- 0:02Tyler Johnson: Hey everyone, welcome back to 22 Panels. This is the podcast that aims to examine, explore, and elevate the medium of comics. I am Tyler.
- 0:13Tyler Johnson: Sitting with you on a Saturday morning with my, web thwips there. Hey, Tad, hey Phil, how's it going?
- 0:20Phil: Oh, it's going!
- 0:21Tyler Johnson: Good.
- 0:22Tyler Johnson: One of the… do you think we'll ever get sick of the web thwips?
- 0:26Phil: I mean, I… I'm not sick of the web twips. I… I think… I worry that you might be a little sick of the web flips.
- 0:32Tyler Johnson: I… I worry that the audience is like, yeah, yeah, yeah, very funny, you know, across the… across the interwebs, Spider-Man, we get it, you know.
- 0:40Tyler Johnson: And I, I stole that, that interwebs thing, I stole that from Adam Carolla. He,
- 0:47Tyler Johnson: Yeah, he used to have,
- 0:49Tyler Johnson: well, he still does, but I used to listen to his podcast.
- 0:53Tyler Johnson: Way back in the day, and he referred to the internet all the time as the interwebs.
- 0:57Tad Eggleston: Before he became a nutjob.
- 1:00Tyler Johnson: Yes. Yep. Yep.
- 1:02Phil: Do you think him and Jimmy Kimmel still hang out?
- 1:04Tyler Johnson: They do, except, you know, I saw an interview with Adam recently where he talked about.
- 1:10Tad Eggleston: I doubt it. Or do they?
- 1:13Tyler Johnson: Well, according to Adam, he said they do, that while Trump… while Adam doesn't support Trump, he is very, very conservative in what he thinks, you know.
- 1:26Phil: Yikes.
- 1:26Tyler Johnson: Is what he says, but obviously, Jimmy is completely different.
- 1:30Tad Eggleston: Yeah, sure seems to have gone off the deep end, too.
- 1:35Tyler Johnson: Yeah, Drew Pinsky is crazy.
- 1:38Tad Eggleston: Slow.
- 1:40Phil: I don't know who that is.
- 1:41Tyler Johnson: Oh, yeah.
- 1:42Tad Eggleston: Yeah, no.
- 1:42Tyler Johnson: With Adam.
- 1:42Tad Eggleston: It's saddened.
- 1:43Tyler Johnson: on,
- 1:44Tad Eggleston: It was such a…
- 1:44Tyler Johnson: Dr. Drew?
- 1:47Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 1:48Tad Eggleston: He was such a…
- 1:50Tyler Johnson: Sure.
- 1:51Tad Eggleston: essential part of my childhood, and then he went nuts.
- 1:55Tyler Johnson: Damn.
- 1:56Tyler Johnson: when you… there's a show, early 2000s, late 90s, called Loveline, and him and Adam Carolla would answer calls. Adam was the comedy, and Drew was the actual doctor about sex advice.
- 2:10Phil: I remember hearing about that show.
- 2:12Tyler Johnson: And, it, it was…
- 2:14Tad Eggleston: Addiction medicine specialist, yeah.
- 2:16Tyler Johnson: Yeah, yup, yep, yep.
- 2:18Tyler Johnson: And so, yeah, it was cool. I mean, it was entertaining, but this is before you knew both of them were weirdos.
- 2:28Tyler Johnson: And then, of course, Adam and Jimmy Kimmel were on the man show before that.
- 2:33Phil: Talk about your, episodes of TV that have an.
- 2:36Tad Eggleston: So after that.
- 2:39Tyler Johnson: What's that?
- 2:41Phil: I said talk about your episodes of TV that haven't aged very well, and
- 2:45Tyler Johnson: Oh, I know. Tad, it's an app.
- 2:46Phil: After. After Loveline was the man show.
- 2:49Tyler Johnson: Yes, yeah, Loveline, then The Man Show, and then.
- 2:51Tad Eggleston: During stuff.
- 2:53Tad Eggleston: Yeah. Damn.
- 2:54Tyler Johnson: And then, while Loveline was on, Jimmy Kimmel was on Win Ben Stein's Money.
- 2:59Phil: Oh yeah, I watched that.
- 3:01Tyler Johnson: That was a good show. Yeah. Jimmy was, like, so young in that as a host, you know?
- 3:06Phil: He hosted, holy cow. I thought for a second he was a contestant, but no, he was hosting.
- 3:10Tyler Johnson: he was the host, and then Ben Stein played the contestant.
- 3:13Tad Eggleston: No, because Ben was the contestant.
- 3:15Phil: Yeah.
- 3:16Tyler Johnson: Yep, yep.
- 3:17Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 3:19Tyler Johnson: He was in.
- 3:19Phil: Absolutely.
- 3:20Tyler Johnson: But anyway, let's, I digress. Let's move on to the.
- 3:23Tad Eggleston: former Nixon.
- 3:23Tyler Johnson: of the show.
- 3:25Tyler Johnson: What'd you say?
- 3:26Phil: Ben Stein's a former Knicks nade?
- 3:29Tad Eggleston: I said, former.
- 3:30Tyler Johnson: Really?
- 3:30Tad Eggleston: Former Nixon aide, Ben Stein, yeah.
- 3:34Tad Eggleston: in the Nixon White House.
- 3:35Phil: Didn't know that.
- 3:38Tyler Johnson: Economist, or what?
- 3:41Tyler Johnson: Or what…
- 3:42Tad Eggleston: I think so.
- 3:43Tyler Johnson: Yeah.
- 3:45Tyler Johnson: Certainly.
- 3:46Phil: working for.
- 3:46Tad Eggleston: And one of the advice.
- 3:47Phil: next.
- 3:53Tyler Johnson: Oh, man.
- 3:54Tad Eggleston: Get off on it. I mean, like…
- 3:56Tyler Johnson: Total tangent here.
- 4:03Tad Eggleston: I'll make a comment on that when we get to what kind of week has it been, because I don't think that we've talked much about Jack.
- 4:11Tad Eggleston: Smith making the rounds. But news of note this week, technically, I guess this first item is a San Diego Comic-Con item as well, but I heard about it first when Jason Aaron sent out his newsletter. Indiana Jones is…
- 4:27Tad Eggleston: Returning to Marvel.
- 4:30Tad Eggleston: And Jason Aaron will be penning it, so he's gotten to kick off both the Marvel Star Wars and the Marvel
- 4:39Tad Eggleston: Or the revived Marvel Star Wars and revived Marvel Indiana Jones.
- 4:43Tad Eggleston: Properties.
- 4:47Tyler Johnson: Ann Cohen.
- 4:48Tad Eggleston: I don't care as much about that, and I've forgotten.
- 4:51Phil: Yeah, me neither, but…
- 4:53Tad Eggleston: And that's not Lucasfilm.
- 4:56Tad Eggleston: That's not Lucasfilm, that's like… you're muddying the water.
- 5:03Tad Eggleston: spill.
- 5:04Phil: It's, it's a, it's a non- Hero returns.
- 5:07Tad Eggleston: We also wrote Thor.
- 5:08Phil: Yeah.
- 5:10Phil: I guess Thor is on license from, you know, Odin.
- 5:13Tyler Johnson: Yup.
- 5:16Tad Eggleston: Anyway, other, other, San Diego Comic-Con news…
- 5:22Tad Eggleston: Dennis Camp and Javier Rodriguez will… 18…
- 5:32Tad Eggleston: for an upcoming Shadow of the Bat series. Ongoing series at…
- 5:40Tad Eggleston: DC, ending their drought of series with… with,
- 5:47Tad Eggleston: Black main characters. Stephanie Williams and Kari Randolph have
- 5:52Tad Eggleston: how Vixen and Static will be…
- 5:56Tad Eggleston: Cody Zieglar and Diego Olotegui.
- 6:02Phil: Nice.
- 6:03Tad Eggleston: more Tegui.
- 6:05Tad Eggleston: Frank Miller's back at Dark Horse with Invasive Species, which he's writing in somebody else's drawing. And Dark Horse will also be publishing Barbie comics.
- 6:17Tad Eggleston: What kind of week has it been? The,
- 6:20Tad Eggleston: The big story this week is that, that the… Pentagon re… removed… 4…
- 6:28Tad Eggleston: people from the, KIA list.
- 6:32Tad Eggleston: For… reasons…
- 6:37Tad Eggleston: Initially, they said it was because, oh, we were in a ceasefire, so those… those four don't count.
- 6:45Tad Eggleston: And, and then they, then they said it was some sort of…
- 6:50Tad Eggleston: Information… cycling error, blah, blah, blah.
- 6:57Tad Eggleston: Also, the, the four involved…
- 7:00Tad Eggleston: a woman and a couple people of color. So, you know, who's…
- 7:04Phil: Holy shit.
- 7:04Tad Eggleston: so along with this Pentagon. Let's ignore the actual soldiers and the cost of the war. Likewise, Trump seemed to imply that the dead soldiers coming back to
- 7:20Tad Eggleston: Anders had told him that, that, it was very important that Iran not get a nuclear weapon.
- 7:37Tad Eggleston: So…
- 7:37Phil: So…
- 7:38Tad Eggleston: I… I… I don't even… I don't even know what to do with that.
- 7:44Tyler Johnson: Alright.
- 7:48Tad Eggleston: Yeah, did he have a seance? Did he… Did he just happen?
- 7:54Tyler Johnson: Was it…
- 7:54Tad Eggleston: all the four… There were soldiers that would wind up dying, and.
