- 1:06Speaker 1: Can Welcome back. Glad to have you with us for
- 1:13Speaker 1: a Thursday.
- 1:13Speaker 2: This portion of the program brought to you by Central
- 1:16Speaker 2: Texas Sports Medicine. Coming up, we're going to hear from
- 1:19Speaker 2: Florida head coach John Subrall, his team hosting Ole Miss
- 1:24Speaker 2: on Saturday. We've got a high school report. We're going
- 1:28Speaker 2: to hear from Mario Craver, also in the second hour,
- 1:31Speaker 2: our Clark Eisenhower outdoor edition. Bit of an interesting story.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Lots of animals attacking as usual. The Texas Rangers are
- 1:41Speaker 2: three outs away from being in the first place in
- 1:44Speaker 2: the AL West. They are clinging to a 3-1 lead
- 1:48Speaker 2: over the Mets. Home runs by Josh Young and Corey
- 1:52Speaker 2: Seager this afternoon. They are trying to salvage one game
- 1:57Speaker 2: of a three-game series with the woeful Mets.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But last night.
- 2:03Speaker 2: The Astros lost in 10 innings at Seattle, 6-5. They
- 2:08Speaker 2: will play again tonight only in Oakland. Nope, in Sacramento
- 2:15Speaker 2: against the Oakland A's. There are four games left for
- 2:20Speaker 2: the Astros. There will be three games left for the
- 2:24Speaker 2: Rangers following this one. They will head to Minnesota. Will
- 2:28Speaker 2: the Rangers to end the year, the three-game series?
- 2:33Speaker 1: And Minnesota. Rangers 78-80.
- 2:40Speaker 2: The Astros the same.
- 2:44Speaker 1: And I don't know if any of these.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Teams, either of these teams deserve to be in the playoffs,
- 2:52Speaker 2: but that's where we are right now. The Ranger pitching
- 2:56Speaker 2: staff running on fumes. We'll see what happens going into
- 3:04Speaker 2: the top of the ninth. Cubs center fielder Pete Crow
- 3:07Speaker 2: Armstrong became the seventh player in MLB history to join
- 3:12Speaker 2: the 40-40 club, stealing his 40th base of the season
- 3:18Speaker 2: against the Marlins in the bottom of the first today.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Armstrong has 45 home runs. He joins Jose Canseco, Barry Bonds,
- 3:28Speaker 2: Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano, and Ronald Acuna and Shohei Otani
- 3:36Speaker 2: as the only players to have at least 40 home
- 3:40Speaker 2: runs and 40 stolen bases. The SEC midweek injury report
- 3:48Speaker 2: is out. A & M wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman and
- 3:52Speaker 2: running back Jamarian Morrow listed as questionable for Saturday's game
- 3:58Speaker 2: at LSU. They missed last week's game. The good news
- 4:02Speaker 2: is running back K.J. Edwards was not listed on the
- 4:07Speaker 2: report today. and should be available for the game on Saturday.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Terry Bussey, of course, is out. On the LSU side,
- 4:17Speaker 2: they'll be without tight end Tredez Green, safety Deshaun Spears,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and wide receiver Phillip Wright III. Cornerback Jakeem Jackson is doubtful.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Safety to Marcus Cooley is listed as questionable, which doesn't
- 4:33Speaker 2: mean much because the quarterback Sam Levitt was listed as questionable.
- 4:38Speaker 2: One of those two on Wednesday before the game last week.
- 4:45Speaker 1: One out to go.
- 4:47Speaker 2: A & M.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Will conform me.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Aggie offensive lineman has been named a semifinalist for the
- 4:55Speaker 2: Campbell Trophy. Given by the National Football Foundation and the
- 5:00Speaker 2: College Hall of Fame, the Campbell Trophy is the premier
- 5:04Speaker 2: scholar athlete award given each year.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Year.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Congratulations to Will Conformby.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Peyton Manning, Arch's uncle, will be joining Pat McAfee on
- 5:19Speaker 2: Saturday morning on game day during the kicking contest. Johnny
- 5:26Speaker 2: Knoxville will be the guest picker. Shouldn't they reverse those?
- 5:32Speaker 2: Shouldn't they be kicking Johnny Knoxville in the groin and
- 5:35Speaker 2: let Peyton Manning pick games? I mean, I'm just saying,
- 5:40Speaker 2: isn't that what he's known for?
- 5:41Speaker 1: What a thing to be known for, by the way. Hey,
- 5:44Speaker 1: what do you do?
- 5:47Speaker 2: I let people punch me, kick me, throw balls at
- 5:50Speaker 2: me in the groin. I've made millions of dollars doing that.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I can't breathe, I can't have kids, but hey, I
- 6:00Speaker 2: have made millions of dollars and everybody knows my name.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Sorry, I.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I digress.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I'm trying to get these Rangers this very difficult third out.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Of the inning.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Authorities confirmed the arrest of former NC State sports medicine
- 6:16Speaker 2: director Robert Murphy today after a grand jury indicted him
- 6:21Speaker 2: last week on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts involving sexual
- 6:26Speaker 2: abuse of male athletes. The grand jury handed down sealed
- 6:30Speaker 2: indictments last week, but the charges remain secret until Murphy
- 6:34Speaker 2: can be located. Courts often seal indictment to give authorities
- 6:38Speaker 2: time to arrest the suspects. Murphy's North Carolina arrest warrant
- 6:44Speaker 2: listed him as an out-of-state fugitive. They're playing the President's
- 6:50Speaker 2: Cup in Medina, Illinois.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And is that over? Holy smoke.
- 6:58Speaker 2: The Rangers have won a game. They beat the Mets
- 7:02Speaker 2: 3-1 this afternoon. And they are in first place. in
- 7:07Speaker 2: the American League West. I just can't believe it. Flip
- 7:13Speaker 2: her over to the Golf Channel stand, and we will
- 7:17Speaker 2: watch what is going on with the President's Cup, which
- 7:23Speaker 2: I don't know what that is.
- 7:24Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I think it's... I don't know who's on the President's Cup.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I know what the Ryder Cup is. I don't know
- 7:35Speaker 2: the difference. They play this every two years. I know
- 7:40Speaker 2: it's not nearly as important as the Ryder Cup, and
- 7:43Speaker 2: I can't read all that stuff.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Stan, can you read it? That's the leaderboard. Tell me
- 7:49Speaker 1: what's going on. They're playing four ball right now.
- 7:52Speaker 8: So it is Scheffler and Burns on a team against
- 7:56Speaker 8: Minwoo Lee and I'm.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Okay.
- 8:00Speaker 8: I'm sorry. And then they have, they're on 15.
- 8:03Speaker 9: Okay.
- 8:03Speaker 8: And then Young and Shoffley are on a team.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So, but is that, I mean, is it one up?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Is it all squared? What does it say?
- 8:10Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 8:11Speaker 1: With the Scheffler, right there in the middle.
- 8:12Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 7: It's just all square.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Oh, good gosh. So, Scheffler, and who's he playing with?
- 8:18Speaker 6: Burns.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And they're even?
- 8:20Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Holy crud. How does that happen? And then what about
- 8:25Speaker 1: the others?
- 8:27Speaker 8: Matsuyama and.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Hideki Matsuyama.
