some of
- 1:42:05Speaker 6: those moments are they more difficult than others?
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, I.
- 1:42:10Speaker 9: I mean I could go on and on about how
- 1:42:13Speaker 9: you know you don't sleep well night after a loss
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: or a week, you know, going a week like we
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: lose to the Packers week seventeen. I think it was
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: like I don't sleep well for like three days, you know,
- 1:42:23Speaker 9: and uh, it just weighs. You internalize it too much
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: where you have to say, like you know, there's something
- 1:42:29Speaker 9: wrong with me, like how do I how do I
- 1:42:31Speaker 9: work through this so that I can handle it better
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: because this isn't sustainable. And what you know, coach McVeigh
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: has kind of dealt with of do I keep coaching
- 1:42:40Speaker 9: or not. I think that a lot of us as
- 1:42:42Speaker 9: players kind of go through that every year of like
- 1:42:44Speaker 9: do I come back for another year or do I
- 1:42:46Speaker 9: subject myself to that? Because it's not from the outside,
- 1:42:49Speaker 9: it's like internal torment that you do to yourself, you
- 1:42:52Speaker 9: know where I've heard Tom Brady say and I would
- 1:42:54Speaker 9: agree wholeheartedly with this that I hope my two boys,
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: Cooper and Turner, find a passion that that they can
- 1:43:03Speaker 9: have in life the way I found football. But I
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: hope they never feel the torment that football has also
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: given me, just because of the way I internalize it
- 1:43:13Speaker 9: and the way I grind at it. The game does
- 1:43:16Speaker 9: kind of torment you in a way that I hope
- 1:43:18Speaker 9: my boys never have to experience.
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: Yeah, what does the future look like for you? Well,
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: talk about those conversations. Yeah, it's a conversation you probably had.
- 1:43:27Speaker 9: Yeah, I think you know, Julie and I after the
- 1:43:29Speaker 9: season we talk and it's like are we are we
- 1:43:31Speaker 9: going back around the horn again? And right now, you know,
- 1:43:34Speaker 9: we feel yes, you know, we want to keep going,
- 1:43:38Speaker 9: but it does feel very year to year, you know,
- 1:43:41Speaker 9: in terms of every year, what are you going to
- 1:43:42Speaker 9: do next? And uh, you know, for me, it's just
- 1:43:46Speaker 9: trying to trying to win a Super Bowl, trying to
- 1:43:49Speaker 9: win as many games as we can and do whatever
- 1:43:54Speaker 9: it kind of whatever it takes to to to do
- 1:43:56Speaker 9: that to get there. And hopefully that's you know, keeping
- 1:43:59Speaker 9: our locker room together and taking another big step in
- 1:44:02Speaker 9: twenty twenty three and and then you know, go from there.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: I want to pivot to college because I want to.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: I went to Michigan, Yes you did, which is a
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: long ways from Phoenix.
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it is a long way from Phoenix. But good
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: for you.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I was a
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: desert rat. I just wanted to see four seasons and
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: I found out real quick.
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: No, I think you've learned real fast. Yeah, I'll learned
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: real fast. Why did you make the mistake of going
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: to Michigan State. Uh, well, you make the mistake of.
- 1:44:31Speaker 9: Going to Michigan State, And that's what you want to
- 1:44:33Speaker 9: call it when you don't have any other options Michigan.
- 1:44:36Speaker 8: Michigan didn't offer, Michigan never offered.
- 1:44:38Speaker 9: They got a guy named Ryan Mallett in my recruiting
- 1:44:41Speaker 9: class from Texas who committed so early that they were
- 1:44:44Speaker 9: pretty much not even looking, and you were the better
- 1:44:47Speaker 9: get there.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: Well, my journey was bloomer, very late, blamer. What's he doing?
- 1:44:54Speaker 8: Do you even know what he's doing?
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:44:55Speaker 8: I don't a pro career, but yeah, he was a I.
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: Can and I know that.
- 1:45:01Speaker 9: Wouldn't have worked out well for me because Lloyd Carr
- 1:45:03Speaker 9: retired after my freshman year.
- 1:45:05Speaker 8: Coach Rodriguez comes in.
