This week I return to The Woolgatherer, an illustrated story I wrote about ten years ago.

In Chapters 4–6, Laurie and Jazz keep caring for the mysterious toad they’ve named Prince—who, as it turns out, isn't quite what he seems.

After the story, I introduce you to another Prince: a wooden toad my dad carved in 1999, years before I wrote The Woolgatherer. I had already given him that name, and he spent years keeping me company in my classrooms.
