November 1 - Psalm 138 · A Chapter a Day Bible Reading

• 0:11
Hello, friends, it's Sean. Here it is, all the beginning of
• 0:15
November. Welcome to the 1st of November.
• 0:18
It's a Friday. You've reached the end of the
• 0:21
week. And as we do on Fridays, we are
• 0:24
going to read a Psalm as we look forward to the weekend ahead.
• 0:28
And this is a wonderful Psalm. This is a Psalm of praise,
• 0:33
praise for the goodness of God. And if these are not words that
• 0:38
we want bouncing around in our minds all day today and through
• 0:41
the weekend, I don't know what we want in our heads.
• 0:45
So we are going to linger and enjoy each of these verses as
• 0:50
they pave the lining of our hearts and our spirits with the
• 0:55
words of praise so that we can call on them and enjoy them in
• 0:59
the days to come. So let us read together a Psalm
• 1:03
  of David. Psalm 138.
• 1:16
I give you thanks. O Lord, with all my heart I will
• 1:22
sing your praises before the gods.
• 1:25
I bow before your holy temple as I worship.
• 1:30
I praise Your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness,
• 1:36
for Your promises are backed by all the honour of Your name.
• 1:42
As soon as I pray, you answer me.
• 1:45
You encourage me by giving me strength.
• 1:49
Every king in all the earth will thank you, Lord, for all of them
• 1:55
will hear your words. Yes, they will sing about the
• 2:00
Lord's ways, for the glory of the Lord is very great.
• 2:06
Though the Lord is great, He cares for the humble, but He
• 2:11
keeps his distance from the proud.
• 2:15
Though I am surrounded by troubles, You will protect me
• 2:19
from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the
• 2:25
power of your right hand saves me.
• 2:29
The Lord will work out His plans for my life, for your faithful
• 2:34
love, O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandoned me, for You made
• 2:42
me our Lord, and you have indeed reached out your hand and saved
• 2:57
us. And you have made us so many
• 3:01
glorious promises of grace and mercy and saving and membership
• 3:07
in your family and eternity spent with you.
• 3:10
And we know that these promises are indeed backed by all the
• 3:14
honour of your name, that you proved to be trustworthy again
• 3:19
and again and again through the history of our kind as you have
• 3:25
walked with us. You are a wonderful God and we
• 3:31
really do praise you and we give you thanks with all of our
• 3:35
heart. And it doesn't matter who's
• 3:39
around, Lord, we will sing your praises, give us boldness to
• 3:45
praise you in every circumstance because you certainly are worthy
• 3:52
and we love you. And we pray all of this in the
• 3:56
name of the greatest gift that you ever gave us, in the name of
• 4:00
  Jesus, Amen.
