- 0:00Now boys, Uh, the network has a problem with some of your lyrics.
- 0:03Would you mind changing them for the show? Forgets you clown? Hey,
- 0:07our lyrics are like our children. Man, No way, Well okay,
- 0:11but here what you say? What I got, you gotta get and
- 0:13put it in you. How about just what i'd like is I'd like to
- 0:17hug and kiss you. Wow, that's much better. Everyone can enjoy that
- 0:22four finger discount. Dude. Welcome to four figure Discant where this week we're
- 0:42here to do a very special review of Gone, all the way back to
- 0:45the finale of season four. It is an episode that my co host here
- 0:49is frequently bringing up one particular line, actually several particular lines. There's many
- 0:53famous moments in this episode. It's an iconic one. It is Crusty gets
- 0:57canceled. I'm Dando and irom guy. And yes, we are going to
- 1:00finally answer the question why is a raven like a writing desk? And he's
- 1:03moving his hands together, which means he must be happy? Yeah or on
- 1:07cold? No, actually today I'm happy, not as cold today. Dan
- 1:10Thau has set the thermost out at a very agreeable temperature. We've both got
- 1:14o hoodies on. We're very very happy to you be talking about Krusty gets
- 1:17canceled. By the way, why is a raven like a writing desk?
- 1:19Quite to Lewis Carroll, the writer of Alice in Wonderland, where it originally
- 1:26came from, because it can produce a few notes, although they are often
- 1:29very flat. Lewis Carroll not his best work. Not a tight five from
- 1:33Lewis tight five from John Swatswater. Though with writing of this episode, Holy
- 1:38moly, yes, yes, this is one of his absolute classics. This
- 1:41was one of those. This was sort of like the season four equivalent of
- 1:42Homer at the Bat. So at the Bat worked so well ratings wise that
- 1:46I would have sort of smash out a whole range of guest stars in one
- 1:49episode in that one though, though, or a lot of baseball, a
- 1:52lot of showbiz luminaries. Yeah, this one's like, Okay, we've got
- 1:56a bunch of famous people we were trying to get into one episode, so
- 1:59we'd have to sort of fill every episode with a guest star. And I
- 2:00thought they the idea of Trusty being canceled was such a simple premise, but
- 2:04an effective one to get that done. To get all the guest stars on
- 2:07a good reason for them to all be on anyway. Oh yeah, absolutely,
- 2:09to do a comeback special and then come back specials. Everybody loves an
- 2:14underdog, even in show business. Like you know, we may think your
- 2:16time has come and it's time for the hot new model to come in,
- 2:20but no, we still like We still like the old gray Man, even
- 2:23if she's not what she used to be. So yeah, bring him back
- 2:24for another go around. I'm not sure if this was the first time we
- 2:27saw the old Jewish Man. I don't think it was one of the earlier
- 2:30appearances. At least anyway, he's the one his fans dropped down. That
- 2:32is correct. Yes, he went on to become a recurring He was sort
- 2:37of liked that. I think when it comes to the retirement home, it's
- 2:38grandbad jasper old Jewish guy, right, I think, oh, yes,
- 2:43it's just a funny accident. But what did you like the most about favorite?
- 2:49But like, what are your thoughts about this episode? Because my memories
- 2:53of it were I never really liked it all that much as a kid,
- 2:55probably because I didn't know who the guest stars were. For the most part,
- 2:59I didn't know who beat Me was. I didn't know who e Lizabeth
- 3:00Taylor was. I didn't know who Johnny Carson was as a kid. You
- 3:02know. It's just there were these people who were obviously somebody in the Simpsons
- 3:07universe, toy, but I thought, who are they? Yeah, I
- 3:09get the feeling the people in the writer's room, swartsweld Are and his Ilk
- 3:13are very much like Middler, Carson, Hefner. Absolutely, you know,
- 3:17a listers and they are and they are certainly not. I think that's a
- 3:22difference between a listers and legends maybe. I mean, I think by this
- 3:25stage Middler's probably still quite well known. Heffner, of course, is always
- 3:30going to be well known. Johnny Carson there's a brand name, but they're
- 3:34not necessarily you know, the kids aren't walking around saying, gotta dress like
- 3:38Johnny Carson, or you know, oh, I've got to be doing the
- 3:42bet Middler challenge on TikTok or something like when did Carson finish nineteen ninety?
- 3:46That sounds about right, because this was apparently one of the last times he
- 3:49appeared on a TV show after the show finished. Something I really dug in
- 3:53doing a little half assed research about this was that they initially wanted Carson to
- 3:59be trusty, almost essentially Cruss to wild be kind of a free loader hanging
- 4:02out of the Simpson household and mooching off them all. They kind of old
- 4:05Gil in kill Gill Volume one or two, and he was like, I'm
- 4:08not doing that. I don't know why. It gave him the krusty voice.
- 4:12Well, no, no, but it's sort of like the opposite of
- 4:16what they did with you know, when Carl Weathers was on Arrested Development and
- 4:19he was just the real cheap skate, it was like, gus, do
- 4:21you going. Initially when they approached Carl Weathers, it was going to be
- 4:27like, oh, we just wanted to do a bunch of Apollo Creed gags,
- 4:30and Carl Weathers, to his credit, was like, Nah, I
- 4:32don't really want to do anything like that. What if I was really cheap?
- 4:35It's like, this is Carl Weathers, this is Apollo Greed, this
- 4:38is Dutch from Predator, and he's just absolutely taken the piece out of himself.
- 4:42Well, he just knows what's sports comedy, you know he does.
- 4:44Indeed, he's Chubbs. Johnny Carson was like, He'll always be Chubbs to
- 4:47ninety kids. That's very very true, very true. But yeah, Johnny
- 4:51Cars was like, no, still got to be Johnny Carson, and they
- 4:55basically rewrote it, so he's like this magnanimous showed his mentor. Honestly,
- 5:00I liked it as well. I mean Carson Carson for a reason. He's
- 5:03just very pleasant to listen to. His voice is kind of like he is,
- 5:06isn't he It's a bit like melted butter. Well, the older I
- 5:09got, the more I appreciated and respected Johnny Carson is purely just freezed tars
- 5:13as an interview and as a host, right and particularly twenty twenty four.
- 5:15You look back in his stuff now and go take me back. No carpal
- 5:20karaoke and no miming songs and gimmicks. It's just it's just good conversation.
- 5:27It's just chatting to people. Yeah, getting getting the bits in fantastic.
- 5:30But you're right in terms of, yeah, you would have had some people
- 5:33at this stage going this is not exactly the cream of the crops showbiz wise.
- 5:39It's people that my parents really dug. So they very cleverly threw in
- 5:43a few newer talents, Bella, Luke Perry, Red Hot Chili Peppers,
- 5:47it's like, oh, we recognize them and they have a mix, didn't
- 5:50you? You did? Indeed? And they really good sports as well.
