- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Back.
- 0:14Speaker 1: What's going on? Everybody's Jeff Mosher, it is inside the
- 0:18Speaker 1: Birds And finally we Adam and I can go inside
- 0:22Speaker 1: and give great intel on the Eagles list of undrafted
- 0:24Speaker 1: free agents because they're official, and Adam I like to
- 0:27Speaker 1: always throw it to you. Why do we wait for
- 0:30Speaker 1: them to become official when everybody else starts talking about
- 0:32Speaker 1: him as soon as Twitter says that they've.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Sign because some players back out of agreements with clubs,
- 0:38Speaker 2: and it's happened with Eagles over the years, and we're,
- 0:41Speaker 2: you know what, enough of this stuff. We're not going
- 0:44Speaker 2: to talk about them until they're official, right And when
- 0:47Speaker 2: Eagles do though, when they put them out, that means
- 0:49Speaker 2: they that it's done, like they know they have the player.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Because what happens is it's talking agents over the years
- 0:56Speaker 2: about it. We've to talk about the process is ridiculous.
- 1:02Speaker 2: It's a free for all. Yeah, as you shake your head, Yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 2: if you've watched the Jeff on a YouTube, it's ridiculous.
- 1:09Speaker 2: One agent said they should just do an online draft.
- 1:12Speaker 1: That would be That was such a smart idea. I
- 1:14Speaker 1: really loved that.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I don't know if the agent it's a parliament an agent.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I don't know if you'd want it out there, but
- 1:18Speaker 2: he and I have talked about this several times. You
- 1:22Speaker 2: just do it, you just do it online and people
- 1:24Speaker 2: would watch it. You kidding me, because there's there's a
- 1:26Speaker 2: guy here on this list and we'll get to them later.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's fascinating. He's a long shot to make it as
- 1:31Speaker 2: all on draft of free agents. I no matter what
- 1:33Speaker 2: the fans think on that, because they get crazy over
- 1:36Speaker 2: some guys like, oh, this guy's definitely making it. No,
- 1:38Speaker 2: he's an undrafted free agent for a reason. But right
- 1:41Speaker 2: some of the people like this particular player onto something,
- 1:44Speaker 2: which we'll get you later. But so what happens is
- 1:46Speaker 2: it's a free for all the general managers, not on
- 1:49Speaker 2: every he knows about it, but he's not negotiating or
- 1:52Speaker 2: that every guy. Sometimes the scouts are negotiating it. And
- 1:56Speaker 2: if you're over your allotment of of money, then though
- 2:03Speaker 2: it's out there that the agent said they agree to
- 2:04Speaker 2: a deal, the club sometimes is hey, I'm sorry, we
- 2:06Speaker 2: can't do this, or another club calls that were text
- 2:11Speaker 2: on the other line, Hey don't don't sign with them,
- 2:14Speaker 2: sign with us. We'll we'll, we'll give you a higher guarantee,
- 2:18Speaker 2: guys back out. It's not good business. It's terrible business.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And there have been shouting matches I've heard of. They're awful. Yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 2: some although I always laugh when an agent say, all,
- 2:29Speaker 2: never send a player there again, Yes.
- 2:30Speaker 1: You will, right, I know, Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Of course that's it's whatever club he's dealing with, these pistols.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Right, yeah, yeah, it's only thirty two teams, right, and.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Plus if they give you what you want, you're gonna
- 2:42Speaker 2: you're gonna sign there. So yeah, I laugh with that stuff.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But no, it's not a great process. But uh, the
- 2:47Speaker 2: Eagles only signed eight. It's not that immication of anything.
- 2:51Speaker 2: It's just interesting that that they addressed, of course safeties
- 2:56Speaker 2: because it's so weak they brought to in.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yep, yep, definitely and we'll get all right, so we'll
- 3:03Speaker 1: give you intel on that. I just can't believe in
- 3:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty six that there's not a better, more efficient
- 3:10Speaker 1: process of that. And it's clearly not a priority for
- 3:13Speaker 1: the league, no matter howly it can look, because they
- 3:16Speaker 1: don't care. This is udfas represent a fraction of the league,
- 3:19Speaker 1: not the big money players, so people don't care about
- 3:21Speaker 1: them as much. And if it if it's a circus,
- 3:23Speaker 1: which it is, then they don't care.
- 3:26Speaker 2: There was one story. There was a there's an agent
- 3:30Speaker 2: and a personal director who knew each other for fifteen
- 3:33Speaker 2: to twenty years, good, very friendly. They went up not
- 3:36Speaker 2: talking for a year and a half because the agent
- 3:38Speaker 2: backed out of a deal and he but he said
- 3:43Speaker 2: the agent said that the club took way too long
- 3:46Speaker 2: to make their decision because as you were talking about,
- 3:49Speaker 2: it's a frenzy. The agent want this want of this
- 3:52Speaker 2: thing over in like at two minutes. He's like, I
- 3:54Speaker 2: got other stuff to do. I have other players. I
- 3:55Speaker 2: got to get side right and the other another club
- 3:58Speaker 2: came in and I think what happened was the personal
- 4:01Speaker 2: director had to tell his GM and the answers to somebody,
- 4:04Speaker 2: the GMBL Adams. So the personal director yet at the
- 4:07Speaker 2: agent and they didn't. They were very friendly and they
- 4:09Speaker 2: didn't speak for a while.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Stuff happened over over like you know u d f
- 4:14Speaker 1: A signings. It's crazy, but that's it's a competitive sport.
- 4:18Speaker 1: The only thing I do love about the u DFA
- 4:20Speaker 1: signing period is it's annual. Andrew Brandt's story from when
- 4:24Speaker 1: Andrew Brandt was the president of the Packers, and for
- 4:27Speaker 1: those who have ever heard it before, he describes it
- 4:29Speaker 1: as him on a phone with an undrafted kid explaining
- 4:34Speaker 1: to the kid that they only really have it's it's
- 4:36Speaker 1: only going to be five thousand some couple of thousand
- 4:38Speaker 1: dollars or so, uh, you know that they have. And
- 4:41Speaker 1: the kid says, I promise you, I'll get you the
- 4:44Speaker 1: money as soon as I can. And Andrew say, no, no,
- 4:47Speaker 1: we pay you to come to come play and sign
- 4:52Speaker 1: the contract. But that just shows you, like, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 1: what a moment it is for some kids. You know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: it's it's and look, I mean, uh, some of the
- 5:00Speaker 1: these players and t J. Edwards great great example, Jarry's
- 5:03Speaker 1: Cooper last year. Eagles have a very good history of
- 5:08Speaker 1: bringing in an undirected free agents and you truly never know.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Sometimes guys make it around the league at a tryout
- 5:17Speaker 1: camp where sometimes they're just brought in because the club
- 5:23Speaker 1: doesn't have anyone that like they need like three players
- 5:26Speaker 1: at a certain position. Cameron Braid is one of the
- 5:29Speaker 1: old time stories. Cam Braid out of Harvard who was
- 5:35Speaker 1: at one camp and he didn't sign us a tryout.
