- 1:04Speaker 1: Like we said at fando dot com, forward slash busting
- 1:07Speaker 1: to download the app and play your game. That was
- 1:11Speaker 1: a mouthful. That was a lot to take in right there. Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 1: Big weekend took place, a lot to break down, a
- 1:17Speaker 1: lot of good fun football to watch, a lot of fun,
- 1:19Speaker 1: especially in the NFL games. College football not so much.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It was more just me getting ready to watch like
- 1:24Speaker 1: the the later slates obviously USC, Nebraska, Michigan, Purdue. I
- 1:29Speaker 1: was really excited about. I didn't get a whole lot
- 1:31Speaker 1: of Oklahoma Tennessee, and I think that was because of
- 1:32Speaker 1: the dispute going on with ESPN and YouTube and I
- 1:35Speaker 1: had to bounce back and forth. That was a bit
- 1:37Speaker 1: of pain in the ass for me.
- 1:38Speaker 2: That figured out as as soon as possible, so as possible.
- 1:41Speaker 2: There was a few how to do that.
- 1:43Speaker 1: With Vandy Texas as well. Earlier in the day.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Whose side of you, guys, ow are you on YouTube
- 1:46Speaker 3: TV side or you on ESPN?
- 1:48Speaker 1: I'm on the side of get it done. I don't
- 1:50Speaker 1: even know who who's right or wrong in the situation.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I just boys, put the swords down and let the
- 1:55Speaker 1: viewer win.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Yeah, you're on the viewer side, you're on the customer side.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Because that that we're all the people, they kind of
- 2:02Speaker 4: take the hit. So YouTube TV was what offering like
- 2:05Speaker 4: a twenty dollars credit. ESPN wants it to go over
- 2:08Speaker 4: on their app, which, okay, they do have the they
- 2:12Speaker 4: do have the.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Sec what Monday Night Football? Yeah? What else do they
- 2:16Speaker 2: have that are like big Abc? ABC? Yeah, a bunch.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Of uh hold on greedy corporate fact.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Okay, everybody is. Everybody is. We're sitting back and watching.
- 2:28Speaker 4: We're watching like YouTube, Google, Disney.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We don't gotta cut it. We just gotta know that.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Mitch Carlsey said that not talllor one will comptent.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I get it.
- 2:37Speaker 1: In the world of television, everyone's trying to make their money.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I absolutely, but I know that a couple of years ago,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I had cable Will sat there and said, hey, hey,
- 2:44Speaker 1: you started, you gotta go on these streams. Like the
- 2:46Speaker 1: streaming services are incredible. You get everything you want more
- 2:49Speaker 1: and it's less it's it's less expensive all the things,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and I'm like, bro, yes, I jump on get rid
- 2:54Speaker 1: of cable. Now the streaming surface is kind of one
- 2:57Speaker 1: where everyone's kind of got something. We're like, oh I
- 2:59Speaker 1: need that, I gotta have this, what about that? And
- 3:01Speaker 1: it's way more it's way more expensive. Now the streaming
- 3:04Speaker 1: surfaces have kind of won. Now we're getting the fall,
- 3:07Speaker 1: which is a religion to all of us here every
- 3:10Speaker 1: Saturday and Sunday. We want to sit down and watch
- 3:11Speaker 1: our games. We want to make it easily accessible to
- 3:13Speaker 1: watch the games. And there's a dispute going on. We
- 3:16Speaker 1: got Montacuse capulists of a situation. I don't want that
- 3:19Speaker 1: when it comes to us watching college football in NFL.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I just want to be able to watch
- 3:23Speaker 2: the games.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Because even if you say, like go over on all
- 3:27Speaker 4: the ESPN stuff, sometimes it's kind of hard to get
- 3:29Speaker 4: back and forth on.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Like sometimes when I'm when I'm ordering like.
- 3:32Speaker 4: A pay per view fight for UFC, I get confused on, hey,
- 3:36Speaker 4: it seems like it's working. It seems like I also
- 3:39Speaker 4: got to pay again or sign in. I thought I
- 3:41Speaker 4: was already signed in, So I get confused on the uh.
- 3:45Speaker 2: On the ESPN at the times.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Yeah, but if you're ESPN, you're leveraged up. You got
- 3:49Speaker 4: all the se you got all all this stuff. I
- 3:51Speaker 4: don't know what the dispute is with the you know what.
- 3:53Speaker 4: They're arguing back and forth on on coming to a
- 3:56Speaker 4: settlement on putting them on YouTube TV. But it's just
- 3:59Speaker 4: it's big business, big big businesses above us taking taking advantage.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Of all of us.
- 4:03Speaker 4: We're we're we're all the victim. The customer becomes the
- 4:06Speaker 4: victim because eventually, even if they come to an agreement,
- 4:09Speaker 4: you know, prices will be bumped up somewhere along the way.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Whether it's on YouTube TV, whether it's getting everybody over
- 4:15Speaker 4: on ESPN, it's all a game. We're pons on the
- 4:19Speaker 4: chess board.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I will say it. When it comes to the apps,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I agree with you one hundred percent. ESPN's a little
- 4:23Speaker 1: harder to kind of maneuver and get around. YouTube TV
- 4:26Speaker 1: seems like a dumb man's type of streaming service.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Very easy.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You pop it on, it's right there. You got all
- 4:31Speaker 1: the games you want, You can get your multiview set
- 4:33Speaker 1: up you want, custom it's very Yeah, it's very user friendly.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Are you able to organize your YouTube TV lineup?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah? Is the best thing money baby, like.
- 4:43Speaker 5: The other channels at the bottom.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Or if you have if you have the app on
- 4:47Speaker 1: YouTube TV, if you have the app on your phone
- 4:49Speaker 1: as well, when you start to put in, like what
- 4:51Speaker 1: your favorite teams are, it'll tell you on your phone
- 4:54Speaker 1: like scores and everything going on there as well. I
- 4:55Speaker 1: don't know if ESPN does that, Yeah they do that,
- 4:57Speaker 1: but just seems like YouTube is easier for me to use.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I just want it to be easy, like I'll
- 5:03Speaker 2: pay I'll pay for a package, like I'll pay money
- 5:06Speaker 2: for a package. I just want to sit down, I
- 5:08Speaker 2: want to turn on the TV.
- 5:09Speaker 4: There's little buttons the presses, little buttons of press is
- 5:12Speaker 4: possible because because last year, it's like with NFL, when
- 5:15Speaker 4: basically every kind of network or streaming service had a game.
- 5:18Speaker 4: It's like, all right, that's just that's getting confusing to me,
- 5:21Speaker 4: Like can we just have a one stop shop to
- 5:23Speaker 4: where you know, all the capital of the businesses, like
- 5:25Speaker 4: they have all their wins and everything else. I just
- 5:27Speaker 4: want to simply turn on the TV and watch a
- 5:30Speaker 4: football game.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Why don't we get all those major corporations just make
- 5:34Speaker 1: one app and you guys all get a nice little
- 5:36Speaker 1: cut of the pie.
- 5:37Speaker 5: If what if we make an app?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll make it all the games, yeah, yeahs TV
- 5:43Speaker 1: bust and TV think about I'm thinking about I'm thinking
- 5:48Speaker 1: about ways to get around how we do it. I
- 5:50Speaker 1: feel like we just gotta find a few billion dollars, dude,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and we can we can make.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Feel like that's what they're all trying to do anyway,
- 5:54Speaker 4: It's like they're trying to monopolize television. Somebody's gonna somebody's
- 5:58Speaker 4: gonna be standing there in the end a decade or
- 6:00Speaker 4: two from now with all the you know, they bought Disney,
- 6:03Speaker 4: bought this, Google bought that, Disney bys Google, Google bys Disney.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Somebody's gonna be standing here to come down.
- 6:09Speaker 1: To Disney and Netflix.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I feel like those are the two Amazon Amazon think so.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean just because of who's behind it.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Jeff Bezos.
- 6:22Speaker 6: If I bet if I'm betting on CEOs and founders,
- 6:25Speaker 6: I'm probably betting on Bezos.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, fair enough.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Do you want to get into college football?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Do we want to? Yeah? Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Just to let people know, we'll break down college football first.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Greg greg Olsen, he will be joining here in a
- 6:37Speaker 4: little bit. Then we'll be talking about NFL football, a
- 6:39Speaker 4: lot of games, a lot of things to break down.
- 6:41Speaker 4: If you are watching listening right now, just make sure
- 6:43Speaker 4: you are subscribed to this channel. Helps the boys out
- 6:46Speaker 4: a lot, massive, massive weekend of football chaos and suing.
- 6:51Speaker 4: And the Huskers were right there, they were right there.
- 6:54Speaker 4: They were right there, shout out the boys, hey coming
- 6:57Speaker 4: and locking in the foxhile with your boy on the
- 7:00Speaker 4: stream all fun stream. We were blacked out, dark mode
- 7:04Speaker 4: with both Tennessee, dark mode with Nebraska, and we both
- 7:09Speaker 4: just got kicked in the gut. Yeah, probably should have
- 7:14Speaker 4: the lights off in the street the next thing.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Do we want to talk about Tennessee first? Do you
- 7:19Speaker 1: want to give the Florida Nebraska? Like really, I'm here
- 7:22Speaker 1: for you guys.
- 7:24Speaker 4: It's like, I just the problem is, I don't know
- 7:27Speaker 4: how long I'll talk about Nebraska, so I don't want
- 7:30Speaker 4: to see I know, I just don't want to take
- 7:32Speaker 4: people's time. At the end of the day, we lost,
- 7:36Speaker 4: our playoff hopes are gone, our quarterback is injured. He's
- 7:39Speaker 4: out for the season with a broken fibula. It was
- 7:43Speaker 4: going so well until it just turned and it wasn't
- 7:47Speaker 4: Buddy there there there. You could not have asked for
- 7:50Speaker 4: a better first half, Like, I'm nervous going to that
- 7:53Speaker 4: game because it's USC They're a very high powered offense.
- 7:57Speaker 4: The blackout everybody embracing the black and I'll just say
- 8:01Speaker 4: it right now, the blackout needs to happen every year.
- 8:04Speaker 4: The blackout needs to be something that happens every year.
- 8:06Speaker 4: People are kind of against it, saying no, no all
- 8:09Speaker 4: white jerseys, no all black jerseys. But yeaha yaha, du
- 8:13Speaker 4: That atmosphere looked like one of the coolest atmospheres ever
- 8:16Speaker 4: at Memorial Stadium. When we were sitting there watching it
- 8:19Speaker 4: as the game was coming on, I just look over Jack.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I was like, I made a mistake not being at
- 8:23Speaker 4: that game tonight. The way they painted the black in
- 8:25Speaker 4: the black end zones, just dude, you could just feel
- 8:28Speaker 4: the energy, the black balloons. Yeah, the way that the
- 8:32Speaker 4: Nebraska social team all week covered it, I think they
- 8:35Speaker 4: knocked it out of the park. And even the traditionalists,
- 8:37Speaker 4: you know, people be like, are the old heads are
- 8:38Speaker 4: they gonna wear red? Are they gonna come in black?
- 8:40Speaker 4: But just black from top to bottom. Dude, student section
- 8:43Speaker 4: was there, shoulder to shoulder. All the boneyard was packed
- 8:46Speaker 4: two hours before kickoff like that atmosphere looked electric, and
- 8:50Speaker 4: the football team came out and matched that intensity and
- 8:53Speaker 4: match that energy like you come out. It's like we
- 8:55Speaker 4: were taking the fight to usc It was before the
- 8:58Speaker 4: game was started. It's like, hey, seven points are gonna
- 9:00Speaker 4: We're gonna have to keep them three points and you
- 9:02Speaker 4: go into halftime fourteen to six, bro and excited, like, Yo,
- 9:08Speaker 4: we look fucking good. We were getting gashed in the
- 9:10Speaker 4: run game. But if you're sacrificing getting gashed in the
- 9:13Speaker 4: run game, It's like, if I could, I would love
- 9:15Speaker 4: to sit and watch the Vilain because I'm sure there's
- 9:17Speaker 4: a lot of issues to sit there and correct because
- 9:19Speaker 4: we've been ran on a few times this year. But
- 9:21Speaker 4: it's like, if we get if we're sacrificing the run
- 9:23Speaker 4: game of holding the three points and keeping that and
- 9:25Speaker 4: keeping Jordan.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Uh Lemons mkayle Lemon and.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Kayle Lemon quarterback Jordan Mylotta, yeah, yeah, but keeping that
- 9:35Speaker 4: offense through the air where we had them I want
- 9:38Speaker 4: to say he had less than two hundred yards on
- 9:40Speaker 4: the night, and keeping those receivers like they are athletic.
- 9:42Speaker 2: They're big.
- 9:43Speaker 4: We were contesting balls like the secondary showed the fuck up,
- 9:46Speaker 4: and I was just so excited. I was like, Yo,
- 9:49Speaker 4: we we look nice right now. We got to come
- 9:51Speaker 4: out of halftime because we got the ball coming out half.
- 9:52Speaker 4: We had like two good first drives and then USC's
- 9:55Speaker 4: defense kind of showed up, was kind of stuffing us.
- 9:58Speaker 4: But to get to half fourteen six with the ball
- 10:01Speaker 4: coming out, I mean nothing, but.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Just was hot. Gentlemen. God Emmett Johnson, do you have
- 10:10Speaker 2: thirty eight touches? Almost?
- 10:11Speaker 4: He almost had thirty carries once he hit twenty five
- 10:16Speaker 4: and scored. I'm like, we were saying that he's got
- 10:17Speaker 4: to touch the ball thirty times and he was running
- 10:20Speaker 4: pissed off. The old line showed up way better than
- 10:23Speaker 4: they have all year long. And then the third quarter happens.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Delan Rayela breaks his fibula.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Our offensive, Yeah, Latif comes in with a moment for
- 10:32Speaker 2: him to come in just honestly.
- 10:34Speaker 4: What is brutal situation to walk into as a true freshman?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Do what?
- 10:40Speaker 6: Everything else is gonna feel like a breeze for him.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, it's coming to that moment. Yeah, he'll be
- 10:45Speaker 4: ready to go this next week. You see La back home.
- 10:47Speaker 4: He's from Compton, California, and then we lost our We
- 10:51Speaker 4: lost pritch At our left tackle, which we've lost. You know,
- 10:54Speaker 4: we were on our third offensive tackle with an inconsistent
- 10:57Speaker 4: offensive line throughout the year.
- 10:59Speaker 1: But the week before that, you lost your right tackle
- 11:01Speaker 1: as well.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Correct, Yeah, lost their right tackle to an acl Then
- 11:05Speaker 4: we lost Pritchett last week, big number fifty seven, damn.
- 11:10Speaker 4: And the boys still kept fucking fighting.
- 11:12Speaker 2: They did.
- 11:13Speaker 4: They kept fighting, and that's what I was excited about.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Because once the game ends, you know, the outpour of
- 11:20Speaker 4: negativity ensues, right and for the Husker fan base, there'll
- 11:24Speaker 4: be some There are some Husker fans that were negative,
- 11:27Speaker 4: but there were something that like loved to fight. Like
- 11:29Speaker 4: you know this, it was sadness. The word at the
- 11:32Speaker 4: end of the game was sadness. It wasn't disappointment, it
- 11:35Speaker 4: wasn't all these other things.
- 11:35Speaker 2: But for a lot of people, like I want to say,
- 11:37Speaker 2: there's one motherfucker over there at on three just immediately
- 11:40Speaker 2: when the game ended, couldn't wait to put up Nebraska's
- 11:43Speaker 2: record against top twenty five teams, Matt Rules record against
- 11:46Speaker 2: top twenty five teams like that.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Stuff poured on us right away. But watching that game
- 11:52Speaker 4: finish to end or beginning to end, Like I was
- 11:56Speaker 4: proud of the fight, but just sad. On the way home,
- 12:00Speaker 4: stood outside.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Face was painted. There's a light rain coming down by
- 12:04Speaker 2: that point of the night, and I just was looking up.
- 12:06Speaker 4: I got out of the truck. The headlights were still long.
- 12:09Speaker 4: They hadn't shut off yet, so I just stood in
- 12:11Speaker 4: front of the headlights and just looked up to the
- 12:13Speaker 4: sky and thought and and just said out loud, one
- 12:17Speaker 4: day we will win this whole fucking thing.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Just not tonight.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Just not tonight, because that's where it's it's see said
- 12:24Speaker 4: playoffs are over. Oh they were never a playoff team, Like, okay, yes,
- 12:28Speaker 4: that's obviously fair.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Now no it's not.
- 12:30Speaker 1: We would have That is not a fair statement at all.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Never a playoff team is crazy. No, RelA doesn't get.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Hurt in that game.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You guys win that game.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Listen, we play at U C l A.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but we're aligned.
- 12:41Speaker 2: But now we've lost three, so now it is you are.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Now you are no longer playoff team. But you guys
- 12:46Speaker 1: were absolutely the way you played USC.
- 12:48Speaker 2: You don't have I know.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But there's also a podcast taking place right now where
- 12:53Speaker 1: people are thinking, hey, that's crazy, Like, you guys, you
- 12:57Speaker 1: guys shut down a great quarterback and two outstanding wide
- 13:01Speaker 1: receivers and said, Okay, if we're gonna die by a store,
- 13:02Speaker 1: it's gonna be in the run game. You guys handled that.
- 13:04Speaker 1: You're you're back in your defense is awesome. Your offensive line,
- 13:07Speaker 1: who has been hurt, beating up bruise and and uh yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 1: taking care of a couple of games, stood up the
- 13:15Speaker 1: way we didn't expect them to. Emmitt Johnson did exactly
- 13:17Speaker 1: what he was.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Supposed to do.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Delan Roola stays healthy in this game. We're talking about
- 13:21Speaker 1: a Nebraska win going to UCLA, who had a lot
- 13:24Speaker 1: of firepower a few weeks ago. Now it's kind of
- 13:26Speaker 1: like got a little more quiet. You go there, it's
- 13:28Speaker 1: a revenge game. And then you have Penn State. Dude,
- 13:31Speaker 1: you guys were absolutely a playoff team this year. It
- 13:34Speaker 1: just the way it worked out.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It's like it's like saying that first half.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Was going on and I was like, hey, we're taking
- 13:41Speaker 4: care of the rest of this schedule. Yes, yes, and
- 13:43Speaker 4: then once zero struck it's kind of there's you know,
- 13:46Speaker 4: it's gonna be very interesting to see how this team
- 13:49Speaker 4: shows up the rest of the year, Like how any
- 13:51Speaker 4: team shows up the rest of the year once they
- 13:52Speaker 4: do get their third loss or fourth loss, where they're
- 13:55Speaker 4: they're fully out of it. Yeah, just because bowl games,
- 13:58Speaker 4: Like it's gonna be awesome to go to a ball
- 14:00Speaker 4: but the bowl games aren't what the bowl games used
- 14:02Speaker 4: to be whatsoever. It's like it's playoffs or bust for
- 14:05Speaker 4: a lot of these teams who were sitting there with
- 14:06Speaker 4: a couple losses.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Uh, so it to be.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Interesting to see. I'm very excited to see TJ Latif play.
- 14:13Speaker 4: You know, he came in a very like that. Coming
- 14:16Speaker 4: into a game like that brutal for any true freshman.
- 14:20Speaker 4: But I'm excited, like when he when we played the
- 14:22Speaker 4: Nobodies at the beginning of the year and he was
- 14:24Speaker 4: playing in the second half like he looked sharp. I'm
- 14:26Speaker 4: excited to see a full game playing around him.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Dude.
- 14:29Speaker 4: There was one play that I dropped in that group
- 14:31Speaker 4: chat that we had for the stream bro where when
- 14:33Speaker 4: he fumbled the snap and I'm just like, you know what,
- 14:36Speaker 4: freshman like that, those players are gonna happen. But when
- 14:39Speaker 4: I saw that play, like on Twitter the next day,
- 14:43Speaker 4: USC was in cover zero sending the house, and we
- 14:46Speaker 4: had a middle screen that was going to.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Be wide open, wide open, spicy like he's got that's fast.
- 14:57Speaker 2: He brings it a dynamic that Dylan didn't have as
- 14:59Speaker 2: far with his legs.
- 15:01Speaker 5: If they can run some r P O with him
- 15:03Speaker 5: and yeah and make people play on the line, he
- 15:07Speaker 5: can also throw it.
- 15:09Speaker 7: They might.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I don't know, big opportunity for him.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, nine and threes alive with the Huskers for sure.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yeah, nine and three is a live to me. It's
- 15:19Speaker 4: just the mentality, like, yeah, it's the mentality of the
- 15:22Speaker 4: team showing up, like it'll be interesting to see how
- 15:25Speaker 4: the team shows up the rest of the year. Knowing
- 15:27Speaker 4: that nine and three is very much alive. It doesn't
- 15:29Speaker 4: matter if you don't have Dylan, because latif like he's
- 15:33Speaker 4: got his own game. I'm sure he's excited to play.
