- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:11Welcome to the Least Scary Movie, The podcaster.
- 0:14We talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd, and all
- 0:17of our favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this fan
- 0:22base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:23My name is Travis. My name is Jesse and welcome
- 0:25back to our monthly bonus series.
- 0:28We are alive, uncut, and mostly undrawn.
- 0:31That's right, we are going into the free streaming series to
- 0:35find out what movies we might have missed out on.
- 0:38This is to be or not to be. So that means that we're
- 0:43skipping all of the normal stuff at the beginning of the episode
- 0:45and we're getting straight in. It was my turn to pick this
- 0:47week, this month. We only do this once a month,
- 0:50but we also did it this week so. You're you're right in both of
- 0:54those. So I chose Watchers.
- 0:57Yeah. And I chose Watchers because I
- 1:00absolutely adore the book and we were talking about it a couple
- 1:05weekends ago because we saw a primate and the way I describe
- 1:07primate was Cujo but with monkeys meets a little bit of
- 1:11watchers. Yeah, I can definitely see it.
- 1:14And I did not know they made a movie of the book.
- 1:17And I guess in my head I just assumed that if there had been a
- 1:20movie about like made from inspired by Watchers, I would
- 1:24have known, but I never actually looked it up.
- 1:26It's just called Watchers. And it's just called Watchers.
- 1:29Yeah, it's on TV. So did you go searching for this
- 1:31on Toby or did it just pop up it?
- 1:33Just popped up. I was, I was looking around to
- 1:36see if there was anything new that I might be interested in or
- 1:38if I needed to go to our saved movies.
- 1:41And then that popped up and I was like.
- 1:43Well, it's a new movie. It just got added itself.
- 1:45Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:46So we'll go ahead and we'll talk about it.
- 1:49I've got a little bit of background information and then
- 1:52I'll share. Well, Are you sure why I picked
- 1:53it? Oh, I should clarify, it's not a
- 1:55new movie and it's from the 80s. Yeah, it's new on to be.
- 1:58Yeah. And yeah, Jesse actually picked
- 2:00that 80s movie for To Be on To Be.
- 2:02I can't believe it. You're so excited.
- 2:03I was proud of you. You know how 80s it was?
- 2:05You all don't say that. OK, that was weird.
- 2:09Yeah, sorry. Proud husband moment.
- 2:12I'm uncomfortable, all right? This is a live episode, so we
- 2:17can't have those awkward moments going girl like that.
- 2:22We got to go. OK, what?
- 2:24Were you saying? What were you about to say?
- 2:26I'm going to go over the some of the information about this movie
- 2:29and then I'll talk a little bit about why I love the book so
- 2:32much. So that way you can understand
- 2:33why I'm kind of disappointed in some of the things about the
- 2:35movie, but I understand some of the changes they made too.
- 2:39Yeah, I can understand that, having watched Christine after
- 2:43reading Christine for the first time.
- 2:45You get it. Yeah, no, I get it.
- 2:47I was, you know, good movie like John Carpenter.
- 2:49Yeah, like it's awesome. But at the same time, why are
- 2:52the changes from the book? I wanted to see Christine
- 2:54demolish a house. Yeah, kill a man.
- 2:57I know, me too, we were denied. I wanted to see the pink garbage
- 3:00truck. There's one more thing for me to
- 3:02fight John Carpenter about. Man, Travis is like, because it
- 3:06seems that Scarfest is doing a Christine reunion and he's
- 3:10holding his breath. And John Carpenter might be
- 3:12here. He's local.
- 3:13They got Christine the car and they got the bully buddy in like
- 3:17on the lineup so far. So I'm I'm open.
- 3:19So if we have John Carpenter the VIP party, I'm going to buy him
- 3:25a whiskey and say please fight my husband.
- 3:27He needs to be. He needs to learn a thing or.
- 3:29Two no, we got to make it a whole thing.
- 3:31It's going to be one of the celebrity boxing matches.
- 3:34So like, he's the celebrity and I'm just like, who the fuck is
- 3:36that guy? Yeah.
- 3:37Why is this guy, this 30 year old fighting John Carpenter who
- 3:41is like almost 90 probably he's in the 70s Never mind.
- 3:45We literally talked about this the other day because you're
- 3:47like, he's old and I was like. He's you're right, okay.
- 3:51OK, anyway, watchers released December 2nd, 1988.
- 3:55We watched it on Tubi. You can also watch it on Primer
- 3:58Plex, and you can rent it from Fandango at home.
- 4:01Written by Bill Freed and Damian Lee.
- 4:03Based on the novel by Dean koontz, Directed by John Hess,
- 4:06music by Joel Goldsmith and special effects makeup by Lisa
- 4:09Rocco. Starring Michael Ironside as
- 4:12Agent Lem, Lala Slopeman as Tracy, Corey Haim as Travis,
- 4:17Blue Mikuma as Cliff, Barbara Williams as Philip Wong as the
- 4:22Oxcom, and Sandy the dog is Fur Face.
- 4:27Cool yay we thought Lala was the dog because when in the opening
- 4:30credits it just says a Lala like that's that's how you normally
- 4:33is she. Was in a one name era of her
- 4:36career. OK, well, that's just that's how
- 4:38you normally credit dogs or animals and movies.
- 4:40Yeah, we were like, is Lala the dog?
- 4:42Because we hear the dog deserves credit at the beginning of the
- 4:45movie is apparently they disagreed.
- 4:47That's also a dog name. Lala, Yeah.
- 4:49Yeah, and a Teletubby. Oh my God.
- 4:52Yeah. Is that the yellow one?
- 4:53Yeah. I don't know.
- 4:55Whatever. I.
- 4:56Think Lala's the purple one, maybe No Tinky Winky's the
- 4:59purple one. Tinky Winky.
- 5:01Tipsy's the green one. PO is the red.
- 5:03Yeah. So I guess Lala would be yellow.
- 5:04Yeah. OK, cool.
- 5:07I'm glad we all know that. I know it's time for our
- 5:11favorite game on the show. Budget or bug, Ted?
- 5:16Yeah, this is a bug, Ted. Yeah, I'd actually don't have
- 5:19budget information on it. No, it did make $260,000 on its
- 5:23opening weekend and a worldwide gross of 940,000.
- 5:27So we are sub million gross. Well, this one probably made its
- 5:30money back with the home video. It it seems to be decently well
- 5:35received. 5.4 out of 10. That's solid.
- 5:40Yeah. And I, it pulled my 2 reviews.
- 5:45Just a spoiler for the end of this.
- 5:46One of them is by somebody who read the book and loved it.
- 5:49And one of them is by somebody who didn't read the book and
- 5:51understands that's probably why they loved the movie.
- 5:54Oh, interesting. So I thought those would be good
- 5:56perspective. Yeah, that, that.
- 5:57That's. Some fun.
- 5:59OK, I pulled a theme from 1988 and you know what was happening
- 6:03in 1988? What We really just kept doing
- 6:07things to make things harder for ourselves.
- 6:09OK, that sounds about right. Yeah.
- 6:11So since this is about, like, super soldier animals, you know,
- 6:15And then we played God, and then they got out and wreaked havoc.
- 6:19So, like, let's look at some other movies where people made
- 6:22mistakes that they thought would help them out, but it actually
- 6:25made their life harder. And we're going to start with
- 6:27none other than Charles Lee Ray in Child's Play.
- 6:30Oh man. Cuz he put himself into that
- 6:32doll's body and then how many sequels and ATV show of him
- 6:35trying to, you know, worse that. But he eventually came out on
- 6:40the other end. He's like, you know what?
- 6:41I'm a doll. Yeah, maybe he was a doll
- 6:44always. And then he finally like that
- 6:46was his journey to find his way to being a doll.
- 6:48The real dolls are the friends we found along the way.
- 6:51That's what that series is all about.
- 6:53Really it is OK So Child's Play. Released November 9th, 1988.
- 6:59Budget of 9 million. Worldwide gross of 44 million.
- 7:02IMDb scores 6.7 out of 10. Love that movie.
- 7:06Well, you love all three of these movies.
- 7:08But oh great. Cool, what's the next 1 then?
- 7:10Hellbound Hellraiser too, yeah. Love that movie.
- 7:15That released December 23rd, 1988.
- 7:18A budget of 3,000,000 GBP and I got a worldwide gross of $12
- 7:23million made over IMDb it. Was made over in England and
- 7:30then released in the States. Either way, it has a 6.4 out of
- 7:3510. 6.4 Hell yeah Yeah, that's a great movie.
- 7:38I love it. And a third movie, oh, by the
- 7:41way, held down the reason that was like making things harder
- 7:43than for themselves. That doctor, you know, was
- 7:45trying to collect the the configurations.
- 7:49He wanted to call it forth. And then he was like, oh shit,
- 7:51this is actually really bad. Well, he's like, hey, like,
- 7:53let's get this patient that she's really good with puzzles,
- 7:57even though this puzzle solves itself for everybody.
- 8:00Yeah. Yeah, and the third movie,
- 8:03Pumpkinhead, in his grief, he called for Pumpkinhead, but, you
- 8:07know, it just actually caused a lot of problems.
- 8:10Yeah, it turned him into a demon.
- 8:12Yep, so that Released October 14th, 1988.
- 8:19Budget of 3.5 million worldwide gross of 4.3 million.
- 8:23INDB score 6.2 out of 10. Nice.
- 8:26I like these. These are all really fun movies,
- 8:28Yes. Yeah. 88 was a good year for
- 8:29movies, man. It was and we we own all of
- 8:31these movies. Yeah, we do, don't we?
- 8:33Yeah, awesome. We've got don't we have Child's
- 8:37Play signed? We have Child's Play and Frank
- 8:40and Play signed, don't we? Did we do the first one?
- 8:42We might have done Child's play. Too true.
- 8:43I can't remember because we had Kyle there also.