- 5:38Speaker 1: The Bucks called the agent Jason Lytton. His group called
- 5:41Speaker 1: the agent and they needed an extra tight end because
- 5:44Speaker 1: they were low for the tryout. They never thought he
- 5:46Speaker 1: was going to make it right.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You wound up making it and they ended contract one
- 5:49Speaker 2: year they made ten million dollars. I mean that's you
- 5:51Speaker 2: never know, man, You never know what these hunt. I
- 5:54Speaker 2: don't scoff at them, although they're long shots. Right, if
- 5:58Speaker 2: you just blowed if if you blow it up, if
- 6:00Speaker 2: you keep Joe Osman right, Joe Span made it for
- 6:03Speaker 2: a little bit, then he got hurt on Fort had
- 6:05Speaker 2: an aco injury. Yeah, so I look at it unless
- 6:08Speaker 2: we hear from a like another club, since this guy
- 6:10Speaker 2: can't play a wife, Philly have him in there Like
- 6:13Speaker 2: that does happen once in a while where they just said,
- 6:15Speaker 2: I don't know what the health legals are thinking or
- 6:17Speaker 2: whatever whatever team you talk you're speaking to. Yep, but
- 6:21Speaker 2: not every team had Look, they don't have the same
- 6:22Speaker 2: draft boards, so it's it's relative.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So that's a good point. So a couple of years ago,
- 6:27Speaker 1: like I forget how many now, T J. Edwards was
- 6:30Speaker 1: a rookie free agent signing that we both had solid
- 6:34Speaker 1: intel on as far as watch out for this guy.
- 6:37Speaker 1: He's better than you think. He's just not a great athlete.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And he was right, doesn't run well enough. It was
- 6:43Speaker 1: a little bigger at the time, so we're kind of
- 6:46Speaker 1: keyed onto that read blanket ship was a different story.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I don't remember getting a whole lot of intel, like
- 6:51Speaker 1: that's the guy.
- 6:52Speaker 2: That's one.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he really just came from from nowhere to really
- 6:57Speaker 1: man and that's that's the best part of it.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Well, well, okay, so Middle Tennessee State. That's whe Kevin
- 7:02Speaker 2: Byron went. Okay, Reid did not run well, So that
- 7:05Speaker 2: got him not drafted despite starting four to five years
- 7:09Speaker 2: m h. That's got to get I mean, how the
- 7:12Speaker 2: hell did I I understand the league puts a lot
- 7:16Speaker 2: on speed. He was really smart. Uh, the intelligence testing
- 7:19Speaker 2: was good as we understood it. But and by the way,
- 7:22Speaker 2: he was not like as we understood it. Then he
- 7:25Speaker 2: wasn't like the Eagle's first choice of a safety to sign,
- 7:27Speaker 2: and I guess someone else was signing, and so they
- 7:29Speaker 2: brought him in and that was a great one. And yeah,
- 7:33Speaker 2: oh Ben Van Summon, who just saw him with Buffalo
- 7:36Speaker 2: hell of a fine for them. And by the way,
- 7:38Speaker 2: they saught him as a linebacker. We'll never truly know.
- 7:42Speaker 2: If he didn't have back to back major knee injuries,
- 7:44Speaker 2: maybe he'd be back here right as who knows as
- 7:47Speaker 2: what a linebacker or a fullback. But that's why I
- 7:50Speaker 2: learned my lesson. When other teams say, oh, this guy
- 7:54Speaker 2: can't play well Cavee Hall, No, I know he hasn't
- 7:56Speaker 2: made it technically, he was on the practice squad, but
- 7:59Speaker 2: he he had a he had NFL left. I mean,
- 8:02Speaker 2: he just you know, he he he didn't make it,
- 8:05Speaker 2: but he's been on and off the roster a little bit.
- 8:07Speaker 2: So again, Josh, Josh, Joe who bothered. I know he
- 8:10Speaker 2: didn't make it with the Eagles. Maybe was on and
- 8:13Speaker 2: off the roster, but he made it with the Seahawks
- 8:15Speaker 2: as a starter. Who the hell knows. Sometimes, hey, it
- 8:18Speaker 2: could happen.
- 8:19Speaker 1: That's right. Last year, I remember I said, this is
- 8:23Speaker 1: the thing about just guys who can just step up, right.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I remember the intel we got. I know, Max and
- 8:29Speaker 1: Hook was somebody to watch right from Toledo, and he's
- 8:32Speaker 1: still with the team right now. He signed the futures
- 8:34Speaker 1: with somebody, not the Eagles.
- 8:35Speaker 2: He did he is with someone but Charger.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I think the Chargers.
- 8:39Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, he didn't move well enough. That was
- 8:41Speaker 2: the that was the knock on him, and that showed
- 8:43Speaker 2: up a good size and.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Well we also didn't I'm sorry ahead, Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He went to see Rianne's favorite school, Toledo.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That's right. We also got we we talked a lot
- 8:55Speaker 1: about Holland Pierce because of the size and he guys
- 8:58Speaker 1: should have been drafted on side. But it but yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 1: but but here we are or were a couple of
- 9:03Speaker 1: weeks in the camp and it's like, who the heck
- 9:06Speaker 1: is this Darius Cooper guy? He is making catch after
- 9:09Speaker 1: catch and getting open and that's just how it is
- 9:11Speaker 1: with brook.
- 9:12Speaker 2: You freeze here here. Here's the thing with Darius Cooper
- 9:16Speaker 2: non combine, which is no surprise, right, former quarterback, small
- 9:21Speaker 2: school Charlton State. He also was much smaller physically when
- 9:25Speaker 2: the Eagles got him, he had he'd bulked up, and
- 9:29Speaker 2: he wasn't even at an All Star game as we
- 9:31Speaker 2: checked into it. And that's why I'm like, our patron
- 9:35Speaker 2: members asked, okay, who do you think can make it?