- 5:53Luke Perry in particular, Yeah, showing up the fact that he's the pretty
- 5:58boy dujure look up to Crusty his half brother. Yeah, but look really
- 6:01wanting to be part of it, showing a bit of respect for these for
- 6:04these showbiz legends at all. But also my face, my valuable face is
- 6:09so great creators. No, what I love the most about that sequence was
- 6:12just the sound of him going through the glasses. Yes, it was really
- 6:15great sound work. Was it was? Yeah, just a prooved for no
- 6:18reason, stacking acid but yeah, a great liner. But I think the
- 6:25reason I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it now. I'm always a sucker
- 6:28for like behind the scenes showbiz stories, come back stories. Yeah, the
- 6:32business of show business as well. Yeah, you're just not on top anymore.
- 6:36People don't interesting to Oh I've got to find a way to come back.
- 6:40It's like Travolta pulp fiction. Very much. Yeah, I mean he
- 6:44was he was not done, wasn't he as a career Chavoulta when that came
- 6:46out, But pretty much, Yeah, Geralta was he wasn't cool anymore.
- 6:49No, no, because I mean he had, of course his seventies Heyday
- 6:54with you know, Greece and Saturday Night Fever, which wasn't that long before
- 6:58pulp fiction. It was like within a ten to fift. Well, the
- 7:00eighties were kind of a wilderness for him because Greece was seventy eight, right,
- 7:04so by night one did pop Fish went ninety two, ninety four was
- 7:08ninety four, so give it up. I guess fifteen years is a long
- 7:11time. But when you think about it, fifteen years ago from now,
- 7:13it was two thousand and nine. Yeah, he didn't feel that long.
- 7:15No, that's true. That's true. For to go from where he was
- 7:16to that. He was working consistantly, and he had a minor comeback in
- 7:20the Lay dadies with Look Whose Talk and that. I love those movies.
- 7:24Yeah, and he's really good and it he's like, oh, yeah,
- 7:26you're really charming and funny and lose shame here in this talking baby movie that's
- 7:30kind of knaff Brice Wills wasn't it though Brucellas was in it. Well,
- 7:33he wasn't in it, but he was. You know, the whole story
- 7:36about that though initially the baby wasn't going to talk at all. Oh really,
- 7:41that's the whole person them. I think we had discussed this. It's
- 7:43we that's the selling point, right, I mean the story is based around
- 7:46what was it called We Couldn't Talk? It was initially called Daddy's Home,
- 7:49that's right. Yeah. The writer director is this woman Amy Heckling. She
- 7:54made Clueless and Fast Times originally high. Apparently she got knocked up by Harold
- 7:58Ramis, who really didn't want anything to do with ghostbusted. That busted made
- 8:03him feel good? Dear did she calls? And she wrote this story about
- 8:16finding herself pregnant and alone at a certain age, and yeah, it was
- 8:20he just did a runner. I think he acknowledged the child later on in
- 8:26life, but initially he was kind of like, this is not really what
- 8:30I'm into. I thought we were just having kind of a fling. It's
- 8:31not do your research on this, folks. I maybe miss my own one.
- 8:37Howard Ramis under the bus. If that's not true yet, who can
- 8:39tell? The Internet will tell you. But this is what I've heard anyway.
- 8:43And yeah, so she wrote this story about it, and I think
- 8:46the studio is like this is good entertaining enough, John t Roller and Cursey
- 8:50own there. They've got good chemistry. But I don't know how the baby
- 8:54actually came into the talking baby came into it, but they put the talking
- 8:58baby in gavi it. Bruce Willis's boy, all of a sudden, schools
- 9:00are through. The rip becomes a huge hit. He has like three sequels,
- 9:03Yeah, at least two of them. I know it was a dog.
- 9:05There was the sequel. Well, there was a sequel with the girl
- 9:07with the daughter, which I think was the Roseanne. It was yeah,
- 9:11look he's talking to and looker's talking now. And maybe they did one with
- 9:13animals as well. I know you're talking now with the dog. Oh okay,
- 9:16yeah, but anyway, yeah, but he had a hit with those.
- 9:20But yeah, it wasn't until Pulp Fiction that Jolter came back and was
- 9:22like, hey, this guy, we really like this guy. You know
- 9:24what's surprising to me is that we're so far into this episode and you haven't
- 9:28uttered the words Gabbo yet. It will tell us what to do. I
- 9:35did not appreciate Gabbo anywhere near enough as a child. Now listen and go,
- 9:39what a character. Just incredible. I mean a primo entertainer, you
- 9:43will give you one hundred percent, but also a dick. But he's also
- 9:46not real. It's a puppet. I know that's really treated like he's a
- 9:50person, but no, it was all the ventriloquist. Yeah, but how
- 9:54is Gabbo doing his doing his tally Gully? I don't know is he real
- 10:00or not? But he did have the real boy operation. I did love
- 10:05that on there. We're doing two episodes back today, back to back.
- 10:07Today we're doing classic or vintage Simpsons episodes. We're doing that exclusive for Patreon
- 10:13Home. I love Slanders review as well, so looking at season four and
- 10:18season five, one thing I noticed from the two episodes we're talking about is,
- 10:22yeah, a lot of great headline games, or maybe not a lot,
- 10:24but at least some. And I was always a sucker for those.
- 10:26I was at the after qumsis I'm a bad with a boy and two more
- 10:30bodies found. By the way, if we're coming ahead to the favorite moments,
- 10:35what's it my favorite? Anytime any public figure, and particularly those not
- 10:41in showbiz, start appropriating catchphrases, I always find that marvelous. For Quimby
- 10:50Sure Sank in the Murder of my enemies. But as Gaba would say,
- 10:54I'm made bad with a boy reelected just got through the road. It does
- 11:00this, doesn't it? I'm a bad boy. Great Quimby in these two
- 11:05episodes as well, and we will talk about we'll talk about one answers,
- 11:11just really steering with the new England accent. Give me two Dogs, two
- 11:15Sodas and two ways green bars lovely. I'm not going to say we forget
- 11:24the wonderful plethora of characters that Springfield has, but there's so many in these
- 11:28two episodes, particularly in this episode with the squares at the start of the
- 11:31Springfield Squares just Berry Way coming back, which is fantastic, but from day
- 11:37yeah, but for Rainy a Wolfcastle to be. It's always great when you
- 11:41realize, oh, this is in this episode and they're all little bit there's
- 11:45so many bits of this. Go oh, I can betely forgot about that?
- 11:48What the hell was that? Or even you know they're playing with the
- 11:52scale entries. Now let's throw some crumb. There's so many in the two
- 11:54episodes we're doing today, Homeless Slanders and Cross Against Canceled, so many iconic
- 11:58means shots. Absolutely, I didn't believe it. But Rainie a Wolf is
- 12:03at the very start, you know, talking about his new film helped my
- 12:05son is a nerd, just the way I am horrified to discover he is
- 12:09a nerd. It's just not a commedation. Just dug himself a hole.
- 12:16I'm sure you've been there before. Absolutely speaking of that, A Tarantino,
- 12:20I know as much as you do. I'll do you, fuddy, We
- 12:24do know about as much as these other were. Just not only he doesn't
- 12:26want to be my money. He didn't appreciate it. He didn't love it
- 12:31as much though he loved it. No, he didn't appreciate it. Gave
- 12:33you nothing, right, that's true, QT. What but what else?