- 8:00Tyler Johnson: It was a tarot reading, come on.
- 8:04Tyler Johnson: Come on.
- 8:05Phil: Oh, he's just making stuff up.
- 8:07Tad Eggleston: He's using his OEG board?
- 8:09Phil: Yo.
- 8:09Tyler Johnson: Yeah.
- 8:11Phil: Oh, good.
- 8:12Tyler Johnson: His dowsing… no.
- 8:14Tad Eggleston: You know, I mean…
- 8:15Tyler Johnson: He's rolling the bones.
- 8:17Phil: There you go.
- 8:19Tyler Johnson: The chicken bones on his kitchen table.
- 8:22Phil: If there was ever someone whose brain very clearly was a dowsing rod, it'd be him.
- 8:26Tad Eggleston: But, but… But, but, but quickly, quickly jumping back to…
- 8:36Tad Eggleston: to your, your, statement about Ben Stein and, and working for…
- 8:48Tyler Johnson: Nixon.
- 8:48Tad Eggleston: Richard Nixon.
- 8:50Tad Eggleston: Jack Smith has been making the rounds, and one of the things that he's been
- 9:00Tad Eggleston: Really kind of hitting hard on is that, like.
- 9:07Tad Eggleston: particularly anybody that's not strictly a political hire, and I think… I think…
- 9:13Tad Eggleston: Ben Stein was, but that doesn't… Always make them…
- 9:19Tad Eggleston: You know, I've never, never heard anything that indicates that he was one of the ones that was involved.
- 9:25Tad Eggleston: directly with Nixon, and certainly in any tomfoolery,
- 9:31Tad Eggleston: But, but, like, particularly non-political hires, it's actually really, really important that you stick around as long as possible.
- 9:41Tad Eggleston: like, if you're given an order that's illegal, then yes, you need to resign rather than do it. But as long as you're still doing things that are within the legal purview of your job,
- 9:55Tad Eggleston: A…
- 9:58Tad Eggleston: being part of the balancing factor right now is important. B, like, there's gonna come a day that Trump isn't in office, and the less people we have to hire then, the better.
- 10:12Tad Eggleston: Yeah. You know, we're already gonna have to hire outreach…
- 10:15Tad Eggleston: ridiculous number of people. I mean, it's… it's the thing that I felt like was overlooked the most when people were grading Biden, is that, like…
- 10:26Tad Eggleston: He… he came into office with… with all of…
- 10:30Tad Eggleston: All of the agencies completely gutted.
- 10:33Phil: Yeah.
- 10:34Tad Eggleston: You know, the State Department got cut by two-thirds during during Trump's first administration.
- 10:42Tad Eggleston: And oh, can you imagine the job the next Education Secretary has in front of them?
- 10:50Phil: It's gonna be impossible.
- 10:51Tad Eggleston: You know, I mean… It's, it's… it's, it's one thing to, to, like.
- 11:00Tad Eggleston: Write laws and allocate money and whatnot, but you still need to have people to To do the work.
- 11:07Phil: Yeah, absolutely.
- 11:08Tad Eggleston: And they're not there… you know… Right, so, so, like… Just having worked for…
- 11:23Tad Eggleston: A bad president shouldn't… shouldn't be…
- 11:27Tad Eggleston: I mean, this… this kind of goes back to the Tom King argument, and…
- 11:34Tad Eggleston: I heard a similar one when Smith was on,
- 11:41Tad Eggleston: John… Jon Stewart's weekly show with,
- 11:48Tad Eggleston: Brian Driscoll, who… who was briefly the act… acting
- 11:53Tad Eggleston: head of the FBI, actually because of a paperwork error that's from… Right.
- 12:01Phil: I remember hearing about that.
- 12:02Tad Eggleston: After they fired Christopher Ray.
- 12:05Phil: The drizz.
- 12:08Tad Eggleston: Right, but one of the things that he talked about a lot was, like, when I got into the FBI, yeah, I know their history, but…
- 12:17Tad Eggleston: Like, they're not going away, and we need an investigative organization. So, like…
- 12:26Tad Eggleston: That means that you want people Who are ethical, Who do want to, to… to fulfill the…
- 12:38Tad Eggleston: the higher purpose.
- 12:42Tad Eggleston: To take these jobs, because Otherwise, you only have the horrible people.
- 12:50Tad Eggleston: You know, if you don't have some forces within, working hard.
- 12:56Tad Eggleston: To… to make things better.
- 13:00Tad Eggleston: Now, like, how much you agree with that, like…
- 13:09Tad Eggleston: on a personal level, can go, you know, the… that's… that's a… Open question, but
- 13:19Tad Eggleston: I think it's dangerous, particularly with government organizations, to start thinking, that… Anybody who joins them.
- 13:29Tad Eggleston: Now, the possible exception to that is anybody that's joined ICE or
- 13:36Tad Eggleston: Border Patrol in, like, the last… 29 months to a year.
- 13:45Tad Eggleston: Again, like… Yes, we know now that it's been rotten.
- 13:54Tad Eggleston: from the inside for a long, long time. That wasn't common knowledge even 2 years ago.
- 14:02Phil: Yeah.
- 14:03Tyler Johnson: Right?
- 14:03Tad Eggleston: There is a specific purpose that it's supposed to serve.
- 14:07Phil: Right.
- 14:08Tad Eggleston: Wanting to serve that purpose isn't inherently bad.
- 14:13Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 14:15Tad Eggleston: against…
- 14:17Tad Eggleston: since Los Angeles, really, and certainly since Minneapolis, if you're signing up now, that's a whole different thing.
- 14:27Tad Eggleston: And to a certain extent, if you're actually managing to get the job in the Trump administration, that's a whole different thing.
- 14:36Phil: Yeah, I'd be curious.
- 14:37Tad Eggleston: they, they, they've… Instituted a level of, of, like…
- 14:43Tad Eggleston: Loyalty above all else that we've…
- 14:47Tad Eggleston: Certainly haven't seen in government in a long, long time.
- 14:51Phil: Yeah.
- 14:52Tad Eggleston: But… May not have seen ever.
- 14:57Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 14:59Tyler Johnson: Not in the United States.
- 15:01Tad Eggleston: But yeah, like… I don't think…
- 15:05Tyler Johnson: It's tough. I mean, like, obviously, we've seen this in other countries that we've fought with. I mean, I mean, World War II, you can look at what Hitler.
- 15:15Tad Eggleston: Damn.
- 15:16Tyler Johnson: from his… his, subjects, as I call them.
- 15:22Tyler Johnson: I mean, same thing with Mussolini or Stalin, I mean, they all ruled with this, you will…
- 15:28Tyler Johnson: obey me, or this is… I mean, this is this way or the highway. And that's what Trump wants so badly, but he doesn't have the clout to do it, right? I mean, he does, but he doesn't, and that's why we end up with this hillbilly band of MAGA morons, right?
- 15:45Tad Eggleston: I mean, I mean, this… this is… this is where I remind people that, like.
- 15:50Tad Eggleston: When we think of Hitler and Stalin, we think of Hitler and Stalin 10 years in.
- 15:55Phil: Yeah.
- 15:56Tyler Johnson: Yeah. No, I'm talking about early. Like…
- 15:59Tad Eggleston: No, no, but…
- 16:00Tyler Johnson: One, yeah.
- 16:01Tad Eggleston: But I mean, in terms of them having that complete and total iron fist, we're thinking of them 5 to 10 years in. So, is he there yet? No. I'm not 100% certain that he's not on the trajectory, which is why I'm so happy that he's so much older than them.
- 16:22Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 16:24Tyler Johnson: I was just thinking, like, if you're gonna start this kind of, like, revolution and move us into a dictatorship, wouldn't you want to be a younger man? Why would you.
- 16:33Phil: Like.
- 16:34Tyler Johnson: Push for this so hard in your 80s.
- 16:36Phil: Oh!
- 16:37Phil: I mean, so this is… this is where I get back to just trying… trying to make sense of…
- 16:43Phil: of Trump is always dangerous, because there's no sense to be found, but like…
- 16:49Tad Eggleston: Well, sure there is. Money.
- 16:51Tad Eggleston: Money for me and my kids.
- 16:55Phil: Sure, but I guess, I guess I mean, like.
- 16:58Tyler Johnson: Sure.
- 16:58Phil: Yeah, I guess what I mean is, like, that… why are you pushing for this in your old age? He doesn't think he's gonna die.
- 17:05Phil: Like, he cannot…
- 17:07Tad Eggleston: logging into that.
- 17:07Phil: I can't fathom his own death. Like, that's exactly what's going on, and so that's why he's flailing wildly.
- 17:13Phil: For any sense of thrill, power, and feeling alive, you know?
- 17:18Tad Eggleston: Well, except on… except on alternate Tuesdays, where he's worried about getting into heaven.
- 17:23Phil: Sure, sure, yeah, you know. Those, those brief moments where the dementia is, is striking him to his core, you know?
- 17:32Tad Eggleston: I mean, is the dementia striking to his core, or are those his brief moments of lucidity?
- 17:38Tyler Johnson: I agree. It's hard to tell.
- 17:39Tyler Johnson: I don't… I don't… I don't like the idea of blaming any of his actions on,
- 17:44Phil: Oh.
- 17:44Tyler Johnson: On, on, on, his decline of mental health.
- 17:48Phil: No, he's always…
- 17:49Tad Eggleston: Well, I'll blame a lot of the actions on the decline in mental health, but I think when he's worried about getting into heaven, he's having brief moments of lucidity.