- 9:36Speaker 2: And we I didn't even mentioned Darius Cooper. I was
- 9:39Speaker 2: like this, there was an opportunity if he could blow
- 9:42Speaker 2: it up, but there was nothing to suggest he would
- 9:44Speaker 2: do this.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yep.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And I love when we found out the whole process
- 9:48Speaker 2: of it. What we looked at. Once we knew this
- 9:51Speaker 2: is a first week of August, he was doing so well, Like, Okay,
- 9:53Speaker 2: it's obvious this guy needs to be on the football team.
- 9:55Speaker 2: There's there's a path of them to make it. They're
- 9:57Speaker 2: not very deep at receiver.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 9:59Speaker 2: It should but when you look at you got to
- 10:02Speaker 2: have something. There are a couple guys on this list. Oh,
- 10:05Speaker 2: there's one thing on this list. We'll talk about a
- 10:08Speaker 2: couple of minutes that there are a couple of things
- 10:10Speaker 2: that stand out that they're looking for specific. It's not
- 10:13Speaker 2: just measurable, so that there's certain other aspects to it
- 10:15Speaker 2: as well.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Gotcha. I'm glad you brought Ben van Sumer and I
- 10:19Speaker 1: did want us to address that. Obviously, he's with Buffalo.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You know, the Eagles really tried to make it work.
- 10:24Speaker 1: He suffered two season ending injuries in a row. For
- 10:27Speaker 1: the last two years, the Eagles have really tried to
- 10:28Speaker 1: get a fullback involved in their pass or in their offense,
- 10:33Speaker 1: starting off with Carrie Blasting game two years ago and
- 10:36Speaker 1: then that's the plan they had for BVS as sort
- 10:39Speaker 1: of like an uber fullback who could also catch passes,
- 10:41Speaker 1: maybe return kicks. They made Cam lat a type of
- 10:46Speaker 1: full back last year. But as we've been saying, the
- 10:48Speaker 1: Shawan Mannion offense is expected to blend more of the
- 10:52Speaker 1: McVeigh and the Lafleur concepts than the Shanahan because Shanahan
- 10:57Speaker 1: uses a full back a lot of time that we
- 10:59Speaker 1: know about, you stick, but this offense probably not gonna
- 11:02Speaker 1: use a full back. I mean there's not one on
- 11:04Speaker 1: the roster. And at this point, and like we said,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Ben van Schumer and just went and signed with the Bills,
- 11:09Speaker 1: did you happen to did the Bill sign him as
- 11:11Speaker 1: a fullback?
- 11:12Speaker 2: Though?
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm wondering if okay, just making sure, Yeah, all right.
- 11:15Speaker 2: But one thing I would say just to add, let's
- 11:21Speaker 2: watch Carson Steele, who's built like if he's an athletic fullback.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I remember when I met us check at the senior
- 11:27Speaker 2: ball Uh he said, hey, I'm moving to tight end.
- 11:30Speaker 2: He was he was, Uh, he was, excuse me, I'm
- 11:32Speaker 2: moving from tight end to fullback Because he was six
- 11:35Speaker 2: one and a half. Now he's highest paid full back
- 11:37Speaker 2: in NFL history by far, by the way, just a
- 11:39Speaker 2: terrific football player. Very so you never know Carson Steele.
- 11:45Speaker 2: He's built like a full back. Pretty athletic. Not that
- 11:50Speaker 2: they don't need another running back. They have Damian Pearce.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Now you kind of need to bring at least four
- 11:55Speaker 2: that the had for now Carson Steel and and uh
- 11:58Speaker 2: and Damian Pierce would be four. And so I'm interested
- 12:02Speaker 2: to see what Carson Steele, who played for Andy Reid,
- 12:04Speaker 2: of course, who was used as a running back with
- 12:06Speaker 2: the Chiefs. Excuse me, hm, I'm interested to see. He's
- 12:11Speaker 2: a little bit older. He does, turned twenty four in October,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but it's because he was with the Chiefs for two
- 12:17Speaker 2: years on and off the roster. I'm interested to see
- 12:19Speaker 2: because he's a pretty big dude. I'm pretty athletic, very
- 12:23Speaker 2: much so.
- 12:24Speaker 1: All right, so let's get into a couple of things. First,
- 12:26Speaker 1: just some quick housekeeping for our patreon folks. We've got
- 12:30Speaker 1: a real special asking Eagle coming up to Tuesday night.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Marcus Smith, former first round pick of the Eagles, outside linebacker,
- 12:37Speaker 1: going to join us. Marcus. If you probably know this
- 12:40Speaker 1: by now, if you're inside the Birds listeners, he's been
- 12:42Speaker 1: on with us a couple of different times, does a
- 12:44Speaker 1: lot of work in the mental health space, very open
- 12:46Speaker 1: about his own story of getting picked in the first
- 12:49Speaker 1: round and not panning out, going out to Seattle, having
- 12:52Speaker 1: some struggles there, both on the field and off the field.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And he's great. He's been helping out athletes who went
- 12:58Speaker 1: through what he went through, football players. He helps out
- 13:01Speaker 1: a lot of different athletes with his Circle of M foundation,
- 13:04Speaker 1: and so our great Patreon folks will have a chance
- 13:07Speaker 1: to talk to him directly ask him questions. You can
- 13:09Speaker 1: still sign up to our Patreon channel patreon dot com,
- 13:13Speaker 1: slash inside the Birds and participate. You also get your
- 13:16Speaker 1: ask Greg co sales. We're doing one more of those. No,
- 13:19Speaker 1: we've already done. We've done. We've done our asked Greg,
- 13:22Speaker 1: We've done our poster. But Greg will be with us
- 13:24Speaker 1: throughout the year.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Can't wait. That's for Tier three. He he loves it always,
- 13:28Speaker 2: just I love doing these because every once in a
- 13:30Speaker 2: while someone bring up something that he had not thought about. Yep,
- 13:34Speaker 2: he loves it. He said that everyone's prepared and he
- 13:37Speaker 2: knows that Patreon membership serious not only Eagles fans, but
- 13:40Speaker 2: football fans. And yeah, so we do for our group,
- 13:44Speaker 2: uh for it t B. We do on every Wednesday
- 13:48Speaker 2: with our Patreon group all year at seven thirty Eastern
- 13:51Speaker 2: and ask an Eagle and also Tier two and Tier
- 13:55Speaker 2: three Patreon members get all the show's commercial free. That's
- 13:59Speaker 2: a big deal. I know lot of people. When we
- 14:01Speaker 2: started this, we looked into we research, Okay, what do
- 14:04Speaker 2: people want? No commercials? That's right, and also discord with
- 14:08Speaker 2: other members. Now we had a suggestion because we were
- 14:11Speaker 2: busy doing the draft, Okay, maybe we'll do one for
- 14:13Speaker 2: Tier three or just if we're if Patreon could pull off,
- 14:15Speaker 2: if they're like, if they could show us how it's done,
- 14:19Speaker 2: so some of the Tier threes might want to have
- 14:20Speaker 2: their own little discord channel, so we'll look into it.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Sounds ooh, I like that. Okay, good stuff. All right,
- 14:26Speaker 1: let's get inside the UDFA Class eight. As you mentioned,
- 14:32Speaker 1: start off with offense. We'll go with the day kuon right,
- 14:35Speaker 1: the tight End from Mississippi. He's kind of an interesting story.
