- 0:03Speaker 1: Did you come to the classes at all?
- 0:10Speaker 2: No, I just showed up for this. I've been here
- 0:13Speaker 2: the last couple weekends doing shows and stuff. Oh, really?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's nice. So you're already in with the club
- 0:20Speaker 1: and everything like that.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I guess so. I hosted last weekend here. It's kind
- 0:24Speaker 2: of a last minute thing. And then the week before
- 0:27Speaker 2: that I featured for somebody for one night like a
- 0:30Speaker 2: thursday night show so.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Oh nice so it's like like oh that's that's dope.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah before when this was a we're not recording now
- 0:37Speaker 2: are we.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah yeah oh all right i'll just let it go
- 0:40Speaker 1: because it's like well because usually what happens is uh
- 0:42Speaker 1: we have the um i'll put the post and put
- 0:45Speaker 1: it in post like the music and the card but
- 0:47Speaker 1: and on top of that since i have no engineer
- 0:49Speaker 1: this is all technical talk so we might might i'll
- 0:51Speaker 1: cut like right here then probably but yeah um i
- 0:54Speaker 1: have no engineer right now um so i just put
- 0:57Speaker 1: it on auto edit so it'll just shuffle Okay. And, um,
- 1:00Speaker 1: so it's like, I'll just figure out when to, like,
- 1:02Speaker 1: drop in and whatever, whatnot.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, when this was a different club, I headlined this
- 1:07Speaker 2: room a couple nights. That was cool. I like, this
- 1:12Speaker 2: space is cool.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I like it, yeah. It is a really cool space. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude,
- 1:16Speaker 1: I love the, um, I love the half circle, and
- 1:19Speaker 1: I also like the professor style, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And it's like, yeah, it's fun. It's, uh, because laughter also,
- 1:25Speaker 1: it goes up, so it rises.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah. I, uh, We were talking about Star Wars,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and I always joke that it looks like the Galactic Senate,
- 1:33Speaker 2: where they have all the aliens and stuff.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Was that Phantom Menace?
- 1:37Speaker 2: Phantom Menace, I think. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I haven't seen
- 1:39Speaker 2: those movies in forever. Oh, yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 1: No, same here. It's been a while. You said you
- 1:43Speaker 1: didn't see the new ones. I've only watched the new
- 1:45Speaker 1: ones once, and that's it.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I liked the new ones until they... I liked it
- 1:48Speaker 2: when they didn't have the old characters in it, and
- 1:51Speaker 2: then once they brought the old characters, I'm like... Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 2: I thought it was cool to have like a new
- 1:55Speaker 2: adventure in the world or whatever.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah. And then, well, the new one just kind of
- 2:01Speaker 1: like bombed.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I've heard. I haven't seen that one.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's so funny. They made like $ 200 million or something
- 2:06Speaker 1: like that.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Like it bombed.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And I was like, are you kidding?
- 2:08Speaker 2: I think it's just like the nerds who are really
- 2:10Speaker 2: into Star Wars didn't like that. So that means it bombed,
- 2:12Speaker 2: I guess.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, I haven't seen it yet. But
- 2:16Speaker 1: I was like, I'm going to give it a shot.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And then they hated the other one, Solo. Solo.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 1: They were like, hey, after Solo came out, they were like, okay,
- 2:25Speaker 1: maybe we're not going to push these out as much. Yeah, right, yeah, yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But now they're ramping it up. And I guess Ryan
- 2:29Speaker 1: Gosling is going to be in the next one coming out.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, he's supposed to be doing some other, it's like
- 2:34Speaker 2: something about, he's like a pilot or something like that
- 2:36Speaker 2: I read. I don't remember exactly, but maybe he'll be good.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 2:40Speaker 2: I mean, the one that just came out with the
- 2:43Speaker 2: Baby Yoda one, have you seen that?
- 2:45Speaker 1: The Mandalorian, yeah, the one that just came out. You
- 2:47Speaker 1: saw it? I haven't seen it yet. I do want
- 2:48Speaker 1: to see that.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't seen it either. I've heard mixed things
- 2:51Speaker 2: about that too.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I haven't been in the theater in a minute,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but that's the crazy thing because that's not even in
- 2:57Speaker 1: the order of what I want to see because everyone's
- 3:00Speaker 1: been talking about the obsession. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I
- 3:02Speaker 1: haven't seen that yet, but I hear it's really good.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I am a coward, so I'm not a big horror guy.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know what's funny is I don't like scary movies
- 3:11Speaker 1: either because life is already stressful enough.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah, right, exactly.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Why go to a place and get stressed out even more?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah, scary movies, roller coasters, I'm cool. I'm good on that.
- 3:24Speaker 1: That's funny, roller coasters. Yeah. You know what's funny, too?
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, roller coasters are not... When I was
- 3:30Speaker 1: a kid, it was like, oh, that sounds fun. And
- 3:31Speaker 1: now as an adult, I'm like, I'm good. Yeah, right.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You've experienced it. I've been on a couple. I know
- 3:36Speaker 2: what it is.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I don't need to be upside down right now.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Was it made for that?
- 3:41Speaker 2: No, it's not great. And then I just see, like,
- 3:43Speaker 2: pictures of people getting stuck on them for, like, hours
- 3:45Speaker 2: at a time. I'm like, I'm good, man.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I don't... I've been in traffic this morning. Yeah, right.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I... I know there's only high schoolers
- 3:54Speaker 2: running this thing, so I'm good. That's a great point.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, right? Yeah. I didn't even think about that. Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 1: There's fools that haven't even passed the grade yet over
- 4:03Speaker 1: there pressing the button.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Fuck out of here.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It's like the same crew that works at McDonald's is
- 4:08Speaker 2: working on this giant machine that puts you upside down
- 4:11Speaker 2: at 90 miles an hour. I'm straight.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think I've ever. You know what's funny
- 4:16Speaker 1: is you're talking about roller coasters and stuff like that.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I went to Disneyland for the first time at like 32,
- 4:21Speaker 1: way back. Back when I was 32. Because I had
- 4:24Speaker 1: never been. And I was like, yeah, let's go do that.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Me and my brother were like, all right, we're old enough.
