- 0:00Speaker 1: I'll start Toyota Presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:03Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn. Hester and Hester got it by a
- 0:08Speaker 1: foe from carrying each other to and Natty to carrying
- 0:11Speaker 1: each other on the air well, there's brought control for
- 0:15Speaker 1: the live from the Raisin Kines studio. It's Off the Bench.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Welcome back in our un three of ot B here
- 0:43Speaker 2: live from the Raising Kings Studio. All right, a lot
- 0:49Speaker 2: of things to show in a lot of reason why
- 0:53Speaker 2: we got to the score line that we did Saturday
- 0:56Speaker 2: night in Tiger Stadium. Before we get to some of
- 1:01Speaker 2: the things that Matt's going to point out, I do
- 1:03Speaker 2: want to pull up because we talk about attacking certain
- 1:09Speaker 2: areas of the field, and if you listen to us
- 1:11Speaker 2: on the broadcast, it was something like it had to
- 1:14Speaker 2: be said, the middle of the football field was just
- 1:18Speaker 2: closed and it can't ever be closed at any level
- 1:22Speaker 2: of football, but certainly the college game. Why do you
- 1:26Speaker 2: say that? In the NFL the hashes are really close,
- 1:28Speaker 2: So if you don't attack the middle of the field,
- 1:30Speaker 2: like you're gonna lose. But it's like, okay, well you
- 1:33Speaker 2: know it's tight quarters down there. Whatever, The hashesn't.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Cost football or a mile wide, you know, a mile wide?
- 1:41Speaker 2: And I mean, how do I know? Because I've seen
- 1:45Speaker 2: about seventy six hitch routes be thrown from one hash
- 1:51Speaker 2: to the other sideline this year, and I realized how long.
- 1:54Speaker 4: With throw so many, it's in the hair for such
- 1:56Speaker 4: a long time. Why the middle of the field is
- 1:58Speaker 4: like always say it. I'm gonna say it, and you're
- 2:00Speaker 4: going to get tired of me saying it over the
- 2:03Speaker 4: next one hundred years of us doing this show award
- 2:06Speaker 4: winning the fastest way to the end zones over the
- 2:10Speaker 4: middle of the field. Why, Well, there's a lot of
- 2:13Speaker 4: different reasons. Why Because it's where you catch defensive players, linebackers,
- 2:17Speaker 4: defensive back safeties and transition the most. What's transition, it's
- 2:23Speaker 4: there's a couple of different ways of transit. One the
- 2:25Speaker 4: main way is when a defensive back or linebacker goes
- 2:29Speaker 4: from a back pedal to having to flip his hips
- 2:31Speaker 4: and turn and transition into a forward run. When he
- 2:34Speaker 4: has to transition from looking at a play fake to
- 2:37Speaker 4: react into now pass, when he has to transition from
- 2:40Speaker 4: moving left to right. There's a lot of transition, so
- 2:43Speaker 4: there's a lot of windows out there. There's a lot
- 2:47Speaker 4: of gaps and oh yeah, the balls in the air
- 2:48Speaker 4: less time, they're easier throws for the quarterback. People are
- 2:52Speaker 4: usually running full speed, either across the middle or up
- 2:56Speaker 4: the field when you do a lot of passes towards
- 2:58Speaker 4: the sideline, which of course you have to passes to
- 3:00Speaker 4: the sideline. We're not saying that that's great. We hit
- 3:02Speaker 4: a deep ball, that was great, We hit some stuff
- 3:06Speaker 4: to that, but that can't be your only way of
- 3:08Speaker 4: attacking in a passing game, and we just we did
- 3:11Speaker 4: that too often. Most of the times, when you throw
- 3:12Speaker 4: it out to the outside, you're throwing a comeback, a
- 3:14Speaker 4: hit ra you're catching it from a stop position. That's
- 3:17Speaker 4: my issue with a lot of our opos and our
- 3:19Speaker 4: wide receiver screens is the wide receivers are catching it
- 3:21Speaker 4: from a stopped position and having to go from zero
- 3:24Speaker 4: to sixty after they get the ball in their hands
- 3:26Speaker 4: with people running full speed at them. The most successful
- 3:29Speaker 4: wider skimes are when they're coming, they're they're on the run.
- 3:33Speaker 4: But when you attack the middle of the field, you're
- 3:35Speaker 4: stressing their zones. You're stressing their zone principles, and when
- 3:40Speaker 4: they play man, you're stressing the middle of the field.
- 3:43Speaker 4: It also prevents them. Well I'm not gonna say it
- 3:46Speaker 4: prevents them, but it makes defensives more hesitant of rushing
- 3:50Speaker 4: people up the middle the best way. Do you heard
- 3:52Speaker 4: Saban talk about it in a game day. The best
- 3:53Speaker 4: way to rush a quarterback is not necessarily from the outside.
- 3:56Speaker 4: It's rushing up the a gap and the beatap. For sure,
- 3:59Speaker 4: if you make that platform away, you take up the step.
- 4:02Speaker 4: But like so if the if you're attacking, if you're
- 4:04Speaker 4: blitzing up the middle of the field, then you're exposing
- 4:09Speaker 4: the middle of the field for for past coverage.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Yeah, we just never did that. The fastest way.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Good offenses, the best offenses, no matter what level you are,
- 4:19Speaker 4: have a passing chart that is just peppered over the
- 4:23Speaker 4: middle of the field. Hey, CAF, you pull up our
- 4:25Speaker 4: passing charte. This is the passing chart from this game.
- 4:26Speaker 4: And look, we're talking about this because of course the
- 4:28Speaker 4: coaching change we just got there, that's official. Joe Sloan
- 4:32Speaker 4: has now been relieved of his duties, so we will
- 4:34Speaker 4: have a new offensive coordinator.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, but we want to show you, like why it
- 4:38Speaker 2: was bad, why it didn't work, like what things went wrong,
- 4:41Speaker 2: because there's there's enough talent on this team that it
- 4:45Speaker 2: should have been better. It should have Now, some of
- 4:47Speaker 2: this falls in the players, without question, but.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Not, I mean not the middle of the field thing.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Say not not this because like I went back and
- 4:58Speaker 2: it's not one of those situations where like should hit
- 5:01Speaker 2: it over the middle. You gotta hit you gotta get
- 5:03Speaker 2: to your back foot and hit that over the middle. No,
- 5:06Speaker 2: here is the passing charge. So as you see there
- 5:10Speaker 2: right that blue line right there, that is the line
- 5:13Speaker 2: of scrimmage.