- 15:35Speaker 4: I feel like everybody around him will elevate their game
- 15:38Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 15:38Speaker 5: You guys play Indiana.
- 15:40Speaker 2: No, we have U c l A Penn State and Iowa.
- 15:45Speaker 1: At Penn State. But then Iowa's in Lincoln.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all three I think will be tough. All three,
- 15:52Speaker 2: I think I think U.
- 15:53Speaker 4: C l A will be tough because you just have
- 15:55Speaker 4: a very draining, emotional game where it did. It felt
- 15:58Speaker 4: like everything was poured into the game and the boys
- 16:00Speaker 4: showed up for a fucking fistfight to whard. Now you've
- 16:03Speaker 4: got to travel out to UCLA, get up for that game,
- 16:06Speaker 4: stay up for that game. Then you'll have a bye week.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Then you play at Penn State, which their roster is
- 16:12Speaker 4: still their roster, like they're still gonna have cats. And
- 16:15Speaker 4: then I was there.
- 16:16Speaker 1: They had a really competitive first half against Ohio State,
- 16:18Speaker 1: like they look they looked good. Yeah, but the same
- 16:22Speaker 1: thing took it like at in the second half when
- 16:24Speaker 1: Ohio State continue to punch him in the mouth. It's
- 16:25Speaker 1: like these guys and it's so hard for those players
- 16:28Speaker 1: to continue to stand up weekend and week out. After
- 16:31Speaker 1: so many dominoes have fell in the direction of negativity.
- 16:34Speaker 1: They just eventually are like, yeah, we're not winning this game.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You just kind of see it fold away. That's how
- 16:37Speaker 1: you beat Penn State. At Penn State, you hit him
- 16:39Speaker 1: in the mouth over and over again. You break their will,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and it's like you can you can do that with
- 16:43Speaker 1: that team. You still late, this is a revenge game,
- 16:45Speaker 1: you said, Latif he's coming back home. He's from Compton,
- 16:48Speaker 1: and a quarterback that uses his legs, that's coming in
- 16:51Speaker 1: for a quarterback that really didn't use his legs, having
- 16:53Speaker 1: a week of preparation to get the RPO, the options
- 16:57Speaker 1: like moments in that game that they're not gonna they're
- 17:01Speaker 1: not gonna know what to expect from you, right right.
- 17:02Speaker 4: There are even a couple moments in that game to
- 17:04Speaker 4: where he made something like, you know, he get the
- 17:06Speaker 4: first down just by running like knowing it's kind of
- 17:09Speaker 4: a broken play and just quick enough to get past
- 17:11Speaker 4: the first down marker. It was tough, though, Bro, God,
- 17:14Speaker 4: it was fucking I wanted that one so badly, so
- 17:18Speaker 4: badly man, And then for Emmett Johnson unfortunately trip on
- 17:23Speaker 4: that fourth and one. My heart broke for the young
- 17:26Speaker 4: man because you know, he just he put that he
- 17:28Speaker 4: was in that moment.
- 17:29Speaker 2: You know, he was putting that all on him. Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I hated to see that. I hated to see that
- 17:35Speaker 2: for him because he is an absolute dog, bro. He
- 17:38Speaker 2: is good.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Like people are talking, he could potentially work his way
- 17:41Speaker 4: into All American this year. He's out of a player.
- 17:45Speaker 4: But brutal loss came home, walked in likes everything was off.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Charles in bed reading the book and I just walk
- 17:51Speaker 4: in my room, face still painted, quietly shut the door,
- 17:54Speaker 4: and she just she looks up. She says, I'm sorry, babe,
- 17:57Speaker 4: and I'm like me too, I'm gonna go wash my
- 18:01Speaker 4: face paint. Dude, that one day, sweetheart, I told her,
- 18:08Speaker 4: I say, hey, maybe one day this pain will all
- 18:11Speaker 4: be worth it.
- 18:13Speaker 2: One day this pain will all be worth.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Just looking at her book, were you reading the same
- 18:16Speaker 1: line over and over again?
- 18:17Speaker 4: Because we are we are like it's coming. One thing
- 18:21Speaker 4: I did have one thing that I thought.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Sucked that I will say, you gotta go for it
- 18:27Speaker 2: on fourth and one, when you're in enemy territory, you
- 18:31Speaker 2: gotta go.
- 18:31Speaker 4: We tried for a fifty two yard field go and
- 18:33Speaker 4: missed it. But in that situation, I'm thinking, dude, just
- 18:37Speaker 4: go for it.
- 18:38Speaker 2: What part of the game was this four third fourth court?
- 18:41Speaker 2: Latif was in?
- 18:43Speaker 1: Okay, Latif was in?
- 18:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Latifa.
- 18:45Speaker 1: What was the score of the game at that time?
- 18:48Speaker 2: God U s up or down? Such a blur, It's
- 18:51Speaker 2: all such a blur.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I want to say, uh, because they won that game?
- 18:55Speaker 4: What twenty one seventeen? I want to say at that point.
- 18:57Speaker 4: It might have been seventeen to fourteen. Yeah, seventeen to fourteen.
- 19:03Speaker 1: You understand the logic, right, tied up well, defense is
- 19:06Speaker 1: playing well versus you know, an offense that puts up
- 19:08Speaker 1: forty plus points a game.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, fourth and one, fourth and two, you're in enemy territory.
- 19:14Speaker 4: You're staring at a fifty two yard field goal. We
- 19:17Speaker 4: burned two time outs that series, so that killed us.
- 19:19Speaker 4: So then you call time out and then go for
- 19:21Speaker 4: the field goal. I'm just like, you gotta go for it.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah, which is interesting to hear you say, because you're
- 19:27Speaker 1: always a guy that I can. You're always like, hey,
- 19:29Speaker 1: take the points, your take the points.
- 19:31Speaker 2: But again, it was fifty two yards true, fair enough.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Fourth and one.
- 19:34Speaker 4: We weren't in like the red zone guy and early
- 19:37Speaker 4: in the game where it's like get.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Your points, get your points. Yeah me.
- 19:40Speaker 4: It's like you have the backup quarterback and you've been
- 19:43Speaker 4: kind of inconsistent, shaky with moving the ball offensively throughout
- 19:47Speaker 4: that point.
- 19:47Speaker 2: You're now in enemy territory.
- 19:49Speaker 4: It's fourth and one or fourth and two, like, cook
- 19:53Speaker 4: something up, yeah, cook something up and keep the drive alive.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I can't. The thing that bothers me the most about
- 19:59Speaker 1: everyth you just said was the fact that as soon
- 20:01Speaker 1: as the game struck zero, as soon as it was over,
- 20:04Speaker 1: that there's a level of negativity that comes out because
- 20:07Speaker 1: I was watching that game. But then once I saw
- 20:09Speaker 1: how like Michigan was playing against Purdue, my panic mode
- 20:12Speaker 1: kind of said it, and I was like, oh, we
- 20:13Speaker 1: got going over here, And so I kind of like
- 20:16Speaker 1: wasn't as into the game as I probably should have been.
- 20:18Speaker 1: But like, everything that I saw was a defense that
- 20:21Speaker 1: played up to the level against an offense that is
- 20:23Speaker 1: number one or top three in the entire country, an
- 20:26Speaker 1: offense that was moving the ball between the twenties. It
- 20:28Speaker 1: seemed like at ease at points doing the exact game
- 20:31Speaker 1: plan that we talked about that will make you successful.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And so it's like, yeah, you guys should have absolutely
- 20:36Speaker 1: won that game. Real estates hell with you in that game?
- 20:39Speaker 2: Who's the Who's the corner?
- 20:40Speaker 4: Is it Marshall that I was shouting out the cornerback
- 20:44Speaker 4: blitz when he picked it off, just to just go
- 20:48Speaker 4: to that.
- 20:50Speaker 2: But dude, here's another thing I love to see.
- 20:53Speaker 4: And I can't shout out this secondary enough for showing
- 20:57Speaker 4: up that game, because that's that's a that's an off.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Some skill positions were I'd seen Andrew Marshall where it
- 21:03Speaker 4: feels like all those boys will be playing on Sunday.
- 21:06Speaker 1: A lot of Marshall's out there, or Andrew Marshall.
- 21:09Speaker 4: So we we were sending a couple of cornerback blitzes
- 21:12Speaker 4: and uh, the Q was doing a great job like us.
- 21:16Speaker 4: He is very tough in that RPO scheme, and the
- 21:18Speaker 4: minute the corner corner would take off, it's like he's
- 21:20Speaker 4: he's faking the handoff and then going right out to
- 21:22Speaker 4: the receiver.
- 21:24Speaker 2: One he baited him.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Marshall baited him like he was going He went like
- 21:28Speaker 4: a few yards like once the ball snapped and then
- 21:30Speaker 4: sunk back picked it off and bro I was just sood.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It was great man.
- 21:35Speaker 7: Yea California do what California?
- 21:40Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I know we have I think right right
- 21:43Speaker 4: transferred from USC. But I felt like the skill positions
- 21:47Speaker 4: across the board to offensively just they were like bringing
- 21:50Speaker 4: the fight to USC, which was juicing me up, especially
- 21:52Speaker 4: in that blackout environment.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah, black it needs to happen more. That looks so awesome.
- 21:58Speaker 2: They do the.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Drones, the drone, the whole thing.
- 22:02Speaker 4: This is when we said we needed everybody. They we
- 22:04Speaker 4: threw the kitchen sink at this game. Bro, we through
- 22:08Speaker 4: the kitchen sink at this game. But you know, gotta
- 22:11Speaker 4: beat UCLA.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Gotta beat gotta beat We need everybody.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Yeah, gotta get up for this game. Have to get up.
- 22:18Speaker 4: There's no time to bleed. There's no time to bleed.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Right in the bowl game too. It's I know you said, like, hey,
- 22:23Speaker 1: bull games are still exciting, Like you guys have to
- 22:26Speaker 1: checked the box a bowl game, and I know this
- 22:27Speaker 1: season is not what you want it to be, but
- 22:30Speaker 1: it's like you go nine and three. The conversation all
- 22:34Speaker 1: offseason is like real Estate's healthy world playoff football team.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Not only are we playoff, who knows how far we go?
- 22:39Speaker 1: We're a game away.
- 22:41Speaker 4: And so that is my question is more of like
- 22:43Speaker 4: I'll be curious what it seems like with the mentality
- 22:45Speaker 4: of these teams when they are out of the college
- 22:47Speaker 4: football playoffs.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, not like they're gonna quit.
- 22:50Speaker 1: You're gonna find out the culture of the team if they.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Can keep inspired football, continue to play inspired football.
- 22:57Speaker 5: But you got I was just gonna ask how the
- 23:00Speaker 5: Michigan game went because we didn't really watch a ton
- 23:02Speaker 5: of it. Yeah, dude, I know, I don't want to
- 23:04Speaker 5: cut you.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Off because we had it was like we had the
- 23:07Speaker 4: Nebraska game on. I want to say, we had the
- 23:08Speaker 4: World Series game on, and then we had Tennessee, Oklahoma,
- 23:11Speaker 4: and we're kind of keeping up with the Purdue Michigan
- 23:13Speaker 4: game and it seemed.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Like, yeah, it was close like the game. So the
- 23:17Speaker 1: game for us was never like it never felt like
- 23:20Speaker 1: Purdue was going to like take the lead. And I
- 23:22Speaker 1: thought that Michigan did a good job of, Hey, coming out,
- 23:24Speaker 1: you're playing against a secondary that's not very good. Let's
- 23:27Speaker 1: get some more reps under Bryce's belt of like more
- 23:30Speaker 1: complex passing schemes, throwing the ball a little bit more.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And it was definitely a game where you sit there
- 23:36Speaker 1: and go, oh, yeah, he's a freshman and that. And
- 23:39Speaker 1: the thing that upsets me is like we're now in
- 23:40Speaker 1: week nine and he's having these kind of we're thrusting
- 23:44Speaker 1: them into Hey, we need this quarterback to develop from
- 23:46Speaker 1: a passing standpoint, But we waited till week nine to
- 23:49Speaker 1: really start having him throw the ball a lot. And
- 23:52Speaker 1: I think our receiving cord did a great job of
- 23:54Speaker 1: getting open they I thought the offensive scheme was really
- 23:58Speaker 1: good for this game as far as play calling go.
- 24:00Speaker 1: But Bryce unfortunately was just missing throws. He had one
- 24:03Speaker 1: to uh McCaulay number one, who just he just missed.
- 24:06Speaker 1: He beat his receiver, he had separation on that. There
- 24:09Speaker 1: was a broken play. He rolled out to the right,
- 24:11Speaker 1: there was marsh in the back of the end zone.
- 24:13Speaker 1: No one was around him. He decides to check it down,
- 24:15Speaker 1: gets picked off. We get into the red zone. He
- 24:18Speaker 1: goes to run the ball, scramble to get a first down.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It's like, all right, this kid, he's using his legs,
- 24:21Speaker 1: he's realizing he's taking the next step, realizing, okay, I
- 24:24Speaker 1: need to get out of the get out of the
- 24:25Speaker 1: pocket and move forward. The ball gets hit, out, gets
- 24:28Speaker 1: hit as he's fallen to the ground, goes into the
- 24:30Speaker 1: back of the end zone. Touch back for Purdue. So
- 24:33Speaker 1: it was just one of those games you look at
- 24:35Speaker 1: it's like you never make an excuse for winning, like, hey,
- 24:37Speaker 1: we won the game. That's exciting. Our hopes and dreams
- 24:40Speaker 1: are still alive of making the playoffs. But you're just
- 24:42Speaker 1: like we piece of me. He's like, man, I wish
- 24:45Speaker 1: we would have threw him in the fire a little
- 24:47Speaker 1: bit more against these New Mexicos, against these other smaller
- 24:50Speaker 1: schools to where we get into these back half of
- 24:52Speaker 1: these games where we're going if we were going to
- 24:54Speaker 1: play Ohio State competitively, because Ohio State. I watched the
- 24:57Speaker 1: entire Penn State Ohio State game like the as complete
- 25:00Speaker 1: of a team as there are there is in college football.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Then I know we wonts and the aliens, Bro after
- 25:07Speaker 1: the ball's tips, is that what you're talking about? The
- 25:09Speaker 1: kid you got Jeremi Cardinal tape bro, and they did
- 25:13Speaker 1: a they did a thing on him before the game
- 25:15Speaker 1: started about his mom getting shot in Chicago, and every
- 25:18Speaker 1: time he gets a first down or touchdown, he like
- 25:19Speaker 1: kisses and puts this guy for his mom and how
- 25:22Speaker 1: his mom was so supportive in his life. Then the
- 25:24Speaker 1: kid continues to go off versus Penn State like they
- 25:28Speaker 1: have got a ranking crew out there, and then saying kid,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I tweeted out, I don't know if this kid's electric
- 25:33Speaker 1: or he just has aliens around him, but he throws it, Bro,
- 25:36Speaker 1: He throws a beautiful football. So I'm watching all this
- 25:39Speaker 1: and it's like we won last year because Ryan Day's
- 25:43Speaker 1: ego decided to be like, we're gonna play the same
- 25:45Speaker 1: game as Michigan and they got punched in the mouth
- 25:47Speaker 1: like that. They tried to run the ball against us,
- 25:50Speaker 1: and we just continue to keep it close that way.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I don't I don't see Ryan Day making that same
- 25:56Speaker 1: mistake again, and we're gonna need some sort of passing
- 25:59Speaker 1: threat and able to like you know, continues to five
- 26:01Speaker 1: game win streak. So I just I'm not an apologize
- 26:05Speaker 1: for winning. I think our defense is elite, especially when
- 26:08Speaker 1: that Jahn Barsham kid, he's number one. He got hurt
- 26:11Speaker 1: first series of the game. It's like an upper body injury.
- 26:14Speaker 1: McCauley comes out with an injury. All of our Titans
- 26:17Speaker 1: we're on our third string tight end are We're on
- 26:19Speaker 1: our like third and four string linebackers except for that
- 26:22Speaker 1: Ernest They get that transfer from Nebraska, who's a dog.
- 26:26Speaker 1: And so you know, it's the Bible's coming out of
- 26:29Speaker 1: right at the right time. But we gotta just there's
- 26:32Speaker 1: gotta be another development of Bryce if we're gonna go
- 26:35Speaker 1: and you know, compete for a playoff a playoff spot.
- 26:38Speaker 5: So who's left on the schedule.
- 26:40Speaker 1: We got Northwestern in uh at Wrigley Field, We've got
- 26:45Speaker 1: Maryland and then Ohio State at Maryland. Maryland just fired
- 26:49Speaker 1: their head coach. Yeah crazy, But the game, the game itself,
- 26:54Speaker 1: like Jordan Marshall, like like Justice Haynes. He he didn't
- 26:58Speaker 1: play in the game. He ended up getting surgery. He's
- 27:00Speaker 1: think surgery. Who knows if he's gonna be there for
- 27:01Speaker 1: their hot State game or not. Marshall wants for one
- 27:03Speaker 1: eighty five. He has like one hundred and eighty maybe
- 27:05Speaker 1: one sixty five, one hundred and eighty five all purpose yards.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Like our run games come alive and it stayed consistent.
- 27:11Speaker 1: There's been there was a couple of throws. You go, okay, yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 1: there it is, but just some mister reads here and
- 27:15Speaker 1: there that are just above me when it comes to
- 27:17Speaker 1: quarterback development. But you just want to see that next
- 27:20Speaker 1: step taken these next two games going into because both
- 27:22Speaker 1: these games are very, very winnable. It's just about can
- 27:26Speaker 1: we show the development on the offensive side of the
- 27:28Speaker 1: ball so we're not so one dimensional because I think
- 27:30Speaker 1: we have a championship caliber defense. Our defense is that good.
- 27:33Speaker 1: It's just about getting this kid to, yeah, you know,
- 27:37Speaker 1: be who we think he is, and I think he
- 27:39Speaker 1: is him it was just it was tough to watch
- 27:41Speaker 1: this game and not walk away being like, damn, there's
- 27:44Speaker 1: a couple of throws here or there. He's just a
- 27:46Speaker 1: freshman man, so we'll see.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Yeah, if you guys can get to Ohio State as
- 27:49Speaker 4: a two lost team like that, it's like the crop
- 27:51Speaker 4: of Michigan, Ohio State, but Indiana, Oregon USC.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and Washington. Washington's right now, correct, Yeah, they're ranked.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Washington has to play Oregon still, and Washington always kind
- 28:06Speaker 1: of does well against Oregon. There's a lot to play
- 28:09Speaker 1: Washington right now.
- 28:11Speaker 4: No, no, no, Oregon's already played Indiana. Yeah, but they
- 28:14Speaker 4: still got to play Washington. They still gotta play USC.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Like it'll be uh, it'll be fun, it'll be fun.
- 28:20Speaker 1: This feels like this feels like it's gonna be Ohio
- 28:23Speaker 1: State in Indiana in the Big Ten Championship and then
- 28:27Speaker 1: I don't know who wins that game. I think Ohio
- 28:30Speaker 1: State wins that game. State. Dude, their defense, I think
- 28:35Speaker 1: they've the first eight games, they've hold every held every
- 28:37Speaker 1: team under seventeen points. It's just so impressive.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they're defenses for real.
- 28:44Speaker 1: They are They are absolutely for real.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Matt Patricia incredible higher in the season, one knows left
- 28:49Speaker 4: to go to Penn State, which is crazy, and then
- 28:53Speaker 4: you got the SEC now SEC shaken or rattle in
- 28:56Speaker 4: the tree a little bit, Texas handling Vandy.
- 29:00Speaker 1: And then Vandy having a spark of life coming back again. Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 1: but it seemed like a little referee love huh and
- 29:06Speaker 1: d the two point was crazy, nuts man, dude. And
- 29:11Speaker 1: hey the on side kick, Bro, they literally almost.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Had it so sick.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I know they cut Yeah, if they would have came
- 29:18Speaker 4: back that game, Bro, it's nuts because arch Manning.
- 29:22Speaker 1: It's it's like as much as things changed, they stayed
- 29:25Speaker 1: the same. Like Texas is very much in it and
- 29:27Speaker 1: can be a team like in the playoffs all year, bro.
- 29:31Speaker 2: And one thing, but also the offense kind of coming along,
- 29:35Speaker 2: Like arch Manning's had like close to around what seven
- 29:38Speaker 2: hundred yards and like six touchdown the last two games. Yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 2: and I mean say, like Vandy.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Everyone says Vandy is not built to come back, and
- 29:45Speaker 1: obviously they didn't come back enough to win this game,
- 29:48Speaker 1: but they made it interesting at the end because they
- 29:50Speaker 1: were getting blown out earlier, where you see a lot
- 29:52Speaker 1: of twitter everyone's like, well, this game is over. Vanny's
- 29:54Speaker 1: not built to come back and diego Pavia. Man, something happened.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Something's going on with the back end of that defense
- 30:01Speaker 1: because they just allowed things to happen. It'll be interesting.