- 14:39Speaker 1: One yeah, yeah, I was gonna says, he's kind of
- 14:42Speaker 1: like the guy that you circle and say offensively got
- 14:45Speaker 1: a shot, even though the Eagles have a million tight
- 14:47Speaker 1: The Egles went from finding no tight ends. Remember how
- 14:49Speaker 1: we talked about tight end depth and now they have
- 14:50Speaker 1: a million tight ends.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yes, so once they signed him, they cut. They waved
- 14:56Speaker 2: Jaheem Bell who was not picked off up off waivers.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But so let's see you now they've got actually they
- 15:04Speaker 2: actually they do still have eight. They actually had nine
- 15:07Speaker 2: tight ends. Goddard Calcaterra stours and months for lots of stone,
- 15:12Speaker 2: smart or five and six. E. J. Jenkins is seven
- 15:15Speaker 2: and de Kwon right is eight. So as you said,
- 15:17Speaker 2: they didn't need another tight end. But what I kind
- 15:20Speaker 2: of like about this move is they looked at his tape.
- 15:24Speaker 2: His tape was very intriguing. He did have a right
- 15:27Speaker 2: shoulder injury which lingered for a majority of the season.
- 15:30Speaker 2: He did not run at the combine he was invited.
- 15:34Speaker 2: He did not run at his pro das he did
- 15:36Speaker 2: the receiving drills. As we understand it, his combine size
- 15:39Speaker 2: six three and three quarters two forty six thirty one
- 15:42Speaker 2: quarter inch, arms, wingspan seven seventy eight and a half
- 15:46Speaker 2: hand size nine in a quarter. He's a Virginia Tech
- 15:50Speaker 2: transfer from there to Mississippi for two seasons, coming to
- 15:54Speaker 2: his best season thirty nine six thirty five and five
- 15:59Speaker 2: doing that with a shoulder injury.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty impressive.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yards per catch over sixteen and the best yards after
- 16:07Speaker 2: catch in college football Division one at over ten yards,
- 16:10Speaker 2: super explosive. Not running didn't help him. Now he it's
- 16:16Speaker 2: his choice, but he wound up not getting drafted. This
- 16:20Speaker 2: kid has got draftable grades from a lot of clubs.
- 16:23Speaker 2: As we understand, it would have been six or seventh
- 16:26Speaker 2: round anyway. But there's enough there, as Greg Coe would say,
- 16:30Speaker 2: there's something there with his player. Yeah, no, for him
- 16:33Speaker 2: to make it, it'll be almost you don't want to
- 16:36Speaker 2: say impossible. But the guys you know are going to
- 16:38Speaker 2: be on the roster are Goddart and Stowars. Right, Kapaterra
- 16:41Speaker 2: has guaranteed money this season on a one year deal.
- 16:45Speaker 2: It's not enough. If he does not produce or someone
- 16:48Speaker 2: beats him out, it's not a lot that he's going
- 16:51Speaker 2: to be on the roster.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Correct.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Did you have to ask yourself this question? What does
- 16:55Speaker 2: he really do? He's an athletic tight end, Well, so's right.
- 17:00Speaker 2: You know he can move. You know, Calcaterra got a
- 17:04Speaker 2: one year deal worth two million. It's a lot of money,
- 17:07Speaker 2: but only seven hundred grand is fully guaranteed its signing.
- 17:10Speaker 2: That does not guarantee he's going to be on the roster.
- 17:12Speaker 2: That contracts are very important when it comes down to
- 17:15Speaker 2: the last couple of players. But he's extremely intriguing. I
- 17:18Speaker 2: get it. I saw, I saw on social media and
- 17:22Speaker 2: on our YouTube channel. People are super excited. You should
- 17:25Speaker 2: be excited about this one. This is legit. He's got
- 17:28Speaker 2: a very tough row because they have so many tight
- 17:32Speaker 2: ends of the roster. But let me tell you something.
- 17:34Speaker 2: If he blows it up in training camp and has
- 17:36Speaker 2: a great preseason, yep, he puts that on tape, good
- 17:43Speaker 2: luck trying to get him thro waivers because the only
- 17:44Speaker 2: way you can get into practic squat is through waivers,
- 17:46Speaker 2: so that it would increase the changes of him making
- 17:49Speaker 2: it and at least making it an extremely difficult decisions.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and especially if you can show that he can
- 17:55Speaker 1: block a little bit, that would be too.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. I mean his size is pretty deep in
- 18:00Speaker 1: sixty three almost two fifty. You know who knows Bill Well, Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 1: he's Bill Well, He's he's uh, he's bigger than stours.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So yeah, it'll be interesting to say, I'm I'm intrigued
- 18:10Speaker 1: about it. I'm just really interested to see if he
- 18:12Speaker 1: can block. That's that part of it. The explosions there.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Yep, team captain as well, which is a big theme.
- 18:18Speaker 2: By the way, it's either academic All American or academic
- 18:24Speaker 2: good and academics team captain and of course RS score.
