- 0:36SPEAKER_02: It is tonight.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: Jeff, tonight, tonight.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: I'm you know, I I'm excited about most of our shows, Jeff, or really all of our shows.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: But you know, tonight, Jeff, tonight, I am so excited about this one because you know, you know what we're doing tonight?
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: We've had, you know, we've been doing this for a few months now, most about half a year, about half of this 2022 year here.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: And I thought, what a great way to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, the end of the year, and and this festive holiday season.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: We'll just get everybody that's been on our show all year.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: And we'll bring them in.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: We're in eccentric Ladyland Studios tonight, and uh I I thought we'd just bring them all in for a Christmas party, you know.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Well, and and you know, there's two things to celebrate here.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess there's many other holidays to celebrate, but one of the things, Steve, that you may not be aware of is that this is our 25th anniversary.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: This is our 25th podcast show.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: It is, yes, possibly.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: I remember when we started 25.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: I remember when we started 25 weeks ago or so.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: I have a dim memory.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: I was a lot younger when we started.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: I was, yeah.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: I think I think I had hair.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: You did.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: You did.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: I remember because you kept saying, Hey, I can't, I can't wear these this headset because it messes up my hair.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: I remember you saying that.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah, and and so and look at look at everything that has changed, and all the all the beautiful shows we've done and all the good we've done for the the millions, the millions of listeners that are listening right now to this show.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: And Jeff, Jeff, you know, now the guests aren't here yet, but we got we got the punch out, we got the cookies out, we got uh a little tree in the corner here.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: Uh I I had to tip Cedric Lady Land Studios a little bit to get the tree in here, but you know, they they they put they brought it in, and uh most of the guests haven't arrived yet, but we've got a couple of great guests on the other side of that glass here.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, and I can guess, I can guess the first one because you know he promised me he'd be here at my dad's here, right?
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, where is he?
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know he's he's he's coming, he's not here yet.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: He's not here yet, he's on his way.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Okay, but look who's over there, Jeff.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: I know you know these two, they were our Thanksgiving guests.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, Steve, your your mom and girlfriend.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh my god.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, hey.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: We drove separately.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we drove separately, Stevie.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: We didn't drive together.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, hey mom, mom, you gotta use the ashtrays in there, they get really mad about that.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Uh nobody's gonna care.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: I just I just use one of these boxes over here.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: Somebody had been wrapping, like they they wrapped something.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: I just tipped it into the bow.
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be fine.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: It'll be fine.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: As long as it's cold ash, it'll be good.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: I think you're good.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: I think you're fine.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: And and it'll cool off.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: And look who else is over there, Jeff.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Meg.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Well, hi, hi, Meg.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: All the way from Florida.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Hi, Jeff.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Hey, Meg.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Meg, you know, there's an old uh it's a wives tale, maybe not wives' tale, an old saying that to know how you will treat your wife, all you have to do is look at how he treats his mother.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: And that will tell you.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And Meg, you're getting a good chance to take a look at this because you know, Steve and and his mom have a very special relationship.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: And uh Meg, I think it I think it bodes well for you.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: Nothing's gonna change, Stevie.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: You don't worry, nothing's gonna change.
- 3:51SPEAKER_03: It's due to your laundry, you know that.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: I am so glad to hear you say that, Mom.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: Because you know, you know, a guy can only have one mom.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Well, I guess maybe you could have more than one mom, but but you it's a special, even if you have more than one, it's a special thing.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm so glad to hear that that's not gonna change, mom.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: No, Stevie, none of that changes.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: You just you you do what you need to do, but you always come home to mom.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: You know that.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, I and I do, I do.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: That's exactly what I do.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Uh Jeff, I am so excited.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: You know, we've got we've got some great guests.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Uh, you just think about all the great guests we had this year.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: In fact, you know, you know who drove me here?