- 5:14Speaker 3: So over the middle of the football field.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You had one pass that was caught inside the hashes,
- 5:21Speaker 2: one a single pass. You had some check down Charlie
- 5:25Speaker 2: stuff right there within five yards.
- 5:27Speaker 5: That was an that was an Aaron Anderson pass.
- 5:29Speaker 4: That one that's right at ten yards on the right
- 5:31Speaker 4: hasse that was an Aaron Anderson pass.
- 5:33Speaker 5: That was an explosive. You got another one that.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Was Treds was right on the hash.
- 5:37Speaker 4: The trade does around that. So that was Van Buren
- 5:39Speaker 4: coming in first play, ripping a seam right there. But look,
- 5:43Speaker 4: you have let's see one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 5:45Speaker 4: seven completions behind the line of scrimmage. You have another
- 5:48Speaker 4: one two, three, four, five, six, seven, almost eight that
- 5:52Speaker 4: are five yards are under then a lot of incompletions
- 5:55Speaker 4: towards the sideline. We got a deep pass complete? Did
- 5:58Speaker 4: we hit one on time? I'm three steps one hitch
- 6:02Speaker 4: released the ball. And for all you ball knowers out there,
- 6:05Speaker 4: what do we always talk about? A properly executed go
- 6:08Speaker 4: route or a deep ball is completed at how many.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yards between thirty eight and forty two?
- 6:13Speaker 5: Yep?
- 6:14Speaker 4: And what is that one that's exactly thirty eight? So
- 6:16Speaker 4: properly executed you would look at that one and be like,
- 6:18Speaker 4: it's perfectly on time. Well run, great job, great play, boom.
- 6:22Speaker 4: But the lack so and we went I went back
- 6:24Speaker 4: and pulled the passing chart from last season with the
- 6:27Speaker 4: LSU offense.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Now it's crazy.
- 6:29Speaker 4: It just looks like it's got freckles everywhere, like it's
- 6:31Speaker 4: looking at a whole season passing charts.
- 6:33Speaker 5: A little overwhelming, but.
- 6:36Speaker 3: A lot of dots. Although there's a portion of the
- 6:38Speaker 3: field that doesn't have a.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Lot, Yeah there was last season there was more passes
- 6:42Speaker 4: completed in between the hashes than any other third on
- 6:47Speaker 4: the field. So I'm looking at the left side of
- 6:49Speaker 4: the field, middle of the field, right side of the field.
- 6:51Speaker 4: More passes were completed and touchdowns completed over the middle
- 6:54Speaker 4: of the field than any other third of the field. Well,
- 6:58Speaker 4: I guess it's no surprise that we were better on
- 7:00Speaker 4: offense last year, so this isn't just an anomaly. Vanderbilt
- 7:04Speaker 4: was actually worse than this. This has been a consistent
- 7:08Speaker 4: theme throughout the year and our answer for almost every
- 7:12Speaker 4: every situation. Down a distance passing situation where we had
- 7:16Speaker 4: to like run a scheme where Garrett had to read one, two,
- 7:18Speaker 4: three to a checkdown. It seemed like it was a
- 7:21Speaker 4: three by one set. The outside receiver ran a hitch,
- 7:23Speaker 4: inside receiver ran a inside fade route, and third receiver
- 7:28Speaker 4: ran a stitch rout stick and nothing is attacking them.
- 7:33Speaker 4: And we went to that over and over and over,
- 7:35Speaker 4: and it led to, like, like I said, hard completions.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Throwing a hitch route to the wide side of the
- 7:41Speaker 4: field in college is a long thrown And yeah, we
- 7:44Speaker 4: completed some, but it was just hard. It's just a
- 7:46Speaker 4: hard pass to complete. You can't expect that to be consistent.
- 7:49Speaker 4: I'm surprised we didn't get more picks on that. People
- 7:51Speaker 4: are just sitting on it because they're not expecting you
- 7:53Speaker 4: to do anything else. So attacked the middle of the
- 7:55Speaker 4: field with multiple people. And it seems that our answer
- 7:58Speaker 4: to do that was always in the RPO game, rpo game,
- 8:01Speaker 4: rpo game.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Well it.
- 8:04Speaker 4: That's not the answer. So that's what has led us
- 8:08Speaker 4: to this point. That is what has led your offense
- 8:11Speaker 4: to be an inmate. That's what hiled is your fifth
- 8:13Speaker 4: year quarterback who's played so well to have by far
- 8:17Speaker 4: his worst season.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Who's gonna play on Sundays. I think Aryl Might is
- 8:20Speaker 2: gonna play on Sundays, and it's gonna be the same situation.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Go back and look at look at what Matt House
- 8:26Speaker 2: did to Omar Spates.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Right, A lot of people, a lot of.
- 8:29Speaker 2: LSU fans wanted to nickname him slow Mar Spates, all right,
- 8:33Speaker 2: and that was somebody that was all conference before he
- 8:35Speaker 2: got here. And it's like, man, that guy, that guy, Yes,
- 8:38Speaker 2: that guy, Okay. It was egregious the positions he was
- 8:43Speaker 2: put in, and they the style that they asked him
- 8:45Speaker 2: to play in. You know who he starts for right
- 8:47Speaker 2: now and has ever since he's been in the NFL.
- 8:50Speaker 2: The Los Angeles Rams. They're pretty good on defense, Like
- 8:54Speaker 2: that's a not to maybe that extent.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I don't know if he's going to be a starter,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I don't I don't know, but like you're going to
- 9:01Speaker 2: see his game go back up, I think because he's
- 9:03Speaker 2: gonna make somebody that understands what he needs to be
- 9:05Speaker 2: coached through.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I hear what you're saying, and I hope so
- 9:09Speaker 5: I love that.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I think he is. I know what you hope.
- 9:11Speaker 5: I hope he is.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah, But I mean he also look at a guy
- 9:14Speaker 4: that through whether it's all his fault or you know,
- 9:17Speaker 4: it's a lot of things. Man and the kids has
- 9:20Speaker 4: shown exactly what it means to be an LS Tiger.
- 9:22Speaker 4: He's stuck around in the world that people don't stick around.
