- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what up, boxing fans. This is the Rope of
- 0:05Speaker 1: Dobe Radio podcast. I'm your host, Chris Carlson. We are
- 0:09Speaker 1: live on a Wednesday night. I hope everybody's doing okay.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Of course, we do have a lot to talk about
- 0:18Speaker 1: from last weekend in the upcoming weekend carts Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
- 0:26Speaker 1: lots of stuff to talk about. We will go over
- 0:29Speaker 1: a little bit of fight Newsvendora dropping the WBO belt,
- 0:35Speaker 1: en root of a Tim Zu rematch. I guess there
- 0:40Speaker 1: is rematched clause in there someplace that still was available.
- 0:45Speaker 1: We'll talk a little bit about that kind of sets up.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I would say two equally matched fights, because now Ziaz
- 0:55Speaker 1: has a fight that might be a pretty good fight. Anyway,
- 1:00Speaker 1: we will talk. Of course, like I said, this week,
- 1:04Speaker 1: we got a variety of fights coming up. But you
- 1:10Speaker 1: Bank and Ben put on a hell of a fight.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Man put on a hell of a fight. It was
- 1:16Speaker 1: a good scrap. It was more action packed than I
- 1:21Speaker 1: thought it would be, especially in the beginning of it.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I was one of those that thought, and I've had,
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know, multiple conversations with people that thought the same way,
- 1:31Speaker 1: that it would take a little while to heat up
- 1:33Speaker 1: and uh Ben, whether it hurt him or help him.
- 1:38Speaker 1: He came out firing it. Now. He missed a lot
- 1:41Speaker 1: of shots early, but he came out more aggressive than
- 1:44Speaker 1: I thought. The jab, I guess you could say ultimately
- 1:49Speaker 1: was the key for Christy you Bank Junior. But it
- 1:52Speaker 1: was competitive. It was very competitive. We'll talk about that fight.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Sounds like there's going to be a rematch. They already
- 1:58Speaker 1: had it in the contract, so it sounds like it
- 2:01Speaker 1: was a two fight deal, which kind of makes sense
- 2:04Speaker 1: when you're dealing with Turkey, whether it's Sadi in Turkey
- 2:08Speaker 1: or just Turkey in the ring magazine, or maybe that's both.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I don't know. So yeah, we'll talk about the undercard.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Some of it was good. The opener was good. There
- 2:24Speaker 1: was some good moments, but you know, to be fair,
- 2:29Speaker 1: there was some there was some lackluster. I guess you
- 2:33Speaker 1: could say to it, Anthony Yard won the fight, but
- 2:40Speaker 1: didn't look all that good doing it. If I'm honest,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I'm fighting back the hiccups here, So sorry if I
- 2:47Speaker 1: keep pausing. So yeah, well we'll talk about that. Like
- 2:54Speaker 1: I said, it does appear that there's a rematch. Something
- 2:59Speaker 1: kind of strange. I just went to the zone before
- 3:01Speaker 1: I started the podcast, and I wanted to get the
- 3:05Speaker 1: actual official price or whatever, you know, ninety dollars for two,
- 3:10Speaker 1: So it's like a really spendy pay per view for
- 3:14Speaker 1: two pay per views basically. So from a hardcore perspective,
- 3:19Speaker 1: of course, that's a that's a that's a better you know,
- 3:23Speaker 1: it's a good deal. It's better than just one pay
- 3:25Speaker 1: per view. But the whole point is whether it's you know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: someone's gonna buy just one of them or both of
- 3:31Speaker 1: them or whatever, you can't buy them right now on
- 3:34Speaker 1: my app. I don't know if I have to go
- 3:38Speaker 1: on my phone and go sign in through that, but
- 3:44Speaker 1: I just went there. I searched. You know, I didn't
- 3:49Speaker 1: spend twenty minutes in there. I didn't spend even ten minutes.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I suppose. I guess maybe it's somewhere in there, but
- 3:56Speaker 1: as of right now, I can't buy. It's Wednesday, two
- 3:59Speaker 1: days before the Friday fight, and it's on an app exclusively,
- 4:06Speaker 1: so I can't. I can't, I can't buy it. I
- 4:11Speaker 1: just thought it was a little strange. I thought it
- 4:13Speaker 1: was a little strange. I did here, and I I
- 4:16Speaker 1: was kind of going through a couple of messages and
- 4:20Speaker 1: that folks sent to me since the last show. And
- 4:23Speaker 1: I did see, you know, some people having problems buying
- 4:29Speaker 1: this last pay per view. Now I didn't have a
- 4:31Speaker 1: problem with that. It was twenty five dollars went in there,
- 4:36Speaker 1: didn't have a problem. Now, I did buy it the
- 4:42Speaker 1: night before. But you know, I generally remember being able
- 4:48Speaker 1: to buy it earlier, and I've seen like little there's
- 4:53Speaker 1: like there's fight breakdowns and you know, the grand arrivals
- 4:58Speaker 1: and the press stuff and interviews and all that, and
- 5:02Speaker 1: when you watch that, it literally says buy it now,
- 5:05Speaker 1: go to the site. Well I'm at the app and
- 5:08Speaker 1: I couldn't buy it. So hopefully it's available by tomorrow.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Otherwise it's just kind of strange to make it available
- 5:18Speaker 1: the night the day of. But anyway, just something that
- 5:23Speaker 1: I noticed. But I did see that people are having
- 5:25Speaker 1: a little problems buying the U Bank one. And I
- 5:28Speaker 1: don't know if they bought it right as it was
- 5:30Speaker 1: starting and that was the issue or what. I have
- 5:33Speaker 1: no clue, But like I said, it was a really
- 5:36Speaker 1: good fight, very competitive. I thought it was a clear winner,
- 5:40Speaker 1: but a competitive fight. You can have eight to four,
- 5:44Speaker 1: seven to five, whatever it is. And it can. It
- 5:47Speaker 1: can be a clean win, but a competitive fight, and
- 5:49Speaker 1: that's what we got. So we'll definitely start with round
- 5:54Speaker 1: by round, breaking that down along, you know, with the
- 5:58Speaker 1: undercard stuff, and then preview the weekend. My favorite fight
- 6:03Speaker 1: by a long shot is the Tao Femo Lopez Arnold Barbosa.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I think stylistically it could be tricky for Tao Fema. Well,
- 6:20Speaker 1: we'll see, we'll see exactly how it goes. And obviously
- 6:24Speaker 1: you know the Friday show being in New York City.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I like the idea of it. I'm not crazy about
- 6:34Speaker 1: the back to back nights with pay per view, to
- 6:37Speaker 1: be honest with you, I think it's a little funky,
- 6:40Speaker 1: but at least you have more recognizable names. Obviously Canela,
- 6:46Speaker 1: but Ryan Garcy as well. Ryan Garci and Haini did
- 6:49Speaker 1: a pretty solid pay per view number, i'd say so,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and Tao Femo in the card as well. So we're
- 6:55Speaker 1: gonna talk about the under card. I mean, when it
- 6:57Speaker 1: comes to like breaking down the fights, it'll be more
- 7:00Speaker 1: undercard because, like I said, the three main events and
- 7:05Speaker 1: really the I guess it's kind of like co feature
- 7:09Speaker 1: main events with Haney end Garcia, those four fights Ramirez
- 7:15Speaker 1: is probably the most solid competition there, but we know
- 7:19Speaker 1: he's pretty much passed it too. So we'll see the
- 7:25Speaker 1: ad that they had for the fight. I liked it
- 7:29Speaker 1: for Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, but it made it
- 7:33Speaker 1: look like they're fighting each other, like, so it's very misleading,
- 7:41Speaker 1: uh that way, But I like the ad. I definitely
- 7:44Speaker 1: like the ad. So so yeah, we're gonna get into it.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And just the second John might be joining us. He's
- 7:54Speaker 1: having a little power outage in his neck of the woods,
- 7:58Speaker 1: so you know how that as your internet, your electricity.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Well we'll see how that if it can pop on here,
- 8:06Speaker 1: so hopefully we can. If not, you know, it is
- 8:08Speaker 1: what it is, hopefully we'll get him, you know, back
- 8:12Speaker 1: next week. So yeah, if this is your first time
- 8:16Speaker 1: listening to the Ropeodope Radio podcast, welcome. It is available

- 8:39Speaker 1: spricker for those who care about that. While you're at it,
- 8:43Speaker 1: heading over to the Grillingtruth dot Com East side boxing

- 9:21Speaker 1: that locks you in for twenty four months. The Choice Package,
- 9:24Speaker 1: which includes Fan Duel and SEC Network is seventy nine
- 9:28Speaker 1: ninety nine for the first three months. The Ultimate Package
- 9:31Speaker 1: that includes over one hundred and sixty channels one oh
- 9:35Speaker 1: nine ninety nine for the first three months. Okay, So,
- 9:45Speaker 1: like I said, going into this fight, I knew, you know,
- 9:51Speaker 1: a lot of people complained about this fight. It's not
- 9:56Speaker 1: as big a deal over here, but I already knew that.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I knew it was going to be a big fight.
- 10:02Speaker 1: They had it in the stadium, the crowds came out.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'm very happy that the UK are you know, is
- 10:08Speaker 1: getting these type of fights. They got another big one
- 10:11Speaker 1: coming up in the summer with du Bois in USK
- 10:17Speaker 1: in Wembley because they're a while. There was a while there,
- 10:20Speaker 1: even before Saudi Rabi came in some of their fights
- 10:23Speaker 1: going to Monaco and and you know the Middle East
- 10:26Speaker 1: in general, there was a time there where it wasn't
- 10:32Speaker 1: doing as well. And you know, if you you know,
- 10:35Speaker 1: make fights that the UK fight fans want to see,
- 10:38Speaker 1: guess what they're gonna show up. So we already know that,
- 10:41Speaker 1: you know. So I'm really happy to see the UK
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know, back in effect that way with the stadium stuff,
- 10:52Speaker 1: and it's great. It's great to see. I love it.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Right now, we're kind of going through it over here
- 10:57Speaker 1: to an extent when it comes to fights with US,
- 11:04Speaker 1: appeal not happening in the US, so you know, we'll
- 11:10Speaker 1: see how that goes from here. It is nice though,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Like I mentioned that they're doing something kind of you know,
- 11:21Speaker 1: outside the box on Friday, so I think that is
- 11:25Speaker 1: pretty cool in New York City. And then as long
- 11:28Speaker 1: as it remains the plan having Crawford, as long as
- 11:32Speaker 1: he gets no disrespect to Skull, but as long as
- 11:35Speaker 1: he gets through him and you know, Crawford, they say
- 11:38Speaker 1: that's going to be in Vegas here, so that would
- 11:42Speaker 1: be nice. But yeah, so I didn't really have a
- 11:48Speaker 1: major issue with this fight happening. A lot of people
- 11:51Speaker 1: did when it first got announced, like you know, a
- 11:56Speaker 1: few years back. In a sense, it was kind of like,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I don't know, I just knew as a money grab.
- 12:03Speaker 1: But the cool thing is it turned out to be
- 12:07Speaker 1: a good fight, and now there's a rematch, and it
- 12:11Speaker 1: could have been a slug It could have been not
- 12:14Speaker 1: a slug fest but just a just a just a
- 12:18Speaker 1: dragging on fight. You know, there could have been it
- 12:21Speaker 1: could have been a different fight. And I even admit,
- 12:25Speaker 1: like I just said not long ago, that I did
- 12:27Speaker 1: think it would take some rounds to get going. I
- 12:30Speaker 1: really did, and that wasn't the case. So overall, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: the crowd came out, you had a ready or not
- 12:43Speaker 1: here Ben comes right when he came out, and they
- 12:47Speaker 1: had like the orchestra thing, and you know, for some reason,
- 12:52Speaker 1: Rick Rino is holding the ring belt just kind of
- 12:58Speaker 1: weird in my opinion. Then you had Yu Mang Junior
- 13:02Speaker 1: coming out. I liked the little orchestra hit that they
- 13:04Speaker 1: had there. It wasn't in the pit, but you know
- 13:07Speaker 1: what I mean, little Tina Turner vibe with the simply
- 13:11Speaker 1: the best and then Orchestra vibe with the still dre
- 13:14Speaker 1: That was cool. So the walkouts were good. And I
- 13:21Speaker 1: do find it funny, how see, I love me a
- 13:25Speaker 1: good rivalry when it comes to the UK in the US,
- 13:29Speaker 1: like in the ring, like I love those matchups. It's fun.
