Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football priests, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographic location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's a state of being.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: It is the mile high hotel podcast on your host Chad Jensen with me my fellow football priest You know him you love him Zach Kelberman and Zach it's of course, you know in this instance my fault that we're an hour late because I went out of town this weekend a little getaway and
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get back home till about an hour ago and so you know it takes a little time get the stream connected get all the ducks in a row.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: So here we are.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: We were going to leave you guys without a show.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're making it happen.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: But Zach, you know, I was a little bit unplugged the last couple of days.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I was keeping an eye on things but not monitoring it minute to minute like I do.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, 360 of the 365 every every year, but I couldn't help but notice did not escape my observation the Bronco still have not done squat that right that everybody's mystified its unprecedented
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think the sting and of how bizarre it is has started to kind of wear off for most folks.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: How are you feeling about things as we now get ready to look into this next week, which what would you call the third the fourth week fourth wave of free agency?
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was going to say you picked a good time to get a way, Chad, because literally the Broncos did nothing, they're still sitting on their hands, they're holding firm to their belief of not needing any external free agents right now, because they're the only team in the NFL that is yet to sign one, I'm with you.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm less angry now about it and where I was last week, I'm more like fascinated.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mystified.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: And where they're going to take this, how far they're going to take this, how long they're going to go without signing one outside for agent.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to happen eventually, Chad, it has to, you know, at some point, I want to see though when it's going to happen, then again, I would be surprised we wake up tomorrow and they execute some big trade for receiver or tight end.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's something is coming.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: It has to be.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: It has to be.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: The irony is this so I was a way doing a little fun get away with some of my best buddies playing some music our band we got to a really big opportunity to play at the punk rock museum in in Las Vegas so we got away and Zach when I booked that.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: the museum reached out like it was in October, September.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then like, yeah, we want you a March 14th if you can swing it.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking, I'm like, yeah, that should be all right.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Totally not even thinking, end of free agency week.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: As we're approaching free agency week, and I know I got this weekend coming up.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going, boy, boy, did I perhaps pick the worst possible weekend in March to accept this opportunity?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: And yet Zach, you know, it was too late to back out and so how ironic is it nothing happened, but you know, I'm with you, there's got to be something more to this than meets the eye.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, obviously, right, like George Peyton, Sean Peyton, they're not going to at any point just, you know, you know what, let's go ahead and take to the podium, unprompted, call a press conference, spill the beans on what our vision is like that's not going to happen, but I'd love to be a fly on the wall.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: and have like even an inkling Zach of what the heck they're thinking.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's related to the compensatory picks from losing some of their for agents like JFM.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's been a theory and really we have nothing else to go on.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: I've done solo shows, I've done KK, I've done Pogs with you Chad, and we've theorized and speculated as to why the Broncos are being so conservative, why the Broncos are sitting on their hands, why they're not being opportunistically aggressive as they promise they would be from Greg Pender and George Payton.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what else to say.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: It goes from levels of practicality, like maybe it's the compensatory thing.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: two levels of conspiratorial like maybe Sean Payton's trying to screw boneics or Davis Web because we have nothing else to go on.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing has happened in the time that we've last recorded together.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty sad and it's in itself.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: It is just so, so strange.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, as time marches on, what hangs in the balance is Bonyx, year three, this team is now facing obviously a first place schedule in 2026.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not as panicked about that as some of our dear friends in the superstar community and just some fans are,
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not as worried about that because I think the Broncos grew so they took so many steps forward last year as is the team as is that I think they're capable of taking it on and still being competitive and coming out on top in more cases than they don't.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: But Bownex, man, he needs to take that one next big step.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he has been so impressive 24 wins through his first two years.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: All the stats, like you guys, especially in January after he got hurt.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, we spent a lot of time celebrating just how.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: prolific and productive and just awesome bonyx has been for this team, but we also know because we know football and we have eyes that it hasn't always been perfectly smooth, hasn't always been pretty where it looks like everything's firing on all cylinders.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a far cry from Star Wars numbers and yet he's a quarterback exact with a coach and a system that we've seen produced that kind of those kind of numbers in years past with different players obviously.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think he can get there, but he needs the right, I think he's got the right coaching and we're all excited about the opportunity to see Davis web calling the plays form, but he's missing that one or two pieces weapons wise on offense.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: And as you guys know, last thing and I'm serving it back to you, I'm one of the guys that's at least down on the JK Dobbins resigning, but it's just not enough, dude, it's just not enough.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody always talks about, well, you know, the patent mannings and the Tom Brady's, they didn't need a lead players around them if it's a true franchise quarterback.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's not necessarily true because when patent manning was playing those teams, they played four of the Colton, the Broncos, they both won out and got high level receivers.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Tom Brady got Randy Freakin Moss on the O7 Patriots team.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: So that argument goes out the window.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: every quarterback needs weapons, every quarterback needs reliable weapons at that.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: And Bonaix doesn't have either.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: Cortland Sutton is a wide receiver too at best.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: And that's his best weapon is Cortland Sutton.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: His other receivers literally can't catch.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And Sean Peyton talked about that in his year-end press conference, and has done nothing, nothing to remedy it.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what else to go on, Chad.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Either they have something waiting.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: They're focusing on the draft or that riff between Bonaix's ankle is still continuing.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what else to say.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I'm going crazy.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's weird.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the problem with Sutton as your primary with your wide receiver core as is based on what we know and have seen from them thus far.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Teams can take certain away and you know all they got to do is put a little help over the top and it's not that boat won't look as way it's not that he won't get a, you know, make some plays here and there, but they can scheme to take Portland away and at this stage, the Broncos have not.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: We believe that we do have one, two, maybe more than that of these guys, but they're still in Christmas.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: They're still developing.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we think some of it could be as soon as this year then bust and out, right?
