- 1:41Speaker 2: the Big Ten. The Washington Huskies are trying to get

- 2:03Speaker 2: out at Seahawks headquarters. Jessamyn McIntyre back in our Elliott
- 2:06Speaker 2: Bay studios in downtown Seattle. Good morning, ma'am. Good morning.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Send in those talkbacks. I get lonely back here.
- 2:11Speaker 2: The iHeartRadio app, 933-KJR, or... Our website, 933KJR. com, where this
- 2:18Speaker 2: morning I put up my latest Seahawks story I wrote
- 2:21Speaker 2: for our KJR website about the Seahawks' love for Kenneth
- 2:25Speaker 2: Walker to this day, including coach Mike McDonald. Of course,
- 2:29Speaker 2: Walker is leading the NFL in rushing for the Chiefs
- 2:32Speaker 2: because the Seahawks did make an effort to re-sign him,
- 2:34Speaker 2: letting him walk after his Super Bowl MVP performance. And
- 2:39Speaker 2: now Walker is ripping it up for the Chiefs, playing
- 2:41Speaker 2: more than he ever has in the NFL. You're going
- 2:44Speaker 2: to hear today from Julian Love, Mike McDonald, A.J. Barner.
- 2:48Speaker 2: A lot of love in the locker room still for
- 2:51Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker, who, of course, began his career as a
- 2:53Speaker 2: second-round pick for Michigan State and Wake Forest in Seattle.
- 2:58Speaker 2: And then last year, a job share that pretty much
- 3:00Speaker 2: cemented his choice of, even if you brought Brink's truck
- 3:03Speaker 2: up to me, I don't think I'm staying. And Kenneth
- 3:06Speaker 2: Walker's now in Kansas City. So that's been the story
- 3:08Speaker 2: of the week out here and the talk of yesterday.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Of course. For sure.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Of course it is.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Is it revisionist history or is it legit to say this?
- 3:17Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker was a mistake.
- 3:19Speaker 3: A mistake to let him go?
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 5: I think it's revisionist history. I mean, what other sacrifices
- 3:25Speaker 5: would they have had to make?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Well, that's just it. Probably none because they had enough
- 3:29Speaker 2: cap space and cash to sign both he and Rashid
- 3:33Speaker 2: Shahid back. We've talked all week about what the value
- 3:38Speaker 2: proposition is in the Seahawks and John Schneider's minds. about
- 3:42Speaker 2: the running back position and why they didn't do it.
- 3:44Speaker 5: I'm just thinking more about their future cap space because
- 3:48Speaker 5: he is expensive.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He is, and he gets hurt, and the running backs
- 3:53Speaker 2: get hurt in general, and the philosophy has been let's
- 3:56Speaker 2: not pay those guys who are going to break down.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Ever since the Seahawks paid a $ 61 million contract to
- 4:02Speaker 2: Sean Alexander back in 2006 coming off a Super Bowl
- 4:06Speaker 2: and a National Football League MVP season, ever since then,
- 4:09Speaker 2: and that turned out to be a mistake, and Alexander
- 4:12Speaker 2: was turning 30 and he went over a cliff and
- 4:15Speaker 2: injured and never became anything close to that under that
- 4:19Speaker 2: new contract. But that was a previous regime. That was
- 4:22Speaker 2: the Tim Ruskell previous. That was totally outside of what
- 4:26Speaker 2: John Schneider, how he's operated the last 17 years with
- 4:29Speaker 2: the Seahawks. But ever since then, the Alexander deal is
- 4:32Speaker 2: pretty much the last free agent extension or contract they've
- 4:36Speaker 2: given to a running back. And, There's a reason for that.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And we've talked all week about those reasons. It doesn't
- 4:43Speaker 2: make a Seahawks fan feel any better this week. Not
- 4:47Speaker 2: with the undefeated Chiefs coming in and Walker leading the
- 4:50Speaker 2: NFL in rushing and the Seahawks 3-3 with just schmoes
- 4:53Speaker 2: in the running game. Yeah. We spent a long time
- 4:57Speaker 2: on the roundtable with Hugh Millen, Chuck Powell, and I
- 5:00Speaker 2: talking about that this morning. And Hugh was saying, yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 2: it's a mistake. And it is. I tried to present
- 5:07Speaker 2: the reason of why they did it. their thinking, their
- 5:10Speaker 2: philosophy at running back, but at this moment is where
- 5:13Speaker 2: it stands. It's a mistake, but I will say this, Jessamyn,
- 5:15Speaker 2: jury's still way, way out on Jadarian Price, right? They've
- 5:18Speaker 2: still got four years of him. We've only seen three
- 5:21Speaker 2: games of him so far. So, he's on injured reserve
- 5:25Speaker 2: until at least next month, but I hear you. I
- 5:28Speaker 2: know it was a mistake sitting here now that the
- 5:31Speaker 2: leading rusher that you had, Super Bowl MVP that you had,
- 5:34Speaker 2: is coming into play against you because you didn't make
- 5:37Speaker 2: a serious offer for him, and That so far has
- 5:40Speaker 2: come back to bite him.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Well, I have a question for you, too.
- 5:43Speaker 5: If you knew, because you've talked about it, your conversations
- 5:46Speaker 5: with him, how would you feel that he didn't want
- 5:48Speaker 5: to stay?
- 5:49Speaker 3: How hard would you fight to keep him?
- 5:51Speaker 2: It was twofold. Right. They didn't want to commit any
- 5:55Speaker 2: big money that would keep him, and he didn't want
- 5:57Speaker 2: to stay. And that's really the bottom line. And that's
- 6:01Speaker 2: why it never got pretty much anywhere. You'll hear Mike
- 6:04Speaker 2: McDonald talk about what really was the last time Kenneth
- 6:07Speaker 2: Walker was a Seahawk, the day after the Super Bowl,
- 6:10Speaker 2: I asked him about, I just flat out asked the
- 6:13Speaker 2: coach yesterday, do you have second thoughts about Walker leaving
- 6:16Speaker 2: and you guys not keeping him? And he went to
- 6:19Speaker 2: the story about the day after the Super Bowl, and
- 6:21Speaker 2: they were in a van from the team hotel in
- 6:23Speaker 2: San Jose all the way back up to downtown San
- 6:26Speaker 2: Francisco for the day after head coach and Super Bowl
- 6:29Speaker 2: MVP press conference with the commissioner in the Moscone Center
- 6:32Speaker 2: in San Francisco. I was there. And it takes, I mean,
- 6:35Speaker 2: that's Monday morning rush hour. And the thing started like
- 6:38Speaker 2: at 830 or something. So it took about an hour
- 6:40Speaker 2: to go that 40-some miles from San Jose to downtown
- 6:42Speaker 2: San Francisco. And McDonald talked about that van ride and
- 6:45Speaker 2: the conversation that he had with Kenneth Walker and said
- 6:48Speaker 2: it was about everything pretty much but football. They spent
- 6:51Speaker 2: that whole day together. They flew down to Southern California
- 6:54Speaker 2: together from San Francisco because then Walker went to Disneyland
- 6:59Speaker 2: as a Super Bowl MVP and Mike McDonald went to
- 7:02Speaker 2: Southern California with Walker because he went to Hollywood to
- 7:04Speaker 2: take a Jimmy Kimmel episode from that night. And so
- 7:08Speaker 2: they had a lot of time together, Walker and McDonald,
- 7:10Speaker 2: the day after the Super Bowl, just the two of them.
- 7:12Speaker 2: While the rest of the team, the players and coaches,
- 7:14Speaker 2: flew back to Seattle, McDonald and Walker flew to Los
- 7:19Speaker 2: Angeles in Southern California. So you'll hear from Mike McDonald
- 7:22Speaker 2: talking about that and what really was the end of
- 7:26Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker as a Seahawks Walker knew then. He knew
- 7:29Speaker 2: four days before the Super Bowl when I talked to him.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And when I told you, he said, well, how would
- 7:33Speaker 2: you feel about the job share with Charbonnet? They knew.
- 7:36Speaker 2: They knew that they weren't going to make a competitive
- 7:39Speaker 2: offer and he was going to leave. And here they
- 7:41Speaker 2: are now. The Seahawks are trying to prepare to stop
- 7:44Speaker 2: the NFL's leading rusher Sunday night when the undefeated Chiefs
- 7:47Speaker 2: come in. Julian Love talked about Kenneth Walker at length yesterday.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I talked in the locker room before practice with A.J.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Barner about how much they love Kenneth Walker still. And always,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you'll hear from all of them. Love, Barner and McDonald,
- 8:01Speaker 2: coming up in the show. Remember we told you Monday
- 8:03Speaker 2: about Barner being at the Ronald McDonald House Gala last weekend?
- 8:08Speaker 2: Raised $ 1. 5 million in a couple hours to house families,
- 8:11Speaker 2: feed families of the very sick and needy kids at
- 8:13Speaker 2: Children's Hospital that have to stay for a really long stay.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I talked to Barner yesterday about that, how he got
- 8:18Speaker 2: involved in the Ronald McDonald House and the event itself.
- 8:22Speaker 2: And you'll hear from him in talking about that. And
- 8:25Speaker 2: I'm telling you, man... If you do that, I'm going
- 8:28Speaker 2: to publicize it and trumpet it like I did when
- 8:30Speaker 2: Russell Wilson did it, like I did at the University
- 8:33Speaker 2: of Washington when teams would go over there, the whole
- 8:34Speaker 2: soccer team, and they would just go. And Heather Tarr
- 8:40Speaker 2: would take her whole softball team to Children's Hospital. It
- 8:43Speaker 2: transforms those kids. So you'll hear from A.J. Barner and
- 8:46Speaker 2: how he got into the Ronald McDonald House, including the
- 8:49Speaker 2: My Cause, My Cleats, that he has Ronald McDonald House
- 8:53Speaker 2: awareness on those cleats. And I had him auctioned off
- 8:55Speaker 2: last week. 11 o'clock, our weekly visit with Farhan Lalji,
- 9:00Speaker 2: everyone's friend. One of the more popular things we do
- 9:02Speaker 2: is have Farhan on every week. Very entertaining and knowledgeable,
- 9:05Speaker 2: TSN Canada, my great friend. We're going to talk to him, Jessamyn,
- 9:09Speaker 2: on what we talked about earlier this week. How is
- 9:12Speaker 2: it okay that the NFL is just saying, yeah, what
- 9:15Speaker 2: the Eagles did playing Jalen Hurts with blood clots, it
- 9:18Speaker 2: was all up and up. We were cool with it.
- 9:20Speaker 2: The process was followed. Everything was fine. It just doesn't
- 9:24Speaker 2: seem right. Needless to say.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Yeah, and we have no idea what the inside scope
- 9:31Speaker 5: from the medical staff and everything.
- 9:32Speaker 3: But no, from the outside perspective, it does not seem right.
- 9:37Speaker 1: No.
- 9:37Speaker 3: In any way, shape, or form.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Winning over all costs. But Mike Sando brought up something
- 9:42Speaker 2: the last hour with Chuck that I listened on my
- 9:44Speaker 2: way into the Seahawks today. It was interesting. Mike was saying, yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 2: it looks terrible. But why is the agent signing on
- 9:53Speaker 2: to a statement that the Eagles and the agent put
- 9:56Speaker 2: out together? Nicole Lynn, the agent for Jalen Hurd's, saying
- 10:00Speaker 2: that all the protocols were followed, and she signed off
- 10:03Speaker 2: on that. So if the player's representative seems to be
- 10:06Speaker 2: on board with it, it makes you wonder, why would
- 10:09Speaker 2: she be okay with that? She'd be silent, if nothing else,
- 10:13Speaker 2: if not speaking out against how Jalen Hurts was treated.
- 10:16Speaker 2: So that's an interesting statement. way to a point of
- 10:18Speaker 2: view about this whole thing, but we'll talk to Farhan
- 10:20Speaker 2: about that and a bunch of other things around the NFL,
- 10:23Speaker 2: including is the NFC West done? Is the race over?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Is it Seahawks Rams fighting for wildcard spots now because
- 10:29Speaker 2: the 49ers have a three and a half and four
- 10:31Speaker 2: and a half game lead over those two teams. We'll
- 10:34Speaker 2: talk to him at 11 o'clock, 1130. Your chance to
- 10:36Speaker 2: be a part of the show. Jessamyn's already commanded you
- 10:38Speaker 2: to talk back 30 seconds.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I put it out there a little early.
- 10:43Speaker 5: But yeah, just when Greg's not here, I get a
- 10:45Speaker 5: little lonely and I like to hear your voices.
- 10:47Speaker 3: So that's why I put that out there. And you
- 10:50Speaker 3: know I'll play them.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Just makes my life a little easier if you don't swear.
- 10:54Speaker 5: But if I have the time and you get them
- 10:56Speaker 5: in early, I will beep them.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I tease her, but she does screen them. I do.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I absolutely do.
- 11:01Speaker 2: There is a low bar. If you just put in
- 11:03Speaker 2: talkbacks that don't have any.
- 11:05Speaker 5: I like the creativity that a lot of people put
- 11:07Speaker 5: in there. So, yeah, I love this talkback function, too,
- 11:11Speaker 5: because it just allows us a lot more time to
- 11:13Speaker 5: get more voices on our air from our listenership.
