- 0:47SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 0:48SPEAKER_12: Um.
- 0:50SPEAKER_12: But for the life of me, I forgot what it was already.
- 0:52SPEAKER_12: Nah, well, it probably wasn't important.
- 0:54SPEAKER_12: I did want to.
- 0:54SPEAKER_16: Did you see uh Kariani's uh No, it was it came in while I was driving up, so I didn't get a chance to.
- 1:00SPEAKER_12: He said I had to find it, but here it is from the 80s.
- 1:06SPEAKER_12: Is that an Atari?
- 1:07SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 1:10SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:10SPEAKER_12: And he's got all he's got looks like he's gonna stuff there, too.
- 1:14unknown: Man.
- 1:15SPEAKER_12: That's pretty great.
- 1:16SPEAKER_12: That is awesome.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_16: That's uh that's that's that's a collectible order.
- 1:20SPEAKER_16: I wonder if I can zoom in.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Asteroids, dude.
- 1:22SPEAKER_16: Yes! Nice.
- 1:24SPEAKER_16: That was a b- that was one of the best games.
- 1:26SPEAKER_16: I don't know what that one is, but yeah.
- 1:29SPEAKER_16: Yep, that's asteroids, froger, pac-Man.
- 1:33SPEAKER_12: Froger, oh, I forgot about Frogger.
- 1:35SPEAKER_16: Remember Pitfall?
- 1:36SPEAKER_16: I don't remember Pitfall.
- 1:37SPEAKER_16: I loved Pitfall.
- 1:38SPEAKER_16: I see, I never had an Atari.
- 1:39SPEAKER_16: I never either, but my cousin did.
- 1:41SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:42SPEAKER_16: And she had all the games.
- 1:44SPEAKER_16: And then when we got an Atari, we had like Pac-Man, and then we got I I remember Frogger from the Arcade.
- 1:50SPEAKER_12: The arcade, yeah.
- 1:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I would go play that at the arcade, yeah, for sure.
- 1:53SPEAKER_12: We had Ghostbusters.
- 1:55SPEAKER_12: A video game?
- 1:56SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_16: Really?
- 1:57SPEAKER_16: For the Atari.
- 1:58SPEAKER_16: Interesting.
- 1:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_16: I mean, it was super cheesy.
- 2:00SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna tell you, I was listening to uh and and and this is something I wouldn't mind talking about at some point uh during the podcast because I I don't know.
- 2:09SPEAKER_12: I just it's the nostalgia thing, right?
- 2:12SPEAKER_12: I was I was listening and watching um Professor of Rock.
- 2:18SPEAKER_12: Um hold on.
- 2:24SPEAKER_12: Thank you.
- 2:27SPEAKER_16: Everybody's like, what is he what is he thanking him for?
- 2:29SPEAKER_16: What did Doug do?
- 2:30SPEAKER_12: No, I think they're gonna be.
- 2:32SPEAKER_12: They could hear me on your mic.
- 2:33SPEAKER_12: Oh, they probably wouldn't.
- 2:34SPEAKER_12: I I muted my mic.
- 2:36SPEAKER_12: I should have been like What do you have to say about that?
- 2:40SPEAKER_12: Um I was watching the Professor of Rock.
- 2:43SPEAKER_12: Uh, and if you if if you're our age, uh you would eat the Professor of Rock up.
- 2:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he's uh it's just it's just awesome stuff.
- 2:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_12: Uh very nostalgic.
- 2:53SPEAKER_12: Anyway, um he was doing one of his things where, you know, like one of his wonders that were, you know, um uh that were un unbelievable or you know, whatever.
- 3:06SPEAKER_12: Uh but I I actually wrote down a couple of the songs.
- 3:09SPEAKER_12: I just miss that music.
- 3:11SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_12: Uh let's start there because um they both of the songs that he talked about, well, he talked about a lot of songs, but as I'm as I'm kind of I'm watching it, I'm really not watching it, I'm listening to it.
- 3:26SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 3:26SPEAKER_12: As I kind of you know, clean up and I'm trying to get the fire going and stuff like that.
- 3:30SPEAKER_12: Um but the two songs that I wrote down were um both from members of the cars, uh Benjamin Orr and Rick O'Kasic.
- 3:45SPEAKER_12: Uh do you remember you must remember this song.
- 3:48SPEAKER_12: Uh, but I had I I guess I hadn't forgotten about it, but um it I forgot it was a it was a one hit.
- 3:56SPEAKER_12: He this is the only hit he had.
- 4:03SPEAKER_12: This is Benjamin Orr.
- 4:09SPEAKER_12: Does that sound familiar to you at all?
- 4:11SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_16: Is it just our system or is it just badly mixed?
- 4:31SPEAKER_12: Well, I think it must be just file.
- 4:35SPEAKER_12: Let me go back and let's see if the the uh the actual video is any different.
- 4:40unknown: I love you.
- 4:41SPEAKER_16: Oh thanks.
- 4:43SPEAKER_12: Oh, that's better.
- 4:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that's way better, yeah.
- 4:49SPEAKER_12: It said the and the one I I uh played before said high quality.
- 4:54SPEAKER_12: Not not like quality.
- 4:58SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 5:02SPEAKER_18: Oh yeah, that's better.
- 5:06SPEAKER_12: It is still a little buried though.
- 5:08SPEAKER_16: But not as bad as the ones.
- 5:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah, let me go ahead to uh it just takes me back to to you know, because I remember when this was on the radio.
- 5:27SPEAKER_12: Um and then you know, a lot of people didn't know that um Benjamin Orr sang a lot of the car's biggest hits.
- 5:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:42SPEAKER_12: Which I always thought because Rico Kasich was was the one that was like the the main guy in the videos, it seemed.
- 5:49SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 5:50SPEAKER_12: Um, and they kind of sound similar.
- 5:53SPEAKER_16: A little bit, yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:54SPEAKER_12: But Benjamin Orr is the lead singer on Just What I Needed.
- 5:57SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 5:58SPEAKER_12: And obviously Drive, who's gonna drive you home?
- 6:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah, right?
- 6:01SPEAKER_12: And Rico Kasich, of course, he had he said, I don't know why we're talking about this.
- 6:05SPEAKER_12: I just it just hit me.
- 6:06SPEAKER_12: But this one here from Rico Kasich, he was also, believe it or not, a one-hit wonder solo.
- 6:18SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_16: Remember this one?
- 6:20SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 6:24SPEAKER_12: I didn't like this one as much as the Benjamin Orleans.
- 6:27SPEAKER_12: No, I didn't either, but when he played this, I'm like, oh, I remember that song.