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: But it's, you know, hey, as much as we know that this is a what have you done for me lately, Lee exact.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's also, and I think it's NFL front offices should approach the vision this way and plan accordingly, I believe it when I see it Lee as well.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: that's a really good point exactly.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I see some people in the comments saying, you know, like Todd saying they're waiting until the draft.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that might be the case, Todd, like what is an
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: But if that's a problem in itself, at least to me, if they are employing that strategy because it wreaks of arrogance.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: It wreaks of overconfidence that we can wait.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: We don't need to add anyone.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're good enough where our draft scouts are better.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: We can survive solely on a draft.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: No, you have to supplement your team with talent in the free agent pool and the Broncos shows not to do that.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Building through the draft is fine, but free agency exists for a reason.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: And there were players that could have helped out the quarterback and helped their team win more games.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: They failed in that department.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, let's say what's up to the folks he was cooking.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: We got the Papa bear checking in on super chat at dear member whose birthday was just a couple days ago was it Friday or was it sad I think it was Friday wasn't it?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: Papa bear so happy belated.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: I know I gave you the shout on Facebook, but happy birthday to you guys belated.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's saying good evening Broncos country hashtag god bless the USA.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go bow let's go bow indeed.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, the farther we get into 2026, the more it's looking like.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: all the chips are going to be reliant almost entirely on on bow.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: We got David T also checking in another team member.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you are doing well, buddy.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Back home, getting back on your feet too.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: He says, hi, guys, what do you think of Randall the former running or former wide receivers that turned running back from Clemson in the draft?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: I like the idea of complimenting who they have, but David, this is going to be maybe an answer you're not looking for.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still a little dismayed.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't do more on the open market for a veteran.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm mostly there with Chad.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy that JK Dobbins did return.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: The money is a little more than I thought Denver would pay Dobbins in the end, but I do like that he's back
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought they could have done more with another player that offers them a higher ceiling and higher floor.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: But now that that's, you know, aside, they're not going to go that route.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: I would like this player, this prospect, because he would allow them to have some sort of ceiling, because listen, we know what J.K. Dobbins is.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: We know, basically, who RJ Harvey is at this point, and Tather Bedane McLaughlin and all of them.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know, obviously, Randall.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I like having some ceiling in that room.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I would like it, David.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: So here's what's cool.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know much about Adam Randall going into, you know, the draft season.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: And when I went to the senior bowl, means Scott and I, he basically brought him to my attention.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, you know, he's a tall kind of long running back.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: and he he looked he runs pretty high.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's still very new to the position being a former wide receiver, but I don't think he'll be hearing his name called Zack too early in the draft.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: He'll get drafted, but you know, it'll be a bit later and I'm not sure he's necessarily
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: the right fit because he wasn't that good of a receiver like he doesn't have the greatest hands that's why he moved to running back and he's still learning the position.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: I honestly think it would be who the Broncos especially going alright.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: We got JK coming back two years but you know one year at worst like if he ends up
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: getting hurt again.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: We're only in this one more year.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: We got RJ who we're going to say publicly Zach is future three down back, but we've kind of realized, hence the money we just gave JK Dobbins.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: We can't rely on him to be that from down to down.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: We need a guy who can essentially not only be that backup plan for JK, but perhaps the successor, even though JK is still pretty young, he's only
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Washington, Jr., trying to get that cat if he's still there, and I bet he will be, although one shocked me because he tested so ridiculously off the charts at the combine.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: But if he's there at 30, man, don't overthink it, draft that dude.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: right there with you.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's a great shout.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Washington would fit Sean Peyton.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: And now I guess I could say Davis Web's offense like a glove and really, really help out bonus because that's what he needs.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately, after bringing back Dobbins, the Broncos don't necessarily have to back themselves into a corner where they have to go running back early.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: They have some sort of fail save with Dobbins who knows the offense and they will take a back at some point.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm right there with you, Chad.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Washington would be intriguing.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: And last thing really quickly, David said,
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think the free agent running backs were asking too much piggybacking off what I said.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, David, because Algier got what, six million a year.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: I would have done that in a heartbeat, a heartbeat.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I honestly, a heartbeat before I gave JK Dobbins up to 10 million a year.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: So that wasn't the case necessarily, David.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's the fact that Broncos just didn't want those free agents and they like their own including JK Dobbins.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're honestly just way more confident in JK Dobbins outlook as, hey, I'm finally gonna break the curse thing and stay healthy.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're just way more confident in that and it gives me some hope in the sense that, hey, they're the ones caring for him during his recovery.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: They're the ones leading him through all this.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: He said, and I'm gonna read this here in a moment that, you know, he's been with two other teams.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's been hurt multiple times throughout his football career
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: that the Broncos strength, wellness, conditioning, all that stuff, the bow lowery side of operations is the best he's ever been around.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so the Broncos act there airing on the side of we believe this is the year he avoids the big costly injury.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it was really cool.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: He penned Zach Ureau Thesup for the website.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth a read guys.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Go read the JK Dobbins story, Zach wrote.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: But here's what he said.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: He took to X and he penned this quote.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: To my Denver Broncos, when I signed in 2024, you guys knew of me, but you didn't fully know me yet, fast forward to now or family.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: First, thank you to the Walton's and Paners for believing in me and for being the best owners in the NFL.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm grateful for the opportunity and the trust you've put in me.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: To our GM, I'm blessed to be on this ride with the best GM in the league.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: You've had my back and you've put your trust in me and I promise I've got you.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: I won't let you down.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: To my head coach, Sean Payton, from day one, I knew you were the coach for me.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: You've had my back the whole time, no matter what, I'm going to repay that trust by becoming one of the best backs in this league to all the other coaches on staff.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: Stay with me, everybody.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: You make it easy to come to work every day because of the belief and trust you've shown in me.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: And the training staff here is the best I've been around always ready for anything and they've had my backs since the beginning too.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a business.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, some people say you're not supposed to show emotion or love this love in this game.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not how it is here.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's not how it's been for me in Denver.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: From the moment I stepped foot in Colorado, I knew I was a Bronco.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Signing here again is just a beginning of something special with this team and with these fans, the sky is the limit.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Close quote on that.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: So Zack,
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: you know, he's feeling like this is his this is this is it like this is my opportunity to finally prove and I've got the right supporting cast not just like the players around him in the coaches, but like the infrastructure to keep me on the field.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love hearing this from JK and I love how he leads it there to my Denver Broncos.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's funny Chad the amount of players that have taken ownership of Denver since coming to the Broncos and that's sort of really with Peyton Manning making that his team and kind of forgetting about the goals and Indianapolis but I do like hearing this from JK.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great locker room guy.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great fan favorite.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's a good player when he's healthy.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: I have no problem with JK.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: I had a problem maybe with the salary they were paying him.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like to me, Melvin Gordon, where I had a problem with the player because he kept fumbling.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: The only problem I have is not talent related with JK now, but I just wish he would stay healthy.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: When he's healthy, he's a potential top five running back.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I love the fact that he returned.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: I love his vigor and his enthusiasm for the Broncos and the city and this and that.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: We just can't rely on him to stay healthy for all 17 games.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: So going forward, they can't put all the rags in JK's basket.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: They should have learned that from last season.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: and RJ is just not ready guys and until he shows you his ret he's ready.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot go into a season expecting that if that you got to turn to him now he's suddenly going to be ready.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got to let him show you that without the need of desperation forcing you to hopefully see it, right?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: You got to
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: glad to happen organically and it seems like that's going to happen.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be in the draft, right?
