- 0:00Speaker 1: Stephen McCormack. Stephen, an experienced truck driver from New Zealand,
- 0:04Speaker 1: was working on his truck. He was positioned between the
- 0:06Speaker 1: truck's bumper and the trailer when something crazy happened. He
- 0:09Speaker 1: slipped and fell, but something felt off. He didn't feel
- 0:12Speaker 1: just regular pain. He felt his body inflating like a balloon,
- 0:15Speaker 1: nearly doubling in size. His colleagues and his son rushed
- 0:19Speaker 1: to help him, quickly realizing what had actually happened. Stephen
- 0:22Speaker 1: had fallen onto the brass valve that supplies compressed air
- 0:25Speaker 1: to the truck's brakes. The valve punctured his bum, forcing
- 0:28Speaker 1: pressurized air into his body. They immediately shut off the
- 0:31Speaker 1: air supply, laid him on the ground, and called an ambulance. Unfortunately,
- 0:35Speaker 1: both emergency vehicles in the area were occupied, forcing him
- 0:38Speaker 1: to wait in that state for an entire hour. When
- 0:40Speaker 1: he finally arrived at the hospital, doctors understood the severity
- 0:43Speaker 1: of his condition. The air had separated fat tissue from muscle,
- 0:46Speaker 1: filling his abdomen, chest, and even the spaces around his lungs, heart,
- 0:50Speaker 1: and behind his eyelids. To help him breathe, doctors inserted
- 0:53Speaker 1: a tube through his ribs and into his lungs. As
- 0:56Speaker 1: for the trapped air, it had to be expelled naturally
- 0:58Speaker 1: through farts, a process that took three days. Stephen made
- 1:01Speaker 1: a full recovery and doctors later determined that if the
- 1:04Speaker 1: valve had punctured another part of his body, it could
- 1:06Speaker 1: have damaged a blood vessel and he would have died.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Joan Murray Joan Murray was an experienced skydiver, having already
- 1:13Speaker 1: completed 35 jumps. It was supposed to be just another
- 1:16Speaker 1: routine dive, and as she plummeted at 120 miles per hour,
- 1:20Speaker 1: she attempted to deploy her parachute. I say attempted, because
- 1:23Speaker 1: it didn't open. After multiple tries, she reached for her
- 1:26Speaker 1: reserve parachute, which, to her relief, deployed successfully. However, another
- 1:30Speaker 1: problem quickly arose. She began spinning uncontrollably. causing the parachute's
- 1:34Speaker 1: cords to tangle into a knot, rendering it useless. She
- 1:37Speaker 1: crashed into the ground at 80 miles per hour, and
- 1:39Speaker 1: upon impact, she heard a loud crack before losing consciousness.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Joan fell into a coma and was rushed to the hospital,
- 1:46Speaker 1: where doctors performed multiple complex reconstructive surgeries and blood transfusions.
- 1:51Speaker 1: The entire right side of her body was crushed, yet incredibly,
- 1:54Speaker 1: two weeks later, she woke up from the coma and
- 1:57Speaker 1: made a full recovery. The reason she survived was just crazy.
- 2:00Speaker 1: By pure chance, she landed directly on a fire ant nest,
- 2:03Speaker 1: disturbing the venomous ants. In response, they came out of
- 2:06Speaker 1: their nests and swarmed her body, stinging and biting her
- 2:09Speaker 1: over 200 times. Fire ant venom, known as solanopsin, stimulates
- 2:13Speaker 1: the nervous system. The overwhelming amount of it that was
- 2:16Speaker 1: injected into her body kept her heart beating until paramedics arrived,
- 2:20Speaker 1: saving her life. Margaret Guire Margaret was a young Canadian
- 2:24Speaker 1: woman who had just married her husband, Herbert, in 1915.
- 2:27Speaker 1: To celebrate, they decided to take a trip and boarded
- 2:29Speaker 1: the RMS Lusitania in New York City, bound for Liverpool.