- 4:29Speaker 1: We can take ourselves. Let's go check it out. And
- 4:31Speaker 1: you can drink in there. Yeah, right. All right, cool.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And so we went. And I was like, yeah, man,
- 4:34Speaker 1: this place sucks. I don't want to do any of
- 4:37Speaker 1: this shit.
- 4:39Speaker 2: There is a surprising number of adults, though, that love it.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Hanging out there.
- 4:43Speaker 1: What I just said right now could get me killed.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, right. People are filming OnlyFans videos in there and
- 4:49Speaker 2: stuff like that.
- 4:49Speaker 1: What the fuck you say? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then
- 4:52Speaker 1: there's a group. I guess it's called 33s or something
- 4:56Speaker 1: like that. It's a special group. Where you got to
- 5:03Speaker 1: pay such amount to get into this club where you get... There's, like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: all these, like, secret things.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I've heard about that. It's, like, a VIP kind of
- 5:09Speaker 2: thing where, yeah, they get, like, a special, like, lounge
- 5:12Speaker 2: or area that is not... Like, and you got to...
- 5:14Speaker 2: I think you got to pay, like, thousands of dollars
- 5:16Speaker 2: for that.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's expensive, man.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And you're not supposed to talk. It's, like, Fight Club shit.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And I guess, like, I seen a TikTok recently where, like,
- 5:23Speaker 1: this couple... was selling their guest passes for it.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Right, yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And then they were like, hey, you can't do that.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And you're also telling secrets, so you're out.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, shit.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And now they're trying to sue to get back in. Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 1: There's other shit. I'm like, that's crazy.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Just to get in a theme park, man. It's crazy, yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Just to go pay $ 35 for a Pepsi. Yeah, right?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Exactly. I wish I had that kind of money. That
- 5:46Speaker 2: would be nice.
- 5:47Speaker 1: No, that's so funny that you're like, I'm good with
- 5:50Speaker 1: the scary movies. But I... I want to check it
- 5:52Speaker 1: out because, like, I guess it was, like, made on
- 5:55Speaker 1: such a small budget.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I've heard it's doing really well, yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's, like, millions and millions and stuff like that.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That's, like, the thing now is, like, that Back Rooms
- 6:01Speaker 2: movie did the same thing, I think.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Because that's just, like, a YouTube guy that made that. Yeah, he's, like, 19.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 2: He's a kid. And that, I think it was made
- 6:09Speaker 2: relatively cheap, and now it's, like, kicking ass.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Did you.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Did you ever want to do, because you're in comedy
- 6:18Speaker 1: and entertainment, is that something that you're inspired to do
- 6:20Speaker 1: as an actor or be on screen?
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that would be cool. I was in
- 6:27Speaker 2: a short film here a couple years ago that was
- 6:30Speaker 2: in a contest and did well. And I liked that
- 6:33Speaker 2: a lot. There used to be a bigger acting or
- 6:37Speaker 2: a bigger film industry here about maybe 10 years ago.
- 6:41Speaker 2: We used to have all the tax credits and stuff.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Like the Superman Man of Steel movie. A lot of
- 6:48Speaker 2: that was filmed here. But then they took all that away.
- 6:52Speaker 2: But there's still a pretty good industry here for that
- 6:55Speaker 2: kind of thing, like commercial acting and stuff. That would
- 6:57Speaker 2: be a lot of fun, yeah, for sure.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Do you have a dream role?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Not really. I mean, as a child it would have
- 7:05Speaker 2: been Batman, but I don't think that's happening for me.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I could maybe pull off Wolverine, maybe that.
- 7:11Speaker 1: What did you think about the latest Batman movie?
- 7:14Speaker 2: I liked it. I thought it was too similar to
- 7:18Speaker 2: the Christopher Nolan Batmans. I would have liked to see
- 7:20Speaker 2: a little different.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:22Speaker 2: More in line with the... Because I like the new
- 7:24Speaker 2: Superman movie. I like that a lot.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Okay, there was more of a funner take.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, colorful and fun. I thought if you want to
- 7:34Speaker 2: do something right after... Because the Christopher Nolan Batmans I
- 7:36Speaker 2: thought were really good.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I think if you're going to do something... A new...
- 7:40Speaker 2: you should do like something completely different than that. And
- 7:42Speaker 2: I thought it was a little too similar to that,
- 7:44Speaker 2: but I still like, I mean, uh, Robert Pattinson, I
- 7:47Speaker 2: thought was pretty good as Batman. And, uh, it was
- 7:49Speaker 2: a good, I liked the movie, but yeah, I was just.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Like, I remember as we're talking, I was like, I go,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I just see too many other movies in this movie
- 7:56Speaker 1: for me. Yeah. Right.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Like, what do you mean? I go, excuse me. I
- 7:59Speaker 1: was like, everything that you're saying is cool. I can
- 8:01Speaker 1: tell you where it came from. Right.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It's great to play homage to something. Like after a while,
- 8:05Speaker 1: it's like, Hey dude.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Right. Like, I guess like how they would get upset at, um, like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: the Simpsons writers would get upset at Family Guy. Like,
- 8:13Speaker 1: all the animators don't like Family Guy because they just,
- 8:15Speaker 1: it's like, dude, you're a 30-minute, or you're a 20-minute cartoon, and, like,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you know, 17 minutes of it is other material from
- 8:21Speaker 1: other places you're just animating.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Crazy. But, yeah, no, and then, but, like, so since
- 8:27Speaker 1: you're in entertainment and comedy and stuff like that, like,
- 8:29Speaker 1: when did you, when did funny find you, or when
- 8:31Speaker 1: did you find funny?