- 1:45:07Speaker 9: Probably wouldn't have fit his system as well as Nard
- 1:45:09Speaker 9: Robinson did, so probably wouldn't have worked out for me either.
- 1:45:13Speaker 8: But Michigan stand the other hand, was a perfect fit.
- 1:45:15Speaker 9: You got to go on a pro style offense, got
- 1:45:17Speaker 9: to have the same head coach, same quarterback coach all
- 1:45:19Speaker 9: five years, got to play with great players all around me.
- 1:45:21Speaker 9: They just kept recruiting better and better every year, and
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: it could not have worked out better, Which is funny
- 1:45:25Speaker 9: because I was not a big recruit, and so typically
- 1:45:28Speaker 9: when you're a big recruit, you got to go somewhere
- 1:45:29Speaker 9: that maybe you don't want to go to.
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: As much or may not be as good of a fit.
- 1:45:33Speaker 9: But for me not being a big recruit and not
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: having any big ten offers in Michigan State offering. I
- 1:45:37Speaker 9: look back and I say, if I had had fifty
- 1:45:40Speaker 9: offers and could have gone to Michigan or Notre Dame
- 1:45:42Speaker 9: or these other places, I probably would have made a
- 1:45:44Speaker 9: bad decision. Like it's a good thing that Michigan State
- 1:45:46Speaker 9: was my only option because it sent me to a
- 1:45:47Speaker 9: place that literally could not have been better.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: When do you go into the rivalry for the Paul
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: Bunyan Trophy, Like what is how? What's like Michigan State's
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: like rally rally, cry to beat Michigan. They're pompous, they
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: think they're better than you. It's a good questioner, assholes,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: I think. I remember we lost in seven. We were
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: up ten with seven minutes left. I'm read storting, I'm
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: not playing. I say we we lost by We lost
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: on she had Henny and Mario Manningham. I think a
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: couple of touchdowns and we lose. And I remember walking
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: off the field and there was a blue and yellow,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: amazing blue sign in the audience in the crowd that
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: just said still arrogant. And I remember kind of walking
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: off like yep, yep, yep, And so I think that
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: was kind of the the motivation then for those next
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: four years, and uh crushed us, right you had three
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: and one again, Yeah, we did, and we didn't like
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: two thousand yeah, well the time I was there, well, two.
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: Thousand and eight I didn't play.
- 1:46:44Speaker 9: We won in the Big House, and then twenty nine, ten,
- 1:46:48Speaker 9: eleven I played, but.
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: You guys won. Yeah, yeah, but but still I went
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: gonna be like, we dropped one.
- 1:46:58Speaker 10: In the next three years I played, Yeah, don't even
- 1:47:00Speaker 10: know he won, just I played Michigan.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: I mean, to be fair to Michigan. It was the
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Dark years, correct turnover with Coach Rodriguez. Every year I
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: was at Michigan would qualify as the Dark Years.
- 1:47:10Speaker 9: So Coach Carr retires, he kind of built a certain
- 1:47:13Speaker 9: style of play, and then Coach Riguez comes in with
- 1:47:15Speaker 9: kind of a different, different style. He's got to recruit
- 1:47:17Speaker 9: his guys, and then by the time he had done that,
- 1:47:19Speaker 9: he was like, oh, and now Coach Hope comes in
- 1:47:21Speaker 9: to try to return to what Coach Carr was doing
- 1:47:24Speaker 9: to some degree, but it was almost like now we
- 1:47:27Speaker 9: still have Now we have Coach Rodd's players. So there
- 1:47:28Speaker 9: were there was a lot of terms, so it was
- 1:47:30Speaker 9: kind of timing wise, it was good timing to be
- 1:47:32Speaker 9: Michigan State, if you will.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: It was terrible.
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: It was terrible.
- 1:47:35Speaker 9: Well, but uh yeah, it's just for me. I grew
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: up in the state. You were from Phoenix. I grew
- 1:47:41Speaker 9: up in the States. So like I knew, if I
- 1:47:43Speaker 9: go back to Holland, Michigan, there's going to be a
- 1:47:45Speaker 9: lot of people there that are amazed and blue and
- 1:47:47Speaker 9: a lot of people that are green and white. And
- 1:47:48Speaker 9: so it's very very personal, very real to me. And
- 1:47:51Speaker 9: Coach Dantonio would always say that you win this game,
- 1:47:54Speaker 9: you walk the streets, not the alleys of your hometown.
