- 0:01Romans chapter 2, let us pray. Our Lord God who reigns on high,
- 0:08we love you. Lord Jesus, we thank you for
- 0:10another day. We thank you for the ability to
- 0:12come and to listen to you and listen to your words.
- 0:16God let them wash over our minds.
- 0:19Lord, clean out all of the junk that we've stored up.
- 0:24Father, I pray against worldliness in the name of Jesus
- 0:28Christ. God, let us consecrate this
- 0:30temple. Let us take all of the false
- 0:34worship and all of the idols that we have allowed in out God
- 0:39into the streets and burn them. Father, in the name of Jesus
- 0:43Christ, burn them out. God in the refiners, fire God,
- 0:46purify us in the name of Jesus. God, let the dross melt off.
- 0:52Lord, I pray that you can see your image in US.
- 0:58God, I pray in the name of Jesus that we can be bond servants,
- 1:02laid down lovers of you, God, yoked up with Jesus Christ going
- 1:07to the ends of the earth. God, I pray God for a
- 1:10supernatural zeal for your house.
- 1:12God, let it eat us up. Lord, I pray for the nation
- 1:16Israel. God, I pray for the Jews.
- 1:18Father, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
- 1:20God, I pray that you will supernaturally protect them,
- 1:25Father, and where we are, God, they will be.
- 1:28And so, Lord, I just pray that as we are moving and having our
- 1:32being, we know that we are here for a divine purpose, Lord, and
- 1:37that you've called us to such a time as this.
- 1:40And let us not shrink back from the ministry that you have given
- 1:43us. Lord, I pray that we'll live on
- 1:46fire for you today. God, I pray that we'll be your
- 1:50hands and feet. Help us to love you more.
- 1:53Help us to love our neighbor, God, as ourselves.
- 1:56Help us to know our worth and our dignity.
- 1:58Help us to know that you're fighting our battles.
- 2:01And God, I just pray as we open your word that you'll teach us
- 2:04your ways. Teach us your paths.
- 2:06Teach us your thoughts. Teach us your mind.
- 2:09God, I pray that you will help us, Lord, to rightly divide the
- 2:13word. Give us peace today.
- 2:14God, I pray that we'll know the truth today.
- 2:18And God, I just pray that we, Lord, will decrease as you
- 2:22increase and that your words will reign supreme throughout
- 2:26all generations. Lord, we're praying 7
- 2:28generations from now to be blessed by our obedience, God,
- 2:33and by what you have placed inside of us.
- 2:36Lord, let us teach others and let us teach our children and
- 2:40teach our neighbors, God, about you, the God of Abraham, Isaac,
- 2:44and Jacob. God, Yahweh from everlasting, we
- 2:48love you, and it's in Jesus Christ, holy and precious name
- 2:51that I pray. Amen.
- 2:56Let's start in verse one. Therefore, you are inexcusable,
- 3:04O man, whosoever you are that judges for wherein you judge
- 3:10another, you condemn yourself for you that judge do the same
- 3:17things. Wow.
- 3:19Paul just came out swinging and basically what he wants us to
- 3:25know is that it is only by the blood of Jesus Christ that we
- 3:30can be justified. And that is just if I'd never
- 3:36done it. And we can stand before a holy
- 3:39God one day, and he's not going to see any of our sins.
- 3:45And what Paul wants us to know is that if we're trying to get
- 3:49there by our own merits and we're looking down the nose at
- 3:53other people, what you need to know is that you have already
- 3:58become self condemned by trying to pretend as if you're better
- 4:03than somebody else because you're judging them by a
- 4:06standard that is God's. And if we're judging by God's
- 4:09standard, we are all guilty as charged.
- 4:13That is, the necessity of the righteousness of Jesus Christ
- 4:17alone. 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according
- 4:24to truth against them which commit such things.
- 4:28Three. And thank you this, O man that
- 4:31judges them, which do such things, and you do the same,
- 4:36that you should escape the judgment of God.
- 4:39You think by saying that I'm a good person and I give away all
- 4:43my money to charity, and I devote so much time to all these
- 4:47humanitarian efforts. You think that when you stand
- 4:51before a holy God that you're going to try to take him to task
- 4:55and tell him how he ought to judge you for or despise you,
- 5:04the riches of his goodness and forbearance and long-suffering,
- 5:09not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance.
- 5:13And that is the whole crux of the whole matter of the whole
- 5:16situation. My friends, God allows you to
- 5:21have one more day, and we don't know if we're going to get
- 5:25tomorrow, and His mercies are new every day.