- 2:33Speaker 1: They were enjoying their trip, having a routine dinner on
- 2:35Speaker 1: the ship, when suddenly they heard a loud boom. The
- 2:38Speaker 1: ship had been torpedoed by a German submarine. Herbert immediately
- 2:41Speaker 1: escorted his wife Margaret to a lifeboat, where she was
- 2:43Speaker 1: joined by three other women and a baby. However, as
- 2:46Speaker 1: she looked up, she saw the ship's massive smokestacks above them,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and she feared they might collapse onto their lifeboat. In
- 2:52Speaker 1: a moment of panic, she climbed back up the stairs
- 2:54Speaker 1: to the deck, while Herbert, believing she was safe, boarded
- 2:57Speaker 1: another lifeboat with other passengers. As the Lusitania rapidly sank,
- 3:01Speaker 1: Margaret tried to swim away from the wreckage, but her
- 3:03Speaker 1: efforts were in vain. A whirlpool formed as the ship submerged,
- 3:06Speaker 1: pulling her and two other men into one of the smokestacks. Miraculously,
- 3:10Speaker 1: a sudden explosion from below blasted her back to the surface,
- 3:13Speaker 1: where she was spotted and rescued by a nearby lifeboat.
- 3:16Speaker 1: As she looked around, she saw Herbert in another lifeboat crying,
- 3:19Speaker 1: believing she had died. Julie McSorley Julie McSorley and Liz
- 3:23Speaker 1: Cottrell were kayaking in San Luis Obispo, California, drawn by
- 3:27Speaker 1: a spectacular event, humpback whales feeding on fish in the bay.
- 3:30Speaker 1: There were lots of tourists on their boats and kayaks
- 3:32Speaker 1: watching the whole thing. And even though whale watching is
- 3:34Speaker 1: a popular activity, it comes with important safety precautions. Experts
- 3:38Speaker 1: recommend staying at least 300 feet away from the feeding
- 3:41Speaker 1: zone to avoid dangerous encounters. Unfortunately, Julie and Liz misjudged
- 3:45Speaker 1: the distance. A tightly packed swarm of fish, known as
- 3:48Speaker 1: a bait ball, suddenly moved alarmingly close to them. but
- 3:51Speaker 1: they weren't the only ones to notice. Their presence had
- 3:53Speaker 1: also caught the attention of a humpback whale. Before they
- 3:56Speaker 1: had time to react, the whale lunged forward to swallow
- 3:58Speaker 1: the fish, but in the process, it also scooped up
- 4:01Speaker 1: Julie and Liz. Trapped inside its massive mouth, they probably
- 4:04Speaker 1: thought that they were about to be swallowed whole. After all,
- 4:07Speaker 1: humpback whales can grow up to 56 feet long, a
- 4:10Speaker 1: huge size from a human perspective. However, despite their enormous mouths,
- 4:14Speaker 1: humpback whales have relatively small throats, only about the size
- 4:17Speaker 1: of a human fist and capable of stretching to just
- 4:19Speaker 1: 15 inches in diameter. They also lack teeth, meaning the
- 4:22Speaker 1: two women weren't crushed. Luckily, a whale's natural instinct is
- 4:26Speaker 1: to spit out anything that isn't fish, and that's exactly
- 4:29Speaker 1: what happened. Moments later, Julie and Liz were spat out
- 4:32Speaker 1: from the whale's mouth and surfaced unharmed. Matthew Lowe Matthew
- 4:36Speaker 1: was heading to his factory for a routine shift, just
- 4:38Speaker 1: like any other day. Upon arriving, he immediately got to work.
- 4:41Speaker 1: As he walked past an automated conveyor belt, he suddenly
- 4:44Speaker 1: felt his overall snag on something. Unfortunately, it was the
- 4:47Speaker 1: conveyor itself. Before he could react, he was pulled onto
- 4:50Speaker 1: the belt and dragged toward a five-inch opening. Within seconds,
- 4:53Speaker 1: his entire body was forced through the narrow tunnel. He
- 4:56Speaker 1: could hear the cracks of his bones as the machine
- 4:58Speaker 1: spat him out on the other side. Miraculously, he remained conscious.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Matthew's agonizing screams alerted his co-workers, who rushed to the scene.
- 5:06Speaker 1: What they saw was horrifying. His back was broken in
- 5:09Speaker 1: two places, his pelvis, ribs, and hips were nearly completely crushed,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and his abdomen was severely torn. He was rushed to
- 5:15Speaker 1: the hospital, but doctors had little hope for his survival.