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: And I would sit there there and I would nod
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: my head, like that's absolutely right.
- 1:48:03Speaker 9: Like I know eighth Street in downtown Holland, and I
- 1:48:06Speaker 9: know I'm going to be on a street in downtown
- 1:48:08Speaker 9: Holland the rest of my life. And I know that
- 1:48:10Speaker 9: I'm trying to walk the streets of that town the
- 1:48:12Speaker 9: rest of my life. And so when we won my
- 1:48:16Speaker 9: senior year, to have won four in a row, and
- 1:48:19Speaker 9: I knew that in the years I played, we were
- 1:48:20Speaker 9: three and oh that's when I said it at the
- 1:48:23Speaker 9: press conference, like I'm going to walk the streets in
- 1:48:25Speaker 9: my hometown the rest of my life. And I'm not
- 1:48:26Speaker 9: saying this like with any kind of hyperbole. I'm literally
- 1:48:30Speaker 9: going to walk the streets to my town with the
- 1:48:33Speaker 9: Michigan State symbol on, knowing that like when I was there,
- 1:48:36Speaker 9: we took care of business. So it is personal and
- 1:48:39Speaker 9: it is very real to me because I grew up
- 1:48:40Speaker 9: in the state.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: Hey, that's that was fire. That was really good. I'm upset.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: Yeah what about now though? Now how good Michigan?
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: So they get back to walking the streets because they've
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: been tucked into the alleys for a.
- 1:48:54Speaker 8: Couple of years.
- 1:48:54Speaker 9: My freshman year or my sorry, my rookie year with Washington,
- 1:48:58Speaker 9: we lost in Michigan State lost a Notre Dame, and
- 1:49:01Speaker 9: I would be like, you know, upset.
- 1:49:03Speaker 8: I was like, ah, you know, and I'm a rookie.
- 1:49:05Speaker 9: And Rex Grossmith said to me is like, I think
- 1:49:06Speaker 9: every year you're in the NFL longer, you kind of
- 1:49:10Speaker 9: lose touch with your college program more and more.
- 1:49:13Speaker 8: It's just kind of the way it goes.
- 1:49:14Speaker 9: You'll kind of look back in your ten like I'm
- 1:49:16Speaker 9: at and you'll kind of be like, yeah, I'm not
- 1:49:17Speaker 9: as close to the program as it used to be,
- 1:49:18Speaker 9: and I think that's true.
- 1:49:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I think, I think I think it's true.
- 1:49:22Speaker 9: I just you know, Coachy Antonio is retired now, all
- 1:49:25Speaker 9: that staff has moved on. I don't know anybody at
- 1:49:29Speaker 9: the program as well. I still follow it. I still,
- 1:49:33Speaker 9: you know, love it. Coaches obviously still in the basketball
- 1:49:35Speaker 9: program is the same, which is great, but even that'll
- 1:49:36Speaker 9: change at some point, and so it is a little
- 1:49:39Speaker 9: harder to like.
- 1:49:40Speaker 8: Stay close to it.
- 1:49:41Speaker 9: I'll probably try to go back to a spring practice
- 1:49:43Speaker 9: this year and say hello to people. But you know,
- 1:49:45Speaker 9: life goes on and you follow it, but it is
- 1:49:48Speaker 9: harder to stay real close to it when yeah.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: What about the blackshirt defense.
- 1:49:55Speaker 9: Let's talk about twenty eleven no in Memorial Stadium. Yeah,
- 1:49:59Speaker 9: my worst off performance. We can, I can I get
- 1:50:03Speaker 9: on a soapbox about this. Go ahead, Yah, Okay. So
- 1:50:05Speaker 9: I have deep respect for Coach Pollini, and there's a
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: few defensive coordinators and head coaches who are defensive minded
- 1:50:10Speaker 9: head coaches that I've gone against through the years where
- 1:50:12Speaker 9: I walk off the field at the end of the
- 1:50:13Speaker 9: game and I'm like smart fish, like that guy knows
- 1:50:16Speaker 9: what he's doing, and it was saving. We played Alabama
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: and it was PLAINI we played Nebraska, those two where
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: you're like, he's getting like he watched tape this week
- 1:50:26Speaker 9: and he had a plan and he was his plan
- 1:50:29Speaker 9: like it was good, good plan.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: It worked.