- 8:30Speaker 8: Yeah. Okay.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And Minwoo Lee, maybe? No, it's like... Okay, it doesn't matter.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Who are they playing?
- 8:39Speaker 8: Young and Shoffley.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And what's going on there?
- 8:42Speaker 8: Matsuyama is up two.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Okay.
- 8:44Speaker 12: And then.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Good gosh.
- 8:46Speaker 8: Thomas, Justin Thomas and someone else are up two against.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Okay, they're up two.
- 8:51Speaker 8: Against Connors.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 8:52Speaker 8: And then Wyndham Clark and Mark Howe are up three
- 8:55Speaker 8: against Fox and Scott.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Okay, so three of the four American teams are up.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Is that correct?
- 9:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Do I read that correctly?
- 9:05Speaker 13: Yes.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And the Scheffler team is even.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Yes.
- 9:09Speaker 13: Okay.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's just not as important, I know, as the Ryder Cup. Okay,
- 9:18Speaker 1: that's it for now. I'm catching my breath.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I'm still trying to wrap my head around around the
- 9:26Speaker 2: fact that the Rangers are in first place in the
- 9:29Speaker 2: AL West. So that is at least until tonight.
- 9:35Speaker 1: We will carry.
- 9:36Speaker 2: That game right here on the zone from beautiful Sacramento,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and we'll see what happens. The Rangers have three games left,
- 9:48Speaker 2: but their magic number is four. So figure that out.
- 9:53Speaker 2: They still have to keep winning. Oh, we've got football tonight?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Astros are on Willie. And Astros are on Willie.
- 9:59Speaker 14: Okay.
- 10:00Speaker 1: What kind of, it's NFL football, right?
- 10:02Speaker 2: Good gosh.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It's on like every night. I'm sorry. I just don't
- 10:08Speaker 1: like it.
- 10:09Speaker 12: Okay.
- 10:10Speaker 1: We'll take a break.

- 11:20Speaker 4: If I had wings, I'd fly away from all of
- 11:29Speaker 4: my troubles, all of my pain.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And I would.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Fly to a place of comfort.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Heaven knows I need a change. If I had wings, Lord,
- 11:50Speaker 4: give me wings. Oh, I've had my share of sorrow.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Walked a long and lonesome road. a new tomorrow.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I can't believe I just heard this song yesterday, okay?
- 12:17Speaker 1: I didn't even know it existed.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Dolly wrote this song in 2014 and it is fan-freaking-tastic.
- 12:26Speaker 2: What a song. It's called If I Had Wings. It's
- 12:30Speaker 2: going to be added to my playlist. I don't know
- 12:34Speaker 2: why or how I missed it, but It's just another
- 12:39Speaker 2: unbelievable song by Dolly. Look it up and thank me later.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Here's a putt for Birdie.
- 12:52Speaker 10: I don't know who that is.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Oh, is that Adam Scott? It's Adam Scott. Did they
- 12:56Speaker 1: win the hole? They must have won the hole. Okay,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'm sorry. It's just we've got golf on here. I know.
- 13:02Speaker 1: It's football season.
- 13:04Speaker 2: And to that end, I'll tell you what we're going
- 13:07Speaker 2: to do. John Summerall is the coach at Florida. I
- 13:17Speaker 2: don't know why Florida is a favorite against Ole Miss Saturday.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I just, I know Vegas always knows stuff I don't know.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I mean, I get it. You know, I think Kurt
- 13:32Speaker 2: Bowles has opined that professional gamblers ought to be picking the,
- 13:38Speaker 2: help pick the 12 teams during the playoffs. And I'm going,
- 13:42Speaker 2: that's logical because they know more than anybody. And as
- 13:46Speaker 2: long as all of these draft, I mean, all these
- 13:49Speaker 2: gambling sites are spending money with college football. You know
- 13:53Speaker 2: what the outcry would be? Oh, no, we can't have
- 13:55Speaker 2: gambling in college sports. I'm going, okay, well, then write
- 13:59Speaker 2: a big check and give back all the money that
- 14:01Speaker 2: the gambling sites are spending to you know, help you, right?
- 14:08Speaker 11: I mean, come on.
- 14:10Speaker 2: But I think that's a great idea. Who knows more
- 14:13Speaker 2: college football than these guys? And by the way, of
- 14:18Speaker 2: course there's biases. They would probably set, you know, they'd probably, no.
- 14:22Speaker 2: But the teams themselves, they can pick the teams. They
- 14:27Speaker 2: know more than you do. They know more than I do.
- 14:30Speaker 2: And they darn sure know more than the committee does.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Right? I mean, that's a no-brainer. Okay. Again, I digress.
- 14:39Speaker 2: We're going to hear from Florida football coach John Sumrall.
- 14:44Speaker 11: We won last week. We want to win this week.
- 14:47Speaker 11: We got to get a lot better. Last week's performance
- 14:49Speaker 11: will not cut it against the outfit we're getting ready
- 14:51Speaker 11: to play. A lot of respect for Ole Miss. Really
- 14:53Speaker 11: good football team. 13-2 last year. Went to the college
- 14:56Speaker 11: football playoffs semifinals. A lot of the same returning cast
- 15:00Speaker 11: in many spots.
- 15:02Speaker 14: Well coached.
- 15:03Speaker 11: Talented. Huge challenge. We needed a great home field advantage Saturday.
- 15:08Speaker 11: I think we'll have an awesome crowd. I can't wait
- 15:10Speaker 11: to see our fan base. But our guys got to
- 15:13Speaker 11: get ready to play a lot better football or we
- 15:15Speaker 11: will be really disappointed in the outcome this week because
- 15:17Speaker 11: last week's performance will not win this week. So with that,
- 15:19Speaker 11: we'll open it up.
- 15:20Speaker 17: Obviously, there's so much returning talent with this Ole Miss
- 15:23Speaker 17: team and familiarity. But what have you seen in terms
- 15:26Speaker 17: of this team changing since you went up against them
- 15:28Speaker 17: in the college football playoff to now?
- 15:31Speaker 11: You know, I really see a lot more of the
- 15:33Speaker 11: same than different. I mean, offensively, you know, the guy
- 15:39Speaker 11: calling the offense was there as an assistant, and then
- 15:43Speaker 11: left to go be the coordinator at East Carolina, coached
- 15:45Speaker 11: against him last year. He does a great job. So
- 15:49Speaker 11: that side, when you have a defensive background head coach,
- 15:52Speaker 11: is the side when there's maybe offensive change where you think, oh,
- 15:55Speaker 11: it's going to be just drastically different. There's more same
- 16:00Speaker 11: as than different. There's some new wrinkles. There's some unique things,
- 16:05Speaker 11: but a lot more of the same than anything different.
- 16:07Speaker 11: There's a few new faces, obviously. Really what's unique is
- 16:11Speaker 11: there's probably new faces on their defense in particular. And
- 16:15Speaker 11: the offensive skill has got some new, but the quarterback
- 16:17Speaker 11: and running back are the same. But a lot of
- 16:20Speaker 11: the same, really. It's a lot of carryover. Same special
- 16:23Speaker 11: teams coordinator, too, which that matters.
- 16:25Speaker 13: Coach, just like you talk about cleaning up things, and
- 16:28Speaker 13: I know the penalties have arced you the last six quarters.