- 6:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 6:36SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 6:37SPEAKER_12: But as soon as I heard it, I was ticking completely.
- 6:40SPEAKER_16: I think I I think I just assumed it was a car song.
- 6:42SPEAKER_16: It does sound like a car song.
- 6:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't know.
- 6:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:44SPEAKER_12: So did you know he he he produced the um Weezer album that had Buddy Holly on it?
- 6:51SPEAKER_12: Did it?
- 6:52SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 6:53SPEAKER_16: Wouldn't surprise me.
- 6:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:59SPEAKER_12: But I miss this, you know, a lot of people make fun of the production value of the 80s.
- 7:04SPEAKER_12: I dug it.
- 7:05SPEAKER_16: Well, I mean, it's cheesy by today's standards, yeah.
- 7:08SPEAKER_16: Yes, it is.
- 7:09SPEAKER_16: But that was like that was high quality back then.
- 7:14SPEAKER_16: You know what I mean?
- 7:15SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_16: And there was no there was no studio tricks, there's no auto-tune.
- 7:21SPEAKER_16: Right?
- 7:22SPEAKER_16: There's no sampling.
- 7:24SPEAKER_16: There's that's layered.
- 7:25SPEAKER_12: It's all played by a human.
- 7:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_16: I mean, it may be a synthesizer and it may be a drum machine, but yeah.
- 7:34SPEAKER_12: Anyway, I just I heard those those two songs and and a couple other ones too.
- 7:38SPEAKER_16: I still can't figure out how Rick O'Kasic pulled down uh what's her face?
- 7:41SPEAKER_16: Pauline uh Porskova.
- 7:43SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 7:43SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's I whiz.
- 7:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah, for sure.
- 7:46SPEAKER_16: Good night.
- 7:47SPEAKER_16: I mean, that was like well, Lyle Lovett got Julia Roberts in for a little while.
- 7:52SPEAKER_12: So I don't know.
- 7:53SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 7:53SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I I don't get it.
- 7:54SPEAKER_16: I mean, I I suppose that I think that's why I became a musician.
- 7:58SPEAKER_16: Just because I'm like, hmm, let's see, I'm ugly.
- 8:01SPEAKER_16: I like music.
- 8:03SPEAKER_16: I wouldn't go that far.
- 8:04SPEAKER_16: Wait a minute.
- 8:06SPEAKER_16: You got your chocolate and my peanut butter.
- 8:08SPEAKER_16: You got my peanut butter and my chocolate.
- 8:12SPEAKER_16: I know how I'm gonna get women.
- 8:14SPEAKER_16: I'm gonna be a drummer.
- 8:16SPEAKER_16: Now we're done with that.
- 8:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that was that that's not the way to go.
- 8:20SPEAKER_16: I was in Simonov's class today, and uh John told John told a bass player joke, and it was the best thing ever.
- 8:28SPEAKER_16: Do you remember it?
- 8:29SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 8:29SPEAKER_16: What is it?
- 8:30SPEAKER_16: He's like, so a kid goes to a bass player, he wants to learn how to play the bass.
- 8:34SPEAKER_16: So the so he goes to the bass player and the and the bass pe the bass player teacher goes, Okay, you're this is the E string, and you're gonna just pluck that and do that and get good at it, and then come back next week, I'll teach you.
- 8:45SPEAKER_16: So the kid goes, oh, so uh he comes back the next week and the kid's like, okay, and the instructor's like, Well, this is the A string.
- 8:54SPEAKER_16: I just want you to plug that.
- 8:56SPEAKER_16: Pluck that.
- 8:58SPEAKER_16: Come back next week, I'll teach you something else.
- 9:00SPEAKER_16: So next week comes, the kid never shows up.
- 9:02SPEAKER_16: Week after that, the kid doesn't show up.
- 9:05SPEAKER_16: Week after that, kid still doesn't show up.
- 9:07SPEAKER_16: Finally, the kid comes back.
- 9:11SPEAKER_16: I was on tour.
- 9:16SPEAKER_16: Wait, where is it?
- 9:17SPEAKER_16: I don't know, we always miss it.
- 9:21SPEAKER_16: I was like, man, that was a great joke.
- 9:24SPEAKER_16: So of course I had to tell some dr drummer jokes, so that you know, right.
- 9:29SPEAKER_16: But it was I thought that was hilarious.
- 9:30SPEAKER_16: I'd never heard that joke before.
- 9:32SPEAKER_16: That was great.
- 9:33SPEAKER_16: Um yeah, I just still it just baffles, it just baffles the mind.
- 9:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:38SPEAKER_12: So uh whatever.
- 9:40SPEAKER_16: That got me thinking about the 80s and how much I miss and then Well, I've been listening to that YouTube music channel.
- 9:46SPEAKER_16: The 80s one 100 greatest hits of the age.
- 9:48SPEAKER_16: Right, yeah.
- 9:49SPEAKER_16: Some of them I'd never heard before.
- 9:50SPEAKER_16: I'm like, what?
- 9:52SPEAKER_12: Can you think of one?
- 9:53SPEAKER_16: Uh what was I just Oh, Alphaville.
- 9:58SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, Alphaville I've heard of.
- 9:59SPEAKER_16: No, no, it was not the one you're thinking of.
- 10:01SPEAKER_16: Oh, they had another one big in Japan or something like that.
- 10:05SPEAKER_12: I've never heard that.
- 10:06SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I'd never heard of it either, but it's a it's on their brightest 100.
- 10:09SPEAKER_16: What was their um what was it?
- 10:11SPEAKER_16: Forever Young.
- 10:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_16: Baba beep.
- 10:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:16SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 10:16SPEAKER_12: I remember that.
- 10:16SPEAKER_16: But I was like, I have never heard.
- 10:18SPEAKER_16: And there was another one, uh, a Naha song I'd never heard.
- 10:21SPEAKER_16: Uh The Sun Always Shines on TV.
- 10:24SPEAKER_16: Yeah, no, I've heard that one.
- 10:25SPEAKER_16: I I I've never heard of it.
- 10:26SPEAKER_16: Sun Always Shines on TV.
- 10:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I was like, what?
- 10:29SPEAKER_16: Where did this come from?
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: Um so So earlier today, too, and I don't know what why I was thinking about the 80s.
- 10:36SPEAKER_12: Um 80s were awesome.
- 10:38SPEAKER_12: Well, yeah.
- 10:41SPEAKER_12: Music, movies, cold war.
- 10:43SPEAKER_12: I mean, come on! Although I did I uh nobody was here.
- 10:47SPEAKER_12: She had to go get Myra so the and the boys were at practice.
