A new wildfire, the Horn Fire, erupted near Buckhorn Summit in Trinity County around 2 p.m., burning in timber understory and starting at roughly half an acre. Quick air support—including a CAL FIRE helicopter, an air attack plane, and a retardant tanker—was deployed as smoke rapidly grew visible. Thankfully, no evacuations, road closures, or home threats have been reported. The incident commander confidently says the fire is under control with current crews, even canceling incoming reinforcements except for one water tender.