- 30:04Speaker 1: It'll be interesting. Everyone's kind of fighting for the life
- 30:06Speaker 1: of the SEC the ACC did you hey?
- 30:09Speaker 4: But also before we get off the SEC. I I
- 30:13Speaker 4: get having integrity and having some respect. But if you're
- 30:18Speaker 4: up four, dude, and this cover and the spread is
- 30:22Speaker 4: seven and a half, and you just you're on the
- 30:24Speaker 4: one yard line, Georgia Bulldogs, I need you to score.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, goddess, yes, absolutely.
- 30:29Speaker 4: If you're outside the five yard line, I get it.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Take yeah, I get taken any. But you on the
- 30:35Speaker 4: one yard.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Line, score score, take any and then score the next play, right, Yeah,
- 30:41Speaker 5: I don't care, but you gotta score.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And dude, you have Florida. I mean they played they
- 30:44Speaker 1: played a good game there. Georgia is just one of
- 30:47Speaker 1: those teams that no one everyone refuses to look at.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Everyone's like Georgia is just over there ignoring mc norman.
- 30:52Speaker 1: They just continue to win games.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Because they have all these like close games, but they
- 30:56Speaker 2: just they just win. Yeah. I feel like they should
- 30:59Speaker 2: have beat up on Florida a little bit more than
- 31:01Speaker 2: what they did.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Florida's got I mean, the the question isn't has never
- 31:06Speaker 3: been Florida's roster. Like they have a very like they're
- 31:10Speaker 3: a really good team. It's just they can't, for whatever reason,
- 31:13Speaker 3: put it together.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's like take off that uniform and you
- 31:19Speaker 4: put on like the Penn State uniform. Nobody talks about
- 31:21Speaker 4: Penn State like that way. We might acknowledge that they
- 31:23Speaker 4: still have a roster, but nobody's sitting there and being like, hey,
- 31:27Speaker 4: Penn State is still tough. They just haven't put it together.
- 31:30Speaker 4: People just continue to just stomp on them down there.
- 31:33Speaker 4: When you get beat by u c l A.
- 31:36Speaker 5: It's kind of hard to defend Penn State.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean Florida, Florida, Georgia.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Have they played all this like they've gotten beat by teams.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I mean, us SEF is not that at the time
- 31:52Speaker 2: they were u c l A.
- 31:55Speaker 4: At the time when they beat Penn State, they were
- 31:57Speaker 4: like undefeated. Well, since they made their coaching.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Change, I think that I think that was the first
- 32:03Speaker 2: three game.
- 32:04Speaker 1: That was the first game the.
- 32:07Speaker 7: Coach.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, what do we think about Florida?
- 32:10Speaker 4: They I mean l s U. That's a fraudulent LSU team.
- 32:14Speaker 4: When they lost to them twenty to ten, they only
- 32:16Speaker 4: scored ten points.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, the SEC is wild right now.
- 32:23Speaker 4: This is where those conversations start to come in of
- 32:26Speaker 4: the when it starts like and once it gets into
- 32:28Speaker 4: the off season, the big ten SEC.
- 32:30Speaker 2: I do think the SEC is deeper. But when we're
- 32:33Speaker 2: when we're getting to a points where it's like, hey,
- 32:36Speaker 2: Florida is still a great football team, is like, no,
- 32:39Speaker 2: they're not.
- 32:39Speaker 5: The SEC deep there in Auburn, l s U and
- 32:44Speaker 5: Florida fired their head coaches.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I know, bro, all these that are open now. Hey, Jack,
- 32:50Speaker 4: what's the deal with Hypel coming up?
- 32:53Speaker 7: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 32:54Speaker 1: People say, yeah, people having the conversation about Hype not
- 32:56Speaker 1: being the guy. That's insane to me.
- 32:58Speaker 8: That's just that's just classic Tennessee Twitter rhetoric. Just just
- 33:02Speaker 8: fans that are frustrated and upset. After that could go
- 33:06Speaker 8: down as one of his worst losses as his tenure.
- 33:09Speaker 8: Obviously he went to Oklahoma. That was a big prove
- 33:12Speaker 8: a game in Nyland. Night Mode supposed to shut down
- 33:16Speaker 8: my tear. He's running everywhere everywhere, the cells, around every corner,
- 33:21Speaker 8: we can so many just small mistakes. They were giving
- 33:26Speaker 8: them opportunities to score. We could have gone up fourteen
- 33:28Speaker 8: to Ohero real quick in the first quarter. Have that fumble,
- 33:32Speaker 8: their guy tears a hammy, still puts eighty yards on
- 33:35Speaker 8: the field, gets to the end zone.
- 33:37Speaker 2: It was just that.
- 33:44Speaker 8: Max Gilbert misses a huge kick for us.
- 33:48Speaker 7: Their kicker was on fire.
- 33:50Speaker 8: It's it's brutal, yeah, to have away team come in.
- 33:54Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure what was this said. I think it
- 33:56Speaker 8: was Oklahoma's first away SEC win in s and since
- 34:00Speaker 8: they've joined the SEC, which you don't want to be
- 34:02Speaker 8: the fence team to give up the loss.
- 34:04Speaker 2: And the first time that they've scored over a certain
- 34:06Speaker 2: amount of points. Yeah, I think it was seventeen.
- 34:10Speaker 8: Yeah, brutal, brutal, and like it felt like we were
- 34:14Speaker 8: in it the whole time until it just we weren't.
- 34:17Speaker 8: I mean, I don't even want to talk about Matt
- 34:19Speaker 8: Malone and what he did at the stream. So Chef, obviously,
- 34:24Speaker 8: Chef being the cycle of that he is, Chef was like,
- 34:26Speaker 8: I'm going to listen to the rest of the game
- 34:28Speaker 8: on the radio. I think there was maybe two and
- 34:30Speaker 8: a half minutes left.
- 34:31Speaker 4: He will Also, remember Tennessee scoring chef was out of
- 34:33Speaker 4: the stream room, so everybody's like, you have to stay
- 34:35Speaker 4: out there.
- 34:35Speaker 8: Yeah, But essentially Matt Malone has the remote and decides
- 34:41Speaker 8: to turn off the Tennessee game when there's probably a
- 34:44Speaker 8: minute and forty eight seconds left. Yeah, I'm trying to
- 34:47Speaker 8: be nice with that. And I'm like, I'm frustrated. On
- 34:50Speaker 8: my phone, I'm diving through Twitter seeing what what's going on.
- 34:53Speaker 8: And then I look up because Nebraskas has ended and
- 34:57Speaker 8: the World Series is going on, they put it on
- 34:58Speaker 8: the main TV and I'm like, where the fuck is
- 35:02Speaker 8: the Tennessee game? And mag was I turned that ship off?
- 35:04Speaker 2: Man, we're done? And I go I'm like, Jack's like,
- 35:10Speaker 2: it's not over, and I pulled up. I pulled out
- 35:12Speaker 2: my phone.
- 35:12Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, they just kicked a field goal down
- 35:15Speaker 4: six with over a minute left.
- 35:17Speaker 8: Like Matt Malone in the last few weeks has been
- 35:19Speaker 8: inching forwards to being like a bona fide Tennessee fan again,
- 35:24Speaker 8: and in that one moment he stripped everything, And honestly,
- 35:29Speaker 8: it could be a thing where I won't ever take
- 35:31Speaker 8: his fandom seriously for the remainder of life.
- 35:35Speaker 7: It will take a lot.
- 35:36Speaker 8: I gotta see what he's built for, especially in these
- 35:39Speaker 8: last three games that we have.
- 35:41Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 35:41Speaker 8: It was brutal the atmosphere, you know, and Nyland looked
- 35:45Speaker 8: all time, just like you were saying about Nebraska. I
- 35:47Speaker 8: thought the stream was so much fun. All the boys there,
- 35:50Speaker 8: two blackout teams just getting their dick kicked intogether. Yeah,
- 35:55Speaker 8: and you know, the the hopes of a playoff berth
- 35:59Speaker 8: are are now over. And you know the only thing
- 36:02Speaker 8: I can look forward to is that the Titans and
- 36:05Speaker 8: the Balls are both on the bye week this week.
- 36:08Speaker 1: So big week for jaff, big weekend.
- 36:11Speaker 6: God, I will be out of the state.
- 36:13Speaker 2: So yeah, the energy was good.
- 36:16Speaker 4: The energy was fun all stream. Yeah, because Nebraska started
- 36:19Speaker 4: first and oh my god, Broy start off three and out.
- 36:23Speaker 4: JP started off three and out and then a fourteen
- 36:26Speaker 4: play drive touchdown and we're just juice Bro take the
- 36:31Speaker 4: fight to him. Oh yeah, Garritt ends up coming in.
- 36:39Speaker 2: He's got to pull down.
- 36:40Speaker 8: Even Scarlett made it on stream from Yeah, it was
- 36:43Speaker 8: being awesome. Just we're screaming and she's just a sleeve,
- 36:47Speaker 8: just ship.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Dog.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Sounds like it was a lot of fun.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I was till it wasn't.
- 36:54Speaker 1: I was in hell Saturday the foot, Yeah, bro, people
- 36:59Speaker 1: pop aren't rest by Deylan Royola walking off the field,
- 37:01Speaker 1: throw throwing wristbands. People didn't see me Friday night with
- 37:05Speaker 1: my kids, full gout walking around and I'm in so
- 37:09Speaker 1: much pain after that, dude, it was it was. I
- 37:12Speaker 1: was in pain walking down on the way back, it
- 37:14Speaker 1: was like inches. I could barely walk up. I literally
- 37:16Speaker 1: thought about crawling at some point. And we get to Saturday.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I'll wake up in the morning, go to through my piss.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I put my foot on the ground, dude, and I'm
- 37:23Speaker 1: like even my heel, like my foot is so swollen.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I had to get crutches from downstairs. And I was
- 37:29Speaker 1: crutching around the house elevated foot all day long, looking
- 37:33Speaker 1: at the streamerund six o'clock like kind of jealous, like, man,
- 37:35Speaker 1: I kind of want to go to that, but I
- 37:37Speaker 1: couldn't move. I could not move. It was so horrendous.
- 37:40Speaker 7: What does it feel like, dude?
- 37:42Speaker 1: So gout is it's like a uric acid build up
- 37:45Speaker 1: in your bloodstream, and so when you have like sugar,
- 37:48Speaker 1: red meat, something else, like there's a uric acid build
- 37:53Speaker 1: up and it all goes down to like your lower
- 37:55Speaker 1: shimmer stood happened your hands or in your feet, and
- 37:58Speaker 1: it crystallizes in your joints, Like there's like little sharp
- 38:01Speaker 1: crystals in your foot that are like scraping, like essentially
- 38:07Speaker 1: irritating the joint. It feels like it like needles and it. Dude,
- 38:11Speaker 1: it was the worst pain ever I had. Nathan, my lawyer,
- 38:15Speaker 1: was in town with all his kids Saturday. I'm like,
- 38:16Speaker 1: you guys have fun.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Man.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I'm like in the man cave foot elevated. Anytime I
- 38:21Speaker 1: moved or anything. One kid came by and like accidentally
- 38:24Speaker 1: hit my foot almost cried like it was bro I
- 38:28Speaker 1: was in hell. I was in hell all weekend. Like
- 38:31Speaker 1: Bailey was able to walk today.
- 38:33Speaker 9: It's all King's diase.
- 38:34Speaker 1: King's disease, I know, dude. We were twenty twenty two
- 38:39Speaker 1: or yeah. We were playing the Jacksonville Jaguars and I
- 38:42Speaker 1: like Wednesday night we went had like olne dinner. Thursday,
- 38:45Speaker 1: wake up. I'm in so much pain and I'm like, hey,
- 38:48Speaker 1: I think I have turf toil like jam my toe.
- 38:50Speaker 1: And the Trader's like, hey, we think this is galt.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I get tested. The York acid isn't that high. But
- 38:55Speaker 1: that's when Rable comes up. He goes, got the King's disease? Huh,
- 38:58Speaker 1: And that's when I first learned about King's disease.
- 39:00Speaker 5: But dude, thinking about you hobbling around dressed as Dobby.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Bro I was hurting so bad I couldn't tell the time.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I thank you. Well, we'll cover it on Uhi.
- 39:11Speaker 1: We need to talk about football right now. Yeah, buddy,
- 39:14Speaker 1: I'm telling you I was in true hell, true hell
- 39:17Speaker 1: all weekend.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah, not about me.
- 39:19Speaker 1: It's about the kids though. Speaking of kids, Greg Olson,
- 39:21Speaker 1: just give Greg Wilson around.
- 39:22Speaker 2: The plaus Greg loves the kids.
- 39:24Speaker 1: How are we feeling, dude?
- 39:27Speaker 7: Doing good? Man, doing good?
- 39:28Speaker 1: How are you guys living the dream one day at
- 39:29Speaker 1: a time. I don't know if you heard about my
- 39:31Speaker 1: gout spell, but it's been a tough week.
- 39:33Speaker 7: I just heard you talking about it right now. How'd
- 39:34Speaker 7: you get gout?
- 39:35Speaker 2: Dude?
- 39:36Speaker 1: I have no idea. I truly have no idea, but
- 39:38Speaker 1: I got for the first time in twenty two have
- 39:41Speaker 1: had like three or four episodes, but this one started
- 39:44Speaker 1: Thursday morning.
- 39:44Speaker 2: When we're in New York and say we're flying back,
- 39:46Speaker 2: you're starting to feel at.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, like as like the show's going on on, Get up.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I'm I'm all right now, Like I'm I'm doubtful for
- 39:54Speaker 1: any game, but like I can't push off my foot,
- 39:57Speaker 1: but I can walk around. I was on crutches yesterday
- 39:59Speaker 1: and the day before. That's how bad it was. So
- 40:02Speaker 1: I'm a survivor.
- 40:03Speaker 10: Greg, Well, well, yeah, you're I mean, I have a
- 40:06Speaker 10: feeling if it was game day you'd figure it out.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no doubt.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:09Speaker 7: I've never seen a guy on the injury report gout.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I feel like you just can't.
- 40:16Speaker 7: You just have to just refuse to let that even
- 40:18Speaker 7: be real.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I will say when I did have GOT twenty twenty two,
- 40:21Speaker 1: we played Jacksonville. I ended up playing that entire game,
- 40:23Speaker 1: didn't miss a snap.
- 40:24Speaker 7: First, because that's what we do.
- 40:25Speaker 2: That's what we do. We play. Baby.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Hey Greg, I don't know if you know it, but
- 40:29Speaker 4: your squad, your team over there, you think sent me
- 40:34Speaker 4: a North County Raider, some North County Raider merchandise?
- 40:38Speaker 6: Was my height?
- 40:39Speaker 7: Aren't you wearing it?
- 40:40Speaker 2: I don't know. That's a great question. Now I saw
- 40:42Speaker 2: you pop on.
- 40:43Speaker 4: How'd you like it? I love it? I loved it.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I like hey Greg, Greg and his team. They sent
- 40:49Speaker 4: you this opened it up. I saw the Blue and
- 40:51Speaker 4: Gold and see Raiders and it it juiced me up.
- 40:54Speaker 7: Man to bring back a lot of good memories.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, Ani's.
- 40:59Speaker 7: Rock in the locker room before and after the game,
- 41:01Speaker 7: just getting after it.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Yeah oh yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 4: And then the Who's nuts, Like before kickoff, our our stands,
- 41:07Speaker 4: the bleachers, they'd just be stomping and be.
- 41:09Speaker 6: Like, who's nuts, Who's nuts?
- 41:12Speaker 2: Who's nuts?
- 41:13Speaker 4: As the ball's getting kicked off and you go, and
- 41:15Speaker 4: you know, obviously you're trying to deliver the biggest in
- 41:17Speaker 4: of your life and to earn the hitman's shirt for
- 41:21Speaker 4: the next week.
- 41:22Speaker 2: So a lot of memories, a lot of memories.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Yeah, club pulled up on me. He hit me in
- 41:27Speaker 1: a box. He goes, hey, this was sent to you
- 41:28Speaker 1: and it was a chaparale seventy seven from your company
- 41:31Speaker 1: as well, like nostalgia out the gate Man.
- 41:33Speaker 10: It's it's awesome to be able to get to be
- 41:35Speaker 10: able to get cool gear for your school, your travel
- 41:38Speaker 10: ball premium. It's I'm telling you, man, it's the only
- 41:43Speaker 10: place to People think we're crazy. People think we just
- 41:45Speaker 10: make sideline videos yelling at kids. But uh, there's a
- 41:50Speaker 10: bigger play in all this that I think is super cool.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you got the deonse And as we coming before
- 41:56Speaker 1: we get into football, I noticed you a little sunburn
- 41:58Speaker 1: going on. We yelled, wh where were you this weekend?
- 42:00Speaker 2: No?
- 42:00Speaker 10: You know what, I don't know why. Here here's my
- 42:03Speaker 10: only two thoughts. You're ready because it's funny. I just
- 42:06Speaker 10: I logged on and I was like, God, my face
- 42:08Speaker 10: looks red. Two possible scenarios, A little bit of a reflection. Yesterday,
- 42:12Speaker 10: it was a windy. It was overcast, but you know
- 42:15Speaker 10: how you get like a windy it was it's an
- 42:17Speaker 10: open booth in Green Bay, very windy, heavy cloud cover.
- 42:21Speaker 10: So not sunburn, but uh, maybe like wind in my face,
- 42:26Speaker 10: hair all over the place, maybe a little wind. I
- 42:29Speaker 10: also went went to the club this morning, did a
- 42:32Speaker 10: little like executive workout, did a little little sauna, little shower,
- 42:37Speaker 10: you know, just a little like freshen up on a Monday.
- 42:39Speaker 10: So maybe it's just to just to kind of the
- 42:41Speaker 10: residuals of just getting the body temperature up. I'm not
- 42:44Speaker 10: exactly sure why my face is red.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Bro, what is uh what's happening in Green Bay? You
- 42:50Speaker 4: called that game yesterday? Tough loss to the Panthers. You
- 42:54Speaker 4: even had a even had something up top where they're
- 42:56Speaker 4: talking about the coin flip where they're kicking the ball,
- 42:59Speaker 4: how it could end where they could be utilizing the
- 43:01Speaker 4: win in the end for a game winning kick.
- 43:03Speaker 2: It comes back around.
- 43:04Speaker 4: I see you going back and forth with somebody on
- 43:05Speaker 4: Twitter just being like, I what like you were on
- 43:07Speaker 4: top of that strategy and how much strategy does Just
- 43:11Speaker 4: listen to the broadcast they'd learn a lot. Yeah, I agree,
- 43:14Speaker 4: but talk to us about uh, talk to us about
- 43:17Speaker 4: covering that game yesterday in Green Bay is a loss
- 43:19Speaker 4: of the Panthers.
- 43:20Speaker 10: Man, Jesus, Yeah, I didn't see it coming. I'll be honest.
- 43:24Speaker 10: You know, I go neutral when I call Panther games.
- 43:28Speaker 10: You know, some Panther fans think I hate them. Some
- 43:30Speaker 10: The other team always thinks I'm a homer, which is fine.
- 43:33Speaker 10: I try to just call it like it is. I thought,
- 43:35Speaker 10: coming off that home loss, they looked bad against Buffalo,
- 43:38Speaker 10: banged up offensive line. They were getting Bryce back. I
- 43:42Speaker 10: thought the best thing they did was get Rico back.
- 43:45Speaker 10: You know, Rico dawdle instead of splitting carries with Chew.
- 43:48Speaker 10: But they just went right back to Rico getting all
- 43:50Speaker 10: the carries. I thought that was a great move by Canalis.
- 43:52Speaker 10: He's just needed to happen and listen the exact way the.
- 43:57Speaker 7: Game needed to be played.
- 43:58Speaker 10: If you're Carolina, muddy it up, take them into the mud,
- 44:02Speaker 10: slow it down, limited possessions, make them go the long way.
- 44:06Speaker 10: I mean, all the things that we set up at
- 44:07Speaker 10: the top of the broadcast. It's very funny that it
- 44:11Speaker 10: works out exactly how Canalis would dream it up, which is,
- 44:15Speaker 10: you know, most teams get about ten or eleven possessions
- 44:18Speaker 10: in a game. Green Bay had three in the first half,
- 44:21Speaker 10: eight total. That's a win for them. They were over
- 44:25Speaker 10: in the red zone. They settled for two field goals,
- 44:28Speaker 10: they missed the field goal, and they turned the ball
- 44:30Speaker 10: over twice like that was the formula for only giving
- 44:33Speaker 10: up thirteen points. If you were Carolina, I thought green
- 44:37Speaker 10: Bay tried to play the game Carolina's style. You know,
- 44:40Speaker 10: Carolina wanted to run it a thousand times. I think
- 44:42Speaker 10: they just threw for over one hundred yards, but that's
- 44:46Speaker 10: what they wanted to do, and then I think green
- 44:48Speaker 10: Bay came in. Jordan loves playing as good a ball
- 44:51Speaker 10: as anybody in the league. I think they're a better
- 44:53Speaker 10: pass protecting group than they are a run blocking group
- 44:55Speaker 10: up front. I think they're run games. Okay, they're not Overlea,
- 45:00Speaker 10: but their pass game is I don't know how much
- 45:03Speaker 10: the wind, I don't know how much the weather kind
- 45:05Speaker 10: of got to the floor and just didn't trust pushing
- 45:07Speaker 10: the ball. But they had their best success in the
- 45:10Speaker 10: quick game pass and I think every time you ran
- 45:13Speaker 10: the ball, every time you went first down run, you
- 45:16Speaker 10: played exactly the way Carolina wanted that game to be played.