- 13:34Speaker 1: But as far as like making it a rivalry just
- 13:43Speaker 1: about boxing, because we know boxing, on average the last
- 13:48Speaker 1: decade plus has been more popular over there. Eddie Hearn
- 13:53Speaker 1: has said it took him a while to figure that out,
- 13:56Speaker 1: but once he got here he realized why boxing wasn't
- 14:00Speaker 1: as popular. And sure the sport itself has damaged itself
- 14:06Speaker 1: right in many ways. But the competition here, with the
- 14:10Speaker 1: amount of sports and the amount of entertainment we have,
- 14:13Speaker 1: we know it's it's not as popular. There are some
- 14:16Speaker 1: fighters that are very popular. There are some fights that
- 14:19Speaker 1: drop big crowds, and we do live gates and all that,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and you know, you will see a fight if it's
- 14:29Speaker 1: gonna make more money at the MGM or you know
- 14:32Speaker 1: in Vegas and an arena. Basically they're probably gonna put
- 14:36Speaker 1: it in an arena. They're not gonna make less money,
- 14:40Speaker 1: putting it in a stadium and for the fight fans
- 14:45Speaker 1: to be able to go, even if you're just looking
- 14:47Speaker 1: at a big screen or you have binoculars. It's just
- 14:52Speaker 1: the vibe being at a stadium with the fight, just
- 14:56Speaker 1: the vibe of it is awesome. And then you get
- 14:58Speaker 1: the tickets are especially not the ones up close on
- 15:02Speaker 1: the floor, but yeah, the tickets will be you know,
- 15:05Speaker 1: less expensive, so that's cool too. So it just taken
- 15:08Speaker 1: in the vibe. But to make it a rivalry like oh,
- 15:14Speaker 1: because you hear I did see a bunch of people
- 15:19Speaker 1: on Twitter saying, you know, the US can't match this
- 15:23Speaker 1: environment and they have more stadium fights than US. That's true.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I also but you know when we talk about environment,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I mean Aero Spence has more than one walkout in
- 15:37Speaker 1: a stadium fight that is just as good a vibe
- 15:40Speaker 1: as anything I've seen last night. And by the way,
- 15:44Speaker 1: like there's been better walkouts since stadium fights vibe wise
- 15:49Speaker 1: than this one. So I think that's a little silly.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I can see like an American being a little jealous
- 15:59Speaker 1: because of that, and that's fair, But to sit there
- 16:04Speaker 1: and make it about the US UK when it comes
- 16:06Speaker 1: down to that, I think it's kind of silly, just
- 16:08Speaker 1: like I think when US fans call good fighters UK bombs,
- 16:12Speaker 1: that's eurobums. I think that's stupid. I think it's I
- 16:16Speaker 1: think it's silly. So I'd rather it be not it
- 16:22Speaker 1: because it just kind of it lends itself to that
- 16:25Speaker 1: promotional beef stuff, you know, and that's that's stupid, you know.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Let let's let's enjoy it. And so, like I said,
- 16:33Speaker 1: I I'm not sick of the song Sweet Caroline, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 1: nor will I ever get sick of it, you know.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I love I love the vibe that was going on.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So let's get into the fight. I just had to
- 16:46Speaker 1: kind of talk about that because it's like I guess,
- 16:49Speaker 1: you know, I don't know where when we turned on Twitter.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I can't really capture the exact year. But it's just
- 16:57Speaker 1: so funny how it's it's more about that you just
- 16:59Speaker 1: saw a good fight that's gonna have a rematch, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: the build up's gonna be great again and all that shit,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and the first thing you got to say is, oh,
- 17:08Speaker 1: they couldn't do that, you know, or the first time
- 17:12Speaker 1: the first thing an American is gonna say when a
- 17:15Speaker 1: UK fighter loses or a European fire lose to American
- 17:18Speaker 1: all that they're not on our level. Just just just
- 17:21Speaker 1: enjoy the fucking fight sometimes, man, it's just silly anyway.
- 17:25Speaker 1: You can tell it's bugging me because I'm trying to
- 17:27Speaker 1: get to this round by round and it just kind
- 17:29Speaker 1: of sticking with me. Like I mentioned before, you Bank
- 17:33Speaker 1: Junior and his jab. That was the key ultimately to
- 17:38Speaker 1: the fight. I mean, I think that's plain his day.
- 17:43Speaker 1: He came out with the jab, adding a few right hands,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and Ben landed a nice right hand, but he was
- 17:53Speaker 1: early on falling in in missing wide shots far too much.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I thought he was way too aggressive. And if you're
- 18:01Speaker 1: gonna be aggressive, set it up, you know what I mean,
- 18:05Speaker 1: set the thing up, don't just go bombs away. Now.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Something that helped him not get hit as much was
- 18:14Speaker 1: his Ben talking about his upper body and head movement.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Both of them flashed that at times, and they did
- 18:21Speaker 1: a pretty good job. I so I gave you Bank
- 18:25Speaker 1: the first run, I gave Ben the second roun. You know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: Ben or you you Bank still had his jab and
- 18:33Speaker 1: all that, but I thought the jab in the left hook,
- 18:36Speaker 1: now you know, Ben eventually was able to land good
- 18:41Speaker 1: right hands, but his left hook for me was the
- 18:44Speaker 1: key for a while, and so you know, the short, accurate,
- 18:51Speaker 1: you know, left hook. I thought that was I thought
- 18:56Speaker 1: that was that was nice, and I thought that did enough,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you know, like I said, the right hand still not
- 19:04Speaker 1: landing all that much. Like I said, he's a little
- 19:07Speaker 1: too wild with it. I did give Ben the third round,
- 19:13Speaker 1: you know, and this is the round I thought he
- 19:15Speaker 1: was finally laying his right hand a lot more cleaner,
- 19:20Speaker 1: and he definitely showing the good head movement, upper body movement.
- 19:24Speaker 1: The left hooks, of course were there, and he had
- 19:27Speaker 1: like a late, little early and late in that round,
- 19:30Speaker 1: whereas you know, some good work. So I gave him
- 19:34Speaker 1: the round. I thought, once again, it was mostly just
- 19:36Speaker 1: you bank, mostly jabbing right, not all that effective, but
- 19:45Speaker 1: I thought you banking the fourth along with this jab
- 19:49Speaker 1: the sharp right hand started coming out, whether it's straight
- 19:52Speaker 1: or he even landed like two maybe three uppercuts right
- 19:56Speaker 1: uppercuts and a nice and some I think think at
- 20:00Speaker 1: least one or two, well for sure one but I
- 20:03Speaker 1: don't know if it was more than one. But a
- 20:05Speaker 1: good right hand to the body too that he was landing.
- 20:09Speaker 1: So I gave him the fourth. I gave him the
- 20:11Speaker 1: fifth as well, you Bank. There was some back and forth,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but I thought the one twos the jab was basically
- 20:19Speaker 1: just controlling the round and then he'd throw in some
- 20:22Speaker 1: one twos. Ben did land a nice right hand in
- 20:29Speaker 1: the sixth round, but the harder lands the left hook
- 20:32Speaker 1: the jab. I also thought that was enough for the
- 20:36Speaker 1: sixth round for me. But I liked what you Bank
- 20:40Speaker 1: was doing with his with his free hand. I really
- 20:46Speaker 1: liked what he was doing with his free hand. Now,
- 20:48Speaker 1: this wraf was way too involved, and you know what
- 20:52Speaker 1: I could tell he was gonna be. I've seen him
- 20:54Speaker 1: ref a bunch, so I know he's involved. But when
- 20:57Speaker 1: I knew he was gonna try to be too involved
- 21:00Speaker 1: is when when they didn't touch gloves and he made
- 21:02Speaker 1: him touch gloves. It's like, all right, dude, you know
- 21:09Speaker 1: they're about to punch each other in the face. Sportsmanship,
- 21:13Speaker 1: nothing wrong with it, right, it's good. But if that'll
- 21:16Speaker 1: touch gloves, who gives a shit? I mean, really, who
- 21:20Speaker 1: really cares? So it's like, and maybe that is more
- 21:28Speaker 1: of a you know, Mexico American type way to fight
- 21:35Speaker 1: with the free hand. I'll give you that, but you
- 21:40Speaker 1: know if you got a free hand, and especially if
- 21:43Speaker 1: you're not the one holding, you got to use that thing.
- 21:46Speaker 1: And I thought you Bank did that throughout the fight.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So I had him up for two after six. I
- 21:54Speaker 1: think someone on the broadcast had him up for to
- 21:57Speaker 1: bed I should say, not just him. I thought that
- 21:59Speaker 1: was Laura. I would have been fine with three three,
- 22:01Speaker 1: it's no big deal, but I didn't think it was
- 22:03Speaker 1: four two the other way personally. Now, the seventh round
- 22:08Speaker 1: for me, the seventh and eighth were close, and there
- 22:10Speaker 1: was probably, give or take three close rounds past the
- 22:15Speaker 1: seventh round, I gave the right upper cuts in an
- 22:21Speaker 1: exchange a Chris jab Throughout Ben had his moments. He
- 22:28Speaker 1: definitely did good in the in the seventh, but I
- 22:31Speaker 1: gave it to you Bank. Same with the eighth really
- 22:36Speaker 1: and late, you know, you did see some hooks land
- 22:43Speaker 1: in in exchange for Ben, but once again, very close
- 22:47Speaker 1: round could have went either way. I did think that
- 22:51Speaker 1: U Bank though landed the better shot, but it was close,
- 22:57Speaker 1: you know, so that that could have went either way.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I will sing oops. I gave Ben the ninth round.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I thought that was the best round of him of
- 23:08Speaker 1: the fight for him, as far as right hands go.
- 23:13Speaker 1: He was landing that thing really really well. And the
- 23:16Speaker 1: last part U Bank did have some success the last
- 23:20Speaker 1: part of the ninth round, but I don't think it
- 23:21Speaker 1: was enough. The tenth round here's another close round. So
- 23:26Speaker 1: there was three really close rounds for me. I gave
- 23:30Speaker 1: it to Ben, but man, he he was starting to
- 23:35Speaker 1: look really tired and he was holding more and more,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but to his credit, he was still landing well. It
- 23:40Speaker 1: did look like he shook up U Bank enough, but
- 23:46Speaker 1: the thing is U Bank close stronger in the round.
- 23:50Speaker 1: So how shook up really was he? It's you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: it's up for debate the eleventh round. In the twelfth run,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I gave the U Bank. You know, obviously the jab,
- 24:03Speaker 1: multiple flurries, you know, both of them are throwing late,
- 24:10Speaker 1: you know, landing clean, some really fun stuff. Don't get
- 24:16Speaker 1: me wrong, but I just thought that, you know, he
- 24:19Speaker 1: had it in early exchanges in the twelfth a great round.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I think the left hook was landing better overall, and
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know, down the stretch more hooks, Ben was kind
- 24:36Speaker 1: of on the ropes. He finally had him on the
- 24:38Speaker 1: ropes and that left hook really was the difference. So
- 24:42Speaker 1: I had it like eight to four, seven to five,
- 24:44Speaker 1: maybe seven to four to one max, though I'd say
- 24:48Speaker 1: seven to five. I didn't see necessarily a draw. Now
- 24:52Speaker 1: I had it eight to four. I gave him the
- 24:55Speaker 1: ninth and the tenth, and what was it the third
- 24:58Speaker 1: and the fourth or was it the second and the third?
- 25:05Speaker 1: But you know the seventh and eighth. If I swung that,
- 25:07Speaker 1: then it'd be seven to.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Five, you know.
- 25:09Speaker 1: If I gave one to U Bank, one to Ben.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So the judges had it all one, sixteen, one twelve.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I thought that was a fair card for cards plural,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and so I was happy. I was happy with the fight,
- 25:26Speaker 1: very happy, and I'm actually looking forward to the rematch.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It does seem like they have you know, it kind
- 25:38Speaker 1: of seems like they have it all figured out already
- 25:43Speaker 1: from the sounds of it, even down to the weight rehydration.
- 25:49Speaker 1: This is uncrowned combat. This is the source you Bank
- 25:55Speaker 1: or Eddie. Eddie Hern confirmed the U Bank Connor Ben
- 25:57Speaker 1: rematch is signed to be at one sixty with ten
- 26:00Speaker 1: pound rehydration cloud the same terms as the first fight.
- 26:05Speaker 1: The hope is for it to be at the end
- 26:06Speaker 1: of September at to Totingham Hotspur Stadiums. At the same stadium,
- 26:13Speaker 1: so you know, the weight clearly, you know, wasn't coming
- 26:21Speaker 1: right off of him. Yeah, he did have to. You know,
- 26:25Speaker 1: he didn't look great body wise. I'll say that with
- 26:28Speaker 1: you make and I was fairly confident to the point
- 26:36Speaker 1: I thought maybe Ben would be affected more by the weight,
- 26:40Speaker 1: just off the size and you know, just being at
- 26:43Speaker 1: one sixty. He's talking about he wants to stay at
- 26:46Speaker 1: one sixty now. So but yeah, I mean they did
- 26:51Speaker 1: the rehydration. He looked okay, but on fight night it
- 26:55Speaker 1: didn't he you could say at times he was pacing himself.
- 27:00Speaker 1: But then Ben was the one gas and now you know,
- 27:02Speaker 1: when they were both throwing a bunch of punches later
- 27:05Speaker 1: later in the fight, then they both had little moments
- 27:08Speaker 1: of being tired and gassed. And you could see in
- 27:11Speaker 1: that one round was it the tenth or eleventh where
- 27:13Speaker 1: you Bank was looking up the clock because that was
- 27:17Speaker 1: after like one of his best flurries, I believe. So,
- 27:22Speaker 1: so you know, if it was another year off or something,
- 27:26Speaker 1: then I may maybe start to think, oh, this might
- 27:29Speaker 1: not be good for you, Bank. But I think both
- 27:33Speaker 1: of them can improve on their performance. I will say that.
- 27:39Speaker 1: But you know, we'll see ultimately what happens. But I
- 27:46Speaker 1: think that I think the jab and just setting up
- 27:51Speaker 1: setting up more shots, being aggressive but not being so
- 27:55Speaker 1: loose with the right hand from Ben, I thought he
- 27:58Speaker 1: was just I don't think he has the power to hurt, hurt,
- 28:03Speaker 1: and well not to hurt, but to knock out you Bank,
- 28:08Speaker 1: So why waste a bunch of energy missing these home
- 28:12Speaker 1: run hitters with the right hand. I thought that was
- 28:15Speaker 1: a mistake. And uh. And also like targeting the body,
- 28:24Speaker 1: I did hear a lot of people say you Bank
- 28:26Speaker 1: should have targeted the body. They they every time he
- 28:28Speaker 1: went there, they said, oh, he's targeting the body. He
- 28:31Speaker 1: didn't really target it a whole much of a whole
- 28:33Speaker 1: bunch though, And obviously the bigger man that may have
- 28:37Speaker 1: issues making the weight and all that may be drained
- 28:40Speaker 1: at that time. That's what you're thinking now, I guess obviously,
- 28:45Speaker 1: if you go too much to the body, if you're
- 28:47Speaker 1: not in the right position, if you're not close enough,
- 28:51Speaker 1: or if you're too close, you end up more shoeshine, smothering.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But you can't get countered that way obviously, So sometimes
- 29:00Speaker 1: body punch it isn't as easy to you know accomplish basically,
- 29:08Speaker 1: but overall, you know, I did I I thought it
- 29:13Speaker 1: was a good fight. I did think it was a
- 29:15Speaker 1: good fight, and it'll be interesting to see on the rematch.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So overall late September, if everybody's okay, I know there
- 29:24Speaker 1: was a cut that should have plenty of time to heal.
