- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and I've got Luna with me today. Luna: Hi everyone! I'm so ready to learn some new Spanish. We've been talking about the park a lot lately, so this is a nice change. Lucas: It is. Today we're going to the post office. Not the park, not the playground, not the roundabout. The post office. Luna: Oh, that's practical. I actually need to send a letter to my friend in another country, so this is perfect timing. Lucas: Well then, let's get right into it. Our first phrase is: Necesito enviar una carta. Luna: Necesito enviar una carta. Hmm, that sounds like... I need to send a letter? Lucas: Exactly. Necesito means 'I need', enviar is 'to send', and una carta is 'a letter'. So, Necesito enviar una carta. Let's try it together. Luna: Necesito enviar una carta. Lucas: Perfect. Now, when you go to the post office, you might need a stamp, right? That's un sello. Can you say that? Luna: Un sello. That's easy. Like a stamp for a letter. Lucas: Right. And if you need more than one stamp, you'd say: Necesito comprar sellos. Luna: Necesito comprar sellos. So that's 'I need to buy stamps'. I like that it's simple. Lucas: You got it. Let's do a quick scene. You walk up to the counter and say, 'Necesito enviar una carta.' And the clerk asks, '¿Necesita un sello?' Luna: And I say, 'Sí, necesito comprar sellos.' Perfect. Lucas: Now, what if you have a package? That's un paquete. And you want to send it: Quiero enviar este paquete. Luna: Quiero enviar este paquete. So 'I want to send this package'. That's useful. Lucas: Absolutely. And of course, you'd want to know the cost: ¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto? That's 'How much does it cost to send this?' I think I've heard cuánto before. Lucas: You have, in the hotel episode and the bakery. So it's familiar. Let's practice all five phrases. Repeat after me: Necesito enviar una carta. Luna: Necesito enviar una carta. Lucas: Un sello. Luna: Un sello. Lucas: Necesito comprar sellos. Luna: Necesito comprar sellos. Lucas: Quiero enviar este paquete. Luna: Quiero enviar este paquete. Lucas: And ¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto? Lucas: Great job. Now let's put it all together in a little story. You're at the post office. You say, 'Buenos días. Necesito enviar una carta y un paquete.' Luna: Oh, that's a lot. Let me try: Buenos días. Necesito enviar una carta y un paquete. Lucas: Nice. And then you ask, '¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto?' And you might add, 'Necesito comprar sellos para la carta.' Luna: So I can say all that? That's impressive. I think I can do it, but let me try slowly. Lucas: Sure, take your time. There's no rush. Luna: Necesito comprar sellos para la carta. Lucas: Perfect. You're a natural. Now, let's do a quick practice. I'll be the post office worker, and you be you. I'll ask, '¿Qué necesita?' Luna: Necesito enviar una carta y un paquete. ¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto? Lucas: Excellent. And then you'd say, 'Necesito comprar sellos, por favor.' Luna: Necesito comprar sellos, por favor. Lucas: That's it. You've got all five phrases down. Before we wrap up, I want to mention something. Luna: Quiero enviar este paquete. Lucas: How much does it cost to send this? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta enviar esto? Lucas: Perfect. You did amazing today.