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: David Ortiz.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: Our Uber guy.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, Uber sacked him after he was on the show while he's driving.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Well, no, he's driving for Lyft now.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: He went over to Lyft.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Well, there you go.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: He's driving for Lyft step ahead of the of the police.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: And he said, Yeah, uh, listen, I'll come back.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: I got a couple trips, but I'll I'll be there.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Dr.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Eh, I think he's going to zoom in from Australia.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Can you believe that, Dr.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Eh, with his COVID cures?
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, he's oh man, this guy, and he's very smart.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, he's very smart.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: So well, and Steve, I think there's this trend with us when I go back and look at the 25 episodes.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: We we seem to be attracted to a lot of professional medical people.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: We do, you know, we do psychiatrists, doctors, and and geneticists at Dr.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Zenia Goldfarb.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: And you know, and you know, Jeff, we're we're we're neighbors.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, our backyard's kind of I can see her backyard from my bed, and and they're doing weird stuff over there again, Jeff.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: We should get her back on the show.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: I don't know what's going on over there.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: I see like flames, and then there are people dancing around, and then they all go inside and 20 minutes later they're back out and do the same thing again.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: I I don't know what this is, you know.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: We should ask I don't know, but I'd sure like to take a look.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I think they're drinking and stuff.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: It's just wow, it's weird.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: It's weird.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: Well, and the other the other thing that I noticed was that there were a lot of love interests, you know, um, on our show, which I think is important because love is you know, it makes the world go round.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: So here we have a perfect example.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: The two loves of your life.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Um, not not counting your wife, yeah.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Um is yeah, okay.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Well, she didn't want to be on the show, you know.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: She never she doesn't like publicity, you know.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: She never likes to snooze you lose.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: That's uh that's her fault.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: But uh but that's exactly it.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: I've got mom who was really the first, you know what I mean?
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: That's true, Stevie.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's true.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: I've known you your whole life, literally my whole life, and then and then Meg, my old school girlfriend.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: So many years, Meg.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: So many years of standing in the line at lunch together.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: Well, it was a crowded school.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: We were, you know, the baby boomer years.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: There were a lot of kids in that school.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: So yeah, it was it was crowded back then.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: It's just well, you're very lucky.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't have that, Steve.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: I yeah, it's ironic.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: I have two fathers and neither of them are here right now.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: But I I you know, I I guess outside of my wife, I don't really have any loves of my life either.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: Uh well, you know, Jeff, I think that I think I think a New Year's resolution for 2023 is we gotta find you one or more.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: We do.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: I think we gotta find you some and and bring them on the show, yeah.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: And and speaking of New Year's and drinking, you know, this is a Christmas party, so let's have some of that punch.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: What do you say?
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, sounds good.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Let's hey, bottoms up, guys.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: You know, I usually don't drink during the show, but hey, you know, it's Christmas, right?
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Anybody want some of my Mogan David?
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: I'll take some.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I'll take some.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't know what that is.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: You gotta cut it with a little vodka.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: It's not so bad when you do that.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: And oh, and mom, speaking of vodka, I put the vodka in with the gin in the punch.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: So I can know you like that blend.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you like that blend a lot.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: No, it classes it up, Stevie.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: It classes it up.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Well, you both have so much class.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: We do, it's uh true, it's really impressive.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: You know, Jeffrey, I was thinking, you know what this comes down to?
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: It was those lunch lines that that Stevie was standing in.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: I bet your folks, if they packed your lunch, it derails you from a young age.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: You know, you don't have to buy this lunch.
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: Yep, it all goes back to the lunch line.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Mom always knows best because that's that's exactly it.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: You know, if I hadn't have stood in line, I never would have met Meg.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Well, and I would have, but you know, then I had that you know, that hygiene issue in grade school and that rash that I you know didn't really hear about it.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: The lactose intolerance, too, I think was probably pretty embarrassing for you because nobody knew what it was back then.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: Nobody knew.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they said pretty much you could hear it though.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Well, you say, Hey, my stomach hurts, and they say, Look, have some milk, right?
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, line line your stomach with milk.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: Line your stomach with milk.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: It's like, oh, it still hurts.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Drink more, you know?
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: Block of cheese, get a block of cheese, maybe have some cream.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: How about some mac and cheese?