- 16:32Speaker 13: What's that process? There was a coach here years ago
- 16:37Speaker 13: who said we're going to get it corrected and kind
- 16:40Speaker 13: of never did. What's the process to cleaning up?
- 16:44Speaker 11: It starts with in a team meeting the ones that
- 16:47Speaker 11: were we were at fault for a good number of them. Now,
- 16:51Speaker 11: I turned a few into the league office. They can
- 16:53Speaker 11: comment on that. I'm not allowed to really get into
- 16:56Speaker 11: the weeds on it. Not all of them were fully justified.
- 17:00Speaker 11: And then there was some on the other side that
- 17:02Speaker 11: I think we probably– like our late hit on the
- 17:04Speaker 11: sideline I didn't agree with. And then we got hit
- 17:07Speaker 11: on their sideline out of bounds and there was no call. Like,
- 17:12Speaker 11: so I'm not going to say what was right or wrong,
- 17:14Speaker 11: but there are certain ones I show in front of
- 17:17Speaker 11: the team that were– we were at fault. We were
- 17:20Speaker 11: not free of guilt on all of them. There was
- 17:23Speaker 11: plenty of them we were in the wrong. And in
- 17:25Speaker 11: the team meeting this morning, they got called out. And
- 17:28Speaker 11: like– There ain't no hiding. And I tell them, like, so,
- 17:34Speaker 11: you know, the only way I know if it's really
- 17:36Speaker 11: fixed is by our actions. But we are going to
- 17:39Speaker 11: hold the guys really, really to a high standard of
- 17:42Speaker 11: accountability in regards to operating like a pro. And I
- 17:47Speaker 11: want our team to play.
- 17:48Speaker 14: With an edge.
- 17:49Speaker 11: I want them to play with a mindset of, like,
- 17:51Speaker 11: we're not going to take anything from anybody. Like, we're
- 17:53Speaker 11: going to bring it every time. But you have to
- 17:56Speaker 11: at some point draw the line and go, hey, it's
- 17:58Speaker 11: time to stop. There's no reason to do the extra.
- 18:01Speaker 11: So there were really a couple plays that I've watched
- 18:05Speaker 11: with the team. I'm like, this is not three. There
- 18:08Speaker 11: was three plays that I watched with the team where
- 18:09Speaker 11: I'm like, this is not acceptable. Yeah, on the fourth
- 18:15Speaker 11: and one touchdown where we got a taunting, not acceptable.
- 18:21Speaker 11: After the extra point where we got an unsportsmanlike, not okay.
- 18:26Speaker 11: And then the one that, uh, on Dallas where he
- 18:30Speaker 11: was blocking out of bounds. I really wasn't as mad
- 18:33Speaker 11: about that one. Cause I don't actually think he just
- 18:35Speaker 11: lost where he was. His wasn't, I don't think his
- 18:39Speaker 11: was intent. I think his was, he was engaged and
- 18:42Speaker 11: he was trying to be a bully in the run
- 18:45Speaker 11: game or be a bully on the perimeter and help
- 18:47Speaker 11: the ball carrier and just lost. I'm in the white
- 18:50Speaker 11: all of a sudden. And so his, I didn't really,
- 18:52Speaker 11: I don't think it was, um, um, an issue of
- 18:58Speaker 11: wanting to do right. I think it was as much
- 19:00Speaker 11: as awareness of, like, hang on, we're wearing the white now.
- 19:02Speaker 11: But those are the three that we can't do, ever.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You talked about coverage technique also after the Auburn game.
- 19:09Speaker 8: How important is that going to be to kind of
- 19:11Speaker 8: clean up and be on point against Fred Atcham?
- 19:13Speaker 11: You know, what's frustrating is I could make an eight-
- 19:16Speaker 11: to ten-play cut-up of some coverage stuff from Saturday night's game,
- 19:20Speaker 11: and you're like, man, we look really good. Like, how
- 19:23Speaker 11: about Kermani's pick? Like, really good. There was some great
- 19:28Speaker 11: play in there. Then there were, I can make eight
- 19:31Speaker 11: to ten more. The last touchdown they had makes me
- 19:35Speaker 11: want to puke watching it. Like it was, I mean,
- 19:40Speaker 11: just really bad football. And so what we have to
- 19:44Speaker 11: understand is in this game, at this level, as we
- 19:47Speaker 11: move on to this opponent this week, the margin for
- 19:52Speaker 11: error for us is so much smaller. Like there's some
- 19:55Speaker 11: things last week we tried to give the game away.
- 19:58Speaker 11: Like the Gators tried to beat the Gators some last week.
- 20:02Speaker 11: If we try to beat ourselves at all this week,
- 20:04Speaker 11: we will not win the game. And so we have
- 20:05Speaker 11: to just be more detailed. And you have to think,
- 20:09Speaker 11: in the mindset of every play, you are the challenged player.
- 20:13Speaker 11: There's never a playoff because as soon as you relax,
- 20:17Speaker 11: you're going to get exploited. And so that's, that's the
- 20:21Speaker 11: urgency we have to prepare with. That's the mindset we
- 20:23Speaker 11: have to prepare with. Our guys will respond. They're, they're
- 20:28Speaker 11: going to get there, but it's still lacking and we
- 20:31Speaker 11: have to improve.
- 20:32Speaker 18: You said Saturday that you'd use some of the outside
- 20:34Speaker 18: noise and, and disrespect to fuel the team coming into Auburn.
- 20:37Speaker 11: How long have you done that?
- 20:38Speaker 19: Is that something you typically do? I've been doing it
- 20:40Speaker 19: my whole life.
- 20:41Speaker 11: Yeah. Yeah, since I was a little kid, I've always–
- 20:44Speaker 11: I mean, I wasn't a very good player, but I
- 20:46Speaker 11: always made people– somebody told me I wasn't very good,
- 20:48Speaker 11: I was going to show them.
- 20:50Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 7: Do you use that this week?
- 20:51Speaker 18: I mean, you come into this week ranked and favored
- 20:55Speaker 18: against the top five team in the nation.
- 20:57Speaker 7: Do you use that doubt this week to fuel the team?
- 21:00Speaker 11: Who's got us favored against these guys?
- 21:03Speaker 13: Everybody.
- 21:03Speaker 18: Do they?
- 21:04Speaker 6: Do they?
- 21:05Speaker 11: There's a lot of good drugs out there, huh? I mean, yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 11: I did talk to our team about rankings in week
- 21:15Speaker 11: four mean nothing. Nobody posts anything up in the building
- 21:20Speaker 11: about this year's team where you're ranked in week four.
- 21:24Speaker 11: Nobody cares. And the same pats in the back you're getting,
- 21:28Speaker 11: if you go out and lay an egg, you're going
- 21:29Speaker 11: to be the same hands hitting you in the back
- 21:32Speaker 11: and there's going to be a knife in it. So,
- 21:34Speaker 11: you know, to me, I told our guys, like, ignore
- 21:39Speaker 11: all that. It's got nothing to do with– the goal
- 21:41Speaker 11: is how do we get to 1-0 each week? Well,
- 21:45Speaker 11: if we don't do a lot of self-improvement, we have
- 21:49Speaker 11: no shot this week. And so I didn't even know
- 21:53Speaker 11: the favorite deal, but whoever's doing that, man, I don't know.