- 8:47OK, well, before we go on to our thoughts, because we don't do
- 8:51fun facts, Yeah, I do have two tag lines.
- 8:55OK, first one, it started as an experiment.
- 8:58It ended as a new breed of terror.
- 9:02That's good. I like that that.
- 9:03Was actually really solid. Secret experiment.
- 9:07Unstoppable monster. Deadly mistake.
- 9:11I like that too. Yeah.
- 9:12They're those are two really solid tag lines, Yeah.
- 9:16So have you, you already kind of have explained why you picked
- 9:19it, right? Yes.
- 9:20OK, yes, just because I love the book and I didn't know there was
- 9:23a movie. Right.
- 9:24OK, that's what that. That's why I picked it.
- 9:26I do want to go ahead before we go into our good, bad, ugly and
- 9:30absurd, and I want to tell you some of the main things that are
- 9:34different and why I think they might be different.
- 9:36OK so in the book Travis is a full adult and he's kind of a
- 9:41loner and Nora is a woman he needs and becomes his love
- 9:44interest. So Nora is his mom in this?
- 9:47Yes. Whoa, it's a weird change.
- 9:49OK, I agree that's weird. I think part of the reason that
- 9:52they aged him down was 1 so that way they could get someone like
- 9:56Corey Haim for the star power. But I also think it's because as
- 10:02emotionally intelligent as the character is for a teenager in
- 10:05this movie, he does interact with the dog in a different way
- 10:10than Travis the adult in the book does.
- 10:12How so? Because Travis in the book like
- 10:15has he's got more independence, he's got more resources.
- 10:19He was actually the one that was in the Delta Force, not his dad.
- 10:22So he's a, he's an ex soldier veteran and he does things like
- 10:29he sets up this whole system where the dog who he calls
- 10:34Einstein, yeah, can spell things out with Scrabble tiles.
- 10:39So I like that. We got a nice little nod to that
- 10:41with them playing Scrabble with each.
- 10:43Other so that was like a more like it was more present in the
- 10:46book. It was.
- 10:47It happened more often. We see a lot more things like
- 10:50that and I think they had to kind of age it down so that way
- 10:53it's more on a high school level.
- 10:55So that way, as well trained as Sandy the dog, dog is, they
- 10:58would have had a much harder time showing Einstein doing all
- 11:02of the things that he does in the book.
- 11:04Yeah, they did a great job with what they had here because the
- 11:07dog does a really great job. So I I that would be my
- 11:12assumption as to like the two main reasons they aged it down.
- 11:16I also, the dog does live in the book.
- 11:19I already told you that last night.
- 11:20I was like, I want to pick this. It was a dead dog movie.
- 11:23Yeah, Yeah. But the the creature that's
- 11:26following it, it is, you know, still a government experiment.
- 11:29They are still linked like that. It is like coming for him.
- 11:32It's called the outsider though. And instead of having NSO agents
- 11:35following him, it is a person who is hired by the Soviets who
- 11:39want nobody who knows how the outsider and the dog, like,
- 11:43doesn't want to know how to control them.
- 11:45So that way the creatures can wreak as much havoc as possible
- 11:49because that would be good for the Soviets for everything to be
- 11:52destabilized. But the mercenary that they've
- 11:54hired is also going to try and capture the dog and sell it to a
- 11:58third party for his own financial gain.
- 12:00So yes, I do like that they still made Michael Ironsign a
- 12:05real shitheel at the end of this.
- 12:07I'm just, I mean, he got Michael Ironsign.
- 12:09So yeah, it's because it's not. It's Lem is a new character in
- 12:15the movie, but he kind of serves that same purpose.
- 12:20And then one final thing that just, it sticks with me so much.
- 12:24So they teach Einstein idioms, and whether ones they teach him
- 12:27is like, soon you'll be fiddle as a fiddle 'cause there was a
- 12:29moment where they had to like, help him heal and get better.
- 12:33Except part of the problem was he's like being destabilized
- 12:35with the outsider. I think it's been a while since
- 12:37I've read it, but it's something like that.
- 12:40So they had taught him the phrase fit as a fiddle, and when
- 12:42he wasn't doing so good, towards the climax of the book, he
- 12:47spelled out with the Scrabble tiles fiddle out of tune.
- 12:51I know he's kind of an equally sad message with Scrabble in the
- 12:57movie too. Yeah.
- 12:59Yeah, poor man. Yeah, so I just, the book is
- 13:03really great. We own it so you can read it
- 13:05anytime you want. It's really good.
- 13:08I like the movie a lot. Yeah, so I thought the movie,
- 13:11like, again, it's probably one of those things that it's a good
- 13:14thing I haven't read it recently because I could, like, turn my
- 13:17brain off a little bit more. Yeah, I think what really
- 13:20bothered me the most was calling Einstein for your Face because
- 13:23like. I get where Einstein comes from,
- 13:27but fur face is also what you call a dog.
- 13:29Yeah, that's what he was calling the dog before he knew he was
- 13:31smart. So I was like, all right, fur
- 13:32face and it just kind of sticks. Yeah, I don't mean, I guess I
- 13:36can't say too much because we call Italia puppy all the time.
- 13:38Yeah, it's like with Cordelia. She was named Kitty Cat and then
- 13:42Kitty Cat. Because.
- 13:43Yeah, yeah. So I completely get it, Yeah.
- 13:47So that's a little bit out of the background about the book,
- 13:51OK, but. That's good to know.
- 13:52Now we're. Gonna talk about the movie all.
- 13:54Right, let's talk about the movie.
- 13:55And what did you think was good about this movie?
- 13:57So first of all, I fucking love the dog in this movie.
- 14:02Like again, like the good boy movie that came out this past
- 14:06year. This dog deserves credit for
- 14:08doing what it did because holy shit like it.
- 14:10Were they such a good girl? Yeah, it did a great job in this
- 14:13movie. Like I I just love the dog as a
- 14:16character too. Like how they're.
- 14:19A little bit wrong to continuously refer to her as a
- 14:21golden retriever though, because that dog is brown.
- 14:24Yeah, I look, I don't know like dog breeds well enough to be
- 14:27able to like call bullshit when people call us like, you know,
- 14:30the. Golden part of the golden
- 14:31retriever refers to it. Oh, yeah, I figured.
- 14:34But you know, like I, I don't know, like maybe maybe it's like
- 14:39a really golden, like brown golden type.
- 14:41Yeah, I guess I'm not. My color blind ass isn't 1 to
- 14:43talk. But yeah, but either way, like I
- 14:46I like the dog as a character too.
- 14:48I like how they interacted Travis and fur face.
- 14:52It was it was a really good dynamic.
- 14:54I think having him H down a little bit, being like high
- 14:56school and having that dog there because like that's like a
- 15:00that's a bond that is very tight and like around that age right
- 15:04there. Whenever you have something like
- 15:05that, like that's one that like lasts forever.
- 15:07Yeah. So like I I just really enjoyed
- 15:10that. And I really like the cast of
- 15:12this movie too. Corey Ames solid and just about
- 15:14everything he's in. He does a great job in this.
- 15:16And Michael Ironside always is a fucking asshole in every movie,
- 15:20but he's so good at it. Yes, that's that's what I'm
- 15:22saying. You can't cast him in this role
- 15:24and not have him be a complete shitheel buddy.
- 15:26Yeah, like every movie I've ever seen with him, He is.
- 15:30He's an asshole. Like Prom Night Three, he killed
- 15:32us like a person. Like, I know it's a horror
- 15:35movie, but like, he did it in high school and he was the
- 15:38reason why Mary Lou had all that shit.
- 15:40Yeah. And two, yeah.
- 15:41He said 3. Oh, did I say 30?
- 15:43Sorry. Two.
- 15:43Yeah, 3 was the other weird one that we don't talk about as
- 15:47much. We.
- 15:48Talked about it quite a bit actually.
- 15:50We did, but that's a, that's probably the last that'll
- 15:53happen. And then, yeah, scanners.
- 15:57All I can think of anytime I see him is like an exploding head.
- 16:00Yeah, but. Yeah, but yeah, like I liked it.
- 16:03I liked the story overall. I liked the monster like as I
- 16:08like the kills that they did. Like I like the especially that
- 16:11scene with the cops going to the school and finding all the
- 16:13bodies and then the the monster just like attacks the cops and
- 16:17like pushes Piper I think was the female cop into the yeah
- 16:22electric box. Yeah, she gets the Friday the
- 16:2513th chill. Yeah, yeah, like just like fried
- 16:28to death and like, I don't know, like it was some pretty vicious
- 16:30stuff and I could tell that they were on a budget with what they
- 16:33were doing because a lot of it like there was some like non
- 16:37show Porter. OK, like they they didn't show
- 16:41everything, but the parts that I did see look really good.
- 16:43So yeah, I just had a fun time with it.
- 16:46You know, it was a good, it was a good trip.
- 16:48Yeah, they definitely, for a movie that felt like it was kind
- 16:52of teetering on the edge of like ratings and cuts and everything,
- 16:58I think it did a really good job because the book is pretty
- 17:00graphic about some of the stuff that happened.
- 17:02Well, my my theory is much it's why.
- 17:05Some of this was. The way it is, that's why I
- 17:07guess Bug had to begin with because of how they handled the
- 17:10monster and the killing. That could make sense too.
- 17:12Yeah, I think that it took some. It feels like a loose adaptation
- 17:20of Watchers. Like you've got kind of the the
- 17:23main themes, you know, you've got the dog and the this other
- 17:28creature and they're linked that way and.
- 17:30That's a really cool idea too. I like that idea.
- 17:32Yeah. And, and I think they, like,
- 17:34told their own story with it. And I don't know, I like, I had
- 17:39an OK time watching the movie. I think it was still pretty
- 17:41enjoyable. I was looking for things that I
- 17:43remembered from the book, and that didn't happen.