- 11:16Speaker 2: When you go to the website, at the very top
- 11:18Speaker 2: of it, 953kjr. com, at the very top of it, there's
- 11:21Speaker 2: a red microphone button. You click that and you leave
- 11:23Speaker 2: a voicemail message, like you might for your spouse and
- 11:26Speaker 2: pick up milk on the way home or whatever. But
- 11:28Speaker 2: 30 seconds or less, and we'll play that back at 1130.
- 11:32Speaker 5: It gives you a nice little countdown, by the way,
- 11:35Speaker 5: just for your convenience.
- 11:36Speaker 3: It lets you know.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Oh, it does? Yes. Also go to 933KJR. com to find
- 11:43Speaker 2: out the fact or fiction details. The basis of it
- 11:47Speaker 2: is it's 1135 for our show, and if you want
- 11:49Speaker 2: to win $ 1, 000 at 1135, text FACT to 49451. And
- 11:54Speaker 2: if you don't want to win $ 1, 000, text FICTION to 49451.
- 11:57Speaker 2: That's the abridged version of how it works for our show.
- 11:59Speaker 2: We're in first place by far. It's not even close.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Everybody else is under $ 500, and we're way above. So
- 12:08Speaker 2: we tend to pick the right things, and if you
- 12:09Speaker 2: don't want to agree with us, then you don't want
- 12:12Speaker 2: $ 1, 000 anyway. When you also go to the website 933kj. com,
- 12:15Speaker 2: you'll find my Seahawks story about Kenneth Walker, about the
- 12:18Speaker 2: game in Denver last week, about Zach Charbonnet's return. My
- 12:22Speaker 2: writing is now found there.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Yes, let's go. We got Greg.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Whatever that may be worth. I love it. It's sometimes
- 12:31Speaker 2: hard to find because the iHeart National feed pushes down
- 12:35Speaker 2: my Seahawks stories because of any other things that they
- 12:39Speaker 2: want to put in and onto our website that's run
- 12:41Speaker 2: by iHeart. But if you can't find it at the
- 12:44Speaker 2: very front, as it was the Walker story returning Sunday
- 12:47Speaker 2: night to Seattle, That was at the top this morning.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Now it's pushed down by the Bears-Patriots lead story of
- 12:53Speaker 2: previewing tonight's Thursday night game. It's going to be broadcast
- 12:56Speaker 2: on 9.50 a.m. at 5.15 tonight. But then just scroll
- 13:00Speaker 2: down a little bit to the left, and you'll see
- 13:02Speaker 2: my little shiny happy picture face that Rich Moore put
- 13:05Speaker 2: up for me. And our Seahawks coverage is right there.
- 13:09Speaker 5: Read Greg Bell on the Hawks. Read Greg Bell on
- 13:12Speaker 5: the Hawks. Just click there. Every single post that he
- 13:15Speaker 5: has is right there, and it's in chronological order.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Order.
- 13:18Speaker 5: So that's nice. And so, yeah, that Kenneth Walker story
- 13:22Speaker 5: is right up there.
- 13:24Speaker 2: That was from this morning and it was about how
- 13:26Speaker 2: much they still love him. And my question to Mike
- 13:29Speaker 2: McDonald about, do you still have second thoughts? 49451 on
- 13:33Speaker 2: the Tacoma Dodge text line, your opinion about Kenneth Walker.
- 13:37Speaker 2: There are a lot of you opining that Walker would
- 13:39Speaker 2: have returned had they make some kind of money offer
- 13:42Speaker 2: that they did not make. I'm here to submit to
- 13:45Speaker 2: you that Walker was of the frame of mind back
- 13:47Speaker 2: in September that he may be leaving because of this
- 13:50Speaker 2: job share. Think about it. Last year, he played 47%
- 13:53Speaker 2: of the snaps in a contract year. 47. And for
- 13:58Speaker 2: most of the season, until Charbonnet got hurt in January,
- 14:02Speaker 2: he was playing, Walker was playing fewer snaps than Charbonnet
- 14:05Speaker 2: was in a contract year. And He, in fact, went
- 14:09Speaker 2: down from 64% of snaps to 64% in 2024 to 47%
- 14:15Speaker 2: last year. Why was that? Well, in August of 2025,
- 14:21Speaker 2: during the preseason, we were in Green Bay. We were
- 14:24Speaker 2: at the downtown hotel with Mike McDonald. We were meeting there.
- 14:28Speaker 2: It was the hotel that Vince Lombardi first got introduced
- 14:31Speaker 2: as a Packers coach back in the late 50s. Historic place.
- 14:33Speaker 2: There's Vince Lombardi memorabilia all over the lobby of this hotel.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Hotel in downtown Green Bay. And we were just sitting
- 14:39Speaker 2: there drinking beers and talking to Mike McDonald. And at
- 14:43Speaker 2: that time, in August of 2025, he was concerned about
- 14:46Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker's durability to last and stay healthy through the
- 14:50Speaker 2: entire season, which he had yet to do in his
- 14:51Speaker 2: first three seasons with the Seahawks. And he was also
- 14:55Speaker 2: concerned about a foot injury that kept Walker off the
- 14:57Speaker 2: field for much of 2025's training camp. That foot injury
- 14:59Speaker 2: turned out to be related to the high ankle sprain
- 15:02Speaker 2: that Walker had that prematurely ended his 24 season. Remember,
- 15:07Speaker 2: he went on injured reserve in December of 2024, if
- 15:10Speaker 2: anyone remembers that. But it was yet again another season
- 15:13Speaker 2: in which he did not play 17 regular season games.
- 15:17Speaker 2: So the Seahawks decided then, back in the summer of 2025,
- 15:21Speaker 2: to govern him, to limit him, and to do this
- 15:24Speaker 2: job share with Charbonnet. The idea being fewer snaps for
- 15:28Speaker 2: the longer haul of having Walker all 17 games. Now
- 15:32Speaker 2: that certainly benefited the team. Because Zach Charbonnet ended up
- 15:35Speaker 2: rushing for 12 touchdowns during the last regular season, the
- 15:38Speaker 2: most since Marshawn Lynch in 2014 for Seattle. And Walker
- 15:42Speaker 2: played all 17 regular season games for the first time
- 15:45Speaker 2: in his career. But he played the fewest snaps in
- 15:50Speaker 2: his contract year. So for him, while it benefited the
- 15:53Speaker 2: team for sure, it did not benefit Kenneth Walker. And
- 15:57Speaker 2: he was coming off the field inside the 20 yard line.
- 15:59Speaker 2: As soon as the ball got in the red zone,
- 16:00Speaker 2: out comes nine and in comes 26. And Charbonnet scores
- 16:03Speaker 2: 12 touchdowns. Well, then Charbonnet gets hurt in January in
- 16:08Speaker 2: the playoff game, rips out his knee ligaments against San
- 16:11Speaker 2: Francisco in mid-January, and all of a sudden Walker got
- 16:13Speaker 2: what he'd been seeking the whole year, which is a
- 16:15Speaker 2: stage to himself to be the lead back in the
- 16:18Speaker 2: biggest games of the year. The second half of the blowout,
- 16:21Speaker 2: win of the 49ers in a divisional round, the NFC
- 16:23Speaker 2: Championship game against the Rams, and most of all, of course,
- 16:26Speaker 2: the Super Bowl with 200 million people watching in February
- 16:30Speaker 2: when he went wild. 135 yards rushing, two touchdowns, And
- 16:35Speaker 2: everybody then said, whoa, how much money Kenneth Walker just
- 16:38Speaker 2: made for himself in this postseason. And that ultimately is
- 16:42Speaker 2: what priced him out of Seattle. But again, he was
- 16:46Speaker 2: predisposed because of the whole preservation mode that the Seahawks
- 16:49Speaker 2: put him in to get him through 17 games last year.
- 16:52Speaker 2: He was predisposed to say, man, I'm out. I'm going
- 16:55Speaker 2: to go find somebody who will use me 75% of
- 16:58Speaker 2: the time. That's the current snap count offensive usage for
- 17:02Speaker 2: the Chiefs. With Kenneth Walker, 75%, far above what he
- 17:07Speaker 2: ever did in his four seasons with Seattle. That is
- 17:10Speaker 2: just the summarized version of why Kenneth Walker is going
- 17:13Speaker 2: to be in white, red, and gold on Sunday night
- 17:17Speaker 2: instead of Seahawks royal blue. They're wearing their throwbacks again.
- 17:20Speaker 2: They were on the practice field yesterday. Silver helmets, the
- 17:24Speaker 2: royal blue jerseys, silver pants that the Seahawks wore in
- 17:27Speaker 2: Denver last week they'll be wearing on Sunday night. Why
- 17:30Speaker 2: don't we make those permanent?
- 17:32Speaker 3: They're really nice.
- 17:33Speaker 2: What's the problem with just getting rid of the navy
- 17:36Speaker 2: blues and just go with the throwbacks?
- 17:38Speaker 5: Well, I think it makes it more special when it
- 17:41Speaker 5: is a throwback. To be honest, I just really think
- 17:45Speaker 5: it pops a little bit when it's a little bit
- 17:48Speaker 5: different than what you've been used to seeing.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I like the navies.
- 17:52Speaker 5: There's nothing wrong with them, but all of a sudden,
- 17:55Speaker 5: some of the old throwbacks come back.
- 17:58Speaker 3: It creates nostalgia, but... I don't know. I wouldn't want
- 18:01Speaker 3: to see it every week. I want it to be special.
- 18:04Speaker 5: No, I think it's amazing, and I love it, but
- 18:06Speaker 5: I think it makes it more special when you don't
- 18:08Speaker 5: see it every week.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I should have gone into marketing.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Navy's over gray is their best uniform, their current uniforms.
- 18:18Speaker 2: But yeah, they should just go back to the throwbacks,
- 18:21Speaker 2: just full-time. Just do them. They won't, but for me,
- 18:25Speaker 2: I would just go royal blue over silver every home game. 4-9-4-5-1,
- 18:30Speaker 2: how do you feel about that? I think a lot
- 18:31Speaker 2: of you might agree that you take the Royal Blue
- 18:34Speaker 2: throwbacks over those Navy Blues. Up next, the love for
- 18:39Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker inside this building at Seahawk Headquarters. We talked
- 18:42Speaker 2: a lot about it yesterday with a lot of players
- 18:44Speaker 2: and coaches, and you'll hear Mike McDonald answer my question,
- 18:47Speaker 2: do you have second thoughts about letting Kenneth Walker walk?
- 18:50Speaker 2: 11 o'clock, Farhan Lalji of TSN Canada, our weekly visit
- 18:54Speaker 2: of talking around all of NFL, all around the league.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And 1135 Factor Fiction, your chance to win $ 1, 000 from
- 19:00Speaker 2: the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. All that's coming up
- 19:02Speaker 2: from Seahawk Headquarters on a Thursday. Thanks for listening. 93.3 KJRFM.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Welcome back to Seahawks headquarters. Greg Bell, Justin McIntyre is
- 19:31Speaker 2: back in downtown Seattle at our Elliott-based studios, 93.3 KJR FM.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Seahawks back on the practice field today. Sam Darnold is
- 19:40Speaker 2: going to talk at noon press conference. They do a walk-through.
- 19:43Speaker 2: How do Seahawks normal Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays are? They do
- 19:45Speaker 2: a walk-through practice in T-shirt and shorts in the indoor
- 19:48Speaker 2: facility to go over the gameplay. in the mornings. Then
- 19:52Speaker 2: they break around the lunch hour for media, for lunch,
- 19:55Speaker 2: for some treatments. And then about 1.30 they go back
- 19:57Speaker 2: out on the practice field for the fuller practice. Usually
- 20:00Speaker 2: in shells this time of year. The NFL restricts practices,
- 20:05Speaker 2: padded or full pad practices to just 14 once the
- 20:08Speaker 2: regular season starts. Just 14 over a 17-week, 18-counting-by-week regular season.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So the Seahawks will be most likely in shells again
- 20:17Speaker 2: today on Thursday. They'll issue a practice report again yesterday.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Zach Charbonnet was listed as a full-goal participant for the
- 20:23Speaker 2: first time since his knee reconstructive surgery in February. He's
- 20:28Speaker 2: still in the physically unable to perform list. Today is
- 20:31Speaker 2: the day of the 21-day practice window ending, where the
- 20:34Speaker 2: Seahawks must make a decision whether to put him on
- 20:35Speaker 2: the active roster or or to keep him on the
- 20:37Speaker 2: pup list for the rest of the season, meaning out,
- 20:40Speaker 2: essentially IR. So they're going to do that today. They're
- 20:43Speaker 2: going to put him on the active roster. I'm expecting
- 20:44Speaker 2: a corresponding roster move to take someone off the 53-man.
- 20:48Speaker 2: And Zach Charbonnet is going to make his season debut
- 20:51Speaker 2: Sunday night against the Chiefs in some capacity, in the
- 20:54Speaker 2: words of Mike McDonald. Not sure how many carries he'll get.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I doubt he's going to get the full meal deal,
- 20:59Speaker 2: full load, 15 to 20 carries on his very first
- 21:01Speaker 2: game back, eight months after reconstructive knee surgery. The talk
- 21:05Speaker 2: of the week... including around the Seahawks and certainly around
- 21:09Speaker 2: the Chiefs, is Kenneth Walker's return to Seattle. He has
- 21:12Speaker 2: 665 yards rushing through five games. The Chiefs have already
- 21:16Speaker 2: had their bye. Jessamyn, I don't know if you know,
- 21:19Speaker 2: the Seahawks have had nine ball carriers this season, nine
- 21:22Speaker 2: different players, including quarterbacks Drew Locke and Sam Donald, run
- 21:25Speaker 2: the ball.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah, for reasons, yes.