- 22:00Speaker 11: I didn't watch tape. They got– the best quarterback in
- 22:05Speaker 11: college football, I think. He's a dude. And so they've
- 22:09Speaker 11: got a lot of great weapons. So we've got a
- 22:11Speaker 11: lot to work on ourselves.
- 22:13Speaker 6: This says a lot about the Swamp, though, doesn't it?
- 22:16Speaker 7: Like how difficult this place is to come.
- 22:18Speaker 11: In and win for anybody?
- 22:19Speaker 20: Yeah, I don't know.
- 22:21Speaker 11: We may get added points in Vegas for home field advantage,
- 22:24Speaker 11: like more than normal. But, yeah, it is. It's a
- 22:28Speaker 11: special place. You know, I haven't coached an SEC game
- 22:32Speaker 11: as the head coach here in that same year. We
- 22:35Speaker 11: put FAU and Campbell. I'm not knocking those opponents, but
- 22:40Speaker 11: you go out and you get ready for the Gator
- 22:43Speaker 11: Walk FAU game. I'm like, holy cow. This is electric.
- 22:47Speaker 11: I fully expect our fan base to be ready to
- 22:52Speaker 11: go and create as much havoc as they possibly can
- 22:56Speaker 11: and make it a tough place to play when we
- 22:58Speaker 11: play these big games like this one.
- 22:59Speaker 17: What makes Will Echols so special from what you saw
- 23:03Speaker 17: of him last year, and then the past rush growth,
- 23:05Speaker 17: it looks like he at least put on display against
- 23:07Speaker 17: LSU this week.
- 23:08Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, he's a violent, twitchy, physical guy. And
- 23:13Speaker 11: he's just– he's a handful. He can beat you with
- 23:17Speaker 11: his rush game in a lot of different ways too.
- 23:18Speaker 11: Like he's not just a– you know, some of the
- 23:21Speaker 11: big guys that play in the interior, they're just knockback players.
- 23:24Speaker 11: He can get loose and edgy, and he's got multiple
- 23:28Speaker 11: ways he can beat you.
- 23:30Speaker 21: Buster, you've given him credit for– being able to find
- 23:33Speaker 21: conflict defenders, put.
- 23:35Speaker 11: Defenders in conflict.
- 23:36Speaker 6: How nuanced is that?
- 23:37Speaker 18: Difficult.
- 23:38Speaker 7: Is that to draw up on a weekly basis?
- 23:41Speaker 11: So we'd run a lot of the same stuff week
- 23:45Speaker 11: to week. It's just out of different pictures.
- 23:46Speaker 14: Right.
- 23:46Speaker 11: And so it's, how do you create a picture that
- 23:50Speaker 11: can either violate somebody's eyes, like what they're seeing, or
- 23:53Speaker 11: maybe just put them in a leverage position that's compromised
- 23:57Speaker 11: to where it's like, all right, am I having to
- 23:58Speaker 11: play the runner of the pass? And if they have
- 24:00Speaker 11: to get into a bind, um, Our Buster and the
- 24:03Speaker 11: entire offensive staff do a great job of that. They
- 24:07Speaker 11: really do. I love watching what they do. I like
- 24:10Speaker 11: being able to go sit in our office staff room
- 24:12Speaker 11: and kick around what's going on in their brains. Occasionally
- 24:17Speaker 11: I throw something at them and they look at me
- 24:19Speaker 11: like I'm crazy. What Buster does so well is incorporation
- 24:25Speaker 11: of the staff ideas too. Great coordinators don't just go
- 24:30Speaker 11: in and do it on their own and go, all right, guys,
- 24:31Speaker 11: here's what we're doing, and give everybody the plan. He
- 24:34Speaker 11: takes feedback and tries to use everybody's brain in that
- 24:38Speaker 11: room to make our offense better. I've been so impressed
- 24:42Speaker 11: with his openness and willingness to listen to the room,
- 24:48Speaker 11: to create good ideas, and then just try to figure
- 24:52Speaker 11: out new ways to adapt and evolve and be creative.
- 24:56Speaker 17: Tailoring the offense to the talent?
- 24:58Speaker 7: This doesn't look like the Haynes King.
- 25:00Speaker 19: Offense at Georgia Tech. This doesn't look like what he
- 25:02Speaker 19: did before Georgia Tech.
- 25:03Speaker 11: I think it's what great offensive play callers do is,
- 25:07Speaker 11: all right, who do you have and how do you
- 25:09Speaker 11: use it and how do you lean into your strengths
- 25:12Speaker 11: and mitigate or offset your weakness? Obviously, like you said,
- 25:16Speaker 11: at Georgia Tech, there were some different strengths maybe than
- 25:18Speaker 11: what we have here. Maybe we have some different strengths
- 25:21Speaker 11: here that they didn't have there. I think it allows
- 25:23Speaker 11: you to shift and evolve. I think Buster's background. Um,
- 25:29Speaker 11: the nice thing is, uh, he has come up in
- 25:34Speaker 11: sort of the Mike Leach, how mummy world is a
- 25:38Speaker 11: youngster and then evolved by being exposed to different systems
- 25:44Speaker 11: that are not just air raid nature. And, um, so he's,
- 25:48Speaker 11: I think been grown by being exposed to a lot
- 25:52Speaker 11: of different things and then kind of making it one and,
- 25:57Speaker 11: You have to go into it with an open mind.
- 25:59Speaker 11: You can't ever go into it with a thought process
- 26:03Speaker 11: of knowing what you have until you have it. You
- 26:05Speaker 11: got to figure it out. And so he does a
- 26:06Speaker 11: great job.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That's John Summerall. And so far, Florida looks to be engaged,
- 26:15Speaker 2: well coached. They have the best running back in football.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Now that Kiwan Lacey is dinged up. And they are a.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Three-point favorite against Ole Miss on Saturday. Still trying to
- 26:34Speaker 2: get my head around that. But like I said, these
- 26:37Speaker 2: guys sometimes know what they're doing. We've got a high
- 26:41Speaker 2: school report coming up. We're going to hear from Mario Craver.
- 26:46Speaker 2: We've got our Clark Eisenhower outdoor edition coming up in
- 26:52Speaker 2: the second hour. For those of you who have pets,
- 26:57Speaker 2: and especially like dogs, you'll want to tune in. Because
- 27:04Speaker 2: we've got a little bit of that going on. In
- 27:11Speaker 2: case you missed it earlier, I will repeat. The Texas
- 27:15Speaker 2: Rangers are in first place in the AL West.
- 27:19Speaker 1: They beat the Mets.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Three to one this afternoon. Corey Seager actually had a
- 27:25Speaker 2: home run. Josh Young had, I think, three more hits.
- 27:30Speaker 2: He's the only one hitting. The only one hitting. They
- 27:36Speaker 2: go to Minnesota. Three games left. Astros baseball on Willie tonight.
- 27:45Speaker 2: They are in Sacramento with four against the A's. So that's...
- 27:53Speaker 2: That's kind of how things are shaking out. Texas at 79-80.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Houston at 78-80. But by the way, the Rangers cannot tie.
- 28:07Speaker 1: They have to.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Win the division because the Astros have the tiebreaker against
- 28:16Speaker 2: the Rangers. I said the first team to 81 will win.