- 18:00Phil: Oh, I can see that.
- 18:01Tyler Johnson: Yeah, I can see that.
- 18:02Tad Eggleston: He's like.
- 18:04Tyler Johnson: Oh, shoot.
- 18:06Phil: They're… if anything, they might…
- 18:07Tyler Johnson: Jesus isn't gonna like this at all.
- 18:09Phil: The first moments of lucidity he's ever had.
- 18:17Tyler Johnson: Let's get some new to order this month. I want to tell you guys… Yeah, we got…
- 18:22Tad Eggleston: brand new to order for August 27th, new catalog.
- 18:28Tyler Johnson: Yeah, one of the…
- 18:29Tad Eggleston: Oh, I will… I will quickly toss out, this does not include DC titles yet. DC is holding their solicits until, like, 4 o'clock this afternoon, so they would be ready for our Sunday release, but they're not ready for our Saturday morning recording, so we won't have any DC
- 18:50Tad Eggleston: Titles until next week.
- 18:52Tyler Johnson: Okay.
- 18:53Tad Eggleston: West…
- 18:54Tyler Johnson: Well, first up, I want to talk about Kanto. This is the Clockwork Chronicles number 1 from David Bohr and Drew Zucker from Dark Horse.
- 19:03Tyler Johnson: The small knight with a big heart travels the unnamed world to help those in need. That mission takes him to the mysterious Forgotten Isles, where jungle fauna mixes with strange machines. The mystery of what happened to the Forgotten People who once lived there is put on hold
- 19:20Tyler Johnson: When catastrophe befalls his best friend, Miko the Melarix.
- 19:24Tyler Johnson: Will Kanto's courage be enough to save his companion?
- 19:28Tyler Johnson: We have final order cutoff of September 14th, and
- 19:32Tyler Johnson: This… excuse me, October 12th, I read the line above it. Final order is October 12th, and, in stores November 18th.
- 19:42Tad Eggleston: Alright, the detective number one from David and Maria Lapham at Bad Idea. It's a cold morning in the city when Valencia Velez wakes up in an unfamiliar bed with a revolver in her hand and a dead body at her side. She doesn't remember how she got there. She doesn't remember much of anything.
- 19:59Tad Eggleston: Just the long list of names buzzing around her head, suspects in the brutal ganglang execution of her husband.
- 20:05Tad Eggleston: Lucky for her, Val's a homicide detective.
- 20:08Tad Eggleston: The only trouble? In the city? So is everyone else.
- 20:12Tad Eggleston: Val's hunt for answers has painted a target on her back.
- 20:16Tad Eggleston: Caught between the crooked cops hot on her trail and the towering mechanical judges looming over the city's rain-soaked streets. Everly Val runs down only raises more questions. What secrets lie hidden in Val's missing memories? Who is the mastermind?
- 20:31Tad Eggleston: In the city, the truth doesn't come easy, and when it does, you'll wish it hadn't.
- 20:36Tad Eggleston: Final order cutoff of September 21st, in stores October 21st.
- 20:44Phil: Alright, Filthy Lambs, number 1, from Polly Paul Allure and Chris Evanuis at, Mad Cave. In the basement of Grimaldi Manor, the family patriarch says a prayer and stabs himself in the throat.
- 21:00Phil: Blood falls. The demon watches. A woman tries to scream.
- 21:04Phil: Upstairs, three generations of the Grimaldi family are… and a snapping turtle fill the house with unfulfilled promise and joyful childhood shrieks. These are tremendous, terrible times for the lineage. The Grimaldi's hold a contract with their lord below for 10 more years of prodigious wealth and glory, but old contracts can sour, monsters can misbehave, and a filthy little lamb.
- 21:28Phil: can still have teeth It's gonna have a final order cutoff of September 28th in stores October 21st.
- 21:36Tad Eggleston: Add Science Division No. 1 from Dan Waters and Brian Lovell at Ignition, it's no secret Archimedes Anderson is an EPO hire, assigned Chief Coordinator of R&D at the American Arm of Genetic Engineering and Bioweapons
- 21:51Tad Eggleston: development company, Miyashi Smith. Everyone knows he's here for one purpose.
- 21:57Tad Eggleston: to slash the budget and trim the fat. If he can cut 30% from the unaffectionately named Mad Science Division budget, he'll earn a cushy, high-level job at HQ.
- 22:08Tad Eggleston: He goes in with a move-fast-and-break-stuff attitude, knowing that
- 22:12Tad Eggleston: absolutely nothing about the dangerous genetic experiments taking place in the division. When he upsets the delicate equilibrium of department factions and removes guardrails which protect the workers and the public, he winds up exposing them to terrible, evil experiments. This is final order cutoff of September 28th.
- 22:33Tad Eggleston: in stores on November 4th.
- 22:37Tyler Johnson: Alright, Satanic Panic! Hey, guys, Tad especially, did your mom or dad get, you know, crazy about Satanic Panic crap in the 80s?
- 22:48Tad Eggleston: Nope. Or at least not that I remember.
- 22:51Tyler Johnson: My mom did. She believed Donahue like he was God. Anyway, Satanic Panic, from Matt Miller and Clay McCormick from Mad Cave. A sleepy 1980s town is stalked by a mask slasher at the height of the Satanic Panic.
- 23:07Tyler Johnson: where every heavy metal record Dungeons & Dragons campaign and teenage outsider is treated as evidence of devil worship. As fear spreads and bodies pile out, three local misfits become the prime suspect.
- 23:21Tyler Johnson: in a series of gruesome murders, join D&D geeks and Aussie enthusiasts Naz, Sal, and Terry as they race to clear their names, survive an increasingly blood-soaked town, and unmask the real killer before paranoia claims innocent lives.
- 23:37Tyler Johnson: But in a community eager to blame the weird kids, proving their innocence may be deadlier than facing the murderer.
- 23:44Tyler Johnson: This is going to have a final order cut off of October 5th, and be in shops October 28th.
- 23:51Tyler Johnson: Just in time for Halloween. Yeah, the satanic Panic was crazy. When I was a kid, my cousin kept giving me cassette tapes of bands he was into, and holy crap, my mom went just apeshit crazy about,
- 24:07Tyler Johnson: Ozzy, Motley Crue, I mean, anyone and everyone, corrupting us with their satanic music. Supposedly, records, you know, you guys, they put hidden messages if you played them backwards. However, my mom thought that that could easily transfer to cassette tape.
- 24:26Tyler Johnson: And I said, Mom, I have no way to play this backwards, so…
- 24:30Phil: That's funny.
- 24:32Phil: So, so the last… I must have had some of the last surviving bits of Satanic Panic. I was getting into heavy metal in the early 2000s, when I was a teenager.
- 24:40Phil: And, my… my parents were actually pretty cool about it, you know? They, got me a fair amount of, music and, you know, all kinds of different stuff. The one exception was, Slayer, Rain and Blood. I used to listen to music as I fell asleep, and my parents were like, don't listen to this while you sleep. And I'm like, okay, okay, I'll lay off the Slayer dreamland, you know? Slayer for.
- 25:03Tyler Johnson: We're going to sleep, huh?
- 25:04Phil: Exactly, yeah. Hey, I… I… I have… I do sleep to Macedon. I put on… I put on.
- 25:10Tyler Johnson: I do, too.
- 25:11Tyler Johnson: I will listen to Leviathan when I'm going to sleep. That record is so tight.
- 25:16Phil: Crack the Sky is my favorite one to say.
- 25:19Tyler Johnson: The practice guy is so good.
- 25:21Phil: Come on.
- 25:21Tyler Johnson: in that song specifically, Crack This Guy. Yes. Oh, my God.
- 25:25Phil: So good.
- 25:26Tyler Johnson: Anyway, Phil. So, originally, it was Ozzy that my mom was afraid of.
- 25:31Phil: Wow.
- 25:32Tyler Johnson: Then, in the early, early 90s, Marilyn Manson came on Donahue with his band, the Spooky Kids.
- 25:39Phil: Before he was… Oh, wow.
- 25:40Tyler Johnson: anything. Scared the crap out of her. She was just convinced that this… so then when he started.
- 25:46Phil: And rightfully so.
- 25:48Tyler Johnson: You know, and then when he started becoming popular, and I was wearing his t-shirts, oh my god.
- 25:53Phil: Oh, ho ho.
- 25:54Phil: Man, that is funny.
- 25:56Tyler Johnson: Anyway, alright. Alright.
- 25:58Phil: Next up is The Toxic Avenger versus the Noxious Offender, number 1, from Matt Boers and Felipe Sobriro at Ahoy. An evil duplicate of the Toxic Avenger appears in our dimension, which is bad, and Toxie's estranged father shows up, which might be worse. That's got a final order cutoff of September 7th in stores October 7th.
- 26:19Tyler Johnson: Awesome. Circus of Bones from Lake Mignola from Image,
- 26:26Tyler Johnson: This… I don't know why I ended up.
- 26:27Tad Eggleston: Graphic novels.
- 26:29Tyler Johnson: Oh!
- 26:30Tyler Johnson: Okay. We're in graphic novels there. Thanks, thanks, Tad, I missed that. I just kind of jumped down to where I was at.

- 27:22Phil: Alright, next up is FIRE from…
- 27:25Phil: Hideko Mizuno over at Uncivilized. Fire follows the meteoric rise and fall of Aaron Browning, a troubled and poor Ohio teenager. In juvenile detention, Aaron meets the magnetic delinquent Firewolf, a motorcycle-riding rebel with an extraordinary musical talent.