- 29:32Speaker 1: We're going to talk about some of the other fights
- 29:34Speaker 1: here in a short little bit. I thought the other
- 29:39Speaker 1: fight I was really anticipating as far as action though,
- 29:43Speaker 1: was William Smith and Glatton. And I thought Smith won
- 29:48Speaker 1: pretty cleanly eight to four. I think you know, two
- 29:51Speaker 1: of them had it that eight to four one sixteen
- 29:53Speaker 1: one twelve one had at one sixteen one thirteen Smith.
- 29:58Speaker 1: The first two rounds there was two way moments right,
- 30:02Speaker 1: but I thought Billiam Smith was big right hands, you know,
- 30:06Speaker 1: targeting the body as well, and just you know, better
- 30:11Speaker 1: lands overall, the right, right to the head, right to
- 30:13Speaker 1: the body. I did give another right round. The third
- 30:18Speaker 1: round was a fun round. I did give Glenn Glatten
- 30:21Speaker 1: that one. I thought he closed stronger. The fourth round
- 30:26Speaker 1: was pretty close, the fifth round. In the sixth round
- 30:29Speaker 1: I gave to Clatten the short left hooks and the
- 30:32Speaker 1: overhand rights early in kind of mid through the sixth
- 30:37Speaker 1: those big right hands. I thought that was enough to do.
- 30:40Speaker 1: With the seventh, I gave the Billiam Smith right hands
- 30:43Speaker 1: to the body and uppercuts as well with the right hand.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I thought the eighth round was pretty close. The ninth round,
- 30:51Speaker 1: let's see, I'm looking at it. I think I gave
- 30:53Speaker 1: the rest to Billiam Smith. He was jabbing more and more.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Another thing he was busier, of course he was. He was.
- 31:01Speaker 1: By like the eighth and ninth round, he was starting
- 31:03Speaker 1: to stay off the ropes more. And you could also
- 31:08Speaker 1: see while he was doing that, Glatton was starting to
- 31:13Speaker 1: slow down. The tenth round nothing too effective, jabs, right
- 31:20Speaker 1: hands to the body, more upper cuts, but Gladden just
- 31:23Speaker 1: not being effective at that point. And the last few
- 31:27Speaker 1: rounds Billion Smith was just beating him to the punch.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Good fight though, especially through for like maybe six seven
- 31:34Speaker 1: rounds it was it was really competitive. Oh, I see
- 31:37Speaker 1: John's on here, so I'll let him. I'll get him
- 31:40Speaker 1: in here, alright, he should be popping in here any second. Alrighty,
- 31:54Speaker 1: let's see if I can get maybe I oh, here
- 31:59Speaker 1: we go maybe possibly.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I'm here in New Jersey in the midst of a
- 32:04Speaker 2: power failure, so you may just be seeing darkness.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I do only see darkness, but that's okay.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I thought maybe I could get a little bit of
- 32:13Speaker 2: visibility at least give you a horror movie kind of
- 32:16Speaker 2: vibe or something like that. But I'm just in darkness.
- 32:19Speaker 2: So we're supposed to be out of power for another
- 32:22Speaker 2: couple hours here, but I'm only sitting, you know, I'm
- 32:27Speaker 2: about thirty five miles from where the fights will be
- 32:30Speaker 2: taking place in Times Square on Saturday night, So I'll
- 32:34Speaker 2: just do that for a little location perspective.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Nice. Nice, And isn't it like a thunderstorm or something.
- 32:42Speaker 2: No, it was strange. I was out on the deck
- 32:45Speaker 2: grilling about six o'clock when you and I were texting
- 32:49Speaker 2: and everything was good to go for now, and then
- 32:53Speaker 2: about five minutes after that, all of a sudden, everybody's
- 32:57Speaker 2: power went out and started getting messages from the power
- 33:00Speaker 2: our company and the internet provider that they were investigating.
- 33:04Speaker 2: We're gonna be out for a few hours.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's strange. I just assume, like, you know, some
- 33:11Speaker 1: sort of big ass branch from a tree fell on
- 33:14Speaker 1: an electric you know.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Something, That's what it could be. There were doing some
- 33:18Speaker 2: tree cutting in the area today. That's what one of
- 33:22Speaker 2: the one of the neighbors was saying, but that hasn't
- 33:25Speaker 2: been confirmed for sure. But I'm I don't have a
- 33:30Speaker 2: I don't have a generator here, so this is where
- 33:34Speaker 2: I'm at right now.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Well that's okay, that's all right. We hear you loud
- 33:38Speaker 1: and clear, and that's all that counts. I was wondering
- 33:41Speaker 1: if you're gonna make it. I tried to delay it
- 33:43Speaker 1: a little bit just to see if we can have
- 33:45Speaker 1: you on. So that's awesome that you made it. Life
- 33:48Speaker 1: gets in the way, especially you know, with our schedules,
- 33:51Speaker 1: but then all of a sudden, this this hits.
- 33:53Speaker 2: So yes, weird. No, I was, you know, I still
- 33:57Speaker 2: wanted to be on so I could see we're in
- 34:00Speaker 2: the power and time. But I thought, well, at least
- 34:03Speaker 2: at least I can get on and we we can
- 34:05Speaker 2: talk at at the least.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, we had a tornado warning in the cities,
- 34:11Speaker 1: which is very rare in the actual city, but it
- 34:15Speaker 1: actually at the very last second, it swooped in around
- 34:19Speaker 1: the metro just randomly, but the clouds were crazy. I
- 34:22Speaker 1: got some really good shots on top of like an
- 34:25Speaker 1: eight story building. It was. It was awesome. But they
- 34:29Speaker 1: kept talking about hail too, which it did come down
- 34:32Speaker 1: in like you know, over golf ball sizes, but it
- 34:35Speaker 1: just it just didn't hit us. But so we had
- 34:38Speaker 1: a little funky humidity pop up out of nowhere and
- 34:42Speaker 1: it was like it was getting close to eighty degrees
- 34:45Speaker 1: out of nowhere, but it all kind of went went
- 34:49Speaker 1: away and never actually hit. Just a lot of wins.
- 34:52Speaker 1: So it's you know, obviously as we get into these
- 34:56Speaker 1: type of seasons that you know that is the one
- 34:58Speaker 1: thing that the warm weather's awesome, you do get the
- 35:00Speaker 1: thunderstorms and tornadoes and all that stuff. Let's you know,
- 35:07Speaker 1: at the end of our conversation, maybe you can kind
- 35:10Speaker 1: of catch up as far as what you've missed recently. Yeah,
- 35:16Speaker 1: but let's start kind of focused in on what happened
- 35:21Speaker 1: this last weekend in a stadium fight that I gotta admit, John,
- 35:26Speaker 1: I was saying it last week. I was saying it
- 35:29Speaker 1: just a second ago that I thought it was going
- 35:31Speaker 1: to take a little while for it to get entertaining
- 35:34Speaker 1: because I just assumed that you Bank would take his
- 35:38Speaker 1: time with this jab what he did. But I thought
- 35:41Speaker 1: he'd be more hesitating because he didn't want to wear
- 35:43Speaker 1: his body out and get gassed. But I also thought
- 35:46Speaker 1: Ben would be a little wary at the start, just
- 35:49Speaker 1: because of the size and the weight or whatever. But
- 35:52Speaker 1: that wasn't the case. I thought you Bank was loose
- 35:55Speaker 1: with his right hand, way too loose, like throwing bombs
- 35:59Speaker 1: and not really being coordinated with it. But his left
- 36:02Speaker 1: hooks were effective early on. But it turned into kind
- 36:06Speaker 1: of just being a good scrap. You know that there
- 36:09Speaker 1: was technical aspects eventually, but it was mostly just a
- 36:14Speaker 1: good scrap. And if you're gonna have a fight where
- 36:18Speaker 1: you have, you know, the fathers bringing him out, you
- 36:21Speaker 1: have the rivalry built in there. At least we got
- 36:25Speaker 1: a good tussle, is the way I looked at it.
- 36:27Speaker 1: We'll talk about the other card, but what did you
- 36:29Speaker 1: think of the fight itself? Like I said, I wasn't
- 36:33Speaker 1: going in with much anticipation. I was just like, let's
- 36:37Speaker 1: see what happens.
- 36:39Speaker 2: I thought the way you did, Chris, I didn't have
- 36:41Speaker 2: much anticipation going in. I felt like it was just
- 36:44Speaker 2: kind of a nostalgia fight, you know, really marketed obviously
- 36:50Speaker 2: for you know, British sensibilities. Which if you were going
- 36:54Speaker 2: to get a real good fight, which we got a
- 36:56Speaker 2: much better fight than expected. It doesn't mean everyone else can,
- 37:00Speaker 2: but that's not who it was directed towards. And I
- 37:03Speaker 2: wasn't expecting an overly entertaining fight going in uh and
- 37:10Speaker 2: we got to you know there so and really the
- 37:13Speaker 2: way they had it set up, you know, pay pay
- 37:15Speaker 2: per view in the US and a fight where you
- 37:19Speaker 2: know you were going to have trouble getting interstoked in
- 37:23Speaker 2: the US because it wasn't marketed in the US sensibility.
- 37:26Speaker 1: So the NBA playoffs are going on.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so I thought in the US your DA anyway,
- 37:35Speaker 2: and I wasn't expecting to kind of fight we got.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I agree with you, you know, I've seen you Bank
- 37:40Speaker 2: Junior fight like that in the past at times, not
- 37:43Speaker 2: all the time, but I was with you the way
- 37:46Speaker 2: he'd been going in more recent years, and for this fight,
- 37:50Speaker 2: you figured he'd be jabbing some, trying to box some.
- 37:54Speaker 2: He's not really a great boxer, but but we've seen
- 37:58Speaker 2: him do that and and you know, win some fights
- 38:01Speaker 2: that way. And you know he adjusted and handled Liam
- 38:05Speaker 2: Smith easily in the rematch. That was kind of a surprise.
- 38:08Speaker 2: The way he totally flipped it. But seeing him occasionally,
- 38:11Speaker 2: like you know, in a fight where he wasn't effective,
- 38:15Speaker 2: but you saw him fighting that way, was like against Groves,
- 38:18Speaker 2: you know, years ago, and then you'd seen him against
- 38:22Speaker 2: some lesser opponents just do that and maybe get him
- 38:25Speaker 2: out of there. Wasn't expecting that in this one, but
- 38:29Speaker 2: as you described correctly, that's what you got. You know,
- 38:34Speaker 2: it was a positive for boxing in that sense. So
- 38:38Speaker 2: you know, on the British side of things, that worked
- 38:40Speaker 2: out real well because you know, it was a good
- 38:44Speaker 2: entertaining fight, marketed for British sensibilities and just in the
- 38:49Speaker 2: realities of the marketing of the sport. And I thought,
- 38:52Speaker 2: which wasn't discussed enough, is let's face it, neither of
- 38:55Speaker 2: these guys is going anywhere, so you know, if they
- 38:59Speaker 2: want to have a rematch, it was an entertaining fight. Fine,
- 39:02Speaker 2: So you know, I thought on the British end it
- 39:04Speaker 2: worked out great like that, you know, and of course
- 39:06Speaker 2: for anybody seeing it just being a good fight, it
- 39:08Speaker 2: worked out well. And then since it was a good
- 39:11Speaker 2: fight in terms of entertainment, I thought it was a
- 39:14Speaker 2: missed opportunity on the US end because we've talked about
- 39:17Speaker 2: this a lot, and let's let's say it was set
- 39:20Speaker 2: up on the US end. You know, all right, the
- 39:23Speaker 2: zone's got the rights, even if it's on his own
- 39:26Speaker 2: where you don't have to pay. Not that many people
- 39:29Speaker 2: are going to see it in the US, but more
- 39:31Speaker 2: would have. But let's say, in a theoretical sense, if
- 39:35Speaker 2: you cut a deal, because we did, we had seen
- 39:37Speaker 2: a lot of this, like where in the US it
- 39:40Speaker 2: was going to be on like ESPN Plus and they
- 39:44Speaker 2: said exactly what time it was gonna run, And you know,
- 39:47Speaker 2: maybe then even you got a couple of people surfing
- 39:49Speaker 2: around for something to watch and caught it, and boxing
- 39:53Speaker 2: fans that wanted to see it could just see it
- 39:54Speaker 2: on the ESPN Plus. Then you get a fight like
- 39:57Speaker 2: this that turned out good, and you would have gained
- 40:01Speaker 2: something out of the US market in addition to the
- 40:05Speaker 2: British market. That's just where I think the opportunity was missed.
- 40:09Speaker 2: But you know, for boxing as a whole, it's always
- 40:12Speaker 2: good when you get a good fight, and it worked
- 40:15Speaker 2: out spectacularly well for British sensibilities because it was marketed
- 40:20Speaker 2: for that. It's nostalgia for you know, both of their
- 40:24Speaker 2: fathers and you got a good fight so worked out. Well,
- 40:28Speaker 2: I'm not going to blame all involved, including the fighters.
- 40:31Speaker 2: If they just go rematch here. I don't see either
- 40:34Speaker 2: of them going anywhere, and you got a good, entertaining fight.
- 40:37Speaker 2: So maybe the next time around on the US end,
- 40:40Speaker 2: they could take advantage of that, like I said, and
- 40:43Speaker 2: get it set up where it's not pay per view
- 40:46Speaker 2: in the US and at least if the rematch is good,
- 40:49Speaker 2: you get some more viewers in the US next time.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know what was bothering me once I
- 40:55Speaker 1: heard the price. Not the price, it's twenty five bucks whatever,
- 40:59Speaker 1: but the fact that is payball when it would have
- 41:01Speaker 1: already been a payball anyway. I could like, I'm not
- 41:06Speaker 1: talking about the original fight because that was gonna be
- 41:10Speaker 1: just straight up, it wasn't gonna be a pay for here.
- 41:12Speaker 1: But I could have sworn when they announced this go
- 41:16Speaker 1: round that it wasn't going to be pay per view here,
- 41:18Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden leading up to it
- 41:21Speaker 1: is like, oh no, it's pay per view. I just
- 41:24Speaker 1: the zone has this way of like misleading the customers,
- 41:30Speaker 1: and even when they advertise, oh, you know, this fight's
- 41:33Speaker 1: coming up, they don't say it's pay per view. You know,
- 41:37Speaker 1: it's just I don't know, it's just kind of weird.