- 21:27Speaker 2: The rushing total for those nine players over six games,
- 21:31Speaker 2: fewer yards than Walker has by himself in five games. Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 3: It hasn't been ideal.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Fewer yards than Walker has by himself. 643 yards total
- 21:42Speaker 2: rushing for the Seahawks through six games. Walker himself, 665
- 21:45Speaker 2: yards rushing in five games for the Chiefs. That's the
- 21:49Speaker 2: most yards over the first five games ever in the
- 21:52Speaker 2: NFL for a running back with a new team.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Ever.
- 21:56Speaker 2: And they play in 75% of the stats for Kansas City.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Andy Reid's keeping them on the field for all three downs.
- 22:02Speaker 2: They've got Patrick Mahomes playing under center far more than
- 22:04Speaker 2: they did before. because of the outside zone run game
- 22:07Speaker 2: that Kenneth Walker is thriving in with the Chiefs. So
- 22:10Speaker 2: you're going to see Mahomes under center way more than
- 22:12Speaker 2: Shotgun than he used to. Mike McDonald talked yesterday about
- 22:16Speaker 2: that and how different that is going to be, the
- 22:18Speaker 2: game plan and how defending the Chiefs has changed because
- 22:21Speaker 2: of Walker and the fact that Mahomes is under center
- 22:23Speaker 2: a lot more. The Chiefs have gone from the second
- 22:26Speaker 2: least productive team under center last year to the second most,
- 22:29Speaker 2: currently the most, according to Sam McDowell, we talked to
- 22:32Speaker 2: yesterday on our show. from the Kansas city star mentioning
- 22:34Speaker 2: that they have now the most productive team under center
- 22:38Speaker 2: because of canine Kenneth Walker. Walker's return is the talk
- 22:42Speaker 2: of the town here in Seattle. Talk of the Seahawks headquarters.
- 22:45Speaker 2: It's what everyone talked about yesterday. And when everyone asked
- 22:47Speaker 2: everybody about yesterday, I asked Mike McDonald, the head coach,
- 22:52Speaker 2: do you have second thoughts about Kenneth Walker leaving and
- 22:55Speaker 2: you letting him walk to Kansas city instead of resigning him?
- 22:58Speaker 2: That answer and more is from the coach right here. Mike, um, Screens.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Andy Reid's known for them. Obviously K9 is known for
- 23:06Speaker 2: them as well. You guys have had some challenges there.
- 23:08Speaker 2: How do you take steps against that part of the game?
- 23:12Speaker 6: Yeah, we looked at the screens over the weekend. I
- 23:14Speaker 6: think there's a couple big plays that distort the... It's
- 23:18Speaker 6: like every old school defensive coordinator is like, if you
- 23:19Speaker 6: take out all the bad plays, you're playing great defense.
- 23:23Speaker 6: So it's part of the... Offenses are allowed to run
- 23:26Speaker 6: any play they want to and our job is to
- 23:29Speaker 6: stop it. So It'll always be a point of assist
- 23:31Speaker 6: for us. It's a team play. It's not any individual player.
- 23:36Speaker 6: We've got to do a great job identifying it and
- 23:38Speaker 6: getting everybody to the party.
- 23:39Speaker 2: With Ken, what do you think of the start he's
- 23:41Speaker 2: off to in Kansas City?
- 23:43Speaker 6: Off to a tremendous start. Stats back it up. Tape
- 23:45Speaker 6: definitely backs it up. He's playing great football.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Did they use him in a different way than you did?
- 23:51Speaker 7: Did you notice anything that's not what you saw him
- 23:54Speaker 7: used in Seattle?
- 23:57Speaker 6: They're executing their offense and And he's moving the ball.
- 24:02Speaker 8: He's scoring.
- 24:02Speaker 6: He's doing a great job.
- 24:04Speaker 2: They're under center a lot more this year than last,
- 24:06Speaker 2: or at least more. Yeah.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Yeah. Probably more frequently than they have in the past.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 7: How does that help running back and how does that
- 24:12Speaker 7: hinder a defense in a run game?
- 24:14Speaker 6: Uh, I just, I think it's a methods principle saying,
- 24:17Speaker 6: I think there's been really effective teams that have run
- 24:19Speaker 6: out of the gun. I know that the trend nowadays
- 24:22Speaker 6: is for more under center. Uh, certain runs are probably
- 24:26Speaker 6: better out of, out of certain sets. So, um, It
- 24:31Speaker 6: also sets up different parts of your game. You move
- 24:35Speaker 6: people and that provides limitations on things that you can
- 24:40Speaker 6: and can't do. It's just how everything's set up. They're
- 24:47Speaker 6: blocking it well under center. Ken's seeing it great and
- 24:51Speaker 6: he's running at a high level.
- 24:53Speaker 7: We know the why, Mike, why Kenneth Walker's in Kansas City,
- 24:57Speaker 7: but From a football perspective, have you had second thoughts
- 25:00Speaker 7: or what-ifs or anything about that?
- 25:04Speaker 6: I'll just say I.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Love Ken.
- 25:09Speaker 6: I thoroughly enjoyed him being on our football team. We've
- 25:15Speaker 6: had some great one-on-one conversations. I feel like we have
- 25:19Speaker 6: a great relationship. I respect the heck out of him.
- 25:22Speaker 6: I'm happy for him. Obviously, we have to do a
- 25:25Speaker 6: great job of stopping him this week. I think, I think,
- 25:29Speaker 6: I think there's mixed emotions in terms of like, you're
- 25:31Speaker 6: happy for him, but also the way we're trying to
- 25:33Speaker 6: figure out ways to stop this guy too, because he's playing,
- 25:35Speaker 6: he's playing a really high level.
- 25:37Speaker 2: How did it end? Cause you went to Disneyland with him.
- 25:39Speaker 7: If I remember after the Superbowl, was there a departure,
- 25:44Speaker 7: a chance to say goodbye or any of that?
- 25:46Speaker 2: Or did he just leave with his decision? And that
- 25:48Speaker 2: was that.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Well, I think for everybody after the Superbowl, no one's
- 25:53Speaker 6: really hanging out, but yeah, we, we, We had a
- 25:56Speaker 6: media session. It was just us in the van for
- 25:58Speaker 6: like an hour. We were talking all sorts of stuff.
- 26:03Speaker 6: Really nothing about football. That's what I'm referencing. I have
- 26:09Speaker 6: nothing but great memories. We appreciate the heck out of
- 26:11Speaker 6: them guys. Super Bowl MVP helped us win a championship.
- 26:15Speaker 6: These things happen. We have to move forward now. Nothing
- 26:20Speaker 6: but great things and great memories of camp.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Mike McDonald yesterday talking about Kenneth Walker. He didn't really
- 26:28Speaker 2: answer the question whether he had second thoughts. He just said,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I love Kenneth Walker. Julian Love said the same thing.
- 26:33Speaker 2: What else did he say? Well, I thought he might
- 26:37Speaker 2: say something to the effect of there's no doubt that
- 26:41Speaker 2: we would love to have him and it just didn't
- 26:43Speaker 2: work out or whatever. He didn't really say that. He
- 26:46Speaker 2: went on to say these things happen, meaning the business
- 26:49Speaker 2: of the NFL. Julian Love, the Pro Bowl safety, the veteran,
- 26:52Speaker 2: said the same thing. And talking about Kenneth Walker yesterday too.
- 26:56Speaker 9: What's it like just when you see Ken on the
- 26:58Speaker 9: other side and kind of just see the success he's
- 27:00Speaker 9: having and what that challenge will be like for you
- 27:02Speaker 9: guys this weekend?
- 27:03Speaker 10: Yeah, it's weird for sure.
- 27:06Speaker 11: Doing what he did for us last season or past
- 27:09Speaker 11: bunch of seasons for the Seahawks. And he has just,
- 27:13Speaker 11: he's left off where he, you know, he's picked up
- 27:15Speaker 11: where he's left off from last season. He's playing, his
- 27:18Speaker 11: tape looks incredible. And so it's all hands on deck
- 27:21Speaker 11: effort to try to contain and try to stop him.
- 27:24Speaker 11: He looks every bit as explosive as he's had for
- 27:26Speaker 11: the Seahawks.
- 27:27Speaker 7: Well, the guys on the team, you guys get it,
- 27:29Speaker 7: the business of football. You understood why Walker left and
- 27:32Speaker 7: why they didn't keep him. And then the veteran committee
- 27:35Speaker 7: that you guys have in the council, did they come
- 27:37Speaker 7: to you in the offseason and say, here's our strategy,
- 27:39Speaker 7: this is why we're going to do this?
- 27:41Speaker 2: No. You're never part of that, right?
- 27:43Speaker 10: No, no, we're definitely never part of that. Are you
- 27:45Speaker 10: guys sitting.
- 27:45Speaker 2: There wondering how come we don't have number nine in
- 27:47Speaker 2: our backfield?
- 27:48Speaker 11: I mean, it's– it's crazy when you look at the
- 27:51Speaker 11: tape and see, oh man, this guy is incredible.
- 27:54Speaker 2: We knew that he was incredible.
- 27:55Speaker 11: Um, but that's just, that's people above us. Um, I
- 27:58Speaker 11: think the players will always have a bond and a
- 28:01Speaker 11: love and respect for a canine. Um, a lot of
- 28:04Speaker 11: guys in here, you know, are, are incredibly close with
- 28:06Speaker 11: him still. Um, and we will, because of what we
- 28:10Speaker 11: did last year, that bond will be forever. Um, we'll
- 28:13Speaker 11: always kind of be attached. Um, but you know, while
- 28:16Speaker 11: he wears another Jersey, we have to attack him just
- 28:17Speaker 11: like anybody else with another Jersey.
- 28:19Speaker 10: Um, I think he would want that. I think, uh,
- 28:21Speaker 10: that's just how it is in this league.
- 28:23Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 28:23Speaker 10: But those, those conversations are a way above players heads.
- 28:26Speaker 2: How aware, how aware are you of the 35 game
- 28:29Speaker 2: franchise record.
- 28:30Speaker 13: Without allowing, um, 100 yard rusher?
- 28:33Speaker 10: And is this the biggest challenge you've had to date
- 28:36Speaker 10: and trying to.
- 28:38Speaker 11: Uh, I mean, definitely it's a huge challenge today. Um, I,
- 28:42Speaker 11: I hear that stat every, you know, bunch of games.
- 28:44Speaker 11: Somebody says that I think when we play great running backs,
- 28:46Speaker 11: that always kind of comes up.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Um, I don't know.
- 28:49Speaker 11: I think it's kind of our collective style. I don't
- 28:50Speaker 11: think anyone on defense is realizing that in the moment.
- 28:55Speaker 11: We're just trying to, whoever's running the ball, try to
- 28:56Speaker 11: stop the run and defend the pass. And the stats
- 29:00Speaker 11: kind of show what the stats show. Yeah, and our job,
- 29:03Speaker 11: I mean, just not with him, with their other backs
- 29:06Speaker 11: as well, is like, just not let them go campus
- 29:08Speaker 11: legend mode while they're here.
- 29:09Speaker 10: Try to stop the run. And yeah, just play sound defense.
- 29:14Speaker 9: In training camps, when you guys would go 1v1s, you
- 29:17Speaker 9: know ken was obviously a lot of times the guy
- 29:19Speaker 9: back there is there anything from those experiences that whether
- 29:22Speaker 9: it's mannerisms style you know traits whatever that help you
- 29:28Speaker 9: guys at all this.
- 29:29Speaker 11: Week yeah i think what always impressed me about him
- 29:31Speaker 11: was that he always just practiced really hard um every
- 29:34Speaker 11: run that he got in practice he would finish in
- 29:36Speaker 11: the end zone um and we could be 70 yards
- 29:39Speaker 11: uh kind of on the opposite 30.
- 29:41Speaker 10: Um, that's just kind of how he worked.
- 29:44Speaker 11: Um, and his ability, I mean, like I kind of said,
- 29:47Speaker 11: it is really good contact balance. His, his balance ability,
- 29:50Speaker 11: his cutback ability. Um, he just, his center of gravity
- 29:53Speaker 11: is always changing and that's what makes him a tough tackle.
- 29:55Speaker 2: And you've seen it.
- 29:56Speaker 11: He's a ton of explosives this year cause people just
- 29:58Speaker 11: don't know how to tackle him. Um, And so, yeah,
- 30:01Speaker 11: I think he has all the traits of being a
- 30:04Speaker 11: huge point of emphasis.
- 30:05Speaker 13: Aside from the playoff run last season, Ken mostly split
- 30:08Speaker 13: carries with Zach over those three or four years.
- 30:10Speaker 12: Is it at all.
- 30:11Speaker 13: Surprising he's on track for a career high in carries, yards, touchdowns,
- 30:14Speaker 13: all that, that he's become that bell cow?
- 30:16Speaker 10: Definitely not surprising.