- 27:42Phil: Their intense bond awakens a fiery passion for music in Aaron, and he moves to Detroit's gritty factories and underground scene, where he forms the band Fire to channel his emotions, rebellion, and raw energy.
- 27:54Phil: As fame explodes, he plunges into the era's excess. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, Vietnam-era shadows, embodying the intoxicating yet destructive pursuit of freedom. Fire immerses the reader in the turbulent late 1960s, a fascinating peek at the vibrant American rock music scene of the time.
- 28:12Phil: where the final order cut off of September 28th, in stores October 28th as well. This one, there was extra solicited text about how this is actually a shoujo manga series, that is classic and historical, and kind of a missing link to a lot of the inspirations behind, some of those. So, this is… this is an extra special book, is, what I'm trying to say.
- 28:35Tad Eggleston: Cancel?
- 28:37Tad Eggleston: and Gretel.
- 28:40Tad Eggleston: Which apparently came out in bookstores, I think, last year, but it's in comic shops now. By Stephen King.

- 29:22Tyler Johnson: Awesome. Alright.

- 29:29Phil: That's okay.
- 29:30Phil: Next up, I Can't Stop Thinking About Horses and Sex by Lisa Hannawald from Drawn and Quarterly.
- 29:37Phil: From the creative mind behind Bojack Horseman and Tooken Birdie comes a fragmented memoir, poignant, punchy, and sometimes just plain gross. A deliciously candid and juicy exploration of platonic and romantic fixations, heartbreak, and the allure of horses. I Can't Stop Thinking About Horses and Sex marks the long-waited return of…
- 29:55Phil: Toucan Birdie, Bojack Horseman. Okay, it's a little repetitive designer Lisa Henwalt to comics. In this honest, silly, horny, and vulnerable memoir of a horse girl, now in her 40s.
- 30:04Phil: and reflecting back on a lifetime of obsessions. Whether Hanwalt is confronting large life issues, like whether or not to have kids, being an anxious little freak, caring for a sick horse, revisiting childhood trauma, or dealing with a major breakup and the ensuing lustfulness, she delivers a reading experience that's relatable, affirming, and almost always hilarious. In lush colors and kinetic lines, she charts the strange terrain of life, one bumpy, dusty horseback ride at a time.
- 30:29Phil: It's gonna have a final order cutoff of September 21st in stores October 20th.
- 30:36Tyler Johnson: How did you get the I Can't Stop Thinking About Horses and Sex book? I missed that one.

- 30:48Tad Eggleston: I do too.

- 31:00Tad Eggleston: Palestine and Footnotes in Gaza, and Chris Hedges, the former Middle East bureau chief for the New York Times, traveled to Cairo, where they interviewed 29 Palestinian families who had recently left Gaza.
- 31:12Tad Eggleston: In Requiem for Gaza, they use the experience and stories of these families to detail the crucible of the genocide, the loss of homes and communities, the appalling death toll among friends and loved ones, the constant displacement, the terror of indiscriminate killing, the hunger and deprivation.
- 31:31Tad Eggleston: The obliteration of all that was known and familiar, and the struggle to cope with the callous indifference of a world that continues to supply Israel with weapons despite its wholesale destruction of Gaza and mass slaughter.
- 31:45Tad Eggleston: Collective power of the individual stories that chronicle the first day of the genocide, the forced evacuation of homes, the targeted assassinations, the false hopes engendered by ceasefires, the dislocation and alienation of exile.
- 31:59Tad Eggleston: The brutal killing and hasty burial of family members and the humiliation of living under tarps without clean food and water bring every aspect of the genocide to life.
- 32:09Tad Eggleston: Set against the horror are stories of self-sacrifice and compa…
- 32:13Tad Eggleston: Compassion, that show how Palestinians not only clung to their humanity, but morally triumphed over their killers.

- 32:30Tyler Johnson: Silent Jenny from, Matthew Bablet from ONI.
- 32:35Tyler Johnson: In a not-too-distant future, climate change continues to ravage the planet, and the disappearance of insects has led to the end of pollination, rendering vast areas of land infertile.
- 32:48Tyler Johnson: A survival dynamic has emerged, mobile islands called monads have formed, and people strive to help each other, each group with its own customs, traditions, and ways of life. Jenny is a rather solitary researcher trying to restore the world as it once was.
- 33:04Tyler Johnson: She seeks to recover bee DNA to clone and recreate pollinating insects. However, she will come to realize that this is impossible.
- 33:15Tyler Johnson: The world… the old world no longer exists, and a new one must be built. She must work collectively with other Monad tribes, prioritizing mutual aid and collaboration. Final order cutoff will be September 21st, and this awesome book will be in shops October 13th.
- 33:35Tyler Johnson: And I apologize to listeners, if you can hear my pug, she is, making all kinds of noise in my arms, because she's very happy. So, she's doing her pug noises. We can't hear.

- 34:33Tyler Johnson: Cool. Muppets Noir, I've been reading this in issues, it's been really good, from Roger Landridge from Dynamite. It's time to cue the music. It's time to dim the lights.

- 34:48Tyler Johnson: started as the Muppets return tonight.
- 34:50Tad Eggleston: attend tonight.
- 34:51Tyler Johnson: Okay, the show is about to begin at the famous Muppet theater, and the regular pre-curtain chaos has the troop stalewart MC, Kermit the Frog coming apart at the seams. In an attempt to de-stress, he settles down to read a few pages of an old favorite detective novel.
- 35:09Tyler Johnson: Only to get, KO'd by an errant brick to the bean, leaving him laid out backstage as his co-stars try to coax him back to consciousness.
- 35:20Tyler Johnson: But unbeknownst to them, Kerman has taken up the hard-boiled mantle of his fictional hero to walk the darkened streets of Dreamland

- 41:29Tyler Johnson: Yeah, yeah, but again.
- 41:31Phil: Did you…
- 41:31Tyler Johnson: good, good, intro to those… I mean, if you've never really got into Dark Wars, this is.
- 41:37Tad Eggleston: And they're still really good results.
- 41:38Phil: Society, too. Absolutely.
- 41:40Tyler Johnson: Variety, yeah, there's anything and everything,
- 41:44Tyler Johnson: Anyway, that's going to the HERO Initiative, and will, be open until August 13th.
- 41:52Tyler Johnson: Alright, Tad, 3 amazing new books!
- 41:56Tad Eggleston: I'm gonna lead off with, with our, our Godzilla vs. America San Diego.
- 42:05Tad Eggleston: Stan Sakai took… took some, Godzilla to Comic-Con, and Rick and Fake did some Godzilla at Comic-Con.
- 42:19Tad Eggleston: It's the other…
- 42:25Tad Eggleston: I'm pulling it up, because I want to make certain I, A, give… give proper credit, and B,
- 42:33Tad Eggleston: It's just beautiful.
- 42:35Tad Eggleston: Stan Sakai, Greg and Fake…
- 42:40Tad Eggleston: What was the third… third full story?
- 42:45Phil: This is where.
- 42:46Tyler Johnson: I don't know.
- 42:46Phil: I was actually born in San Diego, and I've only been to Comic-Con once.
- 42:51Tyler Johnson: Holy shit.
- 42:52Phil: Back when you could still buy tickets from scalpers, I had.
- 42:56Tyler Johnson: A verbal foot.
- 42:57Phil: And my uncle bought some scalper tickets, and we limped around the stage floor. It was pretty wild.
- 43:03Tad Eggleston: See, I went to Comic-Con when I could… you could still buy tickets at the door.
- 43:09Phil: Wow!
- 43:11Tad Eggleston: Wow.
- 43:13Phil: Yeah.
- 43:14Tyler Johnson: I would.
- 43:15Tad Eggleston: To San Diego for something else.
- 43:16Tyler Johnson: Other than Comic-Con.
- 43:18Phil: How dare you?
- 43:20Tyler Johnson: How dare. Oh, hey, going back to the dark horse thing, you guys, milk and cheese is on there. If you've never read…
- 43:28Tyler Johnson: Evan… Evan Dorkin's Milk and Cheats. This Dairy Products Gone Bad story is… or book compilation, I should say, is just awesome. It's so funny.
- 43:38Tad Eggleston: The only issue I have with… with, the… the compilation is…
- 43:45Tad Eggleston: like, similar to reading comic strips sometimes. Like, Milk and Cheese is definitely very much designed to be read
- 43:54Tad Eggleston: like, weekly.
- 43:55Tyler Johnson: Correct, yeah.
- 43:56Tad Eggleston: you read too many of them in a row, and it's like, okay, I get it.
- 44:02Tyler Johnson: I mean, yeah, it's a strip. You need to…
- 44:05Tad Eggleston: Tickets.
- 44:06Tyler Johnson: Ball chunks, you know?
- 44:07Tad Eggleston: Right, right. But finishing on the Godzilla vs. San Diego, we've got a… the last story was from Dan Juergens and Margot Pipoy, but what really made it cool is they called them Artist Alley pinups, but many of them were single-page
- 44:24Tad Eggleston: comments.
- 44:26Phil: Nice.
- 44:27Tad Eggleston: From Nicole Goo, Carla Wisgala, Dave Baker, Jared Callum, Gavin Smith, and Melena Denano, Sean Galloway, Patrick Horvath, Travis Mercer, Gabby Ramirez, and Alfredo Cardona. So, like…
- 44:43Phil: Jam-packed.