- 17:45But I think if I watch this again, I'd be OK just like
- 17:47turning my brain off and watching it.
- 17:49Yeah, OK. Like you said, the dog.
- 17:51The dog is great. I like that they did that
- 17:54Scrabble game and they were arguing over using an
- 17:56abbreviation. I grabbed the dictionary.
- 17:59He grabbed the dictionary and he was just like what?
- 18:02And like the face that he makes when he goes to get the hot dogs
- 18:06out of the fridge. And it's like you said, I could
- 18:08have one. You said it.
- 18:09You got to give me one because Talia has given us that exact
- 18:12same look before, like you promised.
- 18:14Talia was super jealous of this dog, by the way.
- 18:17Yeah, yeah, she was. She was not happy.
- 18:20Like she was sitting there the whole time and she, like, her
- 18:23eyes were wide, but she was looking down at the ground and
- 18:26it's like the face somebody has and they're like eavesdropping
- 18:29on a conversation and not hearing super flattering things
- 18:32about themselves. We assured her she was the best
- 18:34puppy so it's not like we were telling her that this dog was
- 18:37better doesn't her or anything. She's better than this stock.
- 18:39Yeah, she just, she just has some jealousy issues and we were
- 18:42joking. It's a good thing.
- 18:43But this is a 2V episode and she didn't have to give a rating.
- 18:46Yeah, but Scout will. Yeah, Scout will.
- 18:48Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 18:51So what did you think was bad? So I guess like a part of that
- 18:55is also like on the other side of it with the creature, we
- 19:01barely see it and when we do see it, it is kind of rough look and
- 19:04I understand why they had to hide it.
- 19:05For the most part, it kind of looks like Donkey Kong.
- 19:09I feel like it kind of looks like Oz Green Oz.
- 19:12Oz in I know Where I know where you like the werewolf.
- 19:16Yes. Of Oz Yeah.
- 19:18Green cheeses. No, I think, and this is like
- 19:22kind of a testament to how bad I think it looks in here.
- 19:24I think Buffy beats the. I think the Buffy werewolf beats
- 19:29the monster in this. Yeah, but you see it more and
- 19:34like it's when you see the, the monster in this, it's kind of
- 19:38cartoonish whenever you finally start to see it.
- 19:40Like I, I get why they hit it because they didn't want to.
- 19:44It was definitely way more effective whenever we were
- 19:46seeing like the arm reach in and grab things and shit like that.
- 19:51But like, I'm, I'm not going to lie, when I was watching the
- 19:54movie and we were like, like already almost at the end of it,
- 19:57I was like, why have we not seen this thing yet?
- 19:59Like I I want to at least see what this thing is.
- 20:02Yeah, yeah. So it was a little disappointing
- 20:04not having all of the kills on screen because of that 'cause we
- 20:08have some off screen deaths like the kids and the, the mountains
- 20:11that were biking around and yeah, it's like a few random
- 20:14ones. Fuck, God, I can't remember his
- 20:17name. The, the fucking guy that's
- 20:20fixing her appliances. Hockney.
- 20:22Hockney. Yeah, he gets his head ripped
- 20:24off and we don't see that Like, come on, you're going to deny us
- 20:27a decapitation like that. And that guy was kind of like,
- 20:30like he was a good, like fodder, you know what I mean?
- 20:33Like he would be a fun one to watch.
- 20:35Have his head ripped. Off yeah, him and the kids are
- 20:37both characters that had connections to our main
- 20:39characters and it would have been nice to kind of.
- 20:42Yeah. And follow those a little bit
- 20:44more. He didn't like I had budgets.
- 20:45Must have made that unlikely to happen because, I mean, we got
- 20:50the end results, which looked good, but I would have liked to
- 20:52have seen what happened. Yeah, but that's really mostly
- 20:56my bad. Yeah, I think my bad is mostly
- 20:59just besides those things that I was really craving from the
- 21:04book. I also I mean the blood is
- 21:09bright red paint. Yeah, it is.
- 21:10Bright red spatter paint and some blood.
- 21:13Is that shade? Yes, but you're going to have
- 21:16both types of blood if you behead somebody.
- 21:18So you're gonna have the bright red blood and the dark venous
- 21:20blood. Yeah, yeah, it is like that.
- 21:24So. And that's my.
- 21:26It's not that Argento boy, at least like Dario Argento has
- 21:30like he does. It almost feels stylized.
- 21:33It is when. He does it.
- 21:34I'm pretty sure it is stylized. It's like, no, I take that back
- 21:37because in dark, what is it? Deep red.
- 21:41No, the new one he made. Oh, dark glasses.
- 21:44Dark glasses. OK, I was going to say dark
- 21:46glasses and I was like, is that right?
- 21:48He did slightly better blood so maybe it's not his stuff, I
- 21:53don't know. Whatever.
- 21:54Anyway, ugly. Well, do I have to say like I
- 21:58the dog going through such troubles, especially the scene
- 22:04where the dog jumps from the second story and injuries
- 22:06itself. Yeah.
- 22:08Like hearing the dog whimper and being taken to the vet.
- 22:12Oh my God, it killed me. Yeah, that one was that was
- 22:15rough, Rough like because he was jumping out and he got caught as
- 22:21he was jumping out and it was sad.
- 22:23Yeah, like I I anytime you put dog whimpers into a movie or a
- 22:29show or anything like that, it just automatically is a bummer.
- 22:33It brings me down no matter what I'm watching.
- 22:36Like I don't want to listen to it.
- 22:37It like it it triggers something primal in me.
- 22:39It does. Yeah.
- 22:40Same here. I just.
- 22:41It's hard. What about you?
- 22:44Oh yeah, that's the same, obviously.
- 22:46Yeah. And also like, I don't know, we
- 22:49end the movie and they're like, hey, fur face is live like.
- 22:55Well fur face is going to be OK. Fur face, they they get them
- 22:58help, surely? I don't know we.
- 23:01How does it in the book? I don't remember exactly, I know
- 23:04that Einstein lives, but that we get slightly more closure than
- 23:09that. OK.
- 23:09I was going to say like that's the same.
- 23:11The fiddle gets retuned OK, OK, but.
- 23:16It takes a beating there at the end.
- 23:17But also like we've been through the whole oh God, urgent and go
- 23:22to the vet kind of thing, and that is emotionally fraught.
- 23:27And so you get the all clear. So yeah, we know that it wasn't.
- 23:34No, I like, in reality, yeah. In reality, I would have been
- 23:38panicked and, like, driving straight to the boat.
- 23:40But like, you know, I I think the dog seems stable mostly.
- 23:45Like, I I think it was OK. That's what I choose to believe.
- 23:48That's what the movie made us like, LED us to believe in the
- 23:50end. OK, OK.
- 23:53Absurd. Fucking Travis gives the dog
- 23:58chocolate so many times. That's why the dog needs to be
- 24:02going to the vet, because he keeps feeding it poison.
- 24:05But it's not old dog, it's like. It's a genetically modified dog.
- 24:10Genetically modified? Yeah.
- 24:11They took an actual dog, like a real dog, and then they just,
- 24:14like, made alterations to it. That doesn't mean that it
- 24:16doesn't like. It had gene.
- 24:18It had human genes in it too. Yeah, but like how much of that
- 24:24I think? It.
- 24:26I'm still standing by the fact that Travis gave it chocolate in
- 24:29the 1st place because he didn't know that whenever he was
- 24:31feeding it chocolate. That's true.
- 24:34That's just bad. Bad, bad, bad.
- 24:36That's poison people. Don't ever do that to your dogs.
- 24:39That's true. Yeah, what's yours?
- 24:42My absurd, I guess, is man. Can't think of 1.
- 24:55Absurd. I'm trying to think I'm sorry.
- 24:58Like I, I had all of my thoughts lined up with Final Destination
- 25:02after this. Subscription in my.
- 25:03Head I think, I think probably part of the absurd is the local
- 25:08cops. I I mean, they're fun.
- 25:11Their banter back and forth is fun, but they're terrible at
- 25:14their jobs. Like a very goosey.
- 25:21He. He.
- 25:22He almost looks like he gave me Gary Busey vibes.
- 25:25I was like Jesse. Like why like we?
- 25:27This guy reminds me of Gary Busey.
- 25:29Reunite Corey Haim and Gary Busey.
- 25:31Yeah, Super Bowl. We just need that wheelchair in
- 25:34here too. Yeah, I think no, like, cuz you
- 25:37know, Porter gets that call from the maintenance man at the high
- 25:40school and she's like, oh, he was screaming and the sheriff
- 25:43was like what? And she's like, well, who call
- 25:46back if it's? Important.
- 25:47I know. I like I like the look that gave
- 25:50me black Christmas vibes whenever the John Saxon's
- 25:55character's like. So you don't think that we
- 25:57should be checking out the house where the sister is missing and
- 26:00they're getting a bunch of harassing phone calls?
- 26:02You know, it's just very much that.
- 26:05Yeah. All right.
- 26:06Well, then let's rate it. OK.
- 26:10Had a good time with this. I think I'd give it a 7 1/2.
- 26:15I'm going to give it a 6 1/2. OK.
- 26:18So there's a starting average of seven?
- 26:19Nice. Like, not bad.
- 26:21All right, let's get into it. So we start off.
- 26:25With a bang, yeah. Like that caught me off guard.
- 26:29I didn't expect like frame one to be an explosion.
- 26:32Yeah, yeah. And it just kept going.
- 26:34And then we see a dog running and something following it and
- 26:38we get to the news explaining it was an explosion at the by
- 26:40Binodyne. Binodyne abandoned.
- 26:48It's a building. Hold on, I've got the name of
- 26:51the certain of somewhere Cyanadine.
- 26:56Where the fuck is it? Whatever, it's somewhere.