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Mix it together.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: Oh, mac and cheese, mom.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, now you're talking.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: That is the best.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: I plug some in over, I put it over, I unplugged the Christmas tree to make sure that we could we could plug it in.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's okay, because you know, we don't need the lights on because it's this is just an audio show, so we we don't need the lights.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no problem.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Now, do you guys have plans?
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Oh well, I was oh do you do you guys have plans for Christmas, upcoming Christmas?
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I'll be headed back to Florida.
- 9:19unknown: Oh really?
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: I wish I was going to Florida.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: When do you go back, Meg?
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Steve, you can come down and stay with me.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Oh, that'd be nice.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: That'd be real nice.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that sounds interesting, Steve.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Meg, when do you go back?
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: I I'm leaving the day after Christmas, probably.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Wow, just to like pack things up and move back up here?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Uh well, I'm not so sure, but we'll have to see.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Oh this sounds like there there may be a communication issue between Steve, you and you and Meg.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Last thing I would have ever suspected.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: And and you know, I I I know we if we had had more time when you were in town to really talk things through, we might have cleared this up.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: But you know, it's I I know you were you were tied up, and then you know, you got exposed to COVID 14 times during your time here, so had to isolate.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: No, but not not literally tied up, Stevie.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: You got to be really careful when you use those places, just like just busy, busy, busy, busy on the oh yeah, yeah, no, not tied up.
- 10:23SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a lot of quarantine, a lot of quarantine, a lot of quarantining, yeah.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: And and so we didn't really get a chance to talk much.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: No, um because you can't even talk on the phone when you're quarantining for COVID.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: You know, that's what I've heard.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: When when Dr.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: Eh phones in, we should we should talk about that because I I've heard that you can get it through the phone.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Can you believe that?
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: You can catch it through the phone.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Wow, and I'm not a I'm not a relationship counselor, but sometimes they say, you know, as your life changes, you sort of split apart, you have less in common.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's time for you guys to revisit where you came from and maybe go on a date to a cafeteria somewhere.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: Oh that yeah, that I thought you I thought they were coming to my house that wasn't prepared to host.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: I've got the plastic on the couch still.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: Oh, but mom, I like that plastic because you know, in the summer when it's really hot, you kind of stick to it.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: I oh, that was I I used I love that plastic.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: Wow, you know, we're put it on just for you, Stevie, mostly because you make a mess.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: And it doesn't smell good after you've been sitting on it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm a messy eater, you know, and and the smell, just you you wipe the plastic, the smell kind of comes off too.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: So it's really it kind of works, you know.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: But and and we got oh, Jeff, we got a lot more to talk about here.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: But Jeff, first, I gotta tell you, we've got a repeat sponsor.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Wonderful.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Who's this?
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: You remember that public access channel that had the show about council bluffs?
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: I do.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: Well, they loved our ads so much that they wanted to run it again, and so I think why don't we uh let's just go to commercial?
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, sounds great.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: If you're in the Omaha Metro and love the nightlife, come on across the Missouri River to experience a Metro nightlife you'll never forget.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: Hello, I'm Denke Street Matter, your host for Council Bluffs After Dark, coming to you every night, all night, on public access cable channel 617.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: Each night we show you the best dives to enjoy the vibrant and heart-challenging nightlife in the jewel of Western Iowa.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: And we bring you the people-making Council Bluffs the magic place it is.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: We have more casinos and strip clubs than any other city in our region.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: We have air that is more than 1% crystal meth.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: Maybe best of all, we have the O Face Bar, a bar rescue reject where you can stagger in and take your chances.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: We'll show you how to make sure you get a clean glass.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: Plus, we answer your burning Council Bluffs questions like Why did the Oregon and California settlers, the Mormons, the Railroads, and Lewis and Clark all dash out of town?
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Or what is that metal junk on that bridge?