- 28:21Speaker 2: That would put them at 500. That means the Rangers
- 28:24Speaker 2: would have to take two out of three in Minnesota.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I'll be honest with you. I'm not sure they're capable
- 28:31Speaker 2: of taking two out of three from anyone at this point.
- 28:37Speaker 2: They are on fumes. They're pitching staff. They pieced it
- 28:42Speaker 2: together today. Fortunately, they were playing the Mets. And we'll
- 28:46Speaker 2: see what happens with the Astros. Josh Hader lost a
- 28:49Speaker 2: game last night. The Seattles, in case you missed it
- 28:55Speaker 2: early this morning, with a walk-off 6-5 win in the
- 29:00Speaker 2: 10th inning. So the Astros split that series. Four left
- 29:05Speaker 2: with Oakland. Normally it's just a really exciting time of year,
- 29:11Speaker 2: but This has been a hard team for me to
- 29:16Speaker 2: like this year. It has just been a brutal, long
- 29:21Speaker 2: baseball season. I don't know about Astro fans if you
- 29:24Speaker 2: say the same thing. I know you're used to winning, too.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Used to winning, period. This Rangers team has just been
- 29:35Speaker 2: darn near impossible to try to watch this season.
- 29:39Speaker 10: And they did.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Never mind, never mind. I'm not going to start. I
- 29:43Speaker 2: could go into some stuff today that we've seen all
- 29:46Speaker 2: year long. So I'll just, I'll let it go at that.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you about Galleria. Galleria Day Spa
- 29:56Speaker 2: on Rock Prairie Road. Galleria Spa Salon at Century Square.

- 31:05Speaker 12: This is C & J Barbecue.
- 31:08Speaker 11: Okay, so for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lights,
- 31:12Speaker 11: maybe a.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Do kids eat free?
- 31:14Speaker 5: Uh, yes.
- 31:14Speaker 6: Like, actually free?
- 31:16Speaker 9: Yes, every Wednesday night.
- 31:17Speaker 22: So I can get free barbecue?
- 31:19Speaker 11: That's how kids eat free works, buddy.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Wednesday's my favorite day now!
- 31:23Speaker 6: See? No fog machine needed.
- 31:25Speaker 14: Oh, man.
- 31:26Speaker 12: Kids eat free every Wednesday night at C & J Barbecue.
- 31:29Speaker 5: Great food, happy kids, C & J Barbecue. Because dinner
- 31:33Speaker 5: shouldn't be another battle.

- 32:07Speaker 10: Well, I've heard those city singers singing about how they
- 32:16Speaker 10: can love.
- 32:37Speaker 23: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 32:40Speaker 23: today we're jumping out to the Polaris Fun Center phone
- 32:42Speaker 23: line to visit with the head coach of the Rudder
- 32:45Speaker 23: Rangers football team, Mr.
- 32:46Speaker 19: Eric Izar. Coach, thanks for joining me today.
- 32:50Speaker 6: Thank you for having me.
- 32:52Speaker 23: So the last time we talked was almost two months
- 32:54Speaker 23: ago now, but we are four weeks into the season.
- 32:58Speaker 23: Your Rangers sitting at 3-1 in non-district play, the only
- 33:02Speaker 23: loss of the season by eight points on the road
- 33:05Speaker 23: in Jacksonville, so a very strong start to the season.
- 33:08Speaker 19: What have been some keys to success for Rutters so far?
- 33:12Speaker 6: Well, you know, I think, you know, when we talked earlier,
- 33:14Speaker 6: you know, we had a young team last year. The
- 33:16Speaker 6: guys are growing up.
- 33:17Speaker 12: Even a so-called minor car wreck could turn your life
- 33:23Speaker 12: upside down.
- 33:25Speaker 23: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 33:28Speaker 23: today we're jumping out to the Polaris Fun Center phone
- 33:30Speaker 23: line to visit with the head coach of the Rudder
- 33:32Speaker 23: Rangers football team, Mr.
- 33:34Speaker 19: Eric Izar. Coach, thanks for joining me today.
- 33:38Speaker 6: Thank you for having me.
- 33:40Speaker 23: So the last time we talked was almost two months
- 33:42Speaker 23: ago now, um, but we are four weeks into the season.
- 33:46Speaker 23: Your Rangers sitting at three and one in non-district play, uh,
- 33:50Speaker 23: the only loss of the season by eight points on
- 33:53Speaker 23: the road in Jacksonville. So a very strong start to
- 33:55Speaker 23: the season, uh, what have been some keys to success
- 33:58Speaker 23: for rudder so far?
- 34:00Speaker 6: Well, you know, I think, you know, when we talked earlier,
- 34:02Speaker 6: you know, we had a young team last year, the
- 34:04Speaker 6: guys are growing up, uh, you know, they've been working
- 34:07Speaker 6: really hard. We really thought we'd come out and have
- 34:09Speaker 6: a good chance to be three and one. Everything worked out.
- 34:12Speaker 6: You know, we're hoping to be four and oh, I
- 34:14Speaker 6: think Jacksonville is a game we should have won. You know,
- 34:17Speaker 6: but sometimes they, you know, when you lose, it teaches
- 34:19Speaker 6: good lessons about like not getting the big head. I
- 34:21Speaker 6: think kids are so excited to be two and oh,
- 34:23Speaker 6: and you know, they hadn't been two and oh in
- 34:25Speaker 6: a while. And so they kind of forgot what it takes,
- 34:27Speaker 6: the work you got to put in to be three
- 34:29Speaker 6: and oh. So we got, we got humbled a little bit.
- 34:32Speaker 6: And so, you know, and then to go out this
- 34:34Speaker 6: week and, Have a big win against Bryan High. Really
- 34:36Speaker 6: proud of the kids.
- 34:38Speaker 23: And that win against Bryan, the first time the Crosstown
- 34:41Speaker 23: rivalry game has been played since 2017, and your Rangers
- 34:46Speaker 23: defend the trophy and keep it at Rudder High School.
- 34:51Speaker 23: It was a very exciting game, a comeback win after
- 34:55Speaker 23: being down by multiple scores at halftime and ended up
- 34:58Speaker 23: winning 40-34. So, You know, what did you say at
- 35:03Speaker 23: halftime that lit the fire under your players there in
- 35:07Speaker 23: the second half?
- 35:09Speaker 6: Well, you know, I just told them, first of all,
- 35:10Speaker 6: the hard part was over. You know, I think there
- 35:12Speaker 6: was a lot of nerves out there. I mean, I
- 35:14Speaker 6: don't think our kids have played in front of 6,000
- 35:15Speaker 6: or 7,000 people ever. And so I'm a little nervous,
- 35:19Speaker 6: you know, trying to live up to all the hype
- 35:21Speaker 6: and all that stuff. And, you know, I told them
- 35:23Speaker 6: it was real simple. I said, you know, I talked
- 35:25Speaker 6: about earlier in the week that, you know, memorable games
- 35:28Speaker 6: that I've been part of and, and uh when i
- 35:31Speaker 6: first got here we had played montgomery and we never
- 35:33Speaker 6: beat montgomery and they got up on us like 27
- 35:36Speaker 6: to 7 and we came back and beat them 56
- 35:39Speaker 6: to 51 so i reminded him about that but i
- 35:41Speaker 6: said it's real simple guys uh we get the ball
- 35:43Speaker 6: which is great so if we can come out and
- 35:45Speaker 6: make a big play the fans are going to go
- 35:47Speaker 6: crazy so all you got to do is make one
- 35:49Speaker 6: big play go score and the momentum will turn i
- 35:52Speaker 6: said defense now i gotta y'all to get out there
- 35:54Speaker 6: and y'all make a big play get a turnover i
- 35:56Speaker 6: said man Before you know it, it's going to be
- 35:58Speaker 6: going crazy. I said, when everybody's going crazy, y'all got
- 36:00Speaker 6: to stay calm because it's going to happen. And, you know,
- 36:03Speaker 6: it's just pretty much, you know, what I said happened.