- 41:39Speaker 1: But I could have sworn. You know, I did a
- 41:41Speaker 1: little googling. I couldn't find it per se because I
- 41:45Speaker 1: kept getting the press releases from the early for the
- 41:49Speaker 1: first time they were going to fight. But like, I
- 41:52Speaker 1: didn't think it was supposed to be pay per view here.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I could have sworn. I went through a couple of
- 41:57Speaker 1: interviews with Eddie and others, and I could have sworn
- 42:01Speaker 1: they said it wasn't gonna be payper here, and there's
- 42:03Speaker 1: really no reason, like you said, for it to be
- 42:04Speaker 1: pay per view. And yes, from the hardcore perspective, twenty
- 42:08Speaker 1: five bucks is good, we get it. But it all
- 42:12Speaker 1: goes down to they keep saying that it's going to
- 42:14Speaker 1: grow the sport and all that, this this whole Turkey
- 42:18Speaker 1: Saudi ring, it's all gonna grow the sport, and it
- 42:20Speaker 1: just it doesn't. How the fuck is it going to
- 42:22Speaker 1: grow the sport? I just don't. And we're gonna get
- 42:25Speaker 1: into this weekend back to back pay per views, you know,
- 42:28Speaker 1: three in a week basically, right. It just that one
- 42:33Speaker 1: threw me off. But like you said, hopefully The key
- 42:37Speaker 1: thing is, if you're spending this money, why not like
- 42:43Speaker 1: what kind of revenue you make it from it? Anyway?
- 42:46Speaker 1: You know, right, it's just it. And ultimately, if it
- 42:50Speaker 1: is a good fight it turned out to be, then
- 42:52Speaker 1: maybe do the pay per view for twenty five bucks
- 42:54Speaker 1: after you've gotten people their appetite. You know, it's gotten
- 42:59Speaker 1: up a little bit. Okay, I'll pay for that. That's cool.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Twenty five bucks. That's nothing, you know, I don't know that.
- 43:04Speaker 1: That's the only thing that bugged me because I could
- 43:07Speaker 1: have sworn that it wasn't pay per view originally, even
- 43:10Speaker 1: the not the original original two years ago. But I
- 43:14Speaker 1: could have sworn that it wasn't going to be pay
- 43:18Speaker 1: of you that all of a sudden, it just was.
- 43:20Speaker 1: So that part was kind of weird, like you said,
- 43:24Speaker 1: the timing of it everything, but it you know, from
- 43:26Speaker 1: the sounds of it, it did really well on pay
- 43:29Speaker 1: per view. You know, I don't have any numbers or
- 43:32Speaker 1: anything like that, but I could see why it would
- 43:35Speaker 1: sell there obviously, and it the rematch is going to
- 43:38Speaker 1: do even bigger my estimation. But I agree like Connor Ben,
- 43:45Speaker 1: you know, he hasn't really done much yet, and U
- 43:49Speaker 1: bank's been limited. At least he's fought in a higher
- 43:52Speaker 1: level of opponent win or lose, right, but we've seen
- 43:55Speaker 1: the ceiling, so and he's thirty five or whatever, so
- 43:59Speaker 1: you know, to me, you know, why not do it again?
- 44:04Speaker 1: And it sounds like this was a two fight deal.
- 44:07Speaker 1: And it's the same way, same rehydration, claus, same everything,
- 44:11Speaker 1: same stadium. It sounds like late September, so that'll work,
- 44:16Speaker 1: I think overall, and it's about as good a fight
- 44:19Speaker 1: as it could turn out to be. And if anyone
- 44:23Speaker 1: was gas and it was Ben late. I did think
- 44:26Speaker 1: that the referee was far too involved. And I know,
- 44:30Speaker 1: you know the US and Mexico, the way the fights
- 44:33Speaker 1: turn out with the one hand free we he liked
- 44:39Speaker 1: our fights to work with. If you only have if
- 44:42Speaker 1: you have a free one hand, he'd do something with it.
- 44:45Speaker 1: And I thought he was too involved, and that ref
- 44:49Speaker 1: is kind of one of those type of refs. But
- 44:51Speaker 1: I knew he was gonna be too involved John from
- 44:53Speaker 1: the start when they didn't touch gloves and he made
- 44:56Speaker 1: him touch gloves. You know, I was like, all right, dude,
- 44:58Speaker 1: you're gonna stop the fight because that they didn't touch
- 45:00Speaker 1: gloves like it's just I don't know, but he was
- 45:03Speaker 1: in there all the time and and it was mostly
- 45:06Speaker 1: Ben holding, so he actually was the one gassing. But
- 45:11Speaker 1: both of them got tired late and all that, because
- 45:13Speaker 1: you know, they threw a fair amount of punches. But
- 45:15Speaker 1: it did turn out. Any other things from that otherwise, Uh,
- 45:19Speaker 1: we could talk about uh yeah, the guard action.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, just one thing because it's it's rare and
- 45:25Speaker 2: it's the first fight I saw this from Connor Ben,
- 45:29Speaker 2: but it could be a trend going forward. Yeah. To me,
- 45:32Speaker 2: the only two fighters and I've mentioned this before really
- 45:37Speaker 2: in boxing that at least for me, come to mind,
- 45:40Speaker 2: who are better at hurting opponents to the body than
- 45:44Speaker 2: they are to the head or and these are total
- 45:47Speaker 2: opposite fighters. But it's what I see, And you know,
- 45:49Speaker 2: you've seen it with Gilberto Zerdo Ramirez throughout his career
- 45:54Speaker 2: and cor Stevenson has definitely started to have that trend.
- 45:59Speaker 2: It doesn't hurt guys up to the head, but he'll
- 46:01Speaker 2: hurt guys to the body at times when he commits
- 46:03Speaker 2: to it. Well, you saw that with Ben in this
- 46:06Speaker 2: U Bank fight. Like you know, even though yeah, he's
- 46:08Speaker 2: fighting a bigger guy, you know, he's supposedly this puncher,
- 46:12Speaker 2: and of course we're skeptical because the level of opposition.
- 46:15Speaker 2: And that was right because for a guy that was
- 46:17Speaker 2: supposedly this puncher, even fighting a bigger guy, Let's face it,
- 46:20Speaker 2: he was not hurting U Bank upstairs. But there was
- 46:26Speaker 2: a couple of times where he threw that left hook
- 46:29Speaker 2: to the body and he looked like he heard him.
- 46:33Speaker 2: That was you know, we'll have to see if that's
- 46:36Speaker 2: a trend going forward, because you just don't see that
- 46:39Speaker 2: much except for the two examples I mentioned, at least
- 46:41Speaker 2: that I can think of. But but I thought Ben
- 46:45Speaker 2: was doing some of that, you know, Saturday, So that
- 46:49Speaker 2: was kind of interesting to me because you know, for
- 46:51Speaker 2: a guy that was like this puncher going in even
- 46:54Speaker 2: fighting a bigger guy, I mean, I mean U Bank
- 46:56Speaker 2: did get stopped by Liam Smith. So but you know,
- 47:01Speaker 2: I didn't you know, really like you said, especially, I
- 47:04Speaker 2: just you didn't see connor Ben really really hurt. I mean,
- 47:08Speaker 2: you Bank didn't look like he was really concerned about
- 47:11Speaker 2: Connor Ben hurting him upstairs.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Yeah. I took up a couple of times, nothing serious.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Right, so that, but but I did see him he
- 47:22Speaker 2: seemed like he stung him to the body a couple
- 47:24Speaker 2: of times with that left hook to the body. So
- 47:27Speaker 2: I thought that was kind of interesting.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Because the shots upstairs didn't didn't the authority from the
- 47:34Speaker 3: lesser competition, and of course he was fighting at a
- 47:37Speaker 3: bit lower weight, but but that wasn't really carrying over to.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Me, right, Yeah, yeah, I thought the right hand of
- 47:43Speaker 1: the body early in the fight kind of made Ben
- 47:46Speaker 1: think about it too, So yeah, maybe and people did say, hey,
- 47:50Speaker 1: if you've got a guy that's potentially dreamed, John did
- 47:54Speaker 1: go to the body, you know, like the hell out
- 47:56Speaker 1: of the body, and if you're so aggressive at because
- 48:00Speaker 1: he wasn't throwing the jab enough I thought, especially early
- 48:03Speaker 1: in that fight. And the left hook was tight by Ben,
- 48:06Speaker 1: but you know that those looping right hands were just like, dude,
- 48:10Speaker 1: what do he First of all, they're not like you said,
- 48:12Speaker 1: they're not gonna do a whole lot anyway, so why
- 48:14Speaker 1: even waste your energy and you can get caught, which
- 48:17Speaker 1: he did with shorter punches. But maybe that'll be something
- 48:22Speaker 1: that he will apply because he was coming forward aggressively.
- 48:27Speaker 1: He was using a lot of head, body and upper
- 48:29Speaker 1: body movement. But yeah, maybe that will set up the
- 48:32Speaker 1: head shots where it's he can kind of catch him
- 48:36Speaker 1: when he's not ready or something. But I was just
- 48:40Speaker 1: going over that Chris Williams Smith victory over Brandon Glatton
- 48:44Speaker 1: that I thought was entertaining for about six seven, eight
- 48:47Speaker 1: rounds and then it became kind of one sided. Anthony
- 48:52Speaker 1: Yard did win the fight, but it was pretty lackluster
- 48:58Speaker 1: and the dal Riley basically just use a jab and movement,
- 49:03Speaker 1: and it was you know, as the fight went on,
- 49:06Speaker 1: there was a little two way spurts or whatever. But
- 49:10Speaker 1: or like I'm looking at my scorecard, the sixth round,
- 49:13Speaker 1: very very slow start to the sixth then it picked
- 49:16Speaker 1: up some, but it was I don't know, there was
- 49:21Speaker 1: a fifth round O'Reilly was actually throwing meaningful punches, but
- 49:25Speaker 1: I just didn't see enough meaningful punches in that fight.
- 49:30Speaker 1: But yeah, talk about some of the stuff on the
- 49:32Speaker 1: the undercard, John.
- 49:34Speaker 2: What what one thing I like about William Smith and
- 49:38Speaker 2: Glenn As you mentioned, you know, at least for the
- 49:40Speaker 2: first seven or eight rounds, right, it wasn't like a
- 49:43Speaker 2: you know, a great fight or a fight of the year.
- 49:45Speaker 2: But but I give both of those guys credit. They've
- 49:49Speaker 2: they've they're usually in entertaining fight. And that's where I
- 49:54Speaker 2: liked about the matchup. And uh, that was a good
- 49:57Speaker 2: solid matchup to have and U those those two guys,
- 50:01Speaker 2: I like that during their career, They've both been in
- 50:05Speaker 2: some some good fights over the course of their career,
- 50:07Speaker 2: and you know that that was a good fight. So
- 50:12Speaker 2: I did, uh, I did, uh, I did like. I
- 50:16Speaker 2: did like that. I I you know, I like that.
- 50:20Speaker 2: I like that matchup.
- 50:24Speaker 1: And then do you really even think much of Avidell Riley?
- 50:30Speaker 1: I mean, is there something to even look at, like
- 50:33Speaker 1: future wise with him?
- 50:36Speaker 2: And I don't I'm not I don't think. I don't
- 50:39Speaker 2: think really, Yeah, I don't. I don't think. I don't think.
- 50:44Speaker 2: I don't think really. I mean, it wasn't really that
- 50:51Speaker 2: you know, it wasn't really that stellar of a wasn't
- 50:54Speaker 2: that stellar of a chord really, But you know, you
- 50:59Speaker 2: got an entertain main event, and I'm good with the
- 51:04Speaker 2: I'm good with the rematch, right, And I think William Smith,
- 51:09Speaker 2: you know, I mean he's at the end. I think
- 51:10Speaker 2: he's at the end of the line.
- 51:12Speaker 1: You know, he's too many rounds you could give him
- 51:18Speaker 1: against that.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Right, I mean, I think he's you know, he's I
- 51:24Speaker 2: think he's at the end of the line. You know,
- 51:26Speaker 2: he's really for me. He's a guy that probably he
- 51:30Speaker 2: ended up going farther than you know, I would have
- 51:33Speaker 2: would have expected, of course, you know, the fighting family,
- 51:37Speaker 2: but probably went for you know, went farther, was able
- 51:41Speaker 2: to extend it further and expect and probably would be
- 51:44Speaker 2: a good time to call it a day. That doesn't
- 51:46Speaker 2: mean he's going to do it or has to do it,
- 51:49Speaker 2: but would wouldn't be a bad time to end it.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. So overall, you know, on the
- 51:59Speaker 1: undercard there were equally matched fights on paper, but really
- 52:06Speaker 1: the main event in the billion Smith, Glad and Fight
- 52:11Speaker 1: are really the only ones that turned out that way.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Do you think the yard like it was just like
- 52:18Speaker 1: a run of the middle tipe outing for him, or
- 52:22Speaker 1: you think he's starting to falter too, because he does
- 52:25Speaker 1: have these this up and down to him a little
- 52:28Speaker 1: bit where sometimes you seen me're like wow, you know,
- 52:30Speaker 1: and obviously he's fought a good level of competition. I
- 52:35Speaker 1: don't know, because I was I was looking at him
- 52:38Speaker 1: as a potential Benavidez opponent, but coming off of that
- 52:44Speaker 1: doesn't really warranted What are your thought about Anthony.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm glad. I'm glad you did remind me of that.