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to go sign another running back, but there are some interesting guys potentially still out there that we'll talk about here in a little bit.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: Let's grab Taylor Christensen, another deer member in Bona Fideschek and then on Super Chat.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you pal.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: He says at this point fellas, I'm looking forward to the draft for agencies pretty much done.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: I like Rodriguez, the linebacker, Texas tech.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think, and Sadik or Sadik in the first round, I believe in Beau, go Denver Broncos.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: So Sadik, man, he's just not gonna be there for us, Taylor, like he's just not gonna be there on the board at Pick 30.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, I see the basically the latest he'll be there.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely like, oh my gosh, he fell.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's like 20, that's like the absolute worst.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: So unless the Broncos were interested in trading up,
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't see that happen in the way they're protecting these picks and everything like these comp picks they're expecting to get in the formula from John Franklin Myers, which I've heard conflicting things that initially fourth rounder, I've heard from others, oh, it's going to be it could be a third rounder.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think probably fourth rounder is the safest bet.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then of course, there is a chance they get a seventh rounder from PJ Lock.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: So my point here is they're like, that's obviously informing their approach here, the vision in free agency to some extent, which I think Zack is been planned around for months.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's part of the reason they didn't even approach Jeff.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even talk to them about what it might take to get him signed because they were looking at a draft pick two years from now.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy and forget about Jay of them here if that's the case.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's not even about him.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great player.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love this time in Denver.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy he got his bag, but it's about bonus.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: Everything the Broncos do from this point forward should be about number 10.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: They're franchise quarterback, boat, Chapman Nix.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: And for a potential third round pick to a ignore adding a running back or a tight end or receive or someone to help out.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: Bonyx is a dereliction of duty as far as I'm concerned.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sorry Taylor to you that you have to be just doing this now and washing your hands until the draft.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: It shouldn't be.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: There is some talent out there.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: David and Jocos, far as I'm concerned, he's still out there.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: No reason the Brock West can't sign.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but oh, wait.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: They gave Adam Troutman $18 million over three years.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: Chad was right though with what he said.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: Sadik is unless they trade up, he's not going to be there.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Although I say to myself, listen, you didn't do anything else.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't spend any money, you didn't trade for anybody else.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Why not go get Kenny and Sadik.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: But that would require helping out your quarterback.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: And they have no interest right now in doing that.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: It seems crazy, crazy, crazy.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just the mixed signals, you know, you got so close, what do teams in the NFL do when they're that close?
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: They reload and try to get over the hump, right?
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: And look, the Broncos had a lot of free agents this year, was like, I think counting ERFAs and restricted guys, I think it was a total of 22.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: They brought back 17 of them.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: So we, you know, if you wanted to bring back a good portion of those guys, you knew it was gonna consume a lot of your cap, that's understandable,
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Move necessary to get over that help.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now doesn't mean you can't steal that get over that home, but in order to do so what you're betting on is the development and progress of the team as is and you know a lot will ride on the last two draft classes
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: And then if this is how it kind of stays throughout this offseason, guys, it's going to put some undue pressure on this draft class coming in to step in and perhaps be contributors, maybe a little early.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Now, this team likes to find, you know, seniors, guys who've played all four years in college, you guys who were team captains, leaders, stuff like that, because they have enough experience and football character and IQ that the team can feel relatively confident that they can.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: be relied upon sooner rather than later, but it's not a perfect science to draft, you know, it's not that easy to get all the guys that you like and want to fall to you when your turn to make a pick.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, we'll see Taylor, big dog, we shall see how it shakes out, brother, but I like both those guys as well, Rod Riggas, I'm not sure 100%.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: That, uh,
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: He would be great for pick 30, but I would love him.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love him in the second round.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: Storm blessed in the house.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you pal.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing well.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: Dear member saying, Hey, priest, should we just talk about the draft at this point with the lack of moves and free agency?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like they're planning on building through the draft.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's kind of
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: At a certain point, Zach, we start looking like we're not facing reality by continuing to like create podcast titled around free agency and free agents that are available like we've done tonight, but it's still in the first week.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not going to feel too guilty about it.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it has been Zach and unprecedented never before seen at least not in recent Canada since free agency became a thing approach from the Denver Broncos.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wrap my head around in storm.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: I literally can't.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: I know I should, and I realize what the brakas are doing, or potentially what they're doing.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: There's a bunch of different scenarios that could be playing out here, but it's still baffling to think.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: Even Mike Clistchett, even he tweeted, he goes, what?
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: A swing tackle wasn't available, and that's Mike Clistchett saying that.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: And if Mike Clistchett is saying it the most,
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: uh... plugged in inside of the wrist a Denver uh... brockles football but with that comes uh... you got to play the game a little bit of you know what i mean if he's saying that and that's it there it's baffling it's never like chats never before seen i i i it's it's one thing to not want to splurge
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: But to go complete radio silence says a whole other message to me Chad that they have a calculated plan here in place that we're not going to touch one single outside guy to prove a point and what that point is I do not know, but that's obviously the the game they're playing I don't understand it.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, thank you, Storm, appreciate you, brother.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Two-son fill in the house, checking in on Facebook, Scott's not in the house tonight.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: We got, got going so late.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: And he was having some problems with connecting to streaming, aren't for some reason.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll be, you'll be here and then seeing from, seeing Scott, we'll later in the week.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: But Phil says, apparently, our coaches think each guy is really stepping up this year.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: And our draft picks are going to hit big.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Very optimistic in my opinion.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: I just pray they're right.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still thinking there's going to be a trade, hashtag Buckham, MHH for life, Broncos for life.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that you intimately at the top of the show, you just still kind of have this feeling, something like that could be brewing that they're not going to completely just
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: pass on improving the team one way or another through the veteran opportunities that exist in the league used to be guys it there was only trades like you could sign guys on the street you could draft guys or you could trade for ages that came around in the 90s changed the game for the players especially but you know since then Zack it's been uh
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen anything quite like this.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: I really haven't, but obviously they are Zack, showing that they're very confident that they're very least in the roster that they have.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: But as guys, as stoked as we were on the Broncos last year and proud of them for getting as far as they did,
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: There were pretty clear and evident, obvious limitations to the roster's acts, some evident needs.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: We've already talked about the weapons, but like look, at linebacker, they weaken themselves.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine, you bring back, I'm fine, dude.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Seriously, bring back Singleton, bring back Sternet.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: But then you weaken the position by releasing Drake Greenlaw.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now you got another fish to fry.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you've done nothing.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: There are some interesting options out there.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: And the next segment here, we'll talk about them.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: But that's one obvious situation.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Tied-end.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: They're telegraphs.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: Clearly, they don't think they like their room as is.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably going to run it back.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Barring a draft, a draft pick.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe they're airing on like, hey, Caleb Loaner's going to show us something next year.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Another one of those, I'll believe it when I see it.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying I don't have some faith, some more at least curiosities.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: I can the very least, but it's another stitch where you you believe it when you see it.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, I don't know, it's really bizarre.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: The holes, there are still roster holes.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: They did have a very good roster last year's act, but there is no such thing as a perfect roster.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: No, but again, it's unprecedented because no other team is doing this.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: Even the chiefs decided, okay, we could splurge on a running back and they went out and signed Kenneth Walker.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: They realized they're quarterback and they're off-ence needed help.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: But the chiefs could do it, Chad.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: If the raining, super bowl, championed Seahawks, and that sounds discussing this day, but it's true if they could go out there and sign a free agent.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: Why can't the Broncos and you bring up a good point about linebackers?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's focused on offense and running back and receive her in tight end, but how about the defense?