- 44:44Tad Eggleston: Three multi-page comics that were cool, and then, like, 8 pinups, but again, like… Most of the pinups
- 44:58Tad Eggleston: We're… were single-page comics, not…
- 45:03Tad Eggleston: you know, probably separately, the Nicole Goo and Dave Baker stories, they did their own rather than working together, might have been my favorite.
- 45:15Tad Eggleston: in the books.
- 45:17Phil: Nice.
- 45:17Tad Eggleston: Bye.
- 45:21Tad Eggleston: though the Patrick Korovath was awfully good at, you know, I mean, just… the single-page ones were just… Fantastic.
- 45:29Phil: For some reason… I imagine that one being, like, Godzilla fighting a giant bear.
- 45:34Tad Eggleston: Let's see… Horvath, I think, is this one.
- 45:38Tad Eggleston: I don't think it was, I think it was…
- 45:42Tad Eggleston: That's… everything's loading, so the internet at this hotel is not great.
- 45:49Tyler Johnson: Sometimes Tad…
- 45:51Tad Eggleston: Sometimes I hear.
- 45:52Tyler Johnson: talking.
- 45:53Tyler Johnson: You do lag slightly. I can see your mouth move, and then we hear you about 5 seconds later. I believe it. And then…
- 46:03Tyler Johnson: But it's kind of funny. But your room… your room looks… your room looks pretty basic there. What are you doing on your, road trip to Iowa?
- 46:11Tad Eggleston: Oh, we're just meeting with, with Kelly's sister and family.
- 46:15Tad Eggleston: Nice.
- 46:16Tyler Johnson: Only they're sleeping, and you're just talking away?
- 46:18Tad Eggleston: Yep.
- 46:20Tyler Johnson: Okay, okay.
- 46:21Tad Eggleston: Because there wasn't a good place otherwise.
- 46:24Tad Eggleston: That's why I've been trying to be quieter.
- 46:27Tyler Johnson: This is the first time I saw movement behind you, so please apologize to your wife.
- 46:34Tyler Johnson: I am so sorry.
- 46:36Tad Eggleston: Anyway, Phil, take a walk.
- 46:38Phil: So this week is, my mom's birthday, so happy birthday, Mom. And, you know, she's also an awesome comics lover, so I figured I'd talk a little bit about, some of the comics she's loved over the years. The first one being Sweet Tooth, where when she was helping me move into my college apartment, there was just issues.
- 46:57Phil: I think the Volume 1 laying around and
- 46:59Phil: she was… just picked it up, started reading it, and absolutely loved it. And that started her love of Jeff Lemire.
- 47:05Phil: And then, believe it or not, it was really funny, she, she, she asked me what, she was like, I read an article about… have you heard of a book called Sex Criminals? And I was like, oh my god, mom, that book is hilarious, it's one of my absolute favorites coming out at the time. And I thought it was beyond hilarious that my mom asked me about it.
- 47:24Tyler Johnson: So, similar story, Phil. Yeah. I had the Sex Criminals omnibus, or Complete Collection Edition, which is… it's a bright pink cover with the two of them running without pants on, and Cash coming behind them.
- 47:37Tyler Johnson: So that was on my counter, because I also was reading it when that omnibus came out. And my mom also is in the house, and she just casually looks at it, and she's like.
- 47:47Tyler Johnson: Sex criminals.
- 47:51Tyler Johnson: What are you reading? Yeah, so, it was funny.
- 47:54Phil: But she didn't read it. My mom actually.
- 47:57Tyler Johnson: No!
- 47:58Phil: My mom actually read Sex Purdles, and found it hilarious, and very much enjoyed it.
- 48:03Tyler Johnson: My mom had a look of disdain on her face.
- 48:06Phil: Right?
- 48:06Tyler Johnson: Hi, Tyler.
- 48:09Tyler Johnson: You're reading about CAC?
- 48:11Phil: They're… they're saving a library, it's a worthy cause, dammit.
- 48:14Tyler Johnson: At the beginning, sure.
- 48:16Phil: Right? Yeah. And then, the most recent one I've given her was Bad Karma, you know, the action comedy about a couple of disabled vets, going to right one of their wrongs from someone falsely incriminated by a murder they committed by Alex DeCampi and…
- 48:35Phil: I am blanking on the artist, but he was awesome. I feel so bad for blanking on that artist.
- 48:43Tad Eggleston: To have a computer in front of you.
- 48:45Phil: I do… I… yeah, but I can't talk and type at the same time, you know?
- 48:50Tad Eggleston: Doing it all over the place.
- 48:53Phil: You're… congratulate… you know, you're…
- 48:56Tyler Johnson: You're like, oh my word, that Tad tries.
- 49:01Tad Eggleston: Oh, God.
- 49:01Tyler Johnson: I was just kidding.
- 49:02Tad Eggleston: Alex DeCampi and…
- 49:04Phil: Ryan Howe. Ryan Howe.
- 49:05Phil: There we go.
- 49:06Tad Eggleston: There you go.
- 49:07Phil: Almost couldn't live that down.
- 49:09Tyler Johnson: Oh man, guys, that almost derailed the whole show.
- 49:12Phil: It was… it was bad.
- 49:13Tad Eggleston: It was…
- 49:13Phil: No bad ones, we just…
- 49:14Tad Eggleston: I know.
- 49:15Phil: barely, barely scramble it, but I basically decided, I'm like, I feel like Alex DeCampi is the next writer that I want to get my mom into, comics-wise. So, that's, that's where the bad karma comes into play.
- 49:26Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, Alex DeCampi's pretty awesome.
- 49:29Phil: She is… absolutely, and it's like… It's, it, yeah.
- 49:33Tad Eggleston: I'm a big fan of her as a writer and a human being.
- 49:36Phil: Oh, yeah. She does seem like the kind of… the kind of writer that, you know.
- 49:46Phil: I'm struggling to think of, not, like, not just that my mom would like, but that my mom probably hasn't…
- 49:53Phil: She doesn't have enough…
- 49:56Phil: what am I trying to say? She… she… she might read a lot, and she reads a lot of mystery novels, but, like, she also enjoys a lot of literature, and so I feel like Alex is on that level of, like, hey, this is, like, literally really strong, not just, like, fun genre work, so that's what I was trying to get at. Tad, did you… it looks like we're both becalmed in this week's One Piece race? Yeah.
- 50:18Phil: I know.
- 50:18Tad Eggleston: I was a bit calm this week. It was a busy week.
- 50:22Phil: It is.
- 50:22Tad Eggleston: I didn't… I didn't manage to read any one piece.
- 50:25Phil: Yeah.
- 50:25Tad Eggleston: So…
- 50:27Tyler Johnson: That's too bad.
- 50:28Tad Eggleston: I'm moving in.
- 50:28Tyler Johnson: I did.
- 50:31Tyler Johnson: No. He's like, Cheer.
- 50:34Phil: 500 chapters back, like, hey, I picked it up again.
- 50:39Tad Eggleston: I would be… I would… I would be… I would be so proud of you, Tyler.
- 50:43Tyler Johnson: I've been giving it a thought. I'm like, I gotta get back into that,
- 50:48Phil: I'm still saying you should… you should do the… the stealth… the stealth overtake, just go on a marathon.
- 50:54Tyler Johnson: And just not tell you guys until I'm past.
- 50:57Phil: I had a Tad ignite a fire in his belly.
- 51:02Tad Eggleston: So, great responsibility this… this week. I thought, since there's a fantastic metal erlot bundle, Yeah.
- 51:11Tad Eggleston: we… we should explore it a little, and… and tell… particularly because, like, I…
- 51:19Tad Eggleston: I know my metal erlot pretty well, because…
- 51:23Tad Eggleston: We, we have our, our Heavy Metal Book Club.
- 51:28Tad Eggleston: But… but you guys, I didn't know how much.
- 51:31Tad Eggleston: you had experienced it, so I thought it would be fun to… To see what you thought.
- 51:38Phil: I've seen the movie, that's about it.
- 51:41Tad Eggleston: Well, that's heavy metal.
- 51:43Phil: Yeah.
- 51:44Tad Eggleston: And, and they're, they're, they're very, they're very tied, but, but they're not, they're not quite the same.
- 51:50Phil: Okay.
- 51:52Tyler Johnson: What is the… I don't know much about the… either publication. I mean, I know what they are, but I…
- 51:58Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean… They both tend to be adult, mostly sci-fi, some fantasy.
- 52:06Tyler Johnson: But are they tied together, is what.
- 52:07Tad Eggleston: Mostly European.
- 52:09Phil: Well, they're both published by…
- 52:10Tad Eggleston: The way that they're… well, no, they're not both published by humanoids. Oh. Heavy Metal is its own company. The way they're tied together is particularly in the early years.
- 52:25Tad Eggleston: much… of… Heavy Metal was reprinting Storage from metal or lawns.
- 52:34Phil: Oh.
- 52:35Tad Eggleston: United States for the first time.
- 52:39Tad Eggleston: Oh, interesting. Because Metal Hourlante is a French comics magazine.
- 52:45Tad Eggleston: Oh.
- 52:47Tad Eggleston: So, so, like… Heavy metal was the first time that a U.S. audience.
- 52:57Tad Eggleston: Or really, for a lot of them, where they were even translated into English. Not always well.
- 53:03Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 53:04Tad Eggleston: One of the things we've discovered is there's one story in particular that, like, a new translation done by New York Review Books recently made us take a story that we had
- 53:15Tad Eggleston: that I had not liked it. I mean, I guess the other people haven't read it, but we… I've shown them some samples. But took a story that I hadn't liked when I read it in heavy metal.
