- 0:51So please follow me. OK, All right, let's get into
- 0:53the stories for today. The first story that I have for
- 0:56you guys is Tara's world is beefing with Tana Mojo over the
- 1:02halter top situation. I really didn't think I would
- 1:05ever talk about this halter top situation again, but here we
- 1:08are. So last week I covered how
- 1:10TikTok star Tara Lynn AKA Tara's world had this huge drama on
- 1:15TikTok where basically she wanted to wear a specific halter
- 1:18top for New Year's Eve. It was sold out.
- 1:21She asked her followers, does anybody have this top that I
- 1:23could borrow? She ended up making a deal with
- 1:26a girl that lived relatively close by and she was going to
- 1:29send her the top and then Tara said that this girl ghosted her.
- 1:33Sorry, I don't, I always call her Tara, but I actually think
- 1:36it's Tara. Anyways, I think I go back and
- 1:39forth so apologies. So it turned into this whole
- 1:41thing because Tara made a video saying that this girl played
- 1:45her. Basically she was like she's a
- 1:46hater and she played me. And then this girl commented
- 1:49being like, hi, it's me, I'm a nurse and I ended up having to
- 1:53stay late. I didn't ghost you.
- 1:54I couldn't look at my phone. And then she also, this girl
- 1:57posted screenshots of alleged messages between herself and
- 2:01Tara in which Tara was really not being super nice to her.
- 2:04Now, before I talk about how Tana was involved, I wanted to
- 2:07give you guys a couple updates because there are actually some
- 2:10new theories since I reported on this that I just haven't
- 2:14mentioned on the pod. First, there's a lot of
- 2:17speculation that the user who claims to be a nurse isn't
- 2:19actually a nurse. There's lots of reasons why
- 2:22people think she's probably not a nurse and I mean, we will
- 2:24probably never know. I think it doesn't matter so
- 2:29much in this situation though, because the outrage was more
- 2:31about the fact that Tara thought it was appropriate, first of
- 2:35all, to ask her followers to borrow their clothes and also
- 2:40the how she allegedly spoke to this follower of hers in the
- 2:43DMS. Second, the other theory I've seen is that the user was
- 2:47actually Tara herself trying to drum up views and controversy.
- 2:51We know she's been talking a lot about how she's quote UN quote
- 2:53broke lately. She's had to move houses.
- 2:56So a lot of people think maybe she herself is the nurse and she
- 2:59did this to drum up like her own controversy again, literally,
- 3:03who knows? OK, so back to Tana.
- 3:05So Tana and Tara have been friends for years and used to
- 3:09occasionally create content together.
- 3:11As we know, Tana recently stopped the Canceled podcast,
- 3:14which was an outlet for her to be able to share her opinion on
- 3:17Internet drama. And since Canceled ended, she's
- 3:20been saying here and there that she misses having that outlet
- 3:23because she has so many opinions about things that come up.
- 3:25But she's trying to be like brand safe right now in her
- 3:29drama free era. So she will occasionally touch
- 3:33on Internet drama on TikTok. And this is how the whole
- 3:37situation with Tara started because she decided that she was
- 3:39going to post a video about this whole situation.
- 3:42So Tana made a TikTok commenting on the halter top situation
- 3:45saying that as influencers you shouldn't be asking to borrow
- 3:49things from your followers because there is a power
- 3:51imbalance, which I totally agree with.
- 3:53And that maybe this halter top situation is just rage bait and
- 3:57maybe Tara is actually the nurse herself because she's done quote
- 4:00a lot of calculated things before on the Internet.
- 4:03I do not think that we as influencers or celebrities
- 4:07should be asking to borrow things from our fans.
- 4:10I, I feel like my fans are my friends.
- 4:12We have a very, whenever someone comes up to me and says like,
- 4:15oh, this is parasocial, I always say, I don't think it's
- 4:17parasocial. I share everything.
- 4:18You share everything with me. We do have a very friendship
- 4:21like bond. But I also understand that as
- 4:25the person on the opposite side of the power imbalance, that
- 4:28there are certain lines I cannot cross with my fans because
- 4:30that's what it is. It's a power imbalance.
- 4:32They are a fan of me and I cannot take advantage of them.
- 4:35Part of me also thinks that this entire thing is Class A rage
- 4:38bait. Like put it on her IMDb and give
- 4:40her an Oscar slash. Is she the nurse slash like all
- 4:44of you? Because she's done a lot of
- 4:45calculated things before on the Internet and has said it that
- 4:49she does those to make money to pay for certain things, whether
- 4:51it's Harry Styles or her mortgage.
- 4:53You know, if it isn't rage bait, I just simply don't understand
- 4:56that you have all the power, money, agency and tools to hire
- 5:00a stylist to source you the exact same top or something
- 5:03similar to find it for sale online in another way, etcetera,
- 5:08or to get a different talk. It would be one thing.