- 52:48Speaker 2: I mean I thought I took that one as a
- 52:50Speaker 2: lot like a like a like a moral loss for Yarn.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I mean, you know, he got upset by Arthur the
- 52:56Speaker 2: first time. Mm hmmm, turns that are, runs it around
- 53:00Speaker 2: and blows them out in a rematch, which really, you know,
- 53:06Speaker 2: was an eraser of that first stumble, which really was
- 53:09Speaker 2: a bad one. And then I don't I wasn't really
- 53:13Speaker 2: sure why they were having this rematch. But then he's age,
- 53:16Speaker 2: he's a massive favorite in it, and he's you know,
- 53:19Speaker 2: always known as this aggressive puncher. Blew the guy out
- 53:23Speaker 2: in the in the second fight. I mean, you know,
- 53:26Speaker 2: he's got to look impressive there and stop him. I mean,
- 53:28Speaker 2: this to me was just unacceptable, and I I just
- 53:33Speaker 2: don't for me, it's this confirmation I agree with you. You know,
- 53:36Speaker 2: there's a flash here and there, you know, a flash
- 53:38Speaker 2: here and there against covid LEV, a flash here and
- 53:41Speaker 2: there against better BV. But looking at the guy's whole career,
- 53:45Speaker 2: I just don't think the guy's that good. I mean,
- 53:48Speaker 2: that's what I think for Yard. I mean, this was
- 53:50Speaker 2: kind of like, I'm not going on one fight because
- 53:53Speaker 2: there's been a lot of time with him. I've been
- 53:56Speaker 2: thinking that, but this to me really was like I said,
- 54:01Speaker 2: in terms of the what you would expect out of
- 54:04Speaker 2: it was like the equivalent of a loss for him
- 54:08Speaker 2: to me, And you know, I just I'm really at
- 54:13Speaker 2: this point, you know, just sold that he's not that
- 54:17Speaker 2: good and yeah, if they step them up again against
- 54:24Speaker 2: somebody better, he's going to get knocked out again. And
- 54:29Speaker 2: I think that's why Warren has been kind of careful
- 54:32Speaker 2: with him like that.
- 54:33Speaker 1: You know.
- 54:34Speaker 2: You know, he did have the big step ups against
- 54:36Speaker 2: COVID eleven better BEV, and he had his moments, but
- 54:41Speaker 2: he got knocked out both times, you know, so at
- 54:44Speaker 2: one time by a jab.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Yeah so, and then.
- 54:48Speaker 2: The rest of his fights, the opposition, the rest of
- 54:51Speaker 2: his fights really hasn't been particularly good, even even to
- 54:54Speaker 2: this stage.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're right. It was like the most wide
- 55:00Speaker 1: on the on the you know, on the card as
- 55:03Speaker 1: far as betting odds, and yeah, he just just looked
- 55:07Speaker 1: like Lester didn't. You can't give the other you know,
- 55:10Speaker 1: you can't give Arthur a bunch of rounds or anything.
- 55:13Speaker 1: But it's just I don't know. Yeah, it just it
- 55:16Speaker 1: was very like, eh, yeah, whatever he won, he did win,
- 55:20Speaker 1: you know, but yeah, it's just I was I was
- 55:24Speaker 1: maybe it's maybe it's my fault for expectingmore. You know,
- 55:27Speaker 1: maybe maybe that's what it was.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Now, I think it was set up for that, Chris.
- 55:30Speaker 2: That's why I think he deserves to take some heat
- 55:32Speaker 2: for it, because he knocked the guy out in the
- 55:35Speaker 2: last fight. Wasn't supposed to lose to him in the
- 55:38Speaker 2: first fight. It was a huge upset and it was
- 55:41Speaker 2: really just being set up for him to look good
- 55:44Speaker 2: and the Cell, the Cell being.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Like, oh, well he lost to this Benevite's next or
- 55:49Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Right, And you know, he didn't excite anybody about him
- 55:55Speaker 2: fighting anybody better his next time around. And you know,
- 56:00Speaker 2: I think just on this card that was higher profile
- 56:04Speaker 2: because of that nature of the main event, with the
- 56:06Speaker 2: nostalgia for you know, Ben and Ewbank Senior, was just
- 56:10Speaker 2: a chance for RD to look good. He was a
- 56:13Speaker 2: huge favorite this time. And you know, he's known as
- 56:16Speaker 2: this aggressive puncher with the high KO percentage. So I
- 56:20Speaker 2: think even with the w that that was that was
- 56:24Speaker 2: a setback for.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Him, right, Yeah, And you know, this weekends really funky
- 56:34Speaker 4: because when you look at three main events, so you
- 56:36Speaker 4: have some names.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Ryan Garcia and Canelo and Innu Way and so you're like, wow, okay,
- 56:41Speaker 1: there's some names going on and sinking to my o,
- 56:43Speaker 1: and but then when you look at their opponents, it's
- 56:47Speaker 1: just like, okay, wow that they like I'm looking forward
- 56:52Speaker 1: to Teo, Fema Lopez and Barboza. I'm looking forward to
- 57:00Speaker 1: Bakoli fa seeing you know, I'm even I kind of look,
- 57:05Speaker 1: we talked about this when it got made again that
- 57:10Speaker 1: should this fight even be happening or shouldn't they pushed
- 57:12Speaker 1: it back because we know yet it wasn't a brutal knockout,
- 57:16Speaker 1: but he did travel to go get knocked out, and
- 57:19Speaker 1: then all of a sudden he's still in that fight.
- 57:21Speaker 1: So we'll see how that goes. But it's just the
- 57:26Speaker 1: main events just suck on paper.
- 57:28Speaker 5: And hey, I hope Skull does something, you know, I
- 57:32Speaker 5: hope Roley does something, But on paper is really what's
- 57:38Speaker 5: going to sell something?
- 57:39Speaker 1: And yeah, I saw the I saw the the the
- 57:44Speaker 1: video game promo, which once again pretty much anything coming
- 57:50Speaker 1: out of Turkey and Saudi Arabia with these promos with
- 57:54Speaker 1: the money behind it. They're really good, they're phenomenal. Some
- 57:57Speaker 1: of them have been awesome. But it looks like it's
- 58:03Speaker 1: a Ryan Arcia Devin Haney fight, you know, and they're like, hey,
- 58:06Speaker 1: by the way, they're not fighting though, you know. So
- 58:09Speaker 1: once again, it's it's very misleading, even though it is
- 58:12Speaker 1: a great commercial. But you and I talked about this,
- 58:18Speaker 1: John that that twenty five dollars is a cool thing,
- 58:22Speaker 1: but it's not going to stay, you know, It's not
- 58:25Speaker 1: gonna be like that for every fight. And here we are,
- 58:29Speaker 1: they're charging fifty or sixty dollars a piece. They're giving
- 58:33Speaker 1: you a double dip if you buy both of them,
- 58:37Speaker 1: it's ninety dollars. What's really strange. I just went to
- 58:40Speaker 1: the app before I hit record. I couldn't find the
- 58:43Speaker 1: pay for you to buy it. It's not on there
- 58:46Speaker 1: right now. Yeah, and I'm wondering if other people are
- 58:51Speaker 1: having are going to or whatever. But the whole point
- 58:55Speaker 1: is it's like, if you're used to paying seventy or
- 58:58Speaker 1: eighty dollars for a pace view, paying ninety for two
- 59:02Speaker 1: full pay per views, with some with probably two to three,
- 59:06Speaker 1: like Munkia, what's he gonna do in the rematch. I
- 59:09Speaker 1: mentioned the other two fights. I can understand from a
- 59:13Speaker 1: hardcore perspective. Yeah, man, I'm getting two fights in a night,
- 59:17Speaker 1: you know, in one buy, but you're also doing a
- 59:21Speaker 1: pay per view back to back nights and that's three
- 59:25Speaker 1: in a matter of a week. And we don't even
- 59:28Speaker 1: have to say what the messaging would be all on
- 59:32Speaker 1: boxing Twitter if a certain platform, and we know the
- 59:35Speaker 1: platform BBC, if they did this, people would be just
- 59:40Speaker 1: killing them. Instead. It's like, well, I'm getting a good
- 59:43Speaker 1: bang for my buck because I'm used to paying eighty
- 59:46Speaker 1: or ninety, So that's fine. And I get that from
- 59:48Speaker 1: a hardcore perspective, But look at these main events, John,
- 59:53Speaker 1: why not have it free Friday night? You're we've already
- 59:56Speaker 1: given them credit for the for the uh, the New
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: York Times Square thing. I think it's outside the box.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I do like it a lot, and they're thinking it's
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: gonna create so much buzzed, you know, tonight and tomorrow
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: that people are gonna go to the app and buy it.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: And maybe when they get there and they see Canelo,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: oh I know Canelo Okay, yeah boom, I'll buy them both.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Maybe that'll work. Out just fine, But why not once again,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: if you're gonna spend the money, why not, and they're
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: not fighting each other, then why not make that free
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: to sell the pay per view the next night and
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: also in the fall to sell the rematch between Devin
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Haiti and Garcia. And we said this from the start
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: that there's really no like, why do you have to
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: hype the fight when they already had it. It did
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: a pretty good number actually, and it was an interesting fight.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: They both have a year off. Just fight right now.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I don't understand it. But what are your thoughts just
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: on the back to back night pay per view on
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: three pay per views in a week, just because you're
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: giving me a discount? Okay, cool, it's only about forty
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: five dollars each pay per view, but it's just is there?
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I mean they've done what one card that was in
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: the pay view WIZARDO. I mean, what are your thoughts here?
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Because I like the outside of the box New York thing.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I think it's a great idea. And some people are complaining, know,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: the fans don't get to go I hear you. And
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: if he always did this then it'd be kind of
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: funky for the fans. But I like the idea of it,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: and I think it will draw attention, like I see
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: it online right now, drawing attention.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Well, I think I'm gonna on this one. I'll I'll
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: just say, because there's plenty I don't like. I think
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: on this one, I'm going to say what I do
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: like first and get that out of the way. That's
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: fair the opposite, Get the positive part out first. The
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: part I like is you've got Ryan Garcia on the card,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Devin Haney on the card, tia Fimo Lopez with the
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: diminished state boxing is in in the US. Those are
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: three of them. It's sad that it's this diminished, but
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: I with that understood. Yeah, that's three of the top
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: draws that you have in the US right now. Now,
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: I'm with you. Hani and Garcia should be fighting each
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: other again now. But at least you've got three of
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: the top draws on the card. And then you're in
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Times Square not worrying about Live Gate, which I think
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: in the year twenty twenty five, I've said it a lot.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: I'm not saying there's not some money there, but so
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: much is by you're broadcasting in all sports that you know,
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: that's the number one driver that it was a good
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: move to not worry about having a live gate and
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: saying we've got this Times Square opportunity to hype it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: And you know New York, New York Metro, New Jersey,
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: you know, in in the US, this is one of
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: the most historic boxing areas, you know, mac Madison Square
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Gardens nearby. It's not what it used to be, just
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: like everywhere else, but you still do have that history
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: and a traditional playbook that always had worked in this
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: area in the past, even twenty years ago when boxing
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: was generally more popular than it is now. Because you're
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: just still you just unfortunately just do have a fade.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: You just do the playbook that always worked was you know, Yet,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: you have a New York area event, you know in
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: New York ac you know in Jersey, you know, across
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: the river, and you get all the New York media
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: covering it, you know, the local New York TV. I mean,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: you got fifteen million people in that area. You know,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: that's that's a lot of people, and you know, and
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: I see it, and that's what that's why I like,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I'm here right now in Jersey, so I will be
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: tracking that just being a hardcore you know, boxing follower
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: and commentator because I'm in the thirty five mile radius
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: and i get that feel of what's going on easily
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: when I'm there and I'm I'm here, so I'm gonna
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: be watching. But in recent events, like when they've had
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Tea Fema fighting, you know, in the garden, things like that,
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I've heard. I have heard people talking about him a
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: little bit like you know, you used to have and
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: you don't anymore. But I'm not seeing like the local
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: TV or the newspapers. When I say newspapers, I mean,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: you know it's online nowadays. That used to be the automatic,
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: you know, New York metro media coverage, which was huge
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: to get that additional coverage if you had to fight
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: here with the history that this is part of that playbook.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: But you're not getting that coverage like you were twenty
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: years ago even so I like trying to tap into
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: that because that has historically been effective, but it hasn't
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: been as effective recently, so I'm kind of tracking that.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: So I like that, and then just you know, on
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: the other card, I just like the Joba Bakoli fight.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: You know, if Turkey has done one good thing at all,
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: this it's you know, to me, it's focusing on the
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: big guys and just getting these guys together fight. And
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: he's done a pretty good job of that.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he's made a lot of fights.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Now what what What don't I like is eyes
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: right into what you said. I mean, there's no reason
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: for Garcia and Hainy just just not to fight again.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: We don't need an in between that should have been
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: this right here. Had that in New York, you'd really
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: have a chance to get more buzz. The only odds
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: fight close on the whole weekend We close as tia
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Fimo Lopez and Barbosa, which is even tightened up a
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: little bit, probably because tia Fimo the performances can be erratic,
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: and then he relies on the counting your power and
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: if there's one thing Barbosa does, he doesn't have power,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: but he throws, So you could see a scenario, even
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: though to me tia Fimo Lopez is a much better
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: fighter all around, where he gets out hustled. I hope
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: he doesn't let that happen to him, because I do
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: like the guy's talent, but it could happen. So I
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: get that Haney's a massive favorite over Ramirez. You know,
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: I do a little bit hany a year off getting
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: hanged around by Garcia. Yeah, I mean, you know, Jose
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Ramirez does come forward and throw. He's not a power puncher,
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: but and he's got amateur pedigree. You know, if Han's
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: a little off, I mean, and he's a huge he's
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: a he's a big underdog. He's a huge underdog. But
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: you know, I could see maybe a scenario where you know,
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Ramirez is is hustling, moving forward and maybe taking some rounds.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: But but here's what I don't like. I don't like
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: cards where the odds are huge and we've got to
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: speculate like that. Like I think that's where some boxing
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: fans and commentators writers make a mistake. Like, you know,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: if Han's a minus nine hundred, you know, it's still
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: not a reason to buy the card to say, hey,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: I think Ramirez can maybe do something more than expected. Yeah,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: I mean he's a you know, Haines's a minus nine
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: hundred favorite. I think that Rawley's I think he takes
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: more heat and he deserves on his ability. He's crude,
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: but he has some power. But I do feel like
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: he's tailor made for Ryan Garcia that one I thought
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: from the beginning, because he swings wide, and if there's
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: one thing Ryan Garcia can do, it's you know, he
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: can throw some fast to our punches with power, and
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: I could just easily see him lighting up Raleigh in
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: between wide swings, and you know, he's a huge favorite.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: But I just that one I don't see being a surprise,
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: even with how erratic Ryan Garcia can be. When you
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: see you know, what he's done and stuff he's done
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: out of the ring. It just it just seems to
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: me like that one's, you know, Raleigh's tailor made for him.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: It shouldn't be pay per view. I mean, it's it
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: doesn't go there's no synergy with the idea of we're
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: gonna be in Times Square, we're not gonna worry about
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Live Gate, and then, as you said correctly, because we're
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: gonna put up a paywall. You know who wants a
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: ninety dollars package deal When Canelo is a minus eleven
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: hundred favorite against Skull, Now that's another one. I don't
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: think you buy it on this basis. But Skull has
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: no power. He's just gonna be spoiler and try to box.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: But you know, Canelo, he's getting older, he's been around
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: a long time now, and his volume just can it
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: has been dropping, and you know it can just drop.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: And he hasn't been stopping people lately. You know, he's
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: he's scoring knockdowns, but he hasn't been stopping anybody. So again,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I don't see that as a reason to buy or
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: if something weird happens and people say, oh, I told
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: you so, that was worth it. No, you can't be
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: buying fights when Canelo is an eleven hundred minus eleven
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: hundred favorite, just saying, oh, maybe we're gonna get surprised here.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: But I do see a little bit of how that
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: could happen. I was surprised. I'm surprised how big of
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: an underdog. I mean, even a job was a big underdog.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I noticed that. I thought it'd be a little tighter.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna call plus. Yeah. I don't
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: want to go right out and pick him, but I
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: am going to call value on that one. And I
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: did already go on that one on value. I mean
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: I got him at three plus three hands, so I
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: guess it's even a little higher. But I thought, you know,
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Bacoli coming off the knockout loss, even though it was
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: quick and it wasn't like he was getting beaten up.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: But even though he's a heavyweight where you don't have
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: to make the weight, that fight wasn't that long ago.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: After we're saying, you know where he was concussed. But
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: also even at heavyweight when you don't have to make
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: the weight, like, I don't think Beacoli's gonna get all
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: he was. He was way out of shape, and I
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: don't think he's gonna get all that weight off. I
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: know it's heavyweight, you don't have to make weight, but
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: I'm thinking, like, man, the dude sixty days ago was
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: not in good shape.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Yeahler's probably shut him down for at least a week
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: or two. You'd assume, is.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Sure, right, I mean right back so you know, a jog.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: But I mean Coroma has made him a better boxer.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: We've talked about that. I mean, he's not a great boxer,
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: but you do see things that have registered. I don't
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: think he is as effective, but I guess what I'm
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: thinking here is if he you know, Coroma has drilled
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: that into him enough that you know, if he boxes
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: effectively at times against Bakoli, but he adds the old
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: power punching volume he used to have with that. I mean,
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Bacoli got stopped late against Michael Hunter. You know, people
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: like to forget about that because he beat Yoka and
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Anderson after that, but you know that's still there. I mean, like,