- 8:33Speaker 2: I started about 13 years ago, I guess. Nice. I mean, like, Funny,
- 8:41Speaker 2: like being funny has always kind of been like important
- 8:43Speaker 2: in like my, I knew it was like valued in
- 8:45Speaker 2: my family and stuff. And I've watched standup since I
- 8:47Speaker 2: was a little kid. Uh, I was big into like
- 8:50Speaker 2: premium blend on comedy central, uh, tough crowd. That was
- 8:54Speaker 2: a big show that I really liked. Uh, and then, uh,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I remember, I think it was like, I was about
- 8:59Speaker 2: to turn 25. Uh, and like my, uh, the year
- 9:05Speaker 2: that I was going to turn 25, I had a, uh,
- 9:08Speaker 2: new year's resolution. It's like, before I turn 25, I'm
- 9:10Speaker 2: going to try stand-up once. And I tried it, and
- 9:14Speaker 2: I was like, all right, this is really cool. And
- 9:17Speaker 2: I bombed so bad the first time. I didn't even
- 9:20Speaker 2: do good. I remember I got introduced, and they were like,
- 9:24Speaker 2: this is his first time. Be nice to him. And
- 9:26Speaker 2: then as soon as I grabbed the mic out of
- 9:27Speaker 2: the stand, I hear in the crowd, boo. Like I
- 9:30Speaker 2: didn't even get to say anything.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And then, but like even that, even like bombing and
- 9:35Speaker 2: not doing well, I was like, all right, this is
- 9:37Speaker 2: pretty cool. I like this a lot.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So what made you that thing? Because it's the same here.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I bombed the first time.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:44Speaker 1: But what made you like, I got to do that again?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Because I had the dumb thought that I could just
- 9:52Speaker 2: kind of riff up there.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Okay, same here.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Like I was like, I don't have to be, I
- 9:57Speaker 2: don't have to write out prepared shit. I could just
- 9:59Speaker 2: go up there and.
- 10:00Speaker 1: God given.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And I did one and I got, like I had
- 10:04Speaker 2: one riff that got like a response that I kind
- 10:06Speaker 2: of just came up off the top of my head.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I mean, just the reaction of
- 10:11Speaker 2: the laugh, getting the laugh was like great. And then finally,
- 10:14Speaker 2: I think I took a break for about six months
- 10:16Speaker 2: and at one point, but I got, like, a bunch
- 10:19Speaker 2: of material actually written out. And then when I came back,
- 10:22Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I have, like, five minutes.
- 10:25Speaker 2: That is actual jokes that I've prepared. Not, like, me
- 10:28Speaker 2: just writing a thing down thinking, oh, I'll just talk
- 10:30Speaker 2: about it and I'll figure something out. But, like, yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 2: once I got that first, like, laugh out of, like,
- 10:36Speaker 2: kind of nothing, I was like, oh, this would be awesome. Plus, like,
- 10:40Speaker 2: the idea of, like, I don't know, there's no other
- 10:44Speaker 2: job that I want. Like, I don't want to work
- 10:48Speaker 2: at anything else. I barely want to work at this,
- 10:51Speaker 2: to be honest.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear you.
- 10:53Speaker 2: But the idea, this seems like a very, it's an
- 10:58Speaker 2: easy job compared to anything else, right? So, and no,
- 11:01Speaker 2: you don't have to have an alarm in the morning
- 11:03Speaker 2: if you're doing this, which is like the dream.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the biggest plus.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, don't have an alarm in the morning is kind
- 11:09Speaker 2: of what I'm working towards right.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Now, so. Yeah, like someone asked me, what time do
- 11:14Speaker 1: you wake up? I go, I don't know.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fucking awesome. That's so cool.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It's so funny that you're saying about like the bombing
- 11:22Speaker 1: thing too. And they tell you, because I always tell
- 11:26Speaker 1: people too, like the comics, I was like, hey, don't
- 11:28Speaker 1: ever tell them how long you've been doing it. So
- 11:30Speaker 1: that guy kind of fucked you from the beginning. Because
- 11:33Speaker 1: they don't know you from, people, they like comedy, but
- 11:36Speaker 1: they're not into comedy. So they don't know that you
- 11:38Speaker 1: haven't been doing it for 17 years or for three years.
- 11:41Speaker 2: They also say don't tell them, like, you have a
- 11:43Speaker 2: day job. I think that's a thing that people have
- 11:45Speaker 2: talked about.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And I'm like, I don't– I mean, I have a
- 11:47Speaker 2: day job, so I got to do– I got to
- 11:49Speaker 2: be honest with these folks. This is what I'm doing, guys.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And, like, I get that you want to keep the
- 11:54Speaker 2: illusion of, like, show business and stuff, but you got
- 11:56Speaker 2: to– I'm a regular guy still. Like, I'm a dude. Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He's like, so I'm just going to let you guys
- 12:01Speaker 1: know everything in honesty and all that.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And also, if you are honest with them– they'll they
- 12:06Speaker 2: might give you more money like they like i know
- 12:09Speaker 2: i got buddies who do merch pitches and they're like
- 12:11Speaker 2: i need uh to sell four shirts oh yeah and
- 12:14Speaker 2: that will people will come up to him after as
- 12:17Speaker 2: my buddy brad and he'll uh people will be like
- 12:19Speaker 2: hey have you sold four yet and he'll lie obviously
- 12:23Speaker 2: every time i'll be like nope not yet but it
- 12:26Speaker 2: works it does work yeah i.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Even do it to myself i'm like uh i go
- 12:29Speaker 1: yeah because i just got recently i'm married and i
- 12:31Speaker 1: was like hey man uh Now that I've been married,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I found that rings are expensive. And I go, so
- 12:36Speaker 1: I sell shirts now at the end of the show.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I was like, if you don't buy it because you
- 12:40Speaker 1: don't like the shirt, just buy it for love.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yeah. But now you can do for like the next 15,
- 12:44Speaker 2: 20 years and be like, I just got married. Don't
- 12:47Speaker 2: tell them the real thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no. And then it's also funny, too, because like,
- 12:52Speaker 1: especially with the bombing thing, too, like when I ate shit,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know, I was 16 and a teacher snuck me
- 13:02Speaker 1: into an open mic.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Oh, that's cool.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And he was like, and I ate shit because he
- 13:07Speaker 1: was hella happy that I ate shit too because I was,
- 13:09Speaker 1: the reason why I went to the open mic is
- 13:10Speaker 1: I was disrupting the class.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And he's like, you think you're funny? And I go,
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'm fucking hilarious, bro. And he was like, you think
- 13:16Speaker 1: you could do that at an open mic? I was like,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I killed 32 kids right now. I can do six drunks.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I said, I ate shit. So I went and I
- 13:21Speaker 1: ate shit and he goes, and then I go, hey man,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I want to come back. And he was like, really, why?