- 12:37Were your favorite moments? I have not written anything of my favorite moments because
- 12:39it's all the top of my head. I particularly loved Flee when they enter
- 12:43Mos because apparently they said to him, look, you pretty much improvised what
- 12:46you want, but they said, just walking to Moses like hem, it's
- 12:48amal. The animation they give him as well, just yeah, I didn't
- 12:56tell them to do that. He just designed to scream like that, like
- 12:58well, well animated to it. That was one of my favorite moments.
- 13:01So excited to be there. Speaking of two other things. Speaking of Brockman,
- 13:07I love it when he does the Gabbo thing as well as that'll hold
- 13:09the littles. All of a sudden, Brockman in trouble and krusty desperate to
- 13:16get a comeback first thing for money, gets gets prank called by Gabbo repons.
- 13:24I rack you very much, Oh, mek you very much. I'm
- 13:28not in trouble for that. It's terrible to be laughing at these things,
- 13:31but at the same time you laugh at the fact that he's a dickhead very
- 13:35much. So Yeah, there was a lot of you brought the castle story
- 13:39before as well, but Bett Middless wouldn't agree to do it unless they acknowledge
- 13:43her. So her littering campaign a campaign. That's why she's done doing the
- 13:46Highway Star. It's great that they were able to fold as many gags and
- 13:50do it as they did. I mean, it's really one gag that she's
- 13:52just assaulting these drivers who litter. Yeah, but it works well on the
- 13:56on the two occasions that they do it. Also, thought Liz Taylor was
- 13:58a fast very much. Was just like painting yourself as like a villain,
- 14:03almost like like I'm too good for this, too good for this kind of
- 14:05thing. Yeah, she was. I always watch this as a kid going
- 14:09she doesn't seem like a nice person, but you know she was up for
- 14:11it. Yeah, good honor. But she was the voice of Maggy she
- 14:13was indeed. Yeah, and she recorded this on the same day. What's
- 14:16that story that you know? You had to say daddy or something and she's
- 14:20sexy? Apparently it's not true. Okay, everyone was like, ah,
- 14:24man, print the legend? What are you doing? Guys? Come on?
- 14:31Those were my favorite moms, but I'm sure there will be many more
- 14:35as we as we go throughout the episode. Let's go into some trivia questions,
- 14:37then, shall we? Next question? You there eating the paste?
- 14:41How about you start? All right, let's do it. So my first
- 14:45question for you is, what is the name of the racehorse that Krusty owns
- 14:50with Bette Midler. It's Cruddler. Crudler, Yes, the sponsor who makes
- 14:54pure pork sausages. Who is it? Oh? What is that? It's
- 14:58farmer Dan? Okay. What is the name of the dummy that Crusty has?
- 15:03Alphons? Alphons? Yes? How did I talk about that? Moment
- 15:11we were talking about it just gonna laugh. That's the moment that so we
- 15:13always talk about the two beads of review this episode. He'll tell us what
- 15:16to do and and they were my favorite moments. This is really threadbaar Din
- 15:24Store Ventril that just cracks the minute and cracking on the head kicks. It
- 15:30just looks like the worst kind of course, all the kids of the traumatize.
- 15:35The kids go kicks it into the audience. Oh I love that so
- 15:39much. A question for you? Or were you about to give me one?
- 15:43I just gave you alphons you did? Indeed, well, let me
- 15:46give you one. Also crust to related. What year was the Worker and
- 15:50Parasite cartoon made? Oh? So was it in Roman numerals? Was in
- 15:54actual nineteen seventy five? I'm going to say nineteen fifty nine fifty and I'd
- 16:02be right, yes. Okay, then well I need two questions written down,
- 16:03So I'm going to say I'm going to find one more. When they
- 16:07drove past Hugh Haffner's house, what was it? What was the bus for?
- 16:12Oh? It said something something. This is Springfield Star Tours, shelley
- 16:18Ville Star Tours. Shell We will starts sorry, who you have to have
- 16:19never lived in Springfield? What are you talking about? My mistake? Who
- 16:23are Johnny Carson's dinner guests that night? Ah? Okay, I won't look
- 16:27at my notes, so I know it's one from the San Diego Zoo and
- 16:30it is a doctor. It is doctor Carl Sagan, best known for writing
- 16:36the book Contact Okay and Joan Embry from the San Diego Zoo. That's the
- 16:42sweek is that they portrayed it for such a superman in this ditty. Well,
- 16:49by the end, I'm gonna lift this nineteen fifty nine eighty eighty seven,
- 16:56eighty seven buicks Gard Yeah, O my head, yes, and then
- 17:00bouncing Grandpa and Jastra. He said at the NBA playing the accordion, You're
- 17:03the greatest, Yeah, the greatest manager business. That maybe that guy.
- 17:06I'll say one more. How many did motel the Chili Peper's agent that the
- 17:10venue holds? How many people last night? Doub before? Who is Sicho
- 17:18Mel's manager at Krusty Berger? Oh, Dtor, I'm mister Johannison, Mister
- 17:23Johanson. Is he got new problem? No? We all just want that
- 17:26manager. That's really. There's got to add back right. Oh yeah,
- 17:29just a chill dude. Yeah, all right, So let's get into a
- 17:32review of Krusty Gets Canceled. The visional air date of the episode was May
- 17:37thirteenth, nineteen ninety three, production code nine F one nine, written by
- 17:41John Swartzwilder and directed by David Silverman. So to all timers right there,
- 17:45absolutely don't wonder. It's a classic. So the episode kicks off with Springfield
- 17:49Squares at the Springfield Harbor. And we talked earlier about help my son as
- 17:53a nerd? And did do you remember Celebrity Squares to be called? It
- 17:56was Hollywood Square. No, we didn't call because Celebrity Squares. Yes,
- 18:00I loved that show when I was a kid, but it's just gone.
- 18:03It just disappeared. I feel like we need to bring back fun game shows.
- 18:07We've got Deal and O Deal like kind of shit. I just want
- 18:08wackish prices, right, you were saying this the other day, bring back
- 18:14yes, the hurdling guy. Well, the price is right, still going
- 18:17in America. Drew carries the host. But I feel like the Prices Rise
- 18:18one of those shows where you can revive it every ten years or so because
- 18:22you're taken away and then when you go the prices rides returning to go,
- 18:25Yes, this is fun, and then we get our fix. And then
- 18:27five years later there it's been canceled. Well, I wasn't really watching it.
- 18:30Five years later it's back. It's back baby. It always feels the
- 18:33way that your family feuds in a bit of a lull moment, but it's
- 18:37back, baby. We found someone to host when that deal and O deal,
- 18:41isn't it Yeah, fortune et cetera, cetera. Yeah, but think
- 18:45big dumb shit like celebrity squares, get a bunch of TikTokers and influences on
- 18:49there, kids watching. Yeah, yeah, I used to love celebrity scare.
- 18:55We used to always have who was our main person in celebrity squares because
- 18:57what we got big was the American one. She was always on there.
- 19:00Who was the Australian equivalent of whoopee. He was like the Charlie Oh.
- 19:04We had someone who was always on there. So here's what I'm thinking.