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: How about linebacker?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: How about the back end with safety?
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: They lost PJ lock.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: Have a replace him with anyone.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: They are worse now.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, substantially worse now than they were a week ago, and it's going to be okay because they have bone X and some other talent throughout the roster, but every other team in the division got better.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: And the braco has got worse.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't done anything.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm optimistic as well, Phil, and then that's what I was going to say to Chad with he brought up.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a trade coming.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: Chad knows I'm an optimistic guy.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: I tend to be anyway, cautiously, but I still just can't believe.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I refuse to believe that this is the most will do is bring back their own free agents.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: I refuse to believe they're not going to bring in anyone to help out for quarterback when that quarterback's on his rookie deal, when they're in their Super Bowl window, when they got rid of the Russell Wilson contract,
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: to getting to the Super Bowl and like you were saying, Chad, the only reason this existed was the lack of offensive supporting infrastructure.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: Why not go out and improve it?
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I can keep raining or anything or anything, but I've done that for like a week now.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: It just makes no sense, man.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're going in circles because, you know, it's so inexplicable, you know.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: And again, the frustrating thing about it is the Broncos, they're back.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: They're just laughing their asses off.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Look at these guys, man.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: They can't figure it out.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and that's why partly, like you know Sean Payne's taking the tremendous amount
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: But again, what I think he sometimes misses, Zach, is that, yeah, you might have this kind of like adversarial view of the press, but the press is the conduit to the fans in many ways, the press, including us, we represent the voice of the fans and the view of the fans and the, you know, or the window into that world and so when you, when you act this way and you're trying to troll,
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: the media.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: All you're doing is trolling your own fans.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: So on one hand, it's like, all right, clarify something.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: Sean.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: What a tweet kill you.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: Hey guys, uh, you know, I don't know what you would do.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't expect it.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: I would be absolutely shocked or stunned if they said anything about it.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: But if they don't make a move between now and the draft, I fully expect that to be a line of questioning that is absolutely
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: Give it will there though knowing that those people asking the questions the their access depends on playing the game like I said do they want to poke the hornets and that's that much and finding out what the brocos mo is here like you said they probably know if they have something cooking obviously they know the next move and they know that we're panicking for no reason right now but.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: if they don't have a next move and that's plausible too, that they legitimately just like the roster and they feel like they can build through the draft.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: All of that smacks of arrogance to me like I said.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay to like your draft process, it's okay to like George Payden as a scout, it's okay to like to build through the draft and have a lot of draft fix, but you can ignore the talent, the proven experience, veteran talent that was available to you on the open market.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: talent that would have helped out your quarterback directly and helping out your quarterback helps out your team.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: What is it about the ankle?
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: Is it about Sean Peyton giving a play call in the Davis web?
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: Was Sean Peyton forced to give a play calling?
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_00]: But and I hate to be conspiratorial, but that's all we have to go on.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the answer is.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like legitimately I'm going crazy.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: There are rumors unfounded that
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Peyton was made to do it.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you make the guy who just in his third year with your very young and broken team that he took over after the third season in which he got you one bonus injury away from the Super Bowl.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to step in as a Walmart people and say, no, no, no, you need to give a play calling, give me a break.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: That did not happen, guys.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Phil, love you big dog.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: We got Camden checking in.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: What's up speaking of the members and we'll come back to some specific member comments and questions here tonight.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: He says, uh, thank you for the super chat support brother.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: What's up Broncos country.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: He says this may be a hot take, but I wonder if Sean Peyton thinks Davis Webb can fix this offense.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why they didn't spend any money on outside players.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Ash tag.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go Broncos.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: So partly, you know, kind of Zach maybe.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: file on in the in the same category as you know we but we're we're confident in the guys we have work and and that they're going to continue to show progress these young players and take steps forward in 2026 same can be you know filed Davis web we're confident he's going to help us take further steps maybe maybe but uh I don't think it explains this I don't think that's like the impetus for the vision
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: This is all my speculation, but I can we know Sean Payton is that petty and he has an ego to fill up this room that I'm in right here So I wouldn't be surprised if he said you know what I'm gonna pass on play calling finally get off my back You know what you go do with Davis you go do it as I try to do it last season I'm not gonna give you any sort of upgrades We're gonna run it back with the same roster.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see how you fare
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't be surprised and I wouldn't believe they would do that, they would go to those lengths, a coordinated effort just for one's own ego and pride to sacrifice the team, and the future prospects, but if there's any coach that can delve into that level of thinking, it is Sean Payton.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know, Camden, we appreciate the super, I wish I had more of a
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: of a solid insight for you.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: I know I'm repeating myself here, but we don't have anything else to go on.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: It has to be arrogance and trying to run it back with the same roster that they handpicked and hands-selected or it's they want to make it as I don't know.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Non-training wheels is possible.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: They want to just push them on the bike.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: They don't want to have any intro to it.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: They want to just throw them in the deep end to start.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: Davis Webb and Bonix, and I don't
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: You're muted.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: I just can't believe that they'd be that petty zack in stupid, you know, like, I can't even come on now.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about the $4 billion Broncos like and a team that has now once again restored itself to where it belongs amongst the upper echelon of NFL teams.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I just can't imagine it would be that.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: Mickey Mouse, you know what I mean?
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: Camden, brother, thank you so much again, Big Dog.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: We got Drew checking in, good to see you, Paul.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Sayon, I'm feeling good about Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant taking another step.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: Then, if we draft the Georgia Lineback or CJ Allen, Nick Singleton and a tight end, then you got to feel good about that, better than Old Man Debo and wasting money.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like, Debo Samuel, he's one of the guys that, and let's talk about this for a second, and then we'll get to Shannon's awesome, very general super chat, but before free agency open, when we would get questions about, well, what do you think about Debo?
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about Tyre Kill?
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, no, I don't need them.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now there's
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: better options for what you might, what the Broncos could maybe use at wide receiver weapon.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Then those guys, because each one kind of represents, they have their own works, right?