- 30:18Speaker 11: I think I don't know how many people on the
- 30:21Speaker 11: team have played against him before. My last year in
- 30:24Speaker 11: New York, I played against a rookie canine, and he
- 30:26Speaker 11: was every bit as incredible back then. He had a
- 30:29Speaker 11: dynamic rookie year. I think it's just he's not playing better.
- 30:33Speaker 11: I think he's just getting the ball a little bit more. So, yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 11: that production rate is still super high. He's just getting
- 30:39Speaker 11: now a lot more touches.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Julian Love, the Pro Bowl veteran, really good with the media,
- 30:46Speaker 2: putting things in perspective. He's the best. Our job is
- 30:48Speaker 2: not to let Kenneth Walker go campus legends mode. The
- 30:54Speaker 2: streak alluded to there is 35 games since the Seahawks
- 30:57Speaker 2: have allowed a 100-yard rusher. James Cook of the Bills
- 31:00Speaker 2: in October of the 2024 season, the first season Mike
- 31:03Speaker 2: McDonald was the head coach of the Seahawks. That's the
- 31:06Speaker 2: last time someone's run for 100 on Seattle. That's their task.
- 31:09Speaker 2: You're going to hear that stat Sunday night during the
- 31:11Speaker 2: broadcast as well. The Seahawks with Kenneth Walker coming in
- 31:14Speaker 2: averaging 117-plus yards a game. A.J. Barner was in the
- 31:20Speaker 2: locker room before practice yesterday talking also about Kenneth Walker.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I asked him. about how much he's beloved inside the
- 31:27Speaker 2: locker room. How beloved is Kenneth Walker still in this
- 31:29Speaker 2: locker room? I think he's loved for sure.
- 31:32Speaker 14: I mean, I'm a big fan of K-9. He was
- 31:35Speaker 14: a great back for us. Obviously part of the business
- 31:38Speaker 14: that someone, you know, when you move on from a player,
- 31:41Speaker 14: but I think, you know, a lot of us still
- 31:43Speaker 14: have so much respect for K-9 and want the best
- 31:45Speaker 14: for him. You know, obviously we want to play well
- 31:49Speaker 14: on Sunday, but when I see him, you know, have
- 31:51Speaker 14: success on other games, I'm always a big fan.
- 31:56Speaker 2: In a week like this, dude, when you're watching film,
- 31:58Speaker 2: you're going, oh, dang, why do we not have him
- 31:59Speaker 2: on our team anymore?
- 32:01Speaker 14: I mean, yeah, I mean, obviously he's such a spectacular
- 32:04Speaker 14: talent that you see the plays he's making, and it's like,
- 32:07Speaker 14: you know, that would be nice to have around. But,
- 32:11Speaker 14: you know, I think we have confidence in the guys
- 32:13Speaker 14: that are here and coming back from injuries. So we're
- 32:16Speaker 14: excited to get everyone back, but we know K-9's a
- 32:18Speaker 14: great player.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Like you said, that's the business, right? Yeah, unfortunately, yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 2: part of.
- 32:22Speaker 14: The business when– Teams make decisions, players make decisions, and
- 32:26Speaker 14: everyone's got to move forward.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Thank you, sir.
- 32:29Speaker 12: Yes, sir, of course.
- 32:31Speaker 2: A.J. Barner at his locker right before practice yesterday. Think
- 32:36Speaker 2: about it. If you're watching film, Jessamyn, this week, and
- 32:39Speaker 2: you're studying the Chiefs offense, especially defensive players, and you're
- 32:42Speaker 2: seeing number nine in a Chiefs uniform just running all
- 32:46Speaker 2: over the NFL, you'd be like, wait a minute. He
- 32:48Speaker 2: was just in our locker room eight months ago winning
- 32:50Speaker 2: a Super Bowl MVP for us. Why is he not here?
- 32:53Speaker 5: Well, yeah, but his season was very different leading up
- 32:57Speaker 5: to that, you know, national moment that we all saw
- 33:00Speaker 5: and everything. And I just thought that the Seahawks, for
- 33:04Speaker 5: their season last year, did everything right between the splits.
- 33:08Speaker 5: You know, between Charbonnet and himself. I just thought it
- 33:11Speaker 5: worked well. And what is the end goal? To win
- 33:15Speaker 5: a Super Bowl. K-9 was fresh for that. It's why
- 33:17Speaker 5: he got the MVP. And as Coach Mack would say,
- 33:20Speaker 5: that is unsustainable. But if you save it for the
- 33:24Speaker 5: playoffs and a Super Bowl championship, then it is sustainable
- 33:28Speaker 5: for that short period of time. I'm so happy for
- 33:31Speaker 5: Kenneth doing everything that he's doing. But man, I hope
- 33:35Speaker 5: it doesn't wear on him because I... I truly root
- 33:38Speaker 5: for him, just not against the Seahawks.
- 33:40Speaker 2: 49451, coming out of Texas, do you agree with Jessamyn?
- 33:44Speaker 2: The Seahawks did the right thing last year in the
- 33:46Speaker 2: way they managed Kenneth Walker with a job share with
- 33:49Speaker 2: Zach Sarbanet. It's an interesting way to put it. Up next, A.J. Barner.
- 33:53Speaker 2: More from A.J. Barner. I talked to him about how
- 33:56Speaker 2: he got involved with the Ronald McDonald House. His gala
- 33:58Speaker 2: event he had with Steve Rabel and Jim Zorn last
- 34:00Speaker 2: week and raised $ 1. 5 billion in just a couple hours
- 34:04Speaker 2: for the families of the very sick children who have
- 34:07Speaker 2: to stay long-term at Children's Hospital in Seattle, right across
- 34:10Speaker 2: the street from the Ronald McDonald House in the Lowellhurst
- 34:12Speaker 2: neighborhood of our city. You'll hear from A.J. Barner how
- 34:16Speaker 2: he got involved in this great, worthwhile cause and what
- 34:19Speaker 2: it means to him next. 11 o'clock, Farhan Lalji, TSN Canada,
- 34:22Speaker 2: our NFL expert. We do it every week at Thursday
- 34:25Speaker 2: at 11 o'clock. And then 11.35, Factor Fiction, your latest
- 34:28Speaker 2: chance to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Resort.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Jessamyn has the comms today in an NFL pick at 1135.
- 34:34Speaker 2: All that's coming up from Seahawks headquarters on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Welcome back to the show, the Greg Will Show. Desmond
- 35:04Speaker 2: McIntyre is back at the Elliott Bay Studios in downtown Seattle.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I'm out at SEAC headquarters along Lake Washington. Tonight, remember,
- 35:13Speaker 2: 9.50 a.m. has got your NFL game. Excuse me, the
- 35:17Speaker 2: Patriots at the Bears in Chicago. 5.15 on the a.m. side.
- 35:20Speaker 2: It's on the a.m. because FM's got crackin' hockey tonight.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I misspoke earlier. It's a 7 o'clock puck drop because
- 35:27Speaker 2: of national television. 6.30 pregame show with the captain Mike Benton.
- 35:30Speaker 2: 7 o'clock puck drop. Utah Mammoth at Climate Pledge Arena
- 35:34Speaker 2: to play the Kraken. Kraken have their most wins through
- 35:37Speaker 2: ten games yet of their franchise history. Six seasons. This
- 35:41Speaker 2: is six wins, three losses, and an overtime loss. That's
- 35:45Speaker 2: most wins in ten games to start a season. Loving it.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Going for number seven tonight against Utah. Then they're home
- 35:51Speaker 2: against Minnesota. And then they're home again next week against Toronto.
- 35:55Speaker 2: So a homestand here for the Kraken. Continuing their night
- 35:58Speaker 2: against Utah at 7 o'clock, Buckyard Pier. with Everett Fitzhugh
- 36:01Speaker 2: and Al Kaminsky on 93.3 KJRFM, your home of the Kraken.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Farhan Lalji is going to join us at 11 o'clock,
- 36:07Speaker 2: talk all around the NFL like we do every week
- 36:10Speaker 2: at that time. AJ Barner, I talked to Seahawks tight
- 36:13Speaker 2: end yesterday before practice about Kenneth Walker, about some other things,
- 36:17Speaker 2: and about the Ronald McDonald House that he's involved in.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Remember earlier this week I told you Barner, Steve Rabel,
- 36:23Speaker 2: and Jim Zorn, Seahawks legends, were out. at a gala
- 36:27Speaker 2: event benefiting the Ronald McDonald House, an annual event they have.
- 36:31Speaker 2: It raised $ 1. 5 million in just a couple hours Saturday night.
- 36:35Speaker 2: That's how A.J. Barner spent his mini-buy weekend off after
- 36:38Speaker 2: the Seahawks played in Denver on Thursday. Awesome cause. I mean,
- 36:43Speaker 2: think about how much it would cost families that have
- 36:47Speaker 2: children that have to be an inpatient in Seattle Children's Hospital.
- 36:51Speaker 2: In the Laurelhurst section of Seattle, to stay in a
- 36:54Speaker 2: hotel or an Airbnb in northeast Seattle for two weeks,
- 36:58Speaker 2: 30 days, 60, 90 days, that would bankrupt people. It
- 37:02Speaker 2: would bankrupt anybody.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Through the devastating medical bills that they're probably dealing with
- 37:06Speaker 5: as well.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Exactly. On top of the stress, the Ronald McDonald House
- 37:11Speaker 2: houses them in a great, comfortable setting among trees, across
- 37:15Speaker 2: the street, in Laurelhurst, right across the street from Seattle Children's.
- 37:20Speaker 2: They feed them. They have people that bring in food
- 37:23Speaker 2: for them, all from donations, the Ronald McDonald Charities. But that,
- 37:28Speaker 2: in particular, is an awesome one, the Ronald McDonald House.
- 37:31Speaker 2: So I asked AJ Barner how he got involved in this.
- 37:34Speaker 2: I think I answered this once, but how did you
- 37:36Speaker 2: get involved with Ronald McDonald? I started working with Ronald
- 37:40Speaker 2: McDonald House. I was actually able to work with McDonald's
- 37:44Speaker 2: as a partner and.
- 37:44Speaker 14: Then kind of took it to another level and wanted
- 37:46Speaker 14: to work with the house. So I've been working with
- 37:49Speaker 14: them for over a year now. And then also the
- 37:52Speaker 14: connection with the Seattle Children's Hospital. So I've met a
- 37:56Speaker 14: lot of great people at the house specifically and like
- 37:58Speaker 14: worked helping them make food for the families, meeting the families.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Meeting some of the kids.
- 38:05Speaker 14: But majority of it is like obviously the kids and
- 38:09Speaker 14: what they have going on, but like for them to
- 38:11Speaker 14: be able to house the families during.
- 38:14Speaker 10: That time is definitely like what it's all about.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Had you been to a Ronald McDonald house before that?
- 38:19Speaker 14: I don't think I did before I came out to Seattle,
- 38:22Speaker 14: but I've been multiple times now to the Seattle one,
- 38:25Speaker 14: went to the gala, and then also have been to
- 38:28Speaker 14: the children's hospital many times, like a bunch of my
- 38:31Speaker 14: other teammates.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:32Speaker 10: And how did you first get in with McDonald's?
- 38:35Speaker 14: Just kind of like a marketing, yeah, just kind of
- 38:37Speaker 14: like a Western Seattle deal, and then I wanted to
- 38:42Speaker 14: do my Cosmic Leaps with the house.
- 38:44Speaker 12: Right.
- 38:46Speaker 14: And from there, I've just built a great relationship with
- 38:49Speaker 14: the people that work there and visit there quite often.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Because that's really expensive for families, some of those stays
- 38:55Speaker 2: for those kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it not is.
- 38:57Speaker 14: So a lot of it's, like, the funding that they
- 38:59Speaker 14: get from people donating and all that. So it takes
- 39:03Speaker 14: a big burden off the families. A lot of them
- 39:05Speaker 14: come in from out of state, too. There's families from
- 39:07Speaker 14: Alaska or all over Washington.
- 39:09Speaker 2: So, yeah, it's great. Well, good on you. Thank you.
- 39:12Speaker 2: You're welcome. AJ Barnum, the Seahawks tight end. He's from Aurora, Ohio,
- 39:17Speaker 2: about an hour north of where I grew up in Steubenville, Ohio.
- 39:19Speaker 2: He went to the University or Indiana University and then
- 39:22Speaker 2: he went to the University of Michigan for his final
- 39:24Speaker 2: college season before the Seahawks drafted him three years ago.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I don't often end my interviews with players saying good
- 39:29Speaker 2: on you. and congratulating for what they do. But as
- 39:32Speaker 2: I've said, you do this. You do something that benefits
- 39:36Speaker 2: Children's Hospital, the kids there, the families there, Ronald McDonald
- 39:40Speaker 2: House right across the street from the hospital. You do that,
- 39:42Speaker 2: I'm going to publicize it. I did it for Russell Wilson.
- 39:45Speaker 2: I did it for visits. I have a personal connection
- 39:48Speaker 2: there where my wife's been working there for over 20 years.