- 9:25Speaker 4: He was given the eighteens jersey for a reason, like
- 9:27Speaker 4: the play on the field, just like an X's and
- 9:29Speaker 4: ose he went from a first rounder to now probably
- 9:31Speaker 4: an undrafted guy right now, Like he can turn it
- 9:34Speaker 4: around and he's got the skills, and he's got the
- 9:35Speaker 4: skills to like go turn it around at the Senior
- 9:37Speaker 4: Bowl and do all that stuff.
- 9:38Speaker 2: When I say play on Sundays also like I would
- 9:40Speaker 2: need that doesn't mean the guy is going to be
- 9:42Speaker 2: one of the thirty two stars. I'm saying he's going
- 9:44Speaker 2: to have an opportunity for sure be on the team.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I think he's a drafted guy. I think he'll go
- 9:49Speaker 2: down to Mobile and he'll probably play well. I think
- 9:53Speaker 2: he'll get back some of his mojo and it's somebody
- 9:55Speaker 2: that will see racist level of play again. To what extent,
- 9:59Speaker 2: I don't know, but he'll be on roster and he'll
- 10:01Speaker 2: be a veter He'll he'll be a vested NFL guy.
- 10:04Speaker 4: And look this this, you know, the starting fresh in
- 10:08Speaker 4: the middle of a season tends to do a lot
- 10:11Speaker 4: of positive things for a team. It tends to happen.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Look at what coach Od did when les Ma was
- 10:17Speaker 4: was gone. You look it all over NFL College. Maybe
- 10:22Speaker 4: this has the right on the wall for for us
- 10:24Speaker 4: to to turn it around. I don't know. If he doesn't,
- 10:26Speaker 4: I don't know if they vam Buren came in there
- 10:28Speaker 4: and played.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Look if he doesn't, Yeah, hard, hard decisions have already
- 10:32Speaker 2: been made.
- 10:32Speaker 3: They got to continue to happen.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Yeah, And let me tell you like, play calling at
- 10:36Speaker 4: any level is hard. It's a skill set that you
- 10:39Speaker 4: either have or you don't like. Being a play caller.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Being able to adapt to a game, be able to
- 10:44Speaker 4: set a tone in the game, and think of ad
- 10:49Speaker 4: lib and think of these things that at the at
- 10:51Speaker 4: the last second in all these different situations.
- 10:53Speaker 5: It's tough.
- 10:54Speaker 4: It is really hard, and good play callers are few
- 10:57Speaker 4: and far between. But the good ones you hang on
- 10:59Speaker 4: to him. You got to go find them, you got
- 11:01Speaker 4: to pay them. And we have a brand new play caller.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Who knows, guy could be great? I could who knows.
- 11:10Speaker 4: We have no idea, but I can tell you it's
- 11:12Speaker 4: it's going to be better than.
- 11:13Speaker 5: What we've had. So being like, so to me, what
- 11:17Speaker 5: it means to.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Be a play caller at any level, it's like being
- 11:20Speaker 4: a good writer, like an author, like a writer of
- 11:23Speaker 4: a book. Like there's different themes that you have to
- 11:25Speaker 4: implement into a game plan. When you go into you
- 11:27Speaker 4: create a plot, a plot like a compelling would like,
- 11:31Speaker 4: there's a compelling plot that I'm going into. This game
- 11:33Speaker 4: plan has got a clear beginning, it's got a clear
- 11:35Speaker 4: middle and end, and it's driven by conflict, a sense
- 11:39Speaker 4: of progression throughout the entire book and throughout.
- 11:42Speaker 5: The entire game.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Then there's pacing, like there's a rhythm that comes with
- 11:47Speaker 4: play calling. You got to know when to punch, you
- 11:49Speaker 4: got to know when to block, you got to know
- 11:50Speaker 4: when to push and pull throughout the game. And that's
- 11:53Speaker 4: that balance and the tension that moves the story forward.
- 11:56Speaker 4: It moves the story that you're the plot that you're
- 11:58Speaker 4: trying to create, It moves it forward, making it more
- 12:00Speaker 4: dynamic throughout the game. Then there's like, of course, there's
- 12:03Speaker 4: an overall theme to what you're trying to do. It's
- 12:05Speaker 4: an underlining message and the meaning that you want to imply,
- 12:08Speaker 4: want to impose on your opponent, if you're an author,
- 12:12Speaker 4: what you want to impose on your reader. And then
- 12:15Speaker 4: at the end of the story, there's an ending, there's
- 12:17Speaker 4: a conclusion to all this. It's the resolution. It's like
- 12:20Speaker 4: what you've been building to what all these the plot,
- 12:22Speaker 4: the pace, and the theme. It's the resolution of everything
- 12:26Speaker 4: that you've been creating to that point and it comes together.
- 12:30Speaker 4: And if you're a good play designer, you're a good
- 12:33Speaker 4: game plan builder and designer against defenses, and you know
- 12:38Speaker 4: how to script that and you know how to create
- 12:40Speaker 4: that through the ebbs and the flows, the negatives, the good,
- 12:43Speaker 4: the bads, the penalties, the holding calls, the big plays.
- 12:47Speaker 4: If you know how to create that and always come
- 12:49Speaker 4: back to that plot that you're trying to create and
- 12:51Speaker 4: that theme, that message you're trying to send to the
- 12:54Speaker 4: other team, and you're working to a certain resolution, like
- 12:57Speaker 4: that is that's the key. That's the gill set. That
- 13:01Speaker 4: isn't a play caller a play designer, And to this point,
- 13:04Speaker 4: it looks like we've just been picking out plays, picking
- 13:08Speaker 4: and hoping, like, yeah, sure there's been a good place
- 13:10Speaker 4: called that hadn't been executed.
- 13:12Speaker 5: That's fine, that's that's football.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks at this point we haven't been writing
- 13:17Speaker 4: that book, right, creating that narrative, imposing that narrative. We've
- 13:21Speaker 4: just been kind of picking and choosing plays, running this
- 13:24Speaker 4: and that because you know, it's a it's you know,
- 13:27Speaker 4: r pos.
- 13:27Speaker 5: It's a good look versus run.
- 13:28Speaker 4: We got a good look versus pass, Like, that's not
- 13:31Speaker 4: imposing will and right. So it's just instead of creating
- 13:37Speaker 4: a book, right, instead of writing a story with your
- 13:41Speaker 4: play design and your play call and your game plan,
- 13:43Speaker 4: we've just been picking and hoping.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yep, it's well said, and a good play designer, a
- 13:50Speaker 2: good play caller, doesn't just open up the play sheet
- 13:55Speaker 2: and put his finger on it and go down and
- 13:57Speaker 2: be like, yes, let's do that one, and then does
- 13:59Speaker 2: it again.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Hey, we hadn't run this yet, let's do that.