- 26:58I'll find it later in my notes. It's a banadine people, OK,
- 27:01It's. It's a it's a lab that
- 27:03supposedly contracts for the NSO, and we see insiders at the
- 27:08NSO say that the dog in Oxcom 7 escaped and the lamb has to find
- 27:13it. Yep.
- 27:15So the dog was running. Yeah, they're they're linked.
- 27:17There's about 72 hours before the Oxcom will kill the dog.
- 27:22Yeah, So Lem calls OXCOM a disaster, he said.
- 27:27The whole project is a disaster. The dog is being tracked.
- 27:31And basically OXCOM is supposed to be like the Super soldier is
- 27:35a killing machine. It's got no conscience, but they
- 27:38keep killing the dogs. That's so sad.
- 27:42Yeah, fuck really fucked up. Yeah, so we're now at a barn,
- 27:46which is where the dog wandered to.
- 27:48Just opens that door up right away.
- 27:50Yeah, no issues. Good boy.
- 27:51Yeah. Yeah, goes inside and we see
- 27:54Tracy and Travis get cock blocked by the sounds.
- 27:58Of poor boy, he was just like, oh, there goes my microphone.
- 28:02I was like Queen and Inquest. It was like, what are you going
- 28:05to say? Speak up.
- 28:08Yeah. Like he was like lifting the
- 28:11shirt up and then boom. Yep.
- 28:12Yeah. Hear the sounds.
- 28:13Tracy assumes it's her dad, so he sneaks out and the dog is all
- 28:17sneaking out at the same time. And Tracy goes downstairs and
- 28:20she's like, I'm just feeding the horses, obviously, with my shirt
- 28:23untucked, my hair messed up. Yeah.
- 28:25Of course, yeah. And the dad's, like, really mad.
- 28:27He's like, you got to go to school tomorrow.
- 28:29She's like, it's Saturday's like, yeah, still.
- 28:31But is it because Travis actually does go to school
- 28:35tomorrow? Was that the next day?
- 28:37I thought there were days. Off saying there's 72 hours
- 28:40before the Hawks come kills the dog so this timeline don't
- 28:46trust. It I think that's a loose
- 28:47sideline. Yeah.
- 28:49Well, either way. So Travis gets in his truck, his
- 28:52truck. Truck, if you will.
- 28:53And I will. I will see actually and fur face
- 28:58or a dog in this case just jumps in the bed of the truck without
- 29:01him knowing. Meanwhile, back at the barn, as
- 29:04Tracy is feeding the horses, she is attacked by something.
- 29:07She screams. Her dad comes in to help her.
- 29:10He is attacked to death. To attack to death, yeah.
- 29:14And it's really bad. He dies.
- 29:16Her mom had died the year before, so she is an orphan.
- 29:19She's in high school. This is really rough to see her
- 29:21cry the way she is. The cops are arguing if it's a
- 29:27grizzly bear or a Sasquatch, and it's meant to make Porter look
- 29:31kooky, but she's closer. Yeah, right.
- 29:35She's. Closer and then they're also
- 29:36like why they get into kind of like a pissing contest with the
- 29:39NSO. Yeah, it's the whole thing,
- 29:41like, oh, you're taking over this investigation, This is my
- 29:44county, Whatever bullshit. So Travis notices the dog in the
- 29:49bed of his truck. He stops and then as he stops to
- 29:52get out, the dog jumps out and then hops in the cabin of the
- 29:54truck. Did I ever tell you my dog
- 29:57growing up like, oh, she, she wasn't supposed to get on the
- 30:01couch, but she would anyway. And it was kind of one of those
- 30:04like she just, if she didn't do it blatantly, we wouldn't call
- 30:08her out on it. But she started getting bolder
- 30:09the older she got. And she would go to the door and
- 30:13scratch at it like she needed to go out and see.
- 30:15You would get up and stand up and go to open the door and she
- 30:18would run and take your spot on the couch.
- 30:20You. Know you got to reward that
- 30:21though. That's thinking.
- 30:22I know it's kind of like, well, you're not supposed to be on the
- 30:26couch and also you stole my seat, but you kind of earned it.
- 30:29Yeah. You.
- 30:29Like that dog definitely earned it.
- 30:31You better not have kicked it off.
- 30:33Man smart dogs. Well, the same, same thing
- 30:38applies here. Travis is like, you got to get
- 30:39out there, you can't be there. He's like, all right, you know,
- 30:42as you do with the dog. Yeah, and the dog starts eating
- 30:44cookies in his front seat. He goes.
- 30:45Well, those are pretty good. He.
- 30:47Mentions he's like there's. But I don't have any more food
- 30:49unless you count the candy bar in my glove compartment and
- 30:52furry face poop. At the candy bar, he's like,
- 30:55holy shit. He's like, all right, I guess
- 30:57you can have that too, but I get a piece, please.
- 31:00Yeah, again, right. Reaction with your dog.
- 31:02Yeah. So yeah, yeah, they're, they're
- 31:05bonding already. They get to his house and in the
- 31:08garage he makes him a little bed inside of a tub.
- 31:14But that's not that's not where her face is going to sleep, for
- 31:17her face follows him into the house, and that's how he wakes
- 31:20up in the morning. Yeah, I like that.
- 31:22Yeah. So he's woken up in his bed for
- 31:24face licking him and he has to hide because he's not allowed to
- 31:27have a dog and moms coming up to go check on him.
- 31:30Yeah. Got to tell him about what
- 31:31happened last night about Tracy. Tracy got attacked.
- 31:35OK, I guess this is the next day.
- 31:36If this is Sunday, then and he's going to the hospital, then the
- 31:40next day. We want it.
- 31:41That makes sense. OK.
- 31:43Yeah. So they get to the hospital and
- 31:48they're not letting him in to see Tracy, but he kind of, like,
- 31:52storms past him and the room's empty.
- 31:54Like, what? We moved her to a safer location
- 31:58but they don't trust them and Travis is concerned that they
- 32:01have guns cuz he's like these are clearly not doctors and his
- 32:04mom is like well they didn't say they were doctors.
- 32:06That's true, they didn't. Well they did not say they
- 32:09weren't doctors cuz he asked if they were doctors and they
- 32:11didn't really address it directly.
- 32:13I feel like they're like, really?
- 32:15Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 32:18So back at the house and mom doesn't like, she doesn't want
- 32:21to keep her face because she's like, we, I work, you go to
- 32:25school. It could never work.
- 32:26It could never work out. Nobody in the.
- 32:29History of dog ownership has had this arrangement, but he wants
- 32:34to show her how smart the dog is, so he says hey, in the
- 32:38bottom right drawer of our fridge is a pack of hot dogs.
- 32:42If you can go down there and grab them, we'll give you 1 and
- 32:45she does it or he doesn't. Yep, and.
- 32:48Like the the look on his face and he gets the hot dog.
- 32:50Give me a fucking hot dog. Yeah.
- 32:52And then he like further produces smartness by she's
- 32:56like, OK, like is this a book or something else?
- 32:58I don't know. Yeah, no, she's holding up two
- 33:01different books, She goes. Which one has a deer on it?
- 33:05That's right. Yeah.
- 33:06Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:06And then I was like asking like, is this George Washington?
- 33:09Is this Ben Franklin? Opus Abraham Lincoln.
- 33:12Yeah, Yeah, it's cool, yes. Smart dog.
- 33:16Travis gives him a bath and sees GH3 like, marked in his ear and
- 33:21realizes he's probably a research animal and that's why
- 33:23he's so smart. Yeah.
- 33:25Meanwhile, Lim and Cliff are watching video notes about the
- 33:30Francis experiment, as it's called, and basically talking
- 33:33about OXCOM and GH3. They're like brothers.
- 33:36They share genes. But the OXCOM, in all of their
- 33:39iterations of this experiment, it keeps just having this hatred
- 33:43towards this dog, which makes it uncontrollable.
- 33:45The dynamic apparently is the dog acts as the homing device
- 33:49and OXCOM is the missile. So they send the dog in it in
- 33:53full trace and then that's where the monster comes in and wrecks.
- 33:56You. But it wants to also wreck the
- 33:58dog. Yeah.
- 33:59So meanwhile, Nora is saying that she's going to call the
- 34:04newspaper and put it in an ad to see if anybody's missing this
- 34:07dog, and her face is unplugged. So funny.
- 34:11I love. That so the dog's facial
- 34:14expressions are perfect. Yeah, and they understand, like,
- 34:17OK, clearly the dog came from a troubled place and does not want
- 34:19to go back like that's. A good thing, yeah, that's.
- 34:22Yeah, that's what Travis is. He was like, clearly like this
- 34:25dog is smart enough to say I don't want to go back to where
- 34:27I'm from yeah. Meanwhile, don't we go down to a
- 34:30van by the river and. Like what the fuck is his name?
- 34:37Almost said Nick Foley. It's something.
- 34:40No, Oh my God, no. Now I can picture him.
- 34:45It's something Foley. I can't fucking remember.
- 34:48Whatever. You broke my brain.
- 34:51I can picture him. He's in Tommy Boy too.
- 34:55No, the character's name. Is what I was thinking about.
- 34:58No, I was trying to think of the actor's name.
- 35:00I can't remember any of the other now.
- 35:01Chris Farley, Chris. Farley Yeah, whatever.
- 35:03You know who we're talking about, people.
- 35:05I feel better down by the van, by the river.
- 35:07We have a camper who is just going to his camper.
- 35:11He gets Oxcommed. He gets oxcommed because he
- 35:13thinks it's those fucking kids again are stealing his fish.
- 35:16Do kids really steal his fish all the time?
- 35:19Man, like small town shit, you know you got to find something
- 35:22to do. But later we hear the kids say
- 35:24like he probably got busted that weed he grows.
- 35:26So I feel like mostly they steal his weed and then just to be
- 35:29extra assholes they take his fish.
- 35:31Yeah. I feel like they don't actually
- 35:34want the fish but they just want to fuck with.
- 35:36Him they are asshole. Kids.