- 5:29And if you have not come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ
- 5:34as your Lord and your Savior, the fact that you woke up today
- 5:39shows that God's not done with you.
- 5:42But do not blasphemy the Holy Spirit as He calls you unto
- 5:46repentance. It is the goodness of God, the
- 5:49fact that He allowed you to have one more day that gives you the
- 5:54opportunity to come to Him by faith, friends.
- 5:58And we should not think that the fact that we woke up today
- 6:02proves that there is no God and that everything just keeps going
- 6:07on and on as it always has. This moralistic approach has led
- 6:14many off into hell and into their own demise.
- 6:23Friends, it is long-suffering of God.
- 6:27It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance.
- 6:32Is that not your story? That is my story, friends.
- 6:37God didn't give up on me. He kept me through all the
- 6:41trials until I finally hit rock bottom and I had to admit to Him
- 6:49that my way was not working and surrender completely.
- 6:52And fully to him and those that have been forgiven of much love,
- 6:56much. 5 But after your hardness and impenitent heart, you
- 7:04treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and
- 7:08revelation of the righteous judgment of God.
- 7:12One nanosecond after you take your last breath, you're going
- 7:16to regret not putting your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 7:21You're going to be an eternal torment forever and ever where
- 7:25you're begging for a drop of water to touch your tongue.
- 7:28And it'll be a billion deaths over, and you cannot die, and
- 7:33there is no other chance for you beyond that.
- 7:36And people that put off this, giving their lives to the Lord
- 7:41Jesus Christ for a more convenient time, are only
- 7:45heaping up more judgment upon themselves whenever the great
- 7:49white throne comes about and every knee, bowels and every
- 7:53tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord.
- 7:56And it's better to do it on this side than to wait for the next
- 8:04six who will render to every man according to his deeds.
- 8:08So you need to know that you will never make it into heaven
- 8:14by any of your deeds, even those who are trying to work their way
- 8:21into heaven. All of our righteousness is
- 8:24filthy rags. It is only by what Jesus did
- 8:27that we get there, not by what we do.
- 8:31And if you do not put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ before
- 8:35you die, then you will try to give an account that shows God
- 8:41that you were a good person, but it'll never amount to anything
- 8:45but eternal separation and damnation from Him. 7 To them
- 8:53who by patient continuance and well doing seek for glory and
- 8:59honor and immortality, eternal life.
- 9:04That is Our Calling, to patiently endure all the woes of
- 9:09this life and to press forward for the presence of Jesus
- 9:14Christ, which is what we're after more than anything else.
- 9:18We will have eternal life. We'll give him His due honor and
- 9:22glory. Friends, we seek his face.
- 9:26A But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the
- 9:33truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, that is
- 9:39the only outcome of those who refuse to come to the saving
- 9:45knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in their little menial
- 9:48lifetime. And they trade eternity for a
- 9:53mess of pottage. They trade their birthright.
- 9:57They are made in the image of God, and God has placed eternity
- 10:00into their hearts. But they choose this little life
- 10:07instead of receiving eternal life.
- 10:10And it is very sad. Now in tribulation, anguish upon
- 10:20every soul of man that does evil of the Jew 1st and also of the
- 10:25Gentile. So if salvation was come to the
- 10:30Jew first, then also the rewards to the Jew first, then also the
- 10:39damnation to the Jew first for all those that will not place
- 10:44their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 10:46You can see that this is the model of God, that his heart is
- 10:51for the Jews and then the unnatural, which he turns to the
- 10:57Gentile after 11 for there is no respect of persons with God.
- 11:03So he's saying that the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is for
- 11:09all nations, for all people, groups, all tongues, all
- 11:14languages, and it goes out to all continents.
- 11:20And God does not just call the Jews, but he calls all men and
- 11:25women unto repentance, friends. And repentance is a beautiful
- 11:31word, where we return back to the top, where we are with Him,
- 11:36and one with Him, and abiding in him, and Him in US. 12 For as
- 11:44many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law,
- 11:50and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the
- 11:55law. So we can see here that God was
- 11:58well pleased to give His Holy Scriptures to the Jews and to
- 12:03choose Abraham and to entrust the lineage of the Messiah to
- 12:11the Jews. But we can also see here that we
- 12:14are without excuse no matter where we are on planet earth,
- 12:18and we are all in desperate need of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 12:22And this is the gravity of those who have been sent to go and to
- 12:27proclaim the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ to all the
- 12:31continents everywhere. And the Word of God will be
- 12:34preached. The Gospel of the Lord Jesus
- 12:37Christ will be preached everywhere before He comes
- 12:40again. And this is the calling of
- 12:43missionaries to go out, and some are sent and some send, and some
- 12:48are here on the front lines praying.
