Bird flu reports surge after H5N1 detection
The Ministry of Primary Industries received 157 notifications of dead or unwell birds on Saturday alone, after bird flu was detected in two wild birds last week. There have been no new confirmed cases of the highly contagious H5N1 strain. Mary van Andel, chief veterinary officer at MPI spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