- 10:50SPEAKER_12: So I was here by myself.
- 10:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:51SPEAKER_12: And and I put on the TV and and uh McGyver was on.
- 10:54SPEAKER_12: So I watched an episode of MacGyver.
- 10:57SPEAKER_12: Sometimes that stuff holds up and sometimes it doesn't.
- 10:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah, 80s TV is kind of hit or miss.
- 11:02SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you know.
- 11:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:03SPEAKER_12: So um and I was thinking about some of the shows I used to watch because I was, you know, every once in a while I'll dial around and I'll say, Oh, you know, I used to watch this when I was kidding.
- 11:12SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 11:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah, oh yeah, all the time.
- 11:14SPEAKER_12: Do you remember a show called Hardcastle and McCormick?
- 11:16SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_12: Brian Keith was the judge.
- 11:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_12: I love that show, man.
- 11:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I know I didn't I only got to watch it once in a while because we we never got that channel, but uh yeah, I I mean I used to watch it at edge.
- 11:27SPEAKER_12: But that's one of those Donald P.
- 11:29SPEAKER_12: Belisario shows, you know, the the producer that, you know, McGyver Stephen J.
- 11:35SPEAKER_16: Cannell.
- 11:36SPEAKER_12: Stephen J.
- 11:36SPEAKER_12: Cannell, too, yeah.
- 11:37SPEAKER_16: Did A Team and Rockford Falls and all that?
- 11:39SPEAKER_12: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 11:40SPEAKER_12: That but that was that was good stuff, man.
- 11:42SPEAKER_12: That's and maybe it wasn't, but it was for us back then.
- 11:46SPEAKER_16: Arewolf!
- 11:47SPEAKER_12: Arewolf.
- 11:51SPEAKER_16: Ernest Pork9.
- 11:52SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I I still haven't figured that one out.
- 11:54SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 11:55SPEAKER_16: Of course, Jan Michael Vinson went completely nuts.
- 11:58SPEAKER_16: Completely nuts.
- 11:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 11:59SPEAKER_16: I think he lost like his leg and then he died.
- 12:01SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 12:01SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 12:02SPEAKER_16: Poor guy.
- 12:02SPEAKER_12: Something like that.
- 12:03SPEAKER_16: I think he drank himself to death.
- 12:04SPEAKER_16: Yeah, but but I mean that was a great show, man.
- 12:07SPEAKER_16: I remember, I mean, that was like I had to watch that.
- 12:10SPEAKER_16: Every time it was on, I had to watch Airwolf.
- 12:12SPEAKER_12: It's funny that uh because uh we were talking about this last week.
- 12:15SPEAKER_12: Remember we mentioned Iron Eagle last week?
- 12:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:18SPEAKER_12: So uh Wildman was on.
- 12:19SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 12:20SPEAKER_12: Did you see that?
- 12:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I did see that.
- 12:21SPEAKER_12: Because he's asking for 80s movies, and I put in Iron Eagle.
- 12:24SPEAKER_12: He's like, uh, you you win.
- 12:27SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I was like, oh, I was like, I was looking down the list, I was like, I saw you put Iron Eagle.
- 12:31SPEAKER_12: I was like, yes, watch Iron Eagle.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: Do you remember uh I just I'm in the mood to reminisce a little bit.
- 12:38SPEAKER_12: Do you remember uh there was a uh another helicopter movie that had Roy.
- 12:42SPEAKER_12: Blue Thunder.
- 12:43SPEAKER_12: Yes, Roy Scheider.
- 12:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_12: What a great movie.
- 12:46SPEAKER_12: That was a cool movie, man.
- 12:47SPEAKER_12: It was awesome.
- 12:47SPEAKER_12: That was a great movie.
- 12:48SPEAKER_12: And I'd watch if that was on, like if I'm Donald Rantley and it's on, it's one of those diehard moments.
- 12:53SPEAKER_12: If Blue Thunder is on, I'm gonna watch it.
- 12:55SPEAKER_12: You gotta watch it, yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna watch the whole thing.
- 12:57SPEAKER_12: Heck yeah, man.
- 12:57SPEAKER_12: Oh man.
- 12:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:59SPEAKER_12: Absolutely.
- 12:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:00SPEAKER_12: Anyway, I digress.
- 13:02SPEAKER_12: Maybe some other other things.
- 13:04SPEAKER_16: One of my favorites was uh it was it's called the final countdown, where the US USS Nimitz goes back in time to like right before the attack on Pearl Harbor and they have a chance to stop it.
- 13:14SPEAKER_12: I remember you talking about it, and I remember like I think the promotion of it, I never got to watch it.
- 13:20SPEAKER_12: That's so good.
- 13:21SPEAKER_12: Is it now if I go like on my Roku TV and I and I type in the final countdown?
- 13:26SPEAKER_16: Kirk Douglas is uh captain of the Nimitz.
- 13:28SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 13:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 13:29SPEAKER_12: It's a great movie.
- 13:30SPEAKER_12: Um, not to change the subject, but do my glasses look uh crooked to you?
- 13:34SPEAKER_16: No, because your head is.
- 13:38SPEAKER_16: No, not really.
- 13:39SPEAKER_12: I'm I'm I come home from work today and I said, I'm gonna go lay down for a few minutes just to spin on the glasses.
- 13:45SPEAKER_12: It was kind of a crazy day, so I took my glasses off, laid them next to me.
- 13:50SPEAKER_12: Kind of like a little 15-minute nap.
- 13:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:53SPEAKER_12: Then I rolled over on top of my glasses.
- 13:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah, that explains that.
- 13:56SPEAKER_12: So now I either they're crooked.
- 13:58SPEAKER_12: I I bent them back a little bit.
- 14:00SPEAKER_12: No, you can't really tell.
- 14:01SPEAKER_12: But uh I'm gonna have to either get some new glasses or I don't know.
- 14:05SPEAKER_12: We'll figure something out.
- 14:06SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you had a crazy day too.
- 14:07SPEAKER_16: Uh yeah, I was I was going between first and fourth grade today.
- 14:10SPEAKER_16: Oh, first grade was awful today.
- 14:12SPEAKER_16: Ours was mine was awesome, baby.
- 14:14SPEAKER_16: Wow.
- 14:14SPEAKER_16: Well, I went to gym with them and they're playing kickball, right?
- 14:17SPEAKER_16: And the gym teacher's like the all-time picture, you know, yeah for both sides.
- 14:20SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 14:21SPEAKER_16: And he's getting ready, he's like, blah, blah, blah, are you ready as a little girl?
- 14:24SPEAKER_16: She's like, Yeah, bro, I've been ready.