- 13:27Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, because I, I figured something out.
- 13:29Speaker 1: He goes, like, because you didn't do well at all.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I go, I know, I know. But I figured something out.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Right, yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And he goes, what'd you figure out? And I go,
- 13:35Speaker 1: because like I said, same thing. I went up with just, like,
- 13:37Speaker 1: I could fucking, God given, I could just, and he goes,
- 13:40Speaker 1: I go, I told him, I go, that in real life,
- 13:44Speaker 1: people are going to laugh for two reasons. I just
- 13:47Speaker 1: realized this, that it's either one. Because they think you're
- 13:50Speaker 1: funny or two to get you to shut the fuck up. Right.
- 13:52Speaker 1: And I just got to figure out which laugh I'm
- 13:54Speaker 1: getting when I'm getting it. Yeah, exactly. And so for
- 13:56Speaker 1: the next week before I had to go back up,
- 13:58Speaker 1: that's all I was doing was just talking to people.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And you can tell when someone's laughing, they're kind of like, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 1: And then you can tell when someone's like, fuck, that's fun.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So I was like, okay, keeping that, keeping this, throwing
- 14:12Speaker 1: that away, stop talking. And then it also helped me
- 14:13Speaker 1: develop more self-awareness. Right. Because that's what I feel like.
- 14:19Speaker 1: kind of lacks in the open mic scene sometimes like
- 14:22Speaker 1: you see an open mic and it's like hey you
- 14:24Speaker 1: know they come off they're like oh that's great and
- 14:26Speaker 1: i was like i don't think you've seen the same.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah you don't know what you look like dude that's
- 14:30Speaker 2: the crazy part to me is like you don't see
- 14:31Speaker 2: the how you look or whatever like you gotta know
- 14:34Speaker 2: like that that's the thing like that's one of the
- 14:36Speaker 2: first kind of jokes you figure out is like make
- 14:38Speaker 2: fun of how you look or like say oh i
- 14:40Speaker 2: know how i look and then if you get that
- 14:43Speaker 2: right that's like a everyone knows, you know, what, what
- 14:46Speaker 2: you're bringing to the table.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Step one.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Like I'm, uh, again, probably shouldn't say this.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm 39.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Yeah. So I talk about, I do not,
- 14:57Speaker 2: I look like a child. So that's, and like, it
- 14:59Speaker 2: gets big laughs. So it works.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I would have never, I would have never guessed. Right.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I was like, right on. Congrats, man. No grain, your goatee.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm jealous. That's, that's what's up, man. But, um, especially
- 15:13Speaker 1: being like I don't know I feel that people that
- 15:14Speaker 1: are in their late 30s and you know 40s it's
- 15:17Speaker 1: that's I feel like that's where that's where you really
- 15:20Speaker 1: hone it in and funny is like you can you
- 15:23Speaker 1: can make anything funny.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Right and I also think like that's you know even
- 15:29Speaker 2: if not comedians that's kind of the time when you're
- 15:31Speaker 2: like the most secure in yourself and stuff like that
- 15:33Speaker 2: so like I don't really care I'm even like if
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'm at the point where silence I don't care about
- 15:39Speaker 2: anymore like I've done it I've dealt with it I've
- 15:42Speaker 2: i the worst bombs i've had uh that's another thing
- 15:46Speaker 2: about like why you start why you keep going after
- 15:50Speaker 2: that bomb is like oh i'm still alive you know
- 15:53Speaker 2: i'm still here this if that's the worst that can
- 15:56Speaker 2: happen i'm i'm fine and i get sometimes paid for
- 15:59Speaker 2: this i don't care like yeah yeah it's.
- 16:01Speaker 1: The best yeah it is it really i was talking
- 16:03Speaker 1: i was saying the same thing earlier um about how
- 16:06Speaker 1: this is the best job. Even when it's on its
- 16:08Speaker 1: bad day, it's still the best job.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Right, yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Because I'm like, I don't have to go and see
- 16:12Speaker 1: Peter's stupid-ass face every Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I don't have to lift a 50-pound bag of something. Yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I get to save my back.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, right, exactly.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I'm going to be one of those 56-year-olds with a
- 16:22Speaker 1: good back.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. That's not bad.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome. And you started here?
- 16:29Speaker 2: In Detroit, yeah. Okay, born and raised?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yes. Okay, right on, right on. Whereabouts from? I'm so
- 16:34Speaker 1: new to this area. This is my first time here. Okay.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And it's pretty dope. Yeah, yeah. I'm so... I was like, oh, shit.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I'm from a suburb of Detroit called Farmgate Hills. It's
- 16:43Speaker 2: about 15 minutes from here.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what's up. Yeah. And then so...
- 16:48Speaker 1: And then you... Wait. So you were telling me the
- 16:50Speaker 1: first time you went up, you said, okay, so you
- 16:52Speaker 1: were like, I'm going to... Resolution, right?
- 16:55Speaker 2: New Year's resolution. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Boom. And then... And then... So you started getting more
- 17:01Speaker 1: and more into the scene because it was a big
- 17:04Speaker 1: scene here at that time.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, kind of. There was a lot of
- 17:08Speaker 2: people who are.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Doing.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I remember. I don't know if you saw the Netflix,
- 17:14Speaker 2: the funniest, funny AF like the.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Oh, the new thing. Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Ron Taylor. He was at the first open mic I
- 17:21Speaker 2: ever went to. OK, OK. He was I think he
- 17:23Speaker 2: might have been hosting the show. But, like, there was
- 17:26Speaker 2: a lot of comics here that were around my age
- 17:29Speaker 2: that I thought were funny guys and that I've gone
- 17:31Speaker 2: on to do pretty decent. Yeah, Josh Adams was around.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Zach Stein, he works at the comedy store right now.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Brad Wenzel. Like, a lot of those guys. So it
- 17:44Speaker 2: was a good scene. And then when I came in,
- 17:48Speaker 2: the people who were around me started doing, like, independent
- 17:51Speaker 2: shows a lot, which weren't... There weren't a lot of
- 17:54Speaker 2: them around, so... There was about like six or eight
- 17:58Speaker 2: of us that started our own showcases and stuff. And
- 18:01Speaker 2: that kind of helped bring up around like a lot
- 18:03Speaker 2: more comics. And it was just like it was a
- 18:06Speaker 2: cool opportunity. I got to give people 20 bucks. You know,
- 18:09Speaker 2: that was nice to do, especially as like a new comic.