- 39:51Speaker 2: And as A.J. Barner mentioned, my wife has patients from
- 39:54Speaker 2: all over, from China, from Alaska, from Oregon, Idaho, Montana,
- 40:00Speaker 2: the East Coast, everywhere. And those people don't have connections
- 40:04Speaker 2: to Seattle oftentimes. Or even if you're from Yakima or Wenatchee,
- 40:09Speaker 2: you're not going to commute driving over to be able
- 40:11Speaker 2: to see your sick child in a hospital. You want
- 40:13Speaker 2: to be right there. Well, to be right there costs
- 40:15Speaker 2: money in Seattle, a lot of money. And those stays
- 40:18Speaker 2: are often long-term stays. Those kids, I mean, that's huge
- 40:23Speaker 2: to have your family there. Ronald McDonald House makes it
- 40:26Speaker 2: possible for their families to be there. So good on A.J.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Barner for spending his off time last weekend raising money.
- 40:33Speaker 2: He auctioned those cleats he mentioned. My cause, my cleats.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Every November, the NFL does that. And his cleats last
- 40:40Speaker 2: year were Ronald McDonald, the Ronald McDonald House. It was fantastic.
- 40:43Speaker 2: a hand-drawing, crayon drawing by children for Ronald McDonald Charities,
- 40:49Speaker 2: and that's what Barner auctioned off as part of the
- 40:51Speaker 2: $ 1. 5 million that they raised for the Ronald McDonald House.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I love that.
- 40:56Speaker 5: I think it's a wonderful cause, and I know that
- 40:58Speaker 5: sometimes we'll kind of push back on the pink gear
- 41:03Speaker 5: that the NFL takes a chunk of.
- 41:04Speaker 3: This was an authentic... auction.
- 41:07Speaker 5: Right here in seattle and those my cause my cleats
- 41:12Speaker 5: those actually go directly to the causes that they choose
- 41:15Speaker 5: and i think more people should be aware of that
- 41:18Speaker 5: it's not the same thing that an nfl gets a
- 41:20Speaker 5: bite of.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Correct and it's the players who get to choose and
- 41:25Speaker 2: their own auctions and their own charities and their own
- 41:27Speaker 2: awareness raising awareness for that'll be coming up again next
- 41:30Speaker 2: month for every the annual thing that the nfl and
- 41:34Speaker 2: their players do Good on A.J. Barner, for sure. Thank
- 41:39Speaker 2: you for him. Thanks for the text line. A lot
- 41:42Speaker 2: of people commenting on the Tacoma Dodge text line, 49451,
- 41:46Speaker 2: about Jessamyn's point that the Seahawks did it right last
- 41:48Speaker 2: year because they won the Super Bowl splitting the running back.
- 41:51Speaker 2: And they got.
- 41:52Speaker 3: That's the goal.
- 41:53Speaker 2: They got Kenneth Walker through 17 games for the first
- 41:56Speaker 2: time in his career. It cost them keeping him, but
- 41:59Speaker 2: they won the Super Bowl doing it, and that's what
- 42:02Speaker 2: the team is all about, so... A lot of you
- 42:04Speaker 2: commenting about that as well. Reback your text at 1130,
- 42:07Speaker 2: 1135 Factor Fiction. Your chance to win $ 1, 000. Jessamyn's going
- 42:10Speaker 2: to have to pick today on the NFL. And up next,
- 42:14Speaker 2: our buddy Farhan Lalati from TSN Canada joins us every
- 42:18Speaker 2: week on Thursday at 11 o'clock to talk about all
- 42:20Speaker 2: things NFL. Jalen Hurts, how badly did the Eagles do this,
- 42:24Speaker 2: and why is the NFL just going along with it?
- 42:26Speaker 2: Why is his agent going along with the Eagles going
- 42:29Speaker 2: along with how it all went down? that he played
- 42:31Speaker 2: with blood clots that are now in his lungs and
- 42:33Speaker 2: have him out for the season. And is the NFC
- 42:35Speaker 2: West already over? The Seahawks are three and a half
- 42:37Speaker 2: games back already, six games into the season. The Rams
- 42:40Speaker 2: are four and a half back from the unbeaten 49ers.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Does Farhan think the Seahawks and Rams are just playing
- 42:45Speaker 2: for a wild card at this point? We'll talk to
- 42:48Speaker 2: him next on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Now, from the Star Reynolds Sports Desk, your 93.3 KJR
- 43:02Speaker 1: FM Sports Headlines.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Hi, welcome back. Thanks for listening. Headlines are brought to
- 43:07Speaker 2: you by Frostbrew Coors Light. As cold as the Rockies,
- 43:09Speaker 2: I'm here at Seahawks headquarters where just a couple minutes ago,
- 43:12Speaker 2: the Seahawks made official what they knew they were going
- 43:14Speaker 2: to do today. They have activated Zach Charbonnet from the
- 43:17Speaker 2: physically unable to perform list onto the 53-man active roster.
- 43:21Speaker 2: That clears him now ready to go for his season debut,
- 43:24Speaker 2: most likely to come Sunday night when the undefeated Kansas
- 43:27Speaker 2: City Chiefs come in to Lumen Field. Zach Charbonnet now
- 43:31Speaker 2: on the 53, off of the physically unable to perform list,
- 43:33Speaker 2: onto the 53-man roster as of a couple minutes ago.
- 43:36Speaker 2: The Seahawks put tight end Elijah Arroyo on injured reserve.
- 43:40Speaker 2: That's the corresponding move to get Charbonnet on the 53.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Arroyo injured his shoulder in the Seahawks' overtime loss at
- 43:46Speaker 2: Denver last week. The NFL Week 7 begins tonight with
- 43:50Speaker 2: Patriots at Bears on the 9.50 a.m. side of KJR.
- 43:53Speaker 2: 5.15 kickoff, Patriots at Bears. The FM side's got the
- 43:57Speaker 2: Kraken tonight. Their most wins through the first ten games
- 44:01Speaker 2: of a season, six in franchise history. Kraken hosting Utah
- 44:05Speaker 2: tonight at Climate Pledge Arena. Mike Benton's pregame is at 6.30,
- 44:07Speaker 2: and a puck drop on national television is at 7
- 44:10Speaker 2: o'clock right here on 93.3 KJR FM. WNBA Finals, Atlanta
- 44:14Speaker 2: leads Golden State two games to one after the Dream
- 44:16Speaker 2: won game three last night. Names are continuing to be
- 44:19Speaker 2: reported as candidates to be the Mariners' new manager. Those
- 44:22Speaker 2: names include former Twins manager Rocco Boldelli, recently fired Trashcans
- 44:27Speaker 2: manager Joe Espada, Ken Rosenthal, the athletic, reporting that the
- 44:31Speaker 2: Mariners are nearing the end of their process to hire
- 44:34Speaker 2: a replacement for Dan Wilson. The World Series begins tomorrow night.
- 44:38Speaker 2: It's the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers, two
- 44:41Speaker 2: best teams in each league this season. Milwaukee-Tampa Bay, the
- 44:44Speaker 2: first World Series since 1980, Royals-Phillies. that both teams haven't
- 44:48Speaker 2: won it before. College football, Washington's off this week. The
- 44:53Speaker 2: Huskies have a bye before they go to Nebraska next week.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Washington State is home this Saturday. They play at 3
- 44:59Speaker 2: o'clock in Martin Stadium against 21st-ranked Boise State in a
- 45:02Speaker 2: newly formed Pac-12 game. Now we go to a tour
- 45:07Speaker 2: of the NFL, our weekly tour with our buddy Farhan
- 45:09Speaker 2: Lalji of TSN Canada. Covers all things NFL. He was
- 45:13Speaker 2: in the press box with me last week in Denver.
- 45:17Speaker 2: watching the Seahawks lose an overtime to the Broncos. I
- 45:19Speaker 2: have a feeling he's going to be in the press
- 45:21Speaker 2: box at Lumen Field on Sunday night to see Kenneth
- 45:24Speaker 2: Walker's return to Seattle Chiefs and Seahawks on Sunday night.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Farhan joins us on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline. Hello, sir.
- 45:30Speaker 12: How are you, buddy?
- 45:33Speaker 4: It should be an exciting one. The two teams I
- 45:35Speaker 4: probably cover closer than anybody else in the league.
- 45:37Speaker 12: Are going to get on the field, so it'll be
- 45:39Speaker 12: a lot of fun.
- 45:40Speaker 2: That's true. Kenneth Walker.
- 45:42Speaker 12: But how about that matchup with Kenneth Walker coming back?
- 45:45Speaker 2: How about? Not only. He's leading the NFL. As I
- 45:49Speaker 2: mentioned earlier, he has more yards than nine Seahawks. More
- 45:52Speaker 2: yards in five games. The Chiefs have already had their bye.
- 45:55Speaker 2: More yards in five games for Kenneth Walker than all
- 45:58Speaker 2: nine Seahawks who've run the ball this year have in
- 46:00Speaker 2: six games total. More than the whole team. 75% of
- 46:05Speaker 2: the snaps Walker's playing for Andy Reid. He's used them
- 46:07Speaker 2: in the pass game. He's used them under center. He's
- 46:09Speaker 2: used them in shotgun runs, outside zone, screens, route trees
- 46:13Speaker 2: down the field. Is this sustainable, Farhan? Do you see 75%
- 46:19Speaker 2: of the snaps, 20-plus carries all season long for Kenneth Walker?
- 46:23Speaker 2: It's the reason the Seahawks didn't resign him, didn't think
- 46:26Speaker 2: he could last a full season doing that workload.
- 46:30Speaker 12: Yeah, that's the big question, right?
- 46:31Speaker 4: And you look at around the league, you know, we
- 46:33Speaker 4: talk about the NFC West and, you know, whether or
- 46:36Speaker 4: not some of these guys are going to be able
- 46:37Speaker 4: to sustain themselves.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 46:38Speaker 4: We're going to get to the division in a moment,
- 46:40Speaker 4: but it's wild what they've done here. And that was
- 46:43Speaker 4: what Kenneth Walker.
- 46:44Speaker 12: Always wanted, right? Like the Hawks didn't believe it. He's
- 46:47Speaker 12: had some injuries from time to time.
- 46:48Speaker 4: In previous seasons. And I think they were wise for
- 46:51Speaker 4: how they handled it a year ago. I thought they
- 46:53Speaker 4: were I thought the decision to move on from him
- 46:56Speaker 4: was justifiable. But then, you know, when you I understand
- 47:01Speaker 4: the decision wasn't a choice between Walker and Rashid Shaheed.
- 47:05Speaker 4: But it certainly has played out that way when you
- 47:06Speaker 4: look at the similarities in the contracts.
- 47:08Speaker 7: Right.
- 47:09Speaker 4: And the lack of production for one versus the immense
- 47:11Speaker 4: production of the other.
- 47:12Speaker 12: But it's worked, right?
- 47:14Speaker 4: And it works until it doesn't. And when you look
- 47:16Speaker 4: at Kansas City's offensive line, they're very good in the interior.
- 47:19Speaker 4: They've got questions on the edges, especially now with the
- 47:22Speaker 4: back injury for Simmons. Right now, it doesn't look like
- 47:25Speaker 4: it's going to require surgery, but that is all kind
- 47:28Speaker 4: of part of the puzzle in terms of his ability
- 47:31Speaker 4: to be sustainable with that kind of load. I don't
- 47:34Speaker 4: think the Seahawks ever believed he could have that big
- 47:36Speaker 4: a part of the passing game that he's had right now.
- 47:38Speaker 4: And you can see in training camp that they really
- 47:40Speaker 4: wanted to test that.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you said that too. Yeah, you said that. Yeah.
- 47:46Speaker 12: Yeah. And it was, it was evident that they wanted
- 47:47Speaker 12: to do that.
- 47:48Speaker 4: And, you know, we're seeing him more in the screen
- 47:50Speaker 4: game and within five yards of the line of scrimmage
- 47:52Speaker 4: than we are necessarily down the field, but he's taken
- 47:54Speaker 4: some shots down the field.
- 47:55Speaker 12: And they're not afraid to do that. And I think
- 47:58Speaker 12: at some point in the season, the offense is going
- 48:00Speaker 12: to revert back to Patrick Mahomes, right?
- 48:02Speaker 4: And look, Mahomes is still the maestro and he's got
- 48:05Speaker 4: his finger prints on all of it, but it'll probably
- 48:07Speaker 4: be a little bit bigger of a load on Mahomes
- 48:10Speaker 4: as he gets more comfortable and that much farther removed
- 48:12Speaker 4: from his knee injury. But, you know, Andy Reid's pretty smart.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Eric Bien-Ami's pretty smart. They're probably going to find a
- 48:18Speaker 4: way at some point during a five-game stretch midseason where
- 48:21Speaker 4: they reduce his numbers down to about 15 or 16
- 48:24Speaker 4: carries a game and reduce his touches, not eliminate them,
- 48:27Speaker 4: but just reduce them a little bit and potentially still
- 48:29Speaker 4: more than what he ever did in a dual backfield
- 48:31Speaker 4: role in Seattle. You know, they've got that other young
- 48:34Speaker 4: running back that they've also got out of the draft
- 48:36Speaker 4: that I think they like, that they're going to increase
- 48:38Speaker 4: his role as well.
- 48:39Speaker 12: So let's see what it looks like. I think there's a...
- 48:41Speaker 12: I think there's a plan there for them.
- 48:43Speaker 4: To execute, which I think they're going to need to
- 48:46Speaker 4: execute if they want Walker at his best at.