- 14:02Speaker 2: A good play caller sets up every call that he makes.
- 14:06Speaker 3: It's a purpose to it.
- 14:08Speaker 2: You know Lane Kiffin, who's obviously gonna be talked about
- 14:11Speaker 2: a lot on this show, this station and in this
- 14:13Speaker 2: state for the next couple of weeks. Like, I'll see
- 14:16Speaker 2: Lane do something and I'll just put a star buck
- 14:19Speaker 2: because I'm like, yep, he's coming back to that.
- 14:21Speaker 3: He's setting that up for.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It could be the next series, it could be two series,
- 14:25Speaker 2: it can be three series from now. But there's a
- 14:28Speaker 2: rhyme and there is a reason to what he does
- 14:30Speaker 2: in the game flow that he has, and there was
- 14:33Speaker 2: never there was never that it was a truly let's
- 14:37Speaker 2: look down the chart.
- 14:39Speaker 3: H Yeah, that one looked okay in practice. Let's let's
- 14:42Speaker 3: run that one.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Let's do that.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Hey, oh that worked earlier. You know what we're gonna do.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Let's flip it, Let's run it the other way. Yeah, Like,
- 14:50Speaker 2: do you do you think that? Do you think defenses
- 14:53Speaker 2: are dumb? Like you think that's a good play to
- 14:54Speaker 2: put on tape.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Early the game. We tried to run a screenplay. It
- 15:00Speaker 4: was a fake power screener.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Wait, you fake the power a play that you haven't
- 15:07Speaker 2: run once this year, and you thought the defense is
- 15:09Speaker 2: gonna fall for it.
- 15:10Speaker 5: We play Actually, oh wow, weird we pulled the guard.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah, a play you haven't run all season long. And
- 15:15Speaker 2: that's how I watched it. I was watching it last night.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I laughed that loud sshiting. I lolled, truly loled. You
- 15:24Speaker 2: haven't run a power all year long, and you're gonna
- 15:27Speaker 2: fake a power to set up a screen.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I really not believe A and M wasn't pulled by that.
- 15:32Speaker 4: We didn't score. Jesus Christ, we're gonna shot some film
- 15:38Speaker 4: we get back. Oh my god.
- 15:40Speaker 3: All right, more to be off the bench, all right.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Go to Central Plumbing dot orgs into Plumbing dot org

- 16:43Speaker 4: nine two five eight five five two Central Plumbing Dot.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Org tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench.
- 17:10Speaker 3: You just got I'm not grip this one, sing.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Hi, Welcome back off the bench Monday morning. A lot
- 17:23Speaker 4: of stuff happening right now in the world of L
- 17:25Speaker 4: s U spots. Frank Kelly here going here, going, Joe
- 17:30Speaker 4: Slan here, going here, going all right, But look, we
- 17:34Speaker 4: got a lot of season left to play. Well, Frank
- 17:37Speaker 4: Wilson is going to take over new play caller on hand,
- 17:40Speaker 4: and we're gonna show you. We've talked a lot of negative,
- 17:43Speaker 4: a lot of speculation, a lot of facts. We're gonna
- 17:46Speaker 4: show you just a couple of clips right now, get
- 17:48Speaker 4: into a little bit of film, say like, trust me,
- 17:50Speaker 4: there's a lot there's plenty of bad from the game,
- 17:51Speaker 4: offensive defense, but you know what, we want to share
- 17:54Speaker 4: a little positivity, little sunshine. We want to show you
- 17:58Speaker 4: a couple of clips of our running game in the
- 18:00Speaker 4: first half that was absolutely great. We want to show
- 18:02Speaker 4: you some good stuff. We've we've we've talked on the negative,
- 18:05Speaker 4: and we're gonna do a little bit more negative. We're gonna,
- 18:07Speaker 4: of course checking out. We're gonna write our article in
- 18:09Speaker 4: the film study that will be published a little bit
- 18:11Speaker 4: later at Louisiana Sports dot Net.
- 18:13Speaker 5: But look, Taylor, throw this up. I got, I got
- 18:15Speaker 5: a couple of plays.
- 18:16Speaker 4: We want to show you on some good stuff, and
- 18:18Speaker 4: a lot of it is stuff that we have pointed
- 18:20Speaker 4: out in our film study and stuff that we've done
- 18:23Speaker 4: here on the show and in the article that we
- 18:25Speaker 4: were a lot of it arepo issues. Well, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 4: they kind of listen. Maybe they listened to our show,
- 18:31Speaker 4: maybe they read the article last week. Who knows. We're
- 18:34Speaker 4: gonna show you about three or four clips right here
- 18:36Speaker 4: of positive running plays that we just haven't seen all season.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Does this formation look familiar? This?
- 18:42Speaker 4: Does it look familiar to anybody? Because all season this
- 18:44Speaker 4: has been an RPO where we'll either fill a wide
- 18:48Speaker 4: receiver screen to the top or we'll throw a hit
- 18:50Speaker 4: you out to the bottom.
- 18:52Speaker 5: What do we talk about last week?
- 18:54Speaker 4: Dig out the safety to the play side, dig out
- 18:57Speaker 4: the safety to the playside.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Trade is they're running to you.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Dig out the safety.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Supposed to play second play the game? Are you kidding me?
- 19:05Speaker 4: That's what a running play is supposed to look like.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Guess what you see offensive linemen firing off to the
- 19:11Speaker 4: second level. Trade as come in hit him. That's safety
- 19:15Speaker 4: didn't see your see you coming? You know why, because
- 19:18Speaker 4: you hadn't done it all season? Oh we did it.
- 19:20Speaker 3: And that's the toughest look you're ever going to get.
- 19:22Speaker 2: That safety immediately added himself to the count. That's the
- 19:26Speaker 2: toughest one that you'll ever have. And guess what he
- 19:29Speaker 2: did it. Yep, he did it. He found a way. Boom,
- 19:33Speaker 2: get it.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Let's go. Put your body in there, how your physically,
- 19:36Speaker 4: Let's go. That's what we talked about. First play I
- 19:40Speaker 4: did on the on the film SETI ride up, dig
- 19:42Speaker 4: out the safety, and they did it. Quarter two, first play,
- 19:45Speaker 4: the second quarter.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Motion in.