- 1:50:32Speaker 9: So he good players like Levante David and Will Compton
- 1:50:35Speaker 9: and Alfonso Dinard and you know Crick and all those guys.
- 1:50:39Speaker 9: But uh, but no, I just remember they had a
- 1:50:41Speaker 9: they had like a really good plan. You guys had
- 1:50:44Speaker 9: a really good plan and it showed in the statline
- 1:50:45Speaker 9: with you for a DRS No.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I would always bring that up with on Lincoln. Yeah,
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: I was in Lincoln. How were the fans incredibly nice
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: to you after the game? Yeah? I think they that
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: was that was something we were going into the game.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: They told us it would be like and then getting
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: Filippines in the stance in Nebraska.
- 1:51:02Speaker 9: So we were walk off the field and we got
- 1:51:04Speaker 9: our tails kicked and they were just good job. Guys
- 1:51:06Speaker 9: could try. You know, it's wild he gets in your head. Yeah,
- 1:51:09Speaker 9: but they had also I can't remember if that was
- 1:51:11Speaker 9: when they had they hadn't built the third deck like
- 1:51:14Speaker 9: that stadium's huge.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: Now, yeah, I think it's like ninety something. Yeah it was.
- 1:51:18Speaker 8: It was, you know, like seventy five eighty back then.
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a loud though. Leini had it rolling. Yeah
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: we were rolling. Do you look back, like, bro, Michigan
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: State were you they? Yeah? You were scholarship from the
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: get go?
- 1:51:31Speaker 8: Right, yep, okay, yep you look back?
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: So I didn't mean any disrespect there. Fourth round pick
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: in the career you've had, do you like look back
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: and you're like, yo, yeah, how w in the fuck
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: did this come about? You know what I mean?
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: Yeah, like obviously totally it's gonna work. I've been around you,
- 1:51:47Speaker 6: like you work your tail off. But it's like, yeah,
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: it's like while looking back on, like, man, we really
- 1:51:53Speaker 6: did it when we as and you and your wife, not.
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: Me and you.
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I know we do it. Yeah, Well it wasn't
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: a big piece of that. You were like, don't take
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: anything away for your brother all the time.
- 1:52:04Speaker 9: Yes, if you yes, if you had seen me in
- 1:52:06Speaker 9: high school, you know, I remember going to get an
- 1:52:10Speaker 9: office to Michigan, get offered the Michigan State and accepting
- 1:52:12Speaker 9: and kind of I remember the narrative around town in
- 1:52:14Speaker 9: my hometown got back to me like good for him,
- 1:52:16Speaker 9: but like he's not gonna play. There, you know, like
- 1:52:19Speaker 9: it's cool that he got a scholarship and like, but
- 1:52:22Speaker 9: he's not gonna play.
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: I mean you were not like yeah, I remember seeing
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: the old photos.
- 1:52:26Speaker 9: Yeah, so to even like I remember, the goal was
- 1:52:29Speaker 9: like get a scholarship. I just get a scholarship. That'd
- 1:52:31Speaker 9: be so cool. And then it was like maybe, but
- 1:52:34Speaker 9: we'll ever play, Like if I could just play, you know,
- 1:52:37Speaker 9: start a game, that'd be incredible. Then you do that
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: and it's like, well I can actually like be good,
- 1:52:41Speaker 9: like maybe we could like win the Big Ten. And
- 1:52:44Speaker 9: then we did that, and it's like like maybe I
- 1:52:46Speaker 9: could like one time, like we're an NFL helmet. Like
- 1:52:49Speaker 9: I remember when I went to Washington got drafted and
- 1:52:51Speaker 9: I put on the helmet and went out to mini
- 1:52:54Speaker 9: camp practice. I remember thinking like, well I get cut today,
- 1:52:57Speaker 9: Like at least I wore an NFL helmet, Like that's
- 1:53:00Speaker 9: pretty cool to make it that far. And then you
- 1:53:03Speaker 9: make the team and you're like get into a game
- 1:53:06Speaker 9: and you're like I'm playing in the NFL. So it's
- 1:53:08Speaker 9: just this kind of gradual progression and now you're saying
- 1:53:11Speaker 9: like it's funny because I'll say to my wife like,
- 1:53:13Speaker 9: I don't think I could be I could walk away
- 1:53:15Speaker 9: from this career if we don't win a super Bowl.