- 35:37Yeah, they really are. He just wants he just wants to
- 35:40hand wash his clothes, cook his fish over a fire and get high.
- 35:44I'm sorry, I thought this was America.
- 35:46That's. The life right there.
- 35:48More power to you, dude. So yeah, he's dead though.
- 35:51Yeah, Travis wants to go look for Tracy, but we get like mom
- 35:56saying no, you have to go to school, and if you don't go to
- 35:59school, we can't keep her face. Yeah, and you can't take your
- 36:01dog with you because he wants to take the dog to school too.
- 36:03She's like at. School.
- 36:05You can't have a dog at school. Says who?
- 36:08Where does it say that? We get that Mary, Little Mary
- 36:11had a little lamb, and so we know lambs aren't allowed at
- 36:16school because that's part of the nursery rhyme.
- 36:18And then it did follow her to school one day though.
- 36:21It did. You're right.
- 36:22But it made the children laugh and play, and I feel like that's
- 36:24what happens in this movie too. It is, this is.
- 36:26And dude, the dog even, OK, the dog actually does his work
- 36:29formally. So we're getting ahead of
- 36:31ourselves first. Instead of my dog ate my
- 36:33homework, my dog did. My homework, yeah.
- 36:36OK, so while he's at school, Johnson drops by Johnson is my.
- 36:40That's how I referred to Michael R inside.
- 36:42I didn't get his first name. I just referred to him as
- 36:44Johnson. Yeah, he drops by Travis's house
- 36:48to question Travis because he. Well, he said he has a dog and.
- 36:53Hockney is there fixing their dryer.
- 36:56Dude, he's like, yeah, I'm here fixing their employment, if you
- 36:59know what I mean. I mean he actually is, but like
- 37:02it's like the porno. Scenario.
- 37:04This is upsettingly horny. He is very horny, Yeah.
- 37:07I mean I think he he was in a porno.
- 37:10Yeah, I mean, that's the fantasy he has set up for himself, and I
- 37:14feel like Nora is taking full advantage of that.
- 37:16Yeah, she is. Yeah.
- 37:18It's an arrangement that's working for everybody.
- 37:21But yeah, he tells Liam like, oh, no, they don't have a dog.
- 37:24So he leaves. Fur face comes to school.
- 37:27I love the girls that like walk through the front door and see
- 37:30him jump on the door and they're like.
- 37:32Let him in. Yeah, let's let him.
- 37:34In and he runs to the computer lab, which is the class Travis
- 37:38has and he goes to the computer and takes the pencil and types
- 37:41in dangerous and so and Travis is like oh, OK, so the NSO was
- 37:50after you and they were the bad guys and fur face barks, barks.
- 37:53Bark. Yeah, and the teacher gets
- 37:56really upset with them. Yeah, I listen.
- 37:59Fur Face could learn inside Bark in one try because we've taught
- 38:03Talia inside bark and she's hard headed.
- 38:06Yeah, but he's got like, he probably got caught up in his
- 38:09emotions. He's like, yes, fuck those guys.
- 38:12Yeah, so basically he gets detention but is still allowed
- 38:15to keep the dog. And you know what?
- 38:18Not the worst scenario. That's so good that you know
- 38:21I'll take it. We see the kids that are like
- 38:25friends with Travis or whatever, they were cutting school and
- 38:29they see the man in the camper down by the river.
- 38:32Like, they see the cops all around him and are like, well,
- 38:36guess we better get away before they think we're involved in his
- 38:39murder. And they go into the woods and
- 38:41while they're there, they get ox combed as well.
- 38:43Yeah. And it's it's pretty rough.
- 38:46Yeah, I wish we could have seen more.
- 38:48There was a cool stunt of one of the kids falling down the
- 38:50mountain though that like I appreciated.
- 38:52And what is this Lord of the Flies bullshit where they keep
- 38:55calling the one guy piggy? He's not even that fat of a kid.
- 38:58No, he's got he's got a little baby fat.
- 39:00Yeah, that's what they called it even in the movie.
- 39:02But still, you know, I think that they're just looking for
- 39:04somebody to pick on here. Yeah, it was just like, bollocks
- 39:08to your ass, my piggy. Yeah, well, after the Oxcam
- 39:12kills the boys there, he stumbles upon the school because
- 39:16that's where the fur faces. Yep, but Fur face and Travis
- 39:21have both left for the day. Yep they know who hasn't left
- 39:24the teacher and so he gets attacked and the maintenance
- 39:28person downstairs hears the screams through the vents.
- 39:31This was some good sound work actually cuz it was very eerie
- 39:35the way they made these sounds. So he calls the cops and he's
- 39:38saying, hey, I'm maintenance here.
- 39:40I'm hearing some oh, God. And then he starts screaming
- 39:42too. And then the line is cut and the
- 39:44sheriff asked Porter what it was.
- 39:46And she goes, oh, just some guy screaming down at the school.
- 39:48Yeah, if it's an issue, he'll call back.
- 39:50Like, are you fucking getting like the way that Barry Goosey
- 39:52looks at her? It's just.
- 39:54Like, and you know what, I thank you.
- 39:57I am glad that he had the the right thought of being like, no,
- 40:01we need to go check this out. Yeah, right.
- 40:04Yeah, and that leads to one of my favorite scenes in the movie
- 40:06where the cops, they arrive at the school and they go into the
- 40:09computer lab. They find the teacher dead
- 40:11there. Yep.
- 40:12And then they go down into, I'm guessing like the boiler room or
- 40:16whatever where the maintenance guy was.
- 40:18Man, schools in the 80s be having huge messy boiler.
- 40:22Rooms. Yeah, right.
- 40:22I didn't ever see that shit in my school.
- 40:24Never. I would be shocked if my school
- 40:26had a boiler. Yeah, right.
- 40:29Yeah. They find the maintenance guy,
- 40:33he's pinned against the wall. He's kind of got the Michael
- 40:35Myers Bob kill right there pinned up against.
- 40:38The wall was this part of like, Oxcom's like creation and
- 40:42training like. Watch Halloween.
- 40:44Watch War. Movies Watch Friday the 13th
- 40:46because then he throws Porter into an electric panel.
- 40:50Dude, yeah, and it's awesome. Like it's a great kill and then
- 40:53chases the the sheriff. Listen, this was a moment and I
- 40:57was like, I could see you doing something like that.
- 40:59You're like, dude, I I did stuff like that because he runs
- 41:02through the school and it's the double doors in the front with
- 41:06the push bars, right? And instead of going for one or
- 41:08the other, just running and pushing right through, my man
- 41:11jumps up and hips both of them right in the middle.
- 41:15So that way both doors open. You run at the door, you run at
- 41:19the door and then you just like put your hip to the side and
- 41:21just on just open it with your hips while you're in the air.
- 41:24And then you just bust out the door.
- 41:25And I told Jesse I was like, I did that.
- 41:28And that was that was me. And right there, that's like,
- 41:30summer break. Like, hell yeah, let's fucking
- 41:32go. Yeah.
- 41:34Like, so he's not exactly in that good of a mood because he
- 41:36got chased by a monster. So now the cops are at the
- 41:39school. NSL arrives and he is furious
- 41:41with them and he is like, hey, you didn't warn us what was
- 41:44going on. We weren't prepared for what
- 41:46we're going to deal with. You need to tell me everything
- 41:49that you know or I'm going to go to the press with what I've
- 41:52figured out so far. So.
- 41:53It's like, all right, fine, I'll tell you everything, but we got
- 41:56to go away from everybody first. Yep, and unfortunately Lam has
- 42:05taken his orders very seriously that this is on a need to know
- 42:07basis. So he kills Gary Barry Goosey.
- 42:12He gives some details about the project.
- 42:14First, it's called the Francis project.
- 42:16I can't remember why they called it that, but basically he's
- 42:20like, what? OK, so if it's so intelligent,
- 42:23why is it behaving like this? And he explains it's got a
- 42:26reasonable mind, but it's not right emotionally.
- 42:28You cannot control any of that. So it's just always in like an
- 42:31anger. So it just, yeah, it's always
- 42:33attacking. Yep.
- 42:35And then he's like, all right, so one final thing.
- 42:38And then he just like grabs him and shoves him through the
- 42:40window of his car. This is.
- 42:42Probably the most graphic death we actually got.
- 42:44Yeah, it's really well done. And he like stabs him.
- 42:46Like he's like jamming his neck repeatedly on the broken glass
- 42:49and just stabbing him. And then, to cover his traces
- 42:53even more, he plucks his eyeballs out the same way all
- 42:56the Tom has been doing. Yeah, that's really good.
- 42:59So we see Hockney trying to put the moves on Nora.
- 43:03She's not in the mood. She's got a lot going on right
- 43:06now. She's very stressed and she's
- 43:08apparently a shoes in the house person because even after he is
- 43:11like undone one of her shoes, she puts it back on.
- 43:13She's like what the fuck? And then Travis and fur face
- 43:19come in and he goes, oh, you do have a dog.
- 43:22When did that happen? And they're like, what?
- 43:24Oh yeah, no, there was some guy that came by and he was asking
- 43:27if you had a dog. What?
- 43:28Also said he was going to take take you to see Tracy.
- 43:30What? They are like, so he's like, I
- 43:34got to go and then like Hockney's like, what the fuck is
- 43:36happening here? Hockney, by the way, he's an
- 43:39Aussie bloke and he is like exactly, picture it.
- 43:42That's it. That's exactly, that's exactly
- 43:45what this guy looks like. He's got the mole, he's got the
- 43:48accent. He like.
- 43:49Except it's not like like an intentional mullet is just like
- 43:52his haircut was a very specific continent grew out.
- 43:55I mean, it's kind of like the mullet at that time.
- 43:57It's like the Seinfeld mullet, almost a little bit more puffy
- 44:01in the back there. Either way, he's an awesome.