- 45:19Speaker 10: And when it all came down to it, Bryce took
- 45:23Speaker 10: him down on a nice, you know, end of game
- 45:25Speaker 10: kind of minute third. It was just under the two
- 45:27Speaker 10: minute warning and forty nine yard field goal into the wind,
- 45:32Speaker 10: which we sat at the top of the broadcast. You know,
- 45:35Speaker 10: why win the toss and take the ball if you're
- 45:38Speaker 10: the Panther as well, twofold A, you want to keep
- 45:40Speaker 10: Green Bay's offense on the side. We just covered that.
- 45:42Speaker 10: But b by taking the ball when you win the
- 45:44Speaker 10: toss in the first half, you get your choice of
- 45:46Speaker 10: direction to start the third quarter, and they chose to
- 45:49Speaker 10: get the wind for that exact same situation. Kicking going
- 45:53Speaker 10: the other way was a disaster. They missed an extra point,
- 45:56Speaker 10: green Bay missed the field goal, and then obviously going
- 45:58Speaker 10: the other way which they ended the game, was the
- 46:00Speaker 10: way they wanted to kick. So great decision. First decision
- 46:04Speaker 10: was a great one, and the game cooperated.
- 46:06Speaker 4: If you're a Panther fan, yes yesterday, Lions lose, Packers lose.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Rams look incredible, Seattle looks incredible. Eagles on a bye week.
- 46:17Speaker 4: You got a lot of these teams two and three
- 46:18Speaker 4: losses before the weekend started. I would have I'm sure
- 46:21Speaker 4: all of us would have assumed, it's like Lions. Lions
- 46:24Speaker 4: look really good, Packers look really good. Dark horses were
- 46:27Speaker 4: kind of the NFC West. Who would you have coming
- 46:29Speaker 4: out of the NFC today to go to the Super Bowl?
- 46:33Speaker 10: Yeah, twenty four hours ago, green Bay, you know, green Bay, Detroit, Philly,
- 46:39Speaker 10: you know, kind of the usual suspects there after yesterday.
- 46:43Speaker 7: I think Seattle. I think Seattle's really good.
- 46:46Speaker 10: I think Sam Donald has carried over the Minnesota Sam
- 46:50Speaker 10: Donald orre he won fourteen and has picked up where
- 46:54Speaker 10: he left off him in Kubiak. I think the way
- 46:56Speaker 10: the offense has been built around him, big personnel, you know,
- 47:01Speaker 10: it's a passing offense, and people continue to say that
- 47:04Speaker 10: it's a run offense, which is another one on my Twitter,
- 47:06Speaker 10: like drives me insane when people just say things that
- 47:09Speaker 10: aren't true. It irritates me. So yeh see, I was
- 47:14Speaker 10: shocked at I'm a little shocked at Detroit lost. To
- 47:16Speaker 10: be honest, I thought Minnesota was reeling a little bit.
- 47:18Speaker 10: I thought Minnesota the first couple weeks was a lot
- 47:20Speaker 10: better than they were the last few games. I know
- 47:22Speaker 10: there was controversy about you know, getting McCarthy back, and
- 47:26Speaker 10: you know, Wentz playing banged up and why they didn't
- 47:28Speaker 10: just turn back to JJ earlier.
- 47:30Speaker 7: But they really answered the bell Minnesota, so you got
- 47:32Speaker 7: to feel good for them.
- 47:34Speaker 10: But yeah, I still think when the dust settles, Philadelphia
- 47:37Speaker 10: I still think, you know, is the team until someone
- 47:40Speaker 10: proves otherwise. I think Detroit's in the mix. I still
- 47:43Speaker 10: think Green Bay, when everything settles down, is going to
- 47:46Speaker 10: be in the mix. I still think they're very good
- 47:47Speaker 10: on both sides of the ball. Detroit Seattle, we said,
- 47:52Speaker 10: San Francisco's kind of sneaky.
- 47:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 47:55Speaker 10: It's just so hard to think that they're going to
- 47:57Speaker 10: continue to weather the guys that they're missing for long
- 48:00Speaker 10: periods of time, yet all they do is figure out
- 48:02Speaker 10: how to win. I think Shannahan. Shanahan's awesome. You know,
- 48:05Speaker 10: obviously McCaffrey and Kittle, those guys are incredible. Can they
- 48:08Speaker 10: weather some of the defensive losses of Fred Warner? Can
- 48:11Speaker 10: they make the playoffs?
- 48:13Speaker 7: Yes?
- 48:13Speaker 10: Can they win the Super Bowl? I guess anything's possible.
- 48:18Speaker 10: I think it'd be tough, But yeah, I think I
- 48:20Speaker 10: think for the first time in a long time, I
- 48:21Speaker 10: think the NFC is actually a deeper conference right now
- 48:25Speaker 10: than the AFC.
- 48:26Speaker 2: And you didn't mention the Rams.
- 48:28Speaker 10: Yeahs, that's gonna be San Francisco's challenge. The way it
- 48:35Speaker 10: looks right now, they're gonna have to get in as
- 48:37Speaker 10: a wild card, as a They're gonna have to get
- 48:38Speaker 10: free from the West in because barring a huge fall,
- 48:43Speaker 10: you know, disaster, it looks like, you know, Seattle and
- 48:45Speaker 10: l A look like they're in the running to win it,
- 48:48Speaker 10: and then San Francisco obviously try to sneak that second
- 48:50Speaker 10: wild sport wild card spot. But yeah, I mean, NFC
- 48:54Speaker 10: West might be the best division in football, I mean North, Yeah,
- 48:59Speaker 10: I mean there, I think the NFC, for the first
- 49:02Speaker 10: time in the last couple of years is a deeper
- 49:05Speaker 10: stable of teams that you could make an argument for
- 49:08Speaker 10: competing when the last couple of years you kind of
- 49:11Speaker 10: felt like it was the AFC had more options to
- 49:13Speaker 10: represent them in the Super Bowl between Baltimore, you know, Buffalo,
- 49:19Speaker 10: Kansas City of course, and then you had like, how
- 49:21Speaker 10: good are the Denver Bronco is going to be? How
- 49:22Speaker 10: good are the Charger is going to be? I kind
- 49:25Speaker 10: of feel like the tide has shifted a little bit
- 49:27Speaker 10: to the death of the NFC. Yeah, Tapa, I think
- 49:32Speaker 10: they just went really well. They've lost it seems like
- 49:34Speaker 10: they've lost every player on their team and.
- 49:36Speaker 1: They just continue to Baker Mayfield it out, dude, Yeah,
- 49:38Speaker 1: they had figured out anyway. AFC is super interesting because
- 49:41Speaker 1: obviously we had the Bills in the Chiefs game, which
- 49:43Speaker 1: I'd love to get your thoughts on that. But the
- 49:45Speaker 1: Ravens there, they make a they're making a run that
- 49:48Speaker 1: we kind of all expected them to do after there
- 49:49Speaker 1: by week then you got the Broncos, who are seven
- 49:53Speaker 1: and two just beat the Houston Texans in a defensive battle.
- 49:56Speaker 1: So one can be said for both sides is like
- 49:59Speaker 1: there are there's a five or six competitive teams on
- 50:02Speaker 1: both sides. You can go, yeah, I can. I can
- 50:04Speaker 1: basically see any of these teams making it to the
- 50:06Speaker 1: super Bowl on either side. But do were you able
- 50:09Speaker 1: to watch that Bills Chiefs game?
- 50:11Speaker 6: It all?
- 50:12Speaker 7: I wasn't. I was flying back.
- 50:14Speaker 10: I followed some of the game cast and on the
- 50:16Speaker 10: plane I saw some of the highlights. From what I've
- 50:20Speaker 10: kind of gathered, the score actually wasn't even really indicative
- 50:23Speaker 10: of how the game. Oh yeah, I don't know if
- 50:25Speaker 10: you guys would agree with that. That's kind of the
- 50:27Speaker 10: gist that I'm getting from the follow up.
- 50:30Speaker 1: If there was, if there was a different team playing
- 50:32Speaker 1: the Bills, when you're watching that game, you would think
- 50:34Speaker 1: it's over. The only thing that kept your, like your
- 50:36Speaker 1: heart in it was knowing that Patrick Mahomes is on
- 50:38Speaker 1: the other side and truly anything can happen. They had
- 50:40Speaker 1: a two minute at the end. I think they had
- 50:42Speaker 1: like forty five seconds and then three plays die m up,
- 50:44Speaker 1: get all the way down the field.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Well either way, still a setup of Mahomes Allen Bill's
- 50:51Speaker 2: Chiefs rivalry game to where they're up seven and Mahomes
- 50:55Speaker 2: has the ball with about six minutes left. Yeah, and
- 50:57Speaker 2: then he ends up throwing a pick around the four
- 50:59Speaker 2: minute mark, in between four and five minutes. But it
- 51:01Speaker 2: was it was a juicy game there at the end,
- 51:03Speaker 2: but it did it felt like the Bills. Uh.
- 51:05Speaker 4: The whole theme of this episode for me has been
- 51:07Speaker 4: taking the fight to him. But it does feel like
- 51:09Speaker 4: the Bills kind of took the fight to the shut
- 51:10Speaker 4: it out in Bill's Mafia Land.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Right, because the Chiefs defense does such a great job
- 51:14Speaker 1: against The Chiefs defense in general just are very very good.
- 51:17Speaker 1: But Bills what they do. They lined up under center,
- 51:20Speaker 1: they ran the ball and every ran, every run they had,
- 51:23Speaker 1: they set up a play action off of that run
- 51:26Speaker 1: that was successful. So they had the Chiefs defense get.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Some rap leads, some rap leads. Gash and the Greg
- 51:31Speaker 4: You'd love it, you love that film.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Greg's not big in the run game.
- 51:35Speaker 2: You heard the way.
- 51:37Speaker 6: The run game.
- 51:38Speaker 1: He thinks the numbers of the run game are ridiculous.
- 51:40Speaker 7: Let's talk about the run game.
- 51:41Speaker 10: I've been looking forward to getting on with you guys
- 51:43Speaker 10: because Will teased me last week, you know, not teased me,
- 51:45Speaker 10: but like tease that we were going to talk about
- 51:48Speaker 10: some of these bigger concepts the run game is super valuable.
- 51:52Speaker 10: I just hate hearing people talk up how the run
- 51:56Speaker 10: game is what sets the tone and sets the stage
- 52:00Speaker 10: for everything else.
- 52:01Speaker 7: That we do.
- 52:02Speaker 10: The run game is a great way to win games
- 52:04Speaker 10: once you have the lead.
- 52:06Speaker 7: The run game.
- 52:06Speaker 10: Now, are you last year's playoff Philadelphia Eagles where you're
- 52:10Speaker 10: running for seventy five yard touchdowns. That's a different run game. Yeah,
- 52:14Speaker 10: that is more like an explosive passing game. Where now
- 52:17Speaker 10: you're starting to get into the elements of what makes
- 52:19Speaker 10: the pass more effective than the run is to generate
- 52:22Speaker 10: more yards per play, generate more explosive plays. That's why
- 52:25Speaker 10: the pendulum supports passing the ball. Now, if you can
- 52:29Speaker 10: run the ball for thirty yards, forty yard fifty yard touchdowns,
- 52:33Speaker 10: by all means you should run the ball on every
- 52:35Speaker 10: single play of the game. So that's a key that's
- 52:38Speaker 10: a key point to make. But the biggest advantage of
- 52:41Speaker 10: a run game is third and short, fourth and short,
- 52:45Speaker 10: goal to go, end of game, run the clockout with
- 52:48Speaker 10: the lead. That's where a really good run game can
- 52:52Speaker 10: alter effectiveness.
- 52:53Speaker 7: If you want to score points.
- 52:57Speaker 10: Across the board consistently over an entire season in the
- 53:01Speaker 10: regular season, if you want to score points. The correlation
- 53:05Speaker 10: between passing the ball and scoring points is non debatable.
- 53:14Speaker 2: What do you go?
- 53:15Speaker 1: I hate it?
- 53:16Speaker 2: I think I said, I agree with you.
- 53:18Speaker 1: That obviously passing the ball is going to correlate to
- 53:21Speaker 1: more points. However, if you're a team like the Buffalo
- 53:24Speaker 1: Bills and you have Josh Allen, who the last couple
- 53:26Speaker 1: of weeks has been like a little iffy and his
- 53:28Speaker 1: pass game, they haven't been consistent of marrying the run
- 53:30Speaker 1: to the past. To me, as an offensive lineman, a
- 53:34Speaker 1: guy that wants to see a lot of balance, because
- 53:36Speaker 1: I think balance plays a lot really well, especially when
- 53:38Speaker 1: you get into November and December. When you run the
- 53:40Speaker 1: football effectively and you have play action passes off of it,
- 53:44Speaker 1: it is way better for longevity of scoring consistency consistently.
- 53:49Speaker 1: And I don't know numbers, you're you're probably pulling something up.
- 53:52Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if you can win first down right
- 53:54Speaker 1: by running the ball by four more yards. He starts
- 53:57Speaker 1: looking over and he says he isn't like shit, he's
- 53:58Speaker 1: gonna pick up numbers on my ass.
- 54:00Speaker 7: No, I'm just if you can do that, go ahead, If.
- 54:02Speaker 1: You can run, if you can run outside zone to
- 54:04Speaker 1: the left right and you run that play effectively. Then
- 54:08Speaker 1: if you're doing that, now all of a sudden you
- 54:10Speaker 1: have linebackers flowing to the left side and you're pulling,
- 54:13Speaker 1: you're pulling the ball, you have a bootleg. There's so
- 54:15Speaker 1: much more open on the right side of the ball
- 54:17Speaker 1: and the right the right side of the line of scrimmage.
- 54:20Speaker 1: So I just think when you're able to run effectively,
- 54:22Speaker 1: it opens up so much more in the past game,
- 54:24Speaker 1: which gets you down the field. And then if you
- 54:25Speaker 1: run the ball effectively, then the third and short, fourth
- 54:28Speaker 1: and ones goal to goes, goal to goes, that is
- 54:31Speaker 1: going to open itself up as well.
- 54:33Speaker 4: If if you have if you could run outside zone
- 54:35Speaker 4: on the left and you have Taylor on and Roger Staffold,
- 54:37Speaker 4: and you have Derek Hennery in the backfield, y Ryan
- 54:40Speaker 4: Tannel under center and A. J. Brown on the outside,
- 54:42Speaker 4: and you can success.
- 54:45Speaker 1: No no, no, I'm not okay, you run the ball
- 54:47Speaker 1: to the right whatever. I'm just saying. If you're able
- 54:49Speaker 1: to run run plays that you can set up play
- 54:52Speaker 1: action off of to get your shots, especially when hit
- 54:54Speaker 1: the middle of the field, that is a recipe for success,
- 54:58Speaker 1: especially when you're under center. Quarterback puts us back to
- 55:00Speaker 1: the defense or the defense and now has the second
- 55:02Speaker 1: guest over and over again. If they're going to cover two,
- 55:04Speaker 1: those linebackers are gonna start cheating up a little bit.
- 55:05Speaker 1: It leads a lot more holes in the middle of
- 55:07Speaker 1: that defense. That's the kind of offense I love as
- 55:10Speaker 1: as opposed to just passed first always.
- 55:14Speaker 10: Oh, I'm not saying I don't listen. You're not going
- 55:16Speaker 10: to find a bigger supporter of under center, heavy personnel
- 55:21Speaker 10: twelve thirteen under center play action, turn your back to
- 55:24Speaker 10: the defense pass game than me.
- 55:26Speaker 7: I think.
- 55:27Speaker 10: And again we're not talking about Washington, but I think
- 55:29Speaker 10: what Washington And I hate seeing je Daniels not hurt.
- 55:33Speaker 7: But that was an awful scene. But just because we watched.
- 55:37Speaker 10: Them play last night, playing in the shotgun pass it
- 55:41Speaker 10: doesn't work. It is virtually an impossible strategy. You're seeing
- 55:46Speaker 10: Jalen Hurts now get more under center. You're seeing Josha
- 55:49Speaker 10: Allen get more under center. You're seeing Patrick Mahomes. Guys
- 55:52Speaker 10: that have played almost exclusively from the gun for the
- 55:55Speaker 10: bulk of their careers are now getting under center, turning
- 55:58Speaker 10: their back because we all know action is the most
- 56:01Speaker 10: efficient and effective pass play, especially on first and second down.
- 56:06Speaker 10: I'm not disputing any of that. But let's take Seattle
- 56:08Speaker 10: last night. Okay, they are playing in twelve and thirteen.
- 56:12Speaker 10: They run the fewest amount of eleven personnel, so they
- 56:15Speaker 10: have three receivers on the field and one of the lowest,
- 56:18Speaker 10: if not the lowest rate in the entire league. Okay,
- 56:21Speaker 10: so the assumption is that, okay, people are so scared
- 56:26Speaker 10: of their run game, they're playing heavy boxes, which they are.
- 56:30Speaker 10: They're playing big base people, which makes sense when you
- 56:33Speaker 10: bring out two to three tight ends.
- 56:35Speaker 7: And what does Seattle do to you? They throw the ball.
- 56:40Speaker 10: He's fourteen for fourteen, for fourteen, fifteen for fifteen, whatever,
- 56:44Speaker 10: he is for two eighty and four touchdowns at halftime.
- 56:48Speaker 10: Do you know how many yards per carry for the
- 56:50Speaker 10: season the Seattle Seahawks.
- 56:52Speaker 7: Average on the ground? Tell me five three point eight yards.
- 56:57Speaker 1: A carriage is not great?
- 57:00Speaker 7: I ask why? Now, Listen.
- 57:02Speaker 10: My point is what they're doing is exactly if I
- 57:05Speaker 10: was a coordinator what I would do. The question I
- 57:07Speaker 10: have has nothing do with Seattle. I give them all
- 57:10Speaker 10: the credit in the world. My question is why do
- 57:13Speaker 10: these defensive coordinators and why do these media types, and
- 57:15Speaker 10: why do these people at the podium continue it up
- 57:18Speaker 10: there and beat the table about how important it is
- 57:21Speaker 10: to stop the run. Why would you walk into a
- 57:23Speaker 10: stadium when Sam Darnald has the second most efficient passing
- 57:27Speaker 10: game in the league. Why would you walk into the
- 57:30Speaker 10: stadium and say, you know what we need to do.
- 57:32Speaker 10: We need to stop the twenty fifth ranked run game
- 57:36Speaker 10: in football. We need to make sure they don't get
- 57:38Speaker 10: out on us. And instead you let Sam Darnald throw
- 57:40Speaker 10: for two fifty plus and four touchdowns at halftime. It
- 57:43Speaker 10: doesn't make sense if at the end of the game
- 57:46Speaker 10: you run the ball twenty five times for one hundred
- 57:48Speaker 10: and sixty yards, unless one hundred and fifty of them
- 57:51Speaker 10: we're in the second half.
- 57:52Speaker 7: Because you're up by two scores, you probably lost.
- 57:55Speaker 1: That's fair, that's a point.
- 57:57Speaker 10: It just it doesn't what people are saying and the
- 58:01Speaker 10: talking points that get just spewed over and over and over.
- 58:05Speaker 10: It's just not true no matter how often people say it,
- 58:08Speaker 10: it's not true. Now, Buffalo, they ran for two forty
- 58:13Speaker 10: on the Panthers last week, or you know, two weeks
- 58:16Speaker 10: ago and Josh Allen didn't have to throw the ball. Yeah,
- 58:19Speaker 10: because they averaged he had seventeen carries for two hundred
- 58:22Speaker 10: and fifteen yards.
- 58:23Speaker 7: Of course, you should.
- 58:24Speaker 10: Keep handing the ball to James Cook, but that's not
- 58:27Speaker 10: being an efficient run game. At three and a half
- 58:29Speaker 10: four yards of carry and people are going, oh my god,
- 58:31Speaker 10: we can't let him go down our throat. Do you
- 58:33Speaker 10: think that either team yesterday in the Green Bay Carolina
- 58:38Speaker 10: game cared how much both teams wanted to run the
- 58:41Speaker 10: ball at each other and the final score was sixteen thirteen.
- 58:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, that's you just.
- 58:48Speaker 10: Can't score any points unless you're gonna score fifty yard
- 58:50Speaker 10: rushing touchdowns if you do hand it to Saquon every play.