- 1:53:17Speaker 8: I don't think I could ever really like feel peace about.
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: It thinking back to these things. And you're like, I
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: think you've had a good run.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's what happens with like our job or
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: anybody who's trying to have massive success. It's like you
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: set a goal, you reach it, and it's like, for
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: whatever reason, you sit there and you're like, you put
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: the NFL helmet on.
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: You're like, why don't I feel one hundred percent?
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:53:38Speaker 8: Antonio always say to me the moment.
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: You get in front of the mirror before you go
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: out to practice, you got the helmet on, You're looking
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: like this is I did it. But then like two
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: seconds later you're like, but what am I going to
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: do next? What if I don't do anything with this,
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: then I'm a failure? And then it's always something else,
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: and it's like all I mean, you.
- 1:53:54Speaker 9: Think winning a Super Bowl, I think when you talk
- 1:53:56Speaker 9: to people who have won it, pull it's over bub Well, well,
- 1:53:58Speaker 9: when you talk to people have won it, they make
- 1:54:00Speaker 9: it very clear that that didn't That didn't fix everything.
- 1:54:03Speaker 8: Damn, that just frocks everything.
- 1:54:05Speaker 9: Like like you get about two months, you get about
- 1:54:07Speaker 9: two months of like, man, we did it, and then
- 1:54:10Speaker 9: you realize, like we got high expectations, like there's no
- 1:54:13Speaker 9: reason we shouldn't do this again, and like anything less
- 1:54:15Speaker 9: than this is not acceptable, and so it never ends,
- 1:54:18Speaker 9: I guess, but but yeah, Coach Antonio used to tell
- 1:54:21Speaker 9: me there's a book called The Dream Giver and that
- 1:54:24Speaker 9: he loves, and he would tell me, you know when
- 1:54:25Speaker 9: you in that book is chasing a dream. You climb
- 1:54:28Speaker 9: one mountain, you get to the top of the mountain,
- 1:54:29Speaker 9: you look around, you realize there's just more mountains to climb,
- 1:54:31Speaker 9: and he's like, you can you can stop at that
- 1:54:33Speaker 9: top of that mountain for a second, look around and
- 1:54:35Speaker 9: take it in. But like in life, there will always
- 1:54:37Speaker 9: be that next mountain to climb, and certainly in the
- 1:54:39Speaker 9: football journey, we've all lived that.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: You were draft in the fourth round. RGI three was
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: drafted in the first round.
- 1:54:45Speaker 6: He was gonna be the franchise guy, and you kind
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: of sat behind him until you didn't.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: Do you do you look back on that? Can you
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: speak back on like over.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: Making the climb to become the guy in that whole
- 1:54:58Speaker 6: process unfolding with RG three being like the face of
- 1:55:01Speaker 6: the franchise, and you're kind of like, you know, they're
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: like integrating you into with all the drama and all
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: the noise surrounding the whole thing, and you're just you're
- 1:55:08Speaker 6: just like, well, I'm gonna go out here, and you know,
- 1:55:10Speaker 6: once you get on the field, you're like, you know,
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: let me play well enough to not to not be replaceable?
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: Can you can you talk about that?
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: Sure?
- 1:55:19Speaker 9: First of all, the model was, you know, back up
- 1:55:23Speaker 9: Robert and support him, and if I play well in
- 1:55:27Speaker 9: preseason games, I'm gonna get an opportunity somewhere in the trade.