- 48:49Speaker 12: The end of the year, much like he was last year.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Rookie, you're talking about Emmitt Johnson from Nebraska. We had
- 48:54Speaker 2: Sam McDowell from Kansas City Star talking about him yesterday,
- 48:57Speaker 2: but saying that Kenneth Walker is getting all of the
- 49:00Speaker 2: reps right now over Emmitt Johnson, the rookie from Nebraska.
- 49:04Speaker 12: Hey, what about the streak? What about the Seahawks' streak
- 49:06Speaker 12: of not.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Allowing the 100-yard rusher?
- 49:08Speaker 3: 35 games.
- 49:09Speaker 12: You don't think Kenneth Walker's got that circled?
- 49:13Speaker 2: Yes, he does. He knows that. He was on the
- 49:15Speaker 2: team in 2024 when James Cook ran.
- 49:17Speaker 12: Absolutely. Yeah.
- 49:20Speaker 2: He knows about that for sure. That's the big subplot
- 49:22Speaker 2: to the game on Sunday at Lumenfield. Chiefs, undefeated Chiefs,
- 49:25Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker, the NFL rushing leader against what has been
- 49:28Speaker 2: one of the best NFL rush defenses the last couple seasons.
- 49:31Speaker 2: All right, you were in the press box with me,
- 49:33Speaker 2: sitting next to me in Denver in the stadium there.
- 49:35Speaker 2: You watched Emmanuel Wilson play. running outside zone and just
- 49:39Speaker 2: not getting to the holes before they closed. What are
- 49:43Speaker 2: they going to do at running back? What do you
- 49:44Speaker 2: think the Seahawks do? Do you see John Schneider using
- 49:46Speaker 2: this cap and cash space that he has to acquire
- 49:50Speaker 2: a running back? And if so, whom? Could you see
- 49:53Speaker 2: a Saquon Barkley with two-plus years remaining on his contract
- 49:57Speaker 2: in Philadelphia? Could you see a Jonathan Taylor with two-plus
- 50:00Speaker 2: years left on his deal in Indianapolis?
- 50:04Speaker 12: That's the challenge, right?
- 50:05Speaker 4: Because the Seahawks have some contracts and some young players
- 50:08Speaker 4: that they've got to get extended this offseason. And I
- 50:12Speaker 4: think it'd be much more likely if one of those
- 50:13Speaker 4: players only had a year left on their deal. People
- 50:15Speaker 4: are talking about putting Nelson at guard and potentially bringing
- 50:19Speaker 4: him in and really upgrading that offensive line, which is
- 50:22Speaker 4: going to get Anthony Bradford back this week. And that
- 50:24Speaker 4: might be a more... logical solution. He's not a running back,
- 50:29Speaker 4: but he could improve the run game. He can improve
- 50:30Speaker 4: the pass protection and he's only got one year left
- 50:32Speaker 4: on his deal.
- 50:33Speaker 12: Right? So you don't have to fully commit to him.
- 50:34Speaker 4: You can evaluate him like you did with Rashid Shaheed
- 50:37Speaker 4: and then kind of make some decisions in the off season.
- 50:39Speaker 12: You know, I think there might be some.
- 50:41Speaker 4: More value opposite value possibilities available to them that have
- 50:45Speaker 4: either less dollar or less term associated. I mean, Saquon
- 50:48Speaker 4: Barkley would be, would be such a sexy pick. Jonathan
- 50:51Speaker 4: Taylor would be such a sexy addition as well. But
- 50:54Speaker 4: 20 plus million on those guys' deals, it would be
- 50:57Speaker 4: scary to try to navigate that in the coming offseason.
- 51:01Speaker 4: I think the dead cap hit on Taylor is 10 million.
- 51:04Speaker 4: If they decide to move off from him, like if
- 51:06Speaker 4: they were to acquire him and move off of him
- 51:08Speaker 4: in the offseason, what that would cost them and that
- 51:10Speaker 4: would impact them in terms of their ability to make
- 51:12Speaker 4: the moves they want next year. So I think it's complicated, right?
- 51:15Speaker 4: I think in terms of the acquisition costs, they're talking
- 51:17Speaker 4: about a second round pick. For Jonathan Taylor, I think
- 51:21Speaker 4: that's great, right?
- 51:22Speaker 12: Like, I do that. I would do that in a second.
- 51:25Speaker 12: It's just that.
- 51:25Speaker 4: $ 20 million on the two years remaining on the deal
- 51:30Speaker 4: that would make me nervous, right? Because you weren't willing
- 51:32Speaker 4: to give it to Kenneth Walker. Now you're going to
- 51:33Speaker 4: give it to an older player.
- 51:34Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Like, I get the thought process coming into the year, right?
- 51:40Speaker 4: That we're going to be able to backfield by committee
- 51:43Speaker 4: this with Judarian Price. I don't think they ever factored
- 51:45Speaker 4: the turnover possibilities into it. but I think they figured
- 51:48Speaker 4: they could get away with a, you know, 15 carries
- 51:51Speaker 4: a game, 12 to 15 carries a game from price and,
- 51:54Speaker 4: you know, two to three to four carries for Halani
- 51:57Speaker 4: and Wilson. And you could navigate your way until Zach
- 52:00Speaker 4: Charbonnet came back and then you could have a two
- 52:02Speaker 4: headed monster.
- 52:03Speaker 12: Should they be patient.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Because they could be a couple of weeks away from
- 52:06Speaker 4: doing that, right? We know Charbonnet got taken off the
- 52:08Speaker 4: publicist today. We know he's going to play. We'll see
- 52:11Speaker 4: how much he's going to play and potentially as early
- 52:14Speaker 4: as next week, they could get pricebacks.
- 52:16Speaker 12: Or should they just be patient? We'll see, right?
- 52:19Speaker 4: I mean, this week will tell us a lot. It'll
- 52:21Speaker 4: tell us a lot about their panic level. It'll tell
- 52:23Speaker 4: us a lot about Charbonnet. And we'll know more about
- 52:26Speaker 4: price as well.
- 52:27Speaker 2: You mentioned, Jonathan Taylor, the $ 10 million in dead money
- 52:30Speaker 2: if the Seahawks would have to acquire him and then
- 52:33Speaker 2: let him go after this season. Well, that dead money
- 52:35Speaker 2: for next year for Saquon Barkley in his age 30
- 52:38Speaker 2: season is $ 28. 9 million. I know.
- 52:43Speaker 12: I don't know how to live with that.
- 52:44Speaker 2: You're going to have to keep him. If you trade
- 52:46Speaker 2: for him right, you're going to end up keeping him
- 52:48Speaker 2: because that's double the price the Chiefs are paying per
- 52:50Speaker 2: year for Kenneth Walker, which was the price the Seahawks
- 52:53Speaker 2: didn't even want to come near touching. That would be
- 52:56Speaker 2: such a departure for what John Snyder has given to
- 52:58Speaker 2: the running back position. Around the NFL, Jalen Hurts. I mean,
- 53:04Speaker 2: you're a father of a son who plays big-time football.
- 53:08Speaker 2: If your son had blood clots, whether they're superficial, whether
- 53:11Speaker 2: they're in the calves, and he played a football game,
- 53:15Speaker 2: And then you had that team fly your son across
- 53:17Speaker 2: the pond, a seven-and-a-half-hour flight across the Atlantic Ocean. You'd
- 53:22Speaker 2: have some questions. Why is it that the NFL, the Eagles,
- 53:27Speaker 2: and even Nicole Lynn, Jalen Hurts' agent, all coming out
- 53:31Speaker 2: and saying this is handled the right way?
- 53:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's bizarre to me, and you have to believe
- 53:37Speaker 4: that Jalen Hurts was kind of given the options and
- 53:39Speaker 4: kind of signed off on what was there in front
- 53:41Speaker 4: of him. And, you know, they've got qualified medical people there. Obviously,
- 53:44Speaker 4: they should not have trotted Nick Suriani out there to
- 53:46Speaker 4: try to get him to answer the questions.
- 53:47Speaker 12: Because definitely a lot of that is above his pay grade.
- 53:51Speaker 4: But, yeah, look, I know that certainly here in Vancouver,
- 53:56Speaker 4: two years ago when the Canucks were in the playoffs,
- 53:59Speaker 4: one of their top players at the time, Brock Besser,
- 54:01Speaker 4: dealt with blood clots like between game six and seven.
- 54:06Speaker 4: And he didn't play game seven, right? Like as soon
- 54:08Speaker 4: as they found them, they began the blood thinners and
- 54:10Speaker 4: they pulled them off. Now, I can't tell you whether
- 54:13Speaker 4: that was a superficial blood clot versus what Jalen Hurts has.
- 54:16Speaker 4: But now that, you know, you've got the deep vein
- 54:18Speaker 4: thrombosis now as the blood clots have moved. And now
- 54:21Speaker 4: he's got two blood clots in his lungs. Like that's
- 54:23Speaker 4: some scary, scary stuff. And you have to wonder if
- 54:27Speaker 4: any of that could have been prevented if he was
- 54:29Speaker 4: handled differently when he was first diagnosed because, you know,
- 54:33Speaker 4: we believe it happened on October the 4th, right?
- 54:35Speaker 12: When he got kicked in the calf a little bit and.
- 54:37Speaker 4: Then he didn't talk to the trainers about it and
- 54:39Speaker 4: then inform them until October 8th.
- 54:41Speaker 12: And then, you know, like you said, he played the game,
- 54:43Speaker 12: got on a flight, all of that. But the PA
- 54:45Speaker 12: is not letting this go, nor should they, right? Because
- 54:48Speaker 12: I think they want to make.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Sure that there should be some level of precedent in
- 54:53Speaker 4: this case. And look, we're always going to get something.
- 54:55Speaker 2: New, right?
- 54:56Speaker 4: There's always going to be a different scenario that maybe
- 54:58Speaker 4: hadn't happened previously or hadn't been fully disclosed previously that we.
- 55:02Speaker 12: Get exposed to. Medical science, much like any science, is
- 55:06Speaker 12: not always black and white. It's moving. It's evolving.
- 55:10Speaker 4: And if this is part of the evolution of this
- 55:12Speaker 4: type of injury so that it gets dealt with differently
- 55:14Speaker 4: down the road, great. Like, I applaud the PA for
- 55:16Speaker 4: getting involved here and demanding either an investigation or an explanation,
- 55:21Speaker 4: like one or the other, right? Like, why aren't you
- 55:23Speaker 4: investigating if you haven't? Why do you believe that this
- 55:26Speaker 4: was properly handled? Because, yeah, on the surface, I look
- 55:28Speaker 4: at it and I say blood clots and blood thinners.
- 55:30Speaker 4: You know, you can't get hit in that moment. And
- 55:33Speaker 4: this is going to take three months now. So his
- 55:35Speaker 4: season's done. You know, and you wonder if it could
- 55:38Speaker 4: have been handled differently if the outcome right now would
- 55:40Speaker 4: have been different.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Yeah, for them just to say, yeah, we checked it out.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Everything was cool.
- 55:47Speaker 8: Yeah, look, in the.
- 55:48Speaker 12: NFL, over the course of time... has been probably the most.
- 55:52Speaker 4: Accountable of leagues, right? Or at least the most transparent
- 55:56Speaker 4: of leagues, not accountable.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Except for CTE and concussion settlements. They had a $ 700
- 56:01Speaker 2: million concussion settlement to try to get CTE to go away,
- 56:03Speaker 2: but there was that.
- 56:05Speaker 12: Sure, yeah. But they didn't run from the science.
- 56:09Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 56:10Speaker 4: You look at how the National Hockey League handles CTE,
- 56:12Speaker 4: and they simply won't admit it. They're not going to
- 56:14Speaker 4: sign off on that because it requires a level of admission,
- 56:17Speaker 4: which they're simply not willing to do. So I'm not
- 56:19Speaker 4: sitting here and saying the NFL is altruistic, but compared
- 56:22Speaker 4: to the other four major professional sports leagues, they probably
- 56:25Speaker 4: have a little more transparency simply because they have the
- 56:29Speaker 4: money to be transparent.
- 56:31Speaker 12: We can make the payout. We can do that.
- 56:33Speaker 4: So it's not like the NFL to run from this situation.
- 56:37Speaker 4: I think they can step into it because... All things
- 56:41Speaker 4: are forgiven when it comes to the National Football League, Greg.
- 56:44Speaker 4: There is nothing they can do that the public will
- 56:47Speaker 4: turn on them for. It just isn't going to happen.
- 56:49Speaker 4: So they can afford to be transparent.
- 56:53Speaker 2: You're sadly correct about that. Nothing will keep people from watching, betting,
- 56:58Speaker 2: fantasy footballing, the NFL. You're absolutely right about that. Hey, Farhan,
- 57:02Speaker 2: is the NFC West already over? Three-and-a-half game lead for
- 57:05Speaker 2: the 49ers over the Seahawks. Four-and-a-half over the Rams because
- 57:09Speaker 2: they have wins over each of those teams. Are the
- 57:11Speaker 2: Seahawks and Rams just playing for a wild card at
- 57:13Speaker 2: this point, which might not be a bad deal with
- 57:15Speaker 2: the way the NFC East and South are, but what's
- 57:19Speaker 2: left now for the Seahawks and Rams realistically playing for here?