- 19:50Speaker 4: We've seen these looks before. Hey, this doesn't look like
- 19:53Speaker 4: a lot, but guess what. Look at the receivers at
- 19:56Speaker 4: the bottom. We're not running dumb hitch routes. We're blocking.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Get some all right. Not the best play. It's first down,
- 20:06Speaker 4: four and a half, five yards, you're on schedule. It
- 20:08Speaker 4: doesn't look like a lot, but look at the lineman
- 20:10Speaker 4: getting to the second level because the threat of the
- 20:13Speaker 4: throw is not there.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Next play, what do.
- 20:21Speaker 4: We say, second to go, dig out the safety, dig
- 20:27Speaker 4: out the safety, block with your receivers down at the bottom.
- 20:30Speaker 3: There you go, boom boom.
- 20:33Speaker 4: If we run hitches like we've been doing this plays
- 20:36Speaker 4: tackle for a three yard game, That's what I'm talking about.
- 20:43Speaker 4: That is what it should have been all season long.
- 20:47Speaker 4: We outthought ourselves. Golly, it's just beautiful. Look at the
- 20:53Speaker 4: right tackle. There's no threat there's no kickstep, there's no
- 20:57Speaker 4: thread of us throwing it fire off, double team, second level.
- 21:00Speaker 4: I love it. Harlon Barley have a day. I mean, oh,
- 21:05Speaker 4: fifty three seconds left. Hey, let's go, hey number four,
- 21:11Speaker 4: let's take out some safety one on one you want,
- 21:16Speaker 4: if you're a coach, you pray that your running back
- 21:19Speaker 4: gets one on one with a corner.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Dig out the safety, break a run.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Now, we'll watch from the back these and remind you
- 21:32Speaker 4: we're all thinking it. We're all shaking our head, we're
- 21:33Speaker 4: all old man waving our fists right now because we
- 21:35Speaker 4: know this is the first half, and we know that
- 21:37Speaker 4: Harlan Barry. You know that Harlem got one carry in
- 21:42Speaker 4: the second half.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Yep.
- 21:43Speaker 2: And the problem is that's how you design a run game,
- 21:48Speaker 2: but you figured it out way too late. And then
- 21:53Speaker 2: even within this game, you still went back to some
- 21:55Speaker 2: of the same stuff, like that's day one insall stuff
- 21:58Speaker 2: in the run game. Everything's not an RPO. Sorry to
- 22:02Speaker 2: a lot of bots, a lot of Chris Berman there.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I feel like, gosh, well, you.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Can't use emojis, so you have to use.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Sound of it. Sorry.
- 22:10Speaker 4: I got excited. I get excited watching good run plays.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Are just the plays that you're supposed to do. That's
- 22:17Speaker 2: how that's a run game. Your receivers and guess what
- 22:20Speaker 2: they show they could do it. You know why, because
- 22:22Speaker 2: it will never be harder than what they just had.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Those safeties were adding immediately. And guess what the receiver did.
- 22:27Speaker 2: He found a way every time, he found a way
- 22:30Speaker 2: to make the block. If you do that against ole miss,
- 22:34Speaker 2: I bet you would have won that game. You don't
- 22:36Speaker 2: won that game if you would have done those things
- 22:39Speaker 2: and not the RPO ish that continue to do like
- 22:43Speaker 2: you'd won the game, but you didn't, and so you didn't.
- 22:46Speaker 3: And now here we are.
- 22:47Speaker 5: There's a time of plays for RPO. But it's not
- 22:50Speaker 5: your crutch.
- 22:51Speaker 2: No, it can be an addition, a little change of pace,
- 22:56Speaker 2: a little uh, let's get them.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Here, part of the pacing part. Yes, the writ in
- 23:00Speaker 5: the book.
- 23:01Speaker 2: If it's your main thing that you do in your
- 23:03Speaker 2: run game, you don't have a run game and LSU
- 23:05Speaker 2: didn't and that's why you've got three losses on the year.
- 23:08Speaker 4: If you're game playing, the first fifteen has five RPOs
- 23:11Speaker 4: on it.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Yeah, there's your son.
- 23:19Speaker 3: So that's what you're good.
- 23:21Speaker 4: A lot of a lot of cte O T B
- 23:23Speaker 4: Chance all good in the chat, all good endearment, this term.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Of endearment here on this show. So yeah, the.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Fact that the receivers digging out safeties feels innovative for
- 23:35Speaker 2: the l s U offense.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Everything you need to know.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Speaking about what it was, they did a good job.
- 23:43Speaker 5: They did it with attitude.
- 23:44Speaker 3: They did probably begging to do it, like hey we'll.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Do it, Hey, we'll do it.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Well, do it.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I don't have to run a meaningless hit you out,
- 23:53Speaker 2: my god? Well, you know what my hope is. We
- 23:59Speaker 2: don't have to worry about that anymore, even in this season,
- 24:04Speaker 2: because moves have been made and now you know what
- 24:08Speaker 2: it's supposed to look like.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Even though you didn't come back to it in the
- 24:13Speaker 3: second half.
- 24:14Speaker 2: All right, we will step away. Still a lot to
- 24:18Speaker 2: get to. We got a there's a eulogy coming up.
- 24:21Speaker 2: There's also also, like I really do want to get
- 24:23Speaker 2: into the nitty gritty of who we would like to
- 24:28Speaker 2: see be the next head football coach at LSU.
- 24:31Speaker 3: We'll go around the room.
- 24:32Speaker 2: We'll have all that for you before we take this

- 25:15Speaker 2: next head football coach at LSU, And we'll have that

- 27:00Speaker 3: Love can be so bo. Nothing is glad to say
- 27:13Speaker 3: I just seen him.
- 27:17Speaker 2: All right, Welcome back to hen O TV. Here live
- 27:19Speaker 2: from the Raise of Canes Studio. Here in the summer.
- 27:24Speaker 2: We're gonna go around the room. We're gonna give you
- 27:26Speaker 2: our top choice for who the next head coach of
- 27:28Speaker 2: the l Shoe Fighting Tigers is going to be. But
- 27:36Speaker 2: before we do that, if you've listened to us over
- 27:40Speaker 2: the last couple of weeks months, you know when we
- 27:43Speaker 2: lose somebody, we passed it over to Matt and he
- 27:46Speaker 2: remembers them.
- 27:47Speaker 3: So Matthew turn it over to you.
- 27:52Speaker 5: With a heavy heart.