- 1:55:30Speaker 9: Kyle Shannam made that very clear from the day I
- 1:55:32Speaker 9: was drafted, and Rex Grossman said to me, you know,
- 1:55:35Speaker 9: this offense, playing well is in your best interest because
- 1:55:38Speaker 9: when a quarterback can be a part of a really
- 1:55:41Speaker 9: good offense, I think it makes other teams want you more.
- 1:55:45Speaker 9: So when when you know we had a great year,
- 1:55:48Speaker 9: our rookie year. I really just watched this griff one
- 1:55:50Speaker 9: Rookie of the Year, and Rex made the point like
- 1:55:52Speaker 9: this is really good, you know for your career to
- 1:55:55Speaker 9: just be watching someone playing at this level is really
- 1:55:58Speaker 9: really good. And I agreed, and then and I just assumed, again,
- 1:56:02Speaker 9: not knowing how the pro football works, I just assumed
- 1:56:04Speaker 9: we'd run it back and be able to do the
- 1:56:07Speaker 9: same thing. And the next year we went three and thirteen,
- 1:56:09Speaker 9: and so you quickly realize just how hard this league is.
- 1:56:13Speaker 9: And then coach Cruden came in, and that next year
- 1:56:15Speaker 9: we went four and twelve, and again you realize, like, man,
- 1:56:18Speaker 9: this is really hard. And then going into fifteen, you know,
- 1:56:24Speaker 9: you're just kind of competing, understanding that maybe if you
- 1:56:27Speaker 9: practice well enough, you might get a shot. And then
- 1:56:30Speaker 9: that was when Jay made the decision going into you know,
- 1:56:34Speaker 9: twenty fifteen season, near the end of camp, you know,
- 1:56:36Speaker 9: the end of preseason, that okay, we're going to go
- 1:56:38Speaker 9: with Kirk. But even then it was like, I got
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: to play well enough to stay out there, you know.
- 1:56:42Speaker 9: And I remember the game against Bucks. We got down
- 1:56:45Speaker 9: twenty four to nothing, and the buye was the next week,
- 1:56:47Speaker 9: So if we don't win that game, you know, I've
- 1:56:50Speaker 9: heard some people say on that staff they thought they
- 1:56:52Speaker 9: were all going to get fired if we didn't win
- 1:56:53Speaker 9: that game, and I probably don't come back after the
- 1:56:55Speaker 9: buy week because it's starting quarterback. So we were one
- 1:56:58Speaker 9: half away from probably it never going the way it did.
- 1:57:01Speaker 9: We come back and win that game thirty one thirty
- 1:57:03Speaker 9: and then I yell you like that, and you know it, bro,
- 1:57:06Speaker 9: And we never really looked back, but but you know,
- 1:57:10Speaker 9: you do realize how close it was to going the
- 1:57:12Speaker 9: other way.
- 1:57:13Speaker 6: Man.
- 1:57:13Speaker 8: It's crazy.
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: Why couldn't we get it done in Washington? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: So we were at the Pro Bowl this past few Yeah,
- 1:57:23Speaker 2: And that's what made me think of it too.
- 1:57:24Speaker 6: It's like he's crushing in the media world and he's
- 1:57:27Speaker 6: sitting there interviewing you, and I'm sitting there looking at
- 1:57:29Speaker 6: that photo, like, man, they really went through some stuff.
- 1:57:32Speaker 6: Whether they're even not that you guys were never friends,
- 1:57:35Speaker 6: but you're almost you're you're a lot wiser now, you're
- 1:57:38Speaker 6: more mature. You're kind of just you're both doing everybody's
- 1:57:40Speaker 6: doing their thing and everybody's saying for each other, and
- 1:57:42Speaker 6: you went through some like tumultuous times where it's like
- 1:57:44Speaker 6: it seemed like you guys were rivals and you guys
- 1:57:46Speaker 6: just kind of had the Whether that storm, whether he's
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: kind of looking at you, You're looking at him. But
- 1:57:50Speaker 6: it was kind of like I saw that photo and
- 1:57:51Speaker 6: that's what made me think about that.
- 1:57:53Speaker 9: Yeah, first of all, Griff's really smart, really articulate, and
- 1:57:55Speaker 9: he really knows the league.