- 5:11I was trying to rationalize it too.
- 5:12It's like if you were looking for a one of 10 item and maybe
- 5:15it was your 21st birthday and you had a whole photo shoot that
- 5:20was relying around this one one of 10 item and you really
- 5:23couldn't find it. But then still it's just like
- 5:26get another thing. I just all that for I don't
- 5:30know. Tara has now responded and here
- 5:32is what she said. There is probably nothing worse
- 5:35than somebody you've been a fan of for so long, like just
- 5:38jumping on the hate train and putting you down publicly.
- 5:40Like I have been a fan of Tana Mojo since I was 16 years old.
- 5:44I've watched every single YouTube video, every single
- 5:46podcast episode, every TikTok, every YouTube video and podcast
- 5:50episode that she's been in of somebody else.
- 5:52I've watched everything she's ever put out.
- 5:54I she makes me so happy really every time I see her face now on
- 5:58my TikTok, I just get sad because like, I don't know, she
- 6:02talked shit about me like a bunch of times on the cancelled
- 6:04podcast. And honestly like I didn't
- 6:06really care when that happened. But the other day she made a
- 6:10TikTok about me and it just felt like, it feels like she was just
- 6:12dog piling on to me like the rest of the Internet and kicking
- 6:16me while I was down. And she knows how much I love
- 6:18her and she knows how much of I remember in one of the cancelled
- 6:21podcast episodes, Brooke was literally like she was like, can
- 6:24I stop? Like Tara's a huge fan of us
- 6:26Like, why are you saying all this?
- 6:28And I'm like, I don't know, it just also feels like recently
- 6:31she doesn't really have like any opinions of her own.
- 6:34It just feels like she takes the side of the majority of the
- 6:37people so that she doesn't get cancelled or it's just so sad.
- 6:41I've been a fan girl my whole life with like musicians and
- 6:44influencers and I've never like experienced this before.
- 6:47And I think it's finally at the point where like I can't watch
- 6:50her things anymore because like, she just makes me.
- 6:52It just makes me so sad. So the general consensus online
- 6:55seems to be that Tana wasn't wrong in what she said about
- 6:58Tara, but one of the main reasons they claimed to stop the
- 7:02canceled podcast was because they didn't like to continually
- 7:05talk about other people, especially their peers in the
- 7:08influencer space. They didn't like to talk about
- 7:10drama. So people are like, Tana, either
- 7:13leave it behind or let's bring canceled back.
- 7:17All right, the next story that I have for you guys, I don't like
- 7:20to cover this person very often, but there is a reason why I'm
- 7:23covering this and I will get into that.
- 7:25But Pearl Davis has thrown a quote silent temper tantrum in
- 7:29this viral debate that people cannot stop clipping.
- 7:33So every so often a story with Pearl it makes sense to cover
- 7:37within the context of of what we try and do here at Centennial
- 7:41World. And today is one of those
- 7:43instances. So conservative influencer
- 7:46Hannah Pearl Davis, AKA Pearl Davis recently debated
- 7:49experienced political commentator Ana Kasparian at a
- 7:53World War debate event in Atlantic City.
- 7:56And everyone is talking about how the outcome did not go well
- 7:59for Pearl. If you're not across Pearl, her
- 8:02personal brand online is essentially being anti feminist
- 8:05and pushing like really red pilled esque rhetoric.
- 8:09However, over the years, there have been several instances
- 8:12where Pearl has either not been able to hold her own and like,
- 8:16back up her opinions when she's on a podcast, when she's being
- 8:20interviewed, when she's having a debate like this.
- 8:22And a few years ago, an alleged former friend of Pearls spoke
- 8:26out publicly about her, saying that her current views that she
- 8:29espouses online do not line up with who Pearl was growing up
- 8:34for her whole life, her family dynamic.
- 8:37And so her friend at the time was kind of speculating that
- 8:39it's possible her entire online persona is for views and money,
- 8:43essentially, that she's a grifter.
- 8:45And that is why I wanted to cover this story today.
- 8:48So this debate with Anna seems to confirm at least some of
- 8:52those speculations. In several moments captured on
- 8:55camera, Pearl went strangely quiet between questions,
- 8:59sometimes looking out to the audience and laughing to
- 9:01herself. Online users are labeling these
- 9:04pauses as silent temper tantrums and suggesting that she ran out
- 9:09of responses under pressure, probably because she doesn't
- 9:13actually know what she's saying or fully agree with the points
- 9:17that she's supposed to be debating on.
- 9:19Pearl isn't saying anything. What?
- 9:23What? The.
- 9:27Fuck, are you just making things up?
- 9:36Pearl, what are you doing? Like seriously.