- 57:23Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I think that's fair, and I think even
- 57:26Speaker 4: though they're only a game apart, I think the Rams
- 57:28Speaker 4: are in a much bigger world of hurt than the
- 57:31Speaker 4: Seahawks because their problems are so multilayered, whereas the Seahawks'
- 57:35Speaker 4: problems are one thing, right?
- 57:37Speaker 12: Offensive turnovers. They're like, that's the issue.
- 57:39Speaker 4: When you look at the Rams, their special teams are
- 57:43Speaker 4: a disaster. You look at them in terms of their health,
- 57:46Speaker 4: and you and I talked about this when I was
- 57:47Speaker 4: down in both Rams and Niners camp.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Yep.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Injury and managing injury is going to be the storylines
- 57:52Speaker 4: for both these teams. And I felt the 49ers weren't
- 57:55Speaker 4: going to do it right. I mean, I know you've
- 57:57Speaker 4: kept the receipt about me saying it was going to
- 57:58Speaker 4: be a two-horse race in the division. You know, and
- 58:02Speaker 4: I picked the wrong horse because it might be a
- 58:04Speaker 4: two-horse race and the Rangers are the ones that are
- 58:06Speaker 4: going to be.
- 58:06Speaker 5: Out of it.
- 58:07Speaker 4: But the injuries, the age and injury is certainly a
- 58:11Speaker 4: huge factor.
- 58:12Speaker 3: I think we lost Farron for a second.
- 58:15Speaker 2: It wouldn't be a segment without losing Farron. Two meetings
- 58:17Speaker 2: and then the one in the season finale in Inglewood.
- 58:19Speaker 2: And then the Seahawks play the 49ers for the second
- 58:23Speaker 2: time next month. The Seahawks' task is to get within
- 58:27Speaker 2: two games of the 49ers before that game to try
- 58:30Speaker 2: to make that game within one. Right now they're three
- 58:34Speaker 2: back in the standing. So they would need the Seahawks
- 58:38Speaker 2: to win as the 49ers drop a game or two.
- 58:41Speaker 2: The 49ers play Atlanta this weekend. Their schedule, we talked
- 58:46Speaker 2: about it. They've got the Raiders on the schedule coming up.
- 58:49Speaker 2: The Giants, I think, are on the 49ers schedule before
- 58:51Speaker 2: the Seahawks play them again. There's a strong chance the
- 58:54Speaker 2: 49ers are going to be undefeated by Thanksgiving weekend when
- 58:59Speaker 2: the Seahawks head down there November 29th in Santa Clara.
- 59:02Speaker 2: I think we have Farhan back.
- 59:04Speaker 12: We do. Well, yeah. And Greg, first of all, this
- 59:08Speaker 12: is crazy.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Cause like I'm literally in my home studio where I
- 59:11Speaker 4: have done interviews in London, England and Australia.
- 59:14Speaker 12: And from here to Seattle, I'm cutting out. Like I've
- 59:17Speaker 12: had a home studio.
- 59:18Speaker 4: We're not gonna have a problem, but, but you know,
- 59:20Speaker 4: you mentioned the Niners schedule and the buy coming.
- 59:24Speaker 12: Up for them is perfect, right? Like it's just perfect.
- 59:27Speaker 4: Because they can let Mike Evans sit out this game
- 59:30Speaker 4: if that's the way it winds up going, because they
- 59:31Speaker 4: know they've got to buy, so they're going to gain
- 59:33Speaker 4: the extra week. There was talk of Nick Bosa coming
- 59:36Speaker 4: back this week. Now they can just wait, get to
- 59:39Speaker 4: the buy. They've got some cushion in the standings, and
- 59:41Speaker 4: then they're going to potentially be.
- 59:42Speaker 12: That much more healthier.
- 59:44Speaker 4: When you've got your top five players in terms of
- 59:49Speaker 4: offensive output over the age of 30, Like you need
- 59:54Speaker 4: the schedule. You need load management in football more than,
- 59:57Speaker 4: you know, you've ever seen before in this sport. And
- 59:59Speaker 4: they might be in a position to do it because
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: they've now got a bit of a lead, right? Like
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: I really feel that injuries are going to affect some
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: of these guys. Like I think Mike Evans is going
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: to be dealing with this Achilles for a while, but
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: they'll get DeMarcus Robinson back. They'll get Christian Kirk back.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: Like they'll get a few players here and there that can,
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: you know, they can, they can stick a hole in
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: the dike and tread water a little bit. to the
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: point where I just don't think Seattle can catch them.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: I don't think they're going to maintain this pace, but
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: I don't know that Seattle can catch them because they're
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: going to have to go on some kind of heater,
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: you know, in order to do that.
- 1:00:30Speaker 12: And I guess they did it last year.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: So I think San Francisco is going to win the division,
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: but I do think Seattle could set themselves up for
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: a pretty good first round playoff game or a matchup
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: and eventually a path forward.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: 49ers play at Atlanta this week. Then Farhan mentioned the bye.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: Then the 49ers get the Raiders at home at Dallas.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Minnesota in Mexico City before they play the Seahawks on
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: November 29th down in Santa Clara. About Minnesota, Vikings, are
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: they for real? They're averaging around or below 20 points
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: a game on offense. They're 5-0. They've had their bye already.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: The NFC North is what the Seahawks probably are going
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: to be competing with for wild cards. Detroit, Chicago, Green
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Bay looks like they may be starting to right themselves.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Do you think the Vikings are for real? And what
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: do you think about the Packers emerging or maybe the
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Lions emerging? Caleb Johnson's health with the bears. We're going
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: to see them tonight with the Patriots. But what do
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: you think about the North?
- 1:01:27Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:01:27Speaker 12: Like I love it.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: I mean, coming into the year, I think we were
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: so fixated on what the NFC West was going to
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: look like is the toughest division in football.
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: It might be changing in a hurry.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:01:36Speaker 12: I mean, when you look at.
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: What's happening, when you look at what's happening in that
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: division and as teams get healthier, you know, like it's,
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: it's impressive what they're doing right now.
- 1:01:47Speaker 12: And I, you know, the bears who we're going.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: To see in Seattle next Monday night are only getting
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: better with Caleb Williams back in the lineup. I wasn't
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: sure that this was sustainable for Minnesota. And when you
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: look at just that marriage right now between Kyler Murray
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: and Kevin O'Connell, like they are really, really making pretty
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: good music together. And that defense we knew coming.
- 1:02:08Speaker 12: Into the year was going to be very good.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: I wasn't sure what the system fit was going to
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: be like. Obviously, if you're O'Connell and you made a
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: work with Donald, you can make it work with Murray
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: and it's, their way, it's going to be a lot
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: better than trying to make it work with.
- 1:02:18Speaker 12: What he had to make work a year ago.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: And, and going back and forth and shuttling between JJ
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: McCarthy and Wentz and what they were doing to quarterback.
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: So I think coach is comfortable. Quarterback is comfortable and
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: the defense is playing at a really, really high level.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: And those other three teams stumbled enough early. you know,
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: it's a two game pushing only for the Vikings. But
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: I think when you look at how their schedule sets
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: up over the next month, they could still maintain a
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: level of distance while these other teams are playing catch up.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Fine. Where are you going to be this weekend? I
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: think you're with me in Seattle for Kansas city, Seattle, right?
- 1:02:54Speaker 12: Can I wait? Yeah, no, it's going to be a
- 1:02:56Speaker 12: good one. I don't have to travel.
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: I can, I can be close for that one before
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: I get back out on the road the following week.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: You got your daughter's volleyball or whatever she's got going on.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Home games galore.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: I'll be in, you know, she's actually got a, she's
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: actually got a little bit of a back issue. So
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: we were holding her out for the final two weeks
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: of the volleyball season. And there you see, he's like,
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: I wouldn't be dealing with blood plots.
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: And, and then, and then I'll, I'll head to Virginia
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: next week to go watch my son play. So, so
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: that'll be a lot of fun.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Way to go.
- 1:03:29Speaker 12: Good times, buddy.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I'll see you Sunday night in the stadium. Thanks, man.
- 1:03:34Speaker 12: We'll see you Sunday.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: It's an evening game, so we don't have omelets. What
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: have we got for Denver meal? Can we talk about
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: the Denver meal?
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Denver meal was so good that the Denver Broncos PR
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: staff sent the menu to the beat writers before the game.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: It was a smorgasbord.
- 1:03:50Speaker 12: I was going to post it.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: I was going to post it just to show the
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: first world problem. It was beef and chicken and ice cream.
- 1:03:56Speaker 12: They had everything.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: They did. That was a pretty good spread, I have
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: to admit. I'm sure listeners love to hear what the
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: writers eat in the press box.
- 1:04:04Speaker 12: First world problems to all the listeners.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Thanks, man. I'll see you Sunday night.
- 1:04:10Speaker 12: All right. Take care.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Farhan Lazi from TSN Canada Homes Games for him this weekend.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: He's not traveling. He's coming down to the Sunday night game,
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: the big game between the Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: the unbeaten Chiefs, and the Kenneth Walkers are coming in.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: 3-3 Seahawks. Pivotal game here. They can go to 3-4.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: We'll follow even further behind the Seahawks 49ers you would
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: presume with the Niners playing in Atlanta, 2-4 Atlanta this weekend.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: Or they can go to 4-3 with Chicago coming into
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Seattle the week after on a Monday night. Pivotal game
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: here for the Seahawks against the unbeaten Chiefs. Lots on
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: the text line about that, 49451, the Tacoma Dodge text line.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: And next, Jessamyn has your latest chance at $ 1, 000 because
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: she's got her Factor Fiction pick lined up for the NFL.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: You'll hear that at 1135. Ian will join us talking
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: what he's got going on on his show, 12-3. All
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: that's coming up. On 93.3 KJRFM.
- 1:05:16Speaker 15: Has anyone asked Coach McDonald why Jadarian Price was initially
- 1:05:21Speaker 15: said to be out for a week with the chest injury,
- 1:05:24Speaker 15: and then he comes out of that week's practice or
- 1:05:27Speaker 15: during that week's practice and goes on the IR?
- 1:05:29Speaker 12: Why was he even out there on the practice field?
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Yeah, they have the general manager. John Schneider has talked
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: about that on his pregame show before the 49ers game.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: He said that when Price came, it might have been
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: before the Chargers game, now I think about it, He
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: said that Price was back to practice and working back
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: from the injury. He first got week two in Arizona
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: when LJ Collier fell on him and hurt his ribs.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: It was first listed as a chest injury. Then McDonald
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: said it was a shoulder. Well, it was high ribs,
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: upper ribs. And he was working back from that, Price was.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: He was wearing a red no-contact jersey in the practices
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: before the game against the Chargers. And then the week
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: after that is when he was in practice on Wednesday
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: and fell on the same side that was injured. Now,
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: I don't know if it was contact, he slipped, we
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: don't get to watch practice, but he fell on the side,
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Snyder said, that he had already injured, and that fall
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: caused the injury that led him to injured reserve. So
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: he was practicing because he was on his way back.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: In fact, he played hurt in Washington in Week 3
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: when he got binged, and McDonald was saying that Price
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: was heroic in playing that game. He wore the red
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: no-contact jersey before that Washington game. It was after the
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Washington game in practice. Working back from the injury, he
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: fell on him again and re-injured himself. So that is
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: the clarification on that. He is eligible, Price is, to
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: return November 2nd, the game after the just weekend Chiefs
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: game for the Seahawks against the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: As of this week, as in yesterday, Mike McDonald had
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: nothing new on Price on whether he would come back
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: when he's first eligible to November 2nd against Chicago. It's time.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: To win $ 1, 000. Yeah, let's go. We're set to go.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Glad you're with us.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: It's your shot at our weekly $ 1, 000. And the $ 10, 000
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: grand prize.
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: It's Fact or Fiction.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Proudly presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel.
- 1:07:23Speaker 12: Where every day feels lucky.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Fact or Fiction is on. Sports Radio 93.3. KJR FM.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: By the way, people are catching on. They're now texting
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: FACT to 49451 before we even give the pick.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: Before the window's open, yeah.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: So that doesn't count. It actually shows up on the
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: text list as just FACT, but they're getting the hint
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: that all you have to do is text FACT and
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: you're going to have a chance to win $ 1, 000.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Why don't we reset those windows, Greg?
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Sure.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: 735?
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: 1135?
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: 235 with Ian, 335 with Dave Softy Mahler and Dick Fane.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Every day, every weekday, 20 chances, usually 20 chances. to
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: win each week. Whoever wins the most will win $ 10, 000.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: Whoever wins most of the picks, that is, you don't
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: have to win $ 1, 000 a week. You just accumulate correct
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: picks with us over the course of the contest that
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: ends December 11th, Army-Navy Friday. And you will win $ 10, 000
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. It's Jessamyn's pick
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: today in the NFL. Oh, boy.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: I'm going hometown. Not this hometown.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: I knew it.