- 5:18Speaker 1: They even advised his partner to prepare for the worst. However,
- 5:21Speaker 1: against all odds, Matthew survived. After six surgeries and a
- 5:24Speaker 1: month in the hospital, he slowly began to recover. Eighteen
- 5:27Speaker 1: months later, he made a full recovery and even returned
- 5:30Speaker 1: to work. Taiba Taiba, a young Indian girl, went out
- 5:33Speaker 1: for a walk when she came across a construction site. Intrigued,
- 5:36Speaker 1: she decided to explore the area. The site was filled
- 5:39Speaker 1: with debris and half-finished structures, making it extremely risky to navigate,
- 5:43Speaker 1: especially without proper equipment or experience. As she walked through
- 5:46Speaker 1: the site, she tripped and fell neck-first onto a long
- 5:49Speaker 1: metal rod protruding from a brick. bystanders witnessed the horrifying
- 5:52Speaker 1: scene and immediately called for an ambulance. When Taiba arrived
- 5:55Speaker 1: at the hospital, doctors were left stunned. Miraculously, the rod
- 5:59Speaker 1: had missed all vital nerves and blood vessels in her head.
- 6:02Speaker 1: After a 35-minute surgery, doctors successfully removed the rod. Amazingly,
- 6:06Speaker 1: she was discharged just three days later. Had she fallen
- 6:09Speaker 1: just a few inches further forward, she would have died.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Frane Selak Frane Selak is an elderly music teacher from Croatia,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and he's both the luckiest and unluckiest man on earth.
- 6:19Speaker 1: His first crazy experience happened in 1962 when he was
- 6:22Speaker 1: on a train. A fault in the tracks caused the
- 6:24Speaker 1: train to derail and plunge into the freezing river below.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Most passengers either died in the crash or drowned in
- 6:30Speaker 1: the submerged train, but Frane miraculously survived with only a
- 6:33Speaker 1: broken arm and managed to swim to shore. In 1963,
- 6:37Speaker 1: just a year after the train incident, he was on
- 6:39Speaker 1: a small plane when, mid-flight, both engines failed. As the
- 6:42Speaker 1: aircraft went into a free fall, a malfunctioning door blew open,
- 6:46Speaker 1: yanking Frane out of the plane. Without a parachute, he
- 6:48Speaker 1: must have thought he was going to die. The plane
- 6:51Speaker 1: crashed into a hill, killing all 19 passengers on board. However,
- 6:54Speaker 1: Frane survived by landing on a haystack, escaping with only
- 6:57Speaker 1: minor injuries. Two years later, in 1965, he was traveling
- 7:01Speaker 1: on a bus that was crossing a bridge. The icy
- 7:03Speaker 1: conditions caused the bus's wheels to lock up, sending the
- 7:06Speaker 1: vehicle crashing through the safety barrier and into the valley below.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Four passengers lost their lives, yet Frane survived once again.
- 7:13Speaker 1: After multiple accidents involving public transportation, he decided to rely
- 7:17Speaker 1: on his own car, only to find that it wasn't
- 7:19Speaker 1: any safer. In 1970, while driving, his engine suddenly burst
- 7:23Speaker 1: into flames. Miraculously, he managed to jump out in time
- 7:26Speaker 1: and survived. But this wasn't his only brush with fire.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Three years later, in 1973, while driving another car, the
- 7:33Speaker 1: fuel pump ruptured. causing yet another fire. This time, the
- 7:36Speaker 1: flames were blown directly toward him through the air vents.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Despite suffering burns, he once again managed to escape. As
- 7:42Speaker 1: if that weren't enough, in 1975, he survived being hit
- 7:45Speaker 1: by a bus. Then, just a year later, he had
- 7:48Speaker 1: another near-death experience when his car fell off a mountain road,
- 7:51Speaker 1: plummeting 300 feet after a careless driver forced him off
- 7:54Speaker 1: the road. The car exploded upon impact, but Frane managed
- 7:57Speaker 1: to survive by jumping out of the vehicle's window mid-fall
- 8:00Speaker 1: and landing on a tree. And by the way, he
- 8:02Speaker 1: won the lottery in 2003. If you liked this video,