- 58:54Speaker 10: And I'll be the biggest cheerleader out there, but that's
- 58:57Speaker 10: not the reality of the league.
- 58:59Speaker 7: Like most teams don't.
- 59:00Speaker 10: I don't have Derrick Henry and Saquon and guys that
- 59:02Speaker 10: are gonna take fifty yard touchdowns weekend and week out.
- 59:05Speaker 10: It's just not the way the league works. And that's
- 59:10Speaker 10: just the way the modern game is being played.
- 59:12Speaker 7: This last thing, I'll.
- 59:12Speaker 10: Say, rushing attempts are not up across the league because
- 59:17Speaker 10: offenses have come to the realization that you know, it's
- 59:19Speaker 10: in my best interest to score more points, I should
- 59:22Speaker 10: run the ball more. It's because defensive coordinators, by and large,
- 59:26Speaker 10: especially the really good teams, are saying, you know what,
- 59:29Speaker 10: I'm gonna play too high shell. I'm gonna play nickel
- 59:32Speaker 10: to base. I'm gonna play light boxes. Run at me
- 59:35Speaker 10: forty times. Great, you're gonna have less possessions. I'm gonna
- 59:40Speaker 10: fight my ass off to get a turnover or two
- 59:42Speaker 10: and a kick a field goal or two in the
- 59:43Speaker 10: red zone. And at the end of the game, you
- 59:45Speaker 10: might score twenty points. And if I have a halfway
- 59:48Speaker 10: decent offense, I'm gonna score more than twenty and we're
- 59:50Speaker 10: gonna win.
- 59:51Speaker 2: Yeah. I love this conversation.
- 59:53Speaker 4: I feel like I'm honestly, I feel like I'm running
- 59:55Speaker 4: a lot listening to you two go back and forth
- 59:56Speaker 4: about the run game, the one that the conversation I
- 59:59Speaker 4: was wanting to bring up last that I said we
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: could talk about this week. It's just kind of how
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: teams are getting back to that twelve thirteen personnel look,
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: just the way the tight end has developed over the
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: last decade. I feel like, because again you said it,
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: the top these top tier quarterbacks, they've spent most of
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: their career in gun and now you see teams getting
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: back to under center, and I'm just I'm wanting to
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: know your thoughts because I was kind of feeling it
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: when I was a backer who would play mostly in
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: base personnel, when I was in a backup role or
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: even as a starter, and you go to third down
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: and I might come off the field, or if you
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: had a team that would that would be in twelve personnel.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: But it's because they're doing more predominant eleven looks. So
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: you're like, hey, we're gonna play nickel to this. So
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: you're kind of deciding as a coordinator do you want
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: to run do we want to put a nickel package
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: in there against base? And now it's to me you
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: almost you're at times you could make a mistake putting
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: in nickel bodies in base packages because against these teams
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: like Seattle, who can have twelve thirteen personnel and give
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: you traditional twelve and thirteen personnel looks, then you can
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: kind of look to hey, we might be running the
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: ball more this game because they are staying in nickel packages.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: I think it's fascinating how it's developed. Again back to
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: getting I'll say getting under after listening to your guys' conversation,
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: I would beforehand, I would have said getting back to
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: run game type personnel, but getting the more under center
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: personnel because there was a shift over the last decade
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: of hey, we need to put our smaller bodies because
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: even though they're in twelve personnel, they're predominantly lining up
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: in eleven looks. I know that makes sense to you,
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: but for people out there listening or watching this, eleven
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: personnel is where you're having three receiver looks. Teams would
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: take twelve personnel, so two tight ends, one running back
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: and they would make a tight end, be more of
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: a receiving tight end and flank him out or cut
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: him away from the line of scrimmage to where now
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: it's you're having to make a decision to are we
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: going to be in more base packages versus these twelve
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: thirteen personnel looks. And I'm just kind of curious of
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: what you've seen over the last decade of this shift
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: coming back to under center run game and how again
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: it's like coordinators are it's like, are we gonna stop
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: the run? You're a little bit more vanilla when you're
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: in base packages because you've spent most of the last
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: decade or so fifteen years building out a lot more
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: complex nickel dime packages to where it's like, Hey, now
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: we're gonna make the call. Are we going to play
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: bass to this twelve thirteen personnel team, because a lot
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: of these twelve thirteen personnel teams, like Seattle is having
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: a lot of success just being under center now and
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: looking more old school.
- 1:02:30Speaker 10: Yeah so, and I can give you again when it
- 1:02:33Speaker 10: first kind of dawned on me. But everything you're saying
- 1:02:35Speaker 10: is where the conversation needs to start going towards, because
- 1:02:39Speaker 10: what you're saying is one hundred percent what's happening. The
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: twenty twenty two season, that playoffs we called the super Bowl.
- 1:02:46Speaker 10: We had Detroit and San Francisco in one of the
- 1:02:49Speaker 10: playoff games. I don't remember, maybe the divisional round or
- 1:02:52Speaker 10: I can't remember exactly what round of the playoffs it was.
- 1:02:55Speaker 10: And the conversation back then was San Francisco was so
- 1:02:59Speaker 10: good in twenty one personnel. Okay, so they had two receivers,
- 1:03:02Speaker 10: they had McCaffrey Kittle and use check and they could
- 1:03:06Speaker 10: be in eleven type plays because of the flexibility of
- 1:03:10Speaker 10: McCaffrey and use check and kittle. They could be in
- 1:03:13Speaker 10: twelve types, so two tight end type stuff because of
- 1:03:16Speaker 10: use check and kittle, And it was putting a lot
- 1:03:18Speaker 10: of pressure on defenses. And one of the big issues
- 1:03:22Speaker 10: that the Lions were having that year was matching those
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: base personnel looks. And we said at the top of
- 1:03:31Speaker 10: that broadcast, this was three years ago that at the
- 1:03:35Speaker 10: Aaron Glenn at the time was the coordinator that if
- 1:03:38Speaker 10: I was running the Detroit Lions defense, that they should
- 1:03:42Speaker 10: not worry about personnel at all and they should only
- 1:03:46Speaker 10: play down in distance. On first and ten, the tendencies
- 1:03:49Speaker 10: of the Shanahan office was under center, play action pass.
- 1:03:53Speaker 10: So play under center play action pass. If they hand
- 1:03:56Speaker 10: the ball off and get seven yards, so be it.
- 1:03:59Speaker 10: And just go through down in distance tendencies and play
- 1:04:03Speaker 10: your personnel, whether it's four or five man fronts, whether
- 1:04:06Speaker 10: it's three safeties, three linebackers, four, whatever your personnel groupings are,
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: and base them off down in distance. So that was
- 1:04:13Speaker 10: two and a half years ago that we were having
- 1:04:15Speaker 10: that conversation of a playoff game, and that is exactly
- 1:04:19Speaker 10: what the Lions did. Anyway, fast forward to today, the
- 1:04:24Speaker 10: conversation that needs to be had is why do the
- 1:04:29Speaker 10: Rams play almost exclusively eleven yet are very good at
- 1:04:34Speaker 10: running the ball. And the answer is because they build
- 1:04:37Speaker 10: eleven personnel groupings. You play me and Nickel and I'm
- 1:04:42Speaker 10: going to line up in tight, condensed splits with in
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: the old days Cooper Cup. Nowadays it's Puka Nakua and company,
- 1:04:49Speaker 10: and those guys are good edge blockers. I'm going to
- 1:04:52Speaker 10: add gaps to the run game that now all of
- 1:04:54Speaker 10: these defensive backs, five six defensive backs and Nickel and
- 1:04:57Speaker 10: Dime have to fit the run. I'm gonna get all
- 1:05:00Speaker 10: those big bodies off the field because you're gonna match
- 1:05:03Speaker 10: Nickel against my eleven, and I'm gonna run the ball
- 1:05:06Speaker 10: at you in first and second down, and then all
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: of my playpass stuff looks exactly like that because the
- 1:05:12Speaker 10: way McVeigh builds it. Now, flip it to last night
- 1:05:16Speaker 10: with Seattle, they're doing the opposite. They're bringing big bodies
- 1:05:20Speaker 10: onto the field under the assumption that you're gonna match
- 1:05:23Speaker 10: me with big bodies, and I'm gonna make you go
- 1:05:26Speaker 10: big to throw it, and La is trying to make
- 1:05:29Speaker 10: you go small to run it. And that's the starting
- 1:05:32Speaker 10: point of everything they're trying to do. They are manipulating
- 1:05:35Speaker 10: the personnel groupings you bring on the field, and then
- 1:05:39Speaker 10: they're gonna play the game accordingly. That's why if I
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: was running defenses, I would match things more often than
- 1:05:47Speaker 10: not on tendencies of down and distance, where I don't
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: care if you come out in twelve personnel. If I
- 1:05:52Speaker 10: know you're a first and ten past team, I'm gonna
- 1:05:54Speaker 10: play first and ten two high safeties, and I'm gonna if.
- 1:05:57Speaker 7: You run it, you run it.
- 1:05:59Speaker 10: That's where the league, I think is going. From the
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: conversations I have with defensive coordinators and really smart defensive people,
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: that's the indications that they're giving me if you don't
- 1:06:11Speaker 10: give up explosive runs, which teams are now starting to realize.
- 1:06:14Speaker 10: Putting more guys at the first and second level actually
- 1:06:17Speaker 10: on a play by play better, you'll like this, will
- 1:06:19Speaker 10: like on a play by play basis, defenses will support
- 1:06:23Speaker 10: the run better in eight man spacing, five to three spacing,
- 1:06:27Speaker 10: four to four spacing, like more first and second level defenders.
- 1:06:30Speaker 10: But what we're finding is against Derrick Henry and Saquon
- 1:06:33Speaker 10: Barkley and those kind of backs, the explosive runs are
- 1:06:38Speaker 10: happening against single high coverage because once that play pops through,
- 1:06:42Speaker 10: it's gone. Yea, So teams are going you know what,
- 1:06:44Speaker 10: i might give up five or six, but I'm not
- 1:06:46Speaker 10: gonna give up fifty. I'm gonna put a net. I'm
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: gonna play everything from high to low. I might be
- 1:06:51Speaker 10: light at the line of scrimmage, but that's okay. And
- 1:06:54Speaker 10: I'm not gonna let you run the ball for forty
- 1:06:56Speaker 10: plus yard plays and chunk me to death in the
- 1:06:58Speaker 10: run game. That's a problem. The good teams are all
- 1:07:02Speaker 10: doing that. The bend, but don't break. Make you go
- 1:07:04Speaker 10: the length of the field, make you snap it again.
- 1:07:07Speaker 10: I could get a sack, I could get a holding call,
- 1:07:09Speaker 10: I could get a false start. But every time an
- 1:07:12Speaker 10: offense snaps the ball, something bad can happen. And that's
- 1:07:15Speaker 10: become the model of today's NFL. And I think it's
- 1:07:20Speaker 10: just going to continue to go more and more that
- 1:07:22Speaker 10: way because teams don't want you to throw the ball
- 1:07:26Speaker 10: and they really don't care if you run it.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: Yeah, this is I could talk about We could talk
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: about this all day long.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I just think it's so fascinating.
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: Because again, you brought up the rams in the way
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: that they're able to run the ball in eleven personnel
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: because usually again when you're going nickel bodies back like
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: back in the day, the nickel wouldn't be coming in
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: and had to be very savvy in the run game
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: and say, hey, you're gonna have the be gap on
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: this snap. They're only going to run a.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, Hey, it's.
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: Because he's so physical. That's a different animal.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: And also even in the bigger personnel, So take the
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: Buffalo Bills for example, like the development of the linebacker
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: over the course of the decade has gotten more athletic, faster,
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: maybe a little smaller and leaner. And if you take
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: the Buffalo Bill's second level, they're a little light in
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: the ass. So when you're going against these twelve thirteen
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: personnel teams, it's where you could struggle in the run
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: game because you don't have bigger bodies, and then you
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: get caught between a rock and a hard place on
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: you know, when you hit free agency or what you're
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: trying to stop or eliminate, do you get bigger bodies now,
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: it's just been fascinating to see these offenses adapt year
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: in and year out. To the personnel. It's like, again,
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: we've been a little bit more gun run heavy in
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: the gun pass games opened up because bigger bodies have
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: been out there. Now we're making teams go nickel. Hey,
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: Now we've learned that if we go twelve personnel and
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: we have very athletic tight ends, he could block at times,
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: he could be a receiving threat. Now they're a lighter
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: in the ass across the second level lining up against
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: twelve thirteen personnel. Now we're able to run the football
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: more because the second level is now lighter because of
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: how defenses said had to adapt over the last decade.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: Two a passing threat offense. This is what I just
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: sit back and think about it, and I always I'll
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: give you.
- 1:09:07Speaker 10: Another one that's super timely. Buffalo they play a ton
- 1:09:12Speaker 10: of thirteen, So three tight ends they get, Yeah, Knox,
- 1:09:16Speaker 10: Kincaid and then the rookie. They don't do as much
- 1:09:20Speaker 10: twelve as you would think with Knox and Kincaid because
- 1:09:23Speaker 10: when they go twelve with Knox and Kincaid, what defense,
- 1:09:26Speaker 10: what defense do they bring out?
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: What personnel group? Nicol they play Nickel, So you.
- 1:09:30Speaker 10: Lose all of your advantage in Kincaid. Is it really
- 1:09:33Speaker 10: going to gain that advantage back? So to be an
- 1:09:37Speaker 10: early down passing team out of twelve Buffalo has said,
- 1:09:40Speaker 10: you know what, that doesn't really do anything for us,
- 1:09:42Speaker 10: but you know what does get you in base and
- 1:09:44Speaker 10: does get a lot of big bodies on the field.
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: Thirteen.
- 1:09:47Speaker 10: Yeah, and then you know who My Z receiver in
- 1:09:49Speaker 10: essence is Dalton Kincaid. So now I have Kincaid, I
- 1:09:53Speaker 10: have my ex whichever receiver they leave on the field
- 1:09:56Speaker 10: depending on the play. And then Dawson Knox is the
- 1:09:59Speaker 10: is the the f and then the rookie is the
- 1:10:02Speaker 10: big Why he's like the on the ball true tight end.
- 1:10:05Speaker 10: They can line up in double wing and run it
- 1:10:08Speaker 10: down your throat or what they like to do is
- 1:10:11Speaker 10: they can spread you out and they can throw it
- 1:10:12Speaker 10: because they feel like that's the.
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: One personnel grouping.
- 1:10:16Speaker 10: They are getting a pass advantage because they're not great
- 1:10:19Speaker 10: on the outside. They're not dominant at the outside receivers.
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: So they're doing it with screen games the Shakir and
- 1:10:25Speaker 10: they're doing it with play action pass to the tight ends.
- 1:10:28Speaker 10: And obviously James Cook in the run game in the
- 1:10:30Speaker 10: screen game, so it's another great example of Buffalo and
- 1:10:33Speaker 10: Joe Brady being really intelligent of how do I get
- 1:10:36Speaker 10: big bodies on the field when I want to throw it?
- 1:10:39Speaker 10: And how do I get more little bodies on the
- 1:10:41Speaker 10: field when I want to run it? Right, that's what
- 1:10:44Speaker 10: everyone's doing. And if you match personnel, you're as a defense,
- 1:10:49Speaker 10: you are now at the mercy of the offense right
- 1:10:51Speaker 10: dictating to you who's on the field.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: And making the secondary even especially corners like play savvy
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: in the run game enough to mess with their and
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: hit him on these play actual passers.
- 1:11:03Speaker 10: And again without getting into the weeds, too complicated on
- 1:11:05Speaker 10: all this, but this is where the McVeigh shanahan wide receiver,
- 1:11:10Speaker 10: pre snap, jet motion and all that stuff that everyone
- 1:11:13Speaker 10: looks at and goes, man, it's to distract the linebackers.
- 1:11:16Speaker 10: It's not distracting the linebackers. This is not middle school
- 1:11:19Speaker 10: football where you send a guy in motion and all
- 1:11:21Speaker 10: eleven guys on defense watch him go. It changes the
- 1:11:24Speaker 10: run fits, Yeah, it changes Now that that backside nickel
- 1:11:27Speaker 10: who's an edge player off the slot, all of a sudden,
- 1:11:29Speaker 10: that guy goes in fast motion. He's now the backside
- 1:11:32Speaker 10: b gat player and we're running wine back inside zone
- 1:11:35Speaker 10: and he's at the point of attack now. And the
- 1:11:37Speaker 10: front side linebacker who's Will Compton, he's your run player.
- 1:11:41Speaker 10: He just got bumped to the edge because now it's
- 1:11:43Speaker 10: a three by one formation and he's got to play
- 1:11:45Speaker 10: outside the box and he can't make the tackle. Like
- 1:11:50Speaker 10: that's what's going on in all of this, And it's
- 1:11:53Speaker 10: a hard thing to get across in the broadcast because
- 1:11:55Speaker 10: the timing and it's a little in depth, but it
- 1:11:57Speaker 10: is a fascinating evolution of offensive football the way that
- 1:12:02Speaker 10: it's being played nowadays.
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: Because again, even even the defensive back, like just the
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: inexperience of playing very detailed on the run game. You
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: get them to pat their feet just for a second
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: and the GAP's gonna move or you're gonna get the
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: body on them eventually, and just that little bit of
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: or enough inexperience to where, hey, you're putting them in
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: a in a very much a run conflict situation to
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: where that's all you need to pop an explosive play.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Let me ask you this. You guys brought you brought
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: the bills of the thirteen personnel. That's the only way
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: to get these defense is to go in two base
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: if you are a defense coordinator game planning against the
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills, how are you playing their tendencies? This is
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: kind of for both of you.
- 1:12:42Speaker 10: Oh, I guess it depends what my team is, right, Yeah,
- 1:12:45Speaker 10: I guess I would have to look at my personnel
- 1:12:47Speaker 10: and say, right, So, what's been the advantage.
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: Of the Eagles over the last couple of years.
- 1:12:52Speaker 10: It's twofold, right, So, as I'm building it, if I
- 1:12:54Speaker 10: put my defensive coordinator hat on here, my first question
- 1:12:57Speaker 10: is how good is my offense? And if I say
- 1:13:00Speaker 10: my offense is a twenty five or more points per game,
- 1:13:03Speaker 10: maybe we're even closer to twenty eight. I'm sitting there saying,
- 1:13:06Speaker 10: I don't give a shit how much you run the
- 1:13:08Speaker 10: ball on me. You're not gonna score twenty eight to
- 1:13:10Speaker 10: thirty points a game doing that. I'm gonna play high shells.
- 1:13:13Speaker 10: I'm gonna control the front. I'm gonna control the run
- 1:13:15Speaker 10: game with my front. That's been Philadelphia for the last
- 1:13:18Speaker 10: couple of years, right. That's Vic Fangio's kind of touch
- 1:13:22Speaker 10: on NFL defenses over the last decade is high shells.
- 1:13:26Speaker 10: Everything from the top down be really dominant at one
- 1:13:29Speaker 10: or two spots. In the defensive line, and those guys
- 1:13:31Speaker 10: control the game. And now my back seven are all
- 1:13:35Speaker 10: pass first, run, second downhill, run and chase players. If
- 1:13:39Speaker 10: that's my personnel and my offense is that compliment, That's
- 1:13:44Speaker 10: exactly what.
- 1:13:44Speaker 7: I'm gonna be.
- 1:13:45Speaker 10: It's why Dallas really struggled last year and everyone overreacted
- 1:13:49Speaker 10: to Dallas needs to be better against the run. Well,
- 1:13:51Speaker 10: in twenty twenty three, when Dak was a potential MVP
- 1:13:55Speaker 10: and they're scoring thirty a game, no one talked about
- 1:13:57Speaker 10: Dallas's run game because it was Draymond Diggs and it
- 1:14:01Speaker 10: was Deron Bland having pick sixes and Micah Parson's having
- 1:14:04Speaker 10: stripsacks with DeMarcus Lawrence and they're just rushing the passer
- 1:14:07Speaker 10: the entire game. Because you can't run and keep up
- 1:14:10Speaker 10: with Dak in a thirty point offense, Dak gets hurt.
- 1:14:13Speaker 10: All of a sudden, the passing game goes to shit,
- 1:14:15Speaker 10: and it turns into the Rico Dawdle run game. Well,
- 1:14:18Speaker 10: all of a sudden, now we're playing a lot lower
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: scoring games as a result, because I'm not chasing Dallas anymore,
- 1:14:23Speaker 10: and I can run the ball for four quarters and
- 1:14:26Speaker 10: all of a sudden now the weakness of the smaller bodies,
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: the lighter bodies. The way Dallas built that defense over
- 1:14:31Speaker 10: the years to complement a thirty point offense has now
- 1:14:35Speaker 10: completely broken down. So I guess to answer your question,
- 1:14:39Speaker 10: how good's my offense? Am I playing low twenties high
- 1:14:42Speaker 10: teens games? Or am I making this a race to thirty?