- 44:02He's a bloke. For sure he is a bloke, yes.
- 44:05So and Travis realizes that the Oxcott is following them because
- 44:10he's kind of put together, like he hears about the murders at
- 44:12the school and he's like, oh, shit, they're following you,
- 44:14right? For her face and for her face
- 44:16barks months for. Yes.
- 44:18So he sneaks out, but mom catches us.
- 44:21He's leaving. And she's like, listen, we're in
- 44:24this together. You're my boy.
- 44:25Yeah. You're my boy.
- 44:27Like my son, son. They're like, that's my boy.
- 44:31Yeah. So.
- 44:33They hop in the truck together. And they drive off then hot me.
- 44:36It's just like, well, I guess work on the dryer.
- 44:40I like how immediately whenever he is like, you know what, I'm
- 44:42going to fix this up. I'm going to get her in the mood
- 44:44and then it just like explodes on.
- 44:46But as soon as it happens, Oxcom shows up.
- 44:50And then Hotney is Oxcommed and. I don't know what happens here,
- 44:54but they decided to go back to their house.
- 44:55Well, cuz this is Nora had had that heart to heart with him out
- 44:58there as they're worrying. She's like, listen, we're in
- 45:00this together, we're going to fight this and this is happening
- 45:03simultaneously is hopping going. I know what lubes a lady's
- 45:07parts, working appliances. And then he is attacked and they
- 45:12come in and Oxcom has made quick work of destroying the fuck out
- 45:16of their home. And they, you know, they run
- 45:20upstairs to Travis's room and they're taking turns parkouring
- 45:24over to the next house's roof. And as her face jumps out,
- 45:29Oxcomb scratches him, throws off his momentum.
- 45:32He falls. That's not good for a dog's back
- 45:36legs that size. It's just, it's really rough.
- 45:39They get down, but Verbace is OK, just scratched up and hurt.
- 45:43So they get him to the vet. Yep, so they're at the vet.
- 45:48And as they're at the vet, the cops in the news have already
- 45:50made their way to the Cornell's house.
- 45:51Yeah, everybody's there. Like, I mean, come on.
- 45:54Like, you hear that shit? Neighbors heard that shit.
- 45:56Yeah, Like, yeah. So at the vet and this is a
- 46:00sketchy looking vet. This is like a mafia vet.
- 46:03It's like the vet from Better Call Saul.
- 46:05Take your word for it. Yeah, he's he's exactly what
- 46:07you're describing. So sorry if that came through.
- 46:10Yeah. So like, he's like, yeah, he'll
- 46:12be fine. He just needs an antibiotic
- 46:15ointment. I call bullshit.
- 46:17We've never ointmented Talia once and she's had lots of
- 46:21biotics. Yeah, maybe medicines progressed
- 46:23a lot since the 80s, but that's the reason is this guy is very
- 46:28sketched because. Yeah, he's gonna go call and.
- 46:31Get a reward. He notices on the ear the little
- 46:33thing there. And then he sees they have the
- 46:36missing dog posters and it's a Cancer Research dog is what they
- 46:39have it listed as, which I understand.
- 46:41Like, yeah, I get it. But at the same time, like
- 46:45clearly these people are taking care of this dog.
- 46:48As with markings like that, it's not always like related to
- 46:51research. Stray dogs and cats get marked
- 46:54like that a lot to show that they've been fixed.
- 46:57OK, it's like cats, especially if they're they're part of the
- 46:59catch and release program, they at least like fix them if they
- 47:03want to remain feral. Cats have the ability to decide
- 47:06if they want to be feral or domesticated.
- 47:07Just look at Scout. Yeah, she's, she's teetering
- 47:10back and forth all the time. And I think they do the same
- 47:14with like, stray dogs. That way if they get picked up
- 47:17by you know, like a shelter or something, they know that the
- 47:20dog is already fixed. Well, Travis Travis since since
- 47:24it's a sketch and overhears him on the phone calling in the dog
- 47:27so they book it out of there. And I like how the mom is like,
- 47:30we're just real criminals now. Like we didn't even pay him.
- 47:33Fuck that dude, he he did that to himself.
- 47:35Yeah, I just, I just, I feel like I would have that same
- 47:40reaction. Like we, we're truly on the Lam.
- 47:43If, well you know what, I still stand by it.
- 47:47So they end up stopping at a. You could.
- 47:48Say that, but our vet bills say differently.
- 47:52Well, our vet's been cool. We've not had any bad vet.
- 47:55Well, we have had bad vets, but you know.
- 47:58Our vet even texted us last night and said, hey, we'll have
- 48:01somebody monitoring the text line.
- 48:02Even if we don't have somebody in office.
- 48:04We don't know what the weather's gonna look like.
- 48:06That's right. So they stop at a hotel for the
- 48:08night and they stay there. And the cleric is very adamant
- 48:11that no dogs are allowed, but he won't say anything as long as
- 48:15his wife doesn't find out. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:19So they're there and next morning and so, yeah, they've
- 48:25tracked them down. And the wife did find out about
- 48:27the dog because she's, she's mad way smarter than her husband, I
- 48:31think. And she's like, yeah, please get
- 48:33them the fuck out of my facility.
- 48:36Thank you. And so they go and they're
- 48:38talking to Nora and they're kind of joking around that she
- 48:41wouldn't be a very good criminal mastermind.
- 48:43And whatever she stalls, she's asking about Tracy.
- 48:45And they're like, well, what if we can take you to see Tracy?
- 48:48What you believe is then she goes, well, I would like to see
- 48:50her. So they start to walk out.
- 48:51In the meantime, Travis and her face have snuck out the back and
- 48:55gotten into the truck. And by the point that the NSL
- 48:58and Nora are both out of the room, the truck is long gone.
- 49:02And he was like, I take that back.
- 49:03You would be a great criminal mastermind.
- 49:06And so they take her to see Tracy and she goes.
- 49:11Where are her injuries? Yeah, she's just drugged up.
- 49:16She is just being sedated and he's like, well, she's, she's
- 49:20very upset. You need to tell us where Travis
- 49:23and Fur Face are going. Where Travis and Fur Face are
- 49:26going is in fact, his, his dad's cabin.
- 49:31Meanwhile, we do have to point out, because this was a great
- 49:35moment, the motel owner is cleaning the room.
- 49:38She is furious at the amount of dog hair she's vacuuming up.
- 49:42I get it, girl, I really do. And we get like a triple fake
- 49:47out like she hears the sound in the bathroom.
- 49:50Oh, it's clear. Here's it from behind the
- 49:52curtain. Oh, bathtub's clear.
- 49:55Here's is checking something in the medicine cabinet, closes it.
- 49:59And then she turns around and. Then it's.
- 50:01Oxcombed we have a great triple freak fake out and I think
- 50:04that's just not all always done super well because it's so
- 50:08expected most of the. Time yeah, it's it's one that's
- 50:10always played with so you you know something either is going
- 50:13to happen or not I guess it's like it's at that point now to
- 50:15where you don't know what's going to happen anymore because.
- 50:18Yes, this didn't feel like a Meadow Wink, wink, nod, nod.
- 50:21This was just a We're building the.
- 50:23Kind of like Scream Five with Wes's character.
- 50:25Yes, that's exactly what it was thinking about.
- 50:26Yeah, yeah. They play with that so much in
- 50:29that scene. Yeah, it's it's a good depth.
- 50:31I liked it. So Travis, he goes to the store,
- 50:37he's getting some supplies. He gets actual dog treats for
- 50:41Fur Face. Yeah, I feel like he could have
- 50:42asked Fur Face what he wanted. Maybe he did.
- 50:46Like we sometimes will take Talia with us to feed her supply
- 50:50for her to pick out her the flavors of food she wants are
- 50:54I'm sure you guys have figured out in the years of listening to
- 50:57us at Thai is a little bit spoiled.
- 50:59Yeah. We cannot buy any bags larger
- 51:02than about 1520 lbs because if she has to eat the same flavor
- 51:07for more than a week, she won't she.
- 51:10Just stops. She likes ducks still.
- 51:12Yeah, well, duck, even though she still needs it.
- 51:14Like she needs something to break it up in between bags.
- 51:17Yeah sure she won't eat 2 bags to back bags of duck.
- 51:19No, she it's, she's very fussy. She has to approve of the foods
- 51:25when we bring them in. It's the whole system.
- 51:28That we have. Here, which has trained us.
- 51:30Yes, and I just I feel like Travis probably could have had
- 51:34fur faces involvement and what he was gonna.
- 51:36Eat. Yeah, probably would have been.
- 51:37I mean, especially since you can have a conversation with this
- 51:39dog. Yeah.
- 51:40He also buys an ammunition. And this guy like this guy,
- 51:43like, he's like, how old are you?
- 51:45So he's like old enough to know how to shoot a gun, something
- 51:48like that. And like they like he realized
- 51:50that he's true. He's like, yeah, like I'm.
- 51:53Going to shoot some Grizzlies. Grizzlies are extinct.
- 51:55No, no. No Grizzlies are protected.
- 51:58Yeah, he's like, Nah, he's like, yeah, I know.
- 52:00And the guy just like smiles. And he's like, fuck yeah, get
- 52:03you some guns, man. It's just.
- 52:05Like, such a nice little call back to the beginning when they
- 52:07thought that Tracy's dad was killed by possibly a grizzly
- 52:11because the sheriff was like, people around town really didn't
- 52:13like that we were protecting and bringing back the grizzly bear.
- 52:15Yeah. So I like the.
- 52:17Guy was like, yeah, he is. Yeah.
- 52:21So this is cool. This is the moment where they're
- 52:23back at the place they're rigging up.
- 52:25Well, OK, First off, they're doing Scrabble.
- 52:27Yeah, they had a Scrabble. He had brought the Scrabble port
- 52:30out and while he was at the store for face, made a message
- 52:32that said I go, I danger you, I stay, you die and travel.