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: But now you get a week in, and it's kind of like that feeling of beggars can't be choosers, all the sudden you're going, man.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if Tyree kills Nee is recovering on pace,
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy that could start for you day one, if he's healthy, right?
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: Debo, let's try and explain.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he did look slower.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like he's slowing down a little.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: But then again, Washington got him.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Just so happened, Jane Daniels missed basically half the season.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: So can you really fault him the only finish with 727 yards, 72 catches, six total touchdowns?
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would like to see that kind of production.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's just adding to the overall.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: So are they perfectly ideal solutions that?
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: But either one of those guys probably gives you some level of an upgrade over what is currently there, which are intriguing young guys could have some potential.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: not all players with potential, not all human beings with potential, reach it.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: And thank you, Drew for the super, but Chad basically hit on everything I was going to say there.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: My question to you, though, is what step did Troy Franklin really take if we think about it?
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Was the bar that low from his first season that that's because we could consider what he did last season a step?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_00]: What I remember about Troy Franklin from 2025, yeah, he scored touchdowns, but he also dropped what seemed like every other pass that came his way.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_00]: Pat Bryant, what I remember about him, great upside, but he was injured in every other game that he played, and that's what I'll remember about Pat Bryant.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: They can't count on young players for the reason that Chad mentioned, because sometimes they don't become what you think they're going to become.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_00]: They don't become the
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: And they can't keep relying on younger talent to take that next step.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: They need proven experience, reliable help for boneics.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I agree with you, maybe D-Bows not the answer, but I wouldn't write off every remaining free agent based on that premise.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: And also because you mentioned linebackers and tight ends there in the draft, those positions are very difficult to transition to the NFL.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Linebacker and tight ends specifically.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: So you can't rely on an instant day one impact, you're drafting these players for the future.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I'm saying if you rely solely on the draft and add no experienced players, no better in players, it reeks of arrogance to me.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I think one of the silver linings to waiting things out like this, that is the longer players languish on the market on the market.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the lower the demand is obviously, which is going to then lower the cost of these players.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so someone like Tyree Kill, he's probably just not quite there yet with his knee.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the reasons he hasn't been scooped up.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you right now, if Tyree Kill hits this free agent market healthy, even at 32, he's he's signed on day one, just like Mike Evans, like they're gone, boom, out the door.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: Debo, it's a little bit more complicated.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: However,
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: He might be willing to take a little bit of a haircut and just go play on a good team again, right?
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like go out and compete and be part of a fun exciting offense with a young quarterback and a proven coach and all that stuff.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I am now, let me put it this way, is that?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: At this stage, we can get into the varying levels of fit and all that stuff.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not turning my nose up at any given type or a weapon free agent at this stage.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: Especially on the weapons side of things,
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: Bring in some that gum help.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: Grover, we're going to get you next brother, trust Shannon.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Don't put in from the top row.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: Take you, Shannon.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Mount Rushmore superstar in the house.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: We love you.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate you so much, Shannon.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: Your generosity, especially this time of year, you've heard a say before, but it's helping us keep the lights on.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, love you appreciate you.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: She says, good evening, Chattinsack.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: This week, just came across as arrogance to me.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: Jack, you talked a lot about that last week trying to stay positive, but this is aggravating as far as as far as the big trade, I have my doubts, at least they have bow, but he can only get them so far without help.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's look.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: franchise quarterback is the tide that raises all ships, but sometimes it takes time for that tide to fully rise.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, my point here is, you know, expecting a year three quarterback to suddenly like Peyton Manning in year 14 turn, no neighbors of like Demarius Thomas Eric Decker and Julius Thomas into household names.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I might be a bridge too far.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: At the same time, clearly, already Bonyx has proven he is a, he raises the ships.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Cortland Sutton went, how long was it, Zach?
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: 2019 till 2024, without a thousand yards season.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: Bonyx arrives, boom, immediately.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: You're too, boom, right?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, gets back in the probe.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: So, he's already proven that he raises ships.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: And if not, even if you wanted to argue with me and say, I, I don't know, an individual
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: you know I want to dispute that he's improved the outlook or production of any given player just look at the team he has written the team at one 14 games last year he raised the freaking ships so that being as it may he still you know I think it's foolish
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe that's strong, misguided to think, okay, bowl has it pretty much everything he needs.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna bet on him continuing to help our coaches, massage these young players who flashed at times last year's act, but,
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: None of those three guys that we're talking about.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: Franklin Bryant, Marvin Minnes Jr.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Proved in any way, shape or form that they're going to be that go-to number two guy that I was talking about earlier, can you help make defenses pay?
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: Can you not help?
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: Can you make defenses pay for doubling Portland Sutton?
- 38:24[SPEAKER_00]: that exactly exactly.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much Shannon number one for your generous super as you always want to do.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: We really appreciate it this time of year.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: The Brock was receiving core is loaded with a bunch of robins.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: They need their Batman.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: And even Coral and Sutton to me is a is a is a Robin.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's not a Batman.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's a worse version of T Higgins.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_00]: And even on T Higgins team, he has a Batman in Jamar Chase.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: I never saw anything and you guys can disagree check and disagree.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_00]: I never saw anything from Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims or Pat Brian that would make me say they are the next just a Jefferson, they are the next to Mark Chase, they are the next CD lamb.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: I want that player on my team.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm I'm tired of hoping about it.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm tired of trying to finesse it or get them on a discount.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: I want to commit blue chip talent, blue chip compensation, excuse me, to blue chip talent.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: I have my doubts as well, Shannon, that a tree is going to come.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hopeful in my heart, but my brain is telling me, no, my brain is telling me George Peyton loves his draft pick, Sean Peyton loves his roster and those things coalescing.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: explain what's going on here.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: I do not know.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like they made no moves.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: They like their own free agents, obviously So they brought them back, but they don't need any outside help at least until the draft or at least until I've heard Also maybe after June 1st when the cap hits or whatever become different.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard varying things But the longer that we go with radio silence and longer that were kept in the dark I think that's a problem as well because all we could do is speculate and they don't really care
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, Sean Peyton rebels in it.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, he loves it.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Shannon, it has really kind of smacked of arrogance.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: And on one hand, you know, I can understand it.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's justified.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos proved last year, they're forced to be reckoned with Sean Peyton and George Peyton are doing a lot of, doing things right, obviously, right.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: They got the quarterback.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: They got the franchise cornerstone pieces.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: done very well in the draft.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: They've done very well in free agency.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: They've made a lot of good coaching hires like they're on a roll.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: But no team is perfect.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: How can you go into any offseason thinking, you know, yeah, we'll make our draft picks, but like we're good.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: None of these veterans that are have proven experienced talent on demand.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're good.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: It just smacks of arrogance.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: It goes from confidence to arrogance.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's fair Shannon.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: And once again, we appreciate you so much, my friend.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you had a great weekend.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's grab Grover who's been a patient boy.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you pal.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: Long time super chat superstar around these parts.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: says, do you think the Broncos viewed Davis web as their ultimate upgrade to the offense this offseason, hence their lack of activity?