- 18:11Speaker 2: It helps to have a thing to give people an
- 18:13Speaker 2: opportunity and stage time. Uh, so yeah, uh, it was,
- 18:17Speaker 2: it was a fun scene. Yeah, it still is. But yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yeah. That's dope, man. Like I, uh, I was like,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I always say to, I always tell people, I was like,
- 18:24Speaker 1: if you want to be a better comic, I was
- 18:25Speaker 1: like produce shows.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I was like, for one, it makes you, it makes
- 18:28Speaker 1: you a better comic. Then it makes your scene better.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And then it's like sharpens the knife and the tools.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Cause like, you know, you don't want to be the
- 18:34Speaker 1: best person in your scene. You want to, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: have a whole bunch of them.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Right. You want people to, who, uh, just like competitiveness
- 18:41Speaker 2: you want to yeah but it's like i.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Don't know because like i got lucky on with my
- 18:45Speaker 1: with because i'm i started in sacramento you know small
- 18:48Speaker 1: in small small cities and stuff like that and you
- 18:50Speaker 1: know san francisco's down the way and and whatever whatnot
- 18:53Speaker 1: but like when i was there um it was uh
- 18:57Speaker 1: uh like uh first of the city is super eclectic
- 19:01Speaker 1: like so it's like You're going to get a hodgepodge
- 19:04Speaker 1: of every kind of like political view and all that
- 19:05Speaker 1: stuff all in like this one city.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Wait, you said what city? I'm sorry.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Sacramento. Okay. And so there were open mics every night
- 19:14Speaker 1: and crowds would be there. So it wasn't just comics
- 19:17Speaker 1: watching comics. And it was competitive, but it was camaraderie competitive.
- 19:23Speaker 1: So it's like we all were like, you know, if
- 19:25Speaker 1: someone got off, they're like, Best set of the night. Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 1: You got the best set of the night, dude. Fuck,
- 19:30Speaker 1: all right, okay, I got to either beat you or
- 19:31Speaker 1: you got the best set still.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Right, yeah.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It's like, okay, cool. And then the great thing about
- 19:34Speaker 1: that was it's like even if you did have the
- 19:36Speaker 1: best set of the night, it's like, dude, but for
- 19:38Speaker 1: real seriously, on this one part, you should stop because
- 19:41Speaker 1: you can have two laughs instead of one. It was
- 19:43Speaker 1: still like helping each other out.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Right, exactly. That's cool. That's always good. And like, yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 2: a lot of healthy conversations. you don't want to and
- 19:51Speaker 2: I do think there's a lot of people that you
- 19:56Speaker 2: when somebody's doing a different thing than you you're like
- 19:58Speaker 2: well I can't do that so I'm not I'm not
- 20:00Speaker 2: like jealous of that you know like a one liner
- 20:03Speaker 2: guy or like I'm not a one liner guy but
- 20:06Speaker 2: I look at one liner guys and I'm like that's
- 20:07Speaker 2: an amazing thing to be able to do And it's
- 20:10Speaker 2: so funny. But like we're doing different genres of comedy.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So I'm not like indirect competition with you. I like you.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Great point. I was talking about this earlier, too, is
- 20:21Speaker 1: like I like like I can't do dark comedy. Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 1: But I appreciate it. Right. And I like that. I
- 20:27Speaker 1: can't do it a little bit because I'm like I
- 20:28Speaker 1: get to be entertained by stand ups in some way still. Right.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 1: After you see how the sausage is made, you're like, oh, fuck.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I know what this guy's doing.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:34Speaker 1: See all the matter. And it's like I could see
- 20:36Speaker 1: all the. The psychological tricks this person is doing to
- 20:39Speaker 1: get over the room. He's not becoming a better there.
- 20:41Speaker 1: He or she is not becoming a better comic. They're
- 20:43Speaker 1: just getting better at figuring out how to get by. Right.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Yeah. And I'm like, yeah, I was like, no, I
- 20:48Speaker 2: was just going to say, yeah, like my the my
- 20:50Speaker 2: the favorite stuff that I have to watch. Like I
- 20:52Speaker 2: like watching is the stuff where I'm like, I can't
- 20:54Speaker 2: do that or I don't, you know, are like, that's not.
- 20:59Speaker 2: something I could, like, I would do or could do
- 21:02Speaker 2: or any, like, whatever's the more different from, like, my style, that's, like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: my favorite shit to actually watch, you know what I mean?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Or even, like, you said, too, like, a healthy competition, too. Like,
- 21:11Speaker 1: if you see a comic and just kind of doing
- 21:12Speaker 1: the same thing you're doing, but then you're like, oh,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I don't do that. Yeah, right. Like, man, I got
- 21:17Speaker 1: to go home and write.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Or I got to figure out how to become a
- 21:19Speaker 1: better version of me, you know, so I can, you know, da-da-da-da.