- 52:39We're in the together. Yeah, they.
- 52:42Strategize together. It was, it was sad.
- 52:45Like I like that, Like it was an emotional moment.
- 52:47But then it's immediately like we get montage and they're
- 52:50sabotaging, like they're rigging up traps all over the place.
- 52:53And in the middle of rigging us up, they're also playing a game
- 52:55of Scrabble. Yeah, like I was so in Jesse,
- 52:57this scene, like to cap this off, it just we just need them
- 53:00to like high 5 like, yeah, yeah. But like, like, again, that
- 53:04scene of them playing Scrabble where like he's like, that's not
- 53:07a war and he pulls out the dictionary and he's like, you
- 53:09can't use abbreviations like DZ for dozens.
- 53:13Except the problem is, right as they're in the middle of
- 53:16arbitrating, they hear their little warning thing go off, and
- 53:20the NSA are there with Nora and Tracy, and so Travis runs out
- 53:26the Rose. A Molotow cocktail gets Tracy
- 53:30and Nora back towards the house and then Lem and Cliff.
- 53:34Yeah, they have like an argument.
- 53:36Cliff is like, you know what, man?
- 53:37It's. Like I'm not killing two kids.
- 53:39It's a. Fucking dog bro.
- 53:41It's. Just a dog and Lem goes.
- 53:43Remember how I said there were three experiments?
- 53:46There was GH3, Oxcom 7 and me. Yeah, I'm the perfect killer.
- 53:51I have no conscious. Boom, Michael Ironside.
- 53:55I make kids explode. Pow.
- 53:57Pow. Yep.
- 54:00Yeah, he kills him. He kills Cliff.
- 54:02Yeah. So Vanadine.
- 54:04Vanadine, right there. There it is in my notes.
- 54:08OK. So yeah, Travis blows up their
- 54:12truck. Yep.
- 54:13And he's like woo Hoo, except Lem had snuck from their truck
- 54:16over to Travis's. So he pops out and he attacks
- 54:21them and he stabs them, but then fur face jumps cuz fur face is
- 54:24like hell no. And he's trying to protect.
- 54:28And then Lem gets stabbed and shot.
- 54:31Like everybody just kind of takes their turn doing something
- 54:33to him because he's like really fucked them over.
- 54:35And he goes you guys don't stand a chance.
- 54:37And Nora and Tracy bring Travis back into the cabin, and they're
- 54:42going to try and tourniquet his wounds.
- 54:45And instead of using any of the supplies in this whole goddamn
- 54:48cabin, they're just ripping their own shirts.
- 54:51Yeah, there. There would have been supplies
- 54:53there. Like there is a panic here.
- 54:55In an empty cabin. As a panic moment.
- 54:58Well, as they're panicking, more panic because Oxcom shows up.
- 55:02Yep. And Travis bortles him and that
- 55:06fur face goes and fights him and gets thrown into a truck and
- 55:09that's scary. And so Travis shoots him and
- 55:11follows him into the woods and sees the ox con and he's like,
- 55:14OK, cool, he's dead. And he starts to walk away
- 55:16because we'd had this whole moment before where he said like
- 55:19he was where those parents, of course, because he wasn't a good
- 55:21hunter. Well, he, he starts doing his
- 55:22hunter. He, you know, he sees the
- 55:23footprints, he sees the boy trail.
- 55:25He's like, all right, I'm going to track it.
- 55:26So he tracks and he thinks he's dead, and he doesn't double.
- 55:29Tap No, he doesn't think it's dead.
- 55:30He's like sparing it because like it's like he's holding the
- 55:33gun to it's head and it's like giving him a sad look.
- 55:35It's like, it's like making like a whimper and he's like, you
- 55:38know what? I can't do it because that's
- 55:39what he said before. Like I can't kill.
- 55:42So he walks away and as he walks away, Oxcom takes that
- 55:45opportunity and starts fighting back.
- 55:48And then that time Travis is like, fuck it, I'm actually
- 55:50killing you this time and pow pow, get some.
- 55:53And then and he returns back and they said, OK, we gotta get fur
- 55:56face to the vet. Chris Roll just like, really
- 56:00fast. Yeah, you know what, I think if
- 56:04I was gonna change one thing with this movie, I would want a
- 56:06little bit more of like a wrap up heavily happily ever after
- 56:10moment. An epilogue.
- 56:10Yeah, give us like 3 months later or something.
- 56:12OK, yeah, like having like the fur face and the family, just
- 56:17like everybody's there. The mom has embraced the dog
- 56:19now. Yeah, I'm gonna keep it at a 6.5
- 56:21though. OK, I'm keeping that 7.5.
- 56:24I had a good time with this movie.
- 56:25I like it. All right so our ending averages
- 56:27to seven. OK what is a dream sequel Cuz
- 56:32there artifacts 4 watchers movies there are 4.
- 56:36Whoa, OK. Well Watchers, Watchers 2,
- 56:39Watchers 3, and I think the 4th 1 was like Watchers Reborn or
- 56:42something like that. Wow.
- 56:44Man, I don't know, I'll shoot like I I was shocked that there
- 56:47was a second. Yeah, you had a hard time
- 56:50reading the description of the movie because you said the re
- 56:52injured dog. Yeah, I don't want that to
- 56:55happen in my dream sequel. Don't want the dog to be re
- 56:59injured. I want.
- 57:01It I want it to be like the dog is going around.
- 57:06I'm sorry, no OK here. Saving the date.
- 57:09OK, the NSO finds Johnson's body and re augments him.
- 57:15He becomes like a Cyborg. Of some sort or something?
- 57:18More of a perfect killing machine and you know, he has
- 57:21more of a conscience like. Mercenary towel moment.
- 57:24Yeah, he's not. He doesn't have a conscience,
- 57:26obviously, but he's like more. He's more stable then the OXCOM
- 57:32was. So he ends up being their super
- 57:34weapon and maybe he goes rogue and like wants to get revenge on
- 57:39them. OK.
- 57:40Like he's like like avoiding their orders.
- 57:42He like snaps on them. He's like no, they want him to
- 57:45go attack Soviet Russia or whatever because of that shit.
- 57:49And he's like no, fuck that. I'm going after a doc.
- 57:52OK. Yeah.
- 57:53All right, who did you relate to?
- 57:58I related to Travis, obviously not because of the name, but
- 58:03because I also got in trouble in computer lab.
- 58:08It's because I was playing sound effects and songs out out from
- 58:11my computer to Disrupt class and I got in trouble.
- 58:15So instead of barking, I just started playing like random
- 58:17shit. OK, I I would get on Garage Band
- 58:20and play the the Rocky thing like I'd go.
- 58:28I probably related to fur face because I've definitely had a
- 58:31throw the dictionary down moment.
- 58:33You've done Scrabble. I've seen that many times with
- 58:35my family when we play Scrabble. But don't.
- 58:38Don't challenge me. Don't challenge me about a word
- 58:41in Scrabble. My dad will challenge you.
- 58:43My dad is good at Scrabble. Your dad will challenge and then
- 58:46if you show him like, see, this is a real word, he'll be like,
- 58:49Nah, just he's like, that's the Internet.
- 58:52Go get a hard copy of the dictionary.
- 58:54And that's good. Yeah, that's right.
- 58:58Alright, So that was Scout's favorite part.
- 59:04I think Scout's favorite part was when the building exploded
- 59:10at the very beginning, because that place was warm and the
- 59:14Oxcom is just sitting there in the heat and like, she would
- 59:17have been satisfied if like she's like, why did the monster
- 59:20leave? Like perfect conditions right
- 59:22there. No, obviously Scout's favorite
- 59:27part was Talia's existential crisis as we were watching this.
- 59:34Yeah, she's like, you guys are watching the movie.
- 59:36I'm watching Talia. Oh, man.
- 59:40Yeah, OK. I could see that.
- 59:42All right, what would Dom Toretto do?
- 59:48What would Dom Toretto do? First of all, what would Dom
- 59:54like? How would he feel about pets?
- 59:58Like obviously he would treat them as like part of the family,
- 1:00:01right? Yeah, he doesn't have a pet,
- 1:00:03which is kind of surprising. And like, I wouldn't want any of
- 1:00:06his pets to get into some of the dangerous hijinks, but I also
- 1:00:08feel like if he was going to have a pet like, it would be one
- 1:00:12that could keep up like her face.
- 1:00:13It'd be a dog. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:15And like, think about how much Talia like fucking love car
- 1:00:19rides. I don't know why, but I feel
- 1:00:21like Dom would have a chimpanzee.
- 1:00:25And the one from primate? Yeah, like, you know, because
- 1:00:28like, a chimpanzee is more capable of like, fucking shit.
- 1:00:31Yeah, it's kind of like the opposable thumbs and everything.
- 1:00:33Yeah. And it's like it's stronger than
- 1:00:35Dom, even though Dom doesn't want to admit that.
- 1:00:38So like, you know, like that they have like a like a
- 1:00:41competition like it, it pushes Dom.
- 1:00:44He's like, you know what, I'm going to be as strong as that,
- 1:00:46that thing one day. It would be like his 100 men
- 1:00:50versus an 8 moment. Exactly.
- 1:00:52He's like, I'm going to be, it's going to be one V1.
- 1:00:55V1 MU bro. Yeah, and he's going to.
- 1:00:58He would teach it to drive. Absolutely.
- 1:01:00And you know, like, I want this. I want this in the next Fast and
- 1:01:05Furious. I want one of like a chimpanzee
- 1:01:07to be like a monkey and just driving along with him.
- 1:01:11I don't know. That's the story.
- 1:01:13That's what he would do. If there was a monster chasing
- 1:01:16him, he would get a chimpanzee and he would teach it how to
- 1:01:19drive. OK.
- 1:01:21I don't even care how the story shakes out from that.
- 1:01:23That's just that's it. Figure it out.