- 14:26SPEAKER_05: I'm like, what the f I'm like, what?
- 14:31SPEAKER_12: Oh, that reminds me.
- 14:33SPEAKER_12: So um I'm I'm in the second grade hallway uh y yesterday, and we have this um Title I reading teacher who pulls kids out of the classroom.
- 14:43SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 14:43SPEAKER_12: That's what I was doing today.
- 14:44SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 14:45SPEAKER_12: So so she pulls four kids out of this classroom, and they're like, and they they've never had to go anywhere like this before.
- 14:51SPEAKER_17: Oh, okay.
- 14:53SPEAKER_12: And she actually, it's funny because she stopped me uh at lunchtime today, this teacher, and she said, because she was telling some of the other teachers about it, and she said, Did you hear what they said?
- 15:02SPEAKER_12: I was like, Yes, it was hilarious.
- 15:04SPEAKER_12: Anyway, so yesterday in the hall, she's like, uh, you're so-and-so, you're so-and-so.
- 15:10SPEAKER_12: And they're like, No, I'm so-and-so.
- 15:11SPEAKER_12: Okay, so you're so-and-so, you're so okay, you're coming with me.
- 15:15SPEAKER_12: And then one of them goes, Are we gonna be learning?
- 15:23SPEAKER_12: She says, Yes, you're absolutely gonna be learning.
- 15:28SPEAKER_12: And the other one goes, because we're not very good at learning.
- 15:34SPEAKER_12: This was second grade.
- 15:36SPEAKER_12: It was awesome.
- 15:37SPEAKER_12: And I'm walking, I think I'm I'm walking to the bathroom.
- 15:42SPEAKER_12: And I had overheard this, and I turned around and I looked at this teacher and I'm like, oh my word.
- 15:46SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 15:47SPEAKER_12: Are we gonna be learning?
- 15:48SPEAKER_12: Because we're not very good at learning.
- 15:50SPEAKER_16: I'm not very good at learning.
- 15:51SPEAKER_16: Oh my god.
- 15:51SPEAKER_16: I love that.
- 15:52SPEAKER_16: That's why I love teaching.
- 15:53SPEAKER_16: I mean, I mean I absolutely love it because I never know.
- 15:56SPEAKER_16: Well, of course, being a sub, you don't know what you're gonna do until you get there.
- 15:59SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 16:00SPEAKER_16: But then sometimes they come up with stuff that just floors you like that girl today.
- 16:05SPEAKER_16: Yeah, bro, I've been ready.
- 16:06SPEAKER_16: I'm like, what who did they do?
- 16:08SPEAKER_12: And this was first grade.

- 16:23SPEAKER_12: Maybe it was the weather.

- 16:38SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 16:39SPEAKER_16: So I was like, I walked in, I was like, oh man, what are their names?
- 16:43SPEAKER_16: And then the teacher said something.
- 16:44SPEAKER_16: I was like, oh yes.
- 16:46SPEAKER_16: And then the other guy.
- 16:51SPEAKER_16: I tell you.

- 24:02SPEAKER_12: Right, well, you know what I mean?
- 24:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's true.
- 24:04SPEAKER_16: And they're just like, ah, it's a music video.

- 24:44SPEAKER_12: You never heard that song?
- 24:46SPEAKER_12: I want us to do that song.
- 24:48SPEAKER_12: I want the syndicate.
- 24:49SPEAKER_12: Who was the syndicate?
- 24:50SPEAKER_12: Oh, syndicate.
- 24:51SPEAKER_12: Uh I put that on the list a long time ago, but they're ignoring me.
- 24:54SPEAKER_12: Of course.
- 24:54SPEAKER_12: Um, I mean, look how long it took to get me to war pigs.
- 24:59SPEAKER_12: Right.

- 28:04SPEAKER_12: Awesome! Um that's according to ultimate classicrock.com.
- 28:08SPEAKER_12: Uh we do have some other new songs to preview, uh, which I'm kind of excited about.
- 28:14SPEAKER_12: I've heard this one.
- 28:15SPEAKER_12: Uh Def Leppard have put out a new song called Rejoice.
- 28:21SPEAKER_12: Now they're they're kind of they're trying to sell it, obviously, so they're they're building it up as like the greatest thing since sliced bread.
- 28:31SPEAKER_12: Uh it's a standalone single to celebrate their upcoming Las Vegas residency, which kicks off February 3rd at Caesar's Palace.
- 28:41SPEAKER_12: Uh uh Joe Elliott says, this song's been an amazing journey from concept to conclusion.
- 28:46SPEAKER_12: I said to Phil one day, I've got this idea for a lyric where the narrator is at absolute rock bottom and wants to rise up to a higher level.
- 28:53SPEAKER_12: Do you have a musical piece that might match with that?
- 28:56SPEAKER_12: And he said, as it happens, yes I do.
- 28:59SPEAKER_12: Uh so uh I had this riff idea, uh, Phil Collins says, uh, for a song a while ago, actually.
- 29:04SPEAKER_12: So when Joe came to me and created this drum loop based with a tribal sound.
- 29:09SPEAKER_12: Hello rocket.
- 29:10SPEAKER_12: Uh, and it fit perfectly with this other arrangement I had.
- 29:13SPEAKER_12: I sent it to Joe and it was like magic.
- 29:15SPEAKER_12: Then we gave it to Ronan, who do done a proper drum loop with different sounds, it all started gelling, and it just sounded like a powerful chant.
- 29:21SPEAKER_12: We love it.
- 29:22SPEAKER_12: It's hard rock for us.
- 29:24unknown: It's not hard rock.
- 29:25SPEAKER_12: It's got a bit more of an oomph than stuff we've been doing for a while.
- 29:29SPEAKER_12: It's kind of magical.
- 29:30SPEAKER_12: So I'm not saying the song is bad.
- 29:32SPEAKER_12: Have you heard it?
- 29:33SPEAKER_12: I've heard it.
- 29:34SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 29:35SPEAKER_12: Um the lyrics are kind of lame, like real lame.
- 29:38SPEAKER_16: Well, they're I don't know what it is lately, but their lyrics kind of suck away.
- 29:43SPEAKER_16: So I don't know.
- 29:44SPEAKER_12: I just I'm not saying it's bad.
- 29:45SPEAKER_12: I love Def Leopard.
- 29:47SPEAKER_12: I really do.
- 29:48SPEAKER_12: Uh I don't know.
- 29:50SPEAKER_12: We're we'll just play it.
- 29:51SPEAKER_12: This is uh Rejoice.
- 29:53SPEAKER_12: Welcome to the next No, it's not.