- 53:26Tad Eggleston: Yeah. And I like a lot.
- 53:28Tad Eggleston: With a better translation.
- 53:30Tad Eggleston: Oh, that's…
- 53:31Phil: That's an incredible translation.
- 53:32Tad Eggleston: So…
- 53:33Phil: Huge factor.
- 53:34Tad Eggleston: Right, but, yeah, so that's… that's the tie between the two.
- 53:41Phil: Okay, I didn't quite realize that it was… it was that,
- 53:45Phil: That links. That's… that's really interesting.
- 53:47Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 53:48Tad Eggleston: Metal Erlant actually, actually translates to screaming metal.
- 53:53Phil: Nice.
- 53:56Tyler Johnson: Okay.
- 53:58Tad Eggleston: So, so…
- 53:59Phil: Okay.
- 54:01Tad Eggleston: Even though it feels like, oh, it's the same title, it's not quite.
- 54:05Tad Eggleston: No.
- 54:06Phil: That's an important distinction, too.
- 54:08Tad Eggleston: But, but, but it was also… it was the… the…
- 54:14Tad Eggleston: Metal Erlant was actually founded by… Febreze Geiger, and Mobius, and…
- 54:25Tad Eggleston: Oh, I can't remember the other two guys, but, like, an absolute who's who of… Late 60s, early 70s.
- 54:36Tad Eggleston: Band-Aid is nay.
- 54:38Tad Eggleston: artists. Like, so, so the… The craft is just on… on a different… different level, and… and also,
- 54:53Tad Eggleston: very different.
- 54:56Tad Eggleston: from a lot of US comics, particularly if you're used to superhero comics, which is why, like.
- 55:04Tad Eggleston: I was so happy to start the book club, because, like, when we started the book club, it was… it was something that I hadn't.
- 55:11Tad Eggleston: exposed, you know, I read The Inkle, I'd read a handful of other humanoids titles, but I didn't have a lot of experience, and to be able to work through,
- 55:23Tad Eggleston: anthology series to get this… this feeling for this… this other corner of comics was… was pretty fun. Now, what we're looking at here is actually probably…
- 55:38Tad Eggleston: One of the…
- 55:44Tad Eggleston: I mean, at least for me, I like everything I've read from the 60s
- 55:50Tad Eggleston: 70s and early 80s, better than most of what I read here, and I also like everything I've read in the new volumes.
- 55:58Phil: Oh, okay.
- 55:59Tad Eggleston: than a lot of what I've read here, so this might represent kind of a lull in
- 56:05Tad Eggleston: And I'll be honest, and it's one of the reasons that I want you guys to go first, the other reason being that I have more experience, I didn't actually read every story in the one that, like… I started every one of them, and if it didn't wind up grabbing me, I moved on, because it's like, I felt like…
- 56:23Tad Eggleston: A, I can speak to the overall concept, and B, I wanted to highlight the ones that felt
- 56:32Tad Eggleston: like, there was a purpose to me highlighting them, so… so, like, I didn't want it to be just the story that I picked out. I wanted it to be art, I wanted it to be…
- 56:43Tad Eggleston: something special.
- 56:45Phil: Absolutely. I mean, I had a similar issue at… well, I had a similar strategy to reading, where I went through just… just reading through the art, you know? Like, not reading the bubbles, but looking at the art styles, and honestly, like, a lot of the coloring was very, like, gray and brown, you know?
- 57:04Phil: Like, it looked like early 2000s attempt at photorealistic, and…
- 57:10Phil: Yeah, it wasn't all my cup of tea, but I did find, actually, 3 stories in a row that…
- 57:16Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 57:16Phil: this, this was… this is the thing that I thought was really interesting, is that once… so it's like, they put the, the American comics people up front, you know, the ones that anyone just opening and flipping through might be like, oh, I know this name, oh, I know this name.
- 57:30Phil: And then, like, as you get into it, that's where you get the more European styles, and honestly, anytime someone was coloring themselves, it looked way stronger than, when they brought in a colorist, so…
- 57:43Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 57:43Phil: So the first one up for me was Spare Parts by Stuart Moore, Coley Hamner, and Clements, which…
- 57:52Tad Eggleston: Moore has… who's been on 22 panels.
- 57:54Phil: Yep, yep.
- 57:55Tad Eggleston: Who fits?
- 57:56Phil: Who's, head of, Ahoy Comics now.
- 57:59Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 57:59Phil: Yeah, yeah. I think he actually follows me on Blue Sky, for some reason.
- 58:05Tad Eggleston: me.
- 58:06Phil: Yeah, he seems like a good guy, for that alone. But, it… it was a really interesting story about a, dictator who comes to power, and a man who becomes his body double.
- 58:19Phil: And the, you know, kind of using that framework as a look into Middle Eastern,
- 58:29Phil: dictator politics, and it was… it was a really, it was a really interesting story. You know, just…
- 58:38Phil: again, it was one of those things where I… because I had this similar thought going through, where I'm like, okay, what makes this metal or on? Like, what sets this apart from the
- 58:48Phil: any other type of comic. And, like, I think really just this range of going from a political story like that to next…
- 58:56Phil: Overdose by Jim McDonald and Deep High, which was a weird, trippy story about, junkies who… one of them starts, astral projecting while…
- 59:09Phil: Intoxicated and having sex, and it just kind of…
- 59:13Phil: you know, it… the art really sucked me in there, and looked absolutely incredible. And the story kind of ends on a, okay, wait, what? Not in a, like, a big twist sort of way, but just kind of like an, huh, sort of way?
- 59:28Phil: Which was interesting. And then, of course, the one after that was The Photo Taker by Guy Davis and Jerry Friszen.
- 59:35Tad Eggleston: That, that, that one was seriously fun.
- 59:38Phil: Oh, yes, I love Guy Davis so much. I have missed his art in my reading, like.
- 59:44Phil: every single panel… I just… I could… I could gush about Guy Davis, just the fact that he's… he's…
- 59:53Phil: He's a self-taught cartoonist.
- 59:55Phil: that…
- 59:56Phil: is, like, absolutely perfect. Like, there's nothing he can't draw. The silent storytelling he does is so strong, of just, like, looks, these fully rendered environments, and it was basically a two-tone, where it was just blue, white, and his lines, and I think other shades of blue as kind of a… kind of an offset. And it's just… yeah.
- 1:00:16Phil: If there's only one story to read, that one was my absolute favorite, flipping through it.
- 1:00:22Tyler Johnson: I, also read a Guy Davis one, but I'll get to that in a second. The first one, that I really liked was the first one in the…
- 1:00:31Tad Eggleston: Really quick question for you, Tyler.
- 1:00:35Tyler Johnson: Yeah.
- 1:00:36Tad Eggleston: You seem to have read a different volume than we did. Do you… Do you…
- 1:00:43Tad Eggleston: Because I didn't recognize all of the stories that you… put up.
- 1:00:48Tyler Johnson: I wonder here.
- 1:00:50Tad Eggleston: Which, which, which volume did you open up and read?
- 1:00:54Tyler Johnson: Let's see… I ain't headed on my phone.
- 1:01:01Phil: Same here.
- 1:01:02Tyler Johnson: What's that?
- 1:01:03Phil: Same here, I also read them on my phone, but but, you know, it…
- 1:01:09Phil: they went pretty well. Like, that's… that's the thing, is the… when the Guy Davis art jumps off my phone.
- 1:01:15Phil: And it's still phenomenal. It's like, ugh.
- 1:01:19Phil: Absolutely. I mean, and that's where, like, I'm glad that he's working as a concept artist with Guillermo del Toro, you know, I'm glad he has a good position where he's able to do stuff, but, like, man, I miss his comics.
- 1:01:34Tyler Johnson: Mmm, yeah, I'm looking at yours now, Tad. I did read something else that I had found. I'm sorry, I thought there was just one thing.
- 1:01:40Phil: Not all metal or laund is made the same.
- 1:01:43Tyler Johnson: No, I… I… never mind. Okay.
- 1:01:47Tyler Johnson: Well, I read other metal Erlance stories.
- 1:01:51Tad Eggleston: No, I'm just trying to figure out where they were from, because we should plug them.
- 1:01:56Phil: Well, I will…
- 1:01:56Tyler Johnson: I will get that information as soon as I'm done talking here, but the Hunter.
- 1:02:01Tad Eggleston: Yeah!
- 1:02:01Tyler Johnson: was the first one in that series by Kurt Busiak, and I picked that one because I love, the, Kurt Busiak Astro City.
- 1:02:12Tyler Johnson: So, what I found about that that I really liked was, that… this was, like,
- 1:02:27Tyler Johnson: Provides, like, a… like a… Haunting… it's very atmospheric in this story, science fiction kind of story.
- 1:02:34Tyler Johnson: about survival and things like that, and it came with the art by Gerald Perel?
- 1:02:43Tyler Johnson: Which I'm not familiar, obviously a French artist. But, his art was hyper-detail, you guys, so it worked perfectly with Boussiac's storytelling, you know?
- 1:02:56Phil: I liked… I did like the art of that one, that one was, was really cool.
- 1:03:00Phil: Yeah.
- 1:03:01Tyler Johnson: And so, that one was in the thing that you guys read, right?
- 1:03:05Phil: Yeah, yeah, that was just the second story for us.
- 1:03:08Tyler Johnson: It was the first one in the thing I read. Okay. Well, and then I also… the second one and the one that I was reading is The Zombies That Ate the World.