- 21:23Speaker 1: That was the thing, too. Like, I think that's where
- 21:24Speaker 1: you learn, too, where it's like, You don't want to
- 21:27Speaker 1: be a better version of that comic. You want to
- 21:28Speaker 1: be a better version of the comic that you are.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Right, because really that's the only way to set yourself
- 21:34Speaker 2: apart is be as much yourself as you can because
- 21:36Speaker 2: no one else can do that, obviously. So what else
- 21:39Speaker 2: are you going to... Obviously, you start out, you're copying
- 21:43Speaker 2: a lot of people, right? You're relating your idols. Yeah,
- 21:46Speaker 2: and usually it's the big names or whoever you find
- 21:48Speaker 2: the most funny and stuff.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Your influences.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Right, but then as you get older, do it more
- 21:52Speaker 2: and more, you get comfortable in yourself. You're like, well,
- 21:54Speaker 2: the only thing I can really do to set myself
- 21:56Speaker 2: apart from everybody else, just, you know, be as close
- 21:59Speaker 2: to myself, you know, as possible.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Right.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 1: I was going to say too, you were talking about
- 22:04Speaker 1: how like, uh, next time you want to prepared with,
- 22:07Speaker 1: with stuff, like, do you, is that how you still
- 22:09Speaker 1: do it today? Do you still like, you know, um,
- 22:12Speaker 1: like really prepare and then go up with stuff?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Uh, like I, um, uh, I have like a set list,
- 22:20Speaker 2: I would say, you know, And I've never been one
- 22:23Speaker 2: to actually write out like word for word stuff. I've
- 22:27Speaker 2: never done that. Closest I've had is like bullet points
- 22:30Speaker 2: for like a joke. Like I'll have, this is what
- 22:32Speaker 2: the main thing is and these are the beats I
- 22:34Speaker 2: got to hit kind of thing.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 2: And then once I get that initial structure down, then
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm kind of, now I'm getting comfortable enough to where
- 22:41Speaker 2: I can riff within that thing. Kind of bounce off
- 22:45Speaker 2: the audience. And like, if I know I have a
- 22:47Speaker 2: good punchline, then once I get there, now I can
- 22:51Speaker 2: just go, you know, yeah, you have off of that.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, all right, cool. It's so funny. Cause like
- 22:56Speaker 1: same way, same way. Like, like this is, I have
- 22:58Speaker 1: it on, like there's one set list. Right. And it's like,
- 23:01Speaker 1: You know, they're bullet points. They're like, they're all, what
- 23:03Speaker 1: do you call it? You got the same thing?
- 23:04Speaker 2: I think I got one right there.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. For real.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, like, that's like a newer thing that I just did.
- 23:11Speaker 2: So I have, like, you know, the main topic and
- 23:13Speaker 2: then little points I want to hit.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah, little dashes. It's like, oh, okay.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 1: This is a new set list, too. So it's like,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I'll check. This is like, if I want to check
- 23:20Speaker 1: the time of the old thing. And each one of
- 23:23Speaker 1: those bullet points is like five minutes. Right. Five minutes
- 23:25Speaker 1: of whatever the fuck.
- 23:25Speaker 2: But then I hear about comics who have, like... word-for-word
- 23:30Speaker 2: their sets. And that's impressive to me. Like, I can't
- 23:33Speaker 2: do that. I don't... Yeah. Because, like, a large part
- 23:36Speaker 2: of it is I don't want to sound like I'm
- 23:39Speaker 2: reading a script.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want to tape record it.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, right? And, like, that is a thing I'm a
- 23:44Speaker 2: little struggling with now is that I have, like, a set, like,
- 23:47Speaker 2: that I know is good, but I don't want to
- 23:50Speaker 2: get stuck in that because then I'll just be... I
- 23:54Speaker 2: don't want to be robotic with it, you know what
- 23:55Speaker 2: I mean? I don't want to be just reciting... for me,
- 23:59Speaker 2: I want to keep falling in love with it. Right, yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 1: So sometimes at one night, it might have a different
- 24:05Speaker 1: feel to it because of how my, and it's like, oh,
- 24:08Speaker 1: now I like it again. Yeah. And now that I
- 24:09Speaker 1: like it again, I could add this onto it. Matter
- 24:11Speaker 1: of fact, I can riff more and I found, because
- 24:14Speaker 1: you can always go back to that, well, that's why
- 24:15Speaker 1: with comedy, like the stand-up science of it all, it's like, dude,
- 24:19Speaker 1: it's never really done, but it's so much fun to
- 24:22Speaker 1: see where it mutates into because you become a better
- 24:25Speaker 1: writer or you become more insightful and then that that
- 24:29Speaker 1: one joke that was a dick joke actually doesn't even
- 24:31Speaker 1: turn into– it grows out of– no pun intended. It
- 24:35Speaker 1: grows out of being a dick joke into something actually–
- 24:38Speaker 1: something else. And you're like, oh, as a matter of fact,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I can kill the dick part off because this other
- 24:41Speaker 1: stuff is way better.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah. Or you have a big– it's like
- 24:46Speaker 2: doing a carving out of granite or whatever. You know
- 24:48Speaker 2: what I mean? So you're like chipping away at stuff,
- 24:51Speaker 2: and maybe it starts out as a big, long, two-minute thing,
- 24:54Speaker 2: but then it ends up just being one– one line
- 24:58Speaker 2: in your, a bigger thing, but you found the gold
- 25:01Speaker 2: in all, you mined the gold of the, the one
- 25:04Speaker 2: thought that you had, but then eventually, like, you do
- 25:06Speaker 2: that enough times, you have a big chunk of material
- 25:09Speaker 2: that kind of works.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I'm getting excited talking about, at least, it's all about
- 25:12Speaker 1: your dick jokes, long growing, getting excited, no, but, yeah, yeah, I,
- 25:17Speaker 1: because I, I like, like, once you start talking about the,
- 25:19Speaker 1: the whole, I mean, let alone the process, but then, like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: when you do find those things or when something happens
- 25:26Speaker 1: and that feeling, that rush, it's like, oh, there it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 1: And you're like, oh, so you can keep going back
- 25:31Speaker 1: to the book.
- 25:31Speaker 2: And especially now, when you get something that you are
- 25:35Speaker 2: pretty sure no one else has, that's, like, the hardest
- 25:38Speaker 2: thing now is because so many people are doing it
- 25:40Speaker 2: and putting it out.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 2: So I've almost had to stop watching stand-up.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Because I don't want to, like... Through osmosis. Yeah, like,
- 25:50Speaker 2: accidentally take something or whatever. Like, so, but when you
- 25:55Speaker 2: get a thing that is distinct and original and, like,
- 25:59Speaker 2: no one else can really do it, that's, like, the
- 26:02Speaker 2: best feeling.