- 29:56SPEAKER_12: Usually these little clips are they don't have commercials, but this one did, so here we go.
- 31:32SPEAKER_12: I got a back beat, feel the heat.
- 31:37SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I mean the words are pretty pedestrian, but yeah.
- 31:40SPEAKER_16: I I kinda like the song.
- 31:41SPEAKER_16: Well, yeah, I mean you both in our head, yeah, right.
- 31:44SPEAKER_16: You know.
- 31:48SPEAKER_16: I just love how they're still making music.
- 31:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, me too.
- 31:52SPEAKER_12: I mean they're the 60s and late 60s and some of them, and I can't really take anything away from them.
- 31:59SPEAKER_12: That's it's not part of an album.
- 32:02SPEAKER_12: It's just uh they want to put out a song, yeah, which we've been talking about doing.
- 32:05SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 32:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 32:07SPEAKER_12: So, like I said, it's not a bad song.
- 32:13SPEAKER_12: I'm not crazy about it.
- 32:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it's not the most favorite thing I've ever done, but I mean it's it's not terrible.
- 32:19SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 32:19SPEAKER_16: So all right.
- 32:20SPEAKER_16: I mean, I'd listen to this before any Taylor Swift albums.
- 32:23SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that's true.
- 32:24SPEAKER_12: Me too.
- 32:25SPEAKER_12: Absolutely true.
- 32:26SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, so now I have Is that Axel?
- 32:29SPEAKER_12: No, that's Lou Graham from Foreigner.
- 32:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he yeah, he looks like your boy.
- 32:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 32:35SPEAKER_12: Well, I mean, he did have a had brain cancer, hadn't he?
- 32:38SPEAKER_12: That's true, yeah.
- 32:40SPEAKER_12: That's true.
- 32:40SPEAKER_12: So, um, his new album released uh is coming out March 27th.
- 32:46SPEAKER_12: Now, there is a connection between this song and Def Leopard.
- 32:51SPEAKER_12: Vivian Campbell plays guitar on it.
- 32:54SPEAKER_12: Did you know that uh Lou Graham and Vivian Campbell were in a band together?
- 33:00SPEAKER_16: They were.
- 33:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 33:01SPEAKER_12: And I actually have um what was it called?
- 33:07SPEAKER_12: Uh Shadow King, I think.
- 33:11SPEAKER_12: It was Why do I remember that name?
- 33:13SPEAKER_12: It was I think it was before Vivian Campbell joined Def Leppard and after Lugram quit Foreigner.
- 33:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I remember that.
- 33:23SPEAKER_16: Um that you mentioned the name.
- 33:25SPEAKER_12: I want to uh because it's a cool name.
- 33:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 33:31SPEAKER_12: I you know, I'm not gonna play it.
- 33:32SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna I was gonna look up Shadow King.
- 33:34SPEAKER_12: But anyway.
- 33:35SPEAKER_12: It was a it was a transitional thing uh for both guys.
- 33:39SPEAKER_12: And it was a great album.
- 33:41SPEAKER_12: I've heard some of the songs on it, and it's very melodic rock.
- 33:44SPEAKER_12: And uh I think the record company just didn't get behind it or something happened.
- 33:48SPEAKER_12: I can't rem I can't remember what the what the thing was there, but um so anyway, they're still friends, obviously, because Lou Graham asked uh Vivian to play on it, and he did.
- 33:59SPEAKER_12: So the song is called Young Love, and it says the 10-song album comprises songs that date back to the 80s when the original Foreigner Frontman released his first two solo albums.
- 34:10SPEAKER_12: So these are old songs that he just got around to recording, which is kind of cool.
- 34:15SPEAKER_12: So they should have some some sort of retro vibe to them.
- 34:19SPEAKER_12: So this is Young Love, Lou Graham.
- 34:31SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 34:32SPEAKER_12: That's got an 80s vibe.
- 34:34SPEAKER_16: It's got a Barry Forger vibe too, too.
- 34:36SPEAKER_16: Yep.
- 34:37SPEAKER_04: Take a trail of tears that leads to nowhere.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: Nowhere took me miles away.
- 34:44SPEAKER_12: Now wait a minute.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: It stole my heart when I was just a kid.
- 34:48SPEAKER_04: Now it seems like only Okay, I gotta clarify something.
- 34:53SPEAKER_12: This is not a new Lou Graham album because he doesn't sound like that anymore.
- 34:58SPEAKER_12: I mean, he sounds great.
- 35:00SPEAKER_12: He sings great.
- 35:01SPEAKER_16: Well, I'm sure this is vocals from back then.
- 35:03SPEAKER_16: It is, yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, okay.
- 35:05SPEAKER_12: Well, I'm just clarifying.
- 35:06SPEAKER_12: It says my new album release is a collection of unreleased songs that were recorded in the 1980s during the production of my three previous solo albums.
- 35:13SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 35:13SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I was about to say, because he sounds fantastic.
- 35:16SPEAKER_12: It's like it's like and he sounds good today, he just doesn't sound like this.
- 35:19SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 35:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: That's the day.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: How could I think that love's the game?
- 35:25SPEAKER_03: A game we would never lose.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: This will never be the same.
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: Another gonna make I love it.
- 35:52SPEAKER_12: I love it.
- 35:53SPEAKER_12: Like it a lot.
- 35:54SPEAKER_12: Um, so Lou Graham said these are powerful, heartfelt songs with a great vintage sound taken right from my old multi-track tapes.
- 36:02SPEAKER_12: This new album was a long time coming, and it's a real nostalgia trip.
- 36:05SPEAKER_12: Uh, when I pulled these songs out of the vault, I knew I had to finish them for my fans around the world so they can experience what I did when I first heard them after all these years.
- 36:13SPEAKER_12: It means a lot to me to finally see this album released, to be taken back in time when I hear this music again, to remember working with all these great musicians, and to feel that my catalog is now complete.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: Wow, I might have to pick this up.
- 36:36SPEAKER_16: Good, man.
- 36:36SPEAKER_16: I like this.
- 36:39SPEAKER_16: Any indication what the album's gonna be like?
- 36:40SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 36:41SPEAKER_12: Uh very 80s vibe, which you know we've been talking about how we love that.
- 36:46SPEAKER_12: Um so this is an interesting one.
- 36:49SPEAKER_12: Megadeth have released a new song.
- 36:52SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, they did a cover of uh Ride the Lightning.
- 36:55SPEAKER_16: Ride the Lightning.
- 36:56SPEAKER_16: Yeah, this ought to be interesting.
- 36:57SPEAKER_12: Uh have you heard it?