- 19:07I mean, I know I watched Celebrity Square certainly, but there was one
- 19:11that I always watched called Blankety Blanks. Oh yeah, Graham Kennedy. Yeah,
- 19:14we're great. My idol as a kid, Oh fantastic, and Dave
- 19:18went ugly, Dave Gray, the standard comedian. He had this guy Noel
- 19:22Ferrier who was probably an actor. He was I can't remember him really acting
- 19:26anything, but he was kind of a portly, little not stuffy, but
- 19:30kind of a bit frasier ish. Yeah. This guy Stuart Wagstaff who was
- 19:36like a yeah, a bit of a not pompous brit but you know,
- 19:38slightly a little too little too smart and sophisticated with the show, but you
- 19:42know, he managed to bring just a bit of a class to the proceedings.
- 19:48Just all these regulars who would show up on the show and sort of
- 19:52do the rounds of these game shows. It was fascinating. I feel like
- 19:56for those who are listening overseas, Graham Kennedy if trying to describe me,
- 20:00he was a combination. He was almost like he was a Carson but with
- 20:02a bit of Jimmy Fallon thrown into it with the wackiness. He was like,
- 20:06he was, yeah, if we're going way back to like Carson here,
- 20:08he's like Carson with Robin Williams energy. Yeah, or say I'm throwing
- 20:17a really antique names here, but like Jack Benny Yaw like he was just
- 20:22he was a comedian as well as a host. Yeah, and so a
- 20:26lot of the comedy bled through, and a lot of it was kind of
- 20:30not bad boy comedy. He was just like a bit of a cheeky doing.
- 20:33He said fuck on television, yes, but he said it in the
- 20:34way of a of a crow. So he was like, fag, I'm
- 20:38just just being a crow. And I was like, I don't think you
- 20:41are. What are you getting away with him? He was known as the
- 20:45king and for good reason. Yes, so Celebrity Squares of Springfield Scarees is
- 20:49going on. It's a giant title wave with coast garts get away, fifty
- 20:52foot tight a wave. Charlie refuses to go what was his Who is this
- 20:55Charlie guy? I have no idea. I'm going to go my next I
- 20:57should know this. I don't know if he's like an actual person or just
- 21:00a Springfield regularly, because I was looking and they never they don't put his
- 21:04name. They do say his name. At one point, I just say
- 21:07Charlie, do they Charlie must have been like a regular on Hollywood Squares called
- 21:12Charlie Charlie. Hollywood Squares let's google it right now. She's done this earlier.
- 21:18Cliff Ar Kett, Oh, yes, he's on Hollywood Square so or
- 21:19they called him in something else here. But Charlie Weaver, Oh, I've
- 21:23heard of Charlie. It's Cliff Kett. Cliff Kett is like the father of
- 21:27the arcades, like Rosanna and Patricia. So cliff Ar Kett is a pit
- 21:32cliff Ar Keutt and the Hollywood Squares. And it's just cliff I Kett in
- 21:33the square in the bottom corner. So maybe it's meant to be a take
- 21:37off of Cliff Arkett. Possibly it looks just like he's just like Charlie on
- 21:40this on this episode. So and I'm just like we got Barry White back.
- 21:44He set himself up very nicely in the top right hand corner. Pause,
- 21:47casually knows where her bread's buttered a lava lamp, Pitt, did you
- 21:56see that? Yeah, what's gabble? Figure? It's some guys name some
- 22:02guy named Gable. So that is just the perfect marketing. Just get your
- 22:07attention first. You go and get the attention first and then draw them in.
- 22:10But Homer tries to figureut who it's reading the paper, turning it sideways.
- 22:12Look, I tell you anything, there's teasing it, Dad, It's
- 22:15just it's just you have to watch it to find out. So he tries
- 22:17to use all the power in his brain. You see the billboard Garble is
- 22:21coming and the sermon from Lovejoy. No one is saying, worship this Jerry
- 22:26Cole that I forgot just how quickly they got into things. Oh yeah,
- 22:30it's within the within like a minute, it's just Gabbles here, Garble was
- 22:33coming and everyone's excited. Yeah, as I said, he'll tell us what
- 22:37you tell us what to do? How great is that? It's the first
- 22:41clips of Gabbo though he's going to be there every day at four, and
- 22:45Bart's worrying. Oh he need is a hook. I'm a ban little boy.
- 22:51Yeah yeah, So then you know, I've never actually seen the connection
- 22:56there. There you go, that's the you idiot Dan. Oh no,
- 23:00that's a bit of the Simpsons. You're constantly finding new jokes. There was
- 23:03a joking Hamah loves Flanners that it was when he arrives at the church of
- 23:07someone saying something in the background that I never would picked up had it to
- 23:08be for the subtitles. I was like, I've never. Now that I
- 23:11know it's there, I'm gonna hear it every time. We'll get into it
- 23:15and tease for our Patreon exclusive. If it's what I'm thinking. I was
- 23:18like, oh, I did not know that, not the Fallen one.
- 23:21Okay, because that's the father one. That's my favorite moment whole episode,
- 23:27just about back to crusting its cancers. But yeah, so he then sings
- 23:33his song. Yeah, God, I love him. He's like, oh
- 23:36Ship, well you screwed now. Crusty is pulling out all the stops.
- 23:41Yeah, fucking unstoppable Crusty. You know he's not bothering. Yeah, slide
- 23:45of the Special Olympics. Everyone's trying to take me on and they never win.
- 23:48But then he gets the ratings and he lost to the channel Ocho,
- 23:51which is the w be Mande a couple of eggs on the face and he
- 23:53steals the bit and then which is planning the sea for later, because Crusty
- 23:56is no for stealing bits from Steve Allen. Correct, Then bart Mill has
- 24:00Nelson then melting trains on the card track and let's put some crudd on it.
- 24:03What is the fascination with crud as a kid, What exactly is crud.
- 24:07I thought crub was just like shit, right otherwise just mak Yeah.
- 24:14I always thought it was like mud with like sticks and grass in it.
- 24:18Yeah yeah, I'm a filthy, repulsive, or contemptible person. Is a
- 24:22crud something something that is worthless, objectionable, or contemptible, So basically anything
- 24:26that's just crap? Yeah yeah, anyway, as opposed to chud. That's
- 24:33when the chuds came at me. So you want ventriloquism, do you watch
- 24:41this? Hello, Well, fans, I've got a riddle for you.
- 24:45Why is a raven like a writing desk? I don't know. Why is
- 24:49the Hey? That dummy can't hurt you. He's not even alive, he's
- 24:56dead. It's iconic, the visual of the kids screaming and his dog just
- 25:12had burst open and mouth mouth, a gate broken off, broken jewel,
- 25:17his limbs, the arm off, kicked it. Have you had a moment
- 25:22this is usually something you see on a golf course, on someone's bits of
- 25:23dummy, but you throw something the ground and kick it. Have you had
- 25:26a moment where you spat the dummy and kicked something. I've seen friends snapped
- 25:30golf clubs of her poles and kick them. I've certainly done some kicking and
- 25:33to the point where it's like, now I've hurt my foot. I saw
- 25:37a friend of mine, the white name. Name's not embarrassing, but he
- 25:41he's keen on this girl. And we always always just went, ah,
- 25:44she's not really rip mate, Like we can tell she's not leading you on,
- 25:48but we know you might spiritual occasionally, but we know there's nothing there.