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: and this guy was heavy sixty days ago. So I'm
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: even talking myself into it more as I think about it. Yeah,
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: I feel pretty good about taking a shot on a
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: jog bond this one. Yeah, I do feel because you know,
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Bakoli the conditioning, you know, Now a Job was got
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: to take his shots. You know, Job was six six,
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: but he's not as heavy and sturdy as Bakoli. But
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: you know, the guy's got he's got good volume, you know,
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: you know when he really gets gets back to him,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: doesn't try to box too much, and you know he
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: you know, both guys do need this one now. I mean,
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: you know it's it's important like that as well. So
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: I like that fight. I think a Job was a
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: pretty good value there. You know, I could see I
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: don't see any where Skull and Canelo is going to
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: be a good fight, but you know, I do see
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: a scenario maybe where Skull's just playing spoiler boxing him
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: and Canelo's volumes down. But that's not like a particular fight.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: I'm excited to see even if that happens, and it's
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: it's closer than expected or something. And you know, one
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: thing that actually super I was I was thinking when
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: Gia was going to be a good bet because people
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: would like it just shows you how you can't fool
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: the odds bakers because he got knocked out last time
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: and he's moon Ge is a minus nine hundred favorite.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: It's like, uh, it's like he got screwed in the
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: first fight with a bad decision and they're just does
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: that or something? It did so weird. He would think
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: he'd be that big at all.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: I don't think that. I think he win him, but
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: not like that. I didn't think it'd be that big.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: But I do think he'll get a ko this time.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: The guy's not a puncher. He legitimately knocked him out.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: But and I you know, you hate to be taken
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: away from Sirace, but you gotta call it as you
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: see it. And it was just fluky, you know, it
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: was just fluky. And I have found that in my
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: experience of watching boxing when people tend to overrate somebody
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: who who lands like a fluky good shot like that
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: and because they want to give him credit and it
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: just doesn't carry over. I think a Julius and Dongo
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: with that ko of Troyanovsky is one round and then
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: everybody got hyped up about him and.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: You seeded to just get stopped quick, to.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: Just keep getting stopped quick for like the rest of
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: his career. It seemed like, you know, but he wasn't
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: a big puncher. It was like the first round and
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: just landed, just landed a bomb. I always used that
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: because it's it's one of the best examples of all time.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: I mean Doug de Witt, who you know, had had
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: had gone the distance with Herns and McCrory and just
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: take a shot after shot and was on a top
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: ranked card fighting Jose Canonas and the guy just throws
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: a wild bomb and knocks him, knocks them to wick
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: cold early, like a guy who was totally durable and
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: never gets stopped and just once. It's something you don't
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: see often. It's really fair, just like a non hunch
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: or with the perfect shot against somebody who takes a
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: good shot. It's rare but it happens once in a while,
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: and I think that's what they're they're looking at with
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: this Si race mun Gia. But the minus nine hundred
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: even shocked me, just like it did you. I thought, man,
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: I thought he'll be a favorite, but minus nine hundred.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: I wouldn't have guessed that.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: Now, I'm not I'm not betting Sarrace. I'm not betting
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: him as any value or anything. I'm not recommending that.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: But it was surprising that the odds bakers were so
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: confident that the guy that got knocked out the first time.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, especially his style and his style to it. Yeah,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: he gets in a fair amount. So like right now,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: he was doing really good in the fight up until
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: that point. But still, like, I guess, the only way
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I bet on that guy if I just put like
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: ten dollars down or something, you know what I mean, Like, yeah,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I'll make sixty bucks, who cares, you know, or something
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: like that. But other than that, I have interest just
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: because I want to see Mungia where he's at and
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: how he handles this. I will say that that that's fair.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: But yeah, I just I don't understand the pay per
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: view if they're not fighting.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: No, this is I'm with you all the way, Chris.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: This this pay per view stuff for these fights is
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: just bad. Turkey's not delivering there. I mean, forget the
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: bundle thing. I mean, you got poor you got poor
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: SAPs out there who are paying for DIZ owned subscriptions,
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: and then they're supposed to put out pay per view
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: money for this.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: And that's the thing about his own is they're just
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: they had the most pay per views now and for
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: a while, we know the PBC had that and sometimes
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: they have too many of them. We still say that,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: but it's like I just don't I don't get it,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: Like they they already charged the most out of any
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: streaming service in.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: America right by a long shot, by a long shot.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: And then it's like, what's really on there? And then
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: they're going to charge pay per view? I just and
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: then they make it such a big deal and he's
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: putting his foot down like, oh, it's my goal to
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: make twenty five dollars pay per views except in the US,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: you know, Like okay, Like I don't know, it's just
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: it's just silly.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I don't think people. I don't think people are going
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: to see that. I really in the US, and I
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: know a lot of times, you know, British British listeners
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: and overseas people wonder what's going on here. I mean,
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: I'll make my call on that. I don't I don't
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: think with the way where things are boxing in the
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: US right now, I don't think any of these fights
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: are selling this weekend. I mean, the inn a way,
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: the monster hype, I mean, the guy hasn't been fighting
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: anybody lately. He's not fighting it. He's a minus five
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: thousand you know, in a way fighting in the US
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: is not a spin at this point that that makes
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: it a big deal when he's a minus five thousand
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: favorite over a guy and he's been fighting lesser opposition lately.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: I mean, you know, him and Nakatani should just be fighting, period,
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: you know, away right, I mean, notice our themes here.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: There are there are guys that just should be fighting
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: here that are not fighting each other, and then they're
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: asking you to, you know, pay a pay per view
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: premium for these fights. Doesn't mean you might not get
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: an upset, but not enough people are going to see
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: these fights in the US. It's and you know, these
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: every time you do that, it's missed opportunities because what
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: do you building up to. I mean again, it would
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: have to be that old playbook And I'm going to
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: report in on that from what I see around here,
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: you know, next time we talk, because that really is
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: a big part of that. You know, that playbook, that
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: old playbook that they used to work. Like, yeah, if
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: they're going pay per view with these fights, I mean
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: they got to get ancillary publicity, you know, from from
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: New York metro media. And if they you know, they
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: do gain some what if they get that, but if
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: but if they don't get it and they're putting these
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: pay per view, there's just not going to be enough
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: exposure right here in the US. There's not going to
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: be enough. And I mean there's there's potential for US
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: sensibilities what they're doing because Canelo's fighting this weekend. You know,
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: he's Mexican, but with all the time he spends in
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: the US and especially Mexican Mexican American fan base, you know,
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: that's like a US sensibility guy. I mean, Haini, Garcia, Lopez,
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: these guys are US sensibility guys. And and really with
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: what Turkey is doing with the heavyweights, if he would
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: do a better job of getting us exposure. I mean,
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: I think people still want to see heavyweights back it out,
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: but I just don't feel like a lot of people
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: in the US are frankly, are going to see any
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: of these fights this weekend. So boxing fans have to
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: kind of be re realistic and and keep perspective. The
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: side benefit I'm looking for is with the fights in
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: actually in Times Square, does do they start getting what
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: we call free media coverage? You know, because especially the
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: zone needs that because they don't own a TV network
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: or anything like that. So do they do they get
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: that out of this? I mean, if they if they
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: get that out of this, it might still be a
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: win for him in the long haul, even though not
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: that many people pay for the pay per view. But
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: if they don't get that with with where I think
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: these pay per view numbers are going to be real
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: low for all the all these fights this weekend. You
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: know that that that's just more missed, the more missed opportunity,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: and and in a way against such a lesser opponent,
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: that that's that's not doing anything for anybody at this point.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Yeah, And like if you're going to grow the zone
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: and you're not going to do a time by with
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Amazon or Basic Cable to show it or whatever. Right,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: then at least try to give like a free week
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: or a free month, a free trial something like, just
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: like build his own up, like it never got built up.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: The only time it was really that they were trying
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: fully was that first two twenty nineteen. And I remember
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: that fall when they had that string and this is
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: where there was no pay per views and they had
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: that string of fights and it was they had commercials.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I saw during during a Fox broadcast for baseball. I
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: saw they had the before it became Peacock. It was
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: the NBC Sports. They had like little uh, you know,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: the hype videos there, Like it just seems like, man,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: if you're gonna spend all this money, then why not
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: put it someplace or at least, like I said, build
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: up to dionne Brun because until his zone gets any
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: form of traction, it's just not gonna mean a damn thing. Right.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: And then they're also gonna buy paper. They don't know
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: the zone, but they're gonna go buy it. And then okay,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: I saw this commercial today, John, Okay, I'm gonna go
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: to the site. Oh I can't buy it like it's
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: it's just like who, I don't know, it's it's just
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: it's just weird.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: It's just it is It's no, it's it's weird. There's
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: a there's a disconnect with US sensibilities. That's why I
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: keep talking about it. This weekend is the first one
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: of the only times that there's been a semblance of
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: US sensibilities.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: But it's we hear about the card coming, which looks
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: good and that type of thing, but once again, is
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: it gonna be paid for you or not?
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Right? And even in the US, I mean, which is
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: kind of not a bad idea with the name. I mean,
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: like you know, it was it's been around so long,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: like there are like people that like know what the
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: ring is. It doesn't mean that they'd be like buying
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: boxing magazines all the time or anything, but like, you know,
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: it's been in movies, you know, I mean going back
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: to the seventies, you know, and before even before the seventies,
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: so you know movies, you know. Just I mean kind
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: of like people kind of know what what that is.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: They're using that as like a branding thing now. But
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: but the pay per view strategy and the broadcast strategy
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: is just completely out of whack.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's uh, we'll see if that's gonna be a
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: pay per view that card where they have where they
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: have some good fights on it with the Stevenson and
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Berlanga and Morrell and uh, what's the other Mattias. We'll
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: see if that's pay per viewer for that's just straight
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: up on the zone. I'm guessing it's pay per view.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: But at least it's in New York, I'll say that.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: And you know, I don't know, like why, like I said,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: why not do a deal with the streaming service and
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: have them get behind it or something, because otherwise I
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: think people really really think like Twitter's real life, you.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: Know exactly right. That's that's what I'm trying to keep them, right,
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: trying to perspective right, Mostly it's not you know right,
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: that's like hardcore boxing people in their.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Own bubble, right exactly.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: That's what it is out there on X and like
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: like that, right, That's why I feel like you have
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: to kind of set them straight like that sometimes. I mean,
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: in a way, fighting a guy who he's a minus
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: five thousand favorite just because it's in the US, you
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: know that that that's not registering and he we're in
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: the guys one hundred and twenty two pounder, you know Canelo,
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: I mean, you know he's you know, his name's you
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: as Sensibility, but you know, fighting in Saudi Arabia and
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: gets an unknown opponent, big favor even if there's a surprise,
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: and you know the Mungi again when when you have
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: mungiasrace one is a huge upset. But it's it's just
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: a top rank ESPN broadcast, you know, and now now
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: it's on a pay per view platform. I mean, this
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: is the stuff that's just doesn't doesn't work, not enough,
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: not enough exposure. So it's too bad. It's too bad
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: because you know, like and and you also see like
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: a like where you see you and I have talked
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: about this a lot, and really Friday's card is kind
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: of a perfect example. Like these these are like the
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: types of fights that like top ranks should have been
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: leading up to where then they were on ESPN getting
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: a huge rating or something like it just would always
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: never happen mostly never happened. You know, you had like
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: Lopez Tailor and Lowa Chanko Lopez. There was a couple
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: of exceptions here and there but not many, right, but
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: not enough, but like like it's it's like it's kind
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: of like this is what was being built towards that
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: should have happened with that ESPN deal. Yes, that's gonna
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: go away, and then instead.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: It's on this card.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: It's on this card.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: It's a good fight too, it's a very good fight. Yeah,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I just it's just it is kind of funky, how
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: uh you know? And we keep hearing not only it's
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: gonna grow the he's gonna go the sport, he's going
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: to turn around the sport, but also we hear the
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: best fight and the best and all that. Well to me,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: and I said it right when these fight got announced.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: This is run of the mill boxing that we've seen
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: this before. This isn't you know, This isn't new, This
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: isn't different, This isn't a bud, This isn't the cards
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: he had prior or even that card in February. This
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: is run of the mill ship except we've already seen
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: these two fights and it should just be a rematch.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: We've seen though the mismatches the showcases to get to
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: a fight next that's a little different. But this isn't
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: that because it's it's on pay per view for one,
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: like you said, and two they fought already so there's
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: no need to hype up it further. And then when
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: you if you get any hype, it's gonna go to
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Sadi anyway. So it's just I don't know.