- 1:03:17Tyler Johnson: So, that was by Jerry Frizzen, and, again, Guy Davis. So when you talk about Guy Davis' artwork, and you talk about, for me, look, man, what's the word? You know, like, you talk… he was self-taught.
- 1:03:35Tyler Johnson: Okay, this is not a knock-on guide.
- 1:03:39Tyler Johnson: But it shows that he was self-taught.
- 1:03:42Tyler Johnson: Yeah. Because of the way he chooses to do things, and…
- 1:03:46Phil: So you don't.
- 1:03:47Tyler Johnson: I feel like when you're a really good artist, you know what rules you can break to create your own style.
- 1:03:52Phil: Yeah.
- 1:03:53Tyler Johnson: with Guy, I feel like he never learned the rules, and we've all just accepted, like, oh, that's just his style, you know? It's not good, but…
- 1:04:03Phil: I disagree! See, I mean, as far as… as far as goodness, like, it's one of those things where, like, yeah…
- 1:04:09Tyler Johnson: Here's what I.
- 1:04:09Phil: It's not… Well, he… I think you're absolutely right in that he's not, like.
- 1:04:14Phil: from that, like… I agree that his work does look self-taught, in the sense that, like, okay, he clearly came at it from a different angle than most people who learn anatomy and cartooning and stuff.
- 1:04:28Phil: But, like, the crunchiness is part of what I love about it. Like, it's got so much character and charisma in his linework that, like…
- 1:04:36Phil: like, you know, cause there's other… there's other… I mean, like, this, this, that would be, like…
- 1:04:41Tyler Johnson: Is there a new series that he's doing, like, Ash and something, on Keen Spot?
- 1:04:48Phil: Oh, man, I haven't… I haven't heard of that, I'm not aware.
- 1:04:51Tyler Johnson: Yeah, but anyway…
- 1:04:55Phil: Imagine if I said Jeff Lemire has a not-good art style, you know?
- 1:05:00Tyler Johnson: Jeff Lemire, though, is… here's the thing, I… I am the same way about guys who are like, oh, I'm an awesome musician, but I never learned how to read. I'm like, well, then you're not an awesome musician.
- 1:05:12Tyler Johnson: Good.
- 1:05:13Phil: Yeah.
- 1:05:13Tyler Johnson: I, I, I, I find it to be, I find…
- 1:05:17Tyler Johnson: I'm not saying everyone needs to be trained.
- 1:05:22Tyler Johnson: But I feel like,
- 1:05:25Tyler Johnson: We don't… and I don't mean this about Guy, I just mean this in general.
- 1:05:30Tyler Johnson: I'm not a fan of celebrating, people who,
- 1:05:37Tyler Johnson: Not necessarily learn on their own.
- 1:05:41Tyler Johnson: but then have this chip on their shoulder that, like, they're… they're so good, they don't even know how to, you know, do blah blah blah, and look what they can do. I'm like…
- 1:05:51Tyler Johnson: Yeah, but what do you think they could do if they learned the proper techniques?
- 1:05:55Phil: I think… I definitely agree that, ignorance shouldn't be celebrated.
- 1:06:02Tyler Johnson: Yeah, I mean, that's the way I'm…
- 1:06:04Phil: I know, and I think…
- 1:06:05Tyler Johnson: The guy is bad.
- 1:06:06Phil: Right, right. I agree with you that I think people who are like, I can only read guitar tabs, I can't read sheet music, like, yeah, that's a little bit… that's a little bit ignorant, you know? And maybe you shouldn't brag about that, but, like, that's… there's a huge difference between that and, like.
- 1:06:21Phil: self-teaching, you know? And, like, learning from doing and those sorts of stuff, you know? Like, I think that people who find their own way into an art form, like.
- 1:06:33Phil: there's a difference between, oh, I just… I did what I… what I could, and, like.
- 1:06:39Phil: oh, I am actively shunning,
- 1:06:43Phil: an aspect of the work, you know? Like, it's… it's a bit different. But I see what you're saying.
- 1:06:49Tyler Johnson: Yeah, but you're right, though, Jeff Vermeer also has a loose style,
- 1:06:55Tyler Johnson: But, anyway, the third, one that I picked was in… in what I wrote, it was number 6 in the lineup. Who's Dreaming Now? This was Alejandro Jodorowsky, from The Inkl, and then, art with Jeromeo Pena.
- 1:07:13Phil: Hell yeah.
- 1:07:13Tyler Johnson: It's really, really psychological, short little piece that, you know, really…
- 1:07:18Tad Eggleston: This is… this is one of the reasons why I'm trying to figure out what you read, because…
- 1:07:22Phil: I wanna read that story!
- 1:07:26Tyler Johnson: Okay, I will… I will send it to you guys. I gotta… I think I…
- 1:07:28Tad Eggleston: Because it's…
- 1:07:29Tyler Johnson: Finding the thing on my phone.
- 1:07:30Tad Eggleston: I don't know that stuff.
- 1:07:31Tyler Johnson: I bet.
- 1:07:32Tad Eggleston: And I love Joe Dorowski.
- 1:07:33Phil: Yeah.
- 1:07:34Tyler Johnson: Yeah, okay, I'll send it… I'll send you what I read.
- 1:07:38Tyler Johnson: sometimes, you know, when I'm doing things like spur of the moment, like last night, like, trying to fit in my reading while I'm working, I'm sorry it's, like, not the right one, but they're good stories, they were really good. This was, Exploring Joy.
- 1:07:50Tad Eggleston: Well, and that's okay, because the overall idea was to just…
- 1:07:55Tad Eggleston: talk about metal or a lot.
- 1:07:57Tad Eggleston: I mean, the downside being that I think that this story might not be in the Humble Bundle, but that's not reason not to get the Humble Bundle.
- 1:08:06Tyler Johnson: Correct, it's probably not, because I went off on my own.
- 1:08:10Tyler Johnson: path, but… This was a very psycho… dark psychological short piece that, like.
- 1:08:16Tyler Johnson: it's mind-bending, you know what I mean? And it explores his, you know, normal…
- 1:08:23Tyler Johnson: trademark of, like, psychological consciousness, shifting identity, that kind of crap. I shouldn't call it crap, but that kind of stuff. And I find it really exciting. And then, of course, I love Jerome's artwork all the way back from, like, X-Force stuff.
- 1:08:39Tyler Johnson: Being an X-Force fan, and an X-Men. So…
- 1:08:44Tyler Johnson: Yeah, I loved it. And I am gonna go back and read that version of Metal Ehlont that you sent us, Tad.
- 1:08:52Phil: Well, so I think… I would… I would guess that… because there was also a Jerome Opena story in the volume we read, so I… I would guess that maybe that was before X-Force, because X-Force came out in, like, the…
- 1:09:06Phil: 2010s? Like, late 2009, 2010? Yes. Yeah, so…
- 1:09:10Tyler Johnson: It was, it was, yeah, but I have never read any of this stuff, so…
- 1:09:14Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 1:09:17Phil: This is where…
- 1:09:18Tyler Johnson: Anywho…
- 1:09:18Phil: Bo Pena did, sorry, you go ahead, Tad.
- 1:09:22Tad Eggleston: No, no, that's, that, that's cool. I, I, I, I…
- 1:09:27Tad Eggleston: I will quickly, photo taker, you already talked about… talked about. I like the humor of that.
- 1:09:33Tad Eggleston: The one that I really like the humor of, and I'm surprised… I guess, like, I'm less surprised now that I discovered that Tyler didn't read it. Shame on You by Francois
- 1:09:48Tad Eggleston: book.
- 1:09:50Phil: I like.
- 1:09:50Tad Eggleston: It seems like a… yeah, overall, it seems like a very, very, down-to-earth, like…
- 1:10:00Tad Eggleston: Following the paths of a couple old people just walking through their days, but then… then it finishes with the joke of following their paths, and their paths
- 1:10:12Tad Eggleston: Created dirty drawings.
- 1:10:14Phil: Right, oh my gosh.
- 1:10:16Tad Eggleston: And that was just fun. Phototaker, like I said, you talked about. I picked out King's Crown, not because King's Crown in and of itself was great,
- 1:10:27Tad Eggleston: I mean, I thought it was very good, but Richard Corbin and his… Fantastic painted art.
- 1:10:34Tad Eggleston: Oh, yeah. It's been a major feature of metal Erland and, and, and heavy metal.
- 1:10:41Phil: So good.
- 1:10:42Tad Eggleston: So I wanted to… I wanted to pick… yeah, I wanted to pick Adam Corbin.
- 1:10:48Tad Eggleston: So yeah, I still think for next week, you guys should pick… A volume that's not…
- 1:10:56Tad Eggleston: metal or launch.
- 1:10:58Tad Eggleston: And, or, I mean, we can do it one of two ways,
- 1:11:05Tad Eggleston: You guys can pick a volume that we can all read and talk about, or all three of us can pick a single volume.
- 1:11:14Tad Eggleston: From… from the, the… the heavy metal… Humble Bundle.
- 1:11:21Tad Eggleston: and talk about it individually. Either way, but… but I… I wanna, I wanna spend another week highlighting
- 1:11:30Tad Eggleston: This Humble Bundle, just because it's… it's such a good one.
- 1:11:35Tad Eggleston: And… and I… I feel like…
- 1:11:44Tad Eggleston: like, the comics and manga crowd don't cross over nearly enough, but the… but the comics and Band-Aid to Snee crowd…
- 1:11:53Tad Eggleston: Really don't cross over enough.