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: So that was kind of similar to who said that earlier was it, uh, was it Camden, yeah, was Camden.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: So Camden and Grover kind of sharing a brain on this, Zach, I talked more about it than you on the last one.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: Give some thoughts on this.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, to me, that's also a smacking of arrogance, Grover, because who hired Davis Web?
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: Who plucked Davis Web from obscurity as a random backup quarterback in New York made him an assistant on Sean Peyton staff, and now he's the play caller in Denver.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: taking over for one of the more revered and legendary play colors of his generation in Sean Peyton.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's a Sean Peyton thing right there.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: And if that's the case, but that can't compensate for the talent on the field.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: The play colors aren't the ones catching passes or running between the tackles.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: They need the players to do that.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought they would get better players to do that.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's the case.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they do, but there's also a line of thinking if we do get conspiratorial, like maybe Sean Peyton was forced to give up play calling or maybe he didn't do it of his own volition.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: And that would explain the anecdote in activity.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like go out here, Davis.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the same roster from 25.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: Go out there and get to the AFC title game, like I did.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: We have nothing else to go on.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see that happening and even if there were like even if Sean Peyton was that much of just that petty and vindictive and destructive.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: There are multiple leaders in that building.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: George Peyton, if that's what he sense was he's going to go to the painters and go, guys, what the heck is going on over here?
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: I do you know, let me tell you about this.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: I have a bad feeling.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever, it would have to be a unified thing here.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just to me, it's like the utmost ridiculous.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand is, but we've been twirled around in so many circles now, but that that's where conspiracy comes from when you're left to no other devices, but to just purely speculate pretty soon you get to the base core level of, well, kind of the worst aspects of human motivation and ambition right you go, oh, what could it be, but we'll see dude.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll see, Grover time, there's still time left.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: They could make some lower level signings this week's act.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: They've got what was it last I looked.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: It was 21 ish million after some of these moves got a budget eight to 10 of that for the draft class.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: So they still have wiggle room plenty of wiggle room and that includes that making a trade, you know, if they're absorbing a contract or even making that trade and then let's extend them to make them feel the love type thing.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: They got some room for that drew jumping in again.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you pal.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: So that'll let me guys.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: But old Debo keeps patting Troy off the field.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: No thanks for me.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, Debo doesn't make a ton of sense.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'll admit for the Broncos simply because kind of that gadget roll.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: They already have one of those the best gadget guys in the NFL.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: in Marvin Mims Jr. and I just think that they would be better off airing on the side of continuing to push him onto the field and yet Zack and yet we didn't see them turn to Marvin Mims till they had no choice and when they did turn to him what did he do?
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: he produced in spades clutch huge games, huge production I mean if that doesn't scream to these coaches and
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: front office that who are obviously, they know what they're looking at, right?
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: They're the guys that are making these decisions and they got, they've forgotten more about football than any of us will ever know.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: If it's that obvious to us, us, it should be that obvious to them, but that's how I felt at the end of 2024 after what he did in SINCY and that last five games basically of the regular season dude, Marvin Men's was making just insane plays.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: I want some veteran production to help stabilize and raise the floor.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: And not only raising the floor, but I think Depot does give you more options out there and can thus raise the ceiling as well.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Drew, I want to echo a lot of what Chad said there as well.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that Debo Samuel is the right player for the team.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: I put out a tweet like a month ago saying the Broker should avoid him.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the same Debo Samuel as a few years ago and he would take up unnecessary playing time and this and that.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's more along the lines if we can't write off
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: signing a veteran as a whole.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: That whole process as a whole collectively because they had the younger players on the roster.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: Anything that I saw from Pat Bryan and Troy Franklin said to me, they're going to be in silly pieces at best.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_00]: Secondary weapons at best.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: They're never going to take over a game as true number one.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: Are they ever going to be a Justin Jefferson?
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: No, they're not.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're never going to be a CD lamp.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: But here's my criteria.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: Same as what Chad was saying at the end there.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: can they catch or can debo catch, for example, can you catch a football consistently?
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: Is he not going to drop it?
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: Then I want him on my team.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: I want those players on my team that are going to help out my franchise quarterback because that times drew as exciting and as tantalizing as Pat Bryan and Troy Franklin's upside can be the elementary stuff they were doing wrong was hurting the team.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: I want the guys that are going to do the basics consistently always for my franchise quarterback.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks again, buddy.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Always appreciate your thoughts and the support as you know Drew means means a lot.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: We got one of the OGs from the MHH UN checking in.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: It clips Stormborn, our dear friend, who, as you can see, is just awesome.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: Happy Sunday, pre, she says, and Broncos family.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: From him, it's always peace and love from Philly, because that's where he is.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: And it's great to see you, Troy, hope you're doing well.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: big dog and would love to hear your thoughts, you know, drop it in the chat, how you're feeling about things, what you've seen, what you predict, how you're reading this situation, big dog.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks Troy.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you Troy.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_00]: Appreciate that man.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Zach, we're at 47 minutes.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let's take a minute here and hit some
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: Starting at the top here.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let me scroll a little bit.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: Let's let's see string guy saying maybe patents plan is to not give up comp picks and build through trades in the draft there is solid logic behind this approach.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's logic to it has to be part of how you build a team.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: And not only that's that, but how you maintain a competitive, let's just call it, you know, Super Bowl caliber team.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be part of it.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: You would be a fool to make it the only thing that you do.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's a reason why the NFL eventually said, yeah, let's go ahead and do free agency.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it benefits the team.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: It er, the, the league.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: It raises the ceiling for everybody and creates opportunity.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, there's just, it free agency will forever hence fourth Zack continue to be one of the two key foundational ways you build a roster or slash maintain a roster in the NFL.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying it's bad.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: And if we'll chat with saying there was true, it's not bad if you wanted to vote most of your team building through the draft.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_00]: And in fact, that's encouraged the good teams generally quote unquote good 10 to do that, but no team really over the course of an off season, at least since I've been alive and watching or covering football.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_00]: has completely ignored the free agent process and devoted 100% of the retention on the draft.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen that before.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_00]: Usually little sign even a backup type player, a swing tackle like my close was saying earlier, but to not sign one single outside player when you've shown you're willing to spend money.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_00]: You spend money on that in trial, but you spend money on Alex Singleton giving him over $7 million a year for two years.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: But you won't spend a dime on an outside player, not a single one, when you have the opportunity now finally, you finally found your franchise quarterback.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_00]: You're of this close from a Super Bowl and just you need that little bit to get you over the home.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: Todd, I'm not sure who the Broncos can still get.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: Goddard is now off the market.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, resigning with the Eagles.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: AJ Brown could still be available for a trade with the Rams, but with the Rams out, but Patriots still in.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: Let them have them.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: Let them have them.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you want to give up a first and a third, a first and a third wouldn't get it done reportedly, Zach, a few weeks a month ago, or whatever was crazy, not even that.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: What's it going to take?