- 1:14:45Speaker 10: That changes my decisions drastically? And then do I have
- 1:14:48Speaker 10: one or two interior defensive linemen that are just an
- 1:14:50Speaker 10: absolute game wrecker that I can hold the front and
- 1:14:53Speaker 10: you might get me here and there, but at the
- 1:14:55Speaker 10: end you ran twenty two times for eighty five yards.
- 1:15:00Speaker 10: I'm fine with that. That doesn't bother me. So there's
- 1:15:03Speaker 10: some nuance to how I would play, but generally speaking,
- 1:15:05Speaker 10: that would be my approach.
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: Yeah, and just understanding your back seven Like again, it's
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: it's like, if you're sitting there stuck between a rock
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: and a hard place, are we going to go bigger
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: personnel this game or not?
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: Well, if we're going to go on extra back, you're
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: on extra backer' here. Number one?
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: Is he detailed enough in the past game to where
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: he can run and play in space? And if not,
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: do you have a secondary level guy or a defensive
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: bad guy who can play in the run game and
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: be like, all right, we'll give up some of the run,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: but we really need this guy in the back end
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: to eliminate.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Some of the explosives through the air. So it all.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: Depends, and it's just been it's just fascinating to watch
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: this game can continue to adapt, you know, a few
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: years at a time, and then see teams go after
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: certain body types, certain body types like again, even when
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: the tight end was becoming more of a receiving threat.
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: With all these very athletic tight ends, Jordan Reed was
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: one of them for us to where you're kind of
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: more you're trying to get teams more out of space.
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: But anytime you knew Jordan Reid was in the game,
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: let's just say he.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Was number eighty five.
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: If you knew eighty five was in the game, you're
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: gonna put lighter personnel out there because you know ninety
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: percent of the time they're gonna throw a pass because
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: of Jordan Reid. Versus if you got Logan Paulsen eighty two,
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: who's a blocking tight end. Now you're just seeing these
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: semi positions become you know, just super athletic, like these
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: freaks that they're finding that can kind of do both things.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: To Greg's point with Buffalo, where you could put thirteen
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: out there and Kinkaid can play.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: The X or player receiver.
- 1:16:31Speaker 10: So it's this is football interesting, Yeah, this is It's
- 1:16:36Speaker 10: what they tried to do with Kyle Pitts in Atlanta
- 1:16:38Speaker 10: with Arthur Smith.
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yes, great example.
- 1:16:41Speaker 10: It's the exact same thing. The problem was early in
- 1:16:44Speaker 10: his career. And I haven't had an Atlanta game this year,
- 1:16:46Speaker 10: so I don't want to make a blanket observations. I
- 1:16:48Speaker 10: haven't watched Kyle play this year, but obviously freak athlete,
- 1:16:51Speaker 10: wide receiver type, body type, skills, ability to move.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: I mean, he's a.
- 1:16:56Speaker 10: Rare dude to have te next to his name. The
- 1:16:59Speaker 10: problem was they played him as a Z receiver and
- 1:17:03Speaker 10: you lose a little bit of your matchup, right, Like
- 1:17:05Speaker 10: I ow, the worst thing for me, the best thing
- 1:17:08Speaker 10: for me in my career. I'll just speak about myself.
- 1:17:09Speaker 10: It's easier than be giving judging other guys. Early in
- 1:17:13Speaker 10: my career when I came out, when we went two
- 1:17:16Speaker 10: tight ends in Chicago, Desmond Clark, who was the other
- 1:17:19Speaker 10: tight end with me, the vet.
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: He was the why.
- 1:17:21Speaker 10: He was the true tight end, and I was the
- 1:17:23Speaker 10: F I was in the slot. I was the third receiver.
- 1:17:26Speaker 10: That was never my game. I was not comfortable out there.
- 1:17:29Speaker 10: I didn't want to run choice routes. I didn't want
- 1:17:31Speaker 10: to run underneath like that was not who I was.
- 1:17:34Speaker 10: The best thing for my career was playing the why,
- 1:17:37Speaker 10: because I was the why. Whether it was twelve eleven, thirteen,
- 1:17:41Speaker 10: twenty one, it didn't matter.
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: I was the why.
- 1:17:44Speaker 10: So my matchups were linebackers in safeties I was. I
- 1:17:47Speaker 10: was in the run game, so I was in the
- 1:17:49Speaker 10: game every single snap, so there was no tendencies. Hey,
- 1:17:51Speaker 10: Olsen's in the game, let's play nickel pass. Olsen's not
- 1:17:54Speaker 10: in the game. We can play run like when you
- 1:17:56Speaker 10: can play every down and you don't have to be
- 1:17:59Speaker 10: so predicted bowl in your personnel groupings based on your tendencies.
- 1:18:03Speaker 10: That was the best thing that ever happened to me.
- 1:18:04Speaker 10: If I had to play my early in my career,
- 1:18:06Speaker 10: when Charles Woodson was in Green Bay, Don Capers was
- 1:18:11Speaker 10: the decordinator, and then I forget who took over for him.
- 1:18:13Speaker 10: My rookie year, we're breaking the huddle and I got
- 1:18:16Speaker 10: Charles Woodson guarding me in the slot. They made him
- 1:18:20Speaker 10: like a dime linebacker. So I mean, this was fifteen
- 1:18:23Speaker 10: years ago, and they made him the dime linebacker. They
- 1:18:26Speaker 10: played two high safeties, he in essence became the other
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: Nickel and he would play me two man in the slot.
- 1:18:32Speaker 10: And he was a Hall of Famer and I was
- 1:18:34Speaker 10: in my first and second year. That was a bad
- 1:18:36Speaker 10: matchup for me. I'm saying, put me back in the box.
- 1:18:39Speaker 10: I want to run routes against linebackers and say, I
- 1:18:41Speaker 10: don't want to guard a Hall I don't want a
- 1:18:43Speaker 10: Hall of Fame defensive back who's a corner now at
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: this part playing safety, that's not in my best interest.
- 1:18:50Speaker 10: But teams played us nickel to twelve early in my career,
- 1:18:54Speaker 10: and the better I got at blocking, and the better
- 1:18:56Speaker 10: I got at being on the field in all personnel groupings,
- 1:19:00Speaker 10: more of an advantage I got in the passing game.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Think about you in some of these offensive schemes nowadays, Greg,
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Oh my god, bro, it's like that.
- 1:19:07Speaker 7: That's nowadays. I'm like, oh, and you're.
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: Seeing how much offenses have grown schematically, the thought process
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: utilizing the personnel, Like that's why That's why George Kittle
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: is such a beast, because he's somebody who again who
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: can be a true why. He can block, he can
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: receive versus like a Travis Kelcey to where you'll have
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: that extra tight end in there. Maybe they give some
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: disguise and you kind of got some freaks around him
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: on the outside so where you can still be in
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: the gun at times. You know, he's more of a
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: pass savvy tight end. But like yourself, Greg like Kittle, Gronk.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Gronk was a big one that changed a whole
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: lot of things because you have no idea how to
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: set up against.
- 1:19:46Speaker 10: It's a great you guys got me taking my jacket off.
- 1:19:48Speaker 10: You guys got yeah.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: It is so interesting to see, like the thought process
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: of defensive coordinators. Are you playing against the personnel? You
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: play against tendencies, and it's something that as an offensive
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: lineman you don't really think about. You was say, okay,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: we're in twelve thirteen personnel, they're going to bring base
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: out here, and now it's like that's no longer what
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: it case. And that's when I was playing, That's how
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: it always was, like, Hey, we're gonna put bigger bodies
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: in the field because we had a Delaney Walker who
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: was kind of that wide tight end that could he
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: could run block a little bit, but also he was
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: one of our best pass casts. And you just you
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: start to learn the game of chess that has to
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: take place weekend and week out, and then hearing about, hey,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: how's my offense, because that's going to change dramatically. How
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: I call this defense. It's it's it's Awesomeoba is in
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: a great place.
- 1:20:33Speaker 10: The guys are just more versatile now, Taylor than they were.
- 1:20:36Speaker 10: You know, even when we were playing five. You know,
- 1:20:39Speaker 10: I'm out five years so eight years ago, ten years ago, Like,
- 1:20:42Speaker 10: guys are more versatile, right. There's receivers now that are
- 1:20:45Speaker 10: legitimate threats in the run game, blocking edges, adding gaps
- 1:20:49Speaker 10: to the.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: Defense in the line of scrimmage.
- 1:20:52Speaker 10: Puka Naku When did we ever what was the when
- 1:20:54Speaker 10: we used to run run game, especially even Nickel twelve,
- 1:20:57Speaker 10: It didn't matter what it was Nickel run. The receivers
- 1:20:59Speaker 10: were out on the numbers playing Patty Cake with the corner.
- 1:21:02Speaker 10: Every once in a while, if it was quarters and
- 1:21:04Speaker 10: it was Bob Sanders or it was a dude at safety,
- 1:21:07Speaker 10: we would crack replace and we would go and the
- 1:21:09Speaker 10: receiver would go dig out that force player. That was
- 1:21:11Speaker 10: the extent of receiver run game responsibility in a lot
- 1:21:16Speaker 10: of these offenses now, especially the real tight, condensed formations
- 1:21:19Speaker 10: of the floor tree, I mean the McVeigh and Shanahan
- 1:21:22Speaker 10: type tree. You can't play in those offenses as a receiver, yeah,
- 1:21:26Speaker 10: if you don't block. So it's just a completely different
- 1:21:30Speaker 10: mindset now. And you know, we could say the same
- 1:21:32Speaker 10: thing about running backs, right, like the McCaffrey's of the world,
- 1:21:35Speaker 10: Like McCaffrey's McCaffrey because of what he can do in
- 1:21:38Speaker 10: the passing game, he's a receiver. He is so uniquely
- 1:21:43Speaker 10: talented compared to other running backs. That's why his value
- 1:21:46Speaker 10: is so much higher.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: Yeah, It's like I would sit there in defensive meetings
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: when they'd be going over if like say, I would
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: be the guy out going Nickel against like twelve, and
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: I would just be sitting there thinking in my head,
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: why wouldn't all offenses just if we're gonna run Nickel?
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: This if I'm the OC and I kind of see
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: that we're running Nickel, knowing how they're trying to coach
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: this nickel right on. Hey, Mike's gonna make the close call.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: Let's say left. You just go line up on the right,
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: find the open bubble that'll be your gap. I'm thinking,
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: in my head, if OC's just understood this conversation being had,
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: why wouldn't they just live in this personnel, keep us
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: in nickel and force this this defensive back to play
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: in the run game enough so to where now he's
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: all fucked up because he's trying to commit to the
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: run game so much, and now you crack him over
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: the top with a play action pass, and now seeing
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: it happen, it's just it's fascinating.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: You're ahead of your tongue.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: I'm like, sitting there, I'm just thinking in my head,
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: if you're just if that OC was just sitting in
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: this meeting room and knew this is how we were
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: kind of trying to adjust, Like, hey, they're gonna be
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: in twelve personnel, but they're kind of gonna show us
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: more eleven looks than anything else. We're just gonna stay
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: in nickel and and if they do line up at
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: ace or put two tight ends in, hey buddy, here's
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: where you're gonna kind of fit it's gonna be unlikely,
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: but if it does happen, just take care of this
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: b gap on the backside for us.
- 1:23:02Speaker 7: And so, how many.
- 1:23:03Speaker 10: Teams over the years when they brought two tight ends,
- 1:23:05Speaker 10: Let's be honest, how many teams could bring two tight
- 1:23:08Speaker 10: ends in twelve and be equally good in the passing
- 1:23:11Speaker 10: game both guys, not just the f both guys be
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: equally good in the passing game, and both guys equally
- 1:23:18Speaker 10: good in the run game.
- 1:23:19Speaker 7: How many offenses in the last ten years have been
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: able to do that?
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: Do you have the answer?
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: It's not very many. It's less than a handful.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, But now it's trending to where your car changing.
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: That's what I think.
- 1:23:36Speaker 10: My point is, it's a lot more relevant today than
- 1:23:39Speaker 10: it was earlier in my career, where there was that's
- 1:23:42Speaker 10: the blocker, that's the receiver, and we're going to treat
- 1:23:45Speaker 10: them as such, even though if they're both in the game.
- 1:23:47Speaker 10: I don't care if we call them tight ends hvacs.
- 1:23:51Speaker 10: That guy could be a right tackle. He is zero
- 1:23:54Speaker 10: fret to do anything in the passing game outside of.
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: A spot route or as sticky.
- 1:23:59Speaker 10: That guy, he he's not digging out a sea gap
- 1:24:01Speaker 10: power player. He's not cutting off the backside zone. He
- 1:24:05Speaker 10: is a f wide receiver. That was the game when
- 1:24:08Speaker 10: I came into the league fifteen years ago. That has
- 1:24:11Speaker 10: really been muddy. The lines have been blurred between the
- 1:24:15Speaker 10: ability to do multiple things, not just that tight end
- 1:24:18Speaker 10: running back wide receiver line like it's it's a lot
- 1:24:22Speaker 10: more positionless in today's NFL on both sides of the
- 1:24:25Speaker 10: ball than it was when I came in the league
- 1:24:28Speaker 10: fifteen years ago.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: How many two hundred and seventy pounds three four linebackers
- 1:24:36Speaker 10: play in the league anymore? Levon Kirkland and zero Pittsburgh.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: It's like you see you see guys every now and then.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: It's like Nick Bolton, Like that's somebody who was thick
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: and will knock your dick in the dirt.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: But he can also run, yes, because he's there.
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: Yeah, you think he weighs to forty maybe to forty five.
- 1:24:56Speaker 10: But when we can do the league, he's a six
- 1:24:58Speaker 10: line especially if you were a three like all those
- 1:25:00Speaker 10: Ampsy North teams, you know, the Steelers and the Ravens.
- 1:25:05Speaker 10: I mean, when I first came in the league, three
- 1:25:07Speaker 10: four base linebackers were two hundred and sixty pounds.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: Those guards in three four were three fifty yeah.
- 1:25:16Speaker 10: Yeah, And then they would they would walk off the
- 1:25:18Speaker 10: field and you would go nickel and they would the trap.
- 1:25:23Speaker 10: The lines being blurred between you're a three technique, you a.
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: Nose, Sure, you're a mic or a will I.
- 1:25:31Speaker 10: Don't know you all kind of everyone kind of looks
- 1:25:33Speaker 10: the same body type wise.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: Oh, here's how we're going to defend this wide zone scheme.
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: Now it's coming into rights.
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: Like, which I think is super fun to talk about.
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: I had Terrence knighton in front of me one year,
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: is on like the back breatings career, and he was
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: they called him pot ROAs like he was massive, like
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: three fifty three sixty. You just will if there's a
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: if there's a YU tied in, it's like you're having
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: to gas him and just get him going to the
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: side of where you're assuming the wide zone is going
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: to be, just to get them running.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: Dude. My rookie year, we were playing the Bengals and
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: they just most recently played the Ravens, and I saw
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Ray Monteluga on a pin Polls game take a tackle
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: out like declete him and it's like you don't really
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: see that anymore. Those types of linebackers that are just
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: like cowboy collar esque type guys, the ray Lewis Is
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: that are just murdering people. Guess yourself why, because the
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: evolution of the tight end, it seems like, right.
- 1:26:30Speaker 10: Ray Lewis, probably ray Lewis is probably not the example,
- 1:26:32Speaker 10: even though he was that big type body. But the
- 1:26:35Speaker 10: reason those guys can't play anymore is because they're not
- 1:26:37Speaker 10: three down players, and their weaknesses, as physical as they
- 1:26:41Speaker 10: are and as stout as they are in the run game,
- 1:26:43Speaker 10: their liabilities in coverage, their liabilities to match man and
- 1:26:48Speaker 10: if you're forced to only play zones, can they tackle
- 1:26:51Speaker 10: in space? Can they cover? Like the liability in coverage
- 1:26:54Speaker 10: is not worth the advantage gained by their stout and
- 1:26:58Speaker 10: physicality in the run game, because defenses realize, this guy
- 1:27:02Speaker 10: might be great stopping the run, but if he's an
- 1:27:05Speaker 10: absolute liability in the passing.
- 1:27:06Speaker 7: Game, he can't be on the field. Yeah, he is
- 1:27:09Speaker 7: going to be.
- 1:27:10Speaker 10: He's going to be attacked, he's going to be isolated,
- 1:27:13Speaker 10: and we are gonna die a lot faster death this
- 1:27:15Speaker 10: guy being exploited in the run game. In the passing game,
- 1:27:18Speaker 10: then him on first and second down being really good
- 1:27:20Speaker 10: against will lead ISO Like yeah, it just doesn't matter.
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: And those superstars they don't really walk around. It's like
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: you got it all.
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: I mean, there are there are good backers who can
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: play all three downs, but at a superstar level, like
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: a keek Ley and Fred Warner.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: Like they're those.
- 1:27:36Speaker 10: Guys that you get him, you paying thirty million, and
- 1:27:38Speaker 10: you don't let him walk out the door.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:40Speaker 10: Yeah, there's always exceptions to all of these rules, right,
- 1:27:44Speaker 10: Like that's why those guys are the elite of the elite.
- 1:27:47Speaker 10: But every other team is trying to figure out Most
- 1:27:49Speaker 10: teams are trying to figure out how to be good
- 1:27:51Speaker 10: in all these areas without just having the best player
- 1:27:54Speaker 10: on the field. If you have the best player on
- 1:27:56Speaker 10: the field, it makes coaching a lot of these intricacies
- 1:27:59Speaker 10: a lot simpler.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to assume too.
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: These are how a lot of these staff meetings probably
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: go when trying to game plan.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Yeah, what bodies are we going to be putting out there?
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: This was fun?
- 1:28:09Speaker 7: Great, It all goes hand in hand.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: It all goes hand in hand.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: What are we going to see I formation again?
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: Twenty two personnel saw you saw something you saw, so yeah,
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: you're seeing it again like yesterday.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Like Downhill isotype stuff.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: Yesterday Joe Brady, they were they were gashing him with
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: some rap leads in twelve like twenty two personnel, like
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: some good old fashioned rap leads that were gashing them spags.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: They adjust to it in the second half, but again
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: it's like you're just seeing some of these old like
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: some of the traditional sets just coming back. Whether or
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: not they should run game and everything else, but it's
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: been fun.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: It's been fun.
- 1:28:42Speaker 10: I think teams should do it more. Now does everybody
- 1:28:44Speaker 10: have a full back? That's a different conversation. It's kind
- 1:28:47Speaker 10: of a lost art. But like, I think teams should
- 1:28:51Speaker 10: run more two back. I think it really works well
- 1:28:53Speaker 10: under center play action. I think it really does a
- 1:28:55Speaker 10: stressful job on the defense changing gaps. And now we're
- 1:28:59Speaker 10: splitting apps with a lead blocker, right, so now that
- 1:29:01Speaker 10: that that b gap.
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: Will insert play that everyone ran for him.
- 1:29:05Speaker 10: It was like the first install any of us ever learned, right,
- 1:29:07Speaker 10: was ie formation to the weak side, and the full
- 1:29:11Speaker 10: back and the will linebacker just smashed into each other.
- 1:29:13Speaker 7: Yeah, well, the part.
- 1:29:15Speaker 10: We never learned back in the day that now defenses
- 1:29:17Speaker 10: are realizing is well, all of a sudden, that B
- 1:29:19Speaker 10: gap became two gaps, So now you need to have
- 1:29:22Speaker 10: two players, someone on the outside of the blocker inside.
- 1:29:25Speaker 10: It's hard teams. These kids don't grow up fitting full
- 1:29:29Speaker 10: back ISO anymore. They don't they don't do two back
- 1:29:32Speaker 10: power anymore. Like, these guys are not used to defending
- 1:29:35Speaker 10: these plays. So if you are good at that element,
- 1:29:37Speaker 10: it can be a very effective kind of wrinkle that
- 1:29:40Speaker 10: defenses are not accustomed to defending.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, before before we get you out of here. Yeah,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: Ravens destroy the Dolphins. The Dolphins fire their GM Chris Greer,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: but they don't fire McDaniels. How do we feel about that?
- 1:30:00Speaker 10: So I'll be I want to be very clear. I
- 1:30:02Speaker 10: never call for anyone to get fired. I think they're
- 1:30:05Speaker 10: in a society where I've been cut, I've been released,
- 1:30:09Speaker 10: I've been traded. I've been on teams where my position
- 1:30:12Speaker 10: coach got fired and I had to sit in his
- 1:30:14Speaker 10: office and like literally sit there and be like, dude,
- 1:30:16Speaker 10: I failed you, like my tight end coach, you got
- 1:30:19Speaker 10: fired like that was because of me or offensive coordinator
- 1:30:23Speaker 10: head coach.
- 1:30:23Speaker 7: I've been on a team with the head coaches.
- 1:30:25Speaker 10: So I've experienced all that, so I never I think
- 1:30:28Speaker 10: we're in a society where fans really disconnect, Like these
- 1:30:31Speaker 10: are human beings with jobs and families and they're losing
- 1:30:34Speaker 10: their livelihood and they got to uproot and go somewhere else.