- 26:02Speaker 1: It's so funny that you say that, too, because, like,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I stopped listening to comics podcasts.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 1: And like all that stuff. Cause it's like, I don't
- 26:09Speaker 1: want to be influenced. I don't want to have osmosis.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I was like, yo, I already know what, how I
- 26:13Speaker 1: want to be funny or how I like. So I'm
- 26:15Speaker 1: trying to do that.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:16Speaker 1: And then on top of that too, like, let's say
- 26:17Speaker 1: I do hear a small thing and I'm like, well,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I have something like that. Now I'm going to throw
- 26:20Speaker 1: away cause someone else, but it's like, if, if, but
- 26:22Speaker 1: if I don't listen or see, hear that and I
- 26:24Speaker 1: continue on doing mine, it'll, it, it, it will be
- 26:28Speaker 1: worked out and changed to it. It's not even remnants
- 26:31Speaker 1: of that.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Right. And if someone tells me, Hey, somebody else is
- 26:34Speaker 2: doing that, I'll be like, all right, I got to
- 26:35Speaker 2: do something. It's not, I have to believe in myself
- 26:38Speaker 2: enough that I could have something else. I can write
- 26:41Speaker 2: something different. Yeah. Like, all right, then I got to
- 26:44Speaker 2: do figure it out. I can't be too precious with
- 26:46Speaker 2: it where I'm like, no, but this is my thing. Like,
- 26:49Speaker 2: all right, well, if someone else is doing it, I'll
- 26:50Speaker 2: think of something else.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah. But sometimes it's not even like, like, that's the
- 26:54Speaker 1: thing that I feel like people are starting to get
- 26:56Speaker 1: misconstrued is like, um, yeah, it's the same topic, but
- 27:02Speaker 1: it's not the same thing. Like it's, it's two trains
- 27:05Speaker 1: going down the same line and then they all split off.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, everyone's allowed to talk about relationships or dating,
- 27:11Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Or dating or whatever. Getting married.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Having kids. Everyone, because those, especially like, You want to–
- 27:19Speaker 2: there is some level you want to relate to the audience.
- 27:22Speaker 2: And really there's like, what, five things that everyone is doing.
- 27:24Speaker 2: We're all like shitting and jerking off and having sex.
- 27:26Speaker 1: What is there, six chords to every song?
- 27:28Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 2: But you just want to make sure that your take
- 27:33Speaker 2: on it is different or like you got a different
- 27:35Speaker 2: spin on the way that– or even just like the
- 27:39Speaker 2: way you write and structure the joke is different than
- 27:42Speaker 2: other people.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah. You know? Yeah, I like that. I like that
- 27:45Speaker 1: a lot. Oh, that's right. We've got to get to
- 27:47Speaker 1: the questions. All right. So this is the trivia. Boom, boom, boom.
- 27:53Speaker 1: And let me see. Okay, so that was the get-to-know portion,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and this is the good-to-know portion. We'll just do some
- 28:03Speaker 1: trivia really quick just to change it up so it's
- 28:06Speaker 1: not always a comic-on-comic podcast like every fucking thing is now.
- 28:10Speaker 1: So here we go. Let's see. Let's see. Cause we're
- 28:11Speaker 1: going to, we, we, we asked other comics to some
- 28:13Speaker 1: of these, some of these questions. So let's see where you, you,
- 28:16Speaker 1: you add up to, which is so funny. Cause it's like,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I noticed this like lately, like not a lot of comics, like,
- 28:21Speaker 1: like trivia, but we know about so much odd shit.
- 28:24Speaker 1: So it's funny. Like why would, okay. I'm sorry.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Why are they people not doing good in the trivia
- 28:28Speaker 2: so far?
- 28:28Speaker 1: It's like, it's like, yeah, like, uh, three questions, right.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Or four questions, right. Cause it's a plethora of like
- 28:33Speaker 1: a pulpit of over the place.
- 28:34Speaker 2: But, um, I remember, I think if you're, if, especially
- 28:37Speaker 2: if you're new, maybe you are only, you're so focused
- 28:40Speaker 2: on comedy. Cause I remember I was a big sports fan.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And when I started doing comedy, I kind of like,
- 28:46Speaker 2: cause I'm out at night all the time. So I
- 28:47Speaker 2: just kind of stopped watching like games and stuff.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I don't need like, uh, When I first started doing
- 28:53Speaker 1: the open mics, I was like, I don't know anything
- 28:55Speaker 1: about The Office or Lost. Yeah, yeah. I'm actually on.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I'm out at 8 o'clock at night. So, yeah, I'm
- 29:01Speaker 2: not watching that.
- 29:02Speaker 1: So, here we go. So, first question is, what does
- 29:05Speaker 1: the IP in media stand for?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Intellectual property.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Boom. I knew you. I was like, he's going to
- 29:11Speaker 1: definitely know that. Okay. So, Have It Your Way was
- 29:15Speaker 1: a memorable slogan from what fast food restaurant?
- 29:18Speaker 2: Is that Burger King?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:20Speaker 2: All right.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Look at you like a champ. All right. What actor
- 29:24Speaker 1: slash comedian found fame on a TV show titled Mork
- 29:28Speaker 1: and Mindy?
- 29:29Speaker 2: It's Robin Williams.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Boom. What top Robin Williams movies did you have? Are
- 29:35Speaker 1: you even a fan? Yeah, I mean, he's great.
- 29:37Speaker 2: In maybe Aladdin. He's the genie in that.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Dude, yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 2: That was the first one that came to mind. Or,
- 29:45Speaker 2: I mean, he's really good in Good Will Hunting. That's
- 29:48Speaker 2: like the serious, you know.
- 29:49Speaker 1: He won an Oscar for that one.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah, he's great in that movie. That's a good movie.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I like that one. I like Patch Adams and... There's
- 29:57Speaker 1: a movie called What Dreams May Come that he's in.