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: We'll tell you.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: So blow the mess smell away and join us every night, all night, on Council Bluffs After Dark.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: We may be high crime, but we'll show you a high time.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: I tell you what, Jeff, that just that makes me wanna just go across the river and experience that whole Council Bluffs experience.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: And maybe you need to bring Meg with you, you know.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, I uh I know Florida is sort of the hot spot of the country in many ways, but I think Council Bluffs doesn't take a basket seat to any cities.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: Oh no, and Meg maybe Peoria.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: Meg Meg, you have Peoria.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Well, they yeah, that's that's a special case.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: But uh Meg, Meg, you haven't seen Council Bluffs in all its glory, have you?
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: I I have not.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: No, I oh it starts with with that bridge, which is like there's something on it, no one's really sure what.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: And then and then you go downtown Council Bluffs, which is kind of the urban core of Western Iowa, and it's it's it's beautiful.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: I have a good thought that maybe I need to come visit too.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: There was a part of that commercial, you know, where it said it was the Jew of Western Iowa.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, you know, that appeals to me, you know, on a number of uh levels.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: So Jeffy, check that out.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: I think it would be no.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: I think I I would take offense to there to that, Jeff.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, Jeffrey, think about it.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: They're declaring that they are the Jew of Western Iowa.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: Have they earned that right?
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: Are they have they competed in any type of gladiator battle?
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: Is this something biblical that has occurred?
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: I just feel like maybe they've stolen that crown and do not necessarily deserve it.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: Well, and and you know what, Jeff?
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: They may be the Jew of Western Iowa, but I it's I bet they changed their name from Council Bluffstein.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: What do you think?
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: I I think so.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: I think they did.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: I think they did, and that's that's just not right, you know.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: Do you think that statue is just is just a metal yarmica?
- 15:05SPEAKER_03: Maybe that's it.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: Maybe it's a metal yarmica, or it could be like like the Torah, you know, the the those poles that go through the Torah, you know?
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and those and those metal yarmicas, those are not cheap.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Oh no, you know, they're made of real metal, and so you gotta kind of give them some credit for trying.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: I remember reading uh was it the Carol Burnett show with the gone with the wind skin where she wore the drapes?
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Um, there's a museum in western Illinois that actually has those drapes, and I've always wanted to visit that, so maybe I could drive to you know western Illinois and then continue to keep the iron yarmica.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, which are the drapes made of metal?
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm not following.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not either.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: Is it like a steel curtain?
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: Well, it's a steel curtain rod, yeah.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: It's it's kind of the same.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: And you know, you know though, you can those metal yarmicas.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: You if you get the Chinese-made ones, they're a little less, you know.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: It's uh it doesn't have to be expensive, you know.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Jeff, they might not allow you in the the Jew of Western Iowa because if you came there would be two Jews, they wouldn't get to be the Jew.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Wow, plus I'm still lactose intolerant.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: So you know, two I too Jews walked into Iowa.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: Walked into Iowa, right?
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know that joke.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's hilarious.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, probably not something you can say nowadays, you know.
- 16:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's so true.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: Thanks, Steve.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: We're gonna have to say it in the past.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Yes, you know that's the good thing, Steve.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: You're able to do that.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: Of course, I'm I'm from the future, so I can do this.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: I'll go back in time and say it, and it'll be funny.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: I'll get a lot of laughs.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: It'll be.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: Well, and speaking that's a good call, Stevie.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: Good call.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: You know, speaking of speaking of laughs, I got a note.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: I don't think you remember uh Carol Bingbok, the game designer that was on the work game designer.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: You know, she'd send me a note, said, you know, hey, I I don't think I can make your Christmas party.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: I got exposed to COVID and I need the quarantine.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: Where I've heard that before, but I digress.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Uh well, well, and my dad, I don't know if you know, but my dad has been ex has exposed himself before to COVID.
- 17:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but that was the schoolyard.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: That doesn't, that's not the same thing.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it doesn't probably not the same thing.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: But then, but then she says on here, she says on here that she is just about finished with the home version of the Steve and Jeff Experience podcast.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: She's designing a board game about this podcast.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: God, we are so big time now.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Hey, you know, that MMA guy doesn't have uh he doesn't have a board game, does he?
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: He doesn't have a home version of his podcast, does he?