- 9:39And this is just a really good example of how these people and
- 9:41their talking points completely crack under the pressure of
- 9:45being faced with an opponent that actually knows what they're
- 9:48talking about and is able to completely dissect each and
- 9:52every one of these talking points with facts.
- 9:55And logic. And then Pearl later said on a
- 9:57live stream that her silence wasn't due to being unprepared,
- 10:00but rather because she was angry at how Anna responded to her
- 10:03points in the stream. She jokingly mimicked her own
- 10:06silence and even said that part of her frustration was physical,
- 10:09claiming that she wanted to, quote, beat Anna's ass but held
- 10:13back because she didn't want to get in trouble with the police.
- 10:15OK, what did I mean? Even for Pearl?
- 10:18What a crazy tone deaf things to say at this current time.
- 10:23OK so I was talking to Annabelle kind of debating if I should
- 10:27cover this story today or not. I don't love to platform Pearl
- 10:31and I also wondered if this story really has much to it.
- 10:35And basically I said to Annabelle I don't think Pearl is
- 10:38relevant enough anymore to cover this story.
- 10:41I think the exact wording that I used was, who the fuck is she
- 10:44even influencing these days anyways?
- 10:46And I still do stand by that somewhat.
- 10:48Like I know a lot of those right wing Bros, like they don't
- 10:51necessarily respect her or claim her.
- 10:53But Annabelle made a couple good points.
- 10:55She said first, not that she was necessarily advocating for me to
- 10:57cover this story, OK? But she was just, you know, like
- 10:59we were just talking about this. That makes it sound like she
- 11:02really wanted me to cover this story, but it's more that she
- 11:06wanted to give me an alternative perspective.
- 11:08She was like, well, first of all, you know, we're not in the
- 11:10same echo chamber as these people that are consuming Pearls
- 11:14content. So we may not know how
- 11:16influential or non influential she is right now.
- 11:18And 2nd, Pearl may not be great at converting people to her
- 11:22beliefs, but she is confirmation for people who already do
- 11:27believe these things, especially because she's a woman.
- 11:29And I think that gave me the perspective that, yeah, like we
- 11:31don't need to cover her often. And I don't think she's very
- 11:34worthy of being covered very often.
- 11:36But occasionally we can cover these moments from all of these
- 11:40types of creators, not just Pearl.
- 11:41When it feels like their mask is slipping or things aren't adding
- 11:45up with what they claim to believe versus their actions or
- 11:48what they're saying, what they're projecting, how they
- 11:51behave. Because at the end of the day,
- 11:53if we as left-leaning Internet net users can show how fake and
- 11:58griftery so many of these right wing influencers actually are,
- 12:01and that so many of them are clearly doing this for the money
- 12:05above all else. And that is the point that I
- 12:07really wanted to make in relation to this debate.
- 12:10Is it funny to see Pearl get owned?
- 12:12Is it funny to watch her fumble on stage?
- 12:14Like, yes, of course, of course it is.
- 12:17But above all else, this shows how little these people actually
- 12:21know about the stances that they're taking.
- 12:24Because for so many of them, it is a grift.
- 12:26All right, And the last way that I have for you guys, one of our
- 12:29listeners, like I said, a listener damned me, Hannah, and
- 12:32she asked me to talk about my opinion on why 2016 nostalgia is
- 12:36everywhere. Like why everybody's posting
- 12:38their 2016 throwback pictures, grid posts.
- 12:42Crazy. I did one of my stories grid
- 12:45posts is wild. Actually, Annabelle was like the
- 12:472016 throwback grid posts are like so 2016, which is honestly
- 12:51true. But yes, so I'm sure you guys
- 12:53have all seen this. It's become a trend this week.
- 12:55People are sharing their 2016 throwback picks.
- 12:58The whole concept is like 02026. I've heard it's 2016.
- 13:01Like, you know, looking a decade behind.
- 13:04And we're like, we're bringing 2016 back.
- 13:05It was so hopeful and nostalgic. And, you know, it was so much
- 13:08more optimistic and positive. And that's like the messaging
- 13:11around this. OK.
- 13:12Specifically, though, it has to be 2016.
- 13:14Like, it's not 2014. It's not 2015.
- 13:16Why did this not happen in previous years?
- 13:19Why is it specifically 2016? Especially because 2016 is not
- 13:22as hopeful and optimistic and positive as I think a lot of us
- 13:27online are remembering it as. So I believe it is specifically
- 13:322016. And this trend for 2016 has
- 13:35emerged right now for a few reasons.
- 13:37So first I did want to say there seems to be a misunderstanding
- 13:40of what 2016 actually was. A lot of the nostalgia being
- 13:44posted for 2016 right now was actually like 2012 to 2014.