- 1:11:58Tad Eggleston: So… like, I think it would be great to explore Explore some more of this.
- 1:12:06Tad Eggleston: while it's available at a low price, and again, like, I'm hoping that since it says Universes Unbound Part 1, that…
- 1:12:15Tad Eggleston: That will mean that… We're actually getting…
- 1:12:22Tyler Johnson: She wants to say goodbye.
- 1:12:23Tad Eggleston: Hi, Reyna.
- 1:12:24Phil: Good morning.
- 1:12:25Tad Eggleston: That, that we'll actually be getting more of these in short order.
- 1:12:30Tad Eggleston: Which would be really great. So, we'll see.
- 1:12:36Tad Eggleston: But and maybe you guys will get so hooked that you'll start coming to Heavy Metal Book Club.
- 1:12:42Tyler Johnson: I carry it in the store,
- 1:12:45Tad Eggleston: Do you?
- 1:12:45Tyler Johnson: In my store.
- 1:12:46Tyler Johnson: I should.
- 1:12:48Tad Eggleston: Just the heavy metal, or the Metal Erlant as well? Because Metal Erlant is coming out in…
- 1:12:53Tad Eggleston: Single, big, thick, 250-page issues.
- 1:12:58Tyler Johnson: Yeah.
- 1:12:59Tyler Johnson: No, no, I've just been getting the current heavy metal issues that have been coming out.
- 1:13:03Tad Eggleston: The current heavy metal is very good. Right now, I think I lean just slightly towards metal. Erlant is putting out the better stuff right now. They both rebooted this year after going through financial difficulties.
- 1:13:18Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:13:19Tyler Johnson: Well, I will get Metal Erlant, on my, order as well. I'm putting in my stuff for.
- 1:13:24Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I don't, I don't know…
- 1:13:26Tad Eggleston: I don't know if it's available through any of the easy distributors, like whether you.
- 1:13:32Tyler Johnson: I know.
- 1:13:33Tad Eggleston: that out.
- 1:13:35Tyler Johnson: Probably.
- 1:13:35Tad Eggleston: Never.
- 1:13:36Tyler Johnson: grants, right? Or where… where's it?
- 1:13:38Tad Eggleston: Bye.
- 1:13:40Tad Eggleston: No, it's a U.S. version. It's a US version. It is.
- 1:13:43Tyler Johnson: Okay, okay, okay.
- 1:13:45Tad Eggleston: I mean, I have a personal subscription.
- 1:13:48Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 1:13:49Tyler Johnson: Oh, you do? Okay.
- 1:13:50Tad Eggleston: Anyway, we…
- 1:13:53Phil: buy the Humble Bundle and print out…
- 1:13:57Tyler Johnson: Don't do it like me and go looking for your own version.
- 1:14:02Tad Eggleston: All right, three books I hope will be spectacular. Despite the fact that it's a fifth week and a light week next week, there's some really good stuff. Is Tad Okay? Number 6, wrapping up the series from Dave Chisholm at Mad Cave.
- 1:14:19Tad Eggleston: kind of a sleeper pick. I really enjoyed the Eye Collector number one, and the second issue from Jonathan Ball, and GMB.
- 1:14:28Tad Eggleston: Comichock comes out from Image next week, and then, Nano number 1 from Matt Kent and Natasha Ustos at Dark Horse.
- 1:14:39Tad Eggleston: I'm looking at my…
- 1:14:40Tyler Johnson: I'm looking at my lunar… my lunar receipt right here, Tad, and I have got iCollector number 2 highlighted that, as a must-read, so…
- 1:14:50Phil: Nice.
- 1:14:51Tad Eggleston: There you go.
- 1:14:52Phil: Yeah.
- 1:14:53Tad Eggleston: Phil, what's your giant-sized trade waiter graphic novel pick?
- 1:14:59Phil: that's gonna be Event Horizon Dark Descent from Christian Ward and Tristan Jones over at IDW,
- 1:15:06Tyler Johnson: Correct. Picked it, pick a different one.
- 1:15:08Phil: What?
- 1:15:09Tyler Johnson: I just…
- 1:15:11Phil: I mean, I've been wrong before, so…
- 1:15:13Tyler Johnson: I'm like, nope.
- 1:15:14Phil: Wrong.
- 1:15:16Tad Eggleston: Actually, your pick from… your pick… your pick from last week doesn't come out until this week, so, I mean…
- 1:15:21Phil: You son of a bee sting, what am I doing?
- 1:15:23Tyler Johnson: What was it? I was gone.
- 1:15:25Phil: What was my pick? I don't fully.
- 1:15:27Tad Eggleston: Our sub-state heart.
- 1:15:29Phil: Oh, our sustained heart!
- 1:15:30Tad Eggleston: Or sustained heart.
- 1:15:32Phil: I need to stop using League of Comic Geeks, they are leading me astray way too often.
- 1:15:37Tyler Johnson: You and I both, why do.
- 1:15:38Phil: Yeah.
- 1:15:38Tyler Johnson: all the time.
- 1:15:39Phil: Yeah, but, yes, this is…
- 1:15:42Tad Eggleston: The later in the month, the later in the month you get, and the more graphic… and more with graphic novels than single issues, like, because League of Comic Geeks is user-supported.
- 1:15:58Phil: Yeah.
- 1:15:58Tad Eggleston: Like, often what gets put up Is whatever's in the catalog.
- 1:16:03Tad Eggleston: So if a release date changes, it doesn't necessarily get updated.
- 1:16:08Tyler Johnson: Hmm.
- 1:16:09Tad Eggleston: Certainly not before the book comes out.
- 1:16:12Phil: I just need to cross-reference it with stuff, I guess, I don't know. But this is… I don't remember.
- 1:16:17Tad Eggleston: Cross-referencing is good.
- 1:16:19Phil: Yeah, I don't remember if it's the first or second series of Event Horizon comics from Christian Ward, but for those who don't know, Event Horizon was a sci-fi horror movie from, I want to say, the late 90s? I definitely saw it, and it was… it was crazy. It's,
- 1:16:35Phil: It's actually, like.
- 1:16:38Phil: really… it's, like, half the basis of the comic Nameless from Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham. That one's, like, a more…
- 1:16:47Phil: like, they increase the psychological aspects, but it's also, like, space horror, crazy stuff. So yeah, so it's a good one.
- 1:16:55Tad Eggleston: Alrighty.
- 1:16:56Tyler Johnson: also.
- 1:16:57Tad Eggleston: Tyler, that's your cue.
- 1:16:59Tyler Johnson: Oh, I know. I'm looking… guys, I got these really cute, Hello Kitty Wolverine Deadpool stickers, and I'm trying to decide if I should do a wrap-around on my Deadpool Wolverine motif already.
- 1:17:13Phil: I mean, you gotta put at least a few.
- 1:17:14Tad Eggleston: palsy.
- 1:17:15Phil: You know, you gotta, you gotta, you know, they're on themes, so you gotta put them.
- 1:17:18Tad Eggleston: Or just make a new water bottle.
- 1:17:21Tad Eggleston: I have two water bottles. What?
- 1:17:24Phil: You gotta have a Wolverine water bottle and a Deadpool.
- 1:17:26Tad Eggleston: Well, one of them can be for cold, and one of them can be for hot.
- 1:17:31Tyler Johnson: What do you guys use for water?
- 1:17:33Phil: One…
- 1:17:33Tyler Johnson: I'm on a walla. I love this thing.
- 1:17:35Phil: Oh, I… I… I have a thermos that I use… overuse, really.
- 1:17:43Tyler Johnson: Are you anti-water?
- 1:17:44Phil: No, I love water. I mostly drink water.
- 1:17:47Tyler Johnson: Just kidding. All right, guys, this has been fun. I like just messing with us and going off on a really stupid tangent. It's been fun. This is 22 Panels. What episode is this, Tad? Let's look. Let's…
- 1:18:01Tad Eggleston: Episode number 246, and I want to say 904 overall.
- 1:18:06Tyler Johnson: NL4, I think. Yep, total.
- 1:18:08Phil: Wow.
- 1:18:09Tyler Johnson: Yeah, so when you hit 1,000, what should we do?
- 1:18:13Phil: He's got plans already.
- 1:18:15Tyler Johnson: You have plans?
- 1:18:17Phil: You mentioned… you mentioned, that you had one that you were hoping you could get to being 1,000 by the time it happens?
- 1:18:23Tad Eggleston: Well, I said it would be cool to hit 1,000 for, like, the 5th anniversary, but if not the 5th anniversary, it'd be kind of cool if it was the baseball roundtable.
- 1:18:33Phil: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:34Tad Eggleston: Who knows?
- 1:18:35Phil: I guess those are plans to 1,000, not after 1,000.
- 1:18:39Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 1:18:40Phil: Yeah.
- 1:18:41Tad Eggleston: Alright, we'll figure it out.
- 1:18:42Phil: After a thousand, we reboot.
- 1:18:43Tad Eggleston: Something will happen.
- 1:18:45Phil: 22… panels extremely.
- 1:18:48Tad Eggleston: No.
- 1:18:50Tyler Johnson: 22 panels after dark.
- 1:18:51Phil: That would be kind of fun. We already do 22 panels after dark.
- 1:18:55Tyler Johnson: Alright guys, thanks for listening. Tad's gotta shut up so his wife can go back to sleep.
- 1:19:02Tyler Johnson: Thanks for listening, and we will catch you guys after the next page. See ya!