- 25:51She's not she's not there for the long haul. And then he saw
- 25:53her. He thought he was like in with he thought she laughed him,
- 25:56and then he saw her kissing someone else, and he walked out inside the
- 26:00Rica Hotel here in Geelong and kicked this ben and broke three of his toes.
- 26:03It's just like, don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh. But
- 26:07that's the universe telling you this girl's not for you. Yes, yeah,
- 26:10move on, buddy. That girls for the streets. And he is happily
- 26:14married with two kids. So yeah, yes, all worked out well for
- 26:17redacted, Yes, redacted, how you do? But basically yeah, so
- 26:22Acruss is now resorting to offering forty dollars checks will not beyond. So one
- 26:30thing I do miss about these early episodes when they would have those little very
- 26:33hush disclaimers like that way checks will not be on it not a guarantee.
- 26:37It reminds me of just you know us to watch the political ads following.
- 26:42Yeah. I also why are they speaking so fast and as because you've got
- 26:45to get all the ship take it up all the time. Then the little
- 26:48disclaimer has to be. As long as it's in there, you can't understand
- 26:51anything they're saying. Conditions are but Quimby Now he says he used the city
- 26:57treasury to fund the murder of his enemies. But I'm a bad little boy.
- 27:00It's the hands that's what gets me. Now it's she is Scratchy,
- 27:03who are now on Gabbo. So you can't play she scratchy crusty. He
- 27:07has to play worker and parasitean always loved worker in parasite. Just this absolute
- 27:11surreal Soviet from post World War two? What the hell was that? Is
- 27:22top three I reckon most used screenshots for sixty teams. He's got the cigarette
- 27:30danger Yeah, and the audience have all left. The ball bailed on Krusty.
- 27:34So now Krusty is telling everybody that he's been canceled. I remember for
- 27:38some reason in my head him being canceled and then telling him he's canceled.
- 27:41But you don't get that. No, I know there's a bleeded scene somewhere.
- 27:45Maybe they tell him then, I'm not too sure, but it's just
- 27:48him explained that to the team being canceled. I think it's easy to complaint
- 27:52this and the other episode where he's basically run out of money. Yeah,
- 27:56I r s yeah, and he's always got that account. Who's saying Guy
- 28:00O that side of the cameras, but the think that's the one that's right.
- 28:04But this is where he doesn't want you're looking family and side show muggets.
- 28:08A couple of lines here, not teen season equivalent, but you know,
- 28:11no, you know, welcome family, your whole. Then he sees
- 28:15Carson goes to see him at his house. I'm sure you you saved quite
- 28:18the nest egg. I'm like Guy and Dad, I can relate. They're
- 28:25playing tennis. He runs through his guest list for dinner and doctor Carl Sagan
- 28:27as he said it, and Joan Embry from the San Diego Zoo. Then
- 28:30it's cut to him doing an audition for Morrow's Place to stage play. I
- 28:33guess is it it's honest. Is it a stage, I don't know.
- 28:37I think I think it's an audition for the show. So the show,
- 28:40okay, But he's nose and he loses his final ten dollars betting on the
- 28:45horse at the Springfield downs. Oh, because that's right. The horse comes
- 28:48up and it's very friendly. No, don't look at me. Yeah,
- 28:52kids, Then watch Gabbo doing his prank call I've got a big kick,
- 28:56guys out of him going it's r so you gotta kill the time, you
- 29:03fill the gap, you can't sit down, and so simple, but it
- 29:08adds so much it's ringing. Hello. Is this Krusty the Cloud? Is
- 29:15this the callback for that porno film? Look? It was a little nervous
- 29:18that day, but I'm all man, I can assure you no. I
- 29:23represent a Japanese camera company. We'd like to pay you two million dollars to
- 29:29do a camera commercial. Whoa me riichy very much? Oh? I hope
- 29:33I didn't offend you. I need this bad, bad enough to hit yourself
- 29:37over the head with the phone. WHOA you got it? Jo Blood?
- 29:47What if this is anyone but Steve Rallan, you're stealing my bit. Somebody
- 29:52had to ruin Gabble's career the way he ruined Krusty's. He wrongs, don't
- 29:56make a right bike? Yes he do, No he don't, Yes he
- 29:59do gay do wrong, Lisa. I love it with Homers authoritative like that.
- 30:06I mean, he's wrong, but he's completely wrong. But he's doing
- 30:10the whole Father knows best thing. I mean, you've got the glasses on
- 30:11reading the papers like this guy seems legit. Now, there's an iconic Simpson's
- 30:17little backstage bit that we used to always do the rounds on marathons and things
- 30:21like that, which shows Yardley and Nancy recording this in the studio. He
- 30:26goes, no, no, no, it doesn't. It cuts to ski
- 30:30pants and Dan and Dan in real times as two wrongs. We can right.
- 30:32It was all recorded in one take. I want to get this audio
- 30:34of this bit and then back to back that up because it's so cool Washington
- 30:37Simpson's voice actors actually doing the show, and there's very limited footage of it
- 30:44released anyway. That's interesting. It's so weird. I guess at the time
- 30:48that anything because you look at it's like, oh, we've got the the
- 30:51guys recording the Lion King The Lion King thirtith anniversary was last week or the
- 30:53week before, and there was some footage that's just been released. It's like,
- 30:56you've been sitting on this ship for thirty years. Why have you not
- 30:59released this? Like, yeah, it's so weird, Like people want to
- 31:03see voice actors doing the roles. They certainly do. Yeah, But anyway,
- 31:07so Chrust, he's not doing well, you know that he's falling through
- 31:10the prank phone calls and all that kind of thing. But then I've got
- 31:12here home. Yeah, so Bart visits the studio to he's gonna get back
- 31:15at Gabbo because that's what the two wrongs not making right this was talking about,
- 31:18and we really spouse down for an ad for Gabbo airlines. It's such
- 31:26a little jerk, isn't he? Oh Gabbo. But it's like ventraloquism,
- 31:30right, it's such a unique niche of a career where you're the life of
- 31:37this puppet. But it's almost like they create a new personality for themselves and
- 31:41they voice their grievances studio. You get the feeling that someone who's a ventraloquist
- 31:45has got bipolar, or they got a business, a friendly or something oh.
- 31:48They they've got a few demons. They're very very repressed people and they're
- 31:52letting it out through Teddy Bear or whoever. Yeah, everyone always goes to
- 31:59Stratsman, don't they. They do, Yeah, except I remember there was
- 32:01one. Remember we had him at pop Culture. Yeah, yeah, I
- 32:06remember that. When Straisman became a thing, right, it was huge.
- 32:07It was like so populous, so everyone everyone loved Stratsman for a while,
- 32:10wasn't It was gabbo oh very much that right, But then this other guy
- 32:14came around. I can't remember. He's Jeff Doneham Jeff, and he had
- 32:16the terrorist puppet. Yeah. I was like shout up, I kidd you,
- 32:19and everyone's like, funck, we cannot do this now. It was
- 32:23just a terrorist ve like like whoaly ship is the may be wrong about Stratsman,
- 32:31but I mean he came to pop Culture when we were working there and
- 32:35I was at some event where he was doing his many people there, there
- 32:37were a few actually, because he was huge in Australia because he was on
- 32:40when we had Hey Saturday. It would come and he do bits on that
- 32:45kind of like some people are just really famous in Australia but not back home.