- 1:57:56Speaker 8: So what he does now he's good at doing. He's
- 1:57:58Speaker 8: really good at it.
- 1:58:00Speaker 9: But yeah, he uh, you know, he just did the
- 1:58:03Speaker 9: post interview with me and Eli, and I had talked
- 1:58:05Speaker 9: to him earlier in the week with the skills challenge
- 1:58:07Speaker 9: and stuff, and got caught up.
- 1:58:07Speaker 8: I just hadn't seen him.
- 1:58:08Speaker 9: I hadn't seen him in like maybe six seven years
- 1:58:10Speaker 9: because we hadn't played each other right after twenty fifteen,
- 1:58:13Speaker 9: and so I just never had run into him. And
- 1:58:16Speaker 9: it was great to see him. Great to get caught up,
- 1:58:20Speaker 9: and you know, he's you know, he put his arm
- 1:58:23Speaker 9: around me after we finished the interview and just said, hey, man,
- 1:58:25Speaker 9: like I'm in your corner, and it was just really
- 1:58:27Speaker 9: good to connect with him. And I just looked back
- 1:58:30Speaker 9: and I just said, you know, likewise, but you know,
- 1:58:33Speaker 9: I'll never forget now being a starting quarterback and understanding
- 1:58:36Speaker 9: how hard it is to do the job. I'll never
- 1:58:39Speaker 9: forget what you did your rookie year, Like no fear
- 1:58:42Speaker 9: coming in as a rookie and just taking over and
- 1:58:45Speaker 9: making plays and putting your body on the line, and
- 1:58:48Speaker 9: the mental, physical toughness, learning a new system, moving to
- 1:58:51Speaker 9: a new city, taking on all that pressure of the media, everything,
- 1:58:53Speaker 9: Like the way he handled it was just incredible. And
- 1:58:56Speaker 9: I just told him that and and I'll tell anyone
- 1:58:58Speaker 9: the rest of my life like what he did that
- 1:59:00Speaker 9: year was incredible.
- 1:59:03Speaker 2: You got anything else, buddy, I'm solid. Hey, thank you
- 1:59:06Speaker 2: for coming on, man, thanks for having me.
- 1:59:07Speaker 6: Great now, you don't do this a whole lot, so
- 1:59:10Speaker 6: I really do appreciate it and parent and talking about
- 1:59:13Speaker 6: all this time.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: Either I don't know you too well.
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: You have an unbelievable career, you know, brother, hold on,
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: there's so much more.
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: But this guy, this guy is why I'm here.
- 1:59:22Speaker 9: And uh uh, you know, I I'm always when I
- 1:59:27Speaker 9: go through life, I'm looking for leaders because I think
- 1:59:29Speaker 9: that leadership. Everything rises and falls on leadership, and quite frankly,
- 1:59:32Speaker 9: I think leaders are hard to find. And this guy's
- 1:59:35Speaker 9: a leader. He's a leader of leaders because he can
- 1:59:38Speaker 9: build relationship with people. He can connect with anybody in
- 1:59:40Speaker 9: our locker room, anybody in our locker room from West Coast,
- 1:59:43Speaker 9: East Coast, inner city suburbs.
- 1:59:46Speaker 8: You know farm boy.
- 1:59:47Speaker 9: He can connect with anybody at any time, at any level.
- 1:59:49Speaker 9: He's he's he's engaging. He's funny, but he's smart, he studies,
- 1:59:53Speaker 9: he's tough. Like I keep a list of my phone
- 1:59:56Speaker 9: of people I would hire if I ever start a company,
- 1:59:58Speaker 9: and like, right there is the I would hire to
- 2:00:00Speaker 9: like run the company for me. Brother is a man.
- 2:00:05Speaker 9: Ye put my piece out there. He is why I'm
- 2:00:07Speaker 9: sitting on this chair. And here is why I think
- 2:00:09Speaker 9: this podcast will go as far as it wants to go.
- 2:00:11Speaker 9: And I plan on when I retiring football, giving him
- 2:00:14Speaker 9: a call and saying what are we doing?
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: So that's all time.