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: Man, No, I think I think it happened even earlier
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: on You know, it's funny because totally separate entities and
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: styles and people involved in things like that. But if
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: if in showing a fair take, I think on the
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: whole thing, like I see an accelerated mistake by Turkey
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: that PBC made but took a while. I thought PBC
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: battled harder and tried to do it, which which is like,
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: you know, we know PBC went without mentioning the alphabets
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: for a year, and they did time buys on ESPN,
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: you know, NBC, CBS at least at least they did
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: that rating, right, They did that for a year. They tried,
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: they got resistance from competitors in the industry, and like
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: Turkey got like one one bit of blowback from the
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: WBC and he goes into complete collapse. I mean, like that,
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: I got disgusted right there, and I see evidence of
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: that here as you're saying, Chris, like, you know, the guy,
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: he got one little bit of blowback from the WBC,
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: which in my opinion, he could have just steamrolled on me.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: He should have just brushed it off. And he rolls
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: and you know, now we're back to just what you're saying,
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: like supposed fights that are leading up to things and
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: already back to sticking in it. I mean, it's obvious
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: in boxing what's become the marketing is and fans are
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: stupid like this frankly, so they need to wake up,
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: Like even hardcore is like take a fight that's not
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: that good and stick an alphabet belt on it, stick
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: some kind of alphabet belt. Right, there's unification, it's it's
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: under it's it's this one's undisputed. Like you know Skull,
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: it's undisputed. They gave him the ib so now it's disputed,
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: and Duboi it's it's undisputed now when he's fighting Duba again,
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: oh six, fighting Duboa again because the IBF gave him
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: a belt, like but it's but then it's all it's
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: other crap fights that then they stick an alphabet belt
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: on and make it or make it for some bacon alphabet,
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: you know, like, you know, now Zis is going to
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: fight some guy we've never heard of, because they're gonna
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: strip Fundora, you know, like, And I don't blame at
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: all PBC for putting Fondora and Zoo together again, you talk, Yeah,
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: I did. Like I said, if I would, I applied
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: it to all promoters. Look, yeah, exactly, they're gonna listen.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: If it makes sense for them, They're gonna listen, right
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: the alphabets to do it. But if it doesn't make
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: sense for them, and I don't blame them, then they're
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: not gonna care about the alphabet thing. They're gonna drop it.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: You know. It's funny. I saw people basically what you're
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: talking about to complaining, Like I really wanted to see
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: that fight because it led to undisputed.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Right right.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, there was a lot of
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: work to do to get undisputed. In fact, you can
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: make an argument that you can create a linear well,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: first of all, you have a lineal, But if you
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: can create a new lineal without the belts all together, actually.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: So exactly, that's what you gotta get back to. That's
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: that's what boxing's lost because even the networks used to
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: be willing to promote that, and you know now it's
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: just alphabet everything and and and and it's.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: It's just because of the belt. And it's like, so
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: you think tim zoan fandor is not a fun fight
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: now just right, not for that belt. It's still for
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: a belt, like who gives a ship?
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: Like exactly, Like you know, I mean, anybody in the
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: right mind doesn't think who's sick's the heavyweight champion right now?
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: I mean there there is no dispute just because an
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: alphabet gives D bell. Yeah, that's not a dispute. That's
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: not a legitimate dispute.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: You know, it's Yeah, it says it right there, right, undisputed. Right,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: there's no dispute. That's a great way to put it.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: You are a lawyer, sir.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: I always look at it that way, and a lot
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: of people don't get it, Like what are you talking about, Like,
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: no dispute the definition of it if it's it's disputed
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: that that that you know, you're clearing it up. There's
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: there nobody, nobody with a brain thinks to base the
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: heavyweight champion in the world.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no dispute at all.
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: I mean USAK knocked him out the last time. I mean,
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: you know, recently recently, you know, so there is no
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: dispute at all. And yeah, then then right fans like, oh,
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: I'm annoyed that there that you know that w B
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: l O bells going to be there for the zoo door.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: I mean, who cares? Who cares? Who cares? You know,
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: I don't. I don't blame PPC for that, but I
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: and I think like Herky got a little bit of
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: the resistance that PBC was get and and frankly, he
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: rolled over much earlier.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and it wasn't even from the press, right, it
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: was from one video of him pushing out a belt
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: And that's right, And what the hell, dude, you didn't
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: get a year of misinformation at you. You didn't get
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: a year of such a bullshit from the some of
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: the top media members in boxing, like.
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: Right, wild, it is exactly like And that's where I
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: got really disappointed what he's doing, because you know, you know,
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: I was trying to be optimistic about it, but it
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: was exactly what you said, Like, he does the right
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: thing and pushes out a WBC bell and he gets
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: some blowback from the w B seeing some dumb fans. Frankly, yeah,
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: he caves in immediately and he's he's having WBC Grand
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: Prixx and stuff, you know.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Yeah, right, and where the hell I couldn't even really
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: see that.
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: I checked out some and like, yeah, you know it
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: really it's still even then with guys just starting out.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: It still depends who you get because like the fights
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: I was seeing, the guys had good records, and then
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: I was watching them fight and I was like, these
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: guys can't even make a good fight because they're not
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: that good, you know, So like who's gonna sit there?
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: You know, who's gonna sit there through days of that?
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: I mean nobody, Yeah, three days.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: Not even boxing fans. I felt sorry for the compets.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: I mean, give me something that like if I got kidnapped, and.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: I was just it was a lot at all these
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: weird times that I heard like, you know, BARRD. Jones,
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: what British cogitator? You know, I think he's pretty good,
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: and uh, I thought that this is Barry Jones. This
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: has got to be like torture for here all day,
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: just like doing these fights, fight after fight, you know.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Doing the clock or an orange therapy, you know, with
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: the right.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: So you know that that's kind of becoming my new test.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: Like what it's where it's not even enjoyable or fun
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: for me to watch as a fan or a follower
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: or historian and it feels like a chore, Then then
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: something's wrong, because what's that going to be like for
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: for some casual person.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: You know, waiting for the fighter to fight right five
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: hours later? You know, yeah, yeah, that's that's that's kind
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: of interesting. Any other items that you'd like to talk
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: about or you know, obviously we missed a couple of weeks.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: If there's any any kind of thing you want a
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: nutshell or whatever.
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: Uh, you know, yeah, trying to trying to think over oh,
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: you know, and has had a good performance against Stannie.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, very very responsible, very under control.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: I like that.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, got them, you know, surprising how how
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: how easy he was able to handle them. I mean
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: you could see you know, Stanionis could couldn't even he
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: just just couldn't even take the shots and do his
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: usual coming forward you know. So that was a that
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: was a really you know, that was a really good uh,
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: that was a really good performance by by Nis. So
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: that was that was something worthy of no, and then
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: just you know, I I do like I actually like
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: du Bois. I just think, forget the right, forget the
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: undisputed stuff though, you know, forget trying to sell it
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: in the US as a pay per Viewnion. We need
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: to see more creativity here with what they're doing. I mean,
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: you know, you know, it's already a ad marketing start,
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: like the fight I like, but it's just not the
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: right it's just not off to the right start marketing wise.
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: And I don't have any confidence that you know, they're
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: going to have a non pay per view in the
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: US and try at least pick up some viewers.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Yeah, now I hear that. It's just especially in the summer,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: like that's the time by time if you think about
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: it for sports, because there's not you know, you got baseball,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: you get some stuff going on, but you could time
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: buy some ship, that's for sure, and you could draw
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: attention when no, you know, when not a lot of
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: stuff's going on. So yeah, we'll see, you know, what
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: comes up. But I do like that fight. I love
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: that it's in Wen Lisa. You know the crowd's going
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: to come out and you know, hey, Daniel.
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: You never know, you never get old. I mean even
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: for him, you know, nobody can nobody can go on forever.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: And guys what thirty eight and mean now if to
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: block can get back to the body, you know, exactly
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: like he did in that last fight. And we know
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: there have been moments where Usik does seem to have
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: trouble taking it down there as opposed to some others.
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: If there's one weakness he's shown, that really could be it.
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: So we'll see. I mean, you know, but but I
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: do again, even though it's a rematch, I like that fight.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: I mean, Dubois done enough lately and you Buss legitimately
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: at the top of the mountain and he is the champ.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: So I mean, you know, you know, Dubois. Some people
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: talking Parker, but but d what even though he thought
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: usick once already he deserved dub deserves a shot as
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: much as anybody right now, which what he's with what
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: he's done lately. So yeah, I don't because you know
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: Parker on that run, yeah, a good run. But you
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: know Pacola on short notice. I mean, Wilder and Zang
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: are old, you know, I mean, yeah, I know where
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: they were ranked. I get all that. You know, I
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: get that the performances were good, but still, you know,
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: I think I think what Dubois has done lately, he
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: deserves it as much as anyone. So and I think personally,
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: I think a rematch with Dubois is actually more interesting
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: than Usik Parker. I think I just think it's a
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: better fight. So because he's got that power, right, Dubla
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: is younger and he's got that power. So and and
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: you know, he had him hurt in the first fight
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: with that body shot, so you know, it's not like
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: he wasn't able to put any hurt on him. So yeah,
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: I do. I do like that one. I just I
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: keep going with the steam. But I think it matters.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: There's there's just gotta be more sense of us sensibilities
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: with with marketing these fights that they're putting together, not
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: having him not pay per view, and and and uh,
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: you know where they're more accessible, because that's the problem.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: If you just put it on his own it's not
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: accessible either.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: And then one last question, that picture of you looks
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: like like up high is that West Virginia or Pennsylvania?
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: That is West Virginia on the top of You're correct,
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: that's at the top of a building. So my video
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: beat in the dark with the power of so bad,
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: I realized I could have my stock picture up.
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: And I can see those bluffs. John, So I figured
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: it as West Virginia.
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: Yep, that's uh. That is standing on top of one
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: of the taller buildings, uh in Charleston, West Virginia with
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: the mountains the city and the mountains in the background there.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that looks nice.
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: You identify that correctly. That is on top of a building.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Nice, all right, John, And well it is nice talking
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: to you, and uh, hopefully we'll talk next week. But
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: either way, hopefully you get your power back and all
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: that good stuff.
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: All right, Thanks Chris, enjoy talking with you and I'll
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: talk to you soon.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: All right. You take it easy, take care, Yeah, all right.
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: So my quick thought Skull. You know, as a boxing fan,
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: I always want to see competitive fights. So I don't
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: want to I don't like the fight. And a lot
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: of it has to do with he needs to fight Benavitez.
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: But it's not so like dump on Skull. But you know,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: he doesn't have the power, like like John said, lacks
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: the power. You know, he a couple of things. He's
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: got a why he can box on the outside. Let's see,
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: if you know Canelo, at times he'll cut off the
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: ring really well, other times not as much. But it's
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: not like this dude's Arislandi Lara with the footwork. But
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: he's got a he's got a wide stance. He leaves
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: himself wide open and he kind of falls forward where
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: he'll jab in his other Hand's just wild, you know.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: But up close I did notice watch I've seen two
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: or three of his fights that he up close he
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: will put up the high guard. Another thing I mentioned
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: though as far or another thing I see from watching
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: him is like he actually puts himself in trouble near
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: the ropes. He moves a lot, and he he can
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: jab off the move and all that. He's a skilled
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: fighter to an extent, it's just a lack of power.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: And then if you're like helping Canelo cut the ring off,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: if you keep running yourself in the bad spots of
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: the ring, whether it's the corner on the ropes. So
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: I think that's gonna be an issue. I think that's
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: gonna be an issue Barbosa, you know, I think his
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: style is a little tricky for Tia Femo. You know,
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: he has the outside boxing ability blended with volume punches, right,
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: and as we know, tayl likes it when a fighter
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: comes to him, he can really show a lot of
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: his skills. But when he has to go hunt somebody
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: down that can counter punch, that can move pretty well
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: on the outside, that has pretty good defense, that has volume,
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: it could get a little weird. Now, I think Tayo
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: Fio is gonna win the fight. I that's I have.