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: He ain't worth that dude.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: AJ Brown, I try not to use ain't when I'm speaking professionally, but he's not.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's not worth two first round picks.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: But Zach, there are again, I'm going to list a few names here.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to throw a match and I want to get your thoughts.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a few guys out there who and I am going to admit to this.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: Before free agency, not all these names I'm gonna throw out.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: You jumped out to Mizek as perfectly ideal for the Broncos.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: So as time has marched on and we're seeing them do nothing to improve the roster.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I get it.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: You want to try and retain and keep as many of these contributing players to your success last year as possible, that was a blueprint that you want to try to continue to map into the future.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_01]: But you gotta keep trying to build and tweak and get better.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: So here's a few names, all right?
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just talk about Tyre Kill first and foremost.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts a week into free agency and have they changed?
- 50:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, I do not want Tyree kill at all on my football team.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: Take away the character, concerns of Chad.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's a, you know, a walking legal case.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like he's coming off a very, very serious knee injury.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, a career threatening type of knee injury.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's also his age is also a factor.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the same Tyree kill he was in Kansas City.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's not even the same Tyree kill he was early on in Miami.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: I do not want the Brock was to go anywhere near him.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's, we've touched on it here and there, but let's get an absolute analysis.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Debo Samuel's still out there.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's only 30, I say only in the sense that in comparison to Tyreek.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's just it's like I'm tired.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be consistent really quickly I set a few shows ago.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_00]: I've set this for about like three years, but I am so tired of the Broncos signing injury prone players and then we all act surprised when those players get injured Debo Samuel is a walking injury.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's taken more beatings than any other player I've ever seen in the NFL Because all that he does as a Swiss Army knife He's like Tyre Killing my in in this sense.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's not the same Debo you recognized a few years ago.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: So pass
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: uh... let me ask you about uh... now that i'm going to move off the well no let's just keep it on the weapons for a second titan unless i miss something over last two days david and joku who that's my boy that's my guy right there i don't i think he still available chat unless i miss something as well i do think he still a free agent and i i've been consistent on pat myself on the back going back to months ago these these preview shows are even talking about during the season
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: They even a joke who being a guy, the Brock OSHA target.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: He could do it all.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know some Brock OS fans are down on him, but he's a very solid past catcher.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: He can block in line.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's a team first guy.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_00]: You could talk about the injuries, rage or whatever of the contract he might demand, but I would love to see David and joke who in the Brock OSHA uniform.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: I would too.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely would too.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Let's keep it tight in for a second talk about Johnny Smith from formerly a Pittsburgh and then Miami the year before.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: I would do it.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's not my favorite.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_00]: I would have taken Isaiah likely Dallas God or David and Joku.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_00]: But Johnny Smith, there's some injury concerned, like with most other players, but he can catch.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what?
- 52:59[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my criteria for any tight-end shed.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_00]: Is he better than Adam Troutman?
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: If the answer is yes, I want him on my team.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not even trying to be funny.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: They have to improve not only the floor, but the ceiling of that room, and you can't run it
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: All right, what about a 30 year old Christian Kirk wide receiver?
- 53:20[SPEAKER_00]: Now, pass.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: All right, no ceiling.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see here.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm scrolling Curtis Samuel, 30 years old.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_00]: What what could Sammy will bring that Marvin Mammoth and Troy Franklin don't bring to the table?
- 53:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's my only thing.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_00]: Is he going to be a number one?
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_00]: If he's not going to be a number one, I don't think I want to waste my time.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: What about you, Juan Jennings?
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: Has he moved off the market yet?
- 53:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's still available, and of the players you've mentioned so far, Chad, that's the guy that I'd maybe reckon myself with signing because he be reliable.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to be inconsistent.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to be contradictory.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: If I throw him the football, can I count on him to catch it and squeeze it with both hands like Sean Payton talked about, if he can do that, I want him on my team.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'd be open to it.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel here and looking at some of the less heralded names.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: But nothing is, first of all, nothing jumping out.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: So let me flip the script here and go to running back, all right?
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: Joe mix and at 30 coming off, he was giving you a great production.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_01]: He got hurt last year, and he just hit 30, but he's available at running back.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't want like, I know JK is not 30, but I don't want to injury prone running backs, who are one snap away from being done for the season.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think mixed in is closer to retiring than ever being a worthwhile player.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's a shame because he was a great player.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Zach, I'm looking at some of these other names that are available at running back and kind of like last year.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is how it was as we got past the draft.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: The only two names really that were that intriguing on a running back were JK Dobbins and Nick Chubb.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: Neither you were I were all that interested in Nick Chubb, but I was always kind of intrigued by JK Dobbins.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: So some of these names I'm gonna throw out, you who knows, maybe we'll see, but what about say, Kareem Hunt?
- 55:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, definitely not, definitely not.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_00]: He can go back to Kansas City if he wants a job.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just get back like you have that already in McLaughlin now he don't need my all centers.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just I'm just looking here I'm scrolling there's nothing there's nothing dude.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_01]: They have some people there's nothing all right last one here we've kind of kept the focus on weapons and and whatnot but at linebacker all right real quick.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_01]: Again, you've got your starters, you've, you've telegraphed that to the world, Alex Singleton and Justin Sternatter our starters.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_01]: Singleton is 32 though, and you weaken the position by releasing Drake Greenlaw.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_01]: So what are you doing?
- 56:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to air on the upside of a level Bailey, Jordan Turner, Drew Sanders, I don't think so.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: You need one more guy.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about Bobby Ocarique Zach, who had 143 tackles and two picks last year for the Giants?
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't hate it, although I think ultimately this is a position the Broncos are going to fill in the draft.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason why they brought back two veterans and I know they like Bailey and the summer and Korean A read and this and that, but I do think they're going to address this in the drought.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't mind it though.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_00]: They went this route.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: How about former Wyoming Cowboy, age 29, lineback or by the name of Logan Wilson, former
- 56:53[SPEAKER_00]: Man, you talk about a player who Star really has dimmed in recent years.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_00]: That dude was like the next great linebacker and now he's like a has been.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's being passed around the league now, but his film isn't that great.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_00]: And his film in Dallas was even worse than his film in Cincinnati was I don't know.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's a that's a matter of can I get better in the draft than I can get with Logan Wilson probably.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_00]: Then I'll probably just end up building through the draft.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say no to him.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_01]: Here's an interesting one, and I understand based on what I just said about Broncos have their two starters.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of might already answer the questions, Zach, but what about a 36 year old wait for it?