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: And he doesn't have a mag.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: He doesn't have a mag.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: I you know, he doesn't have his mom on the show.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, he doesn't bring his mom on the show.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: I don't have my dad either, but you know, yeah.
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: But wait, so is your is is your father gonna is he gonna be one of the character like the the pieces you can choose when you play the board game?
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: He's gonna be I think his dad is gonna be that piece that you always lose, you know, you always lose one piece out of the game, and I think that's that's the one, yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: That's a good point, Stevie.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Those board games tend to have you know, when you throw doubles, you end up in jail.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: I think that my dad probably is.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: He throws a lot of doubles, yeah.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: He throws a lot of doubles, a lot of doubles, yeah.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: He's been a very unlucky man in his life.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Uh a lot of doubles.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: You know, I thought you threw doubles to get out of jail.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, I I may be sad about that, but yeah, it could be, but he's not here.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Well, and and you know, I don't I I think he's coming, but you know, mom, I I I gotta ask, how's the how's the pregnancy going?
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: You know, I don't want to talk about it.
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: Oh you know, Jeff, Jeffrey, I'm not sure if you're aware, but your your father is not very helpful at all.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, I would apologize for him if he was here, but he's not, so I'm not going to because you know, he never seems he never seems to be where he's supposed to be, except maybe the night that you got pregnant.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: That's probably the last time.
- 19:16SPEAKER_03: I don't know that he was where he was supposed to be.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: Uh no, I the last when we right before we talked last.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: Remember, I had he he dropped me off in the parking lot, but he couldn't come inside because we were at the the what's the game place.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, the yeah, Dave Buster's with all the kids, with all the little kids.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: That wasn't a bad idea.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: It's really unfortunate because he'd make he's a great father, but you know, he's got that legal issue.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: So he's I guess you know, he's really good with kids, you know, normally.
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: But uh yeah, right.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Maybe he's not great with kids, but yeah, kids, kids meet when I say kids, I mean like adults.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you mean like people 40 and under.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: Well, maybe a little older, yeah.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: Well, I if he's not here physically, Jeff, I I'm sure he's here in spirit because you know the Christmas season really affects everyone, even even felons, even street criminals, like like your dad.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: You know, even even they are affected by the Christmas spirit.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: And I know that he's thinking somewhere like, gosh, I wish I was in eccentric Ladyland Studios on that Christmas show with that at that party with my new son.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: My faux son.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Your faux son.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: My faux son.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Maybe in faux imprison.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: I think that's exactly where I think there's a song about that.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I think he's just got stuck in the checkout lane from buying your gift for Christmas.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, Meg, you have such a good heart.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: You're you I I really respect you for you.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: You're such an optimist.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: I think we both know where he is, and you know he's not a pretty picture.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: It's it's gonna be like the gift of the magi, you know, like that that oh Henry story, you know.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: He's you got him, you got him uh keys to his handcuffs, but he's out of jail, and he got you a comb for your hair that you had when we started this podcast, and that you don't have now.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: See, that's right.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: See, and that that's how that's how this is gonna work, see, and he'll he'll be here.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Well, I can't wait.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: And uh I I literally I don't think we can wait too long.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: Well, they will kick us out of here at some point.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: And you know what's really amazing is as much as my dad has fault, my faux dad has faults, still such a better man than my real dad.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: It's really kind of kind of interesting.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: I I need to see I guess some counseling about that because it's uh well well, don't go to Dr.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: Down the Field, she hates me, and I'm pretty sure she hates you too.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: I she she she is not gonna come tonight, I don't think.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: But I invited her, you know, in the spirit of Christmas.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: I invited her, and in the spirit of Christmas, she told me to go.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: Well, I won't I don't think I could say it on the podcast because we do have a few children that.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: To listen.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: But uh she said she's so she's probably not gonna come.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: But I did want to invite her though.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Maybe you know, there are our Christmas miracles, Steve, and maybe uh Dr.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: Fields will eventually want to see us again.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: Maybe when she's broke and she needs to desperately need uh more clients, uh or if she gets tired of hearing all the same stuff, because we would always, yeah.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: The one thing I really prided myself on is I was I would tell her stuff no other patient would.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: I I mean I'd make stuff up.