- 27:56Speaker 4: This one hits really closed all of us.
- 28:00Speaker 5: We lost another one gone too soon.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I don't know, ladies and gentlemen of Tiger Nation. Today
- 28:19Speaker 4: we laid a rest the Brian Kelly era at LSU.
- 28:25Speaker 4: When Kelly arrived from Notre Dame, LSU fans thought they
- 28:29Speaker 4: were getting the final piece, a proven winner, a steady
- 28:35Speaker 4: hand to restore the glory days. It began with confidence,
- 28:41Speaker 4: a promise, of process, and yes, a slight hint of
- 28:47Speaker 4: a Southern accent that seemed to appear overnight. They were
- 28:54Speaker 4: awkward dances with recruits, a few viral moments, and even
- 29:01Speaker 4: a death slam or two. He said he was keeping
- 29:06Speaker 4: the receipts, but by the end it felt like he
- 29:11Speaker 4: was just collecting excuses. Kelly arrived in Baton Rouge with
- 29:15Speaker 4: big expectations, experienced stability, and a track record of winning
- 29:20Speaker 4: everywhere he'd been, and for the moment, it looked like
- 29:24Speaker 4: he might bring LSU back to championship form. Yeah, they
- 29:27Speaker 4: were flashes, Jane Daniels Heisman, explosive offenses.
- 29:33Speaker 5: And a brief, a brief, ever so slight taste of
- 29:37Speaker 5: relevance on the national stage. But as time went on,
- 29:42Speaker 5: the results didn't match the talk. No defense didn't find
- 29:47Speaker 5: its footing, The big game moment slipped away, and next
- 29:52Speaker 5: year became the most repeated phrase in Tiger country.
- 29:57Speaker 4: The truth is simple, well simple. Brian Kelly's tenure ended
- 30:03Speaker 4: in failure. It fell far short of what l football demands.
- 30:08Speaker 4: The championships never came back, big wins didn't stack, and
- 30:13Speaker 4: somewhere along the way, the spark that makes LSU Lsu
- 30:17Speaker 4: never quite caught.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Fire under his watch.
- 30:19Speaker 4: So we closed the book on an era that began
- 30:21Speaker 4: with hope and ended with unmet expectations. The Brian Kelly
- 30:26Speaker 4: years will be remembered not for catastrophe, but for the
- 30:30Speaker 4: uneasy feeling that the Tigers should have been more. So,
- 30:37Speaker 4: rest easy, Brian Kelly era. As we turn our eyes
- 30:41Speaker 4: to a new future, a new hope. Whoever the next coaches,
- 30:45Speaker 4: we hope you bring back the toughness, the discipline, the
- 30:49Speaker 4: LSU way that was set, that set the standard for
- 30:53Speaker 4: so many years. We're all hungry for it. We all
- 30:56Speaker 4: want it, and we believe and hope that that man
- 31:02Speaker 4: will walk through those doors.
- 31:04Speaker 5: And for that we'll always say, in our best borrowed accent,
- 31:09Speaker 5: go Tigers.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Yes, well done, Matt. Well do I know stuff to
- 31:27Speaker 3: get there?
- 31:29Speaker 5: That's tough for you.
- 31:31Speaker 6: All.
- 31:31Speaker 5: You're losing too many people this year.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Now, we'll go around the room and uh yo, in
- 31:45Speaker 2: these moments it can be difficult, but you have to
- 31:48Speaker 2: move on.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Somebody has to step in. You got to move on.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Life, Life finds a way, Life continues on, Life continues on.
- 31:54Speaker 2: So I'll pass it to you first, your top choice
- 31:59Speaker 2: to be the next leader.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Fighting type.
- 32:06Speaker 5: At this moment in time.
- 32:07Speaker 4: I don't know if I have a top choice right
- 32:09Speaker 4: now because they're so you know, I could say Lane Kiffin,
- 32:13Speaker 4: that's like the easy answer. I think everyone's gonna go to.
- 32:15Speaker 4: You could say Dan Landing. How unrealistic it would be.
- 32:18Speaker 3: I don't think Dan's leaving.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think he is either. I don't know.
- 32:23Speaker 4: I said the one guy that I thought kind of
- 32:24Speaker 4: popped in my head first the other day yesterday, like
- 32:28Speaker 4: just thinking, and then you got Brent Keya, But you know,
- 32:31Speaker 4: Jeff Brohm kind of popped in my head just because
- 32:33Speaker 4: of the success they've had in the big games with
- 32:37Speaker 4: limited resources, with always behind the eight ball on from
- 32:41Speaker 4: a talent level at both Purdue.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Had an record in the Big Ten.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Record and it's at Purdue.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Louisville is four and one against top five opponents, just
- 32:50Speaker 4: beating Miami two weeks ago. Like with with way less talent,
- 32:53Speaker 4: what could he do with far greater talent than resources.
- 32:57Speaker 4: That's intriguing. But there, I know there's a lot of
- 32:59Speaker 4: intrigue there. There's a lot of intriguing coaches from the
- 33:02Speaker 4: big school level, from the mediums and the small soul.
- 33:04Speaker 4: You could go all sorts of different rays. So I
- 33:07Speaker 4: don't really have my like clear cut like number one.
- 33:10Speaker 4: Just I don't want to get stuck in a bad contract.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I know that no more ten year contracts. No, don't
- 33:16Speaker 4: handicap the school. That's all I got, Elandra.
- 33:27Speaker 3: So Jeff Brawm.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Back me in the corner. That's the first person that
- 33:32Speaker 4: came to my head, like without doing any.
- 33:34Speaker 6: Research, get a little bit of research.
- 33:37Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, it's true.
- 33:39Speaker 4: A lot of my research came to the day when
- 33:41Speaker 4: after they had beat Miami, I was like, oh my god,
- 33:42Speaker 4: that's a good record. And then it was like the
- 33:45Speaker 4: ant he was the antithesis of James Franklin gainst top
- 33:49Speaker 4: five opponents, Elandra.
- 33:54Speaker 6: So I'm kind of with Matt where I don't have
- 33:56Speaker 6: like a clear person that stands out for me. I
- 34:00Speaker 6: feel like I'm the only one that cannot get behind
- 34:02Speaker 6: the lane. Kiffin want Sark turn textas around in like
- 34:12Speaker 6: two years, So I think he has He's really good
- 34:15Speaker 6: at play calling. If I had to do like a
- 34:17Speaker 6: really outlandish one that nobody's gonna like or agree with,
- 34:23Speaker 6: it would be that I also like Danie Lanning, but
- 34:26Speaker 6: also impossible not happening.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Yeah, bran Key, I don't think Dan's leaving Brin.