- 32:47The guy from Weiredest Brendan. This leasing of Weirdest Tenage Dopey came out.
- 32:52It wasn't a hit, right, not a hit at all. Number
- 32:53one in Australia, So let's just go to Australia. There one thing I'd
- 32:57like about if I was a rock star. I mean, of course he'd
- 33:00want to be huge, but I think it'd be also great to be kind
- 33:02of niche, like really big in Germany. It's always Germany and you can
- 33:07always go back to Germany or Japan. David Hasselhoff, Yeah, he is
- 33:10an icon. It's like run a little on cash, Okay, time for
- 33:15a tour of Germany or whatever. Yeah, I think little side hustle.
- 33:22It's kind of cool about it. What I always loved about the end of
- 33:24Spinal Tap. You know, it's like, oh, well the band's history.
- 33:29No, you guys are huge in Japan and they go and they perform
- 33:31and just love Spiral Tap in Japan. But basically here this is where Gabbo
- 33:36gets in trouble because but flicks on, well he sounds the wise guy to
- 33:38go look at the look. Yeah, let's not forget about this. This
- 33:42guy just he knocks like three of them out of the park. Hey boy,
- 33:45what's so funny? Oh no, I'm very low brown. And then
- 33:50this gotta see I was just smiling from the beginning to end. I'm always
- 33:53happy when you get a wise guy, and oh no, I'm very little
- 33:57bro. I feel like if you were going to get a Simpsons tato,
- 33:59it would be the white. It probably would be Yeah, he's your man,
- 34:01isn't he? He boil, what's so funny? Well, nah,
- 34:09you wouldn't be interested. It's too low brow. No, I'm quite low
- 34:13bro. Well, somebody just wrote a body limerick on the men's room wall.
- 34:16This say, gotta see other kids in Springfield? Or so bees?
- 34:24Gabbo's kind of language has no place on or off TV. And that's my
- 34:30two cents. I don't know how those sol bees. What the Then we
- 34:37see Krusty and he's now dropping his pants for food for food? Will drop
- 34:42pants for food for food? Yeah? But unfortunately the old Jewish guy's giving
- 34:44anyway for free, and the old gray man sure ain't what she used to
- 34:46be. He then they didn't take him home, and he sees the pits.
- 34:51I see the picture of all the subjects in the wall. But the
- 34:52first one they see is Luke Perry, who is revealed he is his half
- 34:55brother. Yeah, that's why I've always thought I may have mentioned on the
- 34:59podcast before. Or Jack Perry, Luke Perry son, who's a restaurant.
- 35:01Aw now, why would he not be a guest star of the Simpsons as
- 35:05Krusty's nephew. It's a very good point. Does he still go by jungle
- 35:08Boy or whatever? No, he's now just Jack Perry. It's a pretty
- 35:10cool name. Yeah, it is a very cool name, isn't it.
- 35:15Jack's just a cool name. Jack, just Jack. Jungle Boy is like,
- 35:19you know, it's a character, but he's just Jack Perry. It's
- 35:21like your dad is Luke Perry just big Jack Perry. But Liz Taylor as
- 35:27well, she's I told him to go away good, but we're not quite
- 35:31up to that. But yeah, running through the people, said Liz Taylor,
- 35:34Bette Midler, and they suggested, let's do a special so it gives
- 35:37them the dress address book. I have to clow my way back on TV.
- 35:39But it's not gonna be easy. Que the old Jewish guys now hit
- 35:43and well got the old the old old man dancers. Well this you mentioned
- 35:46hay Hayes Saturday before. This is very much a Red FAC's skit, isn't
- 35:50it. It is, although I think the old Man dancers sounds like a
- 35:52pretty professional outfit. This isn't like an amateur hour thing. It's so weird
- 35:55that you brought up Hayes Saturday because I watched one video of Red Faces like
- 36:00three days ago on YouTube. Now my algorithm is just filled with guest appearances
- 36:04from Red Faces, and there's one that had Will Smith and Shaquille O'Neill as
- 36:08the guest scorers, and I was like, what a lone up? Oh
- 36:12god, ye Will Smith. It was the place to be. It was
- 36:15the big show. Say, when I watch it, that's cornish ship now.
- 36:20Oh absolutely. When John Blackman, who was the voiceover guy, he
- 36:22passed away. He passed away recently. Yeah, they had some tributes on
- 36:25TV and of course they were showing hey, hey clips. It's like everybody
- 36:30came to hey, this was the best alone. There's Will Smith, there's
- 36:35all the biggest stars of the day. And then Rove sort of took the
- 36:37mantle from that, didn't he He did, and then he just sort of
- 36:39goes, I'm done, and just like retired because you wanted to go tackle
- 36:43America. Yeah, had Rove America, which fucking taint and some things in
- 36:46America for a little while. And now and now he's doing radio with Abby
- 36:51somebody, I think, or whatever. But he's just he's never become Rove
- 36:53again, has he. He was like the gold LOGI every year kind of
- 36:57thing. Although I was walking through the supermarket the day, yeah, stealing
- 37:00stuff, walking through the supermarket the other day, buying stuff, and that
- 37:06was stealing money from you with the prices, that's correct. Yes, Infletion
- 37:13was here SLB. I saw you know the rack of magazines that the checkout,
- 37:17Yeah, it was. I think we might have been TV. We've
- 37:20got something with the Rove on the cover saying I'm not done yet. So
- 37:23I'm pretty sure that indicates that you are, by the way, Robe coming
- 37:29on the show. So friend of the pod, I'll show you, come
- 37:30on, I'll show you. He probably would actually, Okay, Zack cut
- 37:34all that out, but it's like, okay, so what are you going
- 37:37to do? Make a comeback, and good for you. I just to
- 37:39watch Rove because I always wanted to have my own talk show when I was
- 37:42kid. That was my thing. I was like, I'm gonna have my
- 37:43own talk show, and now you do. Now I top, no one
- 37:45listens. Basically, I wanted my own This thing's not even plugged in.
- 37:47Yeah yeah, all this time you're on this podcast, you still pay me.
- 37:54I will happily indulge his man's delusion, will indulge delusions for money,
- 38:00aw food. So I always wanted to have my own talk show. So
- 38:05I used to like study Row and then I started and I saw let him
- 38:07and I was like, oh, this guy knows what he's doing. This
- 38:10is how you do it. It's Middler. I can't believe you did it
- 38:15all by yourself. We are Americans. We deserve clean highways. Your pegs.