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: I just I just tell her interesting stuff and just you know, and she's wow, I've never heard that before.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: I every session she say, no one's ever said that before.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: It's like, whoa, hey, that's so creative.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: She'll miss that.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: She'll miss that.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: And you know, Meg, you'll miss that in Florida too, I'm pretty sure.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: I always knew you were a good storyteller, Steve.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: I remember from Mrs.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Crosby's class, you were always a good storyteller.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, Mrs.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Crosby.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Oh man, I told a story in her class one time.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: She came from behind, she hit me with one of those spelling books, you know, those thick, they were little, but they were like uh they were about as thick as a shoe or something, you know, just boom, right in the back of the head.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: Man, I wonder where that would pass out.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: You know, we we might want to try to get in touch with her and maybe bring her on the show.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Meg, maybe we could surprise her and the two of you can have her back on the show and uh, you know, let's figure out you know what she's been doing with her life.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: I think that would be interesting.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: It would Stevie Stevie, you you get these address fields, lady.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: I I feel like they these people need some packages left on their front step, and I don't think it's a package they would want to open.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: No, it's one that they would have to stomp out because I'd light it first, right?
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: You and me both, Stevie.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: You and me both.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, you taught me right, mom.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: You I learned everything from mom.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: I learned how to how to be a good person, how to really give gifts, how to be like a podcaster.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: And I don't know how you knew that, mom, because there were no podcasters when I was a kid, but but she taught me how to do it.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: We were always ahead of our time, Stevie.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: Always, you know, maybe, mom, since I'm from the future, maybe you're from the future too.
- 24:08SPEAKER_03: Don't overthink it, Stevie.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: Don't overthink it.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: That's I, you know, I get headaches when I overthink it.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: I get uh because I I think it's lack being lactose intolerant.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: I get uh yes.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: Well, I've got you know, I I brought some milk.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: You can uh have some punch and milk if you want to.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: I have some mac and cheese.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: There's mac and cheese in the crock pot, Stevie.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: Jeffrey, you have some of that.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: Oh man, terrific.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, and you know her mac and cheese is the best, the best.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Oh man, it is yeah, it's one of these things.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: I I love it for the first you know, 15 minutes.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Mac and cheese and vodka and gin punch goes so well together.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just like the holidays.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: That's that you know, to me, that just spells out Christmas.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: You know, you get your mac and cheese, you get your gin and vodka punch, and you and you get some milk, you know.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: Some stomach pains.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: What else do you want?
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Maybe a cookie?
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: What else do you want?
- 25:03SPEAKER_03: You know, well, you don't get greedy, Stevie.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: Don't get greedy.
- 25:07SPEAKER_02: Oh no, no.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: I I am happy with all that, and I am so happy that you joined us here for our show, mom and Meg.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: And and Meg, I I I know you're probably going back to Florida, and this might be the end of what could have been, but maybe maybe we can stay in touch.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: I don't know, you know.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe in the future, Steve, since you're from the future.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: Gosh, as soon as we're out of the studio, I'm gonna go into the future.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna see, I'm gonna find out.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: But uh, gosh, and speaking of which, they are gonna kick us out of the studio here.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: I I can see that engineer, you know, I never liked that guy, but it's like he's coming over here now.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: He's like, hey, they're sure that's not my dad, is it?
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: No, well, it looks like your dad, but it's not.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: But uh listen, thanks everybody, and we'll be back.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, New Year.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: And we will be back with a new show next time.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Next time.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: Talk to you guys later.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, take care.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: Have fun and mom, let's go get some of that mac and cheese.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna have another drink.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: I don't know about you.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: I gotta go.
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, I need some punch.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we need some punch.
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: Be safe, Jeffrey.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: Be safe in there.
- 26:16SPEAKER_03: Happy holidays.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Happy holidays.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Bye.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: Well, I guess the rest of the guests are on their way still.