- 36:58SPEAKER_12: No.
- 36:58SPEAKER_12: I have not either.
- 36:59SPEAKER_12: Uh, so we'll be we'll hear it together.
- 37:03SPEAKER_12: Um the final album, uh, Megadeth, which is the title track, is out now, it says.
- 37:11SPEAKER_12: So it's available now?
- 37:12SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 37:13SPEAKER_12: What am I waiting for?
- 37:14SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 37:15SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, so this is their version of Ride the Light.
- 38:53SPEAKER_16: Just curious what I wonder if he I wonder if he wrote that riff.
- 38:56SPEAKER_16: I would imagine.
- 38:57SPEAKER_16: Because I mean it's on the second album, and they used a lot of his I think he said that.
- 39:01SPEAKER_12: I think he was in a podcast interview with Sean Ryan, and I think he mentioned that that's his riff.
- 39:08SPEAKER_16: Uh it what it wouldn't surprise me.
- 39:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 39:10SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_16: Um that's probably why they let him.
- 39:13SPEAKER_16: Yeah, well, he put this on the name was on it.
- 39:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah, probably.
- 39:16SPEAKER_16: I mean, absolutely, yeah.
- 39:17SPEAKER_12: Um, what are your thoughts on it?
- 39:19SPEAKER_16: I like it.
- 39:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah?
- 39:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 39:20SPEAKER_12: Obviously, you like Metallica's better.
- 39:23SPEAKER_16: Just because you're Well, I mean, I'm partial to the Metallica version, but I mean, this is pretty good.
- 39:29SPEAKER_12: Uh, so this is a bonus track.
- 39:32SPEAKER_12: I didn't realize that.
- 39:33SPEAKER_12: So let me just give you the track listing for the new Megadeth album.
- 39:36SPEAKER_12: Tipping point.
- 39:37SPEAKER_12: Uh, I don't care.
- 39:38SPEAKER_12: Hey God, let there be shred, puppet parade, another bad day, made to kill, obey the call, I am war.
- 39:47SPEAKER_12: The last note, and of course, this bonus track of Ride the Lightning.
- 39:51SPEAKER_12: So and that is out now.
- 39:53SPEAKER_12: So yeah.
- 39:56SPEAKER_12: I would imagine he wrote that.
- 39:58SPEAKER_16: I I wouldn't be surprised.
- 40:00SPEAKER_16: Wouldn't be surprised at all.
- 40:01SPEAKER_16: Uh that, you know, those first two metallic albums, I'm surprised.
- 40:05SPEAKER_16: I'm surprised.
- 40:06SPEAKER_16: I'm pretty sure he probably wrote majority of those riffs.
- 40:10SPEAKER_16: Let me just uh uh let's see.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 40:22SPEAKER_12: See if it says anything in here.
- 40:26SPEAKER_12: Uh before entering the studio, Metallica collected ideas on rift tape recordings of various jam sessions.
- 40:40SPEAKER_12: Hetfield and Ulrich went through the tapes and selected the strongest rifts to assemble into songs.
- 40:45SPEAKER_12: Together they recorded the basic tracks live, only rhythm guitar and drums.
- 40:49SPEAKER_12: With Kirk Hammett and Cliff Burton adding their parts later.
- 40:54SPEAKER_12: Um does it even say in here?
- 41:03SPEAKER_12: Okay, here we go.
- 41:06SPEAKER_12: Musical writers apply the Ride the Lightning exhibits.
- 41:08SPEAKER_12: Great musical maturity.
- 41:13SPEAKER_12: Doesn't say anything about Dave Mustaine in this one.
- 41:18SPEAKER_12: Oh, here we go.
- 41:20SPEAKER_12: Ride the Lightning is Metallica's first song to have emphasized the misery of the criminal justice system.
- 41:25SPEAKER_12: The lyrics are in the perspective of a death row inmate anticipating execution by the electric chair.
- 41:29SPEAKER_12: The song, one of the two album tracks that credits Mustaine, begins in a mid-tempo, uh, which gradually accelerates as the song progresses.
- 41:38SPEAKER_12: What's the other one that he did on that album?
- 41:43SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 41:43SPEAKER_12: I don't know what the other one is that uh Mustaine has his uh I bet you I can find out here.
- 41:49SPEAKER_12: It goes into it goes into quite a bit of detail about some of these.
- 41:53SPEAKER_12: Uh oh, here we go.
- 42:00SPEAKER_12: The call of Cthulhu Cthulhu, tentatively titled When Hell Freezes Over, was inspired by HP Lovecraft's book The Shadow Over Inns Mouth, which was introduced to the rest of the band by Burton.
- 42:12SPEAKER_12: The title was taken from one of Lovecraft's key stories, uh featuring I'm not even gonna pronounce that.
- 42:18SPEAKER_12: Um the track begins with a D minor chord progression in the intro, written by Mustaine.
- 42:24SPEAKER_12: He later reused the chord structure on Megadeth track Hangar 18.
- 42:28SPEAKER_12: Ah, yes, okay.
- 42:30SPEAKER_12: That makes a lot of sense.
- 42:31SPEAKER_12: Okay, yeah.
- 42:32SPEAKER_12: Makes a lot of sense.
- 42:33SPEAKER_12: That's just it's just kind of cool to think about, you know, how that all those things are connected.
- 42:37SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 42:38SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 42:38SPEAKER_16: You know, it would have been cool for m uh Mustaine to do to do because he, you know, he did that Metallica song.
- 42:44SPEAKER_16: He should have done an anthrax song and a Slayer song.
- 42:48SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, like the big four.
- 42:51SPEAKER_12: So um oh, you know what?
- 42:53SPEAKER_12: I I should have another uh link open here because we're gonna go to some listener mail again.
- 42:58SPEAKER_16: Yay!
- 42:59SPEAKER_12: And we'll just do a few of these.
- 43:05SPEAKER_12: Uh some of these Well, I'm not gonna we're not gonna play them all.
- 43:10SPEAKER_12: Correct.
- 43:11SPEAKER_12: So let's do this.
- 43:12SPEAKER_12: Don't be cruel.
- 43:14SPEAKER_12: Cheap Trick did it.
- 43:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_12: And I liked it.
- 43:17SPEAKER_12: I do too.
- 43:18SPEAKER_12: Um would you like it over the original?
- 43:24SPEAKER_16: It's a really close tie.
- 43:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but you know, and I was gonna say I I usually like the original better, but Cheap Trick's version.
- 43:33SPEAKER_16: It's it's lighter.
- 43:34SPEAKER_16: It's lighter and it's more fun.
- 43:36SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 43:37SPEAKER_12: Uh and it it's produced more, obviously.