- 18:30Speaker 2: There seems to be something something in common, you know.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Rix S. Bielman told us former Vikings general manager, he said,
- 18:38Speaker 2: I don't I'm gonna take credit for Adam Feeling because
- 18:40Speaker 2: I signed him. Well, he was in our backyard, but
- 18:43Speaker 2: he gays, I gotta tell you, analytics is why we
- 18:46Speaker 2: signed him, because the analytical data was way better for
- 18:49Speaker 2: a guy who wasn't drafted. Right again try they signed
- 18:54Speaker 2: him as an entraged free agent, but they weren't expecting
- 18:57Speaker 2: to make it right. He was what what a what
- 18:59Speaker 2: a great signing that one of the best undrafted's in
- 19:02Speaker 2: probably their team history.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It might be yeah, for sure, for sure. What I was.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Chuckling, JNS the best ever. He's in the Hall of Fame.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But yeah, that's another great one. Yeah, I was chuckling
- 19:12Speaker 1: when you said how he was a team captain, great character,
- 19:15Speaker 1: because I I I always think when we get these
- 19:17Speaker 1: situations rookie free agent tight end who is explosive, has
- 19:22Speaker 1: great character, but is coming off an injury, and you
- 19:24Speaker 1: you know, because of that, I think Cornelias Ingram every
- 19:27Speaker 1: single time. No, I mean he was a great kid. Well,
- 19:31Speaker 1: he could catch anything. He just could not stay healthy.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he had major knee problems. I'd have to look.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I don't did he wind up ever playing in the NFL.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Well, no, he was only with the Eagles. I don't
- 19:43Speaker 1: think he went anywhere else, and he never really made
- 19:45Speaker 1: the fifty three. I think he got got hurt. I
- 19:47Speaker 1: think is with the Eagles, right, and we.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Had him coming in out of Florida. He had a
- 19:51Speaker 2: knee problem coming in.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Then he right you go again.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's too It's too bad because the dude
- 19:56Speaker 2: could move. Man, he was super explosive.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, sixteen point three yards per catch
- 20:03Speaker 1: for a tight end. I know it's Mississippi's event, and
- 20:06Speaker 1: I know it's you know, it's a little some people
- 20:08Speaker 1: say it's gimmicky, but I meant a fact. Yeah, it's
- 20:10Speaker 1: still great. That's that just shows explosion right there.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 20:15Speaker 1: The next guy is a guard out of Alabama, of course.
- 20:18Speaker 1: You know, the Eagles got a guard from Georgia in
- 20:19Speaker 1: the draft, so they had to get a guard from
- 20:21Speaker 1: Alabama after the draft. Jaden Roberts three years at right guard.
- 20:26Speaker 1: You like that at him, there's experience there.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, he was a three year starter twenty two
- 20:34Speaker 2: through twenty five. He spent five years there combine. But
- 20:38Speaker 2: does he have a guard size six five and a
- 20:40Speaker 2: quarter three thirty three at the combine thirty three and
- 20:43Speaker 2: three eighth inch arms which is com which is guard
- 20:47Speaker 2: like wins span a three and a quarters really good
- 20:49Speaker 2: hand size ten and a quarter bench twenty five to
- 20:52Speaker 2: t twenty five. Yeah, he's They needed developmental guard badly.
- 20:57Speaker 2: This is something we talked about in post draft. They
- 21:00Speaker 2: still needed a safety. They need they need a starterut
- 21:02Speaker 2: safety and they need developmental garden. Here you go.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Plus, I mean you look at the level of competition.
- 21:08Speaker 1: He played at his perfect size for the position. Heighty
- 21:12Speaker 1: three and a half quarter inch away. The Eagles are
- 21:14Speaker 1: just loading up these guys with wingspans man, that's what
- 21:16Speaker 1: you do. Traits are a big thing. So again I
- 21:20Speaker 1: like the fact that he has all that experience. I mean,
- 21:22Speaker 1: you bank on those guys to be able to handle
- 21:24Speaker 1: themselves a little bit better in the OTAs and training camps, because,
- 21:27Speaker 1: especially at a place like Alabama, because they're not learning
- 21:30Speaker 1: a new position, they're not being cross trained. He just
- 21:33Speaker 1: slides into the spot he's plate.
- 21:35Speaker 2: By the way, where is Tyler Steen, his forward teammate
- 21:38Speaker 2: at Alabama play right guard?
- 21:39Speaker 1: Just saying very funny, that's true, very interesting. All right,
- 21:43Speaker 1: those are the only two offensive guys, correct.
- 21:45Speaker 2: That's it? Yeah, yeah, all right.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Defense. We've talked a little bit about Joshua Rue the
- 21:52Speaker 1: edge from Well, he's gonna play edge Kenya. He came
- 21:55Speaker 1: through the IPP program that produced not only Jordan may Alotta,
- 21:58Speaker 1: but the kid that they drafted in the seventh round
- 22:01Speaker 1: as well are Bernard. He is like Jordan Mile out
- 22:04Speaker 1: of the Waro Adam is a former rugby player. Hey
- 22:07Speaker 1: cause if it worked once right.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Well right, but yes, but the once again the workout
- 22:16Speaker 2: he had it there was a showcase for the HBCU schools.
- 22:21Speaker 2: That's just where he put it. That's where they put him.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I guess he I don't know what Maybe they are yeah, yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 2: but maybe that's where they have some of them. But anyway,
- 22:30Speaker 2: four four, five forty one and a half inch vertical
- 22:33Speaker 2: which is huge eleven two broad jup. I mean that's
- 22:36Speaker 2: part of it. Like the workout was really good, so
- 22:39Speaker 2: it'll get you at least to try out. You know. Sure,
- 22:42Speaker 2: that's that he's here and he's a project. But I
- 22:45Speaker 2: do like the rugby thing. I know he's never put
- 22:48Speaker 2: on a football helmet, but it shows you have some
- 22:51Speaker 2: athleticism in addition to just the traits, the athletic traits
- 22:55Speaker 2: in terms of doing the jump and vertical and all
- 23:01Speaker 2: that stuff. But he has done like Jordan my Lot, Okay,
- 23:04Speaker 2: he never played football, is like, never put a football
- 23:05Speaker 2: homet on, but he done something athletic. He played rugby,
- 23:08Speaker 2: and of course I used to say he was like
- 23:12Speaker 2: here and the ants he was playing with.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Anyway, folks, if you haven't googled Jordan my Lota rugby
- 23:20Speaker 1: video and watch it on YouTube, it's it reminds me
- 23:24Speaker 1: of like when I was a kid playing Tech Mobile
- 23:28Speaker 1: and when you were Bo Jackson in that game, people
- 23:30Speaker 1: just the defenders just bounced off you.
- 23:33Speaker 2: That's one of the funny thing is my Lot of
- 23:35Speaker 2: my Lot is wearing the rugby shirt. Right. Yeah, he
- 23:38Speaker 2: looks and had no one ever told you watch us,
- 23:41Speaker 2: he go, who the hell is this big kid? Right?
- 23:44Speaker 2: He doesn't belong there? Well, apparently he didn't because he's
- 23:46Speaker 2: a football player and who knew.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But it was like a cheat code for that team
- 23:51Speaker 1: to have him.
- 23:52Speaker 2: So it's just so weird. I haven't for those of
- 23:55Speaker 2: us who grew up in the eighties, like wearing rugby
- 23:57Speaker 2: shirts a big deal then, you know. But anyway, Yeah, yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 1: All right, next guy off ball linebacker out of Alabama,
- 24:04Speaker 1: Deonte laws In. Another one who is coming off an injury.