- 13:49People are posting throwbacks like indie sleaze twee, like
- 13:53overblown Valencia filtered Instagram photos.
- 13:56Like none of that was actually 2016.
- 13:59That was even earlier than 2016. Now As for why 2016 specifically
- 14:04is popping off, there are so many theories that it has to do
- 14:07with the nostalgia for simpler times.
- 14:09Like I said, a more hopeful time.
- 14:11But again, that simple hopeful time was actually like 2010 to
- 14:17even 20/15/2016 was when Trump was elected.
- 14:21And the reality was that the culture was already shifting by
- 14:24then. So I think a few things are
- 14:25happening all at once that make 2016 like the moment that we've
- 14:30chosen to look back on, like this one.
- 14:33I think 2016 is around the time when most people who are very
- 14:36active online right now in the current moment, we're old enough
- 14:40to have social media. So the 2016 throwback is
- 14:43inclusive because most people online right now can actively
- 14:46participate. And it's also probably one of
- 14:49the first years where a lot of us would have content from
- 14:52because by then most people had smartphones.
- 14:55Social media had been a thing for a couple of years.
- 14:57Like my camera roll only goes back till I think I have like 2
- 15:00photos from 2015 and then 2016 is like a full album.
- 15:04I think by then it's a time when most people have proof on social
- 15:08media. We have Snapchat memories, like
- 15:10all these things that just attributed to us having like
- 15:12quite a large digital footprint that is also saved on our phones
- 15:16that we can actively go back to #2.
- 15:18Things have been really bad culturally for several years
- 15:21now. And while nostalgia for the 20
- 15:24tens has been popular throughout this entire time, I think the
- 15:28concept that we are like, quote, UN quote, bringing back the past
- 15:31decades specifically has worked for 2026 because there are fewer
- 15:37unknown variables going into this year.
- 15:41In theory. Not in reality, of course, but
- 15:43I'm going to say in theory because it's like the devil we
- 15:46know now. So since TikTok really blew up,
- 15:49which is where, you know, this trend has emerged from,
- 15:51obviously we have had the pandemic lockdowns.
- 15:54Then globally, there was like this impending sense of doom,
- 15:58even when things felt politically like they might be
- 16:00getting better financially, What the pandemic has done to us is
- 16:05traumatic. It caused a huge amount of
- 16:08economic fear, At least that's what I experienced.
- 16:11And especially as a business owner.
- 16:12There were a couple of years there when we came out of
- 16:15lockdown, but people were like, oh, we're still not spending any
- 16:18money because, like, we're going to go into a recession.
- 16:20And then obviously, Trump got reelected and 2025 is when he
- 16:24took office. So I do want to stress here,
- 16:26like, we are still in a pandemic.
- 16:28There are still horrific economic circumstances.
- 16:31We are in a cost of living crisis.
- 16:33Trump is the president. He's destroying the whole world.
- 16:35And you know, I am well aware that it will probably get worse.
- 16:39However, what I think 2026 has that other years didn't those
- 16:44years obviously in which TikTok existed or was like really
- 16:46popular, part of the zeitgeist was that we now have a sense of
- 16:51the devil. You know, we've been through so
- 16:54much and we have survived so much.
- 16:56All of the impending doom of like, Oh my God, what's going to
- 16:59happen after we get out of lockdown?
- 17:01What's going to happen with the economy?
- 17:03OK, we're a couple years out of that now.
- 17:05OK, so we're in a cost of living crisis, but we've been through
- 17:07that now. We've been living through that
- 17:09now, you know, and it's like, Oh my God, fuck, Trump got re
- 17:12elected. What's going to happen?
- 17:13Oh, his first year, what's going to happen?
- 17:14We've been through all of that. I agree everything's probably
- 17:17going to get worse unfortunately, until it gets
- 17:19better. Hopefully, knock on wood, it
- 17:21gets better. But you know, things are going
- 17:22to probably progressively get worse.
- 17:24But it is the devil we know, at least for now.
- 17:26So there are just fewer unknown variables going into 2026, which
- 17:31allows us to maybe go into this year feeling slightly more
- 17:35prepared and therefore maybe slightly more hopeful question
- 17:39mark. And after so many years of
- 17:42trauma, 2016 genuinely does mark the last year before everything
- 17:47felt like it got really, really bad, right?
- 17:49It's like looking back on the last year of innocence and hope
- 17:53for a lot of us. So that's my theory.
- 17:55I think all of those things together have created like this
- 17:58perfect storm for 2016, nostalgia to become really big
- 18:02and for this trend to take off specifically in 2026 instead of
- 18:06it having taken off in like 2024-2025.
- 18:09That's my theory and I'm sticking to it, but I'd love to
- 18:12hear your theories. Anyways, guys, that's it for
- 18:14Mini Scroll today. Thank you so much for listening.