- 36:05Speaker 6: First play, we get a long run from Jack Scherringer,
- 36:09Speaker 6: and he goes and scores. And then, you know, we
- 36:11Speaker 6: stop him and block a punt. Aidan Gray blocks the punt,
- 36:14Speaker 6: and Peterson picks it up for a touchdown, and here
- 36:17Speaker 6: we go. We're in the game.
- 36:19Speaker 23: Yeah, you mentioned Jack Scheringer was a very big part
- 36:23Speaker 23: of the offense on Friday night, going for 259 yards
- 36:26Speaker 23: and two touchdowns.
- 36:28Speaker 19: What allowed him to have such a big game against Bryant?
- 36:31Speaker 6: Well, you know, he's been playing like that all year, and,
- 36:34Speaker 6: you know, I think he had a lot to prove.
- 36:36Speaker 6: You know, he moved over here from Bryant High about
- 36:38Speaker 6: two years ago, and, you know, his brother played over there,
- 36:42Speaker 6: was a really good running back over there, and he's
- 36:44Speaker 6: kind of been living in his shadow, and he kind
- 36:45Speaker 6: of wanted to come out of that shadow and show
- 36:47Speaker 6: how good he is, and and did a really good job.
- 36:49Speaker 6: I think, you know, you've got to give a tip
- 36:51Speaker 6: of the hat to the offensive line. They've been blocking
- 36:53Speaker 6: really good and making big holes, and Jack's been running
- 36:56Speaker 6: through them. And so we've had some big explosive plays.
- 36:59Speaker 23: I actually was at the game, and it was a very,
- 37:03Speaker 23: very electric atmosphere. You know, how much does it mean
- 37:06Speaker 23: to you to be able to play that game and
- 37:09Speaker 23: have such a great environment with everybody from the two
- 37:12Speaker 23: schools showing up and showing out?
- 37:15Speaker 6: It's great. I mean, you know, as a head coach,
- 37:17Speaker 6: sometimes I don't like the week before, like leading up
- 37:19Speaker 6: to it with all the distraction and, you know, and,
- 37:22Speaker 6: you know, we're one town and, you know, just trying
- 37:24Speaker 6: to be sure our kids aren't doing silly stuff on
- 37:26Speaker 6: social media and all that kind of stuff. That part
- 37:30Speaker 6: I could do without, but man, when it, when they
- 37:32Speaker 6: turn the lights on and you see the crowd and,
- 37:35Speaker 6: and it was very electric and a fun game to
- 37:38Speaker 6: be part of and definitely a memorable win for a
- 37:41Speaker 6: rudder high school.
- 37:42Speaker 19: Absolutely.
- 37:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:43Speaker 23: It's always great when you, Rarely in high school football
- 37:46Speaker 23: do you see both sides of the stadium be so full.
- 37:50Speaker 23: But looking ahead to the rest of the season, I've
- 37:55Speaker 23: got your final game of non-district play on deck here
- 37:59Speaker 23: as you get ready to take on the Elgin Wildcats
- 38:03Speaker 23: at home in Merrill Green Stadium.
- 38:05Speaker 19: So what do you expect to see from them, Coach?
- 38:07Speaker 2: Worried.
- 38:08Speaker 6: You know, I put a picture of a rat trying
- 38:12Speaker 6: to get cheese out of a mousetrap. It's a trap game.
- 38:15Speaker 6: I've been talking about it all week. Don't eat the cheese.
- 38:17Speaker 6: Don't eat the cheese. Everybody's patting, you know, rudder on
- 38:20Speaker 6: the back right now. How good you are, man. You
- 38:22Speaker 6: beat a 6A team. You're just 5A. You know, you
- 38:25Speaker 6: beat a team two divisions above you. So I'm trying
- 38:28Speaker 6: to be sure they don't get the big head. They
- 38:29Speaker 6: don't eat the cheese. And, you know, I mean, you
- 38:32Speaker 6: can see it all around. You know, it happened to
- 38:35Speaker 6: the Aggies this weekend when they got beat by Kentucky.
- 38:38Speaker 6: You know, you just can't look past. It's a trap game.
- 38:40Speaker 6: And so hopefully we'll go out and they'll listen and
- 38:43Speaker 6: they'll go play their heart out because we haven't played
- 38:45Speaker 6: a complete game that we need to yet. And so
- 38:47Speaker 6: hopefully we can do that tomorrow night.
- 38:49Speaker 23: So being in, you know, a little bit of a
- 38:51Speaker 23: smaller district with six teams, meaning you get to play
- 38:55Speaker 23: exactly half of your games, non-district and the other half district.
- 39:00Speaker 23: How big of an advantage is that for you as
- 39:01Speaker 23: a coach to have those five games to get tuned
- 39:06Speaker 23: up and to learn your team before district comes around?
- 39:09Speaker 6: I think it's really good, and I think the nice
- 39:11Speaker 6: thing is having that mid-year break. I mean, so after
- 39:13Speaker 6: this game, we'll have a week break, you know, where
- 39:15Speaker 6: we don't play anybody a bye week and get rested up,
- 39:18Speaker 6: so I think that's great. I said, you know, but
- 39:20Speaker 6: just because it's six teams, we've got some really good
- 39:23Speaker 6: six teams. I mean, I think Brenham's probably one of the,
- 39:25Speaker 6: you know, top teams in the state in any classification.
- 39:29Speaker 6: You know, Belton's a really good team. Colleen Ellison, University
- 39:32Speaker 6: beat Brenham last year. You know, so you're looking at
- 39:35Speaker 6: some just really good teams in the district. So we
- 39:38Speaker 6: got our hands full, and we got to go win
- 39:41Speaker 6: the game we got before us tomorrow against Elgin and
- 39:44Speaker 6: beat the guys we can beat.
- 39:46Speaker 23: So you mentioned that you haven't really played a– fully
- 39:49Speaker 23: complete game yet this year. What are, what are some
- 39:53Speaker 23: things that you think are your biggest strengths and then
- 39:55Speaker 23: maybe your biggest weaknesses as well?
- 39:58Speaker 6: Well, I mean, I think that, you know, we have
- 40:01Speaker 6: been running the ball really well. I think that's one
- 40:03Speaker 6: of our strengths, our offensive line. I think our defensive
- 40:05Speaker 6: line is one of our strengths. I still don't think
- 40:08Speaker 6: that they have really played as good as they can play.