- 1:30:38Speaker 10: I get why, because the environment and the competitive spirit.
- 1:30:40Speaker 10: So I just want to preface it by saying I
- 1:30:42Speaker 10: don't ever root for anyone to get fired.
- 1:30:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I was shocked.
- 1:30:47Speaker 10: That if a change was made, it was going to
- 1:30:49Speaker 10: be in the front office. Like watching that game. I
- 1:30:53Speaker 10: don't know if at any point now are they the
- 1:30:55Speaker 10: most talented roster. No, but did I watch that game
- 1:30:59Speaker 10: and be like, and if the GM did a better job,
- 1:31:01Speaker 10: they wouldn't have wasted that time out, or the GM
- 1:31:04Speaker 10: did a better job, they wouldn't have gotten that illegal formation,
- 1:31:06Speaker 10: or like all the little details that kind of fell
- 1:31:09Speaker 10: apart for Miami, especially early in that game when they
- 1:31:13Speaker 10: were still competitive and they were in it.
- 1:31:16Speaker 7: I don't to.
- 1:31:17Speaker 10: Wake up the next day and see change was made.
- 1:31:20Speaker 10: Maybe wasn't surprising. I'm not saying I would have fired Mike,
- 1:31:25Speaker 10: but I don't know. That just felt that felt personal,
- 1:31:30Speaker 10: That felt like it had been brewing, and there was
- 1:31:32Speaker 10: personal animosity between ownership again I'm speculating right, and front office,
- 1:31:37Speaker 10: and like the owner just felt like, we have to
- 1:31:40Speaker 10: do something. We're in bed with this coach. He's our
- 1:31:42Speaker 10: offensive play caller. We don't want to replace the OC
- 1:31:45Speaker 10: and head coach, which ultimately you would be doing. But
- 1:31:48Speaker 10: our fans are also not going to wake up this
- 1:31:50Speaker 10: morning and just say status quo is acceptable. So it
- 1:31:53Speaker 10: kind of felt like that to me. But that was
- 1:31:58Speaker 10: a tough That was tough ball to watch that. There
- 1:32:00Speaker 10: was a lot going on in that game.
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: That's just bat ball.
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: They were in fourth and goal once and I think
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: they went maybe an empty and throw a fade ball.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: To the It was, Yeah, it was horrendous to watch.
- 1:32:16Speaker 10: They want to throw a first down jump ball to
- 1:32:18Speaker 10: Justin Jefferson, Okay.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I mean the reason why I even brought
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: that question, the reason why I even bring that question up,
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: was that Steven A. Smith the next day, he's going
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: on a tangent. I think he was making like a
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: racial thing about everything going down there. I'm not going
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: down that road. I'm looking at from a longer playstandpoint,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: where you know, Mike McDaniels at the end of the year,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: when it's the Black Friday or the Black Monday, whenever
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: they start getting rid of head coaches, I think his
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: name ends up getting called and cut where the Dolphins
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: need a new head coach. The the thing that I
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: think makes us a good mover where I can look
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: at it and be Okay, I can see why they
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: did that, was you look at teams like the Titans
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: or other franchises that have had like this up and down,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: where you hire a head coach, then you get a
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: general manager. Those two don't necessarily get along, so when
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: you fire the head coach and then and then it's
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: kind of back and forth, you're losing one gaining behind
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: the always. So maybe in this way, like you know
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: who your general manager is going to be in the future,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: you figure that out to where you know who his
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: guy is going to be, so it's gonna be one
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: smooth transition when he gets the new year, the new
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: year of the new season, and you have a GM
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: a head coach that are aligned with the ownership. That's
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: the only place I can look at and be like,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: all right, maybe this is a good chess move for
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: the Dolphins. Am I making any sense in that?
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: Yeah, you're saying get rid of If you get rid
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: of the GM, now you're on the lookout. You're trying
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: to figure out your GM.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: You're gonna find out your GM guy who's essentially gonna
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: find your head coach, is going to be as well
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: because you go get you fire the head coach and
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: the GM's there. Well, obviously they're not happy with the GM.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: He gets rid of the whole entire secondary from last year.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Their secondary is not great, Like, they haven't done a
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: good job of establishing a competitive roster, so he's gonna
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: be gone as well. You might as well get the
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: top piece first before you insert this head coach piece.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: So everyone's kind of a line top to bottom.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: Does that make sense? Yeah? I can buy that.
- 1:34:03Speaker 10: I think there's an order of operations. Yeah, that is
- 1:34:06Speaker 10: part of this whole entire picture, right, and then you
- 1:34:08Speaker 10: factor in how many teams that we've seen do the
- 1:34:11Speaker 10: alternating front office head coach draft a quarterback, then fire
- 1:34:15Speaker 10: the coach draft like and that song and dance just
- 1:34:18Speaker 10: ends up you end up chasing your tail. There is
- 1:34:19Speaker 10: an order of operations that makes sense to all of us.
- 1:34:24Speaker 10: It doesn't feel like that's the order that most teams
- 1:34:26Speaker 10: end up operating in. I'd also add to that, like
- 1:34:31Speaker 10: when was the last time, I mean, I guess when
- 1:34:33Speaker 10: the Panthers fired they fired a rule and promoted Wilkes.
- 1:34:40Speaker 10: I would argue that they got better. But traditionally speaking,
- 1:34:44Speaker 10: what team that's so bad that they fire their coach
- 1:34:47Speaker 10: during the season promotes an interim and things get better?
- 1:34:51Speaker 10: Like let's look at this year, like, are the Titans better?
- 1:34:55Speaker 10: I mean, you follow them obviously, Taylor, Like, have things
- 1:34:57Speaker 10: gotten better because they fired their coach? And we five
- 1:35:01Speaker 10: last year with the Jets when they fired Salah, did
- 1:35:04Speaker 10: things get better? I mean, like, generally speaking, firing your
- 1:35:10Speaker 10: head coach might feel good. It might just stop having
- 1:35:12Speaker 10: that question asked in the in the press conferences and
- 1:35:16Speaker 10: articles stopped being written. But as far as actually affecting
- 1:35:19Speaker 10: the outcome and the competency of your football, there might
- 1:35:23Speaker 10: be a couple outliers where interim coaches have actually improved it.
- 1:35:26Speaker 10: Wilkes is the first one that comes.
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: To the wind. In Carolina, Basacia years ago went out.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: I mean, Mike Malarkey when he was the internet coach.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: We won one more game, win nine and seven the
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: next year.
- 1:35:41Speaker 10: Yea, yeah, yeah, so there's a couple of outliers. Traditionally speaking,
- 1:35:46Speaker 10: it just continues to unfold, right, It just are usually
- 1:35:51Speaker 10: bad for a reason. You're usually getting fired for a
- 1:35:53Speaker 10: reason every now and then. Can a message connect better?
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: Sure?
- 1:35:58Speaker 10: When we fired Ron Rivera with I don't know, three games,
- 1:36:01Speaker 10: two or three games left in our twenty nineteen season,
- 1:36:06Speaker 10: it got exponentially worse. Like I don't know, I just
- 1:36:11Speaker 10: I'm not a big fan of just like doing shit
- 1:36:13Speaker 10: for the sake of doing it if it's not going
- 1:36:16Speaker 10: to have it, if there's not someone on that staff
- 1:36:18Speaker 10: that you go, oh, man, let's make this guy the
- 1:36:20Speaker 10: head coach, and I want to see what turns around.
- 1:36:22Speaker 10: If that guy's not potentially your full time head coach
- 1:36:26Speaker 10: going forward, there's no reason to make them the interim
- 1:36:29Speaker 10: for the next seven games and just delay the inevitable.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: Yeah right right. A head coach with three games left
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: is just insane, that's.
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: To you, Antonio.
- 1:36:40Speaker 7: It was either maybe it was three or it might
- 1:36:41Speaker 7: have been four games, three or four games.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: You get past that week eight mark and there's not
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: a guy that you're ently saying, hey, let's see what
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: this dude's resume is as an interim head coach on
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: your in staff. There there is no reason.
- 1:36:53Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I guess it isn't like a tryout kind
- 1:36:57Speaker 10: of a thing. If you feel like there's the person
- 1:36:58Speaker 10: on your staff and I guess that's that's that's probably fair.
- 1:37:02Speaker 10: There's also this fake reality of like getting a head start.
- 1:37:07Speaker 10: I don't buy that, Like I don't think of today's
- 1:37:09Speaker 10: day and age head coaches are like, well, I don't
- 1:37:12Speaker 10: really want to go to the Tennessee Titans, just for example,
- 1:37:15Speaker 10: Like you know, I don't want to go to Tennessee,
- 1:37:17Speaker 10: but they fired their coach so they could contact me earlier,
- 1:37:20Speaker 10: So I'm just going to take that job instead of
- 1:37:22Speaker 10: waiting to see. I don't think that's how the system works.
- 1:37:24Speaker 10: I think good coaches get hired. Whether you fire your
- 1:37:27Speaker 10: coach in week five or you fire your coach in
- 1:37:30Speaker 10: the second round of the playoffs.
- 1:37:32Speaker 7: I think I don't know. I don't know. I just
- 1:37:34Speaker 7: think a lot of that is overblown.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree with that. I'm solid. Greg, you are
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: the man, bro. Do you have any more for him?
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: No? I appreciate you, great theys, taking time, great ball.
- 1:37:43Speaker 7: What coach is jumping on today.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: Who we got to that we have?
- 1:37:47Speaker 7: Last week we had Elco jump in.
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: Yeah, how cool was that? Heyl with Elcho? It was great, dude,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: seeing you guys talk about a couple of Jersey boys
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: just hanging out for a little bit. That was awesome.
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: Yeah, we got to Tony V's coming on the bus.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Nude manager for the San Francisco Giants got I.
- 1:38:04Speaker 7: Viewed him on my pod a couple of weeks.
- 1:38:06Speaker 10: Uh we a couple of weeks ago, like literally two
- 1:38:09Speaker 10: weeks before he took that job.
- 1:38:10Speaker 7: I interviewed him. He's the man, bro, He's awesome.
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: He is awesome. But he's coming on the bus to
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: join us. I don't know if we have any head
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: coaches tuned in.
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: Yeah no, no, not this week.
- 1:38:19Speaker 4: Just you.
- 1:38:19Speaker 10: Well, you guys were the best man. I always love
- 1:38:21Speaker 10: coming on and talking ball with you guys. Appreciate you
- 1:38:23Speaker 10: all right, Greg, thank you.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Bring around them Paulus real quick. Appreciate Greg game.
- 1:38:27Speaker 7: Appreciate you.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: I'm talking about dude wipes.

- 1:38:42Speaker 2: Use dude wipes because that keeps it away from doing that.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: I didn't fully are you following the ball when it
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: comes to getting a confident clean back of your end zone.
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: When you hit the same paper and the toilet peper
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: starts kind of falling apart, and it's like a lot.
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: Of bunches in your butt a little bit, you know,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: you get like the dingleberries in your ass. Yeah yeah,

- 1:40:49Speaker 1: Duh subscribe.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: By the way, Steelers beating the Colts.
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean one hundred and seventy nine million dollars defense.
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: You know what the biggest thing was they got after
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: the fucking quarterback.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: You watch all the film the Steels, it seemed like
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: all that money up front high Smith, what who's the
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: Who's the d tackle? Cameron Hayward, Like they weren't really
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: getting the quarterback at all. But this game, for whatever reason,
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: I guess an off it's the line who give up
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: the second most sacks in the NFL. They were getting
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: after Daniel Jones' ass and that was the biggest difference
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: maker to me when watching that film.
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: Yeah, who's last named Peyton? Forty one?
- 1:41:28Speaker 9: Peyton's NC State. He's a linebacker that we got late
- 1:41:31Speaker 9: in the draft because he has no MCLs and his knees.
- 1:41:33Speaker 9: Best linebacker in that class, dude, he's he can run,
- 1:41:36Speaker 9: he can run combined dog like.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, all white team.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: Yeah, they might be out there, but yeah, I thought
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: that was a massive win for Pittsburgh. Tough two for
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: the Coat, I want to say Danny dines through three picks.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Three picks to fumbles. Yeah, tough day at.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: The John Us either. Yeah.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Yeah. It makes it AFC, the AFC North. It makes
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: it way more interesting now because the Ravens are gonna
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: continue to think they're gonna continue to win. They continue
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: to do the thing. I think they'll beat the Vikings
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: this weekend. But the Steelers, it's like, do we fall
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: back in love with the idea of them winning the
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: AFC North.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: It'll be I mean it'll be close because they're what
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: two games apart, two games.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: Apart right now, and they played December seventh. Is the
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: next time those two teams see each other?
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yea.
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: We are in a spiral of of Jacoby Meyers rumors
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: for all of Pittsburgh right now, like we're begging for
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: another receiver. And that's every chat board right now. I
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: thought we looked okay, I thought we looked good. Knew
- 1:42:37Speaker 9: we're going to beat the Colts. But like Pittsburgh is.
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: You knew you were going to beat the colt.
- 1:42:42Speaker 9: The No, no, no, those are the games we win. We're
- 1:42:44Speaker 9: gonna lose to the Browns, We're probably gonna beat the
- 1:42:46Speaker 9: Bengals and split. We'll lose to the Ravens. We'll lose
- 1:42:48Speaker 9: to bad teams. We beat good teams. That's what Tomlin does.
- 1:42:51Speaker 9: He brings us back every single year, brings us back in.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: Have you ever been on the the stance of tom
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: and needs to go h oh close to me?
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: Believe so?
- 1:43:01Speaker 9: But I've never said those words Tomlin is We're never
- 1:43:04Speaker 9: going to find another guy that's just better than him.
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: Would I eventually root for him on another team? Yes,
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: I would root for Tomlin to coach a different team
- 1:43:11Speaker 9: if that happened. I have never asked for Tomlin to not.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: Be my head coach.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Buddy. Yeah, you don't want to lose him.
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: You don't Another team I just don't want to quit
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: on is the Texans.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: I know you don't and honestly, like doesn't get hurt
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: in that game, like Texas probably will walk away with
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: that game.
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: The Broncos are winning games like the Chiefs did last year.
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, and when did you get in?
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: Their defense is so fucking good?
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: Were you guys tuned into that game?
- 1:43:38Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: So do you see when what's his name is it?
- 1:43:41Speaker 6: R J Harvey?
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: R J Harvey scored out.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: Of the backfield to catch that and on that linebacker
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: from Alabama on the Texans tote athletic linebacker. But again, hey,
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: no bam call. Running back comes out of the backfield
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: and sets them up on an option, right, so your
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: thinking he's gonna break in or out. He takes off
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: behind him easy, touchdown easy, and everybody's like, I'm sure
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: everybody's screaming to Oto whatever he can't cover, get him up.
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: That is such a hard fucking route to cover. If
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: you that's why you gotta use.
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: That bam call.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Gotta use it.
- 1:44:16Speaker 7: Got to be a hero.
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: Sean Payton offense, Drew Brees bam stay before him.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: Can I answer you? U's a question. I know we're
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: gonna be sitting this bus.
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: I'll take one.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: Yes, Yes, coffee is anybody Coffee's one? Two?
- 1:44:28Speaker 7: I'm good?
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Three? God bless it's November. Yeah, so what are we doing?
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: Spootoba's over? How great was Spootoo? We'll get to that
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: in the recap.
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: We'll get to that, get to that bus and get
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: to that bus. Yeah tomorrow, I'm doing Hey. And while
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: you're talking about that, Jay, anything else on NFL before
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: we get back to college.
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: Did y'all hit on the Bengals?
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: Did not hit on Bengals? Bears got to I wasn't.
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: I didn't get to watch. I got to sew. I
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: got to see the clips after and seeing Jamar Chase
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: just needed one, like everybody just kind of going in
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: on that defense, like if you get any type of
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: life on defense, like you win that game.
- 1:45:07Speaker 6: You should have been watching because t Higgins decided to
- 1:45:09Speaker 6: have the best game.
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: I saw that he's on the Yeah, he's on the
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: fantasy team. I saw you was sitting around like six
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: to eight points before.
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: That went off.
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: Bro to touchdowns that you'll get the fuck off me
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: catch Oh yeah.
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: The Bengals are the first team ever to score thirty
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: eight points in back to back weeks and still lose
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: both games. We were talking about this, Bro.
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: That has to just I mean, you saw it on
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: everybody's face, but just the morale death that just happens
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: when it's like the defense just one possession.
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: We were talking about this in our pre pro meeting
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: conversation to be had about Joe Flacco in the MVP conversation.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: Per Mitch per Mitch, Yeah, I mean, hey, if you
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: if we didn't make an envy like a senior m VP,
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: if we get like the top five NFL players, will
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: be like, this is our guy this year. That needs
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: to be a thing because Joe Flacco was doing things.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: Because what was thet be better than Brady at this age?
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: What was the stat that was just said thirty first
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: team to score over thirty eight two weeks in a
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: row and they lose, Like, if you're gonna be the
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: mv Like, even if we hypothetically play this game of
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: Joe Flacco be in the m v P, like the
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: Bengals would still be turned around and coming back in
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: like winning games.
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: But I wouldn't say, like, Bro, they won the game.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: They're putting up exactly, They're putting up thirty eight points,
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: Like you would like to think scoring thirty eight points,
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: you're gonna win every game, every game.
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: Joe b didn't win the m v P last year,
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: and that was the entire story of the season, just
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: he doesn't have a defense.
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: If he had a defense he'd be walking.
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And honestly, I think there's an argument. I think
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: Joey b should have won it, like his numbers.
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: Who's been on the team the entire time, like he
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: was also on the Browns.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Listen, at the end of the day, we're talking about
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Joe Flacco winning the MVP, which I know is not
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: the case.
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: It's a conversation.
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: It's a conversation. I do think Joe Burrow should have
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: won the MVP last year because it's like who's the
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: most like the most valuable player, and Joe Burrow, after
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: going what three and five or whatever their record was,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: like ends up being like one or two games away
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: from getting into the playoffs. Like without Joe Burrow, that
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: doesn't happen. Joe Flacco, buddy, he is incredible. To where
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: we put so much on the Cowboys defense, it's like
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: it's kind of muzzled and we've kind of forgot about
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: the Bengals defense. The Bengals defense, there needs to be
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: an indictment in all of them. Every single guy out
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: there needs to be questioned. Well, the difference is the
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: Bengals being the AFC North. Everybody's talking about the Ravens comeback.
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: Steelers kind of have the division right now at the moment.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: And then with the with the Cowboys. Like the Cowboys,
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: they're still in conversations of the division. They're not everybody
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: is everybody else convinced? I guess we can be convinced
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: of the Eagles.
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: The Eagles.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: The Eagles are of all the of all the divisions,
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: the Eagles are the most clearly going to win their
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: division most clearly. The Commanders just lost it. Commanders just
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: lost bad and their quarterback when they was thirty eight
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: to seven and he's still in the game with seven
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: minutes left. The Cowboys defense is horrendous. And if they
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: play all their games at home, yeah, I could see
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: the Cowboys making it to the playoffs. They score forty
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: two points a game when they're at home. And then
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: there's the Giants Science who just lost camp and it's like, yeah, yeah,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Jackson Dart who put up twenty four points last game.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: But it's it's the forty nine Ers who have all
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: their first team out, who are literally down the most
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: people in all of the NFL that that division is
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: it's over. And I feel very comfortable saying that that
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: division is done.
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: Weeks ago, you were buying the Cowboys. You're like this team, right.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: And they broke my fucking heart. Will? All right, I
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: sat there, I did the whole girlfriend thing. We dated,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: I fell in love. I said I love you first.
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: You know what they said back to me, thank you.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: Turns out they were cheating on me with a hotter guy.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Like that is the feeling I have for the Cowboys
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: right now. Your offense is a championship caliber offense at home,
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: you're a different team when you're away. And your defense,
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: regardless if your home, we're away, you're bad. That's how
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: it is. That's point blank.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: I just don't think it's Philly's like the most clear
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: cut division winner.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: I like, it's like I did just say that, pulled
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: the divisions. Pull the divisions.
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: You got the Bucks and it's Falcons Panthers that are
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: behind them.
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: Colts have the game they do. It's like the Jags
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: and Hugh like, Will is not willing to go rom
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: the Texans so that that you throw them out the window.
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: AFC West obviously is not just the Broncos are running
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: with it. Uh, the North, that's it. That's gonna be
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: a shit show. The Bengals should be in that conversation
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: these last two games, but their defense sucks so bad.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: The East, it's Patriots.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: And Bills all right now.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: NFC East Eagles clearly okay, go down. NFC North, we
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: have no idea who's gonna win that division.