- 29:59Speaker 1: It's fucking really good.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever seen that, but that's one
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'm like, I should watch that one.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you should check that. Okay, what type of race
- 30:08Speaker 1: is the Tour de France?
- 30:09Speaker 2: It's a bicycle.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Boom, nice. Damn, you're fucking perfect.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I'm already got four, actually.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I'm sorry. It's like when the no-hitter, you don't talk
- 30:17Speaker 1: about it. My dad hit me up the other day
- 30:18Speaker 1: because I'm an A's fan, and there was a no-hitter
- 30:20Speaker 1: going into the ninth inning. My dad texted me, hey,
- 30:23Speaker 1: there's a no-hitter going. I was like, I'm watching it,
- 30:24Speaker 1: and you're not supposed to fucking say it.
- 30:26Speaker 2: They're moving to Vegas, right? Yeah, they're moving to Vegas.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It's funny because they're in Oakland. I had season tickets.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I would go to Oakland all the time, and then
- 30:33Speaker 1: they moved to Sacramento, my hometown, but I'm not there.
- 30:36Speaker 1: But now they're going to move to Vegas.
- 30:37Speaker 2: But they can't call them the Sacramento A's, right? They're
- 30:39Speaker 2: not allowed to do that?
- 30:41Speaker 1: They don't, and they're like now– they kind of are
- 30:44Speaker 1: embracing it because they got a jersey now that says it.
- 30:47Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:50Speaker 1: What fast food chain once used the slogan, think outside
- 30:53Speaker 1: the bun?
- 30:54Speaker 2: Taco Bell.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Nice. Rolling through. What's your favorite fast food chain?
- 31:01Speaker 2: Probably McDonald's.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Probably McDonald's?
- 31:02Speaker 2: I think the thing that McDonald's has over the, is
- 31:05Speaker 2: they're most consistent, right? Because that's like the thing, because
- 31:09Speaker 2: everything's location-based. McDonald's, I feel like, Most of the time
- 31:13Speaker 2: you can get pretty much the same quality. Taste everywhere.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like I'm in Japan and the
- 31:17Speaker 1: chicken nuggets taste like chicken nuggets. Yeah. Yeah. In 1976,
- 31:23Speaker 1: what two college dropouts founded Apple Computer Incorporated?
- 31:27Speaker 2: It was Steve Jobs and was it Steve Wozniak?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Look at it like a champ. What movie character says
- 31:37Speaker 1: to infinity and beyond?
- 31:38Speaker 2: Buzz Lightyear.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Fuck, yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Got it.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Par 5's coming out. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Okay, here's
- 31:46Speaker 1: a curveball. What popular condiment was once said to cure diarrhea?
- 31:53Speaker 2: Is that ketchup?
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:57Speaker 2: All right. How the fuck? I think I just heard
- 32:00Speaker 2: this on another podcast that ketchup was thought of as
- 32:03Speaker 2: medicine like earlier. That's crazy.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:05Speaker 2: That's just a lucky thing.
- 32:07Speaker 1: It's like Slumdog Millionaire over here. Yeah, exactly. Okay, so
- 32:12Speaker 1: which soft drink once contained cocaine?
- 32:15Speaker 2: Coca-Cola.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Of course. Yeah, yeah. And then the last one, you
- 32:21Speaker 1: got all of them correct.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Hell yeah.
- 32:23Speaker 1: So you can wager none. Or you can wager all
- 32:26Speaker 1: of them for the last.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Let's wager them all. Let's do it.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Oh, fuck.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Okay, here we go. The unicorn is the national animal
- 32:35Speaker 1: of what country?
- 32:36Speaker 2: Goddamn.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Ain't that about a bitch? Yeah, fuck.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Oh, shit. I'm going to say it's probably like a
- 32:45Speaker 2: Nordic country.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I'm going to lose this, man.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It's kind of.
- 32:52Speaker 2: All right.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Uh.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Denmark.
- 32:56Speaker 1: No, close, though.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Is it Finland?
- 32:59Speaker 1: I mean, I was going to say, but it's not Nordic,
- 33:01Speaker 1: but it's North, but it's Scotland.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Oh, shit, man. That's bullshit. It's not a real animal.
- 33:07Speaker 2: It's fucked up.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Right? That's so crazy. I'm like, I don't know if
- 33:12Speaker 1: Scotland got cooler or not because of that. Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 2: That's a made-up animal. It's not real.
- 33:17Speaker 1: They're like, we're trying to change our image. But what
- 33:21Speaker 1: do you call it? I was going to say, oh,
- 33:23Speaker 1: tell the people where you're going to be at soon.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Um, I am going to be, uh, at, uh, let me,
- 33:29Speaker 2: can I, you mind if I look at my phone
- 33:31Speaker 2: real quick?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Uh, so, uh, or even where they can find you
- 33:35Speaker 1: to your, your answer.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Find me, uh, on Instagram is the, my
- 33:38Speaker 2: main social media posting thing at Blaine Hill, B-L-A-I-N-H-I-L-L. Uh,
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'm also have a couple of podcasts that I'm on, uh,
- 33:48Speaker 2: big time garbage is, uh, my podcast. And then, I
- 33:52Speaker 2: do a podcast with my buddy Brad Wenzel called The
- 33:55Speaker 2: Moment of Wenz, so check those out.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I will be.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Probably on Spotify and iTunes as well.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Yeah, everywhere you can find those. I'm doing a Don't
- 34:04Speaker 2: Tell on the June 2nd, or sorry, June 12th in
- 34:10Speaker 2: the Detroit area. Then June 25th, that's going to be
- 34:15Speaker 2: a good show for the WT... Sorry, WDET, the local
- 34:22Speaker 2: NPR station here. They do a show at the Old
- 34:25Speaker 2: Miami outside, outdoors. Like 300 people come. It's awesome. So
- 34:29Speaker 2: that'll be June 25th. Check that out. And then June 26th,
- 34:34Speaker 2: I'm at Go Comedy Theater in Ferndale headlining a show there.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Nice. Yeah. Well, thanks for coming out, man.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Thank you for having me. I appreciate it, man.
- 34:41Speaker 1: This was fun.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