- 43:40SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 43:40SPEAKER_16: So But I mean, you know, you can't go wrong with So I I'm I'm with you.
- 43:48SPEAKER_12: I I I put those kind of uh They're pretty they're pretty doggone close.
- 43:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:52SPEAKER_12: Uh speaking of Cheap Trick, uh I want you to want me.
- 43:55SPEAKER_12: Dwight Yoakum did a cover.
- 43:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_12: Cheap trick.
- 43:58SPEAKER_12: I'm going Cheap Trick as well.
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: I liked about Yokum, but not for that.
- 44:02SPEAKER_12: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Elton John's version versus the Beatles.
- 44:06SPEAKER_12: Beatles.
- 44:06SPEAKER_12: I will always go with the Beatles.
- 44:07SPEAKER_12: Always go with the Beatles.
- 44:08SPEAKER_12: Always go with the Beatles.
- 44:10SPEAKER_12: Nobody's gonna have Beatles the Beatles.
- 44:13SPEAKER_12: Killing Me Softly.
- 44:14SPEAKER_12: The Fujies and Roberta Flack.
- 44:16SPEAKER_16: Now Roberta Flack.
- 44:17SPEAKER_16: Although the Fuji one is really good.
- 44:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah, Lauren Hill did a great job on it.
- 44:21SPEAKER_12: It is good, but Roberta Flack all day.
- 44:23SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 44:24SPEAKER_12: Speaking of the Beatles.
- 44:26SPEAKER_12: I just I guess I didn't remember this version here.
- 44:33SPEAKER_12: So we know this song, obviously.
- 44:35SPEAKER_12: One of my favorite, probably my favorite Beatles song.
- 44:39SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah, no.
- 44:42SPEAKER_12: Have you seen this cover?
- 44:43SPEAKER_12: I have.
- 44:45SPEAKER_12: I have, yeah.
- 44:47SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 44:48SPEAKER_12: So did you know that there's a cover of this?
- 44:52SPEAKER_16: Well, I know Sean Connery did a version of it.
- 44:59SPEAKER_12: Probably one of my favorite Beatles songs.
- 45:01SPEAKER_16: Yeah, there's mine.
- 45:03SPEAKER_21: Some forever, not for better.
- 45:08SPEAKER_21: Some have gone, and some remain.
- 45:13SPEAKER_21: Always played after a moment.
- 45:18SPEAKER_21: With lovers and friends, I still can recall.
- 45:22SPEAKER_21: Some are dead and some are living.
- 45:27SPEAKER_21: In my life, I love them all.
- 45:31SPEAKER_12: Alright, so there's that.
- 45:33SPEAKER_12: Obviously, I'm going with the Beatles.
- 45:35SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 45:36SPEAKER_12: I usually go with the Beatles, but I've never heard this, so I'm Aussie?
- 45:42SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 45:43SPEAKER_12: What?
- 45:51SPEAKER_20: There are places I remember.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: I like this actually.
- 45:58SPEAKER_20: Oh my life.
- 46:02SPEAKER_20: Those sums have changed.
- 46:05SPEAKER_20: Some forever not far better.
- 46:12SPEAKER_20: Some have gone and some remain.
- 46:19SPEAKER_20: All these places have them moments with lovers and friends.
- 46:29SPEAKER_20: I still can recall some ideas of my living.
- 46:40SPEAKER_20: In my life.
- 46:46SPEAKER_12: I like that.
- 46:47SPEAKER_12: That's good.
- 46:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:49SPEAKER_12: It's good.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: Well, he was a he was a Beatles freak.
- 46:56SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 46:57SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 46:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:01SPEAKER_12: Well done, John Osborne.
- 47:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that was uh that was nice.
- 47:05SPEAKER_12: I uh I enjoyed that.
- 47:06SPEAKER_12: I'd never heard that before.
- 47:07SPEAKER_12: Uh let's do a couple more.
- 47:09SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna say uh he's Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed.
- 47:16SPEAKER_12: Uh, and the Cowboy Junkies.
- 47:19SPEAKER_12: Now, I'm not even gonna play them.
- 47:20SPEAKER_12: Because it's Velvet Underground and Lou Reed, I'm just gonna say neither one.
- 47:24SPEAKER_12: It was like, nope, nope, either one.
- 47:26SPEAKER_12: Uh we're not big fans of Lou Reed.
- 47:30SPEAKER_12: Uh let's see.
- 47:32SPEAKER_12: Proud Mary.
- 47:33SPEAKER_12: Icantina Turner, Cringe Clearwater Revival.
- 47:39SPEAKER_12: They're both great and they're and they're just different enough.
- 47:42SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:42SPEAKER_12: Like to be like a completely different song.
- 47:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:45SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 47:46SPEAKER_12: No, I enjoy both each other.
- 47:47SPEAKER_12: I do too.
- 47:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'm gonna say that as well.
- 47:49SPEAKER_12: Uh Michael Jackson, Smooth Criminal, and Alien Ant Farmer.
- 47:54SPEAKER_16: I gotta go with MJ.
- 47:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we do.
- 47:55SPEAKER_16: I mean, I mean, I like Alien Ant Farmers.
- 47:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's good, but I gotta go MJ.
- 48:00SPEAKER_12: Uh Rocket in the Free World.
- 48:01SPEAKER_12: Neil Young or Pearl J.
- 48:03SPEAKER_16: I was gonna say Bon Jovi.
- 48:06SPEAKER_12: Oh well, yeah, they did do a cover that didn't.
- 48:10SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 48:11SPEAKER_12: I don't like either of them.
- 48:13SPEAKER_16: I'm gonna go with Neil Young.
- 48:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I think I would too.
- 48:16SPEAKER_12: Alright, this one I have to play.
- 48:26SPEAKER_12: I'm pretty sure you haven't heard that.
- 49:09SPEAKER_12: We don't need to go the whole through the whole thing.
- 49:11SPEAKER_12: So this is the original Black Sabbath's Iron Man.
- 49:15SPEAKER_12: And obviously, I think I'm gonna go with that, but I've never heard this version, so I would like to play it.
- 49:27unknown: I am Iron Man.
- 49:32SPEAKER_12: Who is this?
- 49:36SPEAKER_12: Do you remember that song?
- 49:37SPEAKER_12: Love me, love me.
- 49:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's this is the cardigans.
- 49:43SPEAKER_09: He lost his mind.
- 49:51SPEAKER_12: Bob, you pulled this one out of somewhere.
- 49:53SPEAKER_12: I'm not sure.
- 49:54SPEAKER_16: Do you hear that?