- 1:49:50Speaker 8: And breaking news confirmed test reports Tucker Kraft torn Aco. Oh,
- 1:49:56Speaker 8: very sad news for the boy and he was on
- 1:49:58Speaker 8: pace for a really history.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: Yeah, people were saying best tight in the NFL. Yeah,
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: that is heartbreaking. Should we have a moment of silence
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: for dark Craft? Hats off.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: Beer Olympics alumni. We love you Tucker, We.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: Love you, Tucker Dog. That is heartbreaking, heartbreaking.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: NFC West is up in the air. But look at
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: the NFC South.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: NFC South, Yeah that that's a great argument, is the
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: NFC South. Yeah, that's a great that's a that's going
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: But it's like the Bucks are, that the Panthers are
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: weirdly sneaky, that the Falcons are like the most inconsistent
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: team in all of the NFL. But like you could
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: see some shit going down, especially with Tampa Bay being
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: as injured as they are, they might drop a couple
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: and might get weird in December. That's the argument there.
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: I do think the Bucks walk away with that division
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: NFC NFC West, we don't even need to have a conversation.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: That's a that's a three way race right now, is
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: that it? It's like, if you're looking at all of
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: these divisions, we can all sit here in confee be
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: like the Eagles are going to win the NFC East.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: That is I'm going I'm willing to put responsibly my
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: mortgage on it.
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: Responsible Where the Cowboys just rain hell tonight next week,
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: You're gonna be like the cowboy.
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: No, I can't do that again. And if I do
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: do that, that's when your boys, when you're always in
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: a TALKX relationship, like you got to sit them down
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: and you guys say, be like Taylor, listen, you did
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: this two weeks ago, don't do this again. And Derek, honestly,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: I'm looking at you, gotta be the guy to get
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: me on that one pinky promise done because I am
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: a cat, I'm a hopeless romantic. I will fall for
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: that traff again. You see me with the Steelers.
- 1:51:33Speaker 9: I'm in the same relationship right now, but I don't
- 1:51:35Speaker 9: want anyone to tell me.
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: To get away from the relationship.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: I know what I'm doing.
- 1:51:38Speaker 9: I'll sign up for it, but I'll protect you from
- 1:51:40Speaker 9: what you're about to get into.
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: I can respect that. And Mitch, I didn't ask you,
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: but I got you a seasonal bevy. I got it
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: hot though. Is that okay?
- 1:51:46Speaker 7: Whatever works?
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: Cool?
- 1:51:47Speaker 10: Hey?
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: Also, don't sleep yours whole milk, thank you.
- 1:51:50Speaker 8: Do not sleep on what it is being called potentially
- 1:51:52Speaker 8: the biggest game of the season Week seventeen Titan Saints
- 1:51:56Speaker 8: for the first round of the draft pick.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: Yeah, don't say it's.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: What we all want, dude, It's what we all said
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: on Twitter.
- 1:52:01Speaker 8: It's either going to be a six to three or
- 1:52:04Speaker 8: eighty five to eighty seven final score.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: So yeah, we'll see if JP.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: What happened to Rattler? Man, what do you mean he
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: got bench last year? Benched? Yeah, we talked about this
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: last week, I know, on the on the bus.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh but yeah, tell us dude, Yeah.
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: I mean, you know, it's it's unfortunate there was the
- 1:52:26Speaker 6: wrong move, But I hope Spencer Ratler ends up. JJ
- 1:52:30Speaker 6: McCarthy had an amazing game, but he would be nice
- 1:52:33Speaker 6: in a Minnesota in the backup role if he comes
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: in that's somebody that coached coach McConnell could have dialed,
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: because yeah, I mean the Saints will see the Saints
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: probably won't win another game. Like, I don't know if
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: y'all watch their game at all this week.
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: First of rams, I had it on for until it
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: was twenty seven.
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: I was like it was horrible. Yeah, Like the only
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: way they moved the ball was some like a roughing
- 1:52:57Speaker 6: the passer penalty that led to a touchdown and Taysom
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: hill Hey had their biggest play of the game. It
- 1:53:08Speaker 6: was a bad it's a bad move by the Saints,
- 1:53:10Speaker 6: and it's if you you took Schuck in the second round.
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: You see the way your season is going. The last
- 1:53:15Speaker 6: thing you really want to do, if you do think
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: he's your future, is get the fan base against him
- 1:53:20Speaker 6: in this season and because nothing's gonna go good.
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: You should have kept Rattler out there. Man, should have kept.
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: Absolutely because now they like, you can't go back to
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: him if you're the Saints, right, Like.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: It's a long season. I never know that one win
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: situation to just keep doing your thing. Man, Like, I
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: think whatever the Saints want to do, we just kind
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: of let him do We don't judge anything from here
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: on out. Titans though, Titans Saints. If it's so clear
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: that these are the two teams that are gonna fight
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: for the for the number one draft pick, I feel
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: like there needs to be an executive order that the
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: winner of that game gets the number one draft pick.
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: Yeah, Oh that would happen? Would happen?
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: Could it? Who did pull up the Jets schedule real quick?
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: If you don't mind, because I mean, buddy, you put
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: any they want. I mean, unless they're playing each other,
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: like justin field.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: I could see them sneaking the Browns, the Dolphins. Yeah,
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: they got the Dolphins. Who knows about the Jags too? Man,
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: I just don't know what's going to that huge game,
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: mad game Saints last two of three they got, they
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: got a chance to fuck it all up.
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: Yeah, December, the last three weeks could.
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: Tell a lot rattler in the last three weeks, go
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: three and.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Now that would mess up everything.
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: He will be a starter in the NFL again. I'll
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: say that he.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: Just guts he has to go to Minnesota. Do we
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: think JJ's back to dude against the Lions.
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's at the line. It was like yards
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: like he made the place through for.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: Two touchdowns, ran for one, like committed. He like didn't
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: look long, he didn't look lost. I'll say that.
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: Crying, no raging. Oh he was using that Dan Lanning
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: love his mentality.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: I mean that throw to ice the game.
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: Yes, beautiful on real throat.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Wonder was it? There was one that Addison Jefferson he
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: threw it under the dB and like it was beautiful.
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: He had a beautiful ball to in the end zone
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: to Addison.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: Yeah you come up with Yeah, Addison dropped right.
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: Yeah, he's showing sparks. But it's just like you need.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: Obviously, I can't believe the Vikings beat the Lights at Detroit.
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: May It just makes you question everything because I'm I
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: still think the Lions are the best team.
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: Weirdly enough, the Rams and Seattle play, Yes, I mean
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I will. I will be by the Seattle Seahawks.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: I will buy that.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: J s n is unbelieved. How was he open all
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: the time.
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: And pooka bro like I did his game. This was
- 1:56:01Speaker 6: his first game back from the injury, and I don't
- 1:56:03Speaker 6: know if y'all saw the pass like his first touchdown
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: catch oh my, the the ball was a dime, but
- 1:56:10Speaker 6: the catch was just absurd, like almost double coverage, late
- 1:56:13Speaker 6: hands right on the front side of the pylon. Like
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: it looks unfair.
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: Getting like plus twenty points in Fantasy each on the
- 1:56:22Speaker 5: same team.
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: Are nice?
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: Are nice?
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: Stafford's conversation Sammy d Drake May there's going to be
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: the three.
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: Ship. Josh Donald'll still be in it.
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: Breaks my heart with Daniel will still be in it.
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: This could be the end of Daniel Jones.
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: Kidding, I'm just kidding, but that is a game where
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: people just throw that. You know.
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: It's like if if Mahomes or Josh Allen had a
- 1:56:49Speaker 4: game like that, people would write them off that quickly.
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: I think Colt's losing like that and Daniel Jones having
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: three picks, it'll be quick.
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, you know, I'm ready to say, yeah,
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: overrated you.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: I saw your tweets saying maybe I was right. I
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: was like, God, damn it. That made me and also
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: like people, Patrick Mahomes had his worst completion percentage of
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: his career.
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and he had the ball, had the ball left.
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: That's why you need a good run game.
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: Something to keep an eye on.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: Greg. Greg by the way he's talking like we're essentially
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: having the same argument. Like yeah, Like he's saying, like
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: the run game is good, but you can't just have
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: a run game. I'm saying the run game compliments the past,
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: and that's what helps your pass game to the ball.
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: You gotta be able to do both. And if you
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: have a good run game, it's easier to throw the ball.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: That's all I'm trying to say out here, all right.
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: Taylor saying out outside zone left like that boy, Taylor
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: just talking directly from his own experience of you run
- 1:57:54Speaker 4: the ball.
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: You're able to run if you're able to run left.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: You able to run left if you can if you
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: can run a run, play and have the same exact
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: action and a play action play dude, and be successful
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: in the run game. You're going to win a lot.
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: You're gonna score a lot of points. Yeah, You're gonna
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: score a lot of points. Yeah, that's all I'm trying
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: to say.
- 1:58:14Speaker 4: Uh, any more college football talk a JP. I see
- 1:58:17Speaker 4: you guys fired the OC.
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: Mike make some moves something about fire and OC just
- 1:58:23Speaker 6: breeze life into a fan base. Why not go three
- 1:58:26Speaker 6: and oh and make a bowl.
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: Game why not?
- 1:58:29Speaker 6: And I mean I would not want to be Texas
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: A and M We got them this week. Well we
- 1:58:34Speaker 6: got to buy That's what That's what I'm trying to say.
- 1:58:36Speaker 6: That's what I'm trying to tell you you. The game
- 1:58:39Speaker 6: Cocks are going into College Station off of bye Yeah,
- 1:58:42Speaker 6: with probably co offensive coordinators. Yeah, good luck game planning
- 1:58:45Speaker 6: for that.
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: You know, you bring up the mirror theory of the
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: locker room. They should have like one of the you know,
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: the carnivals when you walk into those rooms and there's
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: mirrors everywhere, there's a bunch of different angles of you.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: That's the move in the locker room this week. Correct,
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: Just all mirrors everywhere. You can't look anywhere without looking back.
- 1:58:59Speaker 6: At your dude, I saw fire up all the headset.
- 1:59:04Speaker 2: The headset.
- 1:59:05Speaker 6: Yeah, they're like, can somebody tell me who Mike is?
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: Because you guys are close there for a minute.
- 1:59:09Speaker 6: Yeah, what's Oh yeah, dude, it was oh my gosh.
- 1:59:13Speaker 6: We we made a stop and we were going to
- 1:59:15Speaker 6: get the ball back. I think it was fourteen seventeen.
- 1:59:18Speaker 6: They punt it, muffed the punt. Oh, we hold him.
- 1:59:24Speaker 6: They're down there at our five. Our defense played incredible.
- 1:59:27Speaker 6: We hold them punt and it's just like man or Yeah,
- 1:59:32Speaker 6: like I guess they kicked the field goal. We just
- 1:59:35Speaker 6: do nothing with our drive. We rank in the bottom
- 1:59:37Speaker 6: like five teams of offense in college football.
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: Heartbreaking.
- 1:59:41Speaker 6: But now he's gone.
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: So now top five for the last three weeks.
- 1:59:45Speaker 6: Yeah, top five, top five three weeks. Classic.
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: Do you think?
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: Do you think you guys are the nail the coffin
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: for Dabbo?
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: No?
- 1:59:53Speaker 6: No, he'll be there next year for sure. But I
- 1:59:55Speaker 6: was at that Clemson game and you want to talk
- 1:59:58Speaker 6: about some fireworks though the offenses were going nuts, and
- 2:00:01Speaker 6: if you're a Clemson fan, you're sick that we fired
- 2:00:04Speaker 6: Tchula because that was probably the only hope they had
- 2:00:07Speaker 6: to be us. But it was, Yeah, that was Dabo
- 2:00:11Speaker 6: did not fall down the hill. I was. That's one
- 2:00:13Speaker 6: of the main reasons I went the season's going bad.
- 2:00:16Speaker 6: There's a chance it's the ultimate image of their season.
- 2:00:20Speaker 6: If Dabo finally trips going down the hill. No injuries,
- 2:00:23Speaker 6: but you know he likes to run fast down there
- 2:00:25Speaker 6: and do his thing. And I was so far ahead
- 2:00:28Speaker 6: I wanted to be sure I was there in case
- 2:00:29Speaker 6: he did fall.
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: Are we talking?
- 2:00:31Speaker 4: You'd like to see something where it's lighting up to
- 2:00:34Speaker 4: where he's just in a boot.
- 2:00:36Speaker 6: Yeah boot would be fine, boot for a week or two. Yeah,
- 2:00:39Speaker 6: but he could pull off just a roll where you know,
- 2:00:41Speaker 6: you kind of bounce back up. I know he's a
- 2:00:42Speaker 6: little bit older now, yeah, but something just to.
- 2:00:46Speaker 2: Slow him down that run down the hill.
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: I hate that. I absolutely hate that.
- 2:00:52Speaker 6: I just post the video not really thinking much of it,
- 2:00:54Speaker 6: and then I after the game, I look and it
- 2:00:56Speaker 6: has like a million views. Everyone's just hating him.
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: It's like perfect, Yeah, dude, Dabbo saying I don't know
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: if I'll get fired.
- 2:01:05Speaker 6: I mean that was yeah, which if you're Clemson now
- 2:01:09Speaker 6: you would want to see that because the defense just
- 2:01:12Speaker 6: completely fumbled. But him saying that in front of the
- 2:01:14Speaker 6: athletic director is just one of the more arrogant moves
- 2:01:18Speaker 6: you can make, and not a good.
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: Move doing his posturing game. But he's an uncharted territory,
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: is what he is. Like, he's never had this kind
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: of fire on him before, I know, and he's trying
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: to figure out what move is the best move, and
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: he's he's going about it multiple different ways, and he
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: won't just pick a lane, like pick a lane and
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: stick with it, because buddy, you're making it look way worse.
- 2:01:37Speaker 6: Medium was so quiet?
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: Was it really crazy?
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: Do you think the where's the game this year? South Carolina?
- 2:01:42Speaker 6: Clemson, South Carolina?
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: Loud, no matter low, no matter what. You guys have
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: been here before.
- 2:01:48Speaker 6: We've lost twenty two games in a row before.
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: Us ship.
- 2:01:53Speaker 6: Yeah, what are we talking about?
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: You guys?
- 2:01:55Speaker 6: He lost?
- 2:01:57Speaker 1: You guys are it's a movie? You guys got I'm
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: not scared of this. Yeah, got up to your head? Yeah, bro,
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: that is crazy. Crazy.
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: Oregon goes to Iowa this week.
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: That's gonna be a spicy game. Dan Lanning not going nowhere,
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: he says, not going anywhere.
- 2:02:14Speaker 3: Kirk Farn's talking ship to Lanning.
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: Do you hear about that?
- 2:02:19Speaker 2: I heard there's some text from you.
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: Don't want to wait to the locker room, wait to
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: the locker room.
- 2:02:24Speaker 2: We save that for the locker room talk. Save that
- 2:02:27Speaker 2: for the locker room talk.
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: God, I'll tell you what, dude, Justice Hayes having surgery
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: on his foot kind of breaks my heart.
- 2:02:35Speaker 6: The other guy bought out though, Jah Jordan.
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: I mean, one thing's for sure, Mission's gonna run the football,
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: run the football, play good defense. But I just want
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: I just need that passing and like I truly believe
- 2:02:49Speaker 1: in Bryce Underwood. I just there was four or five
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: plays there where it's a completely different stat line that
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: I was. I've already said this. I'm doubling down because
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: I'm just thinking about it too much. Is like that
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: was that should have been the game plan. Let him
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: throw the ball and buddy, it's just a couple of reads,
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: a couple of misses.
- 2:03:10Speaker 2: Twenty six though, and going to Miszoo a big game.
- 2:03:15Speaker 2: That's a big game. Uh, Georgia Tech loss?
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, what is going on?
- 2:03:23Speaker 6: The ACC just they're just trying to ruin the College
- 2:03:26Speaker 6: Football playoff.
- 2:03:28Speaker 2: That I feel like that's a positive.
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: That's a that's a that's a win for the playoff.
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: I think that's a win for the We need a
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: CC team to start losing.
- 2:03:37Speaker 5: And Tech lost Louisville and Virginia.
- 2:03:41Speaker 3: One, so Virginia is like top fifteen right now.
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Bro, you know what, dude, if the ACC kind
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: of messes around and everyone's kind of got like two
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: three losses everywhere, could we be looking at a nine
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: to three Nebraska Cornhusker team in the playoffs.
- 2:03:57Speaker 2: No, listen, I ain't gonna talk to that type of
- 2:04:00Speaker 2: right now.
- 2:04:01Speaker 1: Hey, the CEEC fucks around that much. SEC's kind of
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: beating each other up every single in every place, like
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: a m is probably gonna make it, Alabama's gonna make it,
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: Georgia is gonna make it? Who else?
- 2:04:15Speaker 5: Texas?
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: Texas? Just Big twelve gets the all the best teams
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: play each other at the end of the year.
- 2:04:25Speaker 4: Goswell playoff rankings. The first ones come out tomorrow.
- 2:04:31Speaker 10: And Green.
- 2:04:33Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting. Boys. This next couple of weeks
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: are gonna be awesome.
- 2:04:38Speaker 3: It's gonna be awesome. But how depressing is it that
- 2:04:40Speaker 3: we only have three weeks left?
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: Pretty depressing? It is pretty sid.
- 2:04:49Speaker 2: Dude.
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: But you know the thing is is like, right after
- 2:04:51Speaker 1: the season is over, we're all it's transfer portal, It's
- 2:04:54Speaker 1: we're getting this guy. What's happening? Like that's equally as
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: fun of a game getting everybody. I'm not thinking, I'm hoping.
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: I'm not thinking, bro. I truly am just like sitting
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: there and being like, man, if we just had every day,
- 2:05:08Speaker 1: I have a court like the yarn and the pictures
- 2:05:11Speaker 1: everything in my room.
- 2:05:12Speaker 5: Right now, you're asking for players that if you're talking
- 2:05:16Speaker 5: about Bryce can't throw the football, buddy, what's gonna do?
- 2:05:18Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no. He can throw the football.
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: We just need like you need the trial and air
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: to get out there and develop a guy like he
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: got in and it was like he's gonna be He's
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: not gonna be the start at the beginning of the year.
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: Then this keen kid gets hurt. I don't know exactly
- 2:05:30Speaker 1: what his injury was. He's thrust into a starting role.
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: We play very conservative early in the year when I'm thinking, hey,
- 2:05:35Speaker 1: maybe let this kid rip a little bit, make the mistakes.
- 2:05:38Speaker 1: He's done a good job of taking care of the
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: football up until this game. But it's like he needs reps. Dude,
- 2:05:43Speaker 1: He's got the talent, like he's shown it the Washington game.
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: It was a very good football team by the way
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: they are ranked. Now, Like, he can throw the football,
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: but you just need the in game experience. That's like
- 2:05:54Speaker 1: you got to take advantage of that in the Northwestern game,
- 2:05:56Speaker 1: in the Maryland game. But those those two teams aren't
- 2:05:58Speaker 1: teams you can sleep on anyway. Good thing is we
- 2:06:01Speaker 1: can all we have a run game that seems like
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: no matter what is going to be successful, which is
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: a great feeling. But we this guy's got to get
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: reps under his belt. We have a bye week this week.
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: I feel good about it. I feel because the receiver
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: stepped up this past game. They were getting open, to
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: say the least.
- 2:06:15Speaker 2: He didn't have any tuddies.
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: No, no, Marshall had three of them.
- 2:06:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I see all three of them average seven point
- 2:06:22Speaker 2: four yards on the ground, twenty five carries, one hundred
- 2:06:24Speaker 2: and eighty five yards. Yeah.
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but Bryce, I know it is bad. It was
- 2:06:29Speaker 1: you know line, it's bad.
- 2:06:31Speaker 2: Do you know it?
- 2:06:32Speaker 1: It's like under fifty percent one two weeks in a
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: row of a bad passing stat line. But I'm dude,
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: I'm telling you there's things he did in that game.
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: We were like, he's a learning getting out of the pocket.
- 2:06:46Speaker 1: There's a little bit of pressure on him, looking down
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: the field, gaining yards with his legs a couple of times.
- 2:06:51Speaker 1: There's I'm telling there's four or five throws in that game.
- 2:06:54Speaker 1: If we could just have those back, We're talking about
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: a completely different Brice Underwood right now. And we have
- 2:06:59Speaker 1: a bye week, which I'm fires me up. A lot
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: of injuries, a lot of job openings too. Yeah, but
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: we're talking about Michigan.
- 2:07:09Speaker 2: A lot of job opening What are you doing right now?
- 2:07:11Speaker 2: I'm just saying a comment.
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: Okay, what's your comment mean?
- 2:07:15Speaker 2: Just a lot of job openings.
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: It'll be it'll be all of a sudden he wants
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: to start throwing throwing mud at me.
- 2:07:21Speaker 2: What mud am I throwing?
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: I'm talking about Michigan football. And you're going a lot
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: of job openings out here, like there's like fourteen.
- 2:07:28Speaker 2: It'll be interesting. It'd be interesting to see what else
- 2:07:30Speaker 2: comes open.
- 2:07:32Speaker 6: Lane Kiffin is gonna be cause.