- 40:11Speaker 6: and just really shutting somebody down. I think we have
- 40:15Speaker 6: a defense that could give up less than 10 points
- 40:17Speaker 6: a game and get the shutout maybe. We haven't done
- 40:20Speaker 6: that defensively yet. I think we're good enough to do that.
- 40:23Speaker 6: And then offensively, I think we ran the ball by,
- 40:26Speaker 6: I mean, we rushed over 300 yards rushing against Brian. But,
- 40:30Speaker 6: you know, we didn't throw the ball as good as
- 40:32Speaker 6: we need to. And so to beat the teams we
- 40:34Speaker 6: need in district, we're going to have to be good
- 40:35Speaker 6: on offense, defense, special teams defensively. be able to run
- 40:39Speaker 6: the ball, throw the ball, you know, and so it's
- 40:41Speaker 6: just really tuning ourselves up to get ready for district.
- 40:45Speaker 23: And being three and one, even though it is non-district
- 40:48Speaker 23: games that, you know, those aren't the ones that count
- 40:51Speaker 23: towards making the playoffs, but having that positive record, how
- 40:55Speaker 23: much does that help your players' mindset coming into district
- 40:58Speaker 23: play and getting ready to try to get the Rangers
- 41:01Speaker 23: back to the playoffs?
- 41:02Speaker 6: Well, you know, I think it's really big. I mean,
- 41:04Speaker 6: you know, I was telling the kids today, I mean,
- 41:06Speaker 6: last year when I was talking about how good we
- 41:09Speaker 6: could be, I knew, kept saying, hey, we're really young.
- 41:11Speaker 6: We're really young. Because I knew we weren't going to
- 41:13Speaker 6: be very good because we were very young. We played
- 41:15Speaker 6: 15 sophomores. We played three freshmen. And we're still pretty
- 41:19Speaker 6: young because now those sophomores are juniors and then those
- 41:22Speaker 6: freshmen are sophomores now. And so we're still learning as
- 41:26Speaker 6: we go. But the good thing about it is, is
- 41:29Speaker 6: that we're a little bit more seasoned and Got a
- 41:32Speaker 6: little bit more experience. And, you know, just being able
- 41:36Speaker 6: to walk the halls and have won three games and
- 41:38Speaker 6: beat Brian High makes their day just a little bit better,
- 41:42Speaker 6: makes them practice a little bit harder, makes them feel
- 41:44Speaker 6: good about themselves. And, you know, there's a old saying,
- 41:47Speaker 6: if you think you can or you can't, you're right.
- 41:49Speaker 6: And so right now, hopefully we think we can and
- 41:52Speaker 6: we'll be able to do that.
- 41:53Speaker 23: All right, Coach, well, I appreciate your time today and
- 41:56Speaker 23: good luck this week against Elgin and the rest of
- 41:58Speaker 23: the season.
- 41:59Speaker 6: Thank you so much.

- 44:15Speaker 22: With your Houston Astros report, I'm Dylan Moore. The Astros
- 44:18Speaker 22: fall to the Mariners in extra innings as the AL
- 44:21Speaker 22: West race tightens up. Details next.
- 44:25Speaker 19: Drinking and driving, that's the DWI.
- 44:28Speaker 13: THC and driving, DWI.
- 44:31Speaker 19: But it's not just alcohol and THC.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Pills.
- 44:35Speaker 19: Benzos.
- 44:36Speaker 24: Molly.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Meth.
- 44:38Speaker 11: Fentanyl.
- 44:39Speaker 6: If it alters your mind, it impairs your driving.
- 44:43Speaker 1: And that puts everyone on the road at risk.
- 44:46Speaker 19: Any highs is a DWI.
- 44:49Speaker 24: Drive sober.
- 44:50Speaker 9: No regrets.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Sponsored by TxDOT.
- 44:55Speaker 22: The Houston Astros played game two of the two-game series
- 44:58Speaker 22: last night against the Mariners and took a commanding lead early,
- 45:01Speaker 22: scoring four in the third, including a Yandy Diaz home run. However,
- 45:05Speaker 22: Seattle would answer right back with three of their own
- 45:07Speaker 22: and tied the game in the fifth with yet another run.
- 45:10Speaker 22: The game would go into extra innings, and Houston would
- 45:12Speaker 22: score via a Yandy Diaz triple, but in the bottom
- 45:15Speaker 22: of the ninth, Josh Hader walked three batters to tie
- 45:18Speaker 22: the game, and with the bases loaded, Josh Naylor was
- 45:21Speaker 22: the walk-off hero. Outfield shallow, first pitch to Naylor, and
- 45:25Speaker 22: he lifts that into center, and that's a base hit
- 45:28Speaker 22: to win the game.
- 45:29Speaker 10: 6-5 Mariners in 10.
- 45:32Speaker 22: The Astros are now tied with the Rangers for the
- 45:34Speaker 22: AL West lead with 78 wins and 80 losses. Tonight,
- 45:38Speaker 22: they played the Athletics with the first pitch scheduled for 840.
- 45:41Speaker 22: With your Houston Astros report, I'm Dylan Moore.
- 45:45Speaker 20: Howdy, this is Aaron Fletcher with Citizen State Bank, fighting
- 45:48Speaker 20: Texas Aggie class of 1999. Here at Citizen State Bank,
- 45:52Speaker 20: we're proud to stand.

- 46:10Speaker 20: local people, local decisions, since 1925. Member FDIC.
- 46:19Speaker 19: It started way back in third grade.
- 46:23Speaker 10: I used to sit beside him in new haze.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us on a Thursday afternoon, Saturday night,
- 46:32Speaker 2: Death Valley, 630 Aggies LSU with Ashton Bethel-Roman likely out,
- 46:42Speaker 2: Bussey out.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Um, So we've got Horton, got Craver. Craver had, I think.
- 46:53Speaker 2: 19 targets last week, caught 11.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Probably have to come close to that this week.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Yesterday, Mario met with members of the media and answered
- 47:07Speaker 2: a few questions.
- 47:13Speaker 26: Honestly, just being able to finish drives, I think, A
- 47:16Speaker 26: lot of our drives, we ended up in the red zone,
- 47:18Speaker 26: ended up getting points. I think our main thing right
- 47:21Speaker 26: now is being able to finish drives in the red zone.
- 47:24Speaker 6: Just being able to finish drives where we got in
- 47:27Speaker 6: the red zone, drives where we had momentum. Just being
- 47:29Speaker 6: able to finish.
- 47:30Speaker 14: After the game, Marcel, he says he needs to improve
- 47:32Speaker 14: on kind of the way of the passes, the easy passes.
- 47:35Speaker 14: Is that something that you've seen him struggle with in
- 47:37Speaker 14: practice at all, or is that something kind of exclusive.
- 47:39Speaker 11: To that game?
- 47:40Speaker 26: Honestly, I think it was just exclusive to that game.
- 47:42Speaker 26: I think, honestly, he just got a little bit inside
- 47:45Speaker 26: his head that game, honestly. Like, honestly, Marcel, he... Throughout
- 47:50Speaker 26: the season, I told y'all, he's got a lot better,
- 47:51Speaker 26: and I'm not going to back on that. He's definitely
- 47:54Speaker 26: got a lot better in every aspect of the game.