- 24:09Speaker 1: He had the acl who's they playing Oklahoma?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yeah? Uh no versus Oklahoma?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah, versus Oklahoma. Right, so he didn't much like the
- 24:17Speaker 1: tight end we talked about, did not run at the
- 24:19Speaker 1: combine or the Pro day. Yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 2: So he got hurt late in twenty twenty four against Oklahoma.
- 24:26Speaker 2: He would have been absolutely drafted probably although he was smaller.
- 24:29Speaker 2: We'll get to that in a second, in terms of
- 24:30Speaker 2: we probably would have been a fourth or fifth front
- 24:33Speaker 2: pick at worst. Three year starter finished his career at
- 24:38Speaker 2: Alabama with two hundred and eighty three combined tackles, tenth
- 24:40Speaker 2: all time. This is another thing that's important. Two time captain,
- 24:43Speaker 2: one of only sixteen players in program history to do so,
- 24:47Speaker 2: graduated with two degrees Bachelor Masters. Okay, obviously very smart. Yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 2: but he's coming off the injury. He's smaller now he's
- 24:55Speaker 2: tall at six two and seven a's but he's only
- 24:58Speaker 2: two twenty six at the combine. That's a problem. He's
- 25:01Speaker 2: coming off an ACL that's a problem. Arm thirty one
- 25:04Speaker 2: at seven eight, wingspan seventy eight and the quarter hand
- 25:06Speaker 2: nine a quarter. So here's the thing. The Eagles of
- 25:11Speaker 2: might have gotten a steel here because if you okay,
- 25:13Speaker 2: so he did give him credit. He played last year.
- 25:17Speaker 2: He was not himself because he was coming off the
- 25:19Speaker 2: ac entree, but he played, you know, being a year
- 25:22Speaker 2: and a half away in almost two years during the
- 25:25Speaker 2: NFL season, if he's on the practice squad, they maybe,
- 25:29Speaker 2: just maybe he could work his way onto the roster.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Now path is Za Bond is entering year three of
- 25:35Speaker 2: his three year deal. H Okay, we'll see what they
- 25:39Speaker 2: do after the season. John Campbell hasn't been able to
- 25:41Speaker 2: stay healthy. Both shoulders have been repaired. Drought Junior is
- 25:46Speaker 2: entering now you're three, believe it or not, and then
- 25:50Speaker 2: there's a path long term here and yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I mean, since I think smile Mond him was such
- 25:55Speaker 1: a good special teamer and another one, I feel like
- 25:58Speaker 1: they're locked into those four.
- 26:00Speaker 2: And if there's good oh yeah this season.
- 26:02Speaker 1: But yeah, right, well, I hear about down the road, there's.
- 26:04Speaker 2: A path for him to be here as a practice
- 26:06Speaker 2: squad player.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Yep.
- 26:08Speaker 2: And look, but who knows by the time we get
- 26:10Speaker 2: to August, he could be another guy put puts up
- 26:13Speaker 2: really good tape. And it's just very interesting. Not all
- 26:19Speaker 2: of them, but a lot of these guys they went
- 26:21Speaker 2: to the big schools. It's just interesting in how he is.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Go back five years he wasn't doing that, but now
- 26:26Speaker 2: he is.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Right, and then that brings us to our next guy.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Because the Eagles had two guys from Alabama. We mentioned
- 26:32Speaker 1: the tight end is from Mississippi, and then there's a
- 26:34Speaker 1: corner from Mississippi. Name. I hope I get this name right,
- 26:37Speaker 1: Capena Guchicken.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Chicken. Yeah, he huh, he exactly. Here's why he's here. Okay.
- 26:47Speaker 2: He was a community college transfer then went to Mississippi
- 26:52Speaker 2: and Washington State for two years. But his his he
- 26:57Speaker 2: was not a combine, inviting his pro day six feet
- 27:00Speaker 2: ninety forty depending on who was time and get four
- 27:03Speaker 2: to three as high as four three five broad jump
- 27:06Speaker 2: forty one excuse me, vertical, forty one excuse me, forty
- 27:09Speaker 2: one vertical. It's really good. Broad jump eleven's good. Three
- 27:12Speaker 2: cone six point seven seven bench seventeen to two twenty five,
- 27:16Speaker 2: which is good for a corner.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 2: This got him in here, man, This got him in here.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 27:21Speaker 2: So he's a corner.
- 27:22Speaker 1: You don't do a combine. You go to the pro day,
- 27:24Speaker 1: you get it, you sell a chance. Yeah, those are good.
- 27:25Speaker 1: The forty one vertical, like you said, the eleven broad
- 27:28Speaker 1: jump pretty good. Seventeen reps for a guy who's only
- 27:31Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety pounds. That's that's good.
- 27:33Speaker 2: It's competitive too. That he actually benched. Yeah, that's that's
- 27:36Speaker 2: showing something that at a pro day you're running to
- 27:39Speaker 2: the bench as a corner. That that's By the way,
- 27:42Speaker 2: there are a lot of linemen. I only do like two,
- 27:43Speaker 2: like twenty five. Right.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I was trying to I know, Quinion Mitchell did a
- 27:47Speaker 1: pretty good I was going to look.
- 27:49Speaker 2: He did it was really good. I'll look it up.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I did twenty that's what it was. Twenty. So this
- 27:53Speaker 1: kid just did one less. Oh, I'm sorry, three less
- 27:56Speaker 1: yeah less.