- 38:23Oh no, but Middler, shall we all start tours? Bart goes
- 38:36to see who you have. No, we get chili peppers at Mo's,
- 38:38and we want we want chili. Really it was a love but sort of
- 38:43smuggling them out by saying, look over there, what is it. I'm
- 38:47gonna stop looking soon. So great is that it? Can I look too,
- 38:52It's gonna cast it now back to the wall, Liz Taylor. I
- 38:54told him the buzzer good. Then they arrive and Crusty's completely overweight. How
- 39:00long were they gone for? This is me eating drinking of the milkshakes,
- 39:05but I understand that. But how long were they gone for? Because he's
- 39:08ballooned? This is an absolute tangent, but it's something I've always found very
- 39:14funny. Ryan Gosling years ago, was cast by Peter Jackson to be the
- 39:19lead in this movie, The Lovely Bones. He was meant to play this
- 39:21grieving father and Ryan Gosling he looked like Ryan Goslin this day, so we
- 39:24thought, well, this dad is going to be a bit of a sad
- 39:27sack. He like melted tubs of Ben and Jerry's in his microwave and just
- 39:32drank it. And to put on a but to put on some weight fast
- 39:37to be the dad in this movie. He got on New Zealand where Peter
- 39:40Jackson was making the movie. Peter Jackson, look at you'd been in my
- 39:44movie looking like that, You're fined. He didn't. He got replaced by
- 39:49Mark Wulburg. Holy shit, why because such Jonnage wasn't he supposed to put
- 39:55on weight? Though? I think I don't think he consulted Peter Jackson on
- 39:59what he he was going to do. Think Jackson was back now and goes,
- 40:05I had gossling. I supposed to Wholburg. Warburg was was pretty hot
- 40:07at that. So they found Krusty. Yeah, he's put on all the
- 40:09weight and they said, look, can you move in with us and how
- 40:13we get back into shape. Homo says, they've got a sofa bed bed
- 40:15that was the previous one. Tries a bit open. Then they're working on
- 40:19his pie routine, his aim and hit him in the face of the piets
- 40:22or warm. It's actually piping hot piping, so delicious. Yes, Then
- 40:27we get the boxing and he sees Gabbos and he punches Homer pop prices off
- 40:30through the roof. He cuts back. Yeah. Then Krusty is I always
- 40:35liked the bit of Marge and in the aerobics. Yeah, I didn't touch
- 40:39it with their matching leotards and stuff. It's like the Crusty is just he's
- 40:44accepted here. Yes, I've hit rock bottom. These people are not like
- 40:47professional trainers, but these are the only ones who are willing to help me
- 40:51now. And he's acknowledging that, and it's nice. At the end the
- 40:52kids get acknowledged as well. That's true. Yes, and you've also got
- 40:57Krusty's trying to get into shape by doing the rocky thing, punching the big
- 40:59side of be and Homer, of course, is taking bites out of it,
- 41:01because when people go out of their way to help you with things,
- 41:04you should always acknowledge them, shouldn't you? You should indeed, So now
- 41:08Chrusty is begging Mal to return to the show. He's working at the Gulp
- 41:13and Blow, and he's refused. He guess no, here I'm being respected.
- 41:15Mister Jannison treats me with dignity except the earlier version of the squeaky voice
- 41:20tin. I want to say, he's got the voice, but he's not
- 41:22quite designed right yet. I guess not. I tac over and to the
- 41:24thing. Ah oh another. Honestly, it's twenty twenty four and this shit
- 41:29still happens. You look at people in Case and you're like, oh,
- 41:31look at you guys. You are not going to be making my hamburger correctly,
- 41:34you know, Oh no, you're You're an absolute buffoon. I'm not
- 41:38sure how familiar or appreciative listeners of Forfinger Discount are of the Australian podcaster and
- 41:45YouTuber friendly Jeordie's. But he'll occasionally have this thing where it's like KFC horror
- 41:50stories or fast food horror stories? Is he still doing Is he still doing
- 41:52his bit because he was like all the ray you Yeah, he was off
- 41:55the radar for all because someone burned down his house. Yeah yeah, but
- 41:59was that not a publicity that wasn't known? It was. It was a
- 42:01really good one. But yeah, he'll do these ones occasionally, like right
- 42:07in with your fast food worker horror stories and yeah, some of the ones
- 42:09are here, particularly bad KFC are just like, oh, I'm never having
- 42:13you know, tenders again. Yeah, because the shrunk triggers, right,
- 42:17yeah, shrink flation. We're in the pool. But so yeah, basically
- 42:24Mail refuses to come back, which is just planting the seeds for the big
- 42:28return later on. By the way, Also just great line from not quite
- 42:31Squeaky Boys team. But yeah, that's a bit of an I kind of
- 42:34one. Had a girlfriend should kill me, she'd kill me? Yes,
- 42:36and outstip of the rehearsal, Loup Perry is doing his balloons crust. He
- 42:38does a horsey I think it was, and Perry does a nineteenth century carousette
- 42:43and he kicks him out, I love this please, he's for love's sake.
- 42:46Oh fine, I'll find something for you, and he has the vision
- 42:49of him hitting the brick wall and new look for Look, Yes, new
- 42:52look for Luke, Our time for the spash the special, So Krusty Special
- 42:57tonight, gabbled have real boy operation Now they planned the seeds earlier in the
- 43:00episode about ray J Johnson, Yes, which was when he was talking about
- 43:05how they're being canceled, and these are the guests we're getting on. No,
- 43:07no, we had great guests except for ray J Johnson. Now that's
- 43:10who Gabbo has. So Krusty now suggests to the chili pepers. Now,
- 43:15this is apparently a take on from the Doors movie. When was it Ed
- 43:17Sullivan who suggested that the doors don't sing? Certain looks a light my fire.
- 43:22So yeah, whether this actually happened on the Ed Sullivan Show is up
- 43:25to debate. But the design of where the way they're sitting in this shot
- 43:30is exactly how the doors were in the film. Yeah, I want to
- 43:32revisit the Doors of the film. I remember really enjoying it when I was
- 43:36like, I've watched since I was a teenager, but I remember Kim were
- 43:37being really good. I loved it. Yeah, big fan of the Doors
- 43:40movie. Yeah, I have to check it out. You've got I think
- 43:45it's Flea who's doing a lot of thrusting. He's always thrusting, but just
- 43:49the everyone can enjoy that, so many great moments. Yeah, forget you,
- 43:55Claire. Okay, but what about what I wanted? I want hug
- 44:00and kiss you. Oh that's much better. I just wish I had it
- 44:06actually sung that. Later on I heard them actually singing those lyrics. But
- 44:08this was great publicity for the Chili Peper. They're already a huge band with
- 44:12the kids, right, but if parents are watching this, they'd be put
- 44:15into such a more positive light. Oh god, yeah, like, oh
- 44:16they're nice guys. Yeah, they're not these weird sort of sex magic dudes
- 44:22from the La Underworld. Yeah. Then just a bunch of nice guys.
- 44:24Yeah. So then they're playing their underpants. He sings send in the Clowns.
- 44:30And this is a great rendition, isn't it? It is? And
- 44:32it's moving even like twenty twenty four, it's twenty years ago this episode aired,
- 44:36or even not more. It's still moving where Mal walks in, Yeah,
- 44:39I borrowed a bit from the Elvis Si exten a lot of based Yeah,
- 44:44but I love your crusty quiet. Then he shoots Luke Perry out of
- 44:47the cannon and just my face, my valuable face, and just as you
- 44:50said, the sounds through the glass landed a pillow factory explodes. I love
- 44:53the content looks like a bunch of pillows that it cuts to crusty it crowd
- 45:00of Blauds. Then the chili Pepper's look at it, look at him out
- 45:05there, saying so degrading is where's my lalie for the little stinker sketch.