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: Bobby Wagner, who?
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to lay this out for you real quick.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: Last season, Washington, Zack, 162 tackles, four and a half sacks, four pass breakups and two interceptions.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you sign a guy like that, he wants to be, he's the start, right?
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, exactly.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to say.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to sign him to be a backup.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you do now?
- 58:02[SPEAKER_00]: You gave Sternaud and single, single-ton new contracts.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to bench one of them, unfortunately not.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: It was one of the two.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: You're either going to bring back a single-ton or you're going to sign a Bobby Wagner and the Brock was made their decision.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_00]: Although, what a tremendous player, Chad.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: Future Hall of Famer.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he is tremendous.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_01]: So last couple of names, and then we got the lady D. So last thing, and then we'll finish up with lady D's super chat.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just looking at these linebackers here.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing is poppin for me.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to do one last thing.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to look at safety's Zach Kyle Dougher.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, the old Patriots dude.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of swiss army knife.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't hate it.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_00]: He can play multiple positions in the back end.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, yeah, to replace PJ Locke as like the primary guy off the bench could do worse.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, let me see.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, hi, Gilman got signed.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's a piece of uh, man.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: Jimmy Ward is 35.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_01]: Where does the time go?
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: Man.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: by our got signed.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: Patriots swooped him up.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: What about tomorrow, Hamlin?
- 59:17[SPEAKER_00]: No, he never.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: It was a great story or whatever with Hamlin, but like he proved he was just a career back up.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, of all the positions we've talked about as being needs safety is the one I'm actually least worried about as a huge concern, not only because the draft is coming up and you're looking for a backup, but
- 59:39[SPEAKER_01]: Because of that, and combined, Zach, with how the team feels about Devin Key.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably going to be okay there and whoever they draft, you know, they'll draft a safety like I I put it at like a 70% chance I think, you know, that's probably the least in least worrisome of the still nagging lingering needs out there so we'll see, but before we dip and get out of here.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we got one from Quincy, too.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_01]: We'll grab Quincy, lady, do you check it in from the top row Mount Rushmore dear friend of bona fide superstar.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_01]: She's checking in to say, hey, Chad and Zach.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_01]: I want in Joku as well, Zach.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not sure if they're gonna go after anyone.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm confused as to their agenda.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just need to believe they know what they're doing and hashtag images for like, well, for what it's worth guys, I'll say this again, I've said it in different ways throughout the last week, especially on Thursday, but
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_01]: is mystifying as this is.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I think we're all justified in feeling the way we feel because it genuinely is that unprecedented.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: I still do have
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_01]: faith in George Payton and Sean Payton.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: But especially Sean Payton, as much as who kind of irritates me at times and irks me and stuff like this going up, I still trust his read and his vision.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's obviously not too interested in sharing what that vision is.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_01]: We can infer and imply there are
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: things we can deduce, but we can't 100% know how much each one of these deductions actually factors in to the vision itself, like for example, or confident in the roster as is.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, we know that to a level to a point, but how much is that factoring it?
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to jeopardize our comp pick formula thing.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: We know that's part of the equation, but is it like how much of the pie chart is it consuming?
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hey man, we're betting on and we're believing in the continued growth of some of these positions y'all are tripping on as big holes on the roster's namely wide receiver and we'll say running back to tight end, I don't know so I do believe them like that side of it if they when they stand up and they show and they signals that their confidence and belief in this roster.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: their confidence and belief in their own vision and what they're going to be able to do in terms of development.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_01]: That I fully trust at this stage.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: They Sean Payton regime has given me no reason to mistrust, but I'd like to have at least an inkling Zach of why and what the problem is and it's so frustrating, they have zero incentive to actually provide that.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_00]: would be nice, wouldn't it, to just have a rough draft of the Broncos off season to know which way they're going slightly.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_00]: They just want to keep us in the dark.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the right.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have to disclose anything as an NFL team.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: Some are more open with others with information.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos shoes not to be, but it does set it up pretty good.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_00]: And, and thank you so much as always for your generosity.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's truly truly humbling and amazing.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: It does set up one scenario where there's no other culprit chat if the Broncos take a step back in 2026.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_00]: of Sean and George Payton.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be because of the talent on the field.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's because they didn't do enough to put more talent on the field.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_00]: They were good enough to get to the AFC title game, but they needed a little more to get over the hump.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_00]: And by sitting on their hands and I used this term earlier, I don't think it's that out of the box here.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_00]: their election of duty to have this opportunity to finally have cap space and a franchise quarterback and do absolutely nothing with it.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, dear, and we have to just, I, I, I, Chad was talking about keep the faith and just have hope that they have a plan, but every day that goes by and nothing happens.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_00]: It weakens that hope.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_01]: Love you so much, Deanna.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great start in your week.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_01]: You are awesome and you know this, my friend.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: Quincy's checking in, we got a huge fan OG of the Calberman Facebook Day.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: So real quick guys, we're over.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: But when Zach and I first crossed paths at CBS 247 sports, he was 247 had this huge Facebook page that was, what was Zach?
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like 550,000 followers.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_01]: And Zach got hired to the beat there.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_01]: What was it 2016 and so one of the things they wanted us to do Zach before I got there was these live streams on Facebook and so Zach was doing that solo before he and I ever crossed past so that's where this comment comes in where he says Desquincey I remember watching Kelvinman on Facebook days love your bro can we please make some noise before the draft trade for water.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_00]: Man, Quincy, you are speaking my language in so many different ways here.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, man, that's truly, truly humbling to know that you've been watching me and supporting me and the movement for this long.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, it leaves me speechless.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_00]: I remember those Facebook lives, man.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was like four, five, six days a week just going on there and ranting.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_00]: Not dissimilar to what I do now chat on the pod with you, but thank you Quincy and you're right there.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_00]: That suggestion at the end, bang on.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_00]: I would love Jalen Wattel.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: Spend big, aim big, go all out for Bonax, get a jail in Wano, get a gear, it will soon get a crystal of it.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_00]: You guys are probably sick of hearing me say the same names, but those are upper tier receivers that are worthwhile to pursue.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_00]: You might not get them, they might want too much in a trade for, but at least pick up the phone and try to pursue them and base on what we know Chad and we don't know much we'll know what they trickle out.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't even picked up the phone for those players.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_00]: They have no interest in doing so.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know Quincy.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I know as I really appreciate your support man.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much Good to see you Quincy.