- 12:50And we need to know, friends, that it is our honor to go and
- 12:55to teach others about what Jesus Christ did.
- 12:59And we can see here that without the law they will perish, and
- 13:03they cannot save themselves. 13 For not the hearers of the law
- 13:12are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be
- 13:17justified. So he's saying just because you
- 13:19are a Jew and you have heard the law, it doesn't mean that you're
- 13:23just automatically going to get to go to heaven because of your
- 13:27lineage to Abraham, which was propagated in the time here that
- 13:34Paul was writing this. And you can see they thought
- 13:36they had the temple of the Lord and they had the law and the
- 13:39prophets and they had their autonomy there in Israel, and
- 13:43they were just going to make it there.
- 13:45And that somehow Abraham stood at the gates of hell making sure
- 13:49that no Israelite had to go. And Paul is refuting that and
- 13:53saying you can't just know the law and not obey it. 14 For when
- 14:06the Gentiles which have not the law do by nature the things
- 14:11contained in the law, these having not the law or a law unto
- 14:17themselves, so they're saying that they are without excuse,
- 14:22that all of creation proclaims his name, and that they will not
- 14:26be able to stand before God and say, I did not know. 15 which
- 14:34show the work of the law written in their hearts, their
- 14:38conscience also bearing witness, their thoughts, the meanwhile
- 14:43accusing or else excusing one another. 16 In the day when God
- 14:50shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my
- 14:55gospel, John 14-6 says, Jesus says, I am the way, the truth,
- 15:01and the life, and no one comes unto the Father except through
- 15:05me. And you can see it here even in
- 15:07the unreached people groups, that they must go through Jesus
- 15:12Christ to make it to God. And this is a divine mystery,
- 15:16and it calls for wisdom. 17 Behold, you are called a Jew,
- 15:23and read and rest in the law, and make your boast of God.
- 15:30He's saying that even though the Jew knows the law, he's
- 15:34condemned by the law that he boasts about.
- 15:38And that is the problem with those who just hear the word of
- 15:44God but do not obey it. You cannot say I own 100 Bibles.
- 15:49You cannot say I've never missed church attendance.
- 15:52You cannot say that you know what the Bible says.
- 15:57You must obey it. Friends 18 and know His will,
- 16:01and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed
- 16:05out of the law, 19 and are confident that you yourself are
- 16:09a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
- 16:13which is the call of the Jews. The Jews were to be the priest
- 16:18and the ministers for the world to point the Gentiles unto God.
- 16:22But instead they made it all about greed and tradition, and
- 16:27they tried to push out the Gentiles.
- 16:29And how many times have you seen when Paul or Peter try to preach
- 16:33that Jesus is for the Gentiles? It's a good way for the Jews to
- 16:37excuse themselves from that meeting.
- 16:40You can see it time and time and time again.
- 16:42And here Paul is letting the Christians at Rome know that it
- 16:47is not enough just to know the word of God, that they must obey
- 16:52it. And it is for not only the Jews,
- 16:55but it is for the Gentiles alike, and they are to be a
- 17:01guide to the blind, and they are to lead those in darkness into
- 17:06the light. 20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes,
- 17:12which has the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
- 17:16He's saying, wake up Jews. You are to be teaching that
- 17:21Jesus is the Messiah, just like I am.
- 17:25When Paul says this, he's talking about himself whenever
- 17:30he was a Pharisee of the Pharisees.
- 17:33But through divine revelation and through the law and the
- 17:35prophets, he saw Jesus as the Messiah.
- 17:38And now he is teaching that and he's unashamed of it.
- 17:41Praise God. Hallelujah. 21 You therefore
- 17:45which teach another teaches you not yourself, and that you
- 17:50preach to a man. You should not steal.
- 17:53Do you steal? So what he is saying here is
- 17:56you've got to practice what you preach.
- 17:58You cannot live hypocrisy and duplicious friends.
- 18:03People are watching and they're tired of hearing about it and
- 18:06they want to see Jesus in you. 22 You that say a man should not
- 18:14commit adultery, do you commit adultery?
- 18:17You that are poor idols, do you commit sacrilege?