- 27:56Speaker 2: It's pretty good though, yep, yeah, yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Because Quentin On Mitchell qu On more than one hundred
- 28:00Speaker 1: and ninety pounds is not He's probably closer to two hundred.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I thought, so that just for a corner the bench
- 28:08Speaker 2: twenty is like crazy great.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Yeah, very good stuff. All right, So that would be
- 28:14Speaker 1: you said it was Kapina or Capena.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I think it's Kapina, but we'll find out if it.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Let's put it this way. If he if he's pushing
- 28:21Speaker 2: for roster spot, right, then Waft did definitely know.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a little intel on this next guy
- 28:28Speaker 1: just that, and I ran them buy a few people
- 28:31Speaker 1: and someone said, you know this guy, this guy sticks out,
- 28:34Speaker 1: you know, uh, the safety from Washington State. His name
- 28:37Speaker 1: is Tucker Large. He was a transfer from South Dakota State.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So he played one year at Washington State, which means
- 28:46Speaker 1: he did not coincide with Gushicken because he started off
- 28:49Speaker 1: at Washington State but then was in Mississippi last year. Yes,
- 28:52Speaker 1: but either way, somebody to watch. And you know, we've
- 28:54Speaker 1: been talking about safety for a while as far as
- 28:57Speaker 1: if you have a really good camp and you're impressive,
- 29:00Speaker 1: there's a pathway for you as a bottom roster guy
- 29:03Speaker 1: for sure, a practice squad guy. If you can prove yourself.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Read blanket ship. You never know. And by the way,
- 29:08Speaker 2: Large was a team captain this past season. Pretty impressive.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, very much so. And then the last guy on
- 29:16Speaker 1: defense is another safety from Wafford, Maximus Pulley. My favorite
- 29:21Speaker 1: like this one.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, out of Watford. He's a safety. He started his
- 29:25Speaker 2: career at Western Kentucky, then played three years at Wafford.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Last season it was the FCS All American. He had
- 29:32Speaker 2: great numbers ten passes, defense, five picks, two four touchdowns. Wow,
- 29:37Speaker 2: finals for a defensive player there for FBS. He was
- 29:41Speaker 2: non invited to the Combine. He had the one big
- 29:44Speaker 2: year his proa depending on as I was told, depending
- 29:46Speaker 2: on who timed him. His high four to four five
- 29:48Speaker 2: short shuttle shuttle was four to twenty five ten yards
- 29:52Speaker 2: with one five to two, which is really good. That
- 29:55Speaker 2: is really good. Broad John ten point three bench sixteen
- 29:59Speaker 2: for safety.
- 30:01Speaker 1: That is good. That's really impressed.
- 30:03Speaker 2: One of these guys. First, let's hope they wanted them
- 30:07Speaker 2: for the egal sake. Makes it to train it camp.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 30:10Speaker 2: And there was a path here, just one of these
- 30:11Speaker 2: guys to make it make their fifty three man roster.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I know they have. We're gonna do. We're gonna start
- 30:17Speaker 2: going position by position this week of roster review. It's
- 30:20Speaker 2: just gonna be hard because all these developmental offensive linemen
- 30:22Speaker 2: egles have you know, they love their alignement. Man, they
- 30:25Speaker 2: need something that's safety. They need to help satire.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Sure, and what the Egles really need, Adam like literally
- 30:31Speaker 1: to play a game tomorrow if they needed to, was
- 30:35Speaker 1: a guy who snapped the ball on field goal kicks
- 30:39Speaker 1: and things like that. A long snapper, which they didn't
- 30:41Speaker 1: have up until the signing of Roco Underwood out of Florida.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And of course, naturally he's the Manally Award winner in
- 30:50Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. Is the best d one long snapper
- 30:52Speaker 1: and he's the only one the Egos have now. So
- 30:55Speaker 1: they're either pinning a lot of faith in Roco Underwood
- 30:59Speaker 1: or Howie likely has another backup plan as well to
- 31:03Speaker 1: uh to look at other long snappers.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they get a look at him. He
- 31:07Speaker 2: Patrick Manley, by the way, was the best long snapper
- 31:11Speaker 2: in the NFL for many years for the Chicago Bears.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Patrick Manley, very very long career. But yeah, so the
- 31:20Speaker 2: guys to watch for training camp will be obviously daycon
- 31:24Speaker 2: right they have I can't believe if they have eight
- 31:26Speaker 2: tight ends on the roster just because he could he
- 31:29Speaker 2: could beat out three of them easily. Then the question
- 31:31Speaker 2: is can he push to be the fourth tight end.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I'm telling you he puts good tape out the in
- 31:36Speaker 2: the preseason. They're not going to get him. Someone will
- 31:39Speaker 2: claim him. And then the other guy, Deontay Lawson, just
- 31:42Speaker 2: because he's very pretty talented guy. He's coming off the
- 31:45Speaker 2: injury and one of these safeties. One of these safeties.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 31:53Speaker 1: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 31:55Speaker 1: to your cannabis, cam din Apothecary makes it easy. This

- 32:43Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans. Twenty
- 32:47Speaker 1: one and up. All right, let's just roll click round
- 32:50Speaker 1: up the fifth year option news that came out the
- 32:52Speaker 1: Eagles clearly and we said this was gonna happen if
- 32:57Speaker 1: there was no extension. First it was gonna happen, picking
- 32:59Speaker 1: up the fifth year option on both defensive tackle Jalen
- 33:02Speaker 1: Carter and the edge rusher Nolan Smith. Those guys were
- 33:06Speaker 1: both first round picks from the twenty twenty three draft. Now,
- 33:11Speaker 1: I think we've talked about this, but I don't know
- 33:13Speaker 1: if everybody remembers. In the last few years they created
- 33:17Speaker 1: a tier system. Not everybody makes the same amount of
- 33:19Speaker 1: money just because they get the fifth year option at
- 33:22Speaker 1: their position. There's like a higher if you have two
- 33:25Speaker 1: if you make the Pro Bowl or multiple Pro Bowls,
- 33:27Speaker 1: like Jalen Carter, you get the highest tier of fifth
- 33:30Speaker 1: year option. When they did it for Jordan Davis last year,
- 33:33Speaker 1: it was a much more reasonable number because he was
- 33:35Speaker 1: not a pro bowler and he was not among the
- 33:38Speaker 1: highest tier. I'm just go just giving everybody that background information.
- 33:42Speaker 1: But Carter twenty seven million point one. It's fully guaranteed
- 33:46Speaker 1: for twenty twenty seven Smith thirteen point eight million. So
- 33:50Speaker 1: that's an example at him because we know that the
- 33:52Speaker 1: edge rug.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Think of it like this twenty seven million, fourteen million Carter. Yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 2: it's a formality, this placeholder. And plus you don't the
- 34:03Speaker 2: thing is not only is it full of guaranteed, but
- 34:05Speaker 2: you don't want with a with a fifth year option.
- 34:09Speaker 2: You can't donating with it, you can't restructure it. It's
- 34:13Speaker 2: the cash is the cap number. Yep. You don't want
- 34:17Speaker 2: him to play on that because you have no maneuverability
- 34:19Speaker 2: with it. You can't restructure it. So yeah, he And
- 34:22Speaker 2: the other thing is since this start in twenty twenty, CBA,
- 34:26Speaker 2: they needs to be guaranteed for injury only. Now they're
- 34:28Speaker 2: at exercise, they're fully guaranteed. And that's see this is interesting.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Let's get to Nold Smith. This is the fascinating one.