- 49:58SPEAKER_16: Do you do you hear that?
- 49:59SPEAKER_12: Somebody turning over in their grave?
- 50:01SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 50:02SPEAKER_16: Ozzy's in like full spin mode right now.
- 50:11SPEAKER_16: I've heard a lot of covers of Iron Man.
- 50:15SPEAKER_16: This is down there.
- 50:18SPEAKER_09: Down there.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 50:27SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 50:29SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 50:30SPEAKER_16: That's no.
- 50:32SPEAKER_16: No, just no.
- 50:34SPEAKER_16: If I had a newspaper, I'd roll it up and hit it in the nose.
- 50:36SPEAKER_16: No!
- 50:39SPEAKER_12: Alright, so that's great.
- 50:41SPEAKER_12: We'll stop there for that one.
- 50:43SPEAKER_12: Because we have some other business we got to do.
- 50:46SPEAKER_12: Oh we got movie time! Movie time! We don't have any special music for.
- 50:50SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, we do.
- 50:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we got that background that Synca Well, we didn't keep it, but I'm gonna say uh 80s.
- 50:57SPEAKER_12: Uh I should I should keep it.
- 51:01SPEAKER_12: Uh so that we can use it every time.
- 51:05SPEAKER_12: This is it though, right here, right?
- 51:07SPEAKER_12: Yep, that was it.
- 51:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 51:10SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 51:11SPEAKER_16: Right?

- 1:10:18SPEAKER_12: Do that because yeah.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah, start doing that.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah, well, so I think we got our wish.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_16: We did, the Patriots and Patriots and uh Seahawks.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_16: Yep.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_16: So quite a game.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_16: Quite a game.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_12: For a while.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_12: I couldn't decide who to who to pull for because I do like Matt Stafford.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah, you can't you can't help but pull for the guy.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_12: But uh he's a good guy.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_12: And I and I think that the Patriots would have had an easier time against LA.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_12: I mean, they would it would have been a challenge.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_12: I think the Patriots are gonna have their their uh Well it's gonna be it's gonna be a battle.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_16: I think it's gonna be a good Super Bowl.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_12: I think it's gonna be a defensive game.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_16: It's gonna be like the the the the Bronco game.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you know, just all defense and bad weather.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_16: But I don't think they're not gonna have to deal with bad weather, so where is it?
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_16: Uh I don't know where it is, actually.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_16: I'm sure it's somewhere warm and under a dome, so that's gonna be that.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_12: Um Yeah.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_12: It was a good game.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_12: It was a good game.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_12: Alright, um, are you ready?
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_12: I have uh uh an album.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_16: You have an album for the guessing begin! Is it a band?
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_16: Is it a rock band?
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_12: Invisible time.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_12: This was this was a huge album.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_12: Uh came out in nineteen eighty-six.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_12: Uh let me see if I can pull this out here.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_12: Um this was we we were talking about uh eighties production value, and this is right smack in the middle of the eighties production value.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_12: Uh electric drums, you know, you name it, they they did it.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_12: But these guys were virtuoso uh musicians.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_16: Oh, heck yeah.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_12: So this is the first thing that came from this album.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_12: There's so many hits on this album.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_12: I'm not gonna spend a lot of time on the hits because we did that on the greatest hits one.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_16: This is the this is the fourth time we've done Genesis.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_16: Have we done this album?
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_16: Well, it's the fourth time we've done Genesis.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_16: Not necessarily this album.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_16: What other Genesis albums do I have?
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_12: Is it really the fourth time?
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_12: Okay, I'll just go through We like Genesis! I'll just go through these really quick.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_12: Tonight, tonight, tonight.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_12: Just gonna play the the hit songs really.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_16: At least not whatever that is in the background is weird.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_12: That's Tony Banks.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_12: Land of Confusion.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_12: I love this song, man.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_01: This just shows you how big this album really was.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_01: These were huge songs.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_12: Um got a ballad.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_16: Great song.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_12: In too deep is this one.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_16: That's what she said.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_12: One, two, three, four, five.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_12: I think there's six hit songs on this album, and there's only nine.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_12: There's only eight songs on the album.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_12: I was about to say there's only there's not that many on there.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_12: Only eight songs.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_12: So this one was a minor hit.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_05: Anything she does, all right, and then this one.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_12: So these are this is the last hit that came from this album.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_12: This is a great song as well.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_12: Throwing it all away.
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_12: But a far cry from their progressive rock roots.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_08: Oh, right?
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, like night and day.
- 1:17:05SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_12: Um, and so the other two songs that are on here, uh, speaking of progressive rock, they have a song called Domino, which is in two parts, very like kind of like their old days.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_12: But it's very electronic.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_12: But it's great.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_12: And this song is 10 minutes and 45 seconds long.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_16: I don't know what it was with the 70s and I know.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_16: Rush, Genesis, they all did these massive like 10-20 minute songs.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_08: No, but she's not there.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_16: I think the only band that still does is Dream Theater.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_16: Even and even they've cut down a lot.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_16: So, yeah.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_12: I just want to play a piece of this because this musically, this is just a piece of art.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_12: Again, very electronic.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_12: But so this is the first part of the song called In the Glow of the Night.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, this is this is where it goes into part two, which is called the last domino.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_12: I just love this.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_12: I love this composition.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_12: Uh, and then the last last song on the album is an instrumental called the Brazilian.
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_12: Like the wax.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_12: No, because then somebody would be yelling in the background.
- 1:20:31SPEAKER_12: But I mean, your album had eight songs on it and six of them were hits.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_16: I'd say that's a pretty successful album.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I would say so.
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_12: So if if we've done this album before, I apologize, but uh, I just picked it and I do love Genesis.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_12: So this is Invincible Touch.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_12: Deal with it.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_12: From uh 1986.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_12: Uh good stuff.
- 1:20:55SPEAKER_12: I guess I was in an 80s mood uh this week.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we talked a lot of 80s today.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_12: We did.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_12: We did, which is okay.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_12: Um 80s kind of night.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_12: Uh alright, so that's it.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_12: That is episode 576.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_12: Did I say 576?
- 1:21:11SPEAKER_12: 276.
- 1:21:12SPEAKER_12: Where the heck did you get five?
- 1:21:15SPEAKER_16: Maybe it feels like that.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_16: When did we do 300 episodes in the last hour?
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_16: We did.
- 1:21:24SPEAKER_16: We did mini one-second episodes.
- 1:21:27SPEAKER_01: Episode 276 is what I meant to say.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_01: That's better.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, so let's do this.
- 1:21:34SPEAKER_12: Uh until next time, I'm O'Brien.