- 1:01:27He's the one that dictates the stories anyways.
- 1:01:28You can't. You can't write a movie for Vin
- 1:01:31Diesel. Vin Diesel changes it however he
- 1:01:33wants it to be. OK.
- 1:01:36All right. I've got 2 reviews as I said
- 1:01:39before, and I chose them because they're completely different
- 1:01:43responses to either having read or not having read the book.
- 1:01:48So this one, this is a three out of 10.
- 1:01:53You read a fantastic book and fall in love with it.
- 1:01:55Later you get excited at the news that the book will be
- 1:01:57turned into a movie. You want to see the movie
- 1:01:59because it should be about the book.
- 1:02:01When you see the movie, you discover that once again a
- 1:02:03director or writer think that they are so much better than the
- 1:02:05author of the book and decide to change the story to make it
- 1:02:08better. Well hey morons, you can't make
- 1:02:11it better. We love the book the way the
- 1:02:13author wrote it. I understand the difficulty in
- 1:02:15fitting a book into a 2 hour window for film, but replacing
- 1:02:18one of the main characters is inexcusable, no matter how cute
- 1:02:21the kid is. This is why my folks get so
- 1:02:23pissed off when they see a movie based on a book they loved and
- 1:02:25watching disappointment as the story goes off the rails.
- 1:02:28I've learned to skip movies based on books I love.
- 1:02:30I don't want some dingbats vision in a movie to be to
- 1:02:33replace my memories of the book. Well, I mean, I understand where
- 1:02:37they're coming from, but I, I think this is like it's an
- 1:02:43adaptation versus reimagining. I so one of the things that has
- 1:02:49really helped me with some of these is watching videos on
- 1:02:55changes from book to movie and why they did it, because there
- 1:02:59are two different ways of telling a story.
- 1:03:01They're two different mediums, and you have to tell the stories
- 1:03:04differently. And that's kind of given me a
- 1:03:05new perspective on watching adaptations.
- 1:03:09And like I said this, for me, especially with books I really
- 1:03:12love, I need to have kind of a break between them.
- 1:03:15Yeah, and I think that this was a big enough break that I could
- 1:03:20really enjoy it. I also love the book Ruins, love
- 1:03:23the movie The Ruins. You know, it's part of it is you
- 1:03:27have to understand what are the important parts of the stories
- 1:03:32that they need to tell versus like what is something that's
- 1:03:35great for a book, but we can't necessarily waste resources on
- 1:03:38in a movie. Yeah, I can understand that,
- 1:03:41yeah. And that's, like I said, I think
- 1:03:42that's one of the reasons they aged down.
- 1:03:44Travis's character was so that way they could kind of cheat
- 1:03:48some of the moments that show how smart the dog is.
- 1:03:51Yeah. I mean, it makes sense.
- 1:03:52I can understand why they made some of the changes they did,
- 1:03:55like based off of the things that you've said, you know?
- 1:03:59But I, I can't, I'm not going to tell you you're wrong for being
- 1:04:02upset about why you don't like that for that reason.
- 1:04:05Like if it's so different from the book, I understand it 100%.
- 1:04:09That's right now in The Hunger Games subreddit, it's a lot of
- 1:04:12people talking about like the parts of the book that they
- 1:04:14absolutely need to see and sunrise on the roofing later
- 1:04:18this year. They're like, you cannot leave
- 1:04:20out this moment. It's important to this character
- 1:04:22because of XYZ. Well lucky for them Hunger Games
- 1:04:25movies are long as shit so yeah, a lot of time to tell the story.
- 1:04:29Speaking of long as shit, my positive review is also long as
- 1:04:32shit. But it was it.
- 1:04:34It put a lot of thought into it. OK, I'm also very glad that I'm
- 1:04:38not much of A reader. Quite often when I encounter a
- 1:04:40movie adaptation of a famous novel, there's always hundreds
- 1:04:42of people complaining about how awful the movie version was.
- 1:04:45Comparison to the book? Well, I've never and probably
- 1:04:48will never read the book, so at least I don't have to feel
- 1:04:50ashamed about tremendously liking the film.
- 1:04:52It's like, I don't know any better.
- 1:04:53You dig? This is also the case with
- 1:04:55Watchers. For example, allegedly the Dean
- 1:04:57Koontz novel differs enormously from the 80s horror film
- 1:05:00version, with characters and storylines altered left and
- 1:05:02right in favor to appeal to more contemporary horror loving
- 1:05:05audiences. Travis, the lead character, is
- 1:05:07originally a 40 year old social outcast in the book, whereas
- 1:05:09he's appointed 16 year old rebel kid in the film, portrayed by
- 1:05:12Corey Haim, who was quite big at the time thanks to the success
- 1:05:14of The Lost Boys, Lucas and Silver Bullet.
- 1:05:16What's that? That's the 80s horror film
- 1:05:19industry for you? Can you blame them?
- 1:05:21Either way, Watchers is a shamelessly entertaining and
- 1:05:24virulent virulent late 80s creature feature with pleasingly
- 1:05:28high body count, gruesome special effects and
- 1:05:30irresistible, charming 80s setting and ambience, cool
- 1:05:33acting performances and one of the best use of an intelligent
- 1:05:36dog and film ever. Travis Cornell lives with his
- 1:05:39yummy mother nearby a research facility where the government,
- 1:05:42in all secrecy of course, works on the ultimate warfare weapon.
- 1:05:46The weapon itself is a giant and nearly indestructible Bigfoot
- 1:05:49creature, but the breakthrough is that it is pathically linked
- 1:05:52to an intelligent dog. The monster's programmed to
- 1:05:55track the animal down and kill everything in its path.
- 1:05:57In between, the dog and the monster escape from the lab just
- 1:06:00before there's an explosion. The dog hitches a ride in
- 1:06:02Travis's truck, and he decides to keep the animal when he
- 1:06:04notices abnormally high intellect.
- 1:06:06The dog can type warnings on a computer and compose messages
- 1:06:09via a game of Scrabble, for crying out loud.
- 1:06:11Meanwhile, the Oxcob monster leaves a trail blood of mayhem
- 1:06:15through the area. And if that isn't worse enough
- 1:06:17yet, there's also the relentless government agent Michael
- 1:06:19Ironside. He's after Travis and his dog
- 1:06:22too. This is just a summary of the
- 1:06:25movie. Here it is cover up the
- 1:06:27failures. Watcher is a fast-paced and
- 1:06:29exciting with massacres that are delightfully gruesome.
- 1:06:31The Oxcom monster has the nasty habit of removing people's
- 1:06:34eyeballs which leads to a handful of grizzly images and
- 1:06:37eerie makeup effects. The acting performances are
- 1:06:39great. Barbara Williams is excellent as
- 1:06:41Travis's caring mother and Michael Ironstein behaves
- 1:06:44psychopath. I think a nightmare ish.
- 1:06:45As always, Corihan uses his typical rebellious 80s teenager
- 1:06:49charisma to maximum results in the dog fur face is genius.
- 1:06:53Oh Watchers also provides the opportunity to admire hunky boy
- 1:06:56Jason Priestley and watch him get slaughtered slaughtered by
- 1:06:58Bigfoot. But before he can become world
- 1:07:01famous is Brandon Walsh in Beverly Hills 9-O21-O.
- 1:07:03Splendid 80s nostalgia. Sorry, I screen captured that
- 1:07:08last night and I didn't cut out the the recap part That's OK.
- 1:07:13I, I absolutely agree with that. As somebody who came into this
- 1:07:16without reading the book, you know, I have nothing bogging me
- 1:07:19down from any of the, the knowings of what was supposed to
- 1:07:23go down. So I think that's probably why I
- 1:07:26might be coming into this higher than you.
- 1:07:28Also, as like I, it does have the 80s charm to it.
- 1:07:32I love the cast. Everybody does an amazing job.
- 1:07:35And I agree, like the kills and some of the effects that we do
- 1:07:38get solid. Like it's just like a it's just
- 1:07:42one of those movies that works for me, you know, like those are
- 1:07:44all those are the boxes for me right there.
- 1:07:47Like fun casts, 80s special effects, cool monster.
- 1:07:52He's doing little check marks in.
- 1:07:53The cool checks. Yeah.
- 1:07:54Like so you all know. Yeah.
- 1:07:55Like that. That's it.
- 1:07:57That's a recipe for a movie that I would enjoy.
- 1:08:01Yeah, I think overall this is a pretty enjoyable movie.
- 1:08:04I think the book is better just because we get more of the dog.
- 1:08:08Yeah, the dog is fantastic in this movie.
- 1:08:11So I guess now it's time for the titular question to.
- 1:08:16Be or not to be, obviously, yeah yeah, like check it out because
- 1:08:20it's a good movie. Like, I don't know if you have
- 1:08:24read the book and Rs tied to it, like if you remember every
- 1:08:28little detail of it, you know, I don't know, maybe I mean still
- 1:08:31watch it. Like I am interested in books
- 1:08:35that I have read watching the movie adaptations because I'm
- 1:08:38always curious to know how those turn out.
- 1:08:40Sometimes they're amazing, sometimes they don't work as
- 1:08:42well. And you know, I've not read like
- 1:08:44a shit ton of books, but like. Definitely this one works if you
- 1:08:46go into it thinking of it as like, I think so too, cuz I mean
- 1:08:50it sounds like that's what they. Did they took components of the
- 1:08:53book? And I'm like, all right, let's
- 1:08:54tell a different story, but the same spirit.
- 1:08:57Yeah. And just like, took certain
- 1:09:00moments from the book and I'm like, all right, let's just
- 1:09:02throw that in there because that was really cool.
- 1:09:06Yeah. So cool.
- 1:09:07Yeah. Check it out for sure.
- 1:09:08All right, we will be talking about final.
- 1:09:12Destination three later this week, so be sure to go check
- 1:09:15that out. Yeah, that's right in the.