- 34:32Speaker 6: He's probably like the most realistic one that I would want.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Yeah about the cat from uh Aresona State.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Kenny Dillingham, Uh, I would love if Kenny Dillingham was
- 34:44Speaker 2: in the conversation. I think he checks a lot of boxes.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Offensive mine, young head coach, exciting head coach. You're not
- 34:52Speaker 2: going to beat him into the building, and you're not
- 34:54Speaker 2: going to ever outlast him in the building.
- 34:57Speaker 3: He's one of those guys.
- 34:58Speaker 2: He's always in the building, always preparing, always getting ready.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Uh.
- 35:02Speaker 2: He would bring a an energy and a youthfulness I
- 35:07Speaker 2: think to the job that I think would go a
- 35:11Speaker 2: long way. I just he he went to Arizona State,
- 35:13Speaker 2: he's from the area. He's from Tempe Scottsdale area. Again,
- 35:17Speaker 2: that's not saying those guys won't ever leave. I mean,
- 35:19Speaker 2: certainly it's been done before, but it's one of the
- 35:22Speaker 2: things to pay attention to.
- 35:22Speaker 3: But Yeah, i'd love his name to be on the list.
- 35:25Speaker 2: He's I had like one conversation with him, like the
- 35:30Speaker 2: first one I had with him, and I was like, coach,
- 35:32Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure i'd pull my hamstring running down on
- 35:34Speaker 2: kickoff for you right now? Like that kind of and
- 35:37Speaker 2: you would I would both of those would be true.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I'd do it and I would pull it. So yeah,
- 35:44Speaker 2: I would absolutely put his name into the conversation. And
- 35:50Speaker 2: I think he would deserve to be in the conversation.
- 35:53Speaker 7: Uh tete, Yeah, I mean, look, you have to call
- 35:57Speaker 7: Dan Lanning. I don't know how realistic that is. Matt
- 36:00Speaker 7: was talking about ten year contracts. Don't back your school
- 36:02Speaker 7: into a corner. It's probably what you'd have to do
- 36:04Speaker 7: to get Dan Lanning. Like, I love the guy that
- 36:07Speaker 7: Lane too, right, Lane too. You're gonna have to pay
- 36:10Speaker 7: these guys thirteen million a year, give him like an
- 36:12Speaker 7: eight year deal.
- 36:13Speaker 5: That that's that's what it's going to take for me.
- 36:14Speaker 5: It's Brent Key Georgia Tech.
- 36:16Speaker 7: Like I need a guy that's gonna bring some physicality
- 36:19Speaker 7: back to this program. We're talking about it the other day.
- 36:21Speaker 7: Even when this team wins, I said, like I don't.
- 36:23Speaker 7: I don't like watching this team. They're not fun to watch.
- 36:25Speaker 7: Georgia Tech is fun to watch and it starts with
- 36:28Speaker 7: Brent Key. That's that's that's the guy I would go to.
- 36:30Speaker 5: I love it.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I mean every name that Jeff brom Brent Key, Clark Lee,
- 36:43Speaker 2: Ken Dillingham.
- 36:44Speaker 4: You look at the you're just I was just thinking
- 36:46Speaker 4: about like Georgia Tech being so much fun to watch
- 36:49Speaker 4: Brent Key, Vanderbilt with Clark Lee, Like it's fun to
- 36:53Speaker 4: watch the two quarterbacks. Both those guys have are like
- 36:57Speaker 4: Caveman meatthead. Yeah, like hit your head against the football
- 37:04Speaker 4: against a brick wall type guy. Like it's a guy
- 37:06Speaker 4: that you would not traditionally think whatever coming like LSU
- 37:10Speaker 4: would recruit or kind of get. But like they're fun
- 37:13Speaker 4: because of you know, the head coach quarterback. Yeah, Like relationship,
- 37:19Speaker 4: that's what you always look at. Like in the NFL
- 37:21Speaker 4: the great teams, the head coach and quarterback were both great,
- 37:24Speaker 4: right and especially together they were great. It's just funny,
- 37:27Speaker 4: like you just think about you just don't think of
- 37:29Speaker 4: those guys being the big top recruiting guys that maybe
- 37:33Speaker 4: not the most arm talent, not the guys that are
- 37:35Speaker 4: going to go to the NFL. But it just hard
- 37:37Speaker 4: knows programs and both those coaches have two quarterbacks with
- 37:42Speaker 4: very similar mindsets.
- 37:44Speaker 7: Haynes on game day again like this week, can we
- 37:47Speaker 7: interview him every week?
- 37:48Speaker 5: Absolutely great.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Drop the s N and F mom on game day
- 37:54Speaker 4: right there. What what's crazy about?
- 37:57Speaker 2: Like if you had a conversation with Clark and Brent,
- 38:00Speaker 2: it would be two completely different conversations.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Their demeanor is not even related to each other.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Like Clark is one of the smartest people I've ever
- 38:07Speaker 2: been around, which is crazy for a fullback. I tell
- 38:10Speaker 2: him all the time, I'm like, you're the smartest fullback
- 38:12Speaker 2: I've ever met. But that's just like that's who he is,
- 38:14Speaker 2: and it's it's a he's a deep thinker, and he's
- 38:18Speaker 2: certainly got some mean, nasty toughness about him, but it's
- 38:21Speaker 2: like with his actions more than anything. And like when
- 38:25Speaker 2: you interview Brent, like you think he's ready to fight,
- 38:29Speaker 2: Like he's almost like got his his fist is balled
- 38:31Speaker 2: up as he's doing the interview, like he's staying ready
- 38:34Speaker 2: in case somebody tries to sneak him ready, you don't
- 38:37Speaker 2: have to get ready, Like that's the that's like. And
- 38:39Speaker 2: I've interviewed him on person, on Zoom and everything. It's
- 38:42Speaker 2: always like that. But the one thing you know about
- 38:44Speaker 2: him is like if you tried him, they're going to
- 38:48Speaker 2: fight till they die.