- 18:2023 You that make your boast of the law, through breaking the
- 18:25law, you dishonor you God. 24 For the name of God is
- 18:31blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
- 18:37So he's saying that whenever you try to preach one thing but do
- 18:43another, you blasphemy the name of God for those that are close
- 18:49to coming into the fold, but they see your lifestyle and how
- 18:53it doesn't add up and they walk away from God.
- 18:56And you can see here that it is grievous to the Lord whenever we
- 19:01do not practice integrity, when we're saying one thing and doing
- 19:05another. 25 For circumcision truly profits if you keep the
- 19:13law. But if you are a breaker of the
- 19:15law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision.
- 19:19So circumcision was just an outward expression of an inward
- 19:23change, friends, that they were marked as the believers of God
- 19:29and they thought that this circumcision was going to save
- 19:33them. They thought that the temple was
- 19:36going to save him and is no different in our day and our
- 19:38hour when we think that owning a Bible and attending church and
- 19:42getting dunked in water saves us.
- 19:45It is only a relationship with God through his Son, Jesus
- 19:49Christ that saves us. It's by faith, friends. 26
- 19:57Therefore, if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the
- 20:01law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for
- 20:06circumcision? So they circumcised their heart
- 20:10friends, even though they had not circumcised their foreskin,
- 20:14and that proves that they. Belong to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 20:19And that is what was talked about at the council back in
- 20:23Acts whenever they were trying to figure out if the Gentiles
- 20:26needed to go through Moses to get to God.
- 20:29And it was far be it from them to teach that, that they just
- 20:35needed to abstain from meat that was sacrificed to idols, and
- 20:40they needed to abstain from sexual immorality and from
- 20:44strangled meat, and they would be counted as the Lord Jesus
- 20:49Christ through faith, Friends. 27 And shall not uncircumcision,
- 20:58which is by nature, if it fulfill the law, judge you who
- 21:03by the letter and circumcision do transgress the law.
- 21:08So we know that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the law,
- 21:11friends. He did not come to abolish it,
- 21:13but to fulfill it. And by placing our faith in the
- 21:17Lord Jesus Christ, we have become those that are marked by
- 21:23fulfilling the law to the last letter, friends, because of
- 21:27Jesus Christ. And he gives us a new heart and
- 21:32a new mind, and we are pleased to obey him.
- 21:35And if any man is in Christ, he's a new creation, and the old
- 21:38things have passed away. The regenerate mind, friends, it
- 21:42comes in and is washed by the Word.
- 21:45And we're able to obey these laws easily because it's just
- 21:51second nature to the reborn man. 28 For he is not a Jew, which is
- 21:581 outwardly. Neither is that circumcision,
- 22:01which is outward in the flesh. So he's saying you can't just
- 22:06rely on your genealogy to Abraham to make it there.
- 22:10You must come the same way that the Gentiles have to come
- 22:14through Jesus Christ. 29 But he is a Jew, which is 1 inwardly.
- 22:21And circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit, and not in
- 22:26the letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.
- 22:30And that is what we're after, and that is what we press for.
- 22:34And that is what we're obsessed over is the praises of God and
- 22:38not the praises of men. And if you are doing what you're
- 22:42doing because you want some kind of recognition, you've lost your
- 22:47reward. Friends, you can see here that
- 22:52God is not discounting the Jews. He's not dissolving them into
- 22:57the Church as some are in the habit of believing.
- 23:01Friends, He is showing the Jews of their hypocrisy by thinking
- 23:06that it is just by having the law and having circumcision and
- 23:11having the temple and all of their outward expression with no
- 23:18inward change is hypocrisy at its core.
- 23:22And it's no different in our day and our our friends.
- 23:25Whenever we think that we can get there by our own merits and
- 23:29by all of our good behavior and by having these humanitarian
- 23:36efforts, it is not going to amount to anything.
- 23:40Friends, it is only by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that we
- 23:44enter in, and He sees us as sinless.
- 23:49None of our sins will be counted against us.
- 23:52I hope that you are blessed by this amazing chapter here.
- 23:57I know I sure have been many times over.
- 24:04I'm praying for you. I love you, God loves you.
- 24:21Let's get rooted and grounded in the word of God and covered in
- 24:24the blood of the Lord Jesus. Let's go and snatch those out of
- 24:29the fire. Let's tell every single person
- 24:33that we meet today about what God has done for us and how good
- 24:37he is. Let's not be ashamed of God.
- 24:42Let's not be ashamed of this good news.
- 24:49I'm praying for you and I love you.
- 24:51We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 24:54God bless you.