- 47:56Speaker 26: I think last week, he just got in his head
- 47:58Speaker 26: a little bit and let the game get away from
- 48:00Speaker 26: him a little bit, and we're ready to build on
- 48:02Speaker 26: that and go back in the next week.
- 48:04Speaker 14: You had 19 targets in the game. What was the URL?
- 48:08Speaker 9: Was it 19? Yeah, 19 targets in the game.
- 48:11Speaker 7: Do you feel when you.
- 48:12Speaker 14: Have guys like Terry and Ashton go down that you
- 48:14Speaker 14: need to kind of step up and carry some of
- 48:17Speaker 14: that load on.
- 48:17Speaker 26: Yourself and Oh, yeah, most definitely. Everyone knows Terry and ABR,
- 48:21Speaker 26: they're a big piece to the offense, a big piece
- 48:23Speaker 26: to the team. So with them going down, obviously someone's
- 48:27Speaker 26: had to pick up the load, pick up whatever they
- 48:30Speaker 26: were doing. So honestly, just being able to just do
- 48:34Speaker 26: what I do, honestly, keep playing, and Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 6: That's it.
- 48:39Speaker 27: To that point, it sounded like maybe on the broadcast
- 48:41Speaker 27: they said that you had texted Wiggins earlier in the
- 48:43Speaker 27: week and more or less asked for more targets.
- 48:46Speaker 7: Was that the case? And if so, why did you
- 48:48Speaker 7: feel compelled to reach out to him?
- 48:50Speaker 26: I mean, honestly, me and Coach Wigg, I told y'all,
- 48:52Speaker 26: that's been my guy since eighth grade. Me and him,
- 48:54Speaker 26: we have that relationship. I don't think there's too much
- 48:57Speaker 26: to look into that. Honestly, that's the type of relationship
- 49:00Speaker 26: me and Wigg have.
- 49:01Speaker 9: And this is it.
- 49:03Speaker 27: Marcel had also told us that some of his maybe
- 49:05Speaker 27: struggles have been mental.
- 49:07Speaker 7: How have you seen him try to maybe overcome those?
- 49:09Speaker 27: And how you as a teammate have maybe tried to
- 49:11Speaker 27: encourage him in that way?
- 49:13Speaker 26: Just coming to him, talking to him, letting him know
- 49:15Speaker 26: I got his back, letting him know whatever happens on any.
- 49:18Speaker 6: Drive, I got him next drive.
- 49:20Speaker 26: We have to go play for each other, honestly. No
- 49:22Speaker 26: matter what happens, no matter what he do, no matter
- 49:24Speaker 26: what decision he make, I'm still gonna have to play
- 49:25Speaker 26: with him, I'm still gonna have to be his quarterback.
- 49:27Speaker 6: He's still gonna have to be my quarterback, I'm still
- 49:28Speaker 6: gonna have to be receiver.
- 49:30Speaker 26: I got his back, he got my back, and we're
- 49:32Speaker 26: in this thing all 12 games, all how.
- 49:34Speaker 6: Many games it is.
- 49:35Speaker 2: I haven't had as many explosive big plays as you
- 49:38Speaker 2: had in.
- 49:38Speaker 7: This time of year. Why do you think that might be?
- 49:42Speaker 8: And are y'all still looking to the same kind of
- 49:44Speaker 8: explosive offense as you were last year?
- 49:46Speaker 14: Oh, yeah.
- 49:46Speaker 26: Honestly, it's just a slow start, honestly. We know that
- 49:51Speaker 26: this offense has the capability of doing what they did
- 49:53Speaker 26: last year. And, like, shoot, it's not– I don't think
- 49:56Speaker 26: it's a play call.
- 49:57Speaker 20: I don't think it's anything.
- 49:58Speaker 26: I just think we have to execute better, I think,
- 50:00Speaker 26: as a team, as a– as a receiver group, as
- 50:04Speaker 26: a quarterback group, as a running back group, we all
- 50:05Speaker 26: have to execute better.
- 50:06Speaker 12: That's it.
- 50:07Speaker 2: You feel like, I mean, now that you've got that
- 50:09Speaker 2: one loss in SEC play, you're going over to LSU.
- 50:12Speaker 6: I mean, is there a.
- 50:13Speaker 11: Sense of urgency? Oh, yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 14: How much of a sense of urgency?
- 50:15Speaker 6: Oh, definitely.
- 50:16Speaker 26: We definitely made it harder on ourselves to make this
- 50:20Speaker 26: run on the year, but we're.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Ready for it, and shoot. We made the decision to
- 50:24Speaker 6: go out.
- 50:25Speaker 26: There and play bad on Saturday against Kentucky, so we have.
- 50:28Speaker 6: To make the decision to go out there and clean
- 50:30Speaker 6: it up.
- 50:30Speaker 7: Do you ever feel like you're open with the ball
- 50:32Speaker 7: in the company, and if that's the case, do you
- 50:35Speaker 7: frustrate them? Do you have to talk to them before someone?
- 50:38Speaker 26: I mean, honestly... Whenever the ball goes, I let it go,
- 50:46Speaker 26: get to them when the drive's over. After the drive's over,
- 50:49Speaker 26: talk to them. We'll talk about whatever we see on
- 50:51Speaker 26: the drive. But honestly, you can't really let it get
- 50:54Speaker 26: into your head and play by play.
- 50:55Speaker 6: Because that's how you're going to mess up the next play.
- 50:57Speaker 1: A couple of injuries, you know, the wide receiver and
- 51:00Speaker 1: the running back run.
- 51:01Speaker 12: Who do you think.
- 51:02Speaker 7: Can step up? You know, the class nurse, we haven't
- 51:04Speaker 7: seen a lot of playing.
- 51:04Speaker 11: Time with both of them.
- 51:06Speaker 26: I told y'all, y'all going to get a chance to
- 51:07Speaker 26: see all these young guys that we got, AG, Jaden, TK,
- 51:11Speaker 26: all those guys, they'll finally get a chance now since
- 51:14Speaker 26: Terry and ABR are a little banged up. But we
- 51:16Speaker 26: have guys in the backfield and in the receiver room
- 51:19Speaker 26: that can make plays, and y'all going to see. We
- 51:21Speaker 26: just have to get those guys comfortable, I think, get
- 51:24Speaker 26: them confident. They can play.
- 51:27Speaker 6: I don't think they're really as confident as they will be.
- 51:29Speaker 26: Anyone, honestly, coming in as a freshman, playing in the
- 51:33Speaker 26: SEC as a freshman.
- 51:35Speaker 11: Not a lot of people do that.
- 51:36Speaker 26: So, like, we're just trying to make them as comfortable
- 51:38Speaker 26: as we can so they can go out there and
- 51:41Speaker 26: be themselves.
- 51:41Speaker 7: Were you unconfident when you were a freshman at Mississippi State?
- 51:44Speaker 6: Honestly, I was.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Like, honestly, like, playing at.
- 51:47Speaker 26: A big stage against big teams as a freshman, especially
- 51:51Speaker 26: when you're not expecting.
- 51:52Speaker 6: It, it can get a little nerve-wracking. But them boys,
- 51:55Speaker 6: they're ballplayers.
- 51:56Speaker 11: So they'll handle it well.
- 51:57Speaker 7: How do you build that confidence? Like, if you were