- 38:50Speaker 3: You know that about both of those guys. That's what
- 38:51Speaker 3: I want.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Whoever that is, whoever that is, whoever comes in here,
- 38:56Speaker 2: is like, I'm gonna get it done or I'm gonna
- 39:01Speaker 2: die trying. Whatever in my life is in the way
- 39:06Speaker 2: of me getting it done is getting moved out of
- 39:09Speaker 2: the way. And that might seem harsh, it might seem
- 39:12Speaker 2: like a step too far, but that's just how I feel.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Whatever the coach, whoever it is, when he comes in here,
- 39:21Speaker 2: he has got to say from day one, what has
- 39:25Speaker 2: happened is not gonna happen anymore. And when teams play us,
- 39:29Speaker 2: they're gonna fill us, and they're gonna fill us the
- 39:31Speaker 2: next week and the next week and the next week
- 39:34Speaker 2: because we beat the hell out of him for four quarters.
- 39:37Speaker 2: And I'm gonna do everything in my power to get
- 39:40Speaker 2: that done. I am going to be in this building.
- 39:44Speaker 2: I'm not gonna go on vacations. I am going to
- 39:47Speaker 2: sit here and game plan for our opponents so I
- 39:50Speaker 2: can impose our will on said opponent. And if I
- 39:55Speaker 2: get it done, great, and if I don't, it's unaccept
- 40:01Speaker 2: and I'm going to die trying to do it. That's
- 40:04Speaker 2: what I want. Whoever that is whoever that is, I
- 40:10Speaker 2: don't care. I don't care the name. I don't really care.
- 40:14Speaker 2: You know, if it's celebrated, when whoever's interviewing that person,
- 40:18Speaker 2: whoever that is, board of supervisors, whatever president they select,
- 40:23Speaker 2: the governor, the adal, I don't care. But when you're
- 40:27Speaker 2: in that meeting, feel that on an elite level, like
- 40:32Speaker 2: walk out of that meeting not being able to deny
- 40:34Speaker 2: the passion that that person had.
- 40:36Speaker 3: And if you don't know that, let me in the meeting.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I'll do it. I'll do it. I'll do it for free.
- 40:40Speaker 2: You don't have to pay me a consultant, you don't
- 40:42Speaker 2: have to do anything. Just let me be in the meeting.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I promise you. If you have five guys in there,
- 40:46Speaker 2: I promise you, I'll give you the one that's going
- 40:47Speaker 2: to be the best for the job. As far as
- 40:49Speaker 2: getting his team ready to go and making sure that
- 40:52Speaker 2: they're prepared every single week and making sure that they're
- 40:55Speaker 2: the most physical football team in America, that they're the
- 40:57Speaker 2: most physical football team.
- 40:59Speaker 3: In every game that the play.
- 41:01Speaker 2: And if you can't tell that, pass that to somebody
- 41:04Speaker 2: that can, I'll do it.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Flynn will do it.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Laundry will do it tay that we'll do it, but
- 41:10Speaker 2: you got to lead that meeting knowing that they're getting
- 41:13Speaker 2: to work the second they get the job. It's the
- 41:15Speaker 2: only thing that matters to them in life outside of
- 41:17Speaker 2: their family, and they are going to lock themselves in
- 41:20Speaker 2: that building until that gets done.
- 41:23Speaker 3: At an elite level.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Not a good level, not even a great level, but
- 41:26Speaker 2: an elite level, and that's who should.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Get the job.
- 41:33Speaker 2: I agree on all accounts. You gotta pick it. I'll
- 41:37Speaker 2: do it, say I want, I'll do it right now.
- 41:42Speaker 2: We talked to too many people that around football. You
- 41:45Speaker 2: can tell them an interview if he has the right
- 41:47Speaker 2: DNA for this job.
- 41:50Speaker 3: We work hard in Louisiana. We are gritty in Louisiana. Okay.
- 41:57Speaker 2: We know what it takes to get a job done,
- 42:00Speaker 2: and it's not always pretty. That's why I try to say,
- 42:03Speaker 2: too gritty to be pretty. People in Louisiana get ish done.
- 42:09Speaker 2: And the next head coach should have that same mentality.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I don't care if he's from North Dakota, the state
- 42:14Speaker 2: of Washington, Arizona, the Northeast.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Hell, he can be from Rhode Island for all I care.
- 42:21Speaker 2: But when you talk to him, you got to know
- 42:23Speaker 2: that as soon as you sit down in the first
- 42:25Speaker 2: word that he says, you got to feel that. And
- 42:27Speaker 2: if you don't, he's not the right guy for the job.
- 42:29Speaker 2: All Right, we got to play catch up more OTB.

- 44:28Speaker 4: a good day to be an LSU fan.
- 44:31Speaker 6: It's always a good day to be an LSUL.
- 44:33Speaker 5: He's a good day to be an LSU fan, and
- 44:35Speaker 5: you can.
- 44:35Speaker 6: Be excited about the future, excited about the future.
- 44:38Speaker 5: That's right. I think today for hope.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Look, I think for where it was going and you
- 44:42Speaker 2: could see the direction it wasn't going to get any
- 44:44Speaker 2: better with the way it currently was than I think.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Today is a day of hope. Today is a day that.
- 44:50Speaker 2: The next time they get it, they get it right
- 44:52Speaker 2: and for the next time. It's not what the resume says,
- 44:55Speaker 2: it's but what the coach says about the program that
- 44:57Speaker 2: he's coming to because he wants to be at LSU
- 45:00Speaker 2: so god dang bad that he cannot wait to get started.
- 45:03Speaker 2: He wants to be at LSU so god dang bad
- 45:06Speaker 2: that he is going to drive himself here and he
- 45:08Speaker 2: is going to demand that he gets the job.
- 45:10Speaker 3: It's going to be so god dang bad that he is.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Going to drop everything in his life and say, family,
- 45:17Speaker 2: we gotta do it, We got to do it, because
- 45:19Speaker 2: this is where I gotta be.
- 45:20Speaker 3: That's what I want whoever that is, whoever that person.
- 45:25Speaker 4: What was done had to be done, it needed to
- 45:28Speaker 4: be needed to be done with the direction it was gone.
- 45:31Speaker 4: We didn't think it could be done because of the money,
- 45:32Speaker 4: the business part of the side of things. We didn't
- 45:35Speaker 4: know it could happen, but it did. Now here's the
- 45:38Speaker 4: hoping LSU gets it right. We believe we will always cheer,
- 45:41Speaker 4: We'll always run our chest.
- 45:43Speaker 3: We thank you.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Today goes about those three letters, I'll SU forever.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Let's go top the bench.