- 34:35Speaker 2: So they're guaranteed nearly fourteen million for twenty twenty seven. Well,
- 34:39Speaker 2: here's the problem. He's not even guaranteed to start over
- 34:41Speaker 2: jaylex Hn for the season. So now the reason why
- 34:46Speaker 2: you do do this is if he does beat out
- 34:48Speaker 2: jalax H and he blows it up, they've got leverage
- 34:51Speaker 2: because he's already going to make around fourteen million if
- 34:54Speaker 2: the tape's really good, and they like Jackson too, because
- 34:58Speaker 2: then they can extend Hunt. By the way, after this season.
- 35:00Speaker 2: It's kind of fascinating of the options. Now they got Grenard, obviously,
- 35:04Speaker 2: they redid his deal, they extended it guaranteed the first
- 35:07Speaker 2: two years.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Yep.
- 35:09Speaker 2: There it's it's kind of fascinating what's going to happen
- 35:11Speaker 2: to happen here between Smith and Hunt. I am really
- 35:16Speaker 2: looking forward to that battle. That that's one of the
- 35:18Speaker 2: best battles in training camp. What happens with those guys.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And it's a good point.
- 35:24Speaker 3: This was a little bit of a I you know,
- 35:27Speaker 3: I always assumed it was going to happen, a no brainer,
- 35:29Speaker 3: but when you're really look at it economically, in twenty
- 35:32Speaker 3: twenty seven, the starting edges could be not only Jelex Hunt,
- 35:36Speaker 3: but still Jonathan Grenard, and that would.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Make Nolan Smith a fourteen million dollar DPR or third
- 35:43Speaker 1: edge rusher a lot where that's a lot for number three,
- 35:47Speaker 1: way too much.
- 35:48Speaker 2: And yeah, well here's the thing, so the Giants are
- 35:51Speaker 2: doing it much the chigrette of a lot of Giants
- 35:54Speaker 2: fans with Cavon Thibodau kind of said, hey, look, we're
- 35:57Speaker 2: not going to trade them. Of course they would trade
- 35:59Speaker 2: them and really wanted them badly. Nice player, nothing special.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Now his salary his yeah, his total cash is just
- 36:12Speaker 2: over fourteen million. It also depends what which where you know,
- 36:16Speaker 2: where you're slotted where you slotted in that round, yep.
- 36:19Speaker 2: But yeah, he's he's a nice player, nothing special. By
- 36:24Speaker 2: the way, I don't know why anyone would have traded
- 36:26Speaker 2: for him anyways. It's it is interesting though, because what
- 36:30Speaker 2: a surprise that anyone to Hunt wins this job. In fact,
- 36:32Speaker 2: that would be my favorite for the job. Boy, I
- 36:34Speaker 2: think come on next season. For sure, Hunts im proven
- 36:38Speaker 2: against Ron Smith is better, but the better past rusher
- 36:40Speaker 2: right now is Hunt.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Right now, you can make the argument that going into
- 36:44Speaker 1: next season twenty twenty seven, Hunt will get an extension
- 36:49Speaker 1: and maybe have a low cap number in that twenty
- 36:52Speaker 1: twenty seven years, so that you can be all right
- 36:54Speaker 1: with given the thirteen point eight or whatever fourteen million
- 36:58Speaker 1: to Nolan Smith that year year while you still decide
- 37:01Speaker 1: what you're doing with Nolan Smith at that point. I mean,
- 37:04Speaker 1: they'll make it work. I think that the point you're
- 37:06Speaker 1: trying to make though, is with an edge rusher who
- 37:07Speaker 1: you know has talent and is going to play for you,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you can take the risk of fourteen million a year
- 37:13Speaker 1: because I mean, he's one injury away from being a
- 37:15Speaker 1: starting edge so and he's a he's going to play.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It's not like he's only playing if there's an injury,
- 37:21Speaker 1: or if he plays well, he'll get more reps too.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I mean that's he's a good player when healthy.
- 37:27Speaker 2: This will this situation will define itself going forward. We'll
- 37:29Speaker 2: learn more in training camp who's winning the job, and
- 37:33Speaker 2: then if both are doing well in the regular season,
- 37:36Speaker 2: if technically I mean basically, since he's been here, only
- 37:40Speaker 2: plays three guys anyway, the fourth guy dresses but doesn't
- 37:43Speaker 2: really play. So if that's the case again and they
- 37:48Speaker 2: met wind up moving to Nolan Smith, depending on what
- 37:52Speaker 2: is going on with other clubs at the trade deadline
- 37:56Speaker 2: in late October, So that it's just something we'll watch
- 37:58Speaker 2: here because with all with all the guys they've added
- 38:02Speaker 2: this offseason at edge, Ebic Ketty, who they've always liked,
- 38:06Speaker 2: who's making very good backup money.
- 38:08Speaker 1: By the way, Yeah, that's kind of makes this conversation,
- 38:11Speaker 1: what the point you just made very fascinating that Vic
- 38:14Speaker 1: tends to really only want to play three edge rushers. Now,
- 38:18Speaker 1: he'll make an exception if Brandon Graham comes back, because
- 38:21Speaker 1: he's gonna play.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Brandon g Yeah there's room right now. But yeah, so
- 38:25Speaker 2: he has to.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Right right, but if he does, I mean, already we're
- 38:28Speaker 1: wondering how much as a fourth edge is Arnold Ebiketty
- 38:32Speaker 1: going to play. And then if you happen to add
- 38:35Speaker 1: Graham to the mix, it becomes even more complicated. So
- 38:37Speaker 1: I'm I'm be interesting to see how that all shakes out.
- 38:40Speaker 2: By the way, Ebic Ketty is going to make four
- 38:42Speaker 2: point three million dollars as a backups, a lot of
- 38:45Speaker 2: money for a backup. And sure you know that.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Just anyone who might not play right, I mean, if
- 38:50Speaker 1: he's not in.
- 38:50Speaker 2: The rotation and yeah, yeah, with Hunt and Smith. Yeah,
- 38:54Speaker 2: it is. It's very true. This is something to watch
- 38:59Speaker 2: at the end of t training camp. As we get
- 39:01Speaker 2: when you get to the fifty three man roster, can't
- 39:03Speaker 2: keep everybody right, Yeah, I mean, if Smith and Hunter
- 39:06Speaker 2: having great camps, maybe they trade up with Caddy.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Who knows. Perhaps it didn't. Azizo Jali basically make four million.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Dollars round there. Yeah, yeah, as we Yeah, I know,
- 39:17Speaker 2: he got hurt with a hamster, but as we understood,
- 39:18Speaker 2: there were two other teams involved, so it jacked up
- 39:20Speaker 2: the money a little bit, right, So we'll see what happens.
- 39:22Speaker 2: The Eagles actually super deep at at released this season.
- 39:26Speaker 1: All right, great stuff. Love going through the udfas with