- 45:09Carson then lifts the nineteen eighty seven Buick skylike above his head while oh no,
- 45:15I'm thinking of another bit of music. So you have then playing stuff
- 45:20from Tayler's looking at her diamonds, and she don't need to fire my agent.
- 45:22Then Bette Midler does distribute as she did to Carson, win beneath my
- 45:25Wings, which she's saying on the I think the second last episode of Carson.
- 45:29It sounds about right. I've never liked win beneath my Wings No,
- 45:32for reasons it strokes means the ultimate humble brag song. I was like everything
- 45:38I do is great. I'm doing so fantastic in life, couldn't do it
- 45:43without you. But check this out. You know I'm the one with the
- 45:45wings. You're just the wind beneath. That's fine, that's fine. I
- 45:50can fly fire. You just win. I can fly higher than an eagle.
- 45:53Not without you, though you helped. If Bett Miller said that song
- 45:59for you, would you feel special? I would? I get what you're
- 46:01saying. Yeah, yeah, it's like I'm the important one. You've You've
- 46:05helped me get to where I am. But go google the lyrics of wind
- 46:07Beneath My Wings and it's basically this person saying everything's going so great for me.
- 46:13Thanks. You deserve an Emmy for this cause more Dinalds. That's just
- 46:17the Simpsons riders getting bad at them with the Emmys. Then it's time for
- 46:21the celebration party at Mo's and there's a he's getting cold fish on the love
- 46:24test. I've test behind me here, you do, indeed, I saw
- 46:28it right here, So I hold off with the camera. There it is
- 46:30love test. Not sure it's in focus or not. But now I'm out
- 46:31of focus. I think, okay, my focus, I know my focus.
- 46:36I'm sure find out. But the love test here pretty sure you'd be
- 46:39a hot to Marley, I would be a you'd be a casanova, that's
- 46:43for sure. Is that the top one? Yes, hot tomorrow is a
- 46:45second o the guys, you've be number two. You're the wind beneath you
- 46:52have is a cold fish and he's happy about it. Apparently might have been
- 46:57so in real life, and his lady is, but you know who among
- 46:59us? Then Carson says, now, remember save money. This time he's
- 47:02a rubistatic fand I was crusty. No. Then Chili Pepper's arrived. He
- 47:07it's so great, and Hithert and Wigham are in now andies as well,
- 47:10do that my handies. And then the kids say they're getting fift percent of
- 47:14the shirt sails. That the sweetest blooms of the club. That's the sweetest
- 47:20plum. Yeah, they pulled the George Lucas. It's the biggest fantastic That's
- 47:23one of the things. I was just happy, so happy for George Lucas
- 47:27when he when he made all his millions and he still billion but when he
- 47:30made his billions. But the same with the folks at Fox is like okay,
- 47:34yeah, fine, you can have all this at the merch. They're
- 47:37like Wars next thing, you know. Now, there is a moment here
- 47:46when Carson is playing the theme and the Grandpa and Jasper everyone's gathered around the
- 47:52shot. Just prior to that. Did you see what was out the window?
- 47:54Tell me it's Liz Taylor looking in. Oh, I never noticed that
- 47:59as a kid over the last movie review. I think I may have noticed.
- 48:00But yeah, Liz Taylor's at the window gazing, wishing she was part
- 48:04of the party. Oh, nice little easter. Good on Liz Taylor for
- 48:07Oh, she had nothing to do with that, but playing there, but
- 48:12being part of two Simpsons episodes, yeah, I mean they got They of
- 48:15course attracted a lot of great talent over the years and still do. I
- 48:19don't know whether she was actually marketed as being Liz Taylor in the Simpsons this
- 48:22week when it was her voicing Daddy, but certainly for a certain cohort,
- 48:28and particularly we know when this episode comes out. I mean, you're thick
- 48:30in the generation x Weeds. Even if people aren't like oh, like I
- 48:36was saying, for oh, Liz Taylor is like an A list. I
- 48:38mean, you're not going to get her for your She's still a good she's
- 48:42still a really good get, cause she's like legitimate Hollywood royalty. But not
- 48:45for kids, the kids, No kid, I couldn't give a shit.
- 48:46But but honestly, yeah, for a slightly more grown up audience or slightly
- 48:52grown more grown viewers, like these guys mean business because even you know the
- 48:55name Elizabeth Taylor, right, I knew. I knew of her, Yeah,
- 49:00you know, she reminds me of another name who I don't know anything
- 49:02about her. When I was a kid, but I always used to hear
- 49:05people talking it was lies of Menelly. I'd always hear people talking about Lis
- 49:07of Monelley. I'm like, who is this lies of Menaley? She's obviously
- 49:10somebody. Yeah, but I couldn't tell you who she was, And she'd
- 49:14be on the Nanny should be doing this something like who are you? Why
- 49:15are you on all these shows that I want? And it's great when you
- 49:19well, if you get curious and you sort of wind the tape back and
- 49:21you say, oh my god, they can do all this fantastic stuff.
- 49:24All they inspired all these other people. You can see the influence that they
- 49:28had on so and so. A few years down the line, it's one
- 49:30thing I love about heart and entertainment. It's like, yeah, just going
- 49:32back a little bit. Oh, this influenced this, This influenced this.
- 49:36I watched this really old movie a couple of weeks ago called Metropolis. It's
- 49:40like a German movie from my twenties. Yeah, you love that movie?
- 49:44I do like it. No, No, what's the one you have the
- 49:45poster of Metropolis? Yeah? Yeah, I mean it's very much of It's
- 49:52like it's a silent movie from the nineteen twenties, but you look at the
- 49:55shit in that and it's influenced so many fucking things. What's the action movie
- 50:00that is influenced basically every action movie we've ever seen? Oh that's a good
- 50:02point seven something, was it? Oh seven Samurai? Yeah yeah, unless
- 50:07you're a movie No, I mean it's highly acclaim, but the average person
- 50:09probably hasn't heard of it. But if that at least watched it. Yeah,
- 50:13still the name sort of you would you will have heard it even if
- 50:16I haven't seen it. But yeah, overall, Chrussy gets canceled. This
- 50:19is just basically them sort of pulling their dickeat and saying, look at us,
- 50:22look at all the guest stars we have. Yeah, it's very much
- 50:23a time capture ninety three. Though all the guest stars here aren't really relevant
- 50:28now, any of them. I think it's just nice we lived through this
- 50:30ear so we know who the guest stars are. But Alliot would watch this
- 50:34now and go, I don't know who any of these people are. No,
- 50:36you wouldn't know Luke Perry probably, yeah, probably wouldn't even know the
- 50:38Chili Peppers, not until he's older, as the Chili was probably the one
- 50:44that sort of lasted the longest, as Flea calls them the red Hots.
- 50:46Yeah. So yeah, thank you guys for your support. He had four