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: I have one bet down so far, honestly speaking, and
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: that is by decision Tail Fema Lopez f A. You know,
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: I think the jab and the one two with the
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: lateral movement, it just needs to be consistent. You can
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: fight at range, you can use that lateral movement. But
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: like John was saying, don't try to box too much.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: Use the jab, you got it, but throw the throw
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: the other stuff with it, and you might as well
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: because but Koli he's got this weird accurate punch where
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: he can even kind of adjust it while he's throwing it.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: And that's what we saw in that. You know, Jared
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Anderson fight where he'll and when he does hit you,
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: you stay hit. You know, to use an old term
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: you do stay hit. I'm gonna put some money on
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: fa but I think Bacoley, given he's an even like
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: above average shape, not tip top. I think he'll win,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: but I think it's worth putting money down on it,
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: like you know, like he said, like John said, and
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: then Mungia, I think you'll get over it. But I
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: am interested to see him. Also, body of jack, what
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: does he have left? I'm gonna pick him as a
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: slight underdog. I actually I forgot I have him as
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: a plus one thirty. I do have that, bet I
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: forgot to mention that. But I think he'll win. But
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: that's gonna be a good fight. That's actually closer match
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: technically then the the other fight we're talking about tale
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Fema Lopez at Barbosa. Is Barbo's worth putting something on
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: if you can. The highest I see on Caesar's is
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: plus one ninety five, see a lot of plus one
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: eighty plus Ofanduel has plus one ninety four. You know
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: it's okay. I do think it's tricky for him. The
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: Taylo may not look great in this fight. Ryan Garcia
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Roi Rollie probably will do something decent like land some punches,
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: but he's gonna get knocked out by Ryan Garcia left hook.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Obviously Devin Hany's jab. When it comes to Ramirez fight,
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: I think the jab is gonna win him the fight.
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: To reach the jab the way he can keep people
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: off of him. But there is the early part of
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: that fight, maybe the whole first part. What John and
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: some others have said is he can rush you with
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: the jab to Ramiro and he can land a left hook.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: You know. The thing about Haini is he does get
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: punched with similar or exactly saying punches, and that happened,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: go back to that Lenaries fight. That's to me, that's
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: a little troubling if you keep getting It's one thing
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: to get hit by the jab, right if you're orthodox,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: it's gonna be a left jab. You know, That's just
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: that's different. But there is something to be said about it.
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: And Ramiro's is pretty good on the inside, so now
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: not great as we saw in the Tailor fight. Taylor
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: was much better on the inside than him. But then
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: it's not like Devin's right on the inside. I guess,
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: so I guess there is that flashback from a year
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: ago thing. It's actually a little over a year ago.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: Isn't it a little flashback on that to where if
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: he finds himself in a little trouble or if he
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: did get dropped, could there be some mental thing going on?
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: Little mental block maybe? But I just think the jab,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: the handspeed. For the most part, I think Ramirez is
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: maybe not as custom made as as Roly as for
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: for Ryan, but I do think he to an extent
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: is the styles built pretty good for him to be
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: able to keep him off them with that that really
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: great job. And when he does blend the left hook
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: or go to the body or just throw two punch combo,
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: maybe even the three punch combos sometimes kind of like
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: what he was doing against Cambo's's different fight though obviously,
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: especially in the second one. I just think Devin's just
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: gonna keep in that range enough and he's you know,
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: the clinch is gonna come in handy. Let's put it
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: that way. Let's see here, uh And McKenna I did
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: kind of not talk about that. He it was one sided.
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: There really wasn't many rounds you give him. Let's see
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: where McKenna goes from here. Now, the Fandora thing, he
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: dropped the WBO, they couldn't come to terms he's gonna
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: fight Tim Zoo. According to Coppinger, I think it's cop.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan of cop, but this is
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: where I saw it first. That according to him, he
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: said that there's some so the rematch set for the summer.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: Keith Thurman Zoo was playing for Australia before Zoo exercises.
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: Remot rematch closet could be triggered before and after Fandora's
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: first titled the Ouch first title defence. Thurman lands shot
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: at a winner at the winner, That's what he tweeted.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: So you know, I like that fight, you know, I
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: do like that fight. I think it's a great fight
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: tim Zu. And and I think tim Zu he triggered it,
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: you know, for from Doris. So why not you know,
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: I don't have a problem with the fight whatsoever. And
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: so it's gonna be a good fight. Now it's gonna
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: be on pay per view. From the sounds of it,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: they better hook up the under cart and you know,
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: will Thurman be on the under car where they try
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: to get him a fight and then do it that way?
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: But I did see, you know, for instance, uh Seanztzel right,
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: he said lame was looking for to Zias fight big time.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: I thought PBC Top Rank were seriously or serious about
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: working together. Uh, Tim was set to face Thurman and
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: all that build up for what feels like a move
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: just to avoid making the ziaz fight a fight. A
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: lot of people believe Fandora wins. Well, Tim Zoo sounds
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: like he's the one who did it, So wouldn't that
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: haven't nothing to do with Fondora about as far as
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: you know, because that's a contract that's not hooked to
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: a belt. This is a contract that he has a
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: rematch clause too, So like it just feels like a
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: move to avoid the Zaias fight. Eh, I don't know,
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know about that one. I
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: don't think he's duck on him either, because I had
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: Fandora beating Zias and honestly, I think I personally think
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: still even though you know he had a rough spot,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: there no doubt I still think that. You know, I
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: like Tim Zuo over sanders Aias too. I like zion Is,
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: But whatever it is, what it is. Honestly, the guy
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: he's fighting coming off a nice win, like that's not
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: a bad fight for him in my opinion. Now, is
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: you know, is it a great fight? No, But I
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: mean he's in the top ten, so it's it's still
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: a top ten fight. So that's not a bad fight
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: that he'd get. You know, it's not a bad fight
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: that Xander's gonna get. So to me, that's no big deal.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: Or hey, what was it a Jorge Garcia Perez, the
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: guy who just won over Conwell, so he really he
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: really messed that up. Anyway, Let's go over some more
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: fight news a little bit, a little bit. Chavez is inactive. Well,
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: we'll go boxing Twitter in fight news, Chavez is inactive.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: Chavez has just left rehab, has lost to Silva. He's
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: thirty nine, perfect opponent for J. Paul. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I gotcha.
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: I also got a message about someone saying that I
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: was hyping up the Manny backy out being on Amazon.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: I wasn't hyping it up. I've always said that I
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: wish Manny would just walk away. We saw him against
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: MUGAs not look good. Didn't we see him in that
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: exhibition not look good too. He needs to give it up.
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: But this is the sport and Brios he'd be sating,
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: you know, why not take that fight. If he wins
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: that fight, he probably could get a Spence fight. So
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: I don't mind it. The key thing that I was highlighting,
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: as long as it stays that way, is that it
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: was going to be on Amazon, straight up, no pay
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: per view. So if Amazon's getting behind it because they
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: think they have a name to sell, now that name.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: I even said it when I talked about it, The
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: name is not the name it was even when he
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: fought Furman. It's just not or Ugos. You know, It's
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: just not he was supposed to fight Spence. It's not
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: the same name. It's clearly not the same the further
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: you go back, it was bigger. So but it's still
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: a name. It's still a name, and there if they
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: get behind it and build a nice card around it,
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: it does make sense, especially for Barrios and also for
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: the undercard and fighters, right and who knows, maybe there's
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: a great undercard fight and they put it on free
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Amazon the rematch or at headlines something, or maybe it
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: does a good enough number where they think, you know what,
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: let's I don't think they'd ever put Spence and Barrios
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: on free unless that did a crazy number in Barrios,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: you know, won the fight cleanly or something. Then may
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: you know whatever gets Amazon to do something just on
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: their platform and not a pay per view. Maybe I
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: shouldn't say whatever, but you know what I mean, Like
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: it's that's why I was okay with the potential that
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: Netflix was gonna have Jake Baum Kanelo on it, And
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: that's why I'm really excited potentially that Netflix might have
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: Canelo and Crawford on it. That would be insane, that
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: would be phenomenal for boxing. Well, Chris w here, Chris
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: rob Will boxing seen denied credentials for Saudi in the ring.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: That's just fucking sinator. If the sinister, if the rest
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: of the journalists had any backbone, they'd stand up for him. Yeah,
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: I mean sinister. I don't know about that obviously boxing
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: scene that the owner of that had an issue or
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: has a little bit of an issue, I should say
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: with with Turkey, not to say he's got an individual
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: a bunch of issues with him, but you know, they
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: had that little spat online or whatever, and I always
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: think it's bullshit as long as like a reporter didn't
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: go way out of hand and make it about him
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: rather than covering the sport him or her making about
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: the sport and just making about themselves instead. And they
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: did some wild crazy shit or said something at a
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: press conference that's just like, dude, what you know, or
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: some racist shit or something like that. Other than that, like,
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: I don't think you should be banned from it for
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: the most part, I really don't. I did. I did,
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: like brunch Boxing talking about that Brian Norman. They had
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: already reported that Brian Norman fight, and Dan Rafael came
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: over and gave him a bunch of shit, saying that
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: it's far from it's just the language you use in
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: your in your tweet, it's it's it's ridiculous and all
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: this stupid shit because you know, the old media is
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: starting to get a little they're shaking in their boots
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: a little bit from the up and comers and especially
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: on Twitter. Fight came together, agreed to and got signed
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: in record time. I guess was the brunch boxing account.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: It's just like, come on, dude, like damn, just shut
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: the fuck up. Please. Here's Adam from sn boxing. He
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: said he was tweeting at his own imagine that people
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: wanted to buy the pay per view and it's not
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: available on the app. Then imagine you publicize this pay
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: per view one million times in the last two weeks
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: and don't even tell people the steps the need to
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: buy this, and what world does that make sense? I mean,
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: you know, and I did see other people with the
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: same problem. Now I didn't have that problem. I will
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: say that I got a question, is you bang been
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: the fight of the year? I don't think it's the
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: fight of the year, but it's up there. I mean,
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: I think benavide Is and Morel was better. I think
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: the Pitbull Fierro fight to rog Like, there's better fights.
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: There's better fights. There's definitely better fights. So that's just
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: my personal opinion. Oh here's someone sent me this message
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: from a screenshot that took from just a dude who's
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: whatever just anti PBC to be that British boxing is
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: on a whole other league than American boxing. That's kind
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: of what this dude's actually from here.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: Ice.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: I think ux boxing can't even come close to the
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: type of crowd and this isn't even for a title.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: Like I said, you know, boxing a lot of times
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: can be the second biggest sport in the UK. It
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: doesn't have the same competition as it does here. We
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: know you would both of us had football football football, right,
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: but then what's the second in the third and the fourth,
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: and then the entertainment and all sorts of shit. So yeah,
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: but I mean that's your first thing. Like you're acting
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: like we haven't had stadium fights at all though, Like
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: I would just be appreciative of what I got over there.
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: It's a great thing. And I'm like I said, I
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: let it with with this this thing because it's like
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: I'm happy that the you know, as an American fan,
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: I'm happy the UK is getting these stadium fights, just
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: like I want most of those fights that can sell here,
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: you know, to be here, not in Saudi. Some of
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: them in Saudi. Sure, you know, we know both BiVO
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: and a Turby. If that fight wasn't gonna get made,
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: there wasn't money in the fight. Cool, send it wherever
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: the fuck you want. You can send it to Pluto,
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: you know whatever. I have heard, well, Tyson Fury's talking
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: about a fight with Anthony Joshua and that would be great,
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: especially if it was here, you know, or not here,
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: but in the UK. I did see Keith Idac say
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: the contract to Catchwaight for Devin Haney and Jose Ramirez
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: fight Friday night. Times Square is one hundred and forty four.
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: There was initially some confusion because the first bout agreement
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: received Ramirez received list of this as at one forty seven.
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: They clarified the true weight limit soon thereafter, so that
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: is something to think about. I don't think it's gonna
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: affect either guy too much. The same dude who talked
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: about that, you know, the US going to do this
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: is Ryan the the future face of boxing meeting Ryan Arcia.
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: I don't think so. I saw this from Teams Sports
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: on the brunch boxing. The credit went the TMZ, but
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: I saw him a brunch boxing shots out to Madden Everybody.
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Ezra and manham Waite prospect Floyd Diaz was arrested in
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: Vegas uncharges the possession of a stolen vehicle carrying a
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: concealed weapon without a permit. Ouch uh suck Canelo. Canelo
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: said he said that Skull is a great fighter, but
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: he don't want to fight Bena Vetez. I guess he's
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: not great enough for him. Canelo also said that he
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: would love the opportunity to revenge his loss against Floyd
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: maywe her. Obviously we know it's not gonna happen, but yes,
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: I would love to get rid of that little thorn.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: I'm sure he would. I'm sure he would. What else
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: we got here, Yeah, the whole like Fundora of course,
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: that the the usual suspects we're talking about. Well not at all. Actually,
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: there was a couple of people that I was a
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: little surprised that they called from door Duncan Xander Zaiaz
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: when he was when he's already got a fight lined
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: up with tim Zu. So I know tim Zu got
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: knocked out, but like, you know, I don't see Zaia
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: is knocking out tim Zu. So if you're gonna if
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: he just didn't do anything and it just didn't fight,
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: you know, or fought way lesser opponent, yeah, then I
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: would be like, what the fuck, dude, But he he's
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: fighting tim Zu. So I don't really think you know,
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: Ziaz Orge Gars see his Perez, that's two bottom of
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: the top ten, like from six to ten. That that's fine,
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: that's a good fight for them. I mean, I'm not
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: you know, I'm not like hyping it up. That's a
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: great fight, but it's not. I don't know I just
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: don't see it as a duck if he didn't have
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: a backup plan, or if you know, if it was
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: Spence or something like Tim Zuo. You know, it's Tim
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: Zoo or Spence or somebody solid, even though we don't
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: know what's left to Spence, but that would be a
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: money fight. And plus we also don't know the negotiations,
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: you know, what were they what were they expecting? But
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: then you could say, well, like you just win the
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: purse bit, but when they would they have to overpay
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: just to win the piss purse bid, So we don't
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: know how the negotiations went either. And then we hear about,
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: you know, the before and after after the first defense
- 2:01:31Speaker 1: fandor just had that you know that he Tim Zuo
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: exercised the clause, So how can you duck when it's
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: exercise the clause? Paul Magno said, just overheard another conversation
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: down here in Mexico wondering why Canelos not fighting on
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: sync of a mile. It's not a good sign. It's
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: not a good sign. Okay, I think I'm gonna shut
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: this puppy down. Enjoy the fights. We'll be back next week.
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: I'll try to make it on a Tuesday