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: Yep. I mean, just to be honest, by the time
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: we hit Thursday and Friday, a lot of picks have
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: already been taken. We do have to make sure we
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: don't double up on any of these, but I'm going
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: Jets minus four and a half as they host the Dolphins.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: And I will just say, even though the Dolphins might
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: be quote unquote due at 0-5, they're due for a win. No,
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: I definitely think that they're coming up from their sunny
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: place and going into the depths of the Meadowlands. And
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: it is a very, very feisty crowd, especially when it
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: comes to division. This is an AFC East matchup. So
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: I think the Jets are going to beat them by
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: more than four and a half points.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: It's supposed to be 67 and sunny in the Meadowlands
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: on Sunday, by the way.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's frigid for those guys down in Miami.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: So, no, it's going to be optimal weather when it
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: comes to a football game. But I just like the
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: Jets in this one. And they're, you know, they only
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: have two wins on this season. I think that the
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: team is going to, the fans are going to show
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: up and show out.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: It gets loud there as well. Maybe not looming loud.
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: But it is not going to be a friendly environment
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: for Miami, who is flailing right now. So Jets minus
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: four and a half as they are the home team
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: to the Dolphins.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: If you agree with Jessamyn, text FACT to 49451. In
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: other words, if you want to win $ 1, 000, text FACT
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: to 49451. If you disagree, text FICTION to 49451. You
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: have about 11 more minutes to do that. How bad
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: are the Dolphins to be four and a half point underdogs.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: To the Jets?
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Hey. Sorry. I'm just stating facts.
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: Well, I always have that there do thing in the
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: back of my head when it comes to teams who
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: are winless at this point of the season, but it's
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: not going to be this weekend. And also, if you
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: disagree and you want to hate on my Jets, that
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: is completely fine because a fiction winner for $ 1, 000 actually
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: happened on this show and it was my pick. So
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: go ahead, hate on them.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Although the Dolphins have only... I would caution against fiction
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: here because the Dolphins have only scored 70 points.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: No, they're really bad.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: 70 points.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: They're really bad.
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: And the Jets' losses have been close games, too, to
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: decent teams. If you look at their schedule, they are
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: not horrid. They are just playing better teams, and they're
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: just not that good.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: But they're not Dolphins bad.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: They're not Dolphins bad.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to be a thing that we're going
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: to say. Are they Dolphins bad?
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: There are only three teams in the NFL that have
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: fewer than 100 points scored through five, six weeks of
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: the season. The Dolphins, the Titans, 1-5, and the 0-6 Chargers.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: That's it. Nobody else in the NFL, 32 teams, have
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: scored as few points. The Dolphins with just 70 in
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: five games. If you agree with Jessamyn, Jets minus 4.5
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: at home over the Dolphins, meaning they'll win by five
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: or more points. If you agree, text FACT to 49451.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: If you disagree, text FICTION to 49451. You've got about
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: nine more minutes to do that.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: And if anyone comes at me with them coming off
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: a bye week, consider the 0-5 Dolphins.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: What could they possibly fix in that time? Like, I
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: get it.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: I get it.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: They are coming off a bye week, but no.
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: I just like someone else occupying the basement for us
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: in the AFC East for once.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: From the Tacoma Dodge text line 49451, the 206 agrees
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: with Jessamine. K-9 was used correctly last year. His career
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: issue is inconsistency. 21 yards one game, 80 the next.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: He only had six 100-yard rushing games going into the
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: playoffs last year. 206 says, thank you for finally articulating
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: that so clearly. Splitting time led to fresh legs in
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: the playoffs and a Lombardi trophy. That is the goal.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: I understand that led to Walker's departure, but they did
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: the right thing from a team perspective.
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: And they did it by, isn't every NFL, I get
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: that he was in a contract year, but isn't every
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: NFL player's dream to even sniff a Lombardi?
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Right. Also, he says, or she says, 206, Let's revisit
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: this in week 15. Hard to know if this is
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: sustainable for him. Yes, we made that point with Farron, too. Yep.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: 206 goes to the Wayback Machine. While the canine mistake
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: isn't looking as bad as Steve Hutchinson yet, it may
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: become the second worst move of not re-signing a player
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: in Hawks history. I covered that for the Associated Press.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: The Steve Hutchinson poison pill when Tom Condon, his agent,
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: basically engineered his way to Minnesota by causing the contract. Man.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: The Seahawks messed that up. That was a Tim Ruskell special.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: Marcus 206, friend of the station, said it was a
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: bad job the way the Seahawks handled Walker last year
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: because we knew he wouldn't even want to resign here
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: after that. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: Yeah, sure. But they still didn't just run him out
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: and like, let's. get the most we possibly can. They
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: only did that out of necessity. It's not like they
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: ruined him in a contract year. They actually protected him.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: And then they only pushed him into the service we
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: saw for the last one and a half games because
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: of Zach Charbonnet's injury.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: Marcus206 also says, Charbonnet isn't that good. We're going to
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: find out. He's going to be the guy once he
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: works back in. He's activated today. taken off the physically
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: unable to perform list onto the 53-man active roster. The
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Seahawks put tight end Elijah Arroyo, the second-year tight end,
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: who really has not emerged like they had hoped for.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Shoulder injury, he's going on to injured reserve to clear
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: the roster space for Zach Charbonnet. It's a crackin' hockey day,
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: a home match tonight against the Utah Mammoth, who've been
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: rolling lately. 7 o'clock at Climate Pledge Arena. Ian Furness
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: will be there. Mike Benton will be there. It'll be
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: on your air at 6.30 pregame, 7 o'clock puck drop.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: We'll talk to Ian next on what he's got going
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: on on his show today on 93.3 KJRFM. Welcome back.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: Greg Bell and Jessup McIntyre with you on 92.3 KJFM.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: You have a minute or two still to get in
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: your fact or fiction pick. Jessup went with the Jets
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: minus four and a half at home over the winless Dolphins.
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: If you think the Jets will win that game by
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: more than five or more points, text fact to 49451.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: If you disagree, text fiction to 49451 for your chance
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: In about a minute or so's time, your next chance
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: will be to win. It's at 2.35 p.m. when Ian
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Furness will have his pick, or maybe it's Ashley's turn today,
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: or Brian, to have their pick at 2.35 for Factor Fiction.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Ian Furness joins us now to tell us what he's
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: got on his show today. Hello, sir. Hello. Yes, it
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: is Ashley's pick today. Does Ashley stick to NFL? No,
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: she wanders. She'll wander. Yeah, she'll wander.
- 1:15:33Speaker 8: I haven't done a deep dive yet into her picks,
- 1:15:36Speaker 8: but they're better than mine.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: I know that.
- 1:15:40Speaker 8: Of course, everyone's except for Fane's are better than mine,
- 1:15:42Speaker 8: so that's not a high bar.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: You always have Dick Fane to fall back to.
- 1:15:46Speaker 8: Thank God. I'm already 0-1 this week. I chased earlier
- 1:15:50Speaker 8: this week. I was in good shape until the Niners
- 1:15:52Speaker 8: decided not to play the fourth quarter.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Yes. Fun. Yes, they did. Yeah, yeah. They've got the
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: Kraken hockey tonight. Utah's a pretty hot team coming in. Yeah,
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: they're good. I mentioned a couple times on the show
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: that their six wins in their first ten games is
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: the most the Kraken have had in their team's history
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: for ten games. What stands out to you the most
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: of why they're winning?
- 1:16:17Speaker 8: Better special teams. At least power play better. Goaltending's been elite.
- 1:16:24Speaker 8: depth scoring, like everyone, they've got 12 or 13 guys
- 1:16:28Speaker 8: now have multiple goals this season. I think 16, I
- 1:16:32Speaker 8: think the only skaters that don't have a goal that
- 1:16:35Speaker 8: have played a regular amount of time are Larson and Mahura,
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, so I mean, they're getting balanced,
- 1:16:43Speaker 8: they're getting good goaltending, you know, and they're finding ways.
- 1:16:46Speaker 8: I This is a team that has not been that
- 1:16:49Speaker 8: resilient over the last couple of years. They're a lot
- 1:16:50Speaker 8: more resilient now. Bad things happen. They're able to come
- 1:16:52Speaker 8: back and bounce back. Tonight's a tough test. They've never
- 1:16:57Speaker 8: had success against Utah since they moved from Arizona. Saturday's
- 1:17:01Speaker 8: really hard because Minnesota's elite. Kaprizov has 11 goals already
- 1:17:07Speaker 8: this season. He's rolling in here on Saturday. So, yeah,
- 1:17:10Speaker 8: two tough ones coming up, and then Toronto next Wednesday,
- 1:17:12Speaker 8: and away we go. Then they get Calgary again, so
- 1:17:14Speaker 8: that's good.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: A bye game. Yeah, exactly. Am I crazy to think
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: that Philip Grubauer should maybe be the number one goaltender?
- 1:17:24Speaker 8: No. He probably is, in a sense. I just don't
- 1:17:28Speaker 8: think they rotate. I mean, Phil got two straight starts
- 1:17:32Speaker 8: on the trip. So I think you can kind of
- 1:17:35Speaker 8: read into that what you like. I think Joey's going
- 1:17:37Speaker 8: tonight and Gruby will go on Saturday, but then we'll
- 1:17:40Speaker 8: see what happens. You'll probably be able to answer that
- 1:17:42Speaker 8: question depending on how they do the next two games
- 1:17:45Speaker 8: by next Wednesday's game, because there'll be plenty of time
- 1:17:47Speaker 8: off in between. Kind of like the Bears have, plenty
- 1:17:49Speaker 8: of time off in between games. I just noticed that, Greg,
- 1:17:52Speaker 8: that the Bears play tonight, right?
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and not again until Monday night. Wow.
- 1:17:56Speaker 8: That's nice for them, huh?
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: It's a rest advantage Chicago in that game.
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: What was your favorite Elijah Royal moment from this season?
- 1:18:03Speaker 8: Which of the one catches was it?
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: Oh, man. He is a second-round pick. He is not.
- 1:18:09Speaker 8: That's... You know, we can talk Ken Walker all we want.
- 1:18:14Speaker 8: This year's draft class has produced nothing. Last year, better, but,
- 1:18:19Speaker 8: I mean, Arroyo, like you just said, a high draft pick.
- 1:18:21Speaker 12: He's got.
- 1:18:22Speaker 8: He had one catch this season.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: He had 15 catches last season.
- 1:18:26Speaker 8: And last year, give me... I don't know if I
- 1:18:28Speaker 8: give him more of a benefit of the doubt, but
- 1:18:30Speaker 8: last year, at least, he had... He's banged up a
- 1:18:33Speaker 8: little bit last year, right? He was really never healthy,
- 1:18:35Speaker 8: he said. But I thought he'd be a factor this year.
- 1:18:38Speaker 8: I thought he'd be a big factor for them. But
- 1:18:41Speaker 8: that's not the case.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: I did, too. A tight end coach is now the
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: offensive coordinator. I saw tight ends flying down the field
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: in deep routes in the middle and all through. training camp,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: and they have yet to unleash him or A.J. Barner,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: for that matter. Barner's due for a huge game one
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: of these times. They have a running game to throw
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: off of, finally. We'll see. The news of the day,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Charbonnet activated from the pup list. He's now on the 53,
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: clearing the way for him for his season debut. Sunday night,
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: Elijah Royal onto the injured reserve list. What do you
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: got today?
- 1:19:11Speaker 8: Just real quick, how many carries do you think Sharpe's
- 1:19:13Speaker 8: going to get?
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Six, eight.
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: Yeah, that's right. Corbin said seven to eight. I think
- 1:19:20Speaker 8: everyone's kind of thinking that six to ten range at
- 1:19:21Speaker 8: the max, right?
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Right, right. I think it would be malpractice to give
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: him 20 carries, although they need to. I can't do that.
- 1:19:30Speaker 8: I believe he's only had 20 carries once in his career.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:34Speaker 8: I wouldn't see that anyway. All right. Yeah, we've got
- 1:19:37Speaker 8: Ross Tucker joining us coming up at 1220 today, his
- 1:19:39Speaker 8: weekly visit. We're going to flip things around a little
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: bit today. Brandon Funston, he's jumping on a plane later
- 1:19:45Speaker 8: this afternoon, so we're going to move him up to
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: 1 p.m. So the unofficial start of the weekend is
- 1:19:50Speaker 8: an hour earlier. 1 p.m. for Funston. Your text, 49451,
- 1:19:55Speaker 8: starting at noon. So get those in.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Not earlier.
- 1:19:58Speaker 8: Not a second earlier. Not a second earlier.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: Don't infringe on our hour.
- 1:20:03Speaker 8: Do not. 49451, your Brandon Funston questions again.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: 1 p.m.
- 1:20:08Speaker 8: Today for Funston and 2 o'clock, Steve Palozzolo, 3013. Check
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: the Mike podcast. We'll break down Seahawks and Chiefs and
- 1:20:15Speaker 8: kind of find out what's going on in the NFC
- 1:20:17Speaker 8: as a whole with the playoff race. All that coming
- 1:20:19Speaker 8: up today.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: Is John Forslund back where you're going to be hosting?
- 1:20:22Speaker 8: No, it's national TV today.
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: Oh, that's right.
- 1:20:25Speaker 8: John is back. Next Friday in Calgary. So I've got
- 1:20:29Speaker 8: the next two Saturday and Wednesday next week.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go. TV play-by-play, man. Ian Furness from
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: the Kraken. Kraken home tonight against Utah. Ian's up next.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: I'll do it again tomorrow with Jessamyn. I think I'll
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: be face-to-face with her tomorrow if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Well, let's go.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Ian's up next. And tomorrow's a high school football focus Friday.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Remember that. Ian's up next on 93.3 KJRFM.
